"Snap for men. Rush Jones bounces around throws ball left side that will be caught so tan cannot pull down. Shepherd Shepherd is going to get into the Enzo with the Giants Touchdown. 37 Yard completion from Daniel Jones to Sterling Shepard, Lini receiver last year for the Giants and New York bounces in front seat. X three with 8 56 to go in the second quarter. At 9 10 in the in the game. You know you had time to relax several in it's not like you got beat over the top. This was a play, man. Uh, it would be impossible for any wide receiver. The cover somebody all the way over the entire field, Okay? There are no cornerbacks like that. Dion Sanders, You know, nobody covers a guy that way from all the way one side of the field all the way over on 1st and 10. That was the first in 10 play. So you have to be in the mindset that you're protecting against the run as well and play action that comes back to you. To go all the way from that from that split that he had. That's an impossible place for him to make the only way they that you can do something, and that situation that's good for your team is put your head on the upfield shoulder. Get him out of bounds. Okay, was was Did Alexander Johnson have some responsibility on that play that he did not get because remember, 1st and 10. I said it right? It's a It's a great play Call 1st and 10. You have, say Kwan Barkley, Or I don't know who was in the backfield there. It could have been booker or say Kwan. But you know, it's 1st and 10. So play action fakes on 1st and 10 with that kind of power. In the backfield. Your linebackers are going to go step up. Okay. It was just a great play called and because of where, uh, because of where the receiver lined up Sterling Shepard, where he lined up. Any step forward by the linebacker that receivers behind him no matter what, because he's only three yards removed from the tackle. So he just stood. If he starts running whether linebacker Woods he's open. Interesting. Yeah. I mean, I watched the play like four or five times and I tried to figure out you know, it was a split, man. I mean, I mean, that slip was so close to that. I mean it. Those, so the new rule in football right now is tight formations equal runs. Okay, type formations don't necessarily equal past. The reason type formations. Equal runs is because they're so it's so muddy in there with those type formations. The safeties can't really see what's happening, and that's been popping these long runs, but it's also been able to produce Big explosive plays because you can do exactly what you just did. You know if Patrick's are tan would have been planned Sterling Shepard and he was outside the numbers. There is no way that play can get over over the top 4 37 yard touchdown. There's just too much to see. There's too much to react from, but from that split from that area of the field, it was just a great play call. All right, Listen, We have lots of really exciting news to announce here starting Monday. We've got a new lineup that is going to be happening here on K away. "I talked about it earlier in the week. Poker back to a football friday by the way. I i just think this is a nice early test for the broncos defensive backfield because i think that the giants did a really good job in the off season. They got kenny golladay. Their top free agent target. That was the guy they wanted for a very long time. They got him going along with john. Ross who's very fast they picked up. Kyle rudolph In the in the draft to they got another water. They went wide receiver head. Heavy kurd. area's. Tony i mean they loaded up. They want to be able to give daniel jones those weapons in his third year which makes sense. Unlike the broncos they were they loaded up everything last year with your lock in his first full year. They kinda got daniel jones golan with joe judge new new system and everything and then they started loading it up. This is the year for daniel jones of the pressure cooker. He is certainly. He is certainly in that. He's on the hot seat. I mean they have to decide if he's the guy going for. It's amazing how fast this goes. It was not long ago. That oh he's going to be the guy he's going to save us. He's going to take over where you know alive. He's gonna be our eli manning. Well the weapons might be their offense of like. I said the the offense boosted their getting barclay back. I don't know what it looks like. He is slated to play as far as the injuries go. He's listed as questionable but from everything. We've heard saquon barkley is going to play. And if he can be as explosive as he was before injury then look out but they also have devante booker and booker has had his moments against the broncos. Of course being a former bronco. You know he. They picked him up and they really like him in case barclay needs. You know you're not gonna give him a huge workload right off the bat. But there's pressure. Listen there's pressure with the giants. They at least have the okay. Joe judge our first year. We won six games and we actually were right there in the thick of it in the division. So if you're giants fan. You're feeling better about yourselves. And you're thinking we can go right here right off the bat and put together a win against the broncos they are looking at this game just like we're looking at it. They think this is a game that they can win. They got denver at home than there at washington home against atlanta those or their first three games winnable washington's defenses improved Atlanta you know. They're they should be good that sometimes. They're always surprising when they're not but this. I think this looks like an easier win for denver. I really do. I think teddy bridgewater is going to be a lot like teddy bridgewater. I don't think he's going to play outside of himself. They're going to run the ball. Really well with melvin gordon and Obviously johnny williams. I'm excited to see him. I think that that addition might take hold quickly even pat shurmur. Who was there with barclay it with the giants even said man. I could see devante williams avenue barclay type year his first year his it like barclays rookie year. So the run game will carry them. Offensively should open up a lot of things. I don't really look for a portland. Sutton or jerry judy. To go off for one hundred plus. I think it'll be spread out. Because you're really relying on melvin gordon. The d. line for the giants is certainly questionable. And i like the broncos offense flying a lot. So i think they're gonna move guys around and you know you're gonna hit you know. Maybe judy gets three or four catches for forty five. Forty five yards and a touchdown. Maybe portland sutton's at like six catches for sixty yards cage with like two or three. I could see that kind of spread out offense. I don't know that anybody just dominates especially because teddy's connection is more. Judy coralline sutton was more. I believe it seemed like he had more of a encamp anyway the way he talked and what we heard Was more of a connection with drew. Lock obviously didn't seem last year withdrew but they were good in those five games that he played his rookie season but on the offensive side. I just i think they're going to run the ball. They're going to run right. The hell at the giants with you know kind of a weaker offensive line. They lost or a defensive line. Excuse me the lost alvin tomlinson. Free agency They have some veterans. Danny shelton can't believe he's still playing austin johnson. Bj hill see. But i think the broncos have the edge there when it comes to the trenches on the defensive side again. I think the broncos should have the edge bradley chubb is now listed as questionable officially. Couldn't tell you. I mean i'd love to see if they if you could get von and chubb in the mix both healthy but this is where we are at this stage. I still like what this defense is capable of. Though i mean released on paper what we think they're capable of because they have the corner look at those corners ronald darby bryce callahan. Kyle fuller pat ser tan. And we don't even talk you talk about some of these other guys. I mean terrible news about michael. Oj moody being on the. I are just awful but you were in camp. You were like wow. They're stacked and we're not even talking about oj moody so they went deep into the into the db's and rightfully so they needed to that was a big weakness for them last year and They filled that void. I i look. I pat 'certain right off the bat to be in a lot. He's listed starter. They're gonna play. A lot of nickel-and-dime look for alexander johnson or justin stern. Ed josie joel to be out there by themselves alone linebacker. Because i think this team will be looking to. Hopefully they can just stop teams with great tackling corners. Which is what vic fangio likes e side. Chris broncos twenty four giants seven. You gotta blow out happening. Fangio handles crowd noise better than foxy. It's not a must win. People are saying must win for the broncos. I'm not going there. I said must win last week. Game one for issue different reasons. It's certainly a big game. You really need to win. It specially if playoffs are in your future and with that colefax. We'll take a break. We got the picks coming up next. I give you my big four my local teams. We talk about. I'll give you my lock of the week on the college football side and my lock of the week in the nfl. We'll take a short break. Picks coming up next. It's the whole show in a football friday northern colorado's voice one three.

"There must meet last year but those just hang with inside playing the game with me instead of just my job. China ilbo fall into gabby see a gap opening Stadium to where states much in of Out but for us last week's wise is something that i want to improve on his ours just saying earlier are got over tall. Say this marriage let me slide out to outside. Wish to make the run a background inside off make them go outside on different formations coach. Alexander back to the assignment conversation. How hard is that for you to remember. I gotta stay home. Or i gotta do this versus instinct of just wanting to like help out or go down and try and make a play. You struggle with that aren't far is las. Might know him. The siamese more so is more being more disciplined instead of jumping into this guy. Because you see the open instead of just seen him. I get as more slovenia's this point got this one way to pass through the knicks oneself as our being sounded this. Then here's fellow inside. Linebacker josie jewel about alexander johnson. Being more assignment sound in this vic fangio defense. Yeah i mean it's not it's not like the easiest defense ever by any means. It's it's pretty complex. Which is great because it gives us law do different things and you know maybe the first year he had a couple a couple signs and stuff like that. But you tell definitely in this year. He's morris island driven. He's understanding of the defense are standing. Roll out now. Since thing on the other side of the ball dalton rising talk yesterday and while i appreciate it the exchange. I had with them talking about leadership. The thing that i thought was most interesting was at the very end. He was asked. When you have two quarterbacks and we know how close he is through they came in. They were drafted. And back to back picks. They were roommates when they first got here at the team hotel and an early in their rookie seasons before they got the replaces of course Training camp ended but reisner was asked. If you're going to go sit in the lunchroom and have lunch with one of them. How do you decide who you're sitting with. And i thought he gave a pretty good answer. It's the same way across the whole locker room right because there's competition going on everywhere. Whether the since the quarterback the main position now might be highlighted. One everyone's talking abou there's competition everywhere man. My thing is like we're all trying to be the best team possible. So i never picked size and not going to hang out with one more than the other respect. Both trying to get to know both try to support both for every position across the. That's he not only just quarterback so you know when it comes to launch. Yeah man. I see what you're one day. I don't know eddie as well. So i'm trying to get to know him interesting ever since i got yourself. It's always great as a team mates. Make sure that you're extending yourself your to your teammates. Making sure he gets to know them in their life and dislikes and get to know you guys know each other better on the field..

"A very high stakes game of chicken. Is the simplest Packers have to come to the realization he's not coming back and then therefore go get their best deal. Um, sort of. I think they already realized that, though, because this is the situation, despite not having been in the media, up until about a few days ago, has been going on for months. I can tell you that the Rams made an offer and try to try to go get him. There's some back channel conversations they had with him prior to trading for Matt Stafford on the Green Bay rebuffed it at that time Niners did to the Niners did the day before the traffic. The Rams did it before the Stafford deal, and so they've been trying to. They've been trying to get him and bring him in. For a while. The Packers have been flying out there trying to talk to him all this kind of stuff. I think as long as Brian good against is there, there's no way or Rogers comes back. This is just good against or is it Mark Murphy as well? I think that he's Personal animus is with Brian Good against. I think that would Mark Murphy could be patched up. And he had Murphy have had conversations between February and now, But I think that there's Animosity with more than one party, but the split or the hard sell is with good goods. What about John James and the Broncos? What do they do there? That's a tough situation, especially after he kind of he was working out at the Broncos facility. And then when the Players association decided to do this arbitrary, ot a boycott thing, Hey, went along with the team, even though he disagreed with it went home and started working out. And when you're working from off site, you're not covered under team insurance. So he wiped out five million and injury protections and 10 million in salary and he ended up really hurting himself on that one. The Broncos. I mean, I talked a couple Bronco sources. They're very, you know, empathetic. But right now that situation is one where he sees he and the players have really kind of set themselves up for failure in the players Union massively overplay their hand. Not all the players were on board with not doing these OTA is I can tell you that right? It was not Wasn't he wanting to do the O T. A S was that he's not the only guys like Alexander Johnson. These guys were showing up there, guys, they're showing up. They just agreed not to talk about it to kind of keep the unified the perception of a unified front. But there I could tell you that locker room was upset about it. And there were guys in that locker room and said We were five win football team, the optics of not showing up for opiates While we're trying to make a power grab on something we didn't collectively bargain. Eyes is bad and JC trader and some of these guys have massively overplay their hand on this, and they're gonna get a lot of pushback this week because of John James was gonna get this could get really sticky with the union. It could get really sticking with you. So if you had to make a prediction will the Broncos Say sorry. You know, we feel bad, but we need this money to get another right tackle. If I'm predicting something, I suggest that they probably what the Eagles did with Jason Peters a few years ago, which has reached a settlement half um yeah, reach reach a settlement. You carry him on the roster and its equitable for everybody. You get cap savings. He gets some of his money. Nobody's the bad guy in it. You know, when you go forward from there, it's not one report that said it's a season indeed. Injurious another report this So what? Maybe there's a chance. He can come back. Is it a Tauron? Achilles? Yes and partially corn's not fully tourney, And there is some optimism that he could be back for the final month of the season. Give or take talked with my Garofalo, who put that out The second report. Talk with him yesterday, and it seems like that's the hope. But that's more of a hope that a medical diagnosis I'll just say based on The fax that we have That would seem highly unlikely to make and it's Z is more hope and wishful thinking that I think it is anything else. So with the Broncos have any interest in a Gallic Mitchell Schwartz or Charles Leno or what do they do it right tackle. Those are two names that are out there. I don't think Leno's gonna be one of them talked to somebody yesterday they hadn't reached out to him yet with Mitchell Schwartz. I talked to his brother Jeff yesterday for quite a bit, and Mitch is still rehabbing. He's not ready to play. So even if they reach out to that, that's kind of a giant question. Mark still has some back issues, some other names that are out there right now that I would suggest Rick Wagoner, Audie Massey. The more Dotson could be brought back, although I think that's kind of an emergency option and then Cam Fleming and Dennis Kelly would be other. They're going to bring some guys in this week and kind of take a look and see where they're at and go from there. So Mitchell Schwartz. He had a back issue that he's still rehabbing. Yeah, he's still rehabbing that back issue last year's Iranian play in the Super Bowl, and he's contemplating retirement. And the rest of these guys. Anybody stand out to you other than him. Cam plaints. Dawson's old. I mean, he did a fairly good job last year. Yeah, but he's old. Yeah, Dotson's a fun guy. He's good in the locker room, but you can't You literally can't run the screen game to his side..

"We're thinking maybe von stays. And maybe there's no movement. As far as the price tag for vaughn and we just stick with it. What does that do when we moved down the line looking at kareem jackson because again they're still a lot of broncos fans out there that are hopeful. Somehow some way at shawn watson trade happens but don't you have to start being pretty careful if you keep on contract in denver. What do we have left here. You got it. If you take care of cream jackson. He picked up that option. You hope to sign maybe a free agent or two and then obviously you have to have some leftover for rookie. So what does that do for for some of those big names. Kareem to sean draft free agency. Yeah well what it does brady is. The broncos are sitting in a great position with forty five million dollars in cap space at top five in the nfl. But if you keep von us you keep kareem. You pick up his option. He's gonna cost you twelve point eight million dollars against the cap and then you sign shelby harris. Let's say three years thirty million ten million dollars for him And you also pick up. Second round tender options for tim. Patrick phillip lindsay and alexander johnson. That's going to cost you over ten million dollars in total for them. Once you do all of those things then you have no more money left. You can't sign anyone else so what it means. Free agency is actually going to be boring. Because it's going to be keeping all of your own players and less. George peyton wants to really kick the can down the road and let's say instead of picking up bonds option. They give him Two years or three year contract for fifty million dollars and they'd backload it so a lot of the cap pits. Come in your two and your three to free up some money this year. Same a cream jackson. They could rework An extension for him. If shelby harris deal that that he is likely to get if.

"Linebacker as well that that certainly a possibility now interesting there for sure i i again i i. I'm looking at cornerback. Linebacker would be great too. I'm not going to argue either way. So with that. Being said cody and your conversation with the enwrap report as well. We're hearing different. Reports of the broncos might be front runners. Maybe they're one of the one of the teams that sean wants. Is there truth to that. And do you see. The broncos would actually be players in this well. He said that he wouldn't be surprised to denver. Did make a run at the shawn watson if he was available however the houston texans organization. Right now they are coming out and telling teams that is not available for trade. We're not trading him. You're wasting your time and so there. There is a legitimate chance that the shawn watson sits out this season. I mean i could see it possibly happening. Now it's gonna hurt him in the pocket book a little bit anytime you lose. Money is every day of houston texans. They're willing to be the they're willing to play strong on ball right here because just signed a massive extension. It's different than what they did with. Jj watt releasing today. Jj had one year left on his contract. In comparison to watson just signed a lot of money To his deal so it doesn't make too much sense for them to part ways with watson just yet they don't want to and more likely you're going to hold out and if worst comes to worst maybe appoint or houston says all right look. We're not getting anywhere. We're going to have to trade him But as of right now he's not available for trade and denver is not in on carson wentz according to interact for had told me here today. He says he doesn't get the sense at denver's involved in those talks on. However if a quarterback like russell wilson or the shawn watson were to be made available for trade he expect denver to call and inquire and potentially pursue. I'm i don't know if you've heard of the show. American pickers cody. But i'm wondering if this is houston saying hey what's the if denver calls and say okay. What's the i'm not going to trade him price and that and that seems like man. That could be incredible realistically. And i've talked about it but after seeing matthew stafford deal. What are we talking about here. If houston saying no then that leads me to believe that the price going up literally literally by the day. Yes it is and denver. See you start with three first round picks a couple of seconds maybe a third parting ways with players as well so apparently houston some young defensive players. Guys i can think of right now would be bradley. Chubb and dream on jones for the broncos. I don't think denver is at a point. They want to part ways with them. Von miller is up there in age probably choke was drafted to be the eventual successor. The sense opposite of him. They're not gonna trade those guys they. They really liked dream on jones. Who's become a very very under the radar player for the broncos in his last two seasons. you know denver would just essentially be parting ways to a too much. If you give up three first round picks you give up a couple of seconds. Just think about that. That's five players right there. That should be still. They could be starting it. Or they could be franchise building blocks that you're giving up for essentially just one player at the end of the day. I think it's too much. I think it's king's ransom and i am saying no. I tend to agree with you. My friend are going back to von miller. Justin simmons you're thinking Both those guys going to broncos uniforms next season. I do yes absolutely. I think there was some tracks into it. Ian rappaport when we talked today he said denver wants vaughn. Liberal back wants to be back in denver. now it's just a matter about negotiating the contract or obviously with a club option and potentially restructuring some of the money there but as of right now the expectation and the tracking. Is that denver. We'll be back with justice as an von miller in twenty twenty one i. that's good news on both sides. I mean i'd like stephen miller back ultimately same finished his career with the broncos. And like you said i'd like to see this bradley chubb. Von miller really really take hold. I feel like we. We haven't got to see that as best because bradley chubs injuries. And then of course von miller this year so excited to see it for one year back. I mean the fact that went probably a rookie. They were the top pass rushing to the nfl. We just got to see that yet. Under vic assistant managing editor get their back to the linebacker side. Cody as we talked about. Maybe the broncos are players in the free agents in the draft side of it maybe even as soon as nine or like you said maybe trade around and see what you can get but what about free agency. There's not a ton it doesn't seem like of inside linebackers that are going to be out there in the market. Not really i mean levante. Dave is going to be the most sought after candidate. But you know what he's more than likely going to end up packing a tampa bay. He wants to run it back to happen very strong defense. I imagine for them. Shaquille will not be back in tampa bay. He wants to get paid big time money. And i just don't think they can afford afforded but outside of that. Yeah denver's not going to be really in a mark in free agency in my opinion so really have an inside. Backer gonna give them the element that what we saw the denver broncos needing So i imagine that they're going to focus on in house guys like alexander johnson and then from that point they're going to look at the nfl draft but they also have a guy on roster that we haven't seen yet. But i'm telling people. Do not sleep on justin stern it. He is the guy that has the capability of being athletic insight. Backer he said a whole entire year to be in the position to the meeting rooms and also with the position coaches learning the defensive scheme and he's very cerebral regarding has the tools to be that so If denver believes they have a guy there sternad. You may see them. Just go best. Puerto available coach. Nfl draft outstanding stuff from you. Cody as always Who can we find that conversation that you had with the internet porn. What else do you have cook enforce that we can check out. Yeah absolutely so the interviewed and rappaport. "Welcome back to the program. BRONCOS COUNTRY tonight. Ryan Edwards. Benjamin Albright Hit us up on the phones three or 3713 85 85 you want to get in? Good opportunity to 5669 zeros. Another one from grace. I could drink of my feet on the ground, Ben, I still for Menchu e. I mean, cool. You know, I'm not. I'm not anybody for who they prefer or anything like that. Of course. I don't mean to come across that way. I mean, it's just your overall deliver your bedside manner and we get to work this. Yeah, We gotta work on this a little bit. I'll see what I can do. Yeah. Keep only gonna pull question at K away Colorado and they were basically kind of asking you right now. What? Which position is the most ad for the Broncos during NFL free agency? Alright, he's a quarterback inside linebacker or quarter back vote on that right now. We'll just discuss that here in a matter of moments. Zach Stevens from D N v. R the D M v r dot com's Gonna Choice the next second We'll talk about Jerry Judy with Zach. He had a nice article about Jerry Judy Mace. We talked about that one last night. Some of the expectations is about as far as drops go in here, too, so we'll get to. Ah, a conversation about jury. Judy coming up. With our good friend Zach Stephens coming up in the next segment. Also a little later on Patrick Mahomes. Ah, sound bite from his Host Super Bowl press conference. Oh, good Lord. Oh, yeah, of Kleeman put out their eyes making the rounds, So I'm gonna get bins Take on that coming up here in just a little bit, but Coming back to our poll question here again, you could check it out at K Away. Colorado, which position is a must add for the Broncos during NFL free agency, cornerback inside linebacker, quarterback or other and you can write in so far, the only right and we've had is right tackle. But that seems like something that the Broncos are probably at least in this very moment. Thinking John James is going to be at least the short term answer doesn't mean they're not drafting an offensive tackle. And as we get closer to the NFL draft, that becomes more of an interesting conversation about who's there at Number nine and what they decide do even into the 2nd and 3rd round. Then why did you vote for on this pole? I voted for corner. Um, I feel like that's the bigger need. I feel like if there's anything that you need to go out there to dress and you want to spend free agent money on, it would be the corner position. I would want to spend up and inside linebacker and we thought about Matt Molano. Do you really wanna spend $10 Million on inside Backer? Especially when you spend at least three on Alexander Johnson? Vic Fangio tells me he's inside linebacker he needs I Got Vic Fangio. And here's a coach because I want to see what he could do with younger, less expensive talent. Okay, So for me, that's you know, I he's there to coach up the talent, and I think that's where we want to skip. Okay, so we're going into free agency looking for cornerbacks. Couple of the ones that come up to mind. Of course, we know Patrick Peterson. He's gonna be available. We also know that Desmond King Is a free agents Shaquille Griffin. Is a free agent cornerback. See, I'm rolling down the list here. There's quite a few actually shall be a doozy. A. We know him from C U, but he's been with Dallas William Jackson. The third at a Sensi is another cornerback Richard Sherman. Believe it or not, is a free agent. Those were some of the top cornerback. So which of those cornerbacks do you prefer? I don't want Sherman. He's a cover three corner. I don't think he's really fit. Let's go back to that list and work our way back down. We'll go yesterday, and then we'll go from there and make me do this. Sergeant. I am, uh, Sherman's one that's gonna be overpriced. For what you're getting. At this point. His career is kind of a liability, especially in man. So All right, so back through this taken off Sherman. William Jackson the third at a sense, I'm okay with that one. That's what I'm okay with Adobe. A woozy, eh? Mm. You know, there's the Colorado connection. I think people might like that. But reality and I don't know. Okay. Keep going here mentioned Patrick Peterson. You are actually pretty okay with that one. I'm okay with that one at the right price. I'm not spending a bunch of money on if he wants to come. I mean, he got. He's had some issues the last couple of years, same coverage, but he'll be better in this in this particular set up. Um, I think that if it's me, I'm looking at the cost. And if I could get him at the right price, I'm in on that. Shaquille Griffin. No, He's not a fit, and that's one that keeps getting associate here. It's weird to me. Um he's not a fit. He's a cover three corner in a man corner. I don't know why you don't know why you bring about her husband, King. Maybe. It's not inspiring to me. I feel like if he's available cheap. Yes, Sir D. J. Hayden I'll be okay with that. Yeah. Ronald Darby. I'll be okay with that. We're getting kind of lower here like now. Now we're looking at guys. That Mayor these guys. They're gonna be worth the cost. But they're not. Yeah, you're not see the ones but they're worth the cost. In terms of a Seabee too Sure. Yeah. Let's see here, Trey Hardin. Uh, Troy Hill know JC Jackson. Oh, no. Yeah. I feel like the further we get down that list the leaves. Jackson knows somebody I'd look at it. Was he a okay? If we're talking about guys that you have to get like we're I think we have. We have to establish something that you need to get a starter. Starting caliber appear this Stevie Wonder CB to It's what you have to. You have to have that right? Callaghan's your guy. But you gotta have Stevie wonder Stevie to be able to cover. Why did she wanted to? Yes, of course. So if that is the baseline here of you don't wanna have to go into the draft and guarantee that you're taking a quarterback early in the draft. You want people to take one? When you want to remember that was part of the whole goal of free agency is not so much to hamstring yourself into. Well, this is what we have to come away with in the draft. Unless you have the number one overall pick and then it's very obvious that you're coming in to take In this case, Trevor Laurence, you're not gonna get a quarterback and free agency if you're the Jacksonville Jaguars, right, but otherwise you want to give yourself options. You do not want the rest of the league to know what your intent is. Going into the draft. And if they don't bring in a cornerback in free agency, that is very clear what their intent is..

"That least we've been using a little more on this show, which is More investing in the rest of the team for more investing and taking your shots a quarterback? Sure, absolutely. But again, using all of your top in draft capital for this one position. If you miss it zig difficult, right? And the other part of this is you know you are staring a defensive reload and rebuild right in the face. Yes, of course. How much longer Gonna have von Miller que Jack's 32 33 years old. Are you sure that you're getting Justine Simons back? We think we are and that's fine. But you're not 1% sure yet. You probably need to put the tag on his negotiating ploy. Alexander Johnson's 30 years old. Shelby Harris is like 28. Micro cell. He was 2027 28. The real KC Nejedly a. Probably not gonna be back and looked at Buck's team last night. I mean, they had some vets upfront, but their secondary pretty young. Yeah, The second is very young. It's a front seven. It's was where all the even the front seven. I mean Labonte, David's long tooth, But white isn't you know she's young, but they have some guys they can build around right and say, even including shack buried in there, But they have some guys they could build around The point is the Broncos pre much every single level. All three levels might be having to make some major decisions here very soon, and they need to be younger, right? Several of us quite a two thirds of each levels got age, you know, because once they do find their window You like like the table? Buccaneers? Did. They just kind of found their window right with when Tom Brady got there. They found the window. Well, they can sustain that. For a while. Is the defense largely young? The biggest decision you have to make his own shack. Barrett. Well, right, but mostly shock, Perry. On the offense. They're gonna make a decision on Chris got one. But the point is, that team can largely stay intact based on the fact that they've done a good job drafting, especially in the secondary on the defensive side. The Broncos like you said. They kind of been with the final remnants of that Super Bowl 50 team, which really is just Von Miller. At this point, Miller McManus e. That's got it, And so they kind of been, but they've been sort of patch working it together. Some vets now is time to actually invest on the defensive side. Why does this say that's why you got the money? You need to roll the cap forward. Now is the time to invest and you need to go go out there and get younger to couple positions two and you can't get younger if you don't draft picks. Real 3713 85 80 five's or phone number. 56690 Broncos country tonight, Okay, away news ready went everywhere on the I. Heart radio.

"Offensive lineman. He's the top 100 pick. You thought he could border into it into the first round. I still feel pretty good about putting him in day to the center guard is gonna be tough, but top 50, I think for sure on that puts you in the top. You know, 18 20 picks the second round so I would be willing to place a cool crisp. Benjamin Franklin that he makes top 50. All right, So let's go through some of the guys in the national team. I would throw out some names, and we'll just talk about whether or not that they impressed you. And they kind of move the draft boards of guys that sometimes you're gonna be fits for the Broncos and sometimes not so much. Dwight, Ask Ridge is a guy that absolutely impressed while out there from western Michigan wide receiver he was day one all the way through the week looks spectacular. Yeah, top 1 50 players, no chance that he doesn't and I think there's Is a team or two. I've kind of got circle for him. Actually, At this point. He's pays his coach Eric, Western Michigan in the league now, so if people can connect the dots on that they should build to figure out where I think he's gonna go. Demetrick Felton play, We'll see. L A. They play well lighted. Both receiver running back. Got that versatile your mind like a JD McKissick or somebody like that. I was thinking Antonio Gibson because he was the guy that was there last year. That was kind of the both running back wide receiver ended up having a great year out Washington this year, he kind of remind me a little bit of that. He went more from running back to wide receiver. It's not the same way that Antonio Gibson but Demetrick Felton absolutely had just in an overall. Great week. He once again, you know, you knew why receiver is gonna come out. Highland Wallace was a guy that you liked, right? Only on from Oklahoma stale thick. I didn't think he improved as the week war on. It's not overall. He was decent prospect. If the Broncos are interested in the day, three wide receiver, I wouldn't be upset about it. Yeah, I mean again. I don't think the Broncos gonna be in that for receivers to too much, but somebody will be enough for him, and I thought he did pretty well. Okay, let's keep going through. We could give you a Nico Collins breakdown from Michigan. I thought he was He was okay. Um, let's let's get to the inside linebackers because there's a couple of guys I wanna highlight. So the national team they had the Ohio State Trio, right? Yeah. Justin Hillard. You had tough Borland and the man Aaron Brown Man Bear Browning, which is a dude, by the way that that could line up at outside linebacker if you really wanted him to. I think he has some versatility. A Z either a pass rusher or can play on the inside. But if I'm the Broncos, and I'm intent, I'm getting an inside linebacker. I'm 100% looking at a two guys and this will be on day two more than likely. And so you were looking at either Barrett Browning or you're looking at what was number 9? 19 is what I'm thinking of job. Real Cox at l s U for the American team. Such a real Cox And Barry Browning for me. Ah stood out above all the rest when it comes to the inside linebackers and the guys that you want to have this team thought they both had great weeks. I like I came in liking. Barrett Browning Cox. Those things you watch him. The speed was miss. Maybe you take different, You know, you kind of look at him. You see, It's just that he's just a better athlete. You know. Overall, that's not take anything away from drowning. But I think Cox is a better athlete probably goes, will hire in the draft, but I would be fine with either one of those guys here. Put him next to Alexander Johnson. Man. You gotta You gotta tough duo there, the guy that I was really excited to watch during the course. The week was Levi Rosary, Kay, and he only got the one day but he did have a good first day. He was one of those guys where you kind of knew that he was more. I mean, he's coming off of Ah, not that year. You kind of knew that he was gonna have a non opportunity early on in the practice week. If you got a little banged up, which it seemed like he did. He was likely going to Rest. He's the top 100. Maybe even for our top 50 kind of player. There's some people out there that thought he could be the best defensive lineman this interior defensive lineman in the draft. I don't think he necessarily put himself in that tear, but for me a no doubt top 50 place. So if you're thinking about a defensive line of the Broncos, right when they get to the turn there at the second round, Levi Rosary K and then Dalen Hayes He's another guy that I thought really impressed. Impressed and moved up his draft stock. Yeah, those retail like Hayes. I didn't get the watches much. I'm trying to think Notre Dame. Yeah. No, I'm trying to it was the kid from Pittsburgh. Want to mention him? I thought he looked. His name escapes me at the moment. I'm gonna Patrick Jones. Yeah. Um, but, Yeah, I didn't get us see Hazel's much had that one spectacular day like you, and you didn't. I don't think he did much in the third day. But the second day he had a couple of shed blocks for T F. Els. And then he also had a strip sack. That's right. That's the quarter from the strip. Sex. Yeah, No, I didn't get much chance to watch him. Is that one of light so that that's one? I have to put a pin and take your word for it. Okay? Anybody else on the defensive line pass rushing out? Jonathan Cooper was a guy there was excited about the thought he did okay, as far as the week from Ohio State. I'm trying to think about anybody. Other pass rushers. I mean, Carlos passion was attacked. But every already knew that he was one of the best players coming in. Yeah, No. You absolutely knew that was going to be the case and one guy that I thought people were a little bit down on. Unnecessarily. I'm trying to find him. He's one of the big dudes out there. Um, it was kind of interesting because this this particular group, they were missing a lot of defensive tackles, kicking a lot of the ends inside and put him out of position play and then some unforgettable, washed and had people air quotes down on them a little bit. Or maybe, you know, it's just a guy playing out of position. And Marvin Wilson was one that from Florida State, you know, this is another guy that I've seen in some first round MOX. That some people were a little bit down on his performance over the course of the week. I don't think he actually ended a practice in the last day, but some people were a little bit down on him. A couple of guys that absolutely impressed if you're looking for offensive tackle that were kind of jumping all over the place here, But we're just kind of going over some of the guys that are in my notes here. Daniel Raton's I know your state..

"So that I'm glad that was held up a little hot. A hot takes floating around out there in Cleveland. I'm glad that wouldn't didn't come back to bite. You were other ones, not you. But other guys I know out there have said, doing up the draft Baker Mayfield, then I'm going to eat horse excrement Never followed. They were followed through. Never never heard of her back for that guy. All right. Information Here was our conversation earlier today. Out of the practice field. How are you, Mace? Doing great. Great to be back here. Think of how much has been abnormal messed up over the last 10 months. And yet we're all sitting here watching Senior bowl practice. I mean, This is a veil of enormous normalcy amidst mountains of chaos. I love it. I've never loved being down here more than right now. I know it's a It's a great reminder, especially without the combine coming up on the other side of this, So no question in today, honestly woke up with a sense of kind of dread. Little bit of a bummer, because not only was today's practice expected to be rained out, But then we're also worried about tomorrow's practice, too. So the fact that we're out here At the stadium. Watching practice is really fantastic. So a couple things I want to get into first of all. What do you What are you looking for? His first Broncos needs like that's one of the things we're talking about on the show tonight. What are you looking for? Right now? As far as what needs need to be filled for the Broncos and maybe a couple of names? You keeping an eye on for that? You have to start I think with inside linebacker and cornerback on the defensive side and Maybe inside linebacker isn't a need for this year. Assuming that Alexander Johnson comes back on our F a tender and, of course, Joseph, you'll going into the final year of his rookie deal. Maybe you're looking beyond that. And the one guy I wrote about over on the NPR dot coms chest Surratt, who is raw. Only been a linebacker for couple years. Very smart, Athletic 45 speed. You look to him. It's somebody you can bring in coverage. A little small tour £27. You're gonna want films put on some weight, but he's kind of that. Upside guy that if you bring him in and kind of incubate him for a year in two or three years, you could be looking at somebody who's one of the better inside linebackers clearly has all the tools to somebody like him. You're also looking at the cornerback position as well now. If the Broncos go cornerback in round one early, you're not going to see the answer down here. But you can't look today to Andy and Day three and see plenty of guys on the radars. Well, then to a lesser degree quarterback and all the buzz right now. They trade for Matthew Stafford. What do you do with true lock doesn't mean you're not looking. I'm sure they're gonna take a long look at Mack Jones out here working, and with the Panthers coaching staff this weekend as you and I were talking about off there. Jamie Newman, who was that way far is transferred to Georgia didn't play all last year. A guy who's got a lot of raw tools a lot, a lot of things that you like from a quarterback, but probably needs some developmental. Time. It's one of the same thing you say about drew a couple years ago, so lot of guys to keep your eyes on. Tell my Surat being raw. And you know Ryan that we're having a conversation about that, I think will earlier were talking about wrong and the differences between what's actually rises the underdeveloped or is he actually wrong? Now? He made the position switch. That's a little bit different. You look at some of the other guys like, for instance, a guy like Belafonte. Is he raw as in he's under developed, or is the raw as in? Hey, has all that skill set there and it just you know he hasn't taken to coaching yet. How do you try to differentiate between the two here? That's a really good question. I think probably the it's different for each of those guys with Surat. You're looking at somebody who has the intelligence to be that quarterback on the defensive side kind of because he was a quarterback on the offensive side. He understands like how everybody everything integrates, but your talk with him you're talking about technically role you're talking about. Is, you know, how does he respond to it to a break from opposing that when he's in coverage, you know, how does he make sure he's filling the right gap? Sometimes he still is learning how to read what's thrown at him. Another thing that happened with Surat this past year North Carolina defensively they were shredded. Not a lot of talent on that side of the ball compared on the offensive side. Well know about Sam. How quarterback a great running back? Caroline, who's flashing here already is Michael Carter. All the town was on the offensive side. They got in those shootouts that you kind of recall over the course of the year and defensively surround, I think, gotten some bad habits trying to cover for everybody else. I want to see what he does when he can just focus on doing his job rather than thinking, Okay, I've got to help the safety out. I've got to help the guys on the eggs. I've even got to help the cornerbacks. There's the slot corner a little bit. These are things that I think Peeking growing as well when he gets kind of narrow his focus a little bit. Okay, So you mentioned quarterback and let's let's talk for a moment about that, because we're also talking off Mike about the different options and, you know it's interesting how things are sort of shaking out because we don't know exactly where Matt Stafford is going to go. But while we're still dreaming, what is the What is the scenario in your mind? That makes sense for the Broncos? The short term, which is this year? Where, you know, A lot of fans are looking for this team to start. Showing promise, especially with some of this youth and long term because these seem like almost two different philosophies. You're going after here, especially if you're pursuing, say, Matt Stafford or some of these other bigger names. Matthew Stafford, You're hoping you can microwave yourself into a contender. The question is What is the ceiling? If you bring in Matthew Stafford, isn't it? Are you looking at a scenario where you trade for him, and you probably have to sacrifice at least the first round pick No. Peter King tossed out a second round pick Andrew Locker two twos. There's going to be competition for Matthew Stafford. The market's going to drive that, Ben, you've talked about this and you tweet about this. It's going to take a one plus and maybe like a wanted to win a three so Are you willing to sacrifice that Because the interesting thing was Stafford you bring him in and You are much better quarterback. But what's the outcome of that you go 10 and six or 11 and five and you're having to go through the wild card round because the chief's basically won the division and so you have to win three road games. So is that worth that sort of sacrifice right now, when you've got a juggernaut that hasn't really begun to be to be hit from a cap perspective, sitting there with the Chiefs, and you may be saying, okay? We're the best we do. A second place in the less Patrick Mahomes gets hurt, So I have to think about kind of the law the long the short term what you'd get out of it compared to the long term, the benefits of Sticking withdrew lock. If he proves to be the guy could be tremendous and at least I think you bring in competition. You're not standing..

"But he's what 32 years old and on the last year of a deal, and you know you can't you can't reset both safeties in this defense, which requires those safeties to be excellent. Um, you can't reset both of them at the same time. You just can't do it. So the the one of them said I would the draft. That would be a top priority for me looking at that roster in the draft, another safety would be a top priority. There's good safety class toe. There's really good safeties into that a little bit later on because I've been doing a lot of work on safety, but the next thing I asked about the restricted free agents All right, and this was all over the map. Which kind of speech that all of them said that they would probably tender Alexander Johnson in the second round. And they said You might get somebody biting on that. So be careful, um, there were in, they said, but the long term prospects with him, they're not sure they would sign Alexander Johnson to a long term deal. His age. Hey, plays well within the confines of the system, but his age is kind of, you know, I mean, where's the drop off on that? Keep in mind, it's less wear and tear on the body. But again, you talk about a coverage coverage linebacker Pushing 30. Well, right. And you put up Josie jewels in his last year, So you're gonna you're gonna have to draft should also be a priority. We go back to some of the notes here on the other restricted free agents Phil Lindsay. This one was divisive. Okay, there, are there. Keep in mind. These guys don't have the sentiment of Phil growing up in Colorado being a Broncos guy. Yeah. Neither will George Payton, by the way, 506 said punt. Five out of six, said Art said original round tender. I'm not that surprised by that's coming off injury. Yep, even though he's never fumbled that he's been reliable in that regard. This system isn't a great fit. But he's got three straight years of injury, and the reason he went undrafted is people were concerned about yet and he just you know, and this system is in a great fit for him. There's a lot more inside zone and power in this system, where he's probably an outside zone runner. Tendered him original round tender and just let him, you know, let him be happy and move on. Probably you a team like San Francisco that where he would be a great fit on and go from there and running back all of a sudden becomes a little bit of a priority and you go to the draft on data and get the get the running back. The other restricted free agent Tim Patrick. This time was split down the middle, which I thought was going to tell the other way a little bit more. I thought it was gonna be. There were some that were original round tender, three words around center and said You just You know you do the right thing by the free agent original round tender him and say, Look, we'll give gives us the right to match comes, of course, but you know, we're gonna do right by and we understand because Him. Patrick in this setup is probably gonna be wide receiver four next year, just based on the youth, you have everything else. By the end of the season. You certainly would be unless there were injuries because you recorded something coming back here. You just drafted in. KJ really stepped it up over the course of the season. You look pretty good, so that's probably going to be your 12 or three next year, which you want to have. And then no of fence obviously mixed in there, too. It's hard, right Split in this off on why so right, so, but there were some things said You tender him its second round. You see if you can get a team to bite on that give You a second round from established vet, big time wide receiver like that, who didn't drop any balls? I mean, there's no there's a certain amount of teams that would need an X receiver and and might be looking for a little bit more of a contested catch guy. I mean, Somebody tweeted out. I'm starting out credit this But like you look good in Green Bay Packers uniform next year catching passes. It's like, Yeah, I mean, honestly, they could use another guy opposite. Davante Adams and you kind of mixing Lazard and you mix in in, you know, Vallis candling And but But the point being, there might be some teams out there. That would be happy to have that guy as a wide receiver to for them, And that's you know, that's the thing. So I thought it was gonna be split more the other way. Yeah, I feel Lindsay was gonna be a bigger split. And Tim Patrick was gonna be more now. They were split on Patrick and a little more unanimous about letting Phil go. So that was that any questions on Von Miller? That was that was we're going to that now. Okay. What would you do about Von Miller? All six of them said. Obviously, the Broncos franchise identity is tied to this player, you know? Um, there were now keep in mind. Most of these cars were before I only got one after the legal issue, which we again We don't expect to be anything but you know, just a heads up for context. All six of them said that they know the franchise they did. He's tied to Von, and obviously, that's going to create a little bit of a different challenge, they said, is a general manager. You can't be too tied to a player, though. Once you get to a certain point, you got to understand this firm lines in the sand. So you approach von about an extension offer to guarantee the money that would have been in the option pick up this year over the course of three or four years, and he's gonna take a significant reduction to play for the Broncos. He's not a $20 million a year outside linebacker anymore, right? You probably approached with a deal that is somewhere between 14 and 15 A p Y. And that guarantees the money that was in that team option that would be picked up the 21 guaranteed over three or four years, and that's how you you bring back fun. And they say if you don't take that, Hey, We appreciate your bond. We love you. We love what you've done. You'll always be a Denver Bronco. You're gonna retire, You know, be a ring of Famer Paul of Famer all that kind of stuff. But this is where we're at..

"Well, we had a couple of your teammates on this week on Alexander Johnson said. Something I thought was kind of interesting because we were talking to him about the youth of the team. And even on the defensive side. Not only people acknowledge that most of times on the offense because the youngest offense in the NFL, but you guys have a lot of youth on the defense side playing major snaps. And I was asking him about that. Like, hey, do you guys feel like you deserve any kind of? I don't know, context or nuanced or or even explanation because you had so much youth, And he said, Absolutely not. He's like, I don't look at it like that way at all. In fact, I don't want to lean on that excuse. If you are a professional football player, I don't care what year you're playing in. We expect you to go out there and play at a high level. You echo that. Yeah, I guess we do. Because you know if you're on the field, the coach trust you, You know they trust you. They gonna play beside the guys and know exactly what to do while you're in the shit and Towards the end of the season, like kind of coach like my DV coaches saying, OK, we're starting. Look at you as a second year guy. Now you know you're starting to feel things so means you got to step up our leaders last couple weeks, so Definitely. I mean, Ricky, or 10 Year event we on the figure expected to perform the job. Yeah. Looking back on your first year. What was the highlight of the year for you? And what was the low light of the year for you? That's good. I probably say. Holiday of the year for me, is probably Seo That's a long in the game in the charged in came out in the wind like the last second win. And that was kind of You know? The glimpse of like, how a really good wind feels like, you know, locked rooms, punk. Everybody's happy that the whole rest of the week. Everybody's happy and you know Winning feels good. So I'm kind of going to stick to that. And you know when I'm playing, you know, chase that winning feeling so and one of the lowlights is probably, you know, like a bad loss, probably like Uh, hi. The Raiders lost in this season's saying that he's not lost. You know, even though we weren't playing for anything still hurts the same. You know, so I probably said that wins and the losses That's as a really good answer. And and honestly, you know, I think a lot of people wonder sometimes when from a college player, we talked about this earlier there with Jerry Judy, you know, coming from Alabama and all the success that he had out there and you know you have success as well in college, But when you come from college and you're used to winning, you're one of the best players on your team and you win games and you come to the pros. It's not always automatic win. That you sometimes experienced in high school or in college. How is that adjustment for you? Definitely is a judgment because I've posted. The thing is, you know just mentally because, you know, coming from winning program like Jerry together. Everybody's winning. Everything's rolling. You know, you're meant was always good, Always high, Always playing free, confident when you're losing them. Start that starts to creep is so I said, Keep your mental right keeping strong. The whole year was something I had to grow up. You know this time last year, you were probably get ready for, you know, maybe combine prep. You know the senior Bowl? Um, you know, pro day stuff like that, even though covert kind of derailed a little bit of that. What are you gonna be doing this off season? You know, you've got a year of professional football under your belt. What you gonna do this offseason? What is that? What is that routine look like for Michael Oh, Jim O'Dea. Yeah, I'm definitely gonna I definitely I have about, uh, three weeks left homages. Chill, you know, let the body rescue has been granted for a while. But then I'm a silly get back into it. Exactly recovery, you know, keeping the body right? And then the last thing I want to build on the off season, So you know a little later in the process of, you know, work on forward working the other by street, you know, just In a little bigger, you know, just to the game, so there's just a lot of things that would work on next couple months. Coach mentioned You had a little bit of anything There. Is everything all right? Yeah, Everything's all right. They just cleaned up a little bit. So I was rehabbing, right? But right now and you know, just getting back to normal self. All right. Well, very cool. Well, Michael, last one I have for you and really, really do appreciate the time. Michael Llodra Moody. You joining us here now, one of the things that I also asked a couple of your teammates earlier this week, I talked to Millie Creed and Alexander Johnson is the optimism surrounding a locker room. You're right into the game into the season with that lost to the Raiders, and I know that you guys were all really hoping To finish out strong and win that one. But at the same time, there was definitely growth and I felt like you. I mean, a lot of the young players really took some major steps forward. So where is your optimism level at right now heading into next year? Yeah. Um, definitely really optimistic. Like at the end the games anyway, speech, and I was just like No, We didn't take this division this conference by storm that shit, So a lot of guys are really hungry and they're going to come into Can't OK, just that same mindset, so I'm really kind of the same mindset, and there's lots of proven next year, you know, kind of the way we French next year about two were playing for the jobs, so that's approved next year. And that's kind of the mentality. We're all gonna have. Love that. You know, I was thinking about the senior Bowl because I kind of called my shot when we went out there last year, and I said you were the guy to watch. And so now I have to. I have to find a new corner back this year to go out.

"Broncos country tonight, Right? I would spend it with Albright taking Alexander Johnson. Thank you. Steve Atwater. Get those interviews up. Broncos country tonight dot com. Writing Crystal or Caylee Broncos inside joins us in about 30 minutes. Stick around For that the meantime, hit us up on the falls three or 3713, 85, 85 or 56690. So I want you to come right back to something, he said. They're after reflection in the break. I'm a little tour on this. I'm a little tourney on what she said about youth, because where he won't use his excuse. I think it's still be Part of context and new ones because we talked about with the offense right the youngest offense in the NFL. We talked about the youth as it relates to reasons. They struggled early on reasons the Broncos defense gave up almost 28 points per game is you had to turn to guys that had barely played if at all at the pro level. And have a lot of experience playing together. Or in the pros, So I'm gonna play this sound by so I asked him about the youth on the defense. So I play this. And then when I wanna sort of this debate this with you, just for a moment. Here's Alexander Johnson for moments ago on not using excuse using youth as an excuse. Like I always I've been hearing that since, like college days, when you hear about used the young guys like I'm a guy who don't really believe in that nice. Seems like if you're a player. You're a player. Remember? Regardless, how many years of your plan? I mean, I'm in snaps. You've been planning it don't matter. You gotta line up and play. Granted, If you've been on played 10 years in the league, you maybe know, even pick up different schemes a little fast or recognize stuff a little here and there, but after him today, regardless you got together. Then they feel you've got to make plays. You gotta do your job. You got to go ball, so I don't really buy into that. You think young stuff like you wanna feel you need to be making plays? You need to be doing your job. Marry if you're older, young so I don't really buy today. You stuff like that as much the least idea that it's a great great answer, And I think from player to player You can say those things like you can't. He's not gonna say that. Michael Odra Moody. It's okay. You gave that touchdown because you're young like that. That doesn't exist. I understand it, but I think that there's a little bit of a context argument we can have from the outside looking in at that team and say, Well, he may not want to give excuse for youth, but I think certainly we can have a conversation about that. Can't we stood No, I'm saying we can mine. What side? Are you coming out on that? Well, That's what I'm saying. I'm a little torn. I mean, on one hand, I see his point. I think from inside the locker room, you're not gonna care about you. So I mean, you strap on the pads and we're gonna go. You don't. That's what it is football player. You don't. It's exactly he's answered exactly right, you the ball or you're not. You think I was capable of going out there doing the job? You're not Did we not say all season long? That's youngest offense in the NFL, and there were. The reasons they're getting. Having struggles out there on the defensive side is because they're playing with guys that relative and experience. I think so. I think those air too. Different conversations. Okay, I think you're you're a macro and micro view. You know, The micro view is in the moment you got to trust that your body could do it in the macro view is Hey, this offense has not reached its ceiling because you've got young guys in there. They're still figuring it out. You know, it's like saying that the first four games of the season you got a brand new defensive coordinator, you know, like last year. Well, Vic Fangio the 1st 45 games to see if the Broncos defense one eye Good. It couldn't get sacks. Could you turn overs? Whatever. And part of that was the defense was still getting used to a brand new defense. Now they're going to tell you that's no excuse. We gotta go out there. Get it done. But the reality is is that you know, when you go back to the macro view, everybody's got the ability to look at it. And she said, Well, defense has the ability to improve and be better because they're still learning it in, gathering it and getting all this information. And processing it into liquid stuff. So there's a there's a macro versus micro view. The individual view is always going to be. I don't care how old how young you are. If you're white, black green, whatever. If you go out there and play you play in the story, the the macro view was going to be well. These guys were young. Um, you know, we're gonna have to do the best we can with them, and they'll grow into the superstars that become I mean, if you look at Justin Simmons and year one versus Justin 70, Year four, you're talking about a relatively inexperienced player who got on the field a little bit versus an all pro. So you know, I I don't think that that's that either side or either particular stance is 100% accurate, But I think both of them are 90% accurate. I think it's no no 100% that that's what I'm saying. Like, like a Susie said it. I'm like, Yeah, you behind that. And I'm like, Well, wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait. Hold on. Get behind it from a player to player perspective. But I also feel like when we're having conversations about why this team is struggling. I think it's Zapopan Iate to bring up their youth. It's appropriate to bring up there in experience their time together on the field. So Where I love that the Broncos as a team inside that locker room will use that as an excuse, and we haven't found any guys by the way that have used that is excused. They'll know because if you do find them, they won't be here. Right. You give credence to it as an acknowledgement, but as Alexander's it, I mean, it's almost the opposite ways like I'm not even to give it credence. We those guys need to go out there and play. If they're if they're playing out there, part of the 11 We have to win. We have to find ways to win. And it doesn't matter who's out there. But again, I think this is like you said of Micro versus Macron is too from conversations. Love that inside the locker room, though they don't really care about that, at least that context, right and you see the lengths that NFL players will go to to motivate themselves. It's also against the world. When was the Patriots? Nobody believed it was the year the Patriots everybody believed, you know, so from that you can kind of gather that Alexander Johnson the mindset that we're not going to allow crutches in the locker room..

"Go back and look this we were down to the Parnell might lead Avante, Bobby, and, uh, you know, Jim Moody by the end of the year, and it was all I thought it was pretty decent for what they had. Are you seeing Maybe, um you know, a championship caliber defense if everybody's healthy Well, I definitely think so. It with everyone, healthy, everybody, you know, being in the system for a third year, I think that is going to be really, really good. Uh, you know, defensively and offensively, um, you know, and well, obviously, the biggest thing on off inside the ball is gonna be is you're not going to be that person, or, you know, with the team. Try to bring in a veteran or try to draft someone else. You know, that's kind of up in the air right now. I think we'll have to see wait to see what they do. But, yes, far as the other positions, though. I think that you know we're in really good shape. Guys got some really good experience this year. A lot of the young guys got great experience, weight pushing very been able to Come in and play a lot. Of course. Don't rise there, you know, having the full season and Andre will have the wind James back next year. Uh, so, yeah, I'm looking forward to a Gap bowls. You know, he's locked in. We don't have to worry about who's gonna be the left tackle now. Um, So, yeah, I'm really excited about the future. It is this football team and again, you know, having the coaches in place another year. That's just gonna pay dividends. And, you know, I know we're all hoping that we can have a pre season. Toe where we can continue to fine tune the things that we that we developed this year and and that we're improving on What was your overall assessment of drew locks play this season. Uh, I thought it was okay. I really, uh I still think he has a lot of potential. Ah would have liked to see a little bit more progress. Um, you know you'd have, you know, pretty good game and, uh, you know, have a bad game have pretty good game. Bad game. Really good game. Bad game, So I just like to see the consistency Be there a little bit more. Um, but again, I'm a firm believer that with time and with reps. You know, I don't know many people that don't get better, with more reps. So again, hopefully have the same offensive system back on with that is looking right now That's where is gonna be and, uh, I think that's gonna help everyone on the opposite side of the ball. Be better, you know, being in the same system here in the same calls from the same coaches. You know who they got that you know relationship has developed over this last year with office coordinator there. Um, Yeah, I think it's I think it's all positive man. And, uh, You know, I'm hoping that whoever comes in at the GM sees it the exact same way. You know, I don't know if you've looked in tape of these, uh, these guys coming out in the draft at all yet. Michael Parsons line background. Penn State Patzer Tan the corner out of Alabama two names being kind of associated with the Broncos right now, if you if you looked at either one of them and if so, what do you think? No, I haven't haven't checked him out yet. But you know, I would say right now, if I had to say one I've heard about certain certain that's the other lets the player sometimes who we played in the league. That's the son, I think. Yeah. Patrick's or turn the corner for the Dolphins. The chief? That's his son. Yeah, Yeah, yeah. So I would have to definitely lean that way. Uh, you know, Big a Jade Buddha and breast Callahan food there, you know, really good cornerback. They weren't his healthy this year. A zoo we hope that they would be here. But you know Only anybody on the team was healthy for the whole year, though, about definite, like just tight knit group of this a little bit more. Um, I thought that Alexander Johnson and Josie Jule And it came and they play. They play really good football man. I was I was impressed with the inside linebackers this year. Um and again, I think You know, just being in the system plan together. We're just gonna get better and better. So I'm excited for the future. And I'm hoping that you know the guys haven't lost any confidence because Hey, if uh, Chicago Bulls back in the day of their loss, Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan gets what they wouldn't want either. So well said well said, and by the way, just a reminder to everybody as we have Steve here. He's gonna be joining us throughout the offseason, as he typically does, and he always brings us his eyes. Favorite guys, We gotta go through the draft picks. We have him pick out a couple of guys he bring. He comes on. He breaks them down for us. Especially the guys in the secondary. Steve, I can't wait to it. I'm I'm imagining a probably not going off the senior bowl this year. Well, I can't wait to find another diamond in the rough like we found Michael. Oh, Jim O'Dea last year out of the senior Bowl, are you He was excited. I am problem. You found him. I didn't do that. You did it. No way we're gonna send Ryan is an advanced scout this year before we even go down. Do any coverage. We're sitting right to scout the players and send the notes back. Yeah, so crazy because You know, he ended up being here as a draft pick, and you know, we really were, You know, way focused on the mover that the Senior Bowl last year, so that was really cool. I think it's what I think. It's funny, though, is once I pointed him out, you guys went out of your way. Yeah, you got you guys went out of your way to Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, I know. But you're you're out there. And and you. You went out of your way to basically point out every single time that he had a mistake or something like that. We were just trying to balance the coverage. Steve and I were trying to balance the coverage. You try to make it all good. I point out some of the negative, so we've got about All right. I'm just here for the jokes. If you're just here, you're just here to look good. All right, Steve, Just go with the gold. That's right. That's right. Don't say you don't bring that thing to the Hall of fame, right? Everywhere. I'm You got dragged into your rotation jacket. Don't don't encourage him. You'll try to upstage you. Don't you know this Is the states picking up all of it? That's the C C management, Harvey, but it starts small. Like I'm gonna wear a gold jacket to like wearing white to a wedding and start small..

"Would suggest that the champ is probably like a said, gonna bring foals. Yeah, that would be your competition. And then if it doesn't work, you could walk away from both the end of the year. If Adam Peters were to come in That would probably be the worst case for lock. That would probably be depending on how Adam feels about this quarterback class. But that's really Adam Specialty. Where is with Peter with Kelly? It's really not Um with spy tech. Oh, I don't know. I honestly don't know the answer to that One eaters would probably the end of Lago. I would, I would. I would honestly suggest that Zach Wilson would probably be the preferred Just based on knowing what I know about Peter's. That would probably be the preferred guy. Okay, So Peter's Who's more of a college guy, their college scouting background? Of course, he'd be more interested potentially to reset their with a young quarterback. That would be his guy, right? Where is your talking about? Maura of a pro scouts there in Kelly. He might opt to run it back for a year and see how things go and get a get a little bit of a lay of the land more so than to do that, too, because he's got the relationship falls is there with the Bears right now is all that kind of stuff. Pulls has a previous relationship with Pat Shurmur dating back their time. Philadelphia s O Fools just makes the most sense out of all that for for that scenario, Okay. Next question here. Speaking of Justine Simons is we were talking about him. What are the chances? He re signs with this new GM. What about von Miller? What about Shelby Harris? So kind of asking about all three guys. Humans in the are a phase earlier, and that's obviously one of the big decisions they have to make right off the bat with Phillip Lindsay and Alexander Johnson and Tim Patrick. But yes, Justine Simons. That's probably the number one thing that has to be decided. Shelby Harris is in the mix there. And then yeah, von Miller some pretty massive decisions, and it comes back to something we were discussing before right. It's beginning to show just like there's Ah lot of people worried right off the bat on. Oh, my gosh, This new GM is gonna come in a completely different philosophy with the draft and sort of so forth. It's like Hey, listen. They've got some major decisions to make about their own roster before they even get there. Yeah, On gets the thing like you. You do need to go and check if like we talked about the R face, right, you gotta make who How And who are you gonna tender there? Because Who can you afford to lose? Who can you afford to keep it? Those prices? You know, who are you willing to let test the market and they go if they need to. Tim Patrick, unfortunately, probably falls in that original round tender. Category. Just based on the death that wide receivers chap, eh? So you probably tender Lindsay and Alexander Johnson a second round tenders. On. Then you start to look around at the other options that you got here. You know you do You need to figure out Shelby Harris. You're gonna be okay. Justine Simons. He's gonna get paid by somebody is gonna be here. I mean, it's homegrown. So there's a lot of pieces and a lot of parts that you need to look at before you even get to the draft function of this. And to be honest with you. A new general manager coming in probably isn't going to clean house on scouts and and down roster guys until after the draft because you've already started the momentum on this and this is a covert. You're on top of this, so you're probably going to trust in what you've already seen from internally from your guys over there. Let's say, Let's say it's Chambliss just hypothetically. Your guys in Chicago? You're gonna marry that up with the data that you know. From here in Denver and go from there, then you clean house after the draft. That's when the season starts for front office guys after draft and certainly you also have to believe the vic Fangio's voice in this matters Absolutely often times it isn't necessarily up to the head coach. But in this case, you're giving some power to the head coach to help select The next GM of this team, So I have to imagine that Vic Fangio was a guy pounding the table to keep justice. Seven. Justine Simons to stay in. Yeah, and and he will be well say he will be. Vic Fangio will be back pounding the table at the Justin definitely staying. I think as the new general manager, you have to come in and way. How you going to do this? Do you tag Justine Simmons again? Knowing that he may not play on it. He was really just it was willing and vocal about playing on the tag the first time, right? But second time might not necessarily be that case and officially maybe burned some bridges. That would suggest that if they tag him and don't reach a deal that just will never come back to Denver. I would suggest that that would be The way you need to think about this. Yeah, and the tag is Listen, Players have different feelings on the tag. Some players like a good pay me the gig because it was like watching. Yeah, I'll take two of those Thank you. And everybody else is like I hate this. You know, whatever, but you stand to make more money on it. If you get tagged twice and then get the big deal afterwards. You stand to make more money, but it could be stressful. I mean, you think about this, we're thinking about it in different terms. You're talking about a guy who's gonna feed his family for life. This is not the money that he's gonna make over the next six years. The term limit for these Opportunities for these players is not very long as we know. So, yeah, Another couple questions coming in about Justine Simons because it did seem a the end of his press conference today with the media is about 17 minutes long, and he got there A T and sort of thanking the media and, you know, seemingly as though he was headed out the door. I wouldn't read too much into that. Honestly read too much into that yet that I've been there for those conversations. I've been in the locker room with those conversations when they're thinking the media. Sometimes it does end up where they do leave, like, Remember when Chris Harris was thanks The media. We all knew we knew what was going on. So that was that was a genuine like that. This one is genuine, for sure, but understanding that there's still There's still things in motion that you know, Justin. They want him back like they really do want him back. Sure, changing things up with the GM like change a little bit there, But I think the overall direction and I keep wanting to emphasize that the overall direction with the organization is trying to do. That's why they're maintaining with Vic Fangio. That's why they're keeping things the patch. Shermer because there was a direction results haven't got there yet. But there's a culture thing that's happening that they do like the direction of and that's why they don't want to reset everything. If they're resetting everything, I throw it all up in the air. I say I don't I don't really know what's gonna happen here with Justine Simons. If it was John Elway stepping away completely and not being a part of this thing. It's tough to know they may you know, the next team comes in, says I don't view you as a top three safety in the league. At least I'm not gonna pay you like one and we're gonna move on. But I don't think that's gonna be the case because I think with John Elway and Vic Fangio staying here. That is going to Make the Broncos want to make that work out. The theme of running it back. Seems a bit defeated. If you're going to let your best player walk. Yeah, exactly right. I mean, in the end that that's just what it boils down to you to me, and I'll say, you know, we know a limited you know, a little bit from each side of the house on this from the Broncos, and from from Justin, I I think that they weren't that far apart last year. I know. I think the I think the team was a little over half a million per year light. Real close. Yeah..

"Is that they did some drinking on the plane on the way back. Just Yeah. I mean, that is I mean, that's the most obvious right because listen grid in at the end of the game yesterday, you know, talked about him hitting his his 1000 yards, two years in a row. He talked about car getting 4000 yards passing first time that's been done by a Raider. On then, you know, obviously talked about what wall are Waller did and then Somebody mentioned in the press conference of BK. You were on that press conference, he found out it was the first time he's ever won in Denver. Group him and he said, I'm gonna have a course light on that. So you knew the drink. It was already on the top of the mine. But the reason that I was so hesitant to say anything Joe Joe, it's been outlawed. And NFL. I mean drinking on the team plane. Is no longer allowed. There was them. Listen. I played on I played in the NFL wher You know, guys would have you know a 12 pack at times or you know, that was some that were more aggressive that had as much as You know, a case of beer from the time the game was over into the time we touch back down in Denver on some of the flights, so the NFL I think I knew that this was going on in every organization because beer was given the players after the game. You know, we have the responses everywhere around the NFL. I think that the guys who wanna drink bear can't drink a beer after game is just is just doesn't make sense. But anyway to hear that that happened That's it that that sounds like it's gonna be a heavy, heavy fine. Other Raiders VK You may know more about that situation on how how much defines our what the real rules are, but I mean, this certainly looks bad. On the NFL, and in particular the Las Vegas Raiders. We're to celebrate going eight Nate, but the Broncos obviously last year's looking he did. He did. And obviously we know a little bit about the punishment as it relates to Jacob specifically, and the D U I charge with you I arrest because we know Melvin Gordon, based on His arrest, and we'll see what the actual penalty is legally when he goes back to court. I want to say right around January 15th somewhere in there is when he's going back in court. But you know, it's three games comes with d U I arrest if there's a conviction, and so the what's it gonna be for the same thing? What's it gonna be at the team knowing that he left the team plane and got to doing Well here. I guess the question is what will investigate what happened on the plane. How much drinking was there? Or was Josh Jacobs? Did he have a bottle of whiskey in his bag? You know how how they don't check bags on those chartered flights. So was he drinking with some of his teammates on their own, or were they getting beer that the team supplied or they got from the airline? And so I know that my extinction No. That distinction is a small one, but is one that might save this organization, which is faced embarrassment after embarrassment for their own stupid stuff, taken their masks off it the Darren Waller event. Then everyone getting Cove it at various places seems like on their team. You know, the race is still gonna be the Raiders, and this is another example. Thankfully, it does not like anyone was hurt in this situation. But no, I think so. For Jacob's. It's It's those three games for sure for the team, I think We'll have to find out where the alcohol came from. Wow, B k. That is that is some mean forgot who played in this league and understands exactly what the NFL wanted to do with that policy. That's terrible news At the end of the year. I hope that nobody was injured in the accident. Let me let me speak to this. It says you mentioned this Melvin Gordon having to go through. Hey, did not get to his 1000 yard number having to go through. I still hit the over yesterday. And my best better Just say just for the record, it was over seven out of 10 on apart later defense Touchdown, I would be $1000 richer and a $5 bet. What is the what is the You know, we just talked to John Elway about Um, him having elevated role in, uh, in the GM position, But that also leaves open to very, very important positions and John Address, one of them earlier with von Miller and said that He wants bond to be a Bronco for life. But that's not his decision now and then we know that there is an out of the Denver Broncos with Melvin Gordon because of his disciplinary issues with this d u I What do you anticipate that's going to happen with him with the new GM? I guess. Depends on how much do they like Melvin Gordon the runner. And can you get past those three games? All right, screams still under contract. It'll be his fourth year on his rookie deal. I think they're going to sign Phillip Lindsay like I'm pretty sure I told you guys a couple weeks. Not Phillip Lindsay, Tim Patrick Alexander Johnson are all going to get Second round tenders is my expectation. At least that was the expectation under Elway. I don't know why they wouldn't look to bring those guys back if it has any influence on the roster, specially Alexander Johnson s. Oh, they'll have Phillip Lindsay to handle the load along before extreme and anybody else they draft or Bellamy or whatever, but I think it'll be back. I think you played well enough, at times that will likely face that three answers. We've gone through three and then hopefully be ready to go and chase the 1000 yards again because you're able to see why they signed them. Do they need him? I don't. I don't know, but he was healthier than Philip. So there's that and consistent. He wasn't a game break. It wasn't Derrick Henry, either, but he was consistent. And for the eight million bucks that they paid him last year, 13 guaranteed I think they're gonna bring him back. For eight more next year with von I told you guys that a couple weeks ago that I had heard John Elway wanted him back, and then John said it today, So I felt good about that reporting when I when I said it, it's a question of does this new G. M. C. Von, in the same role, finishing his career here, chasing records paired opposite of Bradley Jump, and how does it Fangio think von fits into his defense with chub on the other side, or do they continue to get by with the Maliki reach of the world and Chuck continuing to grow into His own, and they'll throw one more into that. I did the right a few weeks ago until I realized looking at the money. Karine Jackson. It's a $10 million. Some like that team option if they want to bring him back. I'm not saying there won't even though I mentioned that there's a chance they wouldn't a couple weeks ago, but it's a total team option on that third year for Korea. Boy, that's there. There's a lot of moving parts all in the Broncos have the ninth pick in the upcoming NFL draft. I mean, they've got to get a GM in place because there's a lot of work to be done here..
