"It's going to have a go. Oh, that's sending to a useful pass. Levels for arsenal. Just what the doctor ordered for Mikel Arteta's men. It's a joy to welcome a gentle as a player when World Cup and Euro titles with France, a Premier League with arsenal's legendary Invincibles, as a manager, you break through in the United States of NYC FC, via nice and there's now arrived in that South London cauldron, selhurst park, reveling in life as the manager of the magical Crystal Palace, best pat since McAfee. Oh, mister Patrick Vieira sava. Patrick, anyone who saw you as a player. Remembers an unstoppable force. A gentle could pick opponents apart with passes, often preferred just to run right over them. And you played for an incredible group of managers, Fabio Capello, are some wenger, Roberto Mancini and more. Now you're a manager who is a one you learn the greatest lesson from and what was that lesson. I would have to sit arson at and then because spending 9 years with him and I think this is where I play my best football. And I also was really important to me because he made me grow up as a man and he made me grow up as a player as well. And what I really took from him is this calmness, the way his communicated with me, with all the players, this positiveness, and the way that is delivering those messages to the players. He's been really truth to me about how I need to grow, all the conversation, all the mistakes that I had make on the field, he helped me to manage those difficult situations I went through. And that is something that I try to use today with the players that I'm working with. Palace have so many players who live to express themselves. The inimitable dagger that is Zaha, the cunning, skill kissed Alice. What's the most important skill as a manager to get the best out of them as jazz improvisers while making sure that they play within the collective within your system? Here's about being clear with the role and responsibility. It's about make them understand what this game is all about. It's not about just your individual talent. Of course, it's more easy when you have that talent, but that talent is nothing if you not playing with the players around you. If you don't play as a team, so the communication and the vision of the game that I have is really important to make them understand. Our collective game will allow the individual talent to shy and if they understand that that we will be in a good place to work after on the details to be more competitive, I will say. We speak after palace of unfilled a series of Gritty performances against teams like Manchester United and Newcastle, palace, on which returning to basics with some true defensive defiance, how hard is it for a team like palace to compete in this modern footballing reality in which the big 6. Now a big 7, really, a spending and buying players at a completely different level. I think it makes him make it really difficult for us and for a lot of teams in a Premier League to compete against those top 7. But like palace, we in our football club have the passion and we have a good organization. We have people who care about this football club. So those values are really important for us to keep and those values will help us to compete against those 7 8 teams in the Premier League. Of course, we are not in the same level of scouting players than the top 6 7 teams in the Premier League, but like we did with marguerite with Marco olice, we can identify those young special talent early ages and we can bring them to our football club and we can work with them and they can compete at that level out togetherness our team spirit I will say we allowed us to compete the way we did against Newcastle and against of course united. You're talking about special young talents and one of the joys of 2023 and I may be biased has been watching Chris Richards become the finest Premier League player in Alabama history and Chris made a belated first star after injury, but wasted no time chasing down Anthony and he seems to revel in the Premier League spotlight. Tell us about Chris from the inside Patrick, what do you see as his strengths? And what does he need to work on? This one, when he was at Bayern, we saw a potential there. Of course, when you look at his record, he had a couple of injuries, but we were quite really impressed with his defensive work. Because the way we want to play the game, we ask in our back four, our Central Bank to be quite really good on the ball. And Chris technically can play we decided to bring him to the football club and he's been really unlucky with the injuries because he was quite really challenging. He had a couple of step back, but now he's in a really good place. He's been training with the first team. The last 6, 7 weeks. And he had those two games that he played, and he showed all these potential. Now the challenge for me and for him is to maintain that level. You've got real insight into the American player, their talents, their mental mindset. Are you still encountering a stigma among coaches who haven't been exposed to American players? And there's any part of that stigma still fair in any way. In Germany, I think they understood quicker than anybody else that is a proper talent in the U.S.. And I think in the UK here, the U.S. market will be a market that we have to go as soon as possible to bring those players because there is quality there and hopefully we will bring more than one rich results in our football club in the near future because there is a potential that the game is growing up are still following the MLS quite often. And there's some really, really good players who can come in England or in Europe and to do really well. How could Chris Richards be? I think it will be how much he would be prepared to sacrifice himself to get to the top. He's an international player. He is really smart. He's defending really well. Chris Christie is part of those defender who still like to defend. He will put his head where other people will put their foot is a proper defender. If we manage to stay out of injuries, if he's making the sacrifice a run himself to keep improving himself, he will be a good at the U.S. national team. Last one for you, Patrick. If this arsenal team played your current Invincibles, your 2003 14 of you, Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. What the school be who would win? I think the invincible will win because we have the camp and cherry Henry, of course.

The greatest sight of the season is seeing him fly down the Flank in on goal as if he's on the back of a rainbow spewing unicorn. It's a wonder to welcome from your legal eating arsenal football club, mister bakaya, saka. Hello, America. Some result in the Northland and Derby tell us what were you thinking as you charge towards the byline, session yon for company. You always have so many attacking options, but you decided to whip it in with your right, double doinking it in off defender and loris. What went through your mind? It was intentional, right? You just described it perfectly, man. I think obviously I just wanted to put it across the face and when I looked up, I saw a couple of reflections and it was in the net. So I didn't know what to feel because the whole ground just went silent. Everyone was just like, is it really in and then I saw it? We just went off and celebrated it. The NBA goal celebration, like the Premier League splash brothers. What influenced that? No, I came from him actually. I saw him do it last game. I just wanted to be involved in it. Yeah, yeah, I love the NBA. I was actually at a game last year. You have had a joyous season, play alongside odegaard. Can you describe what it feels like to play alongside him? The artistry with which he plays, the way he makes his decisions, is the truth to the rumor that you and here on the telepathic wavelength. But I think, you know, he's on another level. We know how good he can be and I'm so happy that everyone can finally see and everyone's starting to give him the respect that he deserves. Sacrificing Erdoğan who can Tesla reach again here and he's brilliantly beaten him. Hustler and dreamland early last month, you talked about how one of your big regret to arsenal was never having met us in wenger and unboxing day. You finally got a rectify that you met him for the first time. What does he mean to you and what did he say to him? Yeah, of course he means a lot because I know what he's done for arsenal. When you look at the history, he's a legend and deserves everything good that comes his way and we're always grateful for him in this club. He's wondering what's Troy fees and brought so much joy to this club so of course for me not to be able to meet him was a bit disappointed, but yeah, he was just talking about the World Cup. He was telling me I did well out there and then obviously he was giving me some advice on my game and telling me what I can improve so my first touch, my head then my right foot, you know, things that are not bad but of course if I want to go to another level I need to improve. Question from a fan AFC jovino. If you could play one game with any previous arsenal legend, who would it be in white? I'm in the room with one right now. Freddie lumberg. Me and Freddie on the wings. I'll give you two. Freddie given, who would be the second? Me Freddie and Thierry up front. All right,

"Of three genuine heroes of this show. Here is two Premier League fans around the world. The first Liverpool's audacious scouse American and if you don't believe us that he's part American, just listen to this interview, we're talking of course about Trent Alexander Arnold, then an attacker who delights in leaving a trail of defenders in his wake every time we rules that ball into the net and then hit to jump shot of celebration, arsenal's wonder, bukayo saka finally, a man mountain a gent who has caused a shadow over all midfield hard men have come since. He's the coach of Crystal Palace now, but former arsenal legend, it's Patrick Vieira. And the trio of remarkable human beings all, they brought us such joy. We wanted to combine these conversations, release them as a single podcast in the hope that will lift your spirits too. We should note, you can also find video versions of each of these on our YouTube page where we are currently and furling as much content as we can. His three gents who given so many memories to so many Premier League fans around the world to the pod. My guest today is a gentle lives by a simple creed. Serving others is mantra. How can I assist you today? Fresh off recording as I twist things 63rd assist for Liverpool in a milestone 250th appearance of his boyhood club to joy to welcome a chess grandmaster in football boots from Liverpool football club. It's mister Trent Alexander Arnold. Thank you for that introduction. Oh, trend. You have the ability seemingly to bend space and time. The way we've only seen Doctor Strange match in a marvel comic, when you take possession around the halfway line, there's most Salah, Darwin, Nunes, Bobby chompers running ahead of you and the Robertson barking for the switch on the other Flank, what options do you see? What do you look for? Can you describe what goes through your mind as you make your decision? I think I see everything. The way I like to see the game and the way I like to watch the game is exciting football, you know, I like to watch good pastures, goals, exciting things, so I think when I'm on the pitch, that's what I want to bring to. I want people to enjoy that as well. Are you like a quarterback looking for your first option? Your second option, your third option in that order, or are you just seeing it all in that very second? I mean, I think it does work like that. I think it's hard to break it down because it all happens within a second max. I think you do see the options, but then you make the decision. You unleash passes in the blink of an eye, angles that are really only known to Patrick Mahomes. Is the skill natural or is that product of hours and hours spent in the park as a kid, practicing hitting that same spot over and over and over again? I think a little bit of both, I think, the execution of it is years of practice, like that's the only thing that can give you that. I think that also lays the foundation of belief in yourself. No, I believe that I can play whatever I see. No, if I see something that is difficult, then at least I know I can still play it. If it's physically possible, then I don't doubt myself. So whatever I see, I think, yeah, go on. Did you spend hours searching YouTube as a kid? Watching highlights of a specific player. And was that player late in beans? I used to love watching him. I grew up on that famous Barcelona team. So watching javi Iniesta busquets. It just passing the ball like that was like, there was not a much better. And obviously messy the way he passes the ball goes without saying, so I was watching some special things going on. You've achieved so much in your career for major trophies before even turning the age of 24. Including the Premier League and the Champions League, psychologically, how hard has it been suddenly to adjust? You've said recently that you've been reviewing your own play really mulling it over. Can you explain internally how you're dealing with this period of collective and individual adversity this season? My time weird but I think I quite enjoy it. Obviously I don't wish I don't wish to have invested, but I think I don't hide from it. I think the first time is where you learn about yourself the first time you have to invest and I think what I learned from that is that I almost don't need approval from others. I have that self confidence no matter what, but I'm not oblivious to the fact that there's times when I know I'm not playing well, but still I have that confidence to know that I can be the best player on the pitch. Thick skin in a belief, self confidence, which teammate or coach has given you the best advice about how to deal with this moment of challenge. Really for the first time in your career. It's not one set of piece of advice it's kind of just picking bits and pieces from setting people I've found useful. Just like youth cultures, obviously the manager plays that I'm around senior players and only rubble verge mole. I'm surrounded by world class players, so I'm able to have lived and breathe in a world class mentality environment for years and years now. So I guess that's kind of just rubbed off on me. It's a one lesson about life you've learned from this moment about tenacity in the face of adversity that you pass on to young fans watching. What would you message to them? Especially in an age like this, that other people's opinions don't really matter. I think you can understand whose opinions do matter and who's don't and I think it's important to have that self confidence no matter what. This time when I'm playing playing bad, but I know I'm capable of being really good and it's just a matter of time. Until that clicks back into place and you know people will say things, people will try and bring it down but you know battle through that and you'll learn a lot about yourself. We talking about self confidence, you are one of a number of footballers Anthony Robinson, Kai Havertz, rich Charleston, big verge, who were part of a Kelvin Klein shoot, and I've got to say downtown New York City right now in Union Square, there's currently an enormous billboard of rich alderson in his grundys. When you're part of a campaign like this, how would you tell your Friends and your family that you've done it or do you just say, look, you're going to see a lot of me soon, or do you just let them be surprised? A little bit of both to be fair, fully story, straight after a World Cup, I went to New York, we were like me family, and we girlfriend. So I'm there walking with my mom and Miguel friend. And then just a suddenly a picture of me, emi boxes, just flashes off. And like a man stood next to me, that's the last thing, you know, you don't think of that. You don't think it's stuff like that. You think the rest of the world don't really care, because if they see me, me boxes, yeah, that's whatever. You don't want your mom to see in your boxes. There's just a moment of like, oh, that's a bit strange. How do you think I feel? I'm an evertonian, and I've got to watch you everywhere, all over the city in Europe, these is dart Trent. It is dark. Last question for you. The New York Times reported something that has made American fans often dream about sliding doors, realities. Obviously you're an England national team player, but it is a detail in your biography that may just dream. It's constantly dropped at football pubs across this nation. It's that you are actually eligible to play for the U.S. men's team. Can you tell us the true story of the Trent American connection? The connection is just like my mom's American really that's the only connection.

"Firmly established in the Wednesday team after a spot of job hunting in Britain after his Italian trip. Been traveling a bit and after the World Cup, it was good highlight for me, came over to England, been at Blackburn Rovers, went up to Celtic, and then now Sheffield Wednesday on my way to Wembley. And how does that feel? To be the first American going there, I think, in football. Tyler put down in words really. I mean, it's just a feeling that you have when you step on the pitch every game, you know that the next one you've got to work hard, you know, to get where we want to be. We want to be up in the first division, really. That's our first priority, and then with the Wembley there as well. It's just something to reach for. Oh, that's the greatest American men's play of all time is. That debate, let's let it run for a little, but I did get the chance to talk to a great stealth American this week. Yes, Trent Alexander Arnold, who I found out his mom is proper United States. Yes, Trent is. Or Trent was U.S. men's national team eligible. Here he is talking to me about that. Obviously you are an England national team player, but there is a detail in your biography that made this dream. It's that you were actually eligible to play for the U.S. men's team. Can you tell us the true story of the Trent American connection? The connection is just like my mom's American, really. I love America. I absolutely love America. I think the culture, just the culture of it, is just everything so fun. It's kind of laid back. I want to go exploring America to be honest. Because I always find that I can disguise myself a little bit more than in Europe. And his Calvin Klein underwear commercial here it is. This is roger, hoping you make great memories to football together, let's never take a second for granted. I'll be back Monday, big love, courage, his Trent. Funny story, straight after a World Cup, I went to New York. We were like my family, Miguel friend. So I'm there walking with my mom and Miguel friend. And then just a suddenly a picture of me, emi boxes, just flashes up. And like a mist or next to me, that's the last thing, you know, you don't think of that. You don't think it's stuff like that. "Plate to the kitchen. What do you do that to your guess? Okay, never invite me to your place. You just gotta Craig is tidy as anything. You all right? Do I have to put up all my plates and forks in the dishwasher before leaving your place or if you invite me? For you have to be invited for. Okay, easy even more than yourself. For Craig, who would you start a right at right back for England against Iran? Trippier or Alexander Arnold. I think I would just start to appear in the competition. Right. It's been excellent this season. Yeah, because I just I think when they start flipping a bit of Tim's, you can't I just don't think you can trust them defensively. Right. Yeah, but it gets you ran. Do you need somebody good defensively? I mean, on the right side. Well, I just want to get a run. Yeah, that I understand. That's a good point. Okay. Go on. I might actually surprise you made the squad. Yeah. I really don't think Alexander almond was going to make the squad, but so I'm surprised at that. What is James is not here? Well, walker's in the squad he's had some as Frank la buff. With Ben zamata, how does he predict France will play? Well, without him. Yeah, that's true. Thank you, Frank. Thank you very much. I think they're going to play on the left side. He's going to put jiro out front. I guess Griezmann just behind just behind him as the number ten. And I would say either of them below command on the right side. And two strong guy at the middle of the park. I don't know who he's going to decide and for the back. But yeah, do you want France to win it? I would love to. Really? Imagine that

"Look as if they might be a chance. And I think what one of the things and summed it up for me in an all quite a few of us back for being through the ring and particularly Alexander Arnold was the winner and I know you talked about this yesterday and van bay Van Dyck looked deserve some did nil these two feet to the floor. He didn't even put a block on. He was kind of and then when the goal would end from Somerville, is that throwing his arms up in the air? And that can he summons Liverpool up for me. It's almost late. It's almost for everybody's looking for another facet of the team to blame. Well, the midfielder not doing that. Well, the forwards are not putting the ball in the net. And they'll say, well, the back four are not defended. And all of those things are true. But it looks as if there's a little bit of a blame game going on there. No, they'll say there's no. They'll say there's not. But when Van Dyck's drawing his arms in the air, when he's one of the ones that could be put in a block on, he's been one of the ones set apart that's been per this year. That's a telling story. But as you said it yesterday, it's Nottingham Forest in legion 82 teams in the bottom three and one week. What you're hearing, Joel's. Not things are really bad. I mean, of course, what we see on the page, but also I think players questioning what's going wrong, what's happening wrong. We heard from trying to run and left it again saying this is something that we all have to address individually was so bad was so wrong. And I think once you start as a player, then you're like, okay, why am I doing wrong, but also what is he doing wrong and him and him and him and the manager Andy, then this is where maybe you have to do it, but I think cropper said many times already in season. Oh yeah, we've had a big meeting. Yeah, the players spoke to each other. We got together the training run and we sorted it out. Clearly not because it's maybe as messy to lose against forest and leads back to back than anything that we've seen so far this season. This is a team that not long ago was beating city on film. And now they lose to the team bottom and second or third from bottom. This is just not good enough and you can say as much as you want, we play every three

"Again because a mistake essentially costing city that match is not the way that people would want it to be the two sides, you know, they're very well matched up. But at the end of the day, this is football and this is what it's like going to a place like Anfield. They will punish you if you do make mistakes because as we've seen probably a thousand times over, then push on in second half and score in front of the car. At times, it feels inevitable. And as somebody who's followed city for a while, they've won that twice this century. So let's be clear these moments here for cities. It's almost feels like deja vu and it's a shame as I say, it came from a mistake because of rock and salad this season has been exceptional, but that's the unorthodox nature. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't, and against the best you will be punished for it. Robert, what are your thoughts on it? Exactly as I can in his way, he's got to be he's got to play safe. He can't try and win the ball in that manner and try and win it in Sally's one V one. The ball's been played long. He's got to play safe. He knows he's probably got the same pace as seller. So he's got to try and defend it with seller in front of him. He made a mistake, Sal it goes through and scores. And nedam is absolutely absolutely right. When man city go to Liverpool, Liverpool about the only side that you can see rattle Manchester City. I saw Athletico Madrid do it last year, but the atmosphere, whatever it is, the referee allowing one or two challenges to go as well from Liverpool. The crowd getting behind the team, the game becoming a bit fragmented, the game becoming a bit volatile. That suits Liverpool and not men city and man city seem to always struggle at Anfield because of the sort of intensity that livable player. So it was a good result for Liverpool, of course it was. Yeah, clean sheet for Liverpool as well, robbo. You've been saying for a while at Trent Alexander Arnold, isn't good enough at the back. This game, we saw James Milner playing at right back. Is it a coincidence that it was a clean sheet for Liverpool? Well, it's surprising that they get a clean sheet when you've got a right back that actually wants to defend and knows how to defend and wants to recover and wants to see danger and wants to put his foot in. You know, Alexander Arnold over the last three or four years. He's a great player going forward. He gets lots of assists, but don't play him as a right back. Or if you are going to blame as a right back, he's got to do the right things. He's got to get back into position. He's got to be better in one V one situations. And Jürgen Klopp can't keep making excuses from. He's a right back first and foremost. If you're not going to tell him to defend or show him how to defend, then playing somewhere else, blame is the right wing. As he did when he brought him on in the second half in the 90th minute, I think Liverpool are better side defensively when he's not playing. Nathan. Yeah, I would agree with that. And I think you heard club recently talking about how, you know, wherever he would be as manager. He loved stuff trying Alexander Arnold and he said. So I want to see if there's a man of his word unless he's going to be at Liverpool for the next ten years. As manager, then yeah, see him go somewhere else if he wants him, or if maybe some of those defensive frailties are actually more of an issue. And James Milner can do a job can do a job anywhere. But you don't necessarily see it as a long-term plan. And I'm sure Trent Alexander will come back in. But he had these defensive issues. This is like everyone's biggest problem with him. And I think it's an interesting position whereby you sort of ignore that because you say, oh, it can get across in or you know, he's got an eye for a pass. As some stage, you know, defending has to come first, especially when science can be so equally matched. I don't think that's kind of what we saw with concealer making that mistake at that point. And if China has Under Armour was playing that game, you probably would have seen city, maybe you go ask him just that bit more. So yeah, it's a big decision for Klopp at some point, maybe kind of making best or maybe he's decided this is just what it is. And it won't matter for most of the season, but in the key moments you hold for them that it doesn't in terms of the odds make has not much has changed from Manchester City. They are still big favorites for the title, but arsenal

"You should let me know. I would say that Eddie Garcia's situation, there is an obsession. It has to be an obsession at this point by shabby in a persistence and insistence on saying, this guy gives us something in terms of playing out of the back. Now see, defending, and I'm not a defender. What I'm going to assume that defending is about defending first. Being able to close people down. When challenges, when balls in the air, being able to read the play and step into positions where now you can make a tackle. Those things, Eddie Garcia doesn't do consistently well. He doesn't. And we've been talking and spent a lot of time talking about Alexander Arnold in regards to defending. Well, at least Alexander Arnold gives you an option going in the attack. We're going to see a dozen do that. He only plays the ball out of the back. Oh, look, he plays a ball forward. My goodness, if that's the standard, if that's the bar that you have to clear in order to play center back for Barcelona, then everybody could play for whatever song. I play the ball from here to there 15 yards complete the ball to get my job is done. You're great. He sometimes has been preferred to run a la Rao because of that very reason. The fact that he's able to find the ball from here to there into the midfield. Are you kidding me? The difference between runner and Rahul, and then he got to see his gigantic and run it out if he were healthy he would have played this game. But Eddie got to see it can not be the starting center back for Barcelona for Manchester City for Spain or for anybody who considers an elite team around the world. "Still trying to prove the everybody that he can play. And of course, you know, when you're when you don't have that composure, then you don't see the picture clearly. Then that's the reason you don't figure out that there's three of you against one and you don't figure out and you don't lift your head and you don't see that Salazar on his own. Experience and reason your game and learn and get in that composure. That's what was missing in those two. There was another one as well, as you said. So it's about Nunes, gaining experience, or more experience, and somehow it has to figure out how that how to lift his head and see a clear picture. That's the one thing that he doesn't have right now. And that's the key to it all. Stevie, it's a big game though, and he's not in the starting 11. As your big money guy, like big picture, how worried are you about what we're seeing from Nunez at Liverpool? No, I'm not worried. No, it's all. Listen, he's learning he's learning his trade. He has great qualities. You don't want to defenders don't want to play against him the way he is right now. And I believe he's going to get better. So this guy's going to be great. This guy's going to be absolutely. Well, he's a handful right now as it is. The one thing that's missing is that final ball, that final decision, but that, in my opinion, will come. No, there's no guarantee it will come, but I expect it to. So I am not worried about Darwin Nunez, not at all. That might have been a bit of a head scratcher, but he wanted to please allow a little bit more centrally for mineral a little bit deeper. And one of the things about Roberto Firmino, and it's set up for less game is that he's not been having his best time in the last 6 to 12 months. But few, forward players work as hard as him defensively. Now, when man said to her generally dominate games, get the ball, you need those forward players. They can't be stood up there watching the game watching all the other guys running around chasing the ball. You've got to go back in and mock in. He's one of the best at working back in midfield and when in the ball but what do you think this leaves? I think we have to actually give a lot of praise to clock because he got a lot of things ready today. I certainly didn't expect. He did. James Milner wrote back. I certainly didn't expect Gomez sent her back. I didn't expect to play one up front and three behind with the two. So he got all of those things right. And he got the personnel, you know, you're talking about. Maybe if you're going to play two, three, one, you play something new up front, but he didn't. You know, he plays Salah, but again, it gets everyone ready because when they lost the ball, pretty much they had 5 in the middle of the park, which makes it even harder for the opposition and today it was city. No, the fact that Liverpool will not keep that high lane and would drop in, means there's more running for the midfield. There's more run in for that 5 I'm talking about, which leads to but guess what? So for me. So you can keep doing that. Yeah, I think now, because and Craig mentioned that it's a real reference that game for the red. They have no excuses. Now, because they play three days ago, even if they want against in chemistry, whatever. They found the freshness that they needed. But they don't have any excuses. They beat maybe the best team in the world right now. My strategy is the best team in the world. In the way they play, it's impossible to cope with, but it did today. In many ways, everywhere, any every line. Therefore, they don't have any excuses. If we don't see what we saw today is because they're not switched on. I mean, we saw what we saw two years ago. And even the fans, today, they switched on. It was a different atmosphere. It was an atmosphere from two years ago. When everybody was very Henry and now they have to show us that the capable of doing the same, we can we cut because we know they've been able to do so that they have to copy what they were able to do two years or three years ago. They've got to take it forward. I think the forward line was a clever way to set it up. I think the backline was more forced on them. Had injuries. You could argue that Alexander Arnold who had the ankle injury arsenal wasn't a 100% fair, although he was fit enough to go in the bench and a great debate whether he would have started anyway. But that was solid. Absolutely rock solid. I think we should never. I don't think we should underestimate the role of Van Dyck, because I think that a lot of the critics has been on trend Alexander Arnold, and fair enough that he got his weaknesses. We know that there have been known to us for many, many years. But he has kind of been covered all these defense problem because Van Dyck has been excellent. And Van Dyck, we have to be honest. It hasn't been excellent. This season, not at all, but today he was world class and as the boys are saying. And I think that that sets us so an example when Van Dyck is doing what defender should do defense, start by defending do the proper defending. When you saw before the game, when the two lines were there, one on each side, the two teams, you

"You know, they didn't have this crazy high line that they've been, they've been doing not just this season, but I think they've been getting away with it for a long, long time, and this season it just fell apart. So they got rid of that. The full backs didn't get caught ahead of the ball. It was kind of it was old school defendant is what it was. Two full bikes, don't get caught too far forward. And then the key. And I think this is something that caught has to remember about this game. The key to this is that Liverpool, whenever there was no pressure on the ball, whether de Bruyne had it, or anybody else, they dropped off. And that's why they couldn't get in behind them. So old school defendant club needs to remember that, but for me, that absolutely was the reason why the oneness game in the end. Stevie, you're very focused, obviously, on the defensive performance, how much of that has to do with the fact that Trent Alexander Arnold didn't start. Unfortunately, for him, had everything to do with it. You know, because the guy's not a natural fullback. And we saw that when you keep a backlight together and doesn't get doesn't get separated, pretty much for most of the game, they go forward together, they go back together, everything they do is together, something that has been harmed and certainly something that hasn't been happening with Trent Alexander Arnold who I spoke about the full back's not getting caught ahead of the ball. Well if there's one thing that happens all the time with trend as he gets caught ahead of the bowl. And so that didn't happen. And they get the victory. The question, no, is. What is clock do which Alexander Arnold? Do you stick with, do you stick with this back lane that doesn't gamble, particularly when there's no pressure on the ball? And do you stick with a pair of full backs? Who don't go challenging up the field every single minute of every single game? Because if you include and Trent Alexander Arnold, you're not getting the defensive shape and the defensive ability that you got to do. Put on your manager hat, Stevie, what would you do? Well, I'd also I really don't think he's got a choice. You know, at the end of the day, close get a responsibility to win games. For the players for the fines for these for these bosses for everybody at Liverpool. And if his thought is right, what is the best way forward? Then I'm afraid that the best way forward is not playing Alexander Arnold at ray back. You know, you need to figure out if you want to play them. You try them on that right hand side and the three. If you're going to play with three. Or if you're going to have two in front, do you play on one of the three that are in behind the launch striker. So he's got a lot to think about. Personally, when you've played Alexander Arnold, and you played the way they've played, you've lost games. All of a sudden, you found you found a formula, and you found a partnership in Gomez and vine day, which what, two and a half years ago, before Gomez picked up that bad injury. Was actually very, very successful, because Gomez did not feel back here. So he's got a lot to think about, but if I'm him, I'm sorry for no, Trent Alexander doesn't start. Are we picking on the wrong guy here? And Alexander Arnold? Do you think Craig? Not picking on him. It's just a question of will he come back? Are we wrong to focus on him then? I think the answer is no. Sorry, the answer is coming back and this side is no. You've just kept a clean sheet and looked the best you've looked defensively against the best attack in the Premier League. Maybe in Europe. As the most solid of what for James Melrose, apart from the goalkeeping possession, maybe sent a half as well, but you can pretty much put them anyway. It's an amazing professional. I thought what typified it for me was the clearance from Van Dyck and the second half towards the end when Nell and Holland was about to end from a yard. It was switched on. And the Liverpool have not been switched on and they were just switched on today. It was the reboot that they needed. It could have gone either way. This could have demolished the rest of the season. Or it could have rebooted them, and it's the reboot. It wasn't quite vintage clock of the best, but it was a damn sight course and certainly closer than it's been. As Stevie's touched on all these things, they had a really good shape about them. We talked in med week about getting a defensive midfielder in there to get some protection. There was no surprise for being your

"This is part of the problem, not just for his own or but in general for South Gate with his team and with his quads. And I would, I think it would be really sad if trying to extend the honor was not going to the World Cup and right now, let's be honest. Unless there's an injury to either trip here walker or James, he's not going to go, which again, I really struggled to understand. Ironically, for Alexandre with all the discussion, just primarily been about his defensive capabilities or lack of them. If you play a bike and you have wingbacks that is less no responsibility, but less responsibility to defend. Because you've got a right sided sent them back on that side, there's a little bit wider than a normal center half would be. And so you generally don't have to talk in as much, which is a big part of Alexander Arnold's problem is positional play. It's poor. Has a wellness of what around at times is poor. But if you have a back three, then it is less of an issue to worry about because you've got at least ten bucks. Now, understandably, as Joe was saying, rich James, even in that possession, seems preferred, because he's a little bit, he's got a little bit more bought. I mean, he's certainly not got the attacking capabilities, although he's good, but he certainly stronger defensively. I mean, rich Jim's himself could play right side of the center back, has done before. And as an option. But I agree with you to not have somebody of his talent. You could bring him off the bench for set pieces for as a white player even with a full bar behind them and just say, if you get it out there, I want you to get balls in the box for Harry Kane. He's just an option all around. I understand there are worries about making mistakes at the back. But the way south gets playing and I don't think that will change because dials playing a three at Tottenham and it looks that he'll be the middle guy, the experienced guy, and he's not going to play in a two. So it looks like you go that way. There's even more reason to say, listen, we could maybe go with Alexander Arnold was certainly have him on the bench because we've got a bit more cover. But I don't think he will. I think he's made his mind up and I think Alexander Arnold might not even make for somebody so talented might not even make the plane to Qatar. And given what we've seen between the relationship in Southgate and Alexander Arnold, that seems a fair statement name. Yeah, he certainly does something that doesn't. I think when we look at Alexandra, for me, when he says absolute best, although he's part of that Liverpool system, you can see him play with a bit more freedom. You could see him popping up maybe something more centrally. Sometimes he goes on overlap, sometimes he's coming short. He's looking for those long passages those direct passes, those good balls in those quick free kicks. And that stuff there is probably the antithesis of antithesis of what Southgate wants from his team. You know how they're going to be playing whether you like what you don't. This is three at the back, it's going to be those two midfielders. They're going to be the two wingbacks and going to be those three up front straight trying to stretch the game. That's who they are. And he must be doing something in training consistently over the years, which may be Southgate just doesn't like and he's not having. And I think that's sort of maverick nature. That makes some people love a player, but then unfortunately, as this innocence here, the other side of it is that Southgate maybe doesn't. And at the end of the day, having seen the news headlines recently, I saw Frank was talking about his defensive liabilities and then real Ferdinand said he shouldn't be allowed to do that. World Cup winner being told by real Ferdinand to not talk about Alexander Arnold's defending Mia's former QPR captain while I will say sports great great balls into the box and defensively. I can not comment because obviously I've not defended enough to know what to say to him. You've never man Ronaldo and woke up final. What was going on? Let me see one thing about hansie here. I was a little surprised. Berlin remained little isani has been arguably having I wouldn't say the best. The old Sonny again started this season. We were really sharp, really quick and product running at players. And yet it has Hoffman on that side, the German right hand side, when he's got zero designing on the other side of floating around a little, but I would have had him out. Because the left side, you've got Maguire and you've got Shaw and I'm for the shaker repeat Michelle. Everybody in the world knows they're not playing. They're not playing in the black sharpness. They don't have been saying, let's isolate those two. Let's stick the ball out to them. Let's switch it out to them. Isolate them and let zani gore Shawn McGuire. But the left Hoffman out there didn't do a lot wrong, didn't do a lot, right? Got taken off. I just didn't understand. That's my clinical statement. You've got to focus on weak points, but the boys were saying earlier, if it's Nick Pope and he's not good with the ball at his feet, try and play in that. It's Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw lacking game time. You've got to play in that.

"However, as important as a duel as you're talking about here with Vinicius and Alexander Arnold, we simply forget that you've got two full bikes that Real Madrid have that in my opinion are not particularly brilliant defenders either. And one of them is up against Diaz and guess who the other ones up against. So as is important for Liverpool as Vinicius is handled, it's just as important for Real Madrid that they are too full bikes don't get left one on one. With Liverpool's attackers because it's the same argument ball shades of the field. Marsala and Diaz kids Mandy and carvajal. So if you want to look at a positive point of view for Liverpool, it's two V one. Because there's only Venice on one side because as Ali said, Valverde, 100% is going to be in there to do that that job that Ali was talking about. And I'll bet your crops are already picked their team. Never mind angeloi. Couple of pectoral team and what you saw on the board that the boys put up, 100% will be their team. Because trends obviously being asked about it, he was in one of the pretty much press conferences this week, just the latest one, actually. And he did mention, you know, there's going to be battles all over the pitch. We've got a plan anyway in this specific battle, trends against who's coming out on top LA. A lot of it will depend on the moments of transition for both teams. Train Alexander Arnold likes to get forward. And I think Liverpool depends on his service from that right hand side. And so if he's indeed given the freedom to receive the ball in the attack in half and have the ability to serve the ball for Liverpool, and venise is nowhere to be found, that means that venetus is cheating defensively. If Real Madrid do not address that, train Alexander will continue to park himself in that sort of position and favino will cover for Alexander Arnold. That's going to be the logical move for Liverpool. And that, okay, once trend goes up, favino Ben covers Venus junior. If anesthesia, as we said, is going to achieve defensively. But then he has the ability to be isolated. Attacking that space, attacking fabinho. Attacking trend in transition, it means that grandmother has been able to force turnovers through the midfield. And that's where Real Madrid is going to find either success or difficulties. If they're not getting close enough to people, defensively through the midfield and they're not able to force those turnovers, then vini junior parked up top. It's not going to help you because you don't have the outlet. You don't have the ball to find the outlet. That is a key for me. Not so much train against Vinny is what do we win here in the midfield so that then we can either find trend going one way or Vinnie going the other way. If you for trans Alex trying to send around no back, now Liverpool, I think, looser now let down the right hand side. And that's beneficial for Real Madrid. I understand that we want to make this one V one. But one V one only becomes important if you're able to control the possession of the ball and force turn over in the right areas. Just out of interest as a defender, how are you trying to defend against Vinny? Well, you bring him in, say, to where all the traffic is. Listen, if you know he's too, if you know he's faster than you, you can't give him the ose, because you're just not compassion. He doesn't need to do 16 airports. And three triple salkos, you know? This is a final. Football is a simple game that's complicated by players sometimes. You know, if I know I can outrun the guy I'm playing against for fun, then I just not get past them. So you can show me outside. You got to try and take them somewhere where it becomes two V one or three V one. Or you just take them inside where, as I said, all the bodies are and then you get help. But at some point, Trent is going to have to show some toughness, defensively. I know it's not natural to him. But he's going to have to show some toughness defensively because the one thing that we know about Venus junior is that he's going to keep coming at you. He may do the triple Sal Kyle. He may do the ten step overs and he may lose it ten times, but then there's going to be an 11 time where he's going to try it again. He's going to keep coming. He's going to keep putting pressure on you. And if trend is not up for it, then I think grandmother have an advantage. The key is what Alice had a bit fabinho. Because do you think for one second that Klopp and his staff and everybody, by the way, anybody watching again knows the trend Alexander one on one defendant. It's not his game, but you know what? They understand that what they get from him going the other way. They're happy. To take that on, they are happy to see to themselves right. Because of what we get for this guy going forward, we'll accept what is deficiencies are and with fabinho, we will try and help him and help the team by getting him over there to block whoever is against them. It's just a fact. We all know it. But you've just got to encounter. And that's where the hamstring comes in for fabinho be correct. You know, the one that didn't use the LA when we were talking about it is stress. The stress you get in a proper game is completely different to when you're training and running, because the stress level isn't there. So when that muscle goes, that's when the stress level just takes off. Yeah, a lot of key battles and more talk about them on the latest gab and.

"In the case of Valverde, in particular. When you look at Real Madrid and you look at that midfield that I just mentioned, if they're controlling the game, if they're controlling possession, everything is good. Everything is smooth, but if they're in a back and forth, you need speed. Not like speed when they're being attacked. And that midfield does not like speed around them. And so you need athleticism. Where do you get that athleticism is from federal, where the because he's able to cover the ground offensively, but more importantly, he's able to cover the ground defensively where he can give you help. He can add numbers to that midfield for Real Madrid. The other thing that you do in starting by where the hero Rodrigo is, if you need a spark of the bench, you have it in Rodrigo. If you need somebody to change the game, he has proven that he can change the game that he can be a difference maker. You don't want to limit yourself. If you put Rodrigo out there, then who changes the game for you if you're around Madrid when you need it late in the match. When you're chasing, what do you do? How do you react if you have limited options? I think from both perspective, it makes sense for car ranchero to start federal revenue. And then there's a huge feeling for many that a big part in this game will be who wins that battle between venetia junior and Trent Alexander Arnold. First of all, who do you think is going to get the better of who's going to come out on top and as Mark says, do you think it will have a factor on the outcome of the game? Well, there's a couple of answers to give you here. And I'll answer the question you asked, right? Which is junior gets the ball consistently and gets after either a the space that Alexander Arnold leaves or gets one on one wheel Alexander Arnold, there's only one winner. And it's not Alexander Arnold..

"But I think it's going to be Valverde. So Vinicius junior could be the threat to break the off sideline, not Benzema, but that is a problem. The other problem is, of course, never right back who's a great footballer, but doesn't want to defend. It doesn't even have a defensive thought in his head at times. And I mean, Frank, you weren't here yesterday, but we were talking. We were asking Robert probably some of the matchups that he can't wait to see. One of those video junior, I'd probably try and Alexander Arnold. What about you? What do you think? It might be the key of the game, because of course I'm sure this is going to use that. As Robert said, Benzema is going to come short. And finishes and maybe I think Rodrigo is going to come behind the defense in the central defense. It's up to either a battle in Puerto Rico or Alexander Arnold for Vinicius to cover. But Alexander doesn't like to do that, it doesn't like to look beyond him, and that's going to be the case. And there's going to be the key, sorry. And it's up to, I think, the central defenders to cover him. And to anticipate that. Otherwise, they're going to have big troubles. And speaking of Liverpool defenders as well, Frank, this is your forte. There's a certain man there called Karen Benzema. If you're going in and you have to mark him, how do you stop him? Because this is a man with experience and he's clearly having the best season of his life. How do you stop someone like that? You know, that question has been asked to me in 1980 by Ronaldo. And I say, well, you know, it works, you know? It did work. And sometimes I think you can have a good day and you have to make.

"There was once in the first half where there was a ball in behind and he came from right back, came all the way across across the park and intercepted that part. And I broke up, I can't remember exactly who it was. But that's kind of woke up. And we're selling. And that's how good he is. So then when you see him get exposed by as good a pass as it was, as good a run as it was by Sadio Mané, all of a sudden that stands out because you realize how good a right back he is and how difficult it is to catch them all to position because he's so quick. We know that trend Alexander Arnold isn't great defensively seeing that he's been a whole lot better lately. He's always been good going forward, but then he gets exposed. And you see it. And it's the marking I think the criticism, again, kind of recognizes how good the opponent is. There aren't many teams in world football, never mind just a Premier League, who will get quite kind of walk out of position. There aren't many teams in world football who will expose Trent Alexander Arnold as often as city did. So while you criticize and Van Dyck and I agree with Frank, but we talking about Van Dyck. That performance was good for 99% of Santa box in world football. The highest level. But all of a sudden you see him know and you just think it's not looking like what we expect oven. So while the criticism is real and it's valid, I think you have to recognize it for who it is and how good both these teams are at exposing the smallest of opportunities. You know what your thoughts on it? I was just thinking as Shaq was talking there about I wonder what the situation would have been in that game if Manchester City had elfinger Holland. Not Alfie Holland here of course earlier. But they're likely to get him next season. He surely would have put a couple of those chances in the first half into the back of the net. And I thought they may be just suffered from that. You saw Sterling as well, didn't you? Have that chance in the first half and Alison makes the save from him and they identical chance that Mali had he puts it in the back of the net. So, you know, I think Liverpool are that little bit more ruthless in attack. So one point between the two after that two two draw as I mentioned and now 7 games left many saying that Liverpool have.

"Some people felt very strongly that that should have been a red. So I thought it was a red straight away. I did think it was a red and then watching the replays I just thought it was just quicker than kaita, who is not far from getting the ball and after that he can't stop his movement when he's 90% already in if you see what I mean. I don't know why I cater could have done. To not touch salad bar, for example. And I didn't see much outcry either from the Chelsea players of Thomas Tuchel. Yeah, to me that was just a game thing. What one for you? I thought Alexander Arnold had a terrible game defensively. And I thought a lot of time Chelsea were going on to his right hand side. They left hand side that a lot of time he was off position. There was a lot of room behind him in his back. And they almost took advantage a few times a few times on that. Not all the time, but even the runs, some of the runs that the chessie players made. Did you see this? Do you agree? Do you see what I mean? Or is it just me? Looking too closely Alexandra, then maybe because it gives so much offensive leader. This is part of it, and it didn't get much help, let's be honest from Henderson, who I thought had a very average game as well. I think with Alexander, it's always going to be an issue. I think defensively, not because he's a bad guy. He wants to be bad defender, but because it's so important for him to offer that creativity going forward, especially in a game like this and we'll talk about in a minute where your one creative midfielder Thiago contara isn't there, right? So who's going to provide the creativity? It's got to be Alexander Arnold. I think there was also some element because obviously it was on Alonso's side. Where he figured, Alonso is not as slow as people think. He's just a tall player. And so you need to get up ahead of steam. I think Alexander Arnold was very confident in his recovery ability. On Alonso. By that left gaps when you got mobile people behind. And getting into those areas. I think that was a lot of it. I think Matt did actually did a pretty good job in helping to help you to cover him. But clearly that was going to always going to be the vulnerable spot. The plan was clearly for harvest to move this trend didn't know if he had to follow policy, what Alonso was coming and salad doesn't really defend either. And then harvest was also in that position. So I thought I thought it was very interesting from again. It's a no brainer to target that side of the pitch. Another refereeing point, I want to make because I really like the guy really like Harvey Elliott. I love the way obviously I felt for him when he got injured. I just midfielder. However, when you have that Trent Alexander Arnold, Kai Harvard's incident. It's normal for people to come around. Harvey Elliott should know, he was very lucky not to have picked up a yellow there. The first person who comes in and shops, especially after they put their heads together. Kind of moves his head to one side. It's over. To coin and shove, if you do that in a European game, you'll get a yellow. You might even get a red, right? The person throws himself to the ground. I think that's a teachable moment. I wouldn't be surprised if club said, hey, don't do that. It should take the example of Tony rudiger, of course. He's always involved in those. He comes so quickly. Never gets booked, but always like he's staring and talking and you know, don't touch me and this and so good. I love that movie. Because you know Miller is like mister super nice guy. Mister Brown. And yet it's like no no he's had a little bit there on that one. I wanted to, I just wanted to touch upon Jack on contenta because we were talking about this before all fair. The whole reason he was signing, I didn't love the Jaguar counter assigning not because he's a good player, but because he's not a durable player because he gets into danger. Now obviously clock brought him in because he said, this is a guy who in certain games with the opposition parks the bus when Bonnie and Saleh aren't winning their one on ones all the time when China Alexander Arnold isn't inventing from the right. I need somebody who can create midfield. And he looks at his midfielders and they all have other skill sets, right? Definitely. So he's there for games like these. He's there for these games. He's there for champions and games. He's, on the other hand, he breaks down and all of a sudden you see how much the midfields suffers. We could have seen a different game. Maybe yes, only in the way Liverpool could have controlled the game a bit more at times. This was great. He was so like from one end to the other to the other to the other. I think chago puts his foot on the ball and then managed to control it almost by himself. And I think you lost that. I think that had a big negative impact on Henderson. I think he also and you saw his tears on the bench. The only issue I had is like, for him to get injured in warmup, where you do, I know you get ready for the game, but you do it's a light warmup, right? Yeah. It was really, really not fully failed. So what, did they bring him back to quickly last week, for example? Should he not even have been on starting? So then had he been only on the bench, you could have brought him in for the last half hour, which would have made an hour with extra time. And would not be wiser to do that than try to start him. If he breaks down in warm up, I take your point, I'm always very wary because obviously we're not doctors and if we were a doctor, we have an exam in Chicago and even then even if we are doctors at examiner, you realize with sports doctors. Ten different opinions, right? I'm not saying that they're frogs because look, they're very important what they do. But lawyers and doctors now. No, no, no, lawyers are just bad people. Doctors are good people who have different opinions. Just fine. Fine enough. It's a fuzzy science. All I would say though about Chicago is you look at his record throughout his career. Not for sure. He doesn't play 30 he's played 30 games a season. I'm just a couple of times in his career. That's a problem. I think is an issue. And if there's a weakness to this Liverpool side, it's the lack of alternative to Chicago. Many games they don't need them, this one, I think they could have used them. I know you love talking about substitution. So let me ask you this. I heard somebody say on television yesterday that oh, Liverpool substitutions made Liverpool worse, Chelsea substitutions made Chelsea better. Is that a little simplistic? I think he was a little simplistic, although watching the game. You noticed how an incredible bench this is from Chelsea. And that Liverpool have not such a strong bench. They've got different players. If you bring Javier or James Miller, they're good players. They know your system really well and how it works. And they would be good for you. I mean, if you bring Lukaku Verna, and I know one of those things is not because they've got burned in Georgia. Who's the odd man out here, George? I did think that Jesse were better in the extra time because of the superstition..

"alexander arnold" Discussed on Ringer FC
"Unhappy in the context of that. The other game sporting bishop four nil, which means that they are level on points with Dortmund. So I actually expect augment to beat both bishops and sporting. Sporting might be the one that's a little bit tricky because Dortmund are away and then they have bishops at home. .8 sporting will be, I think will be enough to see them through because I expect them to be pushed at home in the final group game. Yeah. Let's jump to Anfield Group B Liverpool to Atleti nil. Wow, this was this was really impressive from Liverpool. Liverpool's so good. There's so the weekend's performance as well. And maybe we'll save our tips for the Champions League. Yeah, when we know the groups, right? But at the moment, they're definitely one of my. I let you actually started fairly well. They attacked pretty well. But it was just like the moment Liverpool wanted to raise the tempo. It was actually some of the united thing actually. The moment liberal decided, we're going to go at these. They did it, and actually the delivery from Trent Alexander Arnold was. Sublime, like both of both the assist he gets both first officers. Those assists are astonishing the first one is arguably the worst type of delivery because it's maximum difficulty for the center backs and maximum simplicity for the attacker. The fact that ball bounces is great because it means you haven't got to worry about meeting in the air. It means it's setting up for you. And that's all deliberate from Alexander Arnold and also when he hits the ball. The genius of it is actually to be honest, there's no difference.

Liverpool's Mountain to Climb
"The big game in the premier league today. It was liverpool against chelsea liverpool. Losing one nil. They've now lost five straight home league games for the first time in club history. Stevie nickel how has it come to this. Oh my goodness well as being a slippery slope I remember sitting here. What thirteen games ago liverpool. It's operatives league they had west brom coming up at newcastle coming up. They had only coming up. And we're talking about who's gonna stop liverpool routine in this tale. Thirteen games live like the forgotten how to play a front three. It destroying any defense was from can seem t- holiday short and i mean one show on goal today whole tells you the problems liverpool have going forward and of course we can say is unlucky so only so many times defensively but when you've got an this game today to defend with experience of of alexander arnold and forbidden new causing the goal then you can excuse so listen a team that feting games ago was straightened towards the title has gotten to the stage where this is not a surprise. This is actually when the final whistle went today. I wasn't surprised because this team is playing like a team that struggling as getting results like a team struggling and guess wha the struggling and is going to continue. I don't see an end to done given the problems that they have indefens- should club using more pragmatic approach. Not really. i agree with stevie exactly the same when they add west brought new castle after the seven zero win against crystal palace all it would move in weeks for liverpool. Thought stride clare. We can't keep blaming injuries because defensively it's never really been a problem. Little put off the power from man. City it's offensively where you start now live you. Think they all shot-shy the top end of the pitch. There's no confidence whatsoever. Most salga dragged off tonight Shutters huckabee rush back for beano to be rushed. Saudi-omani doesn't the same laugh. You can't reach them. What he does in terms of he's linka play but all of that's just not enough at the moment and liverpool. And i think you heard in new york and companies pressed hartford's afterwards. He looked absolutely shot. Looked deflated yoga club. The players the fans. I think they just want this season because a sudden it's disaster

Liverpool hit their stride in victory at Tottenham
"Six place firs hosting fifth-placed liverpool and this match did not disappoint liverpool running out three one winners for me. no alexander. Arnold monitor the scores for liverpool hoi with a brilliant goal for spurs but that's all they could muster liverpool then move into fourth jump west ham. Four points off the league lead spurs sitting six eight points behind league leaders manchester city. Steve nicol shocker. His life jurgen klinsmann with us tv. How good we're liverpool. Today i think on the team were there. Were excellent. you talk about open attack football. That's exactly what you go. You talk about creating chances. That's what you saw you got. Three goals disallowed and you other opportunities that maybe could have made this school lane way. Bigger than actually funny stop is with your first and six choice a box and then james melda then five year old. He's probably fourth choice in the middle of the park. I mean what performance really to dispose and play the way they did School the goal fantastic performance. You're going to attack has been slipping of late liverpool. What was the difference in this one. Well the defense was Liberal group created more chances and finish them off as well. I mean who who knows what would have happened. If someone's goal in the third minute would have been a regular goal by divorce rightfully so it was disallowed. But if that would have been the lead for spurs maybe different story. But i think than liverpool really controlled the game Scarlet three beautiful goals. Even if you know part A spurs pack but they never created enough throughout the ninety minutes. It was obviously a big blow to lose hurricane at halftime if injury again so deserved victory from liverpool cobble of outstanding performances from their side. I look at Tiago first and foremost he played an incredible game and obviously they have their strike spec scoring going forward shock. Oh what are you. Come away from this match. More impressed with what liverpool did or disappointed in spurs performance impressive what liverpool dead given given the issues that liverpool had come into the coming into this one as tv rightly pointed out. But at the same time. Don't don't let that disguises five. That i am hugely disappointed with so much about spurs on the performance today against this liverpool team who you know kind of makes if the time i thought spruce threatened to dominate the midfield. Because never pool. Don't have any real Baldwin's in their own midfield as as always with sonnen key and In they're talking line. They looked so bad on the counter attack. Key don't missy has to come off but then you look at what liverpool dead or semi spinach allowed them to do and the buildup to the first on robinson is allowed ten yards into the swiss hard before anybody thinks about getting clueless to picks out the pasta. The one player who's been running behind them all game long. And then it's a defensive mystique by dial for the second goal. Laurie should have done better tough but he wrote on should have done better And in the end despite the fact that maybe you can Yourself with the fact that he three goals three defensive mistakes liverpool despite all issues were by far the best team. You're gonna any issues. The spurs approach sounded well in all. They obviously almost called the goal. It was allowed for for someone. But then throughout the entire game that didn't create create enough hurricane until he obviously was subdued then because of the injury Was never really into the game. And it's it's just simply not enough liverpool. Look like they could score. You know every minute. I mean we had a couple of opportunities already in the first half and Obviously when you didn't have individual mistakes can happen in philly especially in the first two roles then You really look bad at the end of the day. Stevie i suppose proof today the an order for them to win games. They can't go to over the proper football team and we can't in utah men behind the ball. Then they can do that and it can break on you. But this became an open game and can't do an and jozies komo after the game and pretty much has not had one world appraiser liverpool only said is all the mistakes they made. Well let's say the mistakes and made is because of the pressure would because they were so open that the defenders can't handle it and liverpool school goals so listen supposed to meet today proved exactly what thought torty taw against the proper team. Not good enough. They have they have to sit down with the ball and try and be clever and get on the attack.

Liverpool Crash and Burn
"Liverpool losing to burnley by final score of one nil a late penalty for ashley. Barnes the difference and this result significant on so many levels for matches in a row without a goal in the league for liverpool a sixty eight match. Home unbeaten streak snapped. You gotta go back to early. Two thousand seventeen almost four years ago for the last time liverpool lost a premier league game at anfield. They now six points off the league lead from our perspective. We welcome in stuart robson shock his lob julian the ron robbo all start with you. What's gone wrong at liverpool. Well in the last few games the final pass hasn't been quite good enough. They played with the fluency today. They go to into some very good areas. I mean trent alexander. Arnold must have had the ball twenty thirty times inside the burnley box with time to pick out across play cross into the box and he picked out the wrong option and the movement in the box. Particularly the first of wasn't good enough. You wanted to come short at times and rather mike dynamic hawksley Was on the right hand. Side is not really a front. Bless we've moved wasn't great in the box amani trying to the runs the deliveries from trent alexander. Arnold were good enough. He should've just been whipping booze. The goalkeeper in the back four and allowing people to mike runs into it. He was trying to pick people up. So they're they're lacking confidence at the moment you can tell that guy moron and other disappointing display from the shock. It wasn't for a shortage of opportunities. Perhaps nothing more symbolic liverpool recently than that. Remiss handed an opportunity and couldn't put it in. Yeah it was a rather ridiculous defensive era that the letter again and yet a lot of ground to cover before taking the chance on and let's be honest as good. As as nick pool was all game long. he shouldn't have said a chance to we. Went for a little bit too much. Pays the crossbar kind of some some liverpool up over recent weeks. They've been getting opportunities. But i just feel too many in that squad seem to have misplaced the shooting boot
