"Okay, I think this is the perfect segue for us. The embodiment of this change in terms of playing style in terms of perception, there's everything across miss Dali. Well, it's Alex tuck. But it's also Rasmus Dali. No, he's a bit a big driver of helping change it, but in terms of just see if you look at tape from Rasmus darling. Under Ralph Kruger, during that shortened season, to what he looks like right now. The goals he scored in 5 straight games are great, obviously. Not expecting that to continue clearly. But just in terms of how he looks out there, it's an entirely different player and it signals to me a player who's finally actually being allowed to freelance and try stuff and not necessarily being beholden to this kind of like rigid structure. And we've seen so far this season. I think you kind of noted it in the recap you did against the Canucks. It can be an adventure at times. Especially breaking out of his own zone sometimes he pushes the envelope a bit too far. He tries risky stuff. There was a play he had against the senators in their season opener, where he takes the platform behind his net. He alludes to four checkers, makes a nice play. And then all of a sudden decides to turn around at his own blue line and do a draw pass back to someone who wasn't there. It gets intercepted, it leads to a great scoring chance for Tim schlitz, I believe. But you kind of have to embrace that sort of exploration for him because I think that it's going to be a net positive. You can't every time he makes a mistake like that, I'd be like, all right, I actually want you to just send it off the glass and out because that's not going to be good for his development and that's not what he's programmed to do. Right. And just speaking from the perspective of a team employee for a division rival for several years, and whenever we would play against Rasmus darling, we're preparing for those games. Okay, what is he? Well, he's a player who's a bit of an adventure in the defense's own, who has above average puck moving ability. And there's a lot of players like that. So the fact that he, what he's become, this very dangerous player, very active in the offensive zone, you know, you mentioned the Canucks savers game. I tracked that one.

"Welcome to the hockey PDO cast. My name is demetri filippovich, joining me is my good buddy Thomas dance Thomas, what's going on? Dmitry, I'm glad to be here, especially for a really important two part show. Two parts show indeed. Let's go bring live from the sportsnet studio with camp Sharon. Are also our buddy as well here. Ken, what's going on? Two part show, two guest show. That's right. There we go. That's right. I'm part one, cam's part two. No, no, we're all doing it together. Here's what we're doing. We're doing the PDO cast semi famous annual watchability rankings in which let's give the listeners kind of a primer or a peek into our methodology first before we actually start ranking it just so they kind of get a sense of what we're doing because I think we had some disagreement. We had some disagreement but also like it's very clear to note that this isn't like a power range. It is correlated in the sense that if you have good players, you're probably going to win a lot of games and be exciting because good players do cool stuff. But there's some bad teams high up on our list that are high up for a reason. It's because they're so bad defensively, but have enough skill themselves that they're going to get into kind of fun game environments. Cam was really upset with me for having the buffalo Sabres ranked ahead of the Vancouver Canucks. As an example, and I don't think the buffalo sabers will be within ten points of the Vancouver connects by the end of the year. But I mean, they might be. But that's the perfect example of a team. If you have Alex tuck, you're going high up my watchability rankings. He's just so much fun to watch. There's no one else that size that moves like that. And I sort of, as I went through it personally, I was sort of trying to prioritize teams that connect play or do enough cool things that while I'm watching, I'll think like, yes, or I'll be looking forward to one or two things that a couple of guys do or the way their power play operates or just sort of prioritizing that. And then at the bottom end, it's like which games would I actually seriously consider watching nuggets spurs if that was the only game on that night. That's sort of how I get to. But I teared it.

Spittin' Chiclets

"I think Jack honestly thought that he was going to get a standing ovation. You know, he put a lot into this, you know, his game. I don't think there was too many nights when you can actually sit there and say that Jack did not give everything to this team. And I think that he was actually very surprised that the fans were bullying them. And I think that hurt, I think he was shocked, I think he was hurt. And I think there's also some media members that pushed Jack's buttons and I think Jack at times struggles with his emotions on how to deal with it. So coming off a loss in the return when you're thinking, yeah, everyone's kind of going to be like, thanks for what you tried to do here. All of a sudden, he's getting the booze. They lose and that's what that's what kind of spurred those comments that I'm not going to say. I know for a fact, but I'm guessing he regrets it a little bit, right? I mean, he's made a complete enemy out of the entire city now, whereas if he had just said like, hey, I've moved on it. It would be a little different. Yeah. Well, listen, I mean, that's the life in general, right? We make, listen, I made a shit ton of bad decisions. My career. We've got much time, you got much time. We'll get to those in a second part. Yeah, right. You know, I think Jack looking back would have would have really liked to choose words a little differently. I think there was just so much emotion. I think Jack wanted to come back here. I think he wanted to perform well. I think he wanted to win for his team. And it was just an emotional roller coaster. He gets traded for Peyton krebs. He scores the first goal. It's 20 year old kid, okay? Then all of a sudden you have Alex tuck who comes in and scores the third goal to make it three one and, you know, I think Jack was pissed off. He's a competitor. There's no question about it. He's a very, very competitive kid. But at the same time, Jack over the course of his time here in Buffalo, watch them countless time deal with the emotional side of things. He's a very emotional player, he's an emotional guy when he talks after games, and I think sometimes he just gets himself in a little bit of trouble. All right, what was the reason for the team just not let him get the surgery he preferred? Was it loyalty to the doctors? Was it an eagle thing? Why did they just let him get it? I don't know. I can't answer that question, but I'll tell you this. I think, you know, when you look at it as former players that have played in the game, you know, I think Jack did the right thing. Okay, I'll tell anybody that. I think Jack did the right thing. I think us players, no one's going to tell us what to do with our body because we're the ones that are going to have to deal with the shit after we're done the game. I mean, we've all been through this. We all have issues, you know? Like, you think that once we play all this time in the NHL and how demanding it is on your body that all of a sudden you just finish the game and everything's fine. No, there's multiple surgeries that follow, you know, I just had a surgery on my knee three and a half months ago just to continue to clean it up. I always have issues. And you got to take care of yourself. I think Jack did the right thing by holding out. It probably went longer than an expected because Jack's making $10 million a year. And there's only certain amount of teams that can fit them under their cap, right? The brightest spot for me in the Sabres this year, no doubt has been tag Thompson and I see this kid, he's enormous, his shot is one of the best shots in the league. Like, are we looking at a future guide 30 to 40 goals score? Like, this doesn't seem like a flash in the pan to you. And I know you mentioned that they didn't get much in return, but wasn't he part of that deal. The O'Reilly deal, he was, he was, but at the time it was, it didn't look like. Well, listen, I mean, when you go back to the trade and you're looking like we ended up getting four players in the trade, one guy quit halfway throughout the season and says, I hate this team so much that I'm quitting and leaving like an insane amount of money on the table and there's a few other players that were just like, you know, lower end third line guys. And then tage Thompson at the time was a first round draft pick. But after half a season in Buffalo, they ended up sending him down to the miners because he was just struggling so much. And this is the first year that we've actually seen cage Thompson come to life. I mean, he's 24 years old. He's 6 foot 7. He's 220 pounds. You know, it's taken this guy, he looked like Bambi when he was 20 years old. He was just very thin, just needed to grow into his body a little bit more, but you know, you watch him. He's got great hands. He's got a great shot. And the interesting part about it is he was put, he was put at center this year. I mean, hasn't played center. I can't even tell you how long. And Don grenado just said, we're going to try this guy at center and it's worked out very well for the team. You just mentioned dawn, like obviously he's, you know, he's done a good job of getting this group to play for each other. You know, you get videos of him talking either before or after the game. And what other reason would you credit this turnaround? I mean, obviously tuck coming in being fairly somewhat of a hometown guy. Like, what are the things that you're seeing where you could see some positivity actually going forward past this season, not just the end of the year and the doldrums of before playoffs. And kind of doing what Edmonton and Whit did for all those years. Yeah. I mean, I think the first and foremost, you're looking at a group of players, a lot of them are really young, okay? They don't even, they don't even know what the hell is going on in the league, like Peyton krebs is just, you know, he's made the sappers, he's happy to be here. Dylan cozens is only a year and a half into his playing career. And you can just go on and on and on, miss Samuelson, Rasmus dahlin. There's a young group, okay?.

"To some players in person flicked the first time in what was basically almost exactly like a year and a half so are very excited about all that and then those rookies went off to arizona. They went one two in the tournament. dave you're there we've talked about and one thing that you've often said on this podcast which i think makes a lot of senses that you basically want some guys especially kind of your top prospects if you're the nights to essentially show. They don't belong at rookie camp. I mean that's a good sign. It's like basically when they're kind of play against other players their age group. They're standing out so much. There's like all right like this dude just does not deserve to be here anymore. So out of the three games you got to watch in person. Was there anyone on the nights the kind of getting to that level of not belonging or at least you know showed you something to where they stood out in your is okay so i'm going to actually minka joke first off okay before we get into the night stuff because you asked me who stood out of the three games that i saw. Nobody stood out more than this kid for arizona named ben mccartney okay and he's a brain in weekend i don't know how the heck chiapa past climate kremlin and how he's not a golden night. This was absolutely unbelievable in the friday game. I don't know how the heck he was a seventh round. Pick but anyway. I tried to the actual nights folks. Yeah i think The guys the older guys the ahl you know experienced type players that you wanted to see for the most part you know. We're the ones that stood out there. Wasn't anybody the. Here's the thing like the baseline. Data's as always alex tuck in the hard part with with using alex. Tuck as a gauge. Is he so fast in the skating in so nobody is gonna ever pop in just catcher by the way that alex tuck did but jack do at one point in the second game you could see the the switch just flipped and he said that's it. Let's go on. I'm kind of taking over here. i'm. I'm tired of sitting back. And he had a nice power play goal. He scored a goal in the win on monday. Eight year. just you saw more of which wanted to see in. He just looked physically bigger and stronger than most everybody out there. Which is which is again what you wanted to see paying crabs. You saw speedy. Didn't show up on the scoresheet scoreboard or anything like that. Really for him in terms of goal production but he made a couple of plays. He obviously was given some rest. That second game in only played the two games but i. I don't think there's anything that that he didn't show didn't flash or that you would worry about with him You know the other two i. I think we're gonna talk about this. Peter deliver tori in can core zach. I think both really bossed games at at points throughout the weekend which which you really wanted to see. But there's one guy i want to mention because i'm gonna forget otherwise in soccer goalies to why i didn't write about this in the takeaways. I hope folks to read that review journal dot com. "He would kind of you would kind of fill in what they need. We're with Justin Emerson Las Vegas Sun he covers the Golden Knights will get to the prospects what might be coming back in a potential trade in a moment, But you mentioned some of those big acquisitions. And with that came big contracts. Now Michael carries a big contract. Five years $10 million cap number. How is Vegas positioned in terms of the cap? Would they have to make other moves to make his contract fit in? They would They have about $6 million in cap space going into the next top, Even with most or this offseason, With most of the team coming back, they're going to need to figure out a new deal for Alec Martinez decide if he's going to come back to their blue line or not, but other matters. But here's Danmark Thomas not sick, and that's it for their free agent, So their team is pretty sad, but $6 million, even if they don't sign Alec Martinez and isn't enough for Jack Eichel cabinet so they would have to make some other moves elsewhere. And and they they've always shown that they're willing to do that. Last year, They traded away post as me and made Schmidt basically in encapsulated moves they had room. Sign Alex Pietrangelo this year they could, they could make the moves elsewhere. You could look at Riley Smith is on an expiring deal. $5 million left on his contract. He can move Alex Tuck, who I would imagine would probably be part of a Jack Eichel crate. I guess we'll get to that in a second makes close to $5 million, so that frees up space. And if you really want to do the big thing last adopted and they tried to trademark Andre Fleury, and they couldn't get any takers, so If you're looking at that he just won the best not, but that's $7 million with Robin Leonard waiting to go If you wanted to work out a deal, maybe elsewhere. I don't know if he visited in Buffalo, but you trade flurry elsewhere. You You free up $7 million in Count state them And suddenly you've got Jack Eichel money You mentioned Alex Tuck. Yeah, I want to ask you about what pieces would be available and I was going to go with prospects. But let's go with tuck first and whether or not he would be available, and if he's one guy, Justin, are there other guys you think that are on the roster? Younger guys that maybe are in the NHL already with talk that could be in consideration for a trade. Sure. I mean, you look at big trades like this, and it's always freaky bases right. It's always the first round pick a player in the prospect, and it's kind of that quality of player and prospect that that makes or breaks the deal and Look at the players on the Golden Knights roster, and I think you've got that Alex talked is is the young player that makes? I think his captive 4.75 million over the next five years or so, so that I think would be really, really enticing to Buffalo. I mean, you can. You can tell me more about what the savers need, but that's the guy that's from upstate New York. He's He is young. He's really He's a top six player that kind of stuck on the third line for the gold mine because they have Mark Stone and Riley Smith, But I think that player that would be very, very interesting. For Buffalo. Other players you look at, you know, Cody glasses had a bit of a disappointing year since he was the Golden I first ever drop. Pick six. Overall, He hasn't quite developed the way that gold might have hoped. But maybe a change of scenery does him well. Peyton credit is more of a prospect. He's a cold night that brought back to the center. He played a couple of games in the NHL. So I think the pieces are there if the Golden Knights were willing to kind of the kind of deplete some of the young young talent on their rosters that could that could satisfy the neighbors. It's not a short discussion if you want to talk about what do the Sabres need just about everything? I mean? I'm not ruling anything out at this point, Justin But But you mentioned credit. So yeah, Let me ask you about the prospects and as long as you know, I was going to have you talked about, you know, the so called guys that would be untouchable. The best players that are prospects they wouldn't want to get rid of and preferably somewhere in this discussion is a center because if they're trading Eichel and they they might be moving on from Sam Reinhart. They need to feed Phil Center spot openings here. Sure, Yeah, Al shut out such a great player out stuff to wear and that there's nothing wrong with that. But you're right. If you're going to trade Jack Eichel and maybe move on from Sam, right hard you're gonna need you're going to need a pivot coming back and Eating crabs would be that guy, and I think that would be if the Golden Knights were willing to include him in the deal. The guy that gets it done. I just don't know if the golden eyes would be willing to include him. This is a team that That is that the older veteran team doesn't have a lot of entry level contract. If you're going to bring in it, a million dollar guy like Jack Eichel, you're going to need younger players on entry level contracts to make the money work just to speak out compliant for the payment. Taking credit of their top prospect. I think he was going to play playoff games before he fractured his job at the end of the regular season. He's 20 years old. He just finished. His junior eligibility will be in the NHL. Somewhere next season. I imagine the golden I hope it's Vegas and and I think that that might be the guy that holds up the deal. I'm Buffalo. I'm asking for crabs and up on Vegas. I'm holding firm on that one. So if Vegas can make the deal happen without him, I think they'd be ecstatic. But you're right other than Krebs. They don't have a ton of center. Uh, prospects that are that are near the NHL level outside of maybe glasses. Still 22. But I'm not sure what his trade value is right now. Anybody in terms of prospects Justin is there anybody outside of center, then maybe you pair with a first round pick or talk or some other combination. Yeah, they've got Brendan person who is he is a winger. He just finished his freshman year at the University of Michigan. He was their first round pick last year. He has terrific slapshot. He's you know, I think he's going to be a real good scorers in the NHL. You have a couple of guys in the American League. Jack Dugan, let me double am scoring two years ago. He's a He's a path first winger, um you've got you've got some guys that can make it work. I just don't know if it's kind of on the the AIDS here prospect that that Buffalo would be open for final thing for you. Let's pretend Kelly McCrimmon is talking to Kevin Adams, right, and they can't agree on Eichel. But the Vegas Golden Knights still want to center. Could Kevin Adams say, Hey, Kelly, while I got you have any interest in Sam Reinhart That's an interesting question, because I think that if they're going to get center because they do have you know Chandler Stephenson and William Karlsson did really well, it's top six better..

"An insider as you are. And I don't talk to people. I just For that straight to happen. You got to get the greatest value can for Michael with the injury with the cap with is celery with everything going on? I just think it's gonna be really hard. I know Petey will take the third overall pick and that's it for Jack Eichel. Right now. Give me give me give me the 12th pick. No, I'm kidding. Yeah, I I think I think times have changed when you're talking about star slash superstar players, um and You know, Of course, Adam's job is to maximize the return for Jack Eichel. For me. It's a foregone conclusion. He's getting traded. Um, so now it's just a question of what are you getting back in return and Um, it's you know, teams are going to try and maximize this The the angle of Well, look at the captain. You know, we're in a flat cap. We can't you know, for us to take that cap hit. You know you're going to have to take back this salary and all of those things they're going to try and Tamp down the deal because of that, But I also feel like there's value in change for certain players and for certain teams, and it definitely feels that way with Jack Eichel in the Buffalo Sabres, it is time took a cot bait and move on. Get whatever you can get, and it's not going to be small. It isn't going. These may be small. It's going to be a good deal, but I don't think it's dissimilar to Pierre Luc Dubois leaving Columbus Packard lining leaving Winnipeg. You had a disgruntled player in Winnipeg, You had a disgruntled player in Columbus to bobbing stars. You'll find a good set, and I think that that's what Kevin Adams is going to do with it with Jack. Okay. How about Vegas, though the trade talk that we had on our group chat last night would be like Alex Tuck. Um, Cody Glass, who is their top prospect and their first round pick dish here, and maybe you gotta throw in another piece or whatnot. Is that reasonable? If you say Vegas on Eichel, are these the pieces or we gotta like Like lower our expectations when it comes to that. Yeah, I mean, Alex talk would be a great get for the Buffalo Sabres if you can acquire him, Um, I wouldn't call him underrated because that's doing a disservice to the knowledge of parking fans. If you watch him closely, man, he does a lot of things well, big body. He can play whatever game you needed him to play. You know, in Vegas, he's playing on their third line, sometimes on the first line. I mean, he's the top six player. There's no question about that. So if he's part of the deal Then it's a good deal. First round pick would be part of it. I'm curious about what Cody Glass is now tracking to become, and I don't know how closely you guys have watched him. It feels to me that he should be a bit further along by now Glad again when you look at the experience of what they have in Vegas upfront, Um maybe that's a little bit unfair to him. But, um, yeah. I mean, if you dig believed beneath the surface, and you look at some of the other elements of it, you know, is tax contract going to be enough to swing that deal because No, it's not like the Vegas Golden Knights have been proven to us that they can go through the sport of cap gymnastics as well or better than most clubs in the National Hockey League, So there's going to have to be a strong financial element who had coming back if Vegas is involved. In my opinion, I want to ask you about coach before we get out of here, but I looked up Cody Glass last night, and I'm going to tie these right where he needs to be in his development. I mean, he's he's had has awesome numbers in the minors. Amazing Junior numbers solid numbers in the NHL for a kid who has just been dabbled in here or there, so You know, I I think that that would be ideal. Returning that deal to you get a glass of talking the first. I mean, that's all that's all I'd take. That's all I need from Vegas and you're You're absolutely done. Do you think the Jack Eichel trade will happen before the coach hire? Um, what is the holdup on the hiring of Don Granado? Yeah, it's a good question. I still believe that Don Granado is the strong front running candidate are you do? I actually thought that we might be lucky enough to have the announcement this week. I'm not sure what's holding it up. I was told yesterday that it won't be this week, hopefully early next week. Um, that are coaches hired or that don Granados announced. Um well again, I'm I am heavily leaning to don Granado being announced, But you know Buffalo did interview. Rick talk it at least twice, right. Um and Wasn't shocked that Rick talking didn't get the Seattle job. I think I was more surprised that Dave Hack still did. You know, I I like Dave Hack stall as a coach. It's just, you know, for your first coach, you know, it feels to me that wreck target would have made a a bigger splashing of the history with talking. And Ronnie Francis and in Seattle, Rick talk. It's a heck of a coach. Hard to imagine that he's not going to have a chair a bench to to start next season, so the fact that he hasn't been plucked yet. Does that encourage Adams and company to circle back or if they made their mind up on Donna Granado? I think it's the latter. I think it's the latter. What? They're waiting for a reason. So I think that coaches named before Jack Eichel gets traded. Okay?.

"To the front of the net and again cleared by this Montreal power play. It is 10 seconds away. I'm having killed off their 29th consecutive opponents power play. They have not given up a power play goal in 12, plus games. Theodore loses the handle at the blue Line gets it into the Montreal zone. Now gets it back. Top of the right circle penalty is over to fully out of the box. Montreal Full strength. So now over 14 in the series is this Vegas power play? Martinez top of his own gets it across. He can't get his shot through and it's pulled back by Suzuki. You streaks the other way to on one, Suzuki takes the shot, stick save made got it back in front, and Leonard turns that away as To Foley is hooked on the plane. I believe we've got another penalty coming up, quick Counterattack. Quick transition or this one from my trail was not off a turnover, but it comes off a blocked shot. Vegas unable to get the puck through on the initial shot attempt, and all of a sudden Montreal's going the other way as quick as possible, and that makes a huge difference. Petra had to block shot two on one Likening Suzuki in the middle, trying to make sure the delay is going to happen, and that's what happens to fully joins the attack. Everyone gets involved and you have a couple of lock sticks on the place. So Vegas just coming off a power play again. I think we've seen way more of this in tonight's game. Any time in this series. This I'm talking about is pretty good. Temple back and forth outnumbered attacks that last outnumbered attack for Montreal comes off the block shots quickly. They go the other way. Believe it's Alex tucked for the hook at 5 42 and for Montreal, their third power play chance of the game. They are one for two off the draw kept at the point by Caufield Good job by the 20 year old..

"The wing, taking Alex's tuck spot all kinds of movement making around the one thing that stays the same. Marches. So Carlson and Smith the second line, Yeah, in in Thomas, no sick. He hasn't played since Game two of the opening series against the Minnesota wild and undisclosed injury, forcing him out of the last 13 games. So it'll be interesting to watch how long perhaps tuck stays up there. As the top line centre. If he's effective, you mentioned the ice time as well there, but certainly things to watch where the Vegas Golden Knights are concerned. The Montreal Canadians coming in with a great deal of momentum coming off the win. They've started good in each of the last couple of games so much focus on Vegas's starts in the first two games of this series. Can we expect them to have a better start tonight? With all those changes in their lineup? Well, you know what throat the entire playoffs. Vegas has struggled from start. Just take a look at their personnel. They're big and they're fast, but it takes him a while to get up to speed and what normally happens with gold differential, not Real good in the first period for Vegas, But then 2nd and 3rd. It gets better and better. They steamroll you were that size and speed. But early on one thing, Montreal deserves a whole bunch of credit. They're coming out of the gate there extra aggressive. We touched on it last game Johnny before the game. Everyone wants to score first. But do you change your approach to do so? I think Montreal has the first two games. They are extra extra. On that first man in with second man right there. Two men on the fore check. They're not backing off. What is that doing? Taking away time from Vegas to get the puck out of their own zone. Of course, the storyline and the lead for this game three is no Dominique Ducharme. The interim head coach for the Montreal Canadians testing positive for Covid on a test that was administered yesterday in Vegas That was reiterated by a follow up test earlier this afternoon in Montreal. How big of an effect or any effect? Do you expect that to have on this hockey game? You know what? I'm just going back to when I played? You know what All the preparation is done before the game starts. It's done. You know what your responsibilities are now again enter game. I think Luke Richardson, who will be taking over his head coach, he will have decisions to make as far as Do you change the aggressiveness of your four check when you have a lead when you're trailing, Do you become more? You make those system changes during the game As far as when do you double shift the line? Well, that might come into his mind. Maybe he'll do it differently. Ducharme. Each guy has different strengths and weaknesses. He might go at it a different way We touched on it a while ago. I think the matchups situations and face offs that doesn't change. I've gone into many games where the coaches said if you're on the ice against the line, you're not supposed to be on the ice against. We've talked about the matchups. Get off. As soon as possible. You know that it becomes automatic. You don't need a coach to tell you to do it. Yeah, As a member of the coaching staff, you know the matchups that the staff wants to have really no big difference there. One difference, however. We saw a wild atmosphere in Vegas. 3500 is the limit to attendance tonight at the Bell Centre. It's the largest arena in the league. It holds over 21,000. It's going to be a very different atmosphere to say the list. It's certainly well now Montreal is used to it. Vegas is used to it going back to the regular season. Not so much into the playoff situation. I think all the talk about the fans. It is so important to have them there. I do not think It hurts the road team as much as it helps the home team. I think the home team does get an emotional lift from their home crowd. Montreal will get a bit here. But again, you're mentioning 3500 big difference from 21,000 for the record, the records Montreal at home in these playoffs three to Vegas on the road three and three. "This will probably see more ice time and he has been maybe the most effective forward for Vegas in this series against the Canadians. Now the negatives will be He's changing position. Will he still be able to get that speed up through the neutral zone as a sentiment who normally starts way deeper in the defensive zone, then a winger does so really be able to build up that speed. Coming in to this game. When you take a look at the entire playoffs and you take a look at rush chances. Alex Tuck gets the third most rush chances of any player in this playoff. So will that be effective? Will he be so tied to playing defense Going reverse again on his line, though, is Mark Stone. He was a Selke Trophy candidate last year, he might win it this year as the best defensive forward. So will those defensive responsibilities go to Mark Stone? All these things are question marks, and does it affect the flow of a certain shift Overall, Once you get going once you get a year zone. I don't think there's a big difference and again with three guys loading up the lines for Vegas, it might help get those other two guys going. Having said that, will the sink be there? Will the three guys working together? Allow them to leave his own? Which speed an attack? Well, and you and I commented in the last game. We really like the way that Vegas gets speed generated, particularly four tuck. They'll do a regroup in the neutral zone. Let him head back into the defensive zone, Rev it up and make a little bump passed to him that has been effective. Talking with the the Golden Knights players before the game with the media today, they all say that it's not a huge adjustment. Any forward who is the first forward in is the F one. So the the adjustment isn't that much other than taking face offs. The big news of the day, though, no Dominique Ducharme on the Montreal bench as a player, Foxy reached this point in the season. You're in the Final four. Does it matter who's tapping you on the shoulder? Doesn't matter. The voice you're hearing from behind you on the bench. I think line changes. No, I think matchups that's predetermined before the game, and it's communicated. Some coaches make it automatic meaning if you're the defensive sentiment, sleep the no. And you see, Alex talked over the board. You don't even wait for the coach to say anything. You're ready for a change. If you're on the ice against Alex Tuck, and you're not Philippe, then no. As soon as you get the opportunity, you're going to the bench. That's predetermined, and that's communicated before the game even starts, So you know that I don't think that will be effective faceoffs. Filipinos taking all the face offs in the defensive zone. Right. That's what they want. That's predetermined unless it's an icing and the can't make a change. He'll be out there. No coach has to tell him that the areas that it may affect this In game system adjustments that you might make. Montreal started the games to 12 to 4. Checkers Hard, hard hard when they get lead. They back off 1 to 2. Only one guy. Does the coach make those decisions? Yes, so that will fall on Luke Richardson. And will he make the same decisions that DuCharme might have made? Also when you double shift a line That's a decision made in game by the head coach. Well, now it's up to Luke Richardson. Will he follow the normal rotation that Dominique Ducharme was doing? So those are the areas in game system adjustments? Yes, it will be an issue but overall matchups. What's going on that way Faceoffs, not an issue. Things will keep an eye on throughout this game three a pivotal Game three in the semifinals. Final fours Historically in a 11 series, the team that wins Game three goes on to win the series 78% of the time, Teddy Johnny and Jim. Great stuff. Well, I mean, you've got one more year locked up in a contract and I can't imagine he's going to get re signed this we have later for another four years. So you know, it'll be a question of like, Does he want to move somewhere else? And I think it could be you know, next year could be the swan song depending on how inspired he is playing me, but but I don't think he's got plenty of years left in the tank. You know he could play another 56 years. He's in really good shape physically, but it could be. It could be this one toe or, you know, or you could see and then go home to Pittsburgh. I don't know. Give me give me somebody that you think well could be would be or could be the start of the game tonight. That will be talking about tomorrow. I'm going to say Marc Andre Fleury. What do you say that? That's a good one. Because obviously expect check me. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna go with a guy. I think there's any as a unique opportunity really create on his own, and he's got prime time minutes right now playing alongside stone, and I'm gonna go with my buddy Alec stuck. I think that you know, a guy like him is hard to defend against. He's he's obviously more of a weapon. When he's on the third line, he gets better matchup. Again playing with playmaker like stone. I feel like, you know, tucks the kind of guy that can break through because that's what you need. You need game break right instead of just everybody shooting from the perimeter. You need a guy that can just Big get to the net, and you have the skill to finish off the play. And I think Alex tucks the guy, All right. There you go. It's gonna be interesting. Game seven tonight. It's gonna be a lot of fun. How many tickets do you have for the game? Tonight? You're down in the ground. How many tickets do you have? Well, normally I have 16. But because of coded, we didn't have our own season tickets, so I was able to snaggle four. We got four seats, and me and my buddies were going and cheering him on. It's gonna be so much fun. Daniel always appreciate it when you take the time to join us. Very knowledgeable, And hopefully next week, Daniel. Hopefully next week, we'll be talking about Colorado Vegas series and we'll get your thoughts of that. Because I don't think many people after seeing Yeah. Any shot whatsoever. None. Colora. Colorado is gonna be a minus. I think they'll be like a minus 300 favorite to win the series. Maybe even more, But we'll have to, uh there's no way you're probably be looking at, like minus 1 90 or minus you can really do you think it'll be a size that okay low. Is that okay? Maybe you're right. I'm in Colorado having home ice. They've had time. But you What? You're probably right. It could be minus 200. But I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. The Knights have to get there first, and they have a pretty good team in there way. Daniel, look forward toc any out there at the game tonight? It's gonna be a lot of fun. And thanks for joining us, my man. We'll catch you next week. All right. Have a good day, guys. Thanks a lot. Daniel. That is a real kid Poker Daniel Ground who joining us V G K Super fan? Oh, yeah, He's also one of the best poker players in the world has been for the last two decades. Always great. By the way, I was thinking of myself. As I will be going to the game tonight. I was thinking to myself. When was the last game seven. I went to, uh, there were no game sevens in Hartford. When I was a hard for Whaler season ticket holder. They were absolutely atrocious. They were terrible. They couldn't even make the playoffs. They don't even sniff the playoffs. So I'm thinking myself. When's the last time I saw a Game seven in any sport Lakers Celtics in L. A This was the year after the Celtics won the NBA championship. This was the team where they had Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen. Doc Rivers was coaching really good Lakers team with Kobe Bryant, Shaquille a near Shaquille O'Neal, Paul Gasol. So I was able to not not a media credential. I was able to get a ticket. Derek Fisher, I Yeah. I was able to get a ticket. With a friend of mine. It's a game I'll never forget. Now. My Celtics didn't win. I want how much that cost you. My friend bought me the ticket. I think it was fairly reasonable is like 300 bucks. That's not better. Yeah. Was it up again? I think he spent 600 prepare tickets and we were in the lower section Game seven. Now the Lakers won, but we saw greatness. Kobe Bryant shack at their best, And it was even though I was disappointed that my Celtics lost. I'll never forget that game. I'll never forget it. So I bring that up because tonight, of course, is Game seven, and you watch like six Hall of Famers that they bred. Yeah, I'll never forget it. I'll never forget for the rest of my life. But, hey, what I'm saying is why we're not seeing that many Hall of Famers on the ice Tonight. It's still a game seven. You're still watching it in person. It's the Stanley Cup playoffs. So for all of you that are going to the game tonight. Relish it, because these situations don't happen very often where you can watch Ah playoff game in a game seven in person. "So that one seems like you know maybe closer to being able to go. Maybe somebody that would practice tomorrow. As we record this the other guys i i don't know i have a i have less confidence or i have a worst feeling. Maybe about them being ready Certainly knows I mean we haven't seen him. I guess other than giving the jersey way other. We did technically lay out his on him for the nights. The last game against the got evans less home game he was there had to give jersey away paddy martinez were not in reeves. Was there as well. I mean it's it's we're all playing. Conspiracy theorist urine. Trying to figure this all out you know my answer. I guess is really i mean especially for somebody like Who missed six games. Like how i would think. He's got a scape. he's got practice. He's got to do something before you can. Just throw him into a playoff game so really some you know him out martinez probably until we see them out there skating. I have more doubts about them. Yeah we'll have to ultimately see how it plays out but needless to say especially in the case of patron or those are pretty important guys for the golden third probably like the have out there real quick. Real quickly jumped. I could just because i think. I ignored ryan reason. Certainly seeing him out there and we didn't ask now as maybe my fault specifically about him but he was on that fourth line and there was no placeholder really other than maybe patrick brown which i think is very feasible that we could see him centering. The fourth line. So i think of all those guys media and i said talk is the most likely it certainly looks like ryan reasons ago in based on march stones. Answer about getting some more physicality back in the lineup. It looks like i think that was sort of alluding to ryan reaves so we could probably see seventy five in there on sunday. Never forget that mark stone also said One of the last time the knights play the wild. Just wait till biggles. Seventy five out there and then they'll be chirpiness less so the night certainly. We'll be excited to have him back for this match up against the wall. If indeed he does play also be happy to have alex talk. Because of course alex tuck was taken from the wild in the expansion draft of that was multiple general managers. Go for the minnesota wild in those facts probably aren't unrelated but certainly. If tuck gives you know that he will probably be fired up to play against his old team. I let's go into the match ups a little bit deeper starting with the forwards. These two teams are. Actually i think you look at the top to bottom. They're both you know up there in terms of the deeper teams and the nhl. But then when you look at just the top end guys the knights definitely have more kind of quote unquote game breakers or just top. Six guys that you're very comfortable with compared to the wild what's interesting about minnesota's their top line is pretty much shutdown line and left wing during greenway center you'll erickson and then right wing. Marcus felino. they're kind of a grinding defensive line if they score goals they're usually not super pretty. You'd have to imagine that they're gonna be matched up against a shinar stevenson and mark stone whenever minnesota is at home for most of the time at five on five and then the wild second line is the one. That's the most interesting to watch because it has one strong playmaking wing in mats zuccarello. It has kind of a center gets dragged around invicta rask's but it also has just. This crazy phenomenal talent. Rookie correal caprice off. Who's gonna walk away with. The calder came over from russia. This is his first year in north america and he is eighth in the league in goals. I mean i think even the wild traded temper expectations with him. A little bit dave heading into the season but he is like delivered on everything. And i mean he's the real deal in kremlin touched on this. And i think you know during past podcast during the regular season when the knights play the while we probably touched on this so i hope i'm not repeating myself too much but you know sort of as we go through the series in and i always think about the wild there are three teams that i always sort of felt like were the sleeping giants in the nhl and the blues the flyers in the wild and they are always like right there come in water in just good and they can never seen league get like over the home and i think heart of the least. I'll talk about the wildwood. I think the two aspects criminal touched on this. And i don't think it's a big secret that sort of prevent all that were goaltending and then just having a dynamic playmaker a game-breaker a talent up front. That just seems have to account for that. You're never out of the game because of you can make plays out of nothing and you know there was so much expectation like you said because of how well he did in the cage fell in leading goals over there. And can you make the transition in north america. Cy all the other the the the the questions whatever he made a quick transition i think his age factors into that. He's an older rookie. And he's somebody that's going to be. I don't want no problem for the nights. A really gonna have to account for him and figure out in those eight games. What did they not do against him. You know if you're gonna ask them all takeaways time and space oriented but you know there. Were there specific things that are going to have to examine here. It goes through the book. I guess pizza or likes to say you know as they scout you know these teams and go over the eight games in in figuring out you know how to play against him in in putting him in that he doesn't want to be in. You know making him go to areas of the ice or directions reactions that he doesn't want to go. Do you know on his backhand versus four. Whatever it might be They're going to have to figure that out because he was. I think it was six goals in eight games during the series. Obviously you know a couple key ones down the stretch that really if you look at you know factored into the knights not being division champions in presidents trophy winners so i think he's gonna be a big factor.

"Totally but let's explore at least a little bit. I guess the kind of person they could go after because you mentioned bottom six four it and i think that is kind of the clear you know circle read whatever you know target that this team could even be looking at because the top six one. It's rolling really good and even if something happens to a top six player like a max patch ready who has been injured the last couple of games. You just move. Alex tuck in. So that part's pretty. I think good to go. And then when you talk about the blue line obviously portray. Angelo has been heart for a while. But when he's healthy. And in there. I think you feel pretty good about that group six and then same with your goaltending deal now that that's kind of healthy and intact again. That's pretty locked in so the one area that you could have some you know concern or of beef up a little bit of that bottom six now. The fourth line has come around a little bit. Recently a william carey a ryan reaves tomasz. No sick each have a goal In the last four games. So that's been something that's been turning around for the night but it's still thinks the third line especially when you don't have tuck on. It is one that struggled to produce at times throughout a lot of this season. We've seen a cody glass. Come out the lineup. Two times in the past. I think it's like about three ish weeks. That's clearly a sign that they're not totally happy with what they're getting from him. Nicholas wa a lot of really good things on the four check well but he is not kind of finishing and producing offensively. So i think there's definite room to improve their the tricky part of course is what you kinda hinted at. Dave is like are you willing to move assets for not just in terms of draft picks and stuff because they do have plenty of draft capital coming down the pike especially for a team that is kind of quote unquote a contender of the fact that they have a two second round picks in this coming draft including one. That should be a pretty high second. Because it's from the new jersey devils is certainly asset. But they're going to have to move money off the books and that means if you add about him six forward you might have to you know. Put cody glass on the taxi. Squad the rest of the year because of salary cap constraints. It might require giving up. Say a no sick. Because he's an expiring contract even though he started to come around. I think that makes the calculus a lot harder because not only are going to have to give up. You know. Contracts or draft picks to get this done. There's just an opportunity cost wrapped up in all of that as well. Yeah there is an and i think maybe. That's you know if i'm looking at this. How do i. How do i approach everything. In those are considerations. I mean even something as far as like okay. The twenty twenty one draft which we now. Here's pretty much going to go off as expected that that's a draft that that a lot of the scouts have had minimal viewings on prospects. I don't know that they've gotten the best feel for what's going on in in terms of that class. You know. maybe you're more willing to move draft picks from that particular draft as an asset to to acquire somebody. Because you just don't feel as good about you know your grasp on the prospects you don't maybe you're looking for something like twenty twenty two picks or whatever it might be..

"It. You know. I don't know what you can tell from guys doing drills and i know people like us to read into a lot of things in no you know. Give us your opinion. And how does he look in. Whatever i always say like well. You know unless it's obvious or one way or the other. It's hard to tell. Tomas jerko was really good. And even dopey me could point him out in the group in in scrimmages or whatever and say whoa that guy slashing and for him to be at least today in practice in alex tough potentially a guy you know has made a taxi squad. Or i guess if alex tuck maybe can't go but you know they have to do some more roster finagling in cap gymnastics and all that sort of stuff here. You know thomas. Your co appears to be in line to be the guy go. It's just kind of interesting that they were able to take a guy. This essentially off the scrap heap. You know somebody who's been hurt. You know the last couple of years and then really hasn't been able to make an impact you know and and found him signed him to contract in maybe you know are able to squeeze some productivity out of him to will see. He certainly has some jump. He's a guy that you know. His is got pedigree think he was a second round pick. He's kind of been around the nhl he's been given some chances and it never really been healthy. That's sort of the the big thing holding him back especially the last couple of years so as he saw told us the other day he he seems to be healthy. Says he's good to go. We'll see i mean. Maybe they've got a you know. I hate to maybe make this comparison. It's like a a potentially european brandon period. Here where where he comes in and if he gets a hot stick he seems like that type of guy. I guess. I don't. I don't know we'll see some osceola gopher. Yeah people are not familiar. It was kind of an under the radar signing up by the knights for kind of depth. The he's twenty eight years old Left shot winger as david with a second round. Pick back in twenty eleven and he's a guy who Pete deboer talked about today because he was filling in on the third line in practice. In place of alex tux so he was on the left. Wing cody glass and nicholas wa. Repeat divorce basically like you can't teach the skills that this guy has and he's been given quite a few..
