"Carolina. He carried the ball five times and got negative two yards can do negative two yards on five carries into games. Clearly indicative that he's not healthy. He carries he had weak 1 15. 15 carries 75 yards, two touchdowns, cams back. Cam's back. So as they continue to feel comfortable with having him in the offense as Bella check and McDaniels open up the playbook and give him more responsibility. He continues to learn the offense and feel comfortable with the pieces around him. I think Cam's gonna have one of those bounce back years. Cam's one of those comeback player of the year types, depending on what happens with Alex Smith. But I have never questioned can complain. Question of Cam can complete passes at a high level and a high enough level for youto win. And I questioned whether he can stay healthy endurable now. After last season. Now you're over 30 and the wear and tear on your body of playing the style of football that he's placed. Our steak is told, We'll see if it could happen. But he was really impressive in week one where one of the opinions that I have is I would. I'm starting to change my mind on came and maybe one a bit a little bit on the New England Patriots. Let's open up the phone lines 855 to 124227 talking Week two in the NFL. What games? Are you guys looking forward to? Who would you consider to be in a must win scenario to avoid falling the into 855 to 124227. You're listening to the Harrison Experience live on CBS Sports Radio. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson buys XFL for 15 million dollars

"The XFL, trying to go again, a group including actor former WWe star Dwayne Johnson. The. Rock has agreed to purchase the xfl approximately fifteen million dollars. The XFL declared chapter eleven, bankruptcy April thirteenth, and so who knows maybe the rock make it work? In case you want the numbers, the League average one point nine, million TV viewers per game in two, thousand, twenty, and generate nearly twenty million gross revenues in. In Two thousand twenty, I know you watch more than I did Mike and you thought it was it was good out of the gate at least. What do you think XFL? Can it work again I? Think it can I mean look I think there's going to be more bigger player pool than ever before you know and and we should have some kind of according to Dr I, call him. You know from the Godfather according to Falconry. Dr, Don. According to Don Uchi, we should have some therapeutic or some cure by then. So we can have people in the stands and we can do all that you know I think it's a hell of a deal for him. Now redbird capital partners, they they have an option for seven and a half million of the fifteen. So I think this is all going through and just reading a lot of stuff online today I. Mean, this is a hell of a deal to pay fifteen million dollars to basically get all the all the hardware. Think about the equipment that they're going to get for fifteen million, the video machines, the uniforms, the all this stuff that you could basically would have cost you just it's worth. Sixty, one, million dollars. You get fifteen, it's pretty good deal. Yeah. Johnson as investors include his business partner Danny Garcia Garcia will have an executive position the league and said that both she and Johnson, a hands on approach run the league join John. This is played the you he played in the NFL and he certainly knows. Out of market himself. So curious to see if that can work for the

"Featuring KNBR appalling Mac Creative Tony and Shannon Caylor of the Stone Fox on KNBR, these Moors leader. Before we let our guest Barrows go today. Get back to cover in the 40 Niners getting ready for the Jets game this weekend. Let's talk about your book. A little bit mad in the name of the book is If these walls could talk now I am in need of a copy. I have already it. So tell us Just tell us about the book. Like what area it covers. It s senator. And it's basically Andi want sound too egotistical. It's the Mat Barrows era. Which off also coincides with this century. So I started covering this team in 2003. Okay, And, um, Basically, this chronicles the roller coach. I don't know a team that's been On a bigger role, a kosher ride than the 40 Niners over that span. They've had to to win teams over that span and also to Super Bowl teams over that span. So right, there's a lot of that. It really concentrates on the gym, Horrible era 40 Niners because there are a lot of stories because, you know, yeah, coming coming out of that team. A lot of personalities show basically, it's It's a chronology. Between 2003. When they really started, they hit their low. That was Dennis Erickson's first year that the year after that 2000 three's the year that they got rid of Jeff Garcia. They got rid of T O. They got rid of Derrick Deese. They got rid of Garrison Hearst. And they thought that they had the replacements at the ready and boy they did not then and they were terrible in 2000 for on that sort of led to the the Alex Smith era. Which led to the gym, Harbaugh era show. It's It talks about all that's in the Ardennes thrown in some big games in there. Yeah, he's in stories that nobody's ever heard of before. While I'm very much looking forward to reading it, big time and also I wanted to ask you talked about how difficulty it was for you to just even just kind of Track down Garoppolo this past offseason. Was it difficult? One guy in particular when you talk about like, the more recent years and nine year history, I think about Harbaugh. He's really interesting. Dude, We used to talk to him on the murder from actual once a week, and you know how it is, man. Sometimes he was great. Other times. It was like pulling teeth. But was was he co operative? Did you get to talk to him? Is he a little bit more open now Looking back on those years. Yeah, I think that's that's a theme, a cz that guys who are tight lipped and sort of taciturn once you get a little distance in there, there, there more open. So yeah, he was. I talked to Vic Fangio, the defensive coordinator. I talked a great Roman, The offensive coordinator talked a great Roman Quite a bit about the Super Bowl, and the play calls that he chose at the end of the game, something that fans might have some interesting, But, yeah, I mean, that was sort of the theme is that Once you get close to a decade worth of distance in there, people are more apt to talk, right. Justin Smith was a guy that barely ever talked us on, and I got him on the phone, and I just I learned a lot a lot of things. You know, I cover the team. I was there every day. Every practice. And I'm hearing things for the first time that they weren't so apt to share back in the day. Yeah, it's really and this error with Shanahan and John Lynch to me mad. I mean, it feels so much different from the horrible years there both for their both great coaches. They both have great teams. What, Like you said. The Harbaugh thing was like covert. You know, Syria tops underground communication, and John Lynch is liable to say anything at any time. And Chan ahead is the same way. And just being like a radio guy like I really appreciate that because the tone is so much more conversational. You know, with this with this chapter off 40 Niner I hierarchy Yeah, talking to Jim Harbaugh. Back then it was like World War two secrets like trying to keep in the not their Nazi spies everywhere too loudly Right now. Shanahan doesn't have that issue. And everytime Shanahan gives a quote, you've learned something. It's such a good Quote s O. It really is a night and day difference. And you know you could feel that in the locker room as well. It's just a, um, an honesty, you know, embracing, you know, thoughts and ideas and talking very openly about things that was just the polar opposite back in the Harbaugh days. Well again. It's Matt Barrows. The name of the book is if these walls could talk, it's an in depth. Look at the as we like to say, the Maddie Barrows era 49 football and no, definitely all over reading this, Matty and I will very soon know Shannon. Before we let that go. I'm looking at the clock. I see. We've got seven minutes election. We let's just do the music assignment now because I want a song from Barrow's before we let him go. Absolutely. Because it's New York and it's the Jets. I was thinking. There's so many stones with jets and airliners and flights and things like that. And so, I mean, I have my favorite song with, you know, with some sort of large, plain or jet in it. Can anybody else you know? Pick one up Pretty quick isn't Steve Miller band? Oh, Jet Airliner, that airliner we go too far away. That's the bear.

Jack Del Rio on opt outs: I have views that wouldn’t sit well with my occupation

"Jack del Rio gave an interview to the athletic the other day, and he said, I have personal views probably would not set well with my professional occupation right now, I think I'll just leave it at that. You know I think to me you know this is really the challenge of a coach now dealing with players I'm not saying you you shouldn't have different views than the players but I think you have to keep what you want or what you believe to yourself and treat everybody. And treat everybody. But the right to have their opinion because when you start giving out your opinion as a coach, you're basically saying that the people you're leading their opinions, really not what you're not gonNA listen to those, and I think this is a slippery slope for coaches. If any young coach listening to this is there's a separation between I'm not saying you should be a different person, but I, think you have to keep the professional relationship with the players respectful, and if they believe in their voices need to be heard you need. Need to listen to them the matter what? No matter what your personal beliefs are.

"Ron Rivera is GONNA look at Alex, Smith and say dwayne hands can speed you out not going to happen. Oh, I totally disagree with you I I not only I not only think that he would say that if it were true because you're almost intimating there that he wouldn't say it if it were true like he can't tell Alex Smith that Dwayne Haskins beat 'em out why not because the they won't because I don't think that's GonNa happen because it's not going to happen. There's no way that that football coach is going to say that to Alex. Smith we'll be the PRESEASON NFL poster boy. For his comeback. And you're going to grow. You know first of all, this is such a waste of time. It's such a waste of time because it's just not going to happen. It isn't in you know I know I'm pretty sure. We've talked about this and I, think you agreed with me on this. This organization has to have they've never had self-awareness in the past. Hopefully Ron Rivera has enough self awareness to say you know what this guy did get himself in pretty good shape. He could probably be on the field I, but my God if we put him on the field, if we the Washington football team with our track record of being negligent when it comes to medical and training and and otherwise in the reputation we have if we're the ones that put him on the field, any loses his leg, it's over. They. That that that's an ugly scenario. It wary and it was put again but look and I look for all concerned I think the best thing would be for Alex Smith to take football and go home okay I really. Don't want we both agree play yes I don't think he should play because you're right it's that is an ugly scenario that the redskins would have to deal with too but And then I I don't know what what he does after that Tommy there's some similarities with the Jordan Reed thing. He just signed a one year incentive laden deal in. San. Francisco reunited with Kyle Shanahan and Trent Williams you know I'm not saying that this one into their thought process but it should have they weren't the team that could afford to re-sign Jordan Reed and. Put Him out there and have him get his eighth or ninth or tenth concussion whatever wherever the number is now and and and end up being compromised for life. Let somebody else roll the dice on that it's GonNa. It's GonNa be the same thing with Alex Smith now this is soums that there's some level of self awareness at this point with Ron Rivera in the organization. But If he went to. Uh Los Angeles in backed up jared. Goff for Sean mcvay and Jared Goff got hurt in Alex Smith came in and had another tragic injury God forbid. It would be comeback player of the year incredible that they gave the opportunity nobody thinks he should have been on the field and it's a shame. Let's hope his he keeps his leg his life is saved, and that'll be it if it's this team. They may have to you know you may get goodell getting all the owners together saying look we got two choices here. Here's the vote either Snyder's out or we disband the franchise all together and we and we get out of DC for a few years and we'll come back around twenty twenty five when it's safe. You can't put out Smith out on the field if you're Washington. I'm exaggerating obviously, but you really can't. I get that and. Some aspects you're right but what are your option? dwayne. Haskins. Kyle you you win the job he's not going to win the job but if he asked that question what if he wins to not going to allow them to win the job? Oh well, that's nice. But he I certainly redskins. Tom And we'll tell me look you. You're right about one thing in mind. Shanahan's told both of this both both of us this many times you can't fool the locker room. And if you try to, you'll lose it. How many times did he tell us about you know when the conversations about Griffin came up in the locker room all knew that he wasn't the best player at that position and didn't give them the best chance to win you know in two thousand, thirteen as an example. This is different. Right now you have a culture change you've got an organ you've got so many other priorities. You've got a weird off-season and you've got a player coming off an injury where I bet if he's truly beloved like you say and I'll take your word for it. Most of those guys don't want to see him play again either they may want to see him get to the point where he you can take a ceremonial snap. But they don't want to see him. I mean, imagine the pressure on some left tackle named Jaren Christian. If he's the guy to gives up the sack, they get some injured again. That's a good point that this is why. This is why he shouldn't even be there. He shouldn't even be there I'm like he is I'm GonNa out coach, and now the head coach is singing the praises. You know you just a little aside because I can't help myself. You know because I got all this time on my hands here in the fortress of solitude. You know, and it's almost every tweet from every redskins beat writer about what Rivera said..

"About Alex Smith's wife, he's already made millions and millions with a leg that looked like it was attacked by a great white great white shark and telling him yet get out there. I just I just can't see that. I agree with everything you said there a hundred percent, but that's totally different I understand I understand. Okay. We disagree on if Alex Smith wanted to play got himself ready to play was ruled healthy enough to play and it was a legitimate competition I think Dwayne haskins would win that competition and you think Alex Smith would win it easily and so I understand there are two different things. But the anyway. So with all of that memorial, let me ask you wait. Wait a minute head. Let me ask you a question. Alex Smith. has spent half of this recovery period basically. Not being sick. Seventeen operations. Over the course of that's trying to deal with all kinds of infections this you were the first to report the seventeen in fact. Yes. Surgery. Yes seventeen surgeries. Dwayne Haskins be ahead of Alex Smith in terms of studying the playbook I had a lot more time on his hands well studied a playbook during those seventeen surgeries. Ron Rivera Scott Turner weren't a part of the mix Tommy. They've they've both the playbook in the same time they both got the playbook at the same time and it wasn't. In Alex Smith wasn't not. In a hospital bed. You don't think his priorities were different when he first got the playbook, we don't think he was still trying to get healthy. As opposed to actually thinking about about playing football, where do only thing was stopping Twain Askins was being on the football field working out thirty six. Behind Alex Smith, why do you think? Because this is the veteran exactly and he played in the NFL with his why if this is one hundred percent equal, he will be the starting quarterback no that that would be a reason that he would be in competition to be the starting quarterback. It isn't necessarily the reason he would win the job the winning the job would go to the guy that in this case, they invested a first round pick into is the future as the future. No. I'm saying it doesn't matter. We'll wait a minute. You're giving it. You're you're not giving a real hypothetical then no I am. Hypothetical. DID THAT HE WASN'T A. Last year. Wi, no? No. The real hypothetical is. Who can you look in the face after a quarterback competition and say you want a job and you'll be all starting quarterback You know how this works. You know of Alex Smith out hats. Robber in its first year at coast can't say to his team where starting Dwayne. You know that I just don't think but I don't. But I don't think but I don't think he would be out twain. That show that but that's different stats nothing to do with Wayne be a first round I. See what you're saying okay. We were trying to create all things being equal meaning. No, we're not. We're not taking any of of of the real world factors into this because that will be taken into consideration. If. It's especially if it's close, especially you know. It's the same thing we've set in the past last year I was like if it's close, you gotTa Start Dwayne. We'll. Why will because he's the future in the team's not going to be any good this year let's get him started well, that sort of applies to this year as well. You gotTA. You got to find out if Dwayne can do it or not this year. Not If. You've got a guy who who beats him out in a quarterback competition, who's beloved like Alex Smith and by the way. Like we've talked about before a quick start and a successful season would go a long way towards empowering Ron Rivera in that bill who do you think the owner would want to start all things being equal his best new friend in Alex Smith or the guy that he picked in the first round last year. Question I think he'd be divided. I think Twain House I. Bought Buddy I. think There's one advantage that Alex Smith would have and it's what we were just talking about it would be his veteran experienced and savvy and and the ability to be a really solid game manager if they feel like they're going to have a much improved defense with better coaching and with the addition of chase young and they may be looking at it as you know what? This is the all things being equal hypothetical We just need a game manager and we can win. We can win nine games now. Better than than Alex in many different ways, he's got a bigger arm. He takes more chances. He's more mobile now that Alex probably than Alex is and he is you know young and precocious in our future and we think that he can probably produce much more on the upside. But right now, what we want is we want the gay manager that we saw in two thousand eighteen. Before the injury the guy that isn't going to turn the ball over and we're going to try to win games the old fashioned way like they did on their way to a six three start with a better defense and better coaches that would be much better coach but I'm we're not talking about Alex Smith at thirty six years old being a better quarterback into Wayne. Haskins I just don't think that he obviously beats him out all things being equal and then I, and then when you. I know you do and and and then then you bring in the reality of what this season probably is about and what the future of that position for the franchise is then he'd have to beat him out by a wide margin. To Sit Dwayne, and if that happened, it would be a major indictment on Dwayne and they would already know that Twain's not the guy. You know this year next year beyond if Alex Smith Beats Out Dwayne Haskins Dwayne Haskins is not going to be the quarterback of this franchise in the future they're gonNA play Alex Smith and they're going to hope to gain manage their way to eight wins or nine wins with a good defense and then they're going to solve that problem next off season. Given. Look if our Smith and Wayne Haskins compete for the starting job there is.

"Washington football team coach Ron Rivera is not ruling out a return of Alex Smith, who's currently on the physically unable to perform list but is working out on the side. He did some really good things last week, he went through off work or work out days had no residual effect the next morning. "So you'll high, what was working on this piece like for you, what? Did you learn first of all I learned how difficult it is for community that so knit to separate itself all of a sudden like what valiant effort. They did to actually do that once they realize what was going on. And the price is heavy prices. They paid I learned how lockdown affects people very differently lockdown, not the same for a young couple with the one kid or a bachelor living alone or with some roommates, as it is for a mother of you know six seven thirteen kids. Another thing I learned. Is You know these people are very positive? Even when I talked to them, and I talked to remember, I talked to people who had very strong complaints. That's that's how I reached them. Even those people at the end. All of them felt it was very important to end with a positive message. Hopeful message that we can all learn to get along better and. They'll never complain. They'll say you know. It's very very hard, but So. That was really inspiring for me. Being myself stuck with three kids at home and much. Full of. Self pity. That story was produced by High May. Together with our amazing production intern Marie Huda. Ari Jacob wrote and performed the original music. We don't usually think the interviewees in our stories, but this times different since for many of them, talking to the media, especially to non Hundred d media isn't a trivial matter. So. Thank you willy. Dick Mantova Henny Judy near Hyme Teitelbaum. You the elite Menachem Tokyo Shag leak and many others who preferred to remain anonymous, a special thanks to a wicked Zana the national anti-racism coordinator for the Department of Justice, who was incredibly helpful throughout the process of putting this piece together. Before we sign off. Let's check back in with sergeant. Alex Smith the Home Front Command squad leader patrolling the streets of. His assignment like that of many other soldiers was really a bit strange. After all the deem, don't buy large. Go into the army. In fact, some of them are quite hostile towards the arm. So Alex wasn't sure how it would all go down I. Thought I would be getting things thrown at me or like getting shouted from the other side of the street stuff. Like what is the army doing? Hugh, get out of place. I can tell you that as soon as they see us coming there like and they put on the face mask or go to another place. So what do you do you go and knock on people's doors or where? How'd you? How'd you convey this information? No, we do not going to people's homes. We are going close to supermarkets to hospitals. Two clinics in how the hundred received the soldiers so far so good. We have not had any problems set. Like what are you doing you or what? Why is your army coming into a neighborhood? Not all. You're not the right I. Am not I am a secular you I I would say. And is this the first time that you've had significant interaction with with him? Yes, and say that it's nothing like I would have expected I. Not all the like for real are taking us the way we are and leading. Do what we are intending to do, which is to help them and they're cooperating. Also which I think is fantastic

Trade that saw Jamal Adams go from New York the jets to the seahawks for two first rounders, a third rounder, and a starting safety and Bradley macdougald It's an incredible trade when you think about it from the jets perspective first of all they had disgruntled player. Part of me really hates when the disgruntled player begs for trade and gets his way. Nine get traded to the cowboys, but he got traded to the seahawks and man. The seahawks gave up a lot for a safety. That's the first thing you think about like really to I in a third and a starter at safety for a number safety. Jamal Adams is really good, I mean. We talked about him last year when the redskins played the jets, and it was quite a performance by Adams in that game. If you recall that was really the one start more than any other that Dwayne Haskins really was at a sink and did not look very good at all. That was last year the second start for him he. He started the buffalo game then they had the bye week and then they came back, and they face the jets and it was a beat down. They're down thirty four to nothing or thirty, four three one point, and then join put up some numbers late, but Jamal Adams in the box. A blitzing safety in that game was all over the field in that game. Three sacks four quarterback hits. He was all over the place. There's some really good young safeties in the NFL. "Right so the Alex Smith thing came out of the blue and again it's great. It's incredible that he's worked himself back into the ability to potentially play pro football again I would wager heavily against it. I would also wager that the redskins fail him on his physical today I. Don't know that for sure but you know there is this insurance policy, and I don't know I mean. I really would be surprised if Alex really wants to get out. Out Onto an NFL field given that he's got generational wealth and take a snap, and put himself at risk again after what he went through I. Mean You can't put yourself in anybody else's position, but I think all of us had we survived. He survived never forget the images of that leg of that flesh eating Sepsis, you not taking away his leg bit by bit was in that hospital nearly dying, and then certainly in danger of losing the leg to save his life. I just can't imagine. Can you that he's going to go out and play professional football. Can you imagine the first time he's under center and he he drops back on third and seven, and here comes the pressure. How but if you're other players just the thought of tackling him or hitting him, it would be a bit much I. Don't think it'll ever happen It's incredible that he's gotten himself close to it happening again, but I just don't see it happening and again. I want this team now. To focus on becoming an NFL franchise again they have a coach that is totally capable of at least for a while if he's given the ability by the owner to you know, implement winning philosophies winning winning structure it least into the football operation. It's time for them to start being competitive again. Start Looking like a professional outfit and if they do that they're going to have a chance to take all t t least get the people that have looked away in recent years to give it another look. That's what I'm hoping for and more so because of what I was talking about j. p. earlier God. Has the last two three weeks been just difficult to deal with. I am not. You know I'm not happy. About the name of the team that plays in the city that I was born and raised in being taken away in this fashion. It's not that. The financial economic you know lost revenue potential without the name change because big companies like Fedex in Bank of America and others really decided once and for all to put a foot down I'm not. I'm not upset with. That I'm upset with the way it's being described because it lumps of us that are lifelong redskin fans into. A recorded. A recorded history of this group of people in Washington, DC with this terribly racist. That allowed this to go on and just how how unconscionable it was for that to happen, and we just know that that is in. That is not illustrative of the facts of this discussion over the years. It just isn't but. it's going to be hard to get people to understand that twenty five twenty years from now ten years from now because the Kellerman in the Florio's and the Peter King's. Don't want you to think that this was ever A. An issue that was debatable numb that it was an issue that was clear cut and those that were against the name change really were insensitive. If Not Racist People and that's the way they want you to feel. That's the way they want. People who view this down the road to think of us as a fan base. and I'm not down with that at all I. Know what the facts are I know what the facts have been I know what the available information has been. I've always been open minded to. The information conflicting with their completely overwhelming, the information that we had off from the other side that native Americans were overwhelmingly offended by this name, but that information just is never been there never not once not one survey, not one poll, not you know over one hundred visits that the team and people associated with the team and people who I trust were on. Never was this terrible injustice that they're making it out to be. It just wasn't. You know We weren't enablers as fans. We should not be ashamed. There is too much information too much factual information that's in conflict with the narrative that they've been making for several years, but now are really making it now that the name has been changed like. Why did it take you so long? Well, the reason is you. People were terribly insensitive people. You really were shameful. Awful People I I'm just I can't I can't do that. I can't be down with that there and I think there's a lot of disingenuous you know. Discussion there. I think they know that Mex, Max Kellerman is not an idiot, you know florio line, but still smart enough still intelligent enough to know what the information's been. You know I know Mike Wise and I've known him for a long time. He is intelligent. He knows the other information that's been out there. He is a he's been very adamant that one person or five percent or ten percent is enough in to. To me, that's a better position. That's more honest position the position of look. I understand there's a lot of conflicting data out there. I understand that it's not the easiest thing to move on from based on the data's. That is out there. However for me I think it's a no brainer because to me, one person offended is enough, and if that's someone's position, and they've been adamant about that position, and they've done a lot. Lot of their own research and been passionate about the issue I am much much better with that. Then the person that claims that this is the N. word. It was always the N. Word in the people had absolutely no basis for continuing to use the word, and they were being insensitive, and they were being racist by using it I just I can't do that. and I'M NOT GONNA. Let them convince me that somehow. Somehow I was a hateful human being for rooting for this football team with this name, and I'm also not gonNA put up with being lectured for the next few years as we deal with this change, and we make mistakes you know in referring to the Redskins and by the way some of them won't be mistakes. Some of them are just gave. They're not mistakes. It's habit you know. It's GonNa. Be No ill intent. There's not going to be an intentional You know effort to be insensitive because there wasn't before. but I'm not going to be lectured. By Mike Florio the name police commissioner about using skins or rooting for a team that still a rooting for a league that still has a few teams with the logo on their site. You know this is not gonna the this is not going to haunt me ever..

"They draw blood and compete a cup or whatever it is, it's quite different so. It, it just seems odd and I. Don't think this is a money. Play on either side of the money's guaranteed this season. I think it's an insurance thing. Yeah maybe that. Maybe maybe there's some contractual stuff to it than I am not aware of yet But I I wrote a call on Saturday morning. That I think, and I don't expect to have them, but Alex Smith ten play and can actually get back on the field. I think that Washington owes within the trade them get him in a place that a lot of very clearly isn't a tear down. Rebuild use movement. It doesn't make sense for them to play Alex or have him on the bench and and I know people will say that you can be a great coach and mentor in the meeting room if that guy has worked this hard to come all the way back and he can actually play. Send them the Tampa for a conditional fifth and let them back up. Tom Brady or let them go back Joe Borough or Shawn Watson I mean. I don't know this is not the right place. For thirty six year old quarterback coming back from a nearly. From life, threatening injury I don't think you know for a lot of reasons. Jp and it's funny as you're talking. Thinking about and I didn't come up with this on the radio show, but. This, organization more than any other I mean it, it could certainly use an inspiring story, but at the same time it cannot it cannot you know withstand some sort of a catastrophic injury that they approved with a with a physical that put him back on the field, and then they put him back field I made just just. Can't you know I I read on the Stephania Bell Peace and she said that the he had received clearance from or the report from her that he had received clearance from his surgical team to return to full football activity. I don't know what that means. If activity versus padded. And Games in contact I think the team's GonNa fail them in his physical today because if he does failed that physical the his salaries fully guaranteed for injury, but the red sox fans can recoup that and I. Don't know what the numbers I've seen multiple numbers, ten and twelve. I've seen ten to twelve million dollars in the insurance policy that they took out on his contract if he had a catastrophic ending injury. Look personally. I. Don't WanNa. See Him after seeing that leg on that project eleven documentary. There's no way I ever want to see him on a football field. Can you imagine the cringe-worthy Watch that would be Alex Smith being pressured in the pocket? Are you kidding me? I can't happen. I agree and reading the quotes like the actual coast from Alex in the story made. It seem like this is more of a life thing because he said he's like yeah, I can go skiing or snowboarding again i. His quotes versus you headline of Alex Smith cleared for football activity struck me differently But I. You know what I'm most curious about because I. I still don't think the Alex thing is happening May. Maybe I'll be proved wrong I from what the people I talked to I. Don't exciting test physical either. I? WanNa. Know what's going on with, Kyle because I've been sor- I circle back to some comments. Ron made that way back in April foot about hey, if we have a short and training, camp and preseason, we'd be very comfortable going with Kyle because he already knows the system, and now here we are where training camp. Is Not going to be normal. There's no preseason that. I'm trying to and maybe I'm dumb for trying, but I'm trying to get back into football most. What's actually going to happen on the field and That to me is the biggest question wash. Well and let me add to that because I. don't want this to come off as crass or heartless, but I'm. Any human beings totally inspired by Alex Smith being cleared for football activity. Whatever that in everybody you know is super happy for him. I thought the best part of that project. Eleven was to seem at the end of that thing running around with his kids in sort of Jing a little bit. You know on on on the leg I mean he was near death, and certainly was very near in Robin West basically advocating I'm recommending that they amputate that leg but you know this franchise It's time look. It may not happen. Who knows if there's going to? To be a season, but let's just assume for the purposes of this conversation that there's going to be I'm ready to talk some football. I'm ready to see how good this defense is ready to see. dwayne on the field. That's all I wanNA see I. Don't WanNa. See Lyle out there and you know I don't also want the redskins organization, which they are prone to do to get wrapped up in things that really have nothing to do with the football operation like a ceremonial snap or any of that you know to your point. If he really wants to play, then trade him. I I just this is inspiring at the same time. He's not going to be a significant. He's never going to play again. In my view and I certainly don't want playing for this team and I want the focus to be on whether or not they can become a professional football operation which they haven't been for a long period of time, but I feel good that Ron. Rivera can tournament to one but I. Don't want all these I. Don't want again I don't. This is not an uncaring response. It's just practical I'm happy for him on one hand and I went just football on the other I don't want want an effort to to finish square. Peg into a round hole. With you I'll tell you what I'll come on again later. In the week after we talked to Ron Tomorrow and had a little clarity. Maybe on what's going to happen, Neil let's do that I, know you got to run, and you've been kind enough to give me this time with with the girls and all of your responsibilities at home I'll talk to you soon. We'll get out and play golf in.

"And kick people's asses, the sheer like with Washington on the front of their jersey, and by the way JP, it would not surprise me given how much. It costs to change the brand that if they were to have a good season. Let's say this year. Just throw it out there and say hypothetically. They had a good season. If they keep with the gist, created as the interim wouldn't shock me at all I I wouldn wager on and I'll wait. I'd way to run a new nickname in two thousand, twenty, one before twenty, twenty one, but I think there are people in the organization that like it just as it is right now. That was that was an old timer Kip For. The nickname I asked Bateman that directly I had been on my part of week, and he said he wouldn't rule it out that there's it. There's no. There's no formal. We have to come up with a new nickname or any of that. I think they should just keep it. I think it'd be cooler of his Washington football club instead of football meaning if that's fine I think the only thing and I don't know how you come up with this is he's still like everybody says the next, and not the nationals or the cats, and not the capitals. You still need something. Quicker for vernacular just and honestly as a writer for like headlines and and tweets like Washington football. Teams Pretty Long. That's to me. The only thing missing is something like that, and maybe people can still say skins I highly doubt you can still say that, but. That's the only trouble spot. I'd say. I like Washington, Football Club to I I. would have preferred FC, Washington or Washington FC and then continue to be able to for most people, not the Kellerman in the Florio's and the Peter Kings and the Mike Wise Weiser's of the world continue to use skins and maybe that's the way it will ultimately play out. But yet I kinda like I do like the look. You know, I'm I'm. The uniforms are often I? Like the hell. They nailed this. It looks at University of Minnesota. Okay like the color scheme. Yeah a little bit, but but I'm glad they kept the colors and I. Don't mind the numbers on the helmet. Shington across the front of the Jersey. Yeah. So. Do you know this Tuesday Morning Ron? Rivera has presser Let's zoom press conference, but the press conference the less. What is your first question for him It's funny because I have to think about that because there's a chance I. I've been told that we're going to have him on radio this week. Yeah my first question for Ron Rivera. Well I mean part of it might be contingent on what happens today with the team physical with Alex, Smith but. I don't know. I got to think about it like I, had him on a month and a half ago, or whatever for like thirty five minutes which he was so kind to do it for that long, but I don't know I mean. Part of me wants to just focus on the stuff that we've just gone through. You know whether it's the name issue whether it's the sexual harassment case whether you know part of me would just ask him. A personal question likes in all seriousness. If I injected you with truth, serum, would you and your wife say? You wish you had held out for the giant job? I I don't. I. Think you walk from if you want the personal side of this I'm just wondering like. How are you holding up with all this stuff? I I mean he's GonNa. Say No. He's happy job, but. Could just I could just ask him for the play by play job I could just do that. That could be. Yeah. I'm kidding. I didn't I didn't realize. Hey Ron. There's a lot to get to I. mean there's there's this Washington Post story. That was really a damaging, although they don't think it's damaging. The names change training. CAMP STARTED HEY! Can. I get a quick address. I WanNa Fedex you some of my work from calling Maryland Games in recent years when Johnny Holliday was available to do the Games. All right, let's get to this Alex Smith stuff because this first of all did this. Come out of the blue for you, the the report on Friday from Stephania, Bell and others who? The surgical team for those that don't know. His medical team cleared him to return to full football activity. When you hear this podcast, it's very likely that the team is already given him his physical and weighed in on on him from a team perspective, but did this. Catch you off? Yeah and what's there's some some of these weird, but it's his medical team cleared him for football. One of the people on his medical team is Dr Robin. West was the Washington football team doctor so. And the people I talk to this thing hit Friday night and everybody was kind of going nuts, and then I talked to some people Friday night that don't expect him to pass a physical. So. What I mean. WHO's the doctor? I am because I don't I mean Kessler does not the? Physical doctor. I don't think you about your blood, pressure and stuff. It's about being able to you like I think. Fans need to be aware that when pro athletes get a physical. It's not the same physical you and I get when we.

"Key Carol's kind of and. Any read really has become maybe the the. The the headliner NFL coaches and having the home help to but then. I don't know what football is GONNA do they're on top of the? If if somebody gets it, I don't know how everybody doesn't get it and. Considering the numbers, it's impossible. I think somebody will get. Yeah, you know one of the things that I've felt for a while now. Is that for all of these sports? The event that they can't plan for, but will likely be disruptive. If not you know a the reason for cancelling is a young player healthy. No underlying conditions or you know a medical conditions that would make them more vulnerable. Get Sick is in the hospital is on. A ventilator is seriously ill, and that would shut the league down and you know we've talked about this before Tommy. I have that that would be the rudy go. Bear moment of sports returning not a positive test, but in actual sickness, but I think what we're seeing this. But I think what we're seeing. This marlins unlikely though right. Pretty Unlikely but what we're seeing with the MARLINS situation adds another layer to this, which is a major outbreak. Aren't getting sick, but you can't play. These players and games have to be cancelled and the integrity of the Games when they played or co are compromised. You know I. I don't know I mean under. A large outbreak is is in football. Andy Reid pointed out in this speech that he gave the other night and this talk that he gave that football's unlike these other sports there eighty eighty players eventually fifty three, but a hundred necessary employees which include coaches trainers know employees that are a part of the daily operation, so he you know he's. He did the math one hundred eighty times thirty two teams. That's five thousand seven hundred sixty people that have to be tested on the regular. This isn't the NBA in a bubble. This isn't even baseball or hockey. It's it's. We're GONNA have a lot of people test positive. For sure I mean. I'm supposed to be out there next week. Or whenever the gets allowed, and I'll be one of. Ten. Five thirty media members and try to get I I. Don't know I mean there's GonNa be. It's really hard. I. The NFL is a is a freight train, and they're going to continue to push the gas and try to figure this out and credit to smart people that are trying to consider every angle and protect players, health and protect coaches else stoute's and janitors and everybody else, but this thing. I. Don't WanNa. Say something unbeatable, but. It's hard to see a path where. There wouldn't be. I mean this happened in baseball. Three days into the season. The task for football is exponentially hard, right? Well look I called you to come on today because I wanted to talk football, and right now we we roll with the assumption that the NFL players and the owners. Are you know they've? They've come to this agreement training camps for whatever you you want to describe it. It's an actual. Training Camp Designation even though they won't be in pads for another twenty days. Against Each Other pre-seasons beneficially completely cancelled, it was on Friday, but I really wanted to talk about this Alex Smith story with you. J. P. Finley obviously covers the team as all of you know for NBC Sports Washington and he's got the redskins talk podcast. Which is done very rename that guess. That's right, you do what's well. You got a new name. China figure that out right now I don't know. Operationally. Yeah I mean this is going to be an issue with all of us I I actually have. Some things that I want to say a little bit later on it can be with you or without you doesn't matter, but just about some of the reaction to the interim name thing from the other day was just from Florio and Kellerman in these. You know these these old name police. You know they're not going to let him. Kellerman is a dog whistle at this point. He just loves blasting. sider like this and almost seem personal. I found. Turning the nick, the interim name thing into another. Blast the Organization for a million things most of them therapy, but they handle that as well so. I agree. Totally agree I don't do a lot of cool marketing PR rollouts, but they failed it with each player putting pictures of themselves in the new uniforms on twitter instagram infants cool. They did something cool so well. It it just plenty to scream about that's not wanNA know I mean. The reaction was either just complete ignorance over what was going on here or in the case I think of Kellerman, Florio and Peter King and others. They're not going to let this go. They're going to continue to. To remind people on on as much of a base daily weekly, whatever that they are the old name police and the name being gone is not going to be enough for them. They're gonNA pile on in piling on going to become almost a new sport for them. I mean you'll hear it from them. The old name it'll be accidentally used a broadcast or unintentionally with no ill intent used by somebody in the organization, and they're going to be all over him like white on Rice. Floor Florio's there with a ruler in his hand slapping down. People I mean. He was lecturing teams on their websites last week, that hadn't gotten the Redskins name and logo off their website fast enough like he's the name police commissioner. This guy's a hack. He's insufferable. And he's GonNa continue with all of them to bring up. Just how racist the owners been just how racist! This fan base has been! You know as long as his like is around. It's not gonNA. Stop haunting us. You know people are not going to you know these kinds of people are not gonNA, Forget. How good it makes them feel to let you know how shameful you were for eighty seven years, or however long you've been rooting for this team like I just it's hard to take man. It is hard to take because I. You know JP. I said this with Tommy two weeks, or whenever the name was lost in I'm reading. The columns instill today, the columns, the recording of this for historical purposes when people look back to July twenty twenty when the redskins lost their name, and they read the columns, and they watched the video of the Kellerman. And they watch this. I mentioned this before, but not to you I'll have grandkids twenty years from now twenty five years from now hopefully, and they're gonNA come to me, and they're gonna read about when the Redskins name got you know I would take away, and they're gonna read all these columns, and they're gonNA watch all these videos, and they're gonNA. Wonder how GRANDPA was such a racist like GRANDPA. You seem like a pretty reasonable guy. Guy and pretty tolerant, open minded. How did you ever root for a team with such racist name and that's the problem I have with this JP is. It's being recorded for history by these guys that will not admit even though I think it's incredibly disingenuous on their part, but they will not admit even though I believe they know this has been a very complex issue. One worthy of thoughtful open minded discussion and debate I mean. We Max Kellerman knows the what the Washington Post poll revealed in two thousand sixteen, but you would think he'd never heard of it same thing with Florio I mean there's no data out there other than a dictionary definition that supports their view, but yet they're recording it here in the moment, and they're taking advantage of the moment, so that twenty years from now when people look back. On the Redskins name that got taken away, they'll. They'll believe that. It was the equivalent of the N. Word, and that anybody that rooted for this team before they changed, their name was incredibly insensitive. It makes me angry because I'm fine, and I'm not nearly as passionate about the name sticking anymore again. It's part and parcel to how I. Feel about the team these days which? which is a lot less passionate than I used to, but it makes me fired up, and it makes me want doron pain, and chase young and Jon, Allen and Matt I s and Montas Sweat and Ryan Kerrigan to go out.

How HHS’s new hospital data reporting system will actually affect the U.S. Covid-19 response

"So hospitals around the country are scrambling to figure out a new data reporting requirement from the trump administration. There were told this week to send critical information about covid nineteen directly to the Department of Health and Human Services, which bypasses the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The move created confusion at hospitals and alarmed public health experts who worry about public access to this important data. We're joined now to talk about this with the NPR's Ping Pong. Thanks so much for being with US warning. Scott H here. This new reporting change has been affections wins day. Can we tell how it's going? Yes, so it's been a mixed bag I've heard from a few hospitals around the country. Some say it's been really hard. Some say it's been really confusing and other states been okay, but they're still sorting out the details of the change, but according to hhs more hospitals have been reporting this week that have in the recent past and they say that was one of the reasons. They wanted to implement this new system. Stripper Ping which changed for a hospital. Okay, well for a couple of months since the beginning of the pandemic hospitals have been reporting this daily data about the number of covid patients, they have the number of beds and ventilators. They have available to the CDC and the CDC has been gathering this data they've been. They've been putting up on their website to give updates on hospital capacity, which is you know whether hospitals have enough resources and protective gear to take care of the covid nineteen patients that are coming in, but under this new rule, hospitals are now supposed to report the state up either to their state health departments or to a different system called talent tracking, which has been set up by a private company, and which provides data directly to HHS, shall hospital still report the data just somewhere else What has some experts and officials so concerned? Yes so hospitals are still required to report the data, but they say it's been a big burden to change things up right now. Especially for those facing certain coronavirus, cases and doctors have also pointed out that the administration seems to be saying. Hospitals have to use this new reporting system to gain access to federal supply from decifit here, which is one of the only drugs known to work against covid nineteen. Top scientists at the CDC says these new reporting methods ignore valuable experience at the CDC has gathering this data? Here's Dr Daniel! POLLICK! We have a long standing working relationship with the hospitals. We have means of being able to quality checks over the incoming data. He's not sure that the information coming in from these other methods will be as good as the data CDC was collecting and public health experts have also been raising concerns basie this in the context of the administration fighting federal scientists over Corona Virus Advice, and they say this could be part of a pattern in which the administration is trying to sideline the CDC The nation's public health agency in the middle of a pandemic. And this week CDC website that the chaired that hospital data with the public went dark for dare to do. We know what happened. Yes, oh. This is the website that was getting updated three times a week, and it went down briefly, and then it came online again, but it's using old data and reporting from Alex Smith at member station K. C. You are in Missouri, says hospitals there are currently without access to critical data. They've been using for their daily and weekly reports. They hope the issues will be sorted out in the next days or even weeks, but in the meantime the Missouri Hospital Association says they'll be very much in the dark

"Because quarterbacks he played the position he has a great belief in the way he wants things done and it's like nothing will ever satisfy him except for his boy. Colt but I think he realizes colts limitations too but anyway I talked about how in the two thousand eighteen season before the Alex Smith injury. I knew this in a lot of other people knew this I. I'm pretty sure I have talked about this before. But Jay was very frustrated with Alex Smith Now it's the early part of their relationship you know. They've only played eight games together. You know there's the possibility that it's going to be better. But I I think Jay really didn't adapt to with Alex Smith did well necessarily. I mean we saw some Rpo but we didn't see enough quick game. We didn't see enough west coast. We didn't see enough getting on the move and I talked about that during the season. The game that sticks out to me is the Colt Game. Week to when the colts are playing soft zone. Start to finish and the Redskins can't pitch and catch like they would have the previous years you know not they were great at when teams were in soft zone. Kirk just getting it out quickly to somebody you know a six-yard hitch in boom. You know eight yards. The next one was four yards moved the chains they jay never adapted his offense style. Smith I put that on Jay but he was very frustrated. You know in practices and in Games. Because he didn't feel like Alex Smith was really getting it. I also think that he didn't adapt to Alex Smith strengths. But yeah that was going on and when Colt McCoy came in and GP. And I were talking about this time. He yesterday he certainly. No one was happy to see Alex. Smith get hurt away got hurt. That's not of course. Nobody was rooting for that. But I remember saying at the time Jay Gruden if you injected truth serum into Jagran. Right now he would tell you with Colt McCoy. The offense is on the verge of stuff and I think he really was confident. In and Colt had a short work. Week to prepare for the cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. Which happened to have been the date at Alex? Smith really started to get sick in the hospital And then if you recall Jay was really really bullish about the amount of time that that Colt had to prepare for the eagles Monday night game. Yes yes absolutely. You know all this does is just one more illustrations.

But I'M GONNA real quickly I'm GonNa Start with some Alex Smith stuff because I got to tweets that I wanted to share with you This tweet came from Yancey yesterday. Yancey said I'm beginning to think that Alex Smith can return from this injury. What perseverance what fortitude. What a story. I think he's going to play again at some point that was from. Yancey and let me just read the second. One real quickly from Kevin He writes she. Why don't you want Alex Smith to play? And then he goes on to accuse me of not being in Alex Smith Fan. Which by the way. I've said this before is just utterly untrue. You know some of you are really really you have the NFL? I didn't think that Alex Smith had a good twenty eighteen and didn't think he was playing very well and didn't think the offense was very good doesn't mean that. I dislike Alex Smith. I wanted the trade. I was in favor of the trade not the extension but the trade. I was a fan of Alex Smith when he was a Kansas City. Tommy you or may not re- remember this and the only reason I remembered quite honestly because Dan Steinberg reminded me of this. He tweeted out something. When when the redskins traded for Alex Smith Steinberg I? I'm pretty sure re tweeted a tweet of mine from like three years previous to that where I said I believe that Kirk cousins can become an Alex Smith or Andy Dalton type of starter. Which by the way was a compliment So I always liked Alex Smith. Now why don't I want Alex Smith the play because after watching that program the other night in particular? I don't want him to put himself at risk of playing. He's got a beautiful family He has all the money he'll ever need. I don't WanNa see them. Take the risk and play professional football. I'd love to see him get himself into position to play professional football but by the way to Yancey who said he's beginning to think that Alex Smith can play. There's nothing that convinced me. More that Alex Smith will never be able to play again then. That documentary the documentary. The other night tummy that the grotesque pictures in particular of the flesh eating bacteria in the process of carving away essentially most of his leg between his knee and ankle. I don't know how anybody could look at that picture and think that he's ever going to play football again. I'm just so happy. He's able to walk around on two legs and play with his kids. Anyway that's how I want to get out the show. What do you say well look? I mean they're going. They're going to start showing pictures. Ovallis from its leg on the concourse at Fedex field..

"Was a Hornet's nest. You're breathing about the break. The record in the Dome Football. But that that Falcons game at home I remember that one because I I think it was like twenty one fourteen and then I think it was twenty one ten twenty one seven and then I if I remember rightly skins scored before FM. It's all right. Take a breath. Catch you know come out at halftime. And then they got beat deep Calvin Ridley to go like twenty eight fourteen at halftime and it was just a wrap so I I don't remember on the. I don't know that they were a house of cards. Because we're other bad teeth. If you look at the back out of that schedule you know. They beat the Jaguars. They almost beat the titans. Josh Johnson. I think they get to at least nine wins. They were at six point. Nine nine nine. I'm not I'm not. I'm not going to debate you on. Whether or not they would have gotten to nine in succeed in the playoffs. I just didn't think they were good team now. I did think this was the team. That actually was well coached for that. Six two six and three start. They didn't commit mistakes. They didn't they won the turnover battle. They were winning field position battle. They were stopping the run and running the football which was huge. It was one of the things I remember saying very clearly about Alex Smith when he got here. You've got to be able to run the football or it'll be a disaster. It won't work with him. And that's what he always was. One of those quarterbacks in this is not a criticism. It's just that most quarterbacks that are good need a lot around them the he he wasn't at that elite level. No one would've ever put him there but anyway the the point that I was going to make was that you know that Houston game was GonNa make him six and four. It was one of his worst games. that he was in the process of and yet yeah. S. Hundred Yard Return. I think Dow hit a couple of turnovers in that game. The Dallas Thanksgiving Day game short week then Philly on a Monday night. It was very possible that they were heading to six and six but again nine and seven. Whatever the point that I was going to make. Is this what a lot of people didn't know about that time? And you know this I'm pretty sure. Is You know the person that was most frustrated with Alex and the offense was the head coach. There was very And I've talked about this before. It was not a great fit. Bruce made that trade. It was not the best fit for GRUDEN. Necessarily IN GRUDEN was pulling his hair out at times. You know now. Look grooten was a perfectionist. I don't think the that Dan Marino would please Jay gruden because any and it's just the way he was you know he was that way with Kirk towards the end but early in that season there was major frustration disconnect between he and Alex not that he didn't like Alex and didn't understand and respect the leadership part of them but it wasn't the best fit now doesn't mean that it wasn't on the verge of becoming a better fit they only you know they had only been together for one off season and nine games takes a while at that position but it was a frustrating passing offense for sure it was not. Oh it Smith's best year by a long shot well and there were a couple of factors right. I mean for. How long did JAY WANNA go with? Colt? I think he wanted to go with cold. They knew Kirk was finally.

Finding Value from LinkedIn Connections Off of LinkedIn - Alex Smith

"Today. Got Another tip from Alex Smith. Here he is. Hey Gang as of this recording some of you may know I've been in a sales job search lately from a layoff in despite a lot of interviews I've had I'm seeing a lot of companies in holding patterns recently and they're really slow to get back so I've really been doubling down on Lincoln lately. The one thing that I found that's really working formula. Lincoln was something that really came as a surprise in his might tip for today more people than you realize are willing to have a conversation with you outside of Lincoln than inside of it with a good strategy. You can create some really valuable relationships. I have to admit I was a little hesitant to ask people for their time. Outside on linked in without much of anything I can give them return if you think about it. I'm reaching out to quota carrying top beat. Abi Sales people to network and they're willing to spend a few minutes and hop on a phone call or zoom call with me this despite the fact that they have a number two hit themselves and way less prospects are entering their phones and emails right now but when you think about it. Great sales people don't expect a give to get. They live life to learn and just listening to you is all the Roi. They need for their time. So I don't take it lightly that anyone would want to give me their time and the agendas of our calls is really just genuinely getting to know each other. I used to think Lincoln was purely numbers in engagement game. And maybe in some way it is but at its core. It's still a platform comprised of people people who all have something to offer and we can all learn from a Lincoln connection is so much more than just another number and when you grow your connections. Don't ever lose sight of building connection. Growing connections isn't the same as creating connection growing your connections can be done in a split second but creating connection requires intention and giving on both sides of a relationship so I thought to myself. Why can't we all just use this time to create connection not just adding connections? We all have an opportunity to move beyond the one time connection right now. I've had so many great phone calls with completely new people recently. I've had a minimum of at least five new calls scheduled each week with new connections and none of the call started off trying to sell anything or have any other agenda from either party tied to it other than genuinely knowing people beyond their profiles. So how can we make connections more valuable to others and ourselves? Why I thought offer a few quick strategies than I'm using would love to hear your take. So here's a few things that are working for me. First thing I'm going to steal is from someone that reach out to me and I loved her approach. So shout out to Sara Marie Clark Brand Consultant for Jack Neater Consulting. So my first tip is be genuine with your ten. Sarah was really genuine with me when she responded to my connection request an interest on she said. Hey Alex thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for connecting. I love to make this connection genuinely valuable to you and not just another number. What is the best way? I can support your growth. Are you open to a call? This week to collaborate and explore our connection. I didn't know Sarah from anything. I'm not in brand consulting and didn't specifically want something from her and she didn't want anything from me but her starting off relationship saying she didn't want to just be another number asking how she could help me and asking if I was open to. A call really presented her as genuine. We had a really great call and I've used a similar approach to reach out and meet new. People linked in second tip build people up through community. I've reached out to people from communities. I've been on lately Y- whether it was hopping on a linked in live Webinar training. Sometimes if you zoom causing communities. I'm in and many of the top sales people in Lincoln. Organizing resume calls right now. I definitely suggest getting on them. But what I do is reference. The call compliment them on what they said. And what it meant to me. It really feels good to people to let them know how they impacted you so when you ask for their time they they don't think you have a hidden agenda. They want to go deeper on the topic with you number. Three the Lincoln activity tab is gold. I used to reach out and mentioned someone's profile when reaching out but finding what people have commented on from their activity shows the other person. You really see them. You plan the same lanes. You're one of the same tribe. You're more of an insider asking for time in someone outside of the club banging to get in reference that in your outreach. Hey really loved what you wrote on so-and-so's post it made me think of x the have a few minutes to talk with. Love the run some suggestions questions by you giving your knowledge on this value any advice you may have in this area. And lastly be specific and ask for their time. You have to give them a reason for having a call could be making yourself a better candidate to an employer. You value their perspective on an industry where you want to get their thoughts on a sale situation. You're dealing with include that in your outreach. I also like to say even just a few minutes helps. I know your time's valuable. So that's some quick things that I'm using finally. Don't even think you need to have a specific ask. It could just be you feel a genuine connection with some content and you WanNa meet them so tell them why. I urge you all to pick a few people who genuinely respect on linked in but haven't met outside of it and try to meet them. You just might be surprised who accepts the invited. The massive value that can come

Selling Internally: Prepare for Impact - Alex Smith

"Have you ever had a great idea at your workplace but it was never implemented? I've had ideas. That had amazing excitement and launch and others that are currently sitting in an idea. Graveyard somewhere in likely will never be brought back to life and everything in between so my tip today will help you with actionable ways to prepare you to present your next idea work so that it has the best chance to make the biggest impact. I'm someone that always loves challenging myself to come up with new ways of doing things. I really look at sales as an art form. And it's up to us to be creative on how we want to approach it. If I ever lose a sale I always want to ask what I could have done differently so I started doing the same with ideas. One consistent theme that I began to notice was that all of my improvements really centered around how they were presented and my process ideas are no different than the products and services. You might be selling so why not adopt similar sales processes the next time you need to present them. Many of us know the importance of getting our sales process right. We put intricate detail into them. They are the lenses that make our forecasts crystal clear any smudge on the Lens and we clean it up immediately. We've all learned some amazing processes. Whether it's been from David Weiss and MED picker trae Simonson and Joint Action Plan. Whatever process you liked US urge you to treat your ideas with the same level of care that you would to one of your sales plans. Your ideas reflect your creativity and you want to give them the best chance to succeed so list out your ideas and go through deliberate sales process with each. I guarantee you could translate whatever current sales process or process. You subscribe to in order to sell your ideas. Just think about it. Each idea will solve a problem for your organization and delivers a specific impact. List out each idea. The problem it solves and next to the impact your organization if you solve it a pick chart for ideas if you will make the idea personal your boss. Might WanNa make quota but your CEO needs to increase market share. You need to know how your idea and show how your idea generates revenue in quantify it and you need to create urgency. How will this get your boss and upper management's attention to act create a chart enlist this all out? One of my favorite sales quotes also applies to ideas. If the problem is the reason to change the impact is the urgency to change. I like to say things like if we continue to do things this way. This is what we might be risking or not capturing by failing to try this when you create impact. Make it massive. If it is a massive likely won't gain enough attention or to really catch on you want momentum and excitement you're looking for. I love that idea. Let's do it not. Oh yeah that's a good idea. And then crickets. Can you gain support for the idea across the organization if so with WHO? What's your budgeting process? Look like budget timelines. Does it require a financial investment? If so what's the ROI even better? Can we start with no revenue investment if the investment is not revenue but just productivity time clearly spelled out all things you can put in a chart? You're going for. How can you make it really easy? For Management to say yes remove friction and make them think that they lead little to no extra work on their end and this will just be extra money. That's coming in mark. Cuban one set a great quote when he said the greatest value you offer to. Your boss is to reduce their stress so clearly show them. How your idea does that for them? I'm always eager to get ideas out there but to make them really catch on. We need to put a deliberate process behind them. There's so many examples of people doing that in this community who came up with a new idea. Internally to increase visibility with senior execs get promoted increase influence at companies and learn along the way a quote that really guides me on the importance of selling ideas and building. Excitement was said by the iconic businesswoman and founder of Mary. Kay Cosmetics Mary. Kay Ash when she said a mediocre idea that generates enthusiasm will always go further than a great idea that inspires no one so I urge you to go forth and create a killer process with your next idea at work in generate incredible excitement at your organization. I'd love to hear from you on what ideas you've pitched that worked well and maybe also we can swap stories of one's that didn't talk about why. I'm always gained a chat.

Kinda spoke it into existence. Some guys he's gotTa say it out loud Well at twenty four could make you trip stack to dizzying the homes of the setting youngest quarterback to win a super bowl sandwich. "How in God's name did they go oh for that fourth and one or why did he punted on fourth and one this this game is for the number two seed in the NFC play you gotta go for it? You know things like that but we never ever have a chance to have those kinds of because they're not an NFL franchise play in the NFL but they're not an NFL franchise life but they're about to become one. Aren't they buddy or are they about to become aren't they about become one isn't change on the horizon. Yes so all right. So let's go there because we got to get to Strasbourg prosper gear and there are other things too but couple of things So I do believe that. There's a chance something will happen this week. Talking about it for a few weeks now on this was You know and I felt for a while. That Bruce Allen's not coming back I think the sound era is GonNa end I do I. I don't know that I'm not reporting it But it's a pretty informed formed hunch that they're going to move in another direction. They're going to be changes. I think I felt the same way last year. Based on a lot of the same sort of informed hunches understand that that this time last year I was pretty bought in sold when they got eliminated. I thought there was no chance Bruce Allin was coming back. I didn't think GRUDEN was coming back. I thought there would be major. Change in there wasn't so when you have sort of an owner who is impulsive and you know He could change his mind. My bet is he's not going to they're going to be changes but then I saw something this morning talked about this on the radio show. Maybe you know who these people are. Do you know who pro football Prof pro football network is the pro football now. I don't nor I'd never heard of them either but they put out a tweet that somebody sent to me overnight and I saw it early this morning. They wrote that according to Albright. NFL that's Benjamin Albright. He is Scott. It's got eighty six thousand followers. He's a Colorado Denver guy and an NFL reporter. He may host a show in Denver. That may be how we know that that name. And maybe he's had a story before but he reported that chiefs coordinator Eric Be enemies somebody to watch his early front runner for the Redskins head coaching job. When I read that it eight immediately triggered the following response? Because I've talked about this on the podcast going back. You know three weeks almost a month now. Dan Snyder's new golden. Boy Is Alex Smith Right. He really likes Alex Smith A lot. They get along and sits next film during Games. And you know I. I talked about this about a month ago that you know if Alex doesn't come back as a player don't be shocked if he comes back in another capacity. Well Eric B enemy and Alex Smith know each other very well. Eric Enemies Bench in Kansas City. On Andy Reid Staff for since twenty twelve or twenty thirteen. It's been five six seven years something like that. So he was there for Alex Smith and if the enemy is being considered. There's no doubt in my mind that there's Alex Smith influence in us because Dan Snyder wouldn't know Eric Danny from anybody else So Alex Smith you know that's one potential path here. That wouldn't shock me. Is Alex Smith having a significant job in the organization. I Eric B enemy being sought after to be the head coach and that's the direction they go in. That wouldn't surprise me either. There are other paths that I think are out there now. What about the todd? Bowles JOE GIBBS CBS path. And don't forget when Jagran was fired. You know offshore books. Were putting up blinds and Eric. B enemy was the favorite day. Jay Gruden was fired. True remember we weren't sure sure. What the reason why? The reason was that he was going to be the number. One on anyone's you're right Erin. That's exactly right and be enemy is going to be sought after. Yeah I any eighteen with an opening. Yes but what about the todd Bowles Joe Gibbs connect. Well that's always a connection that I thought was a good one I'm not hearing. I haven't heard anything about that recently. Also keep in mind Tampa's defense this year's not been very allies with bowls but that wouldn't deter me at all The this would so four owner that let's just say he rids himself of perhaps his his biggest. You know weight right now. Which would be Bruce Allin in terms of his ability to go out and create something new? That's legitimate without just taking people that are unemployed employed you know. That's basically what they do with their coaching staff flashers. They had to take people who were out of coaching or didn't have any other opportunities now. Part of that was because Jay Gruden was perceived is lame duck. I understand that but you know Alex Smith may be his opportunity to be perceived as legitimate intimate. Would Alex Smith do you think co first of all would he and then the second part is could he would he tell Dan Snyder or no not about the job but just no I mean because part of the problem. Let's face it. Dan Snyder does not employ people who will say not him. That's right not you're right about that Sell what would Alex Smith. I would say they'll feel phil confident enough and powerful enough to to to say you know you're wrong Dan. You can't do this. I have no idea but I would lean no. I would lean no because because from what I've heard. Alex Smith Really Likes Twain. Haskins which by the way the owner really likes Twain Atkins and not to say that. That's the only reason he saying he likes. Join Haskins to buddy up with the owner. Potentially get a big time job maybe maybe the GM job you know it would be out of the box higher. But we've seen more of those in recent years witness. What happened in San Francisco Online? John Lynch if they were going to hire out of the box sorry thom he don't comment on this. I would hire Chris schooling because he's been right about every single college player that he is analyzed including the guy that he said he would taken a quarterback which is drew lock. I don't know if he's right about drew. We're lucky at one good game. I'm I'm exaggerating. But it looks like he can play maybe How would we feel about Alex? Smith how people were very excited very excite Whi while because Alex Smith is perceived as a unblemished untouched inexperienced to yes S.. Put but unspoiled. You know like he's. He is a bright light and Dan. Snyder is is the darkness and and I think people would love to bask in the bright light of Alex Smith. The human being as much as anything you know because it's been a long time time since you've had a human being charged at Redskins Park. Let's face it you know. It's interesting Vinnie Serrato. You know this I think to a certain degree he was obviously not legitimately qualified to be an NFL general manager. I shouldn't say wasn't qualified. He wasn't a good but he he actually was a good guy. Well Kevin you can't be a good guy and carry out and be henchman okay. You can't vote now. You can be a a good guy. You can be a guy that you can't respect. Yeah that's like saying like a mall Pitman. Well he was a good guy. Well you know he was a good guy. I follow me all around on this podcast and I think your family well and all that was not a good guy. He wasn't evil like Brunell Nelson. That's the thing that's my point. Is that Vinnie. Actually you know was I think he was a decent human being okay but he can't he can't be a decent human being and work for dance. You can't do well anyway. This enemy Alex Smith thing the enemy news. I don't know if it's credible or not. Not Let me just start there. I don't know enough about Addow Albright. NFL or pro football network. You know this wasn't pro football talk you know. This wasn't pro football focus on they don't do reporting but I I don't know how credible it is. Credible it is. I do have a sense that Alex Smith is one of the new favorite people. Colin Dan Snyder's life and that he really respects him and he gets along with them and that he really That he that he believes believes in in what he believes in like he he. He Views Alex. Smith is a really good smart resource. Okay Paul Resource may ask you something hold on. I just want to say one thing I don. I don't think I'd have a problem with it because just like when Mike in Bruce came in here versus Dan invented it was like it. Just beat the hell out of the alternative in in the moment and I think I would feel that way but Alex Smith has no experience to be a general manager not they brought them in in another capacity and elevated Kyle Smith to General Manager and Alex Smith was somehow influential and the decision maker. Maybe he was you know Director of personnel. I will see you got some sort of title director of Dan Snyder You know I don't. I don't know that I have a problem with it. And I don't know that Eric Enemy to me is very intriguing. But they've ed some talent and Kansas City. Let's not forget that they got tyreek Hill. They got Travis Kelsey. They've they did have Kareem Hunt. They've got a guy you may have heard of them. Patrick Mahomes a quarterback Haskins to me so far even though I've been more positive than negative not Patrick Mahomes. He's not even drew lock. Well it's one game that drew. Okay well I know that I'm still waiting for the one. I'm sorry I'm still waiting for the one game from Twain Haskins I know so I'll Kevin yes. If there is a Bruce Allin departure is friendly. And if it's friendly does that mean Bruce Oun we'll still have a voice voice in the organization can as an advisor or him. I don't have the answer but he can't tell me you can't have them you could. He's got to retire. Hire or be fired so that you can get the maximum benefit of his exit. If he's reassigned well it wouldn't surprise me because is Dan. Snyder is clearly detached from what is fan base or majority of the fan base. Thanks but nobody then is going to buy into it. Nobody is now if you wanted to hire him. Name is an outside consultant for the stadium. You know okay. But he can't be in the building by the way that would be at least agree with me building. I agree or you don't the benefit of having a short term benefit. You're going to get from his exit and trust me. It will be short term. Whatever short term benefit you'll get you're not gonNa get if he's still connected with the team in any way shape or form and hire him as a consultant for the stadium is an absolute waste of time a waste of time? Yeah I I don't I don't have any influence on the stadium. You still think about it. Just as quick.

We'll be a good test right. That's right and grab a screamer this summer. A group of submarine hobbyists is who build subs themselves spent a week on flathead lake as volunteers. Alex smith is the site's founder and seems to be working out the group's seven members solicit expedition ideas from researchers through their website and because they're not commercial operators. No money exchanges his hands. They're just in it for the experience. It's much more rewarding to use your sub that way than to just putter around and just come home with a family family video. The NFL's best and worst offensive arsenals: Barnwell's 32-1 ranking

"Barnwell writes these very lengthy pieces on E._S._p._N.. Dot Com and he wrote a piece that that came out early this morning ranking the N._F._L.'s. Goals offensive arsenals thirty two worst all the way to number one <hes> and basically you know he's considering how the players that the teams have will perform in twenty nineteen. He's not necessarily really just basing it off of recent <hes> recent performance. He's he's he's guessing on what you know. It will be in two thousand nineteen any says also that the as as a preface it with a lengthy the preview before he started ranking them of course in love with is that the arsenals are weighted <hes> the arsenal rankings are weighted more towards receivers than tight ends or running backs <hes> any says also the top elite level talent wins out over depth anyway the rankings start with the thirty second ranked offense of Arsenal Jacksonville Bennett's Denver Miami Seattle and then the Redskins so the redskins have the fifth worst offensive offensive arsenal in the N._F._l.. According to a bill barnwell any rights the investments Washington is made it wide receiver haven't worked out former former seahawks wide out Paul Richardson signed to a five year forty million dollar deal wasn't healthy and Seattle and cautious watches twenty passes in seven games last season former first rounder. Josh DACHSHUND hasn't developed in Washington. Just decline the fifth year option on Dachshund Jamison crowder left the jets <hes> mister relevant Trey Quinn will be as replacement Jay Gruden gruden drafted Terry maclaurin in the third round but there but is there any reason to think Washington is going to start developing whiteouts effectively. This is likely the league's worst group of starting wide receivers while that's the kind those kind the tools you wanNA put around a rookie quarterback and you know the funny thing is according to warn sharp. This is the most expensive offense in the N._F._l.. This mostly costly offense. Well take the field the N._F._l.. Because of the Investment Alex Smith and you know that is not going to write to pay off <hes> yes so I mean again another reason why you you WanNa put this on this limited offense in the hands hands of a quarterback who understands limitations in that case keenum. It's Cole McCoy too but I'm going to operate on the assumption that cultures isn't going to stay healthy so <hes> that's case keenum you don't want to <hes> experiment and test out a rookie <hes> with these with these kind of weapons <hes> especially if you're Jay Gruden and you know you have the expectation or the hope and we're assuming he does is of of having team good enough for him to remain as head coach. You know what's interesting. I was thinking about this as I was reading this early this morning. <hes> that the redskins according to Barnwell look I mean I don't know if it's the worst it's certainly among the five for six worst greg in a starting wide receiver groups and the N._F._l.. And we we know that you know in terms of offensive weapons they don't have much. I mean you have to pray. The Jordan Reed comes back plays thirteen games in his Jordan Jordan Reed again. You got to hope that Chris Thompson is a weapon out of the backfield. The dairy skies pays off as a second round pick and turns into a a guy that with Adrian Peterson is a big time back that that that <hes> Vernon Davis continues to be effective in it somebody somebody whether it's Richardson Dachshund or Harmon or maclaurin. Somebody steps up you.

Broncos trading Keenum to Redskins

"Case keenum to the Washington Redskins that one will officially happen next week as well bought they swapped late round picks, the split his salary keenum expendable in Denver. With of course, Joe flacco now in a Broncos uniform. So the Broncos really stopgap quarterbacks last year, it was case keenum this year's going to be Joe flacco course, Peyton Manning was not a stopgap when they got him in John Elway zero. That was a big time acquisition that helped the Broncos win a Super Bowl and get to another one. So the last couple of years though, they're trying to find some magic here with some guys off the scrap heap. I don't know how much flacco has left in the tank we'll find out in twenty nineteen. But case keenum to me is a good backup quarterback in the NFL. I guess he's an okay starter on a mediocre to bad team. Maybe, but I don't see case keenum the long-term answer in DC. They had to do some where you really going to go into the season with an injured Alex Smith and Colt McCoy and a rookie if they were to drop on. We'll talk more about the

NFL Rumors Mailbag: Kyler Murray, Justin Houston Trade

"Yeah. What this is shocking to me in the sense that when we were having this discussion about quarterback musical chairs in the fall. My thought had always been the Jags are going to draft a quarterback. And it still seems to me like the more prudent direction here is for them to move up for Golic Hoskins or Murray rather than giving Nick foles twenty million dollars a year when you're already over the cap, it just I just don't understand what if the answer is both. And what I mean by this is that Dave Gettleman came out and said the sin. I think this has the opportunity to be very dumb trend around the league. But did other came out and said, we'll work was the Kansas City mom's it's stupid way to think about which is adding a veteran die on a legitimate contract. And then the guy learning behind him. Now, I don't think that them bring in foles precludes them from taking quarterback in the first two rounds. I don't know if they bring in foles, obviously at a number like twenty they're not gonna trade up into the top five, but they could still draft a a significant future starter quarterback type guy. Now, I think is a couple of things we need to to sort of peel back on with the Kansas City model first of all not everybody's gonna be Patrick Mahomes. Second of all the infrastructure in Kansas City was so remarkably good perfect. They basically structure had Nagy and and read working with Smith and they assigned Mike kaffa to Patrick Mahomes. And so you. Had not only Mahomes working with Alex Smith every day working with read in in meetings. But also anytime he needed something explained to him. He basically had the quarterbacks coach at his disposal. The infrastructure and other places is not going to be like that. There aren't three really smart or four because out include Eric b enemy in that. There are not four really smart innovators in thirty one of the other teams in this league. So if you're going to try the Kansas City, Molly better have Kansas City coaches, and you'd better have talent like Patrick Mahomes need better have a leader like Alex Smith. I just think that was a unicorn if you want to replicate a good luck. It does not make sense to me to allocate your resources in that way. If you're going to sign Nick foles, the idea of drafting a quarterback in the first two rounds, you are team that is built to win at this very moment. That's why you're signing foles using a high level draft pick on a quarterback while also burning twenty million bucks on your starter that I I have no idea. Why teams think that's a good? It's the same thing. The cardinals last year paying Sam Bradford what they did. Wall dressing. Josh Rosen like just put him in just put him in. I it's Mahomes is such a different case in that team was on such a different part of where they wanted to go in their schedule. The Jacksonville Jaguars are there. But why would you tr what would you also draft the guy? I just don't understand that at all. I don't know teams plan specifically. But there are a lot of teams don't know what they're doing. No. There are a lot of towns lie they're doing I don't know if anybody's looked into the last the NFL's celebrating one hundred years and one of the Constance is like my field of dreams speech. The only constant is a lot of teams and have no idea what they're doing my favorite part about. This is gonna be what happens with the offensive line market the players in the pass rushing market or good enough that even with those top four guys off giving Dante Fowler big deal or Trey flowers Iansa. There are players I like in that group more than others. But I'm still okay. With a guy like trae flowers. Getting paid. But it's going to be amazing when the guy Daryl Williams is off the board and then Roger Sappho than teams like, well, we're the Donovan Smith winners five years sixty million.

"We will join the AFC division game between the patriots and the chargers. And then following that. We'll get the NFC. Division game between the Philadelphia Eagles who travel to New Orleans to face the New Orleans Saints. And then the racing report was saying the Sunday supplement and Willie from nine to midnight tomorrow night. So that's your Sunday rundown. Yeah. Let's talk a little NFL little colts with Ricky in Indiana. Ricky what's going on? Fantastic. Brother. What'd you think? Are you? Well, yeah, we're waiting on the Los Angeles Rams season to end because it looks like Zack Taylor the quarterbacks coach is going to become the next head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. So more power to the Rams and does act Taylor. Get a new coach in here. And let's get this program. Back on track. Because I don't believe it's one of the worst jobs that were opened in the National Football League. You've got a patient owner you've got out several outstanding players you just gotta keep adding to that Ed to the offensive line. And you know, Rick I can live with Devon white because I mean every mock draft see has LSU linebacker Devon white six one to forty. He's an absolute stud going to the Bengals at number eleven my feeling is. And I like the Bengals quarterback. Andy Dalton the red rifle. I think he can get you to the playoffs. I don't thinking he can win you a Super Bowl and a guy. Can I believe is Dwayne Haskins some day, and I like the Bengals to draft a quarterback into Wayne Haskins. He probably won't last two eleven. So you might have to go up trade up and get him. Okay. He's probably gonna go to the New York Jets or giants at six. Okay. And what what I'm afraid of is it the Pittsburgh Steelers knowing that Ben Rothlisberger is on the eighteenth tee of his career what one year max to me probably next year. Really should be it for Ben. They could definitely trade Antonio Brown because he is absolutely fallen out of favor with that franchise. Get a first round pick for him and use those picks to move up and take twain Haskins and. A whole bunch of Buckeye fans will become Steeler fans. No doubt. If that happens. So Ricky, and I know you're looking forward to baseball season, brother. So am I we're gonna talk who's going to be the reds center fielder? You got any predictions for me? Right now. Right. Well, I'm gonna put my chips to the middle of the table. And I'm gonna take Philip Ervin. Let's give him a chance and brother, we will talk soon. Appreciate the call from Valparaiso, Indiana, man. You are the man. Thanks so much Rik in Valparaiso Brandon's in Indianapolis, Brandon. What is going on paychecks for a little bit disappointed with I'm disappointed with the I like the Bengals stupid. I'm a colts fan. And what? Yeah. That was disappointing. They just couldn't generate anything and this this could be at for Adam venit, Terry. It is. I think it is what he's had a great career. You know? But I I don't know if it's the weather had an impact, you know. But I think Kansas City now takes I mean, I don't know if they can beat nor I could be wrong. You don't want everyone account New England out. But I thought we had a chance trickster, and I think a lot of people giving the colts a chance because. Defense is effective. But today, I think they just showed what they are about. You know, I think whoever has to go there. It's going to be hard for if it is New England or the chargers, but you never wanna Brady out. But I don't know. I think this year the chiefs get that stick it to them just kind of a morbid sense of if the New England wins tomorrow to have them get run out of the gym at Arrowhead. I would love it. Sorry. New England Patriots fans, but van I am tired of them in the in the AFC title game. I I am to see it as far as as far as the Bengals go. I I hope I hope they get the right coach. You know? I, you know, I mean, you know, the the Rams seasons. Don't go one. In hope. I wish the best for Marvin. I think he was a nice guy and all time for a change. But with the quarterback situation you were talking about Dwayne Haskins if the Bengals could draft him somehow cut me, they tried the read rightful or. Kind of like an AJ McCarron type deal if he would he would tutor Dwayne Haskins for a year and then Andy move on and make bigger dollars. Elsewhere. He would be trae trading. Yeah. He could he's like Alex Smith he could make a bunch of money elsewhere. But but the, but but groom Dwayne Haskins free year Dwayne takes over and twenty twenty. Andy Dalton moves on. I don't want to hear about what you're saying. Is you don't think doll the guy that can get you over the hump and away? Correct. Yeah. I think it probably win you a playoff game. I don't think you can get you to a Super Bowl and other that great guy. He's a good career. He's a good player. But I need an impact player taking snaps. As far as you say real quick. I know you won't get so much time as far as you see. Because were going on. 'cause I mean with not follow Butler, and because I'm from here. But. Did listen to you? See I don't think there's good as last year with oh, look who all you lost. But obviously football game tonight. But I did hear Macron's comment. He was not happy. But I think they're going to be okay. I guess against they're still NCWA. You probably know more about fourteen in three, and this is a very balanced deeper American athletic conference, and I'm loving the fact that Wichita states in there, and it's bringing back memories of the old Missouri valley when I was a kid, and that was the best conference in the land. And Brandon I gotta run man. Thanks. Yeah. Baby. I mean, I think so I really do. Yeah. They're starting to find themselves in just a huge boost to beat to beat Georgetown into comeback. Like they did. Thanks so much. I appreciate it. And I want to talk a little Cincinnati Reds when we return who is going to play center field for this club. And I wanna talk a little bit of the lineup one through eight man. Yeah. When we return

Extreme Temperatures May Pose Risks To Some Mail-Order Meds

"It's become pretty common to order drugs through the mail and Amazon has jumped into the game. So that market could get even bigger, but there are still some big questions about safety. Alex Smith is with member station. Casey. You are the weather in park hills in eastern Missouri can be all over the map, according to resident Loretta Bozing. We experienced temperatures like they would fill in Arizona. You know? Sometimes we experience the temperatures like they fill up north Bozing things. Those extreme temperatures played a part in a health scare involving her son Wesley in two thousand twelve when Wesley was too he got so sick from the flu that he needed a liver transplant the surgery went well, but just a few months later lab tests showed Wesley body appeared to be rejecting the organ Bozing felt devastated and guilty. I feel that extra duty not just protecting his life. But the life that lives on inside him in the end, Wesley rallied and kept his new liver. But Loretta kept wondering what might have gone wrong. Then he remembered that when his transplant medications were last livered they had been left outside by the garage where they sat for hours temperatures that date were in the hundreds far higher than the safe range listed on the drugs guidelines at the time. She hadn't worried about it. Even though I see plainly on the bottle. You know that it says store at room temperature. I still thought someone's making sure it was safe. But after Wesley setback Bozing swore off mail order altogether. And this year, she started a Facebook group for patients who are worried about mail order drugs. She thinks all insures should give their customers easy access to retail pharmacies and less mail. Order companies can prove the drugs are getting to patients at the right temperatures. There are three big mail order companies Express Scripts CVS care, Mark. And Optima ex all three insist. They've got the shipping down to a science and warehouse in Kansas City. Optima ex-workers pet specialty medications with ice pack. An insulated containers lead pharmacist Alicia Heller explains that this warehouse shipped up to one hundred thousand prescriptions day, and includes assistance to account for weather. There's an extreme heat situation. The system will tell the technician to add an extra ice pack because we've monitored the zip code and the weather in that area, but it up Rx and across the industry room temperature medications, like most blood pressure or cholesterol drugs are just dropped in bubble. Mailers Stephen echo a pharmacy. Professor at the university of North Carolina thinks this can lead to some drugs being damaged a lot of people. Enjoy the convenience of mail order. But there are some risks we've discussed that they have to understand echo says it's possible that medications in oral suspension like Wesley was taking could be affected by extreme heat or cold echo thinks. It's just a matter of time before mail order pharmacies start using temperature controlled packaging for non specialty drugs as well and include a temperature monitor in each package, so customers know their drugs never got too hot or too cold during shipping, but pharmacy consultant Adam find says that approach would just drive up costs, and he points out that many. It's already guarantee customers the right to use retail pharmacies if they prefer he thinks the temperature concerned are overblown. We have literally billions and billions of prescriptions that have been dispensed by mail over many many years without evidence of widespread. Har- some room temperature drugs are okay to spend up to twenty four hours in temperatures as low as the upper fifties to his high. It's one hundred four but scientists just don't know what happens to many medications in more extreme temperatures. In fact, a few studies suggest that some inhalers or drugs like antibiotics can lose potency Bozing has gotten a waiver that let's get Wesley's medication at a specialty pharmacy in Saint Louis, but she's continued to advocate on the issue. I don't want my son to receive special treatment, I want everyone to have access to safe medications in Missouri. The board of pharmacy will review its mail order prescription policies and his invited voting to testify later this week for NPR news. I'm Alex Smith in park hills. Missouri. And that story is part of a partnership with NPR, Casey, you are and Kaiser health news.

"Put those rumors the bed and say no it's not me guys got the wrong guy i are definitely still in washington only to find out a little bit later that he actually was the guy the guy traded so i'm saying it's time to get a new aged kendall yes it stabbing in a new aged it's good that you had a new team because they didn't think very highly of you to tell you hey the trading bloc yeah it would be nice to maybe give him a heads up next on hey manual and traded that that that little lie the wind out of a lot of brown's hands when they seen it alex smith was going to the washington redskins i think that was like the over that the overall feeling here that that people thought we had a chance at alec smith and cleveland yet john dorsey the new general manager for the browns comes here from kansas city via uh unemployment let's say and since he got let go or step down in kansas city last year and i think that was the natural connection for everybody i think it's pretty well known that dorsey is a guy that doesn't want to play with the rookie quarterback he thought really highly of alex smith and i think everyone sort of expected that sort of naturally to happen because there wasn't any obvious trade destinations for alec smith outside of the browns and all of a sudden outta nowhere in a time that nobody expects now we wake up and he gets treated to the redskins so now browns fans are panicking is that that make the browns fant like through that make the browns one of a loser of the straight no and here's why what has my notes your 'damas prediction is coming true yeah this just puts the browns one step closer to signing kirca's unless you're going with israel briefly.

"What's it called six here have doesn't or the other you know you got to look at it it's a close call but to me it it is just to wash because clearly the redskins are just saving money more than anything else alex smith to me the game manager he's not a game changer what kirk cousins again cost a lot of money for do they can't even get you to the pacific maybe it's not his fault maybe we need to be looking at j glued maybe they doesn't need to be to goudin's coaching in the national football league in a head coach and we all they can no one's going to sit a up the essay john gruden doesn't deserve to be a head coach job but jake rooted that's a discuss it that's worth having no question about it but if you to washington redskins i'm not franchise tag in a gang kirk cousins paying kirk because it's all that money i could miss the playoff bob handsome body considerably less than i would have had to pay him neither alex smith nor kirk cousins to think is the kind of quarterback who will stop in otherwise great team from winning a super bowl put neither is one that's going to put an otherwise good team over the top and win them a super bowl there are kind of the same guy that way the one thing you mentioned about alec smith with the low turnover stephen a i would actually like to see that number go up a little bit because it would say to me that what is missing from alex smith really middle gunslinger he needs a little more than you usually don't say that about a quarterback usually they have too much but he's missing the number one overall pick he's missing that and he could use a little more of that i think that super low turnover ratio for him at the section total for him his maybe actually just for him not a great sign one more thing about the nfc east now the eagles and the giants both have now two teams in the division were generally the quarterbacks not going to throw the ball more than ten yards like i know smith that it more early last season.

redskins kirk john gruden jake alex smith super bowl nfc eagles goudin football washington alec smith ten yards
