"Ahead on the Bloomberg business of sports show But first let's look at some of the top stories of the week and let's start with a rod Yes we know him as a rod Alex Rodriguez investing in fight promoter professional fighters league which goes to show you that when you have enough money Damien you can invest in anything Isn't that the truth I mean look you know about a rod's back You know he's had some kind of some stumbles in terms of finding some investments for this back but it looks like he found something here and fight promoter PFL It looks like he is I think the initial round that he's now in values the company at something on the order of half a $1 billion right And he joins others like a brompton Ares capital I believe even with Khalifa are invested in the organization And so look you know I mean ultimate fighting I mean MMA that's hot stuff Michael You know it Yeah When you get into a rod and the investments his name alone can draw a lot of investors Absolutely I mean look you know a rod is now also I believe a controlling shareholder of the Minnesota Timberwolves I believe Yeah So he's been making moves and look you know I mean kudos to him because I think what it comes down to for a rod and what makes it so impressive to me are the partners he chooses So when he invested in the tea wolves I mean I think Mark lore former exec at Walmart was kind of his partner and that deal And look I mean just looking at the partners here for PFO I mean like I said Edgar rafman and so forth It looks like he surrounds himself with some talented investors And could us to him you know you really can't shake a stick at it You know Iran is doing things and he's moving markets A round is going to join the board of directors in this latest deal And I'm sure that he's going to knock a home run He'll be fine with this Next topic to talk about and this is something we might want to bring up with our guests later on too Nick Saban he is calling out Texas a and M for using NIL deals to buy players the Alabama coach who was talking about NIL deals in all the money that you can make He's not happy with Texas a and M right now Well I mean he's not just calling out a and M he's calling out his former assistant Jimbo Fisher right I mean let's be clear And look I mean don't get me wrong I mean there are a lot of things that are wrong with NIL and the fact is if you look at Jackson state for example I think they paid a division one player to enroll They pay them nearly a $1 million And it's these collectives right These third party marketing kind of agencies that are backed by boosters for a specific university that are basically paying these athletes to join the university I mean if you look at University of Miami I think they're paying athletes $400,000 each to be to be a member of that team I mean look it's pay for play now It's no longer about athletes basically earning their keep They're earning before they get there I guess Damien my view has always been if you are an athlete whether you're in college or whether you are pro get what you can while you can do it legally though The athletes are doing what they have to do you know I mean they're basically looking to get paid now I just think it's going to be interesting here Joe Mowgli has thoughts on this because for me is that part of the recruiting process now How much are they going to pay you on the way in How much are you going to get paid over the tenure of your time there And look I mean these transfer rights and all this stuff that goes on I mean the fact that an athlete can basically commit to a university and then leave without any penalty They don't lose a year of eligibility or anything I mean it's just becoming like free agency right At the college level It's unbelievable Next topic if you're worried about the NBA playoffs ratings Don't worry about it According to sportico thanks to the warriors and Celtics we've got some good games and a lot of eyeballs on the TV watching A warrior Celtics matchup is just going to be a huge huge win for the NBA It means a lot also for the Boston area because the Celtics obviously huge for Boston but those restaurants around there by the garden Oh my goodness they are loving every minute of the day Yeah absolutely I mean look look let's be clear that the Celtics still got to get through the heat and Jimmy Butler right I mean Jimmy looks he's lights out But Tatum is really rising to the occasion He just looks awesome Well there was some problems with Al Horford from the fact that you know he's got a clear protocol and stuff like that And they were shorthanded But hey as we progress through the weekend and as we continue on I am smelling NBA playoffs which is why the ratings are looking very good That's right First two rounds I mean of the NBA playoffs we have now seen 4.1 million viewers that's the high since 2018 I think in last year by comparison it was only 3.6 million at this time Maybe coming out of the lockdown people paid a little bit more attention here Up next on the show join me and Damien when we speak with the former chairman of the board and CEO of.

"Tracking that is what then 21 year old Alex Rodriguez set out to accomplish back in 2016 armed with just research and ideas Now he's the youngest CEO of a public company at just 26 Embark went public last week via spac and is aiming to transform the trucking industry with its self-driving trucks the Dale valley embark at $5 billion for more when I bring in Cofounder and CEO Alex Rodriguez Alex congratulations and thank you for joining us So talk to us about where the trucks are now what can you do and what is the vision Thanks for having me It's a super exciting time in the world of self-driving tracks Embark has a fleet of trucks operating today in the U.S. sunbelt making commercial deliveries for big partners like HP and AB InBev And so we're really at an exciting inflection point You can probably see some of the videos here of trucks being on the road making deliveries going from the edge of one city to the edge of another and doing that autonomously The next step the reason that we're going public last week is really to bring in the funding to allow us to take that from a small scale and put it into tens of thousands in trucks in some of America's biggest fleets Let's talk about how you scale aurora has partnered with FedEx two simple has UPS and USPS What kind of logistics partnerships do you have at this point Embark has some of the leading partnerships on the logistics side We're working with folks like knight swift which is the largest tracking company in the United States with Werner with DHL And out of our partners we have 14,200 reservations which is more than double the nearest public comp So how do you make money Talk to us about the business model Yeah that's one of the things that really differentiates embark embark is a software focused company and we have a software as a service business model So we licensed software to those big fleets I just mentioned And those are the people actually buying the trucks and running the operations And then embark is charging between 30 and 40 cents a mile depending on the length of haul for the driver software that we've developed When do you think we see this at scale for example when we're driving on the roads how many years from now will we be almost sure that that truck next to us is using self-driving self trucking technology I like that self tracking It's a big industry Maybe I'll start there And so I think in order for every truck on the road to be transformed that's gonna be a long time But in order for it to start making a big dent and improving efficiency across the U.S. economy I think that's coming really soon Embark is looking to have over 2 billion miles driven in 2024 on the system And so you can really start to see some of that scale coming to a road near you fairly quickly And does it happen sooner than self-driving cars I think many of us expected self-driving cars to be on the road sooner or faster than they have been And maybe it's a consumer safety issue and there are still so many concerns and so much red tape Does the trucking industry self trucking industry develop much more quickly than the industry for consumers I think that's really the key insight that embark had when Brandon and I started the company in 2016 is that trucking by focusing on highway driving can really be a simpler problem And that was really our core insight We started embark back at a time when everyone as you say it was talking about cars We focused exclusively on trucks Today were the longest running program that has been running self-driving trucks on public roads And I think that's a huge advantage It turns out cities are really really complicated And highways are a much more structured environment It's better suited to robotics Interesting well great to hear the vision Alex Rodriguez cofounder and CEO of embark We will keep watching You're self-driving trucks Meantime Amazon is stepping up its efforts to make.

Maybe this is the problem in the first place you wanted to be with somebody with a certain status instead of somebody enjoyed having time with. I don't know but it seems kind of crazy. "Alex rodriguez has rented a home near jennifer lopez as he is spotted with ben. Affleck's ex. Oh this is sloppy. Mistakes sonics rented a mansion in bridgehampton. Fancy new york for the summer a stone throw away from the lopez his own residence in water mail. This is according to page six over the weekend. He shared a video of himself shooting hoops as on his new hamptons home. Which is three minutes away. You get this three minutes away from j.lo's now. These two spent last summer at her sprawling estate in the hampton. So there's no way there's no way he couldn't know what he was doing. Things couldn't get even nastier in this split. "I also think that it kind of squashes any rumor solely like i mean you and i are very good at it and so was piers morgan. For god's sakes is the smuggling annoys you. Oh so much but but yet you see the names. You're not left a question like do they still hate the family do they do like it. I think if anything it is quite the olive branch of showing that. Hey you could say what you want. But at the end of the day we know what's going on family and family and this is just one of the small ways we can honor our family. You know what i mean. Not think about it in your own life. And i know we're not royals exactly the wheel all the not. Come on to name your baby after a relatively middle name even a first name. You've still got deep emotional ties to that family. If you want away from your family you pick names that. Nobody in the family as ever had that. That's the truth. Isn't it when you named your kids guarantee you think about family names and names that being a hundred percent sources. Tell me that all spoken. So they've not really been on very good terms since that big oprah interview in fact. The last time harry spoke to his brother was when he was in britain for his grandpa's funeral. Now i'm told harry and meghan spoke to all their family that that grandmother the queen his father prince charles. His brother william. They wanted them to know before the word got out so queen. Elizabeth did not find out about this on my podcast. Do not gossip all all telephoned. And i think it's a new beginning and even the queen did quick zoom. This might be. Because i watched so much netflix. And i know all about the royals. And i looked vicariously through you robbed. But so so for harry and meghan to let everybody know. Do they have like secret phones. Because or or do they have secret encrypted links to do this we have a staff and they have staffs in london and now in america to who all worked very closely in fact when prince philip died. A staff member frantically tried to get in touch with harry. They couldn't get him. I don't know if he was asleep where his phone was up but they actually ended up calling the british consulate in america in los angeles. Who tracks down harry. So they're sort of these protocols for the speak that's private lines you don't want to crashes zoom call with queen. Elizabeth wycoff stuff is of which us to have poll question of the day. The royal family has put out a statement saying they are delighted by the birth of little debts. Diana mountbatten windsor. It's such a great name. Will this baby help. Heal the family. "That have the cpi in their dna. What was the impetus for launching a fund instead of continuing to do it on your personal balance sheet. We're doing both so. Arc still has fully of about forty companies were taken about six or seven public this year and twenty one probably is saying next year so the market especially early on which was really hot and taking companies public through an ipo or back when we looked marked and i lifted the market. We saw a soft spot in the zone where a lot of people were not doing. What we're doing would be which is the following as we're looking to incubate companies or take companies. That are ready to cede level definitely pre a and a lot of these young entrepreneurs. They're going around trying to raise a million or a million five and mark. And i have we have to p and we feel there's a vision and these young founders or founder is capable of doing something really special will say forget the one and a half years ten will take forty or fifty percent of the company. Today will help you with your vision making more clear. Obviously we're give you the capital and we'll help you capture in the future and then we'll go out and bring the right people around to help us reach our goal so it was done beautifully with archer. Archer morgan i came in some one hundred million dollars. Mark was a big big investor. There i came in a little bit later and we took archer from one hundred dollars and it went public three point six billion and all these haven't been in less than two you're still we looked at their as taking massive positions on early stage or incubating or companies from the ground up the one thing about mark and i with a twenty five years fifty years between us of experiences. We have an army of people up there him attack me in sports and media that we know where the best players are. We have a big idea. We put the team together. We fund it and we bring the people and there we go some curious how you think about the spectrum of you started in real estate which were all these stable cash generating businesses and then you have venture on the other hand. Tra- speculative aggressive as you said earlier. Do you put like portfolio hat on for yourself in air sea and look at these things across the spectrum. The way my brain works is i like hedges. The reason why real estate was so on point for me is as i averaged career as is five and a half years for baseball player while i was lucky enough to play for almost twenty five years. So you can't forecast from me or any human beings play that long right that that would not be fair. Obviously didn't do that. But what i saw is okay. Let's just say play for ten years and let's just say that i'm twenty two when i bought my duplex. I figured that. If i bought one asks to of real estate a year per year mike competitive advantage was had very good w. income from my teams and if the real estate if i'm buying a piece of real estate and i could put some modest dead on it and about ten of them. What when i was aged thirty two i would have ten asa. That's over time. That will pay that down over time. They would appreciate in value. They would appreciate cash flow so by the time might earning power would wear down. My real estate portfolio will go up and that was the way. I started with real estate around baseball when i look. Adventure is almost exactly the same draw. Real estate is the cash cow that throws off a lot of cash. Nothing sexy middle of the road buying units from anywhere from hundreds. It's two hundred thousand per door. Were putting in seventy five percent fannie. Mae non-recourse dat put in twenty five percent equity. We usually refi all our money out in two years and we do it over and over again like nothing sex and excited about that but just an incredible cash machine on the venture sign because of who we are and what we've built in the brand with belt we feel like we can invest in companies at favorable terms with some downside protection. That has an opportunity to be a home run or grand slam in released. They never look at home of the grand slam. Singles and doubles so again is an opportunity that if everything clothes here the real estate will save us in vice versa. And how does sports team fit into that mix. So let's talk about the timber wolves. Yeah i mean. I think it's beautifully because if you think about why am is an athlete that loves business and when you think about a team in the nba blends in all those houses. First of all. I don't see it as a sports team that you and i grew up franchise used to go for fifteen twenty million dollars right. It's crazy fact. That george steinbrenner but the yankees in nineteen seventy-three from cbs. For ten point seven million dollars with a million dollars of equity is like flabbergasting. So i look at these platforms today more like media sports entertainment platforms. That are we look at the. Nba is a great league is is a league does global is a league has joined. The tailwinds is a league as young demographics and groin. Africa just opened up. Aj's it's very big in china and it has wonderful leadership great commissioner and. There's a lot of things like in the nba. What can we do with that franchise. Well if i did it alone. I probably would have done it but i have an incredible partner a fifty fifty partner mark. Laurie who is a wizard when it comes to tech and marketing housings is on with diapers jet dot com in walmart. I think together with my sports background in business and what he brings. The text line is vision. A and we're thinking about doing there. I think it's a marriage made the last. I'm curious how you think about the player perspective given that's your careers athlete and some of the things that you found productive for success. How can you bring that. Into a franchise like the timber. Wolves a lot of is the players are the stars and really making them feel that way treating not only them but their families and their parents in the levels around them is really about educating them. Setting them up to win one of things. Mark north thinking about his created an mba program for players. That's mandatory obviously. We'll have several the union players. Today isn't good enough. I grew up. I wanted to be like how ripken murphy. Rhonda's today kids want to be like mark laurie. I'm mark cuban. Just as much as they want to be like lebron james. Lebron james is both a great business man and have goat on the basketball. Where but the truth is is not good enough for these young guys or women to be thinking. I'm just going to be an athlete. They want more. And i think he'd be can provide more intrigue them where they feel like they are really the star and their families as we have an advantage to bring value to them not only when their plane but post their careers. You mentioned earlier about the blessing. And a cursor being a celebrity and curious as you reflect on that for a rod corp in your investing. What are the benefits. What are the drawbacks of being. So well known. I think the drawbacks start with that is i think they're going to compare you to athletes and entertainers last fifty years and is so easy to read an article so easy to say well. You're an athlete. There's no way you can be sophisticated. And so on and so forth. But i i gotta tell you i have athletes. That are my partners. And there's no better partners that i want to be in a fox hole with their smart. The gritty their patient they have perseverance. They don't quit easy. If you're down they don't give up on the score there down whine and complain. I'm here to tell you. Athletes are incredibly smart people. And i love standing up for them because i was wanting to know what kind of heart all kind of loyalty they hats and i feel the same way about entertainers. Now you have to pick one that matches you someone. That has your moral compass. Someone has your vision long-term vision. And i always tell people invest less not more but.

"The yankees wanted to hire. We have a gap about thirty million dollars. What do we do so we live. Goes quiet for like a minute and a half. I thought he died. I want the buffet. You there he goes then. I'm here. i'm just thinking okay. I got it. I got news eagle bagging steinbrenner's this and they're going to love it. I said okay great. I'm writing. I'm literally shaking my hand. I can't like gonna go with the yankees and warren. Buffett's helping me. And i'm just like some young kid from miami who's not very experienced this so he says okay. There's five big records out their home. Run records willie mays and he goes one by one. Hank aaron babe ruth said if you hit those five and you get a six million dollar bonus in each one of them. They will be happy. I said okay. Great that why would they be happy. He says because essentially they should be making sixty million and paying six ago right. That's perfect so sure enough. I call and get on the phone and say i got a great idea. I've been thinking sunday night. Said about this about for the record. Starting with willie. Mays sixty all the way through babe. Ruth and barry bonds hit each one of them. You pay me six million dollars a piece. If i had done you pay me non. I three payment for three. I love that. i'll call you back. So they went back. They thought about it there were in tampa and they call me back thirty minutes later. Said we gotta deal in literally two weeks later we had the press conference so as you were a player. You met warren buffett during that time Curious how you spent your time in such a way that once you're done playing baseball you're able to explode into the business world like you have a lot of. It is like everything else. I just studied. And i've made a bunch of mistakes one of my superpowers. Both gift incurs has been to their greatly. And i'll take great great risk as i've gotten older a much more averse to that and i think what more downside protection because i'm at a different stage of my life and an accumulated a different type of net worth but i've always been aggressive and played offense to athletes in particular. Ben became friends and mentor dramatic johnson. Greg norman. There were goats on the field. But then they became golds in the boardroom and i studied them incredibly deep and both of them are friends. In both of our mentioned i think one of the dinners. That kind of shifted entire career was about twenty years ago when i was with the rangers. I asked magic. Johnston for a thirty minute meeting. And we met for three and a half hours in a restaurant in beverly hills and he basically walked me through his rojo roadmap the good the bad and the ugly and kind of lessons learned in his career. And i've always admired magic the way he's gone about his business with his humility with networking and with his ability to execute institutional partnerships whether starbucks twenty four venezuelan amc theaters and also the mentor. So basically in a nutshell. The two big takeaways was. You should always try to do some television when you're done because that'll keep your name and your brand out there with the consumer and then to you should do as much public speaking as you can. Because even though people know you in the sports world you're going to be a novice and the business community. And i thought those to advise were incredibly powerful. And i've carried through that advice all the way through and have it from greg greg again. Another institutional guy very aggressive very confident really understands branding and marketing as well as anybody i've ever met. He spent a long time with me. And i didn't understand why he was hard on me saying you've got to come up with your logo. Come up with your logo. I make i. I got to come up with a business. That works is again. Get logo was important. Of course he has the great shark he has it on his golf courses. And a stakes. Wireless plan is god. But it's been a great brand. And he was in. Early guy took stock into i think can cobras in mid of small fortune and then kept building it from there but he had the foresight to say. Don't pay me a fee. Claiming ownership an equity warrants. An play beautifully at the time. He was one of the greatest players in the world is not the best so a lot of it is kind of big picture vision branding and understanding that is not just cash. Your equity has tremendous value. So once you stop playing and you really turn to a-rod corp fulltime how did you think about how you wanted to pursue the business and investing world number-one i understood the plainfield it gift and the curse of being an asleep of being someone. That's well known business a little bit before all these social influencers and kind of sit in in the middle of media entertainment. Sports influence her. But what i wanted most was not to have an image. I wanted to really work on a reputation. I wanted to have a world class championship team. And i wanted to be taken seriously by people like you and your colleagues and we went to the yale endowment if i met with you and and your former boss who passed just a few weeks ago to be seriously right and what what magic taught me is that there's not a meeting you couldn't get but let's be honest ninety and the united of those hundred meetings. Nothing's going to happen. Is you're going to sign something you're going to picture. They're going to get a picture for the grandkids. And you're gonna get nothing so before you enter those doors. Make sure that you go in with plan you can crystallize your story and you have a team that can actually execute. Whatever you're promising. And i just thought that was brilliant invites knowing that as a celebrity or an athlete or -tainer you're not going with no strikes going in with two and a half strikes where there's a big delta between going in with two hundred strikes and choking up and trying to put the bunk play versus thinking that it's a three. Oh count your celebrity and the deal is going to be done and.

"With how you first got interested in business and investing one forty five. Now i started thinking about it when i was probably ten. I call it matubis based on business. That was my ten year old thought. My forty five year old is the three bs baseball business in my babies that are no longer babies teenage girls who are sixteen thirteen. But that's kind of like the those of my world. Those theory and i think just from a business perspective. I wanted it to be a lot like my father. He was a baseball player in a banker. A mess lender. He was also an entrepreneur before people knew what that word meant and we had our own shoe store in arment in washington heights in new york at those really cool. They call my father like the cops later. Because was it was iphones. And he can figure out all the numbers in his head and in many ways. I'm not very good at english. But i'm pretty good at math. So i'm a lot like him. And then i remember watching him and he had all these suits white shirts and again. If you're gonna make closets. I have a few suits and white shirts and i love baseball so my lot like my father many ways and that's why i having kind of his entrepreneur spirit of building teams in thinking about sports and business at an age. When did that turn into investing investing started. Because i was fearful. I saw his thirty for thirty broke and other shows in read article about athletes and entertainers run into some tough luck. Post their careers and that scared the crap out of me. I just started looking at some data right as a teenager. What i saw was three things that just jumped off the page one baseball players in average of five and a half years you play ninety percent of career from age twenty to thirty and make ninety percent of your income from age twenty to thirty in less than five percent of baseball player sh at the professional level college degree. If you look at those three data points. I was sure what the stock of who is going to be long term wealthy so because those data points in the possibilities of run into financial issues i thought about investing in my early twenty s. How'd you start to learn. Started with my mom. My mother had several jobs. She was a secretary in the morning and serve tables at night. And i remember her bringing her tip money home and as a ten eleven year. Old chit here. No we're in miami. My father had left when i was ten. I remember. she will go into her massachu- man. I would help her get the mattress up and she would take her envelope of cash and put it in there. And i asked him on. Why not just go to the bank like there's this bank and the bank just right on the street and she goes well. We don't trust banks trust mattress. It was a telling moment for me. The other part was that. I saw the rents coming very quickly. Even those every thirty days for aransas. What we we never bought anything. We would always be in renton. We kept moving every eighteen months. Philip the renske every three or four days and it was painful for me to watch. I wanted to slow down time. And i remember as at eleven twelve year old boy went down to my knees and saying dear. God can you slow down time for my mom and number two if i ever get an opportunity to trade places with the landlord i will and sure enough. Ten twelve years later. I had my first opportunity to buy a duplex and needed a forty eight thousand dollars down payment. I needed a loan from the bank. I did both that led to selling for double and then a four plex flex. And then i ended up going up or folio just over ten thousand apartment units in fourteen states all over the southeast on belts i wanted to dive into all the different investments but i know somewhere along the way you touch base with their friend warren buffett and curious to hear the story of how you first met him. Wild story was in two thousand and one. I was the youngest free agent in the market and so drafted one out of westminster christian and ninety three as a seventeen year old teenager and that twenty four i was free agent input of the advantages out of coming out of high school and being in the major leagues at age eighteen was that you create a market much sooner said twenty four. To six years later. I was a free agent and there was a very healthy market. Economy was doing well at sports. And i got this really large contract. Two hundred and fifty two million over ten years by tom. Hanks tummy aches. Is a private equity guy. Leveraged buy out of texas and because the contract was so big but specifically because it was so long ten years were stunned. The market hadn't really seen too much of the last three or four years was almost impossible to ensure because there wasn't a lot of comes so we had no problem the first seven years but tom hanks is having a hard time with the last three years i guess he put word out in the market and basically said i'll take that piece of paper our insured if you wire this much money by tomorrow at eleven o'clock in the morning. You've gotta deal tom. Hanks and of course. I'm nervous because it's peterson shirt. Maybe there's a chance to go federal so warren makes the offer tom. Hanks sends the investment. Warren insurers my contract and when i heard that story i thought it was so cool. I cold called him. Debbie who's is longtime assistant. I thought i was going to get a call back or anything sure enough. They emailed me back. But i email. I wanna i understand. We're partners love to come see my partners. I want to say. I'm working really hard. And your investment is safe of me. That started a series of trips to omaha from miami. Where would i went about half a dozen times omaha and it was always the same thing. Though spent with rows of me in his office we will look at the portfolio. He will give me some great advice and then we'll have a great dinner and he always made me finish with a big sunday. You work hard to protect my investment. I was a running joke. Show i know from the first time. I met him and he goes. Oh seven oh eight you had recently signed with the yankees and he had told the story of how he was a little bit involved in that signing and love to hear that story as well. I was negotiating at the time. With the late hank steinbrenner randy and how steinbrenner it was my extension to come back because i had opted out and we were basically stuck at a number and we know how to get past it. So i had a lifeline. I'm like is sunday night. Would he do well. You call warren buffett. If you're lucky enough to have a man in your contract and it was an incredible phone call is probably three and a half minutes. But the i always say mr buffet. He says that was my dad. I'm warren search worn. We have a problem and okay shoot. Let me get a little notebook. And he rates down. What's the problem as what we're stuck at this number..

Give them a loose dress code. Well within caller. I'm blanking right now. But we talked to one of them last week candy. Thank you talked to candy. What was a couple of days ago. And she said yes. They wanted a dungeon theme and so they were all kind of going all for it. So it's like snl me. Theat candy candy has done. Show that she goes on the road that went to and it was quite a naughty of attacks. My favorite thing to watch during reunions is. Just keep your eyes on andy cohen's face when things just start to go down. There's no way that was water in that in that bottle the drain because this is a lot and the fact that he can actually control these women during these reunions rise. I wouldn't loosely patriot. That's trees so they do have to back off when he tells them to like several tov. Look your needs. It ended the bucks. We'll stop with me. Do you think these women truly just. I know that there's some friendships in there. But i also feel like they also just ate each other so much. I think they are. They finish in of frenemies. That is exactly what this cast is not just them but they they are a frenemies and when they do interviews and they're not shooting they admit that they don't see each other when the cameras aren't rolling they don't hang out with each other. I mean some maybe yes but for the most part phases. Yeah this is no. This is for tv and for it makes great tv. I will be watching all three very clear. All right coming up. It is the coolest thing i've ever done in my whole entire life. So if you can do that talk to your doctor if it works out do it like lion king style. Grab it and killed it up. But the placenta thing i dunno. Both of my doctors strongly drives me not to do it. Yeah i think it becomes just like everything with motherhood and childbirth. I think every decision is so individual. And i've talked to so many women that have yet and the women that have said there's so many benefits for that right like they felt like it helped with postpartum mood it. Some of them had helped with milk. Production it helps with hormone levels and other women were like. I never even thought of it. And it's just not for me. And that's what i've noticed and i feel like you'll totally agree when it comes to kids and motherhood and parenting judge anyone or pass judgement for the decision that people make on how they want to raise their own. Kids handle their own childbirth. Y'all y'all do whatever you want to do. That makes you happy else yes. Placenta pills are in my future. Okay i'll give you one. If you wanna try okay are lactating really what is right. Yeah the poor and the baby. That's cool you should I is happy to let the world know..

"Lie 11 hold of Famer and you know, Burt, you come up. It's funny, cause you were in the broadcast booth for a long time. So you saw the game evolved from your perch in the booth. But you come up in 1970. And you know, at that point, you know, middle infielders still kind of slapping it the other way, you know, Good wheels Center field. They're just, you know, dropped down a few bumps, not a power guy. For the most part, you had a first baseman that could move with pop. Maybe a third baseman that could hit a little bit in your right fielder is pretty much it And then the game evolved and pretty much everybody could go up. Oh, now at this point if you're on the stage next year with, say, Get about shielding. That's the pitching aspect. If you're on the stage with with bonds, will you feel you have any animosity toward him or others? Whether it's big Poppy? A rod whomever, Sosa McGwire. We know the names Palmero. If you have to share the same stage with somebody that you know, made, took a short cut to doing the hardest thing in pro sports. Would you have an issue with that? Yes, I would. And I still do today. Steroids were a thing of the past. I know that, but there are guys that extended their career, they added. Eight numbers like Clemens. A career that In Boston. He was almost out of baseball. And then he goes to Toronto and went to Cy Youngs. I do have a problem with that. But It's my problem. You know, it's up to the writers again that to do that, I think when if they don't make it in next year slave Clemens and Bonds and maybe shilling the last year I'm not sure how where they rank but in that, but I believe that when they get to the Veterans Committee, they won't get it either. Wow, I'm not. I'm not talking about. I'm not talking about Schilling. I'm talking about All right. Had destroyed like guys. Wow, that's interesting. Not even the Veterans Committee. Do you think that that's a Do you think that there will ever be a change in the how the voting works, you know, given the It feels very subjective like that. There are facts and then their opinions, and I think a lot of this because of the morality clause. We talked about a lot earlier in the show, it puts it. It puts it into the subjective Rangers opposed the objective rain. Do you think there will be or should be a change of how the voting is? No, because it's always been this way. But it's still but that doesn't make it right, Burt. No, it doesn't make a right, but your writers do have a right if they have 10 years of service, I believe of a sportswriter covering the game. They've agreed reduced the amount of sportswriters now that boat I know during my era when I was going through the ballot, there were some 600 plus. Writers that had an opportunity to vote. They were sending ballots, which I had found out to people that sad to say there is no longer with us, but they still sent it to their office and some interns filling out the ballot, so I think they're doing a better job of controlling it. There was 14, I guess writers that Did not turn. You know that didn't vote for anybody. I again? That's the right. But Do they do their homework, Or is it I'm going to call someone so who also has about what's he people know? Or do you give a winner as an individual and say This is the way I feel? I want to do she? I believe he does a great job of them. I'll be going over his balance. And it was his thought process. Not somebody else's. Yeah, I saw that piece with her duty ever. It's worth wild. I don't know if everybody will agree with this elections, but it's on Twitter. And I know the network ran it last night. I'm a big Verducci fan. I think he's really smart. I know he loves the game, so I'm with you on Tom. Bird help us a little bit here with David Ortiz, because, as I said, before, you know, will take. He came up with Minnesota and he was a part time player played against righties had 57 or 58 home runs with the Twins in in six years. Um, didn't flash any sort of, you know, greatness. I mean, he was it was when he caught wanted mash it, but he wasn't anything that transcended the game. Then he goes to Boston. And for whatever reasons, you know, maybe it's the dimensions. Maybe it's Manny behind the Maybe It's a little ped. Maybe it's everything he becomes big poppy, big poppies revered Alex Rodriguez. Is this spiced? Why the difference? Bird? I don't know. You know, Big poppy when he was with the twins. I know I broadcast the games and the guy could hit. You just didn't get an opportunity to play a lot. I think Justin Morneau was there at the time playing first base and I'm not sure exactly. I think you got some opportunities to be the D h. But you could see his power was the left center means a big man on you Got the Fenway Park and you turned his whole career around. How and why he did it. I don't know if he did. I don't know. All I can say is that you know Boston fans love him because what he did or that organization bringing the world serious helping bringing the world Syriza. You know the Boston so Again. That's up to the writers determined whether big poppy deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. But that's that's but their birth. That's what I mean. And I hear you ever thought of Bert Blyleven. But that's exactly what I mean How it's not equitable enough for my for my satisfaction so 400 writers because big Poppy was approachable and affable. And put up these great numbers. He gets a pass for being connected to P E. DS, which he was That's part of his past and Alex Rodriguez because he was vain. Phony. Whatever, however you whatever he was, then or even now, whatever he's really treated differently, so voters will because of the relationship with David Ortiz. They will eventually get him in. I strongly believe they will not vote for Alex Rodriguez. And there's nobody on this planet. Even you who played the game that could tell me That Alex Rodriguez wasn't twice as good a player as David Ortiz was all around, catching, throwing, running and hitting all the five tools and I just think it's so unfair. So I keep going back to this 400 people, Bert, They've got too much power. I hate the system and I love the sport. You know what I know when Alex Rodriguez came up with the chef Seattle Mariners seeing Ken Griffey Jr There are 12 combination and you're going to say, Oh, my goodness, these two guys, and I think maybe one of them went the other way. We find that big contract with Texas or a lot of guys in that Texas organization you can look at When he was there that were accused of Taking P d d So uh, you know, Don't know. It's hard for me to judge somebody's decision at a time that maybe they felt they needed to get to the next level. And what would it take to get there? That was available at that time to a lot of players. You know, Burt before we let you go. This is this is there is no vote. No one is going in this year. There was no Um, Veterans Committee because they meet December so there's no veterans put in there is not a vote elected, and obviously it's going to be the left over from last year's ceremony. But I mean, is it good for baseball not to have Hall of Famers go in each and every year? Well, there's gonna be guys going in. You know, dear Chief 10 cents? Yeah. Uh, you know, Larry Walker. Okay, so voted so voted in then. I mean, because it almost it almost like stag. You know what I mean? It stagnates. Um, the celebration of the game. No ticking and the NFL. They'll put 567 guys in the year. NBA does the same thing. Baseball's the only sport that sometimes nobody goes in, you know, hockey. I'm sure I don't follow hockey that much, but I'm sure there's three or four guys ago in year after year..
