"You could see not I missed. You walked right past him. Yes. Yesterday. Hey, J. Ro, How you doing? So we have different regions that we're setting up right? Nasty. And this is how we're gonna do it. You're gonna like we're gonna decide Now you're gonna first decide who with the seating in each of these regions, right? And then we go from there. Asleep East the least votes is the four seed. So when I think that certainly makes sense, all right now you have the first region we put together is the The era goats, all right, so goats of their era of what they do We have that region and in that region, of course, LeBron James Larry Fitzgerald. That's right. The wide receivers love Fitzy, Coach K. My guy, All right, and then Alex Ovechkin. Vets. Vets skin Yeah, ov ov they considered in his era one of the great players in the NHL. So that's what you do. So basically you now start voting at TJ and Z. You Go on Twitter. You'll see the pole. You start voting and you see who gets number one and I'll tell you right now, if LeBron James Does not have the number one seed in that bracket. I'll be shocked. Shocked. All right, so you got. I think LeBron should be number one. I would say, the greatest baseball player to ever live or if you want to compete that against MJ. Fine. If MJ's yours he's right there. Right. All right. LeBron Coach K has to be number two. Because it has to be number two, is you not number two. Well, the voting has started right now. And he's LeBron by a landslide so far, number 1 58.3% Okay, Coach. K is number 2 18.3 with Larry Fitzgerald right behind with 13.2 and over a 10.2 hockey fans. Where are you? That's what I want to know Seriously, when do you showing up hockey fans, most complaining done by hockey fans. And yet when something like this happens, you get hit on the pole and vote. Yeah. Get on the poll of all y'all say what did they say? They need more hockey on our show. We're giving it to him. It's hard to go. How would you compare your skill set to Larry Fitzgerald? Mm. How would our way were very Simpson? How so? And how are you different? Uh, I would say. Probably a little more twitchy. I had a little more twitch to me. Um, short burst like the pop up Now. He got a lot of that, too, though he had a lot of that early on in his career high ball. Go get the high point ball. Um Both physical. Very just very similar. How are you different? Different Attitude. Why I had to was he did it differently. He just come. I mean, you know You know every use Mr likable to a better everybody who had been a quarterback's throwing to him. Neither one of us. I mean, he had Kurt Warner. But other than that, I don't think he had anybody in his whole career. Her wonders. You have one of those and say occurred right one is the only one Larry poor Larry like about eight years ago. Prior to him getting dizzy, the proud I'm getting Kurt Warner or right after Kurt Warner left, I was praying that he went to New England. Because, but Larry is not going to go. He's just like he goes. Sit there. Just, you know, Cool, calm and collected Larry No. I need to get a Super Bowl man. Yeah, it's like Cp three. Neat. See, there's a handful of guys in professional sports. Let's see that you root for to win a championship. But see Larry Fitzgerald deserves You win a Super Bowl when you buried in Arizona. You're not getting one. You're just not and he deserves. I don't give a damn If he 70 years old, he wants to hold on in sit on the end of a bitch. "C. Where tonight in overtime, The Washington Capitals defeat the Boston Bruins by a final score. Of breeding, too. They take a one game to none Lead in this best of seven East Division First round Stanley Cup playoffs, Erie's Brian Hayward simply put a whale of a hockey game. A terrific hockey game tonight. You know, it is interesting because Alex Ovechkin at times looked Maura interested in being the physical Alex Ovechkin than the goal, scoring Alex Ovechkin. And if I'm the Boston Bruins right now, the thing that stands out for me on the bad side of things Would be the play of the creaky line because we heard so much about Taylor Hall and David Krejci and the chemistry they had and how dangerous they had been down the stretch for the Bruins. They were all minus two on that line tonight, and they did not generate very many good scoring chances, and I go back to the very first shift of the game where Alex Ovechkin completely runs rate over top. Of David Krejci. Did that send a message. I think it did. And David Krejci was quiet in this game. They need him to be more impactful moving forward in this serious they need Taylor Hall to be more impactful. On the defensive side of things. I thought both both teams got terrific performances by virtually every single member of their Defense Corps. Both goaltenders were solid. That's the one thing that stands out for me. Austin needs more from the creature line. CREDIT Washington This is a team that's best known for their offensive capabilities and their explosiveness, but they really shut down the perfection. Lina's well tonight. Not many great scoring chances in general for the Boston Bruins in this hockey game, All told, And it was the perfection line that had dominated the season Syriza between these two teams, so the game plan Peter Laviolette. Tighten the gaps on them. Be physical with them early really worked in this game. Brad Marchand did not get a lot of clean opportunities, and those long stretch passes that the Bruins air known for when the perfection line is on the ice. They didn't materialize in this game. Part of that was because there was so much pressure on the Bruins defenseman. They couldn't get the puck in their hands when they were skating a top speed so they were neutralized somewhat. You know that line's coming back in this series? I mean, what a game. This was. We expect that this is gonna be along Syria's this game number one I thought played out perfectly because it really could have gone either way. Yeah, as advertised for sure, And it'll be interesting to see a to least for now, here in Washington for Game one. That crazy line was a match up against the Ovechkin line. We'll see if that continues where Bruce Cassidy is concerned, Brian, this is Game one of our Stanley Cup coverage and what a great start if this is any indication. Looking forward, T doing it again here, and we will do it again. Real soon. Great job tonight. Great working with you, as always. Thanks that they say it's a different season. It felt like a much different season tonight. Let me tell you that that intensity was just ramped up sky high. A lot of fun nicked out is the hero tonight in Washington, he tips in a T. J Oshie offering at 4 41 of overtime and the Caps win Game one of the series. By a final score.

"And it's kind of fitting that we we talk about it in this week with the whole spectacle of Ovechkin situation, Washington Carolina. What did you? Think watching that what I think watching it. It's uncomfortable to watch someone get hurt. Like that in the fight. I'm I've never been one. That's clutch the pearls about a hockey fight as unless someone's getting jumped or unless I mean, we've all seen hockey fights. And you know, one of the the big ones for historians are is the Dave Schultz del Ralph which should've been called off. Well, before it went on, you know, past the point where it's an entertaining hockey fight. I looked at it as a young hockey player who made a mistake and got big dog by Alex Ovechkin I'd uncomfortable as it was the outcome. I'm not upset that that was a fight in the NHL where you know. I mean, if you challenge somebody anywhere in that happens. That's what happens you, you have to know what you're doing. When you do it. The one thing I don't get about. All this is that Ovechkin has said that he was challenged and vast. And Rodber numerous answer the day after was well, let's just say there's two different stories going on out there. So I don't know what the truth is. I'm assuming it's somewhere in the middle. Someone will ask fetched cough about the number one thing is I'm glad to hear. He sounds like he's okay. That's number one. But again, the, oh, I mean, I always remember I grew up with, you know, there are consequences for your actions. That's what my parents always told me. And you know, like if you bait someone and you lose out because of it. It's your fault. To some of questions on Twitter, hashtag ask thirty one from Kyle Frizzell. Hey, guys, we hear the term of players coach. But would you say there's a players GM in the league currently players GM. I've seen GM's get burned by being quote unquote to loyalty players bardy Lombardia. Mike Richards is the one most recently comes to mind right away. Lombardi. Sure did. And Marion Gabric was he signed after they won the Cup. And you know that that contract didn't work out for them as a general manager. I think you almost have to have be detached Burkey when he was GM really tried to be a player's GM in some some guys and other guys know, he has certain codes the trade. Griffis freeze before the actual there were there were things that he did that drove other players, absolutely bananas and agents bananas. I think when you're in charge of their futures. It is very very difficult to always be player friendly. I think what happens the most is that some guys look at players who've done something for them in terms of the way they played and they try to do favors for that player. We've all heard the stories you have I have about general managers that do a player a favor by getting him out of that market. Or if you have to make a trade send them to somewhere where it's good for them. We've all seen humanitarian trades. Oh, this isn't a hockey trade. This is a humanitarian whose a big one in baseball last year. Stephen Scotty, Saint Louis to Oakland when his mother was ill. Okay. From JJ. Hank are the pens doomed to the same fate as Chicago in L A after Cup wins. It's possible. I mean, we talked about this a lot earlier in the podcast. They're going to have to make some moves to replenish, I hesitate to bed on Sydney Crosby missing the playoffs because I don't like to bet against Sidney Crosby. But you can see there is a retool coming here. And there might be a little bit of pain from OG come on man with the success of that say that oh, gee, come on, man. All right with the success of Columbus. Will we see more GM's become more bold and aggressive at future trade deadline's men? I hope so Elliott, well, I really hope so too. And the other thing too is they beat the team Tampa Julian breeze made the decision not to add the deadline. "That's fairly obvious for the second year in a row Washington Capitals star Alex veg Ken was named a captain in the NHL all star game. And for the second time in his career. He skipping it. Good decision. You know, I really love the way. Alex Ovechkin plays hockey more than anybody since Bobby ORR. I enjoy watching him play but show up. Well, Ovechkin will likely be suspended for one game for his decision. He's so he gets a longer vacation. Right. He says he needs to rest in he'll get to rest even longer the same thing happened when he was sat out in. Two thousand sixteen. What does it say to fans when a league has to suspend players for not playing in an all star game, and they sit out anyway, it means maybe you're leak should have and all star game. I mean, the NHL all star game is a strange event. Nobody plays real hockey. I mean, even if even less of the actual sport than the Pro Bowl is I mean, I remember one year Boston Bruins flora -tario Riley played in a game. And he body check and everybody in hockey world was horrified because you don't throw body checks in the game. Charlie Austin, Mason and Bryson Luna are identical triplets who play basketball for Dora high school in Missouri. Austin is apparently not so good at those free throws. But it's recently come to the attention of his opponents that when he's fouled one of his brothers. Sometimes steps up to the wine, isn't this? The kind of thing those numbers on the backs of jerseys are supposed to prevent I think that the referees have to be instructed us to lie. Those numbers there. I have to admit, I know I'm supposed to Tut this. I give the coach door high school. Enormous critic. Well, he's there. He's. Two guys presented with a unique advantage. And he uses it. And finally, Charlie I'd like to return us to the story of Riley Morrison the nine year old who wrote a letter to Steph curry complaining that his sneakers were only available in the boys section. So what did Santa Steph leave for young Riley under the Christmas tree? She got two pairs of the curry six shoes. Steph curry went out of his way to continue to you know, answer Riley's quite logical question. Yeah. Well, the curry six is didn't even come out till this week. So she got them ahead of everyone else, which I'm hoping inspires a whole lot of kids out there to work on their letter writing skills absolutely of Dan writing too because I became hopeless in handwriting years ago. But there's no reason why youngsters shouldn't be able to you can find the sports writing of Charlie peers from time.

"Get rid of them. Go back to would. But when we see someone fire in a laser like last week on Wednesday. We had Alex Ovechkin one time a fifty mile an hour pass from John Carl's. Yes. In point and in using his compasses, how come we never say? While those are amazing are you employed by the stick manufacturing. I looking for free GAC, I'm not Martha's point down. We're Jeff's looking for free swag just break, and you knew one no actually my ears. Stick approach to weeks ago. Oh, there you go. There was a manufacturer's though. But no, the the point is every bit of technology gets respect from fans except for the sticks. No one ever complements the sticks on how much they assist the players. No one ever says. Wow. Look at how he wired that shot in that rich man did even role his wrists. That is flu. You write off terrorists. Go kucherov whomever's blade. Never hear that. All hear is all these junkie sticks. Well, we've sticks enough of this. Silly Greg Millen. Let's go back to those all red and white titans. The garbage the Canadian tire when you filled up you wrote about the Edmonton Oilers. I don't know if you consider this eight desperation move or just as smart load them up move. Putting Leon Seidel and kinda mcdavid back together worked very well. Thank you very much against Montreal Tuesday night villa dominant. People think six two on the must be terrible. I don't he was actually good same. I'm not a fan of playing them together. I don't think you can win doing that term. But somebody made a good point. Boston has won loaded up line. Really good Colorado has another loaded up line. Really good. Those teams are doing. Okay, Edmondson's issues such as they are not all those guys playing the other. We talked at the beginning of the year Jeff about how tense it was there. I still think it's really. Pants. You know, guys, they're telling me they're waiting for something to happen. They don't know what that thing is the I saw putting ninety seven inland dry settled together as that things are really tencent. So I'm making this move. Yes. I think that's a very fair way to look at it. And I just think everybody I've been waiting for something to happen. There teams where you sit there and say what's going to happen here? And there there and Edmonton, and I have no proof or no way of knowing if they would have any interest in Joel Quenneville, but there's zero doubt the teams are reaching out to Joel Quenneville and saying what are you thinking? Here. You have a sense of what Joe Quinn villas thinking, you know, Nick on the show last Saturday night said he wants to coach this year. I think Nick would be right. But I do believe it comes down to the situation that he wants to be a situation where team has a chance to win. Or something. That's good for family. Chris is beyond headlines article on Sunday brought up Detroit because his mother lives in the Windsor area. You know, I think that would depend probably on the direction that Detroit chooses to go. And where it goes. But if you can convince Joel Quenneville that he's going to a situation where he's a chance to win. I believe Knicks right that he'll consider coaching this year before we get to our special guests, Mike Lee of octagon former NHL goaltender clocks boards caught me this week..

"The ice. Alex ovechkin. The reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals picked up right where they left off beginning. Their title defence with a seven nothing thrashing of the Boston Bruins in their season opener. After watching the franchise's first Stanley Cup banners to the rafters TJ. Oh, she opened the scoring just twenty four seconds in. And if Guinea Kuznetsov scored the first of his two goals a minute and a half later to get the route

"alex ovechkin" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why

"Now, while this was a great story and for the it was great for the NHL as a whole. I don't really know that anyone thought the Golden Knights where a team that was going to be reckoned with just yet. I see a lot of people saying they're still Stanley Cup contenders frankly, I don't see it. They were a story, the Washington Capitals. On the other hand, that's a hockey team and a darn good one. So Greg, he makes a bold claim here by saying the Stanley Cups going to see a pair of new teams, essentially giving me to teams and Tim taking the field. That's fine, whatever. I don't even need to teams. I'm gonna. Make my argument using just the capitals team. You can take the other twenty nine, Greg, I just knew the capitals. You just give me all. I need to win this round with that team. You've given me the ammunition to take you down and I'm going to do so. See you're acting like I stack the deck against you, and that's fine. I mean. Hockey is obviously much more of an interest of mine than it is yours. So it is. It is a little bit stack that way. But when you talk about the teams that you are defending, you're talking about the Stanley Cup champions in a team that revamped even though they're an expansion team, they added veterans, pulse, Tasmania, max patch, ready, but here's the problem. They're not catching anybody by surprise anymore. A guy like William Carlson who before last year, his most goals in his career was nine in eighty one games, two years ago scored forty three goals last year. It's just not going to happen. I'm not saying that he's gonna fall off and go back to that eight or nine goal tally before three is a ton, a ton of goals. It seems like almost impossible that he's going to get back to that number and for the capitals for all the partying that they did. Once they won the Stanley Cup, you just get that inkling that this year might be that letdown year. Will this be the first year that Alex Ovechkin starts to just fade a little bit. It's tough. It's tough to tough to say, but father. I'm always wins. It's not forget that Brayden Hopi was excellent in the Stanley Cup final, but he was shaky towards the end of the season. There was a lot of calls for Philip group. Our to become the starter for the capitals based off his performance. Listen. There's plenty of of argument to say that, hey, of course, that those two teams aren't gonna make it, but it's more about the specifics of those two teams and their reason why? Oh, Gregory Gregory Gregory. I see the points you're making. I just, I just don't agree. So 2017 saw the penguins become the first team in almost twenty years to win back to back Stanley Cup championships, and I think that's well within reach of this Washington Capitals team. Let's start with the obvious they won in dominant fashion last season and managed to keep their team together. I think that's the most important thing that includes resigning Norris trophy finalist. John Carlson for eight million a year. It was a smart all season for the defending champs. Starting with the deal that sent a fleet, grew our to, and we'll end Brooks over to the Colorado Avalanche. The caps knew that Colorado is going to buy out opera and they managed to bring them back afterwards. They did lose Jay beagle to Washington that hurts, but they have the talent in place to replace him without missing a beat strangers. It sounds their biggest quote, unquote. Loss of the off season may end up being a blessing in disguise that was former coach, Barry trots leaving for the islanders. This was a guy who was losing that locker room anyway, in may have been fired. If not, for the teams, improbable run this season Todd Riordan's going to be a fine replacement for him. Cohesiveness in sports is the most underrated element that people miss when evaluating teams in the capital's bring back championship club with all of its important elements intact. That, sir, is the recipe for another Stanley Cup championship. Listen, that's fine cohesiveness and all that. I've seen tons of title teams bring back guys who were superstars or contributors and spend tons and tons of money maxing out their cap space and stretching those wallets very thin only to fail in future attempts. But here's the point. There's so many other teams, and that's the fun thing about the NHL..

"But i want to condense it because of time constraints here i made a big deal on the michael kay show i would not have taken running back number two overall the way the giants did i just don't philosophically i don't believe that you take a running back that high he wanted to know is there anything philosophically we believe are were against position wise in the nhl like is there a position you would just never take with a with a really high pick well i would try to take the center defense and i i don't think i would you know wears interesting i mean you have unique situations like pow patrick line a or or alex ovechkin going back several years that's you know patrick kane i would try to take center defenseman morris that's senators out there it's hard to pass on them and they're so important this year defenseman with rasmi darlene so that's i think in buffalo sabres would be very wise and i believe they will take him with the first overall pick i'm not big on drafting goalies early no i'm not even know carey carey price was a fifth over hall he's turned out okay bark andre floor was the first overall he's turned out pretty good but for all those you know you could point to others than haven't gone as well and and the reason i'm not big on flood the goalie high in the draft is that if the goalie doesn't play for your team and and goalies weird i mean henrik lundquist was a seventh round pick because the new york rangers and i believe they use they six overall pick to maybe take almonte of three or four years later and once one quiz emerged as the goalie mon toy never had the opportunity to play at the national hockey league level and when you don't have that opportunity the team then looks to move you they can never get equal value for that right but that draft spot you can't you couldn't have traded almonte toyah to another team for six or fifth overall pick because he never really played the national hockey league and establish themselves so that's the bigger problem for me.
