"Kind of have a, seriously? I have almost this little, I don't know what it is. Like the desire. This is small desire. You just sneak off for two hours and go watch go game bear. I know my wife has no. No, I do, too. I do too. Why can't Raj get us to that premiere? Oh, I know. You wouldn't fall asleep in that. You know, that bears ripping stuff up in the daytime rush. They should introduce on a screen that you can actually see. That's not just raining. Doused in gloom and doom and rain. This beer is cheery 'cause he's all coked up. By the way, did you imagine if you introduced cocaine bear to Batman? That and he's just cocaine bears just pissed because it's always raining, and it's so dark. Oh, that just tear and crap up. I'd love to see bad man just get mulled by. I am the guy. I knew you. I've got nothing in my utility belt for this. Where's my pepper spray? That's right. Batman pepper spray. Next on the morning boo boo. I was thinking about bears. Oh boy. He's right. I still got three more stayed up late last night watching will Trent. I can't stay up late watch an abs or basketball I fall right to sleep. You love that will train. I really like it. I know you've been telling me to get under that one. I'll get into that when you get into Yellowstone. How about that? All right. So scratch another name off the abs trade wish list. I had to go slow through that one. Patrick Kane dealt to the rangers. Yeah. I already saw people with Patrick Kane rage. That one's been. One has been trending for a while. New York people, bother me. Hey, another player going west to east and let the east caught up in their arms war. We're just sitting back and say see ya. Makes it easier for us here. But as we get closer to the trade deadline coming up on Friday, he's starting to get a gut feel about what the abs are going or not going to do. I just don't think there's, I mean, will they make a move? Possibly? I mean, they made a move for Jack Johnson. It was a great, it was a great movie. He escaped for 19 minutes. He had 19 minutes of ice time smooth transition, I don't think they're at this point and I don't know the names behind it, Mike. You would know better than I do in the hockey pie award winning hockey podcast I might ask. It's acceptable. Another one dropping tomorrow. Just like Queen, just another one bites the dust. I don't know the name. And are there any, I don't feel like there's a lot of big names, big centers out there that are that are desirable. No, at this point, I'm expecting a move that gets made, which may not blow anybody's doors off, but did we think we're getting our doors blown off when they acquired valerian nachos? Did we think last year when they acquired arturi lacking in that they were getting somebody that was going to blow our doors off and yet we're talking about key guys in winning a Stanley Cup. So look, I've got nothing but faith in this front office. This is a case where I can trust the organization. And so I expect them to do something to add to the top two lines, probably a Ford, but yeah, I would not expect any of the big, big deals. They're not going to go out and get another center. I think they are quite content to roll with JT conference, their second line center. Maybe Alex newhook, Evan Rodriguez can play some center. Heck, if you had to, you could put mikko ranton in in there. So I don't think you're going to see anything big Patrick Kane on his way to Manhattan, Gotham. Next on the morning brew, Sean Payton, admitting, yeah. Vic Fangio was the plan. Do I think he would have been a great asset for us? Yes. And so we were planning this year if the rights scenario came up that we'd worked together. And I think this one was just a little unique because it wasn't too long ago. He was here, but certainly I tried talk to him, tried to twist his arm and I'm excited for his opportunity in Miami. I think he's a talented coach. We went against each other for years, like our teams and he was always a challenge. He did say, I've never worked with Nick before. This would have been the first time. Right. So that's something to keep in mind just because they're Friends. And because they may have similar outlooks on things, they've never worked together. So until you've really worked together, you don't know exactly how it's going to work out. No, but you've gone against him enough to know how difficult he is to plan for. And I think that's where the coaches get so much respect for certain guys. I mean, you walk through the halls of NFL facilities like I do every week, and Vic Fangio's name. It's not, it's not like a name taken in vain like it is here. There is, you put some respect on that name when it comes to his knowledge of defense and how hard he is. You know, to score against and to prepare for. Sean also said yesterday, he looked out at the media and said, you scared Vic away. And there's truth to that. Sure. Because Vic would have come here had he not just been the coach here, but it was. And Peyton referenced it a couple times. It was too close. It was too close to the time he was here. It was still too raw. And plus he was in high demand elsewhere. Miami wanted him badly. So he said, yeah, that was plan a, but thanks to D Mac, who left a bad taste in Vic Fangio's model. He's like, I don't want to come back here. So I blame D Mac, all right? So D Mac, you wanted big thank you. I blame you. You drove away. I think it's fair. I think D Mac. Yeah. Merrill Ernie, all these guys, D Mac is the real reason for fanjoy. He could not. He could not bear thinking about standing in front of that podium once a week and D Mac peppering him with the hard hitting question. Right? D max is all about the plan. You got it for you. Hey, you wanted plan a, right? You gotta have a plan. He had a plan. A plan that was ruined by you. That'll do it for the morning brew. Bring that to you each and every morning. At 6 30. Want to react to anything we just covered his up on the ramen slot dot com text line 303-713-1043. As fans, how are we feeling about the trade deadline? Nuggets, fans, what do you think about the Kendrick Perkins accusing jokic of stat padding? And Pete Carroll weighing in on the speculation that Russ wanted him gone. That's coming up next. On Denver's sports station, one O four three, the fan. Someone said it last night, I forget what I was watching. You know, they have success last night. I don't think the upstairs meeting room matters to anybody. I don't think it matters because I didn't see any articles from any of you prior to week one or week two, and that was happening, but that's what happens when you lose. Everything gets looked at closely, including the coaching. So when we'll have a way of doing business and I think it'll be what I'm familiar with and best for the players. A little bit of clacker dropping right there. From Sean Payton, hey, I read the article. I saw the piece in the athletic. I've heard the stories about what went on here last year. Yeah, okay. I've got my way of doing things and they won't happen here. Under my watch. And it's we've talked about this. It's not a problem if you're things aren't ever an issue when you're winning. It's when you're losing that

"Our annual trades we'd like to see podcast are my pals, Thomas drance, and Jack Fraser, Jack, we cut you off at the end of part one when you're about to jump in with a big apps trade for their second line center need so without further ado, we waited long enough, but the listeners know what that trade is. Yeah, it was a long 24 hours that we all sat here waiting for me to tell you who the player was, but we're here now. Can you radio? Yeah, so like you alluded to, there really are not a lot of options available on the market. If you look at the trade bait boards or whatever, on the two want to bring in max, so maybe there really are not very many interesting options, which is why you have to go a little bit off the board and maybe more into the rumors section of things. So in this trade, Colorado gets as their second live center for the next several years, Nick schmaltz from the Arizona coyotes. Oh, you son of a gay, nice finisher, strong playmaker someone who's really come along and in the past couple of years, I think reached the upside that John shake a thought that he was going to reach and then unfortunately he didn't do it in a timely enough fashion, I guess. But he's here now. He scored at around a 72 or three point pace in the past two seasons combined on a obviously struggling errors on a coyote's team. I don't want to have the most detailed cat math going on, but it involves the combination of a 2023 first round pick. Alex newhook and JT confer heading the other way in exchange for Nick schmaltz from the Arizona coyotes. Maybe the classic HF boards draft capital added to one of Andrea or another to make it work, but that's my big idea. So the abs get their second wide center for now and for the future from the Arizona coyotes. Yeah, here's my only pushback to that.

"Okay, let's start with the top stories and D Mac just dropped a column. He's a columnist too. Yeah. We're not bloggers. He writes that last night's shootout loss to Tampa. Shows what the avalanche are missing. Before I tell you what he thinks it is, do you have a theory? What they are missing. Depth. Okay. But even with the lack of depth, they were right there last week, midway through the hockey game. Sure. Against Tampa. There's a one nothing game, but they were out chanting Tampa to that point. They couldn't keep stay in the game. The rest of the way couldn't capitalize on their chances. Yesterday they had a two zero lead midway through the hockey game. D max says they just lack the killer instinct. They've lost the killer instinct. They're losing games that they would have won a year ago. So we're in the killer instinct just left like they just all of a sudden. Like you've lost that love and feelings like hall and Oates. Well, you've lost that killer instinct. He makes you make the point that he makes is that it's not like they're not trying, of course they're trying, but you would acknowledge as somebody that all you did was win super bowls. That, of course, everybody was always trying, but the special teams have that knack for once they get a team down. To put them away. That there's a certain that they have to put a team away. And the avalanche, how did that how many times this year have we said that's a game they would have won last year? Okay, let me ask you this. And they have it this year. So what is it? Is it all injuries? You'd like mentally, you've gotten weak and you've lost your killer instinct or you lost players. That incredible moments could put the puck in the net, like cadre, like Lana Scott. Like some of your injured players. Okay, but you are good enough to get to the point where you let up or let the other team back in, you've been good enough to get to that point, so why aren't you good enough to finish? And there isn't, isn't there something about playing in critical moments, the Patrick Mahomes of the world they play their best, hey, fourth quarter. Let's hang 17 on their butts should have been 21. You know what? Same thing happened in the Super Bowl they played and they won against San Francisco. They were down 2010. All of a sudden it's a 31 ten blowout with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. There are some guys that just have the ability to shine in the most critical moments. Well, that's how a killer is. Okay, then tell me what these people have in common parties. Got it. Tell me what Nathan McKinnon, mikko rantanen, valerian to choose skin, arturi lichenin, JT conver, Andrew cogliano, Alex newhook, Logan O'Connor, Bo byrum. Sammy Gerard, devonte. What do they all have in common? Molly want a Stanley Cup one. They were on last year's team and they all played last night. They were all out there on the ice last night. So I get what you're saying. The injuries, but I just gave you a rod and not play in the plug. Okay, fine, but you get what I'm saying. I gave you a long list of players that were showing that killer instinct a year ago. It's not like the coverage bear, it's not as full as it was, but it's not like it's fair. May I ask you this? How many of those guys scored critical goals in critical moments? Last year?

"So in 26 games so far, they've already used 33 different skaters, only 7 skaters, mikko ranton and kail makar, Logan O'Connor, Alex newhook, JT comper, Andrew cogliano and Eric Johnson, those 7 have played all their games. Everyone else is missed at least multiple games on their team. So I think any analysis of what they're doing this season needs to be centered around that, right? I think we'd all still agree that there's some concerns, especially on the second line center position. Alex newhook hasn't really stepped up and filled the void the nazim kadri left and I still think they're probably need to address that in the trade market. They have time to do so. So I'm not that worried about it and ultimately it's kind of nitpicking because if healthy when it matters, this is still the deepest and most skilled group in the NHL, that all being said, there are 30th and 5 on 5 scoring this year as a team, only the ducks and Blackhawks two teams we've mentioned so far are scoring less frequently than them. They've dipped under 50% in Shaw chair, high danger chance share, expected gold shirt and goal share. It's pretty startling to see even acknowledging all of the players that have been out of action to see them in that type of ranking. So their power play is saved in their third and power play scoring, their goaltending has been really good. Alexander George jib and Powell France, who's are I think have the fourth best team save percentage so far and they're making like 5.4 million combining against the cap. So that's been a silver lining and the power play and they are going to get healthy. They're already getting guys back, Valerie and Jews can just came back. I think Evan Rodriguez will be back shortly. So it's going to get better. We're going to have to reevaluate in a couple of weeks or a couple of months with this team clearly. But right now it's been pretty bad, especially if I went 5. Yeah, if any team, I'm not concerned about its Colorado because we know a lot of it's a product of their injuries.

"Could be in trouble. When a team is struggling when a team is not playing with energy, when a team is not playing with a lot of intensity and they just seem off as this nuggets team does, it would not be the first time that in NHL team or NBA team mid season fires a coach just to try to light a spark under the players. Yeah. I don't think the nuggets are gonna go in that direction with this organization. It's all in. We're all in and firing a coach during the middle of the season and all in season typically does not happen. It's consistency. You have to find a way to now, if you're Mike Malone, recognize the fact that Jamal Murray is struggling. We have to get him out of there. It does not matter at the end of the game, the fact that you can not rely on bones highland because of his defensive efforts. You got to have him in the game because he's on, and he's one of the better players that night. When you look at Aaron Gordon, 27 points in 31 minutes, well, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokić played a combined of 64 minutes last night and only had 30 points between both of them. Those are your two best players. Best player in the world in NBA MVP the last two years. Jamal Murray, he's supposed to be the blue arrow. He's supposed to be back, right? He had to over 550 days off. He has to find a way to be more consistent. Nikola Jokić has to do the exact same thing and take over in nights like this where your trail in and all you're doing is trailing the whole second half. Yeah, and I know I get it to guys like Michael Malone ultimately be the one that pays, but you're talking about guys were carrying around $200 million contracts. And there was a sequence late in the first half and Reggie Miller was on the broadcast on TNT and there was a lazy close up by Jamal Murray on Luka Dončić. And Miller called him out a good for him. He said, hey, the other night, bones highland. Got benched for a lack of defensive intensity. This is a team with championship aspirations. You can't be putting that kind of effort or lack of effort out there defensively and he's calling out Murray at that point. If you're a team with championship aspirations and I get it, we like to blame the coaching for everything, but come on, you're a you know what it means to be a pro athlete and you're making millions, hundreds of millions of dollars. Come on, man. You gotta bring it yourself. And to be honest, how much can we honestly ask Michael Malone to do it? We know that he's a defensive minded head coach. We know that that's very important. We've seen him have guys ride that pine and not play a ton of minutes because of their defensive efforts. So do you know it's being preached? Do you know he wants to Jamal Murray to close out and do a better job on Luka Dončić, Jamal knows that, hey, that's one of the best players in the world that could just knock it down and just spot up and hit any jump shot or any three pointer from anywhere on the court. But yet it's laziness. You're not giving full effort. Championship teams, it's every night thing. It's not a sometimes thing. It's like every night thing. And Jamal Murray being one of the two best players on this basketball team. Everybody else looks to you. The expect everybody watches you under that microscope and how are you doing? And when you're doing things, are you getting yelled at and are people getting mad at you and they're not? So if you did it, that means I could have a my bad moment, and there's no room for that at any type of professional sports because that's how you lose. Next on the morning, brew, we got the updates on Nathan McKinnon and it's not great. With some sort of upper body injury look like a rib or an oblique injury out for weeks so the hits just keep on coming for this avalanche team that right now is just clinging to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Now reinforcements are on the way Gabe land is skating again. Valerian chuk is skating again, but in the meantime, what do you do? Do you change the style of play? Do you become more defensive oriented? Do you rely more on goaltending, certainly you need to ask more of your younger players. JT coffer, Alex newhook, Logan O'Connor. Guys like that. Hey man, great opportunity. More ice time. Time to step up. All of the above. Right? Every single thing that you did that you just said, you're not going to be able to play how you normally play. All gas no brakes. Use a beating people with your athleticism. Right now we have already taken a big drop off in our ability to win face offs from last year to this year. So we're not getting those opportunities quick scorn opportunities as well. We were able to put the puck on that. So you do have to change your defense. How you approach it. You do have to change how you approach the offense in the shots on net and now it's got to be more about the quality shots. It's got to be maybe that extra pass that last extra pass to get the goaltender. Off balance a little bit where you can squeak one end behind him, get one of those greasy goals, but it's gonna be tough and fit the physical game as well, and it's good because a lot of these guys are younger guys or farm player guys where they could go out there and they could use their bodies that their bodies start breaking down. That's perfectly fine. It's not the long haul for these guys, it's just right now. How do we get a win right now? So you do all of that, Mike. Next on the morning, brew, Russell Wilson and the Broncos kicking off chiefs week. Definitely winning as it happened, losing can be won two if you let it. Well, I felt her the guys after it didn't lock her room. I was just telling him that at the end of the day, there's two things we can controls or attitude and our energy and we can control those two things in the midst of the storm. We're going to turn this thing around. Obviously got a lot of tough games, tough challenges coming up too. So we don't have time to sit and talk we have time to just get better. So as a player, you know your season's not going anywhere. You know your season is effectively over, is this one of those games, though, that collectively, you have no problem getting up for, is this, is this your Super Bowl? Is that the way the players approach a week like this one? So typically, yes, that's how you do it, and when you're on those football teams where, hey, it's one, two, three, cancun, guys are starting to pack up early in December. You start seeing that pickup truck and now all of a sudden it's all packed in and it's ready to go. And guys have kind of mentally checked out. But you do look for those silver linings. And hey, how do we ruin the person's season? And this is a perfect opportunity. You get to play the Kansas City Chiefs twice. You know that that team has punched their postseason, but also you know that Patrick Mahomes has never lost at a Denver Bronco. So there's these little silver linings that will allow you to get up, I know the defense is going to be ready to go. The defense could approach it like it's their Super Bowl, but now the offensive just continues to go get worse and worse and worse. Not being in the red zone all week last week, so I don't know how your mindset is if you're offensive player knowing that you didn't get to the renzo not once and your defense gave you two takeaways and you only scored 9 points last week. One other story in the morning brew to pass along a big, big signing today in Major League Baseball, not a surprise. There had been some possibilities of flirtation somewhere else, but never really thought that Aaron judge would end up anywhere else, but with the New York Yankees. How about this deal? 9 years, $360 million. In Orlando. Unlike those NFL deals that aren't even worth the paper, they're printed on. This is all 360 million guarantees. Yeah, you know, baseball unbelievable. Moments like this when you're jealous of baseball players and basketball players. Yes, yes, always have been. Goodness gracious. I wish somebody would have told me when I was younger when I was starting to play sports. I wish somebody would have said, hey, you don't want to do this. You kind of want to do the baseball thing. These guys get these fully guaranteed. I wanted to play brass while Mike. Capped out, maxed out in height. I was a power forward and said, hey, 6, 6 power forward and Charles Barkley, man.

"Got Orlando Franklin seen in for stink will be joining us for the second half of the show coming up at 7 30, so oh, thank you very much. You get the early, early shift. The beauty rest. He needs that beauty rest to maintain that China porcelain doll skin of his. The Broncos lose again and Russell Wilson and the offense stinks again. Yeah, I mean, I think that for all of us, we, you know, like, like you said, I've never really lost many games like this. So it's a new feeling. One, I don't like when I don't want to experience ever again. And one that we have to figure out how to do that and how to not experience this as a collective group, you know, like you said, I'm used to for us to find ways to win in all that stuff, but I think it's not about used to or anything else it's about tomorrow. And at this point, it's really, that's always the case, but really it's about tomorrow. How can I help these young guys, especially the younger Sears? Just keep rising up to the occasion. Uh oh, you get kind of a smile grimace on your face right there. No, it's always funny when I hear Russell Wilson because he tries to portray himself as this team guy in, you know, at the end, he kind of rains it in, right? It's about tomorrow. But for the first 28 seconds, he's talking about kind of what he used to do and not being used to this, and this is not what he's about. And this is not a great feeling. Football is the ultimate team sport. You're only as good as your weakest link. So it doesn't matter the success that Russell Wilson has had, you know, what's the success that Eric Thompson is at? Hasn't been a lot, and yesterday, Justin Houston was able to get in behind him and get a tackle for a loss, right? So that's why you have to rely on other people and make sure that whenever a play is called, that the person that is the worst, the weakest link that that's the best result that you're gonna get on that place. So can he execute this? I get what you're saying, but Eric Tomlinson's not making $250 million. So Wilson is, and where his head is at, what his mindset is, how he views all this. Is he gonna just throw well rehearse cliches at us? Or is he going to be real? That is what I want to hear though. That's why I need to know. Man, I got to know. And it's not about tomorrow. It's about next year. What are you going to do to be better and fix this for next year? I'm assuming you still hear next year. I think he's going to be here, Mike. That's a lot of money. There is a nuclear option that we can discuss here in just a bit. Next in four down. Second down. So Nathaniel Hackett, for those of you who wish otherwise is still employed as we speak. We got to finish. The guys know that. I mean, you can't play a great game. The whole game and not all the way down to the last second. So we just have to find a way to finish these games. I mean, they've been also close. I give so much credit to our football team for battling nonstop throughout the whole game. Everybody's trying to do everything they can to win, so I give them credit for that. Do you buy into the idea as a silver lining to all this? No. Well, let me finish. Is that save for one game? They have been in every game. And so that when you're talking about fixing this, that maybe you're not that far away from being able to fix it because you're in every game. Yeah, no, because whatever you, whatever you preach to the team, whatever you just say, whatever you do, that becomes your reality, right? So if you keep on talking about being so close, being so close, you're close football team, you want to play things close and how they call games and playing for the field goal in the first half instead of taking the shots. That's how they go about it. But if you come out and you say, no, we want to dominate. It's about getting to 35 points. It's all about seeing how fast we can rest our starters. The mindset changes of the football team, where how this football team has been constructed under Nathaniel Hackett. It's about just find a way, find a way to be there in the end and think about it. It's been with everything. Not just football. It's been with, okay, you know what? The team that's the most healthiest at the end. That's the team that goes on the run, so this is why I do this. It's all about the and and being close with Nathaniel Hackett, where the mindset needs to drastically change because when I was here with the Broncos, it was all about dominating and winning football games and making sure you impose your will each and every week and not playing this thing close. So you talk so much about being close being close and playing it close and it's so proud of the guys for keeping games close, where no matter what goes on in the course of a game, it's almost like you naturally let your foot off the gas pedal because you're not trying to blow teams out. You just want to have an opportunity to win it and that's been a message all year long and that's just wrong in any sport. Next in four down. Third down. Prime time. Prime time. Man, I've seen a lot of people nail the opening press conference and we got to be careful because plenty of people coaches, players have won the opening press conference and then has it worked out, but man, you gotta be pumped by what you heard from Deion Sanders yesterday. As you know, I have worked to finish in Jackson, Mississippi. They tell me we and oh, that means we had lost anybody. And we got to win this championship. But simultaneously, like I play baseball in football, I can multitask and I can focus. And this is my job and my occupation in my business. In my dream, to bring you back to where you know you should belong. I love it. He appeals to justice fanbase. Appeals to all the CU buffs. He appealed to me. I remember when I got this news, Mike on Thursday, like I was finding out that this thing was real. As I was flying down to Miami and I tweeted about it, putting it on social media and so much pushback, no way, there's no way he's coming here. Well, he's here. And I'm here for it. And one of the things that I sent out in that same exact tweet when I was finding out that not only is he coming, this is absolute done deal, he's getting ready to announce in the next couple of days. I was like, man, I got to figure out, see you. I got to learn my way around boulder. Yeah. Because I'm going to be up there. Who's not signing up for tickets to go watch this football team moving forward? You got the head coach. He's saying all the right things. You talk about him nailing it. He's talking about, you know, bringing in an elite coaching staff to elite scouting. He's letting these kids know, get ready. Take a look at that transfer portal because you're here to compete. And if you're not going to compete, there's the door. So it's the right attitude of mentality. And man, I just would kill for just some great college football right here in our backyard. Yeah, we're constantly when it comes to the national college football scene. For most of the 25 years that I've been here, I just feel like we've been just on the outside looking in. "I bet they'll trade that first. If I was a first round prospect, I would not be expecting Colorado to call my name this summer. I would think that first is gone. And then you sort of flush it out with lesser pieces. That Martin cowton on and on. How are you going to win in a world where you've got devonta is making 8 million and Bowen Byron making whatever he's going to make on his second contract if you don't have a guy like Alex newhook providing to you. When you said devonta and then 6 and a half, I was going to say Devon before you sign anything, please call me for a representation. Do not take that deal. All right, Tom. I mean, me and devonta share representation. So I think he'll be fine. Okay. Tom, we're going to take a quick break here, and then we come back we're going to keep tackling the listener questions. "As stinkin might take a look at the four biggest stories in Denver sports. Here's Lara then Evans kicking it off with first down. Breaking into chance the whole night, I thought he played on standing and we were opportunistic. You know, we scored on a couple chances. Didn't create a lot. That's for sure, but like we got a couple chances and we capitalized on them. We were able to grab the two points sometimes it goes that way or you'll play a team not often when it's that badly, but we'll take the two points and run. Yeah, Jared Ben are just. He was as light after a game as you'll typically hear. I mean, he was like, yeah, we stole one tonight. We stole one. Sorry. And they did. And there's nothing to apologize. That's one of the beauties of hockey, is that sometimes you get badly outplayed. The avalanche got out played, got out shot 48 to 15 on that. That's incredible. But hey, that's hockey. You got a hot goalie? He can make up for all of that. Pavel Francis was outstanding. Stole one for the ass. And another good thing that came out of it. Alex newhook scored. And Newark was benched at the end of the last game and bednar came out after the game and said, he's going to be better. And that's one of the really, there aren't very many keys to this season until we get to the playoffs but one of the things to watch this season is at least through the first 25 35 games, these bottom 6 forwards, some of these younger players like a new hook that are being given a chance to step up in a expanded role. How do they handle it if they don't are the avalanche out looking to make trades, new hook, the fact that he answered the bell after his coach called him out. That's a real positive. Here's a couple of things I look at. I always look at hits. We out hit him 28 18 and block shots, 15 to 8. That's grimy stuff. You know, sometimes shots are just shots. Sometimes shots are right. They're absolutely not every shot is equal or the same. So there's that aspect to it, but I will say this. I will say this. I love the benching of a young player or any player that's paramount

"I remember you and I right after game 7 against Tampa Bay last year had a conversation about this and it was kind of eye opening to see how Tampa Bay basically just put up a line at their own blue line and it was like you are not carrying this puck into the zone and force them to keep dumping it in and wasting time and they were never able to really cobble together anything of meaning and then in one of their most recent games against Pittsburgh. I saw a very similar phenomenon where in that third period, once Pittsburgh went up, it felt like they had no real kind of tangible way of creating offense against that. I'm kind of curious for your take on sort of finding ways to creatively problem solve for those neutral zone traps. But in those specific game states and kind of how you work around that because that's something that it's whatever in a regular season game, but in a playoff series will come back up again and if you don't have an answer for it, it's going to be tough to overcome. Well, you need you need legs. You need hands. You need skill. Anybody parts? And you need volume parts. And generally speaking, if you go back throughout hockey history and you want to look at teams that overachieve the playoffs or win cups, these are teams that are on the younger end of the spectrum because players come out of nowhere, right? And then they make a reputation for themselves, whereas players with established reputations may be they're not able to play at that level anymore and they kind of fall off. Like last year again, if we just go back to Colorado, the most recent example, Bowen byram and Alex newhook step up in big ways.

"McKenna for the left circle rifling one in on goal and marassa was square to the shot took it off his chest and let it drop into his catching glove and held it. Face off will be in the circle to his right with one O 7 left on the app. And the car two right handed players out there with three left handers. The left handers are all the guys that are down low around the front of the net. McKinnon and the car working out high in the power play area. You're looking for that back door pass all the time. Draw one by the abs. And here's black and in the right wing corner hawk's own moving it back to the right point for car law Rick shot. They score. Another power play goal for Colorado. They're now four for 6 on the power play in this hockey game and lead at 5 to two with two 57 left in regulation. I think this goal is going to go to the choose get and again just put the big body to choose gets 6 four standing in front of the net and he's got a guy screening the goaltender right in front of Brazil. He can't see what's going on and then a little redirect there by nachos from the shot from a car coming in. Shooting lane was there Blackhawks kind of lost their structure out high shots on goal with traffic. That little redirect that you see has got two in this game like an ins got to the abs have four power play goals. And they pretty much put on a clinic here in special teams you know and I'm not saying that the penalty killing has been bad for the Blackhawk out. I understand power play in the abs is just that good. Here's domi now into the abs out to the left point passes one through the air intended for Athens to see who was breaking to the nets. The puck bounces over at the sea is second into the catching glove of georgi of who will hold on. A major pickup for the abs after losing Darcy Kemper Kemper saint of the Washington capitals. Came in here. They've got shirk and is their number one guy and he was available. In my mind, sister can is a great goaltender. The Jersey of held his owner in New York when he was playing. And it didn't get the real of the opportunities. He's going to get the opportunity here to be number one with Franco as the one beagle tender. And Pavel Franco has an undefeated record against the Blackhawks at four zero and O with a shutout. So strengthens the goaltending position, obviously that's what a general manager like your friend Joe sackett was looking to do. Inside the hawk zone, the puck taken on the near corner by Logan O'Connor who spins it back to the left point for Bowen Byron, but it's over sticking back in behind the avalanche net. Georgia will scrape it around at the right wing side Alex newhook at center ice. Hit by Tyler Johnson as he enters the hot zone, lost the putt, but the abs will take it back. "Nathan McKinnon, their superstar player. He just inked an 8 year contract extension that's worth 12.6 million annually making it the richest contract against the salary cap in NHL history. They've locked up star defenseman kale Macarthur for a long time. They've still got a lot of the players that made up the depth of this team. They're in very good shape. Now the bad news. They had some significant roster changes. They lost experienced players like nazem kadri and Andre barakovic forward and goaltender Darcy Kemper. Now, I think they've got the depth to a place where koski on the wing and young Alex newhook can replace kadri's scoring, but not necessarily his intangibles. The real question is, what is this goal tend to look like? They had Pavel Franco's back. He was Kemper's backup and they traded for New York rangers back up. Alexander georgiev, they're going to split time. They basically want to see if they can make your give kind of like a Philip group hour was for them a couple of years ago. Get a backup from somebody else, make them into a starter and they're pretty optimistic they told me that they're going to be able to work out this goaltending tandem to great success. So Frankie versus georgiev. Two of the great names in the sport, battling for time. Indeed, I am much like Columbia and Rocky Horror picture show, a regular Frankie fan, he won 6 of 7 playoff appearances during the abs run of the Stanley Cup. I think he's a goalie that's always seemed like he needed his shot, sometimes health has been a consideration. Georgia is going to be interesting. He was the goalie with the rangers. Obviously lost his gig to eager to chuck and the best in the trophy winner. And a lot of people had said, if you get them out of New York and put them in the situation, he's going to thrive. But again, this is a huge pressure deal. This is a team that clearly has designs on winning back to back cups, much like the lightning did right. Like the penguins did and now he's going to have to in the words of GM Chris McFarland as he told me carry the ball a little bit himself. But you mentioned the lightning. I mean, the lightning, look, there's a hole larger story here, Greg that we need to address up top here because this is a team that has won two Stanley cups in the last 5 seasons. They have made the playoffs all 5 of those years, but the story that we need to get to is the fact that Ian Cole, their defenseman, has been suspended, right? There was this investigation into allegations that were made on social media that he sexually abused the woman when she was a minor. And so what do we know about this situation beyond the hockey analysis side of it? Well, Ian Cole was signed in the summer as a free agent by the lightning. He was expected to be in their starting lineup when the season opens against the rangers. But he was suspended over the weekend when an anonymous Twitter user put out a statement that said that Cole groomed her for four years, quote, starting when I was a minor in high school and noted that Cole was quote well aware of my age at the time of the alleged sexual abuse. The Twitter post didn't specify when or where this alleged encounter happened. The lightning subsequently released a statement saying that they had suspended Ian Cole quote pending the results of an investigation. They didn't specify if that was a police investigation and NHL investigation, their own investigation. And then Cole put out a statement through his agent later that night, saying, I completely deny these allegations and will fully cooperate with the NHL and the Tampa Bay lightning their officials, legal departments in the forthcoming investigation. I look forward to clearing my name and demonstrating to the NHL and the Tampa Bay lightning that these allegations are unfounded. So suspended for now as this investigation plays out, but obviously a bit of a bombshell in the NHL over the weekend. So as a lightning try and figure out a serious story and Ian Cole is held out of the lineup as they face the rangers to open the season as you just said, I do want to stick around in the Eastern Conference because the thing that's happening in Pittsburgh right now with a group of players group of veterans that I do recognize here. Sidney Crosby, evgeni malkin and Chris le Tang, who have been with this team forever, who won the cup together in 2017, I do find all of that intriguing, right? I mean, this team has been eliminated in the first round of each of these last four postseasons. And so the window that they have right now for championship contention, are they actual contenders still? Yeah, and the band is back together. There was some thought that they were going to blow up the roster based on the fact that they haven't had any success in the playoffs in the last few seasons, but they re signed up getting malkin. They re signed Chris la Tang, they bought back Brian rust. I asked Sidney Crosby if he was nervous this summer about the band potentially not coming back together and he said, you know, just I'm happy, relieved. And then immediately thinking, okay, we've got an opportunity. These guys are staying and now we've got to do something with it. So disturbingly good Crosby. Thank you very much. So Sid is happy. He's happy the band is back together. And if you that's happy. That's happy. That's as happy as we're getting from Crosby. The thing about the penguins that's interesting is this. They are convinced, and this was the selling point to ownership to bring back these veteran players that the last two postseasons were kind of they were a victim of circumstances. Their goal a Tristan jarry play horribly against the islanders in the first round. That's why they lost that series. Last year, if you remember Pablo, they had that situation where they were down to their third string goalie, Crosby gets hurt during the series against the rangers. They lose in 7 games. So their proof of concept is we had some weird stuff happened to us in the playoffs with this group together, bring the group back, maybe things go differently for us this time. And their window of opportunity is probably there for the next couple of seasons. They have a great coach in Mike Sullivan. They've got a pretty deep roster I expect them to make the playoffs again, but it is very rare in not only hockey, but professional sports to see a team run back a bunch of 35 plus stars after not having had success in the playoffs for the last four seasons. Yeah, and so I turn now to Alexander Ovechkin, as we often do when you mention the name Sydney Crosby, because what's happening with him in Washington, Greg, it's also interesting, right? This team won the cup in 2018. That was the year after the penguins did it. But ever since there has been something of like this downward spiral, right? I mean, so how likely is it actually that we might get a playoffs that we might get a postseason with that Ovechkin who himself is, yeah, 37 and without the caps possibly. Well, I have the cap's missing. It might be by a couple points, but I'm a little bit suspicious of the aging curve for them. Father time is undefeated as they say, Pablo and you look at TJ oshi, he's 36. He posted his worst offensive numbers in 7 seasons. Nick Baxter was 35. He's going to start the season on injured reserve after a major hip surgery. They're not sure when he's back. John Carlson, Lars Eller, both 33. And like you said, Ovechkin is 37, but Russian machine never break. Remember he's still chasing Wayne Gretzky's NHL mark of 894 goals. Ovechkin sits third all time with 780 has a chance to pass Gordie Howe this season at 8 O one. So his record chase will at least be a reason to keep watching the capitals, no matter what happens in the standings. The reason to believe if you're a caps fan is this, they posted an 8 98 team save percentage the lowest for any playoff team last season for their goaltending. They went out and signed Darcy Kemper from the Colorado avalanche to a 5 year contract. If he is the solution to their goaltending woes and their older players can still produce that reasonable levels, they may still be able to make the playoffs, but I have them out on the outside looking in. So if they remain on the outside looking in and they miss the Eastern Conference playoffs entirely, who is the team that didn't make those playoffs last season that you think could be in this one? It's the devil's the devil. Speaking of references that people under 37 probably won't get. Thank you. Thank you for making that. Shout out to my New York born gen xers. Listen, three things have to happen for the New Jersey Devils to make the playoffs. They need to get some saves for two consecutive off seasons. They've tried to improve their goaltending and into consecutive off seasons. It did not work. Now they went out and they acquired capitals goalie VTEC than a check to pair with Mackenzie blackwood. If those two can stay healthy and improve the goaltending, that's a good thing for the Devils. There's the health aspect. Dougie Hamilton, Jack Hughes, impact players. They were both banged up last season. Jack Hughes was limited to 49 games last year. If both of those guys are healthy, play at least 70 games, I think that's going to help them. Finally, they're power play stunt last year, Pablo. And if they can improve that with their new associate coach Andrew brunette, then

"Going through training camp getting ready for the start of the regular season and defending of the Stanley Cup. So let's look at Colorado for a moment here. That seems like the obvious place to start. So you don't have an awesome concrete. You don't have Darcy Kemper. There have been some other tweaks with the Colorado avalanche. But the nucleus for the most part, I think we can agree remains. So enough there to be as dominant as they were last season. And your thoughts on McKinnon getting that mega extension. Well, I do think there is good. Of course, there's questions. I mean, it's not just you replace what you what you think nazem kadri is. You've got to replace if you're going year to year comparison. Can they replace the cadre of last year? Yeah. And are they going to have to do that with one player or can two players do that? Because it doesn't have to be a one for one switch. I think it's going to be a challenge. Kadri gave them some grit and some bite and maybe with two players. Evan Rodriguez and JT call for the two I'm thinking of in particular. Maybe they can equal or get near the points, the kadri had. But it's going to be really hard to replace everything else that kadri brings to the table. Alex new hooks another. So I would say those three players who are all going to play in some way, shape, or form in the middle of the ice. Alex newhook, JT coffer, and Evan Rodriguez, they're going to have to approach the point total of kadri. But they're not going to appraise, they're not going to change the grit and the edge that kadri and completeness kadri plays the game with. Don't forget they won Stanley Cup without Sam Gerard. He broke his third against St. Louis in round two. And so you're putting in another 50 point defenseman. 40 to 50 points, like this is very good, very deep team. Then you get to the goaltending. I don't know what to make of georgiev a couple of years ago. We had a terrific year, then as he fell behind and things kind of went off the rails. You know, at some point, there was he got into an altercation with Tony D'angelo that let the kind of D'angelo leaving. However, you know, what is Georgia? Can he take the stress of being accounted upon goaltender? Says he wants it, but can he take that stress? At some point when you play goal for a team like Colorado, your job's not to screw up

"I am ready. I had a great weekend. I mean, listen, you know, when you win placing your dog of the day bet on Michael Smith who won the dart tournament here in New York. Tyler, you know things are good, boo. You know things are good. Oh, that is classic. Let's dive in with the NBA Finals. We saw a game two take place last night. The warriors able to even up the series one O 8 77, again, it was a big third quarter blitz that turned out to be the difference in the game. This time they were able to make it hold up. So we're not up at one a piece going back to Boston for game three, which will take place on Wednesday. We do have early lines and totals there. The Celtics are favored by three and a half total of two 12 and a half. So Anita lets you talk about this series any which way you want to if you want to go micro and look at game three and what you're thinking or it's going to go macro and take a look at adjusted series prices or MVP market. Where are you now after we've seen two games and the team split them both in San Francisco? Yeah, I'm sticking with the Golden State Warriors here to win the series. Again, I think they're the better team. And Steph Curry, to me, the best player on the court with all due respect to Tatum. So I'm going to double down with Steph Curry winning the MVP. You know, big picture as we know, I don't expect a Jerry West scenario here, right? So again, I do expect the Golden State Warriors to win the series for 8 quarters, in my opinion, watching this matchup, they've won 7 of them. Of course, we know what happened in game one that fourth quarter that 40 to 16 differential that helped, of course, Boston win game one, but this is Steph Curry, what we've seen him do, right? He leads all the players in scoring. He's put 63 points. He doesn't have a Finals MVP yet, Boston has a great defense. I mean, smart one defensive player of the year and he's still finding his groove, right? 73 pointers in post in the postseason for the 5th time in his career. This is the third time that he's had at least 25 points in 5 three pointers in back to back final games. And another thing Tyler is he doesn't get enough credit on the defensive side of the ball and you heard Steve Kurt talk about it. If you did watch any of the postgame, when we talk about Steph Curry, we always talk about offense off into the amount of points he puts up three pointers. But if you do watch him, he does play excellent defense as well. He just doesn't get enough credit for it. So again, just because I do believe the warriors are going to win the series, whether it's in 6 or 7, I hope it goes the distance because I'm excited for a series, but I'm going to double down on Steph Curry to win the MVP. Yeah, as far as game three is concerned, I'm thinking it's a spot to go in on the Celtics. They're 6 to no, this postseason coming off a loss. And I really do think that in the first half, Golden State was able to stay in the game and not let it get away from them because Boston turned them all over a lot and then draymond green and the warriors were kind of daring the rest of low the whistle being very physical and they did not. So then the third quarter blitz happened and that's been the case for the warriors at home and the struggles for the Celtics in the third quarter on the road. I think now at this game going back to Boston where their defense gets better, their offense should be better with the role players like Horford smart, Derek white, playing at home. I think you're going to see some bounce backs and them. I love Boston the first half because my favorite way to bed. I like them in the game. Again, 6 O coming off a loss. This postseason the fact that they're returning home and they have been. They've outscored Golden State and all and every quarter of this series, first second and fourth, the third, though, they're being outscored by almost 40 points. So it's that bugaboo third quarter. Unfortunately for the warriors though, they're not going to be at home in the next few games. Jeremy and Boston were that trend does not necessarily carry over. So the fact that Boston was able to win three out of the four quarters over the course of those 8 total quarters, those two games and gold state shows me that they're the better team. And so I do like them to win game three and take a two one series lead. Game four, I think it's going to kind of be the fulcrum point of this series. Like I said before the series started, I thought Boston was the better team, but the home court advantage for gold state can not be ignored. I did not bet a series price. What I tried to do to get a better return on investment Anita was just an exact score in the series. And since Boston, I think it's the better team. I like Boston and 6 at plus three 80. And then if it got back to Golden State for a game 7, I like the warriors to win at home in a game 7 with their experience and pedigree. So the warriors in 7 was I think plus three 25. So I have those two bets. I think the split in games one and two sets up well for both of those outcomes. So I'm just going to hold on to those two that if one of them hits, I'm guaranteed profit obviously at both I'm down to units, but I'm at least up a unit and some change if one of those hits Celtics and 6 in Boston or warriors and 7 and that's where I'm going to stay and hang right now and see what happens. But again, as far as game three is concerned, I definitely am going kind of heavy kind of big on the Celtics thinking get a two one lead and really put the warriors on their heels coming off a game too loss. So that'll be our initial look early in the week at the NBA. Of course, the NHL postseason continues. Yesterday we saw the lightning get on the board in their series against the New York rangers three two. They let go by Andre pilat made it a two one advantage after three games for the ranger. So right now, nothing but home teams have won, so you could say that series hasn't started. Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, we do have a game for tonight and it's an opportunity for the avalanche on the road to complete a sweep of the oilers. They are minus one 35 road favorites, total of 6 and a half, which I think is the lowest we've seen in the four games so far. Any way that you're looking at this NHL match up an opportunity again for the ambulance to close the series out. Yeah, so you could get them on the money line, as you said, it minus one 35, but you could also get them to close out the series for an O of minus one 25. Okay, well. Tyler, give me the minus one 25 over the minus one 35. So I'm going to play the avalanche to sweep, of course, winning the series four. There are one game away. They've just been tremendous. They came from behind in one four two in game three. They've won 6 straight on the road. They're 6 and one against Edmonton this season. Second string goalie came in and had 27 saves, also Edmonton, don't forget Cain is going to be suspended on that bad hit on kadri. So Qadri 13 goals in 15 games. Who's going to step up? Alex newhook. He's going to step up. He's got 13 goals this season in 71 games, only averaging 13 minutes a game. So I'm also going to play new hook to score a goal at plus 360. So that's how I'm going to play it tonight..

"Like let's say you have lunch get rid of, you know by room or one of these guys or even you know by room and a phone number. Person like, you know, Alex newhook Who's down a b c who's the top player, you know along with a lot of other guys would suck for them. But also they've got killed the car and Nathan MacKinnon like 5 or so and also they get friggin Sidney Crosby. So like I think they'd be fine. Like the Bruins don't have that those assets unless you're talking about parting ways with wage, you know franchise cornerstones on the team, which obviously don't want to do if you're trading even Crosby right? Like you're not trading David pastrnak, you're not trading Charlie McAvoy like those are like the to like we talked about this, you know a while back with Michael trade. It's like, all right you fall in like he's from he's from Massachusetts. He's a very very good player. But unless you want to give up Charlie McAvoy. You're not getting Jack eichel. Oh, yeah, that is that is the most because obviously pastrnak you're not trading like that would defeat the purpose of a Sidney Crosby trade, but McEvoy would make sense to go back in a Crosby deal. You're not doing that now why you don't pass? Again, you said the Avalanche have them a car they have other they have other really solid defensive and if if you get rid of bone Byram, like that sucks, but you're getting Crosby and you have other pieces Burns do not have that black point. No, no, not at all. So again, it's a fun scenario. But you know, the Bruins have assets said if it needs to make a move at the deadline and get you know, if gossip is cautious Still Remains out and they need to get a top-six forward look at like Palmieri they have the assets to do that. Whether it be, you know, first round pick or a few other guys, even like a back and I a nurse pieces like that even lump in a couple of different players you look at the guy like Palmieri look at on defense Galaxy case at home who gets tied to the Bruins a lot. As you know off legitimate top-four defenseman a big body. He's on my fantasy team. I would love that. Yeah, so, you know those guys that they sold the assets to get without severely subtracting from the roster like maybe It's you know, you know, is it moral or Lowe's on maybe get put in that deal? I know people I think are very hesitant to do anything with Louis on right now cuz I think his stock is risen significantly, but you can still make a deal for you know, a guy like at home and improve your roster and part ways with the Gallows on if you're going in all in this year, but you're not trading away foundational pieces to get a guy like Crosby just because you're Russ is not constructed to hate to take that hit like congrats you have Sidney Crosby. Now, you have a major hole in your D cor we give up your you know, twenty twenty-three years old defenseman who he's a top-five Norse candidate so far the first quarter of the year, like it's the way they rely on some of these younger plays. It just isn't feasible for the Bruins to make deals like that the borough for Crosby's birth up you do mentioned own interesting part about Lowe's on stock being so high sboros stock is insanely High feel like right or compared to what it maybe once was speaking of stock talk. Here we go again, but.
