"Joy, by writer curator and educator, bad bad casavecchia. In this episode, bad weather speaks about the work of artist Alex Martinez row, with excerpts from her video, a story from circular de la rosa from 2014, as well as from becoming public among ourselves, a text written by Barbara about Alex as part of the volume shapes of knowledge. Published by monash university, Museum of Art and parameter editions in 2018. Today, I mean, in line with the subject of the symposium, I thought I would like to read from a text that I put together a couple of years ago. In relation to the work of Alex martinis roe, who is Melbourne born artist, this has been living in Berlin for many years and now relocated to Australia. And we met when she was having an exhibition at Argentina in Bozeman and then in Milan when she was doing research. She was at work on a series called to become two, which was a research into the genealogy of sexual difference theories and feminist practices. It then also became a book and a series of videos. So when I wrote to Alex to ask her, she was happy to share some of her videos. She replied with a few lines that I wanted to share with you. So this is what Alex wrote me. And I think it's quite in line with many things being said today. So I think that the difference with the artistic research practices, explores in this symposium, is that while they engage with archives and documents, they do so without treating them as objects, but rather as fragments that bring us into contact with other people and their stories. In this practice is the stories cultures and people they come from are cared for. Just as we care for the people we are committed to. The community, the last story of event, which is community of living history, one of the super groups in the library of the Milan. Say that where there is limited archival traces, they can channel the stories of women in their female genealogy in embodied ways and make them a real relationship. Time is not linear. I would like to start by sharing a fragment of to become two. Which is a story from each year colo de la rosa. My dear, I have been searching for stories to help explain the way I see our relationship. Stories from the history of the political practice of relations. It has led me to the places where the women who theorized it, still practice it..

"And that's something you've kinda come into this except remember when the rangers lost the stanley cup final. Quick fourteen yes. I do remember scored the goal when they lost five games. I co- petar now. It was alec martinez really. Yeah he To fully came up the right wing fired a shot. Lundquist kicked out the revenge. Fucking yawning cage. I remember seeing it from the seat. That i was in a staple center and i blacked out. Those hugging people. Fourteen rose up. When i came to. Do you think that alec martinez ever gets tired about talking about that. Fucking goldie scored. But that's isn't that different. I mean for his. No one knows alex martinez alec martinez except for the goal. That he scored. In that moment. i'll tell you a lot of. I hear what you're saying. Okay but what. I'm saying. Is i mean there are a lot of kings fans right now. He plays for different teams. Still in the league. right. I mean every time that he gets asked even if it's far less than about arrow relive the fact that he scored in overtime goal at home to win the stanley cup. I and i'm ready to move on from aero but the only time that anyone ever brings it up is to talk about. What a fucking raging success. It was right so look. I'm trying to do this because you know when we first i guess when we did our would have been our first podcast or our second podcast when i had the when i had the panic attack it because i was trying to get away from something without properly thinking about how important in impactful and just immense a role it played in my entire life. I i hear you i would. I would say the analogy wasn't exactly spot on on that one okay. I think the analogy should've been we'll put alec martinez decided to play baseball. And he doesn't want to talk about hockey anymore. That's not a good analogy either. But again he's twenty years now. I was going to be trying to enjoy dinner. Donald redondo beach. Okay just as the assess where like hermosa. Whatever that's where all the all the all the boys on the kings live as a manhattan or whatever live on the beach and you know he's going to get interrupted at dinner but he's gonna have to recall that moment where he fucking one stanley cup in overtime. I mean that's also the biggest moment of his life. If like twenty five years from now you know hypothetically because you'll do a lot more but the only thing you done was arrow and heels which are too great shows you probably. I'm probably what calling you up being Heels came out today. Let's you wanna you wanna be podcast and the stanley cup. A memory that you the world will remember. Release the whole city of los angeles and al forget. I forgot it. I didn't even remember it. Because i'm not a big thinks this whole analogy from the no. The analogies are great. We're learning about analogies as we go on. I want to get into heels. Because k you sent me the screener and watched it. And now i realize how hard you fucking worked on that and i know what a perfectionist you are and i know that you love wrestling so much. You've wrestled with major wrestlers from the wwe. You've been following your whole life..

Look we do business with them times a year the rest of the time. They're on their own and do what they want. it's true they're not their employees so In an easy way out but could there be special cases. Maybe is this one. Maybe it could be that they just told me. "But they've clearly gone away from that and you have a nine point five, million dollar cap hit with more extolling have an eight point eight, million with outs betrayal you've got to it's seven now with Marc, Andre Fleury who will get to maximum Apache already. You you're basically saying. Lena, the high in talent we maybe weren't able to draft it. We weren't able to finish in the top five of the drop because we're too good and that's where you get that talent and so some of this stuff that that you know about the I, you know finding center in, are they strong enough down the Middle King Cody glass step up in produce you know essentially what Paul stazzone did does that become a wash can challenge Stevenson continue to produce you know wherever he is down the middle. In you know too much. No sick. Can they get a little bit more of Nicholas Wa as he gets older and then if that's the case and then goals aren't a problem you know then yeah. In theory you're getting more from your Blue Line. In your a better team. But I just think in general it speaks to their aggressiveness in speaks to what they think. It takes to win a Stanley Cup and and that's a lot of high end talent and they've been willing to go out and get it. No they definitely have been aggressive in kind of a going after what they want in the before move on do you WanNa talk about at least briefly the consequences that can have as well near Brian Burke who is a sports net commentator ex GM mentioned we know after traded that you know basically he thought the nights might be building a reputation as a team that's going to you know basically a let guys go or not let guys kind of feel secure. In their contracts in there are certainly rumblings when you know it wasn't just Schmidt's name that was out there as the nature kind of courting low. There was plenty of other players like Alex Martinez Marcello Max Patch already that were floated as contracts that could potentially be moved to a create that cap space for portraying Gelo we also listened a David Nine to zoom conference call that Schmidt did when she was clearly like super emotional about leaving the nights in. That's a guy that signed a six year extension in twenty obviously with the feeling that he would be staying with the Organization for the length of that contract. You know it is ultimately a business and things sometimes just don't Kinda go as planned Kalimba crimen even mention that I. Did. Not. Want to trade nate Schmidt except in one particular circumstance in that particular circumstance had to be you know getting back basically a number one percents men, which they feel Alex potential low is but it is. What do you think about you know does this impact the nights kind of a feeling around the Legal Dave? Are you do think that players are going to be a little bit more gun shy about to meeting here are just Going to have a little bit more hurt feelings with how they're treated here because you know they are being ruth listened as we've kind of talked about in some ways it's very admirable that they are willing to do whatever it takes. To try to improve this team or do what they think is going to get this organization closer to a Stanley Cup. But you are still dealing with human beings here and I think you know there is an emotional cost goes all this to. Okay so I was the one that asked the question. So I feel like I have to bring this up. In Niche Mitts zoom call with the media I asked him about just George mcphee. And kind of his relationship with George. Sort of in twenty years, you know, how are you going to be able to look back and?.

"Game five over the Dallas Stars. I was a tongue twister there for me, but I got it all out thankfully and they gave you know, they hold off from elimination. So the the lightning were looking to close them out. It didn't happen and it's been a long and serious, you know, as I mentioned on the last podcast going into this game the the lightning have dominated this series, they outscore them 27 to 7 a.m. However, I also mentioned and as I mentioned throughout on my podcast when it comes to playoffs and you get deep defense defense is what wins championships so the Islanders wage finally had a big game on the defensive side from The Loft came up big in the Nets with only allowing one goal. And this was a Highlander style of game. I watched the game and was fun to watch on. They were able to keep Tampa's office to a minimal in Tampa that I mean, they've got Sharpshooters that they shoot this Puck a hundred miles an hour and find these little holes off your goals, but it did not happen last night. And so now we go to a game six. And if the item those are going to still content ice, they were my pic and I'm still rooting for them. So I'm still standing behind the other nurse, but Tampa Bay is just so strong. But if the items are going to contend they're going to have to continue with the solid defense. They're going to have to shut down that production on the Tampa Bay Side and play a hard physical game and keep the low-scoring game. That's the only thing that's going to favor the Islanders if they can get this thing to go to the seventh game. The other big news in hockey was on Monday the Stars beaded the golden knights 3 to 2. And when they did that the Stars became the first team in a bath towel and environment to advance to the finals. So the Dallas Stars will be going to the Stanley Cup finals. They haven't been there in twenty years, but they are going back incredible went for them incredible series. They shut down the golden knights as they want the series 4 games to want the big story was kadavan, you know and five games you only gave up eight goals. Plus you have a shutout and and just shut down a hipe a good offensive team like tonight's for only giving up eight goals and 5 gauge. It was clearly the difference. So congratulations to the Dallas Stars first team in the bubble to make the finals and they are now in the Stanley Cup and they'll be dead. Doing the victors of The Islander Latin series and we'll see what happens there. So Stars moving on unfortunately the golden knights season came to an end and not because of that again. The show was recorded here in Las Vegas. So I get a lot of the local golden knights fans and Bob everything that's going on off but because their season came join and I decided to make the theme of today's show the golden knights and what I'm going to do here for the next couple of minutes. I'm a tribute to the golden knights. Yes, they lost but they didn't make it to the semi-finals in the Western Conference, you know, there's fifteen other teams that can't say that so it was a good year for the golden knights. So some of the things that happen, you know, they were first place in the Pacific Division with 86 points. They were also the number one job. Sing in the playoffs. So it was a good year. And even though they've lost it they can't hang their heads low, but let's let's give them a hell of a job. You know, let's give them a round of applause for a great year. So I'm going to kind of go over a few things here as I pay tribute to them. You know, the thing that I like about the golden knights is there they have changed their style of hockey is a little bit different than everybody else and it was pretty incredible. One of the things that they did extremely well. If not probably maybe the best in all of hockey was just there for checking so when they were for checking it it broke up it broke up their opponents ability to set up down down in the offensive ring. So therefore checking kind of Life their defense and you know, if you look at their defense Shake Theodore Alex Martinez, Brandon McNabb, you know, they're all big names are on the defensive end from the dead. They gave up two hundred nine goals, which ranked them 13th overall, which isn't bad by any means on the golden knights are a balanced team their their their defenses Goods or offensive strong. They're not one of these minded teams like in the East where you have a bunch of defense or or a team even like Tampa, though they're in the East they're all offense. It's awful. It's a balanced mix so their defense they had a grid Good Year and it all started with their forechecking by allowing their opponents not to get going and set up in the other end of the month. Let's look at their offense. The office was incredible and they had a big production yet, you know, they had 224 goals which was ninth overall for the year and I shut down that's that's big production. The thing that I love the best about their offense is they did something that you haven't seen since to Wayne Gretzky Cara AR faki And that is they love to operate from behind the net and they did it in a fine fashion. When whenever they got the puck down on offensive zone inspect the wrong power plate. They worked at Park and it wasn't just your normal outside passing to your defenders in your wings is they would find somebody behind the net to try establish a play-off something else that they did that was probably there was real incredible and maybe even the best of lake as well was their ability to shoot off the past was better than nobody else, you know, when they move that pop around when it would come out to the defensive man. These guys were winding up and taking one-timers that were incredible and people don't realize how hard that is. Yes, they're professionals are expected to but they did it extremely well and it made their their their offensive brand of hockey extremely excited excited so dead. I think that was the big part of the season was their offense, you know, the stone Carson and pack already line was the number one line. It was big production was fun to watch Paw Patch already left. The team was 66 points and thirty two goals Mark Stone had 63 points 21 goals Riley Smith with 54.27 gold. Oh big production plus marchis. All Carlson and Theodore were all in the 40 range has as far total points. So when you've got five or six players up that hiding the production range that shows you that got a solid team and that's what they had all year incredible production from the whole team kind of a song comes to an end. But I just wanted to pay tribute kind of go over a few of those things. Let's talk. Well, that's put a positive spin on the stock futures this morning, which you're trading higher, all in contrast to yesterday when the Labor Department reported that gross domestic product contracted by the most on record. 32.9% on an annualized basis in the last quarter that highlights the unprecedented weakness of the overall economy. "It's fantastic and i know this is a a little bit of a smaller scale but joe golly who does the the end of you. A announcing or has been doing the end of union announced that they're going to full-scale tv tapings in the fall. He's going to be doing those and they announced that and i'm not sure how it's going to work with color. I know jim jim. Cornet works with them l. w. I don't know if that that precludes him from working with the end of u._a. Away or not but i'll be interested to see who they get <hes> as a personality to fill their color spot a couple of things first off with both marvez xantia vanni. I mean the commentary on w._w._e. Main rosser television is god awful and i honestly i think that some of the people that hated alex martinez and let me just say this right here that yes alex. Martinez used to work for the wrestling observer in like the year two thousand. I think i've talked to him two times in the last nineteen years so i don't want people to say that brian only saying this because he's friend but by the way i think the miami herald zero deal is a little bit bigger for him at the time sure so. I think that the people that really hated alex. Moore says are the fans that aren't watching ching main roster w._w._e. Because i'm not going to sit here and say that he was good okay but when people were talking about how horrible he was i was i was like he's not horrible. He's just not good in the rule. He's not great in the role. It may be someday. He will be but honest to god. I would rather listen to him then. The smackdown announced team from this past tuesday night. It was oh tunga byron saxton stint and tom phillips. Tom phillips is okay. He actually might be he may be the best guy on the on the main roster like between ron smackdown but the other two oh my god so when people got morteza kind of like come on seriously now shivani i have personally in-person apologized to tony shivani for anything that i might have said about him as announcer in the nineties now part of that is is because again the ron smackdown announced teams are so horrible that i watched tony shivani in the nineties and he's great now and even in the year two thousand when this is the worst promotion there has ever been w w in the year two thousand he still fine and when you consider what he actually was calling at the time you could almost say that he was exceptional. Nobody i don't care if you're jim ross. Nobody could have done two thousand w._c._w. And been any good at it the fact that he was listenable said a word listenable. The fact that you can listen to him at all is a miracle. I heard on emel w w he's he's excellent like this is going to be a great announce team yeah. I think tom phillips is the best in wrestling right now along with kevin kelly two different styles <hes> but both i think equally good in their own way <hes> it is hard to be an announcer announcer you you do need. They're very few naturals. You need years of experience and honestly i just think the clock ran out on alex marvez and you know just because he's not doing it now. Does it mean that he can't do it in the future and her when you go oh on national television and you've got executives at the t._n._t. Level were going to be watching the show. They're not wrestling fans. They're not going to know as gorilla..

"Sports radio, Alex Martinez. Once again, I Alex before we get to some NFL talk. Rumors are circulating that the alliance of American football. Maybe having its final weekend ever. What is the story about the survival of the alliance of American football? You know, I just feel like so many of the things, you know, when you hear people like Charlie ever saw and you ever saw on television and Bill Polian be standing behind. And it and you have public statements that we've got two years worth of funding. So we can weather. The storm is things go on. Okay. That's all well and good. But we don't no one really cross-checked whether this was actually true because I'm not sure if you're aware of this might Bianchi who radio host and Orlando pointed out the door Orlando Apollo's had to stop broadcasting their games on radio because they couldn't afford to pay the broadcast. Well, I can I can assure you, I know of at least one other broadcasting that has yet to be paid. Yeah. So, you know, where we're going with all this, and you know, the checks in the mail, right? And you know, that's just you know. And look, I the thing is when you went into this venture. And this is what I really don't understand. Did you really think that the NFL players association was just gonna say, oh, yeah. You can use our NFL players. You know? That's no problem. You know, that's okay. Because of it being a developmental league. Will I the NFL has never committed to this project? Right. I mean, they've never I mean they've given access to video and things like that. And they've been very cooperative with. With them. But they've never given money to this group to keep it afloat. And I think maybe that was what was the hope that the NFL would do this. But instead it looks like the league is just gonna let economic forces play their part at the league is to pull fine. And maybe they have to become bedfellows with the XFL. If indeed that group can get going with the question becomes all of these players this year that worked in the alliance of American football. They're all hoping to get into NFL camps. And they don't want to be a long term part of the alliance of American football. And I think the reason that they want to be able to get access to NFL developmental players. Is that the alliance realize what's going on here with the XFL launching? They're going to be there's going to be competition for all of these these players trying to still make it in the NFL, and they may not even have enough decent talent appeal to roster. So sorry to be so long winded about this. But it's a shame that you know, the NFL can't get a developmentally going. Instead, they're just get looks like they're willing to let all these little groups fight it out and notice reap the benefits without having to invest a dollar. Well, I wanna go back though to NFL Europe which lasted almost two decades. So how valuable was NFL Europe? I mean, I it was around for a long time, Alex. And that's what I'm trying to figure out if there's any true value in a developmental league for the NFL what couple of things about the the NFL Europe thing, you know. Yes. It was a developmental league. Let's not forget to the NFL was trying to use this to gain inroads into the European market and to catch people up on football itself. And you know, when you think about it. Well, Kurt Warner played in the Atlanta in the NFL Europe. Jake the Lome and other Super Bowl starting quarterback. He played in NFL Europe. I mean, it was it was a productive league. But it was also so expensive to be based overseas. And and just apetit owners just wanted to stop paying for it. They just thought this is not we're not getting enough talent produced out of this. We're not getting footholds in Europe. Let's come up with a different strategy. You notice we haven't had an NFL game played in Germany or any Amsterdam or Spain your Barcelona any of these places Renna for Europe was instead they figured let's just get a foothold in the UK and recalibrate. And that's exactly what they did. Plus, the Recode to do said, I would rather have players in in our own offseason program and in two thousand seven that was all well and good. The problem is that the CBI has changed in starting in two thousand eleven the off season programs have become so truncated. You really can't teach too much can hold just no time. You're not allowed to work with players in that regard. So now there is more of a of a desire by some folks to have a developmental type football league. But apple owners, they don't want to pay for it. They want to maximize profits. Does the loggerhead we have right now with the to American football, the XFL the Pacific pro league. I mean, do I need to keep going here. Because there's about seven or eight upstart groups that are all trying to get into football business in the spring. And I guess the big problem is also this idea that people can't get enough football. You know, February's one thing. But once you're going up against March man, it's the start of the baseball season everything else slim pickings out there as far as an audience is concerned. Also, remember to they were trying to put a gambling element into this. And that's going to be one of the big things on the XFL you use the app, you can bet as the game goes on there were trying for that. And remember to this isn't so much necessarily about the burn out factor. Don't a lot of ways Steve what they needed and the alliance of American football. At least at this point hasn't gotten it. But the XFL she'll be interesting because they're meteorites are being shot by a creative arts agency ESPN, plus and he's streaming services. Right. So that basically, you're just providing content, and it's not even like these leaks have to sell tickets or draw television ratings. That's that's up to the the network to help produce those ratings they defeat to produce product. So let's say, for example, the XFL gets a deal with the SPN. Plus and they go on their streaming services as. Part of the options there. Well, suddenly, I mean, that's a huge boom for them. They're going to be able to stay afloat for a couple of years because of the money that's involved in the contract. I mean, as you know, the television industry is changing before our very eyes. And unfortunately for the alliance of American football. They had that partnership with CBS, and there are games that are actually going to be on CBS sports coming up after after the NC double A tournament. It doesn't look like that's going to be enough to save this group without some sort of infusion of cash again from someone else beside this current owner or ingredient when it comes to getting players that are developmental type players that would be targeted by the alliance able to play in their league. Let's talk about gronk right now. So gronk. What what what what are you? What is really going on here with Iraq retirement? I mean, I is this going to be a test the water retirements or like Jason Witten turn out to be where hey, I got a pretty good job announcing didn't work out. So well, maybe I'm coming back or do you think like gronk has played his last game simply because of the wear and tear on his body. Well, I know why we're talking about gronk announcing Monday night football. I mean, doesn't this make a perfect transition? Right. Oh, wait. We already had a tight end do that. Yeah. But in a little different than Whitten. I mean to anybody. A hundred and eighty degrees, different whatever you wanna do. I mean, what are what are wrong plans is he going to jump into the wrestling arena? I mean what what is this game plan here? I know WWE would use them. I I know that for a fact and he's friends with a guy named Mojo Raleigh who's who's a WWE performer. And he could he could always pursue that. I don't see rob ever pursuing a full time schedule with that. But I think he's a guy who is just tired of the grind to football. From what I understand. He may have had some types of feelings. Like, look, I'm not going to have to practice in four. Am I gonna have to do you expect to hold off season program like where they're going to be any special allowances for gronk? And I don't think the patriots necessarily willing to go down that road, and let's be real here too. You know, the patriots aren't going to be waiting for rob gronkowski to get younger or give me healthier. I mean, they may be moving on a different direction at the tight end position as well. Starting with this year's draft where they have so many early picks you'd be able to move up and target somebody to try to ultimately replace him easier said than done, of course, I think we gronk he's just gonna now. He's free, right? He'll see what's out there. Other opportunities for him. Could he always return to football? Absolutely. He's only twenty nine years old. But he is beaten up. I mean, the man has lost his wheels. I mean, look who's faster than the rains linebackers. I give them credit for it credit for that. He was passing the Dirk bury. It was just quick it up for one more great game and enter to carry games. And now he leaves on top. I just think though for right now he is done with football. And by the way, when you say, oh, yeah, he may change his mind and come back in midseason, you understand like you actually have to train to come back and midseason you gotta work it out with your come on man coming off the couch. Like Joe is sue Alex, you make you make a great point from you know, with about gronk patriots. The one of my favorite teams. I'm from Philadelphia. Of course, I'm I'm kind of like a double whammy, I love the eagles as well enough that they, you know, they got Jordan Howard as running back up, you know, just from a player's perspective of myself playing an MBA I was talking to James Harrison who played for Pittsburgh Steelers end up James have back surgery as well. We were talking last week. The fox. And you know, he was like, you know, listen, it's it's a lot of grind and bump in a gronk is transition from a passer to a blocker. And he's gonna be you know, he's gonna be dealing with a lot of three hundred pound guys if he has to come back to season of as far as changing his role. So my thing is I was explaining to James will not explain just asking him. Listen, if grump to dedicate himself really dedicate stuff into his body because grunts Sony twenty nine years old. He's only played actually at a nine seasons. He only played seven seasons. He actually did not play. If you think about it. Right. The games. So it's like is it more. So to me because I've seen guys who does is it more. So his social life is was tearing them down because I've seen a lot NFL NBA baseball guys will your social life, tears, you down so much now being twenty nine years old. I think a lot of graphics and and people love his enthusiasm. His personality the whole thing about gronk. He's a party guy. He's a great guy. Great teammate, extr- extremely talented athlete. But do you think it's more? So like gronk social life. That's kind of like stole some years from him. It's a just say this real quick up against it. Remember, he also did play a full season postseason games. So we can throw in what we'll make it eight seasons because he played sixteen playoff games, including Super Bowls during his time in the NFL. But that being said, you know, look, I think there was party for a while the guy that you never see him out of shape. The guy the guy does work out. In fact, he was just in a buddy. My wife's yoga class three weeks ago down to Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday. That's. Made him do that. Doesn't get out of shape book can can athletes if they're living large, and and you know can aware on him for over a period of time. Absolutely. I don't think that's the case with grant. I just think he was beat up. I think mentally he's tired of the grind chill-out. Maybe it'll be a year. And maybe he never comes back. Maybe he'll find happiness and something else that he does. I just know the NFL and the patriots worst off with him not being there. The less than ten seconds. If Antonio gates has played his final game gates and gronk will be on the hall of fame. Ballot simultaneously who's more deserving of being a first ballot? Or would you vote bolt? Those guys first ballot. Why be tempted to vote boat. I mean, you also have Julius peppers, by the way. Yes, be a first ballot nominee as well. So this is this is star. We're gonna put three first ballot guys in. I think Ron because of the combination of rushing know blocking and receiving would probably be ahead of gates. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't vote gates. Do they all have in common basketball players? Yes. Right. Absolutely. That's a that's a real oddest skill. They're remember peppers at North Carolina. He was unbelievable. Great stuff. As always, Alex. We'll talk to you next week. Alex, Alex marvez, our NFL insider. All right. Lot of controversy last night in the NBA, and the Golden State Warriors think that they have a target on their back..

"I we were just talking with Alex Martinez about a lot of things NFL free agency going on. There is a name out there still floating that is a very prominent name and his name is Dominic and ensue and against after leaving Miami signed a one year deal with the Rams. And even though we didn't have a great year. He certainly played some pretty good football down the stretch. But every I wanted to ask you about Katina Mobley about this whole free agency thing, and this is for sports across the board. Because as I mentioned you during the break, so many times you see guys in free agency end up getting way more than their value. And then other guys that everyone thinks is gonna get the big deal fails, and they get less. So I mean, I know you sort of put your toll on the free agency. How does this all work? I mean, do you just lean on your agent and make a deal the forces situation? How does this all work man while I was very blessed? Right. So for me, all I had to worry about is what I wanted to worry about was basketball. If I'm performing. You know, you'll get paid simple as that right now. You have to understand the business as well. I'm not gonna see here. Look look over your grass and say, well, you you aggressive greener know, what I'm gonna say I'm gonna play my best and out of the shooting guard that are out there. You know, I need my compensation for that. So that's the only way it's all the other stuff is just too difficult. But you also have to pay attention to whatever he was making. So if you see this guy making this, well, I gotta. Well, I gotta make at least the thing. I always kills me. And we're up against the clock that the fact that everybody knows what everyone's making professional. I know where everyone salaries on the board is that. It's it's good in as bad. Right. It's good for me. Because now, I know where where I stand right, right? It's bad. Because the now your judgment is kind of. It's not it's not genuine, right? So what I'd say to the players like just play. And all the other stuff will come to you. Well, I it's it's it's a it's a difficult game. That's for sure. But we'll see where Dominic and sue I think he should stay with the Rams, I the guy go Fox Sports radio studios. How will Zion change the future of the NBA? And now a quick comparison from grasshopper when a client calls. What do you want them to hear your personal voicemail? Hey, you've reached Greg cell phone. I'm aware now..

"See how much you could say. Well, this time last week. The pro football hall of fame committee was sitting down trying to figure out the class of thousand nineteen. They emerged from that. With three guys that we knew we were going to be I Bala guys. And that of course, was twenty Alice, Ed Reed and champ Bailey. And of course, the senior candidate Johnny Robinson got in the two contributor candidates, Pat bolan gillibrand got in. So essentially there were two spots left. Okay. There were two spots left. And we we're doing all the speculation on who they could be and as a turnout simply because of Kerry Rhodes on the broadcast at this time last week they chose to carry roads teammates days where the jets Kevin. Hawaiian isla. Yes. How is that field to have to are you going to go to teammates? Yeah. Probably go talk to tie tie was ecstatic. Obviously, it's it's the guy. That's really deserve. A really good player. Really smart player. The the really good guy deserved it. Then kevin. Why he didn't? He didn't make it as I time. But got in the second second go around and very emotional talk to him as well. I mean, he's right now with the coaching and out there with her male words coaching out there. But this to really class guy that really good guys that look up to as a as a young player for myself. I'm really really really excited for those guys. Well, believe it or not as far as how many years both of those guys have been eligible for their fifth year of eligibility. They're both Tyler Ammon. Kevin why? And by the way, they have both moving up the charts. And if you if you do pay attention to the voting it really should have come a no surprise, Milwaukee was selected over the other three offensive linemen. Again, a center over the two guards Steve Hutchinson and Allen fan. And then, of course, the great Tony Boselli only played seven years a tackle. And then tie law. We knew this. We talked about this last week. If you have champ Bailey is a first ballad guy has to go in with them. He actually has one more interception. A few more yards. He's got the three rings with New England. But they bypass the two safeties and Steve atwater John Lynch in favor of Thai law, and I'm sure that was the discussion in the room like if we're gonna let champion, and I remember, I think five with ties with one of the longest he was the longest. I'm sure they brought up the fact that he won and then in the yards and the guy had I mean, the numbers were too to comparable to not have them in. Yeah. Bypass, again, the coaches, Don coryell and Tom floors, and I talked to a lot of people from the hall of fame about that including in our own Alex Martinez. And he said, there's a movement afoot. They got to separate the coat just like they did with the contributors. They created a contributor category. You can't when there's so many players such a backlog of players Steve atwater should have been the hall of fame years ago. Maybe he will be, but I mean, putting the coaches in with players, it just doesn't make any sense. They have to separate the coaches, and there's a movement afoot, thankfully for the Coriolis. The floors is the Jimmy Johnson's the, you know, a lot of coaches that are deserving a look at the hall of fame. So that would be a good movement. Speaking a hall of fame next week with the the all star game they will announce the finalist for induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of fame. And this has been such a source of frustration for me over the years. The Naismith hall of fame is not the NBA hall of fame. There is no such thing as the NBA hall of fame. I like when I hear NBA hall of Famer, there's no such thing. But the Basketball Hall of fame is for everyone women international players even in duct teams. I mean, it just sort of this hodgepodge. But here's my frustration. There is a separate women's Basketball Hall of fame. There is a separate college Basketball Hall of fame. There's a separate fee for international Basketball Hall of fame. There's no EMMY hall of fame. So I was thinking about this target about the other day if we were to start an NBA hall of fame day one I would have a ten player class. Maybe coaches on the sideline ten player class here. The first ten players in the NBA hall of fame drum roll, no general, the two most significant pioneers, George Mike and Bob Cousy that's to Bill Russell Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Larry Bird, Magic Johnson. And Michael, Jordan. Boom. There's your first ten, and then I might stay with a ten person classwork couple years until you play a little catch up next class would have the Elgin Baylor's on the pets and Carl Malone's guys like that. But this is ridiculous. Having a Basketball Hall of fame where you have a Vivian stringer standing next to Michael Jordan as they were back in the day on. I mean, that's that's ridiculous. Yeah. I mean, it's I guess by the rules like you said, it's not an MBA when it's the the Basketball Hall of fame. Oh, yeah. I mean, that's a very very very. Influence a person, you know, there's many many coaches in the Basketball Hall of fame is our players. Now, imagine that in the hall of football or baseball hall of fame. We have as many managers are coaches are players yet in the Basketball Hall of fame. Apparently, the coaches do everything players don't do anything just pawns out there for these great coaches, they keep throwing into the hall of fame. Right. You know, me get all worked up at all the hall of fame and everything else better go bra briefing. We're in the guy go Fox Sports radio studios. It's gonna be a very interesting off season for the National Football League. What's going to make a different? We're going to tell you..

"Well, well, we are not in Atlanta. And I'm very grateful for that. Although from our beautiful L A studios. It is pouring rain here in LA, Harry. What's going on, man? I don't know. I thought I left the east coast for this Pacific resent. And I'm here, and it's it's really hard. So we're here it is coming down sideways, and by the way, I drive a smart car, which is not the smartest car in this weather. I can tell you that again. So we'll but sideways out there. But anyway, wherever you're listening. We're gonna continue to give you all the latest coverage for Super Bowl fifty three den. In atlanta. The Rams and the patriots are now day away from the big showdown in a game that will cover a lot of different angles on. Also today is the big day one. They're good announce the pro football hall of fame class of twenty nineteen including the fact that they're gonna put in some couple contributors a seniors candidate. And then you have the fifteen finalists that will eventually be whittled down. Onto five and that pretty much will make up the class of twenty nine thousand nine we'll find that out a little bit later on this afternoon. Alex martinez. Our men are man who joins us every single Saturday will not be joining us today because he is in that meeting Kerry. And in fact, right now, the meaning is going on and the way it operates is this. So you had the two contributor candidates Denver Broncos owner, Pat Bowlen. Yep. And Gil Brandt. I mean, boy have you ever talk about a guy who belongs as a contributor gillibrand who basically created the modern scouting system for the National Football League. From his earliest days with the Dallas Cowboys part of the original Dallas Cowboys staff in one thousand nine six, by the way, a guy that still working all the time. I mean, we'd see everywhere absolutely Gill is one of those guys. So those are the two contributor candidates though. Both get in Johnny Robinson is the seniors candidate. Johnny Robinson was a great safety for the Kansas City cheese. From their origins when they were the Dallas Texans, and then moved to Kansas City part of their Super Bowl championship team. He should have been in years ago. The good news is he's in his early eighties. He's still alive and he'll get in the fifteen finalists though, from the modern category is going to be a lot more competitive here carry and the way they're going to do it is they do presentations of all the candidates. So they have prepared members of the committee will do a presentation talking about why this person belongs to the hall of fame. And then once they've gone through all the candidates they vote to cut the list from fifteen to ten so five will be eliminated. And then they start the process over again. They re talk about everybody, then they vote again to get the list from ten to five so over the course of the show. We'll talk about some of these candidates. I want to start with you right off the bat being your organs as a safety in this league. The fact that we have three defend actually. Four defensive backs among the fifteen finalists of this year. Two Cornerbacks and two safeties. Let's start with the safeties Steve atwater. And John Lynch. These are both guys piled up nine pro bowls eight or nine pro bowls in their career, but very different type players. You know one obviously a Super Bowl champion with the Broncos. John Lynch part of the great Tampa Bay defence later. Ironically, played with the Denver Broncos. This is not Ed Reed. Ed Reed is going to be in the hall of fame. Ballot. I hadn't even mention it read. There's actually another safety, but he's. Start with Edry. Yep. Because he is going to be named the hall of fame. I Bala today. Sure. What made Ed Reed not just a hall of Famer. But one of the greatest safeties of all time before I get on air raid. I wanna get I want to send a condolences to Wade Wilson and his family. Yes. Great quarterback coach and player back in the day. So they want to give them a little shout out real quick. So we know what happened away. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know the exact details. But yeah, I saw Troy Aikman posts about. And then I kinda look passed away on his sixtieth Bernardine sixtieth birthday. Yeah. That is a real threat. I know for many years with Dallas. Okay. Yes. Wilson so sending our condolences to you guys. But going back to Ed Reed. He was just one of those special guys that it's like he he had a six cents on the field. Right. I mean, he was always a step ahead of the offense. In a lot of times. If you watch him play on the way those guys play back in the day. Obviously had he was giving a little a little bit more liberties than other guys. And that's because of his his awareness say liberties, we talk about most guys when it comes to league they have to play have to play defense by the books of the difference. Cisco before you play Cup before responsibilities and you go you go with Golic. Ed read it could be on the backside of a couple of four where if there's a three by one you suppose, look the number three and go to one, but he would tell. He'll be in a game. And he's so smart, and such as the vont that he would tell the backside corner. Look lock you take this guy. I'm gonna go wrong and make this clear on the other side. So he would not he would actually look past three in the two. So you think if three clears out you got their safety out the way, but not with him. He would set that up and go get the second one. I actually took a lot of his from him as I started to study. Right. But seeing some of the stuff that he did. But it just all came back to him being one step ahead. But also, he was a great communicator. And that's a big thing within with being a backhand guy as well. Like, if you communicate and fill that guy, what to do if you're going to take a chance, then it's still the the deepens throughout the sale is still secure. So he was really good at that. And I mean, I think he wasn't really good. He's probably the best. I've ever seen it that. Well, here's another thing. He was the best. And that is not just intercepting the ball. But he score. Here's here's an amazing stat. All right. He had sixty four interceptions in his career, which is a huge total. Are you ready for this? He. He averaged twenty five yards a return. On sixty four interceptions. I mean, I mean just think about that for second. So he's intercepted sixty four passes in his career in his average return was twenty four point eight yards a return for sixty four interceptions. Absolutely. That is so far and away. The best of all time. He had one thousand five hundred and ninety yards in returns, including the two longest interception. Returns in the history of the game. One for one hundred seventy one for one hundred six two thousand four nine interceptions, and he returned it for three hundred and fifty eight yards. So how does that how how do you average twenty five yards a return for sixty four interceptions? You have this thing called a God given ability why? It's it's nuts. What he did on on the field, man. He's such a such a pioneer at the position. And it's one of those guys like when you say game changes on offense and get a lot of those guys, but he was a game changer on defense. So Ed read is guaranteed. First ballot hall of Famer just like he was at the U before that his years or the ravens. No question a first ballot hall of Famer now the other safety couple safeties. I wanna talk about again our Steve atwater. John Lynch, neither one of them were Ed Reed. Both of them have been on this list for several years and a lot of times what happens with the pro football hall of fame as you get a little bit of a log jam this happened several years ago with Chris Carter, Andre Reid and Tim Brown yet three receivers that had you know credentials. He could say, well, this guy might be a little better, and they were sort of just bunched together. And then they finally broke the logjam Carter went in. I then read them around the all got in. Same thing happened a couple of years ago with Charles Haley, the five time SuperBowl champion and Kevin. Greene was third. All time in sacks were you know, you got one guy with a lot of sacks one guy with all the rings. And they seem to just lock heads for several years, then they finally put Haley in the next year the putting green. So when he got guys like out water and Lynch, let's compare these two guys. Now at water pre sees you a little bit. Obviously, you were certainly contemporary John Lynch, but what were the arguments be one way or the other for these guys? Yeah. I think I think they're both very similar. I think Steve he was pretty much. He was pretty much the linebacker back there that they put in the box. He was a big in big enforcer play well against Iran to me. He had a few big plays in the past game. But more of a run stopper in the game with a different game back then. So who the guy that can be enforcer a guy that's going to be aggressive? Make plays be Putzer. He's that guy. Really good player. Like, you didn't wanna see him across the middle. And he was one of those guys that affected off is that way. Like guys were scared the coast the Bollock right middle. So he's that guy's enforcer. As far as John Lynch goals. He's he's he's along those same lines. I think he was like on the tail end of that part of the part of the game then transfer onto like when he went to Tampa they play the temple to. He was the guy that could plan space. I'm a little bit better than Steve atwater. He could play he can make more plays in space better than St. about what I will give like if I were to pick between those two and and give one of those guys are not for the for the hall of fame. I would probably go Steve he was one of those like who's one of those transcendent guys early on where the game was a totally different game physical guy guy that can make plays. But between those two as far as like being able to be a game changer. I'll probably go, Steve, Steve, you know, and he has been around a little bit longer eligible a little bit longer. I big fan of his as well. And neither one of these guys have big interception. Dodos as you said, these guys are were, you know, punishing opposing guys. All right quickly. I want to get to these two quarterbacks champion is one of those guys that you say is he a first ballot guy and was he all that much better than tie law. I mean their career interception totals are almost identical tight law obviously three Super Bowl championships with the New England Patriots. Can you say that champ? Bailey was so much better. Than Ty law that he's a first ballot guy and Tyler has to wait another year..

"This Saturday. So if you're thinking about maybe making a wager on Super Bowl, fifty three better get on a quick for this Kerry. What's the show right after New England beat Kansas City? The opening line on the game. The immediate line on the game was RAMSAR point favorite. Within seventeen minutes. Seventeen minutes of a line opening as the Rams is a point favored New England was a two and a half point favorite in seventeen minutes. You know, it's money has to go down on team to flip the line four points in seventeen minutes. The line is now moved up to three and a half points. And according to the Mirage. Ninety six percent of the money that has been wagered on the Super Bowl based on the point spread is on New England. Ninety six percent of the money wagered on the point spread. Is our New England. And that line is going up up up. Now, here's here's the thing that I really have to take a look at when you look up up of these two teams. A lot can be made about experience. But there has never been a Super Bowl ever. Not even close to compare the Super Bowl of experience of one team versus another team. Tom Brady alone is played in eighth Super Bowls. He has played an eight Super Bowls. And remember this is New England's third straight Super Bowl and therefore Super Bowl in the last five years. But if we just use Brady's eight Super Bowls, right? The entire ram roster combined has played in five C J. C J Anderson is played in to keep to leave. A key to league is played in one Brandin cooks played in one. Yup. And Sam shields with Green Bay. Yeah. That's it. Now, I know you didn't get to a Super Bowl. You came close. Am close. But there there are I'll put it this way. I have covered. Well, technically twenty-six Super Bowls half. Thank god. I won't be going Atlanta this year. Yeah. And I'll I'll tell you. Why? Here. Here's what happens. So you get down to Super Bowl week. And if you never been there before as a player. Yeah. That circus day that has been tempered a little bit. But it's still a circus day. And and that first day is sort of exciting. You know, it's like, hey, you know, we all these people, and it's. Yeah. So that first day is sort of cool because you really get the feel at haywar here at the Super Bowl. Right. But that's not the end of it. The real killer for these players comes on Wednesday and Thursday. That's one they have to show up for mandatory media media gatherings at their team hotel right now, I've attended those for many many many many years if you ever want to get a player that actually is in the game. You can't just sit on radio radio. Rony gonna do your crap. I mean, that's just a waste of time on radio row. You got to get on the buses early in the morning and bus out to the team hotel, and they set up the players, right? And they grudgingly sit there and answer question after question after question, and they have to do two days in a row, so all of this extracurricular stuff's going on. And then you get the game day. Mhm pre-game is extended and a half time is endless super extended. Yep. So all of this is new to a lot of teams, and it will affect somebody, especially if you've ever been through before because there is no experience ever in your career, but they will match a Super Bowl. England. Yeah. You know, I wonder what the records are presumed that are there for the first time is it is like a monumental change. I know it it it doesn't. I mean, there have been teams that haven't had a lot of experience of being teas, but there's never been a Super Bowl close to this. Right. I mean New England again is in their third straight Super Bowl fourth of the last five years, which is just ridiculous. I mean, New England this is the first time ever that New England is played in three straight Super Bowls have to be honest. I was actually I was actively rooting against him just because of them being for being there so often, right? I mean, I actually feel bad about it. Because why why don't we why don't why don't we want to see a dynasty like that something that's probably never going to happen. Again. Why don't we want to see them in it and be successful? And. And have I think the majority of people wanted to see candidacy city win. Kennedy depends. But just because they're plan the patriots. I'll tell you who really wanted to see the cheese and the saints. Take a brokers. This was the worst possible scenario for a Super Bowl matchup. Why? Well, New England they don't sell super Super Bowl tickets. They're they're done with that. Right. And the Rams are on the other side of the country are going to have a ton of people out of LA making the long trip to Atlanta, which by the way, it's going to be cold and wet cold wet and crowded and crowded last place, you want to be meanwhile, you had a perfect scenario. Said's Jeeves Kansas City and saints fans there in the middle of the country Atlanta's right there. Ticket prices for the Super Bowl are the lowest. They've been in years last year. The tickets are going for about six grand each. Yeah. They're down to four grand this year. Really? And it's going to go down from this point on. So there were a lot of people that thought this is the worst possible scenario for a Super Bowl matchup. You know, talking about New England and their dynasty. Yeah. It does. Raise a good question though. New England has done something that has never been done in the history of the NFL in that they have dominated two decades. You know, we have the bears in the forties of brands in the fifties. The Packers and the sixty the Steelers in the seventies. We had the forty Niners in the eighties where the Cowboys in the nineties, right? It is who straight decades now for New England. Yeah. So your perspective. Carey is a former player and as an NFL fan. Has New England's dominance over the last two decades been a plus or minus for the NFL. It's the hunt is one hundred percent in the minds because you sell this league, fills and it actually. Every year. They still this every year it is on entity every year. So I ain't different every every team has a chance every year. Like, you said that that's what they sell. That's what they sell you as as the consumer as outside personnel out the league. Like, you gotta tune in because anybody can win this league. And for the most part that's true for every other every other pro the NFC AFC, you know, the new is going to be there. And I think that's it's it actually it it hurts the game. But also from an individual teams, then point where we'll just talk about New England and the greatness, I think we also need to appreciate that too. Because like I said, we're not going to see that and probably never going to happen again this degree so you can take two different ways. But me personally, I think is the negative. Well. But it's good to have a villain is an end up. It is and the Wayland is definitely a Bill, right? Because Earl still a lot of people that say they have won a single legitimate championship. Yeah. I mean you've been caught cheating twice. So what's this and going back even their early Super Bowl wins? I remember the Carolina Panthers. They still have a lot of questions about what happened in that game. A lot of questions the eagles have questions about their loss. Rams have quest every single team. They played things have happened during the course of the game. Like what happened there? What what exactly are they doing? Right. And then, you know, the they show the before and actors Tom Brady, what's this training regimen. He's got going on right? Who is this guy? Who is this mystery guy bend? Nobody else knows about that. Nobody knows about that. You know, first of all he was not going to travel with the patriots. But now he's back on the team. What's going on here? Yeah. But they are the villain. And I I'm I'm not so sure I think what's going to happen when New England when this is finally over whenever it is five years from now. I mean, if we're sitting here five years from now and forty six year old Tom Brady is still in the Super Bowl. I mean, I don't know what to say about that. But whenever this does in. I think in retrospect, people are going to look back and say, you know, I sort of missed that having that evil empire involved seemingly every single year in the Super Bowl. Very interesting to see what the ratings will be for the Super Bowl again LA. We talked about this entire time. Yeah. The LA market is still not one hundred percent in on the NFL. We don't know get the Rams being there is actually going to change that dynamic even the Rams have admitted. Yeah. That they they were hoping maybe this would you know, sort of move along quicker. But all right. Well, we'll get much more into this. Plus another rule change. I want to get to and Alex Martinez is gonna join us on the other side. But right now, let's find out. What is trending Friday's here. Hombre? Hey, guys, what's going on? Let's go full court press was some college basketball and Duke was tested early. They survey defense register..
