"Secret project that 90s show centers on parents red and kitty, but this time they're spending the summer with their granddaughter, played by newcomer Kelly hiberna. Cali shared this photo on Instagram of the final day of filming. Um. Ah, may be. And check out this funky fez flashback. Wilmer Valderrama slipped on his favorite costume for the return, and guess what? 16 years later, it still fits. Batman has not changed. Wow, that's amazing. He has not aged. Well, you know what? I won't age either because it's so cold in here. I'm gonna get preserved. If you're like, you're cryotherapy right now. You're Walt Disney. I'm in a fur, honey. I'm like sitting here in a fur. Speaking of reboots, rumor has it, your favorite 90s TV lawyer, Alec mcbeal, is coming back. Allegedly, the sequel sequel. He was at you together. It's a cold. Sequel. Is it reportedly in early development and will follow a lawyer who's a daughter of ally's roommate Renee? Calissa flockhart has apparently been approached to reprise her role in executive produce. This would be legendary. I love. But if we're getting ally make Bill back. Can you just throw him mad about you? Just for the hell of it? And silk stockings. Yeah, okay. Oh, wow. You gonna pull it out some good ones. You probably ever know it's so exciting. I didn't want to participate in that conversation because I felt like I was going to get made fun of for my race or my world. In some sort of way today, so bad about you, I know though, that we'll take one of one. Anybody remember silk stockings in here? What is silk stocking? Oh, it's like an old nighttime. So it was so good. Like 90s soap. Yeah. But if you can reboot anything, what would you reboot? I mean, I can't reboot Seinfeld 'cause that was just too perfect at the time. I mean, ally mcbeal would be choice, I would love to do. Secret world of Alex Mack. Oh, now you're just hitting all the 90s flavors. Have you given it to you right now? Oh my God, when she went into that little gold puddle. Absolutely I would redo that. What about you? I'll be your shorts. But you can't. How do you reboot if the whole cast is dead? You do it from the roommate's daughter, a whole thing. Cut out. You can't reboot the last supper girl. I was like, The Golden Girls. But what do you do? Is all their kids? Like, how do you do that? And by the way, you can't reboot that. That's one of the things that you can not

"Real quick on Frank Gore who, by the way, 9 thousand yard receive 9000 yard rushing seasons, which is the 5th most all time, but the most since 2000 and obviously we know the game changed a lot in the early 2000s. So I think that is significant. And he came into the league in 2005, really started playing in 2006. I hate the idea that for the most part, I think using durability as a Hall of Fame qualifier needs to go on as a little off, but I think at that position you look at running backs, how many running backs play 8 years in the world. And he came in the league was injuries too. Remember. And a lot of people thought that he would not play more than four or 5 years and he ended up making it this long. And he played 16. So average exactly a thousand yards season. So at running back to play that long, third all time in rushing yards, I'd put him in. I think he belongs in. Yeah, I think he'll ultimately get in really quickly. Alex Mack, the center with the forty-niners now, right? And was with the falcons and Super Bowl 51 played Super Bowl 51 for Atlanta with a broken fibula. That's a football guy. He was a football guy through and through really, really good athlete. One of the better athletes at the center position in his prime was kind of like Alex Mack, Jason Kelsey with the eagles. Those are the two guys that could really run at that position. Really good player. Alex Mack, he retires as well. Big loss for the forty-niners. He was kind of a pivot guy as obviously at that center position for that offensive line. That's going to be some big shoes to fill, but those are the three retirements today. Indiana felt kind of retirement day around the league was Mac fits gore hanging them up in the NFL and glad we got to discuss those guys a little bit and reminisce about their careers. Even Ryan Fitzpatrick, who I think is right. I was going to make you do a Ryan Fitzpatrick segment one way or the other. I'll say this. So the browns in 2009 when they drafted Alex Mack. And this is kind of heading into really some dark times to the Cleveland Browns. They had four picks in the top 52. They took Alex Mack in the first round, then three second round picks. Brian RuBisCO, Muhammad massaquoi, David vacuum. So if not for Alex Mack, you're talking about an all time draft miss in that class. And then even the year before, they didn't have any top 100 picks the year before. Two years before they took Brady Quinn 22nd overall. Yes, so Alex Mack, good rare draft hit for the Cleveland Browns. Great offensive lineman, great group of guys there retiring today..

"Bet online where the game starts. So Cole strange. In favor of the player, I think it'll be an immediate starter. We'll probably play a long time in this league. I actually watching him, I think he's gonna be a better center where, you know, he was mostly a guard in college at the senior bowl, he basically played all center. I think, you know, I don't really want to say this, but I'll just say, I think he has a chance to be a phenomenal all time center. Like once Andrews is done, we don't know how long Andrews is lasting. He has the quickness, the stoutness, the ability to get to the second level like elite traits. He reminds me when I watched him on film, he reminds me of Alex Mack, who has been a long time great center in this league, I think he's a really good player. I just, I would not have taken a guard slash center in the first round. We've talked about the reasons why I just don't see the value in that. And this in today's NFL. Ten years ago, yeah, maybe with a team that was on the precipice of winning a Super Bowl and really needed a good interior offensive lineman. Okay, maybe. Not with this team, not where they are right now. It is interesting, interior offensive lineman went earlier than I thought in the first round. Across the board. Can you watch 15th or no, the 15th, I think, to Houston. And Johnson went early. So some of those guys, they went earlier than I thought. So strange kind of went along with that, which makes you wonder if there were a handful of teams who were hot on guards. And again, it made some of those teams draft guys a little bit earlier than they really wanted to. And maybe they knew, hey, look, there's really four or 5 top notch guards in this draft. So if I want one, I'll take one. Again, I don't agree with drafting in the first round of guard. But that's what you've got. I will add this. Mike giardi had a note this week. And he said he reported that from what.

"Is something we're going to be dealing with a little bit but we know the shanahan's early running that offenses it is anyway. They bring in center. Alex mack which can only help. He's on the wrong side of thirty when it comes to your career and all that but again one of the better centers perennially in the nfl year in and year out. They also drafted another offensive guard with their second round. Pick as well. They added trae sermon at the running back position in the third round. Who i think is actually gonna end up making a pretty decent impact over the course of the season. This is one of my favorite teams are legs of the week. If you don't know what a teaser is. You're able to manipulate the line by six points. Typically we're trying to take a seven and a half and eight or an eight and a half down through the key number of seven and through the key number of three or take an underdog of a point and a half two points or two and a half points up through the field goal and the touchdown as underdogs so those are the typical kind of basic strategy. Type things here for that. San francisco favored by seven. And a half and this. When i'm taking it down to a point and a half on parented up with a game that will talk about a little bit later in the rams really really love this leg getting this thing under a field goal so feel really really really confident and good about that. If the forty niners lose this game till the first this first game of the season to the lions then this season is going off the rails as it is anyway. Brad i know you also have a bet on the forty niners in lions Yeah i mean all broadly agree. I think the forty nine is legitimate super bowl contenders the banged up. Like you wouldn't believe last year but the roster elite. The coaching is elite. And yet if they stay healthy they'll be there at the end but with the under here and it basically wasn't huge pay bills basically on how the lines wants to play. I was listening beat reporter made from the athletic and he was he was saying about training camp and preseason news saying they want to kind of run a throwback offense which is run run. Run the occasional shot play and he said but there's no shop place by throwing deep so it's run run run right now. The strength of this team was meant to be offensive. Line drafted penny soule in the first round. They flipped over to right tackle. And the reports are the. He's not playing well at all the aid and play football for a year last year. Be left tackle. Needs these really struggling to make the switch will now. You've got joey bosa in your face so good lower. That it's not like jared goff is is famous for doing anything at all under pressure. I mean i think the drop off from him is going to be monumental. This year model is rookie season in two thousand sixteen before mcvay go hold of him when he was probably a bottom two quarterback in the nfl. So i'll i'll could see loans scoring vitually ten seven points and then the phone is i think if they get if they get lead the little jimmy garoppolo throwing over you you think about it. There have to run the ball just growing the game out. That's kind of what shanahan wants to do is pound you into dust. So i'm calling to come forward to this lawrence team that about eighteen kneecaps season just ground into dust by false superior author and found superior coach steven. This isn't one that you have a play on. But i know that you are a forty niners fan the That this was a team..

Richie Rich and crew Howard thing, then what's what's going on, then? I have my division pick winners and mild Super Bowl for you, sir. You have the floor. First we're gonna start with a F C No, stop there. See East I have bills to a F C west. I have the charges when in the Oh my goodness, Bill. Okay? Yeah, I believe that trapdoor you like to speak of which are just I believe the charges are going to close the trapdoor this year for them. Okay, But I have seen North. I have the Browns for the R C south. I have the types Moving to the NFC from the East. I have my New York football giants. NFC West. I like the Rams, you know, See North. I think the Packers are the only ones they're going to make the playoffs in their division and for the South. I just think the Buccaneers have too much firepower. As for the Super Bowl matchup that I see happening in Los Angeles issue one team played in the last year. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I think they will be back in it again and representing a F C. Have the Cleveland Blank. Oh, my gosh. You heard it right. I think we will see a Super Bowl party in Cleveland, Ohio, to the last We have members. Thing. All right, Ben, Thanks for the call. Thanks to call Ben Callback. Callback. Love it when Ben calls in. Wow. Hey, man. Um, I think the charge is gonna have a great year. But the Chiefs are Spectacular team top to bottom, where the MVP of the league in my estimation, uh and Patrick Mahomes, so I think he's going to be the M V P of 2021. As I said last night. Um we'll talk more about it with our predictions on tomorrow's show. We going to do the NFC West later on in advance of predicting the NFC West? The team that I hear from so many players? I mean and so many, um Um Observers, coaches and some players. Whenever I talk to him. They all love their own teams. Let's be honest. Oh, hey, all love their own teams. Uh, but the team and I hear about the roster being so deep There's the 40 Niners. Hmm. Clearly they've got depth at the quarterback position. A running back. Right? Mostert sermon. Back to back right there. Debo, Are you CSI? New Junior as soon as your senior? Pardon me. Um Kittel used check. Their line is spectacular. Spectacular line. With Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey on the outside. Alex Mack, your center. Spectacular defensively boasted, coming back just makes it even more deeper. They have a deep, deep roster. Last year, they had to use every last one of them. Just alone that you figure they're not going to be is injured. And they're also not going to be kicked out of their home, right? That alone should give him a couple of games. Can't wait to see what Lance looks like. I mean, that's totally Mystery unwrapped in one preseason game that's about it. And while we're on the subject of what, uh, in reports said about the Titans, just think about that, too. No, they're tight end they got you know John Smith's now in New England, which nobody's talking about. Nobody. Let's keep it that way, along with Hunter Henry, too, right? Nobody's talking about the two tight ends back in New England. Nobody Mhm. So But Tennessee it's just if Julio Jones is the guy That's a J. Brown on the other side, and then you've got to figure out what's going on outside. The numbers. You've got to focus so hard on what's going on outside the numbers with a mobile quarterback who can get out. From the rush and make that throw And then Derrick Henry is the guy that could be between the tackles. If you're so focused out why Holy crap. That's significant. Just a couple of roster. Conversations and what can happen. Everybody's Oh, no right now. Everybody's going on. I love it. You think Derrick Henry could really get 2000 this year again? Yeah. Break the record in 16 games, too. Why wouldn't he? Because he just had. Why not? It had seen amount of carries a lot of carries. Historically, that does not Compute. He does not compute. No, that's that's a good point. That's a real good point. But a great 0.0.0.378 carries last year correct. And normally that does not compute. The next year. There will be a diminishing return. But the last word I've ever heard. Associated with Derrick Henry. Is the word diminishing. He is the diminish, er. He's the one who does the diminishing Punisher man that they like that Rich Eisen. He's the Diminish er. That's the difference. Don't look at him and say Yeah, that's a diminishing return coming. I look at him and say that is somebody I don't normally see running the ball here. I look at him and say that's a business decision every square inch of that man who diminishes everyone who tries to take him down. That's what I say. Obviously, injuries can take anybody out. He's still a human being, but no way I don't I don't. I definitely think Eric Dickerson, wherever he is right now is like Preparing the asterisk talk, but guys, you come. I'm serious like he's. He's preparing whatever speech he's going to say around January 2nd the Yeah, but speech from Eric Dickerson's common But with the addition of Julio Jones, why would the text the Titans excuse me even need to run the ball that because that's what that because that's the way it works there, and Julio Jones is not going to be a guy who's going to come up with 12 catches a game. You know what I mean? Like he may have a couple of games like that he could the other kids that one The other guys, that one, the one who is putting on all the tiktok videos out with the blue masking tape. You know, A J. Brown is the guy who's who can suddenly become the one Julio is like. Yeah, I'm I'm just I'm just a guy here in Tennessee is just trying to get his catches. I don't think that's what if he's the number two. You think you think he wants to still be the number one? That's great. That's great. I think I think they'll all figure it out. I don't think it'll be a problem. That's the great thing do they need? They give Derrick Henry that many of the ride when you have a J. And now you do have so what do you get Three and 15. Look, man, the last time back had this many carries. DeMarco Murray 2014 had 3 92. The next year went to Philadelphia only at 193 DeMarco more. I mean, we're really I mean, I'm just saying in term terms of workload Okay in terms of body and build. You know, nobody looks like Eric Henry. Yeah, right. Like the predator, Right? Right, right. Right. And their first names start with the same first two letters outside of that. I think it's all different. Yeah, that's the difference. I didn't see any DeMarco Murray videos of him. Do and you know, elastic band and push up push ups with a ball and chains and whatever. Come on, man. Different ball of wax. I'm so fired up to see what he's looking like, and also fired up to give a kid 1000 bucks from college football, not expecting it. Cannot wait to announce the first gorilla glue. "Was a huge eye opener coming from middle of nowhere. Michigan coming on to the Bay Area. And realizing that the real estate prices don't exactly match up. Does not see anything I could to try to help these guys out. Amazing. We had Trey Lance on just a few minutes after he got drafted and John draft that nugget. You're told you're no longer in Fargo or Marshall, Minnesota. Welcome to the Bay Area. Alright. I think one of the greatest things you've done and you had a great career, You know all decades performer, the tens of left tackle. But right to the very end of your career, it shows who you are as a person that you kept your retirement quiet, so the 40 Niners could facilitate the Trent Williams acquisition. So you've seen him play for a year? I saw you jumping right in there with Chris. First er in the offensive linemen, you know, bringing in Alex Mack now to me, either solid as hail from left tackle, right tackle, But talk about, you know, trend. Following your great legacy at left tackle. And what do you see from this offensive line job? Yeah. Like you said. I think Trent Williams going into the year last year, taking that year off, I think for him to come out and just completely solidify that left tackle position with huge not only for the team, but also for him. You know, I think talking to him a little bit in L. A He had a little bit of not anxiety, but you know this uncertainty about that year off and how are we going to perform the the same person that he had been the whole career? And I think you saw last year he's still a lot top left tackle in the league. I think what makes him so special is not only the size and strength but also athleticism. It's incredibly rare and as a player watching him when we were competing at the same time, it was almost frustrating to watch the things that he was able to do on film and I could take a ton from her game because Would be honest with myself and say, I just can't do that Physically. He's so physically talented, but Getting to spend some time with them in L A was really cool because I saw how his mind works, and it was really one of the first times I've been around them and our careers together. And he's very technical, and he definitely has a purpose of the plan going into every single game and We realize that we think about the game of football similarly and how we attacked players and Russia's and the things that we think about. That was really cool to see because I was forever the stock man. This guy just had his ability game of football will be so easy, but he really does spend a lot of time and in consideration of how he practices and performs on game day. Then, like you said with a 400 on the line. I think a huge edition is Alex Mack. Um, I think last year we saw a little bit that center positions so key as far as setting the table for the offense, especially in their zone scheme and getting different calls out. In points. It's very point specific of who the guys are going to and having a veteran guy like Alex to understand defenses and also piles offense. Going to be huge, because sometimes those Those different communications have to happen right before the snap, and so having a guy with the knowledge base that he has going to be huge, especially in trade, it's in there as well. Joe Stanley's notice He's going to do it weekly throughout the seasonings with NBC Sports area, So you're going to see him a lot on TV as well. A lot of people Joe are making the assumption that the team you were with two years ago you go to the Super Bowl, and every says Well if the 49 ers are healthy. I'm going to go back to the Super Bowl. When you look at this team. There's a lot of guys from your team. But when you look at this team is it as simple as that stay healthy and they'll be back where they were. I think it's too full. I think definitely. There is something to be said about staying out because I do believe this is a really loaded roster. I think they have more weapons and more depth, especially at the quarterback position. You saw that being an Achilles heel for The time that Jimmy has been with the team. It's there once he went down and kind of derailed the whole entire offensive team. Um, but I also think, and I knew this as a player. Every single season is a new year and presents new challenges. You know whether it be injuries, obviously, but just the dynamics and the team managing expectations. A lot of stuff that's not just acted the nose but That locker room, But I do believe that they're built for success because they have those veteran leaders. I think Fred Warner going to play a huge role in that this year, you know George going into his fifth year really understanding what it takes to win day in and day out. I think Jimmy being motivated with trade, pushing him in the back. Um there's going to be huge for him because I think he's going to really respond well to that. And then you know, guys like regime and the offensive line. And you know that back end Jimmy War going in the eighth year and disguise that really understand what it takes to practice day in and day out. I think they're really going to be set up for success. But again. Your point. It does come back to staying healthy because I do believe this is a really loaded roster. Tough division. But matters can stay healthy and keep those expectations and the day to day focus. I think they're going to be set up for a really nice season. And show the the injuries last year started right away. I can see Buddha Baker playing a hit on George Kittle on the high throw from Jimmy right on the knee and he goes out and then you win. You lose that game. You go to New York the next week and just early in the game. The card comes out. You know, in a three place sequence you use you lose Solomon Thomas second, but Nick both of first and I I want to ask you about Nick, because obviously you block some of the best edge rushers in the history of football, whether it's von Miller in a game or, you know, scrimmaging with those guys and you know Aldon Smith, obviously and in practice Where does where does Nick Bosa rank? And how long did it take you going back to his first training camp in 2019 to realize this guy is pretty special. It took me one practice to practice against Nick to realize that he was really special. Um, that was the thing about Nick. And I think that's the thing that differentiates him from all the other players that you have mentioned is Was really surprised how fast he was able to Become the player that he is, um he came in. Usually there's a transition period from for guys coming out of college into the NFL game. Understanding of speed and How to play certain blocks and Lot of times at college players rely more on like athleticism and, um, then technique, but he came in super polished and just ready, and he's so physically gifted as far as his power. And he has enough speed to beat you around the edge. But also his moves is what makes him really special. He understand the actual art of pass rushing..

"Enough to join us? Have you gotten the chance to watch closely either Justin Fields or Mac Jones during the preseason? If so, your thoughts on how they perform the quarterbacks to the Niners passed on to get to Trey Lance. Yeah, I think Mac Jones has been almost impeccable. I don't think that's even. I mean, it's a little bit of a surprise. Just because any rookie looking at poised is always, you know, pretty impressive. But it's also like Jones was and I know some people disagree with this. But he was very, very like NFL ready in terms of his skill sets, just like a pretty smart, reliable, drop back passer who will do what the scheme asked him to do and do it pretty reliably, and that's why I like it wasn't going to be Bad pick at 40. Niners took him at 12, but in terms of like huge upside in terms of physical athletic ability, he's going to be like he's going to be limited where he has to develop is, you know Mentally in terms of like Tom Brady. And just being able to say pre snap, Okay, Here's exactly the defense is going to do. And maybe he does that, and he makes us all look like idiot and as far as Justin Field goes Thought the 49 ers. We're going to draft him for a while, until the end. I still think he's probably the best quarterback in this draft and I get why Cal Shanahan didn't do it because you know the thing about field this. He's so talented, but he's a little deliberate. It's not as quick as Lance. It takes him a little bit of time to drop back and really survey the field. He's a little bit more deliberate and patient as a pastor. And so he's a guy where you must build the offense around him. Where's Cal? Stranahan has its own scheme that's dominant. And so he was looking for a guy that Doesn't just been into his scheme has some skill set outside of that, but a guy that can come in right away and do exactly what he asked with the right timing, and I think that's why he went with Lance. But Both fields and Matt Jones. They look, they look pretty damn good. So far, Jakey kicked off this segment by mentioning that you are an optimist. And so with that in mind, I want to get your thoughts on this one last question. If the 40 Niners don't end up winning the division if they failed to meet expectations if they underwhelmed this year outside of injuries, what has the potential to be their biggest downfall? Uh, I'd say offensive line. Uh, what happens is you got Daniel Brunskill right guard? Um, and he's basically the glue for the entire offensive line right now. Jalen Moore was okay. Uh, you have some sort of optimism about him. But you know, Alex Mack is what is a 35. Now he had some moments where he kind of got bullied. You have a little bit of a concern there, either One of those I know you said, not injuries. But if either one of those guys goes down, you know Erin Bank has not played basically at all. He was out with his shoulder injury. Jalen Moore is still a rookie didn't look totally comfortable tackle and then your other guys are Jake Brendel, who's a senator who got bullied a lot earlier in camp and then Tom Compton, who is 32. I guess they just kept him on the roster says he's a veteran, but, yeah, I mean, offensive lined up is never exciting. Um, so I'd say you got a little bit of a concern there, especially when you're Sort of counting on Brunskill to be the glue everywhere. Hey, I love talking backup offensive lineman. And you know the decision to let Colton McKevitt slip through the waiver wire. I mean, that caught my eye right away, Jake. So thank you So much for your thoughts here on Sunday morning. We appreciate it. And next Sunday, we know you'll be working long hours for the many fall and winter months ahead. So thank you so much for giving us some of your time, sir. I appreciate you had me on buddy. All right. He is Jake Hutchinson knbr dot com Talk in San Francisco 49 years has done a great job on the 40. Niners beat over the last few seasons. And it really does intrigue me the idea of the 40 Niners in his mind being NFC West favorites or at least having an opportunity to win this division, which is stacked. You've got three teams who could also finish above 500, the Seahawks, Rams and the Cardinals. I think that the Rams getting Matt Stafford could be a game changer. I'm fascinated to see What he looks like with the change of scenery. I've long been one of his biggest fans in Detroit and getting him out of that mess and into a system with Sean McVeigh. A bright offensive mind could be huge in terms of determining this NFC West race. But I am so intrigued by the possibility of the 40 Niners going deep into the season, running a two quarterback offense because the old adage everyone's heard it. You got two quarterbacks. In reality, you got no quarterbacks and the 40 Niners traded up to number three, giving up multiple first round draft picks for years to come. Whether you call it two picks, whether you call it three picks doesn't matter. They gave up several first round draft picks to go and get trail and to make him their guy. I just can't envision a scenario where the 49 ers would feel confident or satisfied or They'd be living up to or exceeding expectations where they're still mixing Jimmy Garoppolo into this quarterback situation. Weeks 14 15 16 17 18. It just doesn't add up to me unless tray. Lance's development is really slow or unless there's another injury at play. I just think Look, I'm a huge fan. I've said it several times of dual threat quarterbacks. I think that the game has changed. Tom Brady for as good as he is, he's unique. He's one of a kind you can succeed. And Tom Brady style because you either think like Tom Brady, you throw like Tom Brady, you process like Tom Brady. But in reality no one in the NFL can live up to that anymore. So you need a passer whose multidimensional like Patrick Mahomes, who can extend to play like a Josh Allen and what we've seen from him in Buffalo, and it wouldn't shock me if Trey Lance's development was very similar to that of Josh Allen in Buffalo, where the first few years Coming out of Wyoming. Josh Allen wasn't great, but then we really started to see him come into his own..

"He was a reckless you know, just is he had more to to do as far as coaching him up with my cats, Kavika and Nagy and obviously Andy and all the great coaches. They had their he may not as man is ready to play. Although I remember seeing camp voted that year and being Whoa, Who was 15? Is that my homes? My God. And but he's not like Justin Herbert back then. So a little bit of that, and Alex just did not turn the ball over. He threw for over 4000 yards that year and had five interceptions versus 26 touchdown passes. He did not throw the ball away as the one thing Alex Smith can get on him about outside the numbers and the arm strength and all that. But he had the spread down his hand work in his footwork and handoffs. And you know the Jets sweep and all that stuff they were doing. That's the biggest thing I had with my home. She had. Mahomes is a great arm, and can he handle all the dexterity? Of the under center and even shotgun when you got, you know, Tyreek, the street coming up and he hits the left guard and you gotta spin around under center hand the ball. It was like, Wow, How do they do that and not fumble? Mahomes did it right away. He's just, you know, he's incredibly as a shortstop. So he Mahomes is that skilled? But I hear what you're saying, Um The way Coach Nagy phrased it in Chicago with Justin Fields. Was an interesting way phrase that, he said. This is Justin's job to learn. Meaning he doesn't know the offense yet. And I think that's why you're seeing a lot of hit back foot. He has no idea to go at the wall, and it's a faster game. Ohio State's great football This is the Chicago Bears the NFL so he doesn't know to go with the ball, and then he just runs it. So the way he phrased it was it's his job to learn. He's got to learn how to play in this offense. It's complicated. I think the way the way you just said it. I think I think this is Jimmy's job to lose is the way I would I would look at it. I think there will be things that Jimmy does. That frustrates the head coach. And he'll make a change and that may not be going into a game. I think it's much more likely it will be in the middle. At some point in a game. You know when he would I think he was tempted to do that with the other backups, but they clearly just are not as good. So then you just make it a change to make a change in your mad Now you're making a change to change to change the running game, and he changes the running game more than a passing game. Trey lands it will change the passing game. We'll open it up the width of the field the depth of the field, But I'll open up that box and we're playing for real. And the quarterbacks live in the run game, and he keeps one of those. How are you gonna play it now? You want to play an eight man? You don't have an eight man box. You gotta have 1/9 guy in there. How are you going to cover these guys? One on one. Are you going to do that? So it opens it up, So I think there's a point like when they traded up and made the whole move. There are things that Jimmy does that I think frustrates him. And when he does one of those things, or many of those things in a game, and they're they're they're, you know, throwing out pond interception fumble. This does not functioning well. Then, then I think he will make the change at that point, so I think it's more. This is Jimmy's jobs to lose. Uh, so, but Jimmy's got to agree with you. I think he's got to play a little sharper. He was fine. The first game. It wasn't long enough. Charlie Warner took the O P. I But the last game and you look back on it. There was a 15 play drive, but, uh, there was some throws. You probably went back in that game, and even before the interception Just in the preseason. They're not throwing a lot at you, and you should be able to complete easy passes and make it if you're a veteran, and you've done this plenty of times before, and and Jimmy just doesn't look like that and again. If he gets a full corner knows he's going to be in there can get himself into a rhythm. Then maybe Jimmy Garoppolo will be fine. He just had the one Dr. Albeit it was 15 plays, and then, like you said he was out before even knew in the first game, so we'll see. But as you pointed out, I think that there's two things Kyle CNN has talked about this from day one at every position, especially offensively. He knows how much each play is supposed to get. He knows where the ball is supposed to be. He knows all the intricacies of it, and he often talks about maximizing a place. So if Jimmy's not maximizing place, and he's not And that's gonna be an issue And like you said, the one thing that I've never understood because we always were told so much about how accurate Jimmy was coming over from The Patriots is he'll always throw that inexplicable interception where you go. He didn't see that guy like the Kendricks in the playoff game against Minnesota. You're just sitting there, So you know if he does enough of those, and then isn't maximizing place, I think that's when Trey Lance is going to come into the game. But maybe I mean, it's a little naive to think the young guys mechanism to make those mistakes as well. She will. But I think you know this would be more like a seventies game. It depends how you want to win. You know, you get boasted Ford back, Andy. Every once in a while, looks like 55 coming off the edge like the old like 2019. He does, And then you got so much depth on that d line. If they can't make first downs here. You can just run the ball right through everybody like they did before, And this is going to be you know, you've got Alex Mack. Now at center. McGlinchey is just so much bigger. He is mall and guys in the run game. And then, But the other part of it is The quarterback just as a threat to run the ball. Will measurably aid the 49 are running game. It's he's going to make whether or not he carries the ball at all. He is a threat to run it every time and that changes the box..

"The line will suffer. Great now i believe it will suffer as bad because of course we have next will left tackle. Who's done that. Let's be real weather office and entered when you have when he's into the next to the probably top three. Maybe top to tackle in the league. You know you can plug in almost anybody and you going to get a a capable starter out of them. Because they're playing next. Grant williams an ounce but i do believe that leg. Thomasson is the unsung hero of offense delighted. I would obviously look and say you'll get if there was any offensive linemen that i'd give a jersey of right now. Somebody came to music. How give you offense jersey right. now i'll get like a thomason overturn. Worry i honestly would. I think that with the number one complaint that we've had of this team has been injuries. You know here we have a man is literally missed. One game was snap is nine or rear and yeah he's not the number one guard in availability like that. The thing we said about you know. Alex mack is hey look i'll take the chance rated guard the nfl. It'll give me be there. Snap after snap guard. It's lead to be there a handful of as though. I definitely think that i do believe with him. Pushing his age thirty one season. I do believe this is his last night or contract. I don't know if i would give a huge contract. We'll see how jalen brunson hill. Excuse me we'll see how how the other guards that we have on the roster are developing you know towards the end of the season so i might. This might be as lost last contract with last year with the niners. Definitely love me. Some some lakeland thomason jason. Anything you've gotta add on like thomas just like you i love can talk. Plaguing tomlinson is even probably more than.

"And this offensive line has changed a lot. Since the last time we saw you. Bradley gets almost a whole new unit. You know. I think a lot of people got scared. Trent was gonna leave. I think that we were one of the shows that were like leaving wants to be here. Don't worry about it you know yes. Kansas city made their run atom. But hey they failed. And i'm with that. But you know minus him and lake in. There's a lot going on so first. Let's talk about the offensive line as it is constructed right now. The new editions of alex mack. And then hopefully this new mike mcglinchey. We're seeing a lot of the video. Looks like a bigger dude. You know maybe not so much. Concrete sleep Feet mcglinchey has leo. Likes to say and then this guard position. I think is going to be a lot of good competition in in brun skill and not in banks now. I think that it's pretty exciting. If they're going to be able to have a really competing A good chance of of guys competing for that spot in way where you know. I went back and watch the super bowl this weekend. If you're brave soul. And i just noticed you know 'cause i was trying to figure out why people continue to say that emmanuel sanders fault from his path and watch the fourth quarter. Be fair. because i wanted to. I just wanted to see it in. Visualize it in my opinion and there is something to how bad my person wasn't that game and so that's off topic. But he was awful enough so bad. There's another liability in pass protection for a lot of that year. Yeah and i think that you don't realize it just goes how good they were just like doing. Kyle shanahan stuff but you know. Let's talk about you know this offensive line. What do you think now that you know. They've solidified in. Looks like one of the better offensive lines in the league may be one of the best in the division. Yeah i mean honestly starting off with free agency. I was petrified. I was honestly petrified. You know in my heart. I was believing. Trent williams would be back but i also understood. He's after the almighty dollar and the forty niners in certain instances don't necessarily shell out to what the market may say a player as worth. We saw that happen with the forest buckner etc etc. So i was a little nervous. I was and because if an we know we don't have to go deep into it. But if the forty niners in re-signed trent williams the entire draft strategy the entire strategy in free agency changes everything changes absolutely but thankfully kyle shanahan prog morte. John lynch they did everything in their power. To ensure that one trent williams return and was the highest payed left tackle in the nfl. I don't care if it's only by ten thousand dollars but it's a point and they proved it and props to kyle and parague for doing it right that at good for them so what that position being solidified for the next two three years at minimum. We we moved down the list right. Free agency forty niners added. Alex mack at center Coming over from his time with the falcons He's actually been with cow shan. An almost every step of the way was the centre with the browns when kyle was over there So you were getting a guy again. When i was on the show and we we talked a lot about. Hey what were some of the issues with the offensive line back in two thousand twenty and what we talk about. We set center center was a huge issue not just the actual execution of playing the individual role of center. It was the priests keys alignments that were causing issues for the entire offense of line and frankly the entire offensive line unit. And you know. I talked to run skill. This offseason. he owned up to you. Know that was something that he struggled with Learning that position and having that responsibility in a cow shanahan offense that dissenter. You're the quarterback of that offensive line. So you gotta know everything. And so for bron- skill is just a heart is a hard situation. Alex mack comes in and solidifies that center position in my opinion because of the knowledge. And again he's just he's alex mack. He's one of the best centers that has played this game in the last decade. So we're lucky in that regard and then everything else on. We'll just talk about mcglinchey row. Quick because his fifth year option was picked up. He's not going anywhere at least for this. You know next year or so and he got his he paid. And like you said leo. He's gotten a little thicker. Little thicker than a snicker which you know had been some critiques of him by some and i was you know when i talked to mike. I was a bit surprised to see that he did bulk up a little bit So with that whole situation playing out with at least you know. The to book ends trend. Mike and we got the center. I think the guards situation becomes extremely interesting in enticing. Because you look at the contract situation of likened tomlinson. I think a lot of us were in the back of our head expecting him to get extended so that you could push the cap out a little bit again also reward him for. He's a game since the forty niners traded for him from detroit Two thousand seventeen So he's been ironman for us but it wasn't extended the forty niners draft two guards and the two guys that they brought in. Were studs so i think you know. There's a lot of conversation about the the running back competition. Lot of conversation about the quarterback compass competition. I think those guard spots you know more so the right guard. But i think lake in even might be heading into an open camp battle. This year Both guards bronx skill and lake could be heading up the battle against banks and more it's going gonna be. It's going to be a lot of fun as offensive. Line guy myself. I can't wait to watch play out. That was the biggest reason i wanted to have you on. It's because you are an offensive line guy. I don't know anyone better when it comes to the offensive line so with with you know the two guys just mentioned banks and more you know what you him with those guys. Why do you feel like they have a great competition. You know against a guy like lincoln who is as we talked about last time. Lincoln's a lot better than a lot of people think like lincoln is a really good guard in this league. Like really good like you must want every once in a while. But he's a solid guard. And i think brunt scale coming from the af historians amazing like coming from the af Af and being able to come in the nfl and make an immediate impact on me better than mike person is a huge thing too so when you look at these two guards like what are you seeing that you think that there is a competition there. Yeah so i think. I'm a big fan obviously we. We like to celebrate. All of skills. Victories against aaron donald celebrated on our platform on. We call him daddy. Bronx go for a reason. But he's really going to have to put that name to the test inside his own locker room because aaron banks is no joke Aaron banks was a guy when he was drafted live. Do doing the draft show with with jordan elliott splash cousin on twitter And yet they. They made the pick aaron banks that comes across the board and being an offensive line geyer myself. I'm like we took offensive lineman. I was like who what why like because of you know again. The players available all the guys that we've talked about at nine zero you know is going to be a wide receiver three drafted in that slot. But the second you jump into the tape on aaron banks it's instantly apparent. How good he is because you look at. This is the first thing six six three thirty. That's a massive man and you look at zone schemes. You look at zone running schemes Typically the offensive linemen that fit the mold of a zone. Blocker are fast. Quick light-footed nimble not necessarily the big guys. You know kinda like skill..

"He's now making more than the top. Offense paid highest paid offensive lineman david backyard. His contract paying him more than a offensive line's contract has ever been paid for through the entirety of the contract. One hundred thirty eight million. No no offensive. Lineman has ever surpassed that amount within a single single contract. And there's just a lot of things about this contract that's really eye-popping and it shows you that the forty niners had a big party and kind of shoring up trent williams and making sure that he would be on that team of the law in the long run. Yeah it's a it's a it's a tremendous signing again. I'm a little bit side. You know the colts at all cap space. And i wanted curtis curtis samuel and You know one of the top tackles off four to go just to double down on what we do best in. We didn't get either one of them. So maybe these guys are a little bit overpaid Maybe you know as. I think the colts would have gone after some of these guys if they felt like they're worth the money but you know for my own train business. I i think that they both these guys are are really high caliber players. We talked about and You know as far as the lyman you know. This is a huge boost for for san francisco like we talked about last episode. They they really want to establish run a know whether it's with the receivers whether it's with the The the running backs you know the full back they got the fullback sign now There's talks about alex mack. Go in there as well so you know one of our headlines. Alex matt go there. And then you get a williams. You're looking at a really good a line and it's just gonna. It's gonna trickle down to all the players. A lot of people were saying. Once they heard this announcement williams was going to get this monstrous contract. They're thinking while does that. Indicate that the forty niners are gonna try to move on from jimmy garoppolo and get a young bookie quarterback because we all know how important it is for a young quarterback to have a good offensive line. Especially right out. The gate can be really helpful for quarterback. Guess they're starting to develop. And i think personally right now. These are all lumers but there is a chance that hey maybe the forty niners. Maybe that's the thought process behind this signing. Which would is a potential rumor. It's out there as i talked about. Jimmy garoppolo last episode. I don't think that's going to be the case personally. I think they're just trying to help the offensive line because they know they're gonna need it for the future and they know how critical as to win it but some people or or making more out of it than what she is. Do you think the people onto onto something with detroit william signing. i mean. i think it's just like i said i think it's gonna make san francisco completely better as a team and you know jimmy. Garoppolo is their quarterback than i mean..

"How does this make sense. Well the bears have literally never had a great quarterback at least not in the era of color television mcmahon for a year. And you're looking at me. Like i should say that. Rex grossman took them to the super bowl. Like i have this obligation to bring him up just so you could throw out the old nickname which is sexy rexy. Yeah so the the real truth is the bears got to the super bowl in both eighty eighty six and two thousand seven on the power of their defense. You know lot of their running game and they should feel so lucky as to have. Andy dalton. I mean when when the prize out there was russell. Wilson and shawn watson was out there I think that going with fitz is good because he comes places any wins. But you're short of landing. Tom brady or something like that. the bears. You just had to take what they could handle and i don't think that they have collateral Given what. They gave up to get clear. Mac from oakland to really make this type of expenditure. Because you you're robbing peter to pay paul with paul being the seattle sea check ins and the assessors of quarterback russell wilson's contract rights ryan anything on this particular subject with the bears bringing in the red rifle formerly of the bengals and most recently the cowboys. I know that some bears fans i know are really upset Actually one. I know who's a colleague of mine works in sports media out here in san francisco lot of transplants. Now working in the business. And i think she wants to basically surrender her her bare. Stand him so Not people are not happy that are bears. Fans about the direction of franchise been going over the last like i'd say five years. Yeah i'd say with all the chicago teams. There's a little bit of give up in the fan base. There's only so much banned You know the cubs fans are their own element but yeah the bulls win six championships in the nineties. And here we are twenty years later. It's like yeah. What have you done for me lately. there was a long blackout with the blackhawks. We'll see that now that they're not still up to their winning ways. They were in the early twenty tens. You know how much the blackhawks fan base We'll stick together. It seems to be a group that kind of follows the teams that are in season but more so the teams said are successful. I don't even care about the bears. And i was even upset about this. What are they doing so chicago now. Out of the running and houston is good to go with tyrod. Taylor and vegas seems to be loyal to derek carr new orleans. Just side of both jameis. Winston annotate some hill so it would seem russell wilson cap. Go play at any of the spots. He would have accepted a tree to. They're gonna have to make it work out in seattle Well as a local market person to the arizona cardinals is part of the nfc west atmosphere. And i think that it would be the biggest favor that seattle ever did To ship russell wilson out He made a limited list of places that he would be traded to if he were asking for a trade which you know he wanted made clear for the record that he was not looking to get out but the four places that he could go. It seems like they have their planet quarterback and it doesn't mean going all ed and you'll be new orleans something at the last minute even with these guys under contract Your i look at it as seattle's best situation is that there's no place to send him in. He comes back off the twenty twenty one season. I just feel like it'd be me coming home and you having a bunch of house stuff out be like. Oh we're moving and you'd be like oh. I love this house. Like why are you looking at other houses. Just because i can just been of whatever though workout ryan. You're in that San francisco forty niners market Russell wilson leaving seattle probably would have been a big favor to a lot of those Down there in santa clara. Yeah it seems to be. I mean it. It remains to be seen what's What's going to come of that but I mean so it has. He's he's just declared it's free agency has and well. I'm trying to keep track of what's going on with him. After hearing shawn watson news you know he's under contract there. He just signed an extension like two years ago so Which made him. I believe at the time. The highest paid quarterback in all football. But that's been superseded by more recently signed contracts Yeah he's He's not going anywhere. He's i bet you just can't get anything that's worth the value that he brings to that football team. Why don't we move away from football your spouse over to basketball here but Because you know we don't hear about the drama enough He has now. Invested in fenway sports group so he owns the red sox. Now sort of my question is what does he do with yankees indians Cubs marlins dodgers That's at hats that we've seen him wear kind of sporadically over the last twenty years. Well we famously saw him walk into the yellow stadium next store to where he played his home games for the cavaliers in two thousand seven while the were playing the yankees at. He sat right behind home plate at flaunted his yankees though he grew up forty miles. South of cleveland He was a lifelong cowboys yankees fan. So i don't think that he's going to have any problem and the boston bandwagon. Except for There's no bandwagon for the red sox at the moment. There isn't snow right. You wanna talk about the drummer. Can we move on I saw that. Yeah that that that. That was the big news today at beating. The warriors like you said was the fact that he's part of that ownership group now I would imagine he's gonna just not wear any hat unless he were. The boston had just more any hats. You know what i mean. It'll just have to be neutral about his family now. The red sox ownership nike pays enough to where they're Swag that he doesn't have to wear any team from what i'm reading. This fenway sports group is going to try to buy franchises. Across all sports. It'd become this Super ownership group The whole sports world there so You know craziness. There wanted to mention Well actually we got. We got time for another question. John yeah so one day alexander chin ties a root phil esposito. A day later he passes the legend stands alone as the six all time in goals. So this guy. Getting the credit he do. The youngsters are grabbing the headlines. The austin mathews account david. So jack eichel's nathan mackinnon ends By ovechkin a champion. He's been recognized as one of the best players in the league If he were born in the united states or canada he would be the face of the nhl. By yeah i i. I think that he's been giving credit where it's due. Yeah i think so too. I mean he's just that he's i think he's played in an era when You know they didn't have the television coverage they're supposed to get back with the spn and maybe that has something to do with popularity. I mean amongst hockey fans. People people know who alex ovechkin is. I just think that. Unfortunately he's still somewhat overlooked by sidney crosby and connor mcdavid like you said they're right One more all right so we can squeeze it in there. "Yeah, so it's going to be a tricky calculation. I remember talking to common policy just a few months ago about the 94 40 Niners, who, at one point had, I think $182 of salary cap space, And somehow he was able to string together the most decorated free agent class of all time, And he said that that they were dancing through raindrops was the way that Common policy term did in the 40 Niners will be doing some dancing through rain drops again this offseason if your ownership is willing to pay money up front in the form of a signing bonus. You can. You could do some maneuvering around the salary cap it it all comes down to the willingness of ownership to pay money now, so if they do restructure Jimmy Garoppolo is contract That means that they convert However much of his base salary they need to convert from 2021 into. You know, a one time check at one time bank account deposit right now when they do it and then push some of those salary cap, get back. That's something that the 40 Niners have said that they're open to doing. But they're biding their time for the very reasons that we talked about. I think that they're exploring all different options right now. I don't want to commit to us, You know, singular path and they don't have to be. You know, they're They're under the cap right now, but they don't have to have the cap situation completely resolved until three agency starts and that starts on March 17th. So I think that we'll see some movement. Around late March. Once that starts signing players being under the cap when they're not in new guys, and that's when you start looking at throughout the Loew's deal, and, you know, quite frankly, that's probably when you have to start making a decision. But firm decision on Garoppolo because if you need more money, and you decide that Restructured contract and obviously he's your guy. I just don't think they're at that deadline yet, but that deadline is coming, and they'll start moving some money around. And I think that even if they do, keep him, they can, you know, run that that restructure that I'm talking about, And they could probably sign a couple. You know, key names. And you know Corey Lindsley Alex Mack that the center position is one I harp on a lot. But you can work around it if you're willing to pay right now, And I think this 40 Niners ownership over the past couple of years has shown that they are willing to dish out some cash, and they probably will have to show that willingness again this offseason. Let me hit you with a quick one before before you go, Who got to get out of here? Chances that Trent Williams percentages that went Trent Williams gets to free agency. Here's the 40 Niners that that would not be good news for them. I think it's Only 30%. I think the build will get something done before then, And even if they have to pay a little bit more than they're comfortable with. I think you just don't want to see in its open market because then you'd have to pay. A lot more than you're comfortable with. Agree. David Lombardi of the athletic. Hey, Brian, What do you have for me? Hey, Y'all have been talking about offensive lines all morning, and I just wonder with the limits and practice time if we'll ever see dominant offensive lines again in the NFL. Well, you do have them. They're certain teams that have pretty good line Play Yummy Club. No one That was great. Was the Ravens with Ronnie Stanley and Janda and they both got hurt. Cowboys had a good one. And the Eagles had a good one. Yep. 40. Niners had a good one. But these guys get injured. That's it. You can Feels like that's a big problem, too. But you know if you look back on the draft this past draft, how many offensive lineman do you think were taken in the first round? And you never think about it when it happens because they're not sexy pics. There's no celebration and we got a tackle. Hey, we've got a center. There were seven offensive lineman taken in the first round. That's the most since 2016 teams. They're still trying, and they're using high draft picks to try to find offensive linemen here. Why does the team drafting a center seemed like the most fun, interesting pick of all the linemen? It seems like that's a very important positions. But when the Cleveland Browns selected years, remember Alex Mack? Yeah, I remember. They show the Browns and I go. No, I think he's like a five time Pro Bowl. I was gonna say ah, lot of times when you guys should I forget the guy's name. I think the Vikings might have taken a center a couple years ago out of NC state. Because of the case and i was like wow like this happens to everyone that we play have not had and i was like a little conspiracy theorists there. I'm like what do know you were like. Who's are we give it to just offered the limelight posing to you. I mean it's so many of them of course. I don't think that's really happening but wouldn't not be funny to find out. I mean not funny but then today was like boom boom definitely shut where clendenin cigar crap. I'm sorry guys. My ball always fall. And but with alex mack. He didn't play last week. Because of a concussion and his contract is up this year contract and so last week his heir apparent matt. Hennessy played in his place so they weren't even sure if alex mack like coming back from the concussion if they were gonna even play him like wiler bother and then he got the co ed so now. He's on the list on the list. The atlanta falcons. this is. this is the last time you'll see what we're going to see them. As with matt ryan at the helm jones really yeah. It's going to be so strange that they're gonna be in rebuilding mode next year. They were the panthers are going to be fighting for the bottom for the next few years. rebuild mode and then the saints will be right behind them and then you know the box. What are we doing at quarterback. Once brady is up always stay with us forever. She was sixty years old at ninety yard bombs. I wanted to put this out there. This i'm down with the previous Gronk has been healthy all season which he credits. The veterans day in glen them. He gets veterans. Day is off here. Which i guess. New england didn't do that but he's said it's only the second time in his career that he's played a full season. I think i think the first one was rookie eager and we had talked about that when we got him lying. You know he's good for like half a season. Yeah we had remember last year. We had a lot of problems with our receivers with leg cramps and all that good stuff and areas was like. Maybe i've been running them to heart. We haven't had that that probably we had godwin hurt his hand. He was out for a week one week when broken hand and then Evans got yes so he was out for a week or two love there. We we've been pretty healthy. Well listen..

"Been a struggle to contain the virus. In Cleveland, there have been at least six players who have tested positive. Now. The good news is the encouraging parties they activated. The four wide receivers were missed Sunday's game against the New York Jets, and whenever this team does resume practicing for the big game this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers They are expected to get back. Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins Donovan People's Jones, Corporal Hodge, So don't have those players back. The question is where they're gonna be back in the building where they're gonna be back at practice. This is the most important regular season game since the Browns returned to Cleveland, and they can't even prepare the way they want to for it Now, when we put the Browns in the playoffs for the first time since 2002, the Steelers resting several starters, including quarterback Ben Rogers Burger Who is 23 2 and one in his career against Cleveland, Cleveland head coach Kevin's defense Key on if his team has enough practice time for this matchup will be prepared. Whatever whatever we're able to do today, tomorrow, all that what will be prepared? The guys are working very hard. On these zoom calls to understand what's required. We had practice yesterday like you mentioned, so whatever it ends up being I trust in our preparations in the guy's ability to adapt, the league spokesman said. At this point, the game will be played as scheduled in the situation is being closely monitored. His contact tracing continues. Brian Smith will miss the game as mentioned linebacker BJ Goodson and safety Andrews and a whole both testing positive as well. They are out Baker Mayfield, the will play this. The biggest game is pro career. So, says Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN in Cleveland. Baker knows that his perception around town and nationally of you know is he the guy is on the line. He's already lost last year to duck Hodges in Pittsburgh to Brandon Allen in Denver to lose to Sam, Donald and Mason, Rudolph and back to back weeks is something that would stick with him for a long time. Even though you know it's not like the Browns would be on the open market looking for a quarterback headed and next year NFL talk with Diane ever seen E joining K J. Z at 7 30 Eastern Geun, Jason fits and mark her slits of filling in more pandemic news connected to the NFL Rams defensive lineman Michael Bracher. Take place on the covert 19 Reserve list. He joins receiver Cooper Cup ahead of the Rams season finale against the Cardinals Falcons placing center Alex Mack on that same list. They play their regular season finale against Tampa Bay. Falcons could field an offense with 11 first-round draft picks
"So we had a truck a couple of signings by the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend right to pick up tight end Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens and they also acquired look Kwan Treadwell a former number one pick for the Minnesota Vikings yeah as the Atlanta falcons roster currently stands right now on offense alone just on offense they have a Levin former first round picks all of these former first round picks quarterback Matt Ryan first round pick Todd Gurley who sign when he was released first round pick Julio Jones first round pick Calvin Ridley first round pick the Quantrill first round pick Hayden Hurst first round pick left tackle Jake Matthews first round pick left guard James carpenter first round pick center Alex Mack former first round pick Chris Lindstrom the right guard former first round pick and right tackle Caleb McGary also that he first started his first round eleven is incredible let them all eleven of them a former first round pick I mean there's no way that's ever happened before right I can't believe that what ever but here's the real question if you had to redraft everyone of these players how many would be former first rounder this okay because I think this is fair Lidstrom McGarry and carpenter I've always been really what one or two years no it's been really since two thousand eleven okay yeah so let's remind me Gerry I think you were taken off or taken them out yeah okay so all of the other nine how many would be redrafted as a first round what's what's going on it's not right absolutely no question that runs for Todd Gurley no yeah I I would say no I would sit well I would say no one quite frankly his a conversation about the value of the position in general could also affect the new with him that was the thing coming out of college yes I look he has fifty eight rushing touchdowns over his first whatever seasons and all the other ones are either in the hall of Famer going let me just say six are we saying first rounder today or go back to the beginning again it would re drawing back to the beginning again because I'm currently the way Todd Gurley came out I mean would you not still take him in the first one that's the question now right are you going to pay for that kind of production from a running back anymore we saw Christian McCaffrey Leonard for net like there's been plenty examples of even a legal or not re signing a big second contract drafting a great one of the first round can still benefit you a lot okay I'm just trying to get to it you know is that what they've done in their right career does that mean where are the first roll worthy to me the girly thing is to your point he had a knee injury coming out of college and right when they signed with the red sign that long term deal with they're trying they got out of now then he was going to be chronic so to me the top group member he was the first one that airports reset the market for running backs and it turned out no he just re establish the old line of thinking but that first three years of production would you that would you spend a first round pick on that because we saw that rand's office how much in common now it always goes like this with the running game but in combination with an offense of line that did really well what you brought into what worth over would you pay for that as the foundation of your off I'm beginning to go the Melkite around here that I'm not sure running back as well because Melvin Gordon was in that same draft and Melvin Gordon is on his team I got an extreme I think that's the biggest conversation we could take out of this is the running back position record number mellow one point eighty never take a running back in the first Rana I wonder for we're slowly but surely going back to it I mean there was a contract a couple years ago with the first running back off the board was late second round out of Tennessee and I think we're going back to that after a bevy running backs being taken so we were definitely in on Matt Ryan yes we're out on Todd Gurley a legit is amazing looking back at Todd Gurley's draft class there's not a lot of got like if you're talking about reworking the top ten Todd Gurley might be the most wealthy in that group maybe outside of Amari Cooper yeah we can we can have that discussion later because that's in it read graphic I think is always fast and you have to wait a certain amount of time Julio Jones know quite well right Calvin Ridley first round too early again I think it's too early last year what he had sixty three receptions okay just under nine hundred okay seven touchdowns I would mean he also can't account for how bad that team ask me yes or no right now I'd say yes but I still think it might be too early Hayden Hurst no not because look they they took marketers later in the draft in the third round he clearly became the tight end of Baltimore which made Hayden Hurst by the way has taken in the first row before Lamar Jackson R. Jackson for Lamar starting you know tight on that team right now marketers you said right Hayden Hurst also dealt with some injuries and stuff there too that's okay in perfect sample size and when you have a guy come on like marquetry who could predict that the way that offense ended up of what he was the Mackey award winner a what he was coming home with one truck will no no Jake Matthews yes I think so I think so I think so do not I meet yeah yeah I mean yes he's been there he's been there is a second contract I also wrote a like doesn't miss a lot of games he's he's dependable yeah I think that's what it our printer are probably not I mean he's he's been a guy that's been in the league for nine years now dependable guy but we're talking about first round right you know I mean when you're twenty four we'll talk about for sure we're talking about top ten picks like a lot yeah yeah yeah I I'd probably lean toward no on that as well yeah yeah Alex Mack yeah absolutely yeah yeah and then the other than what we remember and I think Lidstrom would be headed in that direction yeah kill the guy who's more reach last year get killed the one I have questions about obviously we know the health concerns that existed before the draft earning a hard issue that he had had to deal with early in this time oxygen so there's a lot to hash out with those two but just I mean blows off the page when you just read that number the every single hundred dinners with that crew yeah what eleven Ryan still got its still on that ride to reach for the paycheck first but everyone else has to at least go for their wallets and act like there's also a common I do with you know with my dad so you got rid you got Ridley help you got got this R. Ridley Hearst links from a Gerry all still on their rookie deals you know wrecked yeah everybody else is is all for them yeah if I'm looking at yes correct so yeah they're all fascinating eleven a former first rounders on
