"Saying hang in there for that. Ride home fun dot com. I love it. That's great. That's great. And don't forget rarible for your chance to get in. If the NFT goes high enough, then forget the fun. Yeah, because you don't get to keep the 3 million. But you get to keep the .04 eth. I remember to my people. That's exactly right. Harry mccracken, the, did you think back in 1996, we'd be sitting here doing this? Global technology editor at fast company. And look what you're using an iPad mini. iPad Pro, it's a small IP address. Oh, it's the 11 inch iPad Pro. The size is just perfect. Is that your main computer? My main computer, and I'm much happier than when I use the larger one just because it's more portable and it works much better as a tablet than the right all those great articles and fast company on that thing. 98% of the stuff I've written since 2011, I've written on an idea. Wow. Wow. I feel like carpal tunnel is in your future. And I hope not. I just feel pretty good about it. Do they? Okay. Because there's no travel on that, right? It's no travel but I don't know. I've never traveled on keyboards. I've never been a keyboard snob at all. Nice. I'm so glad you came up. Thank you. It's been great. It's wonderful to see. Let's hope that you continue to have people in the studio. Gradually, inch by inch, we're working. Fingers crossed. Really nice to see you, Harry. And of course, Alex Lindsay, I'll see you on Tuesday. If you want to hire Alex to test your G 5 satellite capabilities. It has to have sandwiches. O 9 O no, I sure actually wants real dollars O 9 O media is his business. But of course, the thing that he's doing that is also groundbreaking. Office hours dot global soon to be seen on the 6 megahertz band of satellites working on it. Right now though you go to office hours, Doc global, you can watch the YouTube videos. You could join the zoom conversation, fill out a form get an invitation, all sorts of stuff. Even things like cooking on the weekends, except is it the geekiest cooking, because it's people cooking from their home, but they have a multi cam setup. So everybody's talking to each other is like, let me show you the close up of what I'm doing here. And I don't understand how to do this. We take it to a different I take everything a little over. Honestly, that's kind of worth it. This is the most innovative thing going on in Internet media right now. It's really fascinating what you're doing with it. Office hours global and it's pretty much all the time. It's like 24. I'm coming down to this. I'm just going to go hang out with everybody. It's 24 hours a day. There's basically the most geeky water cooler. You can possibly imagine. Just sit there and it's fun. It's great to have you, Alex. And I am looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday. Thank you for having me. It's always fun. I love apple, and I love Mac break, but it's really fun to be on Twitch, because it's not quite as good. It's definitely not focused today. It's a little blurry. All around. Exactly. Thank you all of you for listening and watching. We do it live on the stream if you want to watch us do it live. Every Sunday, about two 30 Pacific 5 30 eastern 21 30 UTC, you can go to live twit TV. There's live audio and video streams. They are now, if you're watching live, you might want to exclaim what the hell is this to other people who are also watching live. That's what the IRC is for. IRC twit TV. You can join with a web browser or an IRC client. Of course, club twit members also can yell at the clouds in our beautiful Discord server. So we'd love to see you in either of those places. After the fact on demand versions of the show are available on the web at our website, twit dot TV. I think all 17 years worth of episodes all 871 episodes are there. So you can download, go back in time if you want download any one of those, including Harry's first appearance in 2008. You can also go to the YouTube channel where not all of the episodes, but almost all the video episodes live and watch their best thing to do though if you want to listen to the latest is subscribing your favorite podcast client. That way you'll get it automatically. As soon as it's done, the editors are going to get a hold of it, cut out all the cuss words and put it up on the Internet via RSS. If you subscribe in your podcast player and they allow for reviews, do leave us a 5 star review. We would really appreciate that. "I didn't buy it. I just used the demo version, so they got no money for me. They make a program called meta shape, which will take photos of a space, I could take, for instance, a bunch of photos of every corner of the studio takes a photo's mushes them together, matches points all the way around, kind of like you might do if you're stacking photos for HDR. Matches all the points. And then turns it into a 3D model that you can rotate. You can make a mess you could do a 3D print out of it. It's kind of cool. It's called photogrammetry. And it's pretty intensive. I'll give you an example. Our friend Alex Lindsay who gave me the project said when he ran it on his 16 inch MacBook Pro with the Intel I 9 MacBook Pro, it ran for three days and then crashed. So it didn't finish anyway. So I ran it on Lisa's ultra. And it took about 20 hours. Which is a long time. It's supposed to CPU and GPU. I don't think it took advantage of the ultras GPU. And this is a little bit of a weak spot for mech. The GPU, the graphics processor, the thing that you really use for a lot of these things like 3D and photogrammetry. Isn't super good. Super good is a technical term. And it's because of the integration. Cuda cores and all the things that Nvidia's graphics cards do. So I thought, well, I'll run the same thing in the same software on my PC, which is running an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 and an Nvidia GTX 30 80 video card. Are those the ones that are hard to get. They were once. They're not the latest anymore. They're a year old. But in context, because I wasn't sure which ones it ran about 6 hours. About a third of the time. Wow. So people who are going, well, I have a max studio ultra, I must have a first computer in the world. Not true. Not true. Now, of course, there's other factors in the software probably didn't take advantage of the special stuff that apple's doing and so forth. But that's the point being, even if you're doing high end stuff, it may not be the fastest out there. So as much as I love what apple's doing with Apple silicon, I think it's important to know you can't overspend. You don't need to buy all the fancies. You may not need all the fancies. So I'm just telling everybody, chill, man. Speaking to the people of the normal people of earth, it's okay. You don't have to have the latest and greatest in all that stuff. Let's see, did anything happen this week in the world of tech? I'm a little mixed feelings about this. The Russian antivirus firm, you've probably heard people talk about for years, because it is Russian. And there was always this been this cloud about it, but Eugene Kaspersky, the titular founder, so loved in the western tech community. He goes to conferences. People know him. They love him. He buys him a beer, I guess. I don't know. That a lot of tech people have been very reluctant to say anything bad about Kaspersky. Well, it's the U.S. has placed Kaspersky lab and a list of companies deemed a threat to national security..

"It's only one minute long and I get to introduce some kind of cool people, even in one minute, kind of a tweet on the air, so to speak. Yeah, you know, sometimes short formats not so bad. And by the way, when I say one minute, it is never 1.1 minute to this number 59 seconds. It is really hard. You don't have to get 59.9. I might go with 59.9, but I wouldn't go with 60.1. Because the stations might dump out. I just got something. Anybody who's worked in radio used to carry a cassette player over your shoulder, big heavy thing. And then ranch, yeah. Yeah, remember the marantz? Yes, it always carried those around. Love those. And then eventually when solid state and it was like a little mini like a little smaller. I just got this from Zoom. This is their zoom. F three field recorder. Look at this. You could carry it in your pocket. It has a mic to mic so you could actually have two mics. XOR. So you could do it. This is perfect for radio. And it does something I'm learning about called 32 bit float. Is that right? 32 bit float recording. Which means you can't over drive it. You can overdrive the mic, but you could have a loud noise quiet noise, whatever, and you can fix it in post. So if I come up to you and I got a microphone and you can't see what's on the other end, it's probably in my pocket. Just like doing it. It's nice about that. You can use any of your analog mics, right? Yeah. It's like an FM 58. Well, actually, this is a 58 clone from a company called pile. Sounds really good. But yeah, you can just hand held Mike with a mic flag. I'm excited. It's funny. How do you get, I think I'm still in radio. But I think I'm still in radio. So I could go to CES to say, Larry maggot, CBS radio news. What do you think? I don't know. That's it. I think that's a nice microphone. Yeah. You know what I would think is why aren't you doing this? Because everybody now. I know. This is better. This is better. I could get 99. I'm sure it is. .99 hours on this. Evan Brown, Evan dot law. Give us a plug. Oh, that's it. Go there, read my blog, tell your friends about it. Although in the right hand side, my Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn. So I would love to love to connect and I've just had a great time this afternoon. Thank you for thank you for having me. Larry, nice to meet you. I've followed your work for years and years and wonderful to be in the same context here. Carolina, very nice to meet you. So intrigued to learn about you and the important things you're doing so. I would love to hang out with scratch by screen. Thanks. Thanks for being here. I actually should plug Carolina's interview with Justine and Jenna in Forbes. The power of knowing you belong because we're big fans and Justine was they are very good people. Was a discovery Alex Lindsay made in Pittsburgh at a WordPress convention. He came to me and said, you've got to meet this person. She's going to be huge since 2008, 2009, something like that. And she's been our show many times. She's too big now for us so we can't get her any more. That's a great article. I can't wait to read it. Forbes. Thank you, everybody. We do Twitter every Sunday evening around two 30 Pacific 5 30 eastern. Yes, we sprang forward today. Aren't you glad that I didn't go on and on about what a horrible idea it is to change the clocks twice a year. I just left that out. But now that we're in daylight saving time, you'll have to adjust because we moved, you may not have, in fact, around the rest of the world they haven't yet in many cases they're not yet on summertime, but we are on summertime. So that means I'm just going to tell you UTC and you could do the calculations. 21 30 UTC on a Sunday afternoon. After the fact you can get on demand versions of the show at the website, twit TV. There's a YouTube channel for this week in tech, the longest running technology news show in the world..

"Justify ROI when you hire and demo engineers, you can expect they'll be in already be efficiently onboarded and ready to deliver value for your team within days. Very efficient ramp up times. And it's not part time support somebody you're going to call up in the middle of the night. These people are embedded. They're in your organization, fully embedded with at least 5 hours of overlapping working hours or the rest of your engineering team. So you can talk to them. I am a big believer in this because I know in fact Alex Lindsay has always talked about these great engineering talents that he's worked with and trained in countries like Rwanda in Africa. And he's always said this to me, and it really resonated when I talked to andella. Brilliance is global, but the opportunities not. So here's your opportunity to take advantage of brilliant engineers from all over the world. I'll give you a good example. A company called mindshare, maybe you know them. They partnered with and they needed to quickly hire ten new digital experts. And I'm talking data scientists, machine learning specialists, analysts, developers, here's what the executive director and head of business intelligence and mindshare said, as we continue to enhance the synapse platform time to value is very important and delay is a good partner in helping us identify the right talent that's fit for different purposes. This is your opportunity to tap into a wider talent pool, stop competing with the major tech companies down the street, spend less time interviewing. Brilliance is, I love that line. I want to write it on my wall. Brilliance is evenly distributed but opportunity isn't. Well, now we can flatten that and level that playing field, and it's good for you. It's good for everybody. Here's the website and dela, a and DLA dot com. Slash four companies. Okay, four.

"Of course the key is that the port on the phone has to send out video not all do so. It just really is going to depend on the phone. What kind of phone do you have a motor g play. Okay one okay. So apple. For instance on its iphones. They sell a lightning to hdmi cable. Because they're lightning port does have video on it. You have type seaport on your moto I'm going to presume that it has video on it. I it just depends on what moto put in the in the specs for that port If it has video on it probably there's a you know any standard usb see to. Hdmi cable would work. But it's really gonna come down to if mo- let me put it this way if motorola sells one get that one The good news is usb. Hdmi is not expensive. So you should be able to find like sixteen bucks. Anchor makes one. For instance an anchor makes could stuff sixteen bucks. The only issue is if video signal is on that port. Coming out of the moto so you know go to. Gsm marino or go to motorola page go to somewhere look at the suspects. You just want to know if if they put video on that on that outbound port. They don't have to Instead hasn't this display port option but perfect. I can't it hasn't worked. So i yeah. Yeah of course so. I'm kinda getting frustrated. Yeah i don't blame you. So display port means that's interesting says display port That sounds to me like it's you. Sbc not thunderbolt out. Which would make sense what you want to get a usb video cable a lot of these. us spec- to hdmi are for thunderbolt. Which a different kind of video coming out so you wanna have one. This is compatible with usb video. Okay i bet you. That's the issue this. Is you know this my friend. Alex lindsay say hates type season. Terrible i think no it's a great specification is is terrible. Why are you say it's terrible. It's just because you don't know you can look at it and you cannot tell from looking at it what it can do. No that's why it's great. I say to him because it can do so many things in th you know the usb seat group that makes this does the spec says you should have a icon on every cable that tells you what the capabilities of the cable or an icon and every report that tells you the capable of the support. Nobody does that so it's not. Usps's fault it's just that usb doesn't just looking at the whole doesn't tell you anything about what it can do. It would be nice if they'd put those icons on. Then you know you got to get the right kind of cable. You gotta have the right kind of port so you got to do some digging. You gotta do some research if it puts out display port then. You should be able to find a usb hdmi cable that supports display port..

"Like more like a livestream except an event full of live streams and full of interactive in live chats and contests and polls and cuna. And all that. That kind of stuff i mean. I think the key is to make it much more interactive than a webinar is and more fun and more varied varied. Like i think i had for the one the one that i was eight hour event. I had every speaker like twenty five minutes. It was like twenty minutes of content five minutes. Qna and you know you could really almost do like five minute opening and go right into a with all the questions that people have and because they really want like get their name and their question read like you were saying before. It's that little dopamine it. I think the other thing is and i. I don't know if you guys have ever seen office hours on on youtube. It's all these production guys and they get together and they talk about like what makes good livestream events and they have a lot of tech background and and one of them said you know one of the biggest reasons the host actually alex lindsay said one of the biggest reasons for zoom fatigue is bad audio if if as harbor through. It's it's you know the tire because he it engages more of your brain to have to process like figure out what's going on there you're straining ear and it's it's unpleasant you know. So that's one thing that contributes the other thing is when people are doing these really bad virtual backgrounds where it's coming in and it's coming out or they're you know they think that they're they're doing something good by changing the screen constantly flashing messages on the screen and like even if you're not conscious of it all that stuff tires you out because every time the screen flashes again it's it's like an enga- engaging a part of your brain right it's sort of like. Oh look there's like over like over stimulus and you've been trying to figure it out like it's like what's wrong with this like were were were good. Because we can discover in differentiate between what's real and what's not right and then you see a weird image. It's not cut out right in your brain just goes. I don't know about this. Like i don't know right so it's working to kind of to solve those problems. Even when you're doing a livestream you see. Somebody's got a door open behind them. And there's something in your brain. That like i don't know if it's the primitive part that look out for a wild animal but there's always something that's like i wonder what's outside that door at least for me. I'm like always kinda like and i don't know why i'm doing it. I'm sure it's not interesting. And i'm not going like. Oh i'm i'm afraid that there's something bad coming through that door. No there's just like this curiosity on a low level throughout the livestream when what's hunt outside the door right. No no run on. We'll ross We don't have even though we do have unlimited time. We don't have unlimited time in the subject. But i want to thank you for coming on tonight. Thanks for having a again your book a hundred a hundred live streaming and digital media predictions. Yeah and And you got a bunch of content creators in the community. I know many of them which is just super great and And available on amazon kindle for two ninety.

"York. La rivalry right. And i love. I love new york when i was there. But i imagine the weather in la and the natural beauty. You guys get throughout california you know. There's there's a lot of nb going on it envy or just we hate you know. It's not him. I think the south gets get south. Florida gets a moorgate. I think by everybody. Your to in kentucky Jason is the california used to be hollywood. You know the golden west But i think of late. It's not quite that. That's what apple portrayed it as you know the magical. Yeah no i mean look lost a little bit of its luster for sure for whatever reason but some of it is just the you know also california for as long as there's been a california it's been a boom bust cycle right like it goes through these periods where everybody wants to be in california and then everybody's leaving california now it's everybody wants to be in california again and winning one of these like everybody's leaving in california. Why would you wanna be in california yet. Sort of periods which are usually the people in california that live their friends of mine. Told me like that's the best time to live there because like the traffic everybody leaves are a little lower moved to florida texas. Please be my guest. Yeah because traffic's terrible and of course we have wildfires we have homelessness we now. We have earthquakes. Yeah so anyway. I just thought it was an interesting thing i think. Maybe it an art artif- sorry go ahead. No please harry is gonna say it seems like maybe it's an artifact of the fact that they're not doing these events in person so they had the opportunity to go places and pick interesting spots to do the demos from and given that apple is in california and there are lots of interesting places here. It's a logical move to make and if you're gonna go to those places you're probably talking about how great california's because apple has done that for a long time and all their products at a little teeny tiny type bragging about the fact that was designed cats. True that's true. I don't to move on go ahead. I don't suppose next time they'll do it from china. go ahead vendor I was gonna say they The last couple events they've had basically shut off the headquarters right so they had people on the roof. They had people in the courtyard. They had people like you in glass. Like rooms and stuff. And i think after a certain point. They're like we do more than this. There's more we can show than our office. One reaction alex lindsay had a metric quickly on tuesday. Was this d. this proves it apple is going to continue to do prerecorded events. Because they've realized that the pre they have such skill and production the production value is so high that it makes it much more interesting event. And i would. I actually would hope that they would expand it to the rest of the us. Next time And not. I think it's a mistake just to make california but i do think it has value the production values. Incredible right. yeah. I wanna way by some of the shots. Sorry go ahead. As i say i imagine that even if they do bring back and in-person element you will see more of the stuff Rather than at all the stuff that works best if you happen to be there in person. I'm biased person. So i voted for going back to impress them but for both apple and almost everybody in the world except protect journalists There are a lot of arguments continuing to do this. I mean let's face it. These events are just big ads. I mean that's really what they come but they draw a big audience not just journalists but a but apple fans and and people are interested in the technology so it's a great opportunity for apple. They took the advantage of that. Starting the thing talking about apple. Tv plus which basically an ad for all the shows that are coming in the fall and stuff so it is something apple will obviously continue to do. And i think that they. They're aware of people coming to the events. And i think for people like you harry and devendra and and jason. There's a hands on element. That's that's nice for journalists to be able to after the they're talking about it go and play with stuff but it's a very limited audience and i think apple realizes that the real value of this is is a is a ninety minute more our ad and also showing things inaction during people using not just on stage but you know in a in a real world environment. I think that's going to be more benefit that I almost wonder like i'm surprised. Apple doesn't do around it stores. I haven't been to an apple store during an event time. But do they do anything to be like. Do they show the events as they're happening in a store because that would be kind of cool to get the like local hardcore bands into. I don't i don't know do they. They should shouldn't they. I've always. I've always thought that to defend. Driving is a great point because he stores. It's sometimes i've i've. There was one time. When i can't remember. I had an appointment or something and it was overlapping part of the event or right before and house like nobody here realizes. There's an apple going on. June amazing isn't while for longtime these events. Were were almost christmas for geeks right though. Yeah i think those days are kind of gone. I mean the expectation that apple is going to announce something that will take your breath away.

I don't know it's something that i need to get up from this desk while i'm while i'm broadcasting to go answer if i see that okay i know exactly what this is. I'm just going to let them leave. Whatever it is at the door. Or i'll send text. I know who this is. I'll send him a text message saying that. Hey come by in about an hour. These are problems that i absolutely need to solve. So this is why. I've sort of been looking for one of these things I like the reasons why the doorbell kind of did it for me was largely because i do trust google when it comes to privacy and security again within the limitations of google by certainly. The other big player is amazon. And i absolutely do not trust them. I also do not approve of how they're trying to use ringed they're trying to sell ring doorbell Through local law enforcement to turn it into sort of a private No warrant a surveillance system and as for third party options. I'm not sure that they've been really rigorously. Tested for security for penetration from other people who might try to access it from outside the network so that solves that problem. I like the way that the software works. They it's powered by google artificial intelligence so that we're asked the ring doorbell just like this one will let you for instance Specify ally only keep an eye on the. Here's here's the big wide angle view. Please only pay attention to what's happening in this driveway. Area that i've marked out for you However the the google doorbell uses Machine learning image recognition. So you can say. Please give me alert. Went a car appears in the driveway. Or please give me alert when a package appears on my doorstep or If there is somebody when someone rings the doorbell tell me exactly identify who it is and identify. Tell me exactly who it is. Because previous it's stephen basically say that. Oh well this this. Is that person who rang the doorbell. That's my mom so remember. My mom looks like so as a result. You can basically get it to do the things that you want to do as a sophisticated doorknob besides simply be a dumb camera that switches on when there's motion detected then switches off later on Very very easy to install. It comes with something that not a lot of video doorbells come with which is the simplest damn thing an actual angled bracket so that in my My door is sort of in a corner. So if i have the camera mounting like just flat against the against the door frame more the surround all i will get halfway just wall and the halfway will be What's actually forty two it But given that also comes with an angled brackets simply put that bracket behind it. so now. it's actually on like sort of a An eighty degree angle. So i can see other things. Installation was very very easy. Setup was very very easy as it happens. I do have other google nest devices. I do have a smart display on my nightstand. I do have smart speaker so things get announced. The video gets fed very very easily. So that's another advantage. If you happen to be plugged into google but so far very very happy with it. It hasn't been an annoyance. It has solved the problem that i wanted to solve. Which could solve it for less than one hundred seventy nine dollars. But i don't want to get a fifty dollar video doorbell that i'll be three months later i'll be just say i'll be on. Npr here saying well warning for everybody who has Tomi video doorbell. It turns out that your feet is being put into an actual streaming video. Service has best. Burn stan okay. Well have to deactivate a whole bunch of things on my doorstep but yeah it works very well. I really really like it. Also like it's subtle. It doesn't it doesn't stick out the way that it next door. Doorbell does very nice. I wonder if apple would ever make something like that. They don't make any cameras. I wonder if they ever would know that. Probably not. I wish. I wish they would. That's a that's an area that they could really move the needle because so much better. I think exactly if if if apple if apple had a video doorbell. Even though i'm not even though like i don't have an iphone. I would be thinking very very seriously about going with it instead of a google doorbell because Again i trust google within the for the lower case version of the word trust but google apple for all the jokes and for all the snarky comments i make and all the valid criticisms i make about how sometimes it's not so concerned about privacy as they want us to thank. I do think they're the big key the of the trillion dollar companies. They're the most concerned with user privacy and protecting privacy so that would be such a huge selling point for such a device. Yeah and we're look cool. Yeah with three model of everybody who came to your house. that's good. I think that you could rotate them to like four pounds until until the some company makes a video adorable. That's like a little follow panel slides open and one was a glass eyeball like on an arm like on job with huts pilots. Each utah that's going to be. That's that's my by my pick. So far gosh. I need one of those nothing job and you can't come in unless you respond in hoodies. Dicta to jabba too. Hot like past friend is that actual hut that is mostly hut are are to see three. Pay each day to job outdo hot and i'll put it this way. I can order in a hut restaurant pointing at the menu. But i'm not fluent but hello. Goodbye thank you yes. Hey pizza the hutt. I been there. "That's great but it's your story which is very profound very powerful. That's really neat. Yeah i for all of us And i'm you know. I'm glad you're living beyond the label. That's really good. Yeah thank you so basically what. I'm trying to figure out. I i turn to save time and and i have to. Do some computer like kansas city has done an hour to get the candidates set of iran molded in and then make sure the lighting crack and everything. And i'm trying to find a way where i repeat just remote into my computer and then they can see all the cameras in the studio and then it has like eight different shots and then they use goalby s or another switcher or something like that and try to piece all that together in a sitting for me. I take like twenty minutes. That'd be a piece. You totally could do that but not probably not with your smartphone. Yeah nothing i. That's what i would kind of rain. And so like i like india two thousand three budget You could easily do this for that i would look at black. Magic design dot com. They have something called an An eight tim mini which i think can be remotely controlled. It's a camera switcher and you probably want probably would just have a friend say you can you. Can you do this for me. It will stream by the way If you get the many pro it will stream. It's under a thousand bucks you can use. A variety of devices is cameras it takes. Hdmi in in fact you might even be able to use the pixel Within i think you probably can't put it. Hdmi out on it Probably the pixel keeps. Get overheated yeah yeah. That's the problem with a lot of If you're gonna shoot for video for a long time a lot of cameras have that problem. You really need kind of a video camera a to do that. Yeah back magic many. It's called the. At m. series. These are switchers. I mean just see. Yeah you know. You should probably check out. This is what i would do. There are some experts on this. Who are streaming monday through sunday. Seven days a week pretty much twenty four hours a day talking about solving things like this and if you went on there and said i have this problem. You'd get some real experts helping you with this stuff. They're eight team experts but they also know about a lot of other things you can remote control your eight ten over the internet. So that's good so somebody could over the internet control it with the software on there and the hardware and your end and they could. You could even have multiple cameras and switch back and forth there's also audio going into it But but i want to mention this office hours thing. My friend alex lindsay started this in..

Apple’s ‘Spring Loaded’ Event Recap

"Apple had a loaded event. I mean loaded event this week. They called it spring loaded. Get it last year. At this time. They did spring forward this year. Spring loaded and All the pundits agreed that that must mean. There's going to be a lot of stuff. It was exactly an hour to the to the second which is pretty nice because it was all recorded ahead of time and carefully edited a lot of really cool and interesting at its although my friend alex lindsay. Who's video production guy. In fact does a lot of these kinds of streams has done it for many companies including and the white house even so he's kind of knows how these live things Work he said there were two. It was butte. All the transitions. Were you know beautifully produce. You know zooms and drones and things except for there were a couple of what we call jump cuts very early on. There was one where Ceo of apple. Tim cook was walking on an apple park and they used apple park. Because it's spring in apple park. Looked beautiful and you know. Actually it looked beautiful to californians the rest of the world's probably looking at it and go and why is that so raggedy not manicured lawns and perfect trees. And all that stuff no. It looked like the california countryside. It was a little wild They call it. Zero zero zero graffiti. It's a low water landscaping using native plants. And it looks to me. it looks. It looks beautiful. Looks like you're on a hike through the foothills of the sierra in california. I mean it was beautiful but it might have looked a little ragged anyway tim. Cook's were walking through this and then all of a sudden he's walking through another part. There was a jump cut. And alex said and i think he's probably right. That means apple had something in there with a transition beautiful plan and stuff and they cut it out. Could've been important could have been unimportant but it was cut out so that's interesting. "So I forget his S the I S L or whatever the industry. Standard is you'll have a bunch of different ports on the outside of it. What's your response to people who said, apple shouldn't maybe apple should make a one thousand dollars stand? But this should have never told anybody. I'll tell you that I think if you ask anybody at that thing, that's I don't know how it got passed Phil Schiller passed on. I don't think they watch this for days. Nobody understands how this gone on there. We could just go back LeRoy Jenkins. Honestly, it didn't bother me as much as I think it bothered. Everybody in the in the hall, and, and obviously, a lot of pundits killed the whole segment. People were living. Yes. But I also understood that pros a they're not that price sensitive and be they often don't want a stand. Alex Lindsay takes the stand used to take the stands off all the monitors and because he'd use arms with the visa mount and so they didn't announce the wheel price. Right. Just don't say audience, you would have gotten me wheels are going to be five hundred bucks show, yet Leo, because it starts off with Gruber looking at Johnson going, so how much of the wheels, and Johnson looked back. And goes how many do you want? Good answer. Did he ever find out? No. I don't think they were going anywhere near that never. They'll never say, by the time you bought a five thousand dollar monitor any is, you know, especially because most people will be buying this with a MAC pro really only you could say you can run it online MAC pro. But, you know what's the point if you don't have their positioning is that most times, people in these workflows by one reference monitor right into the Sony. The launch. Yeah. Yeah. And now this case they can by seven so that, and not just so that people who are working on the footage can be caller accurate. But so they don't look at their inaccurate displays and go bother the color guy and say this is wrong when he knows it's an old chain can be accurate. So they're actually, I bet you that this, these monitors might even outsell. Amac pro actually, now that you mention it. If it's a different thing from the argument about the about the MAC pro solve there out there. If you wanna cheaper monitor the lots alternatives out there, but the people have been talking about in the pro industry have been telling me that there's really nothing quite like this on the market, yet where you can't get this kind of quality, this kind of that this kind of sure that you're, you're, you're mixing, these colors right for this kind of a price point. And so I don't think that, that's a controversial thing at all. But I also curious to see how how much these wheels are going to cost compared to like. Appro workflow team because they're like, no. We have to understand you gotta roll it around these things off the truck move around. We need. Actually can I tell on Lori for a second because it was it was delightful to me were standing in the hands on area..

"Right. Not all of them will expand beyond gaming, right? Right. You know? So understanding that market and a lot of ways with Amazon web services, for example, the ability it had to understand what people were building on its platform and the things they needed and then being able to release services on top of that that met those needs based on the data. They had is what made AWS such a behemoth. If Kuka can provide the type of engaging such a high demand edge service, if Google can understand that workload and build products that make that awesome. They might have an advantage is more computing goes out to the edge and becomes higher like demands more capacity lower latency etcetera. That's just a speculation. Yeah. I mean, all we can do at this point is speculate there is money in gaming Google. So hard to understand what Google's for ching strategy is in any of this stuff as we learned Google plus happened mostly because victim doctorate champion it. So long and hard that everybody just got tired of hearing from its at. All right. Go ahead. Go ahead to Google, plus and the minute he left it died. So maybe this is that maybe there's something is YouTube. Hedge is a. Maybe I always forget the name of the service, the twitch twitch. Thank you, John it. But I'm pretty sure Google tried to get it. Yeah. Exactly. So, you know, it's it's another thing people do and spend time on and as in it, there's money there's this whole notion of of of of spectator sports. We're going to talk later about Amazon and the yes network. I would imagine what we can do do it right now. Amazon has put a bit into by the Yankees television network. "It was like above zero freezing rain than below zero everything froze Eissa, it's like an ice and snow coffee crisp now. And you never know where you're gonna is enough. We are gathered today to talk about rumors nothing but rumors, but lots of them the one I thought was most interesting and immediately thought of you Alex Lindsay because you've been saying apple should start a Bank for a long time. Wall Street Journal says apple will be teaming up with Goldman Sachs to create a credit card. That's a first step though, chocked I'm shocked shocked. I think a lot of the stories we're going to see today have to do with apple trying to make money on subscriptions to be honest with you trying to make more money per customer because hardware sales are slowing. This is an obvious way to do it. Goldman Sachs already has a Bank called, Marcus. Which they created a couple years ago because they're they're securities trading. Business wasn't doing quite as well as they'd hoped that that that banking product name makes me think that they hired some eager young go getter at the age of twenty eight food to bring some fresh ideas to banking, and he said, let's not call it fight -ality reserve, plus checking and banking. Let's just give it a fun Moderning kiss. It is a strange name, isn't it? Marcus is like a lot of these online. "And I just pushed the button on the front, and it just updates. You know, so it's it is nice that it so easy to update turn off. I think it's port broadcasting. It's about half a million ubiqu- devices are are subject to this. And I listen to Steve. But I seem to remember disable the broadcasts ports or there's no reason why you should have UDP ports one thousand ten thousand one to forty eight thousand five hundred open. So anyway, something to be all right. That's the number of devices. They also make they also make great intens that go ten miles. Just in case you wondering I have those two. Great. We use them for a long time here, the enterprise stuff. I think we're using ruckus right now. But those enterprise networks are fantastic. Yeah. So ubiquity has yet to patch. This device this issue with some of its devices mass exploitation attacks refer spotted last week. It's a threat actors use a service running a port ten thousand one on ubiquity devices to carry out week de dos amplification attacks. So basically, you should just go to shields up. Make sure port ten thousand once not open. Are you? I I didn't. I heard that one. Yeah. You to keep up on this stuff all the time. And I'm sure ubiquity will patch it, but that's a significant. Steve, we do you think? Goodness for Steve everybody listens to Steve. So all right now, it's your turn Mr. Alex Lindsay getting back into coating and getting my kids into coding. And and there nine eleven that's about the time. I started coding so. So I feel like much and looking for some good videos that. That are easy to follow. And you know, but I actually like core slow that you can kinda work through and I found code with Chris on on YouTube. And it's there's something about how he's put it put together, the the curriculum that I think is just just really works. Well, so as it's both it's a mixture of being personal. But also being to the point, you know, I get I get a little I've little AD. So I need to move quickly. And I met that I still watch the videos at two ex. But but it really takes you through. Okay. We're going to show you how to build something basic, then you're gonna build the database built something he's design. And so so those, you know, you kind of work through these courses EPs, it's like you can basically learn how to program swift from. 'cause I'm interested in just swift. I'm not interested in trying to figure out anything else. So I just wanna learn that's the part that I'm trying to learn right now as I just want to just learn swift. And and so this will let you if you are interested. It's relatively inexpensive. I think it's a couple hundred dollars and. Relatively inexpensive. And if you're trying to figure out how you're going to get off the ground, and and build something in a month be able to actually because I think the hardest part is getting over the hump of. I just don't understand how to compile an ex code. I don't understand how to do the basic building. And then after that there's lots of resources that you can go through but getting over that initial hump. I think is really important. I've been researching this a lot, and this is the best videos that I've that I found so far and again, you can see bunch of them for free on YouTube. So you don't have to buy anything until you know, on YouTube search for code code with Chris you can watch a bunch of videos, but the course the courses are even even better. Nice. Very cool. I know we all wanna write ups, we all have idea. Bellas? I I AP that'll be fun. Well, she's really into photography. So I actually gonna I'm working on teaching her how to build her own photo app. You know, simple one that she has the buttons you can kind of put it together. Because something that that she figure out what she wants to do from there. You know, I think Mallika probability game siskel. Very impressive. Thank you. Thank you Rene. Thank you, Andy..

"For total Matt on Amazon, and you're done if you do go to the NFL site, you'll see like middle aged young people in t shirts smiling and holding products that are not stock photos, but clearly our employees trying to do stock photography. So if you're into that definitely hit the site. Alex Lindsay has his lips sealed. But unseal them for a moment for us would you and give us your pick of the week. So my pick for the week is I had over the week over the Christmas break I had to write a report. That's what I do for breakers. I write a report. And so I had a right at this twenty page report about livestream in all these other things. And so I decided as a challenge can I build it all in pages on my ipad. So like, can I actually do it without my laptop and everything else? It turns out a cannon. It's actually now that I've gotten used to it. So my recommendation is is pages and XM a kids have gotten very good at keynote by themselves without almost any training at all the they actually work really well in. But the but now that I'm used to pages on my ipad. I found that. I I'm frustrated by pages on my MAC, you know, so you know, it just feels very lot could click when you get used to using it. So it is it's definitely if you've been not using it or not playing with it. It actually is a a it's pretty powerful and being able to touch the screen is pretty awesome. So, you know, but that was a big it was a big lift for me. There was I will admit the first two or three days of it. There was a long string of swearing. I was really glad my kids weren't in the room as I tried to figure out where something that. I knew on the MAC was where it was on the ipad, and why wouldn't drag and, you know, getting used to the modal nature of you're touching it for this. But not for that. And so so twenty way, so it's it it does take a little bit of a learning curve. And it's, but I will say that it's it's well worth it..
