"But he may just be a conventional firebug and not an anti fire buck Thief acted Ah, Rogan's apology appears to have nipped the specific incident in the bud for now. When it did nevertheless raise the question of what would have happened if the situation turned out to be more complicated. So they go on to say, you know, people to judge has a has a podcast. And these other folks have a podcast? Well, you know this deal that's well worth over $100 million in there. There has to be a calculus shift here. As a result of what it is that's happening. Last Wednesday, Motherboard published a report that draws attention to what appears to be an emerging tension between the Spotify workforce and its leadership over the content substance on the platform. Citing three another. My X'd sources. The report highlighted a recent company Town Hall meeting in which some employees raise concerns and submitted questions over Rogan's history. With comments deemed Transphobic many of the LGBTQ Aye, aye. Plus slash ally spot of fires. Feel unwelcome and alienated because of the leaderships response in the Joe Rogan experience. Conversations. What's your message to those employees? One question read. There've been several examples of Rogan making comments over the years, but recently he brought on Abigail Schreier, whose book Irreversible Damage has been Criticised for describing the gender dysphoria as a social contagion and another episode just last week, which featured Rogan making a crude joke about Crate, Caitlyn Jenner and the Kardashians. But when you sign a guy like me when you sign Howard, when you sign Rogan, you kind of know what you're getting when you signed those people into the deal. I mean, I have to believe if you're signing these people into the deal. Jake, Can you be surprised? I mean, would you do your due diligence and say, Okay, this is going to be like adult for here. I mean, if you go on a satellite radio, Ah, platform and you go through the channels, you're going to hear cursing on some of those channels, sometimes in the music. So the Spotify CEO Daniel Ek acknowledged a total of 10 meetings have been had with various groups and individuals to want to hear their respective concerns. Ek Additionally commented upon the Abigail Schreier guest spot quote. Joe Rogan, and the episode in question have been reviewed extensively. The fact that we are into changing our position doesn't mean we aren't listening. It just means we made a different judgment call. Somebody flagged that episode. Somebody also flagged an episode in which Alex Jones was interviewed by Joe Rogan. The question is whether or not these things are now going to be surgically removed and not made available to people who may otherwise want to hear those interviews again. You could have Abigail Schreier on your show. But the question is, What's the orientation? Pardon? The word that you're using. When you interview her? Are you going to interview her as a hostile interview? Hey, there's a crazy book You wrote. I don't understand where you're coming from on this. Is that permissible tohave on or is it only Permissible to not have it on and blow it up or support it like you just you gotta. We don't want to be exposed to something that we don't like thes e days of the great challenges. Night might default position is always freedom. Let me decide what I'm going to consume and not consume, presuming it's not morally and socially a boring content like Isis snuff videos in child pornography that that's like I don't want to have anything to do with anything approaching that stuff. But when it comes to just political conversation, social conversation comedy conversation, whatever it is I'll be the judge of what I want to hear. And if I don't like it, everything is lazy, and I think it stinks that turn it off. Might default position is always towards freedom. That's my true North. Your thoughts straight ahead. Plus, we'll check in with Mark Garrison. Get a thought of what's coming up on Charlotte six on Brett. What? Oh, no, no, no, no, That's right. That's right. That's right. Never mind. I just grew up. 6 Drivers of Business with Daniel Tardy and Sarah Sloyan
"Over the past few years, coaching, small business owners were in the country. One of the things that I've learned. Is that y'all do not lack intensity folks. Passion is kind of the price of admission. If you WANNA, start a lead and own your own business so I don't doubt your passion, but what I've seen is that the difference maker between business owners that fail and those that succeed is that the ones who succeed the ones who win at the highest level are the ones who have a plan for consistently executing on the things that matter most over an extended period of time, and that begs the question what matters most from the Ramsey network. This is the entreleadership podcast. podcast where we help business leaders grow themselves their teams in their profits. I'm your host Alex Jones and today we get to sit down with two of our senior leaders. Here at Entree Leadership Daniel Tardy, and Sarah slowing and I am so excited because they're going to walk you. The small business owner through the things that we have identified here at Entree leadership matter most for your organization, we call them the six drivers of business success, and if you're going to grow as a leader as a team and as a business, you're going to have to focus on all six of them now six drivers, it sounds super simple, but just like most things it is far from easy. Alex remember the first time that I started learning about business. I started hearing from my dad and my granddad. These different phrases that were busy phrases. You know things like a pnl an income statement. Sales and marketing revenue, and you know. I think businesses such a fascinating world, but it's also really complicated because there's all these words these. These different ways of doing business, and then you get to hear most businesses fail. Crap how they feel. And how do you make sure you don't fail? And you start learning about it and you kind of get excited to explore this this world, but then you also realize it's Pandora's box and adjust keeps going, and there's so much infinity when it comes to what it takes to win in business, and that was the backdrop of what. What I stepped into a leadership role in business for the first time, essentially going there so much here, it's so confusing it so overwhelming I'm going to do my best I got a few things figured out, but I still feel like there's something about blind spot. That's going to take me out and I. Don't really know what to focus on and so. The key with all of this is, we have figured out the business actually. Isn't that complicated? We just make it complicated and we spend a lot of time with Dave with our leadership team, and looking at our journey, and looking at thousands of customers that we've worked with and we've said. What's true with all these businesses? That's making them work. And we figured out as it's really about six simple things that if you'll focus on these six things, you're GonNa win, and you actually don't have to worry about anything else. And so we took this very complicated. Overwhelming space that for people like me tend to feel intimidated with how much complexity there is and go. Let's just put the cookies on the bottom shelf and go. What are we really talking about here? And I know the last time we had a conversation here. We talked about those different stages that we've really realized every small business including our own goes through from the treadmill all the way to the peak performer, and ultimately the legacy builder, and it seems like Sarah that there's kind of like this option of like you can either wander through those stages on your own, or you can follow a guided path, and it seems like the. The Path is the better option for the business owner. I mean it's my preferred option. Just because I feel like if I can get to where I'm wanting to go faster, because someone else has forged the way and can say hey, here are the key milestones. There's a reason why I don't usually take all the back roads when I'm trying to get somewhere. Fast I like all the back roads when I've got the luxury of kind. Kind of you know if I'm just trying to see the sights, but if I'm if my purpose is getting somewhere, then I want to get there. You know as efficiently as possible. So yeah I'd love having kind of a roadmap and signs that I'm on the right path for those things and I would even argue you don't really wonder from the treadmill to the Pathfinder to the trailblazer most people if they don't focus on the six. Six areas. They never actually get off the treadmill. You know so. It's not just a matter of. Do you want to get there faster slow, or do you want to take the long way or the short way? Unfortunately, if you stay on the treadmill and you don't focus on these areas, one of them will become your blind spot or your Achilles heel and cause you to stay on the treadmill so long that eventually you collapsed satistics. Happens with small businesses who stay on the treadmill and it's not even necessarily that the business fails. It's you are then you're lifestyles threaten. Most of these folks start their business for freedom. You know they don't want to answer to other people. They want to go to their kids. Soccer Games they WANNA make money to be able to afford to vacations and if they stay on. On that treadmill. They never actually get to do those things and it's crazy. Sometimes, it's like unfortunately will coincide with business. Owners will meet them when they are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and it's like I'm just so fed up with being trapped by the thing that I built and it sounds like what this path is about. Yes, totally yeah, I mean I. I feel sad when I hear that because I know so many business owners. They believe that there's a better way that's why they started, but use the word feeling trapped by the thing they started. You know and it's very normal for small business owner to end up in that spot where they feel trapped. They feel desperate. They feel hopeless and so our goal with creating this framework and observing and researching. What does it really take to win and business is to take that business owner who's feeling trapped and starting to wonder if they have what it takes and give them a clear guided plan that says if you'll just focus on these things you're gonNA. GonNa win because what happens. Is that business owners starts thinking. They're the problem and they don't have what it takes. They're not cut out for it in the truth is like they probably are a lot better than they feel like they are. They just need a clear plan so that if they follow the plan, they combine that with their driving their ingenuity, and then they're off to the races and
Tech's free speech debate is about Zuckerberg vs. Dorsey
"Many Americans are facing different realities disparities in covert nineteen deaths for one and right now they're expressing outrage over different things for some stay at home orders have moved them to protest for others it's police violence against unarmed citizens it can feel as though we're living in two different countries so we're talking about that today and one of the places where you can feel America's divide is social media we're divisions are also stoked by trolls and disinformation social media companies try to monitor that to varying degrees and with varying success but even that is divisive as we've seen this week when president trump expressed fury after some of his tweets were flagged by Twitter for potentially misleading information about mail in balloting then yesterday the company flag one of his tweets about the Minneapolis protest for quote unquote glorifying violence president trump signed an executive order aiming to weaken legal protections tech companies have had for years it's unclear whether he has the authority to do that but given all the events of recent days we want to talk more about this so we've called three prominent figures in this debate Karen Swisher is the co founder of Rico that's a site focused on tech news and New York times contributing writer has been pushing Twitter in particular to take far more aggressive steps in policing false information Swisher welcome back thanks for joining us once again thanks so much financial or is the executive director of aspen digital that's a non partisan organization that researches issues related to tech and digital media and she has a long resume in both digital and traditional media including as a president and CEO of NPR so we very much welcome back to you via thanks Michelle glad to be here Matthew Feeney is the director of the project on emerging technologies at the Cato Institute that's a libertarian research and advocacy group here in Washington DC Matthew Feeney welcome to you thank you for joining us as well no thanks for having me the cast which I'm going to start with you because on Wednesday you wrote an op ed in The New York Times this is after Twitter label to the president's tweets regarding mail in ballots as potentially misleading and they added some contextual information and you called this move a baby step why well it's the first thing they can do I mean a lot of they could have banned them they could have taken down the tweet they could have a lot of things but this is the first time Twitter is ever done any kind of I don't want to use the word punishment this is the wrong thing they've ever taken any action against president trump when he violates their rules which he does all the time you know we could spend a whole program talking about this will tell us more broadly what's your point of view about this well I think they are like publishers and so they have some responsibility instead they allow all district to wash over their platforms and in fact get taken advantage of by malevolent forces and so I think they should do more monitoring of it to fit first of all I love them just to get rid of some of the stuff that's obviously used for propaganda but they just let anybody do anything and what it does is create this sort of giant mass of humanity which nobody knows what is true or not and then other players take advantage of it Alex Jones was the most famous obviously he got tossed off all the platforms so you usually what I want to say you are here and your own capacity as a media executive as a person with a deep background in addition to working at NPR as a president CEO you also work for Twitter but I'm going to ask you on your own hook to tell us what you think about this week's news look I think Twitter has been slow on this I think they should have taken action some time ago that said these are really tricky decisions Twitter now that they've taken an action with the president it's going to be really difficult for them to keep up you know there are five hundred million tweets roughly that are sent every day and there are already calls across the board of what about this tweet what about that tweet and it's going to be very very tricky for them I'm glad they took the move but now the camel's nose in the tent Mr anywhere your thoughts I think this puts on not just with about other social media comes into a tough spot here which is that they are trying to figure out how to moderate this kind of content while remaining in the eyes of the uses the gentleman and it's not a surprise to me at all that in the wake of a good decision to fact check that they have been allegations of inconsistency but anyone looking for inconsistency and this debate is is short to find its there are hundreds of hours of footage uploaded to YouTube every minute there are hundreds of millions of tweets posted every day Hey the system won't be perfect and in fact the way that these phones tree contents depends not oftentimes on the Afrin content itself but what's being said about this and and that is something I wish more people understood in the debate which is a really really hard decisions and unfortunately causing a lot of people on the political rights in the United States of feeling bad somehow agencies would be better at this than private companies and while I think will will never be completely happy with how these private firms navigate these difficult content moderation decisions I would much prefer a private family of public failure in this film while some are because I think of the history of government regulation of speech reveals lessons namely that we should be wary office the fact is that social media is much more than Silicon Valley and their alternatives out there of course the the interesting thing about all of this is that in this debate many people on the Merican conservative space seem to forget that competition is is valuable there all of the social media networks out there well Mister you raised the issue that is it's you know we raising it kind of as a back drop here but it is actually a very big part of this whole discussion which is that there is this argument on the right which is certainly embraced by president trump that these companies social media companies are silencing conservative voices but Democrats and progressives have their own criticisms which is that these platforms have no standards and allow people to be libeled and slandered and somebody's very painful and in some cases dangerous ways I mean the data on the fact that women how women in particular women of color treated on these platforms and targeted particularly public figures who are women there's a great deal of data about the fact that and how they are targeted so she took care of so so the question then becomes you know how to do these things get address of care you want to jump in please do yeah I think let's be clear these are private companies they're not public squares and that's the one thing that seems to happen with the writer like my free speech rights be able to specifically you can't these are private companies owned by billionaires they can set whatever standards they want number one number two there's no evidence that there's any bias in anyway but there is evidence of his abuse of people of people getting abused by by the way on all sides and that's really the problem here is the ability to allow toxicity in lies to continue and that's something a private company should be dealing with but not legislated by the government there is there are certain things you can do and liabilities and things like that that media companies have had dealt with for for a very long time and so there's all kinds of solutions that are possible but I think the really problematic thing is considering these places to be the public square did you can do anything on me what do you think should happen here well I completely agree that there is no place for government regulation here that is a path to a very dangerous place but social media companies must take responsibility I applaud Twitter for actually making an effort here even though I think the path they're choosing is very difficult I was very disappointed in mark Zuckerberg's statements on fox news of all places saying that they don't want to be quote unquote the arbiters of truth they already are algorithms serve certain truths even if they're not human intervention involved they are going to have to I think eventually take some action the oversight board is a step but it's it's not enough we are in a moment now where these divisions have come to the fore we know for a fact that sometimes these mechanisms are used to kind of organize protest organized too really it globally certainly it is the case that they've been used both by people who are trying to find ways to resist government oppression but they've also been used by governments to advance oppressive mechanisms right so do they have a role here to play right now that you think would be constructive and I guess I'll start with you Kerr Swisher yeah absolutely they've been doing a very good job on cove in nineteen information they've been stamping out all kinds of bad health information except for president trump's they took down a bowl scenario they took down Maduro they took down a lot of stuff there and a lot of other stuff so during cove and it shows all of them Facebook Twitter all of them can do it and they can do it well and there was no controversy about that so they're totally capable but they're also capable of creating commonality look at all of the really wonderful stuff from Sarah Cooper to comics to people making jokes that can be used for commonality in a really positive way it's just they're designed towards in rage meant and that's the engagement is designed towards arrangement and that's
Conspiracy theories about COVID-19 vaccine reach church leaders
"Moldova. Yeah Moldova Shirt Moldova right. It's a church that I'm going to be talking about. Oh or I should say. The Orthodox Church in Moldova has denounced the potential covid vaccine as an anti-christian plot. Oh Yeah Oh yeah yeah. They're they're getting they're getting out there. Quick early good. They wanted to stay ahead of these things. Oh yeah absolutely. Do you know they say that it's a satanic plan microchip people and at least to introduce other foreign devices into the human body and this is so just like straight down the standard conspiracy theory line believable. Let's see they can't. This was a press release right from the Church success. Global Anti Christian system wants to introduce microchips into people's bodies with whose help they can control them through five g technology. The claim that Bill Gates you know of course everybody gates. He's new anti Christ. Once Obama left office and disappointingly wasn't the Anti Christ They find one quick. They've been looking trying. Different people on is but gates guy. Yeah so he's apparently the one behind creating this microchip technology And died they plan on introducing into the population through a covid vaccine? The the statement says quote vaccination introduces nanoparticles into the body. The react to the waves transmitted by five G. Technology and allow the system to control humans remotely. Wow what in the fuck where? It's what it's amazing. Listen there was a there was an article that came out. I actually talked about this on How TO HURTIG? There was an article that came out that said that forty percent of United States Republicans believe. That's true then the whole thing. There's like you know not necessarily the five G. or the whatever but like the Bill Gates is going to try and like Mo- microchip forty percent of Republicans in the US. Believe God this is just all somebody like Alex Jones has to do is just like think it up say and then everybody believes it whether this came directly from him or not but like his he did. He started he. Actually you did. He never never never mind any of that like this. Is I don't understand these conservative Christian types who are seemingly like what what what do they have against medical intervention and protecting themselves against something that maybe wouldn't hurt them specifically very much but that on a grand scale is going to hurt a lot of people. I'll tell you why not be part of the solution instead of and like the an seriously it's anything that comes down the pike with with covid nineteen. They're dead set against any of helping them. Whether it's masks of social distancing like Christianity is just better than that and it's like Yuck is wrong with you people because they're covered in Christ's blood which is so much better and they're they're safe there. It's all just a hoax anyway. Yeah unfortunately there's a far too much on the Internet and far too little far too few people who are able to actually think their way to Healthy thinking about anything these days so mask and why to me. What did T mobile do? How did they up well? I think that was another non. Somebody somebody just said. Hey Watch out for five G. The they're putting their crazy like. Why are you towers are being installed like what was it? And then at somebody just said it and all they have to say it and then everybody loses their goddamn minds. They're being trained to not believe any official story. That comes out so excited. They believe that what I don't understand is if you if you if you're so like unwilling to believe anything right that's real. What is it about the most crazy the most insane thing imaginable? Why is that the one you pick? Yeah have you read their book because I read a lot of their book? And it's like if you believe in that book than you expect crazy like that's how you think the is supposed to work is like insane machinations and evil coming from every every corner of the earth and so you see a five. G. Tower being put in your sight. Oh my God that's GonNa kill us. That's commonly kill us that Satan right there. I'm pretty sure you see them. Being installed around town like fucking everywhere. Yeah it's it's good it's The they're putting demons directly into the airwaves. Great
Trump and Twitter Go to War
"On Tuesday. This little thing popped up on twitter. Hyperlink under two of the president's tweets with the blue exclamation point. It's had get the facts about mail in ballots and if you clicked on the link it led to news articles. They explained that the president's tweets which claimed things like an according here. There is no way zero. That mail in ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent or in fact unsubstantiated. Wouldn't when you saw that. What was your reaction well? It's always surprising when twitter takes action. Twitter is the most slow moving of our tech companies and their Mo is to consider things for many years and then sort of come up with a half-measure after the fact. Let's Casey Newton. He's the Silicon Valley editor for the verge and he's written about twitter's decision making process a lot over the past few years how the company is dealt with online harassment. How they've been slow to remove people like conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and how since two thousand sixteen election twitter has been trying to figure out what to do when the president tweets something inaccurate especially about voting and I think a lot of people head Sort of given up on the idea that twitter whatever take any action because there had been so many previous trump tweets that seemed to some people to have gone over that line. Did you realize when you when you saw that notification is like a Man? This is going to be a thing. Yeah I think from the moments appeared online we all just brace ourselves for the trump outbursts. That was sure to follow And you know it arrived soon enough. The president's reaction to twitter's FAC was two-pronged. I there was the stuff that Casey expecting trump's tweets saying big tech with censoring him before the election and predictable news coverage then there was this other potentially much bigger deal. Thank you very much. We're here today to defend free speech from one of the greatest dangers last night just two days. After twitter applied fact links to his tweets trump signed an executive order. Therefore today I'm signing executive order to protect uphold the free speech and rights of the American people and this order could undo the legal underpinnings of how twitter and other social media companies. Do Business. My executive order calls for new regulations. Under section two thirty of the Communications Decency Act to make it that social media companies that engage in censoring or any political conduct will not be able to keep their liability. She'll review today on the show. Casey breaks down the fight between twitter and president trump. What it means when a social media platform tries to fact check the president and how trump's response has the potential to change the Internet for all of us.

The Generosity of Scars with Scott Mann
"I'm your host Alex Jones and today or conversation with Scott Man he's a retired green beret. Okay who is waging war against the loneliness epidemic by focusing on an answer that says old as time itself human connection and as as with most lessons of enduring value. This is one that Scott didn't learn in a textbook or in a classroom. It's one that he learned through pain through suffering suffering and through his own personal experience of rock bottom. Yeah I was standing in a closet. It is where I found myself my lowest moment coming out of the military holding loaded forty five pistol in my right hand and no intention of coming out of there alive. I had I stood there wonder. How in the heck I got to that point? You know. Just a few years earlier I had been a green beret. A career Green Beret. At the top of my game I had operated in at risk high-stakes places around the World Columbian Afghanistan and had led. You know very strategic missions and just in a short period of time just a couple of years. I had spiraled into this place where I was devoid of purpose. My mood swings were so unpredictable but that my wife and three sons would just literally get up and lead any room that I walked into my house awesome. I was starting to really question my relevance on this Earth that I had run my course you know my contributions were done and my time was over. There's just nothing left for me to give. The survivor's guilt had really come through strong the post traumatic stress. All the things that I had pushed down for years I once I got to this place where I was disconnected from purpose and and and really struggling then it came on full force and I just didn't know what to do with it. I had become severely isolated from Pierce Pierce in all of those factors created a very very nasty cocktail and so it sounds like you were in a place where you had literally lost. Hope for for the teacher. Yeah I think I think that's accurate. I had lost hope. And you know for a special operator. We pride ourselves at playing at the highest level and being super relevant to strategic situations. And I just couldn't see that relevance anymore and had it not been for the voice of my Middle Son Cooper out in the hallway I I heard his voice talking. He'd come home from school and it just totally jarred me and shocked me. I looked down at that pistol and I was just just so ashamed and so just at the bottom of the barrel when I saw that and and so on shuffled out of the closet. But I still wasn't where I needed to be. I mean there were many more moments like that that followed but that's the moment that sticks out in my mind and you know as as a point where in really I you know. I'll be honest with you. I never told that story. I I did it at a Ted talk just recently. Yeah I'd never talked about had not talked to my wife about. It had not talked to my kids about it because I had moved on. I'd found it was actually sharing. That story with a buddy who who was considering suicide himself had served in combat together so he told you this he did. We were at a conference for helping veterans transition and we pulled off to a corner and we were talking and he made it very clear that he was he was close to check it out. He told you that and at that point. Is that when you shared literally. That's the first time I had ever shared shared that story and when I did the color came back into his face I could see that he realized he was not isolated. And in that moment for just a moment I got a glimpse camps of what storytelling you know or what I call being generous with your scars. can do if you're doing the service of others and it was just a moment but I felt connected naked and there was something to that and so I just kind of kept pulling that thread for the next few years I started. I started pursuing storytelling and sharing lessons from my past in the military. That were not necessarily pleasant lessons but lessons where I had learned lessons where I had changed lessons that could serve other people and I used storytelling to do it and it really pulled me out of that dark place until finally just this past year. I made the decision to share that story about the clause in sole reason Alex's because because I've lost so many friends to suicide in the last few years were high-performers Navy Seals Green Berets. And I thought you know what if I can share my story about that dark place I was and it can help someone step into the sunlight. Let's do it you know I love that specific point where you tell your friend the story of where you had been. And you describe it as his eyes lighting up. Because it's like we've got two guys sitting in a corner of conference telling each other that they've both both had thoughts about ending their life. Yeah I would not think that that moment is when people's eyes start to light up but it sounds like something happens internally early in a person's heart and soul that I know the word you used was connection that creates connection absolutely you know one of the major things that I teach as a former the green beret in leadership around human connection. Is there certain things that draw us together right whether you're sitting down with a teammate from the military or whether you're sitting being across from a client where you're talking to your teenager struggle is a universal singular that binds us. I don't care what your religion is. What your ethnicity is is where you come from? We're all creatures of struggle. And if we have the courage to reach down and lead with our scars you know the things that scuff us up up in our life and we share those in the service of other people. It accelerates trusted accelerates connection and it makes you relatable to the people you serve and and their armor comes down and it's one of the most powerful tools that leaders can use today in almost none of them do and I love how you use the word scars so as we kinda China dive in to. How do we make this practical for people? I'd love for you to tell us. What is your personal definition of scar as it relates to all of this this and then how do people start to identify these in there so I started speaking in storytelling? As I came home. You know and using stories from my past brothers others. I'd served with lessons I'd launch. Did you ever think you would do whatever now acting. And and that's about a mid life crisis but all of that stuff you know do what scares you. I lost so many friends in combat and I think what they say to me still is hey manduwa scares you. Don't pull back because because they gave up so much at such an early point in their life that you know. I'm I'm still here. I'm still here and I'm still running and I think the best way that I can live a life that they'd be proud of is to do what scares me a healthy way. Yeah it's it's crazy to think about the fact like you've been shot at Scott and the thing that scares you is telling a story but you're you're being serious but you know there's a reason he's in that most people fear speaking more than death right in it's again it's because go back to human connection. We are status creatures. We worry about what the other people around us. I think it's how we've survived for for Millennia and so those things that we feel when we get up in front of people that we feel nervous about anxiety and our hands are sweating before that sales meeting or that call where we have to get up and give a keynote. Those were real physiological symptoms that we feel like we're GONNA die right. It's fight flight or freeze. The sympathetic nervous system is kicking in and the same thing. She fell in combat. It's the same symptoms right and it's because we don't want to be voted off the island so I started pursuing that it scared. May I love the way it felt. It had that familiar. Feel to run in missions. You know and so speaking to other rooms and groups of people in storytelling in particular. Just really let me up. I did a talk called rooftop leadership which really talks about how Green Berets go into these rough places and they helped villages to the rooftop and fight back and how does that work it it was a tedtalk and when I got invited a few years just recently to go back and talk about where the Ted speakers are now. I told the story of scars generosity of scarves because I wanted people to understand it from me. My rocket fuel in this world is it is that it is tapping into the struggle and leading what that struggle. That's how I define a scar and the scar you know webster in Google scholar is like a superficial mark on the skin. I define a scars mark on the soul. You know that has really scuffed us up but it has the potential to bind us to other people so our scars universal absolutely. They're absolutely absolutely universal. You won't find anyone that hasn't been scuffed up. That has an incurred those internal scars in their life. It's just part of living but what happens. Is We live in a society where we are conditioned to put those things away. Push those things down. Do not show those scars. Do the Selfie look at me. Look at what I've done. Look at what love accomplished in these five easy steps you can do. This people are so tired of that it's unwatchable we're already in a low trust society so if we're not willing to lead with our scars ars and be authentic in how we communicate where we've been in our life. It's very hard for people to follow where we're

"And we're back we're back and we're talking about Alex Jones. And we are I wanna get into how Alex Alex's chosen to brand info wars. Yes. Because it's really interesting to me. Are you talking about the weird red lettering knows very seems very off off style for him? It all seems off style to him. Like, you know, like Infowars life products, use terms like shield force defense, and it was all very militarized. It looked like like most of the practice on Infowars life. Look like something you might pick up a first person shooter video game as a power up. Like, sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Infowars guests looks like it's aimed at like middle aged housewives not that that's a bad thing. But like the picture of Alex Jones in the imports. Yes. Banner ad that I sent you guys. He's clean shaven. It looks like it was taken about fifteen years ago and the color tone is like a really light combing blue. It's not an yeah, he's safe and healthy young. Info wars. Yes. Because Infowars Tupperware was actually already taken. Did you guys know that info wars? Yes is a is an acronym. Yeah. It's like your youth enhancement system or something. I know a lot of things. Only know a little bit. So the youth enhancement system is the centerpiece of what genetic claims to offer Alex's fans in. So there's a bunch of different products that you're supposed to take for all of the different ways that you can get younger if you take the drugs, Alex Jones wants to sell you from this company, and the most striking product that I found is the Finnity pills which. You'll die someti- unity. It seems like the pictures on the pills or like young couples. They're doing everything they can the branding to make it look like this will make you live longer without actually lying and say that this will extend your life because then the FDA will get on their asses. There's laws about certain claims, but you can call a thing Finnity. Sanity and nowhere else. Rallying cry believe I'm gonna guess by the spelling the only reason they didn't go with Infinity is that that would have been like infringing on the cars. Copyright? He also has a brand of cars named Paula. He's got the policy and don't forget his undies. So I looked into the the ingredients of the Finnity pills because the seems to be the centerpiece of the strange life youth enhancement systems. Alex Jones is trying to sell includes astrologist root extract, which is supposed to be good for your immune system, and particularly famous for your heart. It's like a Chinese medicinal herb. But there are quote, no, high quality studies in people. So there's no evidence of any health benefits. It costs about two dollars and seventy five cents an ounce. Those coenzyme q ten which costs about twenty dollars for sixty pills. There's Fukuda and extract which is seaweed extract a little less than twenty bucks for sixty pills. There's Petero pure, which is an antioxidant found in blueberries, which is lightly cheaper than those other two pills. And then you know, like to Merick and a number of other very, very inexpensive. Herbs you guys when I guess the total price for sixty capsules of affinity. How much does a house? Call. We are all millennials. None of us know that. I'm gonna put it in just south of that. It is a one hundred and forty four ninety five for sixty capsules. Now. Now, you're supposed to take two a day. So that is basically more than an average cell phone Bill in order to get one set of the medications that they recommend you take with the the yes program. So that's fun. Phone doesn't make you young. No, it just gives you head cancer. So. Throw your phone away by Finnity. Now, she doesn't make you young as my favorite song from the seventies. You remember that one when it swept the swept of the charts? I should note for fairness that if you're a distributor, it's only one hundred and eight dollars a bottle. So this it's a steal. It's a steel. So that seems to be the angle Jones is going for here..

"And so we look at this stuff across the board and we say to ourselves, well, you know, this is this is really hurting conservative viewpoints in the liberty liberty movements viewpoints in those. I don't think that the Alex Jones is of the world, and this is kind of a sidebar because it doesn't really matter. But I don't really think the Alex Jones of the world really convert a lot of people. I think what they do is they are a sounding board for people who already believe the way Alex does. And so I don't. I don't think I don't think a lot of people who are hard core, the leftist end up coming in and listening to Alex Jones going off ching. I'm gonna completely change everything. Now I can't believe it. This guy's opened my eyes to the way the world really is. I just can't nine. Eleven is a conspiracy work. Government wasn't -volved. That doesn't hap-. Now what happens if somebody comes in there already pissed off at the world. And here they find a voice of somebody who say in what they, what they say or what they've always believed in hasn't ever been able to articulated, and he becomes their guy. So that's the way it normally works. Here's the point I will make, and I will give this to all of you who think there ought to be something on this. This is what I would say the same people, the same people on the left who would absolutely vilify you. If you refused service to somebody who you disagreed with because of race, color or religious belief, they would just chastise you if you owned a restaurant and refused service to one of those people are the same people who are applauding Facebook for getting rid of the Alex Jones. It's just words, Alex Jones never called for violence. He's never incited a riot to my knowledge. He's been there when riots happened, but but to my knowledge, Alex Jones has never gotten together. Got himself a little army of minions and gone out, and you know, and beat up a bunch of black folk. They call him a racist and I don't know. Maybe he is have no idea. I don't listen to his show enough to know, but no matter what he's never gone out and strong anybody up. He's never incited anybody to do that. He's just a loud obnoxious voice with a differing opinion and one that people really don't like because of the vitriol with which he shares it. Now that is no different than me, say owning a restaurant and saying, oh, you know what at the door are you conservative show me show me your voter, registration core, have done, say Republican on it. You can't come in. Well, they'd be outraged, there'd be new side of the people protesting out front. That's exactly what Facebook and YouTube redoing here. They're coming crossing. We don't like what you're saying. We have decided that it's hate speech and therefore yen allowed to do it anymore. That ladies and gentlemen is as a very little to do with. How do I say this? They are. They're acting extremely hypocritical in how they're applying applying there. I guess they're standards because the truth is if you shouldn't be allowed to discriminate, you shouldn't be allowed to discriminate. And what the this is the people say will were, does it stop? What's gonna keep you from somebody for taking you off the Jason? Nothing. Nothing. You know what I could do. Here's what I could do. And here's what Alex will try and do now that he's been kicked off all these platforms. If he wasn't smart enough to do it already should be doing it. Now is you get an internet, you get your internet out, your place of business, and you get yourself some private servers, and you run your own operation off your own servers, and you put it out to the world. And you can do it that way you can own from front to back everything. This is what I, this is what I tried to do very early on. When I started this show is that I built a studio, Iran, my sir. I had separate off site servers, but I ran to my own platform with my own player on my own website. We put it out on YouTube as well. But if you wanted to watch it live, you came to the website. Now I did that for a specific reason is I didn't know how people would respond to the message, and I didn't want somebody else having control and being able to shut me down..

"We'll get together and talk a little bit more, get some bubbly suds and just meet some other people here in the liberty movement. And so talk with those guys about doing something like that soon as well. But let's talk about Alex Jones. Now. I'm not you guys know me not the biggest Alex Jones fan in the world, not because I don't think he's a brilliant marketer, not because I don't think that he is right. About many of the things he discusses. I just don't like the way he delivers the message. I don't like the people who who intentionally create conspiracy in order to gain listenership and that's exactly what he does. I don't care whether you agree with me or not. I'm right. It's a beautiful marketing strategy where he takes the, he takes his story and he finds a way to hook it in with a little bit of truth to a broad widely held conspiracy theory, and he goes after, that's what he does. It's how he makes his money started out very early on with him, challenging local people in this community with this with a local TV station he was working with and then it moved up or maybe it was cable access on remember that it moved up to him standing outside. The were Bilderberg is held with a megaphone screaming at everybody who came in. And now he has millions of listeners and makes our had millions of listeners and made a significant amount of money off of selling a. Pyramid products. So he has some sort of like male vitality, sort of. That's how he makes his money. And that's how he pays for the studio is he has I explain to you how the entire system works because someone explained it to me a long time ago, the way Jones works as he buys access on on local radio station. So he has a lot of access on on local radio on pay to play. So there are radio stations out there where you can pay and it doesn't really matter what you it is you you talk about, you can pay to have your stuff on the air. So early on, I started this program. One of the things that I did was ice spent money to be on the radio in. I think the radio station was q. remember where it was incidence or California or something like that. But it had it had reached all the way to Los Angeles, and I took the five o'clock spot and broadcast the show five days a week at that five o'clock drive spot as so that I could say I was on the on the air in Los Angeles, like I had a radio program. That's what I wanted to be able to say. I want to say something more than I had a podcast because the four, four, five years ago, having a political podcast on the radio was a big deal. It was a lot more bigger deal than to say, oh, you have a podcast to be on the to be a radio show host was getting gave me some extra credibility and so I paid to be on there. Now, the guy who owned that station had done a lot of work with Alex Jones as crew over the years. And so he explained to me how it works. He has these male vitality, sort of like oils stuff that he sells, and it's all done through multilevel marketing. And so what he did was he went in and he put all of these local station managers underneath of him. And he said, anything that we sell when we run our commercials on your network, anything that comes in during that time we will put in your down line. If you understand the way multilevel marketing works. And a lot of these stations got ridiculously wealthy because a lot of people were listening to his show. They were tuning in for he has. A die hard following and a lot of them by stuff. And so he was not only getting the benefit of having this massive audience and selling these products, but also he was making money..

It's not just North Carolina I witness it firsthand and so the press itself Who you would think would want to hear all the, different opinions, no no no no, can't have three candidates, Senator abate only to. Only two and we will determine, what those questions are going to. Be? And who will be answering those questions and when you say. Wait a minute this isn't fair they say. It's private it's a private. Organization just like Facebook. And Google twit their private So. They're inoculated against all this and it's not censorship not. At all No they're working hand in glove with the government to. Make sure that only a couple of voices are. Heard seeing this happen this, is what's happening with social media right now as a matter of fact today we just got a tweet saying that one of the podcast providers that we have and we've got. For our show. For all the different shows have got at. Least four we had Stitcher they. Have just dropped all of our. Shows we had speaker itunes, tune in you can still find the, stuff there's a matter of. Fact was the people listen to my show listen to it, via podcast and so they've now just across the board, shut us down So we have to decide, whether or not The first. Amendment really means anything to us or not We can't mandate these types of things it's going to have to come from the people and you got more than half of the people right now? Are, begging the government to take away their free speech. Yes it's going to be. Their free speech as well not just our free speech they're gonna take away the freedom of the people who are begging to have, everything shut down some of them like the meat. Head they think maybe they will have the, inside track maybe they will be part of the insiders but the vast majority of the people, who are the useful idiots, of people like, rob Reiner the Hollywood and political establishment the media. Establishment those people are going to lose. Their free speech they're going to have that taken away Free, speech was never given to us never given to. Us we took our ancestors took it It didn't come. Down on high in the Bill of, rights it was given. To us by a supreme court It was taken taken by a jury Interesting p case of Zinger. Who was John Peterson in New York It was up for defamation isn't that interesting that's the. Way they always come after speech to. Try to shut it down that's what they are doing right. Now, trying to shut us, down, with, charges of defamation so, forth anyway what he said. Was hey look here's, what I said and, here's how it's true and, the judge said truth is no defense You know doesn't matter That Forbes Alex Jones was the guy that pushed a kid to the ground video that. We happen, to show I mean it was a kid who has blamed the guy round, and it was a it. Was, a joke video finally the adult had enough. Push the kid down he just collapses in, a heap and cries and it. Wasn't a big deal we're just showing how the kid was a baby. About the, whole thing But in that video Forbes said look, that was Alex Jones and so now he's got all these people thinking that he was, a person in the video is obviously not Alex Jones but truth is no defense how do we. Get the, free speech it was when the jury said no even though the judge says, truth is no defense we. Think, it is we think it is and the. Jury nullified that judge the jury nullified that, law just as a jury nullified. The laws against the free exercise of religion in England with William Penn It was a jury that nullified that law It was. Clearly against the law for, them to meet they'd pass a law saying you're only going to. Meet in this particular. Church church, of England these people were Quakers they said. You can't meet in that. Quaker church anymore they continue. To do it so they padlock the door so then they started, holding meetings on the steps of the church and then they. Arrested William Penn who later came to Pennsylvania And they said when they took him to trial the jury said well we understand that's the. Law, judge but we don't, like that and we're not going to convict, him we've had, that, happen with alcohol prohibition it's one of the reasons why at, that scheme collapsed. We've had it happened now with marijuana prohibition and other, drug prohibitions so jury side we don't like. That law we're not gonna convicted so the judge locked up the, foreman bushel and another man kept him in jail for quite some time, finally their lawyers said shorts the law that they. Violated established habeas corpus and they said well there isn't. Any law and they let, them go.
