"At downtown Saint Louis Alex Ferrario with US tonight, the cardinals start the first of three against the San Diego Padres. We'll hear from manager Mike Shilton just a couple of minutes. But now we welcome in former cardinals pitcher Kyle McClellan to get tonight's game plan. And Kyle after four of nine pushed eighty might say this is the perfect time to get out onto the road. Yeah. Definitely anytime you go the west coast. It's there's challenges. It's a long flight. Definitely the time change. I remember you wake up in the hotel, and I used to get typically guys sleep in pretty late. So I have to wake up there and it's like eight thirty in the morning. And I'm like this is a good maybe going back to bed or figure something out a lot longer, but they had the to kind of just a little bit and they have nine days out there to kind of get acclimated eight thirty in the morning. Mental clock saying it's ten thirty in the morning and like, oh, I've missed everything. You gotta think Kyle as a player, it's gotta feel. Nice to be out on the road after the long homestand that, that was where you split with Miami. He had the pool halls weekend. And then, of course you, you blow the two games against the Oakland Athletics being out on the road for nine games going into an all-star break might be great for the team get back on the road. You know, a lot of times they're having meals with guys get back together, kind of as a team if you know, you're heading into the all star break. I think you kind of sense that, you know, you're planning that out definitely your family's planning that out get back. We're going to come up with something to do here for the all star break. So I think you're at that point of the season. But I, I always enjoy the road, as well where you get to go out there and have some of that team bonding time when you get when you're at home. Everybody's on their own schedule. When you're on the road, everybody's on the same scheduling, it usually includes a lot of group dinners and things like that. So it's a good time to bond and get back together. And, and at this point, you know, these guys are probably talking about it. What, what do we need to do to get to the next level, so that we can get things clicking? And give us give us an opportunity here at the trade deadline and passed that make a push. Postseason. We're, we're getting close to that time. Yeah. You really look at this road trip, don't you or you need to take six of nine seven of nine. You need something. Big like that to, to, to ease everyone's concern coming off of this road trip. Yeah. I think so I think that's that that's definitely a realistic number for these guys, if they can come out of here, you know, winning all three of these series. I, I think it's huge in, even if, if they have a little, you know, they can sweep some of these, they definitely need to come out well above five hundred and I, I think either teams that they can do that again. And in series that they certainly should win. Well, and you also feel like these guys are going to go out there and play for their manager after what he did in the Wednesday game against the athletes were stuck up for his team visibly frustrated, but as a player and I know fans are frustrated from the standpoint of thinking that he's complaining about the the the bad times in the good times. But as a player, you love it, when your manager sticks up for you. And that's why he did. He look Mike shield knows they're not playing. They are planning to clean baseball. I'll give them avid defensively and base running wise. It's a much different brand of baseball. And we've seen the last few years, they hitting side. They're struggling the pitching's been better. He referenced that he knows that, but he also knows that he's going bathroom his and his guys appreciate that, you know that they they're trying to take some pressure off him. And from him for a manager standpoint you have to say, how do I help my guys perform the best? If that means going out there and taking on some of the responsibilities of a loaf. And that's what's gotta do. When you look at these three upcoming series. Kyle this one to me is the most intriguing one because Seattle's just kind of okay, they're mediocre, even though they didn't just find a way to beat Milwaukee. And then you also have San Francisco at the bottom, but San Diego, they're forty and forty but they have players right now. Kyle who can do some damage. Of course, we all know about Manny Machado, Fernando Totti's junior. He is really good to all of these themes, especially you know, I do not like playing teams that are out of it when you. Get into September because you've got your September, call ups, you have these young talent that Hungary and at this team, I think all of these things have a lot of young talent. They look they're professional. They can go out there. And at the any day of the week, but, you know, over the course of a series, of course the season you would expect to go out and beat these teams more times than not. So it's a it's a big for them to get off to a great start site. Set the tone for this road trip and go out and take care and in, what's your thoughts on Michael? Walk coming off a really good performance. Kyle against the angels six innings one run given up and you're hoping that the two of the last three games are the common factor for wocka. Yeah. He was great. He was really good again. Anaheim. And you know he was he's keeping the ball out of the middle of plate. San Diego's, definitely a park that is comfortable for pitchers pitch in. So for him to go out there. You continue what he's doing to keep the ball down. Keep it on the edges and keep the ball in the ballpark when he's got in trouble. It's from giving up home runs and it'd get behind and really giving up some hard contact. Sandiego. Allow him to get away with a little bit more because of the ballpark there. But if he can just continue what he's done of his last three starts come back arts Asian. He should have a successful night. That's the game plan with former cardinals pitcher Kyle McClellan always bringing to us brought to you by stub hub in the Fisher partner. The Saint Louis cardinals. Thank you. Kyle as we check in and are Bayer farm report. We check in on two guys headed to the futures game. As the next pitch comes in from Eric, John Lewis. There's rocket to deep right field. Look out, performance, I might go in the sweet. And it does that was a long bomb by Gorman number three in the competition. No one Gorman in the home run derby, when he was with the Peoria chiefs. And then there's this guy. Dylan Carlson, Utah, batting right handed against the lefty. Yeah, the first one of the switch it at center fielder is crushed at eight centerfield Dawson back. Doing cold. And on the voice of the Olsen. Sweats field ahead woman, opaqueness Carlson Gorman, will represent the cardinals at the futures game during the all star break. That's her Bayer farm report. Proud supporter of America's farmers will come back and take a deeper look at the lineup for tonight's match up next Alex Ferrario with you on the total access pre-game show on the Saint Louis cardinals radio network. The cardinals host the Arizona Diamondbacks July twelfth through the fourteenth.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Daily: Blues push Sharks to the brink

"Us now after a big Blue's win in San Jose. Alex Ferrario thanks for coming on overnight, America. Well right now. Right. I'm so inept up. I'll come on, anytime you want. At this point, I'm getting sick of all the San Jose fans. It's like Crimea river already. So the blues after the debacle with the NHL, who has since admitted they made a mistake, when it came to the hand pass, the have come out swinging. They've only lit up one goal in the last two games a big five nothing victory today in San Jose with game. The next game game six coming to Saint Louis on Tuesday night. I wanna get your impressions of this big game five victory. What are your thoughts? Well, honestly if surprised at how much they dominated the betas as sharks, you know, I'd go back to that game six against the one picked. Yes, Ryan, where what was on the brink of elimination and blues held them to two or three shots. I believe through the first two periods of the game. And you know this I think was the biggest game of the season for both teams. I mean, I don't think either side what's to be down three to two in the series, and especially now that it's coming back to St Louis where the blues can eliminate San Jose Sharks, where they're two for two and elimination games playing in St Louis. So I was very surprised at how much the Blu Ray able to dominate San Jose Sharks. But the end of the day you just gotta take into the Packers. I mean Jordan bidding to outstanding for the shot that he did see the blue defense was even better limiting David n shots. The final two periods of the game. But at the end of the day, I mean, the blues have gotten to stand. Jose sharks. They're in their head. I mean I you have an air Carlson was injured. Didn't play the third period. Philosophy hurdle is injured and didn't play in the third period and then three other guys left early in the third period, two of them because they tried to get fancy a nasty with their place. So they were down to nine eight or eight skaters at the end of the hockey game. So I mean, the blues just completely dominated Ryan, and they got into the day, sharks his head. And, you know, I think right now the sharks are way way big underdogs going into Tuesday night in in game. Six. Yeah. And the way that the blues have just been able to play their game. They're playing solid hockey in. It's just amazing to see how they could smother the opportunities of the opponent. We saw towards the end of the last series. And now we're seeing with the given a very limited shots and even quality shots against San Jose. So comes back here. And I think the blues got the eye of the tiger. You know how exciting this is for Saint Louis to know we could close this out and go to the Stanley Cup finals on home ice. I know the pressure is there, but the blues are looking so good. Yeah, they really are. And I mean you know you gotta take him to the consideration. Some of the other things from the game today to Ryan you know, the offense terrorists Saco with three point four points. But the goal in to assist James sports with another hat trick. I mean, we spent we spent so much time throughout the postseason talking about where the big names are where the top scores are. And now they're starting to show their faces against the San Jose Sharks team. And this is huge coming back to say Lewis because not only are you going for an elimination game while you're trying to do something that hasn't been done since nineteen seventy I mean, think about that, for a minute, almost fifty years since the blues have been in a Stanley Cup final, and they could police their spot to go to that on Tuesday night in Saint Louis and taking a consideration. Everything that took place that season from firing Mike, yo to bringing in Craig ruby as the interim head coach and springing up, Jordan Bennington. And fighting through adversity and fighting through everybody. That said there's no chance of loose can do this. And now they're about to push their ticket to the family Cup finalists. Just incredible. Think about in. I mean, honestly, it gives me goosebumps to think about how loud enterprise center, we'll be back to twenty sixteen. When the blues eliminated Chicago Blackhawks from the playoffs in the first round and means that place blew the roof off of the Scott Trade Center at the time. Yeah, multiply that a hundred if they pull out a victory on Tuesday night, and I think it's a big if because look San Jose Sharks knack for gets the wall. And if they could find a way to get their injured is in the lineup. They're going to be dangerous team to deal with plus the watch party that they had is a pretty good indicator. The fans are just ready man. They are a Hong grief for this. How cool was it to see that? Yeah. Yeah. Petrocelli are phenomenal food assistance through regular season. In most seasons. That'd be a video. He was there. And from what I understand they sold out that enterprise, and now they weren't selling out tickets for the top fortune. They were telling them for the lower portion, but you said that they were sold out that place was loud, that place was Brockie in, in the top dad. Both part of village was shoulder to shoulder from what I understand watching those games. So the city is guiding for a Stanley Cup championship. The city is dying to be in the finals and to be in there is one thing. Let's do it with the storyline that the blues put together this season. I mean, if you think about it Ryan this could go down. If the blues were to accomplish this daily come this could go down as one of the best duck and tap run in the history of the National Hockey him, it could go down as one of the best seasons in the National Hockey League for a team that was. Last in the NHL January stuck in considered to be done talking about trading away their top players. And now you're sitting here talking about playing the Boston Bruins in the first earned the final round of the Stanley Cup playoff just on real to think about it is really is. So this is really unreal. Five wins is all it's gonna take now five wins to be that close considering where we were just in January. So I wanted to talk to you about the game. That's on Tuesday night. The blues have been looking great ever since that hand pass man. They've been ignited they got that either tiger going on. What are you looking for on Tuesday night here in Saint Louis? Oh, you're gonna have to look for them to be responsible. Because like I mentioned San Jose is going to be a very dangerous team. I mean look they're one of the highest scoring teams of the regular season in the postseason for the NHL and you know that all centers around what will happen with Erik Carlson. I found it really interesting today after the game, you know, was asked if he looks back on his decision of playing Eric Carlson and regrets it. And, you know, he said hindsight, you can't really sit there. But you got to do it all over again. Yeah, you probably would have spread Carlson because of that nagging groin injury and didn't play the third period. So look, you gotta wait to find out what the lineup it'd be a look like if we're gonna have a Carlson Belsky hurdle looking to any of those big time players for the game. But, you know, Tuesday's gonna come down to the blues remaining focused on what they're trying to accomplish. You know, these guys have talked about how big it was Craig ruby to come into the locker room after game three without hand fast and tell them it's done move on. Get ready for this one. And I think that is the reason why the team is where they are right now trying to win. It's hard to go to Stanley Cup. Yeah. You know, it's, it's going to have to be ready for that game going gonna have to be ready for a hard push from the San Jose Sharks in the first period. But who's got the fan side behind him. They got the whole night's behind them enough to click. So I think if they just do what they've done so far this season. And then in the postseason, I again I know it sounds dumb, but simple hockey is what's going to win the series for them. I gotta say that Tarasenko shootout goal Goldman or the penalty. Schott. What a laser shot from him man. And I think that these players I mean they're going out there and you saw kind of a balancing act. Sometimes you see the star player step up and sometimes you see the role player step up. You've had a pretty good mix of that going in which is pretty good indicator. Plus, you've got a great backstop with Bennington that's been playing well what an exciting time. Can I just vent about one thing? I'm so. Sick of NBC in their coverage of this, you know, every time they go back to their analysis. They could care less about Saint Louis, you know, they, they focus, here's what San Jose's doing wrong in. Here's their chances of coming back. They could care less about Saint Louis. I'm getting so sick of this. Yeah. Me. You know what I guess I should say surprise me those kinda surprised because if you look at the TV ratings in this in the previous game and really throughout the playoffs Louis is dominated television ratings for these days, which goes to show you that people in St Louis care, the people outside of St Louis, tear keeping more about watching this thing. Sixteen people saying they don't even really care about hockey. They were going after the third goal scoring. I know on afternoon. So but you know what? What's four frustrating to me is just the consistent. I dunno pumping the tires of players like Joe Thornton, and players like jokes Avella ski and Logan. The tour. I, I mean just any chance, they get the talking about how great it would be killed when a Stanley Cup for the amount of time. He's been in the NHL what's up forget about Jake Bohm Easter who's been in the NHL just as long as Joe Thornton, who's never wanna Stanley Cup. I think that's a very intriguing side of it. And then you're. Talking about Logan could tour with his eleven goals in the postseason, which is, you know, high up there since two thousand ten with Alex. Oh, betchine's. Well, let's look at Jay Schwartz. Who's one goal away from tying a blues record for most postseason goals with bread home. And I like I get it. You wanna California team in there if you're NBC, and you want the California Boston, west coast, east coast at the end of the day they never wanna Stanley Cup was dying for Stanley Cup.

"Let's go to Alex Ferrario at the Newbold BMW Toyota, sports, desk, fake, George cardinals and blues in action this afternoon. As the game five of the Stanley Cup Western Conference final gets underway. The cardinals gopher a series win against the Texas Rangers. Let's start with cartels. They were inaction last night after a two hour. Rain delay delayed the start for Tacoma Hudson who was impressive. That's income set and delivers again to Santana and there's a called strike three top of the zone. He gets his man Santana for the second time strikeout number five six innings to earn runs for coda Hudson. A five run fifth inning sparked by offense from that carpenter. Paul, D young and yada or Molina. The cardinals went onto an eight two win. Also Carlos Martinez made his debut. Here's a swing amass Martinez. Struck him out taking something off the pitch down on the way. Oh door. Strikes up. Martinez gets his first man of twenty nineteen lean ninth inning. Here's Mike Scheldt fan base, you know, it's really nice to to go on the road and have that kind of supporting we don't take for granted. We really appreciate it. So it'll be Jack Flaherty on the mile and this afternoon against drew smiley, two oh five first pitch. Amer in total access pregame show at one ten blues and sharks later on this afternoon game five of the Western Conference final as the blues look to take it three two series lead over the sharks back out onto the road. Here's head coach Craig ruby. There's times where we gotta look back and think about all the adverse we have become to get ruler at being resilient and we use that word quite a bit relentless and just keep going. He also said, there will be no Vince known on this trip. So it looks to be Carl gunnison back. Into the lineup. One thirty our pre game skate on y ninety eight puck drop a little after two o'clock, with Chris Kerber in Joey V talion finally an update from Bethpage. Here's Dan Reardon kept got turned in even par seventy in round three on Saturday and owns a record seven shot lead at twelve under par KEPCO will be paired with herald, Varna, the third who's three under sixty seven Matt's. The best round on Saturday, Dustin Johnson, Luke list, and jazz, John also of the sixty seven all sit at five under a win by KEPCO would make back the back major wins in the US open, and the PGA championships, a feat, never accomplished.

"Alex, Ferrario alone with Amy Mark scores. After twenty minutes of hockey, the blues trail, the San Jose Sharks two to nothing and Amy what started off to look like the blues are going to dominate that first period, which they did in the first five six minutes of the game. One penalty on David piranha tripping. Call in the offense of zone suck the life out Puckett's been done and things go all Saint Jose's way. What the blues one into do in this game was get to their gain. I, and I know that's a cliche. That's what every hockey team will tell you. But when the blue say actually mean it because they've struggled in at home at enterprise center getting to their game. They kind of sit back they'd try to feel out the opposition before they actually get to the style that they wanna play we saw that in game one on the road uncharacteristically the blues had a slow start that really that full game. It was like they were waiting for San Jose to establish the style they were going to. Play. And the blues were going to adjust responded at talk to Ryan Reilly earlier this morning, and he said, you know, there is something to be said for jesting to the type of game that you're Ponant place at the same time you want to get to your game focus on your style of play and make them do the adjusting. We saw that in the first few minutes. The first six seven minutes of this game. The St Louis blues were dictating the pace of play the Saint Louis blues for getting the best chances the best scoring opportunities. You thought. Okay, they're getting to where they need to be. This is a good sign and then a couple of defensive miscues that puck management in their defensive zone. Came back to bite him. And you just kind of felt things on Ravel. Will they sorted it off to lay in the hits? I mean, you could tell the blues got under the skin of San Jose Sharks Carlson gets hit on the board by Sammy Blais. He's doing a little extracurriculars with Sammy play you had the same with the Vander. Cain guys getting frustrated with the hits and Amy. We talked about in the pre game show meaningless hits. You have to have something behind those whether it's puck possession turnover. Finding ways to do it twenty two to four the blues lead in hits. But you have to wonder where some of those just endless hits where they were just trying to hit the guy rather than what? Brayden Schenn talked about. I don't have as big of an issue with hits at the blues are throwing I think for the most part they've been released Mark they've been throwing the hits that are there. And let's go back to the blues were doing right at the beginning of the period, they were aggressive on the four check. And that last really strong play that the blues have you saw Pat Marrone almost force the turnover. He was strong on the four check will then the San Jose Sharks day, go the other way, and you've got done school and Healy in. Credibly aggressive on the four check you had two forwards deep below the goal line. And I believe it was Joel Edmonson who was faced with both don'ts going Haley. You get a turnover and then air Carlson's right there skating across the blue line. Is there at the point he's able to take a shot Andy scores and that air Carlson goal was catalyzed by the aggressive for check of the San Jose Sharks feeling that was there then adapting to the blue style of saying, okay? We're gonna do that better. S-curves told us told us at the end of that period, ten minutes and fifty one seconds the final of that zero shots on goal for Saint Louis only one shot thirteen o eight at the end of that first period and a lot of that can be because that penalty that sucked the life because David Bryant even though the blues kill that off. But Amy, a really scary moment with Vince done getting hit in the mouth looked like as he immediately went to the bench and stumbles onto the benches Joey tally was telling curbs and something that you really concerned about he didn't come back, obviously. But. That's more scary in terms of personal than it is for the hockey game. Yeah. You gotta hope.

"Report. Alex Ferrario back with you before we start the third period. Curbs and Joey standing by from Dallas blues on top of the stars right now. Two to one real quick our enterprise rent a car driver on the league tomorrow night, you have to limitation games as Boston tries to close it out. They lead the series three two over the blue jackets. You also have the sharks trying to close it out to the avalanche three two in that will be in Colorado. And then I'm being up domestic because I well, I can be and I know it's going to happen game. Seventy back in Saint Louis on Tuesday night for a game seven real quick before we go back out to curbs and Joey a couple of other notes to look at going into this third period. You look at the ice time right now. Colton Perico fourteen minutes, forty eight seconds of ice time. Same with j Beaumont or fourteen forty eight Alex portraying slow sixteen fifty nine watch for those three to increase their amount of minutes in these final twenty minutes of hockey because you're gonna. To be seeing a lot of Jamie ban. A lot of Radulovich a lot of Sagan sticking with that combined. First line, they're going back to from the first couple of games. You're also gonna see a lot of Matsue Carello. And I think you'll see the matchup of petro, and and against that zuccarello line with Perico and Bom Stor matching up against that Ben Reggie off and say guideline, and then look closely that is to some of the numbers for guys like Ryan Reilly, fourteen thirty seven in terms of forward to leads the team right behind him. You have Jaden Schwartz with eleven minutes and forty six seconds twelve six for Brayden Schenn, Vladimir Tarasenko for twelve minutes and nineteen seconds. Again. It's a two one lead right now for the Saint Louis blues. Jordan Bennington has stopped fifteen of sixteen shots from the Dallas Stars is going to see a lot more work. You're starting in the third period. And again, the number I gave to you in the previous segment the team that leads after the after I two periods has gone on to win every single game. So far in this series between the blues and star. So we head back out to Dan. Now, we go back to curbs and Joey for a huge huge third period between the blues in Dallas Stars to one lead for Saint Louis. Let's see if they can add onto it. K, alex. "Alex Ferrario back with you a six four final score cardinals defeat the Mets and what a night what a day, I should say. It has been coda Hudson. His first win of the season three solo home runs but still locked down against the New York. Mets bullpen outstanding once again, and of course, the offense being the offense we all expect from this cardinals roster, but then you get to Jordan Hicks. And again, it's the fifth save of the season for the cardinals closer. And when you look at the saves leaderboard. He's only five behind Sean green from Detroit who has the most saves on the season. And right now, Jordan Hicks with a two ERA one win one loss five saves nine innings pitched five hits to earn runs. But when you look at it first of all this was the first appearance by Hicks since April fourteenth crazy to think that he hasn't had appearance. Since. Seven days ago, which is incredible to me, but his fifth straight saving v. Five straight appearances. He has not given up a run since March thirty first in that March thirty first game was his only loss of the season where we only made it a third of an inning three hits to earn runs. And that was against the Milwaukee Brewers when he blew the save. But since then he's been locked him. He's only allowed one hit through total a seven and two third innings for walks and seven strikeouts. And of course, his fifth save of the season. And that's our look at the saves leaderboard, which is brought to you by Missouri farm bureau insurance, we aren't Missouri farm bureau insurance. And if you're a Missouri him, we are for you. So now, it's the cardinals await the Milwaukee Brewers to come into Saint Louis. Four little match up tomorrow night here at Busch stadium in Milwaukee Brewers lost the dodgers today six to five, but we all know Milwaukee has had a lot of success so far this season against Saint Louis, Milwaukee thirteen and ten on the year cardinals twelve and nine they have not announced to the starting pitcher is on their side. But we do know Jack flared de will be starting for the cardinals tomorrow night. And then the rest of the series will be Michael Walker on Tuesday, Adam Wainwright on Wednesday and that will wrap up that three game series. But it's a first pitch tomorrow night..

"Why not? Put it on Jordan Bennington. Andrew ghetto is going to be the shooter for the Colorado Avalanche. Fifty percent news career in shootouts. But he's only taking four shots. He brings it in on Bennington. Saint Louis blues. Second place in the central. And if nothing else for at least, another eleven and a half minutes in Chicago, they're tied for first in the central division. No way we were going to let a guy named Ben beat us tonight, right, folks. No way at all final time on the tax layer post game show, Alex Ferrario with you. That's our Bud Light play of the game. The final say from Bennington to hold onto that three two. Shootout win over the Colorado Avalanche. So one point four Colorado puts them at eighty six on the year three points behind the Dallas Stars but holding on safely to that wildcard spot. I say safely because there was not an action tonight, but Arizona will be in action to Morrow when they take on the L A kings. What happens when your cellphone freezes, folks? So it'll be kings in Arizona coyotes tomorrow and actually there are five playoff spots still to be claimed three in the east, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Carolina and Montreal battling for those final three spots in. There are two spots in the. West fourteen. I'm sorry. Five teams that are battling for those Dallas, Colorado. Arizona Minnesota in slightly Chicago doesn't help that they lost today or tonight, I should say against the Winnipeg Jets but still officially in statistically alive. When it comes to the postseason games around. The league are final enterprise. Check around the NHL Golden Knights beating the Oilers to one with eleven minutes to go in the second a to hockey game between the flames and kings with fourteen minutes ago in the second period games, officially wrapped up tonight. Panthers. Beat the capitals five to three devils beat the Rangers. Four two Maple Leafs beat the islanders to to want us to bear as a goal against his former team in New York. Lightning beat the senators five two and the final score in overtime. Winnipeg Jets beat the Blackhawks four to three so one more look at the standings before we get out of here tonight Winnipeg with ninety six points ninety eight points after their win tonight. And I believe eighty games to play. So they'll have to left blues now with ninety four and three games to be played. Seventy nine points are seventy nine games in ninety four points for the Nashville predators for the first three spots in the central division and wildcard eighty nine point seventy nine games for Dallas eighty six point seventy nine games. Played for Colorado. Eighty four points for Arizona Eighty-one for Minnesota in eighty for the Chicago Blackhawks again, our final enterprise drive around the league, and that is going to wrap it up for us tonight here on the tax slayer post game show in the blues defeat the avalanche. Three two. We'll be back in action on a Wednesday out in Chicago as the final road game of the season for the Saint Louis blues before they come home for two more headed into postseason action. So for Chris Kerber for Joe tally for any Mark scores and Patrick Kelly. And of course, Ryan Solti and Mike Anderson for all of their help this evening. Alex ferrario? Thank you for joining us blues. Win over Colorado. Three two in a shootout. Don't go anywhere, though, check it. A check us out on our flagship station came lex, plenty more hockey conversation. In the fourth period starts in just a bit until eleven o'clock. So for everyone mentioned amounts. Ferrari, I have a great night. We'll talk to you Wednesday blues and hawks right here on the Saint Louis blues radio network. If I scored a goal like that in my career, I would watch religiously every night and just say myself who's the man me?.

"Alex Ferrario with you on the cardinals radio network. And boy have we missed the Sunday afternoon. Baseball games. And luckily cardinals will do it today against the Milwaukee Brewers. Lots to get into today on our Amer and total access pre-game show after the cardinals fell to the Bruecker yesterday. Four to two to coda Hudson faltered a little bit only going for in a third six strikeouts, though. But it's the home run ball that seems to be biting the cardinals in the rear end in the early portion of the season. But some positives Paul Goldschmidt, still hitting the ball. Colton Wong right now. Six for ten and the bullpen locked down as you had yesterday Dominick Leone appearing along with a couple of others in the cardinals were able to keep it close but fell to the brewers four to two today. It's Michael Walker making his two thousand nineteen debut taking on a roll. Rookie on the broo- crews side cardinals. We'll see if they can have their starter. Go a little deeper into the game today on Rammer and total access pregame show. We'll talk about Colton Wong's. Impressive. Start with Kyle McClellan will get his game plan as well might clayborn chats with Derek Gould as the first series of two thousand and nineteen ramps up today. We'll hear from John mosaic will also hear from John Hayman with our reporters notebook to talk about who the best team is right now in the central and in the National League. But as I mentioned Michael Walker taking the mound this afternoon making his debut after having a season cut short last year, but being very impressive in spring training.

"Alex Ferrario with you and happy to have you along for part two of the central division matchup that heads to smash Ville after a blues three to win yesterday here in Saint Louis yesterday. Boy, it was a close to a playoff game is this team has had all season long. And in a sure to be even tougher for this blues team that is playing their third game in four days Nashville, they've been good at home. But this blues team has been even better on the road seven three including a four game win streak on the road. Going back to the beginning of January in a road warrior will return to the lineup this afternoon in Jake, Alan Alan's. I start in seven games an area of expertise. You would say as he sits with a ninety two save percentage and a very low goals against. Average. We'll chat with Jake. Al little bit later on today in our pre game skate will also get a deeper look at the dynamic line of Hsien tear, Sankoh Ando Riley, Craig ruby joins Chris Kerber for the boardwalk hardwood, floors coaches show, and John Kelly is our hockey mind for today, but let's get this bowel started with the first book from the Bridgestone arena for post-dispatch storylines the game with Chris Kerber, enjoy vitality. Alex sounds like he was out with us last night. Back slowly. But surely. Goodness. We'll pick up the slack here. Better. Well, you know, I it sounds less like, I'm being strangled. But it's getting back. You know, guys. I had so much herbal tea yesterday. It's not even funny. He's about to crack through puberty right there on we got. Well. Rested for got you covered here for a moment. I got the blues we've got the predators. And these two teams play in the fourth head to head meeting of the season the blues winning yesterday. Join the tally that was a nasty physical game the amount of stickwork the amount of crosschecks the amount of pounding. But some of these guys took they know that they were in a hockey game. There was not a whole lot of time to rehab the body to get ready for this one wasn't. I didn't expect that kind of start or that kind of style a game, you know, an afternoon game blues back at home in some ways you expect a softer game. Maybe a little bit more less running gone. But right out of the get go yesterday. Brayden Schenn off the opening dry loved the energy. He's going at Arvidsson right there. PK ban gets involved. The whole benches standing up that's the kind of energy to blues need they need in that game. Pat. Maroon followed up.

"Here's Alex Ferrario. Thank you. It was not a good night over at enterprise center as the blues fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins by a score of six to one. And it got out of hand quick forty-three seconds into the game. Sidney Crosby picked up the goal, and then from there it just kind of fell apart as the blues would make it a three-goal hockey game with David Perron scored in the second period. But overall blues unable to find an answer for Matt Marian. Once again looked out of sorts on the ice the blues now have lost four of their last eight home games at enterprise center allowing six or more goals, they still have been unable to get to a three game losing streak and over the past four losses including last night in between those losses. The blues have had five wins, including three games or they've allowed just one goal. Sit things really out of sort for Saint Louis last night. But none more than the special teams the power play went. Oh for two in the penalty. Kill went for four. Here's head coach Craig ruby. It's hard to take a positive out of the six one game. Like that. You know, we we gotta clean up our penalty. Kill. We got. We got to get our special teams going again in the right direction. Powerplays gotta be better to well. The bluest reset and get set for the New York Rangers on Monday night, a little New Year's Eve hockey, six o'clock puck drop at enterprise center, which we will have your pre game skate starting at five thirty here on KOMO Malek's college basketball, Mizzou beat Moorhead state seventy five to sixty one as they pick up their night victory of the season next up. They start S E C play against Tennessee on January eighth. You also had the fighting allied. I lose an overtime to f a seventy three seventy one final score therefore and nine on the season. And then later on this afternoon, you have the Billiton's taking on Appalachian state over at Shaef. It's arena. College basketball. It will be Alabama taking on Clemson. In in the championship game on January, seventh as Clemson beat Notre Dame and Alabama beat Oklahoma. You also had Florida beat Michigan forty-one fifteen of the chick filet peach bowl, and you had Virginia beat South Carolina. Twenty eight to nothing sports on a Sunday this morning with by clayborn from ten to noon, he'll talk twenty eight eighteen blues hockey with Jeremy Rutherford of the athletic..

"Alex Ferrario Aimee Marx scores with you second intermission. As the blues allow a goal there in the second period to nothing trailing the Washington Capitals. And Amy, I know Chris, and John and Joey all just talked a lot about that power play there. But that's a huge opportunity that they missed out on a five on three for two minutes. Yeah. You hate to see that especially you've got last season in your mind. Yes. And how they struggled on the power plane, especially struggled even five on three. And we sit up here in the stands. We wonder. Okay. What's going on? How can you not get more chances on the five on three? Well, as curb said, they don't have an identity right now on the power play. So whether it's a five on four or five on three you can see they're struggling there's not that rhythm there. I will say it's it's less predictable than what it was last season last season towards the end of the year. Amy, it got to the point where you knew what was going to happen. You knew where the passes were going. You knew in the shot was happening. It was taking too long this time. And I know it's only been a short sample size. But at least they're making different moves in what they've made in the past. They are. And it's interesting because we talked about the predictability of last year. And obviously big part of that is there are I shouldn't say big part of that something that we were looking at lefties on that power play. I mean, you look at Jaden Schwartz a lefty Vladimir Tarasenko. Brayden Schenn, obviously now o'reilly's electing Maroons lefty any wonder it's kind of interesting you look at some of the more successful powerplays. And they've got that blend like the Washington Capitals right here. You've got the wet three righties. Yeah. And to lefties on their power play. And so you wonder okay. Well, how does that work out? Obviously, it's not all about the shot. You can still get some some variety in the power play. But they definitely need to figure that out. This scheme is too close. There's too much parity in the league and one opportunity on special teams can make or break a game. Yeah. No, it's true. And I know rhino Riley is a lefty, but look Amy whether it was the power play on five on five. He has been the star of this game. So far. I mean, he said three different opportunities to score in the biggest one was the backhand second shift that had on Copley and who let Patrick law in the building. I mean, Phoenix Copley right now is robbing the blues of every single opportunity if you had some great scoring chances. I mean point blink shot to edit. Does it you we were almost kind of laughing about it? Like you said who let. So he's obviously standing on his head which is frustrating for the screw because the blues really have had some great scoring chances where you can see maybe it's not their cleanest game. But those opportunities that they're creating or less because of mistakes on the part of the Washington Capitals, but did timing and execution by the line. That's on the ice and look rhino. Riley is I mean, he was the most talked about around the league when that trade happened between the Buffalo Sabres and the blues in the off season. And you saw there tonight. I mean, he has been crushing it on face offs. He's getting all of these great opportunities. But more importantly, Amy he's been making passes that we haven't seen in a really long time for a guy playing center. Oh my goodness. Ryan O'Reilly is such a dangerous player and Saint Louis should be so excited to watch him out on the ice not just on five on five but the power play the penalty kill you mentioned the face offs news. The number one face guy in the NHL took more than. Any other player in the NHL average sixty percent while still taking over two thousand face offs. The number two guy was almost two hundred faceoffs below him. That was Sidney Crosby so rhino.

"Sports No real benefits for the cardinals from this lost. This evening, obviously the cubs gained ground on the red birds in the central division a. Couple of other teams helped the cardinals out if they could have found, a way to win but fortunately the cardinals fall five to two Alex Ferrario back with you inside. Bush stadium, we'll give you scores or, a major league baseball in just a. Bit but John Gant taking the loss in this, one tonight dropping to three and four on the season but overall for the. Cardinal starter tonight four and a third innings of work four hits three, runs two earned runs two walks four strike outs giving up a total of two home runs in this one John, Gant only through total of sixty two pitches in this ball game but Mike shield. Thinking that, it was time to get get out of. The game at the time bringing in Austin Gombar let's hear from the manager on why to pull John Gant, more right there I mean you ended, play right before, that with Challenge, in that didn't go our way clearly So now you gotta sit decision to make, with Rizzo and Sobers in Hayward voiced already. Taking good, swings off of them settled down, you know he's trying to make some pitches. But We gotta go sit, in the bullpen pitch and is capable picking. And that, just bought for him to pitch, so Frankly not really difficult. Decision It'll, be, keep raw immediately jar Right yeah I mean so, he comes in and gets Rizzo maybe hits it at somebody to play ball. Jammed him, Abedin to Josh credit you, know when we were playing mini really nice boy got the out zobrist which one of the reasons to turn them around because he's a much. Higher ground ball guy against left he's already taken a good swing power from the from the left is we turn around and makes no bogged down the line we'll bit and they makes good pitch on Hayward. To get out, of the inning and you. Know we just don't make apply so Bias hurt us after that. Didn't go away, but not a hard decision. Iceland Yeah I mean you know, he was after but I, think he, might be. Looked maybe question for him but he was appointed done easy play the, play he expect American and. So You know, he's he's, been playing. Well and stay. With him For, sure no actually maybe not because, we put, him straight in kind of liked him going through You know. He saw he wasn't Cincinnati he's got, he's got a good. Split so honestly keeps. It Todd there probably let him hit. Himself in second we get somebody, on we bought him over we know we maybe puts. One, hand we take her out of there but probably really trying to get into room Right.
