That game marked the first time the teams had met since it was revealed. Houston stole signs in route to a 2017 World Series title over the Dodgers. Kelly was not a member of that Dodgers team, but he was a member of the Red Sox in 2017 a team that also lost to the Astros. In that postseason. Kelly has appealed his punishment. He also talked trash from the mound, causing both benches to empty after the sixth Astros manager Dusty Baker angry at what Kelly did throwing up it in and in the high nineties and things he said, ball get away sometime, You know, but not that many in the big leagues and for 30 fastball over guys here. Now you do his ending his career and then what Upset me is that the Empire's warned us. Won't you warn him? The Dodgers, of course, have long suggested that the Astros stole the 2017 World Series from them with their sign stealing, hence the actions of last night, Dusty also not happy with home plate umpire Alonso Marquez. For not tossing Kelly and for warning both benches. What upset me is that the Empire's warned us Won't you warned him? You know, he's the one throwing the ball and you know he's won. That started this mess in the first place, so I didn't like it all. The Brewers are working on contract extension with Christian Yelich that could exceed $200 million

"Christian Yelich might be the next superstar in sports to put pen to paper on a massive contract the brewers India which are closing in on what is being reported as a nine year two hundred fifteen million dollar contract now if you're like me when you first hear that nine years and two hundred fifteen million for Christian Yelich who was the MVP two seasons ago any runner up for the most valuable player award last year when he got hurt and missed a month you're probably thinking to fifteen does not seem like enough and I would tend to agree with you about that he is taking a dramatic discount to sign this extension which is basically seven years a hundred ninety million in new money when you just saw it the rain don't who hadn't been in the top two in MVP voting over the last two years in the National League get seven years and two hundred forty five million to go to the angels in free agency when you've seen our unato in Colorado no one or not get a massive two hundred and thirty plus million dollar contract over eight seasons and here we're talking about new money seven and one ninety for a guy who might be the best player in the National League the deal was first reported today by the athletics some of the details of trickled out of come from ESPN's Jeff Passan he's got this basically yellowish would play the next two seasons starting this year on his current contract so he's scheduled to make I was about to say only how funny is that only twelve and a half million in two thousand twenty and then fourteen million next year but you know I laughed at that as far as the production B. provides and and the elite performance is gonna provide Daddy's shopping in the bargain bin that's finding one of your favorite movies in the five dollar DVD been at your favorite electronics store so the extension for that seventy one ninety would basically kick in for the brewers in two thousand twenty two and go through two thousand twenty eight and there be a mutual option in the final year in twenty twenty nine but you go back two seasons ago when Yelich won the M. V. P. he established himself after leaving Miami where he was an excellent hater and a lot of folks felt like maybe he would win a batting title at some point but didn't get a lot of help we did have a lot of production and protection rather to go along with his production there just weren't players around him as good as him to help him out as they were going to getting rid of all their pieces Giancarlo Stanton Marcello's owner he was the last guy standing so we got to go to Milwaukee and give it a try there and immediately flourished completely took off and became one of the greats in the sport and for my money right now this moment Christian Yelich of the brewers is the most underrated player in baseball which might sound ludicrous considering that he wanted MVP award is finished in the top two twice in two years but I still think when we have conversations in this industry about who the best baseball players are Mike trout's name comes out of everyone's mouth first then you get some of the bigger names that maybe don't even belong in that conversation right now based on performance like Bryce Harper Manny Machado those types but who is the second best player in the sport yeah which might be the answer Cody Bellinger won the MVP award with the Dodgers last year is in that vicinity I'd say there's a a four player tier behind trout vying for the number two seed in the sport with the yellow shoes twenty eight Ballenger who's only twenty four just barely starting to think about Mookie Betts becks is now twenty seven went from Boston to LA this offseason in a deal that took forever to consummate and Alex Bregman the twenty five year old villain now with the Astros who is so much better four in the wake of finding out that Houston Bregman has cheated over the last couple of seasons at least dating back to seventeen and some of eighteen that they've admitted to Bregman the MVP of the American League last year in my opinion ended up not finishing right behind trout and I kind of quantify things as non trout division because he should just get the award every year so I kind of say well other than trap who was the MVP this year you're competing against a legend the likes of which is going to go down as maybe the best players ever lived or one of them no one of the mount Rushmore baseball stars essentially and a guy that you'll meet people listening right now we're not gonna see another player like him probably in our

The Rise and Fall of Baseball's Hottest Young Manager

"So Buster. The Red Sox and Alex Cora mutually parted ways on Tuesday. I think that's what we're calling it. After it was revealed that Cora was an integral part in the illegal sign stealing operation in Houston in two thousand seventeen when he was the astros bench coach. MLB is currently investigating the Red Sox as well to determine whether he implemented similar signs stealing in their twenty eighteen world series winning season season and now we are all awaiting to see what his punishment will be. What was your reaction to the report of his wrongdoing and his subsequent firing well? I wasn't surprised that he wound up leaving from what I understand from talking with sources that he knew as soon soon is the astros fired. Aj hinch and they fired. Jeff Luneau their general manager that his position with the red sox wasn't tenable depressing intimate set in terms. The suspensions and at the very least Alex is going to probably get a year and if they were to stack on the extra counts for the red SOx walks in two thousand eighteen at the end of that investigation. He might even get more time than that and so I think he totally understood that they're in a position where they were going to have have to consider a change. We met with Alex yesterday and everyone went into that meeting trying to answer. The question is what was in the best interest for the Boston. Red Sox Alex was professional understanding that he had made a mistake and and so after a couple of conversations. We all mutually agreed that we needed to part ways. But we do it. Alex feels like to some degree. Sorry that he's leaving on his own terms just as someone who's known for a long time and worked with them. I certainly feel that way a year ago. I think we would talk about about. Alex is being the most powerful manager in baseball and now we don't know if he's ever going to manage the big leagues again. But you worked with him when he was at. ESPN right right right. Worked with him for four years. ESPN did shows with him was around him and then after he left. You know when I would do my work on Sunday night. Baseball all or other type reporting and you talk to him or you're around the red sox and you watched how he interacted with players boy. He ascended so quickly and I can't remember someone who probably was better suited for the position of manager and saying I can't sit here today and predict that he's ever going to manage again in the major leagues seeks buster. What did baseball say that? Alex Cora actually did in Houston that he was essentially at the center of the conversation. An that had begun with Carlos Beltran and some of the players about refining. This science stealing Alex was the one according to the report who ask ask employees to install a monitor that could be used right behind the Astros dug out by the way that monitor was located. Did No more than thirty feet where. Aj hinch their manager was standing. No more than thirty feet were. Alex was doing his work bench coach during the course of the game. So basically everybody knew it was there. Everybody I've heard stories in the last forty eight hours about how members of the Astros have reached out to people though the teams comes after the athletic came out with an initial report and tried to assure peers competitors. Hey don't it wasn't that serious that that story was overblown and then when the report came out with the details the other day there is so much anger there are friendships that are fractured. Because of how some members the Astros not only did they cheat back in two thousand seventeen but in the two months that followed the athletic report. They've been lying. Did their peers about what they were doing. Well Chorus reputation like around baseball before this news. He was known as the guy who would hold things together. During a moment of crisis he took over the national team from Puerto Rico leading in the WBZ. He showed such a great way of dealing with players connecting with people at that time the Puerto Rico national team potentially had three shortstop Havi Abayas. Hi as an Francisco Lindor Carlos Correa and among baseball nerds like myself. We were all wondering like how is. How is Alex GonNa work through those Egos you know? How is he going to convince one guy to be the third baseman who got to be shortstop and one got to be the second basement any did it? And when he was the Astros Bench coach in two thousand thousand seventeen men he made such great connections with Alex Bregman at George Springer. They loved Alex Cora the the players loved Alex other people in Baseball. Absolutely love Alex. When the Red Sox officials who put in this position where they have to fire him they talked about that how much that's regard they have for him and I think that's I has been universal leading up to this whole decision? What was he like as a player at the time he was drafted by the dodgers? He was regarded as an excellent prospect but he never really developed into the consistent offensive player that the dodgers thought he was going to be. He carved out this role through a fourteen year career of being a role player but he was smart guy and was always known like Carlos. Beltran is someone who it was really good at ascertaining what the other team was doing with it signs for decades there was an accepted form of stealing signed and that would be the runner standing at second base and figuring out what the catcher signs were there with a lien or with the placement of a hand on a knee they could could convey to the hitter. What the next pitch was? And that's the reputation that he developed early on so he was signed stealing back that he was good. Good at picking up on Pitch Tipping. I'm sure as smart as Alex is. As much experience he had in baseball. He was tremendous. It picked up signs when leading off at second base and potentially relaying back to the hitter so despite that science stealing ability outscore score never really broke through as a player he retired in two thousand eleven as a career to forty three hitter but in twenty sixteen buster he returns to the Big Leagues Leagues as the Astros Bench Coach now Houston is known as extremely progressive forward thinking organization. How much were analytic Atlantic's and video? Apart of course coaching methods it was a lot in terms of what he was responsible for with defensive positioning. I've had conversations with Alex when we would talk about an infielder. Who may be wasn't that good and didn't have that much range and Alex would give me awake and say he'll be fine? We'll put them in the right place. That's part of what he excelled at when he was with the Astros putting a guy in the right spot to make a play a now the Astros under Jeff Luneau always had a rule that reporters could not talk to coaches. They're only organization baseball. That I know of that made that rule. I think in part because they wanted to protect their information. They didn't want the coaches talking about what they were doing. But I think Alex like Brent Strom their pitching coach. Aj hinch. They got a lot of information. A lot of feedback from the front office that they wound up using the culture in the organization has come under a lot of scrutiny really for months now. The commissioner statements singled out. Do you think Cora felt built enabled. Perhaps by the Astros focus on winning at all costs absolutely when you look back at the history of the Astros after Jeff Luneau took over. Boy does this seem inevitable. 'cause I mean they SP- have absolutely skirted right at the edge of of competitive propriety. All the way through when you think about what happened when Jeff took over the team. Not only did they tank. They tanked in a way that no one had ever seen before in baseball. You know in one year I think it was two thousand thousand thirteen. They cut their payroll down to the point. Where only one player on the team at the end of the year was making over a million dollars? One player I know what the commissioner said about the word tanking but I can tell you privately so many executives at that time. We're going to see what they're doing. They are absolutely they're not even pretending to. I have a representative major league product. It was clear from their actions. Then that so long as you wound up winning and you got the number one pick and and you pick Carlos Correa or you wind up with Alex Bregman. That would justify what they did. That same sort of mentality was in play during the stealing stuff

The 2019 Stories That Changed Sports: Baseball

"After some of the concerns in two thousand seventeen that had nothing to do with the Astros actually Major League Baseball did institute new concerted guidelines about electronic signs dealing right. This happened actually before the eighteenth postseason and then really was implemented for nineteen and baseball said in statement. It released to us that there are complaints from from a lot of teams about a lot of other teams and they were hearing all kinds of stuff so they took it upon themselves to require a few different things. One was in eighth second. delay all feeds in the Ballpark so the team could not look at what was going on. Live and decode immediately in that real time sense also. There were additional personnel L. stationed in video rooms major league baseball officials so that if teams were engaged in Shenanigan those mlb people could see that firsthand and even in dugouts in the postseason or personnel. He'll be so they did take some measures and yet there is still a feeling among many in the sport this stuff goes goes on. And what's what's the astor's reaction been to this. They came out with a statement essentially saying that they're going to conduct an investigation in conjunction in with MLB and basically go forward that way now. What they said was regarding the story posted by the athletic? The Astros Organization has begun begun investigation in cooperation. With Major League Baseball. It would not be appropriate to comment further on the matter at this time. Their General Manager Jeff Luneau spoke to reporters and said Dad essentially that but he also said that he doesn't believe there. Two thousand seventeen world series titles should be tarnished reason. We won the world series and twenty seventeen. This was able to Ben Alex Bregman just a lot of great players and they do things the right way and organization. That's what we aspire to do as well and you know as you mentioned sign. Stealing has been part of baseball for a century and even electron examine stealing while against the rules has been suspected from other teams. I didn't have an Evan and I didn't have enough to report which teams were doing. Exactly what but this is not simply astros issue now how far and how extensive it goes which other teams that. I don't know exactly for sure but teams have accused each other of this going to two thousand seventeen. The Yankees and red sox had the apple-watching viewed as entering the digital age with the Yankees accusing the socks of using an apple. Watch to help steal and relay their catchers hand signals the the red sox ultimately refined by Major League baseball for US an Apple Watch in illicit way and that is the last time a team has been penalized for this kind and of conduct the Yankees were fine to at that time but for another kind of thing and last year in the playoffs there was the situation with the Indians in the Astros where the astros were kind of engaging counter surveillance. The reigning World Series Champs are accused of possibly having a mole next to the Indian's dugout. The man in question was removed several times. Thanks for taking pictures and texting and now the Indian cried foul and it never really got anywhere but it was a big incident at the time so this has been going on yes and the Astros Dome of it not there are other teams are suspected that you've heard everything from the man in center field with the white shirt short somehow And using some high technology to do that to a camera in Centerfield with an ipad attached with the hi pad breaking down pitchers grips to determine whether he is tipping and then that information being conveyed all kinds lines of talk all kinds of suspicion. It's tough tougher baseball. Prove as one person pointed out in the article in part because if you come forward and accused the team well maybe your own hands dirty. And that's the problem right. Can you just tell us in two thousand seventeen from the people that you talk to you. How open this wise is at the Astros that people were talking about doing this openly in within the team the team elephant was can't say for sure because I wasn't there wasn't in it but but as you reported it was certainly discussed internally disgust among players among different personnel in uniform? It was a topic because it was being important. It's just the most being employed you talk to a manager and he basically said that this was an issue that permeates the whole league and that the League has done a poor job of policing policing this so in the course of this investigation. I'm not asking you to speculate on the League will do. But what could come out of this investigation. I'm I'm not sure we know that the red sox were find in two thousand seventeen for the Apple Watch so I imagine if they found that the astros committed wrongdoing. That baseball could issue. You find to them.

"Of young rocket versus young Astro with with mentor slash. I don't know what you do. I mean as I watched that fucking video back. It didn't register in my head when they show the clip of me throwing the fastball, and I blow it by Alex bregman, Dallas. Brayden is in the background said, I'd say kit like he's trying to hype up. Alex bregman who is the number three offense player in major league baseball against his thirty year old washed up blogger co host, like bregman of pep talk. I, I wanna take this time to I. Swings missing. Like what's sometimes you just fall back into old habits. Jared. Despite, you know, you, you see big leaguer. You're like I. This is this, the team, I'm supposed to be on. This is what I'm supposed to be. Cheerful. I got sidetracked sidetracked. I have all out of all the ridiculous thing that happened in that video subtly. That is the most ridiculous thing. I think after rewatching it out to go. I mean I what preposterous stance to take. Got him if I remember correctly, you know, not that you needed to pep talk. But before we walked out, I'm like you. You fucking. Are you kidding me? Got this this, this is no sweat off your nuts right now. You are about to dice up a fucking big leaguer. You got. I feel like I was having that kind that same kind of talk with you right before he showed up. The problem is he showed up. And like I said, just kind of fall back into oh, I guess I'm rooting for bregman the the ball where am I right? What's going on? I kind of blocked out for a little bit. And then came to right. At the point of contact that fateful swing. And. It's one of those things where I know you're not a wrestling fan, but one of the promo packages that they did for undertaker versus Shawn Michaels to or no. Yeah, either undertake. I think it was triple, h undertaker versus triple, h the second one, the undertaker the year before he beat Shawn Michaels, triple h. But he couldn't walk out of the ring that had to like wheel is asked up the ramp on a gurney. Right. Yes. And then they the next year he challenged triple h to a rematch because he's like I didn't beat you good enough. So he just sees watching the replays. He's watching the replays, and he starts cutting his hair off with the straight razor all this. And that's kind of what I did last night watching that video, I was just watching the I had my mic cursor on the point of contact in Iowa. Just click it bang. Click Bank click at Bank. And I watched I watched breath. Gmund hit that ball, a good one hundred fifty times, so there is going to be a rematch someday. And when there is I guarantee you he does not make contact. I guarantee you that of a is this remeasure down in a phone booth because I feel I feel like like. that might be the only place. I would imagine that this rematch could take place in Cleveland on. He'll be there. I got I got no doubt. He'll be there. So, so their civil j j either fuck you better be there better. Be there J. Are you going to be? Yeah. You don't that nipple come hang out with the boys. I would love to it would be also a great opportunity. Maybe do like a starting nine grandma and pops double dip. Video content. So it occurred to me, is, is watching this replay over and over and over and over again, we never ran, the Alex bregman interview that we conducted that day the interview that took place before the match up before the massacre. The interview that are the interview that basically was a precursor to the matchup talked about it in the interview what? Where do the Astros have trained wasn't even that town? But godforsaken eighty one of those godforsaken towns and Florida. I forget. Efforting isn't it Fort Myers, is it? That's the twins. We've got to come up ground. Screw that. "Whereas parents were asking him are you getting burned out? Are you getting burned out? And he would say no, this is what I love to do. And. And he would have the conversation with his dad. He would say dad I'm gonna play the big leagues one day. And you know, most parents will get that from their kids at some point. But his dad would say him. Yeah. You're gonna play in the big leagues. And you're going to be good. And he said that that stuck with him. And you know, both of his parents are big influences in his life. He's just he you've been around him. He's he's special. I think that you know, he's got a YouTube channel. I love the idea that you know, we talked about that off the air. "This is for me. I wanted to know is it do you want to be the guy? Do you want to be the guy on this team? You want to be the face of this franchise because right now, I don't know. I it's sort of debatable who face the franchise is you could even include Justin Burley into that conversation beyond just position players. I want to know is this the year, regardless of whether he wants to be or not is this the guy is this the year that Alex bregman who statistically was the best player on the Astros in twenty eighteen is this the year that he establishes himself, as you know, that guy's pretty damn good back is pretty damn good. But I'm great like, I m the guy that when you look at the MVP award for a one hundred plus win Houston Astros team that sure we can we can look at all these great seasons that everyone has compiled but mine will stand out undoubtedly as the best who's the MVP candidate from that team. Alex bregman? I for sure think that when we finished the twenty nineteen season 'cause it was the same last year. He finished fifth. We will see a top three because you know, Mike trout's gonna be in there somewhere. Mookie betts. We don't know. I mean, he's twenty sixteen. Runner up twenty seventeen not really in the picture twenty eighteen he wins it. So as far as consistency. Goes you know, that you're going to have Mike show in that top three Davis met chatman these guys out in Oakland that you got to pay attention to medals and starts spray the ball field. We'll get to that team will pass pass for it now. But when you start thinking about top to tie, I agree. I agree with all of that. And let's be real. He's already got a jump start on the rest of the league on the rest of baseball jeered. He's got a walk. He's got to RBI's. And he's got a Homer. He's swinging it pretty well. And your Yara is through the fucking roof. That's actually, not true at all. Well, you have one I don't. Sorry. My one thing or I guess is. I think it some point in time. Max Tassie going is going to make an impact. I will. I truly truly want to believe that I really and truly do a very just detailed something to look out for. But look out for max Tassie making an impact he does amazing work with the pitching staff talking to some of those guys. And then obviously once the Astros re-signed kaikal. That's that's something to look out for is that that rotation is again ridiculous. I tweeted it when they went out and got their lefty Wade Miley. They got their lefty. It was Wade Miley. Now, you're gonna bring kaikal into that missile. No, it's definitely it's happening. It's happening. Will you brought you brought up my one thing to watch Wade Miley? Okay. There you go because I'm also very interested in the bregman will hear won't he ascension. But Miley is my guy. I think like there's every reason to believe that like with the way that the Astros bring in these pictures, and generally speaking, they don't all become stars. But generally, it seems like they can make a tweak here or add a pitch here and things happen like they develop pitchers at the major league level seemingly better than other organizations not necessarily the brewers. But I think that getting Wade Miley in that situation in in a with an organization that has worked with Dallas kaikal and believe there's some similarities there in terms of what they could be able to do. You and then you combo that with the changes that you already saw from Wade Miley last year that led to his kind of mini breakout. Only eighty innings but two point five seventy RA yet as best Phipps since twenty twelve. So there's underlying support for the season any changes sequence or his pitch arsenal. Yeah. Like he went out any added like a massive amount of cutter usage..

"Line. It's Alex bregman you in Cleveland? Houston in Cleveland gave us basically seven game series threw out this season. You guys want it for three. How much does a matchup with another team that you've seen seven times during the season? How much does that change when you get to the postseason. The changes a lot. Honestly, they didn't. We won for two three and that series. And I don't know if I if I remember correctly, I don't think Justin Verlander pitch one of those games. So I think that for, for example, is gonna be a big difference for us. I think I think we did get to face each other, get to see kind of where each other teams were Abba. We played early on in the year and we weren't really clicking yet. And I think right about now is the time that this team starts to start. Click starts to turn it on and plays our best baseball in October. Realistically, I know it sounds cliche, but last year you guys went through this new master play baseball. How much does that help you this year when you go into it. I think it helps a lot. Now we, we do have a slightly different team, and I think it's actually a a little bit improved to be honest with you. We made some huge additions down the stretch with Presley on a sooner bullpen. We made we traded for Garrett Cole. So I think I think we have about this complete a pitching staff as you'll see in the game of baseball. And then offensively I think, is where we learn the most from our postseason run last year. I think I think the guys that that were in that offense that are still in the offense learnt so much of the difference between regular season abets and postseason bats. And I think we'll be able to apply that that into this year series Friday, it's going to be kluber the Verlinden the postseason actually starts tonight. How much do you pay attention to what's going on in other series other than you own? I'll pay attention to the American League. I mean, I'll watch the game tonight because we're not playing, but I'm I mostly just pay attention. The American League. See, see how teams are doing. But I I, if I had to make a prediction, I would. I would predict that we would be playing. The Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series this year. Until this very. McCain, Nicole's of cubs fans. So now she is very, very mad. Hey, Alex, you're doing great stuff on the field, but more importantly, you're doing amazing things off the field being a part of this. We really appreciate your time. "Now by speaking Astros, third baseman, Alex bregman, Alex, thanks for joining us. Mantilla mobile is bringing back home runs for hurricane recovery, five thousand bucks for every home run hit in the playoffs. Plus one dollar for every post on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag HR for HR they pick the right guy to rep this Alex. What makes this 'cause close to you buddy? Well, last year we saw firsthand here in Houston with the hurricane and everyone that was affected, and we saw how we were able to kind of raise the city up when it was going through some tough times. So since then for about the last year partner of t. mobile and team Rubicon and able to try to help out in any way we can with with hurricane relief. And t mobile is done on believable job with home, runs for hurricane relief. And hopefully this year we can hit some home runs and raise more money to help these families that were affected. Well, obviously you've gone hot and help that. 'cause in Ben helping the cause for the Astros throughout the month of October, what's really been the key for you? Well, I think I think just really being on being on this team with the the great teammates that I have been able to pick out to as brain craze brain. And you know when when when this offense gets role in you wanna keep up and it's fun. And hopefully while I know for a fact that we're back back to full strength now everyone's healthy and it's going to be a fun run. Hopefully eleven more wins to are are back to back World Series championships fall in the AL MVP conversation. I don't know as actually the first time I've been asked that trying on on on record, so I don't know, depends on depends on what you look at. Definitely say Mookie Betts, believable year, Mike trout, an unbelievable year. So somewhere in there with those two. Well, I think we should just lobby for you. I mean, it's tumble of you, Alex, the humility. I, I want to get back to something. You mentioned though. When you talked about this, 'cause for you and what Houston sort of went through last year. It caught the nation's attention with you guys going through that run when Houston was going through so much for this year. Obviously, you know that the reasons he bias of that, it just it's not as prevalent in everyone's mind. So how do you sort of recapture that level of emotion going into this playoff often hotel you? One thing. We one hundred and three games this year. So we were able to secure home-field home field advantage for the first round and. I promise you when when when the guy's not clubhouse feel the electricity of our fans in the stands on on game one when Verlinden takes on kluber, I think I think we're well. We'll feel right back at home where where we, where we feel very comfortable in the postseason and in that atmosphere and we'll, we'll remember Houston strong for sure. Seeing teams that when the World Series one year sort of have the the World Series hangover the next year you guys you one hundred and three games, but you still had to sort of got it out and fight it out with Oakland. There was the points in August where you guys had that ten game stretch. We lost eight including two of three to Oakland during that time. What did you guys learn about yourselves at the team. I'll tell you this team. We we. We did have a World Series hangover. We we only one hundred three games. I think we're capable of winning one hundred twenty one hundred twenty five to be honest with you. If with that's how that's how confident we are in in in this team when we're pulse strength and well, two, they went down. Correa went down, Springer went down and and we we managed to win a hundred and three games. So the Oakland Athletics, they had a, they had a magical run at a division title, but they they got, they got a tough one with the Yankees coming up. So I think I think our division is is ours for the fertile for the future. And I think we're gonna. We're gonna own LS for awhile. "Alex bregman, of course, also responsible for another walk off win where he reached on an error to the catcher, Jonathan Luke road, threw the ball away down the line. So expressman two of his five most valuable plays the season have been just complete defensive catastrophes. Absolutely. No reason for them to. Have happened, and I was thinking about this now out of the race, what is going to win the VP? I don't have a vote for the MVP 'cause I think Mukhi bets more reasonable case to win the award. But if you were to talk about Alex bregman as the American League MVP one argument would be that, well, he has been his numbers reflected that he has been clutch the season. He's been respond. He's big. He's started plays that wound up being clutch for his team, but like if you have this pop up this ridiculous. Is there anything more symbolic than Eric hosmer? The Padres biggest investment that they're ever gonna make for as long as it's starting and it's not all his fault, and sometimes you just lose the ball. It's fine. I don't hold this against her too much, but just stand there in the ball drops. I think it was behind him and bregman wins the game. And then everyone it's like the answer should have come out of the dugout and just circled Eric hosmer because he is really the player who's responsible for that walk off win. But yeah. What do you, what do you do for value? They're like if you're talking about the MVP and that's a walk off win. That's. Half of one win. Basically the Redmond's ball in play gave the Astros in that circumstance. What do you do with that much credit? You give to experiment for out, right? Yeah. I don't know. Sam tweeted the other day that bregman has made the less out of game three times this year. And he has four walk-offs which I don't have check how rare or impressive that is, but somewhat impressive. And yeah, that play. I don't know. I mean, if you were going by like expected weighted on base of Alex bregman bet at ball, it would be extremely low putt. In that case, that's what happened and have we even talked about hosmer this year like we haven't even mentioned him really, and it's funny because he signed this eight year contract, one of the biggest free agents and he had a supper placement level season according to fan graphs, and that is so not notable that we haven't talked about. It was like, of course, I mean, did anyone expected to be good that really. Like, I mean, we thought he might be decent, but no one thought he was actually good even though the Padres did. And so the fact that he's been below league average hitter not for the first time and that he's been a supper placement level player, not for the first time, not shocking, I guess disappointing because there were some hope at least that he had found a slightly new level of last year, but no, not at all. So yeah, not anything. And you know, it's been easier to work as one air Cosma hasn't been like Chris Davis level bed and also the Padres haven't been anywhere close to the race. I would just hasn't really mattered that much. But yeah, in the early stages of becoming a disaster, like cosmos, forgotten how to be a good player. And I was kind of doing that, like I guess, like odd year, magic kind of thing, lick reverse San Francisco Giants where he's just gone from replacement level, the good to replacement level. Good doesn't make any sense. He's inspired by Ryan Rayburn, but something that I guess we'll talk about more in twenty nineteen when the Padres are presumably better and closer to the races like, well. Air, Cosmas kind of screwed them because now we'll Myers who they've also made a big investment in his playing. Third base will Myers, third baseman. Yeah. And so there's just have less flexibility realistically next year for all I know air cosmic could be the worst starting player on the Padres, and he will also be the most expensive starting player on the Piedra. So Heff on Dave Cameron try to figure that one out I will by the way, Alex bregman and Wilmer Flores both tied with four walk-offs the season, and David Bodey has three already, David Bodey history. And just because I'm already here, I will tell you that last year, the league leaders in walk-offs while he was Trumbull who also had for I don't care..

So we hadn't done yet. And we're here to do it. And it'll be a perfect time to go on the road and into do that the team has beat us two years in a row. So we understand is going to be tough. But also know what we're capable of doing. And we hadn't played that way. Yet. And we're looking forward to doing that both teams were to and to Louisville lost its conference opener ever Jinyu last week and for you. It's almost uncharted territory. "Frame what did you think of alex bregman shaving his moustache during the game on sunday i didn't even i didn't even realize until i saw it all over social media but i definitely i definitely not gonna miss it definitely definitely i mean he i think he he wanted he wanted to try to get some hits he's been hitting the ball hard all year we kind of joked with them every now and then before yesterday he was four for a couple days ago and he was hitting two sixty going into that game we said it was the the loudest to sixty in ever seen because even hit a lot of balls into the warning track and a lotta guy laws right guys so i think he he had the mustache to get some hits out of it and ended up no hits so he just shaved it off let's looking at your own performance you struck out eighteen guys combined in the last two appearances obviously when you look at saturday start i guess would be the homerun allow what'd you think of your performance on saturday no i thought it was again another another really really good solid performance i look i i gave up a a brought to brokenbat bloop and then didn't make a great pitch and most of their ballparks it's probably staying in so you're probably looking at a a one run double chins the the guy the guys on base in lump jiffy well but is man small park and he got me and i still went six and gives a chance to win so kept us in it and we ended up coming back and getting the ultimate getting to win that game which is you know which which what i'm here for some black data pulled it out and on the ball like this because i feel like i've ball really really well this first half it was a very exciting when lance i'm going to tread lightly on this because it was so weird to me so i'm watching the game on my couch on saturday and it was a fox broadcasts so usually watch it well i usually use my couch yeah that was that was an irrelevant statement by me usually on the couch saw washing the game and aj inskeep who says some interesting things times he made the observation that he felt like you'd entrust your fastball in certain situations and i'd never heard that what is your reaction superczynski saying that on saturday i have no reaction guy says fair enough there you go straight to the point well i think you'll have a reaction to this story archie bradley who pitches for the arizona diamondbacks had an interesting story that he told yahoo sports where he was in the bullpen he went to the bathroom he thought he was just peeing and he happened to crap himself he was then immediately called out to the field to pitch the actually pitch pretty well in that inning what's the most uncomfortable experience that you've had to pitch through oh my gosh not not nothing like that so some people on twitter will know that i've been trying the all roger clemens and and jake peavy red hot on this lower extremities yes and so i put it on in kansas city vodafone scam i put on where it was that hot outside and so i i think i missed i missed calculated how much i put on the temperature out and so that was a bad the red hot was tough that day it was tough that was that was pretty uncomfortable for first couple innings but then it kinda went away interesting so it does wear off it does wear off yeah it does we're off eventually but why would you start sweating and you start getting a blood going that that's when it starts to start to burn the worst regards of wherever you have it on but i think just in that region in general was i wasn't finding many breaks what's the benefit does it distract you a little bit like duke nukem there or is it more just that it makes you angry no that was the that was i think i'm not sure up ask a podcast rocket next time he's around what what that was but i think pd did it to give them a little tight to get them going for the game i think i think.
