NASCAR Playoff Pulse: Analyzing the Field After Richmond

"Opening up the nascar cup series season with three wins in the opening. Twelve races martin. True ex junior went through a long dry spell when the weather warmed up. Well he's got his mojo back again. Winning the playoff race at richmond ending his summer slump a lot of tough lock and auto crashes and got caught in the rain a few times and some crazy things happen too so i felt like we brought goodspeed all summer. We had good cars for the most part other concrete tracks. Really kinda whipped us. But you never know how things are gonna go to x. Now joins teammate denny. Hamlin is around one winner. Who's locked up a spot in round two. Also clinching on points. Kyle larson trying to be one of the other nine drivers who are going to move on chase. Elliott is currently ranked seventh and fortunate to finish fourth at richmond following a problem pitstop when the reigning champ thought he had slid through his pit box so i just kind of took it upon myself to back up. Tj already hit the right side. Jack and at that point. I should know not to but obviously i wouldn't have broke the jack if i knew it was going to break the jack so i just didn't want to stop over the line. I thought that was just gonna make problems even worse so try to be cautious. Ended up hurting us. Worse after problems. At both darlington and richmond. Alex bowman is currently tied on the cutoff line. With kurt

Hendrick Motorsports Nears Petty Win Record After 1-2-3-4 Result

"Hendrick motorsports the first one two three four finish for hendrick in its team history. Only the fourth time in cup history. That's been done in the first and the cup series since rosh benway racing team. You have some knowledge of two thousand five at the season finale at homestead miami speedway so just to give you a little context henrik has only been a four car team since two thousand and four so i one two three four finishing essentially seventeen years. I that they've been able to do that but you know what's your first reaction to that. When you hear the hendrick motorsports for the first time ever in what thirty. Seven years of history has a one two three four finish. Well i think about is two years ago when we were talking about. What's wrong with hendrick right. And we we. We had this expectation level of hendrik. That's pretty high. We expect to see them contending for championships winning the lottery to me to me. In the era that i raced in hendrick was the most dominant team out there and that faded faded over time and it was. They didn't jump right back into it. They had to work themselves back into it. And now here they are and they also invested you. Think about what they did. They invested in a lot of youth right so took brought a lot of young drivers and that has cultivated into a very young team with a lot of winners on it heading into right direction. This is the opposite of what we were talking about. Two years ago. I think hendrick motorsports is repositioning themselves to be dominant force. They won the championship last year. We chase elliott now chase elliott. That hasn't wanna raise this year and alex bowman's want to i know chase elliott fans. Think well that's not good but it is good if the guy that won championship you last year is the guy. That's not winning this year and everybody else has stepped it up. That's a good thing. Now they've chase elliott rezoning twentieth every weekend. That what that's not chase elliott's running okay. He's not been winning expecting to do. But but that's a good problem for a team to have. It's almost impossible to have all four clicking. You know what i mean. It's really really difficult. But i just i just i think a reversal of where we were two years ago. That's the first thing that pops in my brain

"Once again Carl Larson led the most laps in a race but once again he was denied a trip to victory lane as his teammate Alex Bowman picked up his second NASCAR victory of the season taking the checkered flag at Dover international speedway it was a late race pit stop the put Bowman out front any help off the field as his Hendrick motorsports teammates Larson chase Elliott and William Byron ended up in second third and fourth place respectively it was the first time Hendrick motorsports teammates had ever swept the top four and only the third time any team has done it in the history of NASCAR I'm Jerry Jordan

"alex bowman" Discussed on NASCAR America

"Which is sometimes hard to see at a racetrack. When it gets a little spread out in greg is makes these magical air pressure adjustments in the thing right here is like the most impressive part is that has enough grip i think denny handling overdrive doesn't get to his door and gain over wants to forty eight clear the eleventh and this is really big for hendrick motorsports because now suddenly you have william byron alex bowman kyle larson all locked in the playoffs. Right being the defending series champion chase elliott is a given their five more rode horses. And i mean there's he's gonna make it on points regardless but we know he's going to win one of those five races suddenly hendrick. Motorsports is sitting very pretty for the championship race. So speaking alex bowman he'll be joining us on the show here shortly wall. Self scott mclaughlin the drive for team. Penske the sensational rookie after his run barber motorsports park this past week and also mike bagley from siriusxm will join us as well. Steve kind of takes us inside the game a little bit so the the adjustment the had to be made on that final. Stop by greg is i mean how. If you're a bit blocks hell aggressive. Is that move knowing. Have run and that this is my shot what everyone is doing it. Everyone knows adjustments can be made. The biggest question is do you hit them correctly because it's not as simple as ads grip to the car because you have too much gift to the front or to the back while you have more overall grip you're gonna handle the car's not going to drive very well and your entire balance is going to be shot so it's kind of like throwing short and moving dartboard not even really sure what you're supposed to aim at. You're probably not going to put fuel in. you're gonna have more knows. Wait you're gonna put air in the tires not the same amount all the way around. How do you do that. How aggressive can you be. I actually look at you. And i had this conversation earlier. Greg is showed his hand in it right back on the table when he said he had learned something in that first thirty laps sprint to the comp yellow and he must have had some higher air pressure. There look they did it. I don't wanna make it sound. Greg is the only one on pit road increased air pressure. But he did it better than everyone else and. That's listen what joe said. He stole a race. I disagree. You don't ever steelers put yourself in position when the opportunity comes your way forty eight pounds and it was an impressive start expensive lap but the last couple ads slowing down quick. Yes alex was very very squirrelly off of turn four on. i think that's why. Joey logano pay kind of stolen here because of oregon another lap. I don't think alex bowman wins that race. Which again testament to greg is genius and gutsiness here that he decided like we got what ten green flag laps. That's going to be just enough for this magic air pressure adjustment that i've been keeping my back pocket since the first of the race. Let's use it. Try it and see if we can win if you're wrong. What's the worst run fifth. Wayne right wait. Can we are seventeen points onto that finally. You know you're going to need your alex bowman and i'll ask him this in a minute. You're seventeenth in points you know. That's my shot is right there that the playoffs are right there in front of me. I gotta get by those two guys. And i'm in and it's gonna get i don't i'm not a prescriber to sixteen winners. I don't buy it. I don't believe it but the simple fact is we're going to have a lot of winners. I expect kabul to win. Brad kozlowski's not out of the question chase elliott..

Claim that checkered flag, not a lot of great people around me. Keep me pushing and we had a great offseason to prepare. My Rudy's come in and done a phenomenal job, and he knows how to how to push the right buttons with me and you know, I know exactly what he means when he says that, so I just had to go to work, and luckily we had enough car there. At the end behind Byron and Reddick were Martin Truex Jr. Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick completed the top five. Six through 10 went to Michael McDowell, Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman and Kyle Busch. After three races firing joins Michael McDowell and Christopher Bella's drivers locked into the playoffs following their wins the prior two weeks and Daytona NASCAR Cup series heads out West this coming weekend to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Right. I noticed that they tony. You had like an all white fire suit. How do you keep that thing clean. You don't yeah that was That's tough valvoline. paint scheme. looks so good firesuits. Look really good I think all white looks really good. It's just so hard to keep playing I think they have a couple of primaries this year so only got to make them last a couple of races but It is tough there destroyed after one race They wanted me to do that for chili bowl. And i said no way Cj who drives my car he he got an all white suit for chile will and it was destroyed after after practice. Pretty much so It is as tough for sure. The first thing. I thought of as that would not work in the days of thunder days. No for sure stuff used to get the pair used to move through the cars. So much more i mean. The cars were cooler inside because of it. Actually but i mean those guys would get so dirty back in the day. I just because there was so much more moving air and everything was sealed up how it is now. But now they're like They're sealed up pretty tight. Except for when i went through the grass i had grass everywhere so That firesuits probably half green at this point. But that's all right. Put mountain dew on that part of it. Yeah yeah if if they wanted to be on eighty eight car for sure. We're halfway there. You did a panting of matt benedetto. I saw it online. You can't get away from it but props to him. He kept the interview going yeah. He's not a very shy human being so it's one of those things we mess with each other. A lot and i did not continue the interview. I was very distracted by it. What happened and what was going on. So that was my way of getting him back so i'm really not looking forward to what comes next knowing him but i'm sure it'll be something i was gonna ask you. Expect retaliation probably It's fun to make fun of matt. you know. He drives for that other manufacturer. But he's still just went and bought a another corvette so We know he's at least got good taste and yeah he's he he just bought another is the are one. But you know. I saw the other day. And you know how corvettes have four taillights he. He had somebody take the tail lights out to like put tent on them. And like put different spoiler on the car. And they didn't tighten the bolts out one of the bolts up and one of the tail lights fell out going down the road. So that's embarrassment. He's got good taste in cars but yeah it's a little bit nursing. What what are you driving personally. No one of those. Yeah so he's actually copying me. He's got the same cars me now. He's he was going to buy the same wheels that i had on my car so i just sold him my wheels about something different. So we weren't matching but yeah you should go ask him about it because it's literally he's copying me. That's that's definitely interesting. Go out there and race. Yeah mine still going to be mine. Still gonna be faster though. So i mean it's obviously got the better driver so it's all driver of course nothing under the hood for sure now. Last time we spoke you were still working out the intricacies of assigned seating at movie theaters. Is there anything else technology wiser in two thousand twenty. That's baffling you I don't think there's been anything yet. I'm sure. I'm sure there will be that movie. Theater incident was largely embarrassing. Pretty sure i'm never going on a date ever again. After that that was that was a struggle But yeah nothing yet. I feel like something will definitely pop up and confuse the heck out of me and all embarrassed myself with it but nothing yet. Truth be told seventeen years. I've been doing this. This is the first time using my phone for notes. I used to use paper mainly because it was lighter. So i'm still getting into the tech stuff too. Yeah yeah there you go. I mean yeah. It's forever changing. Who would think that you have assigned seats at a movie theater. That there's twelve people and it just didn't make any sense. If i were just gone gone up one more row. Adam and just fine definitely definitely definitely all right so you got a bunch of sponsorships onboard this year. How do you keep track of them. All highest kelsey. What's on the car this week Yeah figure out what shirts to bring. And and i mean it's it's written on my chest on the firesuits so i guess i could just look down and figure it out but no it's it's been really cool to have some new partners on board obviously We have this week and chevy goods dot com and everybody. That's going to be out for the rest of the year. Really excited about all that so It'll be neat. I think the black and gold car looks really cool so looking forward to seeing that on the race track. Lamar looks good to its new paint scheme for them so it only looks a little bit similar to the valvoline paint scheme. Just a little bit. But but that's all right. That's that's that's a good luck to you once you're inside it kind of looks the same right. Yeah yeah you can't see it from From where i sit. So i'm here for it. Do you ever bring the wrong stuff to the track. Not recently so when i was driving for junior motorsports We had a couple of different sponsors on the car throughout the year. We went somewhere in. Dave ellen's was the crew chief and really all the sponsors were the same color scheme but he wore the wrong shirt like the race day shirt. He warned completely wrong. One week kelsey did my pr over there. as well. and i thought she was gonna kill him so It was it was a good day for sure with sports. Exploding ni- racing and that's something that you're interested in and doing. Yeah william started his own team starts. I started calling him. Mr be since he's got this big time. I racing team but I wanna talk to him next time. I'm gonna ask him well. How does that work. I mean nothing physical yeah he. He's spent some money on it so I don't know. That's i keep myself really busy with other things and i'm kinda maxed out at the moment. I think it's really neat. I play on. Ira seeing a little bit more to to play around and then taking that super seriously. Is it something you see yourself doing. After nascar maybe retiring you're eighty years old. You're sitting in your living room and you're still raising all that's gonna be so different when i'm eighty years old. Can you imagine what sim racing is going to become at that point Maybe i don't know all probably be at a dirt track somewhere though all right. All right alex bowman. I always appreciate the time. Still gonna be faster though. So i mean it's obviously got the better driver so it's all driver of course nothing under the hood for sure now. Last time we spoke you were still working out the intricacies of assigned seating at movie theaters. Is there anything else technology wiser in two thousand twenty. That's baffling you <hes>. I don't think there's been anything yet. I'm sure. I'm sure there will be that movie. Theater incident was largely embarrassing. Pretty sure i'm never going on a date ever again. After that that was that was a struggle <hes>. But yeah nothing yet. What's on the car this week <hes>. Yeah figure out what shirts to bring. And and i mean it's it's written on my chest on the firesuits so i guess i could just look down and figure it out but no it's it's been really cool to have some new partners on board obviously <hes>. We have this week and chevy goods dot com and everybody. That's going to be out for the rest of the year. Really excited about all that so <hes>. It'll be neat. Yeah yeah you can't see it from <hes>. From where i sit. So i'm here for it. Do you ever bring the wrong stuff to the track. Not recently so when i was driving for junior motorsports <hes>. We had a couple of different sponsors on the car throughout the year. We went somewhere in. Dave ellen's was the crew chief and really all the sponsors were the same color scheme but he wore the wrong shirt like the race day shirt. He warned completely wrong. One week kelsey did my pr over there. as well. and i thought she was gonna kill him so <hes>. It was it was a good day for sure with sports. Exploding ni- racing and that's something that you're interested in and doing. Yeah william started his own team starts. I started calling him. Mr be since he's got this big time. I racing team but <hes>. I wanna talk to him next time. I'm gonna ask him well. How does that work. I mean nothing physical yeah he. He's spent some money on it so <hes>. I don't know. Can you imagine what sim racing is going to become at that point <hes>. "Once again. Alex bowman welcome back to the program. Yeah thanks for having me all right over your shoulder here. It smelling pretty good. It's it's looking pretty good You got in and out burger there for lunch yet. Not for me for the guys. Yeah my my trainer would kill me. he doesn't know that i had a double double animal style fries and a chocolate shake yesterday when i landed. So we're just not going to tell them that but but today since odds are he's going to walk in here Not gonna eat that. Well you know this is broadcast and online and so he might find out some other way. Yeah we'll just we'll just send it and hope hope he doesn't all right. Kansas Speedway Starting Lineup: October 2020 (NASCAR Cup Series)

"Series rat of eight kicks off this weekend at Kansas despite other media members thinking it's more and other weird stuff. These are the drivers that are going to battle it out for four spots over the next three races Kurt Busch Alex, Bowman Martin tricks junior joey logano chase Elliott Brad Keselowski Denny Hamlin, and Kevin Harvick bloom that is a star studded pack of drivers there for sure. So eight races will be pared down to four for Phoenix. which is going to be the round of four, which is only one race I guess but I mean look at look at that lineup, you've got one, two, three, four, five champions. You've got the guy who's the perennial second place Cinderella story that never gets it done at any Hamlin the most popular driver and Chase Elliott, and then Alex Bowman as well. The future forty-eight drivers. That's pretty cool and we've got a great mix of manufacturers. Yeah. Yeah. No joke I mean we've got a pretty good representation of everything here. We got to Chevy's two toyotas. Fords right that were at. I see in three three chevys. Sorry. Three Chevy Chevy three forwards and two Toyotas. That's pretty good. especially when you consider how few Toyotas are in the field. That's that's par for the course you're only gonNA get two of them in there but that's that's a pretty impressive field of drivers for this. Finally, all right Kansas speedway opened in two thousand and one it's bad fast on the list of top ten fastest tracks, which is a weird list. Drivers, of course, have to dodge rows and rows of corn and wheat growing right there on the racetrack in between the workers and the cracks. would. That might not be true.

Ned lead by a big margin late in the race that day and Glen just kept hoping that his dad would keep it between the fences hoping the car would break because blend wanted so badly to get to victory lane and meet dock and Festus and a d. Got That opportunity so I like to watch gunsmoke. It's not only classic television but I know that that cast had a couple of true NASCAR fans back in the day xfinity Internet. That's more than just fast. Xfinity PROUD PREMIER PARTNER OF NASCAR. Welcome back to mass car live. You know it wasn't that long ago matter of fact a little over a month to be exact that Brett moffitt broke both his legs in a motor cross bike accident at Santa. Like you would be out of commission for a while but just last week. He was back behind the wheel. Woody Cain talked to Brett about as fast recovery and racing. Go karts to help get back to racing form. I guess of all the guys who are chomping at the bit to get back into action. You're one of them of course but you've been able to use this time to advantage because you had an injury that you're recovering from. Yeah Yeah I mean I think it's which came first the chicken or the egg because if we hadn't been Canceled at Atlanta. This never happened but ultimately I need the time to get back. Things are going really well. I broke both femurs completely all the way through the couple. Rods in my legs saying The recovery process has been tough. I'M NOT GONNA lie. It's painful allow today's But we're getting better every day and actually went go partying with Josh wise yesterday in in Racecar out at Gopro so that was the first true test driving a real race other than what I've been doing on. Ira's saw your post on social media. And how did that go? I mean you went like what almost twenty miles on forty five minutes or so. Yeah it was well the GP all jacked up. Because I'm using my running watch track. It doesn't really keep up at six so About forty two minutes. I think of carting anywhere really. Well he the the cards are probably more brutal than the race trucks themselves so if I can withstand that. I'm going to be in good shape when we get back to race in here will let's back up and tell us how injury happened because it's been what five weeks or so and you're on a bike yet yeah thereby Azariah motorcross with some friends and just came up short on a jump in went over the handlebars and I think my body weight versus my legs. Against the handlebars what broken. So other than that. I mean it's Kinda crazy 'cause when I was at the hospital in as asking you know. Initially my first questions were how long is it. GonNa take me back ice car. And they're like honestly we don't know because we haven't seen somebody break both femurs and not have a scratch on the rest of your body so it was Kinda Kinda crazy that I even kinda laughed at it to myself. I didn't have a road rash. Nothing house in a t shirt and jeans and fell broke both femurs not a single scratch.

"Mike Bagley. We are back on NASCAR LION as we go to the hotline bringing the winner of the virtual gyco seventy at Talladega superspeedway. Alex Bowman Hendrick motorsports back on the show. Alex welcome back the NASCAR live. Yeah thanks for having me. So you're a winner at Talladega at least on the virtual Sunday afternoon. I liked your tweet after the checkered flag that you don't understand how this could happen. Have you had a chance to process it? And what indeed did happen. Yeah I'm I'm pretty surprised I think a lot of other people are pretty surprised as well I have definitely been on the not taking this super serious side of things when it comes die racing so To to get a win on their with is surprising for me for sure. I Iran one practice race for like twenty five laps all week and Called it good and and Kinda Senate on Sunday so Cloud to get hundred motorsports and other win. I think William is much more talented than I am when it comes to the virtual thing and Just you know. Glad to get US three in a row but Had A lot of fun like I said. I'm confused on on how happened. I guess it got Super Lucky but ZAC that it worked out so how much I rarely experience do. You Have D. Even have a chance to win. Things were in regular life have a chance to do that or is it just one of the things that you've hopped on board with through the stoppage that we've been going through. Yeah you know once we. I think when dirt came out on IRA saying. I completely stopped running the pavement. I racing stuff So it's I'm definitely not a guy with a bunch of experience and You know you look guys like William that that have a big background in it and and have done quite a bit I'm definitely on the opposite side of that spectrum. Well it didn't look that way on Sunday. Congratulations it was a lot of fun to watch. It was as intense as it normally is. I'm sure that from from your perspective. It is a lot different in simulation then real life. It's been a while my friend since we've been on the race track matter of fact last time you guys were on the race track. It was fifty one days ago out there at Phoenix raceway. What have you been up to here last month in what we can half or so. Yeah Yeah I've I've actually stayed really busy. Surprisingly I feel like everybody talks about how bored they are. I'm probably busier now than than in a normal race season We finished building my shop in Mooresville so getting all moved into that getting everything. Set up there That has taken up a ton of time. I'm actually sitting here right now and The Fedex Guy is about to back into my truck. I'm pretty sure so. Hopefully that doesn't happen as I'm sitting out front 'cause I don't have any cell service inside but but now everything is Everything's been good. Just staying busy with that We we swapped we swapped engines. And my I see ten last week A four hundred twenty nine cubic inch seven in it so it makes a bunch of horsepower now. started building drift card. Just staying really busy I shouldn't be allowed to get bored because you know the first week or so that I I didn't have anything going on. I I bought a corvette to turn into a drift car and In created a bunch of projects for myself. So That's just me. When I get bored I I make a lot of work for myself. I had these projects been brewing. Or is this a case of in the spirit of boredom? You know what? Maybe I should try this. Yeah we're probably about half and half on that you know. I wanted to build a drift car but I don't think it was going to happen. This quickly And same with with the Times I've I want I had planned on swap in the engine and have engine ready to go But it probably wouldn't happen this quickly. So definitely It's nice to get some stuff done then. Pretty Productive But at the same time I am Wide Open. Have No free time right now. So it's kind of funny when I hear everybody talking about being bored. I'm like man. I'm I'm the polar opposite of that right now. I'm with you. I'm more busy now that I was under under normal conditions and of course we're counting down to when we can go back a couple of things that have happened saying want to get your thoughts on seems to be some scuttle but some discussion that we may be back as soon as the middle of. May talks like Darlington in Charlotte coming up. What are your thoughts on that? We could be about three weeks out. Maybe a month out from getting back to doing this. In in real life formation. You know it's I don't know who to believe or who to listen to. You know you see so many different versions of what's going to happen on twitter and all that so Just trying to figure out who actually listen to you and kind of just waiting for word on NASCAR BEFORE I really get my hopes up on something but at the same time whenever we do go back racing just trying to be prepared and ready to go as the biggest thing. The schedules going to be tougher than anything. The Cup series of seen in a long time and I think For able if I'm able to be Physically fit and ready and ready for that challenge. I think it'll be good for for for us for sure so Josh my trainer. He's been beating the crap out of me. Saturday was my birthday and I say in the morning I had to go run five miles in full winter winter gear. Winter Jacket and pants and all that so Trying to train for the heat. Because we know it's coming and be as ready as we can be. How were you able to celebrate your birthday on Saturday? Yeah With me and my dogs and that's about it so Yeah kind of The quarantine birthday birthday thing is is a little different but That's part of life trying to stay safe and stay healthy and keep ever everybody else safe and healthy as well with Alex. Bowman win the GYCO seventy over the weekend at Talladega superspeedway. The things that we keep hearing is Alex when we go back it may be two tracks that we can drive to whether it be Darlington or Charlotte or Bristol. Martinsville tracks like that. There are certain tracks. Perhaps maybe we could go to I as we get her way back into a full slate of racist. Are there any tracks within driving distance of Charlotte that you would definitely give thumbs up to us to going back in and racing at any any tracks in the in the near area of Charlotte that play into the wheelhouse of the eighteen? Right now Charlotte I'm ready to go to Charlotte I think Our our intermediate stuff right now is is the best Best PACKAGE FOR US. So selfishly. I'm like heck. Yeah let's go to Charlotte but there are a lot of cool racetracks around here You know whether it's short tracks that we don't go to anymore You know wherever I think between Darlington in Charlotte Martinsville Bristol everywhere. Around here is is neat for sure and fun places so I'd I'd be up for going to Hickory or or wherever as well so Wherever they told me to go I'll be there and I'm ready to go draft racecar for sure because the virtual thing isn't really cut out for me I can understand that when the updates become available folks be sure to dial dot com. We'll keep you updated their one more thing before we let you go. Ryan Newman announced before your race on Sunday. That he was ready to come back. He's got to obviously go through medical clearances in the like. What do you make about? Ryan Newman Getting Ready to join the sixteen again and join you back on the racetrack. Once you get going again and that's so awesome You know such a turnaround just from. I remember how fell leaving the racetrack in Daytona. Not really knowing if he was okay or not and then couple months later to to see him ready to go get back in a race car. That's that's unbelievable so Just really glad that he's Ok to begin with and the fact that he's getting on a race car again. is amazing and Says a lot about what NASCAR does to To make these cars safe because that was about as bad of a head as you can take and For him to to walk out of the hospital couple days later and And be get back. Cars is unbelievable. Yeah we definitely will welcome him. Back can't wait to see him back on the track. Can't wait to see you and greg. The team back at the race track appreciate the time. Thanks for joining us. And hopefully we'll catch up in person soon at a track to be determined. Sounds good thanks for.

"Than we had in the past. But everybody's got it and you're still you're still at the limit the tires we're lifting going through the corners at these places and you get to you get to a Michigan or you know California. Even we were lifting. You'd run wide open for a couple of APPS I think the that's where the ADA was strong out. There is that they run wide open longer than most people could. But even at that once you got ten laps through both ends so we do have a lot of downforce and we've got a little power we used to have but we're still tire limited and when you get to where outrace tracks where they're just Disney grip left in the asphalt and I'm not complaining. Sure let me make sure. That's the old asphalt puts on better racing I think but When we get to places at the asphalt just doesn't have any grip left in it the Atlanta's the homesteads the California's the Darlington's you know. Just how you how you continue to manage your tires and try to keep the the good in the tire as long as possible brings comers and goers makes makes for racetracks it where you'll have somebody who takes off the first five laps but he's GonNa come backwards in the last fifteen so really exciting racing for you as the direct line of Communication to the driver at tracks like that. What's the most important thing you have to stress to them? Just just to continue to save. I think you know. What are you stress too? We talked during a week. About what what we need to be focused on and Ryan done a great job without this so far this year and will continue to work on those things but You know it's just patients not letting your emotions get you because usually when you get emotional you get more aggressive and then you end up you know be enough tires more so just stay focused on on the big picture and where were the long run speak potential. We'll come back to you with some this front. Thanks thank you Dylan. Great Conversation there with Todd Gordon. The crew chief the number twelve Ford mustangs driven by Ryan Blaney. "A wanted man as the Nascar Gander are outdoors truck series makes its return to the track in Atlanta this weekend. All eyes will on four cup series drivers trying to beat over rowdy and went a one hundred thousand dollar bounty. It all started after bushes dominating performance and the truck race at Las Vegas. Kyle Larson tweeted congratulations to the two time champ. With three Cherry emojis a joking reference. That Bush is Cherry picking races. He knows he'll win. A joke that Larson receives at the dirt track. It was really a joke. And it wasn't. I'm not offended when Kyle Busch Wins Chuck Raises. I like law because I feel like it. It helps expose the guys who were you'll good And the ones who aren't new I think when when he does win and he has to battle for the winds. I think it shows which kids are really good so I'm more just drop some cherries on there. Because you when I when I do end races I do get a lot of that as well. So it's more a more of a dig it. You're the NASCAR FANS and dirt fans who give me crap also but in a different series I guess Upset Harvick enough that that he put a bounty up which is which is cool so I think it's great for the sport. Great for the truck series. Hopefully the ratings are even better for these. These races coming up Kevin Harvick's all the exchange decided Kyle Busch needed attest. He placed a fifty thousand dollar bounty on Bush challenging any FULLTIME Cup series driver to beat Bush and any of his four remaining starts in the truck series. This season three all in fun. I love what I love. Book Kabul does with his truck teams. And you know I talked to Kyle Larson. About about his three cherries. And that's really. That's really what what got it. All started because I thought he was kind of picking on him and I didn't realize that he gets the same treatment when he runs a dirt car so So yeah you know I think it's it's great for the fans Scrape for the truck series great for Atlanta Motor. Speedway is really good for everybody involved. I I didn't really anticipated blowing up like it did But we're going to have fun with it And you know follow along like like everybody else and really make it about the guys that are out there. Racing and and Stepped up to to raise with Kyle. And and you know Kyle for being as good a sport is kyle can be about it on top of Harvick's purse Marcus Luna's CEO of Gander. Rv outdoors added another fifty thousand dollars to the driver who meets Bush. And now we have four who've accepted the challenge Chase Elliott Kyle Larson Eric Jones and Brennan Pool Elliott says. He joined in because he thinks it's a fun opportunity. I was as simple as I reached out to us. Mike being attacked about it. And I don't know if you heard about this this it'd be Kinda Fun. He said cool. I'll work on it. You know and we came up and Maury Gallagher was onboard and thought it'd be fun and I thought it'd be fun on either GonNa Watch it on the couch. You're going to do it. So opted for be when asked what he thinks of the bounty and his competitors trying to take him down Kyle Busch says bring it. Yes all good. I think it's GonNa be interesting exciting. Whatever you want to term IT Cup drivers truck series do sell tickets so You know take that for what? It's I think. It's a unique opportunity for more attention on the series which is good Maybe if more drivers had more teams than Had Rides then there would be something else there besides just myself But I don't remember who I told but it was Harvick kind of the the idea out there is like the guy that's really really really going to have shot is going to be Larson. Homestead so Bringing home thank you what He. We're joined right now. By one of the truck series regulars will be competing in Saturday's race at the Atlanta Motor speedway and a driver that could take home fifty thousand dollars.

"Yeah so the thing. They're taking into this. A lot of people have been shave. Bat No kid ask are in an effort to kind of make things more relevant on their cars are switching to an eighteen inch aluminum wheel when you go to Luna Wheel. It's not quite as a durable as a steel wheel. So if you have five lugs on there and you have an issue which they have a lot at the these races where there's a lug nut that's a little bit loose. Yeah on an aluminum wheel if you have one lug. That's not quite all the way tie. That's thirty percent of the durability that is lost in that in that wheel and you have a chance of break in that thing at two hundred miles an hour or whatever it is each track. You don't want these guys possibly breaking a wheel out on the race track. That's just not good business. That's not very smart. It's not very safe. So you've got one net in the center of the wheel. The Guy is responsible for that one that you would think at that point. He would make sure that one. That is pretty Secure so I think this is a good thing all around. I had forgotten that they were using fifteen inch wheels. These like Prius is out there. What so that's the other thing. You look at what they were using all the way up to this point. And this is what they've been using since the fifties guys fifteen inch steel wheels those early. I mean it's tiny it's heavy. It's cumbersome no car on the street has this anymore you can get a kid. That's sixteen seventeen inch wheels anymore. This just doesn't make sense. It doesn't resonate with fans or people that drive cars On on the weekends so to be bit shaved. Lug Nut Thing. I hope people open their minds. Relax about it and realized that this is a necessary evil to get this component. That is actually something pretty close to what we have our streetcars. And I'm pretty happy to see it. I got nineteen on my car. Love it that's right. Hey get you some good news in the world of NASCAR. Tell us about the TV ratings from last week dude so TV ratings are awesome We have An increase this week which is a continuing trend of course so this weekend the race at Auto Club speedway which is usually a race. I don't think a lot of people circle on their calendar is a must watch right. I do and I'm sure you do but we kind of are in the know that that's going to be a good one right so there's other people though that are kind of outside of the support that to them for Daytona five hundred tune in for Bristol's and stuff like that. I don't think this is on the elite list so the fact that this race had a pretty good turnout viewers which was What's here four? Point eight million viewers on Sunday eclipsed totally destroyed the NBA. Game Between Lebron James Williamson by the way that game only had two point seven million viewers on the same day why? Espn so. That's huge This race has also up What was IT To to let me find this year it was up fourteen percent from the auto club race from last year. Obviously down six percent from Las Vegas which was the third race of the year last season. But it's a totally different track. So I think the more fair comparison is tracked to track and it's up fourteen percent from auto club last year. So that's pretty huge and the race at two point nine rating that's That's getting it done fraud club speedway I would say all right. Maybe the lawless over I love it and we had several weeks last year. Were ratings. Were up I think more than we're down the end of the year kind of balanced out and was pretty much even but We had that huge increase it Kansas. I think where it was like twenty percent. It was insane and this is a fourteen percent increase. Fraud CLUBS BE WAY. That's pretty good. We were seeing huge possible increases at Daytona before it was rain delayed and moved on Monday. So we're seeing some good stuff. Vegas was up and This is just what's happening people tune in all of a sudden the NASCAR is dying. Crowd is kind of silencing a little bit as these ratings keep coming in and we can keep this trajectory going. This is going to be a good thing. Awesome awesome to hear a couple of Jimmy Johnson stories. To let you know about we're GONNA we're GonNa hear this throughout the season. Obviously with this being his last full time here but He's going to be the Grand Marshall and give the command to start engines at Atlanta. That's pretty cool. That is cool. So that's that's an honor that lets you know that you're somebody pretty special in the racing world if they're gonNa let you do this while still competing That's pretty awesome. I think we're GONNA keep seeing a lot of cool. Jimmy Johnson tributes throughout the season which is as much hate to say it. But you know you've been a huge Jimmy Johnson fan forever. It annoys our listeners. This has gone his whole career with very little fanfare though and he's actually had a lot of people bash them throughout the years because he's so good and they just don't like him because he wins every time but he's a good guy he's never done anything really off color or to put himself in a bad light. He's been a A respectable person in the garage area through his entire career and it's awesome to see him finally getting some recognition and the other story. I see here Jimmy Johnson. His seat fitted for an upcoming indy-car test. Let me say that again. Indy-car test at Barber motorsports park. Yeah that's with McLaren so that'll be pretty fun too to keep up with. He's supposed to be running some road course indycar races next season and this will be as tuneup for. That's a pretty interesting I. I don't know if I ever saw that happening before. He mentioned it last year. I think that he kinda wanted to do that when he retired. Love his tweet by the way. Yeah so much for a roomy interior. That's pretty good. And he's he's really sneaky funny guy by the way like the. He's much funnier than people. Give him credit for pay. Are these canopies new? Did I not noticed that last year? Yeah no that's brand new. They've okay screen On it now will have a plexiglass or some kind of lexin windshield. There was a time with the halo over it as well. So Yeah Yeah I think formula. One has them now too. Don't they? Formula One has it without the plexiglas. Alexa and thing in there but it's And it actually has a bar that goes kind of splits Their their vision. They're right in the middle right. Well good stuff to see. I can't wait to see that saw this weekend. Let's get your setup for Phoenix raceway Recently I guess it was a couple of years now. Under one hundred and seventy eight million dollar modernization project. Virtually everything was new at the track. It's still kind of is new Fan Experience this is my favorite. Wi Fi everywhere. That's just awesome. That is awesome..

"I noticed that they. Tony had like an all white fire suit. How do you keep that thing clean? You don't Yeah that was That's tough fouling. The valvoline paint team look so good. The firesuits look really good I think all white looks really get. It's just so hard to keep playing and I think they have a couple of primaries this year. So only gotTa make them last a couple of races but It is tough. They're pretty destroyed after one race They wanted me to do that for Chili Bowl. And I said no way Cj who drives matter car he he got an all white super chill and it was destroyed after after practice pretty much so it is tough for sure. The first thing I thought of as that would not work in the days of thunder days. No for sure stuff used to get air used to move through the cars so much more I mean the cars were cooler inside because it actually but I mean those guys will get so dirty back in the day just because there was so much more moving air and not everything was sealed up how it is now but now they're like they're sealed up pretty tight except for when I went through the grass I had grass everywhere so That firesuits probably have green at this point. But that's all right out and do on that part of it. Yeah yeah if If they wanted to be on the car for sure we're halfway there. You did a painting of Matt Benedetto. I saw it online. You can't get away from it but props to him. He kept the interview going yeah. He's not a very shy human beings so it's one of those things we mess with each other a lot. He attempted to shove sharpie up at one point in an interview last year and I did not continue the interview. I was very distracted by what happened. And what was going on so that was my way of getting him back so I'm really not looking forward to what comes next Knowing him but I'm sure it'll be something I was GonNa ask you. Do you expect retaliation? Yeah probably it's fun to make fun of Matt You know he drives for that other manufacturer but he's still just went and bought another corvette so we always at least got good taste and yeah he's he. He just bought another one but You know I saw the other day and you know how corvettes four tail lights he he had somebody take the tail lights out to like. Put Ten on them. Different spoiler on the car. And they didn't tighten the bolts out one of the bolts up and one of the lights fell going down the road. So THAT'S I. He's got good taste in cars but yeah it's a little bit menacing what What are you driving personally? Now one of those yes. So He's actually copying me He's got the same cars now so he's he was going to buy the same wheels that I had on my car so I just sold him my wheels and bought something different so we weren't matching. You should go ask him about it because it's literally he's copying me. That's that's definitely interesting. You should go out there and race. Yeah Mine Still GonNa be mine still going to be faster though so I mean it's obviously got a better driver so it's all driver of course nothing. Yeah for sure now. Last time we spoke you were Still working out the intricacies of assigned seating at movie theaters. Is there anything else technology wise here in two thousand twenty? That's baffling you I don't think there's been anything yet. I'm sure I'm sure there will be that movie. Theater incident was largely embarrassing. Pretty sure I'm never going on a date ever again. After that. That was that was a struggle. Yeah nothing yet. I feel like something will definitely pop up and confuse the heck out of me and all embarrass myself with it but nothing yet. Droopy told seventeen years. I've been doing this. This is the first time using my phone for notes. I used to use paper mainly because it was lighter so I'm still getting into the tech stuff too. Yeah Yeah there you go. I mean yeah. It's forever changing. Who would think that you have assigned seats at a movie theater? That there's twelve people and just other didn't make any sense if I were just gone up one more row Adam and just fine definitely definitely definitely all right so you got a bunch of sponsorships onboard this year. How do you keep track of them? All Highest Kelsey. What's on the car this week? Search Yeah figure out what shirts to bring and and I mean it's it's written on my chest on the firesuits so I guess I could just look down and figure it out but No it's it's been really cool to have some new partners on board. Obviously we have Lamar this week and Chevy goods dot COM And everybody that's going to be out for the really excited about all that so It'll be neat. I think the black and gold card looks really cool. So looking forward to seeing that on the race track New Paint scheme for them so it only looks a little bit similar to the valvoline paint scheme just a little bit but but that's all right. That's that's that's a good looking to you once you're inside it kind of looks the same. Yeah Yeah you can't see it from From where I sit so I'm here for it. Do you ever bring the wrong stuff to the track? Not recently so when I was junior motorsports we had a couple of different sponsors on the car. Throughout the year we went somewhere and Dave Allan's crew chief and really all the sponsors were the same color scheme but he wore the wrong shirt like the race day shirt. He wore the completely wrong one week and. Kelsey did my pr over there. As well and I thought she was going to kill him. So it was It was a good day for sure with sports. Exploding and racing and that's sort of stuff that something that you're interested in and doing. Yeah William just started. His own team stopped. I started calling him Mr b since he's got this big time. I racing team but I WanNa talk to him next and I'm GONNA ask him. Does that work? I mean nothing physical yeah He. He's spent some money on it so I don't know that's I keep myself really busy with other things and I'm kind of maxed out at the moment. I think it's really neat I play on. Ira seeing a little bit more to to play around and then taking that super seriously. Is it something you see yourself doing after Nascar maybe retiring you're eighty years old? You're sitting in your living room and you're still raising all that's GonNa be so different when I'm eighty years old. Can you imagine what Sim racing's are GonNa become at that point Maybe I'll I'll probably be at a dirt track somewhere though all right all right Alex Bowman I always appreciate the time. Thanks so much and best of luck this weekend..

"Of high expectations throughout my years of this crazy sports and I've been let down a lot so some of my darkest days have come from high expectations so keep low expectations on expect much and my expectations -tations change in the moment so for example indy. It's like all right. I expect to run top twelve here in our on the top five on his Lazarus are I expect finished in the top. Five is like that but foreshadowing like I expect to Outrun top-five of Vegas on Sunday now. I'll be letdown. I could be let down. I'll say that I could be lead now and I don't want to go through that Wallace. Driving lesser equipment means his cars edge is different than a top tier car when when I'm when I'm running that good I know the car is on the absolute one hundred ten percent etch that Hunter and eleven percent would have been getting really tight closing your ass. You you think you're GonNa hit the fence losing momentum five cars go past you so for me. It's it's like dude. You have got your marks every lap. You have to drive the piss out of it because you can't just I'm going to back this corner up to get it to get off this corner. Hell no because blend. He's going to try to drive in there and so you got to find that mark you have to find that edge fast and for us you know when I'm making adjustments on the car it's like we had the same tendencies when cs like our tires get loaded up and pissed off and you start to get tight but other teams can kind of dry through that they know where the car is going to land and and be positioned by the time they get off the corner when we go in. It's like if I drive any harder when we pull out the backup car so you adjust to that and so for me it it was yeah I'm up here with these guys and they're expecting me to mess up so I didn't miss a and finally bobby. Wallace describes the underbelly of social media. There's there's there's this this kid that I've I've actually shut them down one time and he's still I think he's a kid. He's a teenager now. Being College kid but people are sending me has me blocked on things there's an instagram account that sent me his post and talking about my interview talking about how nobody expects you to run on twenty fifth and crashed cards every week and you don't know what you're talking about and I'm like Bro. Are you live. Are you living in my twitter feed and seeing what I'm getting. Are you monitoring the tweets that I get because after every post or is Nascar Fox. NBC Talking about me. It's like he'll go back and twenty-fifth next week. You'll crash next week. He'll do this next last week and it's like he's a he's crashed every every car this year. I'm like I have not for one. I don't know what they consider a crash so I. I don't know I don't know it's it's just it's I shouldn't be wasting my time but it's just like eats at me so when I said that stuff that's like hell yeah I get that all the time I was I was supposed to crash. I was supposed to run on twenty fifth at Indy. I'm supposed to crash and run Twenty Fifth Vegas. I'm supposed to do those things each and every week according to twitter but when I don't have nothing to say so the so bubba was in rare form like like I mentioned at the media center saying things that you just don't hear drivers say and I I love the honesty he's the few moments like that this season and I think he deserves a round of applause for up but yeah this is interesting and especially with what transpired during the race this weekend becomes even more interesting yeah yeah with the the underfunded car and then Kyle Busch slamming into it. Yeah that's true but I I don't know I don't put bubble in that that that category. He's he's above that at least no I agree the forty three is a little bit above that but you know still the lesser equipment with the top tier equipment and it just kind of funny that he was talking about at that on a week where that happens. That's a good point. That's a good point. Hey we're done checkered flag flying on this show twice now this has been weekly catch us next week right here when and we'll recap the racing at Richmond the action track action and preview the role at Charlotte. "Got one story in here so we're going to have to lean on Toby Christie dot com a little bit but I I'm Richard childress racing announcing announcing that driver of the number eight Chevrolet of there's Daniel Hammer he's gone released at the end of the season two thousand Nineteen Cup series doesn't show one top five on his stat sheet two top tens best finish coming at Chicagoland refinish third Daniel said quote. I'm disappointed ended like this yeah no kidding but but we've got nine more races together because that's how it is Nascar you're fired but can you raise the car for nine more times. I'm going to do all I can to make sure we get all all those goals is what he's talking about and finish the season strong and quote ripe and so this obviously paves the way for to be in the Cup series next season talk to him. I'm by the way at Las Vegas as well. I'm sure he had a little bit of pep in his step going to be a new dad to actually very surprised that we didn't put that interview on the show since he won this week. Yeah I'm surprised is too but the you know the the entertainment value out in this case sorry okay so this is big for hasn't been officially announced but it's obvious can be tied Redican back in the eight car. He's had a heck of a season five expenditure series wins even in his part Time Cup series runs with our see are the two starts who said he already already had a top ten on the on the record there so halfway to Daniel Henrich do season stats in just two races so Hammer great right driver great guy and I feel so bad for him but at the same time I mean this is just had to happen. It's it's Tyler Riddick if you don't move them to the Cup series us you definitely have a chance of losing what could be a blue chip. PROSPECT CRANKS ARE CR had to do what they had to do. What's this Dale earnhardt thing Talladega yeah so so at the upcoming thousand Bulbs Dot Com five hundred at Talladega the Cup series of the playoff race Richard childress will actually be driving a pace vehicle in the parade lap which will be Dale earnhardt Sr two thousand Winston five hundred winning car the last race that Dale Earnhardt ever wanted his career that car will be pacing the field at Talladega? That's pretty cool. I'm I'm still hung up on the sponsor of the race. A THOUSAND BULBS DOT COM at Talladega where they have no bulbs Bergen Point but yeah so the cool thing is if you weren't a fan back then or if you just kind of want to remember which race this was the one where earnhardt charged from eighteenth I and less than four laps to go onto the women that there was a dramatic race what else we got over there at Toby Christie Dot com the toxicology report has come back on Nick Harrison's death the crew chief for colleague racing who died back at the end of June now. How does that happen because NASCAR drug tests everybody to death while literally in this case while it's random random so you know they might not have gotten around to him yet? so the the you know that's not good but it turned out the North Carolina China Medical Examiner's Office released their findings in it seems that the death of Nick Harrison was actually an accidental acute cocaine oxycodone and alcohol intoxication so no good yeah no kidding. Hey we got bubba Wallace on coming up in a few minutes and I guess he got a new sponsor or for the Charlotte race. Wow Oh bubba wallace. Oh yeah sorry I didn't hear you okay. Yes Wallace says a new sponsor coming up. That'll be pretty awesome. it's actually leaf cars dot COM Leith cars dot com which one of the no clinically audio never heard of him while apparently they're a very good dealer over there. North Carolina realize that many people down that way now all right well. It's a great to see the sponsorship money coming into Nascar but Jesus you pick a road course with BUBBA Wallace. It's one struggled mightily last year olds. I mean no offense but he doesn't like the place that being said he did make quite a few highlight reels by flying through that wall last season so maybe that's what they're thinking. We'll get some publicity here. Maybe he'll be on TV for a bad reason. Possibly also I Kinda WanNa touch on this last week. In the expenditures qualifying session Lancaster qualifies off is ninth and Morgan Shepherd's number eighty nine car that is incredible. That's the best cars qualified and like over a decade so that's impressive but he's on the entry list for the expanding series rates this week at Richmond in the exact same car so while they probably won't run the actual race they'll probably start and park. It'll be interesting to see where Lancaster Annan castle qualifies and I saw him in the garage area. I can confirm that his hair is still okay all right very good yeah because we're always worried about that around here. Definitely it's it's a solid had a hair and coming from someone who has none I can be envious and you're absolutely are looking ahead had this weekend. We've got to Richmond International Raceway I if you look at it from above it looks like a one point five mile oval that is deceiving because it's not no it's half that it's a short short-track so oh it's the action track oh no action filled with action with playoff implications online yup yup and maybe they can bring their Las Vegas Restarts Ooh now. You're talking so if you if you if you ask most drivers the most basic question there is to ask by media member. What's your favorite track Mr driver? What's what's your favorite track? The answer's probably going to be Richmond right but you had another answer last time but I don't need to get into the yeah not remember which was now race number. Two in the NASCAR Cup series playoffs playoffs at least for the while. I said that the cup series the other series are on a completely different schedule and tracked and I don't get it. Oh Yeah I was I I don't know and truck is like almost over with and I just I can't follow all that okay. Place Holds Ninety eight thousand rabid screaming foaming at the MOUTH NASCAR FANS although I don't think that many are gonNA show up holly well they haven't in years yes even at Richmond. Richmond still gives a pretty good pretty turn out. Don't they don't know they have that weird top deck way up there and that was pretty empty okay well. We'll see it's it's a point seven five Mile Oval not too much banking in the turns at fourteen degrees. France stretch is twelve hundred ninety feet backstretch eight sixty so not even near he quit distant not even close not even ballpark. We shouldn't even be talking about it. It wasn't that close speaking of ballparks. Did you hear my Los Angeles dodgers of clinch the National League West so we do they still have you darvish. No thankfully we're GONNA get him back. No because of you they lost the world series because of you yeah not me but you darvish both what I have anything to do with that because you were so big I always amazing. He's GonNa win you guys the trophy and all and he was awful just flat out awful. I really thought because he was like your third pitcher and he's supposed to be an ace so I thought your third pitchers not the ace hit us up with some stage lengths back here in Nascar land yes so stage one will end at lap. One hundred states too will end up two hundred and you know as long as the race ends on time lap four hundred that means the last stage we two hundred laps so four hundred relapse total three hundred miles last year's winner was Kyle Busch in this event. The spring race winner of this year was Martin tricks junior yeah and so I would think that culpa pretty confident about their chances this week while since they have nothing to lose they could literally go for the win and that's it right plus. They want here earlier this season. He's also one of the best road racers Acer's in the sports and that's next week so he should be in pretty good shape 'cause he did mention they wanna try to work out some more points right so I think they're going to be trying to do that definitely check out all the short-track Action Track Action Saturday nights seven thirty. PM EASTERN ON NBC S. N. Bing in being being being `send but so it's now Saturday night. I'm so confused last week. It was Sunday night now. We got Saturday night right. I think we might be seeing more Sunday night in the future with how did I hope not that really messes with my schedule it does it does totally. We don't really care about your schedule well. I've got a deadline Sunday night to get my Monday shows out and that's just not conducive to to make that happen. Well well what I've got deadlines well. I'm sure other media members due to losers drivers and the danger zone Kenny loggins style after one playoff race Cup series are now you know it's been this way for a little while but three ray segments four drivers getting eliminated at the end of each of these segments and that's on the schedule of course the four drivers in danger zone after one race at Las Vegas Motor speedway Mr Second Gear Eric Jones in sixteenth. Mr pole-sitter can't get it done Clint Boyer Kurt Busch who loves the wall and Ryan Newman who finished his top ten is still on the list so it's Richmond under the lights this weekend race number our two in the playoffs Martin tricks junior of course locked in to the next round because of his win but Ryan Newman is just six points behind Erica Merola. I guarantee you over the next tier. ACIS Ryan Newman makes up that six point deficit guarantee you done in the sixty lock it in with his hot dogs and stuff. Don't care lock it in now. I think Eric's bring his bacon. Everybody's been saying this to me all your even when it was going to the playoff time and every show is on everybody had talked to knew it was going to get new was gonna get it and there's no way drivers feeling racy at Richmond yeah well at least the top five in points anyway because we're not doing the same way we used to because Jimmy's not even on this list but hey wait a minute I'm going to be that just occurred to me. He's never going to be analyst analyst for the rest of the season right breaker no next week. I'm going to add him as a special bonus driver. Oh my goodness yes you would you would I would yeah that I wouldn't put that pass me right all right so Martin Junior drives the nineteen car one last week Richmond by the way. I'm GonNa give away the farm here these top five drivers all have wins at Richmond. I noticed that and thought interesting wow so anyway. Martin has one of those wins four top five ten top tens a pole but his average finish is terrible at eighteen point four okay how about Kevin Harvick at number two in the standings endings here three wins fifteen top five twenty four top tens and three poles at Richmond average finish quite a bit better than marchers junior at seven point nine at one point. He was winning everything at Richmond in the city series. Yeah I think he's gone through stretches of that in every kind of series at some kind of attract yeah so Joey Logano is sitting in third erred and he's got two wins at this track nine top fives twelve top tens of poll and then another pole at an average finish of Levin point one. How how you did that Nice recovery right? That's pretty good. Remember this Kyle Busch. The Guy who you believe is a big crybaby yeah yeah okay. I'm glad you didn't back down from six hundred seventeen top fives twenty one top tens and a pole average finish is the best in the series at Richmond six point nine six four Brad Kazlauskas Hausky is fifth and in the point standings currently at Richmond. He's got a win four top fives ten top tens and only one poll his average finish there or is thirteen point one five whoa yeah yeah totally so the action track so much action which they should rename Las Vegas. There's a lot of action action and when you look at Las Vegas from above it looks like a one point five Mile Oval and cut okay reference. I get I get the reference I got it. Getting cut lawless last week in the media center was is in rare form towards the end of his little speech there everybody looking at each other going. Wow is he really saying all this stuff. Wow we've got a portion of that. The the good stuff I took the fillet and that is next on T. F. L. W. like us at facebook. Dot Com slash the final lap. The final AP weekly is back and here's your host Kerry Murphy Toby Christie just a couple of guys talking racing my name's Kerry Murphy. His name is Toby Chrissy McCall entire program around the final lap weekly and it's time now for two reiver's say bubble. Lawless is the forty forty-three car and expectations. They're a bit overrated in the sport of NASCAR. According to Mr Bubba obviously is a competitor you want to keep raising your expectations expectations and beyond that level of where it's like every second guy here and win an end have a good finish run top three but I've had a lot of high expectations throughout my years of this crazy sports and I've been let down a lot so some of my darkest days have come from high expectations so keep low expectations on expect much and.

"Worried about you. Look at the guys right in front of him. They will make a mistake and Ryan. Newman will not done nothing nothing to show me otherwise this year Joey Llegado he was he led a bunch of laps in this thing and looks like everything was going his way until Daniels warez had something to say about that yeah he won stage. One Am was just a couple of laps away from winning stage two until tricks cut around him but but yeah then stage three Daniel Suarez just walloped him pretty good like you were talking off off air. They were exchanging hand signals all sorts of things yeah there. There was quite a bit of damage that twenty two car make no mistake. We were not talking off air about that. We were talking looking as if we were doing the show however one of us was recording and the other was not I don't know what you're talking about. I think that this show has gone great and I will say that you've made less mistakes the second time around this is our second go around of segment one. Because of course I recorded my side of the conversation but toby after we're finished breaks the news to me and says I didn't record my side so basically useless yeah so I will say in the history of plus doing this show together that I'm the only one I think that's made that air and I've done it multiple times but it has been a long time since this happened it has and I even asked. Are you recording. I do it every time before the program. It's kind of the most important thing and of course I tuned out when you're asking it apparently and just yeah so from now on. I got to think of something else to get your attention yeah. He sparked my interest. Where are we now? Kyle Larson didn't hit any walls. Wow Justin Kapuscinski is going to be excited about that. Yeah Yeah William Byron also an interview of Mine Nice. He also rebounded from a spin to finish in the top ten there and nearly went a lap down but as luck would have it was like right by a a pit entrance so yeah and his teammates slowed down to make sure that you laptop everything and I'll work that well yeah. That was a little iffy. There in my opinion was it. That was a little iffy yeah. I think so we've because he's slow down the pace of the car I mean he could have been passed and Joey was trying to do they. They could have passed them but they didn't. I know I think that's an iffy call right there. Alex Baumann on the program in just a few minutes at number six is where he finished whoa yeah you're GonNa WanNa stay tuned for that. That's going to be a great one on this very show greatest interview in the history of the show wow well okay even better than like the Landon Castle Salon where I was ripping apart ripping him on the air. We've had the king on and Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson Stewart Yeah. We've had we've had yeah 'em to so okay. It's a good interview. Just Hang Tight Okay Ryan Blaney Number Five. Do we do that one. No we didn't and yet but this is a good solid run for him. Even in the closing moments of this race kind of like he had a shot to win this thing he was mixing it up there for the lead for you know a couple of APPs in there all penske guys yeah the the the penske files are working pretty good this week definitely chase Elliott like you mentioned off air quietly got it done there at number four yeah so we didn't hear much about him. He did lead a little bit during the race and he was pivotal to the William Byron staying in lead lap thing but I had a solid the night fourth-place Brad Kazlauskas so those were that's like a nice pockets of of young guns right there and now we've got the old guys in the top three right so Braga's Hausky now an old guy sorry to say has hood up at one point on pit road but I guess that was meaningless just wanted to maybe give the engine in some air. I just want to give her a chance. You know just wanted to make it a little bit more challenging for them and then and then they got a solid finish out of it in a great start to the playoffs Brad Keselowski that's kind of what they need is is solid runs. Kevin Harvick looks like he was going to dominate this whole thing. Take another win barring but thankfully he finished second yeah. It looks like he was gonna go onto that what fourth win the last eight races or something like that unfortunately his car had the short run speed and at the long run speed and that's why our eventual winner was able to scoot around him and Costa off into the sunset as the race winner this was this was a hard race for crew chiefs. I mean like we said the race. I started in the sizzling sun crazy crazy temperatures both air temperature and track temperature and then eventually it cools down and it ends under the lights at night yeah yeah I I liked it. I think the Sunday night NASCAR thing was great. The the TV ratings obviously reflected that it was a good idea yeah I kind of called that last week but okay and I I think it all turned out really good. I I liked it a lot. Let's head to victory lane now where they have the checkered flag in the burn earn outs and the celebrations and you generally a lot of happy people because that's kind of the whole goal of the weekend is to end up in that place and that guy that guy was Martin tricks junior well. I think it's huge. It's huge for a lot of reasons. you know first off. We've had a stretch of six or seven races may be six that we've been really strong and and we feel like we've had car scale of winning and we we honestly don't have a whole lot to show for it. We had no no bonus points in that stretch and it was getting frustrating. Ah But we knew we really fast and we knew working in the on the right. Things and I knew the team was doing a great job so it's Kinda like for us. Inside of our own minds is kind of kind of vindication that hey we are we were doing the right things. We are doing the right things and you know when when we can get things to roll our way and not make any mistakes this is what we can do so great the great timing obviously with the playoffs starting to be able to do it and you know. I think a lot of people have been like hey. Where's the nineteen band? We don't expect to be strong and we know we know we can't we know what we can do so when we when we live up to our potential makes us all happy and and I know everybody that makes this happen coach and and Johnny and Jeff and all the men and winning back at the shop they seen this. They knew what we were capable of so that for me that just feels good to do the job we're here to do and you know. Hopefully we can can carry this momentum. All most importantly the playoff points huge we got six tonight and we got two more weeks to try to get some more with no consequences and Martin Church Juniors and talk to us about those wild restarts starts. Yeah I mean I honestly I think the the start of the race is always a lot more calm than restarts you know because nobody really knows what they have yet. They know is the beginning of the race. There's a lots going happen. Everybody just kind of feels car out for a couple of APPS so the initial start is usually a lot calmer then restarts and I feel like as you go through the rice every restart. It gets a little more crazy because everybody's cars are getting a little more better better dialed in everybody's getting more confidence usually the track especially a place like here where it's cooling down the tracks getting faster asked her second be more aggressive so they definitely ramp up throughout the night. you know the first one is definitely the most the most. She'll is crew chief. His name is Cole Porn and he breaks it down. I mean that just seems to be your strength rights. You've got to play to your strengths. obviously when we had that one caution the forgot the lead you know oh he was you know he was flying there. forbid you know the track down after the Yellow and they've been their approaches to be pretty trimmed out but even towards the end of that run. We're starting to make a lot of time on them and you know when it's green that was that was really good for us. Obviously Bradley ill there could have been totally different story and that's just that's kind of how wow this racing is. You know you're GonNa make your bed whether you're GonNa be good on showrunner in the long run and it's just got to play off for us so it's it's kind of nerve wracking and having all that stuff outside of your control is is this is what it is and Cockburn Coburn called Pearn says they've had some bad luck lately but that will change mega. Oh it's huge. I mean you you never know can happen you. Can you can go and think you're gonNA run well On something bad happens yet twenty the next to us and they had a good car and something weird happen all of a sudden. You have a bad day so yeah if winning in not having to worry about that's huge but richmond ruled there to really attracts for us so we're kind of going on approach of you've you know keep her foot on the gas and hopefully we can rack up more playoff points to those two places and he apparently just wants to keep talking and he he owns the segment now for the third third time now. MR chief is confident heading into the next two races. Well yeah no kidding you have a win under your belt and you're locked in yeah. We've honestly we ran really well. You know we had a really ca-car Bristol in tire down and we ended up pit road in Darlington with good car and then we got wrecked on pit road at Indy with good car and it's just you know you have stuff like that happens you just kind of fly under the radar but you know we're kind of coming here. It was we were optimistic with the being hot and you know similar similar Charlotte where we ran really well at this package so so definitely a for us when it's hotter and slicker it's it's a lot better. That's where Martin is. is really good at it. We got actually wheel thing and it's not just hammered down down. Who's got the least drag kind of deal so deflate for us? It was we're optimistic coming here so Colton is like the Anti Rodney chillers because we usually have him on here when Harvick wins and every week cars good people good things are good if colpon and he's animated and just enthralling to listen to and it's like wow this is awesome so so that's kind of different to see how about this speaking of things that are different. How about Joe yes? Our sport is very different and that you gotTa have four teams worked together to really gain knowledge what happens at the race track. Make the right calls an right adjustments and does show show you how harder sport is last week. We had all four cars had issues. They have four cars. They all had issues this week. We had three of them in shows a harder sport is it's a ad soft and a real compliment to co and what he was able to keep the nineteen up there he and Martin and also we had great pitstops at the end of total team effort. Hey Hey he said it. He said it he said it heck yeah man finally I don't you know he's been doing a very good job of not working in here. Lately I think you've been listening to the show Yep but he did that time very right at at the very end to and it was awesome effort south great just because you know people may be listening to our show. They don't believe us that he actually says that I know so now we have proof. I think he did that one for us. Though I really feel like it was to perfect the total team effort.

"This is the final land weekly by with us today is Alex Bowman, the program, first of all, thanks for having me. All right. Second of all, you just finish up with some TV stuff. Did you ever think when you decided, hey, I want to become a racecar driver going to be doing TV stuff? Yeah, it's I do more of that more. Sometimes you do more media stuff than you do actually drive in the race cars. So they got me pretty busy this week between the car on the west KARN all obligations, but it's fun to be out here and snow Ma and excited and ready to go or anything that's a secret. You know, in the TV side that you didn't know before now that you're on the other side of the camera, just that it's all the reality shows are fake and it. It's drives my girlfriend crazy because she watches like the bachelor and the bachelorette and her sister is currently filming a reality show and she's like, it's all fake. So they're, they're distraught. The bachelor and bachelorette are apparently fake. You get a sense of relief once you get inside the race car that you know, all that other stuff is over with sometimes. Yeah, sometimes you just get weekends that are so full of obligations that kinda your calm time almost is is in the race car. But this week's not too bad. I'll be bounced back and forth between the two cars more than anything, so we'll be fun, but it's just part of the job doing that for some extra time on the record. Yeah, I haven't been here in a couple of years and felt like more laps could only help. So I think we'll, we'll be good. Hopefully it'll help out. I don't really know what to expect on the on the road course out of things. I don't really know if I'm going to be any good at it or not, but I'm gonna try really hard. So hopefully it works out trying important. Do you do anything in the way of homework to prepare for something like this normal stuff, watching race, tapes, and all that good stuff. But at the same time we went to the wrong fellow school yesterday for the Hendrick drivers did. And that was a lot of fun. Just doing whatever I can to try to be a little bit better. It's really hard to do anything. I mean, driving corvettes at the wrong fellow school. It's so different than than a Cup car that it's hard to apply some of the things, but. I think every bit helps different how I mean, you got us a clutch to shift for one you're on year in a streetcar on street tires. Cars are just vastly different. They don't make the power that these cars make. They don't have the grip of these cars have. They're all around a lot. Your regular seatbelt and wearing shorts driving around me just every little thing is different. So yeah. Well, that's ups working after they start overheating, but, but yeah, that's like your cue that you've gone too long and you need to let the car cool off as air conditioning stops working. So when it was one hundred and eight degrees and spring mountain, we, we could go like two and a half laps, and then they're like, all right, no more air conditions off. So that's pushing it the the guys GM should have you guys run these cars? Yeah, I don't think they're designed to run in the middle of the desert at one hundred and ten degree weather like as hard as they can possibly go so that we're all running nose detail so that the two cars behind. In line aren't getting any air, but there's a lot of fun. It was. It was really cool. I talked to William Byron a few minutes ago and I guess you convinced him to his own corvette. Yeah, I, I don't know that it was really me that can commit that convinced him. Yeah. I'll take credit for it though. I guess I'm really disappointed about an automatic, but at least it's not a convertible. So you heard it here? I automatic. Yeah. Yeah, Greg, we weren't talking about you, Greg. Just bought a c. t. s. v.. Yeah. Yeah. You just ruined this whole interview. That's okay. So Greg has a tough time waking up in the morning and get little racetrack on time, but no, Greg is..
