"Those mitchell's show. Tell me about getting in airline job so that was always the end goal. I i remember debt talking to my dad and my dad's friends in high school. I wanted the airlines to airline career. But i wanted to serve my country. I wanted to do both. And that's when we came up with the plan for me to pursue the reserve. If i still had that burning desire to serve my country which i did in college So then after that I was building my flight. China is flying on active duty orders during operation iraqi and enduring freedom and building my flight time and several airlines started to crack the doors open on hiring instill i was able to throw my application in and of fortunately i. I got a bite and part of that. A big part of that was in college during one of my summers. Instead of going home and goofing offer getting a summer job. I did an internship with a major legacy airline and i i kept up with those contacts and kept him informed of what i was doing and When the door cracked open at major legacy airline of they highly encouraged me to put my application in so that resulted in an interview. I was hired in august of two thousand seven And it has been a blast. It's been thirteen years now. Just hard to fathom. I was hired onto the set of thirty seven. Spent nine years flying. Second thirty seven newark new jersey houston texas And then i upgraded to the seven eighty seven seven eighty seven out of la and san francisco. And i've loved every single second. I have zero regrets. I've met some of those wonderful people and the best life on friends ever through the airlines. Show you were with. I assume you were living in las vegas at the time. Is that true or we we were. I was a commuter for many many years muslim. Majority of my thirteen because mark was active duty. So i commuted from alessia commuted from wichita falls texas. And then i commuted from a field. Ohio enough sixteen or to you than i commuted from Some surfer and columbia south carolina and a little bit of charlotte in there couldn't sometimes at a drive to charlotte and then when he went to korea for a year i moved to houston texas and I was actually hired into a management position. A management position in in the chief pilots office and so i moved to take that position and mark was in korea. And i did that for about two years. I spent a year as a seven thirty seven instructor and alligator which was really great. Uh-huh houston and then. I went back into the pilots office on the management role as well then after that we marcus was finished with his your career and he spent a year out here in las vegas we go bachelor bachelorette for about a year. And then he went to the reserves and was able to move back to houston with me and he was hired at a different legacy airline and was based in atlanta and so was flying back and forth to atlanta and houston and las vegas and so we collectively decided. Hey let's move out to the west coast because we both could be based in los angeles fire respective legacy airlines and We decided to for cost of living to live in las vegas and

"They're national vibe where they may kind of take a second look at Taylor in a different way. So that could help her as well. It'll be to see. You know if this does get nomination, it also helps that you know the the field itself is just a wider field that you can have more nominations instead of just five that you used to have a number of years ago. So it'll be interesting to see what happens. I mean look at you know who got nominated for album of the year last year bone of air. So you know what? With the with their the power of their forces combined. You know it's like a one or two. Yeah. Right, Keith. We gotta get to my interview with Alexia Kara. It was it was really great kind of catching up with less year. This was a couple maybe one or two weeks ago. We talked about a few different things including what she's been up to during quarantine as well as. This summer live off the floor, which is an EP she she put out an EP that I really loved last year called this summer and this was kind of a kind of a really playful like in-studio live versions of all six songs from this summer and the the cool thing about it is also and she talks about it in this interview, she's donating her share of the net royalties of of this project to save the Children for the next twenty one years. Really cool to catch up with Alaska and take a listen to my interview with her. Less it is very good to catch up with you. We're doing this for the pop shop podcast on door. Thank you so much for for happening on the pop chef podcast is always How how are you doing how live I kinda every time I talk to an artist I just kind of want to check in and see how the last couple of months have been during this insane time. Been Definitely insane to save released it's been good though I feel like I'm getting into a groove where I have like developed for routine in my day which I don't typically have because. Being touring artists Mike. In a new place every day doing a different thing every day. So it's been Nice denote spent time with family and stuff but it also kind of drives you nuts at times when you're so used to being everywhere now like nowhere but it's been did I can't complain. Because I was wondering because you've toured especially the past three years or so you or a ton. And what is do? NECES-. At like how how the you been just in terms of like the first month being stuck at home verses now in four five. I think yeah. The first couple months were definitely the hardest KAZAA coming off of tour for like a straight year, and then it was like from that to like. A complete one eighty just doing nothing at all, which is really tough. and. Also, I mean, the state of the world is also like kind of a mess. So is definitely overwhelming to see everything I think there is the first time I've ever experienced that the world go through something collectively at the same time that was like that intense. So he definitely felt that energy feel like now hopefully, things are getting back into a good. Place so feels a little lighter and I'm getting used to being home but I feel like the second I'm GonNa. Get released to I'M GONNA have to start working as normally. End is going to like that always happens. It's like the second unit uses on the start up again but. Again. They can't complain it's been been. Have you developed any new hobbies or try your hand at any new activities while? Yeah a little bit. I've been cooking a lot more than usual, which is good because I never typically have time to cook. So not the greatest yet, but I'm getting there made some a few things that that I really like without through. Your go to dish what's been your crowning achievement. Will notice summertime I like to Barbecue Law. So I do like all kinds of barbecue chicken steak I just made like a flakes the against today was like pesto sauce trivial good and what else lots of fish trying to eat healthier than normal. So like lots of fish like grilled stuff that Shebelle's all that s been like the go-to philosophy months well, awesome I. I definitely want to catch up because I I really loved the release I loved what you to these existing songs and. Listening to over the past. I wanted to just ask where this idea came from to kind of develop this new take on these existing songs occurs. Yes so Initially it was going to be just an acoustic ep like just guitar and vocal, which is what I. Usually do was a lot of my songs that kind of you know typically giving in. So a major Chris brought up doing that for the entire project instead of a few songs time, and so I got A. Phone. With my friend John Levin who produced the entire EP and he was like, well, why don't we do like an even bigger cooler thing where we do like live off the floor like a bunch of musicians make full thing such. Stupid, sounded. So awesome I've never done anything like that and I. Mean That's how I love to listen to music. I love according music that way. You know raw raw as possible. So this was like the perfect thing I'm so glad we did it 'cause just broadly around to the songs that were typically lake. Originally very confidence straightforward songs. Now they're like I feel like hearing them. This way just makes them a lot more GIC like. I Dunno feels it feels a little bit more motion than they do on Erie talking. I love just like the orchestra arrangements in hearing.

"Okay let's do the chart chat I up. It's all about Taylor swift this week as the superstar rules both billboard two, hundred albums chart and the billboard hot one hundred songs chart. Her surprise album folklore debuted at number one on the billboard two hundred while its single Cardigan. COSIES up with debut at number one on the billboard hot one, hundred songs chart intern. She becomes the first act ever to debut. Charts in the same week that's pretty crazy. folklore starts with a hundred, a hundred and forty, six, just two, hundred, eight, hundred, eight, hundred, and forty, six, thousand equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending July thirtieth. According to Nielsen Music MRC data of course. That marks the largest week registered for any album this year and the biggest sense Taylor. Swift's own last album lover. which debuted at number one on the September seventh twenty, nineteen data chart with eight hundred, sixty, seven, thousand units, not really all that much more than folklore. Really. Focal remarks swift's seventh number one album on the billboard two hundred tying her with Janet Jackson for the third most number ones among women. Ahead of them are only Barbra streisand with eleven and Madonna with nine. Meanwhile. Meanwhile. Over on the hot one, hundred songs chart the folklore single card again. Comes charging in at number one or maybe knits at swayed in number one. Sure. Plus two more folklore songs also debut in the top ten as the one in exile debut at numbers four and six respectively. Actually there's a whole slew of Taylor swift songs all over the chart this week. In fact, what we're saying right now is just the tip of the Taylor Swift, Chart Iceberg between Gary, trust and I and Kevin Rutherford and a whole bunch of other people. There are about forty five different stories about all the different chart statistics that Taylor Swift achieves this week on the billboard chart history. Books. So I'm merely only mentioning a couple highlights. The whole kit and caboodle is online at DOT com. This is not a seven hour podcast unfortunately. So can't really tell you seeing one of them. All that set. Card against arts with thirty four, million US streams and seventy one thousand copies sold in the week ending July thirtieth while also drew twelve point seven, million, all format radio audience in the week ending August second. Cardigan marks swift's sixth number one on the hot one, hundred songs charts you know it's interesting in terms of this strategy the folklore started with eight, hundred, forty, six, thousand, equivalent album units I'm I'm happy to say that I was very wrong about. How high this album was going to I thought it was going to be just because you know it's a surprise release way less emphasis on how to actually buy the albums in in terms of not having physical copies available I thought it was gonna be you know a couple of hundred thousand? Equivalent album unit. Short lover. And that eight, Sixty, seven, thousand unit mark meanwhile, it almost reach it almost pass it. We came within spitting distance of it. I think honestly. Part of it is is just about the timing. With everyone kind of focused on new music and just being still stuck at home and and also a lot of interest in this album as as kind of a change of for Taylor swift obviously Taylor strips a huge superstar. The reviews of this album have been very, very positive I think it's a great album and I think that it's it's exactly kind of what NOT ONLY TAYLOR SWIFT FANS Wanted without knowing that they wanted it but also just kind of the general population was a lot more curious about this album. I have friends who just don't really like Taylor, swift and really like this album and I think that that's part of the success. How did you convince them to listen to the album? Did you just say like Hey I've got an MP three download just don't look at any of the titles. Download just how Know honestly it's. It's friends who are into like the national and bone of air, and we're just like you know her that Aaron destler did a lot of this album heard that bona there. WHO's the guy from the national right? Yeah and I think that this kind of broad in even if they didn't love it they at least were curious enough to kind of poke around this album and then the songwriting is so top notch that. You know it brought in this whole new audience for her I think. I think that's really the the key to its success is that let me let me put it this way. If this album sounded like lover Partout I don't think it does as well as it did. If the almost like more of a traditional straight ahead like Yossi pop album. Yeah I think that I think that the change up was really smart and well-timed and brought in new listeners. What she did do you think that only really worked because this was a very situational sort of thing because it was specific to a new sonic direction it was a surprise. It was a left turn for her and also in the middle of like a lockdown. So it's a lot harder to do a traditional roll out so like all these things. kind of added up to like the perfect storm basically exactly. Yeah. I that's a perfect way to put it because I, think that if album this album, also this exact same album if you had that traditional like three month lead up to it I don't think it has a huge as huge of a first week as it does. I think that everything kind of coalesce into this perfect storm of interest from General Taylor Swift fans but also just listeners who were curious about it and curious to hear what she had in store this time. Keith I'm curious about this. She has to album of the year grammy's right now one for fearless one, four, thousand, nine, hundred, nine, of course, her last two albums do not get nominated for album of the year reputation lover what do you think folklore I? Mean it seems like I'd be really surprised if this doesn't at least get nominated, right I think the timing is right. Considering that the end of August is the end of the eligibilities. Areas of the timing is really right for it to be front of mind. And the fact that she is kind of taking a chance doing something that is unexpected and almost in a way. hearkens back to her specific singer. Country Roots in a certain capacity I. think that will resonate and I think maybe there will be some folks from the world of maybe alternative you know in rock and that kind of phony..

How does music influence your workout?

"For many as we've known that music has impacted us in numerous different ways. It captures attention like in films when a jump scares approaching it can trigger a sense of or range of emotions building a sense of anticipation it can ultra regulate our mood. It can increase our work. Output it can even induce states higher functioning and much more. It's also been found to have an ogre. Genyk fact Menia can help increase exercise performance. It can delay fatigue and accounting crease. Power and strength. Caffeine is another ugly genyk substance that's been proven to be quite effective by many sports scientists. It's really difficult to understand what it is about music. That may be helping us to work out harder if it does this atoll. Ginette Bicknell in her article for psychology. Day writes that. It's hard to know whether it's the internal characteristics the music such as the tempo the rhythm and so on or fits the external features such as the personal or cultural associations that the musical scene carries the regardless of what it is about the music the overall impression given by this research is highly positive when music is used before athletic activity it has been shown to increase arousal to facilitate relevant imagery and to improve the performance of simple tasks. It can increase physical capacity improve. Your energy efficiency and influential moved on one such study which backs this up was called the effect of Music Tempo on exercise performance on heart rate among young adults. Now this study psalm. Twenty five young men and twenty five women. He will untrained in the sense they want experienced athletes on the study found that music helped to increase that total exercise duration. So why might music Viagra Genetic Whoa? Several studies found the music benefits. Performance by reducing perceived exertion for example study published in the social and applied psychology of music. Found that music distracts from pain and Jud during exercise for competing sensory stimuli. Because it's easy to forget about this pain. All the fatigue you're experiencing what assume you're listening to is distracting you however there's also a study. The effects of music on work rate distribution during cycling time trial on this study found the opposite to be true. They had sixteen physically. Active participants. Perform two ten K. Time trials on cycle Goma's to different conditions. One group played without without music on the other with trump's music playing out now the group listening to music don't average improvement of twenty two seconds to percents explained mostly by an increase in the first three K. Author Ten K. But interestingly enough ratings of perceived exertion will consistently higher for all the time trial where music was playing with the research saying cycle speeds and proceed exertion would both higher during the music trial suggesting that participants were working hard during the music trial but they were fully aware. They were doing so. What's more other studies found that the power of music has definite limits while music can hamper physiological feedback knows at moderate levels of intensity. It is markedly less effective. When you're performing exercise at higher intensity it does not reduce perceptions of exertion exercise pushing themselves beyond that anaerobic threshold point at which Latin cast begins. Trip accumulates in the bloodstream. One possible explanation is that a high levels of intensity the body's physical feedback dominate the nervous system so destruction by any means actually more difficult to achieve also music seems a great to lesser trained exercises. Those who have less experience when it comes to health and fitness and this could be because trained oboe competitive athletes tend to work higher levels of intensity so there is some conflicting evidence there on what is going on that makes music of genetic on will definitely be interesting to see this space developed and I think personal preference also comes into play in this so when I think about it I can actually understand what the study is saying. That more experienced athletes actually have few benefits from music when compared to untrained athletes. I have a good friend. That is a very solid medium to long distance runner who is consistently puts out sub one fifteen times for half marathon which is very good considering the the amount of training does he is stopped listening to music altogether to allow him to focus on his breathing and he's found. This has helped him increases times. Just a more comfortable pace for example walls quite often. We hear less experienced athlete. Say that they want to try and run to the beat of a fast paced track. For example. Are they believe it helps them? Pick up the pace and the two thousand and six thirty. On that's in less experienced runners. Whilst listening to fast paced music participants increase the pace and distance traveled when on a treadmill and there is some truth in this as well. But obviously as you progress that you might find it is just listen to the signs or your body is actually giving you regardless. I think all continue to keep listening to music from my workouts based on my personal preference now. I think it makes me before. Recent studies have also share that participants. Who listened to music that they deemed pleasing hot higher levels of Serotonin which is obviously the feel good hormone so when you're approaching your workout listening to a song you go into a feeling better. "Ran into in the Hallway Lau here and he's not performing here for this morning and that's cool but at least you brought some new music we've never heard right and then they kind of looked at each other I sure hope they surprises with some new music maybe we can convince them to do a free style of some side you know here's the thing they have all these rules say rules Schmooze a song bring it let's play it well it has to be released a certain way we have to have a marketing plan we don't just play it love exactly I'm with you I love his new singles called F I'm lonely having to play a censored version of a song because that's not with the artist intended to be now how bad would we get in trouble if we didn't play the censored version but we we get in trouble depends on how many times he says it in there but only nate would get in trouble right oh I think there should be like if you say at once it's fine pass yeah like you get a pass for the first time Nice try anyway so lau on the way I see a car coming in later issued performing today hope she brings us new music you don't perform I you have to bring his news president of some sort I will tell you food a bottle of wine here so Lau has passed he didn't bring doughnuts anyway we have what else we have going on Oh what is your question this happened to a friend of mine it didn't make sense and I kinda yelled at him a little bit he took the this this girl he's been saying out on a date to tell her he doesn't want date her anymore I've done that what do you I mean if it's a date you shouldn't tell them on the date you don't want to date anyone shooting you find more discreet felt like it made the below less of a blow no like I even brought flowers I went to ask them to go to dinner on a date like we normally would go and then I explained like hey things aren't you know great right because you gave him some guilt flowers and then we parted ways is weird you wouldn't have the sexy somebody to go. Hey I wanted to have sex with tell you that I don't want to have sex with you ever again yeah Gandhi I WanNa make love to you love to Uganda did you farewell no if they make love broken finger what's your thought I think that you have to do it somewhere public because you don't want them to come to your house and then you can't escape I mean you could go to there place but that makes me nervous too so what do you do I know you said you've seen it on a park bench repeatedly edgy that heart benches are perfect break-up come somewhere though in a park bench you can actually stand up with them and walk a little bit like in the path of the park I mean you can in your outside but if I if you take me to a restaurant to me that's a date and a date to me is let's see before we have momentum and in a restaurant too if that person wants to cry tell you to f. off or do whatever they can't really do it in the restaurants of that but it's not very nice you have to let them get out whatever they need to get out and if you're going to say F. You I don't want that we'll take I'm just saying it's not working I know I've deserved you a few times so I think you should get it out aired out you WANNA say enemy fine we're doing it at a park my favorite line is this just this just isn't working for me it's not you it's maintenance you don't say that because that would that would complain yeah but but anyway so so my friend took her on a date to a nice restaurant to say goodbye and she totally saw saw at the way I see it don't take me to a nice restaurant don't give me flowers because to me like I said that's the sign that we are moving forward those those are four forward momentum actions that black flowers Freddie and then this is my favorite Gandhi what do you think is the best way to break up with someone like the sentence that you say so that you are very clear this isn't happening again it is it's not me right we're not getting back together what do you think you say well it just depends on how the conversations going I feel like if you say there's just no chemistry that that's it See to me that's an insult even though that's very true it could be me that has no chemistry I if they ask me is there is there chemistry problems then I'll say yeah I don't have Ali you know early on Ellie actually dumped a guy while they were in bed yes yeah I'm the one might not surprised at this rally they were doing it said they were they were getting frisky I know there were mouths moving talked about this one actually were like you're making out with them and you broke up with him I was waking him up from a nap by trying to seduce them and then I like looked at him and I was like Oh man this is not what I want so I broke up with them dusing I started seducing him and then I looked in his eyes and I was like wow this is not what I want forever within three years I was like I wanted it and then I looked at him and I was like Oh my God I don't want it here's a Texas as my first serious boyfriend over a year when I was sixteen took me to all pardon bought me flowers and dumped me while his mom waited in the car because he because he couldn't drive the job I would I would think that breaking up with someone while you're making out with the busiest counterproductive curiosity what base for you on at that point like in the bed I was pulling out of the garage and I never a disappointment don't text anyone does your ears right now California's having some trouble not only are about eight hundred thousand people without power because they're trying to avoid wildfires but it's a special time of the year and that is tarantula breeding see inherently they're coming out of the woodwork to get it on and make more tarantulas however officials say don't worry don't freak out their bite is less invasive and horrible than it'd be staying they're just big inferring scary leave him alone let them go whatever they eat each other sesame street is going to address the opioid crisis in the upcoming season fifty up at named carly is GonNa talk about how she's in foster care because her mother had an opioid addiction in creators are saying that this is such a problem now that they wanna shine light on the perspective of children active by the OPIOID crisis and finally the Washington nationals headed to the National League Championship series after beating the dodgers in game five they'll face the cardinals on Friday in Saint Louis and those are your thoughts it also mixed who today's phone taps carry do as Mr Michael Oppenheim scary that's on the way it feels should be Friday I here by declare this is officially Friday morning there is this incredible Businessperson Dylan Miss Quits the CEO of Cafe Altura was looking for a director coffee for his organic coffee company you got to look far and wide for director of coffee decline reasons for that job war we'll tell you what they figured it out and gave all the information to zip recruiter and they they just reminded dillon hey you don't depend on candidates finding you we'll find them for you and they.

Spotlight series, featuring do aletha what I think about the pressures. Are we saying that people need like a social like an opinion? I guess I think the second you have a platform. I think you're expected to have an opinion, and I think more often than not it's probably for the right reasons. And it's good that you should have an opinion because a lot of people. Really relying on you to be the voice. And if you if you are the person gives those people that opportunity, you not just be helping others and you're doing it for the good. A new. You would hope that people are very genuine about it because we wanted to make change and we want to make it fit for the best. And. You want to change the world not just with your music, but you just want to be able to see a brighter future. Artist spotlight series. Featuring Bryce bind Nancy drew, Barry. He messes me every day to make sure that I was cool with it. So I like stop the show in the middle and let them do it. And I know that they're gonna remember that for the rest of their life. Like, how could you not want to be part of that? Yeah. Artist spotlight series, featuring Bazi. Music is just like breathing really is like that for me like I just need to be doing it. And it's like I haven't been able to because I've been really busy with other stuff in the way. I work creatively. Isn't like I'm going in the studio today. It's like me chilling for a bit. And then letting inspiration hit me. And then once I'm inspired. It's like I can't wait to get in the studio. And it's like I've been so busy with other stuff that inspiration hasn't. You know? I'd have been able to focus on it. Artists spotlight series, featuring Bazi. It's such a beautiful thing. Like these songs that were so personal to me, and I spent so much time like dissecting and producing another tedious production. Details for hours, and then you bring them to life in front of an audience, and almost makes you like, you know, I've always made music for people to connect. But, you know, adding in person is a whole different aspects. It's like it's not only to connect with the people there, but to create this moment and this in this in this community almost every night, which is so special, and this has been really cool. Anything egotistical isn't cool with sadness. You know, you don't put that chess up. You don't put that front up because you hear this confident guy you do because you're insecure, and you're hiding your motions behind your call. You're hiding on your money because there's a sad person inside of there. Artists spotlight series, featuring Camila Cabello. I used to get really sad about growing up. And I was just like, man. Here's death cab for Cutie with their one thing for me. It's about being conscious about what I'm consuming and buying and trying to be as sort of ethically minded about where that stuff is sourced from five a big plan in my mind. Everyone always does around the years, but I really want to declutter and just get rid of a lot of stuff. And then as I move forward trying to be a little bit more mindful about the stuff that I am consuming and where it's coming from. So that's for me. It all starts with just one thing. Find tips and more at one thing US dot com. What's your one thing? Spotlight series, featuring tank. I just sang all my life, and I had punk bands. And I had rock and roll bands. And I did talent shows and said Madonna songs, and then I was in an Rb group. And then I sang in clubs and Scott a record deal kept going. I'm always trying to be better.
