"alec guinness" Discussed on Death of a Film Star

"He ran into Alec Guinness, just after he'd purchased the car. Yes, they were at a restaurant in Hollywood and they pat each other outside. And dean excitedly showed Alec, the Cara just bought this thing. So can you tell us what happened there with that? So Alec Guinness was about to show that apparently he reports that he was in a bad mood. He wasn't the successful actor we know now. He was hungry. He was tired. I think they can even get a table at the restaurant. James shows excitedly shows in this car. Which also had to think about alligators at this point. He hasn't got any money while this other young film star is showing him this brand new rare car. There's only 98 and he's showing him this new toy he's for himself. But Alec Guinness says the car to me look sinister and he said to James Dean, don't get in that car. If you get in that car, you'd be found dead this time next week. And that was September 23rd. James dies, September the 30th. Quite specific for Guinness there. Like he hasn't just said be carefully might ever crash. Yeah. He's dated the accident. He has a person of interest after this. Yeah. Do you think that this is a case of Alec Guinness retconning the scenario? Just thinking. Another actor doing slightly better than I am at the moment. So when he dies and as you say, Jake, the injuries that James Dean sustains in the crash are horrific. It's a closed coffin at his funeral. And then back at his house, it is like someone's just press paused on his life because they find not very much is quite an empty apartment, but things they do find a very indicative of the man he was, they find his bongos. They find his paints in his pastels. There's Czech cassette there's a saint Christopher's medal. He's got a scrapbook of quotes and poems. He's got that lock of his mother's hair. And then he's got these three pages torn from a Mark Twain book called the mysterious stranger. And there's a sentence underlie, because there's so much poetry around dean and so many spooky little things. And this is almost the final one for me. The sentence that he underlines from Mark Twain's book is life itself is only a vision a dream. As if he knows Katie, what is to come? I think he had a pretty good sense of himself, his entire life, I mean, by identifying with the little prince. I mean, who knows if that's him willing himself into that role? But I think that he really had a handle on how evanescent life is and he kind of flirted flirted with death. It seems. Yeah, and there's the quote from who himself, which is, if a man can reach the gap between life and death, if he can live after his died, then maybe he was a great man. And I suppose in some ways he has lived on after his death in a way that he wouldn't have appreciated as a 24 year old who had made three films because cater we talk about the legacy of people we talk about an event..

"Let's not or oscar because once you commit to it you're committed and there's no there's no reaction and those make-up's are the ones that don't always get people don't always talk about because it's not the the huge prosthetic but those make-up's do get a lot of attention that you prep josh. Just that scar on his face with that god. That was a whole thing. You know that mini rebecca's hair You know Timmy's hair in the in the desert. Denise was so right. Because i tried. I thought well. Why don't we try our. They flushed through thirsty. They're they're in this desert but of course the desert's not hot always it can be very cold as you now knowing what we're not doing this sweaty and i love you could say the knee. Why would they be sweaty here and that he has the foresight and the understanding to see the. No the absolutely right. They're freezing cold now at awesome. And even your speaking of the hair. And dr coyne's her look it. It seemed like it was a person that lived in the desert. You know her her look and it just really look good. And and cheney the same way. I mean she just the freemen were really well done. The detail in the freemen in their makeup was just awesome. And i mean i'm a big fan of havi bardem Well you know you hear. He's geno. i'd never worked with him. Before i met him briefly. We did one makeup tests. I was very anxious about that makeup. Because that was kind of a real i mean traditionally that is a character makeup fair appearance without prosthetics so hit the shape the coloring his his skin tone then adding digitally adding the the contact will context the color of his eyes. But having to think that through while you're prepping and figuring out his whole. Look those little tattoos. I have on him. The black coal pencil. Denise really responded well to. I think the only thing was is he gonna look like he's really in a traditional character makeup like we see alec guinness. Sir you know You know what i mean. There was here. Time where you'd see men very over made up in those desert films lawrence of arabia and i was but as soon as i saw him in his costume with his props and i'd given him that coloring and all that black i thought he sort of looks like he lives here absolutely. I mean it all the frame it look like they were part of that landscape and they couldn't be anywhere else they would stand out like a source sore thumb on caliban easy. Yeah know i really appreciated the that work and it just it was. It was just so cooling. I've seen the film. I actually saw it at home. But i will say i do have a sixty five inch television so it was a good way to see at believe me and everything was just beautiful and the colors were jumping out at me..

"There's a lot of things that this film did that. Set a lot of presidents for for young adult films that i think is is pretty remarkable. Young adult films like child children's films family films like yeah. Yeah kill you me things that came after like green a big green and stuff like that me. Okay yeah i knew it. Four point three three. There's there's some glaring yes glaring issues but there were also made a long time ago when they were very different after the sixty thousand weird like eah commenting on set an agenda like the nineties were a time. Yeah i remember talking about the sixties which were time or talking about their childhoods from win ray. Where adults in the nineties which is just a completely dying situation. Version of the sanli reboot be called the arcade. Yeah yeah probably like. This is a deeper conversation than we're having this film. But i was talking to my sister about lawrence of arabia and in that film which was made in the sixties there one of the actors which was very common at the time alec guinness plays a middle eastern man round. And it's not for comedy very straight dignified at the time quote unquote dignified role. He was nominated for an oscar. And it feels weird now to watch it but also taking the fact that Lawrence of arabia was also the first film to cast an actual middle eastern actor and rise to fame..

Knock him out, Rick Nut. It's a short bedtime story. My garments That is very short Bedtime story. But you know you did that. Sometimes There was a show that you wanted to watch. Right? It was the fall premieres like Zoe, go to bed. Mind like me on a Sunday night. Hey, Breaking bad is coming on. Then she'll sometimes say stuff like if I go to bed, are you guys gonna watch the crown? Like she's catching us watching a dirty movie, you know, And even if she was we're gonna We're gonna watch the crown. I've been actually working a lot of my Tobias Menzies impression from the crown of the last lesson, Okay, It's actually pretty good. E No, it's I know they were mad, saying they've got to stop before the current day because they don't want to be portrayed or something. Well, that actually the closer I get to current day, The more upset the royal family is gonna get with the with the portrayal on on the screen. But Tobias Menzies plays Prince Philip, the Queen's husband, and is the guy plays and it's kind of like a combination of Alec Guinness from Star Wars and the voice that camera uses in Ferris Bueller to be the guy from the mortuary. That's gonna buy. It's kind of like this is kind of like little. You see that That's just not the way things are done here in England. I mean that that that's exactly how he sounds. If the queen was seduced and murdered by the dog side of Winston Churchill when the wigs and the Tories were there, that's kind of how it is. I'm working on it. It's It's a work in progress, but it's It's it's getting there. I dig that. No, I like that. Just keep practicing. You don't need to see the Queen's identification. She was. She's here with a big hat and purse. That's what so every day to practice now. Oh, not now. All right. Should we should we do our are upset specials. I think you promised the people upset specials. Let's do the upset specials every week. Mike and I do it Here We give you our big upset specials from the week in the NFL.

"Author Michael brown stays with us the book lying wonders strange things Michael before the break we were talking about your gather and I just wanted to finish up that story you'd mentioned John Lennon had given Geller an object after he had claimed Lenin had claimed he had been visited by aliens I think this story what he was up at the code at the time I mean there's another UFO encounter when he was in the village with may Pang but I think this one was at the Dakota. and I just let's just finish up that story and then we'll move on to the James Dean cursed car yeah you know Lennon of course everyone knows he he he did use drugs and I think some alcohol too but he claimed that this at this one night when this occurred he wasn't thing it wasn't high in any other than in in any way and he I guess so Yoko was was fast asleep next them in a deep sleep then he said he saw a light blazing under the door of the the the bedroom and he claimed that in came these creatures it he said they were kinda like got us getting around in like a roaches with these the big guys they said they were kinda look like insects and. at the end of the upshot was that they they gave him some type of a like a metal eagle like object and. years later he he told us only to Yoko on one other person and then later on to re gallery I think in the mid mid seventies. but in around nineteen seventy four I think other city he he he madam and he took the thing out of the part of this park in and gave it together with you know no further explanation and and still to this day I've never read anything about what it means what it could be all about but it's just a another interesting chapter with both John Lennon and into early Geller and you know it Richard who knows I mean just the other day you have a Republican congressman mark Walker of North Carolina demanding more information from the navy saying they're withholding information UFOs and revealing that there there was one of the studies that has been done by the navy was called warp drive dark energy and the manipulation of extra dimensions so. who knows who knows about teleportation and strange metallic egg shaped object right I mean at this point it seems like all bets are off your right ugh the story of James dean's car the the spider that that claim his life you know and the curses associated with that but again you bring some interesting details that I wasn't aware of but let the talk to me about James dean's encounter with Sir Alec Guinness well yeah you know this was this had to do with this Porsche a spider by fifty spider and I and I guess he bought it after the hit film east of the Eden and for a. and he showed it to Alec Guinness outside a restaurant and this is going back to the fifties not mid nineteen fifties and it's strange because Guinness took a look at it and he's any in any said the dean that it looked evil that it had a sinister appearance to it any also told them that he said if you get in that car you're going to be found dead and it wasn't long afterwards that that then I yeah I guess it was in September of nineteen fifty five and it actually seven days afterwards that you know this this Hollywood star megastars such a young age was was motoring near a town in California and and got into a a wreck with a college student I believe it was and you know afterwards his car was taken and various parts were recovered the car itself was purchased the the the body of it and everybody seems to have a series of unfortunate events that's for sure there was this this fellow named there is who bought the spider and and it's immediately slipped off the trailer a broken mechanics later after that there was a a a guy who bought the vehicle and so lost control during a race hit a tree was killed instantly there was this guy who bought apart from it at the drive train and and he was injured severely when his car locked up locked up but I guess in in rolled over and the there were a couple tires even that from dean's could occur that the blue out on and on and who went these events just at the fruit the exhibit is this car the California highway patrol did. say an example of driving safely and the exhibit I guess fail due to a fire that burned a garage housing dean's her so I guess like a house a car can be haunted also and James I guess it gave it an appropriate nickname didn't call it the little **** he did I guess you know there was a long wait get is in deep down in his own spirit like there was down in in the intuition of Guinness Alex let's grab a call east of the Rockies Joe is in Long Island New York tonight Joe welcome to coast to coast yeah hi Michael fascinating discussion two questions first would be on the you mentioned the Africa or and ran then dinosaurs the relic dinosaurs I know Africa was steaming in the fifties and movies like mall gamble with wildlife but I haven't heard of that the dinosaurs still being present any point and my second question would be on you were talking about the dreams you had and possible Anne and showing visitations the sense ski take on the timing of dreams like why is this strain wall why is this angel showing up now as opposed to when the pastor in the future. Joe thank you okay account the last one first if I may I I think that the dream I had was a tremendous warning to me that I was in in in in danger I as I said I had been fooling or I had written a book on psychokinesis I had been around a lot of I had I used to investigate haunted houses as a young reporter and and then be signs and I get into the book on the on the mob on on the mafia so it came it is it really a turning point in my life in it and it turned my life around so it was a critical juncture and remains a something I think about on a on a regular basis and speak about on a regular basis as far as these relict dinosaurs again it's like kind of like loch ness Sir champ the you know that there are three hundred lakes in just North America where people claim to sea creatures are these real creatures or are they ephemeral are they lying wonders the same thing in Africa with these so called dinosaurs one of known is McCallie but damn they the end I guess that stands for that's that's the Congolese for the animal but stops rivers it's supposed to be look kind of like to block lock massive locksmith could come out of the water brontosaurus type animal sore ponder whatever you would call it and the natives swear by it and the young not the biggest the dinosaurs that we see in museums but the size of an elephant or bigger and and and the natives claim that they would kill elephants and hippos which is why in Republic of Congo where this was a specially scene there were no hippos or war elephant right you know is it it would too fascinating things about this number one this is deep voodoo territory is there a link is because I have been talking about lying wonders is there a link it has an awful stench to it I just mentioned the case of Cornelio are close in the Philippines the bore you disappeared and the stench he left behind and the stench that's what's behind it places where you ARE foes are often seem to where there are alien abductions and so forth welcome I submit the Schmidt all is for your your discernment but you know I also found interesting in this regard that that similar accounts have come from. the Amazon it's come from New Guinea is the same type creature in in in one case in South America but often a different type snake like creature and in New Guinea kind of a pterodactyl you know like some right out of right Jurassic Park three famous citing from just after the second World War or during the second World War in New Guinea and and a friend of mine doctor bill Gibbons who's the creation scientists has been to the Cameroon and the Congo where the Congo basin many times looking for Kelly M. Bambi or at least evidence and I guess so far has come up it's a tricky area to you know to get her help and and and operate in but so far he sort of come up with some near misses but nothing definitive in that regard in a minute and that goes right to the rub the second point I wanted to make his words of physical evidence so many of the natives of saying us and they tell compelling stories you know you'll show them some investigator talk to one researcher who went and went there and and he had a book of various animals and he said was it does you know showing them picture of maybe a buffalo no we don't have that here you know different different large mammals or large reptiles and th and they would go through it yes and no no no no and then when they have something that looked like this McCallie modern day yes that's what I saw in that you know not just that not just a few of these these local of folks so who knows but again I've seen it you know where is the is like if like if you oppose the flight so much as like big foot where is the final physical evidence with so many sightings where is it I mean I know the claims about Roswell and and and among them all forty one the UFO in Missouri I just was at that site. the allegedly a crash there before Roswell and this really some compelling anecdotal information but we don't ever get that piece of metal I want to see that middle aged object that curry governor as for that's right right it's like quick silver I mean or mercury you just can't get your hands around it let's say hi to Gordan in Lakeland Florida who has a short story to share a little garden Hey thanks for taking my call Richard on Michael I was I had a dream a couple of not to go through the evening that I was walking past the chiropractor's office on the way to the post office brown moved I just moved from lake and plant city now and I haven't seen my friend the chiropractor this woman in for like twenty or thirty years info on two nights later coming home from church in other words money not a few hours ago I drove by the to the post office like I normally do to get the mail and and so I looked over and someone was in the parking lot at the front door and I thought the stupid customer I'm gonna ask them why are they there is a place open or maybe someone's trying to break in now went up and with the chiropractor herself she was doing light not work again no I didn't happen exactly like in the dream and for the second time I'm not gonna share many other things that happened but you're not are both Christians Macklin indoor you Richard I think I'd like to get your take on testing disappearance both of my matter into your yard matter I did see that her tail out without and I emailed her and encourage me so the fruit of the spirit looks positive and I'm just wondering you know there's many ways test this beard was this a god of the devil was it just blackness good luck he come conscious knowing that our past either individually fear come out of the office. both of my matter in of your yard matter here Yeller not a Christian but he has a good heart and I like your take on this I'll hang on the line to get your question well very thank you. very perceptive remarks and and in and good questions because you do have to discern these things you know back back in in the seventies when I first started on I would just walk in any old haunted house and and we use ouija board to see who was there of somebody claimed was haunted just are we trying to bust the gate everything stupidly you can get a lot of trouble with like taking a bullhorn in Times Square and saying anyone wants to come into my living room is is is is welcome you know dreams can work either way they can be sent from the good side or the dark side we know when the Bible was there were important dreams the figure in two major biblical offense including with good with Joseph and and but in both the old and the in the New Testament and Daniel but in the annual you know and intercourse the whole book revelations kinda like a dream but revision night you know being vision but the mind on the other side I've I've also written on I've written two books on near death experiences the other side and what you take to have an in and those books when doing that research talking to people of hand the near death experience I'm sure you've had many shows on this on coast to coast. you know there when the people one of the consistent things they say is that on the other side there is no time there is no at the past present and future all the same and I think that at night you know the mind wanders into those dimensions the precognition where there is you know you're so you're saying things that we think of in the future but it's just traveling kind of to a different dimension so I don't know the reason why you would see the chiropractor unless this is it's that there was a warning involved but those things occur ID I describe that dream in the first and the first half of the.

Typically i was like i was and how did you feel about the trailer looks good. It looks like there's another looks like a new star. Wars movie is coming right. That's what it looks like. It looks like high quality. I always impressed. It wasn't like i was like oh. You know it's just i was was t._v. Show will it look different from. The movies will be a bit cheaper. It just looked like a movie it did and what was my comment. How can this looks so good and the hobbit looked so shitty right so disney spent a lot of money on this and that's not what makes it good. No there's some good talent and it to <hes> <hes> also jump fibro but the other big announcement is the second live action star wars tv show which will come after them under laurean is a a little thing called kenobi. What'd you think of that little while mr mcgregor is reprising reprising his role as obi-wan-kenobi nice and his whole show about obi wan kanobi account believe it while it's happening like it's just amazing time to be incest towels what's happening. They wanna make a lot of money. Yeah well make as much money as you giving me good styles. They don't give me like solo one out solo uh-huh book if it didn't hate it then hate to watch it again kim you know i'm really i really like that is really enthralling to me to see an o._b. Kanobi series with you know to me. Alec guinness is overrun kanobi but you know in the prequel he's he's not so can't bring alec guinness back to play kanobi anyway so <hes> yeah disney d twenty three. There's a bunch of other stuff including marvel doing a she. The hulk live action in similar veins of the star wars a she hulk t._v. "O._b. One movie between i mean where we left off and where we pick up in the prequels to the original trilogy right. There's some time there. There's some time even mcgregor has said he's wanted to do a movie for quite at some time. If they were ever ask him he's like. I think there's a good story between me and alec guinness that we can tell right so <hes> there's age differences between the prequels also and the the the originals meaning like it's time for him. <hes> there's time he's aged of course twenty years or whatever it is luke's like eighteen nineteen right yeah and this marvel up have luke campbell. Come back and the hammer yup. Lou camel notice have mark skywalker comeback back at marvel treatment and the baby luke perfect <hes> so there's not much details besides that they're in the talks but the fact that the talks <unk> are happening have got the entire buzzing. I'm super stoked about it. It's it's like the one star wars story besides the older public that i really am interested in seeing i was just thinking you know i would love if they were to take this template off of if they do it like eamonn mine with him but then it comes doc at the finale of the season or the series where it's done. Let's let me finish okay finishes darth maul and yeah right so eamonn is martial arts. <hes> he's a human. A person is the guy who actually trained bruce lee <hes> but they have a series of films that off <hes> that they have right now <hes> and donnie yen stars known and pretty much the story of eamonn is pretty much like he's this great martial artists but he he could do nothing during world war two or during a war is deaf talk to during a war and like all his martial arts skills and stuff like the people around them still suffer they starve the military still oppressed them and it wasn't about him like beating up all the guys it was about him trying to strengthen his community. Wow and i was like they do on the empire. "Dot com. I know the avengers is everything everybody is talking about. But quite frankly, this is Star Wars weekend. Yes. May the fourth be with you. I'm sorry. I just had to say that there's a whole lot of things. I'll bet you don't know about Star Wars furry, I one I know the very first one wasn't the very first one was chapter fort work with me here people it came out in nineteen seventy seven its budget was eleven million dollars. It was released in only forty two theaters nationwide. And the movie ended up grossing nearly a billion dollars around the world, Alec Guinness. He played OBI wan kanobi. He described the movie back in the day as. Quote, fairy tale rubbish. But he negotiated a contract. Giving him two percent of the box office receipts for all the movies. He appeared in and he has earned to date. Ninety five million dollars try that when again ninety five million dollars on the other hand Harrison Ford who played Hans solo he got only ten thousand bucks for his role in the first film on the island of new in the South Pacific. You can use Star Wars, collectible coins as legal tender already then and Disney by the way, bought Lucasfilm in two thousand twelve for four billion dollars. So as we enjoy the avengers this weekend. If you haven't already seen the film, keep in mind that if it wasn't for Star Wars way back when I don't think there'd be an adventures today. Something a little more important for us to be talking about here on the program. We saw data released from the federal government. The economy grew in the first quarter of this year. Three point two percent. That was much faster than the economists had an -ticipant it'd and has been reflected by the stock market the US stock market gained more in the first four months of this year than at any time since nineteen ninety nine. Yes, we're all very excited about how. Well, everything is doing. And I'll bet you're feeling pretty good about this the AICPA. Yeah. There's an American Institute of CPA's. They have released their twenty nineteen personal satisfaction index. And you tell me how you feel on. What's what's your personal financial satisfaction? Well, according to the CPA, it's at a new record high. This is the sixth record in seven quarters. Were feeling eleven percent better than we were three months ago. More Americans are paying mortgages on time than they have. In nearly two decades loan delinquencies are down five and a half percent over the last three months all of its looking really good. But is that really how you were feeling? I mean, according to the CPA the Americans personal financial satisfaction is a new record high. But I don't know if you're feeling as good as everybody else around the world Gallup just released a survey of more than one hundred fifty thousand people all around the world. They included a thousand Americans in that survey. And here's the simple question. They posed. I'm going to ask it to you yesterday. Did you experience positive or negative feelings yesterday? Fifty five percent of US adults said they experienced stress a lot of the day yesterday. Fifty five percent of US adults. The global result only thirty five percent Americans are more stressed and are feeling more negative than anyone else on the planet with the exception of Greece. Joking and Greece by the way, he's been at the bottom of the list since twenty twelve negative experiences were assessed by asking about physical pain, worry, sadness stress anger that sound like you positive experiences were measured about whether you felt well rested treated with respect. Did you smile or laugh yesterday? Did you learn something yesterday? Did you do something interesting? Did you feel enjoyment? Americans said yes to the negative experiences and know the positive experiences more than anybody else in the world. I think we're doing something wrong. And that's the question. I wanna post to you. If you are finding that you are more negative than positive in your views. I want you to realize that it doesn't have to be that way. The fact that the economy is growing so well up three percent in the first quarter alone that the stock market is once again at all time highs that unemployment is that historic lows that interest rates remain low that all the fundamental economic factors remain strong. And yet if you aren't enjoying prosperity personally right now. There's something wrong. And we might want to spend some time trying to figure out what exactly that is. So if you feel that something's amiss that you're not prospering sufficiently, given the fact that hey, the country's doing well, so many people are personally satisfied and all time record. According to the CPA to something about it. Give us a call at triple eight plan RIC. Let us take a look at what's going on in your life. Let us examine your personal finances. Let us take an inventory of what's happening. We might be able to help you figure out ways. You can improve your circumstances that don't require Hercules, and changes or massive disruption in your.

"Up to the house of representatives to testify and barley. Did you see that stupid stunt? They pulled a on a box a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and ate it. People think this is funny. I mean, how dumber their advisers? You know, what I want to ask Len? Hi, Jerry, Nadler was all crazy because Barton and show reason barn and shop because because he wanted to have attorneys question him on precedent, right? Only do that. If there's a criminal investigation actually risen going on. So if Natalie really wanted to hear from bar, he could've just said, okay. We don't need the attorneys you come. But he didn't he staged that thing. So that he could have his little outburst and his little eat fried chicken because bar chicken to come on. Don't you think you saying there's politics going on here? Schol for show sock that this has turned into a political theater Joe with. Trump says the investigation's over with and no one is going to testify in front of congress anymore headed for possibly a big showdown in the courts, also in the big three you're on the edge of your seats. Because Domingo's gonna let us know for president sitting here. It's the excitement is just a palpable. Well, I think once he gets in the race. It's he upends everything he jumps right to the lead. Yeah. No question about Biden must be. Yeah. By Bernie, so long. Here comes old Bill Maher build a Blasios L the Blasi. Oh, Joe had the soundbite early this morning where the Blasios said that he never enters a race that he doesn't think he can win. Kidding me? This would that be the most allusion thing in the world. If he thought he could win the presidency really is unbelievable combination of stupidity. And Eric was your guest. You think you'll get in? I think he will. I think he will. Yeah. Yeah. Because he's not doing anything. He's got nothing to do around here. Does he do around here? He doesn't do anything. So he's got something to he goes around. Yeah. Go to Hampshire. Good Isla gets to travel around the country knows the city of New York. Do nothing shouldn't voters and residents the city outraged. This guy's doesn't turned his back on the city a longtime doesn't care. Just amazing Kristie turn his back on New Jersey. When he ran absolately also in the big three, well, the guy who played shoe Baca in the Star Wars series. Peter Mayhew has died. Age seventy four loves shoebox has now joined Princess Leia. Yeah. Right. Ari fisher. She's dead. Yeah. And alleghenies who played OBI wan kanobi? He was the first interesting little showbiz history for you here. So Alec Guinness in lieu of a big salary to play obi-wan-kenobi because he really didn't know what the movie was about took a piece of the he took up the gross. But for he had no idea Star Wars was going to become this massive franchise. He just his agent made a deal saying, well, you can get them for this the thing, but we'll take a piece of the gross to did. And it made in the richest actor in England. But I think he left in the state value like seventy five million eighty five million piece that he got one percent half. Or just got like a point. I look it up. But I wasn't huge. But it doesn't matter what Star Wars became if even if you had half a percentage of the gross. You've died a very rich, man. A disco version. A love the disco version Nico Nico. "Certain things get reviewed by security experts trust and that that comes at a cost, right? Like somebody has to pay for that. What we decide what we recommend it. So Alec Guinness tears blog post has a lot of his emails than description and the and the white paper or a security analysis. He has put out at us amazing recommendations in it and Hawkins that right yet. That's what I'm skipping ahead to a little tiny bit. Because you know, you probably don't need to review every single yuppie. There are a lot of these out there that don't change anything security critical. But there are a lot of things that you can just keyword search on and say that's gonna be a bad one, right? Like things that affect contract of great ability things that affect gas costs certain like if it if you modified the semantics of an existing instruction like those things are dangerous and require a lot more. Study than things that don't do those things. Right. So you can imagine even like get hub bought that just flags certain issues as well. This is like security review required. And then the theory and foundation has to pull in somebody. Whether it's someone like Matijas or someone like I or someone like Jocelyn to provide some kind of statement of like, you know, what we don't think you should do this or here's how you might do better. These these the implications of doing this across the blockchain the hell in that outcome is this I I don't I don't wanna scream doom and gloom this entire time. Because the. Total amount of damage associated with deployed contracts that this would have had what with who. This would have impacted had discount through isn't incredibly large that we know of so far right to test contracts. I think that were on the chain that impacted they weren't even like real life. I don't because there's a lot of is going to be a lot of media associated with the postponement of you know, how terrible theorem is or how we don't have our shit together. And so on and so forth, and I would like to at least give a reality of the potential risks or like the known risk of doing this type of thing. I think more importantly, the what we've learned from entire process is what you just described is figuring out how to go about. Looking at your Ps appropriately for the changes that they're making. So that we can incentivize people to look at them too. Correct way before throwing them on the main net canal talk about that just a little bit. I think we are super lucky at this problem wasn't worse than it is. However, However, I have to caveat this. I'm sure Matisse wants to say this to a result of our analysis was not conclusive on exhaustive valley, tools that chain security has chill bits has. And the ones we pulled in from the evening folks, do not guarantee that we have a precise analysis of the entire bunching the could be people affected right now, we don't know about. And that's another kind of you know, discovery here that we don't really have the tools to affectively monitor everything that goes on the buck gin. So it's probably worth it to not change not pull the rug out from underneath people when they deploy a smart contract and expect that it works a certain way. Doesn't other discussion here around. What is the mutability of certain ways that works like Ken, the hard fork or the heart forks that we plan on the future change the behavior of existing contracts, even in minor ways. Because even if they don't introduce a reentry attack, they might modify business logic or the way the application works, and that might be just as bad depending on the scenario. So all this..

"It's Alec Guinness saying, it's so bad of a thousands of dead. Yeah. Exactly. And and that's part of what that's what they were starting to figure out. So that's what's very interesting is like it does feel like the art of trailers has been something that's been ever-evolving. The and now it feels like they've cracked the code for real. Well, there are trailer awards now. So right after that oh five like, it's it's transitioning out of the crappy like probably realistically how that stuff is edited. It was a little different. It was a little like less. You can you can tie so much of this too. Just like social media YouTube easily sharable videos getting like Rican really gauge reactions on things now in such an easier way. If you watch a trailer, and it gets you. You can get the reaction to the trailer based on the fans like, you know, when you release a trailer. You can go lot thousands of hours of people giving you a real time reaction was it. Good or not. Yes. And you look at the numbers, right? Like, you look at the numbers for the endgame trailer the next day, and it's like twenty five million the next day. It's like thirty eight million. You know, it's like nine twenty four hours. Right. Brutal. Just the the one that it was like on Twitter, Joey that one not like, you know, the website. And it's like, so so you talk about achieving the perfect trailer now, and I think that there's all these things about it. There's like this this formula, right? And one of the biggest pieces of the formula is there doesn't need to really be the voice anymore. And I'm the guys bummed. They got rid of it mean. So so if we were watching no country trail, and we realizing like it's just the stuff is written on the screen. Yeah. Because we can read Brokeback did that I think the same kind of thing like the the trailer is writing it's using using dramatic music. And it's writing the words, but it's not saying the words you don't need to have a narrator like that guy who used to do all those trailers like. I think he might be dead. But b I think he's just out of work now. Yeah. Well, there's there was a documentary that came out about his daughter trying to get in the business. Yeah. Can't remember exactly what it was called? It was very it was all about it might be coming to a theater near you or so it's like something like that. And it's about like, the the basically the mo- voiceover business in this guy's job. And I think the nineties one is my favorite also. Yeah. But it definitely does feel like it was just is just too much. Right. Yeah. Well, it makes the nineties one had this way of making movies that you never saw seen like movies. You should have seen. So I've I had never seen Congo till like four years ago Congo's like my favorite trailer of all time a snake so good like two years ago. Now's the trailer because I talked about the snake for our exerts. Just for so long. Like, you think about these trailers that you remember seeing a ton of times as a kid and they're sweet. But like they make it make you feel like the movie was really exciting. Oh, yeah. Like, I loved the it was almost like trailers then appealed appealed to our demographic. Like it was like trying to make us as kids like fourteen year olds go see that movie..
