"Head in the background. Mike I've gone. I can't even tell you. How long without thinking about the teletubby baby head, and now you've brought this back into my life. I can't design. Of WanNa like beam that who I wanNA. Laugh because it's terrifying. You. Can Laugh just like the baby head? Son Does us every morning just like the baby son. We got back. Magin being in the right Israel. If teletubbies had a writer's room because they know I'm pretty sure they just sorta roll a bunch dice. To create that world. Yeah! I would just love to be. The creative group became the Sun Baby. How do testing with Children U. OF A child? Do you like put things in front of him and you're like? Do you like Sir not? Is it okay and do you? Asher just actually participated in a bit of a study for company. No way we would like. We sat down with him and they like sent us videos to watch on a nap and they sort of watch us. We like did a video call with them. And they watch his reaction of like. Did he lose interest that he engaged with it? Just stare transfixed at it, so that sort of like even at a young age like around one year old. They're still doing this type of testing. Career Change Focus groups for babies. How would that be? Your audience is either like has the most discerning tastes or the least discerning face depending on where they're coming from Right, oh my gosh, how that's so cool! Oh my Gosh! Good good for him. You know you gotta put them to work early. You know like like free all right. Speaking of which let's do to Alec Christie here again like this is an episode about the Christie brothers. Alec it's a bit of a moment here on Copa. Talks about how back in the day his dad, I'm like Saturday. Mornings would never wake up drew to do a certain activity. Because quote he knew drew wimpy worth a damn. What was that activity? Was it washing cars mowing the lawn, fixing car or cleaning the house? I have zero memory of this. I'M GONNA go with mowing the lawn. I'm sorry. Mr Christie would wake up Alex early to have him wash cars wash cars. Confused, as to whether it was like their parents, cars or like just go to the car wash and worked at the car wash. I think it's probably wash the cars at home. Maybe. Because if either real job. Yeah. You know what I mean like. It was interesting though I mean that's an interesting introspection into their relation. Because again, the Alec Andrew will like. They'll barely interacted this season because to get voted out here but like. It's very odd that Alex. Is the younger brother. Andrew obviously thinks very highly, but he also has his own like well. You know I was asked to do these things because our dad thought they drew as as big loaf about so he has his own little. High Horse to be on right. I was responsible enough. That I got to be asked to do it. Maybe that's a good parenting techniques to get one of your kids to do stuff. It'd be like yeah, you can handle it, and then they're like. Yeah, I want to work. It's a good thing for a younger sibling radically on it. You and I both have siblings know if you've ever faced this type of situation like with the Christie brothers, but I can imagine that the good thing to give the younger sibling if you feel like the older sibling gets everything. It's like no no I trust you to do these specific tasks. ooh, like yeah like. You. I can't just trust. Just anybody with this like this has gotta be yours. No I don't remember any of that happening as a child, I did remember I wanted to do homework because I wanted to be like my big sister so. I know right so. I think that was definitely a motivator to get me to do my homework like just like your sister. You get to do your homework then. I'm like okay, so you know I don't know. I also used to play homework. Where would get the biggest books on our house? which was the dictionary and that would just it up and I would sit there. Staring at the Dick Married. What. I don't think like I don't think I could read at the time, but I don't.

"Would say there are three people at least from that tribe that I just don't know off the top of my head. Yeah, okay, all right. I think that's still considered about Koyo I. Think I could tell you everybody. Okay, all right so we come back after the challenge. Exile Island and so it's going to be Jacqueline, and then they have to, and then John Misha's to pick somebody to join Jacqueline on the redemption island and he feels like. His buddy drew is perfect and also drew. Christie's volunteering to go to exile island with Jacqueline Yeah. He's excited. Yes, he's excited to go to exile, island and drew John. Sounds, okay, that sounds good. That's my friend. He's a little concerned about he's like I. Don't know how John's. How is going to be with Jacqueline I feel a little weird about the two of them being London gather and it turns out like there's maybe some reason for that. 'cause like drew on exile island kind of like an here with the groovy chick. To put it in a Greg Brady terms groovy chick, but he's not here looking for women that you know, everybody can be relaxed. That's not what he's here to do, and it's also. Established here that. Drew Christie is as per Alec Christie. A Ladies Man Josh. Yeah he's ladies man. Yes it goes to exile and he puts on earth. Does he have a talk radio show? Call it. Ask questions for the long. It wouldn't surprise me I. Don't I'd be listening. Yeah and so much, so that drew Christie actually can go to a bars and restaurants. When that was the thing and women just end up. I guess approaching him. Giving giving the digits and he, you have the quote of what he says in response to that allegation, it's a curse. It says yeah, it's basically occurs. Basically. It's like the car. Right right so for drew Christie a that. He is a man with a unique set of problems. I do appreciate Jacqueline saying that this was all like the allegations, the allegations like. This the word coming from Alec. I love to be a fly on the beach. Hearing Alec like Wax Poetic about his brother's exploit. Come Up. That must've been insufferable. That must have been pretty tough. Well my brother, he goes to bars and women just want to date him so much, and he doesn't even have to do anything. Like Alec is starting to activate in this episode. Right up until this point like it really is just the drew Christie show. But Alex is on his way towards activation towards becoming like the the drop jarred juror that he will. Become yes, drew. Christie has a plan Josh that he feels like look. We cannot let you guys lose again over a COPA. We need to protect you. We need to protect Alec that. We have snakes on our tribe. We need to vote them out. On paper. Given what Drew Christie is working with that. His brother is still in the game that he feels like a strong kinship with John Mesh. that. He now knows Jacqueline maybe as by being with Jacqueline. Copa keeps losing. He doesn't know the tribe dynamics well enough to know whether or not his brother is going to be in trouble, but it seems like Jacqueline probably would be in danger coming up soon that on paper I think on a season like blood vs water season where I think a lot of conventional rules are out the window because you're playing with people as You're coming into this new players, but with pre-game alliances. I think it makes a lot of sense makes a lot of sense to throw a challenge year. You expect swap pretty soon. Yeah, throw a challenge here and get rid of somebody and control like. Flow of events in the game in a way that will be beneficial towards this new crew that you've created yeah. The execution of it is trash. It's Trash Messenger. Yes, trash, trash trash, but the idea on paper I think is actually a great flood messenger here in Drew Christie, meanwhile back get who not do some other things are going on which are creating more issues among the Nabu crew. Keith nail had gotten a clue to the hidden immunity idol when he was one of the people on the exile there were two to earns you end up like a one has a clue. One has no clue and so. Keith nail had gotten the clue. And he goes looking for said idol, and can't find it, and then he says Jeremy must have it. Yeah, and he tells everybody, and then everyone tells Jeremy that Keith is going round. Saying this in Jeremy is really not thrilled. Yes, Germany's not thrilled. Angry Jeremy is always good TV. He's exasperated and I think this season. You're a lot of it because he's just like surrounded by I. Mean This is where the famous Jeremy Line comes from. These people are so guys are so dumb. Yeah, you know like he is play with. He is an elite survivor player in bloom right now. But he is. Punch of. numskulls right Hunter Ellis. I, the Jeremy Survivor career is like a book ends of that he s like the to exasperated games on the edges, and then he has like the one like. Like. Calm cool collected win in the Middle Right Right yeah! But I think that San Juan del Sur is just so set apart by the fact that like. He's just he. The quality of player is just so off from what he plays against afterwards. But I think that that speaks to something that you see survivor. A lot is like if everyone kinda looks around like no, we I know we're like the rag tag crew, but we've got the numbers than RAG tag. Crew behooves together, even if that's exasperatingly, the people who quote unquote note the game better. And don't know sub alliances are that that's a new one yeah? We'll get there. We go back to COPA. We see a little bit of Alec Christie talking about things like a whole segment with Baylor. He's like like pulling her pigtails. basically sort of like I. Don't know if he is just. Does he have a crush on Baylor? Weird Weird moment between Alec Christie and Baylor 'cause they really they end up having no relationship whatsoever and the game, not really that.

Drew Christie Alec Christie Jacqueline Jacqueline Yeah Jeremy Line Copa Jacqueline I Exile Island Christie John Keith nail John Misha Baylor Greg Brady San Juan del Sur Hunter Ellis Wax Poetic Nabu John Mesh.

"Alert when they went out first all-stars I was like yeah. I don't have to deal with them all. It was also in two thousand fourteen. I believe that that was in the in the spring of the year that she ended up winning survivor. I think that was all in the same year. Yeah I don't think I'm alone in that. I think a lot of people were anti twenty about around then and then all of a sudden she comes in and play survivor and I don't think anyone's hot either. The twins are they going to do well and survivor. And then so when you went out to early I think we're all in Guam early pretty close behind when she pulled out a lot of really excellent and cool and fund moves in the later half the season and when she wanted it was such a satisfying win. Like we haven't seen what feels like a very satisfying win in a while. I think like you said twenty. Four team is really a great time to be a survivor fan. Great Year the Natalie Anderson run in survivor of same line. They'll sir was really so interesting years she starts off with this. She loses her twin sister in the very first episode. But then Sir and Jeremy Are you know Dr. Jeremy Loses Dow early on and they're a tight allies and they end up they're separated at the swap but then and they ended up coming back together at the merge. And there's a whole you know the looks like Jeremy is going to go out but then it's actually Josh that goes out and he's and everything thing is looking good and then Jeremy gets blindsided and Natalie ends up going on. I have to get revenge. I have to let these people think I'm working with them. And it is is a slow and methodical revenge that she takes on John Mesh and Jacqueline and Alec Christie all the Co conspirators along the way to ultimately win and now she's back Matt. I am so excited for this. Natalie is the reason I'm on this podcast. She's he's the one that I wrote down that I was most excited to talk about to see here. I just said about how you know. That was such a feel good win. I I loved that season at the time. I still love it so much to this day. Just watching it as it played out. And you had those two big players. Josh and Jeremy and one of those guys are GonNa win and they both go and you're like Oh wait. They're not GONNA win. So who is going to win is John is it missy and then it starts to become a little bit more clear over time that Natalie is somebody playing a game and going into the season in as somebody who watched the amazing race like you're not expecting that the twenty s are GonNa do well. You're not expecting much from them. You just you know they were fun characters on the amazing race. They brought him over to survivor. Make sense and but then as the game starts to get towards the end and you see all these great moves that she's making how she's thinking like she's playing like a strong player and it just. It's it's impressive and it's fun and just by the time. The finale comes around and you see the entire jury just applauding her and giving her all this respect and every time that she explains a move that you just made or something that happened. They're all smiling because they're like. Damn how did we let that one like. How did we let that get by US? It's just so much fun all around in the somebody who just loves Natalie so much. I'm so excited that she's back I don't I don't even part of me doesn't even want to imagine how she's GonNa do this season because the memories of her are so good and I'm just afraid that they might not you know I don't want anything bad to happen to her. Yeah but it's like sport though Matt like you know Janet Lynch figure skating that everything is sport nothing can be taken away from you. Like we will always have have that. Even if she falls on her face this season and we will always memory.

"They got sure Bob is the person that can bring that. I think I think Sandra with somebody young and extremely GREENLEAF. It could be fun. But I don't know San Fran Rob. I want to get them like color commentator race. I don't know if I want them. Running it yeah. Well let's go robin. Sandra like watching movies. I also feel like that with together like like trying to figure stuff out like a okay. Who Wiz who is that guy? He's the guy that's the killer. What do you think no? I don't think it's him. I feel like about Robin Sandra. DVD commentary track back. Yeah Mystery Science Theater of have them watching different things. Sandra Watch the usual suspects. Sure in any of those memento oh wait that was that. He's writing those notes to himself. I think that's what's happening so that would be good. Okay let me play this question. OWED FA FAA from. Nigeria has a question for us about something that Missy said at the end of the episode. Hello this is from. Nigeria question is which which players in survivor history. I've been killed school yet. On what exactly would that entail. Thanks Okay so oh that was the request from missy. I need you to kill Elaine. I needed to do it slowly and methodically and look I I know people it down on MRI. After the episode last week I think that missy was a very interesting character on the season and just like the way that she just was Would say things like that like so calm that I think she had some really amazing lines of dialogue dialogue over the course of the season and that was one of them just to kill. Kill Elaine slowly and methodically. Yeah I mean that that that line was decently dope decently dealt yes so. Can you think of anybody that was killed slowly and methodically. I think I have somebody I want to hear your example rob okay. I would say that I think John Mich- with somebody that was killed Slowly by Natalie Anderson back in survivor San Juan del Sur. Yeah I I can see that the because I just like that you know this is missy wanted to be avenged like Jeremy and Natalie that those fools I'm going to I'm I'm GonNa get them back but she couldn't just come right out and do it. She had to like move You know the chess pieces around and vote out Alec Christie by accident and and get to the point. She likes shared a bed with them one night or she gave she gave them a reward to sort of lull them into a false sense of security and then finally she got it down down to the final sex and then she got Baylor on board and then took out John Mesh. Yeah it's when you spin it like that. It's really a beautiful and underrated move. Yeah she really but she plotted this from the moment that they voted out Jeremy that she was going to and get her revenge on those guys. Yeah I mean she's like she's like Rick Grimes at the terminus people. She came back Atkin. She took every single one of them out. And so I mean that was pretty slow and methodical but for the most part I feel like that you know this a Type of justice. You know when you get back at somebody I feel like survivor usually pretty swift justice. Yeah I think survivor. You never serve your revenge cold Yeah you WANNA come right come right back and do it as as soon as possible. See if I have any any other things from this episode and Oh this was sort of a crazy moment at the tribal council when Jeff. Jeff was I saw still frame of this. Jeff was talking about you. Know we were pivoting. From what missy it said about The African American citizens winning immunity. And then okay now and now we have. This is how jeff describe that.

"I wouldn't laughing honestly like Ooh doing mostly because she tried to put it in the back of her pants and it didn't work out because there was in the way and it could be. I could feel her panic through the TV. Like oh no No it's kind of funny funny moment. I enjoyed it. I always liked that better than the traditional additional idle fines where it's just like a in a tree in the woods. Whatever like it's way more interesting for viewer when you have to watch them in wonder if they're actually going to do it or not? Kill really. Are you surprised that they haven't done that more. It was such a big when you did it and then Jeremy did it and then I think they've only done it to other times. I think Troy Zan fan wanting game changers injures like that and then Elaine this season yeah I wish they would do it more. What what other crazy idol that they tried since then they did Remember when Thai climate tree or something remember that that was kind of funny and then what what other crazy stuff is done. Oh the she was with the shell look like a show Adam not one that was like okay. They had in millennials versus Gen X.. Wear that was the idol l.. Look like things that were objects around there like there were painted coconuts and stuff stuff like that so they've done also like you you know it's hard because they want to mix it up but they also want people to find them so it's it's true it's tricky but I feel that the doing it in the challenge is as you make a clue easy to find than what it's like to people both got a clue for the challenge. I think that would be exciting. People independently of each other are going for the same thing and they don't they don't realize it and then they get to it at the same time or are they the other person who's doing it. I think that would be a very fun way to go now fun. Yeah let's switch it up here. Let's not let's not like the idols. Yeah Hum so fully patient wanted this. Kelly have any new home depot esque story because as a new homeowner like the toilet one from a couple of years ago. Do you remember. Remember that embarrassing embarrassing. Did you know about but my toilet fiasco with the credit card. I know about it because you told that Tori on the podcast that you that you had you had a phone case and it also made him cast of some of the you're you're a rha highlights way before thirty eight came out and you had you had a phone case that held your credit cards and then you dropped it in the toilet take take the toilet apart to get the credit card out. Yeah that happened. I've I've I've switched phone cases Aspin's thumb don't don't do the just just gonNA phone cases. Get a wallet. It's just better separate Don't do that so yeah I had alleys where it has like a secret compartment that you can put your credit card in and I put a when I was in New York. I put my train ticket for the Long Island Railroad in there and then when the guy the conductor came by I went to go take it out of that thing and I couldn't get it out and it was stuck and then I liked the conductor waiting and I was like finally I was GonNa like snap. Snap the phone case in half because the guy thought I was like messing with him and like like. Oh where's my wallet. It's around here somewhere and I was. I was so Embarrassed it is America thing and when you get flustered it gets harder to accomplish what you're trying to accomplish this trying to get a train ticket out. Here benign feeling really uncomfortable and embarrassed and Saddam's. Just making me more flustered. Yeah that's what did you get it out. Ordinary finally finally finally got. It came very close to break half. I say. Sometimes it's what you have to do. Yeah Yeah but if you're able to replace toilet are you handy No so when I had to replace the toilet I went to Home Depot and I called old my dad And I said hey had a little incident needs to take the toilet off and and look in there. And what do I need and so he walked me through. You know you need the ring and you have to take it off and and we have a situation where We we didn't turn so. How did this workout? Well it was. It was funny. I may not do a good job of explaining it but basically we had to remove the hose in the back of the toilet in the toilet by coked into like where the water sources and will we. Didn't we ton the water off before we unhooked it so we were just this like really really strong free of water like plastering us and I had this Sober Bowl that I tried to put up to block the water and then the water water hit the ball and it was like a fountain just flying all over we were soaking wet like Arlen and I were absolutely soaked and So we learned the hard way. So if you're asking me if I'm handy around the House the answer is no absolutely not but I'm doing my best. Yeah Okay I'm doing the my best over here. It's a lot. It's a Lotta work a lot right. Speaking of farm sixty nine. How is your dad doing? Ah good finale do you remember I told you. Do you remember what you said that what I talk. Talk to your dad taping that was unfortunately. I'm sorry aw I was so excited to see him. Yeah no he's great. We just give each other a hard time which we think is the way you have to do it really. I can't believe I said that I'd probably had one too. Many glasses of wine is what happened. Yeah I mean you can you can tell me good. I have too many one two minibuses what that night. Yeah you seems very fun that like you definitely weren't like a mask ask like you know. Sometimes you see people that are over served at these things. But it's definitely not the case. No I always keep my composure. More yeah let's she's not a good look not too yeah but they had those free bracelets now the braids or you could like get drinks for everybody So that was probably a blessing and the curse and your dad was such a big defender of you on a season and I probably. Nobody loves like their parents being on and so the same social networks that there but did that make you a little bit. We were like my dad really loves me. He's like a yelling at people on twitter order from our behalf mall. What one thing you know about? Dale is that He don't have much of a filter. which is which is which is good for me Probably bad for other folks but I think about it like I think about for example my my I sister my little sister. Her name is Victoria and I feel like if she were ever on a reality show. I would probably be an absolute crazy person if people were talking about her because I just and so protective of her so I appreciate my dad's sometimes a little over the top which we know which is very tough. Hand Mundell Martin always has hot dates. Yes he does bad giving it to you real jess that. How do you feel about there being a new survivor missy? Year in good time really throwing it back there. Shout dark as remembering the rice battle. Wow I really not going to play the Dell Wentworth clubs because that would be okay good okay. We just need to remember. That never was something. Hey what do you. I really have to be harder to last night. A comeback for missy pain maybe Well they won't say another car careening. Do You keep in touch with anybody from the first season. Listen I think you can answer that. I probably probably Germany. Oh I do I do Jeremy and Aboul occasionally just through social media because they're such a fantastic couple. I love them and I don't I don't talk to Natalie but I wiscon- follow what she's doing on instagram. For Super Like I really liked both of them and I you know again I think just going back to what I said before like I ate No didn't really have great relationships have been my first time out and not necessarily my second either so kinda wish. I would have at this point because I see a lot of people are really close. And it's kind of a bummer for me but yeah Jeremy in bell there's been thus they are the best and then last week. We got a voicemail that somebody called in and they thought that Jack was the the spitting image of Alec Christie. Do you see that. No no no. Oh Wow also.

"He has a book about mrs pains garage and she was the lady that rented her garage apartment to lee harvey oswald during the kennedy assassination and so i enjoy those seeing something that you really feel like you know the story from completely different angle right you know i like the a big downton abbey guy so i like the victorian england british history alec christie charles. Finch has a great series of mystery. I you know we're gonna be here. All they're all your favorite. That's really really sucks. I do you know what's interesting is that kind of made my name in early childhood literacy literature richer and education initiatives and so our book shel- because we have kids we have a lot more children's books but it seemed to have read a lot more of those big hanged akao your brand texas as you read a lot of hank decalogue. He's still turn those out for generations so how good night moon good night fantastic well. I know we could go on and on books books. How about a podcast. I really like her perspective. Krista good thank you i like. I listened to speaking of garrison keeler. The writer's almanac has daily podcast. It's short like ten minutes. You know this day in history and the poem is his name one more times garrison keeler. I think that <hes> he did a prairie home companion for years and years on n._p._r. It's been leaking wake woebegone. I liked the dream. I listened to the the dream and it had the series about the the ponzi scheme and multilevel marketing very interesting podcasting either when i'm driving or traveling you know and that's typically when i listened to i have i feel like i have a list. You know. Listen to the n._p._r. Daily if the new story is something that i want to that i'm interested in hearing. I'll listen to that as well. What do you have a quote that you've kind of live by in life so i'm a big laura bush guy. We're best friends. She's always trust me. You asked me on that. Don't don't worry about asking her. She's midlander. She's a librarian by profession big children's literacy person and so it'd be matter i have yes no. She's been very very kind and supportive to me in my much more than i deserve yes. She's a fantastic woman but i quote her often. One that i love is that children learn looking to read learn two things first reading is worth wild but second that they are worthwhile and that of course resonated with me because i felt like i was the kid that she was talking about. You know there's a lot of great churchill quotes. You know i'm a big churchill to the leadership stuff love it. Tell me what are you looking forward to the most right now november fifth get rid of interested to see how this i feel like. We've been talking about this school. Bond for five years in this charts are our listeners because as we haven't mentioned it on our podcast show in thirty seconds or less. Tell us about the bond so the midland i._s._d. Is going out for five hundred sixty nine million dollar school bond to do comprehensive high schools two of them so midland currently is a too high school town. Our growth we feel as a board is the board of trustees feels like that we need to move to a three high school town and so we are going to our dress our severe deficiencies in capacity you know midland high i was built when silent movies were playing and the oldest photos of midland high stables because kids were riding their horses to school. Wow that those part of that building is one hundred years old and then midland lee is your is your newest high school and it was built in the early sixties and so things have changed in that time and they just don't meet we feel like we can offer a better education experience so going to do a new two new high schools a new midland high new mid lumley and then you go back and you refurbish but a lot of money into the existing campus which is on neely and that will be your third cumbrians high school. What what do you want to know. I want voters to know that this is a a magical time to try and be doing a bond for a lot of reasons. One is just the community need. I mean we're at we've kicked the can as far down the road as we can we the community if we value education and all of the things that it touches and everyone will tell you can't recruit doctors because of the public education in system you can't recruit oil and gas workers because the public education we're all invested in it right and now's the time but beyond that just from economics you know everyone wants. Their taxes has raised you and us in here. We don't either families to feed. We have families to feed lunch money to provide milk to buy but because of what the legislature did this year compressing the tax rate for school districts com pounded by midland's oil and gas valuations were in this really dynamic place where three hundred thousand dollar house. Let's say for example in this community is a little above average kind of in the middle. The middle will have an increase of just twenty dollars a month and on a half a billion dollar bond with interest rates at historic lows are just so many things that are in our favor right now to try to do this bond that we really. This is the best time an opportunity now to go after wonderful. Thank you for more than thirty seconds. No you did good. You did great. You did great what piece of advice i storm. Would you give to someone that is maybe going through a similar journey as you. You're making a big transition into a new position after being one for seven. What advice would you give to someone that it is going through something like that to be. All in you know to really what made you successful. Take those skills you know move them on be sure to not come in and pipe bomb the place the first day that's never really a great good to know kind of the people get to know the organization gets another board board kind of what their direction is and then you add value where you feel like you can. It's not about changing everything to meet your needs. It's about what are they doing. Successfully and where can i add value. We can go back and tweak the things where we feel like we can do better but you were hired or you were brought in because you had a certain skill set that someone saw and so where can you be most valuable and implement that and everyone's a little nervous and they're just as nervous as you are when you come into a new team. The team is just as nervous as you are doing into it so i always like to think. Remember what everybody's all. We're all in this together so let's support each other and not just you know come in with well what's going to happen. Let's go in with hey what's going to happen. That's going. There's two ways you can look at it and i. I feel like you have that positive attitude for that so best of luck. I'm not always positive giving off. I guess you know it'll be a bit. We all have those days being a bit abrasive well. We all have those days. Tell me is there anything coming into this podcast that you thought oh. I really hope the listeners get to know about me or my journey or m._d._c. that maybe we haven't covered yet. No i mean like you said you know. A lot of a lot of me is out there. I'm very most of my life struggles. I've used and tried to parlay into you know a success. I'm i'm open about you know my battle with alcoholism open about the struggles of growing up you know poor and broken home and and and and the goal being of someone. Can you use that or learn from that or it. Touches them in some way i'm always surprised at the emails are the comments. I'll get someone will pull me aside. You know there were struggling with something and <music> seeing me talk about it. You know really help them and that's great. I'm glad for that. That's why i do it. It's not fun to talk about your junk right now that i don't think give it as a ministry but i do think of it as you know trying to lead by example and knowing that someone did the same for me and so if i can didn't pay that forward at any and do something for them. I certainly would as far as the m._d._c. You know. It's a it's a great organization really positioned well to do great things for this community. We have a great board really strong leadership. You know we're a little dependent upon the sales tax you know so we do more and are more impactful and boom but you know what we're doing with dr recruitment retention and and trying to figure out the housing and doing roads and infrastructure and we partnered with midland health this year on the child psychiatric. We're trying to expand the p._a. V._a. program we're looking at dr. I mean we're we're vested in. They're trying to address. Those needs that. We know that are important to our community. It's a challenge sometimes comes in midland because it is so affluent and not that that's a negative thing is just kind of the reality and so people are used to kind of jet setting and i say that loosely not everyone one owns a chat but you know there you go you know you and i don't think they're going to austin houston dallas for all those things but let me tell you when you have a heart attack i wrote. You're going to be glad that that hospital is right there absolutely and when you move to town and you know rent is high or the home valuation is much harder than you thought it was and you can't afford private school. I thought you're going to be glad that we committed some time in invested in public education and you're gonna be glad that the roads are and so my hope hope is that we can continue the work that the middle development corporation is done and really continue to see this positive trend and they're so many people in town that have you know all of the priority midland. There's so many great leaders in this community that we check off that have been helpful to me or an advisor to me or inspiring to me and some of the fed on the show you had you know bobby burns on great guy former mayor chamber leader. Now you know really has a vision for this community and there's and there's a lot of individuals like that and so any part i just i'm just glad to be in the room. Sometimes you know sometimes you just want to sit there and listen to what's going on and and hope that they don't kick you out kind of like you're you sit into big kid's table belong here. They enjoy till they figure it out. I'm going to enjoy it hopeful and optimistic that midland continued needed to grow nicotine to provide those opportunities for for industry in business and continue to be a great place to raise a family. We want people to come and and stay right. I think that for a long time there was a calm. I said the same thing i was only going to be in midland three years. Yeah yeah thought okay. I'm going to do my two years time and keep going in. Having you know whether it's the year you know working for county government or oiling gas. I think a lot of people come in with that mentality. Maybe two or three years and then i'm gonna go back to but if few create a place if you create an environment if he curator city <hes> that that has a vision and has a good quality of life and enhance the amenities that people are looking for they'll stay you know and all of those things that party midland and the p._s. and you know the chamber and m._d._c. we are that we've identified those key. Things i think is going to be really great for our community in the next five ten twenty years absolutely well john. I know we're running out at a time. I had a list of like ten so we may have to have a follow up in a year so this so we can get caught up on. How are things going with m._d. Seasons you are in this new transition transition but we wish you the very balanced and i really appreciate you just being so open and honest and sharing your time with us today and i. I love your quote that about mother teresa tracy just helping one person because that's really a. I know someone was helped today so your story big fan thank you. I'll be calling again allen again thank you. John and we'd like to now announce today's community m._v._p. And the m._v._p. Is the midland education. Foundation in pioneer resources is yes. They are hosting one of their biggest fundraisers of the year coming up on september fourteenth. The event is always a blast. I mean when i say always it is always so much fun and this here the bringing in montgomery gentry. That's right who i know. We'll.

"The buddy system was definitely. I was it was rob at his peak. As far as strategy go Kay. We've got one move left one ingenious winner move left to talk about what is it? Where are we going? This is this is a move that I very much enjoy. I think the fans love it. It was one of the most requested moves. When I brought this up, I asked people what you guys think should be on this. This is definitely I would say this is the number one must request at one. This was done by Natalie Anderson on survivor seeing del sur now in part to brought up another move hers, where she played her idol on, on Jacqueline, its final five and that one was actually more on the bubble than this one. Okay. I'm curious to know. I think you'll know what this one is. What do you think this is this win? She voted for Alec Christie, instead of Keith nail. Okay. That's the, the twentieth move of on the most genius. If that five dollar investment. Pro-nazi. Yeah, yeah, I agree. I think I think Natalie is, is a good. He's a good winner. And I think that I think on some level, she's very she's not underrated by the by the super fans but I do think on general by the casualties. You don't hear Natalie being brought up as like pinnacle or at the top, she's comfortably in a position where I really like what she's able to do on her season. She does a masterful job as rewatching it. The post merger to get prepared to talk about it until also understand the move in the Genuity of it between the final five and the final seven. What she does here. She's she is like as Jeremy said, she is a baller. She. She just she and she deserved it, and I'm happy to recruit us at this for this move at the southeast really fun. She is incredibly strong. I think that she might be I, I don't think that this is high purply to say that she might be. The I mean, I guess it depend on what the event was. But in terms of, like strong women that are on survivor. I think she she might be that if you watch her social media, she does frost fit like constantly, and I always, like, eating the right foods. I mean she is in incredible shape. Wasn't she going to be on, like yes, game changers to be on game changers? I'm not exactly sure if I think that she might have had a I'm not sure if it was both things or one or one of the two things that I think that she was she got injured where she had she had a brain injury where I think that there was like a I'm not sure I'm not a doctor..

"This is for Kurt. What alliance would have the nave the Louisiana purchase. Yeah. Okay. Hey, Shambo and Russell? B clay and Brian or c. j. homey. And Stephen. I think Louisiana purchase, I think getting a large amount of something for a relatively low investment. In terms, I'm probably going to go with JT and Stephen. We've got a southern boy GT, so kind of Louisiana. I know he's not from Louisiana, but. You're getting a large settlement in terms of the win with a relatively low investment. He got to be himself the entire time. He didn't really have to like -sarily be somebody that he wasn't or pushes boundaries in terms of who he was. And then you know, Steven was maybe there as consultant and helping him get the purchase by giving him a relatively easy win. Yeah, you way more thought into this than I did when I wrote this. The answer I had was Shambo Russell because Russell's from Louisiana, and he got in him and Shambo work together. That was like my logic. So maybe I'll just give you a thinking about this way more than I did. I. I like this because we also translate like, I wonder if Louisiana purchase can work moved name as well. Could we call like Marty Piombo giving the idol to sash the Louisiana purchase because sash got this parcel of land really like no cost as a result. That's the way better. The other one I was, I was like, how do I know. Proclamation. Yeah. Now we're not gonna go there. Okay. So Mike, this next question is for you. What alliance would have the name? The bitter Betty's. Hey, rich and Rudy, be Karenin Randy or sees violin scout. Oh, man. I mean, I would say that I'm leaning towards be because if you're looking at that good bone jury, they were two of the most angry and quote unquote bitter. I would say that Skauen twyla I think had more ornery personalities, but I don't know if that translates to bitterness. So I'm gonna go with the alliteration and say, the bitter Betty's are b. That is correct. I guess. 'cause that's what I came up with. I think also then if we're talking about moves. Keeping cookies from your alive from people like what moved. We call that the, I don't know some something that that's a move that the bitter Betty's the church or something. Yeah. There we go. Okay. This question is for you, what alliance would have the name? We'd all Dee and Tweedle dum Scot Pollard, and Kyle, Jason Wes and Alec Christie or Tony and Wu can't go with Tony woo because I see Tweedle Dee and Tweedle dum as both being ineffectual in not winning. I see. I Scott and Kyle, Jason. There were moments of insight. We have to go with Alec and with the Christian brothers Drouin out basically. Well, it was west. And they'd fight it was it was them correct? We'll give you. Okay. Well, I had a bunch for them. It was like dumb and dumber. Tweedle Dee. It was than look into up. Okay. Wasn't Alex. Yes, but either would be fine because I would say, drew in Alec would make sense during their brothers, but they didn't actually work together because they were on separate drew win way beforehand, like actually, yes. I, I think the analysis still applies to western Alec like they kind of ineffectual didn't really have anything memorable other than being a meat collector and asking, you know, Jeff about his is bacon role on TV, then he wasn't that it was kind of a okay. Yeah, I was gonna remember when it was two and a half men that was awesome. Thank you. Got a resin. This kit. Okay. Mic especially for you, what alliance would have the name? Mother? Boy, ooh, yes. Denise and Malcolm Ryan Chrissy from here as he goes Hustler's or caution and dawn, oh, this isn't tough because I mean, you'd assume that we're going with like the BUSTER and Lucille dynamic that the mother is the more dominant one and the boy is like the more submissive. So I don't know if Malcolm in Denise would work. So I feel like they're both very active Cochran and dawn. I mean, like I feel it Cochran was Don was just so besides herself allow the time at least from what we were seeing emotionally, that that is completely the opposite from Lucille Blute..

"This is a sort of initial signal of displeasure a sense that centrist politicians in Brussels fee, hungry deviating from what they consider to be the norm of European politics to be the values that underpin the European Union. But actual punitive action will take a lot more institutional involvement a lot more talking and a lot more time. Nick is the Hungarian government worried by any of this. I think it was something of a milestone really in a long battle with what he calls the bureaucrats of Brussels what he calls the liberal fundamentalists of the European parliament, it feels that it has an enormous democratic legitimacy if she like from its own population. But at the end of the day, I think it was a pretty big blow to him notwithstanding. What Kevin said, this will be a very long process. It does show. Hungary, and Mr. Orban's specifically looking a bit more isolated than he did in your before this vote Kevin on that point. How many allies does Mr Obama health around Europe at the moment? And is there a sense at all that the EU is splitting into these blocks? The nationalist populist versus the liberals on issues such as immigration in terms of nation states. I think Hungary's big online all of this police vehicles. Also, find itself on the European Union's. Bureaucratic naughty steps waiting some kind of disciplinary action under what is called article seven of the Lisbon Treaty. But there are plenty of parties around Europe Italy in Sweden in Germany who see Victoria, banners, something of a hero who see him as a muscular Christian Democrat defending what they would consider to be traditional European values based on Christianity, which go back centuries before the foundation of the European Union. And I think. We're coming up to an interesting point of crisis in the EU not so much where it divides uniquely along a fault line into two camps. But really about whether the EU is a grouping of nations purely around one fairly narrow center is idea of politics or whether the European Union can accommodate the circumstances, where Member States like Hungary, Poland elect, strongly, nationalist, governments which still aspire to be in the European Union and still aspire to benefit from membership and one tool that Brussels has I'm gonna end up talking about this a lot in the years to come is it future. Budgets might try to tie payments to countries like Poland, and Hungary, and those payments are very important in those economies. It might try and tie those payments to the concept of adhering to European values. And of course, if you're Gary in or polish, nationalist politician, you say these European values. Are just the the values of liberals in western Europe. Didn't it reflect values here in central or eastern Europe? So that's a really really big issue of identity coming up for the European Union something which is potentially hugely divisive. I think Nick Thorpe and Kevin calmly. You're listening to the well this week the program that tells you what happened in the past seven days and white counts coming up a breakfast in Jeddah, scandalized some on social media. And if you want to listen to us again or previous editions type maybe see the world this week until search engine. Iran opened a new consulate in the Iraqi city of bouncer. This week enraged Iraqis burned down the old one the previous week the offices of Iranian backed militia were targeted to it was the culmination of days of violence, which claimed the lives of at least fifteen people with almost two hundred and fifty injured Patras oilfields produce much ranks income, but it's people have faced government neglect soaring, unemployment and a crumbling infrastructure with Alec Christie shortages, and a lack of clean water and Iran seems to be getting at least some of the blame. Why question for Arab affairs, editor Sebastian Asha? I think it's because the anger is. So extreme now that it's about the whole political infrastructure in Iraq. And obviously any Iraqi is more than aware that Iran is behind so much that so many of the political parties religious groups about by Iran. Explain what started those protests at the beginning. Of the summer. Why have they escalated again in recent days in Bezerra where as you know, the heat in the summer gets up to fifty degrees. There's a pulling infrastructure. The city has not been a good state for very very long time, though, it's in the region where all the oil wealth, essentially comes from it is a benighted place every summer those problems boil over literally because of the heat, so the lack of trinity the lack of drinking water. Those problems have got worse though, this year, the lack of drinking water barrage of reasons some of them internal to Iraq some of them outside. New dams being built have meant that contaminated water has affected thousands upon thousands of people and Iran, which has been supplying electricity to Iraq part of its reaction to the sanctions being reimposed by the US the attempt to kill off the Iran nuclear deal stopped those. Applies. So these precious became essentially unbearable for people living in Bezerra, and this is as the dust and the storm over the battle against ISIS, which is taken up most of the attention of the past two years has died down. So these endemic problems in Iraq combat to the surface. And this one south has been the decades politically in Iraq. Is there a real risk from this rest embassador to the hopes of Haida Alabama forming a new government remaining prime minister because he had formed an alliance with the populace cleric Shia militia leader Muqtada, Al Sadah whose political plot finish first in the election in may for much of the international community outside. Hyderabad is the best of a not particularly great choice. So the sense was that even though he'd be weakened Muktar Asada might be calling the shots. He would still be there in place as some sense of stability and continuity. That is beginning to seem less likely because inevitably Hyderabadi he's the prime minister. He's in situ is all of this is going on. So the main anger is being directed his door. Muktar Asada whose power base is very much down in the south in buzzer has responded to that and increasingly the public pronouncing that he's made have been more and more against our body himself. So there's a lot of speculation at the moment that Machado Saudi may be shifting his focus to make another alliance away from hydraulic body with another Shia leader, head of the Iranian-backed militia, which played a big role in the battle against ISIS. Do these protests Mark a limit to Iran's influence in Iraq? I don't think you're going to see Iran pushed out, it's whether Iran feels it needs to exert more pressure. Sebastian Asha, the Saudi authorities arrested an adoption hotel worker this week. Week who appeared in what officials described as an offensive video. It showed him eating breakfast desk with a female co worker who was wearing the all encompassing kneecap, and may have been a Saudi national the footage sparked outrage on social media, not least because the man was shown taking food from the woman's hand government. Regulation say the workplace must remain segregated by gender. The outcry comes as the crown prince Mohammad bin Salman continues his liberalization drive that ended the ban on women driving and on cinemas. I asked my colleague from the BBC Arabic service Hanan Razek. Why the breakfast radio proved so shocking for some the main reason is because it defies the segregating laws in Caroline. If you're in Saudi Arabia, new you go to restaurant, you will find that. It's divided into two sections one is for men and the other is for families where women are allowed into their religious police are not as powerful as they used to be few years ago. But. Disaggregation traditions are very much still in place, and the fact that it was put up online was what provoked a lot of the outrage. Absolutely that play the role because in a place like Jeddah entered is considered to be the most liberal city of the conservative kingdom, you might find places where there are women and men sitting together, and it's not a big issue. But this video was put online, and it triggered the debate online, and it triggered anger from some Saudis, especially conservative Saudis seem to be forces in Saudi Arabia, very much pulling in different directions on social reform because there was outrage at this makes breakfast from some and the authorities have been arresting women's rights activists. And yet some of the arrests were happening at the same time as women were finally being allowed to drive. So what's going on? I've been Saudi Arabia a lot in the last few years. You see the change happening? Definitely. But at the same time, you see that there are powers in the society that are. Not necessarily happy with that change. There is a sense that the authorities are afraid of a backlash of the conservative powers. That's why the sometimes take steps and go back or take it slower even arresting women activists. Some people actually interpreted it that there is the fear for a backlash from the conservative power. So they wanted to stop any kind of debates around or third their push for more demands for women's rights. The Egyptian hotel worker himself was arrested by the Saudi ministry of labor, and he was accused of committing several violations and taking up a post exclusively reserved for Saudis is there any sense in which the crown prince's economic reforms reserving jobs for Saudis rather than relying on foreign labour on creating disquiet now when the crown prince Mohammad bin Salman also known as NBS announced the Saudi. Vision twenty thirty back in two thousand and fifteen big part of it was a tackling the unemployment and in a country where have the population are under thirty years old. He knows very well that he needs this young force in work because he wants to steer away from relying on oil and attract foreign investments into the country. And he knows that he needs men and women workforce for this. What about NBS himself because his rise to power his anti corruption? Drive offended a lot of important people. And now the reports on political maneuvers against him. We keep hearing those reports we don't know how credible the art. But so far what we see is that end the as is still in place, so many people call him at king in waiting. So we'll just have to see what's going to happen next. Now, Hanan rustic. It's an unprecedented and brutal invasion. Cannot remain unanswered. According to Russia, not a military one. But a new front in the frozen conflict between Moscow and Kiev. This latest source of discord is over who leads Ukraine's orthodox Christians. If Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople in his world, it still comes down to nopal. Not his bull grant independence to Kiev's church. He'll be removing it from Russian control Alexander canton at the BBC Russian service has been taking a closer look at this. Latest fight for the soul of Ukraine. Like so much else in the Russia, Ukraine. This is a battle which brings together politics, history and religion. It's why the feelings around so deep the Anchin. Slavic proto state of Kievan. Rus is where both Russia and Ukraine were born and for centuries Ukrainians and the Russians were members of the same author ducks church under the Moscow patriarchate, but for the last quarter century there have been three competing authored books churches in Ukraine. That of the Moscow Patrick eight. The author sapphires church which was set up around the time of the collapse of the Russian empire in eighteen seventeen. And the key when Patrick which was set up after the fall of the Soviet Union only the Moscow Patrick church was officially recognized. But you partriarch of Constantinople the de facto pope of the orthodox world. I grew up in Ukraine in the nineteen sixties and never heard of any alternative to the Moscow patriarchate, author those churches, but now that's changing. Events of recent years, such as the annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine have brought relations between the Russian Ukraine to a state of deep. Acrimony, many Ukrainians now have a passionate desire to detach themselves as far as possible from any Moscow influence, and that includes religious infants Russian Orthodox church has allied itself with President Putin, and many greens. Have been horrified, by the way, the agrarian orthodox church under the Moscow patriarchate has implicitly and often explicitly supported the Russian sponsored separatist movement in van bus in eastern Ukraine, last April, the two independent Ukrainian authored books churches, as yet unrecognised internationally apply through departure of Constantinople seeking autocephalic that is recognition as legitimate and fully independent churches. The move is fully supported by the Ukrainian parliament, and by president Persian go here discussed the issue this week with visiting US diplomat who seem rather encouraging in Moscow, though, the political and their religious establishments. I vehemently opposed and this may trigger another round of bitter, acrimony santions and even outright clashes between supporters of churches, which looked Moscow and those which look. Kief all sides, see the prospect of a newly independent official Ukrainian church laying claim to parishes which are currently under the Moscow patriarchate. It's a mirror of the political and military struggle between Moscow and Kiev over Ukraine and especially the eastern border regions. But it also poses a threat to the worldwide authored books community Moscow is threatening to cut all ties with Constantinople Russians are by far the largest orthodox community, and even though the Moscow patriarchate may find itself in isolation.
