The Last US Civil War Pension

"Triplet was born in Nineteen thirty in Wilkes County North Carolina Sixty five years after the end of the civil war. How she ended up receiving civil war pension is one of those stories that you wouldn't believe if it wasn't true. But when you do the math, it actually does workout. Her father was most triplet was a veteran of the civil war. He had the distinction of having fought for both the confederacy and the Union. He was a member of the fifty third North Carolina infantry who fought in the battle of Gettysburg. On the way to Gettysburg most fell ill and was hospitalized the illness probably saved his life because most of his unit was either killed or wounded during the battle. After he recovered, he deserted the confederates and joined up with the third north, Carolina mounted infantry which fought for the union. The unit was known as Kirks raiders after commander Colonel, George Washington. Kirk. After the war Mos- returned to North Carolina got married and started a family his wife Mary passed away in one, thousand, nine, hundred, ninety. As with many older civil war veterans, they would often take younger second wives especially during the Great Depression as their pension was considered a source of stable income. In one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, four at the age of seventy eight MOS married his second wife Alita who was twenty nine years old Mohsen Alita had five children. One of them Irene was born in one, thousand, nine, thirty when Mos- was eighty-three. Irene was just eight years old when her father died at the age of ninety two after returning home from a civil war veterans reunion. Irene had a cognitive disability which made her eligible to continue to receive her father civil war pension after his death as a quote, helpless child of a veteran. She received her father's pension of seventy three dollars and thirteen cents every month from her father's death in one thousand, nine, thirty, eight to her death in. Twenty twenty. The amount was never for inflation. The entire time it's estimated she received approximately seventeen thousand dollars over the course of her life. In addition to having received the last civil war pension, she was also the last child of a civil war veteran. The second to last child of a civil war veteran also had an interesting story in two thousand. Eighteen Fred Upton passed away at the age of ninety seven. His father was William H Upton. Who is a civil war veteran and the former governor of the state of Wisconsin who was elected in eighteen ninety four. Because of the occurrence of young women marrying much older men with pensions, the passing of the last civil war widow wasn't that long ago either in two thousand and eight motty Hopkins died at the age of ninety three in thousand, nineteen, thirty, four at the age of nineteen she married eighty six year old William Cantrell who served as a sixteen year old soldier in the confederate army. Blast Union widow was Gertrude Janeway who passed away in two thousand three. The last surviving documented veteran of the civil war was Albert Wilson who died at the age of one, hundred, six in one thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, six he was a fourteen year old drummer boy in the first Minnesota. Heavy. Artillery Regiment. In one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, six there was an episode of the TV Game Show I've got a secret with a ninety five year old man named Samuel Seymour. The panelists had to guess what the guest secret was. Samuel Seymour. Was the last surviving witness to Abraham Lincoln's assassination. He was a five year old boy was taken affords theater and said in the balcony across the theater from the present it. there. Is a clip of the appearance on Youtube and I highly recommend viewing it if you're interested in such things. The. Last surviving person who was born as a slave in the United States was Peter Mills who died in Nineteen seventy-two he was born into slavery in eighteen sixty one and live to be one hundred, ten, one person was both born into bondage and live to see the moon landing. The last surviving veteran of the Revolutionary War was John Gray who died in eighteen sixty, eight at the age of one, hundred four he's one of the only people who live to see both the revolution and the civil war oddly enough he was born on George Washington's estate Mount Vernon and his father died in the revolutionary. War. The, last surviving veteran of Napoleon's army was a Polish man Vincent Markowitz who died at one hundred and eight in nineteen three and the last veteran of the war of eighteen twelve was Hiram Cronk who passed away in one thousand, nine, five at the age of one, hundred and five. In Two thousand eleven at the age of one hundred and ten American Frank. Buck was the last surviving veteran of World War One in the world to pass away. Demographers estimate that the last veteran of World War Two will pass away sometime around the year twenty, forty four. It will probably be someone who fought at a very young age and lives to be at least one, hundred and ten. It's amazing how the lives of some people can span such incredible lengths of time and how we can have lives that overlap them. We think of the civil war is being a long time ago. Yet we're only two or three generations removed from people who lived through all of these events.

"Going to just have to make a move, whether that is a trade or to say, I'm going to hand this team over to Kessler and hope for the best and beyond London, though some of his best performances. Not that I think this will stick is when he is doubted by everyone when he is under the most pressure, Bortles has turned around and kind of said, f you and put up some good numbers. But this just feels like a for now move and almost allowing Blake Bortles to completely with emphasis play himself out of the position before they make a trade for someone or bench him for the year. I would submit that this is not a slump it's who Blake Bortles is right, and they finally are acknowledging that. And I know is this two quarters. But you're not going to get better with Cody Kessler. I don't think he, he just refuses to like push the ball down the field. I think a trade is so much more feasible. I don't think plane Cody Kessler. The rest of the year is an option to me. The only two is just Bortles or a trade and just just eat it with what are you telling your team? If you start Cody Kessler from here to the end, though you have no quarterback that you started and well, just that whole position was poorly managed as beyond comprehend maybe the Jaguars and get some help from Bridget then a couple of minutes. Thank you, but maybe they can get a left tackle while they're at it because they're on their third string. And I think it's interesting that Marrone has repeatedly emphasized, Blake, Bortles mobility and scrambling as one of the reasons they stick with them. They don't want some statue behind center. Then finally, to I r notices from the AFC east Albert Wilson merging wide receiver for the dolphins likely to be headed to season ending. I are with a hip injury and running. Back Bill. All Paul Powell, the jets suffered a neck injury early in Sunday's loss of the Vikings that puts him on I r and at thirty one and in the last year was contract that probably ends his jets career a little bit of sneaky underrated career for Billy Powell and New York. But that's they are the jesmyn killed by injuries this year it's going to be hard to really put together. Any type of winning streak. I think they've been hit an almost every part of their team, but Powell is out and Albert Wilson also out the dolphins need our Wilson and not going to have him. He was having a career yet. This is a big loss for what the dolphins wanna do on offense. Because Albert Wilson sort of been like a just a guy forever, but in Miami, he was being used very well by Adam gays and was on his way to his best year yet might have been their offensive VP if you had to choose one did a lot of different toys for him. I think they he and Laremy Tunsil or the two most important place. They even their tackled placement. Good. But Wilson's out and Kenny stills is out this week for TANF. I don't think we have a preview slated into the show, so I just think this particular game going to Houston preview. Yeah, that's what I was kind of hinted here, like this game going to Houston without Wilson and stills, you're going to have to play devante Parker. These are two teams with a winning record, but you do feel like with Miami. You can't keep taking these losses. This would be four out of five losses if they lost in Houston and the things that you thought were going to be good about Miami, really aren't that good right now, Robert Quinn has not been doing much lately, like the defensive end group that you thought was so deep, their first round, pick Charles harasses, not making much of an impact. Cameron wake spin, pretty quiet, like dolphins gotta show something on Thursday..

"On dalvin cook because look at their schedule coming up in weeks fifteen and sixteen they played Miami and Detroit. Two of the worst run defense in the NFL now the lines as did something to try to shore up that run defense. But the matter is those are. Pretty good matchups for a talented player who in theory should be healthy there. So just if you're sort of link looking ahead, I just think Dow cooked makes an interesting by low if you're feeling good, you know, like I don't need a guy is just about trying to get to the championship. Let's move along here to Albert Wilson who was placed on injured reserve or is going to be placed on injured reserve. The vault wide receiver was awesome. Two weeks ago got banged up. It's groin issue and worth noting that unlike other players who are being placed on injured reserve right now, we say, hey, there's a chance somebody could return later on in the season. The dolphins have already exercised their too short term. I are designations speedup Ralston's done for the year. It is. And you know, drew Rosenhaus is agent had said earlier in the week that he expected him to miss multiple weeks. So I don't think we were surprised that this was going to cost him significant time. I don't know that we necessarily thought he was going on injured reserve. So the one bit of good. News Schefter reporting that it's not a situation where he requires surgery, but obviously lengthy recovery, not be somebody to catch passes on Thursday night. His right. It's not Albert Wilson. Danny amendola and devante Parker come into focus? Yeah, they do. I mean, amendola actually makes the loveless this week in sort of the others receiving votes here. Do you know Danny amendola over the last two weeks, but a top ten fantasy wide receiver has been good. He's getting. He's getting over twenty percent target share here. So you know, look, we'll see what they clearly don't like devante Parker. There's something wrong with that relationship, right? It feels like if doubt about it feels like that is turned sour. So you think about Albert Wilson not gonna play in this game? Kenny stills has already been ruled out for Thursday night as well. So Danny amendola who's out there in a bunch of leagues. I just think if you need somebody in the PR league, any middle should have a nice game against the Texans on Thursday. He was on the waiver wire common. I gotta be honest with people. I think that maybe were at the time of the year where people sort of settled in on their lineups because a lot of the people there weren't that many players period who were added a significant percentage of leagues. Like I'm not saying the one of them's going to be unbelievable, but I won't take Doug Martin was only added in like thirteen percent of leagues Lynch news. Do you think that's because people have seen Doug Martin play football? Well, I mean Jalen Rashard tiny, like he was one of the most added players. There's there's. There's a buzz around Jalen shard. He wasn't added that much like it was. It was very surprising to see how few players were added in significant portions of leagues overnight. So keep your eyes on players like Dan, even agency moves for people. It was. It was sort of a, it was a lukewarm waiver wire class this week, I suppose. And you may feel like, you know, depending on where you are in terms of in terms with the -ception. So Melvin Gordon Ezekiel Elliott or out this week, but you might be able to might be looking at your running backs and be like, I'm fine, right? I would assume I haven't looked at the, but I'm assuming that Kenyan Barnard must've been picked up a lot more fifteen percent leaks. Yep. Just fifteen percent that's as well. Right? So I'm just saying, I trust I did this all morning. I spent my morning trying to figure out because you always look ahead to a lot of players should be added in a bunch of leagues. I'm not sure we'd adamantly but short Matthews was signed. We mentioned this, right as the podcast was closing up yesterday, sign. Signed by the New York Jets..

"Don't. There is no tiger into play. There's Charles clay, right? I mean, so like I said, there's no tied into play on Monday night football. Well, let me ask you this. Would you rather next week start on a Sunday, an Austin, Hooper type guy, and there's no way you have Hooper though. Okay. If I had Hooper as the gronk will hammer. Great. Okay, right. That's that's the question is, would you rather start a Cameron bright on Sunday? I don't think verses wrapping Charlie way and saying, I'm going to go for gronk and if I don't get grunk I'm gonna downgraded Charles clay. What's the difference between clay and break one hundred percent based on the reports this week. I mean, there's no need to make them Monday or Tuesday conclusion here. That's my opinion. People aren't rushing to the waivers to pick up Charles clay. He'll be on well, and and and it's a matter of maybe somebody plays defense against the wrong person in that case. But. I want to hear what happens the rest of this week. Is he practicing in limited fashion as you feel in fine? I think we might know with enough lead time if you need to sign a gun, you know, if we find out by Saturday, the things are looking rosy. I'm rolling them out as taking a chance versus, hey, maybe I grabbed three or four points from from Charles clay, the gambles worth much more than three or four points, right? Kenny stills ruled out for week eight. Albert Wilson expected to miss multiple weeks waiver show today. We'll talk about the wide receivers in Miami. You did move over. I'm going back. Okay. Yeah, Sony, Michelle, Adam Schefter reported. He avoided structural damage in the knee in his week to week. Great news. Yeah, a best case scenario for the way that injury looked, but you know, not likely to be out there this week. Right? I would assume. So we'll talk about Kenyan Barner as a supplemental running back Royce Freeman considered day to day. He reported reportedly suffered a high ankle sprain during the Broncos game. You've got a high. Spring, you're not day to day while that. Berita your week. Two weeks Mabry was told he had a high ankle sprain and he don't care. He did. If you tell you this, if you have a high ankle sprain and you tell yourself at the local sprain. Don't start Roy's Freeman. That's the point. It's okay if you have a high ankle sprain to say, maybe I should rest this. Yeah, it's okay. Yes, this is someone went to member isn't normally at two to four weekend. All right. Doug Marrone announced that Blake Bortles will be. Remaining is the starting quarterback, but on a short leash. I thought that was his entire tenure in Jacksonville. Just get ready. Blake Bortles four hundred eighty eight yards. Six seriously. You never know. Never know. We're gonna. We're gonna get into the main event. The waivers. We're going to do it a little differently today. Always trying to make the waiver show better more helpful for you. So you can make some moves pivot off these injured players and steal a win..

"He wove in out of like defenders writable on his way to six catches one hundred fifty five yards and two touchdowns. So people are wondering like, hey, like does Albert Wilson had this connection with Brock. Wyler that he didn't have with Ryan tannehill that makes him more valuable with Brock under center wasn't say no to that. And here's the reason why. Albert Wilson, there have been four touchdowns this season in the NFL that have traveled less than are have been caught within five yard line of scrimmage, all rights downfield throws right that have resulted in forty plus yard touchdowns. Albert Wilson has three of those four players saying he has good. Yes, yes, yeah. And so I don't think that we ever look at the player who has great. Yeah, I can say, yeah, you know, like Brock us while they're always puts it on the hip of Al Wilson, which gives them the jazz. Yards. Sure. But my point is that I look a lot last week's game of Albert Wilson much more about Wilson himself than it was the quarterback who was throwing him. Those passes Wilson is on the radar. This week is gay flex plan deeper league. It's also worth noting that before last week he was not a player that you're talking about it. I'll somebody that needs to be inside of your fantasy lineup, so we need to sort of figure out what Albert Wilson will become as a player that game. A lot of money to be good. This offseason and his game last week has sparked a debate between him and golden Tate about being the best after the catch Tate is fantastic. After the can aptly they're playing the lie. That's right, right. So the lions who have been weird because if you look at the raw numbers daimyo you're listening, we're talking about the lion, it's twenty because I was just saying to Kyle, I wish that they would talk about golden saying, you don't get to be the best five or six games of doing it. Well, that's Tate says just noted. So the lines of a lot fewer passing yards than any other team in the NFL this year. Now they've had a by, right? But they're also bottom five in terms yards per they've been defending the run so poorly that teams have not thrown the ball nearly as frequently against the lions. That's a long winded way of saying, Brock, osweiler's back. We don't know that necessarily means we're not saying, you mean you have to get Albert Wilson into your line of immediately. We think that Wilson's value is more tied to his own abilities as opposed to who is thrown impasse. Do you start the lions defense? I would consider them as a streamer and it's a great questions define it because people are saying, well, you did that last week. You got burned if th- Rocco slower to play one hundred, reproducible that's reproduce rock going to put up those kind of numbers against the lions. I mean, you'll football power index. These projections simulations football outsiders doesn't have anybody who plays mad into simulations, right? Daniel Daniel, which is he should do. Do my thing is this is that like if you were to do one hundred simulations of a game started by Brock Osweiler my guess is like a two to one ratio. If not like a three to one ratio of games in which Brock Osweiler a pick six and games. Brock Osweiler goes crazy for three hundred sixty eight passing yards and three passing touchdowns last week or two passing touchdowns rushing touchdown last week, whatever it was. My point is that I am forecasting the lions, a reasonable streaming play, not because of what the stats they about their pass defense more because the Brock Osweiler just hasn't been very good this year, and he has been apt to have games that you make you feel really good about starting back to those Denver days. I think that you might be aware of as pointing at me. You have. Also you got to think about like the one thing the lines are not great at right now is like defending the run failed mentioned. So you're saying Kenyan Drake, having woman. No, you're gonna. You know, you're going to get on track when all you gotta do is type Kenyan Drake. You know about to come out here and just Matthew might completely melt down. If Kenyan Drake has a huge week immediately after Morris does cover more pieces of news here..

"The plug that apps they look a little faster than they typically do. This Albert Wilson Kiko Alonzo and is is winding it up. They do look faster. They're gelling I think tannehill part, but I think for pay from the patriots damn point you, you can win ten, eleven twelve game still, but what are you going to do against the chiefs? Not the same thing is you got to ultimately you have to have a PF dad. That one thing you really good at, you know, and last year at least the patriots, you knew that they could go to minute and that he could move the ball anybody no matter what the situation was. Now in dollas gone Dion. Lewis has gone. Gronk just isn't the same guy. I mean, I I still think he's a very good tight end, but man go back and watch gronk from two thousand ten, two thousand eleven two thousand twelve. The guy was recognition. He's not a recognition anywhere. He's dragging method. For sure. Lord I picked up fits Fitzpatrick because I have four QB's. That's a talk about fantasy league this. I swear the store have a point, but I have Jared Goff, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Philip rivers, and Tom Brady, and I ended up starting Tom Brady who had like eight points ahead on like I'd like twenty nine, but you know, even going into this game on like, although we'll be fine, he'll figure it out. He'll spread it around and then you're watching the game in. It's like, man who's who's gonna throw like door set just doesn't get open. And I think one of the things that happen unfortunately for for pats fans, nobody feels bad for us. We wouldn't five Super Bowls, but the Houston game really threw people off the scent. I think I left that he used to gape thinking, oh man, we're this defense is much better than last year. And this door sets gonna be. He's he's like a faster diem branch, and sure it turns out Houston is atrocious and Chamot's is not found a split. At all. This is now. Coached and JJ watt out. I'm not sure he's an impact guy anymore and cloudy today. But in three sounds day. That defense, but that I didn't see the game. He had three sacks. JJ I take it back. They had four overall, but no, he lie was twenty five or twenty nine today and that this key, he connected with everybody with no name receivers. You've never ever ever heard of. You wouldn't pick up in six weeks and fantasy. Yeah, that's there's nothing special about that team anymore. Texans team. I'm gonna tell you. I didn't see that game when we get to parent corner much later as podcasts. Give me your top three in the AFC right now are the Pat still in your top three. Yeah, I'm gonna keep them in my top three d. AFC north hasn't sorted itself out. In fact, we think we cornered the market Cincinnati in Cleveland, winning the north. We'll see the Jaguars. We made a bet this morning that the Jaguars the Rams. And then the pats minus one, oh nine, the patch win. The Jags took a shit against Tennessee. I didn't see that game either. Nine, six, fine. It just like they kept waiting. I dunno Gabbard out. You don't even know who you're rooting for anymore to quarterback for Tennessee. If you're the other team, you know and they marry Oded in mariota runs for as many yards and he running back, they have and throw for touchdown. He has a typical mariota game and the Jackson score. I mean, these teams get up for the patriots and nobody else seems kudos to the titans to in one there on the quarterback. They've gotten like goose egg from that position. They certainly have, I would say a top five or six quarterback crew right now. I mean, it really all starts and ends with Trubisky. We'll get them. We'll talk about the bears man, poor, the bears fans. I, it's like it's bad enough. They traded up for Trubisky with. They probably didn't have to, but then Mahomes goes, ten picks later. And he's like the messiah. Best quarterback I've ever seen in my life. It's like he's like, Aaron Rodgers crossed with Johnny Manziel in college crossed with nine other Brett farve ahead. What the hell is going on smart and he whips around in the pocket, and then the screen will find Kelsey, like on the lateral screen, like just the new plays every week..

"Golick Gill time the w q AM dolphins, radio network, love it, get nervous. Mercury Morris, the Miami Dolphins cannot stop winning Albert Wilson through a fifty two yard touchdown, pass on a trick, play and scored on an even longer touchdown on a catch and run lifting the dolphins to a twenty eight twenty win over the winless. Knicks shook is here. He's back. He's Jack. It's happy about his Browns. There. We go shook the dolphins three though for just the third time in the last twenty years in the pats are on deck. You buying in now yet. Okay. One of the weirder three nose starts you. You have to wonder if they'd be three. No, if they hadn't faced a jets team with Sam darnold making rookie mistakes out here and there and raiders team that cannot finish a game three weeks. Now they well the Rams game. They got blown out in the fourth quarter, but the last two weeks, they have not been able to hold onto the leads and finish games on the road, and it's starting to become a point frustration if you're a raiders fan and especially in this job that comes on the same day, they blown a second half lead in all three losses. And in the news this morning was that there's some friction and inside the building about Gruden skies versus maybe Reggie's guys feel like we had that news story for five months ago, but that's right. None of this is surprising. But yeah, this is a three. It's the worst case. Miriam shook, yeah, but you know, there's a lot of season left, I guess, next week and get the Browns. So hey, maybe the raiders their first win or maybe not on the dolphins side though more of the same when they got things going in the second half, you know, they, they hit some struggles early defensively, letting Jordy Nelson run wild, which I felt like we were in a throwback about four or five years ago and but offensively you know, tannahill to stills is still thing. Three connections today for sixty one yards including a thirty four yard touchdown pass. And the real hero the day was came grant had a couple of touchdown receptions, including a touchdown pass from wide receiver. Albert Wilson, actually, they kind of compete for it because Bert had his own touchdown reception later in the game, is it as well. That was the play that the the now answers are reacting to as if it was like Eddie Murphy raw in late nights and they were all wearing a leather Jones. Comedies such a weird three, no team, they deserve credit. Tanna hill has avoided mistakes. He's mostly made smart decisions. He's had some key runs over the last couple of weeks, but this is another game kind of like the seven hour game. That's just it's odd to run thirty nine plays compared to seventy four for the raiders and have half as many first downs, but but they find a way to win an atom. Gay says something going on in one score games, he's sixteen and five and one score games in his time in Miami. So they find a way to win these close ones. So was going to say, I thought the the raiders are one of the weirdest teams in memory because all off season, you hear Jon Gruden telling you this offense will run through Amari Cooper, I will turn Amari Cooper into what everyone believes he should be and he's completely shut down by xavien Howard today. One of the reasons you get Jordy Nelson from half a decade ago, suddenly making all the place for a team that feels like a shotgun from a cannon from two thousand and six. I don't know what to say about this raiders team. The thing about, I just did the thing about that though, is that went away after the early parts. I mean, they adjusted and. We're able to stop that, but it's a clash of the weird because you have the weird raiders team, and then you have the dolphins who have won three weird games in a row and saving Howard is really good. They have a lot. Absolutely. The dolphins defense has a chance to be really good. Robert Quinn looks like a totally different player making Fitzpatrick is is good. Kiko Alonzo seems to turn it on every three years or so..

"I don't know that they would tell you this inside the building, but local, you know it. I mean, they'd made they made the playoffs two years ago and it had been like ten years before that. So just making the playoffs as a big deal around here. According to the forty times, she came grant is faster than our Wilson's Akeem grand clocks in at four point three. What happened with Albert Wilson at in Kansas City? Well, he was used differently in Kansas City, and one of the reasons why he wanted to come to Miami was he had he turned down offers to be the starting slot receiver in a few places according to him, Chicago buffalo, Baltimore, places like that. Decent teams, not none of those horrible situation. At least we didn't think Buffalo's gonna be horrible at the time, but Adam gates was telling him, you know, it's a waste to use you in the slot because of how fast you are. We need to get you outside. And predominantly, that's. Meant bubble screens and things like that so far, but they use them out of the backfield. These he can be used as a wildcat quarterback. He played quarterback in high school. He's a really good quarterback in high school up in port Saint Lucy. So I mean, he was just drawn to the creatively that Adam gates allows an atom data set himself up now with a bunch of pieces to facilitate his creativity. He's got all these different guys that can play different spots. I think even when devante Parker comes back, which would probably be this week, they're not gonna. Just keep the same three receivers on the field last like they did last year was just Landry Parker stills all the time. And it's hard for somebody like came grant to get in there. Now he's got all these movable parts that he can use in different ways. He was also odd-man-out in Kansas City to they had money to spend. They wanted to bring Sammy Watkins because I think maybe can do a little bit with ball in his hand, but you're not usually odd-man-out if you're that kind of great. I, if you're if you're a great player, you're not odd man out in Kansas City, and I know they're still guys are good, but you're is it that much of an insult to say, the Sammy Watkins is better than Albert Wilson though they wanted to upgrade. And I mean. Albert Wilson can be fine player in just not saying it's not. I wasn't. I wasn't objecting to that part. I'm saying that the dolphins need devante Parker to play like number one receiver. And if Albert fast Albert is going to be a game-breaker usually Kansas City wouldn't get rid of one of those. I understand that they have a lot of good players that they can do things with. I'm just I'm asking because I don't know. I'm not. It's not like I was watching the way our Wilson was used in Kansas City. I'm just saying, wait a minute. They got. They thought that they had plenty of help there and they didn't need any help there. I feel like with tannehill healthy, we know at this offense is going to be it's going to be in that twenty to twenty five point range. The question Mark is the defense. Is this sustainable? What they did the first two games or were they just playing to average offenses? I think the defense is going to get better. I mean, it will be you will face better offenses. I mean, they were fortunate to play Marcus mariota with his arm falling off and Sam darnold a rookie quarterback with the jets. But what they've done if you follow the money is that they've reallocated there. Spending, particularly on the defensive line. They've sunk all they've taken you take out sues contract earliest part of it because you take a huge cap hit. Let him go, but you reallocate all your money into defensive ends. You just think everything into where they're just going to send Robert Quinn and Cam wake and Andre branch Harris William Hayes. All those guys lead speed just meets has Russ Pash, Russ Pash rush, and that should fix everything. And as far as making everything easier for the linebackers making everything easier and coverage, and that's what don't have to hold their coverage Jones and Fitzpatrick. You've made your defense better if you're getting a better pastor and with. Yeah, plus with Robert Quinn and I've done with, I'm done with wondering if this is the wakes gonna fall off..

Americans are split on NFL National Anthem protests

"The NFL and Colin Kaepernick and the American left continue these stupidest possible protests in American politics, and in may of this year, the NFL came out, and they said, no more kneeling, no more kneeling. You can't Neil. It's creating too much distraction the NFL ratings had been tanking. They were down eight percent in two thousand sixteen when this all started. They fell ten percent last year analysts are predicting that they'll fall even more this year. So they say, okay, we've got to stop doing this and make no more kneeling, but then the politically correct crowd the left came out and said, how dare you to we're going to do. And what are you? How are you gonna police this, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So then in July right after they announced the policy in July. They come out and say, well, maybe there can be kneeling said what they said. Well, maybe we won't enforce the policy. We don't know how we're going to enforce the policy. So what you get is more and more confusion over the weekend. We saw this come to fruition. There were two people in the NFL who kneeled for the national anthem now. That's that's not so bad or twenty sixteen thirteen games. I think over the weekend. These two guys Miami Dolphins Kenny stills and Albert Wilson. But what that really means? Even though it's just two guys. This is going to keep going on. It's gonna keep going on and on and on the right, obviously bashing this. This is a very bad thing. They're protesting the American flag symbol of our country and the left is embracing this. So the part of me that is like earnestly taking in this information says this is a horrific thing to do the political cynical side that little that little devil voice up. There says this is terrific news for conservatives because we've somehow gotten the left and the Democrats to protest the American flag itself. I wonder if this whole protest wasn't just started by some slick Republican operative. We have right now elected Democrats applauding the flag. Protests Ianna Presley running for congress in Massachusetts is applauding. This. A beta Aurore can Texas pronounce that wrong with that beta beta Rourke in Texas. This is applauding this. It would the only thing that we could do that might be more effective is to get Democrats to protest apple pie. That's gonna be the next say, you know, for social Justice, you really ought to protest apple pie eight apple pie apple buys, the worst polls show that the Americans hate this

"Two thousand seventeen. The most recent year starts twelve games. You see a pattern here, not once. He started all sixteen games for the dolphins. We started twelve games. Last year comes up with fifty, seven receptions six hundred seventy yards and one touchdown. The guy played more games, four more games, two hundred seventeen than two thousand sixteen. And. His numbers to sixteen, we're way better. How does that happen? I just wanted to show that perfume those games you were absent, not even there. No reason to be there. And. Miami's got a bit of a problem here. Problem being dudes a former first round pick in chances are he's not going to turn into what you expected him to be. Once you drafted. And I'm thinking here, I mean Miami's in a bit of a tough spot because I don't really think they can trade them right now since he broke his finger, not even sure if he's gonna be available for we want. And I mean injuries, you can't really control him, but there's a point where you need to be available. Devante Parker hasn't been available in even when he has been. He hasn't been that great. Miami's receivers right now. Kenny stills, Danny amendola. Albert Wilson. And also became grim. Kenny stills has done well with Miami since he's been there. He's got a long term deal long-term deal. I'm Dolan Albert well-sited. Very good receivers. In, I'd say talent. I mean from what they've done the bar devante Parker is the fourth best receiver on this team. I mean, the guy's really done anything for the dolphins have been draft. And there's a point where Miami's gotta realize that you know what? Maybe this is our guy. We gotta train them what we should just cut him. Because I mean it's basically a wasted space. And even last year. I mean, even when devante Parker was playing well, usually was in garbage time. So I mean, the guy hasn't been a good receiver for Miami at all. Since he's been in the league, I'd say I feel pretty comfortable. Call him a bust already. I mean, coming into the league, you saw what he did at Louisville, go up pinpoint the ball come down with. I mean, basically it was supposed to be Miami's red zone threat. And there's been Fauchet of that tannehill throwing the ball up in the air depar- Demonte Parker rising above any cornerback or safety to get it, but it hasn't been consistent and it hasn't been good enough. I mean, going into the season. He's got a win, at least. Eight games at the very least if Ryan Tanna hill and Adam gays wanna feel comfortable with their jobs with teams because I mean what Tanis come into his seven season. Has he really impressed you over the seven years. Shown flashes. He's one ballgames you got up to the playoffs wants to sixteen nearly got him. There is second third year, but. I mean, what good is almost making the playoffs, don't get it off. In Tanta hill probably did have his best season two thousand sixteen when they made the playoffs. Auditory, see, I think it was what week thirteen. He got, I'd say it was the biggest reason why they got there. I mean without tannahill they're not winning all those games to begin with. Now I said, it's the point where you had a good season with gays. You toria sale. Your ended up retiring the year after that. Basically, people were tired of waiting, and I'm sure Stephen Ross is to the owner. Stephen Ross has been very vocal about the fact that he wants to finally build a winter. And I mean, like I said, there's no more excuses for Ryan tannehill. He's got a much better offense of line probably the best. He's had it since he's been in the league. He's got a great running, a decent running game, Andy's receivers. Now it's up to him. On whether or not he's going to be able to get it done the season. As far as Adam gays coaches, he got about a three year span in that third year, if you're not winning ball games, you're out of there. And you're one for Adam. Gates was great. Went ten, six. They made the playoffs look like a genius. Then, like I said, Tanny Brig retiring his ACL in training camp. Last year was one of the worst seasons I've ever seen from the dolphins in a while..

Some NFL players raise fists, kneel and stay off field during anthem

"Well there's a headline NFL preseason, sees kneeling race. Vistory national anthem there. Goes, my theory yeah And might now I will say this maybe the NFL players association, did because the vast, majority, of, players I mean if, you look at the number of players or, their twelve games. Last night you're talking. About How. Many players seventy five to eighty right now on on, most of. The teams on the sidelines because they don't cut down to the was fifty three for another month so you've got roughly. Seventy five to. Eighty so you're talking. About a thousand roughly a thousand players nine hundred maybe, there, were out on on the field, last night and. You had to that we know Neil and one razor fist so, you had so I don't know maybe the NFL players association did pressure them and said look you've got a contract coming up but you did you did have Kenny stills and Albert. Wilson of, the Miami Dolphins they knelt during the star spangled banner at other game with, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Robert Quinn defensive end for the. Dolphins races fist. Philadelphia Eagles Malcolm Jenkins. Who plays safety and devante boss be a cornerback also, raise, her fists prior to a game, against the Pittsburgh. Steelers according to the Philadelphia Inquirer by the way we knew this, is going to happen we knew there would be publicized and it was immediately And here's my here's my favorite defensive end Michael Bennett remember he's the one he's the one. That was the catalyst for the second year of kneeling and he. Was a catalyst because he was screaming and whining and complaining that he was a victim and that the police profiled him in an unwarranted way in Las. Vegas until the Las Vegas police came out with the. Video to show the Michael Bennett, was simply a liar Says. Defense Michael Bennett walked out of the tunnel is anthem played, and spent the, anthem walking towards the bench the news. Outlet reported teammate Chris. Long reportedly placed his arm around Jenkin shoulder during the song to console. Them and you know basically say look it's okay to lie about police yeah all right I made that one so to be anti-american few you can feel comfortable now the NFL released a statement on the preseason protests so they didn't release a statement and their statement basically is No, this is still policy. We're just not going to enforce and no one's going. To be punished for the NFL has been engaged in constructing Oh my God they just they they just can't find a way out of this the NFL has been. Engaged in constructive discussions, with the NFL players association regarding the anthem and issues of equality and social Justice that are of concern to many Americans while those discussions continue the NFL has. Agreed to delay implementing or enforcing any club work rules that could result in players being disciplined for their conduct during the performance of the anthem the statement went on to say that the league's national anthem policy still remains unchanged and it will be continued to be played before each game and all players and team staff. On. The, field are expected to. Stand for the flag and the anthem and those who choose not to stand must remain in the locker room okay Except for the fact that they don't have to remain in the locker rooms there is no must because nothing is.

"I think I was going to go eight, they, this is the worst receiving corn football in in two thousand eighteen and illegal. You throw the football now you forgetting that. I am projecting Earl, Thomas is a two way player. Dallas Cowboys Bill. You might be their best wide receiver. That's not. That's hardly out of the question. Let's talk about some receivers as well. Let's get to a challenge at the dolphins posts themselves. They. Franchise Jarvis Landry then decided let's trade him away to the Cleveland Browns, and they started to replace him with some more receivers, they, they signed any dole. They signed Albert Wilson who is not a slot receiver if you ask Adam gates. But if you watch the tape, which of course I do because I offer living. That's all you're supposed to do is watch tape. Albert Wilson is a slot receiver, so we will see certainly engaged knows more about football than I do, but there are some remarks about this receiving core. I have Jarvis Landry receiving yards plus one hundred and a half. Danny amendola. And Albert Wilson combined receiving art. So if very slender you can come within one hundred yards combined of Danny amendola and Albert Wilson Jarvis Landry wins. This bet. What do you think Bill? I love Jarvis Landry. He has four hundred catches the most by any receiver through his first four years in NFL history kind of quietly something you build on realize, but four hundred catches the most yards that has ever turned into as eleven hundred and fifty seven yards. Now I'm not a. I'm not part of the group that says, Jarvis Landry can't be thrown to down the field. I think that's more what he was was more Representative, how Miami used him. So I do think that Jarvis Landry could turn one hundred catches into thirteen hundred yards. I don't think that's crazy. I just don't think he's going to get that. I don't think he's gonna get quite as many catches. There's obviously some quarterback on certainty. I think Cleveland wants to run the ball and by the way quietly, Cleveland has a lot of other mouths to feed in that offense. Well, we're, we're, we're, we're not sure about Josh Gordon's current status with the team that getting back we aren't. But if he's there, if Dez Bryant is there, you know you really don't know. Bottom line. I think I think Jarvis Landry can still catch ninety balls somehow this year. I just don't know if it turns into more than eleven hundred yards. Now, this is not a big endorsement of Danny amendola who hasn't played in sixteen games since two thousand fourteen in Albert Wilson may or may not be a slot receiver depending on who you ask or who is coaching it. I just think that they can get to combined about eleven hundred yards. I also think Miami's not a very good football team. They're going to be chasing a lot of football games. I can see tannahill healthy attempting, five hundred and eighty passes..

"You filled him with guys who have done well in those roles slot receiver out of diamond Dolan our Wilson Danamon does a very good slot receiver with New England. Albert Wilson, I think is in have a breakout year. I liked what he was doing with the Kansas City Chiefs on the defensive side of things who's gone. So now you're starting defensive tackles are going to be divine God Shaw and Georgia Phillips. I think that. Jordan Phillips and divan Gotcha. They're serviceable. Defensive tackles, but. They're not as good as soo- so you're going to need them too. I said, do well in their role. You don't have to go and beyond, but don't don't let teams run through the middle. Nick Sabin loves the guy. One of the Nick Sabin says, it's one of his favorite players ever coached. Fitzpatrick is a guy who is going to pretty much spent his entire time in the film on the field. So I like that move there. I was like my guess key too. I think he's gonna do well. Miami hasn't assaulted instance Randy McMichael, but either way. I mean as far as the dolphins go. They got to win. They gotta be above five hundred. I think for Adam gates to keep his job after the season. And I think for right channel to keep his job as a starting quarterback. Also, I mean, this is going to be his six season. Eventually you're gonna have to show. Yeah, I can do this. So we'll see what ends up happening with Miami, but it's going to be real interesting.
