"You listen. As much as I was watching the NFL Draft last night, I actually had multiple feeds up of the draft. I was trying to escape Twitter to your point, brockman because Twitter does give away and you jinxed us yesterday, you jinx me personally. Yes, you did. You jinxed me. Because you brought up one of our guys who we love talking to. By the way, was he tipping pix last night? He was tipping last night. He told me he warned me to do it. I should have muted my guy Albert brewer last time. 5 minutes of time on Twitter last night. I have to mute Albert last night because here I am, Albert brewers tipping pics. I'm like, oh, okay, the pick is in. On Twitter, I'm looking at Albert's feed. I'm like, cool. Team taking such and such. I look, it's still 7 minutes on the clock. I'm like, I gotta wait 7 minutes to this pick is announced. And here's already and gave me the pick. So out there. Pick 7, that early. He was tipping pixels. He was 7. I gotta be honest with you. It's wild to me, you know, our joke around here is like me not being on Twitter, but you know I still check the show Twitter. I had no problem. I think I looked at the only time I looked at Twitter was to check our feed. In case you wanted me to jump in the post videos and you handle them all. Other than that, I just watched the network. I watched what those guys were saying. It was very easy for me to stay. Because I was doing a lot of Instagram work too. Yeah, you did a great job on Instagram. I completely stayed off of Twitter. There was no problem. I had the NFL network on and I was about ten minutes behind. I had the double TV watching themselves. Same with me. So it was like, I had no problem staying off. It was easy. I was just every time I picked that came on that I guess that we had. I throw that video out on the show page so you can watch the our full conversation with bijan Robinson, will Anderson, Broderick Jones, all these guys that got started. In studio, and then tried to tell you, Albert was typically compromised. I'm watching the basketball game too, so it was getting good, especially right at the end of the third quarter, game was really tight. And I was like, okay, this can go either way. And then you had the Atlanta fans really starting to get into it. And I'm like, oh, how is this going to end? And so I would focus on the basketball game and try to get caught up on what our baby have had missed in the draft, but I'm like, you know, 6, 5 or 6 minutes still left on the clock. So I go check Twitter because I just want to get information, I like to follow a couple of research accounts just to get some of the stories. One of the things is the first time selection by the same school in the top three and that goes to Bryce young will Anderson. Pick number one pick number three. Last time we had that 2020, chase young Jeff akuta picked two and picked three right here. Right. And then he before that Sam Bradford Gerald McCoy and the 2010 NFL Draft and if for all my old heads out there like myself, remember Courtney Brown. Number one, overall, with pitch from Penn State state. Levar arrington went number two. So that's like the research I'm like always looking for and yet all of a sudden I see Albert breer tip of the pick and I'm like, I'm trying to scroll past it, but now I've seen it so I couldn't do that, but I did sink in a little NBA last night, broccoli. Because obviously I was invested only because of you because a couple days before, I'm like, I'm not watching NBA. Why am I watching? But I do want to watch Lil Trae Young. I wanted to see Kenneth Celtics wrap this thing up. There was no doubt I thought they would win. But they toyed around for a little bit, but at the end of the day, they pull off the victory one 28 to one 20 and again, we got the Trae Young chance. Why does everybody hate Trae Young so much? Is there a reason why it's just because he's good? I think TJ maybe backed me up in this. Does he have one of those faces? I know those faces you're talking about. Some people are very punchable. I wasn't gonna say it, but he's got one of those faces. I don't agree. I feel it's like this. Anytime guys, and Steph Curry gets this a little bit. Anytime a dude can just pull up from like 30 and make it look like a layup. Right. I don't know, people tend to not like that. I think that's a little unlikeable. The fact that he can do something that you can't do. So it's like a little show off. Maybe a little show off. Like the little jealousy of people because they make these shots look easy. But yeah, when I know exactly. And I can give you a few of those faces. But I don't think Trae Young's one. He's like a babyface kind of really. But it is remarkable that people, especially the New York crowd and had such an issue with. I think for me, too, it's just a big sigh relief. Okay. Like, didn't want to have to take it to the what if scenario of a game 7, even though it would be at home, which, you know, the Celtics didn't even protect it in game 5. So the fact that that was such a close game, they had a 7 point lead. We had a 7 point lead, close game at the half. The defense did a great job shutting down Trey young. He had 25 in the first, only 5 in the second half. Did a great job setting him down. Marcus smart. At one point, I was screaming at the TV. Why is he in the game take him out? And then he hits a big dagger three at the end. Jason Tatum probably had the most quiet 30, 14 and 7 game in NBA playoff history. And so now get a chance to rest up for a day or two, and then it's Philadelphia. Here we go. It's going to be, it's one of the oldest rivalries in playoff history, TJ, these teams have gone at each other. Time and time again, seemingly every year they meet in the playoffs. And buckle up, here we go again, this is going to be a 6 or 7 game series, and depending on if Joel embiid is healthy or not, you know, Philly's Philly's dangerous, man.

What's the poll question that we're going to go with their seed O'Connor? We're going to go with media day Dan. Would you take it seriously or have some fun? Okay. What would you guys do? Yeah, Paul. We've got a couple times and a couple of years ago, mclovin and I walked around and we're asking like the backup players for the Patriots. Between the two of us, who would you rather get a fight with? They seem to enjoy it because they know they could beat up either myself or mclovin easily. So they enjoyed it. I think the backup players like those questions. I think if we went up to Brady, that would not have worked out. Okay, the odds to score a touchdown at any time in the Super Bowl, the best odds, according to DraftKings, Marvin, I'll start with you. Miles Sanders smiles, Sanders, good guess, but he's third on the list, Todd? That gainwell kid and the eagles are like him. No? Travis Kelsey? Yes. Yes. Travis Kelce? Yes, you are right. Both of you got that right. Nailed it. Same time. Travis Kelce and then Jalen hurts. Miles Sanders. Feels like Travis Kelce, though, you'll probably have like a 9 yard touchdown reception. You'll go, how did he get so open? Why do these cornerbacks so confused? I'm going this way. There's certain times you watch somebody's athleticism and you go, okay, I get it. Travis Kelce, I still, he's almost, he moves the way Kawhi Leonard does or Luca. Like they move at their own pace. They're not fast. They're not quick, it just feels like they move in a way that's in unison with mahomes. Yes. It's like they just use space better or something. Use their body. Yeah. I got some pretty pictures here. The camelback mountain if you're watching on a peacock. Beautiful. And let's add to the scenery. Let's bring in Albert Greer. The senior NFL reporter lead content strategist for the Monday morning quarterback. He's just known as the Monday morning quarterback in my opinion. Kind enough to join us. I don't know what scene are you adding to everyone? Yeah, if you're one, too. Okay. Yeah, it's interesting you asked about Travis Kelce. I asked Chad henny about that because I had you can pull that microphone a little bit closer to you. I had seen on Twitter. Like you see over and over again, like, hey, you might want to cover 87, right? So after the divisional game, I asked Chad henny, I'm like, so what is it? How come no one can get obviously he'd be the number one priority for any defense. Yeah. And Chad Henry says because he was a high school quarterback. And Chavez Travis Kelce was a high school quarterback and Chad said he sees the field like a quarterback. So he sees the field the same way mahomes does. So he knows how to set up coverage. He knows how to set a defender up. He knows how to use their leverage against them. It's because he played quarterback in high school. He sees the field differently than a lot of other skill players. Yeah, so there you go. He's one of those guys, though, that you're right. I don't know if there's a true definition of why is he so great, but that kind of puts it into perspective of a football player seeing it and plus I always wondered about that if you were a defensive back or a wide receiver and you played quarterback in high school, how does that help you see the field and that certainly pertains to Travis Kelce? All right, a lot to get to. Anything come out of media night that the audience should be aware of. No. Okay. Fair enough. Thanks for joining us. Everybody. Honestly, though, that's not really for us, right? I mean, look, I think one thing that is noticeable is the amount is the infrastructure both teams, right? And you see, okay, there is Shane steichen and Jonathan again in future head coaches on the eagle staff. And then you look at the chief staff and they're established coordinators and Eric the enemy in Steve spagnolo. And then you see further down the line, guys, like Brian Johnson and Kevin patullo, who probably are on a head coach trajectory. So I think one thing you saw, the depth of the rosters, the depth coaching staffs, the depth of the scouting staffs, like it really is two organizations that really have a lot of things working. When Nick Siri took over and had that initial press conference, we goofed on him. Yep. Now all of a sudden he's found his voice. He's found out who he is here. What led him to this point. I think I actually think looking back at it now, but I had a similar experience with Nick. Like the first time I got him on the phone, I didn't know him at all. And this was when he was the colts offensive coordinator. And it was like a ten minute phone call where it was like pulling teeth talking to him. You know what I mean? Like, it felt like I couldn't get anything out of him was awkward. It was weird. And then, you know, I got to actually meet him in person, and it was totally different. And I think one of the things what you see and what we all saw in that first press conference is actually part of his greatest strength. He's comfortable in his own skin. I don't care what other people think about him. And I've said this to a lot of different people, like he might be the most normal guy among the 32 NFL head coaches. And I think then you look at his staff and they're all guys who are in the same age range. And they all have kids who are the same age. And then the atmosphere that creates in the building, where everybody's sort of all in and everybody's sort of on the same page. And I just, I think he's found a way to create an environment that is sounds weird. Remarkably normal. And I think the player is because of that light coming to work every day. So you have, and I've had people that say this to me. The white room is full at 6 a.m.. You know what I mean? It's stuff like that. Where no one ever sees it, but it's, again, kind of about like an organization all pulling in one direction. I think a huge part of that is Nick's own personality and that people rally around him because he's a normal guy. You know what I mean? And I think the worst thing you can be as a head coach is somebody who's trying to be somebody else or somebody who's trying to project, you know, Nick is unapologetically himself and obviously it's worked. You got some coaching vacancies. I didn't know if their vacant because you have coaches in the Super Bowl, they might be considering. Let's start here in Arizona. Why is this job still open? I think a couple of people say to me that maybe the owner likes the fact that people are talking about his team during Super Bowl week. So that was one theory that this has been tried out this way. Because it's part of it is. Is this a positive thing that you don't have a head coach? Well, that people are talking about the cardinals. You know? So like any publicity is good publicity. I mean, I guess the old Jerry Jones thing, right? Like, you know, three minutes on ESPN's three minutes on ESPN. But is this come down to who wants to coach Kyler Murray? I don't think it's so much that. I do think part of it is that they hired a general. They wanted to hire their general manager first. And so they hired Monty Austin for it. This is also the first time they've sort of gone outside of their family to do an entirely new setup, right? So if you look at it, you go back to Mike bidwell got the team from his dad or control like O 7 O 8, so they were hiring hunt. Well, they'd already had a sitting general manager in rod graves, and they hired they fire those two guys. They promote Steve kind, Steve time, hires Bruce Arians. And then when they fire or when Bruce Arians walks away, time hires Wilkes, then Kai hires Kingsbury. They've never really done this before. And so I think that that's a part of it. And yeah, I mean, I think a huge piece of it was sort of figuring out what they want. And so, you know, I think that the fact that this is dragged out a little bit does open up the possibility though and I know a lot of people around the league think that is the potential there that if they're dragging this out so if it doesn't work with they're talking to Mike calf, the Giants offensive coordinator today, they were supposed to talk to Brian Flores tomorrow. Flora is backed out because he took the Vikings D.C. job and then Lua in a room of the Bengals D.C. on Friday or the dragon this out. So if they're not enamored with Kafka today or in a rumo on Friday that now they can talk to the eagles coordinators on Monday. And they missed the window to talk to the eagles coordinators the first time around, which meant they weren't allowed to talk to them during the eagles by week. So they have to wait till Monday if they want to talk to Jonathan ganner Shane steichen. I put JJ watt in an uncomfortable spot yesterday. I did ask him about Kyler Murray. He kept asking me what I thought of Kyler Murray, and I just, I don't know what the sense the feeling is. I said to JJ watt, I said, look, Kyler Murray had it so easy in high school. And he goes to Oklahoma and had it easy there in that offense there. Played baseball. I mean, everything came to a naturally. But playing quarterback in the NFL is not hey, I got the most ability. Patrick Mahomes has unbelievable ability, but he's a leader. Right. And puts in the time. And that's like, what do you hear about Kyler Murray? Look, I think that if he's the guy that you're looking to, like he hasn't been the guy to set the tone for the rest of the organization and that's been problematic for them. And so if you want your quarterback to be sort of the head of the snake, right? Like in the guy who is going to put natural peer pressure on everybody else to work their ass off and to be the first one in the building and to set the tone for the entire organization. He hasn't been that. And it really goes back to who he is. And I actually think it relates to his baseball background. Like the big knock on him coming out of Oklahoma was, well, he's baseball player. So he's sort of an independent contractor. And he wasn't part of spring practice in college as a quarterback, which is different because of baseball. And so it's always been for kyla Murray. It's not that he doesn't work hard. It's that like a lot of his work is directed differently than it is for other quarterbacks. But he's not around as much. And he's not going to be the guy who's pulling everybody in the same direction now. In his defense, he did get the guys together in Texas in the off season, that sort of thing. But when your quarterback isn't showing up for half the off season program, that's a problem. You know what I mean? Because now, well, are there a bunch of other third and fourth and 5th year players who are going to see that as licensed? Yeah, I'm going to stay in Florida and in April and man, I'm going to show up June 1st. And how does that sort of flow into the summer when you're starting training camp? And then he's probably not going to start the season. Right. So how much of his ACL recovery is going to be done? And how all in is he going to be with the new coach? And I think that's part of the equation when you're looking at it, Dan, like if you're, if you are Mike Kafka or you have one shot at being a head coach, right? Because most guys don't get a second shot. And you're going to have one shot at being a head coach. Like, what do you have two or three years? Contract dictates that it's going to be really hard to walk away from Kyler Murray for that period. So that's part of the equation coming here is that it's you almost have to find a way to make it work with Kyler, which is sort of what Sean Payton's facing in Denver with Russell Wilson too. Albert brier, the Monday morning quarterback joining us. Tom Brady said yesterday that he's going to take the year off. Yeah. Do you think he does TV? I'm not convinced. I'm not convinced that he's going to, I mean, I will say that I think if he does do TV, he's going to, I think he'll go all in and try to be really good at it. I'm not convinced that he does it. Just because I do think that I hate to say it's beneath them. But it doesn't sort of feel like, can you guys see him standing in the buffet line with the rest of us at halftime? Waiting in line to take a peek. Anybody got kale, can I get some kale around here, some avocados? It really wasn't, it was never hard for me to wrap my head around the idea of Tony Romo doing that, right? It's not even hard to wrap your head around the idea of Troy doing that. You know what I mean? It's kind of hard to wrap your head around the idea of Tom Brady, standing in that line, waiting for a hot dog. You know what I mean? So I do think, you got to look at the mannings in what they're doing, or you have to look larger than that. Like Elway got into ownership. It feels like Tom is more of the guy who greets you in his suite and he's the owner and part of an ownership. I mean, is it Magic Johnson? Is that his future? You know what I mean? Like I just feel like to satisfy his competitive, like that, because I think that's what I think one of the big reasons one of the things that most people miss about him. I think one of the things that kind of kept him going was the fear of losing that outlet. The competitive outlet because he is such a maniac when it comes to competition. And I don't think it was ever searching for a fairytale ending or getting back at people in New England, improving people. I think for him, it was like a elegant, an addiction almost to competition. And I do think like going and being part of an ownership group and getting into team building might satisfy that to a degree. Would television satisfy that? If he goes to the games. Right. Then you prepare for both teams. You're preparing for both defenses. And that I think would get those competitive juices flowing. It's what Drew Brees missed out on. Right. He was in the studio. And there's no magic in the studio. You got to create magic. The game creates magic, and therefore you go out there, then you feed off that excitement. Right. And therefore, I think that would work with Brady, but I'm just shocked that he's not doing anything for Fox this week. And I thought send a camera crew to Tampa and just say, Tom, I want you to prepare for both of these defenses. And I want you to talk about both of these quarterbacks. So I got him in the film room, breaking things down, doesn't have to be out here, doesn't have to be on the set. But you can kind of bring him into the Fox family. And it'd be a great try run for him to see what it's like. You know what I mean? It's relatively, it's not heavy lifting. You know, forget a couple of takes. You're going to make sure he looks great. You could stop it and say, all right, let's try it again. You're not live TV. Nobody's going to be judging you. We talked about this before. It still feels like if you wanted somebody to be themselves because you always hear. Hey, just be yourself. Troy Aikman said to Tom, his advice. He just be yourself. The one guy who could be himself as an analyst who's not employed as an analyst is who. Jay Cutler. I mean, I think cutler, he doesn't care, right? I honestly thought I felt this way all along. I think cutler, she had the deal to do it, right? Like the other deal with Fox and then Tannehill tears up his knee and Adam Gase, gets him to come to Miami for 10 million bucks. I think Jay Cutler would have been the guy who is a, he's intelligent. And B, he doesn't give a crap what anyone thinks. He doesn't care. He's not looking. He wouldn't be in the booth looking down like, oh, well I got beers with the right guard out there like three weeks ago. So I can't say anything but no, he wouldn't care. You know, so yeah, I think cutler would have been really I just think it'd be hard because Tom spent his entire life not criticizing or saying anything. Right. And now you're going to say come be yourself. Go out there and critique. Yeah. Be honest, I just don't see him wanting to do that. And I just don't know where I mean, that's the thing. I also sort of look at him and how many different ways is he compromised? You know what I mean? With everything because he's been so image conscious for his entire NFL career. And part of it is like, you know, I think he looks at like, okay, look, I'm invested with this person. And he's incredibly loyal. Is he compromised? You know what I mean? Where it's just he can criticize this person, but then I can't criticize that. And that can be really, really tricky, you know? Did you hear Belichick on his podcast? Yeah, I was a love fest. He was gushing. Yeah. Well, have you ever heard Belichick talk about Lawrence Taylor? Yes. You're like, yes. He really loves Taylor. I can remember talking to drew blood so about this. Right. So, you know, drew obviously had a really ugly exit from New England and it was tough, and it was something that it took years for him to reckon with, right? And drew told me he's like, so I think it was when he went back for the patriot Hall of Fame induction. He hadn't seen Belichick since. And so, you know, so he goes back to Foxborough and he still got along great with Robert Kraft. It was crafts first quarterback, everything like that. He knew that would be great and everything. But he was actually like true blood is a former NFL quarterback was nervous about going back and seeing Bill. And drew told me, you know, he walks in and they have a stadium practice the weekend of the season ticket holders, the weekend of the ceremony. And drew walks out on the field and Bill comes walking over a million gives him a hug and like warm is like can be and drew said he was like sat there silent for like two minutes. What the hell is that? But I think that's part of it is like Bill is so good at compartmentalizing. So you're either as professional and I've heard this from so many people. You're either in your professional life or you're in his personal life. And once guys retire, they get moved. From one category to the next. And I'm sure that's what it is. As long as Thomas and the NFL, he was part of bill's professional life. Which is part of bill's personal life. Yeah, I think he likes you uncomfortable when you play for him or you're not quite sure. Lamar Jackson's playing for who next year. I think the ravens, but I'm less sure of it than I was a year ago. If not the ravens. You want to say the dolphins because there's so many natural reasons for it. I believe the dolphins when they say they want to give it another run with tua. I think the problem that the dolphins run into is that 5th year option. They've got to make a decision on the 5th year option. There's the concussion issue. And that's a 25 to $30 million decision. And if you pick up his option, those are fully guaranteed now. You're locking yourself into tua for 2024. If you don't pick it up, now you're in a year to year proposition you're in a year to year situation with your quarterback. So does that make you view it differently? And if the opportunity to trade for a Lamar Jackson comes along, do you look at it and say, well, this might make some more sense for us, you know? So I think the issue is how you bridge the gap. Between so the ravens are willing to give him a top of the market traditional quarterback deal. Lamar wants a deshaun Watson deal. So how do you kind of like, how do you bridge the two? And they've been unable to do it. And I think Lamar, you can understand why the ravens would be hesitant. You can also sort of understand Lamar's point of view, where it's like, I put my body on the line for 5 years for you, and now you're asking me for injury protection three years from now. You know what I mean? If you were Lamar, seriously though, you look what you put me. You have put an unprecedented amount of stress on my body as a quarterback. Never has a quarterback been deployed that way ever, right? Run that much ever, right? And I did that for 5 years for you. And now you're asking me to sign a contract that's going to protect you three years from now. So if I have to pay the price for all of this, you aren't going to have to pay that price with me. I don't think this is about the money for Lamar. I think this is principle. I felt that way because he thinks about these things differently. If it was about money, he would have just taken the deal. That's if this was just a financial decision, he finished the last two years injured. Just take the contract, get your 150 million guarantee to be done with it, you know? I think for Lamar, I really believe this about him like he's always done things differently and I do think this is about principle for him. He's Albert brewer the Monday morning quarterback, thank you for all your contributions. Yeah, absolutely. We love what you're going on in the off season. Yeah, that'd be awesome. "Estimates are based on your posted account balance at the time of the estimate and do not include pending transactions or any other purchases you may make before the end of the billing period. Oh, one, two, three. Wow, that was a quick morning. Hope you enjoyed it. Tried to get to as many phone calls as I could, best and worst of the weekend. But good to have Ross Tucker in here Fritz he's working on the show for tomorrow. In fact, every day, we got to Albert brewer tomorrow, Brady Quinn's going to stop by as well. Always love seeing both of us. Okay, well that's what you do better than anybody. Final results of the poll question. Oh man. Ross is a strong fellow, by the way. Yeah, yeah. You absolutely love the new Pro Bowl format. Hell yeah, or no, I'm old. Oh my gosh, are you kidding me? 68% are just know they're old. That is weak. Okay. Yeah, Pauly. So during the break on peacock, we did a little pass protection with Ross Tucker who played in the NFL. He's at least 60 pounds less than his playing weight. C and I both took a little run at him. The problem when we do this with athletes, if you go against like a Hall of Fame athlete, they're like, ah, I'm not gonna do anything, but Ross still has some fire in the belly of his playing career. And so when he got a chance to put his hands on me, he dug his fingers into my rib cage, and it felt like he was touching like, I don't know, my pancreas or whatever's down there. I heard a lot. Yeah, I felt like that was a little more, there was a little the energy from Ross was a little more, oh, meathead James van der beek. How's your impression now, funny? How's your impression now as he was driving Pauly back? That's what I saw like the internal monologue was a little funny. I wanna put it in a fresh and your ribs. "YouTube dot com slash rich eisen show and joining us right now is my buddy from Sports Illustrated. He is the man who knows everything. I'll just say that. What a great introduction. Our friend Albert breer back here on the show. How are you doing, Albert? I'm good. I think there's an owner in the NFL with cool to call your coverage of the mahomes podium session. Their circumcising the mosquito. Okay. Oh, yeah, that would be Jerry Jones, right? That was what Jerry John said? I didn't know he'd ever been to a press, Jerry. I did. I don't know if Jerry's ever been to a brisk before. We never knew that. Look at you, TJ. Look at you. Fantastic. Let's get right into this whole conversation about mahomes ankle. What do you know? What do we know other than he says he's going to play? And it looks like it. Yeah, I mean, I think he's certainly going to be limited. And there's different degrees of this sort of injury. High ankle sprain is probably the I would say the most poorly, the most poorly named injury. In football, because a lot of people look at it and say, it's a sprained ankle. It's not ligament damage. It's serious and so obviously he's going to give it a go. I think the difference this time around versus last week, rich, is that like last week you're playing off adrenaline a little bit. And the Jaguars didn't have a lot of time to adjust what they were doing to deal with the less mobile Patrick Mahomes on the fly. Whereas now, this Cincinnati Bengals and obviously they're fantastic defensive coordinator Lou and aroma have 7 full days to prepare for the possibility that the Patrick Mahomes isn't going to be moving the same in the pocket. The game plan that and so that to me is just going to be fascinating about it. He's going to play, I'm not sure what this percentage is going to play. But I think it's fair to say he's not going to be a 100%. What about hurts his shoulder? We just not forgotten about it because it's overshadowed by mahomes ankle and the fact that the eagles basically beat the Giants. I would say with one hand, one arm tied behind their back, especially since I saw Jason Kelce with a one armed pancake, throw down. So are we just not paying attention as much attention to this anymore? With hurts? Yeah, you know, I think it's just, it's one of those things that has to be managed. And look, there have been quarterbacks who have children injuries in the plasma. Brady, I think, I want to say it was the year the second time they lost the Giants. So it would have been 11 was playing with his shoulder actually harnessed through the playoffs that he is slightly separated shoulder. Remember talking about it with you on NFL network. So it's not unusual the quarterbacks have shoulder injuries. Or they'd have to manage solar energy. There's not a 100%. And I talked to Nick sirianni about this a couple of weeks ago actually after their week 18 game. And he actually said to me that like the day he got hurt and that was in Chicago, whatever it was, early December, I think. He compared the effort that hurts gave us staying in that game. Called it like a Michael Jordan type of effort. In playing her. And then he went on to say, certainly wasn't close to a 100% today as we 18. What wasn't a 100% over the weekend either. So again, this is like sort of one of those management things where Jalen hurts isn't going to be a 100% these playoffs and I think dealing with what he's dealing with. With the sprain there in his shoulder, it's not going to be something that is going to be fixed with anything but rest. So they're managing it. Obviously, the better they run the ball the better it is for Jalen hurts. But I do think where there was a governor on him and week 18. And the way they manage them, that governor came off a little bit in the wild card round. And I think it'll come off a little bit more in the championship game. Albert brewer here on the rich eyes and show. Give me your favorite Joe burrow's story that you've heard that illustrates perfectly. How spectacular he is and is becoming the NFL. This one's great. This one's great. So I think and I would say this. I think a lot of people misjudge Joe burrow is because he doesn't pop physically the way that Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen do, right? I think it's fair to say that. And the reason I think the right comparison for him is Brady is because Brady suffered from that 15 years ago. I think there were a lot of people who didn't realize how great Brady was. Like going back all four O 5 O 6 because he didn't pop physically the same way. Well, the one thing those two guys have in common is how they had this talent for diagnosing everything and being able to see everything on the field at once, right? So that's what Joe has been able to do and a lot of times things look easy to him out there because he's doing things to make them easy. Like on the touchdown passage of March 8th last week he was moving the defense of his eyes. He was looking to his right and that cleared out space to his left, which is why chase was so open and why chase had so much room to run when he got the ball. Well, I asked his dad about this and I did a big story on it with Joe and with Brian Callahan was that Taylor over the summer. So I called Joe's dad, Jimmy, who still lives there in Ohio. And I asked him when the first time he'd ever seen this from Joe was.

Todd didn't miss me, but thanks everyone. I did miss him. I just chose not to clap in that moment. I don't like to be like coerced to force into applauding. I don't know how Marvin can win that because they'd be like a rookie in the NFL winning most improved player. He was not in the NFL team this year. He was liking. He was in the building, Marvin, doing good work, but he was not out here. George Mike in most improved danet award. Maybe the most to prove Marvin could win that one. Because he was just answering phone calls there for a while. Then we handed that off to Tyler. He's standing by taking your phone calls and then Marvin got elevated and then mclovin decided to set sail and become a journalist. People are saying we should name the least valuable danette, the mclovin memorial. Some people have said that. Not me. Okay. You would not. No. No. You would not do that. All right. Hour two on this program. We'll talk to Albert brewer from the Monday morning quarterback, always enjoy talking to him. Marcellus Wiley, the former all pro defensive animal stop by as well. Argentina rolls Croatia facing the winner of France and Morocco. That match later on today. Alex Ovechkin hat trick and 800 goals, he is zeroing in not only on Gordie Howe, who he'll pass and soon, and then you have the great one at 8 94. You know, you talk about goals and you go, oh my gosh, if he gets past Gretzky, well, bueno is always going to be the great one. I mean, that nickname, how can you be better than the great one? And the impact that Gretzky had, that there's very few players in their sports that have an impact, that would be greater than Wayne Gretzky, what he did with hockey. Because of Wayne, offenses, expansion, cities in us, the southern part of the country that wanted to have hockey. He went to the kings. It was a big deal of must see. You wanted to go see the great one. You wanted to see what it was all about. And then if you ever stood next to Wayne, you'd go, how? Like, how when I stood next to Joe Montana the first time ago, you got to be kidding me. I've never stood next to a messy, but it's probably the same thing you're going really? How? Gretzky looks like a golfer, Montana looks like a place kicker. Yeah. You just go, you know, Joe may be weighs a 180 pounds, 185. 6 two maybe? You just go, how does that possible? And Wayne, you just can't imagine the speed of the game, physicality of the game, and that guy has 894 goals. And as great as Ovechkin is, Wayne was so much more than just goals. The number of assists he'd be the all time leading score. I mean, you factor that in, and I did play on great teams, but, you know, here's an egoless star. And that's what Wayne was, because he would rather give you a great pass. But he was just, he was so great at scoring goals. And Ovechkin is the biggest guy on the block when he's out there and he is hungry to score goals. Now, scores talk about, you get addicted. You know, you score two, you want to get it back. You want to keep scoring. You never score enough. And Ovechkin, he has that where it's just never enough and had a hat trick last night as he zeros in on Wayne Gretzky. Next season. To be able to get 894 goals. Yeah. Are there any awards named after Wayne Gretzky? Should it just be all of them? Like the heart trophy just should be called the birth control. Yeah. Yeah, we were talking about the NBA awards that if you're LeBron James, I think you gotta be privately disappointed where somebody goes, oh, did you hear they rename the MVP trophy? And LeBron's like, yeah? Yeah, they're calling it the Michael Jordan award. How would Kareem feel? You know, Kareem probably doesn't care. LeBron would care because LeBron's probably saying, hey, I'm still fighting the good fight. I want people to look at the totality of my career. I'm going to have a greater career than Michael Jordan. Longevity wise, you know, point he's going to be the all time leading score. He's going to be one of the all time assist guys. And he probably goes, wait, what did the NBA do? Yeah, they basically closed the argument there. It's Michael Jordan is the goat. Yes. You don't do that. I don't want callers. Michael Jordan never lost in the finals. Actually, he never lost a game. And he never missed a shot. That's true. Relax. Yes, Todd. Can they make the in the conversation with Michael Jordan? How would LeBron feel about winning bats? "They needed to make a play I felt like they made it. And they ended up losing the game last week because of a punt return. And then I think of this bears offense, which, you know, especially if Herbert's not going to play, which it seems like he's not perfect. And if he does, it's going to be limited, but even Florence is coming off an injury now. So fields is banged up. I think it's really hard to do it as gimmicky. You can catch people by surprise, but we're now in week 11, week 12. And it's pretty hard to duct tape stuff together. And if you're like, here's our quarterback. He's going to complete ten passes a game. And he's going to run around. It's like, cool. Well, we're going to beat the shit out of him when he runs around. At some point, there's diminishing returns to that. And I just think him against this jet's defense is going to be a nightmare for him. Yeah, the question is, if the jets are getting a major downgrade at quarterback and this guy throws a bunch of picks, but I don't even see how that's possible. How is it possible to be the worst in the league? So to me, and make 5 plays. Exactly right. So can the defense make a play can these roger receivers get a couple passes that they weren't getting ahead of time? Also, the crazy Albert brewer is a good reporter. He had this tweet yesterday. It's almost like such salt in the wound for jets fans that like Justin Fields stood up in front of the team and apologized for his performance. In a game that he played awesome against Atlanta, but like if you're a Jets fan here in that you're like, this guy's apologizing in front of the entire locker room for his performance and all right, all right, we get it, Zach Wilson did the exact opposite of that thing. The field is the only wild card in this thing. And he's been on fire. He's been breaking records with what he does. And I said it last week. I really don't like rooting against him. And I really like rooting for the bears. They're a fun outfit right now, but I hear you. I think if you're trying to make a solid pick here, the jets that if they have anything left in the tank, they're beating the bears a team that does not belong on the same field of them. As far as the offense first, the defense goes. Unfortunately, the line has moved to 6. Because of Mike white minus two 15, yeah. Is that not a two point impact? It's totally, makes sense though, right? Yeah. Zach Wilson was that bad. If you watch the game last week, you'd

"And they let Bryce do some stuff second order wise when the play broke down, that really, really crushed them. Bryce young, I think, is a very instinctive player. I think he's very smart. I think he's very smart and how he operates in the pocket. He has some evasions of some pass rush that you're just like, how, how? Like, how did he see that? How did he make that play? It's really incredible some of the stuff that he does. I think CJ Stroud is CJ Stroud plays in an offense. And I don't think this will be a detriment to him, but CJ Stroud plays in an offense where he is always going to have not just one, but two, three, sometimes three. NFL caliber receivers. Yeah. Like at all points in time, basically. The only time Ohio State has sort of kind of struggled this year and the win over Ohio State early in the year was when they had receivers hurt. And their waters were three was basically like vaulted to what she would want. So understanding that when you watch CJ Stroud, you're watching a player who is already playing with multiple NFL receivers. I'm not saying Alabama's receivers. The poor. But CJ's Shroud is playing with some dudes, dudes. In an offense that is very, very past happy. And very, very willing to move the ball that way, even though Trevor and Henderson is a really good running back for hires. And they kind of have something of a thunder and lightning tandem. But you'll go back to a game like CJ Stroud when he has heaters. I mean, they've played Michigan state last year. And there was a point in time where it was like routes on air kind of stuff. I mean, CJ Stroud has some ball placement in him that is like out of this world. You can not walk 30 yards out there and place it into a wide receiver's hands. Sometimes better than CJ struck could sling The Rock. So they're both really interesting prospects. They've been fun to watch. And they've all basically been the guy this guy, like from day one. There was no development track. There was no these guys came in. We're ready to roll and have rolled pretty much since day one. The problem with CJ strat obviously is that, you know what I think our coworker Albert brewer would admit this, you know, Ohio State just a suspect place in the football universe. Is it a real university? We don't know. And so how do you, how do you kind of put that together as a scout during that process? There was historically, I mean, you know this Richard. I mean, just a hesitancy to take Notre-Dame quarterbacks because they were all bad. And I know that that's all turned out to be bad. And I know that that's a horrendous way to base any of your information as a scout, and the one guy that you're gonna miss on is gonna be the great one, but Ohio State now has turned out prospect after prospect that seems to excel in college and then flat line at the pro level is CJ different than any of the precursor first round quarterbacks who came before him.

"Getting them out there and seeing what he looks like, gripping the ball, throwing the ball, Kenny function. The good news is though, I mean, if you think about it, they don't have to rush anything now, you know? Because because Cooper rush has shown he could do the job. So if they feel like this is where it does make a difference, like if they feel like they have any sort of doubt that the decks ready to go out function as a starting quarterback, rush certainly gives them a really good option to be patient, take their time. Albert brewer here on the rich eisen show. Is Baker Mayfield at a crossroads right now? What's Sam darnold's readiness? Matt rule was asked about the college coaching job opportunities today. It seems like Carolina's first up on hot seat crossroad situation this year. Sure. Yeah, I think there's a lot of things to watch and Caroline. And the awkward part of that at rich is the timelines don't really match up. With college and pros anymore, where if you look at like when USC and LSU hired Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley away last year then Notre-Dame and Ellis, Notre-Dame and Oklahoma replaced those guys. I believe that was like the end of November beginning of December. And the gap because the college hiring cycles moved up and the NFL seasons moved back a week now with the AT&T with the AT&T week my 17th game, if you're a coach in the position Matt rule is where you're on the hot seat from an NFL perspective. And you're going to be a hot commodity from a college perspective. Those timelines don't really match up. So where this could get really, really awkward and weird is if the Panthers don't turn it around and I'm not saying they aren't going to turn it around, but as the Panthers don't turn it around and you get to Thanksgiving and the Panthers are completely out of the race and then Nebraska and Colorado and Arizona state Wisconsin want to talk to Matt rule. That's where I think this thing could get really awkward. It's a Panthers win, maybe it won't be if the Panthers pull the plug earlier. It wouldn't be obviously, but this could get awfully awkward. And for baker obviously, there's a lot on the line now. Because eventually, there will come the point when Sam darnold is ready to get back out there. And I don't know how much trust there is in Sam darnold and that building after what happened last year, but we've also seen this in the past. We're desperate times call for desperate measures where coaches, staff are willing to just throw stuff against the wall to try to see what works. Where's the next benching for quarterbacks? I'm looking around, and I'm wondering, it could Washington be one of them. I'm wondering, is there a hot seat for Rivera in Washington, heaven forbid? I love that guy, but right now, Tennessee is now coming to town. There's a Thursday night short week game at Chicago. That reeks of the bears running went into the ground as well. It just doesn't seem to be working right now in Washington. What do you think? I mean, I would say the arrows point in the wrong direction. Right now, and you look at the quarterback ratings steadily gone down week to week. I think even like the coaches, publicly saying a lot of the stacks are on cars and they are. And when you start to see it, when you start to hear the coach is talking that way. Wow. You know, it is very literally a kick in the ass. You know what I mean? You need to do a better job. And so I just you hate to use the word broken. Rich, but I mean, he had a pretty good situation in Indianapolis last year where the coach really wanted to make it work with him and the coals had all kinds of motivation to try to see what they could do to make it work with Carson once. And he was playing with the NFL rushing champion behind him. So there was in the world on his shoulders and it still collapsed down the stretch and now I think you're seeing like Ron Rivera really, really wanted to put his trust in the guy. I just, it's hard, it's hard for me to see right now where he finishes the season as a starter, especially because they've got a kid behind him and Sam Howell, who they actually really like and if the staff does make it to 2023 and because of all that Ron has been forced to put up with his head coach that organization, I would hope that they would give him that amount of row where he gets one more year to show that he can turn it around. I would think that maybe they want. They'd want to see what they have in Sam Howell before they make a decision on what to do a quarterback in 2023. Yeah, I know. How about that? Albert prier. Last one for you, Albert, before I send you on into the day, is there going to be an investigation into Detroit for providing a cart so somebody can go to the bathroom? Is there going to be an investigation? I've needed a card at points in the past. You know what? Do you have a golf cart to get you to get you to the bathroom with the eyes and compounds? No, we don't have that. Don't have that. In all honesty though, Albert, that was just a trick on playing on you because this has been such a it's been such a lopsided conversation that this is a great segment. And I know you're used to calling fake punts up 40. So that was just a trick. I was just a trick for you. Right there. Great job, man. Way to pull out that fake part on Rutgers at 40, Albert, way to go, man. Ready to go. We just got competitive kids. We can get caught up in the moment. Okay. Even our plumber, even our partner is super competitive, you know? Okay. I know Ryan Ryan talked to the kid afterwards. Oh, he did. There were no hard feelings, but just a pretty competitive team to get an asteroid. You know what I mean? You only get 12 of those in the fall. Okay. Well, I mean, we might get 15 this year. We'll see what happens. Actually, I missed it because I was watching the main game on Fox and I didn't see it. I missed that. Yeah. How many games have you guys had in his life on ABC, any of those? I don't know, maybe at some point. I don't know. But don't worry. Ohio still get on Fox when you play us. Don't worry. We'll save a space for you. Check the check the TV ratings over the years. I think you'll see you're the real thing. Oh, it's going to be great. November is just going to be dynamite. Either way, one of us is going to go down and what about us is going to be miserable at the end of November. And neither of you will win the national championship. So what are we talking about? Mister mutton, mister, my better half is an SEC person. Look at him all of a sudden Syracuse is 5 O dino babers, his favorite kid now over there. Hey, I promise I'll come visit the studio. Please. Why not an angle? What January? Okay. Fantastic. Fantastic.

"Because we had our friend Albert brewer who covers the NFL for Sports Illustrated on. He said he was just on Boston sports radio for two hours. I'm sure you're seeing it too. There's a bunch of people who are Googling female employees of the Celtics and just saying, could it be this person? Could it be this person? Could it be that person? That's untenable. That is awful. That is untenable. This is out there. This needs to be resolved stat, Jared. Yeah, that's one of the major conundrums happening here is that a lot of people are getting harmed by this drifting in the winds, but the Celtics also have an obligation to themselves to make sure they handle the handle this right and they take the time they need to make sure it's handled. Right. And so they obviously have to balance those two things. But I think everybody in this city and in the league is looking for this to be resolved as quickly as possible. All right, so then let me ask you this. Why do we know about this? Why do you know about this? Why is this being reported before there is any resolution? To it, Jared. I don't know. ESPN was the first reported. It was reported in a very vague manner. It wasn't clear exactly what it was and I mean, immediately when that happened, my phone started blowing up about, is it this? Is it that? I think that we've gotten far enough down the road and reporting about the shop credit to Sean serani at the athletic having the first scoop that it was a result of a consensual affair in the relationship in the workplace. That was a violation of conduct rules. That's, I think, where we mostly assumed it was going, but and the thing is it's not responsible to name the person and both in the situation with the DOCA. And so when that happens, unfortunately, it's going to lead to rampant and dangerous speculation. Okay. So, well, it's not okay, but I guess that's just a turn of the phrase here. So what happens? What are you hearing is, in fact, occurring right now, like what due diligence needs to be done. The punishment or do they know exactly what has occurred that is the violation in question? It certainly seems like there is definitely a degree of fact finding being done to determine what exactly has been going on. What is the exact nature of the situation? It's been termed as a consensual relationship at this point. And so there's obviously several different ways for that to be determined. I'm about to speculate on how to speak determines, but that is how it has been reported at this point. And so I think a lot of it is deliberating. How do you how do you address the situation? I mean, we've been hearing a year long suspension is the current direction that seems to be going. But it's hard to reconcile what makes a year long suspension work versus either a shorter suspension that allows them to continue to do its job or an outright termination, especially considering he only has one year on his contract left after the season. So a one year suspension would be a de facto firing is what you're saying, Jared? Not necessarily because he could come back at the end of that one year. He's got one more year after this one is what you see. Exactly, yeah, but so it's very rare for a coach that could come in at the end of their as a link duck in the NBA. Who has been as good and successful as a coach early on is you may have, but also how could you justify extending somebody's real when they're currently serving a suspension for this? You're suspended and then extend them. I've never heard. I've never heard of anything like that. It rhymes, but it doesn't work in reality. Wow. I mean, I could see your reaction over the Chris brockman who's our resident Celtic fan. I see your, I'm having the same reaction right here. I don't know where to go other than I guess Jared Weiss of the athletic here. Who is the assistant that's being bandied about Joe Missoula as the one to sit to fill in if there is the lengthy suspension of utopia? Joe is a really fascinating coach in Canada because he hasn't been coaching in the MBA for very long. He joined the Celtics from their G league team a couple of years ago under Brad Stevens and very quickly started making waves and coaching circles and emerged as a major coaching candidate as off season where he was the runner up in the coaching search at Utah that ended up being won by will hardy, who was the associate head coach with the Celtics last year under Rudolph. So Missoula has very rapidly gone to the forefront of coach coach candidates and he's very well respected within the organization for his game planning on both sides of the ball. His demeanor, which is kind of a quiet understate the guy very much like udoka, not quite as much of a trash talker as a dope is, but has that kind of similar demeanor that is similar to what Brad Stevens was and how doka has coached. So he fits in to how this team operates pretty well. It's just that he was just this year getting promoted to the front of the bench and it's very rare that an assistant coach goes from behind the bench that second row where you're not one of the chief assistants to all of a sudden being in charge. But he has a very promising prospect, but the other issue though is that he has had some arrests back when he was West Virginia domestic violence arrest. And so that is where the story gets a little bit more tricky. So you got a guy who kicked himself upstairs who knows the team knows the roster knows how to coach, knows how to be a championship coach. Brad Stevens, being the guy? Do you think? I am not, I have not heard that at this point. I don't think Brad is looking to get back into coaching. You never know how a year off affects that. But I think that obviously it would be very destabilizing for the organization of hero to take on the coaching role at the same time as being in charge of basketball operations. I don't think he wants to take on that dual role that it's very rare though that actually works effectively just because of the amount of strain it puts on both of those physicians. So this doesn't seem like that's happening. And especially because Missoula, while he is very early in his career, is clearly a well qualified candidate and has the potential to grow into a really good coach the way he seems to be doing. But it wouldn't be a first for Boston. I mean, there's a guy whose signatures burned onto the parquet floor he's done it. You know what I mean? That's true. So I think the job is a little bit easier back to that. Maybe a little bit more legwork to be a GM now. I guess so. I would imagine. So I guess what's your best guess before I let you go? Jared Weiss of the athletic here on the rich eisen show. What is your best guess right now as to what is happening in the front offices of the Boston Celtics. Right now. I would say at this point it is very hard to see how udoka could come back from a one year suspension for a workplace misconduct issue. And be the coach again. That seems like it's a very difficult bridge to reconcile. He is a very good coach. He is very well liked and he will probably go on to have a very good coaching career. In this scenario, if he really is being suspended for a year, it is hard to see this playing out with him being the coach of the team a year later. Jared, thanks for the time. And I appreciate you taking the call is that everything is flying and the situation is definitely not settled to say the least I appreciate you taking the call. I'll be more to come for sure. At Jared Weiss MBA, Jared Weiss and BA on Twitter follow him. For the latest as well. Well, just when you thought Jalen Brown retweeting Kyrie, Irving's InfoWars madness was the worst thing that was going

"I know it's amazing. It is absolutely amazing. How about this? Would you rather not be but serviceable? Let's take a break. Your phone calls on the other side right here on the rich eisen show, and I've got three ideas three, Chris of poll questions. Three. Oh, coming up. Back here on the program. So poll question is the suspension for deshaun Watson appropriate. Okay? Just yes or no? Yes or no. No. Yes or no? You know I don't usually like putting yes or no questions. Right? And I don't. Okay. Let's throw that one out there. Then you want to put the I want to do, would you rather be referred to as solid or serviceable? Well, I mean, I would rather reach referred to as solid than serviceable too. So then what's the way to a word? It's solid and insult. I know I'm going to lose. I'm going to lose that one 90 to ten. I say solid all the time. He's a solid guy. But he's a solid guy is fine. It's talking about your work. He's solid. Yeah, that means good. Just forget that. I don't know. Leave it out. It's a losing battle. All right, we'll just leave deshaun. All right, let's go to the two we're going to go to Chris and Phoenix, Arizona. What's up, Chris? Hey, rich, how are you doing today? What's going on in your mind, sir? Hey man, I wanted to talk about the deshaun Watson thing. First I want to tell you that I watched you on the mothership and you and. Jesus. I'm so sorry. Anyway, it's all good. I'll get to my point. No, it's okay, Chris, take a breath. Three daughters. And the Desean Watson thing really bothers me because he is obviously a predator. But what was he doing? Getting massages and doing his thing, like that seems a little like I hope that they suspend him for longer than that. So that's what I'll say about that. And then my other thing was Stuart Scott, by the way. Yes. I couldn't remember his name. Is anybody management GM ownership of the browns? Like, they're okay with this? Oh, absolutely. I mean, what they rather, how could they not be? And thanks for the call. I mean, how could they not be? They signed him before knowing any of this fully. I mean, whatever he told them to their face, and again, he might have done the work that is clearly necessary for him on. Straightening his life out. And he might take offense his life didn't need any straightening out. Again, I don't know anybody in my circle, nor would they admit to, you know what I'm doing with my spare time, I am going all over Instagram and sliding into DMs and asking for people to massage me. I need their help. I need their help within an hour. Hey, where are you? We can meet at this place that I've rented. I can come to yours, I mean, just again, read all of The New York Times material on this, please. Before you form an opinion, or you think you've formed your full opinion on it. He could have done the work he could have and he could just basically be able to just turn the page on his life and say he's not going to do any of this behavior anymore. And the hassle is like, okay, we really need quarterback here. So we'll give you the best contract in the history of the NFL. So when somebody's like, are they fine with this? How are they and they might get offended by me saying, oh, of course they're fine with this. We're not fine with this sort of behavior. We're not fine with this sort of stuff. Well, you paid the man and you also formulated his contract in a way where this suspension does not touch him financially. you set it up that way. And they should be fine with 6 games because you know what the brown season is completely viable. Albert brewer said earlier the commissioner doesn't have many good options because if he does something so significant over the 6 games people would say that the situation was rigged, even though this was collectively bargained or they would sue and thus have a temporary state and he would start week one. By the way, against Carolina and Baker Mayfield potentially. And he hasn't had those options. Those are very poor options. Why not go with 12 games? 12 games, I'm gonna double it, he can play this year. And then also kneecaps the brown's potential season? Why not do that? I'm coming back and I'm doubling it. 'cause you take a look at Sue Robinson's decision. Ian rappaport tweeted out the conclusion. The NFL may be a forward facing organization she wrote, but it is not necessarily a forward looking one. Just as the NFL responded to violent conduct after a public outcry, so it seems the NFL is responding to yet another public outcry about mister Watson's conduct, at least in the former situation, the policy was changed and applied proactively. Here the NFL is attempting to impose a more dramatic shift in the culture and its culture without the benefit of fair notice to and consistency of consequence for those in the NFL subject to the policy. Again, I didn't read we haven't seen what she's referring to earlier, but that does appear to be her looking at the language and making a ruling based on the language in a collective bargaining agreement. And

"Is gonna join us in our number two. He has a new podcast out. We're talk just wide receivers called. Wr one or you think it's called wide receiver one but he just called wr one. That's probably okay. i say and i asked him. Does that mean if you're the the to like no alvin harper's loud on this. You know what i mean you know. John taylor wouldn't be able to crack this song this now. That's pretty harsh is what do i ask him. He's a very prideful matt. Do i ask him that when he was on the viking. Exactly that's this podcast man right. You won't hang up on you. Don't i prefer again not to hang. I mean technically. He would've been the art to on that one randy moss was coming was actually despite his hall of fame credentials because all he used to do is catch touchdown. I mean they're both hall of famers. So maybe they're both now right right right. Right right yeah. I'm just asking those things. I wanna know that's. Wr two though. That's randy moss randy. Moss backing out. No man one hundred twenty two catches seventeen touchdowns that was the year before. It's just gonna be like. Do i ask him the same question. I closed with albert brewer trivia question. I think so. Yeah i think so. You definitely want him to hang up on this. No don't hang up on the way we have. We have a friendship. Ran in my. That's my view. If you asked me questions like that about you know the cowboys hang up on these. These guys bingos. Oh and my face coming on this show but which you know. They're sensitively took an ls week. They can't be just taken out last week's hall of famers. No i i. I'm out there for them. I try to make their lives. Better right will you put everybody in the hall of fame on put never went off. I mean certainly if you're going in the hall of fame hall of fame. I'm here to enhance even more for instance Chris bosh came on this program a few months ago. And he was selling his book and He told a story about how pat riley tried to recruit him to miami and did successfully your story when we were in the meeting. He rolled up sleeves jacket off road up his sleeves and just dumped a bunch of two thousand six championship rings on the table. And then you know he has me pick one And then he then he goes into his his thing and he's a you know. An eloquent dynamic speaker has and afterwards he told me to keep one of the rings and and give it back to him after. I win my first. And that's a hell of pitz right there so the ring did you actually do it. Did you actually walk out without kept it. Actually they'll have it. I haven't given it back even know about told them yet to have it. But i i gotta i gotta let them know you wanna you know how about you. Give it back to them during your speech. Go pretty good. As i check it out of your pocket and say here's pat. Give it back so the speech meaning the hall of fame speech because we knew he was going to the hall of fame. That was back on june. I guess happened this past weekend. Bosh went into the basketball hall of fame and this happened. He took out this.

"Appeared on the show that you were great. I had a chance to make fifty thousand or somebody in the contestant They said the clue by accident. By how much time. You're back on the radio. I don't get the time through our discount asking you there. I don't know for going eight. Four four to back pan Eight four four two four rich number dollars. You had a question for me based on a reporting the stuff. We've been talking about all week. And in the report that the texans in talking to these various teams didn't wanna quarterback in return right. So let's say eventually down the road. Hypothetically miami does trade for to shawn watson just to as just the backup or they ship trying to worship him some morale's they'll ship him somewhere else and some will take him. Somebody had to covet him. Coming out of out of college was the dolphins weren't the only ones who coveted him. Somebody else will look at him. And say i've got i've got it of course but then now does his career suddenly take on this. Josh rosen trajectory. Now josh's on his fifth team made the cut day atlanta after getting a preseason start. But like i don't know you know it takes on a rosen type traja. Well i mean look when you're drafted in the top five. Nobody expects you to be on a new team within four years you know. And that's what happens. Sam darnold and all of that is blamed on the jets incompetence rightfully so or we'll see in carolina if it is rightfully so but nobody expects you to do that. The certainly nobody expects you to be on four other different teams. Like what's going on with rosen. I have no idea. But he made the falcons fifty three which made right a new. Yeah good news. That is good news and And i think he. I'm glad to see him. Get miss shot. Hopefully stays put and arthur smith something in hammond. When you know the natural is done playing at some point rosa might be a guy that they can put there. I have no idea how much time is left on the ryan clock there in atlanta. I don't know but you know. I'm just wondering who would take i i. Just don't it's it's amazing to me. 'cause wouldn't you if you're one of the teams that were out. Let charles robinson no you know his in or charles robinson calls you up again. I i don't like doing this. Where your source. Try to out somebody source here or how is reporting works. But you're calling somebody out ham here in. Something's going on to and somebody tells you here. We were in on it and so and so and so and so and so they wanted this much or you get that from two three four different teams of peace at altogether. He might have gotten out without a single peop- from the dolphins. I wouldn't want that out at all rent because the the the general gist of it is to is less than now. Yeah to was less than two shawn watson all things being equal but the fact is that they figured to was less than without all things being equal but he also that they're ready to they were ready to take on all of that stuff. Yeah until maybe the price too high or the price was fine for them but they just sat around go. Well what are we going to do like really. We're going to have to a sat here like you would basically be putting your twenty twenty one season potentially on hold because of circumstances. You can't control or deshaun. Watson would be your guy and the nonstop you'd have to hear about it and rightfully so many ways is like you don't know what this guy's did or not like you. Just trust him. Now you own all of that and you can't know that you are safe. Owning all of that at all rusty hardin is safe owning all of that. He's the lawyer. And so as shawn watson the he's he says that he's totally got nothing to do with the chargers that have been leveled against him civilly but if you're a football team on the outset of a season you really wanna bring that in no matter how incredibly talented the guys the guy who has no idea what your system is. He has to learn on the fly. You're going suddenly simplify everything just to get started against new england right and from the two aspect it's like he's only twenty three years old but to jeff's point maybe he does just need some time to recover. He is coming off a major hip surgery and he hasn't played a lot of football last year. I want to give a couple of minutes of real estate to that in the next couple of hours. We got albert brewer coming up. We also have some News out of the golf world. it's Then we need to talk about the right or we need to talk about all of that involving to shambo and I wanna hit on that. We have the nfc north to preview today. We've got david costal coming up from billions. Tj got catch up. we've also got a check in on a mazi's meet the mets steadily out. Better than checking on the yankees. All of a sudden lost four in row. All the socks are fallen. I know they are. I know the razor running away with the american league. East in the american league writ large. So there's lots of talk about here on the show and also with you at eight four four two four rich number dow happy to hear your thoughts on what the dolphins of attempted what albert pierre is going to be talking about an hour number two which is All of the transactions. "Like jacobsen at least had some level of pedigree play big time college. Football has skill like skill sets fine. You know what i mean with him is just after the snap. He doesn't see it very well. And i think that's part of why sam allender got got some reps but at least they've got a couple of guys they've drafted that are in the pipeline. I wouldn't i think if you asked most teams. They would take jacobson over. Ben the new teachers based on town because at least east and there's a ceiling there and he played at university of georgia. The university of washington. I think you know you feel more comfortable about going into a game and this is this is really about right going into one game. You feel more comfortable going into a game which jacob and then you would bend the nucci. Here's some good situations. The raiders have marcus. Mariota brown's case keenum. Jags with gardner menchu The saints are going to have either one of the or james and they could both be bad. Dolphins have jacoby. bruce set. Bears niners patriots with rookie quarterbacks. I mean even blaine gabbert isn't horrible right like that's fine. You wouldn't want to be your starter but they drafted kyle. Trask too right. Yeah so like. They've got like a veteran guy and then a developmental guy so they're okay chief sev- chad henny seahawks online. Gino smith have experienced. You're not gonna have. I mean most teams aren't going to have like andy dalton as backup like the cowboys did last year and so i mean having a guy jacoby percent or gino smith. How did the bench not have an established backup quarterback who's not non-threatening is and that's why i still think i still look at it and i don't think nick foles wants to go to the jets and maybe that's a factor in this whole thing. Yeah but i think nick foles would be perfect for the jets. General manager there joe. Douglas was with nick. foles philadelphia. and wouldn't you want zach walsum beyond just what you're saying like which is the in case of emergency break glass thing. Wouldn't you want zach walls to have like a veteran guy in the room as a sounding board you know like the guy who's been there and done it and like can be a resource for them right like you'd wanna have somebody like that in the room so i'm with the. I think that i wouldn't be surprised at the jets. Make a move to put somebody like that in the room zach awesome. It's great to catch up with you as always The best training camp. Stop that you had was where and they'll tell you what like watching the rams practice right now. I think i'm gonna pick the packers to win the nfc but the rams of really they really maybe think about it. I mean i just the way the operation runs and the way matthew stafford looks and just watching where he morris has the new defensive coordinator and watching the way jalen ramsey as with his teammates is a really good vibe. There and can't beat the weather down there either so ram gimme the team. That you came away going uh-huh uh-huh like in a bad way so hard. This time of year say that about anybody the offensive line. I would be concerned with. I would just like that when i was there. They had a rookie at left. Tackle and dan moore a rookie at center. I speak concerned about that offensive line and their defense is going to be really good. Is the defense going to be like like james. Farrior troy paula. malo james harrison. Carry the team good. I think at least for a little while while they figure out the offensive line. They might need to be so. That was the one that really stuck out to me. Was that steelers up. Line and mike tomlin always figures that stuff out that steelers offensive line would have me pretty worried if i was there. Oh this was brought up by one of our listeners. Why are mike. Shanahan and mike holmgren. Not in the hall of fame. I mike shanahan demisch should be. I mean i get the whole thing is about like the story of pro football and like the impact. You've had on pro football. How many teams are running. Shanahan's offense twenty five years after like he like you remember what it was like ninety five ninety six. No one knew what to do with that run game. It basically pumped life into john. Elway's career the very end like that offense that went in twenty five years ago. Half the league's running it now like people who don't like offense coaches who don't know it are trying to get on staffs that run it so they can learn it. You know what i mean. Like how how. He won two super bowls and then the impact that he had on football overall. I i don't know why he has. And holmgren homeowners there to the super bowl two different teams in his coaching trees. Ridiculous like you look at those packers staffs and the guys that were on those staffs. And steve mary you chee and jon gruden and like you go up and down the line like both those guys at least deserve consideration. I think shanahan should be in. And i'm surprised. He isn't and when i look at like bill. Cower jimmy johnson all due respect to those guys i think shanahan has easily on those guys love. Yeah i do too. And i think you're gonna look at bill cower and you're going to have other coaches be compared to build cowards. So mike tomlin is already hall of fame coach in my opinion right right have cowards. In mike tomlin's going to be in. Yeah i think you know to me like it's tough with coaches. Because i think it's not just success. It's like legacy the impact. You know what i mean. So it's not just by tony dungy for example the impact that tony dungy had no tony. Dungy only one super bowl but tony dungy's impact on football the first african-american coach to win a super bowl. The amount of assistance that he had that became really good head coaches like like i would. I don't think you'd argue. Twenty dollars hall of famer but not about his overall record because there are a lot of people who could match his record. It's tony dungy's impact on the game of football and you know. I think that that's sort of what you have to look at. What some of these coaches. that's why would shanahan like his impact is undeniable. Look across the league. Shaw mcveigh his son. Kyle in san francisco matlock. Leur arthur smith who like never coached for him but was influenced by it because he learned his offense from floor like the branches of his tree. All over the place. And so i think you have to consider impact on the game and that to me is like where you separate the guys some guys who've one or two other guys who have won one or two which you know which ones are. Which ones do you give. Entrance to the hall of fame with other coaches who have won four super bowls. The guys like bill walsh bill ballot check and chuck knoll. Great to talk to you. Thanks for joining us as always all right thanks dan. That's albert brewer senior. Nfl reporter for the monday morning quarterback. He's good. I always learned something when he's on James in california. Hey james good morning. What do you have for me today for a long time. Six one to twenty. Yeah you just mentioned on your show yesterday that Kind of with the focal point was gonna be for hard knocks first episode not really focusing on the stars. They i felt like the whole episode was really focused on that prescott. Yeah a little bit of michael. Parsons was kinda. Were you surprised on that or yeah but it feels like they always start with that and then eventually hard knocks is going to be about. Secondary players is there a rift of fight in practice. it's formulaic hard knocks has did i think that they would start out with so much on back. But then they had all of this footage they had the audible of the audio of him talking about. Hey i'm gonna go out there. And i want every snap. And he was gung ho and then mike mccarthy's saying as anybody checking him out. You're going to go out there and get hurt. They had that we didn't know exactly get still a mystery to us this injury. They had the audio of that and that to me was really strong. Zeke elliott trying to wrap a birthday present for act. I didn't need to see it. Felt like it was scripted and the fact that that shows up right after he's finished.

"But if you're looking at the reality of the situation the falcons weren't a really difficult position specifically with the salary cap. Which is not the fault of terry. Font noah arthur smith. They're still cleaning up messes and are going to be for some time. Left behind by the previous administration and so You know just knowing that knowing that they didn't even have enough money to sign their draft. Picks is it puts them at a real disadvantage and then what further complicated at was really going on. The undisputed live are not saying that he wanted a halt. Really put the falcons between a rock and hard place because if you're star player wants out he doesn't wanna play for you like you've got to move them and so i think that that just created a different level of Urgency for the team to go ahead and move on their. Yeah yeah that makes sense to me. That does kind of tie into practical brokers comment with the five dollars donation as well practical. Thank you so much. We appreciate your support. He says people talk like there was some sort of choice and there really wasn't because you wanted to leave a previous poor decisions. Finally to the franchise with this we could finally move forward and upward. Let the new era began with some adults in charge of personnel for change. Yeah so yeah. I definitely hoping for that practical for sure man Also we do have joining us. Dave golic himself. Dave i know your time is somewhat limited. So i wanted to give you a chance to weigh in on the. We're talking about the compensation as what do you think about. The compensation the falcons are able to get for. Julio well nobody gave me any money. Your draft picks for being personally hurt by the trade. So that's unfortunate too big honestly it's a big negative for me personally You know the compensation i think you. I can't ignore the drumbeat of you know. There's no way they're getting a first round pick. I think to your point kevin if they had dragged this out long enough you might have gotten the kind of injury or you know. Oh crab moment from the gm who was like. I have to have julio. But i think even then you know it wouldn't have been what what has been called in recent weeks a clean. First rounder right. They would've wanted something else back. In addition to julio and i suspect that the first rounder that was out there reportedly Then i think albert brea wrote today about this Was not clean. you know they. They were expecting to get another draft. Pick back along with julio. You know it doesn't seem like enough. It's it was never gonna feel like enough for julio jones because he's julio jones i think if you look at the fact that so many reports suggesting they weren't gonna get it. It's probably a fair price. It's hard for me at somebody who was really excited about putting all these weapons on the field together You know seeing what matt ryan and arthur smith could do with julio jones calvin ridley kyle pits etc To accept that you know second rounder and then a fourth round next year And he's gone so it doesn't feel like enough even if they really nail those two picks which i hope they do You know it will never quite feel like enough but they were kind of backed up against the wall. They clearly decided that this was going to how they were gonna excuse me. They were going to free their caps faced by doing this Julio wanted out so knowing that knowing as best we can from the reports that were out there. What else was being offered It's probably the right move but it's a move that makes me sad so i don't like yeah big said big said for sure Yeah i don your your thoughts on the compensation. I figure was fine. Entre used to because you are worth with the market dictates. And i understand. We are fans of the falcons. Were fans of william john. So we're we're going to look at it with our heart in our emotions all the time. And you know you'll get what will you jones's don Franchise in the past ten years. And like dave said nomadic compensation would have ever felt like it would have been enough but then just Just to look at it from the other side of things from let's say tennessee's point of view who made the trade off. Julio jones is thirty two years old he's certainly not he certainly toward the back end of his prime on the wrong side of thirty he has a contract. They take his entire contract. And i commend. Terry on no like eric said for sticking to his for drawing that line in the sand and for saying if if you don't take his entire contract than its no-go like well will hold onto for as long as possible so they're taking his entire contract. Which in my opinion. I feel like the falcons in i wrote an article about this years ago. Back in twenty eighteen goes a mistake. T even give him that three-year sixty six million dollar contract when he had three years left on his on his deal in the replaced. The new year's of like just now started to like. That's what's funny about. It is like that was a terrible precedent is said i feel like thomas dimitrov's through his just his pandering to the fan base. He always he constantly made moves that were questionable on the field on the bugs but that made him you know look better toward the fan base which is always a terrible quality to have for. Gm in you know in that explains a few of those terror those like ridiculous like draft night videos of him explaining the drop to the fan base after reasonable pick. But you know that's a story for the that's s for the dead zone episodes coming soon. Yeah but yeah it's Will jones as have three years left. I remember albert brewer in that article in that article. I recommend everyone to read it on monday morning quarterback this morning a fantastic article had a lot of insights. Something else that people may be considering folio. Jones has a great season this year. Which you know definitely possible. He may demand another contract going into next season. And you know he may be willing to hold out as well so that that plays into it as well. There's there's a lot of levels. There's a lot of layers to this which you know it sucks wanted as much obligations ospel. But given the fact that he demanded trade months ago Given the fact that he's thirty two years old that that's on the table the fact that this contract in my opinion pretty pretty rich for him are pretty rich overall on the twenty two million dollar a year annual contract feel like a second round pick and fourth round next year is. It's fine given the fact that they took inspire contract. Yeah yeah that makes sense to me. And then finally. We'll wrap it up with evan here on the compensation evan anything else. You wanted to add now think everybody covered brilliantly. The only other thing is You know i see online. Some people make the comparison in that they could have gotten more that Mohamed sanu round. Pick in i think. Dwi said it best on the podcast yesterday That the falcons robbed the patriots like that was robbery This was more of a fair trade in what you'd expect Considering his age is unknown said steps so yeah yeah. That's that's true definitely something to keep in mind So yeah i guess now we could talk about the salary cap implications because those are very important as well So the the trade does clear a lot of salary this year. For the falcons it clears fifteen point. Three million which was the entire base salary from. Julio jones it does not clear his seven point..

julio jones Dave Julio jones thomas dimitrov albert brea matt ryan Will jones Terry three years thirty Three million kevin Julio Dave golic five dollars today yesterday william john fifteen point Jones

"This is a guy who went from the top of the class. Having to give away to Joe broker's job. Bro was the story of the century and job growth certainly paid off already for the Cincinnati Bengals, hopefully comes back well from the injury, but I want to see to it with some time. I want to see two of wisdom with some good coaching because I'm starting to fear, especially with the dish on Watson conversation. That, too. It could start to go by the way of Josh Rosen, and I don't want that to happen. We see a different generation of quarterbacks that now have a new market. And what can a good coach with a lot of power? Allah, Mike Vrabel and Ryan Tannehill with Arthur Smith is their offensive coordinator. Of course. What can a coach with a lot of power and a lot of leeway do with one of those cubes were about to see it with Stafford at some point here, Albert Breer said. I believe it was Albert Brewer, who said that he believes that Matt Stafford could be traded before the Super Bowl next week. I'd like to see what these guys could do because it on Lee strengthens it That guys need coaching young quarterbacks need coaching. Young quarterbacks need a system. That's why worry about to, uh they're interested in winning, they might not be able to provide the groundwork for two But that you confined quality. You confined, good play out of position that guys like me say that's used up because we're just on to the next big thing to talk about. You're talking about Stafford. There's not a whole if I talk to you about Stafford, there's a little bit about talking about Donald. People have already given up on him. I still don't think that it's all said and done with Sam. Darling, I know that I believe that it needs a change of scenery. 855 to 1 to four. CBS Our tribute to John Chaney, a one for N It's what you're going to do. It's not what you've already done, and the team that has been the champion of that is failing themselves. Right.

What Is the Patriots' Plan at Tight End?

"Second question i had foil is regarded. These tight ends that they drafted in the third round as a fan of them. Going after two tight ends. Because i just. I was hoping that it was going to go back to the kind of offense like nam doesn't gronk were your and it. Obviously that isn't happening but it's almost it's almost like a redshirt of the two of them. This year. I think they have one. Catch combines the between the two of them was going into the season with them. So limited on getting offensive snaps. Was that planned or was it more based on their health or was it more based on that this belgian just wasn't seeing what he thought he was gonna see leading up to the draft. Stop yeah i well i think number one you earn and sort of what you see on the practice field. You know ossie was okay to start camp I would see either of them. Blue anybody away. And i know there have been some injury issues but i don't really think that's been much of a factor i mean you know you look at back in two thousand and ten when they had gronkowski and hernandez people kind of forget that hernandez was the one who hit i him he was he was a decent part of the offense from the gecko that year. We're gronk was really more a blocking tight. End do a little bit. By the end of the season he was catching touchdown passes and becoming more of a force and so guys have their own path. And it's all brian what they show how they get the offense how they execute stuff like that from people that i've talked to around the team. It just with devon. Aw siasi good for about two weeks and then tom for every nfl rookie. There comes a point in time when they realized the. Nfl is hard that these guys are good. That the coaches are tough that being a pro and having to wake up every day and do a day after day and sore body and all this stuff like it sets in like it's a profession and some guys look at it like You know. I'm not having a whole lot of fun anymore. This was like when you know when. I went to rutgers and i was playing on the baseball team. You know my second. I could come back from his hand surgery. I had but i really wasn't having that much fun anymore in kind of wanted to be more of a college kid so alice sort of left the game but these guys they realize it's it's a profession in some of them rise. Some of them love it some of them rise in say okay. I like this i can. I can meet the challenge and push through and some guy sort of shrink in from people i've talked to. That's been siasi. Here has not been a lot of mental toughness behind the scenes. I think you can see some of it in his play on the field in terms of just as body language when he's on the field donkey i think he has more of a chance. I think the consensus. And i know. Albert brewers working on something about ballot. Check in his drafting. And i think he's gonna talk about these titans because we've been chit chat and back and forth The past couple of days but about how like everybody says like dalton kimes overdrafted Qian's been almost like a big puppy where he's kind of all over the place and you think he wants to be there. I think he loves football. So i don't really worry about him. It's when he's going to get it. And i think once he gets it and he gets his role and they create more of like a crash jensen type of role for him. I think he's gonna flourish. And i think he's going to be a weapon for this team. Aussie i don't know what kind of future i don't know if he has any future here to tell you the truth and i think the patriots Fell into a trap. And i don't know if this was by design or just bella check being bell check. But what tom we're not idiots they certainly are idiots. We all knew the deal at receiver in tight end and so for belgium to come out of this draft trade out of the first round. Give up like a kenneth murray or whatever you wanted to do there and then take three defensive guys would your first three picks like when there were tight ends. Probably that you had rated higher there that you just passed on and all of a sudden you're scrambling it looked like to get off siasi and dalton keen like. That's problematic and to me. It illustrates sort of the personnel problems that they've had last four five
