Bill O'Neill sitting in and the editor's desk the Trump Organization's longtime CFO Alan Weiss. Alberg pleaded not guilty today to grand larceny and several other crimes, including conspiracy. ABC is Aaron Contour, ski joining us on the Coma, Newsline and Erin. These indictments on Sealed alleged this pattern of tax avoidance at the Trump Organization that's orchestrated by the most senior executives. What are they saying Why Spielberg did and how are they saying Donald Trump is connected over 15 years. Prosecutors here in New York said that Alan Weiss Silberg led a scheme to defraud tax authorities by really trying to move compensation. Off the books so that it would lessen the companies and ultimately, the executives own tax burdens. Weisberg himself allegedly benefited to the tune of about $2 million and this was systemic. Prosecutors said. Weisberg was not the only executive to benefit others did, according to prosecutors, though they were not named, And these were things like school tuition and rent free apartments and and other expenses that were run through the business rather than properly accounted for, and the way prosecutors portrayed it. Ran for for 15 years, and they unsealed 15 separate charges against the company itself and against Y. Silberg. Chief financial officer Donald Trump is said to approve every single thing in this organization. But prosecutors would have to prove that he knew about these perks and the spending. But more than that, he'd have to know that y Silberg was dodging taxes was his name on the checks. His name was on at least some of the checks, according to the indictment that there were some checks for school tuition that were signed. According to the court records by Donald Trump himself. Although he was not named in this indictment, the former president called these charges against his chief financial officer and his company, a disgrace. And really, it sets up a stunning prospect that a former president of the United States now has to defend the company that led to his fame and fortune and ultimately to the nation's highest office. He has to defend. That company against these criminal charges, And just because he did know about the perks doesn't mean he knew that they were dodging taxes. That's where the burden of proof would be. Well, certainly, and the the prosecutors remember are not accountants. They're not interested in near irregularities or mistakes. Even though the Trump organization through their lawyers sought to portray this as better resolved civilly an unprecedented type prosecution. This is fairly boilerplate. Type white collar crime prosecution company tries to reduce their tax burden by moving certain compensation off the books. That is what prosecutors called secret pay raises subsidized by taxpayers. Is y Silberg. Really the key to this case, or are there so many documents that they have, and and are they doing this now? Because of a statute of limitations? Why now? Well, they've been looking for the better part of two years and went to the Supreme Court twice to get a hold of the former president's personal and business tax returns. They were Prepared to bring this these charges for quite some time, And I think the indictment here is noteworthy for what it does not talk about. It doesn't talk about some of the things that first piqued the interest of investigators. Things like hush payments to women. Things like property valuations in the way that Trump Organization in the former president may have valued their holdings one way for banks when they were trying to get loans in another way when it came to paying taxes. And the former president. While not directly tied up in this particular indictment, certainly is in the crosshairs of of prosecutors for potentially future charges. Michael Cohen flipped any signs that Weisberg might and could. This also spelled trouble for the former president's Children?.

A lot of people like to talk that way is that we're climbing Mount Everest or something. Trying to find some guru. I think it's about the creation of meetings. We're all individuals were all separate people and life's about the creation, meaning for ourselves. He was the founder of the Boston Phoenix and, uh, I had the good fortune of meeting Stephen and working with him for a few years in early early in my life. And he used to say all the time. Hey, everybody! This is not the dress rehearsal. This is it. This is it. There's no dress rehearsal. This is life. That's very true. See, you know, it's right through the whole point. You know, I believe in spirituality in that I'm not talking about religion. I believe about being in connection with the world around you. You have to be conscious of your actions conscious of you, in fact and understand what's going on around you. Just this morning, I was going to work out. You know, it's about 6 30 in the morning and I was down and traveling the back lane. And there were four deer standing there and, you know, I stopped the car. I mean, I'm a grown up, dear. Oh, dear. It's not like an exotic animal, but I stopped the car and just watch them for a while. And watch what they did, and you make a connection and too often. We're rushing through life. We're missing all the connections. Yeah, Yeah, It's so funny. Because this morning on my walk my my pre sunrise walk, which I do with a few women, we walk along the harbor here in Boston, which it was just as you as you can imagine. You saw this morning one of the most beautiful sunrises in a while and We go by the aquarium. We have the harbor seals on the front of the aquarium and the first Cyril's in the back of the aquarium. And to go into and to be In our of these animals, and to just talk with him and see them respond to you is just extraordinary. Well, it is, but I also think that the animals and the Jews are occupied. Looking at the people, you know, it's it's certainly a two way street. You know, one of the great, you know, Just this past year I play with President my dog every day, weather permitting, and German shepherd on. It just occurred to me recently. He's eight tow doing story. You know, 78 years just occurred. So you still think that I'm not flipping this Frisbee so we can run to catch and have a good time. He's indulging me. He realizes that I like to play it. They'll catch it's worth five times. But then she'll head toward the door and say, OK, that's enough. Um uh,.

You is going to provoke you. Think in different ways at times. It may even make you mad but what it's going to do is if you will follow the advice that Alan Weiss gives you in this book. Oh they didn't they didn't tell me that's okay so let's do this then Since we only got five minutes then I didn't realize that. So let's do. Let's do this. Let's then jump right to the very end and let's just spend just a few minutes here if you would be willing to Do that is. Let's let's just spend a few minutes on how Allen we would help somebody walk through fearless leadership but generally say. The show's called a new direction. We try to help. People find a new direction and success and leadership intellect career business. So what we'd Alan. We say in regards to Leadership and success based on his book fearless leadership. Well I say the following the debt leadership is is learnable that You don't have to be born with certain affinity there learnable skills. I think success is different for for everyone Life is not a search for meaning. Life's about the creation of meaning and I think that true leaders today are leaders who say follow me. Don't say you go ahead. I'll meet you there. I'll give you one example in conclusion here that I think sums it up in the civil war. The highest fatality mom officers was among Brigadier Generals one-star generals and that is because they lead brigades and they would get on a horse and their men were on foot and on this horse. They follow me and they'd start marching across a meadow and of course being on the horse with the targetable sharpshooters and the foot soldiers said. Well if he can get up on that horse and go forward so can we. And when when the general might have been shot which is often the case They rallied in his name and in his memory and they went. And so today you still have to lead from the front. You still have to get on your horse and you still say. Follow me and you cannot say. Most generals today in the army are back in some safe areas in a bunker directing things via computers today as a business leader. You still have to say. Listen I'm on my horse? Follow me I love. I love that you have been. You've been very gracious guest. I just WanNa thank you so much for doing that. I I love your quote on page. Eighty two of the book. You said there's no perfect leadership style. I've never found one and I I love that about you and I love the fact that you're always honest and you're always upfront you are. It is true You are not here to be liked. And by the way leaderships isn't about to be liked about respect it's about being respected and so. I appreciate you being on the show and I wanted to. Just thank you for your graciousness and and spending some time with us today. I really appreciate it. Thank you my pleasure. I apologize for the fact. Didn't know this had to end at a certain time but the books right poplar and I think they just piled a lot of interviews but thank you for taking time you have with me. No it's my pleasure and maybe we can do this again with another book. I would love to do that. That'd be a pleasure. You have a great day you too. Thanks a lot. Alan appreciate it.
