"It's just they've got some catching up to do here. Bill is up, is that predicated Tennessee on not only their explosiveness, but obviously the win over Alabama counts a lot. But that win at other shoe has to really help their resume, does it not? Yeah, no, I mean, at that point, not only beating LSU of a beating LSU the way they did and then turning around in a beating Bama like almost nobody's going to get to the finish line with a better one, two set of wins than that. Georgia may be obviously Oregon lost and kind of screwed up a little bit. But really, Tennessee, that pair of wins is what they're going to hang their hat on here because they don't really have another chance to make noise. South Carolina appears to be fading for the most part, Vanderbilt is doing well, but they should hand the Vanderbilt just fine. So they're going to have to rely on that Alabama LSU combo and it's a pretty good combo. It's going to make them pretty convincing. Let me get to the school that really doesn't get talked about much unless you're looking for the biggest bust of the season. And that's Texas a and M and Jimbo Fisher. Lost number 7, Saturday. Against Carnot Williams and auburn, what happens from here in terms of him trying to convince people that he can salvage this program, yeah. I mean, we were ready this season for the quarterback position to be kind of disappointed. And if only because it's been disappointing and we knew how kind of holding them back it was decent enough for them to score some wins and have 8, 9 win seasons or whatever and in 2020 was good, obviously, but what's happened this year with the offensive line. And with the defensive line, it's young and could still grow into something awesome. But the line play has fallen off dramatically. I thought that's what they were going to be able to really lean on this year, even at the quarterback play wasn't up to snuff, but we were talking, they could be disappointed at the beginning of the year. We were thinking maybe they go 7 and 5. It's disappointing. It's falling apart to such a degree that I don't know, I don't know. I have no idea why the line plays has fallen off to this degree and everything else. This is like a full season autopsy kind of deal that I could dive into because this is so much worse than anything we could have expected it to be this year. And how you get the faith back from there? I mean, he'll get the chance because you can't afford the buyout of probably can't, I guess. But the way you build this back, I don't even there's not a good example for me to call on to tell you how it happened. Great stuff. Bill Conley always enjoyable and informational. "We head to Baton Rouge for the first time this afternoon. We've talked about it already, but the huge game down there between LSU, hosting Alabama Holly rogue from ESPN, of course, part of the broadcast and always great to join us. Holly, thank you so much, really, can't wait to get more information about this one. Tell us about what you've been able to come up with so far as you get ready for tomorrow night. Well, first of all, could you ever imagine a time in the SEC where Alabama LSU is not the game of the year and the game of the week, it's kind of cool to see that Athens Georgia is the circle of the universe right now in the SEC very interesting. But I wanted to play off what I just heard coach Brian Kelly talking to you about is how they are building layers of accountability here with this LSU football team. I was just talking with their Jack kind of defensive end hybrid player BJ O jalari and he brought up a great point of they have to be accountable for a lot of little details and Paul I'm talking about, did they take their supplements today? Did they get their treatment? Have they met with their tutor? Did they go to class? Are there assignments finished? There is a level of detail and accountability happening here at LSU. That hasn't been here for the last few years. And that's just a fact. So that is translating to the football field. Well, then they're taking care of the air assignments. They're executing the plays. And this is a football team that I think everybody will agree is ahead of schedule. They had 39 scholarship players. So they're ahead of schedule with their wins this season, but they are improving, getting better, and it all starts with the small levels of accountability. Talking to Holly roe here from Baton Rouge, Holly. I'll get it right. I want to ask you about Brian Keller because he dealt with Brian Kelly so many times over the years. And from a distance and that's all I really know him from a few interludes, but not like you. He just seems calmer and I'll let you finish the thought because I'm really curious what you're being able to get from him. I think you're reading it very well, Paul, because I've known coach Brian Kelly since I covered his national championship winning team in division two football at grand valley state. This is someone I've known for almost 25 years and I think that I don't know that I've ever seen him as happy and carefree and why I think that is, this is a place that he knows he can win. The fan base so far is embracing him to some extent and letting him coach football. I think that he is one of the best football coaches we have in the game. And if you look at it, he is the winningest football coach if you don't count the divisions over the last 32 years in college football. And I just don't know that he ever got the love and appreciation that he deserved at Notre-Dame. He had 7, ten win seasons at Notre-Dame. They got to the college football playoff. They got to the BCS national championship team. And I don't know that that fan base ever really embraced him and appreciated him. Like they could. And he can win here. You can get players at LSU. This program is unbelievable. They have this gorgeous new football facility and building that is top of the line in everything. They can recruit here. And I will not be shocked to see him right back in the college football playoff and competing for national championships because Brian Kelly is a fabulous football coach. And Holly not to get too deep into the weeds I know you started the year with Notre-Dame and we're up there and I think Notre-Dame has a great coach and I know you agree with me but it was just strange the reaction from so many Notre-Dame people and I understand you always get a little bit snarky when your coach leaves, but having been around now the LSU program and having started the year covering Notre-Dame. I'm just curious how you square the two. Yeah, it's interesting. I think Notre-Dame is a unique fan base. It's kind of us an hours. You know, it's a secluded fan base to some extent. If they want somebody who's like them. And Brian Kelly is a northeastern guy from outside of Boston, he's a snarky sarcastic guy. I don't know if he always reads to every room, but he's hilarious and sarcastic. So, you know, part of that is personality. There were some things that happened earlier in his tenure at Notre-Dame that made it challenging, but here's what I know at LSU. He has every resource imaginable. I actually got to spend some time talking with their team sports mental performance doctor on the sidelines. He has another doctor that's handling all of the players off the field activities that setting them up for success in life. He has one of the best player evaluation departments in the country. He's got a great recruiting department. There's just a level of resources here. That I think are going to be different. And I don't understand it either. I used to always get frustrated that they didn't embrace him and celebrate his success more at Notre-Dame. But I think they're going to, they're going to look back on his tenure there and say, wow, we had a pretty good coach. What were we thinking? Final thought and I'll end with the person that really helped put in motion what you're experiencing right now in Baton Rouge and that's Nick Saban. I know you always enjoy encountering him. You've had a few of those lately. What have you learned from him this week? We haven't talked to him yet, Paul. Be honest, as soon as I leave you, we're driving over to the hotel to meet with coach Saban. But I know he loves coming back here. He has a lot of people who still love and appreciate him here. He's kind of still to this day, you know, a very beloved, revered figure here in Baton Rouge because of what he did for the tigers in his short stay. So I expect this to be a really intriguing game. I think that the game is going to come down to a couple of things. Number one, execution offensively. Bryce young played here in Death Valley two years ago and it was COVID. There was not a crowd here. So this is going to be a different environment. This is going to be a real test of Alabama on the road. Yes, they played at Tennessee. Yes, that was crazy. I think this is a little bit of a different animal here. And so how bright young responds? I think we'll be interesting. And then whether they're really cool storyline that I'll just share with you before I go, is Bryce young and Jaden McDaniels are friends. They actually grew up playing pop Warner against each other as little boys in Southern California. They've been texting, not this week, but in the last two weeks, they've been texting. They work out together in the summer. So, you know, two kids from California as the starting quarterbacks at Alabama and LSU and they are really good friends. I think that's a fun storyline for fans to keep their eyes on this week. How are we always thoroughly enjoyed talking to you on these Fridays? Thanks so much. We'll be watching tomorrow night. Be well. Thank you. Thank you. Holly rode, joining us from Baton Rouge and we are live in Athens where an hour and 15 minutes away from talking to Kirby smart right here as he gets ready for one of the biggest games of the year in college football. Actually the biggest. Coming up next, the president of the university of Georgia, president Jerry moorhead will join us right here. We're

"We've had a chance to check in. Andy, good afternoon. Are we doing Paul? I'll spare you the prosaic, what was your number one takeaway from the CFP ranking. But I would like to know overall what your thoughts are and what does it all mean right now. I think it means they'll do another one next week and we may like that one better, but you can't get too bent out of shape about where Tennessee is right now at number one if you don't like that. Well, they play Georgia. So if they beat them, great, you'll feel really good about them at number one next week. If they don't beat them, they won't be at number one next week. So you don't have to worry about that. Clemson at number four seemed to cause the most consternation that I saw and when people ask, why is Clemson a number four? They do give off some pretty big 2014 Florida state vibes, where that team did go undefeated, but that didn't feel like it was one of the elite teams by the end of that season. They were kind of hanging on by the skin of their teeth. And then they went and got blown out by Oregon and the rose bowl. I think Clemson's sitting at four because as we've learned from the committee, they like their own top 25. And if you've beaten teams that are in their top 25, they like you. So Clemson beats Syracuse wake forest and NC state, which are 2021 and 22. So they're looking at that and they're going, oh, well, they got three top 25 wins. Well, next week, that number could be significantly less because wake and NC state play one another. So one of them is going to lose. Syracuse is that pit. That's a losing game for Syracuse as well, especially after what we saw against daughter dame last week. So the question is, well, we'll Notre-Dame still be there. I'm sorry, we're Clemson, still be there. They're playing at Notre-Dame. There are only three and a half point favorite against a team that lost a Marshall in Stanford. It's a really weird, really weird deal. Andy, let's dispense with that because you're right. So much will be taken care of Saturday in Athens. Let's talk about that game. And what stands out to you is the most important element of this game as we are so excited and eager to see what happens. Can Tennessee run the ball against Georgia because I think that's very important. Tennessee's offensive line has been very good this year, not gotten a lot of the credit because we're watching the aerial show. We're watching London hooker throw to Jalen Hyatt and he's wide open streaking down the field. But if you watch them play, they'll set things up with the run. They're offensive line has been moving opposing defensive lines pretty well. Darnell Wright, their right tackle had an incredibly good game against will Anderson in the Alabama game. So how do they do against that Georgia defensive line and Jalen Carter, who is going to be the most sought after interior defensive lineman in the NFL Draft next year. If he's blowing things up from the middle, it's going to be hard for Tennessee to operate that offense effectively. If that offensive line holds up, and if they are moving the line of scrimmage a little bit, allowing those run place that set up those past plays and the ones that follow the long passes that tend to really gas the defense, then Tennessee should be able to score pretty effectively on Georgia. And I think they're going to have to because I think George's offense is going to be able to move the ball in Tennessee's defense. The other game that is getting no attention, and it's a really interesting one. We've never ignored an Alabama LSU game like this one, even though we had Kelly on earlier, but we buying too much into this LSU turnaround, or do you think they have a legitimate shot? I think they do. It's in Baton Rouge and you and I both know Paul. The way those games go, either Alabama comes in there and blows their doors off, or LSU makes Alabama absolutely miserable. Now sometimes Alabama wins sometimes LSU wins in those ones, but they are crazy that you've got the TJ yeldon screen pass game. You had the one where it goes to overtime in Alabama has to throw to an offensive lineman to get the ball into scoring position and then of course you got 2010 where less miles 8 grass and all kinds of crazy stuff happen. So you've got LSU, which has played Alabama tough. They played Alabama tough last year, even though they'd already fired their coach. So I do think from a top end talent standpoint, LSU should be able to hang in there. The question is, how much is Jayden Daniels improved over these last few weeks? And because Florida's defense is not very good. I think given what we've seen in the auburn game and the Texas a and M game that were sandwiched around that LSU game, I don't think old misses defense was playing that great either when he played them, but how much of this is he needed some proof of concept and these receivers needed some proof of concept and now they and Mike denbrock the play caller have a better idea of what they're good at and how they work together. I do think there's something to that. So I think Alabama is seeing a much better LSU team than say Tennessee did. Talking to any of these Staples about the state of college football Andy, let me get to the story that broke on Monday and most of us have moved on from Brian. Primarily because we're all interested in what happens next to conventional wisdom, always a dangerous word to use with a noted scribe IQ is lane kiffin is number one on the hit parade. What can we make out of the weekend auburn? Well, I mean, we knew this was coming.

"Around the bow and down the whole road tide roll. That sucker was full of all our wins. We get permanent ink right down all the victories. In the 2000s. Now AJ McCARRON in 2012, yes. We got the tallest seat prematurely when we were at getting ready to write down one up and sure enough I said, go get the tallest seat. I remember that one. Yeah, that was one of those. That's one of the, I'm not sure, and all the years I've been to Tiger stadium I've ever seen a disposition of a crowd change more yelling, yelled, yelled, and I think it was a yelled, and yet TJ yelled and ran for that touchdown. The only reason I remember it so well is he literally ran right past me on the sideline. A bit Larry was screaming that night in 2012, when Alabama pulled out a turned a sure loss to LSU into a victory which helped preserve a shot at a national championship, which they later won against Brian Kelly. Oh, yeah. You got that right. That was some good guys, man, going back. You know, looking back. I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to hit you with a curveball there about one of the most important games in modern Alabama history. You act like you didn't even remember. Well, I remember Paul, but after so many beers, they've become a little frog. I bet they do. And I would imagine because that game ended about 1130 at night, I would think that was one of your more heavily intoxicated evenings. Oh, yeah, that's one I could really knock them down. Now the boy, yeah, I was. Larry, just for just for old time's sake, we'll just imagine this is ESPN classics here from yesteryear. For a game like that in 2012, which in case you don't understand it was ten years ago, about how many would you have put away for by the time you got to the end of the Alabama LSU game in Tiger stadium? 35. 35, 38. We're talking bud lights. Are we talking 12, 16 ounce? Yeah, little quail out. Yeah, at least 35. Yeah, I think that I'll have 5 or ten for the game. That ain't nothing. You ain't

"I took a morbid into san francisco. Forty niners franchise took him to three straight. Nfc championship games. I am a michigan man. Cut from the cloth of both boeckler. I can roll out the ball and my glasses and make michigan of power again. Just by being. Jim harbaugh did that up until ohio state and i think the ohio state beat down. Since he's been there have been the root of him coming down. Because i don't care how good you are. I don't care how much your team is cut in the cloth of the big ten statue. If you can't compete with ohio state you were always going to be ten in to jim. Harbaugh and while every other program aside from alabama lsu the teams down south would be okay with that would other You know those. Those teams aren't but it's not good at michigan. And he knows that now because he's he's he's not on thin ice but that even wore thin with the locals and he's finally figured it out. Yeah i think he was. I think he was a really tough spot. i mean they they cut us our a pretty much They they allowed him to stay there. And i think the pandemic had a lot to do with it but there was no support from michigan. Fans i don't i don't care what they say and crack back at you or me or anyone else. I mean he. He was dead man walking and now he has a pulse. And that's good because we will finally find out what he's all about and you know he's a long way from from title but there have been many times as we head into the second weekend in october that he had that he that he had a pulse. Either did we find out enough about cincinnati beating notre dame in earning a way into the discussion. Well let here. Here's the big part of the conversation. They they have earned away into the conversation. But i read a couple of things overnight. Matt we're columnists or you're getting. They're they're happy feet on and they're saying Cincinnati absolutely deserves to be in the playoffs. No they don't the you cannot make that statement right now in anyone who does is not being objective and there are many many reasons why they have two wins right. now that are significant in this conversation. They beaten indiana. Which you and i both know doesn't mean one thing. And they have one at notre dame which traditionally means a great deal but but matt where would this notre dame team rank right now in the big ten. Where would it rank in the sec. It would not be very good. This is a this is not a vintage notre dame team and their schedule is as you said is their schedule. But it's not going to help them it's only going to hurt them playing to lane And all these other In conference games are going to knock them down and regardless of where they're ranked With oh they'll be ranked in the top four or five and a lot of folks are colleagues. Put them in the playoff this week. But i i can't put them in the playoff right now And i sincerely doubt unless there is mass carnage. They're not going to get in to be you know the. Let's just look at it. The sec has to okay. The big ten has one at at least. And you know the organs gone so that leaves oklahoma and the big twelve. The big twelve is not dead yet. They're still alive in spite of their chaotic play. And i just don't see how there's going to be room for. Cincinnati and let's everybody just piles on losses other than alabama georgia or. Maybe even including them. Let's get one thing straight. There's no one dedicated to getting it. Done like cross country mortgage. They've got the best closers in the game. Who else did you know. That can close a home in twenty one days or less the team. Chemistry the cross country mortgage loan officers. Have a whole moaning win. Couldn't be more certain we're talking every type of loan reno refi jumbo visit. Ccm dot com.

"Obviously the biggest biggest game of the night after the. You know the game in the afternoon with florida. Alabama was in happy valley. It was the whiteout atmosphere auburn visited. And you know just sitting in our green room like that game felt different than all the other games. Just the energy in there Even even to some degree compared to the florida one. I felt like just again. Maybe it was because Because of the night atmosphere because of the whiteout something about it I thought auburn's defense. Actually i thought played really really well. I mean it was hard for noah kane and a in some good running backs to get anything going But is a big win for a big win for the big ten as much as anything. I mean what was your takeaway from watching that. That penn state team which order now has to really good wins by the way the first three weeks of the season. Yeah i mean incredible scene and then afterward holly rose interviewing james franklin and sean clifford and and they're fired up. They had this big win in. It's almost like last year. Twenty twenty never happened you know they. They hardly was just last season. They started owen five and we knew there are a lot of weird circumstances that went into it. But you can't ask for better way to just kick that to the curb by beating wisconsin auburn to the first three weeks of the season. I haven't seen the new people yet are have to think solidly in the top. Ten at this point are should be. They should be in the top five. At this point. I think part of the cfp conversation The defense has been terrific In both games Tank big she had. I think over one hundred yards but in a knicks. And i feel like this is the story of his whole career. struggled mightily in that atmosphere. But i think the thing i'd be most encouraged about is sean clifford. Who had a miserable season last year. he only had four incompletions the entire night he found. It just seems like anytime. They needed a big play. He would find johan dotson or one of the Why penn state always has a great tight end bigger. Great pass catching tight end so yeah. It was a really big win for them. I i wrote about this in my final thoughts com towards the anchor street. When are a little bit of a soliloquy about how this had been such a great week in such a great atmosphere specifically because it was the big ten versus the sec. And we think about it in auburn had just entered the top twenty five the week before there wasn't this wasn't a team that this wasn't a ohio state oregon type game where you seen coming offseason. It felt as big as it did because auburn's in the sea and anytime you can beat an sec team it's a measuring stick game. And so i'm thinking about that going. Yeah he said he said. I hope we have more of these In the future as i agree i more big tennessee. Seattle get the better. And then it's like how come the big ten wants to be part of this alliance. Where if anything did they. They're some saying they can't schedule the sec. But are you really going to. If you're already gonna play one. Acc one pac twelve team every year. There are some great home homes. Already scheduled especially ohio state alabama. Don't have say georgia. So we have that to look forward to but george Mr been going out there. preaching the gospel the alliance. Anybody who will listen and has been very adamant that it's going to be those two games a year Scheduled not ten fifteen years in advance but but right before the seasons the best possible matchups. And don't get me wrong. I think it's a great idea. I do like it. But i feel like the acc in the pac twelve needed way. More than the big ten does. If i'm the big ten you know forget this like spite toward brig sankey and whatnot. You're the big ten year you your you make as much money if not more than the sec. You're not the ou texas things not threat to you in any way play them. I want more penn state auburn. I don't want more penn state. Virginia penn state utah. Or whatever you know games. They're going to sleep. Is part of this thing. I agree i agree. It was like it just felt like a big game. Look you're gonna get some of those ups that we're not gonna care about you're not going to care about northwestern vandy for instance and you're gonna care about it but no one else is like there are. It's when it's when it's big on big that we care about big stadium big venue just bigger rankings on big on big in the alliance when it's high if it's gonna be ohio state playing oregon or clemson or i don't know florida state ever figures itself out. We'll get the right but the difference with the sec There's nine or ten teams that you could put on the schedule. And there and the penn state fans or the ohio state fans are frankly any big ten fans are gonna be like. That's a big game. We want prove ourselves against auburn against arkansas. Against ole miss and certainly alabama lsu florida. So i'm not saying. You should necessarily kevin warren get out of your non contract with those other two conferences necessarily but i just i feel like they might be boxing themselves in an frankly settling a little bit. I know that it wants. You can't extrapolate too much from one season with the acc and the pac twelve have terrible this year with one exception obviously oregon over our house may be the best non-conference victory. Anybody has all season but just yesterday we watched colorado lose thirty two nothing to minnesota. We watched utah. Lose to san diego states we watched arizona where arizona. They're so bad lose to northern arizona and then the most you know the most The toughest one for the pac twelve. You know you're already kind of looking at only two teams organ. Ucla to carry the banner for ucla loses a thriller to fresno state behind one of the all time great quarterback performances from jake hainer at fresno state so back close down to one undefeated team in the acc down to two in those two are. Wake forest nbc. That's pretty the that sounds pretty bleak. Love is somebody three undefeated. They're gonna fall. Keep falling and everything like that Shallow to jake hainer. I mean if you didn't get a chance to see the game because you don't have packed all network pretty much everybody but You like. I've never seen a player looks so in agony as he did The the one touchdown pass. He threw a didn't like that had to be a late hit because nobody was near him when he released the ball. And then you realize the play before he got he got really hit by two guys and Avocado kind of drilled him in the in the ribs or like you know. It looked like he was wincing from that. The rest of the game and total agony and i thought Our friend you'll roth. I thought did a very good job of telling jake hainer story and working in into the broadcast and you really is interesting. Kid like the moms like a big.

"Even more some unexcited really interested to see how how that unfolds. Your hand the sec. That's hard to believe. I know you wrote a book about it even early on as they were entering the sec. Give me an idea your favorite place to go. Maybe just the setting the stadium or the town. Or what do you have a favorite spot. You can't beat athens georgia. It's it's just the campus. The town the restaurants the scene and then just a game day atmosphere i think is maybe the best i've ever been to a been dallas. You've been alabama been everywhere this point but that place just does it for me every time. It's it's a really special magical setting away. They do game. Day is really cool. There alabama's great to You know i was there a couple of years ago homecoming so the whole friggin state was there. It seemed like it was just quite an atmosphere really was but but i think georgia's takes the cake for mass by my favorite trick. Dave will be here. And you'll lot this season cates. Your us tell us about it. Obviously the home from mizzou make sense. You should be on that station. Yeah i'll be a regular guest on allowance shows You're not just not just brennan. In ben fred in the evenings or show but at during the day to raw and all over the place. I'm really looking forward to. It's great opportunity humble excited about it. It's kinda nice from zoo to have settled their and granted i. I've worked there before. I worked there again like everybody radio. We've been there have been back but they've been able to stay there. Which is nice. Because i think from mizzou fanzine you grow up at saint louis right there on kmox for a while then. They weren't kind of nice. they've got home. it's maintain. yeah some real consistency gives you the fans. I still get asking Channels a game on it for tv but when you know where it is on the radio. That's great dave. Thanks for checking it as always. It's never boring at mizzou. You probably hit a million kids games or your wife or going to dinner and like oh my god so and so just got fired so and so just quit like debts probably happened a million times or wives like let me guess something at work. I was I was actually putting together the hsien in our backyard the day that missouri was getting ready to hire the eighties that shed has not been completed yet. "Gentleman. I have picked the brain of many times. Jay romano pro. Better here in las vegas good to be with you. Thanks for having me all right well. We finally broke the seal. Got you on the pod. And i think it's a perfect situation. Do college win. Totals because the board has been hit pretty hard. But there's still a lot of opportunities out there and we're we're obviously. The calendars turned to mid august. We are ready to go Football season's right around the corner. So i know there's a lot of plays you like a little bit off the grid but i want to start the marquee ones and it's the one that's my favorite of a mall and i've talked about it a few times on daily wager. I believe i've even mentioned it here on the podcast but i am very very big on auburn under seven now the juices move some shops or six and a half. If you want to go six plus money that's fine. It's just so tough when you get the push at seven so i prefer the seven with the juice and it all comes down to the schedule. Not the only reason but the schedules really really difficult. And you've got bama. You got an got georgia. I don't think there's any chance auburn win those games. I know rivalry game and war eagle and all that stuff with the with the iron bowl but it's just auburn is rebuilding. And they have a new coach bryan. Hartson coming in from boise. State and bonex is just not materialize into the quarterback that everyone thought he would be. Maybe a new oc. Mike bobo will unlock. I'll just kind of have to see it to believe it. So in addition to obama. Georgia am there at lsu. They have all miss at home. You know at arkansas. And then there's there's this tough spots here and it's a team that's going to be lacking on offense defense. They're calling card. So i think i don't see how they go eight and four to lose this play. Well i i would definitely recommend Playing the seven laying the juice in this situation. I almost always gonna lay the juice versus taking maybe plus one ten plus one twenty on the under. It's definitely worth the extra half a game. I'm actually high on auburn this year. However i completely agree with you. The schedule is brutal. There's just no breeders for them. I think bonex. Could you know have an improvement. This year they can play well. It's just there's just not enough wings on the schedule. It really looks like they're ceiling is seven. It's just you know when you like. You said when you go to texas. Am have to play alabama lsu home against georgia. And then at penn state week three. It's just you forgot about the penn state game. I'm glad you mentioned that. Cause at the white out game in happy valley. yeah. And i'm looking headlines there between four and a half and seven and a half point underdogs So they can exceed expectations and still not go over this win total. Yeah no. it's a lot to ask. It's certainly a lot to ask but you're so you're high on wsb. Maybe as a dog and a lot of spots throughout the season. So i know you have some places. Well but notre dame under nine talk about not soft spots on the schedule that that's certainly stands out where you'll get the irish yet. The with them again is scheduled schedule. Schedule you know. I know there are top ten ranked team coming into the season but it is just absolutely unforgiving. Weakened weak outs starting at florida state where they opened about ten and a half eleven point favorites. It's down to seven and a half eight. That's not gonna be an easy task. Going into dough campbell on a standalone game in a national televised audience. Week one with a new quarterback Jet cohn was name started earlier this week. With up and down. Wisconsin played well and times. But we'll we'll have to see how he jumped there Notre dame is starting four new offensive lineman. They returned to starters on offense. It's it's a little early in the season For that type of test. So not only would. I looked afford a states Plus the points week one just a little bonus pick right there but the under nine for the season feels like a pretty safe option

"And we are back and second week in row look walks in tornado warning and as soon as everybody got distracted. I snuck in with the fedex. Glad you did match. Cinch come with us and mad so much talk about. The poll came out yesterday. Final poll before the season and most of the usual suspects in you know we hear from am fans and they're disappointed. Detect say is ranked sixth. I want to get your thoughts on. Were you disappointed carson. They've they should be higher because last year. They nearly made the playoffs. Finishing fourth in the final paul. Okay we'll bring all last year's players back and then we'll just pretend like that even matters anymore right. That's the thing and i like. I think they're very good football team. They absolutely have a fantastic season. Could be the biggest question mark for that football team. And i know that coach fisher has stated numerous times. They feel very good about the quarterback position outside of college station right now. Does anybody know a whole lot about what they have a quarterback i. It's one of those things where you're replacing four faces up front. You ran the football very very effectively last year. It took a couple of years for callan. Mind to kinda around into form. And i think even infants would allow. He never did become this quarterback that they had envisioned maybe they got mansfeld into delusion but you replace those four guys up front. You got tons of talented running back. You could have weapons out wide. Your defense should be really really good. But what about the guys at the ball on his hands all the time and in this offense. I just think it's fascinating that it's that big of a black box coming into the season and yet hey number six in the country. Of course we got number one in the country in alabama and shown probably very good quarterback but he hadn't done much in college. I mean this is a high school all stars so all this stuff is highly speculative but aim is one that i think we might be overvaluing them based on what they did last year last year. Teams not available this year. The coaches of the first ones to point that out. So what what of the players that you know on offense and defense what. How would you evaluate this team right now. Well i will say that. So running back position may be one of the strongest running back rooms. In the country i think wide receiver could ultimately be one of those and if we lump in tied in the tight end position with jaylen wider meyer. Who i think he's not pits but he is a weapon at tight end. That's a distinct separate and apart from most of the others will see in the country this year. So we'll include that in the passing game offense of line to me. It's hard to replace four guys. I don't care how good the four guys are. that are that are stepping in now. You just haven't played together yet. So offensively you gotta have question marks and i do defensively along the defense of front. They've got guys that can change the game. There's no doubt we all marvin being one of those guys. You know linebacker kind of a question. Mark secondary may be one of the strongest in the country. So you can look at this team and piece together say wow. It looks pretty good. I didn't talk about quarterback. I mean that's the thing that you have to know that in this in an office of game right. We're not winning games with defense anymore. Champions do eventually got to stop somebody. And they're gonna have a great defense. Georgia had a pretty good defense last year. They are question marks a quarterback in undid their season and it can easily happen again free now and we'll talk about. Am schedule in a second because sometimes that does play a role especially Who you play early on. They they have a secondly game against a believe it's colorado and then the usual suspects The game that everyone's talking about is right smack in the middle of the season against alabama lsu. At the end of the year. Where i want to go next sure. Lsu might rank very high. Yeah and i think i get it in that. You've completely overhauled your coaching staff right. So you've got these guys where new faces and you're kinda plucking fruit from the joe brady tree and trying to see can kind of go back to where they are as you look at aggies schedule and as you pointed out we to versus colorado. Everybody's pointed october ninth with alabama. But as you mentioned at the end of the year we know crazy. Stuff happens versus. Lsu this time will be of course on the road baton rouge and lsu when you look at their first eleven games. They're going to be favored ten of them. So you look at that one game of course game being alabama and so what happens versus alabama but by then. What does that team look like. Because no one's going to argue. I think that the that they lack talent. That running back room should be much better this year. Replacing clyde edwards allaire a season ago proved to never really get going. John emerald probably one of his better better years are counting on him to have one of his better years. Offense front should be better left. Tackle someone's got to step up with the rosenthal k. Transferring to kentucky but no one. What you've got max johnson at the very least you know that he's going to be your guy better protected there. Keep him healthy. There's no doubt defense. They should be much better linebacker which was a question. Mark a season ago maybe a position of strength certainly a position of death potentially defensive line. You got a guy like oh gilardi who can been the edge one of the better pass. Rushers should be this season and the secondary what lsu always puts out there in the secondary. It's all kinds of their now. Does it come together. That's the real question. Mark last year has to have been one of the largest anomaly. Not just because a cova but when you look at lsu he knew they were going to retreat on offense they had to. There's too many guys went pro and it was just such a ridiculous output that they have on that side of the ball but defensively. Nobody anticipated that they would have been on that side of the football with a number of skill players. I mean they return so many Players which is important. So let's do the comparison test the game is at baton rouge with am Are you suggesting that she could beat the no that. Lsu may lsu will finish ahead of the us. I think they. I think they will at the end of the season. I i think that if this if this season breaks the way it can. We talked about this yesterday. This opener versus ucla. You'd kind of thing. Pac twelve game on the road in pasadena to start seasons like this especially coming off the type of year that everybody had a season ago. That's just tricky. That's a tricky thing. It's time zone thing. It's a travel thing all the stuff. And of course you've got new coaches that are just now calling games for the first time together. You know. I don't know that they lose that game. I don't think they do. I'm just saying if they don't play well versus ucla. Maybe this thing breaks the other direction and they kind of stumbled their way through the first half of the season and by then you've lost crucial time but if it starts out well and they're able to come away from ucla not only with a window with confidence that i think lsu if things can pull together the way we've seen it pulled together before at lsu and under oath iran they absolutely could finish ahead of had a couple of years ago their in their big year they had that big win against texas which helped propel them and whether it happens. I want to stay in the west because only getting love. Mississippi state getting hope what aboard about almost the story is going to be on that defensive side of the ball but we also have to point that you know losing allies more as good as he has always just one guy at wide receiver. Well we've seen lane kiffin offenses before where he'll pick a guy who could be that production. The amari cooper type where you know what you're just gonna be it and you're gonna have ridiculous numbers and i'm good enough of play caller and i can design things i've got a trigger man and matt corral. Why can get the ball to you. And i'll do it over and over and over and over again. And he's no longer there so who emerges they have opportunities there they have guys that could be that the sanders kids at the drum kit. We don't know but there's bodies out there that could be that you move john rice plummeting to the slide..

"Bowl but As what what is the store could kill it. I've got a yes. Yes yes exactly But you know the the state. Institutionally speaking is still standing They actually export a great deal of beef and veal. They'll have i think a very well-fed army also a lot of international relationships to general the governor of oklahoma The other week various Things are going on in the state of oklahoma cova college. Football realignment two similar things of that nature. He was actually in azerbaijan. Fostering closer relationships with their oil partners over there Look i mean you go to obser- bijon. I mean you're getting council all kinds of things that could be useful in war if you're working at a high enough government and industrial level I don't think he was talking to dissidence now. I think he was talking. More to the anti dissidence the people the dissidents are dissenting against and dissenting dissenting against. And i think that oklahoma's gonna play pretty rough when it comes time to war with the rest of this pod need a their whole team name. Fuck rules so yeah. Absolutely also to that point The schooner is actually a very valuable transportation mechanism. This economy one. It's upright auto shows if it crashes. No one's dying can't say that about the kinds of rockets jackson and are going to have in this thing And also it's not subject to hacking because there's no electricity in the and you can you can float it across. The rice field was absolutely hawk. Scooter and alex. Glad you got this. Because i've always said bawku as the tulsa of the caspian sea. That's what people say more and more you hear this. Additionally i think that oklahoma will survive a lot longer because they'll eat fish that they catch the rivers with their hands you can take the polls and they'll still find fish is nude lers. Yeah very good all right. That is a that is an excellent where they champ Now we have. Lsu has claimed the the the deep mid south oklahoma has claimed the planes auburn controls. The mid the the deep south. And i believe this takes us to to the highlands to finish off this this inaugural four four battle sprint through history. Holly sometimes the snow comes down in june and sometimes i get kentucky tennessee vanderbilt an missouri. Okay surprising absolutely no. One missouri is immediately out of this game. How they get. There is the surprise at tennessee. In a rare bid for unification manages to assemble a fighting force combined of the mountain people to the east the panera bread horse girls of middle tennessee and memphis. And there's nothing else in tennessee and if anybody else tells you tell them to get off your land. The absolute first thing that this group does is barricades build barricades along the mississippi river. Just walling misery off from the entire rest of the board all along all of its controlled border with misery. Now some people might say. Is this because we still bear a long simmering resentment against missouri swanning into the conference acting like they were going to be our kickabout little brother and then winning a pair of division championships and to those people. I say. mind your own business. Austin ian though. Didn't look vhs. Porn is not enough to unite culture by itself. Missouri has to have some other redeeming quality and to date that has not revealed itself so a barbecue rib fence goes up all along the tennessee missouri border and mizzou. If y'all wanna participate and ship it can just float on down to arkansas for for all we care so mizzou right out now. This is where she gets. Tricky vanderbilt and tennessee have both been caught up in this alliance. They they have. They have agreed to bury the hatchets vanderbilt. People don't have hatchets but tennessee buried two for each of them and we are preceding as one unified state however vanderbilt in a move surprising actually everyone somehow turns around and shanks tennessee over the placement of the new amazon headquarters. They do not want to share revenue with east tennessee and they choose they choose corporate interest over statewide pride and immediately turn. That doesn't sound like nashville at all. They immediately immediately. Turn and attempt to construct a barricade to wall off tennessee having buried their hatchets. Nobody said anything about their knives and tennessee. East tennessee turns back onto middle tennessee memphis. Meanwhile is just chilling at the barricade in lounge chairs and having a final time. They're on guard duty with missouri. But it does take them out of this fight. West tennessee is out of fight. Eastern middle tennessee are battling one another over. And i don't really know what the deal is because it's not like they're going to tax amazon anyway But they're fighting each other Tooth and knife over amazon's headquarters and while this is happening you may notice that we haven't heard from a fourth party who is very close at ham. Kentucky's just been hanging out in the hills this entire time. Forging trade deals on the side With ohio to the north and kentucky waits until the last possible moment when tennessee and vanderbilt are both still fairly well matched but depleted on both sides kentucky swoops in and takes control of the entire state boom lying in wait the entire time. Yes plotting scheming strategizing hennessy. Only has one end of a state that's devoted to heal people chicanery. Have you ever noticed that. Even in the flatter parts of kentucky. You still can't see very far. Those rolling hills can hide a number of troops. It's all blind. it's all blind corners. Those law yet those long low sloping ridge lines. They can hide a lot of they can hide a lot of personnel so yes kentucky swoops in after waiting out the after sitting out the entire battle in their glorious mountain homes kentucky swoops in and puts everybody else in the drink. This is very on brand because kentucky wins from distance at the end. Very basketball ending right kentucky way downtown. This concludes the upper midwest dish portion of the pots excellent. We now have our let us assess are pods at this point all right because the the battle is only We know who is strongest each pod. We have of course. Lsu's intergalactic empire of alabama lsu mississippi state and ole miss not a lot of resources here. I'm going to be honest. i have assessed. Each of these states. Universities areas by population military base personnel air force base is food production. Things of this nature and this part is going to struggle. But they were the i pod into almost space. They have that going for them. Oklahoma of course is reforming the southwest conference with arkansas texas. And am that group will get along awesome. Huge huge numbers of people I think they produced enough food to feed themselves lots. And lots of airbases and air national guard bases a lot of coastline. That's going to be difficult to defend. They have a couple of naval bases. But i don't know if they have quite enough a lot of soldiers though. I'm sure they'll be fine Especially because they have such coherence and camaraderie they Holy auburn empire includes florida georgia and south carolina biggest population on the board arguably the biggest army on the board biggest number of air a basis on the board and an overwhelming advantage at sea between primarily florida and south carolina. Huge numbers of boats are going to take over the gulf of mexico the jet skis they have the submarines they have all of it in south carolina of course as ninety percent of the marines on the entire math south carolina naval win south carolina. Has something going for it. When do we get to say that and kentucky c..

"We've yet to talk about perhaps because we were following the if and the win but now that it looks like these teams will join the sec. What what is the likelihood that they can come in and compete with these guys right away. I was thinking compete. But can they be successful in the sec. Right away while. I think they could be successful. It's how we define competing. Are we looking at. Oklahoma was still being a twelve hundred team. Eleven one team. I think that remains to be seen. All you gotta do is look at texas a and m here and you realize okay. Well wait a minute texas. A and m. has sniffed atlanta. What one time. Since they've been in the league so you look at texas and you say okay well. Texas a and m. is further along right now than texas is. Maybe it's going to be a tough row to hoe with oklahoma though. I think here's the question. They're not going to go into every game. Harry like they did in the big twelve with distinct personnel advantages across the board distinct depth advantages across the board. And i think. That's what steve spurrier was referring to. Its you're going to have to have the bodies to run the gauntlet. For a battle of attrition. For fifteen weeks yet tom. I think that's the interesting thing here. Because both of these schools are still bringing in talent obviously with texas. They've had a lot of trouble kind of developing that talent over the years. That's not going to stick in the sec. And then as far as oklahoma goes. Obviously they've been a call. Sheila playoff contender every year. But i think the one thing that's going to be really different for texas. And oklahoma is you don't have those bottom feeder games that are going to be the insane blowouts right like obviously the bottom of the big twelve is a much easier ride than even the bottom of the. Sec is arkansas vanderbilt. They can keep you in a game for half or three quarters. Like i think that's going to be a big difference here and i think that it's perhaps going to be a little bit more tougher texas than it is for oklahoma but i do think to your point in recruiting oklahoma's going to have to kind of bridge that gap a little. Bit to kind of ease into the sec. Both of you referenced. It and it's recruiting guys. I mean obviously the lifeblood of collegiate athletic certainly college football luke's on paper. In some instances it would look to benefit schools. I really don't know though in terms of oklahoma and texas a different situation. But how does this affect recruiting. If they win they joined the. I think it's a huge plus for oklahoma if you look at oklahoma why they've improved particularly last year and why they're a big favourite this year. It's because of the improvement on defense. Where within the defensive front seven. Well the sec. It is a front seven league. You've got to have defensive lineman and you gotta have a lot of them. Where do they reside georgia florida. Alabama south carolina louisiana mississippi. So if you're oklahoma you've now opened the doors to cast a much wider net. You've already got a national brand. You've been to the college football playoff. You're gonna walk into that door with some cachet. But you better have success because you're not going to be able to build your roster out of mid western states to compete with an alabama lsu with texas. They might have a slight advantage going forward at least initially harry. Because steve sarkisian is fresh off of an sec run. He knows exactly what he's getting into. They know exactly what they have to have roster wise to compete or be an alabama georgia and lsu in auburn each and every year to have a chance to go to atlanta yet. Tom and you know one other thing too. That i think that perhaps lot of casual college football fans get upset about or annoyed hearing. Is that the talent in the. Sec is just that much different. And i think a lot of people probably hear what you say. And they're like what are you talking about. Oklahoma especially with oklahoma. Is that if they're at the top of the standings every year like is the the talent gap really that different and. I think that the things that you're talking about could really show up here these first couple of years because it is that different into shows itself on the field and in the results. And i think that it's going to be kind of interesting here to see how that shapes up especially in this first year that both teams are going to be in the sec. Whenever that it does come well whenever that is the question. The plan is twenty twenty-five but then you have to wonder how long these schools can coexist exist knowing they. They are going to go. We'll see and then the other thing. I mentioned at the top of the show. What happens to the other eight school. Not everybody's going right. You still got a big twelve at least right now. In those schools have to decide of course whether the status quo will work and they can be viable or there have to shift gears interesting comments. If you read between the lines here on twitter. And we'll start with what kansas had to say and i show you this because it's almost like they're campaigning. A little bit. It says. Kansas said what the future holds for the jayhawks in both lawrenson kansas city. The tweet also mentions a new airport terminal looks to be ready by.

"Give them a call. Eight hundred eight four four forty eight eighty eight again. That's eight hundred eight. Four four forty eight eighty eight. Let's get to pop culture. Tuesday this is when we look at the intersection. Between pop culture an conservatism and one of the most shocking sports stories in recent memory transpired last week. Because there wasn't even an inkling of it. It just flat out just people were blindsided out of nowhere. And this is the news. The texas and oklahoma are leaving their conference the big twelve and heading to the southeastern conference now. Texas is the number one revenue generating athletic department in the country. And oklahoma i believe is eighth or ninth so neither one of these programs university athletic apartments are wonder whether next meal is coming from. They're they're doing okay. They're doing pretty good okay. They also were in a league that they completely dominated. They could do anything they want. The league would any rule it would let texas have its own television at work on top of it at the the. The conference doesn't have a television at work but gave texas its own. I mean they let these two teams because they knew how vital they were have. Anything they wanted it still didn't matter and those con- those two teams ejected on them now to join Southeastern conference that was already a behemoth with names like alabama lsu and tech. Say an but now even more so. I want to discuss this for a few minutes for pop. Culture tuesday not from the sports angle. Because this these teams. I don't think it'll be till twenty twenty-five that's when the contract ends my guess is they'll figure a way to start at sooner than that but we don't it could be not for another four seasons before we ever see those league teams in that league instead. I think there's a broader worldview conversation to be had here. And i think this story indicates that the american worldview has collapsed like entirely like every like every side of the cultural divide. It's just collapsed. Michael knowles and i were just kind of having a similar conversation. You know that the idea of have no standards a lot of people in the right. That's what they want to say. Are we hate the left standards. let's have none. Well okay. they're still gonna do. There's so they're gonna still impose on you but then you have none. I mean that doesn't work right. What happened here is. Left-wing utopian institutions awash drenched in progressivism the longtime head of oklahoma university. A former democrat. Senator david boren who passed away recently. Texas austin is considered almost its own community within the state of texas. These progressive left wing institutions. Just taught us again that human nature is not basically good which is essentially their cardinal mantra. That's the number. One assessment of their their worldview begins at human nature is basically good. That's how utopia is achievable over the last Couple of years. The commissioners of the big twelve in the southeastern conference had been working together on a new college. Football playoff format and the commissioner of the sec. Knew all along for at least for the last six months anyway that they were working on bringing in texas and oklahoma and rating their conference and taking them away and not a word was set texas and oklahoma provided. Really no heads up. They had big twelve media days last week and just blindsided all of these partners. Blindsided them all. Why it's to make more money. I mean it's a lot more money. Yeah but it's a little bit like how many more jobs does texas need to import before you. Just turn the state blue because you brought so many blue state voters into your state. And so they're the last three points that badoe needs to beat ted cruz next time right. I mean yeah it is more money but you're texas pretty wealthy now right. Yeah so. I guess you just make it wealthier that you get a democratic governor and it won't be matthew mcconaughey it'll be a real democrat. I mean how much more money do you need. When is enough enough. Human nature doesn't ask itself. Those kinds of questions on its own. Human nature is unbridled. I go from. I guess to go from i because you went for yours and so you saw. Left-wing progressive academia their worldview collapsed on an institutional level just to pursue more money. Nothing more craven than that. But the world the on the right traditionalism heritage legacy it collapsed to. Hey megan more money's more important oklahoma just left. It's fellow member institution. Oklahoma state on the side of the road route. Five thousand g again. These were already top. Ten money earners. These aren't these are folks escape in honduras to come to america. They just did this for a couple more pieces of share price. Why texas has averaged seven wins a year this decade. Don't tell me about winning the national championship. Texas can't beat iowa state right now. You're you're they'll be the fifth sixth seventh eighth best program in the sec. Tomorrow no no. This is just about craven money and so tradition heritage legacy gone out. The window doesn't matter. There's no standard like many on the right one at that way nowadays no standards. We just oppose their standard. And then i can do whatever i want that actually feeds the instinct of what we are up against and so what we learned from is from progressive academia. Human nature is not basically good. We cannot put a check and balance on our own craven desires and instincts but we will follow them all the way to the end. And here's what the end could look like. It's on the table that you're looking at right now. There's one hundred and thirty. That offer full ride scholarships to eighty five players peace. Let's let's get rid of sixty of those schools.

"For some saliva ourselves each the morning show with boomer esiason and greg naughty boomer and geo this name image likeness. Yeah you love this. i love it because it. It's creating a firestorm activity and nobody knows where it's gonna end. Nobody knows what ultimately is the end game for the athletes here and all this other stuff but then i was thinking about a couple of kids that have already given up their high school careers to go pro at the age of sixteen. Yeah i in basketball to a one of them's definitely do it ambassador basketball jalen louis. But how. how much is arch manning. Going to be worth you know. He's in high school now. Obviously the name speaks for itself. Yeah supposedly by all accounts anybody that has seen shung man play. He's the best in the family at this age. That's frightening when you think about. It is frightening but it's also exciting. Sure i mean he's the one guy that well maybe not the one but one of the very few that just by his last name when he shows up the college is marketable just by his last name. So you add that to whatever school. He goes to the fact that he's a quarterback. I mean it's going to be insane. Yeah you know nick. Sabin came out this week or last week. Basically said that his quarterback price young has already secured close to seven figures in endorsement deals. I mean and he hasn't even thinking snap yet. And i think nick sabin is probably wondering because of bryce young's brand or is it because of alabama's brand will the best players go to alabama right so if you're bryce young and you're making a million dollars or million half dollars in these no endorsements yeah. What is your left tackle getting. I'm not i'm not sure i almost. It's almost like at least the left. Tackle in football is making eighteen. And nineteen million vala quarterbacks making forty million. And you think that's going to cause problems i i don't know that's that's the thing i have no idea. I can't predict the future. I can't well those. Let's say if you're a starter for alabama you can make money. I think i think if you're started for ohio state yeah yard. About how about texas going into the sec. Now i know with oklahoma. I know and that's one hundred percent happening. Seems like it seems like it's it's trending. Now i mean what are these other like the so the big twelve when they lose their big two teams like that would you while they're going to have to fill in with other teams and you know and i don't know which teams would be next on the list or did they go into some other conference. They joined the pac twelve or they go into the big ten. Now who knows. That's the biggest career realignment situation. We've seen as the two biggest teams in the big twelve joining the biggest football club. The amazing thing to me is that texas has its own television network. Yeah and it basically has an endless support program. i mean it's just and they haven't even been any good. Yes apparently many good which is amazing because of all the different things that they have going on there plus you know they have history there. They have all sorts of boosters and money and they'll buy out contracts of of coaches that they're not happy with. Yeah i mean it's amazing. It's an amazing school. And it has all the facilities that you would want to recruit to. Plus it has the history and has sold out stadiums. Charlie strong gone tom. Herman gone now. It's going to be sarkissian. And we'll see if he's got a shot there. But i mean even shock smart with the basketball team. He's now left. I mean it's just a weird place doesn't seem like they can get get it together with even with all the money and the resources that they. I know that alabama lsu obviously ohio state michigan all these schools. Have you know incredible support. But i don't necessarily know that there's a school out there that receives more support than texas. Yeah i think that's fair but it'd be the why of they've been so mediocre is really the question bad coaching. Yeah i bad yeah bad hiring. It was interesting. When i was interviewing mack. Brown who is now the head coach north carolina. He's back for a second run or yeah carolina before he you know he he was at a texas won a national championship there but he was saying that they were trying to do group licensing authorisation. So all the players could benefit from name image and likeness. Now that's not what this is all about about individual freedom and rights to sell yourself and that's what the supreme court basically voted nine nothing on and now there really is no governing body covering anybody and if oklahoma and texas go to the sec. As i said this morning they're going to be worth more than the the sec. We'll be worth more than the. Ncaa has a whole. And what are they gonna just break down. The conference structures to begin with is a really even a point anymore. Like you could but you have to have all the schools or whatever schools if you join the sec you all going to fall into line to what the sec says. They're not listening to what the ncaa says. Every there's there's no coverage is not. There's no one governing body yours whole thing anymore. of course it's a broken system. Yeah it's completely broken system. And then the conferences and the university presidents are finally getting what they've wanted for so many years which is to be free of the nc double a. Bullcrap while so now. It's very unlikely that you go see any schools receiving any of penalties. I don't see anybody. Being you know having a ballgame taken away from you or scholarships taken away this is gonna be unfettered freedom and it's going to be it's going to be craziness. Yeah own what who who is enforcing the rules. Other than the sec. Themselves and they're not gonna listen to these at the ncaa right. And they're also not gonna penalize their best teams because that is controversy and negativity which affects your bottom line as so. There's no you know there's the there's the ncaa there's fee. They're all corrupt. They're all ms There are a lot of people that making a lot of money on the backs of other people. And that's what this is all about sure. Well i'm happy to see the ncwa go down now. The other two were too strong like fifa and the. I seemed to be corrupt to strong. I mean the fact that they actually even have russian athletes in the olympics. Went down and soci- are you kidding me. It's insanity yeah we'll find out what happens with simone biles. I think it's such a joke. That nbc is doing like just a little bit of reporting what's going on to save everything for time tonight. I mean come on. I would bet that we'll get more and more as the day goes on to simply because that's the way this thing works for all right each morning show with boomer esiason greg giannotti boomerang go..

"That only blitzed at the hundred and sixteenth highs clip and didn't play gobs of of cover one impress. So if you're not being aggressive defensively you can't give up chunks but you combine all that production and talent and the schedule am has a chance to be a top five defense. That's their legitimate ceiling. Defensively the season the aggies play two offenses projected in our top fifty inefficiency alabama lsu. The ten other opponents were projected have an average offensive efficiency rank of eightieth. So when you look at them. I'm like the defense is great. The offense has been questions. But it is jimbo fisher. I would. Ideally like to fading him. But i keep coming back to the schedule. It's tough to do when you look at it. Top to bottom. There's really only one game you're projected the lose. There's another coin flip and it's lsu and you're saying to yourself was last year's of luke ferrall issue or are they trending downwards in there's just a mess internally and if it's the latter suddenly you're second tough game which is just a coin flip might not be all that tough so it'll be interesting to gauge that because there isn't a ton of competition on the schedule talk no and that's what makes it real challenging so i think when you look at a and m. It's a team that you're going to assess week to week more so than make blanca generalizations going into the season. We probably won't see them get tested until they start with their sec. Opener against arkansas arlington. And i'm not even sure on paper. How difficult that game will ultimately end up looking. But for texas am to the florida gators pain. And when you look at you. This season. Eighteen to one to win the sec. Five to one to win the sports sportsbook and their win. Total sits at nine..

"Go to deciding <Speech_Music_Male> between texas <Speech_Music_Male> and and choosing. <Speech_Music_Male> And i get <Speech_Music_Male> a chance to go. Play in <Speech_Music_Male> the sec. <Speech_Music_Male> With the best against <Speech_Music_Male> the best for lack of better <Speech_Music_Male> terms are pretty much playing <Speech_Music_Male> in the nfl me <Speech_Music_Male> and the national championship game <Speech_Music_Male> against alabama <Speech_Male> in the sec <Speech_Music_Male> would alabama <Speech_Male> started their run so <Speech_Music_Male> recruiting and help recruiting <Speech_Music_Male> as well. <Speech_Music_Male> But i'm just sitting here saying <Speech_Male> okay. Why would texas <Speech_Male> wanna leave. <Speech_Male> The only reason <Speech_Male> that comes to my mind <Silence> <SpeakerChange> is money. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Money is pretty much. The <Speech_Male> only reason any of these <Speech_Male> things happen <Speech_Male> boettger. Let me come to <Speech_Male> you again. And <Speech_Male> for those who don't remember <Speech_Male> not only <Speech_Male> played in the sec <Speech_Male> but a huge part <Speech_Male> of the sec network <Speech_Male> for many many years. <Speech_Male> So you know the end <Speech_Male> to this as well as anybody. <Silence> What do you think of. It <Silence> <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> will <Speech_Male> smile and <Speech_Male> laugh because all mighty <Speech_Male> texas is reaching <Speech_Male> out to the sec. <Speech_Male> Saying we need you <Speech_Male> want you and <Speech_Male> there's something about that that <Speech_Male> just makes me <Speech_Male> warm and fuzzy inside <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> alums out there who always <Speech_Male> talks. There's everything <Speech_Male> is bigger in texas. <Speech_Male> Well guess what <Speech_Male> you need to southeastern <Speech_Male> conference now. Let's <Speech_Male> look at the bigger picture. <Speech_Male> I think everyone <Speech_Male> as far as heather. <Speech_Male> Heather <Speech_Male> and paul and <Speech_Male> sam have made some great <Speech_Male> points. But let's take <Speech_Music_Male> it out. Macro <Speech_Male> i think eventually <Speech_Male> the ncwa <Speech_Male> is going to be no more. <Speech_Male> You're going to have three <Speech_Male> to four super <Speech_Male> conferences and <Speech_Male> think texas and oklahoma <Speech_Male> is just trying to find <Speech_Male> a place where they fit in <Speech_Male> at one point. <Speech_Male> In time. Several years ago <Speech_Male> they thought it was the pac <Speech_Male> twelve. Now it's <Speech_Male> the i think <Speech_Male> the. Sec fits better. <Speech_Male> But i think <Speech_Male> this a chance <Speech_Male> that i <Speech_Male> think people are looking at the <Speech_Male> landscape of college. Athletics <Speech_Male> particularly <Speech_Music_Male> college football that <Speech_Male> runs college athletics. <Speech_Male> And they're saying okay <Speech_Male> when we finally <Speech_Male> do away <Speech_Male> with the nc double <Speech_Male> eight. How are we <Speech_Male> going to stack up. How <Speech_Male> are we gonna make sure <Speech_Male> that we are as <Speech_Male> powerful as we can <Speech_Male> be. We got to <Speech_Male> join together. I <Speech_Male> think the pac twelve eventually <Speech_Male> is going <Speech_Male> to disseminate. And <Speech_Male> i think you're gonna wind <Speech_Male> up with these huge <Speech_Male> super conferences <Speech_Male> in my only <Speech_Male> question is at <Speech_Male> what point is <Speech_Male> paul gonna <Speech_Male> do a <Speech_Male> town hall with mark <Speech_Male> and say mark. <Speech_Male> Can you really <Speech_Male> tell us what you <Speech_Male> did during your tenure <Speech_Male> and not <Speech_Music_Male> that you longer have <Speech_Male> a job. What's <Speech_Male> gonna wind up happening <Speech_Male> now. I can't wait for <Speech_Male> that day. <SpeakerChange> Because i <Speech_Male> know it's coming paul finebaum <Speech_Male> i <Speech_Male> would <Speech_Male> one quick point. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> You'll <Speech_Male> be a good <Speech_Male> mark is <Speech_Male> under that table. I <Speech_Male> can assure you <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> can't <Speech_Male> get away with <Speech_Male> disrespect in texas <Speech_Male> booger. <Speech_Male> We are still the most <Speech_Male> valuable program <Speech_Male> texas. So the most valuable <Speech_Male> program we with all <Speech_Male> the national championship <Speech_Male> alabama lsu <Speech_Male> from alabama <Speech_Male> because sec really <Speech_Male> is alabama yawn really <Speech_Male> one that okay <Speech_Male> speaking of <Speech_Male> the state of texas <Speech_Male> ninety <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> deng lack. "It's based on doing whatever the defense gives you in that means generally unscripted when it comes to route running. You just have to know the quarterback in rodney receiver have to be on the same page. So that's why it takes so many reps to get good at it. I mean it's like it's like playing up temple basketball like well. Where's the guy going to be. I why i know. Jimmy always likes to flare owner and i know johnny likes to cut to the rim okay. We'll that's that's fine but there aren't a whole lot of set pieces in this. And i thought that the numbers were skewed. A little bit last year early on the expectation. Got way out of whack. When they blew up against lsu and once again bo pollini refuse to get out of his his man defense and they just they. They ran what they ran Leitch will continue to be fascinating. There's no question about that at sec media. He was asked point blank if he thought he would be. The head coach at tennessee. A few years ago this was before pruitt got hired in controversial fans know. The story was complete the buckle and he referred to the situation at tennessee as a coup d'etat and he said so i didn't get there and i didn't get caught in the coup which i guess is good for me like that's how mike leach talks. That's how he thinks the offense is going to be good on I don't know what it's going to be as high powered at sometimes we fall in love with based on single game. Mismatches that happen against either overmach teams or over coordinators like the lsu debacle There hasn't been a feel that this day that they could be consistent especially within the sec. West in running that offense to their liking. I really liked the defense. I liked defensive. Coordinators akron net came from new mexico. Run some of that old school rocky. Long stopped is Less traditional than most people. See in the sec. They've got a lot of good talent back there on the and they've got incredible athletes. I mean it's mississippi state on back to the mullen days like they get dudes in their dick flay from a talent rich area. I just i don't know. The mississippi state has the overall offensive weapons to compete weekend and week out with with the elite teams in this league. You know we've already discussed but an alabama lsu also because they're not happen again this year And then in whatever you think about where they stand where they may end up the fact that they end with the egg. Bill in ole miss which it's always has drama always I think that's i think that's fascinating. But they played really well against slasher they. How on a half one hundred lane. Kiffin program has no defense so that can be one of those games. Where they they reach that total that you think. Rake everything else down and escort ton of points now. It's a great point in. I think you really hit the nail on the head. When you say the offense will not be as dynamic as we think they'll be over we expect because they did have two games where they were shutout offensively alabama also kentucky. We're used to it and spoiled by some of the washington. State mike leach. But let's keep in mind. This team did bogged down at times. They were great. But at times they weren't so just.

"It is von bomb. Show peter burns. Sitting in for paul finebaum always appreciate doing the show for them to fill in some of the holidays and some of the summers. Especially when taylor hicks has the what three and a half minute intro that means the first segment always goes really by by pretty fast. I do appreciate that. Follow me on twitter. At peter burns e. s. p. In more your phone calls coming up eight five. Five to four two paul as the number. That's eight five. Five to four to seventy to eighty five mary. Kay se you and others on hold but hang tight because we're gonna be talking to max olsen the athletic one of my good friends here max before we get into your fantastic article about recruiting teams. That have Over performed and underperformed. I need a little help here. I i'm trying to expand my vacation options like when people go on vacation. Normally you traditionally always go back to places that you've been before so i need one place at max olsen has been and i'm asking all the finebaum Callers this for the rest of the show as well. What's one place you've been that you never thought you'd go and was completely underrated. An over performed as a vacation spot. You know We didn't make a couple years ago. That was great. Have you done that before. I feel like in jamaica. I just needed to perform what. I think it's going to perform like and i have been once and it performed like it was good. We had a great time and Yeah it was. It was solid expected value on jamaica. That's that's the thing. It was a top twenty five recruiting class and it was like texas ranked around twenty fifth. That's basically what jamaica was like when it came down to actual Vacation spots will another one. I did that. I would vote for is. I did the seattle portland combo trip and i. That's a pretty fun one Especially like i think. We took the the train basically from seattle today. Amtrak from seattle to portland and go the right time of year A lot of good food and beer and all that it is gorgeous in that that neck of the woods. I've gone down there out to play bandon dunes. In the first time i went i flew into seattle and drove all the way down the coast in. It's a long dry. But it is gorgeous a threat and say i just spent the weekend in vermont and boston and i and i switched up. Vermont is unbelievable. I'd never knew it was like that. It was like the whole damn state has little postcard where you to just want to go on. Its little knows. It was the cutest thing ever all right. let's get into actual color. Great ball right all right so this article was interesting to me from an sec standpoint. Because i didn't see too many names in the over achieving aspect but there were several that really stood out in underachieving. What why do you think that is. What were those programs. Especially so of all the sec programs in this and looked just in case your listeners. Haven't read it. We're basically just comparing four year performance versus the four year For years of recruiting Twenty seventeen eighteen. That built those rosters over the last four seasons here and there was actually one overachiever. And just by a little bit in the sec. I think you can probably guess it. But it was kentucky and not a huge difference kentucky Basically thirty four. Best recruiting over that for your stretching and Twenty ninth in terms of performance. So kinda about what you expected. That programs honestly done a great job of evaluating talent retaining having identity and all that But yeah a lot of this. You see programs You know alabama lsu am georgia even missouri mississippi state florida auburn all them kind of ended up finishing of this four year period. About where you'd expect in terms of their recruiting rankings kind of right on par with how talented they should be. And then you've got that list of schools and part of it is that somebody has to pass a lose. The game in the sec. And you have programs that have gone through coaching. Changes and stuff like that. But the big underachievers arkansas tennessee. Vanderbilt ole miss and and south carolina. And that's a lot of cases best because they can recruit at a high level and just are not You know not putting together like top twenty five top thirty galaxy now max. How much of that. Mex olson of the athletic joining. Peter burns here on the paul finebaum. Show max. how much of that is what you said earlier of. Hey listen they. They're playing in the sec. There's eight conference games in. You know you're playing against other top ranked opponents or how much of when a recruit is rabin being recruited and all of a sudden they get an offer from an sec school and it commit to an sec school all of a sudden that helps their ranking in a meadow way. Oh i think that's a great point. Yeah obviously certainly like not every school to seek can win eight nine nine games a year right and so that's part of it there's gonna to be underachievers but yeah it's a fair point because of i think overtime the branded the sec. And you're probably right. I think that when kids get a bunch of sec operas. I do think that kind of elevates the perception of them but you know you've got south carolina and mississippi state and arkansas. And ole miss all recruiting kind of top Twenty to thirty level With with kentucky missouri being pretty close. And you know. I think that creates kind of a high expectation for you when obviously it's hard for everybody in the sec. Finished in the top thirty. So yeah these teams have Certainly good enough talent to to be in in some cases more successful than they've been arkansas. Being the best example of that arkansas has a top thirty recruiting program for the past decade. No matter who their coaches then and certainly is. It shouldn't have gotten as as bad as it did. Under chad morrison. That's why you know they were one of the biggest underachievers who can change that. Max as far as an and i. It's not just four new coaches as i talked about at the beginning of this show On the paul. Finebaum show program. Today is the fact that i feel like. There's eight new coaches right because last year kind of felt like a red shirt. You know you know just trying to go through the motions and get the season over with type season for a lot of reasons. So out of i would say the eight coaches that are newer to this conference. Who's going to be the biggest recruiting juggernaut. Good question i think that Like we've seen the upside of south carolina as a recruiting power. I think shane beamer. has the goods to kind of get them back in that right direction. I think we've certainly seen now. It's gonna be hard for ole miss to get back to the levels. We saw under hugh freeze. But i do think wing kit and his staff are capable of luring that trying to talent to oxford. So i do think that they had that potential. Tennessee's i'm just the wild card in all of this because you still don't know you know kind of what what clouds are still hanging over them. And what penalties could come from the end of the the pruitt air there but of those underachievers there. I certainly think that there's an opportunity for them to be a lot more formidable and recruiting and like said i think arkansas has a chance to To to to stay. Really good in recruiting and i think vanderbilt with the staff. They've put together is probably going to do a really smart job of getting there guys there and probably Kind of find that that model that you see from a lot of these programs that have seriously overachieved. And they're recruiting In terms of making great evaluation retaining them and having a real system and identity to to develop those guys around max olsen joined..

"What start off you kind of touched out. In the beginning of the show. Whole slew of postponements cancellations uncertainty across. Ncw in terms of football. It's a we knew it was going to be difficult. We had you know. We've we've got campuses that aren't allowing the students on campus. Like it's et for the postponements and the cats and the cancellations early taking place because there's no buffer there's no buffer for the big time there's no buffer for the mid american conference mid american conference hasn't lost any scheduled games as of yet but For the big tat shoes not have wisconsin play for a couple of weeks. Probably not a big deal Ohio state maryland. The biggest game to lose. But you know it's been brought up if indiana It goes undefeated and doesn't have any games cancel. The higher state has a game or two gansel. Nearly go six at you know you got a six eight. No team Are you going to send indiana to your big ten championship. Game and let ohio state. Roll the dice with the playoff committee. I think that you know could potentially be a big deal. A losing georgia at missouri or postponing that and postponing alabama manila's you. I don't know that that's that big of a deal because we have conference championships by Obviously there's a lot of money that gets lost in these games. Not being played. But in other airing on the side of caution and It'd be difficult for me to sit here and the really hammer down on why. That's not right. I wanted to say that You know we shouldn't be yeah. Proposed federal law seeks to limit skyrocketing salaries of college coaches

"Well anyway. I I call one of your stories. He's just week. We're talking about salaries and congress trying to put a cap on things and you. Did I think a an amazing. I don't know how you doug all this up. A deep dive live into the evolution of coaching salaries. Take us through that process. Yeah I one of the one of the most interesting thing about college. Football is how in twenty twenty I guess in our in our myopic nature point twenty we think that we all have these like little arguments novel discussion Russia. We've been doing this thing for one hundred fifty years at this point in time there are quite a bit of things that just are not new and some of that is complaining about too many bowl games but another one of those things is talking about how coaching salaries are way too high. I mean it's it's it has quite literally almost almost always been like this. I mean Amos Alonzo Stagg at Chicago making six thousand dollars in eighteen eighteen ninety two now I went back and use the consumer price report and price some of these salaries out in you know twenty eighteen at the time buying power. And you know. That's six thousand dollars. Amazon does stag was making then was worth like a hundred and sixty thousand dollars back in eighteen. Ninety two there has always been this separation between what highly paid college. Football coaches made Versus what the Common Man Colombian mix. You know I'll I'll bring it to your audience and hit them home like bear Bryant when he's doing. Brian show that that famous Sunday highlight show That that became formative so formative for a lot of Alabama fans. He wasn't doing that just out of the good report he was because he was getting paid there Bryan getting in pay. That's why I thought he. I thought you said he was a benevolent. So I believe you remember this because you weren't born but he also had to Eat the potato chips and drink cocoa which by the way had bourbon in it. Yes absolutely I mean like bear. Bryant was Bear Bryant was cheering the back right now. Yeah so I find it amazing we we. We had a professor on earlier who who was very much a part of the Donna? Shalala Team Wanting to limit coaching Ching salaries so When did they make the big turn? When did they start going? I mean as as some of the critics say out of control to me. It really doesn't matter what any of these guys make but TAKE A. When was the big turn? I think they really and truly exploded in the nineteen eighties because in the nineteen eighties. That's when that Supreme Court hate happened with like Georgia Oklahoma and you know they got. TV rights You know they divorced the TV rights from the NCAA and schools colleges then became able to go. She ate television rights As entertaining defended themselves. Obviously than we get into the CFO era and BCS. And what we have now where the SEC. Disperse what was it. Six hundred and fifty some odd the million dollars yesterday give or take a few million yeah To all fourteen member schools. I mean look. The bedrock of this cannot be overstated. The bedrock bedrock of this is this when you as an Athletic Department at Florida Alabama at Lsu is Florida state when you do not have to pay your labor force when you do not have to compensate you or athletes. That money has to go somewhere now. That money goes to beyond coaching salaries. I mean that's the facilities race that is everything. Everything that makes these college will programs at opulent as they can be obviously a really really big part of the PIE now. Is Coaching salaries. Now Coaching coaching salaries the early eighties. That's stuff starts to get reported. That's my really really starts coming into Coming into the sport in a way that it had really really before that By the time you get through the mid nineties Florida's paying Steve Spurrier the one of the first billion dollar contracts so that he doesn't jump to the NFL at that time honestly the NFL itself explodes. You've got that competition. So it's it's the competition that that spurs in any industry the street Salaries and money and will lose those things but the early eighties. I think is where we can really pinpoint when college athletics kind of started growing up from a from a fiscal standpoint talking to Richard Johnson from a better society in now we all know what is going on. I'm interested where were you. Were you sit on this. Because the the so called Donna. Shalala proposal We heard Professor Ridpath on this would would curtail a lot of things I find find. It somewhat amusing chancellors and presidents at Private Schools More so than public schools making. I'm five six million dollars a year We have an offensive and defensive coordinator is making major seven figure salaries I know is a highly paid journalists. Where we're we're are you on what Shola is is attempting to to do at least down one lane in Congress right. I think you have a good point. the the facilities boom and the salary boom of coaches collect directors and the things that we coach Sports Mirror. That of what we see on the institutional side at a lot of these verses and I think that is one thing thing that really gets lost you know like you said like g Foreign President of like West Virginia. Like these guys make guys and girls make six figures seven figures. There is a lot of money in higher education in the United States at the highest levels. college athletics is it is not an outlander But like studies have shown time and time again going back thirty forty fifty years that when your football all team is good when your basketball team is good It becomes you know they always say that is the front porch of the university. Admissions skyrocket when athletics. Do well and that is. Why a lot of these University of course than anything else I think? Put Up with and we'll pay out the nose for Nick Sabin or Jim Harbaugh or a Davos. We or whatever I think the dirty secret is is the weight from Ro a lot of these endowments in some of these very popular. Schools would shrink a lot more than people wanNA realize. No I mean just look around. I mean boone pickens. She died recently. I mean the the amount of money that he put into Oklahoma state and I don't I don't mean to disparage Oklahoma state in stillwater Oklahoma. Oh my been there. And if you haven't Richard Make sure that you put that on your bucket list. Wouldn't it wouldn't have had that type of money And and a lot of these Jerry Jones. He's given to the University of Arkansas. You can go down the list And I mean and it's because of one thing we're trying to win in in in college football or basketball depending on on on where you live and what part of the country you're in. Yeah absolutely I saw a stew. MANDL's works in the for pretty athletic. He He has a college pat column and somebody asked him Ten million dollars. What would you do with it to build a staff? And I look the question and I was like look man if you WANNA compete with Alabama Lsu Clemson Oklahoma Ohio state. You need more your salary. You Pool has to be bigger than ten million dollars. I mean on on its face. You'RE GONNA have to pay a coach at that level. Five five and a half six six billion dollars. You'RE GONNA have to pay your coordinators eight hundred nine hundred thousand dollars because Dave Aranda was was pulling such a salaried Lsu a few atmosphere necessarily because he was such town defensive coordinator which he is but it was because one opinions coordinator so that the only job job they'll leave for is a G. Five or or power five kids coaching job. It's got bulletproof coordinators. I WANNA lose them. I don't want to take collateral. If they leave me they gotta take step up so okay. You're paying both your coordinators Like one point eight billion dollars between the two. That's like eight million dollars. Just gone to the head coach in coordinators. Now you're in another like five million dollars higher director staff your eight assistant coaches which is all right. That's your ten assistant coaches You want to compete with Georgia Alabama. All right we'll have a party because you have to fill out the rest of those staffs with analysts. We assist tense You know you gotTa have a staff of three saw guys kind of the shadow. Coaching staff that that Alabama kind of those famous or infamous. No matter how how are depending on which by the fence you went on but You know it takes money to keep up with the Joneses and it takes a lot of line really want we national championship. Always great to have you on Richard other than chicken. What's the what's the second most favorite food that you'll be serving the super bowl party Sunday lady a friend is bringing some guacamole? She'll be homemade guacamole. I'm not a big block fan but you know you know how this you gotta try say like it. So that'll that'll it'll be my My side dish. I cannot wait I if I'm in the neighborhood I'll just drop Bil- bring some bring bring a some some fruit cake leftover from Christmas. I couldn't give away Gringa fruitcake. Brings some cold ones man. I'll have seat for you right on the couch next to meatball. Thank you great. Great to talk to you again come back soon. Have you

Interview with Redskins' Landon Collins

"We welcome you back. We are delighted for one more hour in Tuscaloosa. And what a treat to have Landon Collins on grew up in Louisiana people thought he might go to Lsu you and he is here now. Elaine and thank you very much a redskins single by weekend heavier great great to be. I want to go back. I I know this is a story that that's old news to you but it was not easy for a young man in Louisiana to go through. You went through. Come to the University of Alabama. What do you remember about that time? I remember a lot about it. The biggest thing I'm about as my mom picking that lets you to go to but I I continue to choose Alabama. I just wanted to be here. You know the biggest thing I know I remembered it was something that your commitment was. I think on television and And your mom your mom none-too-happy but it it worked out pretty well. I think so. I think it worked out. Very well. she's happy that I'm I'm not in school at Alabama right now. But she's happy that on. I'm still planning that. I love so I'm interested in in in this game from from your perspective because you played in some epic Alabama Lsu Games and now we're back for probably the biggest game since that season Back in eleven and ultimately in twelve remember first of all just reflections on this game from your own is on the field you played when I was playing man I remember the biggest one I played and it was at Lsu. It's hard to win in Death Valley and Was I think it was down. I can't remove is down by but I think. Td Pitch back. That was the twelve game. Yeah he's put his backup to To Tie the game I think it was we went into overtime right. I wasn't take a listen. I'm trying to remember the old time game was a little earlier than that TJ Yeldan play. That's the biggest barrier was in twelve when Ah Bless you had the lead and I think they were they were. They were attempting a field goal. That would have put the game out of reach miserable. Aj McCarron hit yelled Alden screen and That was one of the Big Little Alabama the national championship direct. Big Big play. Big play big play now One of the biggest dreams I wanted to do was beat. Lsu Home Place and we did that so so now that you're in the NFL and Y- so you have to say you keep up with Alabama football but it's not as easy I would think but your assessment of what what you've seen so far it hasn't really been tested The defense doesn't look like defenses that you played for but you have better value. Evaluation is is an idea. What did you see when you watch Alabama they? Offense is a lot of a lot of a lot of power around the AFC guys they do anything. They test the body all over to the house. So that's that's that's the that's the biggest fans they got a guy that could get them. Get them the ball as much as possible. And I'll get into the different receivers the different that would call them all over the field. Oh and then defensively I would say I mean we strong strong we get the job done and we make sure we hold officers not scoring and not getting that. It's the points that they need to get to keep in and in the game but at the same time this defense is GonNa hold up. I'm interested Landon from the defensive side of the ball because you know you're certainly you've been more than one of the best players in college and you're you're doing quite well in the NFL when when when you look at trying to defend against Alabama runs you help us understand from your standpoint. How do you do it because You got four wide receivers that are going to play. You got to who speaks for itself you you got a running back who's overlooked and Nausea Harris. WHO's still big Tom Player right and I realize you're only one you're only one man? I I think they think the overtime game was in fourteen. Okay so you are correct about. That House attended game. Two that was very Alabama should have lost that game. Sign very very
