"Bernie Madoff, Bernie ecclestone, Bernie Mac. No, no. Do not besmirch the name of Bernie Mac. Bernie max, my favorite comedian of all time. Stand up. Are you scared of you motherfuckers? And he's got like this Bill Cosby sweater on. It's the funniest I scared of you. I was watching Transformers the other day for some reason and Bernie Mac is in the first one. It's a car dealer. I gotta watch these so good. RIP. Also, I know who you were thinking. I'm not going to get political Nolan. I'm trying to think of another Bernie. That would be a funny tag on that. But I can't. But American people. All right. That has nothing to do. The American people need to know. Ellen, let me hear your Bernie. Let me be clear. Hey, at least you guys recognize. That was great. When you do burning, you have to just let your jaw go loose and you do a little bit of Lisp and you do a little spit, spit a little spit when you talk. We're master impressionist here. Anyway, gurney essentially calls for an advocacy group that represented team interests and helped promote you sex national championship. He also hoped the group could help negotiate television rights sponsorship agreements and race purses. See, that song very prudent, yes. Very good. Yeah, yeah. In November of 1978 November. Is there any info team? Gurney and fellow team owners, Roger Penske, and pat Patrick presented this proposal to the very same you sack board that they thought we're going to do a horrible job. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was rejected. Pat Patrick isn't pat short for Patrick. Patrick Patrick? Well, yes. Well, the thing is yes. No, you're right. You should not hold any politicians on any sort of pedestal. That's inevitably let you down. At some point. And because of either who they are or the system that they must act in. So in order to determine. Gurney, Penske and Patrick and three other team owners officially broke away from yusak to found cart, not only as an advocacy group, but as its own racing circuit. Well, that's like a weird way to put the weird term circuit. Racing authority? It's on series, basically. But it's serious. Not as an advocacy group, but as its own racing series. This was the beginning of the most popular and recent contemporary use of the term champ car. Since it was the name given by the governing body of cart. What? What? What? Well, I think this is where we should mention to the listener that this is one of the most confusing stories in motor sport here because of this terminology. Yeah. And if we do get anything wrong, we're not the first ones to get it wrong. But also you can email at us. Or send a letter via balloon. Yeah, the first kart race was held March 11th, 1979. Yusak was not pleased. The organization responded by announcing that each of the breakaway groups entries for the Indianapolis 500 had been rejected because they were, quote, not in good standing with yusak. That's their right. It was a bold move. Since it affected 19 cars, including entries driven by Al Unser, Bobby Unser, Johnny Rutherford, and Gordon johncock. Oh, not Gordon johncock. Gordon. Two names are penises. Put together had won 8 of the last 11 Indy 500 races. Dang, that John cut. Pretty good, man. The cart owners went to court where you sack was forced to hold an additional qualification round on the day before the race for the rejected 6 as they were called. Wow. They sued you, sack, and you sack had to hold another round of qualifications for the you sac teams that they had banned from the track. Gotcha. Okay. Peace was only temporary. In total, 20 races were held in 1979, with 13 as part of the new cart championship. For the 1980 season, the new president of the brickyard John Cooper tried bringing you sac and card together to jointly sanction a series called the championship racing league. The agreement lasted for four races before falling apart. Cart proved to be the more successful organization of the two. Well yeah, I mean you got like all those big guys. You got gurney. You got the OGs. You got the heart. John cocky. Gordon Bobby, bob. Nice to meet you man. Gordon John Koch. Ali, you do the work. Okay, go. You're out of cart. Okay, go back to you. Quickly, the you sac championship trail of other races was displaced by the cart series. By the end of 1981, the only use act sanctioned asphalt championship race was the Indianapolis 500. Everything else was cart. Wow. From there, cart used that leverage to effectively seize control of Indy, even though technically you sac remain the sanctioning body for the 500. Wow. Dang, that's my position. Through the 1980s and into the mid 1990s, kart racing was the most popular auto racing series in the country, behind star drivers like the answers, the andrettis, and Bobby Rahal. Ironically, it was during this era that fans began referring to the cars as IndyCars, despite the strife between Indianapolis and cart. In part because the American open wheel championship had been officially renamed the cart PPG Indy car World Series. Oh my God. Or CA RT PPG ICW S okay, so before we were talking about cart series and how the cars were quickly known as champ cars racing in IndyCar, even though champ cars were what you sack drove before cart was around. And now, the cart series is IndyCar. And they're driving champ cars. But people call them IndyCars. It's all just, you know, nomenclature at this point. People switching around names. We're just swimming in an open cliche right now. In the open Claire. Open Claire. I'm in an open Claire relationship. Cart soon tried to emulate the overseas popularity of Formula One, adding an emphasis on road courses and street circuits in addition to oval track. Smart. No, cart. The different courses were initially popular, but also called for a new kind of driver. Americans who had built their skills on the paved oval tracks were pushed out by Europeans, South Americans and Australians who'd been trained from childhood as road racers.

"Not anybody that I know of has come forward and go, you know, that wasn't really right or, you know, stuff like that. And so, no, I've had nothing but positive feedback from day one from the time that we put it out there. You mentioned towards the end of the book, your hope that anyone going through similar issues to the ones you faced might use it as a source of strength. Do you get the impression or have you heard from anybody that has come to you and said, thank you for sharing your story and it's really helped me. I've had several several people that have indicated from reading my book that they thanked me so much for coming out and being honest and being real and admitting the substance use disorder that I have and the struggles that I went through and they just appreciate the fact that if I could do it, then they're going to give it an effort to do the same thing and truly, you know, when Jade and I were really talking about what we wanted to accomplish with this book is really on that side of things is out of the race and fraternity out of that fishbowl of the race and world if we could get out into the general public with this thing. That would be a success in itself and I hope that we have, you know, kind of what I've been seeing really is word of mouth has been spreading this thing more and more and more and so hopefully in the weeks and months and years to come that honestly, if we can help one individual that knows nothing about racing, go and ask for help. That was the toughest thing for me. Was that first step that first, you know, I've got issues. I need help and to go get help. And that was the toughest thing for me to do, really. And so that took years and years and years and years to do. And so yeah, I've had people that have thanked me for that and that they're moving forward in their life. That's really encouraging. And you do say in the book about how do you engage someone like Roger Penske sooner and fessed up to him than it might have completely transformed your journey, but he was the last person you wanted to tell. And he was your boss. And my dad, you know? I mean, my dad was a same way as me. And so, you know, it's just the fact that we, my dad, my family, my uncle Bobby, myself. We didn't understand the disease of substance use disorder. None of us did. And so we didn't know what to do, you know? And so, you know, the best thing when that is to ask for help from professionals and they'll show you what to do. In a lot of ways, Jade, I mean, I was kind of talked about it. This book is a lot more than your standard racing memoir, isn't it? It has all the things that anyone with a passing interest in IndyCar racing and now might want to read about the high points, the championships, the beast engine, the failure to qualify at Indy, which is an absolutely remarkable story to hear it all spelled out as clearly as that, but how it then from the start of one chapter talking about racing to then suddenly pivoting to the struggles that I was facing is a lot more than a classical racing book, isn't it? Yeah, and from the very first time that Al and I met to talk to talk about the book, he was very open, very, very willing to tell the things that don't always paint him as heroic and so I admire that about Al as his willingness to be open and honest and to share what we're very difficult times in his life..

"Fascinating in the book hearing your recollections about growing up as the son of a famous racing driver, which is, you know, an experience that not too many people have. I mean, Jade, if I could bring you in because the Unser family in the U.S. is akin to motor sport royalty, there's the three really famous families in the petty's, the Andreas and the answers. Just how big a deal, if you can explain to people who maybe aren't familiar with U.S. mode sport, are the answers. And when were you first aware of the answers growing up as presumably a motor sport fan? Well, I can tell you for certain that in the, in my younger days, the Indy 500 was not televised live in the United States. You had to go to a local theater or a local auditorium to watch the race projected on a big screen in black and white. So I had vivid memories of 1970 going to the local auditorium and watching Al, when his very first Indy 500. So that's a very vivid young memory for me and really it only built from there. He certainly won again the following year and it continued to grow, and it is hard to describe how big the uncertain aim is and was, you just, they were sort of ever present on the IndyCar side of things. Al's uncle Barbie was just as famous as a TV commentator as he was as a racer was delayed on a flight one time in Phoenix, Arizona, and a way in the same area of the airport. I suddenly hear this voice. I didn't even need to turn around. It was uncle Bobby, so they just were icons of the sport of IndyCar. And when did you first become aware of our junior on is on his rise, you know, coming from short track over racing to then sliding into formula V can am and then on to the IndyCar scene, was he someone that because of his name, you were aware of him even before he got to IndyCar? Slightly, I was a big sprit car slash dirt track fan. So I was aware of him in his dirt track days, but I was also a fan who attended his very first Indy 500 where he drove the coup's light car that is just, like I say, still seared in my brain. Got in the way of Tom Steven. Yes, a very vivid memories of that. Of the fans thinking, what in the world is this rookie doing? He's getting in the way. So that was the first time I saw Al race in person. So it's tough to beat that memory there of his very first Indy 500. I mean, in a lot of ways, you are then the ideal guide to write this book without having been there from the start of the journey and all the way through and how this book it covers your rise in motor sport becoming a star name in your own right, but also the off track struggles as well. It's a really hard hitting read and a brutally honest one, but one that you describe in the introduction to the book as a very cathartic project for you. So when did the idea for this book first come about and was it everything was the final product everything that you had hoped it to be? Well, first off, the final product is more than I had expected. And so, you know, and I think I really think Jade for doing making it as success because Jade has a unique talent to be able to put my voice on paper so that people can read it, and that's one of the comments I've had. As a matter of fact, Tony George, I was having dinner with him the other night and he goes, I was reading it and I could hear your voice as I'm reading..

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. Yesterday I woke up to the news that Indy 504 time champion Al Unser had passed away. He was 82. Now when you hit that age, it shouldn't be a surprise, but even though he had cancer for a few years, it was a surprise, just because you're not there. You're not expecting it to happen, so you're not mentally prepared. Many of my friends, especially from Indianapolis, who grew up around the speedway, have a feeling in a connection to Allen's or senior whether we met him or not. I met him for a brief moment with a quick hello and how are you doing? And that was about it. But it was magical, because I watched him win those races on TV as a young kid, then a few hours later, Michael Nesmith of the Monkees passed away at the age of 78. And likewise, a lot of friends, both musically connected not, feeling the effects, and were all sharing our feelings, and I wonder why we're affected the way we are. We don't know these people, but they impacted our lives so greatly, but even though we're not prepared for it, it still hurts. And I really wish I could explain why it affects me and so many of my Friends so much.

"Just finished january ovitz's book on the indie split about to flip over in another octane. Press release on the life and career of a pivotal member of the unser racing family. Al unser jr. a checkered past tells the story a little success on the racetrack. His impact on canadian racing and racers his struggles with drugs and alcohol in his recovery to help young drivers succeed our guest bestselling author of this book. Here's jade girth part one on race. Line radio his impact on the canadian story might be undeniable but for you overall. What convinced you that. This was the right time to help out tell his story warts and all and published this book. Why now. It was really a scenario where i had written a book with. John andretti Before he pass he's just was such a wonderful human being and i love his family. It happens. John's family attorney. Also is al juniors attorney okay and al had actually been thinking about. The time was right for him to do a book up and he actually took an online course on how to write a book decided that his story was a little too important for him to do it. As as a writing rookie. They reached out to me. I couldn't take a yeah fast enough. But he and i cross paths in the past and i was really thrilled. They asked me to help. Put his story in the word and it's important to note that he wanted to write this book himself but decided to story was complex in emotional. And as as you said important. Did you have to steer him in a different processor timeline. Jade from what. He may have had in mind originally when he wanted to do it himself or any pretty much. Follow your roadmap on how the story should unfold. Because whenever you're doing one of these books and you're you're the pro not me but an observation. You've got to do these very carefully. Did you have to steer away from what he wanted to do to get this done. No we when he and i. I saw I hate to say ground rules. 'cause sound quite right but we kind of set the parameters young admitted right up front. I want to be honest. I wanna tell things that maybe don't even make me look very good But it's him telling the truth was very important. He feels like if there are people out there that may be struggling with Issues of alcohol or drugs that Maybe his story can be A lesson or a guide of how not to do it but d- how to kind of come back from from that trouble so So he was very open. Very honest Boy we you know. We shared so much and i think the news conference that you joined us with. He admitted There were times when we'd have to stop yes. He just became too emotional. And and i you know it was. I sort of base my response on on him and I i give him all all the credit in the world for being open and honest about About his life. Yeah that's that's amazing to to learn that it got so emotional that he had to stop because he was in a flood of tears. But i mean he told you up front that he wanted to be a hundred percent open about this and i don't think he disappointed he no he. He really didn't end. There were times when honestly he was very open about himself and his struggles but Didn't want to. I trying to think of the best way to put this. Ah wanna throw anyone else under the bus or germ. He was always very careful about You know telling his story and not trying to You know to bring down anyone else. and so you know that that was not always easy but He just see so good to work with that I think that the book I think both race fans and people that may be struggling with some of his issues Will will really get a lot without a doubt with jade gersh author of the book. Al unser jr. checkered past from octane presses. Our special guest across canada on the race line radio network from his to indianapolis five hundred wins and ninety two and ninety four as part of the first family of the indy. Five hundred nine unser wins of the classic in total his to indycar championships. His downfall multiple arrests for dwi mental health issues substance abuse touched on it. The life of allen's for junior's been called turbulent jade but fascinating. You obviously have to agree with that. But what you needed it to come off as genuine was tough one for you to do no it was. It was talking sense that he and i became quite close while working on this so stories that were emotional for him became emotional for me as as the author To take his words. I really felt pressure to present his words in a way that was Honest and straightforward i. I didn't want to try to glorify anything. I've written books in the past where you know i admit to making some of these drivers Muller heroics and maybe was always. I know what you i know what you mean. I know what you mean. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Yeah but But without junior You know we talked about so many great racing stories as well. I don't want people to think this is only Bad news at town or You know that that family or were full characters and and really portrays him beautifully and You know his career You mentioned some of. His accomplishments really was amazing behind the wheel. So we certainly get all the good behind the scene stories of being at the racetrack. You know it's interesting to jay that al said that his dad big alan his late uncle bobby before he passed. Were kind of scared of this book. And what it might reveal it. Is there a reason for that. And if you're telling the truth is there a reason to be frightened of what becomes public you know. Are the answers very very private. People as is that. Why there's fear there I'm not sure about private. But they they felt like he was taking risks by admitting to so much. I see you know he. He's gone through so much. That was you know it was in all the tabloids and it made for you know sensationalism and and all of that. So it's not that this was a total secret that he had his struggles. But i think for them. It was emotional to see him in context. yeah you know where he he laid it all out you know. He really was very open about everything. So i i i think they're. They're being scared was concerned for him. But you know maybe he's Admitting to march or something but Alice vary Very headstrong from day. One about this is. This is my story and i want to be open about it. So there were days when he talked to them and then call me and say man. They're scared if i say this or that But i you know. I think that's just his family I don't know if being protective is the word they just. They're they are concerned That he you know he'll say things that people might hold against him. But yeah but you know. I i don't know i think that's a natural family. I suppose. Yeah we kinda care for each other you know. Bring him close and they're they're just they wanna make sure that You know this is handled well and so we'll see. I think people are to really appreciate that honesty or produces open the door. I'm encouraged by the various part. One with author j gerson his best selling book. Alan's our junior a checkered past from octane. Press due for an october release. We'll have part two with jade on the book next week on race. Line radio okay. Well let's prep for the final pitstop. Then we'll be back for.

"Her own team. And i love this from san antonio and darvin. That'd be great matchup. Pelley wizards family gets the job. Gets the job is going to be the. would that be it. Can somebody remind me like. That's the last one. Pelicans in the wizards the last two officially not been filled. It's it's definitely disappointing. That it it's looking like we're not going to have a female. Nba head coach which we thought was like we were going to bet on that. I remember at the start of all those coaching vacancies. Li like we're like one. maybe two. yeah and we're looking for here again. Which that that's very disappointing but like tasks ed ham. I don't know much about charles lee. I'll be honest but hammond until junior. I mean we've we've talked about them before over the last decade. Because they're just they're basketball. Like i and they come up and they break up fights and stuff like that sometimes so i very excited for one of them to get probably this job again. Tk anything to add to this headline. Well i thought it was interesting tasks that you brought up stephen silas. Because that's what this reminds me of as well a longtime assistant going to be getting off first job likely. Coaching some superstars stephen silas it was james harden and the question even then was is james harden going to be traded. Obviously he was very soon after so. I'm kind of wondering. Does this mean that. The wizards are looking to a future. When they're not going to have bradley beal they're quite soon. You know you don't often bring in a first time coach for superstars. And i think that. That's what the wizards i mean. You know bill and westbrook or not the top of the pops in the nba right now but those guys are both all nba. All star caliber players. Are they in the stage of their career where they want to be playing for an assistant getting his first job. Coaching the nba. That's not usually the case. So i wonder if this means the bill even more so on the market right now. Yeah i'm with you. I think that's for sure. I'm in that boat. I think it's time to develop the players in washington. Get get down to the young guns because it's it seems inevitable especially when you know. Westbrook hits his the other side of his career. It's gotta be it's gotta be halftime or junior time. I gotta be honest i am. I am cheering against charles lee. No fence charles leads. Good guy yeah. He's played for a long to play internationally for a long time. He's been with bud for a long time back to his land as but he's younger than me. So i like when guys are at least a little bit older than thirty six. So young guy would would be taken the rains there in milwaukee every time. Somebody says wes unseld junior. Tk think of al unser. junior. I been for me. I do think of unseld senior. I think you're but watching enough one now. We got this fast and furious podcasts. Coming up this guy can't stop thinking about racing on the unseld fact. I'll always know as long as we're talking to dump stuff as true but my dad and my high school basketball coach both told me that was unsound. Practice drill was he would throw the ball off the glass to himself. I mean he's famous isn't offensive rebound ripe. And he's famous outlet passer so we had throw the ball off the glass to himself. Catch it and in mid air. Turn and weapon outlet pass to hit the other glass like a ninety four foot overhead off the glass outlet pass. I don't know if this is humanly possible. But that's the second thing i think of when i hear the name wes unseld junior. Somebody let me know if it's true. Well hopefully footage. We'll get some of that on the show. All right we gotta take one more break. We do have tweeted tonight. But let's see if we can really sell juju thirty two something here. We're.

"For us and you ladies and gentlemen. He continues to contribute to this network, Donald welcome, and we're thrilled to death to travel will be with us. You've been with us all throughout the month. Well, thank you, Mark. And thanks to everybody for all of the kind words I didn't say I was stopping. I said I was gonna just kick back a little bit. But Hollywood just want to throw. It wants to be down there this morning when the winners went out in the pace car is one of my favorite things. And then the driver's going out with legendary cars. And you know, Rutherford's down there and Mario and pointless down there. And Alan, sir and Doug Bowls got to drive. The Maserati that carried will be assured of victory and 39 40. If we go back 100 years ago to 1921. That's when Tommy built in the 501st. First of two. Now he's driving for an interesting team headquartered downtown Indianapolis under the direction off Louis and Arthur Chevrolet. They relocated here after giving up all of their involvement, but the Chevrolet Motor Company, which they helped found And they just moved down here and started building waste cars, and they couldn't call them Chevrolets because they gave that up anyway. Ralph to Palm of the Great Ralph Department, led almost the entire first half of the 1921 500, but he dropped out. And here's Tommy Milton with the Chevrolet bro this cock or the front and act special. Now he always claimed that he was down on power, and he was caught by a driver from Lafayette, Indiana, named Brasco Souls who was driving for another outfit downtown. Headed up by frayed anarchy. Duesenberg, Can you believe this all of these people in Indianapolis, and they all know each other so anyway. Showers pulled alongside Milton and Milton. As I say he claimed the cars down on power. He looked over its sorrows, waved, grinned and then reach forward to pat the engine cover. And didn't have a psychological impact on Roscoe Solves, as a matter of fact, guessed it did so slowed down and Milton went on to win. Well, maybe the rumor was always always that Milton only had sight in one eye. And indeed, in every photograph, you see, he's got this very pronounced squint. So ah, great town. Early day historian named Charles Lytle asked a colleague. Do you think Milton only had sight in one eye? And the response was one I owe. He had at least three in the back of his head, Harry, Let's go 20 years more recent to 80 years ago, 1941. Mari Rose starts from the ball leads a number of laps and then goes on to win. Well, four drivers had already done that, and many have sense but something interesting about Rose. He did that with two different cars he was driving flew more and more had a quite a measure. Roddy, just like the one will be a short one in 39 40. Rose qualified for the pole with that one. Let a few laps and then on lap 60. He was sidelined now loom or had three cars in the race total, so one that was running 12th with Floyd Davis driving. He bought that in They filled up the car and more, but of instructed Davis to get out and Rose took over the car. Now Rose knew the carvery well because he finished third with it the year before, and so up through. The package came Now, what was sure was apparently on his way to a third consecutive victory with the Maserati, but he had a wire will collapse at last 1 52, and he hit the wall into the lead goes Cliff brochure driving another loom or entry, who, which was on its way to go in the entire 500 miles without a bet stop, But Pressure was feeling the effects of the of the fumes. And so he was slowing down and Rose passed him and then went on to the victory. And there's co winners because Floyd papers started the race and Rose finished. We've got tons more stuff, but just something that can happen today, which I think is kind of extraordinary and and it kind of cracked up on us now. Scott Dixon is driven in the Indianapolis 518 times, and he's been able to lead a considerable number of laps without really drawing attention to himself. Because of his style. He flies under the radar now going into last year's race. He was running ninth in all time lapse led and during the course of the race, he moved up to third. He went by book of it. She went by Parnelli Jones. He went by Mario Point will be sure he ended up He was so going into today. He's ranking third. Who's ahead of him? Allen, sir. And Ralph diploma. Is it possible that he could catch them? As a matter of fact? Yes. If he leads 82 laps today, and he let 111 last year on the way to second. If he leaves 82 laps. Today, he will pass Ralph Diploma and Al Unser and won't go out of here. Actually all time lapse leader To me. That's astonishing because you don't think of Scott Dixon is being that kind of a driver. He brings him home. But he also leaves a lot of laps without people noticing and still relatively young based on what we're seeing. I mean, he could be around here for a few more years, and I think stay at the top of his profession. Where do we stand Statistically, in terms of laps completed that they get. Carpenter is one that could move up today. That's the real surprise. Yes, I going into last year's race. Ed Carpenter, ranked 11th in terms of all times, laps completed and came out of 1/10. What could he do today? If he was to complete 180 laps, he will move to sex in the all time laps completed category now point sat in front. No catching him at lunch, a second. And then a little cash to Nevers his third and I think Kanaan and Dixon off 4th and 5th of the top of my head, but Ed Carpenter 180 laps and he will move past retired drivers to sixth. It all timed laps completed. I find that astonishing. Ed Carpenter is just the new kid just new on the block and just has run in recent years. We had a really good shot at a very, very young front row. It's got Dixon came along and blew that average. Anything. Yes, and and that also the other the record that could I love records stand for a long time. But Boy, they're taking abating in recent years old type. You know, the Latin leader was 29 lead changes was the record Now it's 68 on then the other record that has been possible for a couple of years now is that Troy Ruttman could be dethroned. As the youngest winner ever and certainly caught in hurt her and Rina speak a are in a position to be able to do that. And also Alex Pelo, I believe are the three that could be thrown him. And then we almost lost one When Rex Mays was the was the youngest pole sitter at 22 in 1935. And it could have bean that Colton herder have been able to not Dixon off the pole. He would have been the youngest ever and then so little bit of trivia. So it's still Rex Mays, who was the second youngest pole winner, and that would be Rex Mays in 1936 when he was 23. Well, the good news is we don't have to worry about that being it'll spray champagne because they'll get milk in victory. And so they're they're served. They're too young to drink champagne anyway, that's for sure..

Ed Carpenter Scott Dixon Kanaan Al Unser Charles Lytle Mark Alex Pelo 82 laps Dixon Rose Alan Roddy Floyd Davis Tommy Milton Donald Mari Rose 1936 Rina Davis 1921

"South Padre Island. Been there done that. That's a good place. They got a lot of tequila in South Padre Island and tequila drinkers. One thing they're not supposed to have their own college kids is Louisiana alligators? No, not a lot of Louisiana because it's South Texas. It's pretty much right at the border with Mexico. It's a pretty long way from Louisiana. Louisiana has big alligators and look, Texas has alligators to do. But the further you get down the coastline there, The less likely you are to see a Louisiana alligator actually around a lot of salt water. Yeah, right. That's part of it. I mean that. Not that they can't. They just generally don't Well, one of them showed up there. Authorities attacks has got an unusual visitor. When an alligator from Louisiana was kind of a license plate on him. They spot him for even They knew he was from Louisiana. I think it had to do with the size and some of the I don't know how they figure this out Bill yet, but they just knew it was a Louisiana alligator. Look him over. Look for His inspection sticker. They found it at Padre Island National Seashore Park, told C south of Corpus Christi Park officials sent all the way to South Padre. No, but pretty close to it. Park officials say the alligator had a tag on its rear. Well, there you go on its rear feet and then released. It was a tag. It was an American alligator from Louisiana, so they knew. Yeah, there you go, is tact. So they consulted with their partners of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The animal was transported to a rehabilitation facility to recover from its long journey. Don't worry, Louisiana. We're sending you back your alligator. Yeah. We don't want it. Yeah, you could keep it. Well, you know. Well, we figure you guys need them. We don't need him so much. You can keep the alligator So they sent it back over there. And meanwhile, in Louisiana, the houses just voted to ban holding a cell phone while driving in that, But didn't you think that would already be illegal? Well, maybe somebody people hold it while they're on the speakerphone, and they think they can get away with that because they're Roman speakerphone. But now that still keeping one hand busy. At least that's kind of what they're suggesting here, right? They don't want you to text Texting already illegal, right? I assume, because it's illegal in most and driving. Yeah, but now the way they build these new cars is you've got the phone shows up on your dashboard. You plug the phone into the car, and then you could see on your dashboard. What's going on with your phone and then So what difference does it make? You're still messing with the phone. You're just doing it on your dashboard when you can and some of it, Of course, their voice automated as well. So there's that Um, Apparently, some drivers in Lafayette don't think that this law is needed, according to a report here from NBC Lafayette. They went out and asked people. What do you think of this? And a lot of local people said it sucks. Why should it be illegal to pick up my phone for a second, right? Yeah. No. I have to say if I get a text while I'm driving. I don't text back usually But I do like to pick it up to see who it was. It might have been a 911 might have been an S o f That doesn't show up on your dashboard. It might have been Enrique. Well, how's Enrique? Did I need to see that? What are you in a rica doing for Memorial Day? Couldn't say no. You always that right? No plans specifically. Oh, no. We have plans. I know what I'm not doing, but I'm not going to The Indy 500, but that is this weekend. Are you aware? Yeah. I like Formula One. 104th. I think it's kind of windy. Yeah. Where is that taking place this year? Indianapolis don't know Sarah, but it is taking place from what I understand with a full house and holds a lot of people. It's more than a college football game. It's a lot and they're gonna let people what the folks that didn't He put the word out to the people at the bank and the people at my veterinarian's office that this Co. Churchill Downs where they have the horse races. Yankee Stadium, the Rose Bowl, Vatican city, The Taj Mahal, the White House Liberty Island, not just where the not just the statue, but the whole Island Liberty statue stands on and the Roman Coliseum. All of those things could fit inside the Indy Motor Speedway at once. Wow, that's pretty big placement, they could put a four hole golf tournament size. Golf course in the infield of the raceway. They could hold other sporting events, but at the same time, But can they hold their cell phones while they're driving in a circle? No, because it's dangerous and professional drivers would tell you that it is dangerous. Well drive safe out there this weekend kids. It's Memorial Day weekend and now Mom thoughts.
