"al robinson" Discussed on NFL Live

"Welcome to NFL live. We're Brady is back but without Gronk, how much pressure will there be on the Buccaneers past catchers? And the Bengals surprised everyone with their run to the Super Bowl last season. So could things look different for burrow and company this fall. Plus, for the first time in forever, there are questions surrounding the Steelers signal caller, but cut the end result actually be an upgrade from last season. We've got a packed house here on NFL live today. Menace, Sam acho and Adam Schefter with me on Kelsey Riggs and we're with you for the next hour. How about Terry mclaurin? Put pen to paper today officially signing a three year $71 million extension. We'll get to that in a few, but we start right now in Cleveland, where the browns are awaiting the ruling from deshaun Watson's disciplinary hearing that wrapped up last week, Watson has been accused and civil lawsuits by 25 women of actions ranging from sexual assault and appropriate behavior during massage sessions. 20 of the plaintiffs agreed to settle prior to the hearing and one of the lawsuits was dropped. So Adam, where does Watson's case with the league stand right now? Look, I'll see the post hearing briefs are due the week of July 11th, meaning next week. So barring some settlement that nobody sees coming right now. It looks like the judge will get the post hearing briefs and then in the words of various people, quote unquote take her time before she makes a decision and we'll see what the judge decides here because there's no track record of judge Sue Al Robinson ruling on an NFL disciplinary case being that this is the first one she's had under the new collective bargaining agreement. So really no one knows exactly how it's going to shake out. I think the NFL PA feels confident in its argument that NFL owners were not held to a certain standard of conduct here when deshaun Watson is accused of being with 66 different woman sexual misconduct and we'll see how the judge views it the NFL made its argument and again briefs do next week. All right, we'll continue to keep an eye on that. The brown's also awaiting the ruling. And they have some decisions to make regarding the other quarterbacks that are on their roster as well. Former number one overall pick Baker Mayfield hasn't been with the team since they traded for Watson in March, but he is still on the roster and set to make a guaranteed $19 million this season. He was asked this week about the situation in the possibility of returning. I think it's been pretty obvious to mutual decision on both sides is to move on. You know, I'm thankful for my four years in Cleveland. There's a lot of ups and downs and a ton of learning experiences that all forever keep with me. But I think a lot of people think if they didn't have a quarterback for the next year, but would there be any chance of reconciliation there? No, I think for that to happen, they would have to be some reaching out, but we're ready to move on. I think on both sides. All right, so it sounds like he's saying all the right things. Mina would a return to Cleveland for baker, but it make any sense. It's tricky because on one hand, if Mayfield was to say, screw you, I'm going to take my guaranteed money. I'm going to sit out after you, toss me aside. I think everybody would understand that decision and it would make a lot of sense. But on the other hand, if you take the emotions out of it and what's happened and just consider this from a football perspective and ask, okay, if Baker Mayfield's goal is to once again be an NFL starter, what is the best path for doing that if Watson was suspended for some long period of time, it actually does make sense, I think, for him to consider going back to Cleveland. Right now, his value is so depressed. Unfairly, I believe, after he played injured last season. If you were to join a Cleveland team with a very soft, early schedule an excellent offensive line and run game, as we all know, and Amari Cooper, I think he would actually have a pretty good shot of not only rebuilding that value, but probably winning some fans around the league. Now, I want to be clear. I don't think this is going to happen. You heard his tone, but if we were just to look at this from a football perspective, it does seem to be worthy of consideration to me. Yeah, maybe worthy of consideration and meaning all those points make a ton of sense. But from a player's perspective, a guy who has been disdained and lied to by his team, I see it really difficult or if not impossible for Baker Mayfield to come back to the Cleveland Browns. Number one, he said in a podcast a couple months ago that they lied to him. They asked him on the podcast said baker. Do you feel disrespected? He said yes. Yes, I do feel disrespected. They told me one thing and they did another. And that tells me that the trust has been broken. So even if there was an opportunity to come back, number one, you lost my trust when you lied to me and you told me you're going to keep me as a quarterback and you went the next day, got the Sean Watson. Number two, you talked about the ups and the downs his experiences in Cleveland. I don't think he would want to go back. Last year, he tried to put the team on his back, play with an injury, yet there was a lot of noise internally and otherwise of people saying they didn't necessarily want him there. And so if I'm baker, I am not coming back. But you wonder about the trust with not just the team, but probably the teammates that are there as well, so that'll be interesting. Adam, what can you tell us, mentioned that 19 million guaranteed this year? What's the trade market currently look like for Baker Mayfield? My understanding is that the browns are not willing to cut Baker Mayfield and have no plans to cut Baker Mayfield and they're going to continue to hold on to the hope that they can move him and his $18.85 million guaranteed salary knowing that they're going to have to pay and absorb a healthy portion of it. And it's a situation where the browns once were on the receiving end of a Brock Osweiler deal and now it looks like in this particular case they're going to be stuck with the money one way or another. The trade market is at best limited. What is July 5th, right? July 5th is different than August 5th and the dynamics change. There could be a quarterback whose injured over the next month. There could be a quarterback who struggles during camp in the opening weeks. There are numbers scenarios that could change the baker trade market that right now is pretty flat. The only team that the browns have had real meaningful conversations with has been the Carolina Panthers and they've balked at making a deal so far. Now that could change but there's obviously not a great demand for baker at this time. But this time is not the time of training camp. That's when things could change, but my understanding is that the browns are not going to be cutting Baker Mayfield at any point soon believing that they have a commodity that they know they're on the hook for contractually anyway. So plenty of time and as Adam said, we will see what happens as we get closer to training camp and then into the season. Now out of 31 qualified quarterbacks, last season, Baker Mayfield ranked 27th and both QBR and completion percentage. So we'll see what the future holds with him and the browns, but they do also have Jacoby Brissette and he's on the roster. He could potentially step in as well. Should Deshawn Watson have what is looking like it will be a suspension in the future. Now, Mercedes has not been a primary starter since the 2019 season when he started 15 games for the colts Mayfield has made 22 more starts than percent in their careers and is a slightly better QBR, but beset has the advantage and touchdown to interception ratio. So with that in mind, Sam is Brissette for a long stretch of games. If he's in there, what is the ceiling look like for the browns? I think the browns are still a playoff team, even with Jacoby Brissette at quarterback. They've built a playoff roster and they thought they brought in a quarterback who could take them to the next level. Yet now they don't know what will happen at quarterback. When you look at it, you go and you get Amari Cooper who's at over 5000 yard receiving seasons in his career. You can get little pieces, right? Like talking about a guy like jakeem grant, who's a specialist pro bowler at returner. This team, David and joko at tight end, re signed. This team has the talent to make the playoffs, not to mention their first four game of the season. You start with the Panthers, the Steelers, the jets, the falcons, right? You're gonna start off with a relatively easy schedule. Now obviously things get harder, but I think you're gonna have an opportunity to make the playoffs. I don't think they can win in the playoffs when you have unless you're gonna have an upgrade at quarterback, but.

"I don't get the sense that Rogers is that guy. I don't think he has that network, you know? Well, I think he has the network, obviously. But like, I don't know if guys are necessarily like, okay, I know what he does. You know, I've caught the ball, you know, I feel good about this. And so I don't know if it's that easy to just be like, oh, well, you know, maybe it's DK Metcalf or whoever it is, you know, I don't think it's that simple, you know? Puts a little crimp in there outlook here. I will say though, there's still just such a margin for error in that division. It's almost like you could do the old patriots things where it's like, you know, we have three months to figure this out. And then we got to start winning games. So we'll get to the postseason. Yeah. Alan Robinson goes to the rams, also the rams deal Robert Woods, the Titans here, but Ramsay the rams, I'm not a huge Alan Robinson guy. However, it does make sense, look, you have Cooper Cup is sort of your big slot type dude. Obviously they move him around. Odell was kind of the guy you brought in to be that kind of ex matchup problem guy you basically have to end up leaving in single coverage if you are going to double Cooper Cup. And Beck and play well, he still might be back there, but with the ACL tear, who knows what his timetable is for the start of next season. So Al Robinson fits the bill. I'm not a huge Allen Robinson believer. I think he is a very good player. I don't think he's necessarily like the superstar. He's been billed to be. But we'll see, this will obviously be by far the best offense he's been in, by far the best quarterback he's played with. And we'll see if this kind of takes off because the narrative with him is always sort of been like, well, you know, the quarterbacks he played with her so bad, and could you imagine if he ever played with someone good? Well, he's gonna, and he's been strictly a contested catch guy. I thought two years ago his contested catch rate was not quite good enough. I don't know what the actual rate was, but just anecdotally. I thought there were too many legitimate 50 50 balls that he didn't come down with. But, you know, silently it fits what the rams need as a compliment to Cooper cop here. Yeah, you know, I'm happy for Allen Robinson. I'm excited for Allen Robinson. I think to me, it shifts the dynamics a little bit. And I'm wondering if this is an evolution from Sean mcvay a little bit, right? Where you're almost removing the stereotypical, like Shanahan thought process there where it's like we have our we have our pace setter..

"Ends ricky sales. Dave you get to keep being the pessimistic one. Give me one big loser from week. I don't know if there's a loser than allen robinson at this point fantasy managers can't be excited to start him no matter what two games ago was las vegas amazing matchup justin fields on the field. Good opportunity nope no production this week. It's green bay at home. Maybe statement game for justin fields beat up secondary for the packers nope four catches for fifty something yards fifty. Three's been miserable this year and And justin fields. We're talking in. The preseason like just field is going to the best quarterback that he would ever work with. Is it possible that just feels as the worst quarterback that allen robinson is ever come on. It's it's working it is not working for chicago. Who just okay. We've got a little bit Dave's been able to suppress his chicago. Bear fan inside of him for for almost the entire time that i have known him that. And you could see when the bears got justin field and we had this off season you could see a little bit of sparkle. And so i think. Maybe there's a little bit of a rational bear fan. Dave coming out in this justin fields might be the worst quarterback alan robinson's ever played with. No he's a quarterback who has been okay for a rookie quarterback. Yeah that's the thing. Rounds quarterback alan robbins. Denver played with certainly. It doesn't matter me the fact that he's not boosting al robinson. Although does it matter at all that robinson actually led the team in receiving today with fifty three yards. No that makes it even worse. And no one's no one's gonna be great there in chicago. Darnall mooney isn't a winner. He caught a touchdown doesn't mean that he's a must start guy no allen robinson is a must sit guy even against tampa bay next week. I'm i'm not ready to trust them. Drop down robinson where we have to see it. And by the way that twinkle in my eye that you're talking about. I was probably thinking about ice cream or pizza dropout robinson or hold them tenting leaves. You can drop them twelve team leagues. He's he's droppable. "How do you feel about al robinson. I would try and get away from him. How many yards was it. He had seventy he had the most out of digs maclaurin goblin hop but he also had a season high. Forty two yard reception in that four for seventy and so was on ramsey too. Obviously do that again. And that could be a touchdown and you can make a strong case that the quarterback play is better now right now than it was a year ago. Or maybe any point in his career Whoever whichever quarterback zona ball 'cause there could be justifying at some point in this game but it's just it's just risky. It's risky to go against the best corner and football and again it's the same thing. Like you know zeke against the bucks and Arkley barkley and in the same game. Montgomery going against the rams defense they shut down also so these are the decisions that you make. If if you feel comfortable benching allen robinson saquon. Barkley ezekiel elliott. When these mike evans going into the game. If you knew he was going to have that type of production when be surprising robinson as a mike settling and seventy yards was the mark that you said ass. He's had seventy or fewer yards with no touchdowns in three. Straight years against la. It's not necessarily a byproduct of jalen ramsey. It's the scheme that they play. They've got good cornerbacks on both sides. It's not just ramsey They've got another cornerback. Aaron williams on the other side. He was really good last year. And i i think the bears are going to realize think the bears are going to realize that they've got it. Just kinda work the middle of the field against l. a. And i also think that nagy's got it in his head now that he has to run the football so much and he's talked about so much. It's one of the reasons why. I'm kind of optimistic about david. Montgomery this week is that. I think he's gonna get fed and fed last time we played. The ramsey. didn't do well but also take a chance on any running back that's going to get closer twenty touches your more optimistic. You have montgomery right around. Twelve jamie's got him just outside the top twenty inside the top twenty four so this is another guy. We talked a lot about yesterday. But jamie you know you just. You saw what he did. Last year he had a lot of touches and it wasn't good You go ahead. you can have the first word on montgomery and then again. As i said yesterday i said it on. Hq again anytime somebody asks me. You're benching. I got you know no matter what numbers you put in front of anybody team. So you had have james robinson maybe as a as a late pick Or or later pick and he was going before the injury. That's situational you want. Start maybe tyson williams over the strong feeling on on him I'd probably will start montgomery but it's close Non pr at least But again one thousand nine hundred touches last season. We'd all sign up for nineteen old touches most running backs that are as prolific as as david. Montgomery has been but in those nineteen touches. He had fourteen carries for fifty plus or forty plus yards and five carries five catches for for twenty plus yards so they did a good job containing him. I think it's going to be another rough game so This offensive line concerns me. This defense is awesome. They're at home. You know. I think game for david montgomery by his standards certainly by the standards that he showed us at the end of the season..

"Between them. I don't think i will think side will get so. You're saying he picked up value. We'll say what you said. He has seen you lamb to you just you think. Cd lamb was a great pack. Do you think he scores on robinson this year. But like i think. Taiwan kills going to be able to have a little bit more comfort in the long term. Because yes patrick mahomes throng tim in the long term. I don't know the long term future of mobs and so saying it's a week to week bowel. Yes it is but again you also just the value. How how much do you value that long-term win now versus long term thing. That's a big difference. So i think taibbi killed just them a chance to be great in the short term. And i think it's a decent picture long term as well on plus tie whereas allen bob woodson doesn't have nearly trade by so again those are those are some of the reasons why i'd say tyree kills better than alibaba missing and if you're looking at from a dynasty respected looks opera singer tariq value is built around. Patrick mahomes correct. Our robin has proven that. He doesn't need a quarterback. He said the worst quarterbacks in his entire career. i'm very high. I'm very very hot. So i'll have. What change what happens if i would have picked. I honestly would have picked the alabama senate over the last six or seven received. Yes over. Michael thomas chris godwin More brand new. I chase claypool. Devante smith n. t. here. I'm going to pick them wall. So if anything i viewed allen vomits in as like an early fifth round pick swart but yet somehow. I'm not saying i'm not high and you don't have to sell me on the fact i'm not i'm not selling what i'm saying is like always talked about the range of outcomes right here. Here's the range albums for al robbins. Over the next two years either. Justin fields is going to be a stud or al robinson will be out of there and guess what happens. Guess what happens if he goes to any other team can be good. It's going to be better than it was the last couple of years. The bears jaguars. Yeah i so. His his situation can literally only improve in. My in my estimation is going to be a number one target though. I don't know we'll see stability. He's always been target hog. Yes actually i think he has the possibility probably not but i also think you also have to realize that he's still like twenty two years old and i think by the time is chris over. He's going to have a few like top five receiving season. So i think long term that. Cd lambs can be much better. And i think that probably has fewer years than tie retail less and their age. So if if he goes to winning team he goes plays alongside with like a. Let's say he goes to get a bike near like the right now. I what about this though. Is he going to get by making that. Move.

"Free agency you need to bring some hope to bears fans because suffering through another season of media mediocre quarterback play would be just devastating and the bears have also had room have been rumored to have discussions with lions wide receiver. Kenny golladay who i like and released pile for and akiem hicks so the kenny golladay news. That's a huge impact on allen robinson. Maybe they both they both. They want to acquire both. But i've seen more reports lately. That god is expected to sign with the giants. All it would be a cheaper wide receiver. One than allen rod allen robinson is definitely a more talented player and then it also came out that al robinson accepted his franchise tag so that could mean that he is staying. He's accepting this One year deal before he can hit the market next year. Or that's just the first part for the bears to end up trading him. So i'm not sure how that's happening all this news coming in and so confusing and i just don't know where the bears are going right now but the fuller hicks news is completely shocking. And i don't really know what it means for the bears. Other than saving money fuller only had one interception last year. But he's an all pro corner and akiem hicks is one of the best players on that d. line and now they have two huge holes on that defense which was the pride in not really many improvements on offense so right. Now it's where are you going ryan pace. What is the overall direction of this team so to kind of wrap it up bears fans i feel i know. I know you're upset I'm a bears fan to elect like to reiterate that this is still going to be a volatile and fast moving free agency period they say dullness star now but things can always change in the nfl. there's always cliche talk like that and i wouldn't trust that narrative just yet for all we know they could trade up in the draft like i've said russell wilson good start to increasing demand trade and then seattle's hands could be tied shawn watson could still be removed or they can sign a guy like marcus. Mariota or gardner minshew putu on a cheap deal to come compete with dalton and kind of get the best out of the quarterback position there so my guess right now as to what the bears do is i think they target a high end draft prospect. And i think that guy is trey lands because if you Kept up with approach as ryan pace and nagy both their their scouting. The quarterback position really do do diligently and matt nagy. I think wants to have his say as quarterback they pick. You wants to have Young young quarterback that he likes that he can develop in that can kind of learn his offense as they go along but overall the bears are starting to have a lot of holes on this team and at the moment they don't have the resources to fill it so it's gonna be interesting to see how they maneuver the salary cap situation how they maneuver to loss of these defensive players and overall just how they fill these needs on their team before the season starts ryan pace is on the last year of his contract this year so if this is really the direction that the team is going into the season i just can't see him or matt nagy coming back after twenty twenty one which when you if you want to take different perspectives here. That could be a positive for bears fans because you could say this antidote and sign is just further fighting the Evidence the evidence and or the eventual. And that is that ryan pace and matt. You're going to be fired. So if you really don't like ryan pace and matt nagy then you could kind of spin this in a way that any don't signing means just one day closer to The inevitable which is ryan pace in matt nagy to be fired. So that's an bears talk. You know i rambled. It's it's a little frustrating is a bears fan. But it's also. I mean it's an incredible story line. Just how the bears can't find a quarterback. I think it's so interesting and we're becoming. We're getting close to the verge of of a team. Almost being cursed with that position with the bears but nonetheless i want to move on to the rest of free agency. I'm gonna get into a quick commercial break when i come back. I'm gonna talk patriots again. I'm white krieger..

"1000 and streaming on the new ESPN Chicago AB. With hoodies capped Celebrating his wedding anniversary today. Happy anniversary again, you peacock! Now it's time to play are very fun game known as Shot. No shot. Here's Danny shot No shots with happened on ESPN. 1000 Yes. Daniel, Take it away, kid. Gentlemen, Here we go, Our guy, Jeff Dickerson wrote on the NFL Power rankings on ESPN dot com Quote. Cairo, Santos single handedly solve Chicago's kicking crisis signed in late summer after Eddie Pinero suffered a groin injury. Santos has been the bear's best offensive weapon. Through eight games, So I ask you guys shot or no shot? That's accurate. A kicker, a kicker has been the bear's best offensive weapon thus far. Hey, and no shots. Alan Robinson's their best weapon, Darnell Mooney hoodies guy has really come on had been somebody looks like they've got a steel in the fifth round. Yeah, no shot. I don't know, Cap. Who's the most consistent offensive weapon The Bears have had, where you know points are going on the board. Santos right again. We needed a kicker. They gotta kicker. Hallelujah. It took long enough to find one. No, don't do that now, you know, but listen. Once you have one he needs hallelujah. Should be a little louder. Yeah, I want to get a little Baptist. With that. You give me a little church in Christ, You've got to give me a little something, man. It's a lot of hallelujah to then meth. We needed one. That guy is his automatic when he kicks the ball, I miss confident in him as I was in gold. Okay, There's a reason that he has bounced around from this team to that team. To that. It's like relievers their failed starters in Major league baseball, but they throw hard and then they find a home and they're really good One year and the next. You're like That the same guy? Yeah. I'm not ready to anoint him. Yes, I'm glad he's kicking for us. Now. We have mean don't know for sure if we found our guy. Tell you what, Danny? No, He's right there in the team photo for me. You think about the top offensive weapons for this Bears team. He's got to be in the team photo because every time he kicks the ball, I've got confidence and he's getting it done by and by the way, like like by not just in the forties in the fifties, as far as his kicks her concerns so Moody's there Robinson's there. But Santos in the team photo. I'll say this cap. Your answer is is applying to future. This question was about the present and in the president, he has to be the Bears offensive weapon. He's accounted for 57 total points of this Bears offense. Where is you know? Alan Robinson scored three touchdowns at six points apiece. That's 18 points. Now I know Al Robinson helps move the ball, and he's a great guy for Nick Foles to get the ball out to when he's in trouble. But offensively, the point is to put up points in this often struggles that doing so and with 57 total points on the season. I think Santos has to be the right answer. Yes, most teams. Most teams go look. Att there kickers and they score the most. I would say. Look at Patrick Mahomes. How many points is he put up with his arms arm every week, you know. If you have a good quarterback, the answer should be the quarterback. Yeah, Yeah, I'm I'm not asking if he's the guy in the future. I'm just saying right now, through eight games, the question was, he's the best offensive weapon. 57 points. The answer's got to be. Yes. Yeah. Alan Robinson. For me, It's an absolute no shot. Oh, it's all right, gentlemen. The most sacks by a single team in one game is 12. It's happened five times in NFL history shot or no shot. The Tennessee Titans make it six on Sunday when they face in a mobile. Nick folds behind a makeshift offensive line. How about I just say no shock to be optimistic Cap. How about no shot? And I'm going to say shot because on terrified of what's going to happen, I really am like I'm looking at it going, OK, We get gas in the run game. They've got a God beast named Derrick Henry and they got a good old line..

"Because I'll just jotting down during the break. Some teams. I know that the Bears are better than as faras who wouldn't want Alan Robinson as their lead wide receiver. Who wouldn't want Alan Robinson right Right now. New Orleans would say We'll take Michael Thomas. Okay, I get it. There's very few you would take over al round. There's a handful. Julio Jones Yes, Davante Adams. They're pretty similar players, and he's got Aaron Throne room. Our guy has Mitch, so there's a big disparity. Not a lot, though he's top 10 right if he's top 10 if he's tanned, he stopped in what but whatever it is, who wouldn't want to have Al Robinson on their team? So that's the number one thing. Coming into the season cap and I were going through the personnel for the looking at the Bears, and we're saying Well, wait a minute out. So Robinson's one guy that's a cornerstone for the offense. But there are question marks about Graham question marks about commit question marks about about Anthony Miller, who I'm still not sure. I think the jury's still out, agreed after what we saw in Detroit Awesome. Awesome love that big catch, but he let Mitch down. He'll himself down mean it's one thing to have a bad day Sunday 003 targets and zero I'm still waiting for that second guy for Mitch. And that was that's really what holds the team back. If you think Mitch is bad, great, But if you think Mitch is trying to get better by the Fuller from the first couple of games this season That's good, too. But he can't take another step unless he has more weapons at his arsenal. More than just Robinson. More than just Montgomery agreed. It's gonna be more than that. So it all works in concert. We could easily just do. The show of Mitch is garbage and let's move on. But We should be able to look at Mitch and say Okay, how you gonna make Mitch better? That's because his weapons have to be better and more productive. 3123323776 and Dylan's in Cedar Falls. He's first. Hey, Dylan, what's up, man? I think we can be just as good if they weren't 2018 maybe make a run when you look at our team right now is that point unfinished product but to win we had this year. You know if it's the last year or two games lose, so Figure a few things. Now we've got a running game better than it was last year. Probably better than I want. 2018 agreed. Get a few guys to step up on the glass, half full type of guy, but I think we can definitely quick. Someone's out. But the team get get mentioned confidence. I think we can win games. I hope that you are right. I think this is a really tough game to win this weekend. I do appreciate you, Dylan. That's a fine. Go ahead. Do what I do. Dylan. Dealing with the coffee here. Oh, he cocked. It was like I didn't cough. I didn't clear my throat The don't be on edge today. As it's Dylan, Listen to the show. It's pretty good. Thank you quickly quickly. This is an important staff. When we talk about the bears in the offense. I know a lot of people always want to turn to. The Bears have a stout defense. They can win the Super Bowl of Mitch could manage. Listen to this stat. Through the first two weeks of this NFL season, the NFL said it will record for overall touchdowns and offensive touchdowns. Which is a wild stat because with no preseason, it usually takes more times for the offenses to gel and catch up to the defense's. But this year, it's clear a team with an offense is gonna win the Super Bowl. And that's why the Bears having other weapons. Besides, Alan Robinson is so important. It really is. I wrote down guys, some teams. I think the Bears are better than from an offensive standpoint. Or at least I believe they're going to be better than went to the bottom, right? I went with Washington. Min Hsiu in Jacksonville, even though they're looking interesting. It's an interesting looking football team. I don't think it's sustainable. I wrote down the Jets the Giants. I took New York out real quick. Catch those two right there gone. So bad, horrible, so bad, horrible. So I went Bengals and I wrote down the Panthers on a roll down the Broncos so far. Those team quarterback got all messed up about the Eagles. They just lost. Their third offensive lineman now goes on the injured list tour out for the season. This guy could come back three weeks from now. The quarterback play has been Lousy gives us in Sal pal with key Jay will and Zuman, and he's like dude in Philly. They are begging the bench. Carson Wentz, They can't stand him 15 and 14. His last 29 starts. Who happens, We have key injuries. This is what happens right? Carson against Carson wins his problem. It's not his problem Rights, not but he's 15 14. We think we think we've got problems here. About their got injury on top injury in the old line, the quarterback's playing lousy Their own to use don't want health and ineptitude at the same time with the bears, you take to know, But here's the question. The whole thing is was more question marks an actual answers with the bears offensively, and so I looked at those those a number of teams. I'm still working on this list, but there's a number of teams. Still I would take over the bears over, I would say the Bears. Are better than those teams I mentioned. I'm still working on that list. You mention the Panthers? Okay. He did. At Bridgewater. They're just they're just restarting within Carolina. That is a shot from me at a Yes, he beat the Bears as With the Saints and someone had to throw the football probably should have stayed in New Orleans. That's like a Z there ever taste him? Hell, someone's gonna carve up that bears defense. Somebody's going to do it. Okay, if you take Carson Wentz Yes, His last 29 starts. He's 15 and 14. He was not the guy there when they won the Super Bowl because he was injured. What do you think Mitch is record is his last 31 starts. It's got to be over on 1920 wins isn't 21 in 10? Yeah, that 21 attempt Well, the great thing about failure and I'm not. Please don't come at me. I'm not saying That he's better than Carson went. So he's all I'm saying to you is, if you just look at wins and losses, he's 21 to 10 and the guy they gave 100. Whatever million to like their wedded to Carson Wentz, sure. And there are people in Philly going. He's not. They were saying on King's show. He's not the guy you think he is in that room. He does not galvanized that room. Well, that's an issue the right thing in Philly. Those at least they have a quality back up. They could always go to Nick Foles. Polls will be a wait a minute. He's not there. Oh, that's right. They gave up. Oh, that's right. Then I'm listening to J will love him dearly. Why don't you give a couple snaps to Jalen hurts Sitting frickin high school man. All right,.

"Intended for Gold and Tate knocked down Tape was actually called for pushing off against Eddie Jackson near the goal line That didn't matter. Bears win. Bears Win 17 13 Obie, You're doing a dance at The Bears being to know it's unbelievable how much you were celebrating during the break in here. Well, I'll tell you what I told you. I said right now. I said they're going to be too. Oh no, and the reason they're playing off the three worst teams in the National Football League for about the last 10 years. We're playing two of them. Well, the Giants have been the worst football team in the NFL the last three years. 12 and 36. And Owen won this year. Now, one, too, so make that 12 and 38. So that is a factual statement for the record and in its a combination. It's a team game, and it's a team effort for them to be the worst. They had the worst offense and defense coordinator. I think in the league there, maybe defense today played, you know, they also lost their best player, Stella and they again they That's exactly say Quan Barclay is one of the top 10 players in the league. They lose it. Yeah, right at the beginning that Justus No. You never want to see that. 312981 72 100 Ron and Hazel Crest. You have been waiting longest. Welcome to Hampton O b 7 20 wg and go ahead. How you doing, guy? Thank you. Uh, I just have three comment to make now hang up and listen to you. Comment. Number one, we draft a quality tight end from Notre Dame, and we really don't utilize them at this point. We don't play him. He maybe wanted to target for game. Uh, second of all. We have. The team can't continue going with a quarterback that can't think and really can't perform. He gets nervous in the in the pocket or run around, and he is not the answer. And second of all, I just have some issues with our play calling by the coach After two years of being a coach, it's almost like you. Coming off as a rookie. And I'll end up living TV coming. Thanks. Appreciate it, Ronnie. You're spot on. Espada. He is he is you singing the Hamp. It'll be national anthem right now. That is true. The Cole commit thing. I don't know what is real. What I just said about 10 minutes ago. Tight ends. We bring Graham men we draft this kid Cole commit And and what do we do to utilize the Titans in our passing game? No. Do we go downfield with Joni? No. Almost only it was almost like a if you could take out snippets in Detroit. So basically trying to throw the ball to the tight ends. He was doing a five yards behind them. On a number of occasions. Today, Coca Mat got his first catch of his career. Congrats, but You know, Jimmy Graham is the guy. They paid a fortune to come in and get the majority of the playing time. And even though you know the 21 set, which is too tight ends, one back is what we need to be utilizing Mohr on a regular basis. It's almost and folks. You see this in politics a lot. You see people trying to dazzle their peers. They're not trying to really get votes or they're they're trying to do and say thanks. That will make other people in their circle their industry go. Oh, wow, That's clever. That's smart, but rather than do what you're supposed to do to win a game, and unfortunately, it's almost like Matt. Maggie is so hung up and caught up in trying to be clever and the wizard and and go with all these different sets and do all this. You know, creative off the off the wall kind of things that he forgets that the most important thing about an offense is Having a certain you know. Poor and a fundamental that you can say, Hey, it's the fourth quarter and this is what we're going to do and burn the clock and beat your butt and we don't have And that's why today we go Zippo in the second half, one of most in trickle positions in a passing game. The last I would say 15 20 years, if not longer is the tight end. Ah, lot of times. What do you see folks, So I get to watch Kansas City and some of the great teams passing teams. What do you see it tight and do what is that a strong or weak sight or enough Lakers or a slap position or out of the white out? They put him in motion. So the stronger to the weak side. Do you see us? You lodging are tight ends. Not only in that fashion, but how are we? Why are we not splitting The zone's going downfield? Why are we not utilizing the tight ends? All you have to do is watch TV, watch the other teams and take a look at us. It's I mean, it's laughable. It's absolutely laughable. Just for the record. Jimmy Graham today was targeted one time had one catch for 18 yards. So I'm wondering. Jimmy probably is not thrilled tonight. It's bark. It's one of most in trickle passing formations and positions in the passing game is a tight end. Cole commit was targeted. One time had one catch for 12 yards. Dimitrius Harris was targeted one time and that one did not work out. So we targeted the tight end three times stay. Al Robinson, who deserves a ton of targets had the most today nine. And of course, we have the interests. Interception, where Robinson normally makes that catch that was not traditional, are not going to convert on third downs. Not unless we start utilizing our Titan situation. If we're just not we stink at it. 312981 72 100 Rob in Hoffman Estates. Welcome happen. O b 7 20 wg end Go ahead. Hey, guys. Thanks so much. I'll be brief. I've got four points, much of which has been talked about before. I grew up throwing ice balls when I was in college with guys, Packer fans and soldier field so and now I'm 60. But I'll tell you what play Management clock management last week we saw them score too early. Okay. Scoring too early is the problem and they couldn't maintain it. Detroit could have and should have won that game today. We saw poor clock management again. It couldn't protect the league. OK, so that point number one point number two. Can we use the blitz? Afew more times more than once. How many times have they blitz today? And it was successful. What happened to the What happened to the Big D? Secondly, we've got a guy named Robiskie. He did his fourth year and the goal the summer was for him to learn footwork, don't you? Don't you learn footwork your first or second year? I'm sorry, Truth that would be in high school in his head. Yeah. Yeah, Travis Key down the bench, hanging his head. Last time I saw Tom Brady when they were down 10 points and we have the lead. He's up and down the sideline, motivating this guy's worth leadership. Okay, So that's my That's my main comment. He doesn't have any confidence and I'm sorry. Nagy doesn't know football because this is the second week in a row. We're gonna look at the game clock. It wasn't me there. You know, if I have to hear this again, I'm jumping off the roof. We need Nick Bold and we need a young quarterback. That's what I'm saying. Today, guys. Thanks for I appreciate it. And everywhere you look around the league, The young kids are doing well in driving. Unfortunately. The player we selected not so much that 11 last thing you know, this team is not divorced of talent, but we do the worst job of any A lot of teams in the NFL. Utilizing our don't tell Mac was turned loose on a blitz today. I don't know what planet you're on O B. But if I'm the offensive coordinator, I say nobody turns him loose. I don't care if the stadium catches on fire, but that's how bad The Giants were we that was open and right before you know, getting after that, nobody blocked. We did it one time and then it's like, Oh, we're too smart to do it again, cause coming up every six o'clock. We'll continue with her phone calls $3129817.7200. "Extent lead his way inside the 20 yard line. Robinson and others have come along to the air. This is a 22 yard pick up in their business That's talking about Alan Robson right there in the slot. Rob, pay that man his money. As they say in rounders. Hey, that man his money 3123323776 We're talking Alan Robinson Chicago Bears will get to baseball where we have to first place teams and Pat 40. I mean, he's just dialed in as they come in college football. Good morning. Big 10 fans today Looks like your day. Sources tell s I now that Sports illustrated now that a returned for fall football is expected to be announced today. Perhaps before noon. ABC News is saying the plan has been approved, so we'll keep you posted, but it looks like looks like we're getting big temple The first two weeks of the college football season felt a little bit. Ah. Uneven. I mean, we need a big 10 means Yes, yes, he needs to beat somebody in the national championship game. Wow. Back to you, Cap. You're such a guy. Let's go to Ah, A lot of choices. They're about Grand Rapids, Michigan. Beautiful Grand Rapids. Chicago. Joe. Hey, Joe. What's up? Hey, What's up, fellas? Janet, take here on the Wide receiver issue with the Bears. To me the whole situation if you want to Pam, but you don't over pound Why My thing is with the Bears. I think great white receiver should be paid along with great quarterbacks, because if you look at the league and the way the league's going, you don't see the Pittsburgh Steelers resigning receivers. You don't see the noon with Patriots resigning receivers. You don't see the Baltimore Ravens resigning receivers. Because they got they've always been stable. A quarterback tight end Offensive tackle. And I just think that you can find a wide receiver. When you have that quarterback That's gonna win you a Super Bowl, which this one's not And once you get a Ah quality quarterback. I just think that white receivers they make your wide receivers better. And so, yeah. Alan Robinson needs to be paid because he's a great player. I just wouldn't overpaid for. All right, Joe. Thanks, Joe. Yeah, You know, some people consider why receivers a dime a dozen. I know I don't. I think if you have a cornerstone guy for your offense, that's a good thing. Don't don't use the green bait model and say, Let's have Valdas scandal. Ing is one of your receivers and it's good enough, right? Aaron Rodgers deserves better in Green Bay. He wishes he had a cornerstone like Robinson on his team. He's got one guy, one guy, but he needs more. Agreed to go to. Uh Ah. How about James Enriched in park, eh, James? Good morning, James. Um, it's just this is my take on this. When you think about the ship travel bears in order in their organization, I think of them as Neighborhood candy store among all these big black bucks stores in just the mentality, this organization half its life, Do they really want to win? Do they really wanna win? Or they just want to be long? They're part of the crew. They're fine. I mean, But what now? Again? I'm not questioning your opinion. I'm just asked had this old school mentality that they refused to get bitten off. What does that mean? They have never been cheap. They pay all their guys. Oh Cutler 126 Million Julius Peppers, the highest paid contract in free agency 91. It's always that one. This one saying they don't want weird. They don't wanna win this or this or this is the worst ran organization wants us rain organizations in the they get. This might become mentality that they refused to let go. I mean, I just really need to sell the team. Oh, it is. It is thruster. Why are we debating this hated man? Couple of $21 million back for that. Are you kidding me? Our James. So this is what I'm talking about, Captain like you just named three or four guys. They did pay at the top, but for him, it's an issue with the McCaskeys because we had this called yesterday. People want him to sell the team. Well, they're not selling the team. And what George McCaskey. I want him to be closer to rocky words than Michael McCaskey. The late Michael McCaskey is and I want him to be firmly entrenched with the team understand what the players want with the organization and try to modernize organization. I think they have when you have a financial commitment. That is one thing for sure Robinson is going to get paid, but I would like for naggy or for Ryan pasted, nip this in the bud and just say, you know where negotiations would definitely want Robinson with us for the long haul, And if that is and then if that is a situation where you're tagging him there tagging him, But you want to address this, so this is not an ongoing issue all season long, correct. I would hope that Ryan came out today and said, Look We love Alain. We're working to get a deal done. Everyone needs to just relax. They don't have a history of holdups in this organization, right? Everybody gets paid A Rob's coming off an A C l they gave him 42 million. Cody White hair Your deals coming up done. Pick the guy Charles Leno done. They they've spent they spend in the cap. They spend money. But you doesn't mean they spend it the way you can understand why fans will be triggered when they see a story like this. This is nothing that you and I made up. Is this something that Robinson is agent put together and his team mates feel the same way, like, pay that man his money, Okay. Oh, eventually it's going to happen is not gonna happen on your timeline play that me and his money. That's exactly right. Talent. Teddy KGB. Speaking of Teddy KGB, Teddy Greenstein of the Tribune, just tweeting. Today is the day Big 10 fans no more effing around. All right. There you go. Take that is officially back to the phones and Danny and Rolling Meadows. Hello, Danny. Okay, Well, yeah. Robinson has no leverage here. This is a distraction. The bears absolutely do not need honestly, I don't care if he gets paid or not. Because again, he has to stand on. This is a distraction he's causing and without problems is the last thing we need. He'll get his money, but For him to go out to make a big deal about it on social media is just beyond me handle this internally with the organization that cause any more distractions. Appreciate the call any time that you're taking your stuff down off of Instagram, and you're just Alan Robinson athletes and not Helen Robinson bear and that's just a bad look. I don't think it's anything that I would do. There's a way to negotiate behind the scenes without making yourself the story. He rather not. I'm sure that he rather not, but this is the planet are going with and keep in mind. Look at that. Look at the phone calls. Look at the reaction on social media to us on this show about every single line lift. People love Alan Robinson, and they should, and they don't want a guy that's beloved. To feel like he's being shortchanged. Correct. The tag feels like a short change. CORRECT does know it's generational money. 18 million eyes is it's generational money, but to them to our fans. They want him to be taken care off, and he should be taken care of. My point is, he will be You will be, But that's not what fans want it now and you can understand why they love him. They love him and he's earned their love cap. He will be so long as he doesn't sustain any type of injury that hinders play going forward. What if your Al Robinson you could heat? Look, I don't know if you got us all last weekend on Saturday. All these you know Cup Delvin cook Alvin Kamara. This is the time when NFL franchise extend their players because they know other cap situation is as they head into the regular season and so All we heard about was, Oh, don't worry..

"He goes every single day, he said. I thought it would be a way to force their hand. They'd have to pay me. There were other good players around the next man up. They obviously won the Super Bowl. Without me. He goes and whether I got my money, which he did. He got paid after that. I can never make up a the year I missed B. I never made that money back. He said. It was a stupid, dumb decision. Well, Robinson is not that guy. He's not sitting up. He loses his year service time. He loses his 14 million if he doesn't play, so he's going to play. He's a leader in that room. They know that they know the caps coming down. They know Well, Mitch is a really good year. We don't want to give him some mega deal because we got to make sure that he's truly that guy. If he's no good, we got to go get a guy. Let's just figure this all out. And then we don't. Maybe Allen's asking for 26 year when this market is 20 figure it out. All I'm telling you cap is that for the average fan that works the 9 to 5 or dealing with family, all they want to find out is as thumbs up or thumbs down. Al Robinson, right, Correct. I don't want the granular detail. They don't want you to get into the weeds financially. They just want to know And when they get a chance they can get they on ESPN dot com. And they see Dan Graziano, who has been a frequent guest on the station and on this show when Graziano says that earlier Tuesday that Robinson form the Bears that he would rather be traded. If the two sides cannot reach an agreement on an extension. Chicago Tribune also reported Tuesday that Robinson, who's the final year of his contract, has requested a trade. And when you see even that paragraph trade when you see that twice in the same paragraph for you know whether that you can or cannot reach on agreement on extension. Your fans are like, Well, wait a minute. That's my guy. So you can understand why social media will be will be set on fire in there, saying, Wait, This is one of our cornerstones of the offense. We can't let that guy go. What's the Bears doing? And so no matter what the fans will be on the side of the player, and that's why you have that angst. And it's a It's a good emotion because you're emotionally invested in the team. Correct well and hoodies point. That's the leverage. Like. Look, I understand what you're saying Cap is that he has a contract and it's too much money for him to sit out game checks. I completely agree with you there, but the leverage that he's applying what little it maybe. Is to create some unrest inside that locker room, and that's what you have yesterday with the fans. Yes, yes, He also Khun B. Tagged for three years. I'm well aware of that. Listen, if they get to the point where they're tagging him a 2nd 3rd season that'll be extreme, like lucrative for him. Next year's 18 million is the top players don't want that. They want that we talked about it last want to guarantee my horse and In football. I can understand that you want guaranteed money in a brutal game. Guys put their bodies on the line every Sunday. You never know what it could be your last Sunday, so you want guaranteed money That makes sense. Oh, what The leverage he has is creating a situation here. Where? Taking down, you know, scrubbing his social media presence of any bears you no references. That in itself is a bit of leverage because he's got players to on his team in his his in his wide receiver room, saying, pay this man and that is like weather like the Bears don't have to act on it. Certainly, But don't you want a receiver who is A leader on this team to be happy when he goes to work every day. But clearly he's not because it became a story line in Lake Forest. Correct leverage. That's not that was not on our radar at all this week until two Rico on your guide, by the way, your guy he's a mensch to Rico. And there he is, you know, once again spouting off, just like pay pay that man and then here, Darnell Mooney, a rookie kid. Dad. It's out of it yet. He needs your fifth round draft pick. You need to just go up them. Go, Dude, I'm a 50. I got your back here, but I don't have to stay out of this. Danny. What did Joey bows to say? On hard knocks when they were dealing with? I think Derwin James. It was it was Melvin Ingram. He was not practicing. He was holding out. He wanted new money. Ask Joey boasts about it, Joey Bosa said. Listen, I'm here to play football. That's the business side of it. I'm just here to keep my head down and play football. And that's what the Bears should be doing in that locker room because they have to prepare for the Giants with a weak Mitch Strabinsky and a quarterback and all the storylines that we've been talking about. The last thing they need right now is a distraction and to be commenting about Alan Robinson's money, See, this is what I do not want and weak one. It's enough. Now we have this consternation about Travis Key foals who's better? Who's best? The offensive line the offensive weapons? How the Bears can win a football game on Sunday, and now you add this to the mix. Isn't that what now He wants to address every day. But he is now Is it a distraction? Clearly, it is because it's on social media. Clearly someone thinking about a distraction that room they go to work and they play foot. That's what these businessman is. This happened 40 billion times in professional franchises. I want more money. I'm not getting my money like Is it a distraction in the Cubs locker room that none of those guys they're signed? No, they just go to work and play. It's a conversation, though, at the lunch table, I'm sure yeah, but when they step on the field They're playing. They're there to do a job. He is a different question along the same lines. Right. So you say that Alan Robinson is a top 10 wide receiver. Top 12 ft. The work If he's 10 he if he's a top 10, he's 10 Top 12. He's 11 or 12 because in Greece y I and Miller, I will lean on you on this right. I'm a financial standpoint or just a person or a production standpoint. So if I hit you with Julio Jones, who got signed, right, Julio Jones, a big deal 22 million or Michael Thomas or Amari Cooper with 20 million, write some of these other guys. DeAndre Hopkins, Keenan Allen Cooper Cup. Like, Where is Robinson amongst the best? I think the core look like when you look at Ellen Robinson is great. We've seen you know the catch radius that he has its amongst the best in football. He is a very good. I think he's proven in his time here in Chicago that he is a number one wide receiver that Mitch can count on. And you need that. If you're going to be a functioning offense, I think sure. DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones, Michael Thomas. Those guys are kind of, you know they're at the elite level and match above. But I think when you look at the talent, you look at what Davante Adams is doing in Green Bay. Like Davante. Adams is amongst the best football isn't in the best receivers in football. I think Alan Robinson is just as good as Davante Adams. Helen Robinson just doesn't have Aaron Rodgers throwing him the.

Let's go to got a blue daughter down Exactly. Two Derrion in Berwyn Heydarian. What's up, sparkles? Hey, How you doing? Thanks for taking my call. Guys. I just want to get my take on the Bears game yesterday. They looked a lot like the 2019 bears for the first three quarters about a lackadaisical football. They were better running the ball, at least. They were, but But the thing is seeing the whole talking about next golden and true Biscuit E. And what are they going to do with the quarterback position? It's time to stop. It's time to stop blaming tradition and political blame on the play, calling Ah, a lot of lackadaisical football. No sense of urgency. The defense was non existent. So that interception in the fourth quarter another being Hollis, with that wide open on prevent defense that makes no sense. You have to establish the run. Um But the bearsoffense a lot of their plea is predicated on speed, so you have to give him an open space. What else? Fourth quarter. Mitch, we looked like that to be the bear. Where to go. He was done with his conversation. I guess he was right about. He's right about Miller. You know, in our analysis, I said, Who's the other receiver? Besides, Robinson is going to be able get the job done. Miller got the job done. Mooney got the job. You see what Naggy and Travis Key said about Miller after the game. Here's Negandhi TD pass to Anthony Miller. And I'll tell you what they were talking about on this side. What I love about our guys and our team. And you know me being around more. The offensive guys during a game is they're coming over to me, and you're telling me you know I could beat this guy could be that guy when you have that input. You have that confidence from your fires. You just You love that as a coach, and so Anthony Miller Al Robinson, all these other wide receivers that were over there. They just really liked their matchups. And, of course, you've got to make the throat so I just appreciate their willingness to keep fighting. No one ever had their head down. They didn't care about the score. They just know that they want an opportunity to fall. And when you get that opportunity, you've got to make the most of it. They did that Mitch made two throws. You know whatever was three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but when we needed it, most guys stepped up, and sometimes that's how you win. We did that. Here's Mitch on that place was actually the same. Same exact around, just trust their formation and all that. It was the same end zone and same side of the field, so it's kind of it's kind of weird. I just trusted him. You can tell me all games. Trust me. Trust me. Stick with me. Andrea got safety and put in a place where he could. He could make a plan made a phenomenal cash. So A lot of credit goes to the line for just giving this time out for intimate. It was really similar to the one I trust me. Trust me because of our play calling or trust me. Trust me, it's the Lions will find a way. Or trust me. Trust me. I will not let you down. If you put it there, I will come up with the catch. And he did. It's interesting down 23 to 6. You feel demoralized because he couldn't move the ball. The way you wanted to all day. And, like Maggie was continued. We read Mm q B this morning and just how Nagy was still into it. You know what? You got there a touchdown here, kid. He told him right before that play. You're going to throw a 27 year touched down right here. It's amazing. And as Mike Tannenbaum, who had been a GM of two different teams in the league said that was a big boy. Throw that one. That was a big boy. Throw. Good to say we got it back to the phones. 3123323776. Let's go toe Aaron. He is listening on the app, which you should download the new ESPN Chicago, Erin, Uh, All right, Erin, we get you gotta cost back. You've got a bad cell man. I know he's been holding bad cell that sells. You know when you around the stripper poles in Atlanta harness on the north side. Honest. What's going on, Wagner? Hey, guys, how you guys doing today? I didn't hear your whole program, so I may be bringing up some points that have already been brought up. So excuse me for that. But I wanted to see what you guys knew anything about the meeting, Mac called on the sidelines. It seemed that spurred the defense to wake up. I also wanted to comment about to re colon and a putt earlier in the game, where he let it bounce, you know, and he's got about six guys around and then he comes over near it. It was You know, he was close enough that if that ball bounce to hit him, they'd all got the ball point. Yeah, And I also want to say Hicks look totally guessed at the end of that game, that if if they had to go in over time, Trust me. Maybe not hadn't been out there and I do want to come in. Stafford is truly a great quarterback. That's that's all I have to say. I can't go with great for Matthew Stafford never won a playoff game. Not great. He's a very solid quarterback. Danny put, you know he's a bulldog. Danny feasible. Do you know what he's like? Tear to quarterback in the NFL? And if that's military or too That's how I look at so that would make him top 15. If he's 14 or 15. That's fair. Not fair for a great effort, agree. Then he put this on the pole at ESPN 1000. I was still making harnesses. Still making Honus is in our world. Guysnames, Honus. Pretty cool, huh? I mean, who are we still making the kid's name? Honus, Right. Hey, honey, when you want to name the baby, Honus, you call them Wagner for a reason, because that goes back to 19. Twenties. Yeah, like like that takes this thing. Are we still making a Honus? He said, Well, it's a family name. My grandfather had this trading card. Ah, Grandmother like that..

"Is still not ready for full team work at a full part of patient level. L. Robinson missed the last two practices so you can do the math when it comes to personnel packages and who you're throwing out there that these guys are getting a lot of looks from the quarterbacks and Look, I know Adam Adam wrote about it today for us, But I'll say this guys, it cannot be anywhere close to his battles. It was last year. It's such a low bar for these for Graham and commit. I think Dimitri's Harris on his own. He's gonna have more receiving yards any bears title last year. I don't think there were 24 individual tight ends that had more receptions in passing yards. Better than the Chicago Bears did as a team from the position. I mean to me. That was absolutely not such as appalling, so the title and position would be greater with with Val Robinson down with injuries have any of the wide receiver stepped up to say We want to be the other guy opposite of Al Robinson catching balls. You know your go again would training camp settings. Wide receivers usually look pretty good, right? Everybody looks good in short corners are not playing that physical coverage. I'll be honest guys, the one who has stood out the most, Darnell Mooney. The rookie out of Tulane. He is shot out of a cannon when he catches the ball. Just that acceleration is really impressive. Eso. I'll point him out. I've been impressed with again and I will say this about again. It hasn't been like these 50 yard bombs. It's been just kind of certain shorter route in the one on one drills in the end zone, just his crafty you can tell the guy's been a league for a long time. I haven't seen a ton from Riley. Really? You know, when I was, I think all of us were very looking forward to seeing what he was going to be able to do again haven't seen a ton. Jim. I win split, all right. They keep pumping him up that they believe that you know, he's still going to be a part of this rotation. But I do think I will. I will copy out. All of the guys with the players are mentioning. There's some question marks. Still, I mean these air either unproven players or someone like again. Who's you know you don't want to begin to be necessary Getting 60 to 70 targets a year. It's still gonna be on. You know Al Robinson, Anthony Miller to be fully healthy and to be kind of leading this office, But you know, the more help they can get in If Donald money can really, really play right away for them. "Sure quarterback but it just looks at all right well now here is his he's gone to what he's done in the fall of the whole goal map open our way how good are you afterwards got just don't thank you yeah I think that he's got to make adjustments you want to get the ball to go when you still have to do it and opportunities but you do have other guys you want to make sure they get the ball sure but Colin's a key factor so is al Robinson so is David Montgomery you got a cab straight out yet the give me your key guys on offense. go over to like Jerry and now. thereby nude Bourbon neighbor bonus. I wanted to say that we definitely have major cause for concern because everybody wants to talk about your busy involved in the same sentence right well I'm not taking anything away from home but let's think about it objectively okay Ella Robinson is not pay retail trade Bernie is not Kelsey Maggie is not read or we can just keep going out on a lot of double it so every match cannot find ways to progress and and pre snap read a defense and and just progress all these quarterbacks have in the NFL it's a big major cause for concern and then so roll on top of that a lot of something that people seem to not talk about because of all of their sales are terribly afraid of it is guess what we more is our future Annette all those good picks we gave the San Fran and although Oakland. your best your campaign work we're looking at a rough couple years so give we're not real Clinton friend so are you saying that you don't believe for a biscuit under any culture regime what is going to be the right guy or do you think that Mitch has it in him but these guys are bringing it out of what you're you're saying I'm a little I'm with you but what you're saying. it's it's hard to tell because it's just weren't we've gotten spoiled over the last couple years the young guys my god and where and mom homes at all these started making these huge. and second of third year lease that is not happening that your best you so we do need to be patient but it's like I do it's like this the NFL now we got the defense to win how. the patient we are back in the first hour this little miss a lot Gary we ask the fans when can you make an educated evaluation of Mitch Stravinsky right now twenty eight games end of the year forty two games or give them next year also end of twenty twenty fifty eight games are just so you can do it now end of the year our end of next year. the end of next year. what what what what what what we gave up for him you got to give them as much time and again that's still since the days on what you gave up form as opposed to what might be best but yeah it's reality that's reality right I don't good job thanks buddy I just wanna make sure I get this in because we were talking about this stuff already get into more baseball and the white Sox and all the other stuff. I year everywhere. that the defense is great and I went back to watch the Denver game. did the defense stopped the Denver Broncos in the second half. I mean it was the interception of the goal line that was a great play as ball was overthrown right it was great for the drug what about an opportunity like it right now right it actually right sold counselor great interception on a ball that was overthrown by Denver March the fourth quarter of Denver March up and down the field Floyd who I love the way he's been doing he could hold out a one interception and I'm third down at Denver thank converted a fourth in ten oh four didn't tell me what what well you know the defense was tired you know the solution is to get off of the damn field stop the opposition now with the bears defense is doing a really good job of because our words as well they were given a lot of points they're doing a really good job of bad but don't break right there Benton but don't break and I got that's fine if that's what you want to do but if you have a dominant defense is that what you consider domination bent but don't break they were completed Joe Flacco was completing passes over the middle against this bears defense all game long were they giving them those passes. average number beyond tomorrow with Steve Mongo McMichael is gonna be here from ten to twelve and I would ask him because I haven't seen the defense is a great defense they gave up almost three hundred yards passing the Joe Flacco added a great defense doesn't do that here's Jeff Dickerson earlier this week and he says well it's gonna be tough for the bears to win even was there that is my tie into your Fred it's gonna be tough for the bears to win big even with their defense if it's can going to be a giant fax offense this is what everyone said it was of the utmost importance that the offense improve in two thousand nineteen because you can't always rely on Kyle fuller making a goal line saving interception in a game you still almost ended up losing later on like like the turnovers are awesome and they happen but it could you know the offense has to pick up the slack here because you can't go I don't think I could be wrong I don't think you can call the whole season with this defense running the John fox offense and win a Superbowl I don't think you can do it if they're gonna be a real championship contender this offense is got to be better they've got to score more points there has to be a better threats on offense that's my feeling others will disagree but I don't think this defense alone is going to win the bears a Superbowl but Fred says the defense has to tighten up also I definitely think that the fed has to tighten up and I and I understand there's some great stuff the deeper the other teams know how good the bears defense is okay Khalil Mack leads the NFL in pressures this year with fifteen you may not have seen of all because he's not getting some of the sax and they're not getting the turnovers as a result of that but he's got fifteen pressures that leads the NFL okay I understand they're good defense but they're not as good as everybody seems to be made. he them unless I'm missing something and it's I'm not I'm not I'm not the most brilliant guy in the world so I could be missing what everybody else to see him and when it when I saw that remark Denver first possession marches down the field fourth quarter marching down the field I don't know that that wasn't a great defense in my opinion Khalil Mack we got some numbers here no John to one of the guys over at sports info solutions dot com I got this yesterday from about inept bad manager in easily of a football guy over there his hands in defense of stuff sort of backs you up a little bit your friend first he says that no surprises here the bears best pass rushers are Khalil Mack he leads the team with four patch pass rush points this is how they do it right right four pounds rose points he's not as safety said those points on seventy seven rush snaps and he has just one sec so far but tied for his the keys seventh in the NFL was sizing QB hits for two games a pass deflection are these numbers indicate we can expect the sex to continue coming at a high rate and here's something fresh Roque quien Smith has been the bears best ready for this past defender. so far this year didn't sit at one time a digit now he leaves a bears and tackles with eighteen all right best past defender and eighty coverage plays covered snaps he's been targeted seven times and responsible for eight point four coverage point save that's the way they do it on those seven targets opponents have just three point four yards per attempt what they call a forty one percent positive player raise a lot of numbers there but role Clyde Smith is not just the run stuff for or the lateral left and right running down guys on sweets he's also the best yes the thunder right now the way they look at it over at the sports involve solution he's also played every snap wow every step in Denver he's been in the field for a hundred and forty five a hundred and forty six defensive plays this year and he leads the team in tackles with eighteen I lover once you have that isn't what rogue wants me this do it is great I just I it surprised me that Denver was able to walk up and down the field the first half all right in the first possession and that again in the fourth quarter when they needed to score they marched down the field and scored member I toward a policy weeks ago fans voted yes broke once move faster then Brian lacquer on the field that was the result managed buffalo Grove is next. yeah I have it on the net. this is a good point that you're mentioning that the the very common in Benton that break mode yeah I think the only different than last year's really they're missing the turnover I noticed that that they've only given up five down one third down and you can combine it's pretty amazing the defense is doing while they may be dismissed the turnover but they're putting more this year. dial I hang up and listen thank you yeah I do think they gave up the one on fourth down which was kind of aggravating to me they look the you know after after Floyd could not hold on to the interception and aid that got overlooked all week because the bears won the game and their got to really kick and everything else but they were sent forth in ten in the fourth quarter yeah and the bears in Denver converted to pass over the middle and it's like okay a great defense doesn't allow that. I'm sorry maybe my body term you know my understanding of great is different than everybody else's understanding of great next time we have a an expert on let's ask you this Fred and everybody when we come back which is more important. take the wages or give away is not tall turnovers which is a very good work because turnover means nothing giveaways and take the ways right now it's one on one with the with the bears there so they're even yeah that's right Hey today is a perfect day looking for a new car head on out the fields Chrysler Dodge jeep ram in Glenview the guys are waitin for you'll get a.

"For sure. There's it's a personal for sure for sure sure. But I don't think you should be able to even officiator games anymore. Honestly. No, no. I don't believe talk about officials or anything. But I think just for him in particular like is he's he's different. He's going to get fined for sure I don't Enron is that good or bad. Does that make Scott foster even more angry and his biased group in when he does? So much more intensely. And maybe I wonder I think for a guy who victimizes defenders like that to play the role of the victim. There is quite interesting little role play that he decided to take or is. He just pulling the Phil Jackson worked the wraps or is it. I mean, maybe I think a coach can get away with key already knows. He's going to get fine. Head and said that what he was a master of that, you know, knowing how to in especially in the playoffs when they got into series. Like Phil was the master of knowing just how far to kind of like just how to get up to the edge and tweet the officials little and get the league thinking and get the refs thinking master offer up in hardened situation is that all games are are referee differently. Oh, he injured a pattern. I guess with Scott foster. I know you'd have to go back and look I'd say all games referee differently. And you've got to understand exactly what is what is it being called? And you know, if you're not willing to change your game with the way things are being called. Yeah. Then it's a grotesque inability to be able to adjust what's happening, and what's not happening. If there's no recognition on the athletes part of what's what's going on on the court. Some guys moved call that that moving pick readily, you know, they don't there's guys in the league that do it that, you know, our task masters when it comes to the pack can't be moving. You've got to be there. You can't be rolling out of it fast. You're gonna call that offense some follow every single time. You've gotta know that. And if you just refuse to know that you just say, well, I'm James harden. I'm MAC Android jasmine game. Because this is the guy that's going to officiate. I dare him to make that call. He's gonna make it say hardens defense. It's widely known in the NBA that Scott fosters the worst official in the league. People have written about it. Gamblers talk about it. People talk about the fact that when Scott fosters on your game, you know, something's going to like go south in your direction because he's that bad of an official. I don't think I don't think it's a specific James harden thing, I think many people in the league think about Scott. He's like the Joe west of the NBA. Yeah. Always the biggest games and getting the most of us. Yeah. That's right. He's still gets the biggest game. So that's why I'm asking you is what what is Lee have him real clue as what you'd have to find turning into late in his career. Joey Crawford when everybody, you know, the players. Yeah. Getting the biggest playoff games, and when they do their they have their evaluations of the calls. He's obviously scoring very well. Yeah. I don't know. So players could think he's the worst or fans. But if he's getting the biggest games that means the league raising our full if you don't adjust. If you don't understand what the official light car, don't like the call. If you don't adjust your game to who the who's officiating then shame on you again today. They're the ones with the whistles. They're the ones that can make the calls when I see guys take five steps, and they don't call it. The to me that's an egregious call when I see a guy tuck it under like, Jim Brown and start running toward the basket. And there's nary a travel to be called Eurostat me. That's that's a brutal call stepping. Then they come out with the well, you could take two steps if you lose the ball, then you can reacquire the ball, then you can reestablish your pivot. What you can do what explain that to me against. I understand it. I can go take two steps for the basket ball my hand, I can pretend bobble it and go get it and reestablish unless somebody swipes it away from you. You can't bobble the swipe on that particular play that I saw at bad what they do need. Sometimes these referees are sleeping sleeping during games. Because I they're up and down up and down to head the dribble. The basketball they get transfixed sometimes so they have referee actually, call stuff and one of the guys thrown. Elbows and guys doing this and guy trying to clear the way doesn't allow. Oh, yeah. He clears all my heavens. Does he do it? He does my he could get called for twelve game. Yeah. But a lot of the great scorers get away with that stuff. Michael Jordan guy, push off as Utah -solutely, and he hit the shine. Absolutely. I understand every once in a while you get a guy that says okay tonight. That's not gonna happen. Right. Right. It's the night. And you think hardens gonna miss the one hundred grand these gonna get fine. Oh, see naked thirty million a year and probably nor closed for harden. It was worth it to get it out there to play the victim in this situation here. And there you go. The manager that gets tossed. I mean, you might as well get your money's worth, right? Toss me I'm getting my money's Earl Weaver was the master at that. Now, you're gonna get it. Now. That's it. All right. I got a question for you. So if Antonio Brown has this reputation of being tough to deal with in the locker room and a bad, but to say, the least right Ken him coming into Chicago where allegedly fifty two others are really good. Can they keep him in line or does one bad apple because a big problem? But you don't have the cap space. First of all put him on your team. So. You from bringing them in here, unless you're going to do something in the trade to sit down Robinson to them. Yeah. I guess that would be clearer fifteen million if we're gonna put fifteen million on. So I mean that if guys wanted to go out and perform he's out there to perform he don't like Ben Rothlisberger. Ben Rothlisberger gets treated differently than in Tonio Brown. Does. I'm sure part of levian bells. Issues had something to do with the way. Ben Rothlisberger gets treated those two guys decided they weren't going to make a stand to the point. Where Levy I'm bell said, I'm not even gonna play the hell what you guys, you know. It's a tough one with Antonio. 'cause he's so good. But he's getting old. You're going to get a change of venue. You've got a new attitude. People have a tendency to appreciate you more. When you go to another place, and you end up getting paid in different place. So I don't think whatever attitude problems took a long time developed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don't think you get that type of package at the guy ends up coming here. Yeah. So, but you've got to you got to clear money to take on that kind of money. And the only guy you're going to be able to clear John Robinson. And do they want Robinson? That's your question. You've gotta ads or you could trade a draft pick to get them. And then move Al Robinson in another deal. You can try all types of things do they really have the draft equity. I'll start. I mean, can they realize? Second pick second round Oakland's pick. Yeah. In twenty twenty. Would you do it? If you could make the money work. I mean, he I feel like he's better than a second round pick. But at the same time next year, he's thirty two years old. I mean, you know, or in two thousand twenty. It's easy to say. Well, of course, the Antonio Brown probably outperforms a second round pick. But that second round pick next year that you're drafting is going to be twenty year old could twenty one year old kid. I mean versus the three we're talking about a big time player one of the top thirty five players new draft. You've also got a analyze what kind of offense. Do you have in where this guy and what direction is this guy been looking at all year? You gotta ask yourself does your offense benefit by having one guy that is the go-to guy. And that's it. And then everybody else gets a little bit of piecemeal stuff. Are you looking for an offense? That's versatile where you can put the ball in a bunch of different directions. Which is what they like to do the minute. You understand what you are? And what you're looking for starts to dictate whether you've got any interest in Antonio Brown and not. So I'd ask with all the targets that happened last June dispersed city, I'm gonna bring a guy, and I'm going to pay him that kind of money that guy's gotta be targeted a hard time. One hundred hundred fifty hundred hundred and fifty. Yeah, you're right. That guy's gotta be targeted ten times game. Yeah. I'm gonna pay that guy that kinda money. Now don't even know if Allen Robinson was targeted that much. I doubt it during way. He may have averaged like eight targets a game where some games he had fifteen targets for fourteen targets. I think his high reception game was ten or twelve that sounds right. So that game specifically it was very targeted. But this is a team that like this is an offense that likes to go a bunch of different directions is known for its versatility also known for exquisite tight end play usually which we didn't see much of this year. You saw Trey Burton give contributions early in the air. And then you saw him pull a Houdini during the year, then every once in a while he'd pop his head in there and most mostly known for Leyton year for not wanting to do things one of them playing a playoff game. I hope that's not the case. I'm just telling you that's what he was known for and not wanting to run a specific play. That's for sure he ran into Super Bowl. All right. I don't get it. He doesn't want to ruin its legacy. He doesn't want to ruin his perfect solution. Presented his legacy was. So either way we Antonio Brian. Let's get back to him. I mean Braun Antonio Brown. Those are the things that you've got identify over the course of time. And that's what Ryan pace in you and your guy Matt Nagy, you're going to have to do. What are we what do we wanna be? Where are we going to be next year the year after that, what is our window? Is it only two to three years that you're going to have Trubisky? And after that you've got to make a decision on them. Then once you pay him your windows over which you could tag him. You'll get Joe flacco. That's why game three years. I gave you the tag year on them that fifty yards. So you get the fifth year option. He gets. Yeah. I Trump pick up fifth year, then you can start by then you're paying them so much money. Making sacrifices everywhere else if you tag them in another three years, that's what twenty eight twenty eight million. How many teams how many players in this team made under a million dollars this year half, which is twenty six. Right. A fifty fifty three. Twenty six twenty seven. Yeah. And the other one's made over a million dollars. Yeah. So twenty six over twenty seven under and that's the balance that you have to keep but you got Coloma here making twenty two million. You got your quarterback making thirty million at some or he will be I well, if you if you franchise tag him, that's what I mean, you're gonna you're gonna be paying that money in a couple of years. If you franchise him, you're talking about a thirty million dollars. He's been here two you got three more years. And then you're going to have to tack to thirty million dollars at that point for the way the quarterback they need to win a Super Bowl in the next three years to see it unless he's great. I mean, if he somehow turns into Aaron Rodgers are drew Brees. I then you deal with it. But you know, I don't know if any of us believe that that's going to happen. So yeah, you better win in the next couple of years. We'll see but what kind of offense. Are you? That's a question. What kind of offense is this west coast? This is not an offense that relies upon one player are they a legitimate Super Bowl contender. I would think is their defense. Is so good. Yes. Yeah. I think there are a playoff contender for sure. Yes. Yes. They are a playoff contender. And once you're in there once you can happen. I would I would say twenty nineteen is going to be back into the playoffs. And let's get to the Super Bowl. That's sure. Looking for. Yes. Go find a freaking kicker. Well, yeah. Rapper. Robert, redford. Sounds like gold is not going to be available. He's gonna get. Good good for IB. Congratulations for him. Get get paid five million. Bring one million kickers in here and have them kick. Find your best they kick it the farthest and say, let's rock and roll. That's it. I don't care who it is. Where it is. What it is. How it is. Just find me somebody that drives the ball thirty uprights not a guy that's trying to ship things through they're taking half wages from sixty five yards because he doesn't have enough confidence..
