"Some guy might sneak something in 34 weeks from now, But Darvish tonight definitely going to be watching that game after the Cubs and And and Indians play, because, yes, I think you're right. Those guys with great spin rates. Let's keep an eye on them. Well, that White Sox team was lives against the Astros. That is, uh, injury street on ineptitude Avenue That was on the cross streets that I saw. That was, anyway, the Astros want to win. They were able to win. So, Jesse, would you say that this is an anomaly? Or do you believe the injuries are catching up offensively? I think the latter is true. I do. I think it's anomaly in terms of the starting staff like I'm not worried about the whites exportation. They got beat up a little bit. A few of them were do let's face it. Guys aren't going to go through the season with 13 E R a cease and Lynn I'm talking about, so I'm not worried about the rotation, but yes, I think it caught up with them. I've said since January, this team is short a left handed back. When they signed eating. I wasn't thrilled. You got off to a decent start. Came down to Earth. Now he's hurt. I still think they need left handed. Help Jake Lamb did it A homer yesterday, Moncada came back at a couple hits. But for the season this team is hitting to the lefties are getting to 17. 2 17. Now they're O. P s is better because Grandal walks like there will be piano But big deal. You need some more damage from the left side. I mean, if the Cubs were to sell, Jack Peterson would look so good there. How about Schwarber Five home runs the last couple of days like There's some names that should be available out there from the left side. That's my big takeaway that when you have these tough writings, and then Novell does picture when you have these tough righties, you need to run into a couple ones. And they weren't able really to do that other than Jake Lamb over the weekend. I think they did get up. Little exposed offensively. Now, Look, this is a sweep in New York. This is a sweep in Houston. I've said like it's good. They need to play these games. But next time, you know, they need to start winning some of these on the road to get ready for October, But this this was a buck kicking. Tony Lewis has said as much afterwards. Hey, you know what? You know why baseball will never die. Happen. And Jesse? You know why? Because of the infusion of young talent. We're going to see wander Franco up here pretty soon here for the for the race number one prospect in the game. How good is that? Jesse like that, and I've been watching some of the College World series seeing Al Leiter's kid Jack, lighter from the right side. This is why baseball will never die because you always see what's next. I love the young talent 25. You're coming into the game, and it's It's getting younger. And it's coming in quicker, more and more, starting to Andrew Miller, the Cardinals last week he's on the executive board. They've got this big Ciba coming up. And I give him credit. He's an older player. The picture Andrew Miller, He's They are going to fight for younger players to get paid quicker, like if you have If you're the working here, like Brian in 16, you don't just get a couple $100,000 raised right. You should be able to make a little bit more money. Before you get to free agency six years later, So actually, a lot of these veterans are going to fight for the young players to get paid quicker. And the big thing is, they're going to fight about that service manipulation time. So if you're ready to come out to make the team out of spring training, you actually make it Instead of being held down, So it's a good observation. J. Hood young players. The game has gone so much younger, and they think if they pay the young players a little bit more, there's still will be some dollars for the veteran players. It's just like They're trying to come up with the right formula where the 33 year old isn't pushed out of the game. Yet the 22 year old does get paid a little bit sooner. Before we let you go in terms of trades, Rick Hahn said last week. Yes, we're looking and we absolutely will be aggressive. Tony came out, said I completely trust the front office. I do think they'll add on How long does jet let this just kind of linger out there? Oh, he'll go through the All Star break like this. There's no doubt so he's not gonna even try and add a competent, decent arm And I'm not talking about Cole Hamels, who's thrown in his alley. Right. You talk about masters if you can get them. Yes. No, he will. But Jose Berrios. Yeah, I don't think anybody's right barriers. I don't think anybody maybe the twins would be ready to trade July 1st. I just don't know if he can pull it off. Before July. Let's put it that way. That's his his brother in law. Make the call, right. You don't know what you don't know where you're going to be. In mid July, you could stand. I think he's got to let it let it play out a little bit longer. But also there's other teams, calling the twins for barriers to let's not forget, but that guy's controllable you've got another year. We tried this. It f in Chicago. Are we trying to win or not? Well, until they mean when they traded garbage. They weren't until they got the first place. You know, more recently, they weren't so now that maybe they are I mean, I'm just saying camp. It's not that easy. Other teams are calling for burials as well. And those teams might Be more desperate. They don't have a world series in their 27. I'm talking over Jesse. He's trying to explain. Just get your book out there and let him explain. My beak wants Jose Berea. Okay, But Jesse is given an explanation. You're interrupting its June. What other big trades? Have you heard in June? It just doesn't happen. Because there's no other first place team that has his crappy rotation. There's plenty that want. Look at the White Sox. There's plenty that need him. There's plenty that needs starting pitching. I'm just saying, Let's get to July That's trading season. So I think it goes towards the All Star break before something biggest pulled and then from there to the end of the month. That's when the action happens. Find how it normally happens by Jesse I don't like your answer. Have a wonderful day. But I do love you. I'm sorry, Jesse. Have a great day, man. He hung up, say he's bad. Say, why did you do that? Let me Do you go? Do you go burials? Arborio says you're it's Maria's He says Burials. Well, it's very, uh okay. Great costumes, is it? You know you, jen. As a geisha. Well, okay. Is that Juan Soto? Or or they're so told Jesse brought to you by the pride stores. 15 Chicago area locations experience the Pride stores. Hey, Ben Simmons, Bulls fans. Yeah, That's next. Barrios. This is calf and.

"Then what? Writer? Official way? No balls. Two strikes two outs in the ninth lion her into the wind, Mr. Wimmer. Here it is. We're gonna miss it's a no hitter for Jack wider. Commodores pour out of the third base dugout and from the bullpen. He struck out 16. And it is my pleasure to welcome to the program and man soon to be known as the second best pitcher in the lighter family from the MLB network here is Al Leiter Back with me on ESPN radio. Good morning, Al. That's good. You know what? It's funny Greeny Because now it's already started. Like you women. You're Jack letters Dad, right, So as a as a father, I love it, and it's pretty cool. I have to admit to watch your son, you know, go out and do what he's doing it. It's been so exciting for all of us, Me and the family everybody else. I can't even fathom it. He's pitching at Vanderbilt and I asked Buster only about it on TV today off the air, Just a mike check. I guess you know, Buster is so proud because he goes to Vandy, which is his alma mater. And he said, I said, you know, give me the scouting report here on the difference, and he said, maybe a little less emotional on the mound than Al Leiter was. Would you describe that isn't an appropriate on appropriate read on the situation. Yeah, that that would be 100% accurate. So greeny definitely took on my wife's personality. I was bit of a nut job out there. If you remember I had some strange, conditional level level of intensity. Had the football mentality and they play for high school football. But no Yeah, he's got He's calm. He's got a good, good routine about him. And you know it started young, right. You know, He was only five. Maybe six. My last year in the big leagues, so he vaguely remembers, but Yeah, I would say that disposition and demeanor not even close. He's got me beat by a mile. Now, let me ask you an honest question because, you know, my kids played a little tiny bit of sports, and even that I had the hardest time watching. It was excruciating for me. I'm watching my son playing au basketball when he was in seventh grade. And it was it was basically what I could do to sit there. And I'm listening to some of the parents that we yelling at referees and like I didn't even find it an enjoyable experience. I wanted to find joy in it, but I struggled to what now what is it like for your son will listen. And I don't want to overdo this. I mean, let him be his own man. But what is it like for you? You know, as can you find joy in watching it or or how do the whatever nerves and anxiety and everything else sort of factor into that. Yeah. Yeah. So you nailed it? Um, it definitely I thought I'd be good about it, cause I mean without getting into all the psycho analysis of this, But Mike, my career turned around when I met a guy by the name of Harvey Dorfman, 1991 the mental game of baseball, and he was kind of the baseball sports psychologist guy time when he didn't admit to that you needed some help between the years. On now. It's everywhere as you know with, you know, teams hiring these people to help the guys. So my thing watching him Greenie is I always just look at, you know and understand what his process programming routine is and get to that space of what his job is, and then just watch the either execution or lack of execution. So I go into a kind of in a weird way, like a loving dad to like an analyst to a code she wants to, like, help. Like I could watch anybody anywhere. I remember when I was with the Mets. The kids were little and before I go to Shea Stadium, my wife and I would have to stroll and I'll be walking through Central Park before you know, head out to shake and I see some kid throw in whatever. And I'd like I get your arm up and they look at you. You know, like Jack, Leave me alone on you know, I'm going over to say Stadium the pits, you know, so I, It's just in me, so I think When I watched my son there's always like in a good way. Not in not in like some crazy way. I promise you, it's just and then the other thing is, I keep score to keep myself busy. So that's the other part of not getting too anxious about it. So yeah, I guess there's a little bit of stuff going on there. But I love it. I don't care. He was a little kid on his travel team. He batted seventh tonight, barely pitched until high school. And I suggest you smart kid, and I said, you know, maybe baseball can get a really good school like Northwestern or You know what I e V or something like that on Ben? You know, he had progressively just got better and got stronger. And you know, when Vanderbilt came on board, he always you know that was his dream school so Yes, Greenlee. It's been great. It's been amazing. I'm happy for you. I'm happy for the whole family. And let's not go any further with that. Let's get a drop of Northwestern in there as you did The Buster Olney, right, Actually, that's that's our little back and forth there so absolutely yes. I am delighted that you chose the right school to drop it already with with with the northwestern Wildcats when I was recruited, and he was on my recruiting trip. When I was in high school when Ron Woman was the coach, so I had a choice between there and some other good schools, but didn't didn't pick it and then sign with the Yankees. The rest is history. I guess no and all seemed to work out pretty well. Let's get to some breaking moves. Breaking moves is brought to you by Lincoln Jobs. Build your winning team. Yankees, Mets Get Permission to Open Stadiums to 20 Percent Capacity in New York

"Good news for baseball fans. Both the Mets and Yanks will be playing their home games in front of fans this year. Do you see? Necessarily? Kessler tells us all about it. Governor Cuomo says he'll allow 20% capacity at large outdoor stadiums starting April 1st. I mean Citi Field, 8300 and 84 fans. Yankee Stadium 10,850 fans. Al Leiter played for both the Mets and the Yankees and is thrilled when you play in front of a big crowd, and they're cheering you or bone you rock singer. Man, There's nothing like it. Fans will need to show proof of the negative covert tests or vaccination before attending games. I'm Sara Lee Kessler for 77. W. ABC

"Stat of the day. All of that coming up and a poll question as well. The headlines from last night. The Rays beat the Dodgers six for that series tied at a game apiece. Siri's takes the day off so they don't compete with Thursday night football giants and the Eagles. The pelicans waited this long, and they hired Stan Van Gundy. Jeff Van Gundy. He's on the short list to be the next head coach of the Houston Rockets. A lighter from the baseball network will join us coming up in a little bit, and it feels like every Siri's we do the same thing throughout the baseball playoffs. We read way too much in the game one Or game to even Game three and remember the Res, lead the Astros 30 and had to go to seven games. Meanwhile, the Dodgers down 31 went seven games before they advanced. Los Angeles takes Game one Clayton Kershaw, everything's great power by the Dodgers. Then the Rays come back last night winning game to six for reminding us that this might be a competitive Siri's. Blake. Snell was brilliant on the mound. Brandon Lau broke out of his slump. And now the Rays have Charlie Morton on the mound. Game three against Walker Buehler Junior, the third I'm not going to get fooled again in this series one way or another. I'm just going to let it play out. Hope is competitive, And that seems like a very likely possibility at this point, But last night the Rays did it with hitting and pitching Here is Blake Snell, the Rays pitcher. Every game right now is obviously a must win. But I didn't feel the pressure of we really need to win. I felt more pressure on myself like Let's get it going and lets, you know. Give this team something to push forward with. Here's Dave Roberts, the Dodgers manager on his pictures. I think that I still trust him. I still believe them and they just got Tio. You know, make pitches. I know that they want to make pitches next few pitches so What kind of look at the video and see what we can do better at, But they're still gonna need to get big house for us. And once again the world Siri's has the day off. Will talkto Al Leiter. I don't want to dive into the analytics again. But I'm watching last night and it was a common opinion. That's common knowledge that this was a bullpen game for the Dodgers. This is the World Series and I know I'm old school, but I'm not that old. This is Game two of the world's Siri's. Can I get my second best starter out there for five innings instead of using five different pitchers in five innings? I would like to use those pictures again. The rest of the Siri's, but Blake Snell pitched extremely well and then they turned it over to the bullpen. Now it's just go five innings. If even that, But it was a bullpen session last night, basically, and you had all of your bullpen guys pitching an inning. This is the World Series. It's game, too. And a lot of success in World Series history is predicated on having usually two great starters. If you show me a rotation that has two great starters, I'm going to favour that team. Justin Verlander and Garrett Cole. Randy Johnson. Curt Schilling, just you have those pictures. I like your chances are whole lot more now. I'm not sure. Because of the analytics here. And I'm open to change. I understand where the game is now. And I'm not going to do this. A get off my lawn. These games are too long. A game Khun B. Long It could be four hours, but it could be entertaining. These games. I don't care how long they are. They're not entertaining from the standpoint of there is no movement whatsoever. Everybody throws 100 member it used to be. And I got through 100. Now, if you don't throw 100, I go. What's wrong with you? If you haven't had Tommy John surgery. What do you call yourself a pitcher? Now It's exit velocity launch angle, and it's basically let's dig in. I'm swinging and you're throwing And the little things that made up baseball and maybe you know the analytics say you don't win this way, okay? But last night I'm watching the same thing. You know, you got guys who swing and miss and it's okay. Pitchers who, you know, throwing 98 99 100. All right, but that's the game. I think as we move forward, and baseball has the oldest demographic as Faras fans go, and you've got to be careful with that. I'm not saying bells and whistles like I I like when players air demonstrative. If you have fun, you're enjoying the game, then. Great. You should be able to do that Pitchers strike you out. You want to celebrate? Go ahead. At your own peril. Home run bat Flip. I'm fine with that. Don't throw with the next guy, but just the sheer enjoyment of the game. And you could see this. But it changed and it felt like overnight with let's just go to the bullpen for Game two of the World Series. I know we used to get caught up in these pitching matchups. Hey, it's going to be Denny McLain and Bob Gibson. Sandy Koufax is on the mound. Now. It's.

"As a first time head coach. That's a lot because there's a lot of egos. There's a lot of stuff that's going on in those locker rooms in your new head coach, So you know a lot of his excesses on it also be determined by who he is. Higher to the 15 coaches up and down, and I know Jack Bonner still going to be there, which I think is great because he's already established relationships in that locker room and can help guide Steve Richard, I really appreciate you doing this. Thank you was good to see you this morning and I'll see you in these playoffs. Go on on TV one of these days. Thanks. Rich. Yes, Daddy. I love you. Let me know how that goes. But here's the thing Richard is which is still there. I'm so non confrontational with the stuff. I'm the guy who one time is a true story. Al Leiter called me Goldie on the air rather than greenie. Not only didn't I correct him, but I would I would sooner go to the DMV and legally change my name then. So when you sit down next to Scottie Pippen on the jump is Rachel. Rachel have to broker a peace here. How do you expect that? To get out of this thing? I use sarcasm and joke. I'm not the most confrontational person unless it is like last resort. I am more sarcasm and joke. And like I also my I'm trying to handle things with it tremendous amount of respect. So like Scotty is a legend to me, so I'm just going to sing his praises. Until I see him again. Every conspiracy, I guess, By the way, I responded to him. She posted that sweet of who you are the fire. I responded, and I said I was a copper out. So that's okay with sarcasm and jokes. That's who I ended The fair enough. I know what you met in the first place. Thanks, R. J. Thank God it, I see it. That's it's Richard Jefferson, who's terrific and again, hey has told me on multiple occasions long before this came up that Scottie Pippen was his idol growing up that he looked up to as a young player, and so I think all of that will be fine. I understood what he meant. Hey, let me give you the progressive Major League baseball snapshot because we've got two games on ESPN Radio this weekend. You have Saturday got the first place Dodgers hosting Iraqis and then Sunday night. Baseball is a match up in the NL Central. The rivalry, the Cubs and the Cardinals. It's brought to you by progressives Home insurance. Get your quote at progressive dot com today. Alright, I looked up hashtag green. You guys tweet at me. Just use hashtag Greenie and I'll see them. And I see some people disagreeing with me my opening stance this morning that I hated both calls at the end of the Miami Milwaukee game. I will have a few minutes or some phone calls coming up next. If you want to hit me up, 888 say, ESPN call now. I'd like you to do is change my mind. I'm an open minded person. I am willing to be convinced I'm wrong. If you'd like to try 888 say ESPN. If you want to defend the calls that were made either of them or both of them at the end of Miami, Milwaukee last night, we will get to that. After this word from draft kings, the football season is less than 10 days away, with the reigning champs set to take the field to kick off.

"If something you know causes Malkovich, 19 causes this leg to shut down and the pay to the players, which is why you have that hashtag We want to play from. This's what it all comes down to a man they they can scream and yell. All they want it all comes down to who's getting paid and one of me getting paid and what happens. You know, this is why you know the NFL. Initially what three weeks ago basically said We wanted to an escrow deal. Kind of like the NHL players have in the union and Jacey trader went nuts over that. Find all of this argument in this Twitter fodder and all that other crap has a lot to do with that aspect of it, So they're they're trying to become Difficult to deal with because they know that there's other stuff coming from the NFL in regards to protecting the owners from having to pay these players. Money that they're signed for if they don't play All of that, said Chiefs and Texans rookies scheduled to report today for covert 19 testing. So I guess that would be the first time that those players air seeing their new buildings, So yeah, the other thing thing for May I like power, an NFL team. I would have set up testing for every single player. Months ago. If I could have, like, you know, let's get him tested. You know, throughout the next three or four months, you know have deejay. LeMay, you Freddie Freeman. They all came down with covert 19. Now they're all pet. Those two guys were past it. They're playing. Why wait and told training camp opens. This is this is yeah. This is what we were saying last week and I was bringing up this morning. It just seems like that'll this time to get their ducks in a row a little bit better. Then this and testing is one of those things too. I mean, it's amazing that you know, we have report dates for testing. Now. I mean, still even living in this world For the last couple of months. It's like, you know, I have a report to training Camp Rookies report today. It's like today is testing report day and then we'll see how many guys test positive before we move on. I'm just saying I would not take the players tweets. For other than what they really are. It's an agenda driven tweet. It hasn't look they all want to get paid. They all want to play. The question that I would have would be for the guys who have certain situations at home. Where they don't want to put anybody in trouble so that the market Lawrence Wright, and that was the question. I was thinking about myself if I were in that situation back in 1993 in 1994 What would I have done knowing that I only have so much time in my life to make that amount of money. And at that time, it was a lot of money. Much like today is a lot of money. DeMarcus Lawrence is gonna make a lot of money. But they would if he if he decides, not the play. They won't go after any of the bonus money he's already saved. They just won't pay him his yearly salary. I'm not sure what that is. Yeah, this year by I could look it up and I'll figure it out. So he's Salary. He's not risking a portion of his bonus and just as a reminder, I'm not to bring this up. But since you pointed it out, you'd be worth like 35 year. Now. I appreciate it easy. That's conservative. Thank you. Well, I mean, how much is that? Getting 31.4. I believe this year. People are pissed that that that he's getting that much money. No, I think people are pissed that the two sides it and come to a long term agreement. That's what I think people are annoyed. I have an agreement they can franchise and this year and next year You can make 65 16 probably about $70 million over the next two years. Probably. So that's not terrible, by the way so his brother can take that and take a leap. In golf. John Graham won the memorial and then you had the two shot penalty. I'll get you some sound from him next hour. I see we're running late. OB you know everybody hides the Red Bull what outcomes it is ready to go and you get you know you know one out it was such a great thing while all kidding aside to watch this event because for a few hours and for two days we could actually almost forget what was going on in the world because these kids were so excited and you were so excited and the coach from Vanderbilt was the delight and perfect on everybody I just love the whole thing I'm going to talk about the Yankees and the Mets but I want you to tell us about Max Meyer really I thought you were going to jump through the screen you were so excited about this project well you know what I you know when I when I look at them the the the build the metrics what people look for like big back big legs tall like you know we go through what it's supposed to look like so there was some question as to you know who is going to fit after it was a little bit of a surprise because because Hurston curse that was the second pick by that word and that was that was a somewhat of a surprise everybody thought Austin Martin you know with Vanderbilt Torkelson was it unlocks the Tigers so when cursed that went off and then it was a so lazy to strangle lefty I did accomplish James Paxton just a guy throws hard ninety ninety two ninety three is that up to ninety seven changeup slider you know that the usual repertoire stuff makes delivery and then when Meyer came off because we were figure in somewhere as far as the the mock draft somewhere around you know six six seven somewhere in there so I was excited he six foot tall the kids at three letterman and hockey he's got a tough guy you know I'll kick your rear end attitude out there he's not the biggest kid somebody might might tape which included Pedro Martinez my tape included David cone guys that were you know exceptional major leaguers that weren't six four year old we are even bigger so I I get excited when you have a club in this case the Marlins that will think out of the box don't think that you know right handers got to be six three six four six five they all have to throw a certain way so with respect to that I I I see it I also see the red rapid ascent for a guy like this because while he you don't want to tell him that because he thinks of himself as a starter which he should he's primarily a two pitch pitcher but but he he's been up to a hundred and and it's really dynamic so yeah I was excited about that and then after that tape off the video combined tax rate so that laci comes off the next to the royal tonight and I'd like to switch gears I'm like okay so laci's bigeye Texas a and M. just to to economy how much did you go to school on these guys because you know I certainly and Susan certainly doesn't have much of a a dossier on these players we don't see that we don't know anything other than what we read in baseball America or here on MLB network about these kids but how much did you find yourself able to sort of a crew information on so that you had a real good handle on who does what yeah how you so it's a bit of my problem and maybe it's just me B. and maniacal but are still in years past the been there for ten years so I I do a certain amount of parents is it's very flexible to allowed me to have a life you know to be a husband and a father and really cold like I love I love being over there so in years past they always did some of the place you know the players that work there to do in the cam Tait breakdowns and it really it really was I I never liked it because the enthusiasm can be nearly as much because you really don't know the match and when you you're just saying that you know the guy's name and you look at the tape and you look at in the video to comprise some sort of analysis but this being alive and obviously coronavirus really was the impetus behind it but I think moving forward they're gonna have more live analysis because well I'll tell you right in on it and Susan you know we don't really have slower when when at ten the angels drafted Reid Detmers kid at university level there was another one that was legitimate excited because he's a guy that doesn't throw ninety five two hundred he seems like every guy throws ninety five or better right so here's a guy that throws ninety to ninety four really good changeup and an exceptional curveball spots up his fastball very aggressive even though he's under ninety five plus guy everything plays off his fastball and I made the comment this is great this is an organization that has not drafted pictures in first round and their top five prospects in their organization right now will be a very fair and they're all everyday player so I was excited about that and.

W. yeah the only one that. this. it is going to be and when the. how are you hi good when it Wednesday. good Wednesday morning to you as we begin so here's the deal yeah I went to bed last night at eight four thinking look at the match you've got this they're going to make it four to five on the road they're going to go for the sweep tomorrow get up look at my phone. took three takes to understand what the hell I was looking at how are you well good my first reaction was Jerry well because I was a bit very early last night because I'm feeling under the weather but I've got I've Jake up to grow verses mac sure is our game using the two one. I'm looking at the score eleven ten I know so I wonder what kind of odds I coulda got on twenty one runs on board in a the Goron verses sure yeah game not the day the runs regards but just that those two worse a RD but not great shares are gave up five runs and the ground gave up for a warrant grand decorum walk three guys a budgets he was not great last night I know sea wall gave up a bunch of runs but I did one was bad I would never put D. as or familia they just have of bad now what I do is I talked to talk about this with my son all the time what do you do with them. don't have an answer for you Gerry hot thumb. you're you're not sure no one wants them so what do you do with them I trade him to a contender I would actually started D. as last night in the ninth inning. GL has a very good and I and I'm not going to give it away mainly because they don't fully remember what he said. just about the the the the double play that Turner didn't yes correct turn changed everything will go out of the game right yeah changed everything was no what are the Mets are going to do and how that all engines all the pieces fell let me just say this and then we'll get all of the funds all right Gerry because I listen to another caller is coming in yeah for anybody the things that sets Lugo should have come back in that game at ten four you lost your admit you're lost you don't know what the hell you're talking right so he happens to be right once they go up and I think even listening to how we in Wayne which are on back this morning even Wayne said at eight four yeah might not bring them back once a lots of hits a home run ten pages tonight now you got Lugo today one Alonso hits a home run Gary Colin is so excited that meant to blow out which there are by six road yeah I mean even I don't know you could throw you would have thought you could put your man to page three stupor and narrowly that al. sea wall has been out in the ninth and an old to pitch we won runner on so like there is that close to just ending the game and done that season crushing loss I've heard Jerry I thought son than I was and they came back and won then I think last night was was able to do this afternoon day game this afternoon it's only on you too yes correct now I write a I watch it I read on the various a media reports I think Andrew Marchand maybe had this or one of his fellows there the post that you two wanted Ron Darling for the game I could see that and S. and why said now really yeah I wonder why so instead you get al Leiter which is fine and two people I never heard of we have I have not heard of these people what I thought is god Braun Scott Peck on soon as you see him you know he is all right and Lauren Johnny how have you not heard of those two F. P. sant'angelo honor that is why you know this but we see dawn I thought it was not brawn it's brought it's al Leiter F. P. sant'angelo and Scott brought not Lawrence hardy. Lauren the Heidi did you said while she is not Lauren shoddy shoddy certain Hey I did not see her on the list why to tractive too okay that was the initial three you guys are doing the same last week we discussed this your off. the older the older very so confused today Scott Braun is the guy that does red zone. so the big ears not that yes I gets got hands on my red zone yeah does not have any right now we are lost I'm without I would do the Haley I Scully guidance that he is the guy with the years yes okay you know yes I tell you when you see a meal the whole yes I can't wait to what times a game today one one o'clock CMB every phone call I guess going to be worse. we do not have a computer. my guy says with a glass is what I would tell people when they call it will dial up networking earthlink is not working I think technical difficulties aid no cameras they were it not able to get cameras to them again. to hear a lost the rumored earthlink was a thing earthlink out like where did that go still out there because it might not I take winners information for ticket winners people in Yankee tickets there often and I have to get their emails I still get earthlink even a no I do. compu serve prodigy those emails are still out there I didn't know that and evidently working I guess so all right and the Yankees as predicted yesterday Jerry you want your sports news you come to me now when the Yankees got shut out yesterday. in two hundred twenty games we said home run barrage against the rain there would be down Texas five home runs last why did we place of a friendly family I don't know because we knew that was going to happen and as soon as stages it's the first home run the game was over right stupid all of us old Jerry are for now took a little while sixth inning that a bunch of them but we knew they were going to do it yeah because I had some wise guy on Twitter by I guess was right before the sixth inning hit me up on Twitter it said thought you and Jerry said there was going to be a home run derby and it was. exactly now in fairness I did think by the third inning the game will be over right and they could be what it was but all is fair home run derby J. did something this morning we drove in separate this morning I've heard yeah I didn't see them in the car I did something this morning which I forbid you from doing it I've never really done but a handful of times in my entire life you want a gas I had to get gas at three AM happens you deal with it so I by the way. so I go to the gas station down the way to a parkway yeah and this is the back yeah this is the bad thing about New Jersey when you have to pump your own gas. I mean where you don't get the pump your I got away for a guy right then a gal pulled in who appeared to be from one of the local dance hall you're kidding and she needed a washer fluid for her windshield did you help her no but guess who didn't get help at the gas station because everyone gorgeous girl my idea everyone who was working there was like let's we need to get this girl her wind chill and I'm like my guess is not popping let me get outta here yeah so I am sorry I am see at that point you should. click the nozzle often just go. my cell by myself yeah well I mean ones they put it in your file by the way did you say did I help with dancer with her which I know that's a perfect scam. I would have put windshield washer fluid and so afraid that you're gonna hit over the head with a tire yeah like a guy comes out look around from the backseat on kids on the block and I probably would have helped either now I think about it and then I heard this on there I did a caller complaining about Mickey Callaway his decisions was let me out and the caller says you know who we need as a manager we gotta get Bach men in here whole box man. he met Wally Backman Wally back we just got arrested again did me which is what Tony said but Tony use the same pronunciation the guy goes lock me in the at the goggles Tony we gotta get Bachman as our manager all and then Tony goes I believe Bachman was just arrested maybe he was like passive aggressively mocking enroll I hope so I am a and I saw that last week I was over the weekend or the week I was away something like that of Wally Backman arrest yeah right like unless the violence or something which is terrible but there's a reason why he a red flags on them right there you go he was wearing red flags are the is it around his belt like yeah like go day away yeah exactly got time for one more still in that one a Kentucky man Jerry this sounds like one of our stories no money from Kentucky he is yeah a Kentucky man broke the bench press world record that could be Phil Simms you saw how Jackie was a giants camp this guy put up seven hundred thirty nine he's not doing steroids point six passer town if you like high on steroids he's probably shaking yeah was this time you did bench press. I don't mean just the bar. well the only thing I will put on a band like an actual bench press like not a machine yeah not in the water was. with the table sale a like where I am the only thing holding the bar up I'm going to say twenty five pounds on each side yes so it's a ninety five no is it so it's in ninety five pounds like he added the bars forty five twenty five on each side did you ever get so I have gotten stock I have a yes frightening yep and I was lucky that I didn't break my face yeah under the bar and it dropped I did the move where I I II I tilted yeah so they drop so the one drop and then it jerked the other side. you always check the other side in that case inertia took over which side reject the most your left you're right well this happened I I dumped for the left. you dump the leg jerked alright I jerked to the right and the exactly that I think I tried to put thirty five pounds on that's why he's such a woman. Hey you're in shape because I'm worried that I won't be able to get it all the way up and back on to the bar quick break al's got another story about how manly he is when we come back and then boomer NGO it's six some of it. over ward's member appreciation month that'll Reilly auto parts where you could.

Two of the NFL networks draft jolt Joel's gonna be on the set with me DJ and Charles night to okay and from Nashville he said that the chargers patriots giants are all interested in Josh Rosen, which makes eight tonne of sense. If I'm the giants bring 'em in bring 'em in Pat Shurmur is not going anywhere. So he would actually have two years this year and next under this system, and one would think a shot at maybe if he li- struggles despite what Dave Gettleman has to say about his viability starting quarterback, you have them right there. So you're trading. What their thirty seventh overall pick? Yes. I do that. Are we do that? Would you? If you're a giant fan, would you be fine of trading Odell Beckham for Djibril peppers, Josh Rosen and the third round selection. If the giants flip the mid mid round mid mid round, I would you be fine with that your giant fan? You got Rosen. So you'd have saquon from last year, basically, take saquon and Rosen from last year's draft and a terrific terrific. Defensive player that you drafted six peppers who was a first round selection from last year is well and third round pick. You just don't have Odell anymore. Are you fine with that? If that's the way it all comes out in the wash. You have to be if you think that Odell wasn't gonna stick around anymore. The giants were that they thought that Odell was looking at the Mr. big chest exit strategy via Instagram and social media to get signed him. "Twenty two years one hundred forty eight days, he's the first Suns player with fifty or more points in consecutive games. Second Suns player with multiple fifty point games in a season. The last one on the one Tom Chambers going to be my guess, Tom Chambers back in a eighty nine. He's tied for the most points by Suns player at talking stick resort arena. Which it definitely was not call. But I'm Ari stock mar- did it and fifty points in two thousand five Cliff Robinson did it in two thousand. And here's here's here's the best one right here that he is the first player ever to lose. The first three games in which he scored fifty more points. Wow. That's never happened before. Nobody's ever in their career scored fifty points in their career and lost the first three such games. That's never happened at your stat here which. Chain stance. Mears it less special fifty point games. Now. Happens a little more. I just remember I remember when my favorite basketball player of all time all time Bernard king the great Bernard. King did it in back to back games in on a Texas swing. I believe it was in Dallas and San Antonio when he did it in the mid eighties. And I just remember it was one of the most special things I ever watched him score fifty and then tuning in the next game. And watching him do it again. I remember that was one of the greatest sports viewing experiences of ever seen January of eighty four. I just. I just remember that that was just bloom. I don't know if it was because I was teenager, and I'd never seen it before. And it was my favorite player happening. Just now we just hear about it all the time. Obviously, the three point shot the three you've rather shoot ninety threes than make your create your own shot or make that mid range jumper and be teams rather you just keep raining it in. I don't know. So. The name of Daniel Jones, sir. I've heard that new quarterback. Yeah. That's all. I'm hearing about right now. And and I'm hearing that the giants love him. And that's after Peter Schrager put at memory talked about that on the show yesterday. GM we talked about that Peter Schrager, good morning football. He's going to be on the set with me and Daniel Jeremiah and Charles Davis for the third day of the draft for the NFL network. He had him the giants taken the do quarterback sixth overall leaving Haskins on the board. And he ran a four six seven forty at Duke pro day Choi tweeted out he was watching the Duke pro day on the NFL network and saw how accurate he was throwing. And that in his estimate is the most important measurable of a quarterback prospect that you can't teach that which was the knocking Josh Allen last year. And so here we go. What does that mean? And Charlie Casserly. God bless him. Starting cardinals fans must be just driven nuts by every word that comes out of his mouth. But he said on the NFL network yesterday that if Rosen is available. He would not. Go and acquire him with the first round selection, certainly would take he said both Haskins and Jones above Rosen. If Rosen was thrown into this mix of quarterback prospects this year, and he would consider a second round choice. But if it's a third round pick. He's absolutely like. He couldn't write out the paperwork for the trade fast enough third round pick. And I'm like, whoa. What's what gives? What gives I don't understand this hour on Rosen..

"Oh, God rich. Let's go with rice. Okay. All right. Throw. He's got no opt out. So he's there for thirteen years. So the fills gotta do it. They gotta do it. They gotta do it. I know. So I and Erin auto to that. Do you change your choice? Do. Yeah. Let me give let me give a Colorado Rockies some love that they that could be that could be that could be one that that that steps up. Okay. And let me add judge to that. Because he's gonna hit it very soon. What do you think? Okay. They say the judge. They're just they're so good. They're so deep they've got a nice pipeline. And now in the minor leagues that's backing up. I got the Yankees they're going to get to the AFC s going to you know, whatever I mean, salt Cristobal stuff that you know, they could easily beat the Astros. I I think that they're going to win the division. Well, enjoy being on the MLB network and ski see baseball circuit. I'm I'm very happy for hours today. Nine eight nine AM for twelve hours. We got live coverage of opening day network. Atta boy well done there there may be an eye liner. But you're still a team player. Thanks, rich. Good chatting. Thanks out care. You got that's out ladder. He's the best. I love them. Terrific. I just gonna miss him in the in the Yankee booth. He's terrific to listen to a great listen is a great watch too on MLB network. Good, dude. So he's got Astros over hard Nel's written down. And how about that? So Harper trout Machado. He takes Harper for the most rings we through our Nado in there. And TV enjoyed that sort of lifeline in that conversation have judges come into. That's why I didn't want the Yankees to spend all that absurd amount of money on someone like Machado makes sense there. You saw the contract they just gave trout here in southern California. Yeah. You just saw the contract they just gave Harper. Now. I know that he's not judge is not one an MVP award. And it's only been a year and a half essentially he should've had one right years ago. Yeah. He would have been my pick over to two years ago. So he's done it. He's done it. He's twenty six that'd be twenty-seven. A couple of weeks. That contracts coming for him. Year monster big fatty, and then they're gonna have to look at Sanchez and say do we do that with him to already having Stanton? And all that on on the mix. It's tough when you have all these generation Lee talented players hitter. But that's common. It's common for bets too. Yep. It's common for you know, what might become for your boy, Benintendi, really, really good good. This is a blow up your man. He's common, man. All right. So con- start looking around. And that's why kimbrough's not going to get he concerts. But with everybody who can throw a hundred which is a lot of guys now. Right that can fill your role in the seventh eighth and ninth. If he's willing to show up in some spot, and he'll wind up the closer at some point with his arm perched, he's like he's like Encarnacion got it out here and Kimberley's got it down there. He was so Radic in the postseason. Well, I think he was tipping his pitches personally from what from what I heard the scuttle button. Yeah. Because you can't just he was wild too wild. Still got your ring you and the guy who closed it starts for for for the Red Sox tonight. Right. Didn't sale wrapping up. They'll wrapped it up. My new favorite player. David price. Do you still have that ran? All right. When we come back. We'll revisit that. And by the way, a fast riser in the draft over the last twenty four hours. It's a name that year on. NFL draft. That's coming up next on the rich Eisen show in sports trade can make or break your.

"Dow good to see you guys on opening day guys that a free hat for baseball course, rich. I mean, Where'd you? That's an opening day hat from two thousand nineteen open yet. We had some sent here the thank away while I was on vacation. I didn't know. I don't want the hat. I just want. I just want. Good action. I just want. Good action. I up well Yankee well Yankees are first up. First pitch Yankee Stadium Yankees and the Orioles. And then what a heck of a pitching matchup as well. At the very same time. Jacob degrom and max sherzer non man to nine figure pitchers starting things off in the National League east right there. And that'll be the first time we see the nationals as we all know without Bryce Harper and the Phillies later on this afternoon taking on the Braves in that is where we will see Bryce Harper. And I'll be honest with you the Bryce Harper signing by the Phillies and getting to see him today in that Phillies uniform, and according to major league baseball the number one selling uniform first time in two years, the number one selling uniform wasn't the number ninety nine of the New York Yankees. Aaron judge first time judge is not the. Highest selling jersey in major league baseball. It's Bryce Harper now with the Philadelphia Phillies, and I you know, I'm excited to see that. And that's obviously very good for baseball, which has become and I know that many people might think that because I'm a National Football League guy, not only professionally but personally NFO man that I would take shots at major league baseball. But you know, how much I adore major league baseball. That's what I covered at the worldwide leader in sports for seven years. We love baseball for went to the NFL network. Right. We talk as much baseball maybe on a national scale than than we'll definitely talk about more than most. So you're in the right place for opening day, folks. So here's here's my thought on it. It's a regional sport now. So I love the Yankees I care about the Enke's later on today. You know, if I'm sitting at home and and trout's at the play. Late. I'll be interested in Otani's at the plate. I'm interested. I dig a bunch of the Houston Astros, our friend of the show, which I will call Alex bregman now after having stopped buying studio this, hey, if you sign personally autograph my Jews in sports book. The encyclopedia of Jews in sports book that we have here. Not so prominently displayed on the rich Eisen show says it's like WALDO, it's behind why del tufo, I mean?.
