"Talk with the celtics. Let's do exactly that we're going to start with. Mr may daga new head coach of the boston celtics at the time of recording. I don't believe the details of his contract with the team have been announce but i'm sure that will be soon enough. This is boston's eighteenth coach but since early two thousands. It's just the doc rivers and brad stevens show so barring kind of disaster i suspect will be around for a while so let me swing it to you because your mouths aren't numb out. What was your immediate reaction to the hiring and now almost day removes have. Your thoughts changed at all. I was extremely pumped to see that. He may have been formally announced as the head at the head coach going forward for loyal listeners. If you listen to me last absurd and they'll episode before that and the episode. Before you'll know that i was beating the drum pretty hard for the celtics to hire yoka. I e has a ton of experience as an assistant under gregg popovich which is always a plus He is currently assistant for brooklyn nets. A lot of well not is not currently was this past season and i'm very excited about the possibility of running. Some of the kevin durant sets for jason tatum Gocha is respected by a wide variety of intelligent people in the league and most crucially. He has the endorsement of the celtics cornerstone players going. So i am thrilled. My thoughts haven't changed at all from the previous podcast. Mine really excited to dhaka era. And the last thing i'll say is that i am especially thrilled. But the celtics are making a very serious and dedicated commitment to having only attractive people in the organization going forward Folks if you haven't taken a look at dhaka just just do a quick google search man on him and let me know what you find. 'cause that's a good. What could matt right there. Just around out. He's married to the actress nia long so i don't think they have kids yet. I that is a looking hard hitting analysis from celtics lab. Justin odia thoughts dunka keeping with the hard hitting analysis. He doesn't just have the backing of the jays and marcus smart from their time on team. Usa almost two years ago. Now wow But he he also got the endorsement of al horford in the presser. Talk more about shortly. I'm wicked happy that they this guy on One of my editors Passed a very old interview with one of his teammates from nigerian national team of how basically fought their way out of a hostile arena after beating the national team. And if you haven't had a chance to find it whether it's my my take on it or any of the several others that are out there. Just look up nigerian national team fighting. You may adoga. It's quite a tale. Yeah who goes the first nigerian national to coach the nba. I believe just pretty exciting to rake barriers amount way. We've talked about him before. And i'm sure anybody's listening knows background to former player. He kinda grinded on the international circuit as well. He has been assistant with the spurs with the sixers. One al horford was with the sixers and muslim net. So he's going to bring kind of a wealth of experience of lead to the team. I have been really pumped about the offense that he can bring to the celtics because he's worked with the nets and he's worked with the spurs and the celtics probably won't have traditional guard of maybe marcus. Smart would senate. He is attrition. Or i don't know But adoga also really has strong defensive justin tacos about at what we know about. It's a loss vs on defense and actually just getting familiar with the myself. So i can't really speak too much but again bring the al horford al at plenty to say about on how he's been time working with him and he was always a consummate professional. They spend a lot of time working with him on defense when they together in philadelphia. So i'm really curious to see without horford now back in the fold how that is going to affect the celtics who admittedly were not very good. Defensive team was gone up particularly last season. I mean they really fell off a cliff. And i think that is probably a big part of the reason why both of them are on the celtics roster net again spent seven years with the spurs as an assistant so he has seen a team that reimagined that its identity several times with the same thesis. So it doesn't look like an action out some curious. Your thoughts the fact. That smart was so heavily consulted here or at least it's been reported as such suggests to me that the team is looking to make monumental changes to the core the roster alex thumbs up out a you. Can you tell us more about how you feel about that. And how daca fits into that. Yeah well i think. It's just another endorsement Marcus smart is considered one of the core guys for this team going forward and i think that that likely means that you could see the market smart extension happening either. This offseason next offseason. I don't necessarily think that it shuts the door on marcus. Smart then being traded after that extension signed particularly if that's the only way to acquire a third star player. But i do think it indicates that at the very least marcus going to be a part of this team for next year and probably more also think that it probably ups the chances that the celtics are on. They've openly stated that they want to do this at their intent on resigning for I think if you're starting marcus smart as your point guard. You probably need evan formula. Or somebody like having foreign aid to start the two to provide additional spacing and playmaking sto- The daca hiring has me feeling That it's highly likely that the celtics opening night starters for next season are going to be marcus. Smart evan forte. Jaylen brown jason. Tatum and al horford I will be interested to see what this means for the bench As we mentioned before who doku is He's got some offense chops but he really has a rap as being a defensive minded coach celtics bench was not a defensive minded adventure last season. So it'll be interested to see. Because i think that's likely where you're going to be seeing the biggest remaining roster changes furthest team going forward is who's going to be filling that bench but I think doco coming backing means that smart jalen. Jason are here to stay for the foreseeable future. The taught me sounds like that's the case here. There's nothing of course wrong with that it should be noted for any national analysts who are a.
Brad Stevens Explains Why Celtics Made Kemba Walker Trade
"On friday. We had a rare postseason trade with boston. Sending kemba walker. And this year's first round sixteenth overall to oklahoma city for al horford the move freeze the celtics in the final year of canvas deal saving the team about thirty two million dollars in the process. Here is how brad. Stevens explained the move on monday. We had look at with the idea of moving That first round pick this year right a gave us the opportunity to look at a A road ahead with a few more options from the financial flexibility standpoint All of our future you know. First round picks passed this year Which again gives you more options. And then you know it was the It was the best deal That we thought with regard to you know returning players. Riot i mean the idea Or the opportunity to add How do make significantly less money. But his You know a really good player that has corporate knowledge of this environment.
Boston Celtics Trade Kemba Walker to Oklahoma City Thunder
"And an NBA trade of note Today, Kimber walkers sent From Boston to a okay. See with the number one pick for Al Horford. Moses Brown in a second round pick. Okay, see, taking the remainder of Walker's exorbitant

"And you can't necessarily account for that, and we've learned that lesson in recent free agency periods, where the Celtics have a line of reasonability, G, other teams do something that they don't think is reasonable. But yes, the, the capability of having those to remain with the team is much more in play now than it than it was before this trade and on the smart front. Like he's the starting point guard now and if you believe that he's going to be your starting point guard, be on this year, which I actually think is a completely reasonable thing. I thought were sort of talking offline in Texas about like how I you know how I think it's an intelligent way to build a team around Jalen and Jason especially if Jason's going to become more and more of a point forward and like to build defensive flexibility around them. They get they took you to do that in a way that most other young Stars don't if they don't play the wing and so having Marcus be your point guard would be fine and if the talk about how he wants an extension is true like his max extensions only twenty percent more than a month. Now like you could very reasonably just extend Marcus for 20% more than he makes now at a couple of years and have them be your spark. You're starting point guard and I think that also becomes more likely now that campus out of the picture because you need a point guard. And that's not to say that I expect that to actually happen. But like, I, If you would ask me yesterday, that seemed less likely than it does now, right? Right, for sure. And, I mean, to be honest, there's just something whatever. When Kyrie walked out the door and 2019, I thought this was the Avenue they were going to pursue at the time, it's be like, okay, see what smart? A point guard looks like full-time wage and we saw how that turned out internet, obviously very well for a year, when Campbell's healthy. But then when sideways. So now that's the The Logical fit. They're not to say that they won't bring in, you know, they, they could test his value on the market right now. And if they find a better fit, I think that could certainly be in play or allow wage. Go to just to be a, the do everything six-man. I think that could be in play too, but the odds again, went up a lot in addition to Forney being around for First Merit, being around town. Next season, let's talk about Horford for a minute. In.

"Unless they make the finals, would what season was that? Where they wanted to miss the playoffs and Jae Crowder hit the corridor through Corner, 3 a.m. and and and you could see the ownership group on this on the on the Baseline Celtics Baseline like, you know, going to be driving second season. Yeah, Brad second. She's going to happen, often make the finals, you know, but they're not making the files and I don't think anyone, I don't think anyone would be bummed if they know, they, they have to cash out, but that would always cracks me up there like birth. JY. So yeah that's yeah. We've given our reactions on this one. What do you think happens? Next again, it's hard. It's a lot information to take in. You. Take a look at numbers. You got to look at trade Partners, other things here, but what do you think is the next Domino to fall, guys? I think it's got to be the coach for sure. That was Jesus. God, I read books, right? Right. It's to the point now where it seems every other day, there's either a new candidate or a new opening in this coach and coaching Carousel. And so I think people forget because there's more than half a dozen openings. Now, the Celtics had the first one and so it would you would think that if you're at if you've had the most amount of time to evaluate the process and figure out wage has, you should probably be the first one to to make a move. And and the, my concern with the Celtics is that they're going to figure out who they want and they're not going to pull the trigger quick enough because there are so many more tears. Competing for that opportunity to, to find a coach. And Boston, they, I think just like the Kimba moved felt a bit aggressive. I think the same attitude has to be with the coaching search and get it done sooner, rather than let it, don't let this thing drag out, don't let Portland OR you know Dallas you know, come in and swoop, the candidate that you want. If you want someone make the move Bebo, electric is the enemy of the good. I think that could be one of the things you could always have pinned on Danny. And his tenure is waiting to Long the perfect thing, you know, and not taking something that might be viewed as a potential risk or something that, you know, could have some benefit but would it have the most benefit with the coach, you want to get that, right? And so we understand that, that's something where you really want to, you know, you want to make the best pick, you want to get the guy, you know, totally understand it. But with some of these moves, you do have to, you do have to get aggressive and you do have to risk it. Not being the best mom. Or not being, you know, whatever. But you can't you can't do nothing. And there's something that had to happen. So I I I do, you know, agree, there's people jumping in a little late here. Horrible, trade, horrible trainee, double trade, I don't know a lot of flat, I got a lot of flack when I brought up the horrid idea, nobody's life made for because. Yeah, I think last memory of preferred was that disaster year in Philly where he was just on a rampage fit, hear his final on Stemmons. And indeed, who we are still saying to this day, have huge issues on the offensive end of the war. So once he went over to Oklahoma City, no one's watching that team, whereas John said earlier in the day walking G League team but in the games he played, they were competitive eleven and fourteen..

"And that's okay, because the jobs wage Sometimes you do have to take a step back to take two or three forward if you can bring in and out, Horford and create, you know, over another year or so enough, cap space to go out and land, that God dammit member of the big three or one of your young guys, all of a sudden starts playing more minutes and they develop into that third Big Time option, then it was worth. It was absolutely worth it. It's worth it, it's worth it. If a Year's worth of, you know, having Rob under his wing helps out helps Rob do some things. I know they overlapped by a year, Rob's rookie year but took his own shift to worry about that year. That was a, you know, really funky season in Boston obviously. So I like the idea of the veteran presence, the guy who does things right? The guy who values defense, the guy who values Distributing the guy, who got worried about stats, the guy who, you know, can still, you know, theoretically defend a couple of different positions, and who's there to help, you know, maybe help rob, you know, you know, set has set his alarm clock and wage. You know, stay on the court or do whatever he needs to do. It's going to be it's going to be, it's going to be a feel-good team to some degree. Don't you think? Yeah. Just just have to say it will say, who said? I got it all. Looks like you didn't trade, something poisonous, Kemba was a guy who he wasn't poisonous personality wise, but I said from the very beginning that year, that there was a real problem in terms of just three guys who really need the ball, where isolation scores, right? That's, that's the problem. I mean, you have to it's been a problem. Now for multiple years, you just had too many guys who need the ball, but I think Camp of was liked. I think Campbell had a good positive attitude. I think it was just frustrating because they, they thought they could win, you know? So many games, I mean, how many times last year we do like the part, was it, like a chemist us tonight? It was just a routine and it felt like so many gain. Just essentially forfeited and trying to maintain him because of the depth situation and just how it was score and they had the top of the roster and how offensive dependent the team was, it was just an unstable team situation last year. And that, that program was just really dedicating in many cases. I think the most impactful player on the inconsistency last year, no one could establish their rolls down one, could build cohesion, in chemistry, you had other injuries that like, put more pressure on a Tatum when Brown and Kemba were out, you know, when Rob was yet even less passed and there was one that was just hate him doing everything. And now I think you have some guys that are going to be a little more consistent, right? And the injury thing was really the one shocker for most of us because you look at Kim's time in life, you know, Charlotte. He rarely missed games, he was an Ironman of sorts, I mean, and and so for Celtics fans, and for those who follow Kimba his time, Austin is just a bit of a head-scratcher be, but it felt and we were all a little bit concerned about this. From the jump was whether all those years in Charlotte, the wear and tear that his body went through, being the boss to carry that franchise year after year. After year at some point, you figured it would catch up to win it and it really does, you know, just look at his time in Boston. That was a time. So if you're in the Celtics, you might be cutting the ribs it in time to to not frankly, devastate your organization even more so and take even more steps back..

"Going to fix that as well. You have a guy in Kemba or in Horford, who's going to take a back seat for us, who's going to go home? Help us tank. Do our thing here, and we're going to work with him on his future, life Nation, if he really hated, Boston didn't like it here. Didn't want to come back. This deal probably doesn't get done, but he looks at the situation now, post everything and it's like. All right, we got some young guys here. We got some young Stars. I like what we got here and I'm going to go back and do it again. That's good on the end of thing. But I am like I said, is you've done? You've done Kemba dirty so to speak. How did they do crack a dirty? Look, I'm just talking about the way. I'm just it's just a phrase Bobby. I'm, I've never thought you talking about. I've never bought into that. I think it's abated. Everything they possibly can. That's what I'm saying. I I have always believed it's a business, you can't have you can't be pissed off when people trade you, you know, no matter what there's no loyalty on either side, you walk, you totally understand it. When you totally understand it. When Whatchamacallit, when when guys get traded and when you guys make their own decisions and free-agent, I think when people people don't seem to understand was that how didn't leave? Because he hated it in Boston, he left because he got a better offer, he felt that his value was at a certain point, didn't agree. And so then I'll said, well, let me go find out what that value is and you got a four-year hundred million dollar deal, which is more than a Celtics felt he was worth now in retrospect the cellphone right. Because when you look at how things flamed out for Allen Philadelphia look out, things didn't work out. When you got traded to OKC. I mean, Al has been at a couple of different places since he left Boston, and I think if you're out, Horford, it at this month. Your career you gotta ask yourself what's the best situation for me players want to play?.

"I had Sox tickets at night, I was like I can't wait to get out and then boom that happen and that was an all day Affair. So this is a monster trade on Friday and There's a ton to unpack. So I mean, let's start with initial just for everybody home. Assume you've tuned in. You have the news by now? Brad Stevens. We assumed it was Brad Stevens. I don't need much. Danny has any fingerprints on this or who? But massive major deal. Early early, early in free agency Kemba Walker goes to OKC for Al Horford. This is one of the ones we talked about our special a week ago and the overall compensation, is this first round, pick goes this year's. That's number sixteen. Then also, a few, a second-rounder. In addition, you're getting a brown and you're getting get it, they're getting a second-rounder right? Yeah, there. Yeah. There's, there's a 2023 second-round, understanding out in twenty twenty-five, K. They're sending one out, and they're getting one back. So it's just swap a future seconds. Basically, the deal comes down to the meeting, the the meat, and potatoes here. It's Kemba. And your, and your first round pick this year, for Horford and mow Brown. And then a swap a second job. So first thoughts Bobby, I know yours, so there's no surprise here. Let's start with. Well let's let's start with Bobby, you're happy to have Horford. I want to give that a minute. Let's start with sharrod. The compensation is when people are going to be right worried about here, did you give up too much? Is the first round or too? Much more Browns. Nice Mo Brown was a two-way contract, beginning of the year. He lit up the Celtics earlier in this season. So anyone who remembers that game was like wow, that guy's pretty good. He finished with pretty solid stats for the year. He's a nice little cheap Edition signed through 2012 RAV4. I think very short money. Nice guy to have on your team. That's a terrific bench. That's a terrific depth Edition, but that first round pick hurts a little bit. Obviously. Yeah. And, you know, and that's why, that's, that's right. Yeah, it's the cost of doing business and to be frank with you, this feels very much like a brad, Stevens type of deal as opposed to a Danny engine where I don't think that first wrong Pig. Would have necessarily been included, frankly, I don't think the deal would have got done if Danny held his guns on that first round pick. It's no secret that if you're dealing with OKC at this point in their growth and development jobs, you gotta throw in a first-round pick, they're not doing any deals unless they're getting one of those in return. And frankly for the Celtics, let's be honest and real. When they're picking outside of the top five, it's a crapshoot on what their thoughts. Again, at least when you're giving up that second that first round pick and you're swapping. Essentially second-round picks. You're basically saying we're giving you this this middle of the first round pick for Moses problem, cuz to me, Kim bought a now that's a pretty comparable slop..
Celtics Send Kemba Walker, 16th Pick to Thunder for Horford
"Report. A big trade in the NBA. The Boston Celtics are trading Kemba Walker and this year's number 16 overall draft pick and a 2025 2nd round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a package that includes Al Horford, Moses Brown and a 2023 2nd round pick. Okay. See now has three first round picks in this year's

How Joel Embiid Became An MVP Contender
"Also derek. Last season ended in pretty disappointing. Fashion for philadelphia. That'll do it. The boston celtics move on by defeating the seventy sixers. Four games to nothing. The first ever went wrong in that first round against boston for embiid and the sixers. I think a bunch of things went wrong. First of all. You can't start without saying this. Ben simmons zone. Outside of that sort of what went wrong was wrong with the sixers all year. The team didn't fit well yet. Al horford and josh richardson. Who were tough it's around a post op center and embiid. Richardson shooting for three ended out. They didn't have a real reliable second often times during the series alec. Burks was your secondary options on offense recipe. Brad stevens and the celtics and bead romeo leg for the rookie thinking about double vacates birds. Who can't make them pay. So there is a lot of mistakes that were made roster building and there were missing. Simmons isn't it was a tough series for sure. Can you remind us what the narrative was after that first round exits surrounding joel embiid and his performance. Yeah it was fascinating because on one hand when they came back into the bubble they had spent pretty much those months in between working with you all to get better at handling dull teams and it came out in the bubble in orlando during the seeding games and some of that had started to show and he looked like he was handling double teams better and he came out against the celtics. And i think that he converted back a little bit in terms of struggling with the double team and bead backing down ties gordon hayward on the help and they come up with the steel but he was dominant as an individual score. That was locked off and be. Did it again. Safe focused joel. Fb five of seven. Give him thirteen of his team's thirty one. We'll lifesaver on that. So i think a lot of people looked at you made steps. He did most of what he could do individually. He just didn't have enough help around him. Well that disappointing end to a long season led to a number of changes within the sixers organization. Can you take us through. Some of the moves that philly made in the off season and how they related to unlocking the better performances from joel. Embiid is off the front office. Obviously brought daryl morey To work above. Elton brand and then they brought in doc rivers replace brett brown and then you had some pretty key addition to traded al horford for essentially danny green. And then josh. Richardson for steph curry. And i think those two editions have been pretty big with joel. Because i think if you look either trade you'd say the sixers got the lesser talent but the fit and just having to players in curry and green. Who the other team can't leave has been huge for. Joel shoe autom- double wall and pass. And you miss accomplish you. Miss a lot of shots You just straightening and then you start thinking of all you gotta do everything by yourself. 'cause everybody's not made the shots. Richardson horford they were not only inconsistent shooting. If they are unwilling shooters and they'd hesitate any office. Which is kinda come grinding down to a halt not only is curry making his shots and all these green making his permanent shots. But the ball is moving around the perimeter. Much quicker than it was. So there's more consequential doubling joel embiid than there ever has been monarch got a lot of assists but Ogle gets one us open. Invite double or triple team has a lot of hockey else's shake milton hinton to downtown ten points and ten minutes off the bench make no mistake that play which about drawing the double and then the ball moving east gotta be willing to be content. That the ball's the swing opposite and he's gonna creative for shots teams are now left with a real choice whereas before i think the whole strategy just send you all need help and disguise it a little bit senate in different locations but if you send it frequently enough you're going to confuse joel embiid or the sixers aren't going to have the talent or the players to make him pay. I think that's changed now.
OKC burns the Nets behind Gilgeous-Alexander, five others.

Danny Ainge's Celtics Conundrum
"The logical question though, and he got into this a lot with Bob and we got his thoughts. But obviously I want yours as well. You know, there are only so many options really that Danny Ainge has because of just the economic setup of this month. Stir, you know, it's very top-heavy salary cap wise young guys, you know, you can all right fine. So you don't bring back like an enes Kanter not a young guy but a cheap guy, you know, that's that's not going to give you all that much flexibility back. So it's really do you want to trade Marcus Smart, which I don't think anybody wants to do or do you want to move off of Gordon Hayward in some way shape or form now? He has the power which is often for that 34 + million dollars next year or he could opt out do what everyone thought was going to happen with Al Horford last year, which is re-signed him, you know more years lower aav average wage will value or you know option three is obviously you trade the guy. I don't think there's a scenario in which he just hops out and doesn't return I don't believe that anyway coming off the injury, maybe if he had had a bought a strong healthy season and great playoff run sure, but that wasn't the reality. So it's it's kind of a b and c with Gordon, but you know Brown who has just resigned isn't going anywhere. Tatum's going to get his contract cambuslang. In anywhere, so it's sort of adjusts, you know, your your salary cap position as a results to Hayward or you kind of bring back everybody and you just look to cherry-pick some depth off that balance like you're talking about right or or is there something I'm missing? Yeah. No, I mean and that's the other part of it is in you mentioned Caden pretty extensively Jaylen Brown has also shown he can be foundational second piece that goes he's turning twenty-four I think in like two weeks to have another player like that who and let's face it. The Celtics are pretty fortunate like the wage and they gave him he would Be worth a little more right now. She was going into like restricted free agency. So in addition to those guys being pieces you hope and assume they're both going to get them like camber is what can build which is, you know, an All-Star starters really good. Obviously your concerns about his knee. Hopefully that there's up but with Tatum and Jaylen there's still some there's still a level there. You think if you're if you're a self extension you hope so maybe that's what it takes to kind of get over the hump and you talk about Hayward. Obviously, I know fans are kind of disenchanted with them. He's had some just brutal block really like it's not like these injuries you suffering because he's like frail or like, you know, like just just brutal brutal luck. But off this year when he was healthy like last year when he was healthy. He was still not himself. It was clear this year when he was healthy looked really good. He was one of the best players and I think it was encouraging birth. You there aren't a lot of Gordon hayward's out there. We talked about like moving off of Gordon Hayward like he's back and playing like he's capable. That's a pretty big asset to have particularly. If you're putting them alongside our guys like Jason jail and who were still on their uptrend?
NBA Campus Intel: Lakers' Offensive Woes Continue in the Bubble
"Thing about the bubble is I think it's GonNa. Be Really hard to execute your primary offense. If you will 'cause is way more indepth scouting of every team because you can literally go and see those teams in the bubble and they're all on TV and you have plenty of time to. Track things and check things out may make for uglier place more physical playoffs where these games, the defense sometimes is optional for much of the game. But I I guess I'm not a sold in Lakers and clippers and bucks even though I still think the Lakers clippers and bucks will be the Ford. Three of the fourteen remaining obviously the one thing with it's it's interesting as Ben? Simmons tweaks his knee right where you start to think to yourself wait I thought that that Joel embiid was going to be the injury plagued. One Simmons was one who had the back back issue before Kovic shut things down and now he tweaks a knee. Meanwhile, you got embiid who doesn't seem to be happy with anybody. Such a talent team but one that doesn't seem to have the ability to kind of get right but dude embiid is so talented. WHOA. So crazy talented I do think generally in the NBA now the jazz shake Milton playing the point gives them a viable scoring weapon I still like him on not nearly as much if Ben Simmons but you know they do al Horford but it would. It feels like it would kill there. Any chance to come out of the east. If you don't have been Simmons,
Ben Simmons' Injury Calls for More Consistency From Joel Embiid
"More bad news regarding Ben Simmons yesterday. He reportedly has a nerve impingement in his lower back. As a result he's expected to now be sidelined for an extended period of time. He will be reevaluated. In two weeks there is little expectation. Though that he'll be close to return at that point. Nick is the sixers season basically in jeopardy or is now this embiid. It's time to go out there and own it and shine. Yes and yes yes. They're seasons in jeopardy. Their season jeopardy basically evidently since the season started when they did not take a leap forward and step instead they took a step or a step and a half backwards but yes also this is Joel. Embiid opportunity to show everyone. We can be better without Ben Simmons. Mb Better with a point guard or with a collection of players in return for Ben Simmons that better fit my very unique skill set in the modern NBA. That Simmons and embiid have been an awkward fit from the beginning because of Simmons refusal to shoot and because embiid even though he will take some three pointers is maybe our last remaining old school. Nba Center back to the basket. Give me the ball. I'M GONNA punish you on the post and so the fit has just been awkward. And we've seen that. Both guys have at times played their best basketball games. The other guy has missed playoffs last year. Maybe best game whose career was a game. Joel embiid was out. Joel embiid the highest scoring game of his career. Literally was the other night when Ben Simmons was out and so I think Antoine. With or without Simmons. This is not a championship level team. They have not played to that level anywhere close with through fifty five games while the bucks clearly have but it is an opportunity for Joel. Embiid to give the sixers. Maybe a sneak preview of what the team would look like if this offseason. They were to see what Ben Simmons could fetch on the open market. I believe that. Obviously they're not. They're not a team that can win win with either one of those guys together or without them. They're not going to be able to win. And these two conference. I think the fourth best team in the East I think obviously Milwaukee's better than the Celtics. Antonio I think all three of those teams better than them even when phillies whole Right now this is going to be opportunity. L. andbranch legitimate shot to really get take a really good sample size of what they all. Look like if Ben Simmons then play and I would look at it. I will take that approach. Because that's been the compensation that maybe these guys cannot 'cause this together so I will take a look at that and see if embiid could be the guy that you can build around and see if you can win with him that fourteen game five hundred. Just settling scores still out there. Tobias Harris a guy you pay big into free agency. You still have him. Obviously Josh Switches on team you made a great trade thought an ad and scorns the team without its birth and then Robinson added to other guys. That can score the basketball. So they're not they're not out of they're gonNA make the playoffs. They should be able to win a first round series without Ben Simmons Back Andrew. I take that very serious. I think this is something that you cannot rush rush back. This is a guy a franchise type player. So you don't want to rush him back just for this season so you gotta make sure he's healthy. But I do not believe when even with both of those guys that are fourth best team in the East and you got to be very cautious to bring a same as back a- and at times it's unfair we've said on this show before the single best in life in the NBA. Is the the non superstar on the Max contract because you get all the money with none of the pressure none of the criticism? We talk so much about Simmons and embiid. Tobias Harris has not played nearly up to the standards. They paid him to play at an Al Horford. That that move right now is one. They would like back the money they gave. Horford in the fit. But those guys are I. Don't WANNA say untradable with those guys are going to be on the team next season. So you do want to see what those two guys can look like with. Embiid there without Simmons but the the numbers are are jarring. As far as way win the sixers are at their best with with embiid without some between show him. I think within bead without Simmons with Simmons without embiid with both of them with neither so that's their margin that's their net rating with just embiid. That is a that is a great team as far as net rating with just Simmons. That's a good team with both of them. That's an average team and obviously with neither of them. It's a terrible team. You don't WanNa see the numbers like that that somehow they are the worst with both of them then with just one of the two it does speak to potentially a bigger problem also to add to that. I just think when you're to superstars in both of those guys are stars last year. Yep they didn't get better You know you gotTa You. GotTa sometimes you look in the mirror. Ben Simmons to shoot a jump shot. That's embarrassing you know. You had to add a jump shot you smith all summer. You got everybody filming. You shoot. Jump shots you only want to shoot. Won The game so let me ask you this then. There have been so many stops along the way where we're Ben. Simmons could have been like. Oh okay reality check or now. It's time for me to now. It's an off season. It's time for me to get better. I've gotten myself so far if Joel embiid goes out and carries this team and I know that the record coming up or their schedules schedule is going to be a little bit easy but say they go out and be great without Ben Simmons. Could that be a wakeup call? Could that be a a little bit of a gut check like listen? I got I got to step my game up if this is not where my future is looking at. This has been. The talk is the conversation L. Brent. They may have the sits may have no they don't trade it and neither one of them but I think if you WanNa trae one of them you get a good look at. I think it's just a fact you get an opportunity to look at it. Take a real good sample size and see what you like. If you WANNA take one or the other I will keep both of them. I will just hold both of them accountable. I think you have to have real talks with them and say if you WANNA get on to the next level. We got to continue to improve. That's everything when be continue working on his body getting better law he what. He's good and where he could be effective at his game. Ben Simmons has to develop some type of jump shot or at least attempt some type of Johnson for him to continue to get better so he can expand his game. You gotta put that pressure on them and these guys have been making all star teams. These guys are supposed to be getting you over the Hump and getting you back to the finals. And they're not making the right adjustments in their game. So it'd be interesting to see what what Philly does. But what's so odd is their first year together. They were a dynamic. On-court pair that the net rating that. I just showed when they're together is point. Nine less than one point was fifteen and a half plus fifteen half their first year together. The year they ended the regular season on that crazy. Winning streak seemed like a really dangerous team going into the postseason until I think it was the celtics knocked him out in the CA- yeah it was the Celtics in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs last year together. They were not as good as plus half but plus eight when they're on the court together this year to be plus one inch or two best players it makes no sense. Ginny. You say the reality check. Promise reality if you've been similar like well first year in the league. I'm the best rookie. My second year in the League I I make an all star team. Then I get a Max contract thirty in league all star again. I'm making Max money. Seems like what I'm doing is working here so it depends on what your what your ultimate goal is and what you measure success by. I think been someone who would sell. You Failed Never
Four players most likely on the move at NBA trade deadline
"Team. I'm intrigued by is the Philadelphia. Seventy sixers who came into the season as a favorite to win the east. But I think they're aware see right now than people probably would have predicted and wild Tobias Harrison. Al Horford have both played well. It's still unclear whether any of these players including Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid should even be on the same team. Do you think there's any chance they make a big move ahead of the deadline or you can never say there's no chance but I think there's not A. There's not much of a chance that they move any the of their starters. So that's Harris Horford Embiid J. Rich and Ben Simmons or Matisse table who everyone and their brother wants because he's good and young and can you know defend like seven people. Once part of the reason I didn't mention much. I think they're going to do the obvious thing which is trying to package their little fringe stuff and see if they can get a little upgrade a guy that can shoot and come off the bench and all that but ah if they like. You said they're six.
James passes Bryant on NBA scoring list in Lakers' loss

"Plus offer sheet for him. I think it's realistic. We'll see Kemba Walker Charlotte Hornets. Boy, they're in a between a rock and a hard place. You either pay Kemba a lot of money and lock yourself into a team that isn't very good. Or you let him walk in, then it's paint time Zac. If they were going not going to pay him. They knew the neighborhood, it was gonna take the keep him and that was guaranteeing that fifth year on a deal. Then why didn't you trade him at the deadline? That's what I don't understand if they were to just let him walk here. Yeah. I mean, the noise is been all over the place. And, you know, all indications are he came out and said, he would take a little bit less than two supermax. I don't think they were ever going to offer him. It's actually good. It's a good play. I'm going to I'm going to take less. Less of something that they were never going to offer me anyway. So when you do the looks like you were Bonello it was a smart play by Kemba. He's still going to be a player who potentially is going to get a nearly two hundred million dollar deal in Charlotte one, seventy one ninety what's the number at the Michael Jordan comes to a we'll see. And I'm fascinated if that deal dubs, come to how are they getting under the tax? How many picks are assets or stretch provision waivers? What are they doing to get under? The let's move on Al Horford opting out of his deal with Boston telegraphing to the Celtics. He has a place or places he would rather play, what is the latest on Mr. L. Well, it is a source of great intrigue, among front offices all over the league. You're not agents who are trying to figure out who really has cap space and who's cap spaces phantom, because they have Al Horford slotted in their Al Horford is a smart player. He's got a smart agent. Jason glue schon. They are not walking away from Boston without knowing that, there is something significant out there. And that significant deal is probably at four years, perhaps over one hundred million dollars. There was a limit where Danny Ainge boss wanted to go Al Horford. They do value him greatly, but he's thirty three years old idea of going for four years smart play by Boston. It's the right play. And it's going to get bossom salary cap space and flexibility, if they want to go after a Kemba Walker in Kolevic, they can do some things in free agency to. We'll see. I mean if he wants his set in stone deal on June thirtieth that would seem to rule out teams for Horford that need to make decisions on three or four different players, which would seem to rule out. So my favorite Misra teams. That's that's another day. The most mysterious big-name free agent on the market, DeMarcus cousins. What are we supposed to do at the markets cousins?.

"Grayson Allen, Kyle Korver. Plus forward, Jae Crowder, along with the twenty third overall pick in the draft and a future. First rounder SPN front office insider, Bobby marks, I think we're starting to see a little bit of the trend right now. Right. We saw the Lakers on Saturday with the Anthony Davis trade, and now we saw Utah quarrying Mike, Conley ACN an opening with, especially with how Golden State with Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson, and how this roster in Utah was they see this kind of as a forty eight to fifty million fifty team before the trade. And this now gives them an opening. And this is the DNA of this front office. They've always built this team through the draft in traits. And although they would had thirty three. A million dollars in cap space Mike Conley? Their big free agent edition. This off season are there. Domino's here with this, Mike. Conley trae Bobby while there is, and it affects the Boston Celtics. Because remember that the Celtics have the grizzlies first round pick in two thousand twenty it's protected one to six. And then it's unprotected in two thousand twenty one. And I think this trade signals that this Memphis team isn't a clear rebuilt. So Boston could be the big benefactor out of this trade, and they got three first round picks this year. But there seems like they're losing guys Al Horford just turned down to thirty million dollar option for next season with Boston, which is a pretty big number to turn down. What's the market going to be like, for Al Horford? Why think the market is you don't out that of a thirty point one million dollar number unless you know that that's going to be there waiting for. And I think you're looking at a comparable number three years, possibly ninety million dollars for Horford as, as a free agent there. And that's a that's a, that's a big number for especially where he is in age. But there are teams out there. They're like Dallas, Sacramento, possibly Brooklyn, if they miss out on some of the targets that will have cap space. But as I said, you don't opt out of that number and less, you have a landing spot. He's thirty three years old, and it sounds like it's gonna be a soft landing. That's for sure. All right. So, but it does kind of feel like things are getting sideways in Boston. If Horford leaves Kyrie Irving has reportedly ghosted the team, very little communication with them of late. He's expected to turn down a player option in both of those guys leave. What's the plan there in Boston? Well, I wanna paint a little bit of a brighter picture than it was yesterday in Boston. And I think we have to we have to remember that they still have Jason Tatum. Jalen Brown and Marcus smart as kind of three foundation pieces to build around. They will also have possibly twenty million dollars cap space go out and get a player to replace Horford, and they also have Kerry Rozier to bring back. And so that's a good starting point. They also have the three first round picks in the draft Tamar, fourteen twenty and twenty two along with that Memphis pick. So it's not doom and gloom in Boston. But it is a little bit of a restart their wanna headlines coming down from the NBA as we head into Thursday's draft quite a few headlines to sort through to the guys that we've got a news. But nans Tony evolving. Big Indian names on the move. Mike Conley has been traded from Memphis to Utah. Al Horford isn't just opting out of his final year. He's not a Boston and looking for new team and perhaps. More surprising. Chris Milton opting out of his family year in Milwaukee to his floor his options. So let's get right to it, which of these is the biggest story to you. First of all, I would have to ask, why would Chris Middleton doing this? That is a team the Milwaukee Bucks that appears to be on the verge of winning title. So yeah, maybe you can tell me about that. But to get to the actual question Al Horford is a guy who makes good team better. He's a veteran. He's unselfish. He's been around a long time. Everybody's better with him. But Mike Conley is a guy could make a good team. Greg, Mike Conley to me is the most under appreciated guy in the NBA for a few years now. So to me, the real big deal is Mike Conley. Yeah. I mean Horford is sort of a while because what happened to Boston from L year and a half ago. I mean comes back yesterday were comes back. That's not as good. I'm blaming kyri more than anybody on that, right? Does their record with versus without a stunning sold, so Horford, leaving just think this friendly. But I'm gonna go with you. Mike conley? Tony going that Utah team. That's a playoff team. Now my goodness. They got and he's the guy with the key. He knows how to drive and he's had not much in Memphis for most of his career. Oh, it's got something that indicates clearly is at Memphis. We'll take John Maria with clearing Colleen bringing in Grayson Allen. And Jay Crowder and core whose can still show, but he's thirty eight years to me. Let's get back on the topic of the Lakers for a second because Ricky Rubio is now is available free to go where he wants you can't get Crispell Lakers, Ricky Rubio is a pass first point guard, and they've got LeBron James and who's right? He knows how to find people. But let me this hurts the rockets even more to me because the Lakers. Attention will not. Just got a lot better. They have incentive now to get this together. Now with the guy got on that team contests choppy waters around them. Sportscenter allnight ESPN radio. Brought to you by Pennzoil synthetics, taking synthetic motor oil performance to a whole new level. Make the switch to Pennzoil synthetics today. And of course, there's the Lakers, they made their deal for Anthony Davis over the weekend. But we find them currently scrambling to free up some more calorie salary cap space before the start of free agency, and the eyes are on general manager, rob Pelinka the reports are he pulled off the deal. But did so without knowing the salary, captain locations, and now that the trades been agreed to the Lakers trying to correct things on the fly, they're trying to open up extra salary cap space to sign another match free agent space. That would have existed at the Lakers, simply waited a few days to finish the trade ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, there's really only a few guys left on the roster. Okay. Right. You can feel the team right now but everybody else is not on the Roger and then there's can't hold for those other guys. And I think that, you know, kind of what they're looking at it. Like you can you can move three players fans. The probably never heard of which is Malaga was their first round pick from last year. Was actually not a bad player. They keep the definitely you might start on this game. What they have. Right. You can move him. And then there's I Bonga who was a second round pick it actually tonight. Fear Jamaica Jones, another Geely guy pay? But all of those each of those guys make somewhere like one point four one point nine and we are in where every dollar counts. And I think they, you know, when I talked to the Lakers, he's as it feels like they're competent, they're going to be able to free up more than that twenty three point six million that they currently would have the deal goes through, and everything is concentrated the way. Been reported right now if everything's fans are gonna have more than that. It's just a matter of how, and when Mona if they can make the mathematical gymnastics work in find the space for that potential third star, who is the most realistic target for the Lakers in this moment to pair with LeBron AD. I guess I'd go with Kyrie. There's nothing outside of, you know, this is a fit that they obviously need a point guard and LeBron him history thing. You look, I don't see it, but I you know laying how on is that he's looking in different directions. That that's not what he thinking. But. Nobody really knows quiet thinking, which is always the wild card here and, you know, the Lakers, the Lakers could be in for him. Right. I think they have a, you know, they have to they have to try to position themselves to where if they are in it, they have a chance to actually get him and the only way to really get a guy like Cairo or coli would be enough space. So those are the Q I think the targets that would be worth it to do all gymnastics for. I don't know if it'd be worth it to do dramatics for anybody else. All right. So let's say they managed to try to get these three guys taken by other teams to get their contracts so that they can get one hundred twenty five percent of Davis contract. He still would have to waive that four million dollar bonus that tree bonus. Now on the one hand a lot of people are arguing. Listen, if you have the opportunity to play on a team with the Braun and another superstar. You're making your life easier for a small price of four million dollars that you're gonna make up in any any number of opportunities, even potentially something, the Lakers can do behind the scenes without telling people that doesn't get hit by the cap and plenty of other people, very rightly saying, why would you ask someone who is not even technically a part of your team yet to give up four million dollars because of your own negligence? And understanding how the timing of the deal would affect your cap space. Where do you fall on that? So I, I don't think eighty is going to give up that trade like he shouldn't have to anything he look at this. I mean he's a free agent in a year. Like they, they need to do everything right by him. They should be at him to give up anything in my reporting on it. He's not gonna do it. You know, I guess, I guess I always qualify it an ethnic qualifying it, not by sourcing qualifying. But, you know that if there was a chance of real chance, you don't have a you have a conversation. Now you have a conversation when there is a real chance. And I don't think we're there yet. So if you know let's, let's see what he said, if they really could get Colli. I, I don't think they will. But let's see you get to that stage. That's the only thing holding it out. Maybe he has a different answer. But my understanding is not planning on waiving that bonus. That's, that's his money shouldn't have to. It would have been different had the Lakers done the deal differently with can't face it mind before pulling off that trait straight ahead. Lot of is on the World Cup. "Included to and I think the rockets had an opportunity in this game. Even though they were playing from behind throughout James harden got hurt. He was scraped in the eye by dream on green dream on apologize. Of course, that makes everything. Okay. And Steph curry. He got hurt. He injured his finger early on. So bullet is left. But then came back and play was there. A was controversy over the foul calls on three point shots. No, not really I thought it was a -ficiating rather. Well, okay. No problem with it. James harden, was fouled on a three point shot attempt because he was fouled on three point shot at them. That's why was called. It was to me was a clear about Al. But the rockets air thought this was interesting because they made a run late third quarter early fourth quarter that got it within three. So it was a basketball game late and a part of that run came without James harden on the floor. They're actually playing well without him out there, but for the Houston Rockets to win this series and to win some games in this series, James Horton's gotta be better. And that's not to sit here and say stunk last night, I scraped and the I was bleeding out of his I was disgusting. Scored twenty nine points in this game. I get it was awful. But if they want to win the series, he's got to be better than good. He's got to be great. And I just and this is while never pick the. Rockets to beat the warriors. I guess until Kevin Durant with the Knicks and the roster looks different James. I don't trust James harden in a big moment. How good I do that. I I'm with you. I would agree with that. He has improved it. He hasn't won a championship. I mean, you know is one finals appearance. He was a bench player really the Oklahoma City. Sure, I get I get it all, and I think the other thing is, and this is a very simplistic thing. But it's true. The Golden State Warriors have a lot of brilliant basketball players or a lot of great sewers. You can't give them extra possessions. If you do that, you're going to lose, right? So if you lose the turnover battle, and you lose the offense rebound, which means you're giving the warriors fourteen fifteen twenty more attempts than you to put the ball in the hoop. You're going to learn because they're better. That's what killed them last night. Too many turnovers and they got beat on the offensive glass. What games you got Toronto in Philly play tonight tonight. Or just Portland against the only game. The only game tomorrow is just Toronto against Phillips game to Portland. That is correct Denver is up one in Denver. The earlier game was Boston Milwaukee and early on a look like you know, what this reminded third quarter in his game. Yes. This year by the of net. Sixers. Yes. At Celtic Al Horford soon agreed on God cough, and in the books just took off seven game series this series, seventy the way, but follows the Brooklyn Philly model the over. Well, it's not it'll be over to fix no fence that your team Celtics, better know, they are. So I see this being a certainly six probably seven ever goes. I do give out Horford a lot of credit. I mean defending yawn is almost an impossible task at this point. He is a guy that's almost impossible to defending Al Horford is not a very solid job of do. I over the first two games. I think the concern is the Celtics in the second half kind of reminded you of the regular season Celtics ton of threes in his game. The walkie like twenty three's in this game. They went twenty for forty seven for was Chris Middleton who had a great year this year. He's a free agent. In fact, most of the boxer free agents except recon us, which is fascinating. But Middleton all star year was lethal from the outside. My buddy brook Lopez. A bunch. The game and the bucks needed that. Obviously, I think more than even just winning some more than just winning winning the most important second most important thing is I think blowing out helped out to win that game. I mean he had to win. You can't go to home. No. But don't feel very good of winning is important. It was the most important thing. I think that invincibility that they had in the regular season. Maybe get that confidence back. That's swagger back dominating them in the second half the way they did. Right. So the box even that series. The warriors are up to. I mean, I expect a rockets they get to get a game back. But I just I can never see them beating the warriors seven game series. I just can't see it and the Portland Denver series. I think will be a lot of fun. I like watching Damian Lillard play even cantor playing right now is actually sort of fun to watch a big role in that Portland team. And the nuggets, you know, they've had a very quietly awesome season. And they've done it with a big man that passes as well. As anybody I've ever seen in the coal joke. It so should be an interesting game tonight and obviously Toronto Phileas series. I do I'll admit I do not care as a very appealing series to me. It's it's complete tossup series. It's very appealing teams have Toronto has been in the playoffs. Allot a recent times. But you know, it's appealing series for two teams that you know, it's been a long time. Phileas wanna championships? Nineteen Eighty-three sizes does appear larannu Celtic book series is appealing to Toronto fills. It's just too soon. I'll watch the reason why I get the reason the other three series. You know, I'll be glued to as far as the islanders are concerned tonight. It's very simple. You have to win. They gotta win. And they got to put the puck into that. Well. That's it. And that was their problem. And it was really their biggest problem throughout the regular season. It's not a new issue. They want a lot of games one this year. Lot of game. Three to a lot of games. One. Nothing. They've had more disallowed goals than goals in the first two games. Winston. I feel confident from your lips to God's the gods win tonight. I hope so they want to extend this series better. You don't wanna go down three. That's I'm sure toll free number eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six Trevor's Vernon Trevor Trevor. Hey, guys. Huge fan. About three thousand. You know, big on somebody to they had a problem. So his resonating may not be the best for the all. But I think if the huge personal accomplishment for him to overcome that he went through don't you by getting all even though I don't think he's all the fame didn't use gonna get in. There's a lot of things about CC that makes me want him to be a hall of Famer. But at the end of the day, you gotta look at the resume, and you gotta say does it stack up with the other pitchers that are in the hall of fame, or should it be a resume that goes into the hall of fame? I think he falls a little bit short. But he's a guy that we all routes very likable guy that helps because the media likes him. Yeah. Doesn't help on our end because we don't vote. What it does help doesn't hurt? No, Damian is in queens, Damian. Our you. What's up? Hey, guys, I've been with for a long time. I never felt the need to call before. But I gotta say that chase Butleigh thing. That was totally dirty horrible play. I mean, change baseball. You know, it's terrible play. I can't think of by try not to be by by think that's clouding judgment as to how bad that play. What I don't think. Wilma said, well, he's made no bones about it immediately. Yeah. And he's going to be biased to one of his closest friends who right, right? Look, I think we all try to not be biased because we have teams we root for and so you wanna be as fair as you can if I thought it was a plywood says dirty would I would I like hard baseball. I think most of us. Do we like that the hard takeout slide like all of that all the old school baseball? And while I think the slide of anything was borderline in close to being late. I think over on. I'm watching it right now when off of colognes glove, the flip that the Hotta. I mean, it's it's close to being late. But I just didn't think it was overall that dirty and what really annoyed me about it too. Was how they ruled them safe. Remember that I don't remember that. No, I forget why maybe it's because the ball came out of the hottest hand eventually or something like that or they they reviewed something. But the thing that I came away with most annoyed. Benford Dada getting hurt was the fact that they ended up calling him slate safety ended up reviewing in calling him say. Always to involve with the Dodd. Yeah. Remember now, actually go back out there at second base. I should Huey and Saint Louis. Hey, guys. How are you? What's up? Hey, get the warmer. So at Evan. You're right. I was thinking about that. It was double whammy when utley with safe then to head the broken leg. I remember thinking we lost both ends of that. Call. Yeah. So. Yeah. I remember that very well. The funny thing is bullet and GIO. We're talking about met Dylan's today, and I had the healthy hatred for utley. Obviously, we all think about Chipper, but I think we all had very healthy respect for Chipper. And I fall Chipper on Twitter now, I again, I wish tip. It was that's ugly. I'd ever wish was Chipper. I always there's just something about that guy that I always liked and even though he killed us in you'll for ten years every time he came up. He seemed like he had a home run. You still gotta love that guy. And Wilmer I always thought the story was warmer with David Wright had informed him that he was that. There was talking and being traded. I never heard anything about rumor where we're actually going into the house. We'll get voted always been dated. Maybe maybe now that he's. On the Ross refill free to tell you that. Yeah. I check my phone even though I supposed to but. Yes. So he basically said he he noticed the way the crowd started to treat them that. They started to cheer him a lot more. And I remember, you know, I remember well Joey in Yonkers. Flora's or maybe they were right? Thank show. I remember. We were all giving him a bigger hand. It was a real belong. Right, right. They lost six nothing six to one something of that nature. And so it was one of those games out. You knew they were gonna lose. It was frustrating. Yeah. He was getting a big hand because we're all on Twitter all checking what's going on. And that is on fair for the player. I just trying to have met villains. I mean, Pat burrow, always comes to mind. Yeah. Who you know used to kill him. But I mean when I think one team. Trying to one team. There's so many teams over us. A hated. I think I think the team I probably aided the most as a met fan over all the years how to be the cardinals in the eighties. I mean that team even more. So than a Braves, I mean, it was it was just something. I just couldn't stand him. I mean, it was like nobody liked on at team. Yeah. I felt that way about the Braves though, because you had a manager that always tried to stick. Hers off did too. But isn't this difference? And again, I'm bias didn't experience the Mets ended up getting a laugh because they won the World Series and nineteen Whitey Herzog said it's over in April. They never did that to the brand team. Well, obviously eighty two hundred and was still air. But once the Mets got greedy eighties did make the World Series, but didn't win. All right. So then you feel like the ultimate Victor. And also your team. I really I mean, you know, they eighty eight dodges. I mean, you know, my feeling that sauna..

"Just described would probably be their response that look he didn't have he did not have as full complement guys other than those twenty three games and those twenty three games they looked right? I'm not going to judge him on this other stuff. Did did. I like it. No. Could we have done better? Yes. But with the roster fully intact. He's doing a good job. We expect this to be better moving forward. This is the guy believed in whatever would be three years ago. I still believe in him. Now, we're going to go again, the fact that magic didn't hire him that he's somebody else's higher. And it just seems that going all the way back to beginning the season, Maryland, the Lakers got off to a little bit of a slow start and maj three something like that. Yeah. And magic had that, hey, you know, fix fix this. What's going on leads me to believe that he's probably not invested in Luke the way that somebody that hired Lou quickly. That's why I think it's inevitable. That will be the reason why that and the fact that when has guys weren't healthy. He didn't seem to have the ability to coach up what he did have that. There were way too many moments from my perspective as somebody outside looking in. When I myself, particularly on the offensive side of the floor moving going. What's the play? Like, I understand that you trying to get someone open. But I don't understand how that's happening, and I saw way too many times in which either coups was ice owed and dribble ten seconds, and then kicked it around. And it just seemed like there was a clear identity when you look at the team like the boss. Celtics. For instance, you kind of know what the trying to do, you know, high screening row, blah, blah, Al Horford float to the top of the key if Ingram or Terry can't find a shopping sales. They swing the rock and eventually finds his way to the wide open topic. He usually out Horford or someone like that. I get that. When you look at what's happening with the Golden State Warriors. When the ball is moving now when it sticks because Katie wanna play eyeso- when a ball is movie. He see what's happened. You see stuff moving into base night. You see the secondary screen already said. So when you chase him you didn't realize it was another screen there for you in all stuff needs split-second. He's open. I see that play. When I look at the Lakers, I go now who's supposed to be trying to score who's trying to get the ball is. This for Ingram is this for coups. Are are we doing some sort of motion office and whoever pops out open gifts to shot if so then why is this guy not shooting the ball? Like, it was I found myself scratching my head a lot and I get it plan with. Ron James can be difficult in the sense of maybe the ball doesn't move in the same as it does for other teams like Golden State Warriors. But a guy that's leading the league as a small Ford among all Ford's, and and assists..

"They don't shoot very many free throws. Marcus Morris at the line. It's a free throw. The Sixers only have four free throws since the six and a half six twenty minute. Mark to go here in the third. Pros go downs for Morris Celtics, take the lead sixty nine sixty eight to twenty five and counting to go. In the third Butler flipside to Rettig factor. Jimmy, the top ball overhead finds MP ball. Hit the deck now. MB dribbles once fires from seventeen missed it. Right on the Mark rebound Boston. They've got him out of sorts. No question. Joel Embiid still in single figures with eight points here. Here's Horford at the top they'll suit, a triple knock, you down bell review it in the break but accounts for three right now, Celtics seventy Sixers sixty eight two minutes left Siu finishes better. It was the Sixers and quarter one Celtics and quarter two Butler behind the screen missing from the right wing rebound, Celtics, elite by four with one forty five to go into third can sense the concern in the building you can almost feel it. Here's Hayward box able to get a shot off as he corinn's to the deck. Fouled hills. Shoot two thousand gonna be a Joel Embiid. His third. You mentioned the big numbers Joel has had in the first two meetings this year between the two Christmas day at thirty four points and sixteen rebounds, twenty three and ten on opening night held to eight point so far your type Al Horford is done a great job on him. And he's also frustrating on the other end because Horford Kazadi he's making some threes. When he doesn't make the three just puts the ball on the. Floor and goes by him. And Joel Embiid understands what's going on both ends of the floor. He's just not a sport. There. Don't forget. We're talking to guide its top ten in the league in blocked shots. Also, he's just under to block shots a game. He's not happy with the way he's playing on either end of the floor Gordon Hayward. It's both free-throw seven straight. Boston points at ten to run. Celtics had seen at the lead. There. Back in front. Seventy four sixty eight ninety seconds to go in the third. PJ McConnell dribbling inside the arc now on the left side dodging traffic, also the center of the floor and knocks home a fourteen. Footer instant offense. We have the microwave when new microwave theory, Philadelphia TJ, really productive minutes right points in eight minutes, and now defending Marcus smart, right near the half court, light, tempest shoot. What else? Seven to go in the third Celtics by four Marcus toll on a tasty too wide of the Mark offensive rebound outside Horford. Hey, launches for three and connects again from the top Celtics lead by seven offensive board meets with three. I'm not sure he wasn't on the line. I think they'll I don't know if they're going to review it or not they're going to review a couple of his three pointers in the next dead ball. Joel Embiid at the top forty six seconds to go in the third. It's a cutting Cutler down the lane puts it up. No, good, late whistle from Scott foster on the baseline as Gordon. Hayward was trying to stay with them. Joel Embiid had worked for good position. He was gonna dunk the rebound. He was almost unhappy to hear the whistle is he was just going to get a dunk offense. Rebound. They with the second foul Jimmy Butler headed to the line. Jimmy's done a nice job over this last week guy came over and you bring Tobias Harris over is Butler hits the first two and so far just wants wants to show with his game here in Philly rather than say anything about, you know, not enough shots for too many guys. He's got the game. And I think if I'm not mistaken, I'm gonna shut up here for a second. And see what happens because free throw comes both thirty six in a row, I believe six consecutive free throws for Jimmy Butler is three three thirty six zero as the Sixers. Get within five thirty five seconds to go in the third Boston attacking dribble. Handoff Rosiere pulls up for fourteen off the back iron, Embiid rebounds. With twenty eight seconds to go in the quarter has been quiet since that inappropriate shot. He took in the first half. Filling in for Cairo Irving out injured McConnell's bounce pass deflected by Hayward right to Boston. Dow Taylor Brown. Blocked from behind by envied, and it goes out of bounds to Philly. Brad can't believe it. Brad. Stevens is looking for an offensive interference. He cannot believe. There was no call again. No. If you're gonna shoot it with that much time left in the quarter. You have to make sure the Philly a chance to close again that was really close on the replay the big basket interference dot called. So it's six seconds to go in the third. Philly has it. Here's Butler on the three point line drives against Horford down. Low puts it up. Great drive-by Butler beating Horford for two the Sixers get within three headed to the fourth quarter Boston right where they want to be there still controlling the overall tempo. But obviously either team to get this. View a couple of threes that basket counts their score right now. After three quarters Boston, seventy seven Philadelphia, seventy four the NBA on ESPN.

Alison, are you getting scared back there? Like if you knew what was down here under Billy's death. That's the other thing. I mean, he's going. He's wading through goldfish backpacks boxes. Ninety three percent of the audience said, no. We're prediction of Dan's was worse. The oh and sixteen lions would make some noise in the playoffs or that. This is this is an important poll here which way or the people going on this Mike is put his head back together here, and is now trash canning. I can't believe he took Dunkin over Hibbert like what are you talking about sixty nine percent of the audience. They can't believe it as well. They're nice. "There is Jorges Sodano set that up because Michael Thompson, I think what happened there. I don't wanna be betraying any confidences. But that that Jorges Adana Michael Thompsons always talking about my father. And so let's just call him. I don't even know if my father knows how to use FaceTime. The number of times, I've looked at his ear on FaceTime. That's the that's the visual having a hard time grasping and face timing. Don't you guys believe that Klay Thompson is going to end up being Laker? I may not after that news. You've got him going to the heat. It really looks. I think we've been making fun of the next for twenty years hell when LeBron signed here in New York remember on York thought, hey, he's doing his television show near New York. Therefore, he's going to the Knicks. That's what I thought. And for ten years now, we've been welcoming them to a decade of irrelevant where at the tail end of that decade. Yeah, they've been every bit as relevant as we predicted in two thousand and ten thanks to look up though. Which is dog chasing cars, though. It's the next we're building the the next super team every week. We've already forgotten about hey, could play with LeBron where we're not even considering that we're all on kyri Durant Zion together, Anthony Davis and LeBron out west. We just can't keep up every week. That's why it's the league is in such great shape. Not just internationally and not because it's easy to play. But because of all the drama, but then. You guys think if Kevin Durant leaves I think win horse at fifty percent chance and then guest he guests that with the next impressed them to fifty percent in. But if he leaves if you're the warriors, don't you just go back to what you already had you give Klay the money, you give Steph Steph has the money on On the money. the money you go back to what you had. But you are now a team that can be beaten in game seven of the finals by LeBron James you. Yes, you go back and took a very special thing for Draymond getting suspended took LeBron heaven crazy games. I mean, that's say be the favorite. But it remains the greatest upset I've seen since the pistons bright, Shaq and Kobe and Furthermore at the end of the game with Kevin love guarding him injured or not Steph curry pooped himself. Like, that's what happened LeBron James took that moment. And now tells everyone who will listen, I'm the greatest of all time because I did that and Michael never did. So and and he had the defensive play of the game. But that's the best team. I've told you I've ever seen and I was stunned to see it lose. Right. But I did I understand that. But when you say Clayton to the Lakers, yet that would make sense if Durant stays with the warriors. But if not I think just stays with Golden State feel like it's a foregone conclusion. Now that when I read all of these updates like Ethan Strauss. The warriors are prepared. Fired for Kevin Durant leaving like they they'd like to keep him. But when you read Ethan Strauss who's around this. There's that that it seems a bit of a foregone conclusion that Durant went to get there what he wanted. And now we'll go back to doing with his legacy secure, even though you accused him of taking shortcuts with championships and to- he's going to spend whatever is the rest of his basketball life chasing those championships. But not meeting them. Okay. That's fine. But I do wonder he doesn't eat them, by the way. But I do wonder thank you thrown in there. Well, he needs 'em. He knows he needs them. Why leaving otherwise he'd stay? And he just collect championship the Golden State because he knows he needs for his legacy, but I don't want. I don't want to do that to Kevin Durant right now. Klay Thompson, if your choice is stay with Steph and dream on the Golden State Warriors. And that's it. That's the team or go play in LA where your dad played with the brand. What do you do L? "And if he doesn't get that pitch off you're getting a watermelon beach ball right down the heart of the plate from this pitching machine of going like eighty miles an hour. So you better beat the clock. Right. You. I mean, that's your choice. Either a beach ball. Are you throw at you wanna throw? And if the beach ball is thrown that's cutting against your stats in spit it up. You wanna pitch a breaking ball? You better beat that pitching machine because that pitching machine is throwing cake right down the middle for people to rush. I is anyone call it Kate. They do now. Two dollars stupidity. This show is bigger than Elvis. So any number of strange things happen around here. My father's celebrity in a number of ways has totally caught me off guard. The power of television is something to behold, even though I don't respect television very much. I think most of it is very silly. And my father being in the middle of what we do every day is a symbolic accentuation of that. But some of the things that happen with my father are crazy like he will rip Tom Thebault for years and call him a butcher and say he could he should be you know, on the sidelines with blood on an apron because he looks like a butcher. And then Tom Theban come on the show, and he will just love my father, hold call Frank Vogel, a barking Chihuahua and Frank Vogel, come on the show and love him. But one of the things that has happened here recently. I just sent my father a tweet from what I believed to be his biggest fan and sports his biggest fan. It's the father of Klay Thompson. Who will not shut up every day about like he will get in front of his television wherever he is. And just stare at my father. And so I'm sitting there showing my father these tweets where Michael Thompson, the father of Klay Thompson is. Is really adoring my father. And so I sent it to my father. And he's like, yeah. I faced timed with him last week. And I'm like what it was like. Yeah. He'd called me. And he was very excited. He said I was the best personality on ESPN. We were talking about how I always get in on the and shake, and he said that Claes your play for the pretty sure that's tampering. The my father's involved. That's right. That's right. Who cares? And I'm staring in my father. I like where you're going to tell me that. And Furthermore, do you know that Michael Thompson played for the Lakers? Do you even know who you're talking to? Do you think, you know, we know Chris phone walked in here the other day? My father's like who the bleep is that Chris Fowler Lewin's? Same thing happened looming who the pipe is that. But your dad close the land and clay. It's exciting replays Riley. It's very strange. You agree that it's that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Right. Oh, it makes sense that he's beloved that makes sense to me. It makes sense that people love him. Michael thompson. Did it makes sense to me? He's funny your dad's footing father's funding. I'm aware of that. I put him on a show for that reason. Even though he thinks he was discovered during the seventh inning of a Marlins game that three thousand people attended. I'm sure hearing that from Michael Thompson will help with your dad's head and negotiation. Well, that's a whole another thing. He's still coming in here. Bill. You've heard it. Right. Every day. You come you hear him complaining about his contract situation? One of the cameramen just said chino just got done telling me today. Just got done telling me. He's like, yeah. I asked you dad, if he was staying, and it seemed like a sore subject, and I was told to leave it alone. I love your dad could derail your career. Oh, for sure for sure. I mean, he could end the TV show. I've already told him I've already told him dead. If you don't do this. I'm not doing it anymore. The hell I want to do it for its vanity project. "I think this is probably the most challenging year coaching from Brad Stevens. As of yet. He has an abundance of talented at abundance of riches, and he's a guy that we've always known made the good great. What is he going to do with great talent right now they have starters right now that are on the bench Gordon Hayward? Jalen brown. I'm scary Terry rosier, they have ventures that are now starting Marcus Morris. Marcus smart, and then they have guys that have solidified their roles, and Kyrie Irving also Jason Tatum and Al Horford, but now coach olives and figure out what's the best midst. What's the best roster? So this is the hardest job Brad Stevens as of yet largely because he has so much talent to juggle. And I think as players are putting out maximum effort is just about putting the pieces of the puzzle. Also, absolutely put it on brass team. Because we've always looked at him as kind of like this whiz kid. We saw last year we cover you urban was out. He saw how this synergy that. The team will move the ball. They will just playing was a unit. What now? You integrate tarry back into the mix a guy who's disapprovingly talented as a eyeso- player. So you almost got two different two different types of.
