"AB sports I'm Josh rowntree, major news Wednesday in college basketball is for the first time in nearly 5 decades. Syracuse will have a new head coach, more from correspondent Dave ferry. Basketball coach Jim beheim said at a news conference Wednesday that it was up to Syracuse to decide whether he returns for a 48th season. The school quickly responded by announcing that assistant Adrian Autry is replacing beheim, who was second on the all time wins list for division one coaches. I've been lucky. To be able to do it. Coach this long. His resume includes 34 NCAA tournament appearances, ten big east regular season titles and 5 conference tournament championships, along with the NCAA title in 2003, but the orange haven't had a 21 season in four years. I'm Dave ferry. On the NBA hardwood, CJ McCollum dropped in 32 points as the pelicans topped Dallas one 13 one O 6. It was good, man, but I'm just trying to win, man. I think that's, out of the score, a lot of points in my career and I hit big shots. I'm just trying to do what I can to help the team win. So it was nice to make some shots and make some plays, but it's even better when it comes in a win. The Cavaliers got by the heat one O four 100 as Evan mobley says defense led the way for Cleveland. I feel like we played pretty good defense. We were in our spots. Sometimes shooters got out. And we followed the shooters. We could do a little bit better with that. And then also them driving middle, but overall I feel like we did a good job. And Boston smashed Portland one 1593, Jason Tatum had 30. Al Horford added 17. I was just really early on taking with the defense was giving me the way they were playing me and guy found me early and I was able to get into a rhythm really early. And on the ice, the wild top the jets four two behind 46 saves for Mark Andre flurry. I thought you guys defended Walt, you know, everybody covered the metal to slat a lot of it. It's not too many grated air and the blocks and shots where it clear blocks away and obviously something nice goes up front to get the leader. I'm Josh Brown tree AP sports.

"It pretty much got filled out like we expected it to. Yeah. Yeah, Scotty Barnes, kid Cunningham, Evan mobley, all unanimous first team. No questions at all about that. Franz Wagner got 84 first team votes, 15 second team votes once. Some poor unfortunate soul did not vote for him period for the all rookie team. But I don't have a problem there. Dan, if gets into jail and green, shouldn't have been Herbert Jones with an outside chance of Josh giddy. Those were the next three guys, Jalen Greene, got the final first place, our first team voting. So your first theme, Scottie Barnes, kid Cunningham, MM mobley, Franz Wagner, Jalen green, so the top four picks in the draft. Plus Orlando had the 5th pick, but not the guy. They drafted 5th. That was Jalen suggs. Then the second team, herb Jones and Josh giddy, but the second team, then bones highland, IO Des Moines and Chris duarte. Rounded out. Jonathan kamina was closest. He had 47 second team votes. Chris duarte had 52 second team votes. Io de soon move got two first team votes. And then giddy and Jones got 24 and 32 first team votes respectively. So I don't have any real problem with this. I think the right guys made it. There, just to close the door on it. Austin Reeves, two second team votes. For your guy. HBK, right? Billy Coleman. Bones highland no matter what. That was my thought going into last year's draft, great to see him doing well. Wish you had a different Jersey, but great to great to see him doing well. He is a lot of fun. I'm glad to see him get that second team. Nod there. I think it was kind of funny. So I put out there on Twitter. I tweeted out something to the effect of Austin Reeves did not make first or second team while rookie and just a picture of Austin Reeves. And people went Berserk. On both sides, I've got Lakers fans saying, what? How is this possible? Shouldn't he be on one of these teams? And then I've got fans of everyone else pointing at this tweet and saying, look how delusional Lakers fans are and how could they even think that I literally just tweeted out he wasn't on first or second second team. And people are taking that. However, whichever way that they wanted, it's fantastic. I love Twitter. Yeah, we can do a whole show on that comment later, I guess. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, in general, I love Twitter too. I really do. I need to be better about setting aside the key ones I encounter each day in the innovating and let's stay on in all this stuff. We'll use this as a trend..

"Hello everybody. Welcome back to the NBA front office show frontrunners. Thank you to everybody who joined us last night for warriors versus maps. Ended up being another blowout game, which still was a lot of fun over on playback. I'm gonna put the link to the playback channel in the description here. So you guys can come join us for the next one that we do, which will still deciding which one will be the next one that we do probably be a Mavs warriors game again, but we'll have to check the schedule on that one. But again, appreciate everybody who joined us last night for that. That was a lot of fun. Keith, we did get a little bit of news here, right before we came on, I'll Horford. We'll be back in action. Now, upgraded to questionable, and I said this to you before we started recording come playoff time if you're upgraded to questionable, that typically means you're playing. Yeah, my guess is, and this is let me be very, very clear this is just a guess. This was probably kept him out of game one was probably some kind of maybe a false positive test. I don't know, maybe there's something else going on testing he may have been a close contact and now they've done the retesting necessary to get him there. So yeah, he was, he was out for game one, then he was doubtful. Yesterday was what his injury designation was. And that could upgrade into questionable today. And that's a weird upgrade unless there's a good chance he's going to play. So I assume that's where it is. Email you don't go for what it's worth has said, continually. He feels fine, and he feels good. So I'm guessing Al Horford is back. Marcus smart probable to play. The word is he's going to test out his foot pre game, but is very likely to play. So we'll see what's going on with this brain drain for him. And then Derek white on the flip side he is out, but they're quite out for the, you know, arguably the very best reason you could ever miss. He's gone home to Boston to be with his wife for the birth of his first child. Is there anyone out there that is critical of that decision saying that is that happening? I would hope not, but I was assuming knowing the Twitter. Yeah. I mean, Trevor, I could say something like ice cream is good. And people would fire back with like, here's why you're wrong. Yeah, there's people out there who are being critical. Some of that is probably just people who get off on being ignorant trolls for what I've never understood. That behavior. But there are legit people who are like, it's the playoffs, like this kid's not going to remember this anyway, and it's like that's not what it's about. You would never, ever forgive yourself if you were missing a birth of a child. That's crazy. So yeah. I mean, whatever people are not jobs, but yes, congratulations to the white family. Email, you don't get did say the plan was she was going to be induced between games when the Celtics returned back to Boston, but as a couple of dads, we know babies have their own. They work on their own schedule..

"Playing three on three. I think in Steve Nash's mind somewhere in the recesses of it, he was thinking this guy might be coming back. Well, that, yes, but also I think if you asked anyone who was their day to today asking the questions, they felt like Steve more often than not said, no, I don't know if he's doing light shooting. He's doing light on court work. He's not even doing XYZ yet. I think when it comes to surgery, I'm not going to act like I'm anywhere close to having the ability or the education to speak on this in a way. But to me, so much of surgery sometimes. Whatever point of the year and whatever they figure, if it was about nerves, I mean, I was trying to read up on this, but again, I don't know whatever the whatever the surgery was called now I can't remember. You can make me pull up the press. Micro disc off to me, I don't know what it was, but the timetable that's stunned. Yeah, but just in about where you're relieving the success rate of it, where you're relieving some of the stress or pressure on your different nerves or on your all of those things to me, I'm sure that's not an easy decision because back surgery is a big deal. But okay, hey, you either may be dealing with this pain or dealing with the stuff you have been and it's going to be up and down or you have the off season to finally get this to write, try and make this better and rehab and then the hope is for the start of the season. For the thought of your career too. I think when they were looking at Ben in all the conversations about him, there was also the preservation of we're not just talking about the end of this year or this postseason or even next season..

"He expressed support for Ben Simmons every time he was asked about him. He said they had enough to win as is. And look, they were pretty good in that stretch before they made the Simmons trade. Seth curry was really good for that team. Obviously Maxie busted out in his second year. He handled that situation as well as anyone could have possibly handled a difficult situation. I think that coupled with the production on the floor was enough to edge jokic and Yanis in on my ballot. And those are the type of things which I don't disagree with you, but those are the type of things when you talk to voters or hear from them. We've heard this in years past. Those are the type of things that some people factor in. Some people take into account some are looking at the bigger picture of everything you're dealing with and handling and others are just okay. Let's look at exactly the play on the floor. And were you the most valuable player to your team in this entire league? So were you the best player in the league? I mean, that's where I think there's fine lines with how you look at it and how you perceive that. But again, I just, I really struggled I have conversations now with people talking about jokic, he's not even in the postseason. No one knows that. You don't know that. You can not speculate that. Moving forward, you can never anticipate that. So to me, that shouldn't even be a part of the conversation. And while it feels off when you're announcing an MVP who's not playing, that's not a part of it. I do also get a little, I mean, look, advanced stats are part of today's NBA, but jokic's, it seemed like every time someone made a case for jokic, the strongest part of that case was the advanced stats and I don't know. I don't disagree with that and I do think the way you said is it's as strong as part of the case. But I also, to me, watching him. Like, that's where I think it, the dialog on that. Sometimes overshadows just watching him. Yeah, yeah, you're right. How supremely talented he is and how dominant he could be in so many different areas. On top of playing without different players, I think because those advanced stats are so highlighted. It's like you also watch him and he's brilliant with how he plays. And so I think there's factors in that where you can't just, I think, now everyone just assumes oh, it's just about the advanced stats with him and the analytics and I think there's a case let's remind you when you actually watch him. He does really, really insane, amazing, incredible things on the floor. Four straight years, a foreign born player, MVP. What's happened to American basketball, Sarah, that's just going down the toilet right there. It's going down. Love to see it. Love to see it. David stern would have loved to see it. David stern loved the globalization of the game. Look at that. Even if it would have been in B look at your top three, you're not even talking about MVPs. That's a three candidates. All three. And look, I'm gonna guess Luca Dončić is gonna get in that four 5 slot. Maybe? I don't know who would get the other part. Tatum maybe John morant will probably be in that mix. So for the top 5, we'll probably be foreign born players, which and that may not change in the foreseeable future. All these guys were talking about are in their prime, under, I believe, the age of 30, all of them. So yeah, they're gonna be playing like that for years to come. Midterm.

"He's still been a shot blocker. He's still been valuable, but I would start Al Horford and grant Williams. Grant Williams didn't play well in game four, but I liked the grant Williams matchup against Yanis with Al Horford on brook Lopez taking Lopez maybe away from the basket. That's one thing that Putin holes is going to have to adjust to. Al Horford was open every single time he caught the ball. Like nobody within ten feet of them out there on the floor. Like I like the idea of forcing Lopez who's been a shot blocker all series, all since he's been back from that back injury, forcing him away from the rim and letting grant Williams deal with Giannis on the other end. Yeah, well, a couple things with that. One when you're talking about one side and that to me was after what game one or two, you could probably point to a lot of them everyone talking about, oh my God, Boston took X number of three points. That's what Milwaukee does. That's what their defense is predicated on. That's exactly what they want you to do. They want to bait you in they'll still try and speed you up in Russia and recover, but they are protecting the paint at all like that is exactly what their defense is designed to do. Because they believe in 7 games, you're not going to have that many games where you are on fire from three that it's going to be over able to overcompensate what they do on the inside and from the inside out, but you're looking at a situation now where that's what you saw with Horford. I think we've seen it with like go down the list of players, guys see one go through, especially on the road. See one go through to go through that's the swing and the balance of what happens when you have some of those smaller guys to pull out whether it's a brook Lopez portis, whoever. But on the flip side of things, I think from Milwaukee offensively, so much of it comes down to, in my estimation and we talked about this, like drew Holliday is the bellwether of this team. Like if he's able to find and to me it wasn't just the shots that he missed and he was excellent defensively. But what shots are you taking? And I would credit Boston's defense for forcing a lot of those, but there was a lot of long twos or there was a lot of isolation. If you're trying to bully your way to get to the basket or get to the paint or get in good ball movement and open shots, but to me, it was a lot of everyone's just spaced out. You're trying to get Yanis off the player, have him initiate the offense from a different spot, but you're looking at this set Boston defense that you're taking a couple of dribbles and taken along too and those if you're not hitting shots, like that sucks the life out of an offense. And I think there was too many possessions where you saw a lot of that. In talking about getting guys involved, whistling Matthews had some good the possessions I love so much about Milwaukee, whether it was Giannis and whether they put them on the wing and had him work that mid post area and that weak side three pointer is going to be open are going to be a good look..

"Talk with the celtics. Let's do exactly that we're going to start with. Mr may daga new head coach of the boston celtics at the time of recording. I don't believe the details of his contract with the team have been announce but i'm sure that will be soon enough. This is boston's eighteenth coach but since early two thousands. It's just the doc rivers and brad stevens show so barring kind of disaster i suspect will be around for a while so let me swing it to you because your mouths aren't numb out. What was your immediate reaction to the hiring and now almost day removes have. Your thoughts changed at all. I was extremely pumped to see that. He may have been formally announced as the head at the head coach going forward for loyal listeners. If you listen to me last absurd and they'll episode before that and the episode. Before you'll know that i was beating the drum pretty hard for the celtics to hire yoka. I e has a ton of experience as an assistant under gregg popovich which is always a plus He is currently assistant for brooklyn nets. A lot of well not is not currently was this past season and i'm very excited about the possibility of running. Some of the kevin durant sets for jason tatum Gocha is respected by a wide variety of intelligent people in the league and most crucially. He has the endorsement of the celtics cornerstone players going. So i am thrilled. My thoughts haven't changed at all from the previous podcast. Mine really excited to dhaka era. And the last thing i'll say is that i am especially thrilled. But the celtics are making a very serious and dedicated commitment to having only attractive people in the organization going forward Folks if you haven't taken a look at dhaka just just do a quick google search man on him and let me know what you find. 'cause that's a good. What could matt right there. Just around out. He's married to the actress nia long so i don't think they have kids yet. I that is a looking hard hitting analysis from celtics lab. Justin odia thoughts dunka keeping with the hard hitting analysis. He doesn't just have the backing of the jays and marcus smart from their time on team. Usa almost two years ago. Now wow But he he also got the endorsement of al horford in the presser. Talk more about shortly. I'm wicked happy that they this guy on One of my editors Passed a very old interview with one of his teammates from nigerian national team of how basically fought their way out of a hostile arena after beating the national team. And if you haven't had a chance to find it whether it's my my take on it or any of the several others that are out there. Just look up nigerian national team fighting. You may adoga. It's quite a tale. Yeah who goes the first nigerian national to coach the nba. I believe just pretty exciting to rake barriers amount way. We've talked about him before. And i'm sure anybody's listening knows background to former player. He kinda grinded on the international circuit as well. He has been assistant with the spurs with the sixers. One al horford was with the sixers and muslim net. So he's going to bring kind of a wealth of experience of lead to the team. I have been really pumped about the offense that he can bring to the celtics because he's worked with the nets and he's worked with the spurs and the celtics probably won't have traditional guard of maybe marcus. Smart would senate. He is attrition. Or i don't know But adoga also really has strong defensive justin tacos about at what we know about. It's a loss vs on defense and actually just getting familiar with the myself. So i can't really speak too much but again bring the al horford al at plenty to say about on how he's been time working with him and he was always a consummate professional. They spend a lot of time working with him on defense when they together in philadelphia. So i'm really curious to see without horford now back in the fold how that is going to affect the celtics who admittedly were not very good. Defensive team was gone up particularly last season. I mean they really fell off a cliff. And i think that is probably a big part of the reason why both of them are on the celtics roster net again spent seven years with the spurs as an assistant so he has seen a team that reimagined that its identity several times with the same thesis. So it doesn't look like an action out some curious. Your thoughts the fact. That smart was so heavily consulted here or at least it's been reported as such suggests to me that the team is looking to make monumental changes to the core the roster alex thumbs up out a you. Can you tell us more about how you feel about that. And how daca fits into that. Yeah well i think. It's just another endorsement Marcus smart is considered one of the core guys for this team going forward and i think that that likely means that you could see the market smart extension happening either. This offseason next offseason. I don't necessarily think that it shuts the door on marcus. Smart then being traded after that extension signed particularly if that's the only way to acquire a third star player. But i do think it indicates that at the very least marcus going to be a part of this team for next year and probably more also think that it probably ups the chances that the celtics are on. They've openly stated that they want to do this at their intent on resigning for I think if you're starting marcus smart as your point guard. You probably need evan formula. Or somebody like having foreign aid to start the two to provide additional spacing and playmaking sto- The daca hiring has me feeling That it's highly likely that the celtics opening night starters for next season are going to be marcus. Smart evan forte. Jaylen brown jason. Tatum and al horford I will be interested to see what this means for the bench As we mentioned before who doku is He's got some offense chops but he really has a rap as being a defensive minded coach celtics bench was not a defensive minded adventure last season. So it'll be interested to see. Because i think that's likely where you're going to be seeing the biggest remaining roster changes furthest team going forward is who's going to be filling that bench but I think doco coming backing means that smart jalen. Jason are here to stay for the foreseeable future. The taught me sounds like that's the case here. There's nothing of course wrong with that it should be noted for any national analysts who are a.

So, with this, with this trade going down, obviously, the other part of this is Moses Brown and you know for this other to give up a first-round pick, make sure everyone is not crazy about that. Maybe they're thinking of this deal. Could have been made without the first round pick but the way I see it is that first round pick if you if it's Moses Brown. I mean I just I'm almost surprised if the Thunder put them in this dead. I mean, I would I'm not surprised that they stopped him, but I'm just kind of like if you're the Celtics. I just I don't see a trade that you get more value for Kemba Walker than this. I mean, you get a young prospects. Twenty-three years old, who has shown potential this season. I mean, he he slapped nine ball with a nine blocks night. Grab 19, rebounds and 1/2 against the southeast. So, they know better than anybody that this guy has not only potential. He can ball, you know, On Any Given night. How do you feel about someone like that coming in when you have Robert Williams essentially playing that same role? Well, the thing I like about the facts, the statue gave, but that was the one off when you think about those number of rebounds, he's able to get. You had 19 rebounds in 1/2 and only got four more for the game. Something's going on there. I think he is, he's physically, right? It would take it away. And yeah. Yep. He's a big guy. He can do a lot of different things, but I just want to again just be more cognizant of what this team has and that's what are the next moves right now. And the most important right now is it coaching Carousel? Who's going to be that guy? Who's going to come in and do the job as a coach? I don't think that he can talk about all these other things right now. But until you go out and get the guy who's going to coach your team and knowing what kind of players he wants in that system, you know, that that is the most important thing. So it's have to do who are some of the new name that you like or has anything changed in your opinion? Who who's your favorite family right now? Well, my favorite is trying to fix the guy that page talks about smart Jackson, but here, here's my thought, you a dark horse..

"And you can't necessarily account for that, and we've learned that lesson in recent free agency periods, where the Celtics have a line of reasonability, G, other teams do something that they don't think is reasonable. But yes, the, the capability of having those to remain with the team is much more in play now than it than it was before this trade and on the smart front. Like he's the starting point guard now and if you believe that he's going to be your starting point guard, be on this year, which I actually think is a completely reasonable thing. I thought were sort of talking offline in Texas about like how I you know how I think it's an intelligent way to build a team around Jalen and Jason especially if Jason's going to become more and more of a point forward and like to build defensive flexibility around them. They get they took you to do that in a way that most other young Stars don't if they don't play the wing and so having Marcus be your point guard would be fine and if the talk about how he wants an extension is true like his max extensions only twenty percent more than a month. Now like you could very reasonably just extend Marcus for 20% more than he makes now at a couple of years and have them be your spark. You're starting point guard and I think that also becomes more likely now that campus out of the picture because you need a point guard. And that's not to say that I expect that to actually happen. But like, I, If you would ask me yesterday, that seemed less likely than it does now, right? Right, for sure. And, I mean, to be honest, there's just something whatever. When Kyrie walked out the door and 2019, I thought this was the Avenue they were going to pursue at the time, it's be like, okay, see what smart? A point guard looks like full-time wage and we saw how that turned out internet, obviously very well for a year, when Campbell's healthy. But then when sideways. So now that's the The Logical fit. They're not to say that they won't bring in, you know, they, they could test his value on the market right now. And if they find a better fit, I think that could certainly be in play or allow wage. Go to just to be a, the do everything six-man. I think that could be in play too, but the odds again, went up a lot in addition to Forney being around for First Merit, being around town. Next season, let's talk about Horford for a minute. In.

But the reality is this, you've traded for some savings and you're drafted Mo brown with the 16th pick essentially, you know, like what you've done. That's basically what you've done. You traded some savings. I don't know that you're counting on. I don't think a lot of hurts you. I think Al could have something left in the tank if he sticks around great, if there's something else here, I don't know, but fine, I don't mind L, but it really is, you've traded off. You treat, you gave up some decent draft capitals, so in in in exchange for Mo Brown and you save some money and that's and that's the deal. And that's okay, I'm fine with that. That's coming off. Season that they have looking at what their options were looking at the lack of flexibility that they have to give moves done. I I'm cool with this. Let me let me ask you this, if they drafted forget pretend we knew nothing about mobile Brown and they drafted him sixteen last year and he had this good a season for them. Would you be like that was a good pick if they if they drafted him, if he had last year's numbers, draft of the nesmith's spot. Would you be like that was a good pic? Absolutely. Cuz I know I mean that that means he was a bit put in work. I mean, yeah. Yeah other people look at it, like this is a guy who's scrapheap guy to a contract with twenty-twenty piece on the Celtics. I know, but I do believe that. Well, yeah, that's well, that's what they want to do. He doesn't shoot a ram running and Shop walking. It's it's a real bonus. I did not expect this out of this trade. I thought it was just going to be equal swap salary dump and to get that much more out of that first, which you probably would add to give up any way to trade off that timer million there. That's great. That's what makes it nice and trade every pre-owned volume vote. For the first bad move. I do believe that people did think Bobby there was a world in wage if you traded. I hate saying trash for trash, but if Tampa's unwanted analysis unwanted, I think there are people out there who thought if you did trade these two guys for one another Do you have to give up assets? We did talk about selling. Yeah, that was the big difference between the two. It is it is and so I guess you're paying for that second-year, Catholics ability there and essentially drafting more Brown sixteen. So it's pretty, it's pretty good. It's pretty decent deal. Southwest got lucky. I think cuz I wasn't sure the Thunder were in the market for another pic and salary dump situation. I think the only thing that made this happen is that Oklahoma doesn't really need cap space because they're not going to get their start through free agency. No one's going to willingly. Sign off on Oklahoma, they're going to make a trade and that's why they have 35 pics here that they're going to try to make it happen. Yeah. They know who they are. They know that their their path towards being. Really good is through the draft or through. Just ridiculous trades that teams can't turn down and so they're giving themselves as much am going to make that happen as possible until wage. Yep. So that's what we got. We'll see what happens next. We will, you know, it's will have the flexibility obviously to jump on and do something like this again..

"So I don't think that's a good way to go. I think you need a player on the court, who Shoney's a good fit here, who I think to some degree of wants to be here and can be used down the line and trades, that's the greatest level of flexibility that you give yourself right now and now that you've saved money on camera, there's even more the reason to do it to me cuz I do get some level of bargain here. There's a chance and dumping some other pieces that you can stay under the tax. I know. But what is interesting now is like the 48 thing. Just to look at what a bad decision. This was dead. You know, could you know, could you have used it that that large know better than Gordon though? You could you have used the large tpe right now? So I mean for a similar player probably but we showed that they got the right player and pointy. A I mean I compared the stats last week Forty-Eight was better with the Celtics statistically than Gordon page with the Nuggets. What I'm saying is you're talking about, you know, a situation where, you know, what would it be horrible to have a thirty million dollar tpe in a year where Brad Beal ism is theoretically available right now. You know, like that's now cuz be honest, extension kicks in. So he's more expensive than the team would have been. I just I if you're not representing Fournier I'm reading to get you going to get beer Without Rain Brown anyway, I really would have liked to see. I really if you're not re-signing for any, you probably should have held on to that t p e. I get I get that the goal is adding the third star but right now with where the Celtics are in terms of assets and cap, there's no path to that third star. So you have to do what's best otherwise Keep yourself competitive and grow and I'm not a big enough fan of any of these young guys to say, completely clear 48 out of here and give the keys to Romeo Nesmith and Pritchard. Those guys don't project to be good enough in my mind to replace a guy like 48, who shows at this point in his career. He's a winning player. He's a guy that can contribute to winning. He has, I think so and I'm not going off what he's done in his situation to have him and good so far including last year, I just look at what he does. On the court, a little bit of tenacity ton of shooting ball handling and he said offended and I think people gave him credit for. I mean, he was defending Kevin Durant and James Harden. Let's give this guy a break here. Yeah, I wonder if Horford even plays this year, tell you the truth. Now, I'm thinking about this whole deal. You think a chance that he moves on he gets moved again. Something happens with his situation, is it possible? There's a chance. But I don't think it's likely. Yeah, I I I don't I don't think song The Celtics will do that. Just because again, the one thing about Alan, we saw that when he was a player here and certainly, I know it was a factor in him, making this move, is that he.

"Unless they make the finals, would what season was that? Where they wanted to miss the playoffs and Jae Crowder hit the corridor through Corner, 3 a.m. and and and you could see the ownership group on this on the on the Baseline Celtics Baseline like, you know, going to be driving second season. Yeah, Brad second. She's going to happen, often make the finals, you know, but they're not making the files and I don't think anyone, I don't think anyone would be bummed if they know, they, they have to cash out, but that would always cracks me up there like birth. JY. So yeah that's yeah. We've given our reactions on this one. What do you think happens? Next again, it's hard. It's a lot information to take in. You. Take a look at numbers. You got to look at trade Partners, other things here, but what do you think is the next Domino to fall, guys? I think it's got to be the coach for sure. That was Jesus. God, I read books, right? Right. It's to the point now where it seems every other day, there's either a new candidate or a new opening in this coach and coaching Carousel. And so I think people forget because there's more than half a dozen openings. Now, the Celtics had the first one and so it would you would think that if you're at if you've had the most amount of time to evaluate the process and figure out wage has, you should probably be the first one to to make a move. And and the, my concern with the Celtics is that they're going to figure out who they want and they're not going to pull the trigger quick enough because there are so many more tears. Competing for that opportunity to, to find a coach. And Boston, they, I think just like the Kimba moved felt a bit aggressive. I think the same attitude has to be with the coaching search and get it done sooner, rather than let it, don't let this thing drag out, don't let Portland OR you know Dallas you know, come in and swoop, the candidate that you want. If you want someone make the move Bebo, electric is the enemy of the good. I think that could be one of the things you could always have pinned on Danny. And his tenure is waiting to Long the perfect thing, you know, and not taking something that might be viewed as a potential risk or something that, you know, could have some benefit but would it have the most benefit with the coach, you want to get that, right? And so we understand that, that's something where you really want to, you know, you want to make the best pick, you want to get the guy, you know, totally understand it. But with some of these moves, you do have to, you do have to get aggressive and you do have to risk it. Not being the best mom. Or not being, you know, whatever. But you can't you can't do nothing. And there's something that had to happen. So I I I do, you know, agree, there's people jumping in a little late here. Horrible, trade, horrible trainee, double trade, I don't know a lot of flat, I got a lot of flack when I brought up the horrid idea, nobody's life made for because. Yeah, I think last memory of preferred was that disaster year in Philly where he was just on a rampage fit, hear his final on Stemmons. And indeed, who we are still saying to this day, have huge issues on the offensive end of the war. So once he went over to Oklahoma City, no one's watching that team, whereas John said earlier in the day walking G League team but in the games he played, they were competitive eleven and fourteen..

"If you were to keep her morale. Yeah, Moses. Granted, this sounds really good. I would miss you and I love that. That's my favorite part about this whole deal to be honest. Yeah, people still jumping in here and, you know, just catching up. Some people are, literally just like, wait, what? Let's just schedule this is. This is normally when I'm waking up right now, I would normally be like, what's going on? Yeah. Let's, let's catch people up a little bit here. We have table. A major trade here as you can see on the screen. Kemba Walker. Going to OKC, this is a trade. We talked about as a total possibility. The price of unloading canvas, salary is a wage around. Pick the 16th pick in this year's draft is gone. So guys, if you wanted to start doing your draft homework, I know that was Bobby's. Next assignment on Monday, we were about to start talking draft profiles. Take them a couple of weeks off, we're good. No, first-round pick, swapping future, second-rounders Mo, Brown also, coming back. It's a nice addition of this trade, very much about creating salary space, getting out from under canvas contract, giving you some more flexibility again, we assume in the hopes of, you know, trying to find that third player to come here and join Tatum and brown the future. So a lot of, you know, differing opinions here on what Al Horford can do the state of the current roster. One thing I think is clear very, very, very clear. There is no way. Is the only Domino to fall. It is extremely interesting. We've talked a lot about this move, but you've got massive decisions. Again, this is what was so baffling about moving from Ange to someone without experience, like, Brad in this offseason where you had on your to-do list, get rid of Kemba find out, find someone who will take on, Tristan figure out what you're going to do about Marcus Smart's future, figure out what you're going to do about Williams future decide if you're going to spend into the tax to re-sign Evan Fournier. Oh and then maybe you know, research to draft figure out whether or not you want to hold on to the kids here or you want to ship them for veteran pics, all of these things, this is step one first, Domino of like a very, very busy offseason and there is no way that this is, this is the last thing that to happen. In fact you know at the very least you assume there's some other movement with a big and most there could be still some massive moves on the horizon and nothing would really surprise me at this time. But this was clearly the first Domino that had to fall. It was an important one. You had to move from this in order to start, even considering some of the other stuff cuz you gotta see where the money's going to be, and you needed to figure out what we're going to do here. So there's some savings from Canada. Al's nine million in savings. Al if he's waved next year, I believe would would be fourteen million left over versus canvas thirty-four, so a 20 million in Savings in your student, make the finals. Yeah..

Kemba Walker Evan Fournier Tristan Brad Moses Marcus Smart 20 million Monday Al Horford fourteen million nine million Ange next year Bobby Canada Brown first-round Al Williams this year

"Going to fix that as well. You have a guy in Kemba or in Horford, who's going to take a back seat for us, who's going to go home? Help us tank. Do our thing here, and we're going to work with him on his future, life Nation, if he really hated, Boston didn't like it here. Didn't want to come back. This deal probably doesn't get done, but he looks at the situation now, post everything and it's like. All right, we got some young guys here. We got some young Stars. I like what we got here and I'm going to go back and do it again. That's good on the end of thing. But I am like I said, is you've done? You've done Kemba dirty so to speak. How did they do crack a dirty? Look, I'm just talking about the way. I'm just it's just a phrase Bobby. I'm, I've never thought you talking about. I've never bought into that. I think it's abated. Everything they possibly can. That's what I'm saying. I I have always believed it's a business, you can't have you can't be pissed off when people trade you, you know, no matter what there's no loyalty on either side, you walk, you totally understand it. When you totally understand it. When Whatchamacallit, when when guys get traded and when you guys make their own decisions and free-agent, I think when people people don't seem to understand was that how didn't leave? Because he hated it in Boston, he left because he got a better offer, he felt that his value was at a certain point, didn't agree. And so then I'll said, well, let me go find out what that value is and you got a four-year hundred million dollar deal, which is more than a Celtics felt he was worth now in retrospect the cellphone right. Because when you look at how things flamed out for Allen Philadelphia look out, things didn't work out. When you got traded to OKC. I mean, Al has been at a couple of different places since he left Boston, and I think if you're out, Horford, it at this month. Your career you gotta ask yourself what's the best situation for me players want to play?.

"They just dumping the money. So there's Brad Stevens first move as a GM is to clear away a big contract for a player who's doesn't stay healthy Kids stay healthy and in doing so, giving up a first round pick To do it. So are you getting rid of the money? So in return, you got more money to spend. So now what? You gonna do Anything expiring? Al Horford, that helps. Yeah, That's what I'm saying. You're gonna have more so they've got they've got to work on whatever. Now, if El Al Horford plays they buy him out that remains to be seen. Remember? He did have a history there, and when he left, they did miss his defense. So let's bring in Kendrick Perkins. Just bring him back to the show. Yes, Been NBA analyst joins us on the Goodyear hotline. So perk this straight just comes down from woes. I'll give you the details. We haven't heard it that Kemba Walker will be traded. To Oklahoma City, along with a first round pick the 16th overall pick in this year's draft, and then a couple of seconds are swapped in this Al Horford on his way back to Boston, Mo. Brown Moses Brown as well in the deal. What are your thoughts? Surprising or not? Oh, look. Long not surprise. I love it. I love and here's wild love it for the simple fact. When you look at what Kimball Walker went through the past two seasons, they didn't know when he was going to be healthy dealing with a knee injury. He wasn't available, and right now you have two rising stars and Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum, who are being the face of your franchise. To me killed but just didn't match Will. Jalen Brown took a tremendous leap this year, and Kimball was just kind of in the way, so I love this. I love this. I said this at the end of the season. It's time for Kimble to go Now They're getting back and familiar. Face a stretch for a guy that Jayson Tatum ACC, Jalen Brown love playing with an Al Horford. Some pigs and everything else, I must say. Great job about Brad Stevens in his first big move as the as the head of the snake running the organization. Let me just get some detail here for a second on the walker contract, so he's got Essentially two years left of $36 million at the age of 31 for next season. And then a $37 million player option perk. Would you pick up that option if you were him? I think you would. Right. So there's that. He better? Yeah. If he knew better here, do better. Hey, So that's why you're moving them a big perk. So So Brad Stevens now obviously running the show the ship. In in Boston decides to make this move without hiring a head coach. Wouldn't you think that You would consult with a head coach to some degree prior to making these sort of moves, given the fact or are you just going to hand the keys to the car to head coaches say you deal with whatever I'm giving you Well, I think I think with this one key, you know, this was a move that was was going to be made, Regardless. Okay. I think it was just time. Right? And this is a move for Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown to show them to say, Hey, this is your team. This is your team. You don't have to look over your shoulder. You don't have to worry about If you're a third option, if you're Jaylen Brown note is one a one B and as Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown so I actually love the movie. Whether or not it was a head coach Taylor consult with that, because even if they had to head coach guess what they would have said the same thing. Let's go ahead and make this happen now with Brad has to do before he does anything else. His next move is to hire head coach because if you're thinking about moving any other pieces, like a marking smart, you need to bring in the coach first and have a sit down with them or whatever the case may be before you do anything else, Brad, but I think this was a great move. I think any coach would would have agreed with this move. It was a long time coming. Let me also update more because I was wrong about Harford. I don't know why I thought it was an expiring, but it isn't. He actually has two years left next year. 27 year after that, 26 5. So the Celtics bringing him back for Perkin, You saw it. Since he left their defense, especially interior defense, pick and roll defense just wasn't the same. They never really were the same. They're always trying to find a big to replicate what he could do, and they couldn't now can he still do at the age of 36 remains to be seen, But That part of the deal. Sorry, key. No, I was gonna say perk. The end of last season, I asked you and Jay will about the window closing for the Celtics. Clearly that window close this season. They didn't do well. They got bounced by the Nets. In the first round of playoffs. Did the window open back up Now is the door open back up with this move, Or is the windows still pretty tight? No, no, The window is open and his wife key. You know that the first story of of their chapters close with Kimball Walker and Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum. Right now, you move on. We still have to realize that Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum are still under the age of 25. Neither one of them have even scratched the surface of their problem..

Jason Tatum Kendrick Perkins Brad Stevens Jalen Brown Kemba Walker Jaylen Brown Al Horford El Al Horford Celtics $37 million Jay Brad $36 million Taylor two years 16th Kimball Walker next year Perkin Kimble
