I feel like we played pretty good defense. We were in our spots. Sometimes shooters got out. And we followed the shooters. We could do a little bit better with that. And then also them driving middle, but overall I feel like we did a good job. And Boston smashed Portland one 1593, Jason Tatum had 30. Al Horford added 17. I was just really early on taking with the defense was giving me the way they were playing me and guy found me early and I was able to get into a rhythm really early. Franz Wagner got 84 first team votes, 15 second team votes once. Some poor unfortunate soul did not vote for him period for the all rookie team. But I don't have a problem there. Dan, if gets into jail and green, shouldn't have been Herbert Jones with an outside chance of Josh giddy. Those were the next three guys, Jalen Greene, got the final first place, our first team voting. So your first theme, Scottie Barnes, kid Cunningham, MM mobley, Franz Wagner, Jalen green, so the top four picks in the draft. Plus Orlando had the 5th pick, but not the guy. They drafted 5th. That was Jalen suggs. Then the second team, herb Jones and Josh giddy, but the second team, then bones highland, IO Des Moines and Chris duarte. Rounded out. Jonathan kamina was closest. He had 47 second team votes. Chris duarte had 52 second team votes. Io de soon move got two first team votes. And then giddy and Jones got 24 and 32 first team votes respectively. So I don't have any real problem with this. I think the right guys made it. There, just to close the door on it. Austin Reeves, two second team votes. For your guy. HBK, right? Billy Coleman. Now, upgraded to questionable, and I said this to you before we started recording come playoff time if you're upgraded to questionable, that typically means you're playing. Yeah, my guess is, and this is let me be very, very clear this is just a guess. This was probably kept him out of game one was probably some kind of maybe a false positive test. I don't know, maybe there's something else going on testing he may have been a close contact and now they've done the retesting necessary to get him there. So yeah, he was, he was out for game one, then he was doubtful. Yesterday was what his injury designation was. And that could upgrade into questionable today. And that's a weird upgrade unless there's a good chance he's going to play. So I assume that's where it is. Email you don't go for what it's worth has said, continually. He feels fine, and he feels good. So I'm guessing Al Horford is back. Marcus smart probable to play. The word is he's going to test out his foot pre game, but is very likely to play. So we'll see what's going on with this brain drain for him. And then Derek white on the flip side he is out, but they're quite out for the, you know, arguably the very best reason you could ever miss. He's gone home to Boston to be with his wife for the birth of his first child. Is there anyone out there that is critical of that decision saying that is that happening? I would hope not, but I was assuming knowing the Twitter. Yeah. I mean, Trevor, I could say something like ice cream is good. And people would fire back with like, here's why you're wrong. Yeah, there's people out there who are being critical. Some of that is probably just people who get off on being ignorant trolls for what I've never understood. That behavior. But there are legit people who are like, it's the playoffs, like this kid's not going to remember this anyway, and it's like that's not what it's about. "Playing three on three. I think in Steve Nash's mind somewhere in the recesses of it, he was thinking this guy might be coming back. Well, that, yes, but also I think if you asked anyone who was their day to today asking the questions, they felt like Steve more often than not said, no, I don't know if he's doing light shooting. He's doing light on court work. He's not even doing XYZ yet. I think when it comes to surgery, I'm not going to act like I'm anywhere close to having the ability or the education to speak on this in a way. But to me, so much of surgery sometimes. Whatever point of the year and whatever they figure, if it was about nerves, I mean, I was trying to read up on this, but again, I don't know whatever the whatever the surgery was called now I can't remember. You can make me pull up the press. Micro disc off to me, I don't know what it was, but the timetable that's stunned. Yeah, but just in about where you're relieving the success rate of it, where you're relieving some of the stress or pressure on your different nerves or on your all of those things to me, I'm sure that's not an easy decision because back surgery is a big deal. But okay, hey, you either may be dealing with this pain or dealing with the stuff you have been and it's going to be up and down or you have the off season to finally get this to write, try and make this better and rehab and then the hope is for the start of the season. For the thought of your career too. I think when they were looking at Ben in all the conversations about him, there was also the preservation of we're not just talking about the end of this year or this postseason or even next season..

"He expressed support for Ben Simmons every time he was asked about him. He said they had enough to win as is. And look, they were pretty good in that stretch before they made the Simmons trade. Seth curry was really good for that team. Obviously Maxie busted out in his second year. He handled that situation as well as anyone could have possibly handled a difficult situation. I think that coupled with the production on the floor was enough to edge jokic and Yanis in on my ballot. And those are the type of things which I don't disagree with you, but those are the type of things when you talk to voters or hear from them. We've heard this in years past. Those are the type of things that some people factor in. Some people take into account some are looking at the bigger picture of everything you're dealing with and handling and others are just okay. Let's look at exactly the play on the floor. And were you the most valuable player to your team in this entire league? So were you the best player in the league? I mean, that's where I think there's fine lines with how you look at it and how you perceive that. But again, I just, I really struggled I have conversations now with people talking about jokic, he's not even in the postseason. No one knows that. You don't know that. You can not speculate that. Moving forward, you can never anticipate that. So to me, that shouldn't even be a part of the conversation. And while it feels off when you're announcing an MVP who's not playing, that's not a part of it. I do also get a little, I mean, look, advanced stats are part of today's NBA, but jokic's, it seemed like every time someone made a case for jokic, the strongest part of that case was the advanced stats and I don't know. I don't disagree with that and I do think the way you said is it's as strong as part of the case. But I also, to me, watching him. Like, that's where I think it, the dialog on that. Sometimes overshadows just watching him. Yeah, yeah, you're right. How supremely talented he is and how dominant he could be in so many different areas. On top of playing without different players, I think because those advanced stats are so highlighted. It's like you also watch him and he's brilliant with how he plays. And so I think there's factors in that where you can't just, I think, now everyone just assumes oh, it's just about the advanced stats with him and the analytics and I think there's a case let's remind you when you actually watch him. He does really, really insane, amazing, incredible things on the floor. Four straight years, a foreign born player, MVP. What's happened to American basketball, Sarah, that's just going down the toilet right there. It's going down. Love to see it. Love to see it. David stern would have loved to see it. David stern loved the globalization of the game. Look at that. Even if it would have been in B look at your top three, you're not even talking about MVPs. That's a three candidates. All three. And look, I'm gonna guess Luca Dončić is gonna get in that four 5 slot. Maybe? I don't know who would get the other part. Tatum maybe John morant will probably be in that mix. So for the top 5, we'll probably be foreign born players, which and that may not change in the foreseeable future. All these guys were talking about are in their prime, under, I believe, the age of 30, all of them. So yeah, they're gonna be playing like that for years to come. Midterm.

"He's still been a shot blocker. He's still been valuable, but I would start Al Horford and grant Williams. Grant Williams didn't play well in game four, but I liked the grant Williams matchup against Yanis with Al Horford on brook Lopez taking Lopez maybe away from the basket. That's one thing that Putin holes is going to have to adjust to. Al Horford was open every single time he caught the ball. Like nobody within ten feet of them out there on the floor. Like I like the idea of forcing Lopez who's been a shot blocker all series, all since he's been back from that back injury, forcing him away from the rim and letting grant Williams deal with Giannis on the other end. Yeah, well, a couple things with that. One when you're talking about one side and that to me was after what game one or two, you could probably point to a lot of them everyone talking about, oh my God, Boston took X number of three points. That's what Milwaukee does. That's what their defense is predicated on. That's exactly what they want you to do. They want to bait you in they'll still try and speed you up in Russia and recover, but they are protecting the paint at all like that is exactly what their defense is designed to do. Because they believe in 7 games, you're not going to have that many games where you are on fire from three that it's going to be over able to overcompensate what they do on the inside and from the inside out, but you're looking at a situation now where that's what you saw with Horford. I think we've seen it with like go down the list of players, guys see one go through, especially on the road. See one go through to go through that's the swing and the balance of what happens when you have some of those smaller guys to pull out whether it's a brook Lopez portis, whoever. But on the flip side of things, I think from Milwaukee offensively, so much of it comes down to, in my estimation and we talked about this, like drew Holliday is the bellwether of this team. Like if he's able to find and to me it wasn't just the shots that he missed and he was excellent defensively. But what shots are you taking? And I would credit Boston's defense for forcing a lot of those, but there was a lot of long twos or there was a lot of isolation. If you're trying to bully your way to get to the basket or get to the paint or get in good ball movement and open shots, but to me, it was a lot of everyone's just spaced out. You're trying to get Yanis off the player, have him initiate the offense from a different spot, but you're looking at this set Boston defense that you're taking a couple of dribbles and taken along too and those if you're not hitting shots, like that sucks the life out of an offense. And I think there was too many possessions where you saw a lot of that. In talking about getting guys involved, whistling Matthews had some good the possessions I love so much about Milwaukee, whether it was Giannis and whether they put them on the wing and had him work that mid post area and that weak side three pointer is going to be open are going to be a good look..

So i can't really speak too much but again bring the al horford al at plenty to say about on how he's been time working with him and he was always a consummate professional. They spend a lot of time working with him on defense when they together in philadelphia. So i'm really curious to see without horford now back in the fold how that is going to affect the celtics who admittedly were not very good. Defensive team was gone up particularly last season. I mean they really fell off a cliff. And i think that is probably a big part of the reason why both of them are on the celtics roster net again spent seven years with the spurs as an assistant so he has seen a team that reimagined that its identity several times with the same thesis. So it doesn't look like an action out some curious. Your thoughts the fact. That smart was so heavily consulted here or at least it's been reported as such suggests to me that the team is looking to make monumental changes to the core the roster alex thumbs up out a you. Can you tell us more about how you feel about that. And how daca fits into that. Yeah well i think. It's just another endorsement Marcus smart is considered one of the core guys for this team going forward and i think that that likely means that you could see the market smart extension happening either. This offseason next offseason. I don't necessarily think that it shuts the door on marcus. Smart then being traded after that extension signed particularly if that's the only way to acquire a third star player. But i do think it indicates that at the very least marcus going to be a part of this team for next year and probably more also think that it probably ups the chances that the celtics are on. They've openly stated that they want to do this at their intent on resigning for I think if you're starting marcus smart as your point guard. You probably need evan formula. Or somebody like having foreign aid to start the two to provide additional spacing and playmaking sto- The daca hiring has me feeling That it's highly likely that the celtics opening night starters for next season are going to be marcus. Smart evan forte. Jaylen brown jason. Tatum and al horford I will be interested to see what this means for the bench As we mentioned before who doku is He's got some offense chops but he really has a rap as being a defensive minded coach celtics bench was not a defensive minded adventure last season. So it'll be interested to see. Because i think that's likely where you're going to be seeing the biggest remaining roster changes furthest team going forward is who's going to be filling that bench but I think doco coming backing means that smart jalen. He can ball, you know, On Any Given night. How do you feel about someone like that coming in when you have Robert Williams essentially playing that same role? Well, the thing I like about the facts, the statue gave, but that was the one off when you think about those number of rebounds, he's able to get. You had 19 rebounds in 1/2 and only got four more for the game. Something's going on there. I think he is, he's physically, right? It would take it away. And yeah. Yep. He's a big guy. He can do a lot of different things, but I just want to again just be more cognizant of what this team has and that's what are the next moves right now. And the most important right now is it coaching Carousel? Who's going to be that guy? Who's going to come in and do the job as a coach? I don't think that he can talk about all these other things right now. But until you go out and get the guy who's going to coach your team and knowing what kind of players he wants in that system, you know, that that is the most important thing. So it's have to do who are some of the new name that you like or has anything changed in your opinion? Who who's your favorite family right now? Well, my favorite is trying to fix the guy that page talks about smart Jackson, but here, here's my thought, you a dark horse..

"And you can't necessarily account for that, and we've learned that lesson in recent free agency periods, where the Celtics have a line of reasonability, G, other teams do something that they don't think is reasonable. But yes, the, the capability of having those to remain with the team is much more in play now than it than it was before this trade and on the smart front. Like he's the starting point guard now and if you believe that he's going to be your starting point guard, be on this year, which I actually think is a completely reasonable thing. I thought were sort of talking offline in Texas about like how I you know how I think it's an intelligent way to build a team around Jalen and Jason especially if Jason's going to become more and more of a point forward and like to build defensive flexibility around them. They get they took you to do that in a way that most other young Stars don't if they don't play the wing and so having Marcus be your point guard would be fine and if the talk about how he wants an extension is true like his max extensions only twenty percent more than a month. Now like you could very reasonably just extend Marcus for 20% more than he makes now at a couple of years and have them be your spark. You're starting point guard and I think that also becomes more likely now that campus out of the picture because you need a point guard. And that's not to say that I expect that to actually happen. But like, I, If you would ask me yesterday, that seemed less likely than it does now, right? Right, for sure. And, I mean, to be honest, there's just something whatever. When Kyrie walked out the door and 2019, I thought this was the Avenue they were going to pursue at the time, it's be like, okay, see what smart? A point guard looks like full-time wage and we saw how that turned out internet, obviously very well for a year, when Campbell's healthy. But then when sideways. So now that's the The Logical fit. They're not to say that they won't bring in, you know, they, they could test his value on the market right now. And if they find a better fit, I think that could certainly be in play or allow wage.
