I want to be on that movie with you. That would be so fun. I would love that. See, this has illusion. I'll be really. It's like all the men we know are video game characters, except for my I know my real husband and he might be a video game character and I don't know. I mean, I've never asked him. It is very funny. I went on a date with a guy a few months ago that he's not a nerd at all. At all. But he knows on the surface that I am. Man, it's so funny because I'm like, I feel like not to make this like a reverse gender role thing, but I feel like the guy in this whatever we had, it doesn't exist anymore. But what it did, he would send me Star Wars memes all the time. I don't watch Star Wars at all. But because he was like, Lisa and nerd clicks, he was like, she has to be in the Star Wars and would just always send me Star Wars memes and I would just pretend that I knew what he was talking about. Like, oh yes, it's funny. I never corrected him though. I just eventually just died off, but it was just very funny for a brief second. He was like, she has to like star wars. Like, that was it. The assumption was made. I also don't watch the wars in the stars, so I would be right there in your shoes. It's just so funny to me. And I was just like, you know what? I'll take it. It's fine. You know, at least again, sometimes it's just all about the effort. There was an effort made. No, so there goes that. It's all about solid snake. Solid snake naked snake, speaking of naked liquid snake. Liquid. Speaking of liquid, naked thing. Yakuza. I mean, like a dragon Easton. Let's talk about I mean, it's pretty relevant. Yeah, so I talked about like a dragon Easton a lot last week. And I'm still playing it. The simming in this game is real. I can't stop farming. I can't stop sticking my hands. But yes. I mean, that too, you know, gastric issues are a real gastric, yeah. Gas issues, stomach issues. Farting in pots and that's sorry, I'm just so jealous that you've put so many hours in. Oh yeah, I have. I was very fortunate to get a review code away ahead of time. Thank you, Sega. But yeah, it's a lovely game. I'm having a ton of fun with it. You know something I feel like we don't talk about enough with these games is while we always tend to focus, I think, on how funny and silly they can be. These games, when they, when they're tense, and when they're building that mood, holy crap, you know, there's a scene that happened in eastern recently and I won't talk about specifics because spoilers in bed. But I could barely even watch the screen 'cause it was just so tense and I was like, oh, and you just feel like that if I curious but clenching anxiety for the characters that are around you. And I think the last Yakuza game that made me feel that way was Yakuza zero because if you think about it back then here was just like this up and coming little gangster. Yeah, right? He didn't have a lot of authority or power or anything. And so it's sort of the same thing sort of kinda and this is the first game in a long time where I was like holy crap. I'm too empathetic with this. It's making me feel a little on edge here but I still have one I see him at this point. It's just like I am so emotionally attached to you that when they be like, here's the costumes. I'm like, I don't want to see them in that suit. I need him to go live in peace in the mountains where no one can contact him. I know. Right. I know, yeah, I know. He always tries to leave and then someone always finds him. It's like they have a GPS tracker on his ass off. But yeah, I'm still having an absolutely blast with it. And now you haven't played the game yet, but you play the combat demo, right? I played the combat demo and I played it at oh, that's right. TwitchCon. Hell yeah. And yes, I am so ready to have, like, I loved like a dragon with ichiban. But it was just too much. Like having a turn base is fun, but for me, it was like, I was so used to that old formula, so it's really glad that they kind of brought that back. Like you have the difference between music. I just love that you get the cards and you get the different weapons and stuff, but I was like, I'm just gonna use fist. I just went back to yeah, 'cause it's there, just punching all these guys. You had the brawler salad. You had a brawler style, but like, yeah, it's like I really love those games, but after going through all the cuter you saga, I was like, I got so attached to all those characters because I had them throughout all the games, you know? Yeah. And so seeing them back with just even though it's not them, it's just their faces. Like I still love that akiyama doesn't look like a samurai. It just looks like a guy who's doing a samurai porn. Like he's just walking around as a red robe, just like, hey man, what's up? I'm here. And I love that they also brought, they changed some of the faces. I never played the original yeast, but I love that they changed some of the faces to be like, I don't know why they put zao in the game. I was like, that's so random. Like they put his face in there, but they also had like all the old guys from the old men from Yakuza. Yes. It was really nice. It's so cool to see these characters may come back because I got to the point in like a dragon where some of those characters may come back and I got really choked up. I was like, oh, want to say I love you. Yeah. I love him and daigo, my sweet boy. He's like 50, but I'm like, baby boy, Diego, you know? In my mind, I'm like, he's a little baby boy, so we're in that white puffer jacket that we might have been for the first time. Around all these girls. Now I'm with you, and I think that's something that I also really love about you shin is, yeah, it is all these faces and that you've seen throughout the series. So I'm pretty excited about what we're doing here at lumen box because as you said, I've been around the block a bit and I think that there's a really interesting trend or a series of trends that are taking place that we're excited to participate in. Interesting. So we'll get into those trends, definitely, over the course of the conversation. But first, what was your kind of, I'm looking at companies like intellect, Akkadian. Akiyama? I don't remember which one. And it looks like. And then we're looking at web ACT and nuance. So basically, it's a long winded way of trying to kind of climb into some of your previous experiences previous roles and tracking your journey essentially through this through this kind of space was nuanced was nuanced. First opportunity you had to work in this kind of technology spears or you're working on something before that. Well, it was a little bit of a dabble in it when I was at Nokia. When we were looking at different ways to manage and facilitate this is way before anything was technically a cloud. But managing contacts and contents in a pseudo kind of cloud environment at that time for large carriers telecommunications companies. And then with nuance is really when I got into the speech side of the business and was able to really kind of dig into what I felt at the time was its infancy in terms of how NLU was evolving into a very valid capability when you look at anything that has to do with customer engagement. From that point forward as you can kind of see some of the areas I wanted to explore had to do with how does this use case manifest itself in different parts of, let's say, the customer journey. Whether it's a network side, whether the authentication side. Whether it's a proactive outbound element in the martech side, as I had mentioned before. But it's interesting, it kind of all led me back to lumen box and really understanding how to position technologies in the ID speech, AI broadly speaking space as this market continues to evolve..

So i take sound locks with classes all the time i read his stuff on pedagogy and i think it's wonderful. I think he was. It was an amazing teacher. And also i find him to be a really good index for thinking about the ways in which politics in exclusion seep into every domain of our lives. I think that's one of the misconceptions. We have is you know when. We're read critiques of people that there's this sort of what's we're looking looking for blood sport or Or a life or death thing. I have this pretty scorched earth critique of like this soundscape concept and the pastoralism and his work it. But that doesn't mean. I don't admire or respect him as an intellectual we just disagree and that's okay. That's actually really important. Like in the age of social media and like one line take downs on twitter and stuff. I think it's incumbent on us to Really like you know still respect the intellectual process and people's ideas and nurture creativity and others say being wrong doesn't make you like evil or the your work useless and i read people. I disagree with all the time. So yeah i. I wouldn't say a probably compared to other people you've interviewed. I wouldn't say his work was formative for me. I did draw inspiration from it and Made me think about a lot of stuff and it was incredibly useful as a foil. You might save marie. schafer didn't exist. I would've had to invent him. And maybe this is. The greatest indicator that armory schaefer will continue to have a lasting impact on the study of sound. The fact that we haven't stopped arguing.

Beer is good ice cold, but this is a very big beer area. Cincinnati the tri state in your Did you bring some Cincinnati brew for those people up there to school? Them or no? The first shot out the reds have had. I think, since the last time he had one, which was over a month ago, he gets a double stretches it to a triple on an error. And I was concerned for his well being and then ends up going into the next inning to pitch until he had to be yanked. What an outing. What a man. Yeah, I know what an outing and what a what a first half he's had, You know, for a guy If you go back to the beginning of last season before the pandemic, he was kind of the forgotten shiny, right. I mean, they had signed Castano's and shuttle Akiyama and Mike Moustakas owned by the way, Wade Miley and you know he wasn't one of these guys that they acquired because he was a waiver wire guy or somebody that another team discarded. He was a pretty major free agent signing. If you look at the recent history of the Reds, even though not so not so recent history, the Reds how many free agent pitchers have they given eight? Million dollars a year to they did that with Wade Miley, and unfortunately for him last season, it really didn't work out. He dealt with a lot of injuries. And as we talked about this team's rotation this year without several power without Anthony, the Sclafani I think there were a lot of people to kind of discarded the idea that he was going to be a big part of this team. Can you imagine for a team that got a very uneven first half from Luis Castillo? Although he's certainly been better recently for a team that was without Sonny Gray for a couple of different stretches, 13 For a team that doesn't have Trevor Bauer, who was great last year. Can you imagine where this team would be without Wade Miley giving him pretty reliable? Starting pitching in last night? That was a really huge game last night. You know, you lose the night before you've got this huge series against Milwaukee. You have to at least split right? You have to at least get two of the four this weekend to avoid falling further than six games out of first place. They had a really rough loss on Thursday, and he kind of settled everything down, and he gave up some hard hit balls dance with some Little bit, but surrendered some base runners, but David Bell showed a lot of confidence and letting him come out for the ninth inning. He's tempering came in and closed the game out in the in the bottom of the ninth, and it was, I thought a very, very appropriate end of the first half away. Miley, who has been in many respects kind of a savior for this team, I think I think you're absolutely right. Sterling talking to Mo Egger about Reds and brewer season mill walking now Let me ask this to this point, Give a report card on this team. I mean, this is a pivotal series. You hate to say First of all, it's nice in July to have games that matter, and if they don't win the division at this point, unless a lot of teams start sucking wind They're not going to get to the postseason. But this is huge. These four games now to left, hoping at least for a split, if not better, this weekend, and in the first three back at Great American Ballpark, with Milwaukee coming in with that brew crew, What is your take on where they stand and how they look pivoting into the second half, though it's actually beyond that already. Well, that might be a little bit easier to answer after these next two games. But there's a reality is, if they lose, you're staring at an eight game deficit going into the All Star break. That's going to be a really tough hill to climb at the same time. If you're just judging this team, forget where they are in relation to Milwaukee. Forget how many games out of first place that they are, I think, if you if you look at the first half of the season and think of all the things that went poorly, all the things that went long from a number of injuries and and the red, they're far from the only team that's dealt with injuries. But you know, Michael stock this is barely Play jelly. Votto missed a month. Nixon's L has barely played. They obviously, obviously right now have Lucas Sims and and T. J. Antone not available. Right now, you take that and then you look at the first two months, Luis Castillo really struggled the first two months. Amir Derek really struggled really the most for for most of the first half of the season, and you hate us. Flores has really struggled. Their bullpen right now is cobbled together with guys that other teams didn't want, and they still have more wins and losses. I I think I think all of that taken into consideration. You have to give him a pretty solid B south. You also go back, and they were six in one to start the season. They gave back that hot start. That's not good. Their bullpen is still a major question. Mark. Um their defense Last night was spectacular. I mean, you know, we talk about how good weight Miley was. The guys behind him helped him. Help them a lot. But for the most part this season, this team's defense hasn't been all that good. That's going to have to get better. But I just think if you look at everything that that happened to this team even go back to the offseason, it's not like they really went out of their way to improve the team. "I think you're going to have a really hard time convincing Bob Castellani and maybe convincing. They crawl that they should really go all in. I think it's on the players to put pressure on ownership and put pressure on the front office by the performances over the next three weeks to put pressure on this front office to the point that they almost have no choice but to go all in. I don't know how you really do that now, with a team that's eight games out of first place and has to leapfrog to tins in order to win the division. Yeah, although you know it can be done now. Can you can lightning strike twice in the season, and it's happened before, But I mean, look at that incredible run where the Reds were just to sniff away from first place in the course of a couple weeks where they went on their terror and beat the teams above them. Um, you know, can you do that again? Probably not. I would say I mean, because again, everything tends to even out There's a reason why the Cubs in Milwaukee are playing the ball they are and, um, generally, you know, you play to your own level, so getting those extra pieces in place, But then again, you know, we added pieces. In the off season. You know, guys like Shoko Akiyama and others were okay. This guy's gonna What's you know? So so you know, you took a gamble and lost on some guys, I would say, And certainly the injuries factor as well. I won't discount that. All teams obviously have injuries right now. I just don't see how you work around that with the guys. You have all of a sudden you're going to magically become a A World Series team. What the talent you have, And I think so, Yeah, Look, I tend to think that the Reds are going to get better. The Reds are going to have to play better and, frankly, that's going to involve them overachieving. I mean, is it coming into the reason? I think a lot of us thought this was roughly 500 team right, and they are most people you know, before before opening day, all right ballpark where they going to finish, most would have said. 80 wins 81 win 79 wins 82 wins something in that range. I don't think they've done anything over the first half of the season to really dissuade people from that day today, heading into the final game of the first half of the season, there are 500 baseball team, So let's just do the math, and I don't want to be Debbie Downer, either because there's nothing I want more than a September pennant race Milwaukee Brewers right now who have won nine straight games. We're in Pittsburgh this weekend to play one of the worst teams in baseball. The Milwaukee Brewers have set basically a 97 win peace. Right now, Chances are they're not going to win 97 games, but they're playing good. It's 5 98 baseball 97 wins. Let's just say they play 500 ball the rest of the way Since they have 80 games remaining, that means they finished with 89 victories. So for the Reds to tie the Milwaukee Brewers, they're going to have to win 49 of their last 82 games. That's a lot to ask. Now. They play the Brewers a ton over the next couple of weeks for next weekend in Milwaukee and three at home with them right after the All Star break. But again, let's do the math here. So a team that we thought was going to be roughly 500 before the year. That is exactly 500. Now we are all of a sudden expecting them to play whatever 49 33 is, but that's 98 win ball over the course of a full season. We're expecting that. It could happen, I guess. But again, I think when you put it in those terms of illustrates How huge of an uphill climb. They have, Um, which tends to make me believe Mo that initially, as I said, I think they just stay in Paddick. Okay, with everyone expected to be 500. We're 500 teen. Great. We we we met. We hit the mark now or some fans and the players gonna be upset? Yeah, but, um, then you turn around and maybe do something the off season. Um, I mean, that's feasible, right? It's feasible again. I think I think it would really help if somebody in upper management would articulate What the plan is going to be this offseason because again, the playing this off season was just kind of tread water. We're not really going to go in any one specific direction. We're not going to actively go out and try to make the team better. Right, but they didn't unload guys. I mean, even after Trevor Bauer left and after they gave away Rice, Selig Lacey some Archie Bradley. They still at the core of a decent club, right? I mean, again. Cast the honest and Winker are are starting outfielders on the All Star team. They didn't move uranium as far as they didn't move, Joey Votto, you know they didn't move Mike Moustakas. They didn't go in any one specific direction. I think it's really hard to answer the question What the Reds can infer do around the trade deadline when we don't know what Direction. They're going to go in this off season. Are they going to take the $30 million that they took out of the team's payroll this past off season and put it back into the club? Do we know who's going to be making the roster decisions? Is Nick call coming back if he's coming back with his capacity going to be? Is he the president of baseball operations? Well, they hire a general manager to serve under him when I hire a president of baseball operations. And have Nick crawl serve under that guy Who's going to be making the decisions about the manager?.

"Was a rough start to the baseball season for show Go Akiyama. He had the leaf spring training when his wife was involved in a freak accident. He then starts the season on the injured list with a hamstring issue, and then it looked like he wouldn't see a heck of a lot of playing time because the outfield was crowded and it was productive. But because of a couple of injuries, he found himself in the line up more and more, and he was pretty productive, especially in the Rocky Series. It just seems to me for sugar to be productive. He has to play almost every day. Can David Bell find him enough playing time? I'm not sure that in our outfield right now that Anybody is going to slot in as every day unless they're their name is Jesse Winker. Nick Castano's I think there's gonna be some swapping out. I think that's one of the reasons you're seeing since l play in in the middle infield and at third base. I think you're still going to see some some movement in that area. And as we get into interleague play, I think you're going to see Winker moved to the designated hitter spot in those ballgames to get since Ellen Ah, Chiana into the outfield. As far as playing every day. I mean, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The guys that hit and whether your name Zaki, um or whether your name sins l or India or farmer. Not sure anybody's ready to anoint him yet is a full time starter. Are they? No. I think I think 2020 kind of it was like an abbreviated season. It's kind of delayed making some of the final Decisions on who is going to be the piece of the future. I think the Reds have good outfield depth, because you know there's this fine guys out there that you'd be comfortable starting, generally speaking, but There's no one there who is a star, and that's that goes under the problem that after Suarez, there's just not really any other starters. A bunch of good average player that's fine, but it's hard to you know, with a division regularly with just You know good average players. Yeah, the other guy. The mix out there is Nix Castellanos, and I really think Castano's his defense improved last season, you pointed out to in this article again. You got pretty. Castano's projected a 27 89. I think I take that from my right fielder. If he's got a decent obp, and honestly the way you've got it scoped out here. He ought to have that. I think you have made 3 23. Maybe 3 24. Nick Cassidy Ann knows could be to the outfield. What au Hainiu Suarez is to the infield, right? He could be. He still has some upside remaining. He's not, you know, 34 or anything. He's still in his twenties, so there could be no another peek here too. I mean, he had a pretty nice run with the Cubs at the end of 2019. On. He has improved offensively because He was. I mean, he was. He was a message. Third base for Detroit. They gave him as much time there as was reasonable and he was kind of, you know, a little bit awkward in the outfield the time he's never going to be a gold level remotely, but He's getting more acceptable. And maybe Tyler Malli and a guy that I think has really strong upside potential you have is is basically at 88 500 pitcher TJ Antone. I was very impressed with what he did last year. And if you really dig deep into You know, spinning all of that his spit on his fastball. Curveball are off the charts last year. I mean, could he be a breakout guy for them? He could be. Oh, there's definitely quite aware of it, and he did perform very well. There's limited time. And he's definitely heard a chance. No, not every player is going to break out with a chance. But he's done a zoo, much as could be expected when he struck out 11 guys again and that's still good. He was like 2020 standards, so I'm definitely excited to see him and it It was fun watching him pig, So okay, So let's just assume that's it. You got to steel, gray malli and tone. Where does Wade Miley fit into all of this? But I mean is an aging picture, but he knows how to pitch is do you see him in a starting five rotation And if you don't, where do you see him? I do see him. I mean, they have other options. Lorenzo's out there her they didn't lay on. Technically, I mean, they did right Jeff Hoffman, who could probably also factor into the mix of some point. I think Molly's the favorite for the fifth positions of the fifth starter role. And, really, as fifth starters go, he's perfectly fine. I mean, Fifth starters don't tend to be that great to begin with, And he's also a flexible player. If the regicide to go elsewhere with the rotation, you can't have miss a long reliever. You can have him as a situational guy. He's not really a closer kite. But Miley does have some flexibility in his youth.
