"Those games are a lot. I'm glad I play dark souls one first and then when the three and then eldering, if I want Justin to elden ring, I'd be like, I don't know what to do. Like I would just be like, what are what are runes? What are these? What's my money? Where's my money? Why is my horse a goat? I need to know all these things. I don't know if I've told you this lately, but I love your brain. I just love it. It's always keeping me at my toes and keeping things surprised and that's one of the reasons why you are my future expert. Putting me on your podcast is like me playing sekiro. You're like, fucks up my brain and I don't like it, but I can't stop. Yeah. You're like a drug. I love you know how to respond to you, but I like it. No, you made me laugh and then we just talk about hot naked men and then it's just like the video game and let's not get too far. And yes, let's be very clear. So it's like one of the things that we saw, like the Megan, W one essay, and I was like, it would just be a robot telling you which video game characters are most pushable. I want to be on that movie with you. That would be so fun. I would love that. See, this has illusion. I'll be really. It's like all the men we know are video game characters, except for my I know my real husband and he might be a video game character and I don't know. I mean, I've never asked him. It is very funny. I went on a date with a guy a few months ago that he's not a nerd at all. At all. But he knows on the surface that I am. Man, it's so funny because I'm like, I feel like not to make this like a reverse gender role thing, but I feel like the guy in this whatever we had, it doesn't exist anymore. But what it did, he would send me Star Wars memes all the time. I don't watch Star Wars at all. But because he was like, Lisa and nerd clicks, he was like, she has to be in the Star Wars and would just always send me Star Wars memes and I would just pretend that I knew what he was talking about. Like, oh yes, it's funny. I never corrected him though. I just eventually just died off, but it was just very funny for a brief second. He was like, she has to like star wars. Like, that was it. The assumption was made. I also don't watch the wars in the stars, so I would be right there in your shoes. It's just so funny to me. And I was just like, you know what? I'll take it. It's fine. You know, at least again, sometimes it's just all about the effort. There was an effort made. No, so there goes that. It's all about solid snake. Solid snake naked snake, speaking of naked liquid snake. Liquid. Speaking of liquid, naked thing. Yakuza. I mean, like a dragon Easton. Let's talk about I mean, it's pretty relevant. Yeah, so I talked about like a dragon Easton a lot last week. And I'm still playing it. The simming in this game is real. I can't stop farming. I can't stop sticking my hands. But yes. I mean, that too, you know, gastric issues are a real gastric, yeah. Gas issues, stomach issues. Farting in pots and that's sorry, I'm just so jealous that you've put so many hours in. Oh yeah, I have. I was very fortunate to get a review code away ahead of time. Thank you, Sega. But yeah, it's a lovely game. I'm having a ton of fun with it. You know something I feel like we don't talk about enough with these games is while we always tend to focus, I think, on how funny and silly they can be. These games, when they, when they're tense, and when they're building that mood, holy crap, you know, there's a scene that happened in eastern recently and I won't talk about specifics because spoilers in bed. But I could barely even watch the screen 'cause it was just so tense and I was like, oh, and you just feel like that if I curious but clenching anxiety for the characters that are around you. And I think the last Yakuza game that made me feel that way was Yakuza zero because if you think about it back then here was just like this up and coming little gangster. Yeah, right? He didn't have a lot of authority or power or anything. And so it's sort of the same thing sort of kinda and this is the first game in a long time where I was like holy crap. I'm too empathetic with this. It's making me feel a little on edge here but I still have one I see him at this point. It's just like I am so emotionally attached to you that when they be like, here's the costumes. I'm like, I don't want to see them in that suit. I need him to go live in peace in the mountains where no one can contact him. I know. Right. I know, yeah, I know. He always tries to leave and then someone always finds him. It's like they have a GPS tracker on his ass off. But yeah, I'm still having an absolutely blast with it. And now you haven't played the game yet, but you play the combat demo, right? I played the combat demo and I played it at oh, that's right. TwitchCon. Hell yeah. And yes, I am so ready to have, like, I loved like a dragon with ichiban. But it was just too much. Like having a turn base is fun, but for me, it was like, I was so used to that old formula, so it's really glad that they kind of brought that back. Like you have the difference between music. I just love that you get the cards and you get the different weapons and stuff, but I was like, I'm just gonna use fist. I just went back to yeah, 'cause it's there, just punching all these guys. You had the brawler salad. You had a brawler style, but like, yeah, it's like I really love those games, but after going through all the cuter you saga, I was like, I got so attached to all those characters because I had them throughout all the games, you know? Yeah. And so seeing them back with just even though it's not them, it's just their faces. Like I still love that akiyama doesn't look like a samurai. It just looks like a guy who's doing a samurai porn. Like he's just walking around as a red robe, just like, hey man, what's up? I'm here. And I love that they also brought, they changed some of the faces. I never played the original yeast, but I love that they changed some of the faces to be like, I don't know why they put zao in the game. I was like, that's so random. Like they put his face in there, but they also had like all the old guys from the old men from Yakuza. Yes. It was really nice. It's so cool to see these characters may come back because I got to the point in like a dragon where some of those characters may come back and I got really choked up. I was like, oh, want to say I love you. Yeah. I love him and daigo, my sweet boy. He's like 50, but I'm like, baby boy, Diego, you know? In my mind, I'm like, he's a little baby boy, so we're in that white puffer jacket that we might have been for the first time. Around all these girls. Now I'm with you, and I think that's something that I also really love about you shin is, yeah, it is all these faces and that you've seen throughout the series. I think the part for me that's confusing is all of their names are

"Voice biometric side. Diving deeper into the VB side over my career, looking at it from a network perspective, from a fee pass perspective, I've also had the experience of looking at how behavioral analytics and behavioral analytics and machine learning and natural language processing can be utilized in a market space. So I'm pretty excited about what we're doing here at lumen box because as you said, I've been around the block a bit and I think that there's a really interesting trend or a series of trends that are taking place that we're excited to participate in. Interesting. So we'll get into those trends, definitely, over the course of the conversation. But first, what was your kind of, I'm looking at companies like intellect, Akkadian. Akiyama? I don't remember which one. And it looks like. And then we're looking at web ACT and nuance. So basically, it's a long winded way of trying to kind of climb into some of your previous experiences previous roles and tracking your journey essentially through this through this kind of space was nuanced was nuanced. First opportunity you had to work in this kind of technology spears or you're working on something before that. Well, it was a little bit of a dabble in it when I was at Nokia. When we were looking at different ways to manage and facilitate this is way before anything was technically a cloud. But managing contacts and contents in a pseudo kind of cloud environment at that time for large carriers telecommunications companies. And then with nuance is really when I got into the speech side of the business and was able to really kind of dig into what I felt at the time was its infancy in terms of how NLU was evolving into a very valid capability when you look at anything that has to do with customer engagement. From that point forward as you can kind of see some of the areas I wanted to explore had to do with how does this use case manifest itself in different parts of, let's say, the customer journey. Whether it's a network side, whether the authentication side. Whether it's a proactive outbound element in the martech side, as I had mentioned before. But it's interesting, it kind of all led me back to lumen box and really understanding how to position technologies in the ID speech, AI broadly speaking space as this market continues to evolve..

"Yet one who perhaps could only love them on his own terms only as they fit into his own sweeping vision for canadian music and erudite reader with deep knowledge of world cultures who nevertheless dismissed canada's most multicultural areas as less than truly canadian. And a man who despite a bomb throwing persona on the page is described by everyone. I've interviewed who knew him as a kind generous person. He's described even that way by his critic. Mitchell akiyama who once served as a teaching assistant for none other than armory schaefer. I'm not surprised that he's remained influential. Because some of those ideas are just so whether there's whether they continue to be useful in the way that he intended them to be or whether they're useful in the negative they're still useful. So i take sound locks with classes all the time i read his stuff on pedagogy and i think it's wonderful. I think he was. It was an amazing teacher. And also i find him to be a really good index for thinking about the ways in which politics in exclusion seep into every domain of our lives. I think that's one of the misconceptions. We have is you know when. We're read critiques of people that there's this sort of what's we're looking looking for blood sport or Or a life or death thing. I have this pretty scorched earth critique of like this soundscape concept and the pastoralism and his work it. But that doesn't mean. I don't admire or respect him as an intellectual we just disagree and that's okay. That's actually really important. Like in the age of social media and like one line take downs on twitter and stuff. I think it's incumbent on us to Really like you know still respect the intellectual process and people's ideas and nurture creativity and others say being wrong doesn't make you like evil or the your work useless and i read people. I disagree with all the time. So yeah i. I wouldn't say a probably compared to other people you've interviewed. I wouldn't say his work was formative for me. I did draw inspiration from it and Made me think about a lot of stuff and it was incredibly useful as a foil. You might save marie. schafer didn't exist. I would've had to invent him. And maybe this is. The greatest indicator that armory schaefer will continue to have a lasting impact on the study of sound. The fact that we haven't stopped arguing.

"Place you right in the center of the story in ways you'll have to hear to believe. Here we go, Sterling hanging out. Find Saturday. 700 wlw the sun peeking out, but it doesn't matter in Milwaukee. That's where Mohagher is Rain or shine. They had that roof used to be Miller Park. It's not anymore and Mo. I made the road trip to Milwaukee to watch those Reds get it on with the Brewers. And, uh um Oh, thank you for making time. How are you? How? How is your weekend? It's delightful sterling. Thanks for having me It's a good thing to have a delightful weekend, even on the road scenes from Reds baseball. First of all before we get to anything, what kind of beer have you been consuming you? I messaged you and you're like, Oh, Miller, and I'm like, Well, it's not Miller Park anymore, and like they have another beer. I'm not hating on Miller. Beer is good ice cold, but this is a very big beer area. Cincinnati the tri state in your Did you bring some Cincinnati brew for those people up there to school? Them or no? Well, no, They won't let you bring that into the ballpark. I have had a few outboards, which is delicious. And I'm trying to smuggle some back to Cincinnati. I think you can do that in your car. You're allowed to bring that across state lines yet. And I will. That's why you're my hero. Tell me is Wade Miley called his breath yet? And what kind of man is he? The first shot out the reds have had. I think, since the last time he had one, which was over a month ago, he gets a double stretches it to a triple on an error. And I was concerned for his well being and then ends up going into the next inning to pitch until he had to be yanked. What an outing. What a man. Yeah, I know what an outing and what a what a first half he's had, You know, for a guy If you go back to the beginning of last season before the pandemic, he was kind of the forgotten shiny, right. I mean, they had signed Castano's and shuttle Akiyama and Mike Moustakas owned by the way, Wade Miley and you know he wasn't one of these guys that they acquired because he was a waiver wire guy or somebody that another team discarded. He was a pretty major free agent signing. If you look at the recent history of the Reds, even though not so not so recent history, the Reds how many free agent pitchers have they given eight? Million dollars a year to they did that with Wade Miley, and unfortunately for him last season, it really didn't work out. He dealt with a lot of injuries. And as we talked about this team's rotation this year without several power without Anthony, the Sclafani I think there were a lot of people to kind of discarded the idea that he was going to be a big part of this team. Can you imagine for a team that got a very uneven first half from Luis Castillo? Although he's certainly been better recently for a team that was without Sonny Gray for a couple of different stretches, 13 For a team that doesn't have Trevor Bauer, who was great last year. Can you imagine where this team would be without Wade Miley giving him pretty reliable? Starting pitching in last night? That was a really huge game last night. You know, you lose the night before you've got this huge series against Milwaukee. You have to at least split right? You have to at least get two of the four this weekend to avoid falling further than six games out of first place. They had a really rough loss on Thursday, and he kind of settled everything down, and he gave up some hard hit balls dance with some Little bit, but surrendered some base runners, but David Bell showed a lot of confidence and letting him come out for the ninth inning. He's tempering came in and closed the game out in the in the bottom of the ninth, and it was, I thought a very, very appropriate end of the first half away. Miley, who has been in many respects kind of a savior for this team, I think I think you're absolutely right. Sterling talking to Mo Egger about Reds and brewer season mill walking now Let me ask this to this point, Give a report card on this team. I mean, this is a pivotal series. You hate to say First of all, it's nice in July to have games that matter, and if they don't win the division at this point, unless a lot of teams start sucking wind They're not going to get to the postseason. But this is huge. These four games now to left, hoping at least for a split, if not better, this weekend, and in the first three back at Great American Ballpark, with Milwaukee coming in with that brew crew, What is your take on where they stand and how they look pivoting into the second half, though it's actually beyond that already. Well, that might be a little bit easier to answer after these next two games. But there's a reality is, if they lose, you're staring at an eight game deficit going into the All Star break. That's going to be a really tough hill to climb at the same time. If you're just judging this team, forget where they are in relation to Milwaukee. Forget how many games out of first place that they are, I think, if you if you look at the first half of the season and think of all the things that went poorly, all the things that went long from a number of injuries and and the red, they're far from the only team that's dealt with injuries. But you know, Michael stock this is barely Play jelly. Votto missed a month. Nixon's L has barely played. They obviously, obviously right now have Lucas Sims and and T. J. Antone not available. Right now, you take that and then you look at the first two months, Luis Castillo really struggled the first two months. Amir Derek really struggled really the most for for most of the first half of the season, and you hate us. Flores has really struggled. Their bullpen right now is cobbled together with guys that other teams didn't want, and they still have more wins and losses. I I think I think all of that taken into consideration. You have to give him a pretty solid B south. You also go back, and they were six in one to start the season. They gave back that hot start. That's not good. Their bullpen is still a major question. Mark. Um their defense Last night was spectacular. I mean, you know, we talk about how good weight Miley was. The guys behind him helped him. Help them a lot. But for the most part this season, this team's defense hasn't been all that good. That's going to have to get better. But I just think if you look at everything that that happened to this team even go back to the offseason, it's not like they really went out of their way to improve the team. They gave away a couple of relief pictures. Trevor Bauer was never going to come back. And you might say Based on what we're Learning about him..

"All locked up bed 00 here Coffin Stadium, Reds and Royals in the second of a three game set before the Reds playing afternoon till tomorrow and Head on up to a four game series with the central leading Milwaukee Brewers. But do not look ahead right now. Chris Roberts, the young left hander on the mound for the Royals, has availed himself. Very well so far. It's had an opportunity in the first couple of runners on nobody out. They got out of that jam with the double play ball and now down the number eight hitter in the lineup, Kyle Farmer Faces the big brawny left hander and the first pitch is taken upstairs and out of the zone. Movie channel 123 inning. In his last He struck out Aquino and Naquan. Both looking On both on fastballs. There's a breaking pitch on and are part of the plate for a strike. You were talking about Castillo and Hello. Revisit that conversation we're having in the bottom of the second inning because he has been hit hard on multiple occasions. Already tonight. One one's a breaking ball just touches the outside corner very nicely placed curveball. But isn't it funny how this game works sometimes because the Royals don't have anything to show for the hard contact against Castillo, but he was getting just crushed early with a lot of soft contact. Tapper foul. You know, that's exactly the opposite of what happened to him early in the year. Every time a ball is hit hard early in the year or even saw, it seemed to find a hole. He had that terrible combination of pitching poorly and bad luck. And today he's not really hitting his spots, but there Like you say nothing happening. 00 game. Each team with one hit. Bitch breaking ball line, drive the left field and that'll get down right in front of Andrew Bennett attendee. And farmers got a base said Look like Ben intended, did not pick that ball up very well off the bat or sinking line drive, and he started to come in and then realized that will be too short of a hop. Kyle Farmer picks up a base it on a change up. Line drive to left field. And I'll sure go Akiyama. Akiyama already has a defensive player of the game. Reeling in a long, wide drive out from Salvador Perez. Left handed hitter, the right foot up on his toe weights and Rupert, you'll throw over to first base. We have not seen a good move from Chris Movie jet don't know if he has one. Kind of toss over there just to let him know that he knows you're there. First offering now to Akiyama's upstairs and out of the zone. Which is fastball now has varied anywhere from 87 like the last pitch all the way up the 91. There's a breaking pitch in there for a strike and Actually say breaking pitches Scoreboard labels it as a four seam fastball at 86. Mm. Definitely looked more like breaking ball. And throw over and Farmers back easily. Christopher. See me, you bitch! And it's Christopher K. R. I s t o f. D. R is the way he spells his name Young man from Cupertino, California. To Stanford. Orioles number one pick. In 2018. Out off to the left side and then one to count on Akiyama. They did not hesitate at all. In fact, actually boom, which was the second picture taken in the first round by the Royals, the first one the Reds will see tomorrow. Brady cigarettes. He was taken 18th overall boom which was taken 40th. Competitive balance pick here's the one to short lead by farmers swung on a foul back. And his first full season in the minor leagues. Booby chat is was tremendous 2019 he led Minor league baseball of just about everything. And then from there, he went from a ball in 2019 to the major leagues last year. One ball two strikes. Akiyama waits, long hold by Lubitsch breaking pitch just misses the top end of the strike zone there to two counts. They shade Akiyama. Really? The only shift you see on Akiyama is the right fielder deep. Left fielder shallow and Favoring the left field line. Lubitsch ready, And here it comes, Swung on this little ground ball. The third baseman, he'll flip the second base and the throw to first not in time to get hockey Yama. So farmers out on the fielder's choice. 5 to 4. Had one down in the evening. And we go back to Jonathan Lydia. Second days. That was a little stab job by AKI. I'm trying to slice it down the left field line, but No shift by Dozer. He was right there to feel I think knows you might have been a separate to toward the line. Enabled him to make that play with ease. India reached on a walk to start the ball game. Okay, I'm a little bit bigger lead than Kyle Farmer did. There's a throw over very long and deliberate pro. And we'll keep watching. Christopher Boo bitch to make sure that He doesn't have that. A move tucked away somewhere. Okay, I'm a little bit bigger lead now. You bitch those over again. 15 more entire record. You wouldn't know that I would know that one. Forever and the concessionaires would love them. India waits movements looks here He comes at taking a fastball on the outside corner, trying to say that the the beer man might start paying off. Pitchers pick off attempts well. You never know what kind of side deal you can get the ball park. Apparently, you do. India looks at a straight up defense. Move it along. Look at hockey. I'm a little shorter lead. He's not going and a breaking pitch for a strike. So a fastball for a strike a breaking pitch for a strike. And goobers now has jumped ahead of Jonathan India. Oh, and two. Score in this ballgame. We're at Kauffman Stadium and Kansas City, Missouri. Reds and Royal second of a three game set. Which delivers enters pop foul straight back just to the right of our booth. I'll say one thing I've noticed about the fans here at Kauffman say it's a very gentlemanly crowd. The ball gets fouled into the standards, not a pile of trying to Get a $5 baseball or $10 baseball there, Gentlemen. They're they're kind of offering it back and forth. Very nice. Oh, two, swung on, fouled at the plate and India stays alive. You haven't bought one of those in a while, Have you? Think they're more like $20 on that? Yeah. Yeah. My heart.

"I think you're going to have a really hard time convincing Bob Castellani and maybe convincing. They crawl that they should really go all in. I think it's on the players to put pressure on ownership and put pressure on the front office by the performances over the next three weeks to put pressure on this front office to the point that they almost have no choice but to go all in. I don't know how you really do that now, with a team that's eight games out of first place and has to leapfrog to tins in order to win the division. Yeah, although you know it can be done now. Can you can lightning strike twice in the season, and it's happened before, But I mean, look at that incredible run where the Reds were just to sniff away from first place in the course of a couple weeks where they went on their terror and beat the teams above them. Um, you know, can you do that again? Probably not. I would say I mean, because again, everything tends to even out There's a reason why the Cubs in Milwaukee are playing the ball they are and, um, generally, you know, you play to your own level, so getting those extra pieces in place, But then again, you know, we added pieces. In the off season. You know, guys like Shoko Akiyama and others were okay. This guy's gonna What's you know? So so you know, you took a gamble and lost on some guys, I would say, And certainly the injuries factor as well. I won't discount that. All teams obviously have injuries right now. I just don't see how you work around that with the guys. You have all of a sudden you're going to magically become a A World Series team. What the talent you have, And I think so, Yeah, Look, I tend to think that the Reds are going to get better. The Reds are going to have to play better and, frankly, that's going to involve them overachieving. I mean, is it coming into the reason? I think a lot of us thought this was roughly 500 team right, and they are most people you know, before before opening day, all right ballpark where they going to finish, most would have said. 80 wins 81 win 79 wins 82 wins something in that range. I don't think they've done anything over the first half of the season to really dissuade people from that day today, heading into the final game of the first half of the season, there are 500 baseball team, So let's just do the math, and I don't want to be Debbie Downer, either because there's nothing I want more than a September pennant race Milwaukee Brewers right now who have won nine straight games. We're in Pittsburgh this weekend to play one of the worst teams in baseball. The Milwaukee Brewers have set basically a 97 win peace. Right now, Chances are they're not going to win 97 games, but they're playing good. It's 5 98 baseball 97 wins. Let's just say they play 500 ball the rest of the way Since they have 80 games remaining, that means they finished with 89 victories. So for the Reds to tie the Milwaukee Brewers, they're going to have to win 49 of their last 82 games. That's a lot to ask. Now. They play the Brewers a ton over the next couple of weeks for next weekend in Milwaukee and three at home with them right after the All Star break. But again, let's do the math here. So a team that we thought was going to be roughly 500 before the year. That is exactly 500. Now we are all of a sudden expecting them to play whatever 49 33 is, but that's 98 win ball over the course of a full season. We're expecting that. It could happen, I guess. But again, I think when you put it in those terms of illustrates How huge of an uphill climb. They have, Um, which tends to make me believe Mo that initially, as I said, I think they just stay in Paddick. Okay, with everyone expected to be 500. We're 500 teen. Great. We we we met. We hit the mark now or some fans and the players gonna be upset? Yeah, but, um, then you turn around and maybe do something the off season. Um, I mean, that's feasible, right? It's feasible again. I think I think it would really help if somebody in upper management would articulate What the plan is going to be this offseason because again, the playing this off season was just kind of tread water. We're not really going to go in any one specific direction. We're not going to actively go out and try to make the team better. Right, but they didn't unload guys. I mean, even after Trevor Bauer left and after they gave away Rice, Selig Lacey some Archie Bradley. They still at the core of a decent club, right? I mean, again. Cast the honest and Winker are are starting outfielders on the All Star team. They didn't move uranium as far as they didn't move, Joey Votto, you know they didn't move Mike Moustakas. They didn't go in any one specific direction. I think it's really hard to answer the question What the Reds can infer do around the trade deadline when we don't know what Direction. They're going to go in this off season. Are they going to take the $30 million that they took out of the team's payroll this past off season and put it back into the club? Do we know who's going to be making the roster decisions? Is Nick call coming back if he's coming back with his capacity going to be? Is he the president of baseball operations? Well, they hire a general manager to serve under him when I hire a president of baseball operations. And have Nick crawl serve under that guy Who's going to be making the decisions about the manager?.

Mike Moustakas Trevor Bauer Joey Votto Debbie Downer Bob Castellani Shoko Akiyama 80 games Archie Bradley Nick 81 97 wins $30 million 97 games Pittsburgh 79 49 Brewers Cubs Reds eight games

"Was a rough start to the baseball season for show Go Akiyama. He had the leaf spring training when his wife was involved in a freak accident. He then starts the season on the injured list with a hamstring issue, and then it looked like he wouldn't see a heck of a lot of playing time because the outfield was crowded and it was productive. But because of a couple of injuries, he found himself in the line up more and more, and he was pretty productive, especially in the Rocky Series. It just seems to me for sugar to be productive. He has to play almost every day. Can David Bell find him enough playing time? I'm not sure that in our outfield right now that Anybody is going to slot in as every day unless they're their name is Jesse Winker. Nick Castano's I think there's gonna be some swapping out. I think that's one of the reasons you're seeing since l play in in the middle infield and at third base. I think you're still going to see some some movement in that area. And as we get into interleague play, I think you're going to see Winker moved to the designated hitter spot in those ballgames to get since Ellen Ah, Chiana into the outfield. As far as playing every day. I mean, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The guys that hit and whether your name Zaki, um or whether your name sins l or India or farmer. Yeah, Yeah, well, would you put it, you know, 16 losing seasons over the last 20. It's kind of hard to overcome that number. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's just hard believe that we've been losing for that long. You know, But when you think about ST Louis in the fact that they were willing to cut loose the NFL team And, uh, you know, but we've just settled in this city for what we get, you know, with professional sports. And it's It's really been sad that we haven't had More of a winning tradition here in Cincinnati and what 34 decades. Yeah, it's zit. Uh, it's tough to stomach. Yeah, well, would you said that there? You know this really where they just picked up, you know, and it was worth the 1.5 million. You know to me? It just amazes me that you know, we're paying that kind of money for an average major league pitcher. You know, in comparison to somebody like, you know, um Getting 40 million. Yeah, that's a bargain. I mean, that's a huge bargain. Um, but, yeah, the Reds Reds have a long way to go. You know, I still think there's a lot of what if, um, you know, with the cove it and what did what the season gonna look like. You know, and if they ran the table, they went to the World Series. You know, if you don't have fans in the stands, what's it going to mean the Cincinnati anyway? Well, I wouldn't would. I would certainly take it. I would take a world championship fans in the stands or not, but that Z putting the card in front of the horse at this point. Right. Was it this time last year that we get twigs last year, the year before that was two years ago. Last year was the Mike Moustakas and Nick Castano's and show Go. Akiyama and Wade Miley off season. Okay, Because I was remembering because, twig I mean, that was a big signing, and that was really blown up. And then we traded him halfway through the season and you know it. Uh, yeah, You're right. I don't think I don't think the Reds of honesty trust with the with the fan base. That's a good way to put it, Doug. Thank you for calling. Thank you for listening. Thank you. All right. Appreciate you check in and see that I am E get. I get worked up about this stuff because I just I am Those words from Bob Nightingale, the team's image and the narrative of its owner. Those two lines. They're gonna hang with me for a while in relation to what the reds images and what the narrative of the owner is. Homewood Place and Tracy. Welcome to sports talk. Great show has always wanted. I think Cincinnati fans want players that can rally around. We're tired of getting all these different players from year to year in year year. Um, you know, Davey Conception came up and he hit 209. But he played some damn good D and we stuck around with him and look what happened. You know what? Let's pick some guys and looks build around it. And let's keep a team together for about 10 years and let's win a championship. We're better than ST Louis. Hey, we got Bob House and from ST Louis, I think, didn't we? Well, but we're not. But I mean, I don't know what barometer says we're better than ST Louis. What? What Veronica, would you be now? But I will say, I think you're bigger point there is is you have picked a direction you don't want to go in this front office and ownership group has never picked one spot and stuck with it. And when stuff like that, the longer this offseason rides The more I find myself thinking. I know exactly what Dick Williams was thinking. And why he got the hell out of dodge after dealing with right? Who was the young shortstop You were talking about last week that you meet on the Reds. No. The prospect God be with the Indians. I made Rosario Okay, well, bring somebody like that up. Tell the place and good D tell him to move the players over. Play the small ball and let's get back to Reds baseball. I'm gonna hang up and listen the rest your show, but I love it. Thank you very kind of, you know, he got another point, if you would, if you would pick one philosophy, stick with the philosophy and let's just say, for argument's sake, it was something is wild and kooky and crazy as Scout draft and develop well and maybe we will begin to see the fruits of that labor since they turned over so much of the organization down below. In the last year and a half. There wasn't a minor league season last year, but my frame of reference would be this. I don't need to go back to the seventies with the prospects that were homegrown. When the Reds last were relevant, the 2010 12 13 playoffs They made the playoffs. 2010 12 13 think of some of the players that were on that team..

The official attendance at Raymond James Stadium for Super Bowl 55 will be around 25,000 fans and 30,000 cutouts for the Bucks and Chiefs. We've got the game Sunday here on 700 WLW. The college basketball scene includes the Xavier at Villanova game scheduled for Sunday being postponed. What a covert issues within the savior program. Xavier returned action over the weekend after 20 days off beat. Butler then had a covert 19 positive test within the program. Had tomorrow's game versus to Paul canceled And now Sundays versus Villanova scratched as well on the hardwood tonight. Miami is a Kent State in Mac play Dayton is that do cane in a 10 action? This season on the ice that Columbus Blue Jackets skate at Dallas coverage at 6 30, You'll find it down the dialogue, Fox Sports 13 60. All right, I see Reds early on tonight. I want to deal with the Bengals in the seven o'clock hour on a piece of Paul dinner, Junior wrote from the athletic That'll make your head explode. That will lead us into a topic around 7 20 I saw and read it yesterday and I've saved and I think we can present tonight to have some fun with it. SB Nation wrote something today about Tom Brady. I think we can make a Cincinnati topic tonight in the eight o'clock hour is about Tom Brady being one of the most one of America's most polarizing athletes Today in You know me, I'm always looking to localize it tied in and I thought, well, then who would be the most polarizing Cincinnati sports figures through the years? Round here will do that and more. Let's get to it. We begin with the Reds. Couple of different things developing. We'll see what we make out of it. I was I was struck by a tweet I got last night after the show. I want to say it was who moves from a Rob Mueller. Who said the Reds have created absolutely zero Or even negative interest in their product since a team that's sorely underperformed most of last year. It was his tweet. The redhead created absolutely zero or even negative interest in the product since the team that sorely under performed most of last year, and my response to him was it's striking. That's one word. Another might be frustrating, but I'm going to go back to this well again because of where they were for six years of losing. What they did last offseason at this time. What? We were talking about it This time I go back and look, I keep the show sheets of every show. I do. I go back and look at what we were talking about it in like this week a year ago. And I looked at all the stuff we were talking about involving Mike Moose, Takis and show Go Akiyama and Nick Castano's and figuring out the batting order and figuring out how this team fit in comparison to the rest of the National League Central. We were talking about the starting rotation and how good it would be. And I think now of what I've spent time Topic wise on this offseason. And it hasn't added up. Much at all. There's been very little reaction to the whole shortstop conversation. I think, in some cases because either some don't even know who the names are or have reached the point of Disappointment. And I was talking about this lunch today. They ended last season closer to Winning the division being a winning team than being closer to a rebuilding team. Yet how have they approached this off season? The end of the year on the scale of Ready tow win versus rebuild it. They ended it closer to ready to win, but not good enough. They got in because of it expanded playoffs, and then they were quickly dismissed. And I think the frustrating thing is, I used the analogy over the weekend. It has been a fence straddle this offseason. Straddled the fence. They've really done nothing of significance. Either way in the in the last place you wanna be in sports is fence straddling. You're either going forward or you're rebuilding because staying in the middle, does you? No good. None whatsoever. And this team has tried to fence straddle and just kind of piecemeal it together and then cross their fingers and then hope things are okay. That's frustrating. And I would imagine that indecisiveness has frustrated Reds specifically Dick Williams in years past when he was the general manager of this team. What do you want? Which direction do you want to go? Pick one and go there. A year ago. At this time, they had picked one and they had gone there. Remember how we were feeling and what you were what we were thinking what we were discussing. And one year later. Consider where we are. Up next we'll get into Sean do little what it means for this team and what it means for their payroll. "The red meat. Another bat and shortstop is a good place to, you know, get a high impact relative to who they already have, because the position is nearly empty. Right now. Yeah, well, the only way they're going to get a bad you have to trade for one, right? Who's going to try to start it? Starting shortstop at this point? Yeah, it's a little late for teams to start treating their starters. If you were going to make a big trade, I think maybe a month six weeks ago was a better time, but spring training already open, we think in in two weeks. So there's not a lot of time for that. All right, let's move to the outfield. It was a crowded situation last year. A lot of lot of potential out there. I mean, obviously, Jesse Winker we have healthy is going to be one of your starting outfielders. Shoko Akiyama kind of figured things out towards the end of last year. You gotta figure he's in center field. And then what? Nixon's L And who else? I mean, if you look at sends l right now you have him hitting 2 51 this year. I'm not sure. Not sure anybody's ready to anoint him yet is a full time starter. Are they? No. I think I think 2020 kind of it was like an abbreviated season. It's kind of delayed making some of the final Decisions on who is going to be the piece of the future. I think the Reds have good outfield depth, because you know there's this fine guys out there that you'd be comfortable starting, generally speaking, but There's no one there who is a star, and that's that goes under the problem that after Suarez, there's just not really any other starters. A bunch of good average player that's fine, but it's hard to you know, with a division regularly with just You know good average players. Yeah, the other guy. The mix out there is Nix Castellanos, and I really think Castano's his defense improved last season, you pointed out to in this article again. You got pretty. Castano's projected a 27 89. I think I take that from my right fielder. If he's got a decent obp, and honestly the way you've got it scoped out here. He ought to have that. I think you have made 3 23. Maybe 3 24. Nick Cassidy Ann knows could be to the outfield. What au Hainiu Suarez is to the infield, right? He could be. He still has some upside remaining. He's not, you know, 34 or anything. He's still in his twenties, so there could be no another peek here too. I mean, he had a pretty nice run with the Cubs at the end of 2019. On. He has improved offensively because He was. I mean, he was. He was a message. Third base for Detroit. They gave him as much time there as was reasonable and he was kind of, you know, a little bit awkward in the outfield the time he's never going to be a gold level remotely, but He's getting more acceptable. Let's just say, you know, we're chatting with dancing Borski, his zips projections on the Reds and other teams out right now, here on 700. W well, w All right. The rotation is Castillo and Gray. And maybe Tyler Malli and a guy that I think has really strong upside potential you have is is basically at 88 500 pitcher TJ Antone. I was very impressed with what he did last year. And if you really dig deep into You know, spinning all of that his spit on his fastball. Curveball are off the charts last year. I mean, could he be a breakout guy for them? He could be. And the thing is the Reds know it. They have Kyle body from Dr Wein Baseball who is I believe the foremost expert in in advance pitching analytics in You know the baseball world s. Oh, there's definitely quite aware of it, and he did perform very well. There's limited time. And he's definitely heard a chance. No, not every player is going to break out with a chance. But he's done a zoo, much as could be expected when he struck out 11 guys again and that's still good. He was like 2020 standards, so I'm definitely excited to see him and it It was fun watching him pig, So okay, So let's just assume that's it. You got to steel, gray malli and tone. Where does Wade Miley fit into all of this? But I mean is an aging picture, but he knows how to pitch is do you see him in a starting five rotation And if you don't, where do you see him? I do see him. I mean, they have other options. Lorenzo's out there her they didn't lay on. Technically, I mean, they did right Jeff Hoffman, who could probably also factor into the mix of some point. I think Molly's the favorite for the fifth positions of the fifth starter role. And, really, as fifth starters go, he's perfectly fine. I mean, Fifth starters don't tend to be that great to begin with, And he's also a flexible player. If the regicide to go elsewhere with the rotation, you can't have miss a long reliever. You can have him as a situational guy. He's not really a closer kite. But Miley does have some flexibility in his youth. And has been willing Tonto be in that kind of role in the past, so I wouldn't worry too much about Miley. I just I think probably the red is other the rotation Dad. Now it's not a poor rotation by any stretch, but it's just a lot were. It's none of it's not the big Plus, that was last year when you take out power. Yeah, I guess we keep our fingers crossed and keep reading. You dancing Borski. Great stuff. Always great having you on Thank you. Always fun. Sex has me on Ken. So he thinks so. Suarez is really the only star on the team right now. Suarez, a.
