"Well again, I find it. Stunning. I have no idea why anyone within HHS is trying to contain or control what the public health officials should be telling the? American. Public. Really, eroded, the trust that the public should have in public health favor rooted the. Ability of health officials to step out the good news is nobody's GonNa. Tell twenty thousand what he should or should not say can block him from appearances which they clearly have done over and over again. But if he gets asked a question Anthony, thougb will tell you the truth. Tell you what he knows what he doesn't know and do it in a very direct fashion. That's what is very threatening to this administration and I think the fact that some. Bureaucrat at HHS is trying to suggest what Tony found. She should and should not be saying is giving him directly country information to what we know the science says is. Completely dangerous and outrageous. Bureaucrats to to. Laudatory term here this is not a member of the civil service learning expertise. This is just a political hack. This is just a coms person who got sworn in there I. mean you know. Like Rudy. Giuliani your sons. We have we have unbelievable public servants in. The department store at Aj Jess I worked with them every day and I admire their expertise greatly. So I should not have used that term in a derogatory fashion. This is a political hack. Yes I just want to make that decision and the thing that I worry about again, we've gone through this twice now right? Like we had the lockdown shelter in place much of the country doing that a push to open up the president. Opening up first few weeks booked. Okay. Even for the verse six or seven weeks then we had that awful awful outbreak through the sun belt in the summer tens of thousands of Americans died. In that, we now have the cases coming down again and we have trump today on new. York City Indoor dining. He saying they're reopening thirtieth at twenty five percents capacity a step in the right direction, but should go faster. So he's he wants more people to move faster, and then we also have this testing is once again in this country and I can't even believe I'm saying this slowing down Robertson Meyer who tracks it's the Atlantic says, there are caveats another possible factors, but ultimately here's the fact that trump has said repeatedly, he wants to slow down testing he interfere with CDC policy in ways which slowdown testing and now testing is now slowing down. Are we unprepared for what the fall is bringing right now. Absolutely unprepared, I've lived in a college community. The the kids have come back a terrifying most of us in the community with what is going on their sororities and fraternities on lockdown. There are football players who have been identified with Kovin there on quarantine k. you did a good job have initially testing everybody we the chancellor is a medical doctor. He understands how important this is were dealing with a local lab that can do one time test, but that's it. There are not clear plans for what happens if you really need to pivot to online learning for everybody. There's not clear plans for what happens if you send all these kids home in many of them are infected who then begin to circulate it in communities around the country I don't blame the university I think the university here and across the country are trying to do their best job in these very precarious situations but we still don't have a national testing plan. We don't have enough test we don't have the rapid turnaround tested everybody needs an we have a president who continues to insist despite what public health officials would tell you about positively rates needed to guide for opening up that we have to put everybody back in enclosed faces side by side, which will know will is outbreaks. Former AJ, secretary a governor Kansas Kathleen Scibilia from a Lawrence thank you so much joining us tonight. Be You. For Look at how the administration would handle this crisis I want to bring in some on Sanders senior adviser to the Biden campaign and some of great to have you want to start with. Some I've seen some folks saying, well, you know. In February, January the Democrats were all over the place on this too and they weren't paying much attention. I have to point out as a matter of the record. Back, in October you have. October before we even have covert. Vice President Biden tweeting about how we're unprepared and the trump administration's unprepared. For a pandemic trump has rolled back progress president Obama my made to strengthen global health security need leadership that builds public trust focuses on real threats and mobilize the world to stop outbreaks before they reach our shores and then vice president offering bed in. January about Covid Ron Clean one of his senior advisors as well in the Atlantic. What is it been like to watch this unfold from your perspective? What is the vice president think needs to be done now? It is battling Chris, but frankly it's infuriating and I hope Americans heard vice. President, Biden yesterday he was in Michigan and Warren Michigan talking about this very issue obviously as soon as the news hits, he adjusted his remarks to address at the top because the reality is. We're now at the point where one hundred more than one hundred, ninety, thousand Americans are dead dead from virus. Frankly, Chris, that the president knew was so dangerous at the same time that he was telling Americans and it was no worse than the common flute. What, what is I think most egregious about the tapes that we heard from Bob Bob. Woodward. End The president yesterday though isn't back. Then at the same time I remember that president trump was giving a China a pass. He was saying that you know President Choosing Ping knew what he was doing at the same time. He knew that what he was saying to the American people was alive I think that matters most Chris because currently we are we're having this conversation via zone whereas in other times, we might actually be in studio together their parents and children and teachers and folks that are. Critical to the economy of the school, we're trying to figure out what learning There are parents who today sent their children made the decision. It's in their children to schools where they don't know if they're safe and there are other families that have had to juggle working from home or not having the ability to have childcare not work at all while helping their children through remote learning, making classrooms in their living rooms and their kitchens and their bedroom in corners of their bedrooms..

"We know what to do. We could follow what countries like South Korea did and we could get our hands wrapped around this epidemic but what makes it so so unconscionable is that there's nobody stopping the trump administration from following South Korea's Lee. There's nobody stopping them from deciding to fund a testing tracing and quarantine system. There isn't an NRA when it comes to the politics surrounding this issue if trump would lead and do the things that we know would get this epidemic we could save thousands of lives and that I think is the critical difference. Yeah the vast silent majority of this country across all sorts of different lines wants to keep each other safe to get this virus under control to look out for each other and doesn't want to get sick and don't want level inside that's the vast majority of this country and a small group. Sliver is calling the shots right now in the presence here Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut. It's always great to have you sir. Thank you very much. Thanks I want to now bring in Kathleen civilian. She's the former secretary of health and Human Services and the bomb prior to that she served as the governor of Kansas a a a a sort of remarkable resume to evaluate. What's going on right here. I I start with a question about expertise and who you listen to. I mean this has been a theme. The trump administration from day one. You know there's a Mar-a-lago club member who knows a guy and he gets in the ear of the president on some policy. There's a donor who's got someone. There's someone knows someone as opposed to a a sort of rigorous system for policy-formation formation for funneling information to President. And we've seen this in the pandemic and there's someone who's had to sit there through h one m one another what. What are the costs of that? Why does it matter if the president ignores the vast institutional knowledge of the US government and instead has his son-in-law? Have someone post something on facebook. Chris I think it's very dangerous for any leader to be in a situation where no one around him as able to tell them the truth and that seems to be where trump likes his information. No-one disagrees with the no one can get into read anything. Listen to anybody We were blessed in the Obama Administration by having literally thousands of people who wanted to leave their well-paid jobs there law and distinguished careers. Just come serve they were. They had hands up. They said Mr President. I want to be part of your administration. I will do anything that you say. So wait a plethora of talent expertise but also I worked for president who said we are listening to science. In matters of healthcare we are listening to the scientists in scary towns. When you don't have an answer. When he of vaccine when we will listen to the scientists he never deviated traumatic advice was sometimes uncomfortable but was really important and he wanted the scientists to talk to the American public directly. I think you've seen the public's reaction to Tony Thou- who is a world renowned scientists at the head of the vaccine development process in this country. Tony found cheese being gagged by our president of the United States. Right now not allowed to testify in. Congress have been told that he can't talk to anybody unless Mark Meadows says it's okay. That is exactly what should not be happening. The American public will not have any faith in going forward in the back into normal society unless the scientists say. It's really. Okay Tony found. She is gagged that listen to their state and local health leaders health scientists to Give Direction because if the United States backs out of that as somebody else is GonNa pick it up you secretary. Jeff switches extraordinarily large agency with huge responsibility. The CDC is one of the agencies in that in the is really is world renowned. I think it's fair to say I mean and one of the great mysteries of this pandemic is like what happened. Where is the CDC? I wanted to quote you this from Laurie. Garrett who's a great reporter on this she said I've heard from every CDC in the world right other countries he disease and they say normally our first to Atlanta meeting our CDC. But we ain't hearing back. There's nothing going on down there. They've gutted that place what set me. It's absolutely terrifying civil. I think the United States helping other. Cdc's in China in parts of the world because part of the notion is your only safe and secure as Americans. If you have an ability to immediately identify dangerous elements that are breaking out any place in the world. You look at the Abullah Incidents and the reason that was so successful is we immediately sent trained teams of folks to help Africa contain. What was an outbreak out? What could have been a lethal pandemic? It didn't happen that way so having Atlanta having the CDC epidemiologists who were envied all over the world to train scientists all over the world. Not Do what they do so well which is tests like crazy. A teach every state in the country had a do contract tracing Make sure that we staff up a well. Trained army in every part of the country teach states have quarantine made they have folks embedded in every state and local health department. Unfortunately states have no money. States have no additional resources to hire folks that taken a huge hit. The federal government knowledge has no guidelines for what goes next in violating their own. Cdc Plans I have to tell you Chris You. Senator Murphy are overly generous. It didn't take two weeks for the president to ignore the CDC guidelines. It took twenty four hours the guidelines were put out the following evening. He began texting liberate Michigan Liberate Maryland. I mean liberate Virginia. That was twenty four hours after the CDC guidelines which do make sense were put forward wear the CDC is. I don't know what we need them. Front and center we should be hearing from the CDC who will teach us how track trace in identify and shutdown outbreaks of this disease and from the NIH will be at the front end of vaccine development and right now does the CDC is missing in action former AJ Secretary Kathleen Sibelius agency that up the CDC is part of thank you so much for your time tonight see coming up the shocking new whistleblower complaint from an ousted. Hhs official the trump administration ignored dire warnings about cove. It all the way back in January when he was ringing the alarm what we learned when Dr Rick Bright spoke out today next with.

"Seema Verma's time in the administration goes all the way back to November two thousand sixteen when president elect trump picture on the recommendation nation of Mike Pence to run. Cms We have the president of the United States. It is my great privilege to administer the oath of office to Seema Verma. She'd been pence's consultant on Medicaid in Indiana as a fellow hoosier. I couldn't be more proud. Your leader after trump fires his first. HHS Secretary Tom. Tom Price Vermont reportedly threw her hat in the ring for top job. But instead trump picked Alexander a former Eli Lilly executive who had been the number to new excess official back during the George W Bush administration to be. HHS Secretary or a special day for me. Because we've been looking for this day for a long time. I'm thrilled to be here to administer the oath of office to America's new secretary of Health and Human Services Mr Alex as her when I took over. HHS there were lots of questions about corruption in the federal health agency. The American people have a right to know that the person running. HHS is looking out for them and not for their own bank account. But he's a by. The book lawyer has largely cleaned up the scandals that plagued success in its first first year. One thing that hasn't been fixed the relationship between as our Verma they fought over policy and staffing and things worsened after politico broke the news. This spring that Verma had spent millions of dollars of public relations consultants to boost her brand reports at least eight former White House. Presidential transition and trump trump campaign officials were hired as outside contractors by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. They were brought in to help polish the personal brand of and provide strategic strategic communication support to CMS administrator. Seema Verma now joining me to discuss the story to my colleagues Adam Cancun healthcare reporter Hayden and Russian Proton back again to hello and the three of us have been writing articles about Verma and as ours clashes. Adam you and I have specifically honed in on Verma's as use of PR consultants ratchet. No one has tracked Verma's policy more closely than you and the three of us also reported on Azores fights with the White House earlier earlier this year at the country's focused on the impeachment inquiry Eh presidential election all of these other stories. Why does a battle between between two healthcare bureaucrats matter sure well? These aren't just any kind of federal bureaucrats. These are the top two appointees in charge of the entire health agenda agenda in the trump administration. And what makes that particularly important. Is that The trump administration and president trump in particular not always the most focused on the policy particularly right so in administration maybe more than in the past the various cabinet. Heads Alex as R Seema Verma who runs The biggest healthcare CARE programs Medicare Medicaid obamacare. They're more responsible than maybe you know. People in their roles in the past have been for determining what exactly the agenda is and especially at a time where the president is consumed with impeachment. Everybody else's focused on all the kind of political wranglings they are kind kind of had free free rein to figure out. What do we do with the short time that we have left in in the president's first term trump is not sweating the details that Alex Cezanne Team of not always are so some of the internal fights that we reported on either over staff even over getting a seat on air force? One these battles date back years. We've known about some of this long enough that I remember a literal fight over an office. This office politics at at the highest level so roach. Why are we reporting on amuse issues? Now I think the crucial thing about what this story shows is it's not just personalities and bickering and office politics when the amount of fighting can slow down or scuttle. Whatever word did you want us their healthcare genda to the point where it could be a big problem for the president? We obviously know. President trump wants to run on healthcare in twenty twenty and if his his if two of his most senior people are fighting like this in order to work in government to effectively. You need to work together especially when you're running a bureaucracy of this magnitude so I think that's what elevates it At least for me you know even if you have a really juicy story The Air Force White Anecdote is an example of that. I think for folks who read the story was the Air Force One anecdote so before the president trump traveled to Florida to make a high profile Medicare announcement There was fighting over whether administrative or would get a seat on the plane and AJ Secretary Alexander tried to prevent her from getting on the plane. chick yes. They do dispute it. They say that didn't happen And by our reporting Vermont only got on the plane after the White House intervened and got her on there and of course she oversees the Medicare program program and her Her Agency was largely responsible for drafting the executive order that the president signed in Florida. So I think you know if you were arguing about plane seats I mean what else is going on. That actually messes up. That's that's relatively simple as far as what the federal government does. It's nothing compared to regulations John Prescription drugs or other things affecting the Medicare program that these bureaucrats have to shepherd through and do it in a timely way so that they can actually run on something so let's talk about those policies that might be in the balance. You mentioned Roxana. The fight to get things done in government bureaucracy. I've had described to me as no matter what you're walking quicksand. So if you're if you're walking in opposite directions and pulling each other in different ways it makes it hard to get regulations out and we. We have examples in our reporting of either secretary as are stepping on Seema Verma's affordable Care Act replacement plan. Were Seema Verma. Criticizing Tasers drug rebate plan and not working hand in hand. Let's lay out the actual that each side is making easer World Verma world in more detail. So what what. Verma's allies arguing about secretary as our in his leadership of I'll I'll start with this. So her allies. I say that the Secretary I should say they dispute this but that he is actively undermining her in a lot of different ways one is just her involvement on the in making policy. Other things are related to personnel. Promotions and You know they're basically trying to marginalize her to the point where she doesn't have an impact And and they are you that she should because she's a very high profile l. Official and she has a lot of responsibility. She was tapped for the job. For a reason an unusual I mean in particular because You know. Cms It's it's maybe not as visible to the to the public as as Health Secretary. But it's responsible for more than eighty percent of H. Budget. So they're running literally the biggest programs grams for the most people in the country and that affords traditionally cms a lot of autonomy and CMS administrator. So you know they tend to be a lot of times the face of the highest profile issues here And in this case at least part of I think maybe a driving force of of firms kind ability particulars. Here is that every time she tries to go out and get something done she feels like there's this kind of tug of war where. HHS is coming in and saying we're interested in that and you know what we're going to be the face of of whatever accomplishment. You're trying to get out. That secretary should get the credit for it. But let me take the other side of this secretary as our is technically her boss. Shouldn't he be getting credit. Should he get to choose what he is announcing rolling out rather than his deputy on and this is where I mean. Ideally you have a relationship that can be collaborative right one of one of the things in the course of reporting story I heard over and over especially from from Seema Verma side if things is that A good leader a good boss knows that elevating his or her own people reflects well on on on him or her. And that you now if Alexandra wants to come across a great manager as a great. HHS Secretary One of the best things you can do is empower his own people and instead of empowering his own people. He's you know kind of trying to trying to marginalize them in order to kind of keep control things. That's that's the main complaint. I've heard they're obviously. He should be getting credit for the major accomplishments accomplishments of the administration. they are one of the allegations from team team. Seema Verma is that secretaries are has not accomplished enough enough big things drug pricing for instance which the president has campaigned on. There have been defeats of the Drug Pricing Agenda. That Alexandra wants so maybe he stepping in and taking the things that Seema Verma has achieved and using that to bolster his accomplishment record. Yeah Yeah I mean. It's it's one of those things where when you when you break cricket down to just kind of the base level. It is very much a A workplace dispute right. We see these things workplaces. All the time. What's important remember is the sheer stakes of this right? Not only is it. The fate of The trump administration's health agenda. Not only is it. You know the fate of these extremely extremely kind of politically At times controversial but very important policies. It's also how you just administer day-to-day these programs for hundreds words of millions of Americans. How how you manage the logistics of managing you know your health department while at the same time trying to kind of keep these interpersonal relationships flow So the criticisms of Alexy's are just recapping that he has an empowered Verma. He's blocked her taking things away from her. And that while his own efforts efforts to achieve agenda item struggled he he may have taken some shine from his deputy now looking the other direction. What are the criticisms resumes of Seema Verma and her leadership and why she is in meshed not just a fight with as are but in some bigger questions to Rochester? I think one of the things that I believe all of us heard is there is a either lack of appreciation or failure to follow process at times undeveloped being policy on the part of the administrators part. Now that seems really really dry but the reason why it matters is because processes everything in the federal government in order to effectively effectively deliver Initiatives regulations. You name it right And that oftentimes she will freelance things and kind of go out on her own In a way that is not particularly collaborative either so I think one of the examples in the story that we had was related to the ACA replacement plan that she came up with as as you said earlier down that Secretary as our shot down because they I felt like it was not something that they could even present to the president without you know as as an effective proposal. The other thing that I've heard and you you know reporting from the to view really underscored. This is that the administrator is very concerned about self promotion and it not only rubs people the wrong way but I think it's demonstrated their actual lots of taxpayer resources going into outside contracts to boost her own profile and she's elevating herself Alf. Beyond what a lot of people see as what even above a cabinet level official and she's not one and so I think that also creates a lot of tension in there in for listeners. Who want more detail on these contracts were? referencing is a story that politico broke back in the spring that administrator Seema Verma directed millions of dollars toward communication consultants who helped burnish her brand racer image that story provokes congressional investigations.

"Mummy you say I'm kidding my Momma Too Bad asshole. My Mom's alive. Everyone tells me I banged his mother before she died. That's ridiculous does it feel so good feel good for you well we love DC as well actually podcast guests. If you get a chance to listen it was excellent. Talks with his mom a really good job I thought he did a great job of it. So go listen to. There's nothing like a nice young smooth hairless boy that seems like odd awed came in the middle. Yeah right in the middle of the final words so image B. is absolutely right when I was in purgatory and nobody not Gerry Callahan over the intercom was talking about me. Image being DC for sure MHP led the charge. And I am always grateful to that. I think I'd be here anyway anyway but it doesn't matter yes they were you know they were asking questions which I like. Nobody else was doing and I will forever be grateful to those guys and You know doesn't brought content and a dark time. There was no Dickman hinch. Who did he did he? And so if he's indeed gone and I don't know what I don't know what happened in DC. And I were texting regards messaging early this morning. He doesn't really know either. He didn't just saw the message he didn't know either. I texted DC as well to get the scoop bonus yeah and You know I imagine you can understand tragic times you will confront laugh sure. I appreciated that I said I predict. MHP will be back at some point. I don't think this will stick nick. I don't tend. DC said I pretty back by Thanksgiving Slough grief. Grieving brings us all together. I guess the new job and think so so no I think he doesn't. He doesn't. This is not a criticism. But he doesn't like the heat. He likes throwing it. He likes causing housing trouble. You like to ask him questions but he doesn't come back. You like being exposed. which was by Steve? I know Steve Really re this. The the blood is on your hands friend. And this is your kill this even even. He's like a deer. Even after this emotional moment steve went back and dug up. Do you hanging about because the deer died quicker than the hanged India upside down and let them bleed out before you even they snack as to which fat ass playing meal right now. You really think it was the poetry that started it breath. I think that was more like he knew that we were all having fun. I do think the whole thing. He's very he. We would do. The Marty Walsh stuff indeed. He tried really hard with that. He in with the other guy be like. Hey I got this call from this guy. I got this call this number and recognize that sort of paranoid doing now. I think he's like I don't WanNa deal with it now. My advice my advice I would say the him like you can kind of just stick your finger in. You'll have to just have some fun tweet about the show and listen to the show and even I mean. DC pointed out to me he goes. You can dupe one podcast a month one of rights. I think he's going to back away from all the other parody account see runs. That's a great question so through three hundred of them by also. Think the Kelleher thing. I think you really hate her. That's you know I think that sort of I think he's the first casualty of the minivan console war and that's a big kill for themselves. I got to say this but he so he. I texted him and said what. What's going on here buddy? Respondents said that exactly what you texted. I'm pretty much. What's going on here champ? And he said. Can I call you at some point this week and I said sure but that's all I know I don't know if there's some dirty details he doesn't WANNA next. Why could see him say that somebody in the mid so world has been bothering him? That's the way he thinks right. So Oh you know and even even clients and you believe that and you believe that like so big right. That's a good example. So maybe it's best for him to just. This isn't for everyone. He served his purpose. He was a good soldier gray. We now need a new secretary. Of was he secretary of position. Thought who sex date I think he's Sacramento. Huge Best Secretary of state is our ambassador to the World Matt from Providence immediately dancing on the grave of Mason. The I'm willing to step in warm. There's no so the so the point will be made by me. Yes like this. This is not mean election. This is this is your in your term. Can I throw. Aj in here again. We have a transgender person in our cabinet. Now you're engaging in tokenism correct something we can point to. It seems like this seems like a naked ploy correct. But I I am. I am throwing that one out there just just just to say you know. I like that as well. Maybe from providence say Ambassadorship to another country. Okay you know maybe armband around very good. I don't know I'm I'm just throwing out. There was a state. I understand that. You should get a nice retirement package basser Bermuda or something exactly. Yeah I don't know he didn't now. Here's an interesting little. Maybe I'm wrong here. When odal wording that he threw in there didn't say he's leaving the persona of the hiring them? HP Persona Right does that me. John Devon is going to be back or someone else will be exciting. I'm just saying I don't know at the end of the show know no. DC said he's been preparing for this for what really he. He's seen the writing on the walls. More than as you prepare for. Love is something that doesn't pay you anything. Yes good strategy by DC. It was wife has pointed that out to them. I guess but yeah. He said he knew this was coming for a while. So I don't know if people from the discord can be added perhaps You know guys like Djba. The of Stepped up you know. This is the problem when like you lose those great chemistry. Yes so when you lose that does it becomes something else you know has become like a bad spinoff off right. I'm concerned is this archie. SHOWS GONNA turn into Joey I mean. He's the he's the president so many other things to worry about so I'm willing in your from Africa province but you know I like the idea of a solid token position as well I think if AJ wants person. So I'm just being pragmatic here. So same merchant comes back attacking us in then. Listen to this okay. Some companies has hate. Seems like we have real issue with transgender people. Say Well they say that. You're you're about to apologize thirty-six you know we. Aj Secretary of state of the minivan replaced. MHP be left the position where to fly on their face. So why don't you just Paul doesn't writing or you can do video. You want. It's up to you asshole. We're to fly into California into a big presentation to one of the agencies. I think so yeah. I'm sorry you think we're TRANSPHOBIC does the discord the representative to the secretary of state by definition. Is Your representative to the rest of the world. I mean essentially. Yeah when you say charter foreign policy so Ooh well yes I mean. I'm in charge of foreign policy but AJ or Matt will be you know. I'll give them the notes and then they'll spin it. They'll be the Mike pompeo to your trump correct correct. Yes indeed so. I don't know you know it's really quite by Harry Manila last night. By the way you asked me to ask if there have been a female secretary of the Treasury. And there's never female secretary of Treasury so there you go to trust the beginning we were talking about female he said there's never been the president. I said no female Vice President present knows he's obsessed with money says Female Treasury Secretary. I said I don't think there has I looked up. There's never has been surprised too young to even know those words. He's doing a good lesson school system pretty clear. What do we have a treasury secretary or no? Yeah I think we do the job pizza thing what do you what do you think of. HP's retiring on here. You go one hundred sixty eight nesting for a big loss now. I think the newer people they say well so what not know. This guy has been my brother and arms. I mean he was with with us for the real fights. Now he's one of the fans with access to the official show twitter account. Oh who's that new. I think he has to. I mean He. Can you know I gotTA. We gotTA booed him from the Twitter thread to loss. It's got a young put. Well is it the one where he looks like. He's shit maybe he's in a suit business business cash way the great run. Yeah that's it that's it I mean I say now I would say By the way a win for KFC. I know that's a win for KFC we came in here. I'm I'm honestly surprised you're taking it so well who me. Yeah what am I supposed to do. The guy wants to leave lash out in rage but what about. What am I supposed to do? A lot of people thought he free to leave. I mean as long as they. You know. Donate a portion of the future salary to me. It take test physical mental tests before they leave for the free leave. That's good were you say. People a lot of people wonder if and I'm not one of these of course but a lot of people wondered if there was maybe too much pomp and circumstance around a man not running a parody account anymore. It's up to them this question. I mean where are we going to video announcement in a press conference part of that anymore. It was a very understated classy exit. It was and that's what you want your secretary of state due. Yes I am nominating. Aj Secretary of state myself. I am nominating yet. And I shouldn't say that I'm throwing the name out there your respond with Matt from Providence. I think the only thing that makes sense for the whole thing makes sense going to make sense of the two of them do some sort of video dividends of ask them we ask them questions. This is bad news for Matt from Providence. Why is that? I think is going to be a strong contender. Yeah that's tough. I mean great credentials. Yeah I think you just tanked that problem. I mean she's willing to go literally all in for this. It's hard to you. Know is a sort of an odd way trump hillary election section it is providence. Was the clean. Cut Easy choice right but you brought a an outsider in Mo- shake things up so you compare Asia that trump in many ways every match like Hillary. I like a good solid candidate. He's a great Kenny. He's on my shortlist he's other shortlist. Got Matt Aj Rosie. Three people in the shortlist. WHO's the mom mm-hmm who's the third one? I don't know when that would really hurt him. HP If that's him have we know the good so we have a third name..

"Laws about bank lending and how you can and cannot we pay people and whether or not you can implicitly use government salary to to pay people back this is the kind of thing where you know of was remotely serious i think we'd be trying to look into what's going on there then the funny part that has sort of everyone in dc laughing is he's some of the security stuff just seems like he wanted fancier plane flights but like he built a secret silent phone booth in his office he wanted to get some kind of bullet proof desk he needs escorts if you're on the staff to come meet with him like you can't meet with him alone and they're not allowed to take notes at the meeting he has a twenty four hour security team that includes thirty people he brought that security detail with him to disneyland and the rose ball and he wanted his security team to use the sirens on their car so he could get through traffic and get to a dinner reservation at the diplomat which is a french restaurant in dc that new yorkers like to make fun of but that i guess dc ds like just to like this is my my son jose's favorite restaurant he gets dancy toddler he has expensive tastes and i just just your tower or the other he he he enjoys the the salmon and the french fries he is a huge fan of their sort of cranberry walnut bread and just to drive home so this is not normal for cabinet secretaries i think for any of us who have spent time covering cabinet secretaries or even like been around dc like one of the weird weird things happens in dc i've seen elena kagan waiting in line at trader joe's once which was a very exciting celebrity sighting when i covered kathleen civilias when she was aj secretary she might have one person with her when the obamacare debate was heated but it is not typical for cabinet secretaries to go around with significant details at a certainly not typical to use iran's to get to dinner i think that's probably pretty clear but it is very unusual to hear a cabinet secretary who will not allow note taking for example in in their office or requires an escort at all times as just are not typical behaviors one expects from people who are leading.
