"Is a happy medium, I believe with the ball with picture usage with everything. So swinging from one extreme to another, that's not the long-term solution that I'd like to see. Yeah, it's speaking. The ball is baking. You're baking a microchip of mixed my metaphors. It's not like making sauce, right? There's a precision to this and you can't just course correct later. It might still taste good, but you should view it like baking. You have to measure. Do it by weight, you know? How do you not test the? How are you not like drag? You know, that's pretty important. We should test that. It just seems, I don't know. It just seems pretty obvious, and it's happened enough times at this point where I'm like, it's still obvious. Isn't it more obvious now? Yeah. I've heard differing things like the league saying we did test the drag team saying they didn't test the drag. If they did test it, maybe they didn't test it sufficiently or accurately because they didn't say that they set out to increase the drag and yet that seems to have been what has happened. So anyway, I meant to mention AJ Pollock was another one of the walking wounded White Sox, although he is back now, I believe, but he had a hamstring strain as well. So anyway, we talked so much about their bullpen and how deep it was, right? And they felt comfortable trading away, Craig kimbrell, and now I don't want to say that the bullpen is Finn, but without kimberle without Kelly with copic starting that doesn't appear to be. As much of an area of strength as it once seemed to be. Anyway, we already talked about the White Sox. Just left out an injury or two there. Just wanted to ask, what does a game like angel Hernandez's game on Sunday? On national TV, Sunday Night baseball becomes the punching bag for all of baseball's fans who are watching this broadcast. We are, of course, generally anti robo ump. But what does this do to your resolve when it comes to that to have an umpire make a spectacle of himself and this was not the worst umpired game ever and I think there is a bit of confirmation bias when it comes to one of the notorious umpires who granted maybe they are notorious for a reason. If we know their names. Yeah, it's not entirely unfounded. And yet I think when we see that it is one of these umpires whose names everyone knows, maybe we read their calls a little less charitably than we would otherwise. But granted, it was bad. It was bad. According to the umpire scorecard, he had an 88% overall accuracy in overall consistency, the average is 94%. He missed a lot of calls and missed some impactful calls as well. It's funny. The one that prompted Khaled schwarber to have a kind of cathartic, I think, for everyone. At the plate and meltdown. Big feelings. Get ejected. That was good. He kept it nice and concise, but he certainly got his feelings and thoughts out there. He had to say, and then he walked out and I think everyone watching that game kind of felt like Kyle schwarber did in that moment. But it's interesting because often there will be a lot of inaccuracies, but they won't necessarily be skewed toward one team or the other. In this case, according to the ump scorecard, the calls let themselves to the brewers to the tune of .77 runs and the brewers won this game went to nothing. Now, you can't necessarily say that that was all angel Hernandez and it's not like you can just add up all of those little midi impacts of the missed calls and oh, that's how the brewer scored their one run. No, but when it was this close, I think that makes it even more visible. So when a game like that comes along, that's like exhibit a for everyone who's like robo umps now. Do you have a response to that or do you just kind of have to hand it to them? Like, yep, okay, not a great look for the human umpires game that we know and love. I mean, that can be true and I can still not like robo ups. Let's show you how. And you tell me if this is just me being stubborn. I mean, I think that what this underscores to me is that there needs to be a better mechanism of accountability within the umpire ranks because while the way that we are seeing his sort of questionable work performance manifest is in something that could be alleviated by the robo. Like the bigger problem here is that it just seems like we are not culling the ranks of umpires with sort of the urgency that we may be need to. And I know that this has become sort of a silly argument on the part of those who are like, well, doesn't this mean the umpire union is too strong? And it's like, no, it just means that you need a process by which to remove them. It doesn't mean that they can't be fired. And it's weird to be like, fire him. I don't know, angel, Hernandez, and like it's a baseball game. So I do feel kind of weird being like, eh, I fire the guy. But, you know, this is like a documented pattern of him just blowing it in really big spots and doing it with enough consistency that I think that it merits at the very least further training, but I think that this is the sort of thing that the league and the empire's union need to get together on because it doesn't benefit anyone. It doesn't work to the benefit of umpires to have guys like Hernandez who are so bad in such big moments. And I think that you're right that there is sort of a confirmation bias there and that our understanding of just how bad he is might be a little bit disproportionate to the actual gravity of these calls, but you don't have to fix this with tech you just need to fix it with better umpires. And we have them. It's not as if every umpire is this way. So no, I don't think it means we need robo umps. We just need to be able to sort of keep the line moving a little bit when it comes to new and better trained umpires to many of whom are sitting in the miners sort of waiting for that call up to the big leagues. So yeah, it's interesting because we want enough leeway that you can have catchers who distinguish themselves via their skill. And a couple of good framers in this game too, right? I mean, you had Omar narvaez, who was one of the best framers last season, and you had JT real Muto, who also was up there the brewers and Phillies were toward the top 5 framing teams in 2021. So I guess we could say, well, how much of this was angel Hernandez screwing up?.

"And so he had surgery and he was done for the year and maybe he'll be back to full strength next year, but sucks for Michael conforto, obviously, because as we discussed, he did turn down a big extension offer from the Met's previously and also turned down the qualifying offer from the mets. So that's unfortunate. I mean, that happens at times. That's why sometimes certainty is important. I mean, we talk all the time about how often these long-term contracts can be team friendly, but there are those cases of players who that team friendliness. I mean, the teams can assume the risk that something might happen to a particular player because they have a whole lot of other players and a lot of money, but players it's just a sample of one. It's just those players. And so often they bet on themselves and it works out just fine for them, but every now and then you suffer an unfortunately timed injury. And you end up maybe missing out on a ton of money, which isn't to say that he couldn't come back and get a bigger deal down the road, but right now, I don't know, either he is shaking his fist at the universe or kicking himself for just generally lamenting the way that things work sometimes or maybe he is very philosophical about the whole thing and it doesn't bother him all that much and he's not going to be out on the street or anything, but yeah, not fortuitous timing for Michael. Yeah, it's one of those things where we kind of thought he would that he might end up taking like a pillow contract next year and now he really will be. Yeah. So that's too bad. It's just you feel bad for the guy. It's one of those things that with the benefit of hindsight he would just be he'd just be a rehabbing met and what's newsworthy about that really. Might not even talk about it. Yeah. Although the mets are off to a great start. So far this season. And otherwise, but in better, we're encouraging news about an outfielder. I guess bellies back? I don't know if yelling is back yet, but belly seems to be back, right? Cody Bellinger is hitting a one 49 WRC plus thus far through 16 games. He is hitting the ball hard. He is in the 91st percentile when it comes to hard hit rate. He seems to be catching up to some pitches that he would not have caught up to last year and, you know, there was a lot of concern about him coming off of the disastrous last season. He had so many injuries that it wasn't clear whether the injuries were responsible or not, and then he kind of retooled his swing again and in spring training, he struck out a ton, and there were more fears, but the Dodgers kind of bet on him when they traded AJ Pollock and committed to Bellinger and Gavin Lux, who's also been great thus far the Dodgers. I think are tied for the mets in run scored so far this season among the league leaders in offense. And Bellinger's been a big part of that. So it's still a smallish sample I don't want to declare him back to MVP form necessarily. He still striking out a ton and probably will continue to do that. But he has hit in the ball parter and he's overall been very productive. So that is encouraging news. Yeah, I think that we have seen sort of fits and starts from him in the last, I don't know, two, three years where we're like, oh, everything is gonna be fine and then it kind of plummets. So there is precedent for this being a short lived return to form, but it has seemed to be a good one so far, and that's pretty encouraging from a guy who notched like just, it's not, it's almost unbelievable how bad he was last year and granted he was hurt and so he missed a ton of time. Like he only played 95 games. I think I'm looking now 350 plate appearances. So he clearly, you know, he was injured and then he appeared to be at times compromised when he even was on the field, but like a 48 WRC plus. I mean, we talked in the off season. I think the conclusion that we reached is that they wouldn't do it, but we felt the need to entertain the question is Cody Bellinger and non tender candidate. Yeah. And, you know, he clearly wasn't, but we had a pretty decent sense of what he was likely to make an arbitration even with the down year. And you know, this is another place where the Dodgers are the Dodgers, and they are able to press an advantage. See, this is the advantage that everyone in baseball should try to press, right? Is the money advantage? What fund that would be? We would be over the moon if everyone was like, no, I'll just spend more than you did. That sounds great. But like, you know, a lot of teams faced with Cody Bellinger's production in a potential $17 million arbitration deal with just like move on. And do other stuff in the Dodgers are like, it's just money. So far, they are being rewarded for that foresight. Will he continue? But it's pretty nice so far. Yeah, and as for jelly, Christian Yelich of the brewers, I don't know what to make of him anymore, because on the one hand, he's been dealing with various injuries. He had the knee injury and the surgery, which was pretty serious. It seemed to coincide with him no longer being in otherworldly player and just going back to basically being a league average hitter more or less. And then he had back injuries and kind of like a chronic recurring back issue and that's something that concerns me for a player. I mean, you go back to Don Mattingly there are lots of examples of hitters who have had back issues that have just sapped their power pretty much permanently..

"That has bets. Seger both turner's and we'll smooth. Oh gosh i don't know man. Are they going to be able to sort it out. But i think it is a testament to just how tough out he has been in how productive he's been at the plate and how frayed we are of aj pollock postseason performance. Which has been not good until this point. So you know. It's funny how we get. Obsessed over small sample says is when it comes to talk tober. Somebody and i can't remember who it was. It was undoubtedly mutual friend of ours. You last night was tweeting about their concern with intentionally walking pollick ahead of the pitcher as if as if that was a bad decision last night like pitching. Aj pollock because of his postseason. Like did you look at ancient poets season like the guy had a nine hundred opie esl unbelievable year right and so because he wasn't quite as hot over the last two weeks in the season. You're really telling me you'd rather pitch to him in a key situation in the first inning rather than getting the the largely free passage of getting to the pitcher and i get burned him in the end right right coolio ria schizo base hit whatever. There's nothing you can do about that point but to me. That was a no brainer decision. A meaningful politics struggles. i mean. That's that's a bona fide major league hitter. That's a well above average major league hitter. Who sitting in the eighth spot. So i can't remember who was was diving into recency bias. But it was. It was like wait a second. Like what are we doing here. Come on i met up. Yeah i think your reaction is the right one. I also can appreciate how with pollock being slowed by the hamstring injury. And his again. I i am not encouraging anyone to get overly fuss about postseason plate appearances. I don't think they really have any correlation your tier. I will say he has hit one. Sixty seven to twenty four two zero four and fifty postseason plate appearances for los angeles prior to this year. And i think that when you go over thirteen with eleven strikeouts in two thousand nineteen people are gonna say. Oh gosh the hamstring. It's just gonna compound into his usual postseason woes. We're very inclined to believe in haunting in october my season the month so this series is now knotted up one to one. It'll go back to los angeles. It's sort of interesting. I love it when the lds is this. So you're getting a fresh three-game series right. It's like everything is new except that you have to carry over your fatigue from the first two games and if you're the giants you have to deal with max scherzer so that ask. Although scherzer's last three starts have been great again. Like yes he's run into recently buys on here right so i maybe maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's something. I mean really. He wasn't sharp. I mean i thought i thought doctored the right the right thing and getting when he got him in the in the wildcard game as frustrated as max may have been. It wasn't the test matters. Yeah he was. He was certainly laboring and i. I'm always surprised by how hard we are in managers when they are over what we deemed to be overly aggressive in the wild card. And i appreciate you know feeling nervous that you're going to burn arms for future series. Were that all things being equal. You just might want to stick with sherzer but it's just you know you can't worry about future use problems right. Sure you doesn't exist. If you don't get out of that camp so the the steven goldman just love dropping. The casey stengel one right about. Why save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow it might rain ran. I think you've seen that like in the evolution. I've been thinking about this a lot. I realize it's not the national league surge. We're talking about but like tony. Larussa has this tremendous and well-earned reputation as being an excellent bullpen manager. You're the last pennant. He won in that championship series. His relievers recorded more outs. Starters almost started the trend of what we've seen and yet we've seen managers be far more aggressive than him in this postseason and the ones that you feel like you have the most. You'll confidence in making the right decision..

"Was expected to resume baseball activities on sunday. The veteran outfielder will be eligible to come off the injured list during the astros next series against the angels but a specific timetable for his return has yet to be set out there publicly so once again he could be available as soon as the next couple of days to come off the injured list. But i'm unsure if we're going to see him right away as once again branly was one of the top hitter's and all of baseball for the first. Few months of the season began to struggle and now is dealing with some knee issues for the dodgers. Cody bellinger. he was originally scheduled to start. Saturday's game in cincinnati. But manager dave roberts opted instead to continue to rest. The outfielder bellinger wanting to roberts has a non-displaced rib fracture stemming from a collision with gavin lux in left center field during a series against the diamondbacks earlier in the week. He was also not in the lineup on sunday so bellinger once again now dealing with some issues to his ribs as he is trying to figure things out offensively for the dodgers and you also have. Aj pollock his right hamstring strain. He is scheduled to play in simulated games on monday. Back in arizona. Dave roberts said the plan is to activate him following the club's road series against the rockies which ends on thursday so aj pollock could be back with the dodgers in the big league club this upcoming weekend and that would be a nice site for them as they look to win the national league west still trailing the giants here at this moment. Wander franko of the race. He's dealing with a right hamstring straight. He is scheduled to take part in a full pre-game workout on monday. And it seems possible that he will be activated from the injured lists soon after he is first eligible to return on tuesday so the race holding out hope that he will be back on tuesday but obviously a lot of that plays off of how his full pre-game workout routine comes together and how he bounces back after that workout if he will be back in the lineup as soon as tuesday. Or if we're gonna have to wait till a little bit later on in the week. Shane bieber for the indians bieber. Made a rehab start his second as he is coming back from a right shoulder strain for double a akron. on sunday. He allowed three runs in three and a third innings. Throwing just fifty seven pitches but overall there was good news. Coming out of that outing as it does seem that everything in the shoulder continues to be. Okay we'll see if bieber makes another start here for the big league club before the end of the year. Or if they just opt to transition into the off season next year for shane bieber for the cincinnati reds jesse winker winker was placed back on the ten day injured list on saturday with these same intercostal strain that kept him out for more than a month before he returned friday so bad news for reds fans out there. One of their top offensive players. Winker came off the injured list and was put right-back on the i l. with that same injury so clearly. He was not ready to return to action. And this is a big blow as they're making a playoff bush they now trail the saint louis cardinals for that second national league wildcard spot and with castellanos and winker being their top two offensive weapons. It makes everything much more difficult for them. In this playoff bush the last couple of weeks. The reds also placed shogo akiyama on the ten day on saturday with a right hamstring strain. So a couple of injuries the injury bug hitting the reds hard here over the weekend and what certainly is bad news for reds fans. The last injury to discuss with you guys chris. Basset of the oakland as he had a right fray show fracture he will throw another bullpen session on monday. Of course bassett being hit in the head with a line drive earlier this year manager bob. Melvin said that bassett through around thirty pitches in a simulated game on september eighteenth and came out feeling good. So they're going to take things slow he's going to go through another bullpen potentially another simulated game before he returns to the mount as the as still on the outside looking in for that american league wildcard game and acid would certainly be a welcomed return for these last couple of weeks transitioning now to some of the other big news across major league baseball. I'm sure you guys have seen the video by now. But if you haven't manny machado and fernando tattooists junior had to be separated after a shouting match the dugout during a padres loss to the cardinals. The padres blue in eighth inning lead against the cardinal saturday night to full three games back in the wild card and some of the frustration began to boil over between their two biggest stars. Tat thiessen machado. There's video of it out. There online out there on twitter you guys can check that out and you can hear. Essentially what was being said. Back and forth machado basically telling tattoos it's not blanco. 'bout you an expletive being thrown in there and padres manager. Jason taylor was ejected earlier. that day. Home plate up phil. Cozy did not like what was going on tattoos or the padres didn't like what was going on with cozy and obviously tensions within the roster understandable padres continue to struggle they continue to fade and. This was a team prior to the season or the over under was right around one hundred games it was supposed to be san diego and l. La go at it for that national league west crowned. Instead it's been san diego or l. a. and san francisco that have been battling it out for first place San diego has now lost. Seven of their last nine has gone five and ten in the month of september. Twenty three and thirty two overall for the second half of the season they once led the national league wild car to get. It looked like a runaway. It'd be san diego and la even with the giants winning the national league west and now they're odds to make the postseason are down into the single digits depending on what type of algorithm or what source you guys are looking at but tattoos and machado going at it. It certainly looked like machado was showing some leadership in the situation he could see the status was being a little bit selfish. Based on an outsider's perspective make it really all about him and machado wanted to let him know. It's not about him. This is about the team right now. Everyone is struggling..

LA Dodgers Beat Padres in the Longest MLB Game of the Year
"The dodgers held the padres hitless from the sixth to the fourteenth inning. Basically a nine inning. No hitter ramona. And the game had everything else. Besides though hitter and everything i mean i like i feel like i need a day off to recover from that like i literally watching a lot of the game then i was like you know what i gotta get my workout in. I'm gonna go for a swim. And i'm gonna try to come back. It'll it'll you know. I'll come back for the ending and then it was another two hours. After that i went for all workout swim and came back was still going like that. Even the last two innings were ridiculous. Weird things happened. So many yeah. Aj pollock was the hero again. this is how. Aj basically ended it in the sixteenth inning. At one o'clock in the morning to canada's appalled deep center the dodgers actually had taken the lead in the top of the fifteenth. Fernando with the weirdest homerun. You may see all year. Hit the ball to right field. Chris taylor leapt up to catch it off his glove and went out for a home run. That tied the game three and then. Aj wins at five three. Same two teams tonight in san diego max scherzer on the mound for the dodgers as they go for the sweep and the padres are on life support now. If the season ended today they'd be completely out of the play offs and they still have to play with in the remaining thirty five games left momo the giants ten times

"The san diego padres in all these at-bats are you ready. You sit sitting. You have to be laid down. Don't sit down because it might be too much excitement. They were four for fifty to the padres had four hits in fifty two at-bats in this game there were thirty. Four strikeouts and fourteen hits. That's modern baseball. That's baseball in two thousand twenty one. But i'll get it a good part. It was in the fit in the fifteenth inning The the dodgers went ahead with two runs in the bottom of the fifteenth. Who do you think on homer. I'll give you three guesses as my mother would say an and the first two. Don't count of course it was the kid. Of course it was fernando. Totti's junior a two run jack. The tied up in the bottom of the fifteen. I love this when you go extra innings and the visiting team scores in the top team goes back ties it up and we got another game talk about that later on and then in the bottom of the of the sixteen. Aj pollock of the top it. Sixty aj pollock kits went out. And the dodgers prevail. Five to three There was a lot of baseball boss by what you look at this line score. Okay and again it just. It's like a buffet table okay. There were no runs scored between the ninth and the fourteenth through the fourteenth inning. Nothing with starting off. Every single inning started with with a runner on second base and the thing is why the dodgers grinding away because they have to keep winning these games because the giants refuse to lose and and pollock who was supposed to be such a big pickup for them before long before they ever got mookie. Betts finally wins the game for them. Oh my god it's it's i. I am sorry. I went to bed on it. Because what a fun game and yet of course. Then the the Inevitable guys who went over seven in this game yeah mcelwain offers end the and the i mean even even even tatty. He strike out four times in the gas. You know. I mean it's when you get when you get numbers this we're baseball's fun in number six. You get a game for example where the padres can go ten innings without a hit ten and longer than a game. They go an inning longer than a normal game. Don't get hit these strikes out. Four times still has has has a huge hit. Tie it up when you when you get into those extra innings. It's the magnitude of the extra innings that put the normal game in perspective. You know normally you get three or four at bats and that's it this time. Get seven or eight shots at it. It's what baseball is. It's what's based makes baseball fun to talk about. But one number. I would ask you bob and i bet you can't give it to me. How many people were left in the stands now in the sixteenth. Oh i don't know if you ever get. There is a fatigue factor. I'm looking at the standards and politics and it looks like there. Were some still to people there. And by the way mitch. This was a pitcher stool through yes nine innings bueller against sell. It was one one one to one and then it turns into war and peace. And it's tyler knows this he's dodger's fan. I follow the dodgers very closely. They're playing great. Okay the dodgers are playing great and they still can't get any closer right now than three games on the san francisco. John's dodgers intentionally walked eight padres. Another number intentionally guys in a game still want it by the league ran mitch. The dodgers had ten pitchers the padras at nine pitchers. Okay and it's just about every one of them. It's great last night. It just became one of those stories. Because i had to look twice when i woke up this morning and i said holy crap. Did they play a sixteen game. Would you say bob. It's the first game longer thirteen any. Nec's yes since since in the last two years since we went to the second base coming back with the day game today by any chance. Are they thursday sometimes day game. Talk amongst yourselves. I think tyler would. I wanted to ask tyler fee. Stayed up in washington the dodger fan and tyler up past my bedtime. Now it's just like it's got the rock and he's got the rockies at night. But no i. I went to sleep mitch. Mike pitchers duel bueller and snow. They were going back and forth. So i i kind of tuned out there which tyler assures her against darvish dot. The pitching studs sure was one of the few pictures they didn't use correct. But it's it's. I'm telling you if you're the dodgers right now and they want to win every game. Obviously okay but beulah out of there and the seventh inning that they've got to win games. I have a parting shot today. About how if you're one of the powerhouses you better win your division this year because people keep forgetting when they say oh. They're going for the wild card. They're going wild. Cards are one game seasons and and so the dodgers who again nobody saw the giants coming the padres guys. Is there a bigger disappointment in the sport this year than the santiago padres. They've they might be the gold silver and bronze manolis for disappointing teams. Unless you want to throw in the minnesota twins. I would welcome to give them the honor but it was awful matched against expectations. Yeah all the money they spent mitch and all the guys they brought in. Yeah there was a lawful. Eight games over five hundred. Yeah there's no question but the sudden mitch. There three games behind cincinnati for the second wildcard in the national league. There one game ahead of the cardinals who just never quite go away quietly have started to play better. Oh i'm tony. Some the policies are a huge disappointment. Because can you think of this pop. They've really had a cheese. Was out okay. But to not the reason they're playing the way they've been playing lately they've just been a catastrophic disappointment. It's just all around pitcher Pitching severe problems with pitching to the point where moscow was the only one left and you start with that but but they are. It's you can't exaggerate. How much hype. There was about them an off spending the money. They're going forward. Everything's great you know. And no it hasn't worked out. And they and they have the misfortune of being in in that division. You know the take the record and put it in the nfl east. And they're battling for first place their game behind outland. Instead of fifteen games behind san francisco we can always play that game in baseball divisions at the if they missed the playoffs. Guys i'm telling you. Aj prell is going to have some split into two ship in san diego because they were at all in win now chaim and again. We talked about this the other day. Mitch what were we talking about. All of april. The dodgers the padres. Oh good there's another dodgers padres series. Having having said all that mike their battle now maybe more with cincinnati than anybody else a hundred percent if they edge. Yeah and the cardinals but they've got they've got a few games in the cardinals But if they edge out cincinnati and they get into that wildcard spot. And then as you point out one game you know. This is what baseball is going to be. You can go from being on the lip of of getting. Everybody fired too. You know making it in to the wildcard by by the skin of your teeth winning.

"Reporter and producer brand. Be dot com and sarah was thinking about you and your mom last night watching that giants and mets game playing out the mets getting their guts ripped out and the seventh inning taiwan walker throwing a water bottle. He obviously unhappy the mets. Are you know this is a critical time for them. The giants continuing to play well. What was the date. What's the dynamic when a game like that is going on between you being a mets fan in your mom being a big giants fan. Well i have to say we were at the game last night so That dynamic was playing out in our section. My mother is she is such an incredible fan. She was so stressed. Out in that ninth inning. All i wanted was for the giants to win. Because i did not want her to be upset. I mean you know. This was their first game. My parents first game since september. Twenty nineteen we went to a marlins mets game back then but we hadn't gotten to a game at any point yet. This year is the first time. I was able to get some great tickets. We went and all. I want for my mom to see her team. Which is the best team in baseball winning game. That is all. I wanted as we walked into city field and she was so stressed out. When jake mcgee walked brandon nimmo. I have never seen her slap her thighs so hard. She was so stressed out and after the game she kept apologizing for how emotional she wasn't. I said no. This is amazing. This is what baseball is about bringing out those emotions so everything you are imagining was happening in the stands at city bill boss night Boy boy what fun. Yeah what on that must have been. What is your mom's passion all right. Let's play the numbers game number. Three so number. Three is five thirty so speaking of the giants brandon crawford. You know we saw in person Last night and we talked about him. You and i think a couple weeks ago. And i wanted to check in on a stat that i mentioned then and smother stuck with his season so he continues to have. This incredible season. Didn't merit taking out. I'll walk there. I'm not so sure but regardless brandon proper is going to get mvp votes. He is having a season like any season he's ever had in his career so to that point he's slugging five thirty. He entered the twenty twenty one season with a three ninety two career. Slugging percentage that is very very different than the season. He is having this year and only three players in ale. An nl history have slugged. Five hundred or better. In season at age thirty four older after entering the year with a career slugging percentage under four hundred so he is on pace to do that. He's been up there pretty much all year. And if you take a look at what he's doing. I mean it sounds so simple right. But he's hitting the ball really hard much harder than he's ever done under sokha's tracking and he is a career low ground ball percentage so it just seems like the giants have really unlock. this idea. You know swing a little bit up more and hit the ball harder and it's going to end up a whole a lot better for him so number two number two. I don't even know which number two pick for this game last night. This padres dodgers game which came home and watch that but there were five scoreless innings in that game. So you asked me about this this morning. Five innings neither team scored in the extra innings without runner on second. Obviously we had not seen a game even close to this long under those rules. The prior longest game was thirteen innings. There'd been two games. The went thirteen this year. Two games a went thirteen last year. This team went sixteen innings for anybody who was asleep. Like you probably should have been during this game so before last night. The most scoreless completing so the top and the bottom of the inning in extras. That had happened under these roles was three and that was a game on august. Seventh twenty twenty between the astros. And the as i remember watching this game. It was early under the new roles. Now remember thinking. How is nobody scoring here. So in the tenth eleventh and twelfth ending of that game neither team scored and then the thirteenth they both scored in the as walked it off. That was the only time that there had been even more than two complete scoreless innings at any point under these roles and of course we got five last night so just completely in not what we're used to under these roles. We hadn't seen the sixteen th inning since september. Twenty four twenty nineteen. There were actually two games. That went that long on that day but obviously that was before there was a run around second number one so number one is five twenty one and that's what. Aj pollock has slugging this year. I don't even know again if that's the best number to call out here. But you mentioned to me having a really underrated season. And he is so. I just wanted to talk about everything that he's Doing this year so he's slugged five sixty six last year and i think we started to see the beginnings of the player. He's looks a like this year but he's never score a never slugged even above five hundred any season of his career even when he got. Mvp votes back in thousand fifteen. That was four ninety eight slugging. He at three fifteen this year. But i would say that this season. He's having his most similar to that he he was fourteenth. Mvp it wasn't like he was getting serious consideration. He won't necessarily this year either but everything that he's doing on that doger's team that has at times really struggle. I think that he's been sort of a bit of a constant there. And i always look at stuff. Like how hard are you hitting. The ball is four percent hard hit rate so almost half the time This season he is making at least ninety five mile in our exit lost contact. He's never been even close to that in his career. So kind of similar to crawford. He just seems to have unlock completely different. And by the way also at age thirty four so really cool to see that especially from guy like pollock who had so many injuries and things that sort of hampered his season's over the last handful of years. It's it's really great to see him thriving for that team. That has needed some offense. with cody. bellinger not plan grand. Mookie betts than her and also not that great this year. So it's good to see that coming from maybe a little bit more unexpected source so i watched The first couple of innings of the dodgers and padres last night. But then i did go to bed. And i wound up waking up at four forty five Which is not long after the completion. That game you were up and watching that whole game after getting back in city field. Yup yup had some late second dinner after the nachos in the stands has had some Additional food when we got back and watching that game. It was pretty crazy. I mean i remember looking up. The out of town scoreboard and being kind of bummed. There was only one ten o'clock game last night. So i wasn't going to get to watch a lot of baseball other than the baseball that i saw in front of me which is of course the best way to take it in and then that game ended up giving all of us plenty of baseball even with the one ten piece start. It's awesome right sarah. Talk to you next week. Hoster bleacher tweets already buster bleacher tweets for thursday. We've got louis adia weiss at addio underscore lewis zero zero lewis rates and beyond the fourteen strikeout game wednesday is robbie ray legit contender.
