"Me that I'm wrong. And so I think that's a pretty good test to put yourself through before you finish a column. Is this fair? Is it going to be well received by the person or people I'm writing about? I don't consider that nearly as much as is this fair. Could I defend it if I'm forced to defend it? But like way back in the day, you were like, you're a fireball. Well, I can remember Billy Donovan picking up the phone and calling. And he didn't like something that I'd written. I think it was, I wrote that Billy Donovan because I had been told this by a lot of people. I had more or less invented the elite camp. You know, by hiring coaches like grassroots coaches to come work the camp at Florida with the understanding being you bring your players, bring your three blessed players with you, use the money I'm paying you to work our camp to pay for your campers, your best players to come be campers at the camp. Like that became a very common thing everybody was doing it. But I was told I wanted to write about it and everybody was like, yeah, Billy invented that. That Billy's the one that really figured that out. How to do that. And he didn't like that it sort of put him out there in that light. I've had Bill self call about a column one time that he was totally cool, obviously. Like, bill's the type. You know, he'll end the conversation with you by saying, hey, listen, I'm not gonna be mad about what you wrote, even if I don't like it because I know you'll write something good next time or sometime. Like it all balances out. I'm fine. He would never get mad about it. But like I've taken that call before. John calipari had taken the call before. The wildest one was Bobby Gonzalez when he was at seat haw. That got and I'm not trying to pile on body. But that was the one. That was the single wildest conversation. I ever had with a coach about something that I'd written. Like we were yelling at each other, cussing at each other type of thing. He's now a scout. I don't know who he works with, but I'm pretty sure he's a scout. Bobby Gonzalez, man. Yeah. From another era. You want to get out of here. I do want to get out of here. You got Instagram, we also go look at, you know? Yeah. But what I am also going to do, honestly, is like text some people that I know who work in television. I really want to get an answer to the best that we can get an answer like could a nothing but power conference basketball tournament. Be more profitable. Than the way we're doing our end of the season basketball turn it right now. So I'm going to do some real reaching out on that and we'll see where we get. In the meantime, shouts to Devin Downey. "Was really like, you know, expressed expressed disappointment or just, you know, it was kind of coming at you for something you wrote something you said. It's been a while because I don't do that as often as I used to do it. When I first got this job, I was just a writer. When I signed the contract with CBS in 2006, it was to write columns, period. That's all I was going to do. And now I don't do that as often because I have so many other things to do. Television, studio, sideline, you know, time to shine, you know, podcast, ranking teams every morning. I don't write the type of columns that would have people pick up too often anymore, that would have people pick up the phone and call and say, hey, I really, you know, I thought that was out of bounds or I didn't appreciate that. Although I will say this, as I got older, I. Got to a place where I wouldn't just take cheap shots to take them. I don't tweet just cheap shots to take cheap shots at anybody. I see other people in our business do that all the time. I don't do that. I'm not just trying to get off a joke at somebody's expense too often. If I'm going to make a point that I know is going to bother the person I'm writing about, I want to make sure that I can, I want to make sure I can stand up and take that phone call. In fact, if I were because I've done this in the past, before I hit send on a column, to send it to the editors, I go, okay. If I get this phone call, once this thing publishes, am I going to be able to defend every point MA? And it doesn't mean the other person will agree with me, but am I going to be able to say, hey, here's what I'm basing this on. Here's why I wrote what I wrote, said what I said. You don't have to like it, but you're going to have a hard time. Convincing me that I'm wrong. And so I think that's a pretty good test to put yourself through before you finish a column. Is this fair? Is it going to be well received by the person or people I'm writing about? I don't consider that nearly as much as is this fair. Could I defend it if I'm forced to defend it? But like.

"Look for them. Yeah. The daily hunt is on. Yeah. It's over. They don't do them anymore. Then I want your Halsey video, and then a golf lessons video. That's all I do. All day long. You're living a life. That's for sure. Man, oh man. Yeah, hey, if you go pay $1300 for an iPhone, you might as well use it, right? It's the point in having an iPhone. If you're not watching Instagram reels with Kylie Jenner, she's good on there too. Where does must rank on your all time favorite coaches? I love moss. The question is rank them. The problem is you can't start ranking how much you like coaches because the next thing you know, you have Arkansas number one in the top 25 and one. And it's like, oh, it's only because you love months and blah, blah, blah. People are crazy. So must is on the list of coaches I enjoy the most. Absolutely. But there's a lot of guys on that list. There are people in our industry who have jobs like ours, and they like, there are guys they hate and there are guys, they like and there are guys, they really hate. And there's nobody out there that I mean, I don't know that every coach I know likes me, but if you said, who's the coach you can't stand more than any other, like nobody even pops in my head. I'm being sincere. Nobody even pops into my head. I don't, I don't have what I would call a bad relationship from my side, a bad relationship with anybody. I'm confident not every coach would feel that way. Because when you talk for a living, tweet for a living, write columns for all that stuff, you're going to have some people who don't like what you write about them or their teams or their programs at some point. So I'm not saying the feelings back and forth. But I don't personally, there's nobody I don't, like there's nobody, I know people in our industry would be like, I would hate it if that guy wasn't a national championship or if that guy, or I really want that guy to get fired. I just don't think of people in at least coaches in that way. I genuinely don't. You don't have to reveal it. Let's end on this. You don't have to reveal a coach, but what was the last time? And you don't, again, well, it's ranking. So maybe they do find you. Last time a coach came at you and was really like, you know, expressed expressed disappointment or just, you know, it was kind of coming at you for something you wrote something you said. "But we're in total communication all day, every day. We see each other at the golf course. Once a week or something like that. Bob Stewart 66 asks, will Iowa state be a top 25 as team if they land AJ green? Now, I put this question in because it has relevance because AJ green for all we know, we're going to cover this now in case this happens like an hour after we finish, okay? AJ green might go to duke. He got a crystal ball prediction. He visited duke on Wednesday. Joey baker previously believed to be finishing his final season in college, his COVID bonus season with the blue Devils. I was previously announced. It was announced on Wednesday he's going to transfer as a graduate student. So he's not going to play for duke anymore. AJ green previously believed to consider Iowa state as the FrontRunner, his dad is on the staff there. Now, AJ green's a legit dude. He is a very, very good player and one of I think at least 17 athletes named AJ green in the past 40 years. If duke were to get AJ green, that that puts duke top 5 clearly heading into next season. He's that good, former star of northern Iowa. But maybe he doesn't go to duke. Maybe the Joey baker stuff isn't smoke where there's fire. If Iowa state got AJ green, would you put the cyclones in your top 25 and one? I'd look at it. I don't think I don't think I'd get them all the way there. They have really done well in the transfer portal. Me and Boone talked about this earlier in the week. It's wild because Iowa state Pence hated the remember when they hated the transformation. It was going to be the end of college basketball. And now they're going out and taking a couple of Bonnie's. They're in play for AJ green, although when Joey baker transfers and crystal ball start going to AJ green per duke, it seems like it's out of that way, but I don't have any information on this, but you know, I would consider it, I would consider it. I don't know that I'd get them there. I mean, you know, jaren Holmes, a shooting shooting a, AJ green, like that's a pretty good, you know, that's a good place to start your roster. But maybe fall just short of the top 25 and one. Projected NCAA tournament team, maybe short of the preseason top 25 and one. But ultimately, it appears that might be a moot unnecessary conversation because AJ green looks like he's going to be a duke blue devil. Just ask. This next question is ridiculous. Russell asks the question. I actually thought about this. Russell asked the question, if you had to get a face tattoo of one current college basketball coach, who would it be?.

"Away and saying, we're going to sell a basketball tournament, a college basketball tournament to Disney, to Amazon Prime, to Netflix, to CBS, to Fox, and yeah, you're going to lose the Saint Peter's story every once in a while that you get. And the butler story. And the VCU story in the George basin story. But you know what you also lose? A Thursday afternoon game between Boise state and. Richmond. You're not heartbroken about that, are you? With all due respect, obviously. Wow. Now it did richman like that. It just popped into my head. I understand richman's completely, I get what you're saying. Here's one of this thing. The NCA runs the tournament. They're not going to run that. Who are they going to get to run it? Greg, thank you. If I went to a television network and I said, hey, I'm going to give you every SEC school every Big Ten school every ACC school. And every PAC 12 school. And these leagues will be expanded by then. So we're leaving out, we'll take the best of the big 12. We'll get Kansas in one of these leagues, and we'll get, I don't know how it all works. But we'll get, we'll get you a nice round number. I need you to know how it all works. This is still not more appealing. It's certainly not going to make more money. I'm telling you, we got nothing but 13th ranked team in any of these conferences playing a postseason tournament. You are crazy if you don't think you can make more money. You will not. You think they haven't done studies on this, you think. People are not the average consumer has no desire to see mediocre power conference teams play in a national tournament like this. They'd rather see what are you talking about the mediocre power conference teams are better than most of the automatic bids? They draw almost no appeal to the average viewer or as the small school who they know nothing about playing against the big guy actually brings in a casual viewer..

"Would break away and redefine what division one means and think that they could have some sort of NCA tournament that might be 68 teams or 64 teams and you only would get entry through automatic qualifying or at large consideration if you were in this new tier. It's just not as desirable of a television product. And I don't think it's as profitable as a model. So my prediction is that we never get to that point. There's a chance that if we look up in ten years, could the incidentally tournament have some slight modifications to it, yes, but I have had conversations with conference commissioners, people tied to the transformation committee, and this, while it's certainly stands to be a scary prospect and obviously I think it could be one of the dumbest things that they could possibly do is to screw up the insulator tournament, which is one of the most perfect things in American sports. I do think there's enough conversation and enough awareness that if we're going to change what the NCAA and what college sports is, there's a lot of things we need to do with that. But altering how we construct this 68 team field and making any kind of Jurassic changes about who qualifies for and who doesn't would probably be a negative thing. And so I don't find that there's a lot of momentum for that right now, which isn't to say I couldn't get there, perish, but it feels like the appropriate hesitations and conversations that need to be had about not effing with the tournament. They seem to be good with that for now and way more of the attention is focused on what they do with football and how they classify it and on and on and on. Well, the first thing I would say is they have drastically altered the incidentally tournament. A bunch of different times in our lifetimes. So the idea that they wouldn't mess with it again seems to ignore history. Best with it a lot. I understand all of your concerns. And I think I share most of them. The Saint Peter's story is awesome. And if you go the breakaway route, you know, at least in some versions you lose that. By extension, you lose peacock impersonations and who wants to lose peacock impersonations. No one, right? So this is all stuff that needs to be considered. But I'm telling you, it ain't hard for me to imagine..

"Home that dropped from the ten and 5 in the ACC. But if you run the data from the day after that, February 17th through the end of the season, they were the third best team in that stretch. Several weeks. From February, this isn't like from March 17th through the end of the season. February 17th to the end of the season, they were the third best team in the country according to Bart torberg dot com behind only. I believe Kansas and Texas tech. So when you return four starters from a team that was that, plus a team that played for the national title, plus a team that was up double digits at halftime the national title game, I think that's obviously a preseason top ten team. The one, if you wanted to ask a question like that, I think you would ask it about creighton, which we've discussed before. A lot of people have created in the top 5 even now pre season. And that's the team that's just bringing, not just bringing, but largely bringing back a lot of good pieces. They added a heralded transfer. But they bring them back a lot of good pieces from a team that was good, but that finished 50th at Ken paw. Do you really go from 50th at Ken palm to second in the country, bringing back a lot of the good pieces that took you to 50th, came up? Maybe, maybe, but I think it's more reasonable to question is creighton really a top ten team than it is to question is North Carolina really a top ten team because I don't think at least on paper, I don't think you can even question Carolina. Yeah, I agree. It can't be. And they'll get some consideration for preseason number one plenty as well. All right, let's go big picture here. The basketball opinion asks if a breakaway actually occurs, who will be invited. I can't imagine attorney with just power 6 programs, top ten conferences only. What he's getting at here is there's been constant curiosity and recent comments by ACC commissioner Jim Phillips about the idea that football might break away to its own entity down the road and not be so latched to the NCAA, could this eventually mean something more detrimental for the NCAA tournament as we know it. I don't think so. So I guess the question is if a breakaway actually occurs who would be invited to a new NCAA tournament and what would it look like? I'm going to stop the question at the past there because I don't believe that's going to happen. Now, it's obviously something that could happen, but there are a lot of factors to take into account here, so I'll be quick on this and I'll have GP chime in as well. You also have to consider that television when it comes to the men's NCAA tournament specifically, and obviously men's and women's basketball have to abide by similar things. Not identical, but similar things because one, they just had a gender equity review, a major one, and also you have title 9. But there can be obviously slight differences between the two tournaments. CBS and Turner would have the rights to the NCA tournament. It would also have a voice in this. And I don't believe that television would desire a product that got rid of an entity of the tournament field in which 25% of the field or so were schools from outside the power conference structure there. We just had Saint Peter's make the elite 8. And we just had an incidental tournament with a lot of factors contributing to this parish where the ratings were better this year than in many years, even pre-pandemic in the modern era. So much of the selling point of the NCAA tournament is the small guy being able to do that. And it is a major pull for casual sports fans. So this idea that the NCAA and the schools involved in the power of conferences.

"Do you think you think it's obvious? I do not think it's obvious. You know what? I will go Miami. Because Isaiah Wong should be back, nor Chad omier, who's, you know, some belt player of the year, best all around player. He comes in, Nigel pat comes in, I would default to say the Keynes would be in the would be in the four slot there. But man, right now it's certainly, I appreciate questions like this because I haven't done like the deep dive research and by the time I get to ranking all these damn teams in the preseason, I'll have convinced myself of some sort of Echelon in order. But yeah, man, I tell you what though, perish, like I look at the bottom of that league, tech pit, NC state, Boston college, what will Louisville be in pains first year? Clemson, I actually think we'll be better. I do think Clemson will be better. Syracuse, who the hell knows? Florida state you would think should bounce back, but man, oh man, you asked me to go over under 5 and a half incidentally tournament bids in 23 for the ACC. Right now, blindly, I'm just going to tell you under. Like, I think 5, it looks like the ceiling, obviously, things will change by the time we get to next season. But yeah, give me that. I'll go with that Virginia four Miami Virginia three Miami four. I think it's either Miami or Florida state. Four to 6 interesting because if you didn't know anything about last season and you just looked at the roster, you would go, that's the top 25 roster. I mean, they got Caleb mills back, Matthew Cleveland, Jalen warley. They've got Kim Fletcher, they've got Harold at high school prospects and or accomplished college basketball players, but the problem is that they weren't good last season. They were 17 and 14 overall, ten and ten in the ACC. They finished a 105th at Ken pom. So does a team that finished outside the top 100 Kim pom, take that jump, largely by just bringing back a lot of really good high school prospects who didn't make for a good team. I mean, maybe, but I'm not sure. Our buddy John rothstein does have Florida state in his preseason top 25 right now. But that was the one when we were at the final four and he and I were comparing notes, I was surprised he had them because they weren't even really on my radar. They were so bad this past season. They weren't even on my radar. Okay. Keep an eye going forward, obviously a few more roster things to be settled, including the ACC, we'll get to that in a second. All right, local celeb Brett asks, isn't it time to get rid of the rule that forces players to give up their college eligibility in order to be eligible for the NBA draft what he means by that obviously is you have to make that decision before it gets actually time to draft night. There's an NCAA deadline, which is coming up pretty soon. And then a few days after that, there is an actual NBA deadline, which is for all intents and purposes more for every single prospect. International and otherwise. So GP. In essence, should players be able to return to college if they go into the draft and don't get picked. Should they have that option to head on back to school, you know, mid to late June, if not early July. I'll take it a step further. They should be able to come back to school if they get picked. That is taking a step further. How about this? You don't even enter the draft. You just, there's a draft. You're just eligible, yeah. You're eligible, yes. You're draft eligible. And you let franchises, you know, do their homework in advance..

He's compelled, and maybe this isn't narcissism, but he's compelled to explain to you I'm not slipping and they're not really recruiting better than us. They just bought everybody. And we didn't buy anybody. And we still finished second right behind them. Like he was compelled to make it clear to the world because I do think this was intentional. We're not slipping at Alabama. We're not getting out recruited by fellow SEC schools. I'm not getting out recruited by a former assistant of mine. They're spending $30 million on the recruiting class. That's what happened. And so could you see caliper? Like if suddenly. Florida beat them for two 5 star prospects. Could you see Cal saying, listen, you know, there are some schools out there that are throwing around millions of dollars in name image and likeness deals to get recruiting done. And I've never had to do it that way. And we still aren't doing it that way. But maybe we'll have to adjust and adapt. I could see him saying something like that. In fact, he just stopped a few yards short of that a few weeks ago when he was explaining we're getting everybody we want to get. We haven't lost anybody because of name would you like this? And we're doing naming like this better than anybody else. Like that was, that was, you know, if Nick Saban's comments says site were Major League Baseball, like what cow and Cal stepped in a few weeks ago was like double light baseball. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's fair. I'm going to promote pick 6. Cover three podcasts. If you want, if you're a college sports fan, go find them after you listen to this one, obviously. They're going to have this whole thing covered because apparently Jimbo Fisher is literally saying some people think they are God. It's refusing to take Nick Saban's calls. He said, Nick Saban tried to call him he didn't pick up the phone call says, quote, we're done. This is going to dominate the news cycle. On a day where Tiger Woods is playing in a major golf championship, it's kind of wild. But I didn't want to at least not acknowledge the fact that in college sports, there is a feud unfolding unlike a few other issues we've ever seen. They just used to work for saving. It's kind of wild, so anyway, if you want to get more of that, the cover three guys will absolutely have you covered pun intended. But why not dive into this mailbox? We got plenty of good stuff to get here, GP. All right, we took questions from Twitter, and the way we'll do this is alternate back and forth back and forth. And then eventually we'll get to the end and I'll shout out some people and we'll call it a day. So let's start with this question. It comes from sharpie Charlie. Sharpie Charlie. Assuming duke in North Carolina is going to be top four in the ACC. Which goals are going to make up the other two spots. I'll let you take a stab at it first. Good question. Duke and Carolina got to be considered top four. No doubt, I'll have more on duke and a little bit here. I was talking with a few folks recently about the state of the ACC going into next season. Reminder, here are the teams that made the tournament this past season. Miami obviously, Virginia tech's weekday, and Notre-Dame squeaked in. So you had 5 teams get in, duke was the only one that was high level Carolina made the title game, but it was an 8 seat and then Miami Notre-Dame and vo tech were all ten and 11 seats there. Wake forest just barely missed. We'll see if it's like, if Jake laravia returns, which feels, I feel not good. It's not good. Okay, fair enough. He apparently shot it like crazy at the combine and then pulled out of the scrimmages..

It got the core four up there and let's see if I can guess the core for before we get to the questions. This is core four of, is this Memphis basketball lessons? Core four of the grit and grind grizzlies. All right, so that's Tony Allen, zeebo. Right. Give me a hint on the other two. One of them at one time had the most lucrative contract in NBA history. That's got to be Chandler Parsons. No. I know. But didn't you have some sort of absurd contract? He did have a crazy conversation. Oh, yeah, he had a $100 million contract with a bum knee. Yeah. How about this? It was picking between Memphis and Portland, all right? First off, he lives in California, Portland's got Damian Lillard. There's no reason for him to pick Memphis over Portland, all right? None. Whatsoever. It gets time to contract signing time, and they're like, Portland wants to put you through a really intense physical. Memphis doesn't need to. Let's take the Memphis contract. Amazing. $100 million contract never was healthy. His entire time with the grizzlies. Mike Connolly is another one. That's right. He had the most for a moment. My Conley had the most lucrative contract in the history of the NBA. I don't think I can get the fourth. In the future Hall of Famer. Izzy. He's an international player. Oh, Gasol. Mark Gasol. Yeah, there we go. How about this for a market stall story? You might remember Paul Gasol started his career in Memphis. So how is his older brother? Started as he was drafted by the grizzlies, he was rookie of the year. Mark was a teenager. You know, in Memphis. He went to school at Los Angeles. Same school, my oldest and graduated from. And he was a Google Mark Gasol in high school and you'll see. He was not in shape. And I can remember this is when I'm the beat writer for the commercial pill newspaper. And I'd be at like a Memphis practice, you know, and afterward you get into some random conversations with John calipari, somebody else on the staff. And I remember John asking me one day, how much have you seen of Marc Gasol? And I was like, just, you know, not much, but you know, he's obviously like, he averages a lot of points and rebounds, but you know, he doesn't necessarily look the part. And I said, why are you guys what's going on? And they were, they were trying to figure out if he could help them. If he were to walk on at Memphis, Powell would pay for his school, they wouldn't have to put him on scholarship. Like, could he play here ever? And like it was actually debatable. Like you didn't know if he would be a player who could contribute at the high major level. And he goes on to maybe be a future Hall of Famer. It's wild, man. It's wild. By the way, as we do this, we've got intra CBS podcast competition. Cover three podcasts is live because as we speak as we speak and we're gonna do a basketball but I have to at least mention this. "That matters. Most edmund stands to the right of murray in the gun. Three receivers left single wide to the right is. Aj green shotgun snap comes in helmet. High murray throws to the right side intercept. Kevin kugler westwood one on the fan. Aj green never moved. He just of ran into the endzone head never turned and then douglas was there and just grabbed the ball out of the air and had they even just got incomplete. They would kicked the field goal to go to overtime instead. The packers win twenty four twenty one green bay seven and one now. Arizona falls from the ranks of the unbeaten. they're seven and one here is clipped kingsbury. What he saw on what green did or did not do to save throat if he knew the route to run no question. Yeah they brought. The euro is the right place to go. The ball just didn't communicate On some level and we're domino green hasn't been there as career clearly but at this stage in his career that happens. Murray coal in the play wrong beyond him and we just don't know well. There may be a play where it's just the second down first of all There may be a play called the huddle and there also may be just a signal that they have or one. The quarterback sees one on one on the outside. He immediately goes right to that player. So tom brady does that with the evans. He does that with gronk. I would think that. Aaron rodgers does that with the bombay atoms. And you would think that that if that were the andre hopkins out there hopkins by playing their last year with Cuyler probably would understand that when this happens. This is what we're doing. Maybe this has not happened for. Aj green yet in the situation looks to me like aj green running a different play go. Yeah one that doesn't have him involved in it right. So the quarterback most likely either changed. Plant the line of scrimmage or there's an assumption that the play could be change if that matchup is out there the way it is now this is why again. This is why they practiced as much as they do and they meet as much as much as they do so situations like this that when they arise in the middle of a game or at the end of the game. The way this one did. Everybody's on the same page. Is it fair to ask. Because even if you're not the main target the boss still could come your way. Is it possible from what you saw that. He thought they checked a running play. And he's blocking. I think that they may have called a certain play in the huddle that it was going to be a running play. I have to see the formation again just to go over it and it looks to me like he's not expecting although when he comes off the line looks like he's running around doesn't it does..

"Snap comes in helmet. High burry throws to the right side. Kevin kugler would one on the fan that ends things because aj green basically just stopped running and never turned around. And so instead of a possible game winning touchdown pass and catch it. Turns out to be the deciding play in the game. Green bay goes to seven and won. They beat the cardinals. Twenty four twenty one arizona falls from the ranks of the unbeaten. They were Well the idea of them actually going for a perfect season was actually asks to cliff kingsbury to where he's coming in seventeen games and fell and that's the green bay packers who had been kind of tough. Nfc for the last couple of years. So we're focused on the phone. I was just thinking about. Aj green up in the andre hopkins spot and deandre hopkins left the game with a hamstring. So you think because of where he was. He was unfamiliar with the play call ability. I don't know maybe. I mean if you're out there and you're against russell douglas and and you're aj green you gotta expect the ball's coming to you and you're in the end zone one on one with a guy who's basically they picked up the packers picked up off the practice squad from the cardinals that he thought he heard a whistle serious about this because he stopped playing and then he turned around and looked right at the official with his arms out. Or and i'm just throwing this out there. He had the under. Just kidding getting boomer. i'm joking. I'm just kidding. All right because that would have put it show. It would've put it over interesting just sitting. Dickering fixed games. No no no. Here's collar murray. What happened there. Honestly don't know so miscommunication couldn't tell you but you know got to be and i can't find if he spoke. I cannot find. Ag green sound anywhere. So i'm sure he did get his explanation as to what in the hell happened. I mean you are a you. Know a bone of an leave practically a hall of fame wide receiver might be. And you're standing out there and you're going against they nondescript cornerback. Who's probably making it. His pants right now because the game is on the line. And you go out there. And don't think the ball's coming to you certainly look like that. Receivers want the ball all the time and he was just blocking sense. Here is aaron rodgers. he basically says we're winning games. I mean that's kind of how we've been playing this year. We've not been super-efficient at times but come up with some big plays at the right moment. That was one for sure great finish for matlock floors club. It was it was a special moment right there when when we made that pick and just to see the celebration not only on the sidelines..

"The vikings k j. Osborne was actually leading receiver. He had ninety one yards. Receiving touchdown definitely got to keep an eye on. You know he's kind of been that number three wide receiver so far you know the last week against the bengals adding okay game as you know has done good so far. you know. it's definitely somebody to keep an eye on. In case you know jefferson or get hurt. Jefferson had a touchdown in this game. Six receptions sixty five yards dealing also at a touchdown as well Thirty nine yards receiving so. Yeah i mean the onen jefferson. Those guys are gonna start every week as well. I mean jefferson. he's a wide receiver. One or two really hasn't played like that so far. You know still putting up solid numbers so you know jefferson theline. Cook and cousins. I mean those are guys that you want to have any lineups every single week. They put up solid numbers for the most part. And then let's look at the cardinals side so kyla murray has been playing like an mvp candidate as well. He had two picks in this game. However pass for four hundred yards three touchdowns. Yeah he was fantastic in this game. Chase admins james. Caan really didn't do that much on the ground conner. Only at twenty six yards rushing. Edmonds said four six yards rushing. What makes edmonds more valuable. As he's you know involved in the passing game and he was did have twenty nine yards receiving. And the kyle. Oh sorta rushing touchdowns as well yet fantastic performance Rondell more he had a touchdown he was the leading receiver seven receptions one hundred fourteen yards Max williams the tight end four yards receiving christian kirk at sixty five hopkins had fifty four and a touchdown. Aj green had three receptions for forty four yards and a touchdown so does that mean the aj green is going to get more involved in the offense. I don't know we'll have to wait and see but yeah. Those are the search for that game. This game was insane. I mean for the most part carla. Marie you're gonna start every week. The guy's a fantasy monster diop hop as well christian kirk. I mean i. I think he's still a flex option you know. And he was great against the titans to take a little bit of a step back in terms of production in this game and age green. Like i said had a touchdown. This game is a disease. Jay green breakout. I don't know. But i think really you know when it comes to the running back position for the cardinals. I think Not james garner chase. Edmunds is a guy that you're gonna wanna start at like a flex spot. Because he's going to be more involved in the passing game than james connor. I mean so far. None of them really. Have you know dominated the other you know for taking over running back role but yeah i think she. Edmunds is more valuable option. Because of his involvement in the passing game and the other thing i wanna say is so far. The vikings defense has not lived up to my expectations. I thought this defense is going to be so much better with all the additions with guys coming back from injuries and stuff like dad and their defense has been awful has been awful. I already drop them in one of my lease and picked up the cardinals. Defense and cardinals. Defense was awful. I didn't start the cardinals defense. I started the giants defense and the giants defense is really bad this year as well so you know. Some of my predictions really have not been living up to expectations. So you know anything that. I say over the course of these podcasts. If i say anything that does not live up to what i say you know and it ends up being wrong. I want to be call me out for because you know wanted to. For one of these takes. That i have the the ping wrong and the vikings defense has definitely been one of those. Because i like. I said i thought they were gonna be really good and they have been really bad so yeah. That's my thoughts on that game. So let's move on now. Let's go into the cowboys in the chargers so dak prescott had a fantastic game against the bucks last week but in this game against the chargers really was not that good but had that clutch drive at the end Stats for the game. Twenty three to twenty seven two hundred thirty seven yards passing and no touchdowns and a pick. Yeah not that. Good for dako. The cowboys did get the win. Tony pollard was the leading rusher. Thirteen russia's one hundred nine yards and a touchdown at about nineteen point. Zeke sixteen carries seventy one yards and a touchdown so the running game was pretty good for the cowboys and the chargers last year they were not a good running team ago. A good team at stopping the run in that definitely showed again and then. Cd-rom was the leading receiver. Eighty one yards receiving blake german. Thirty seven twenty five thirty one. Twenty six mark. Cooper twenty. Four centric wilson. Twenty shots eighteen. So really not a lot of production in the receiving game. And yeah i i guess the charges are going to get pass there. They were not going against the run. That's really you know why they lost game well also because turnovers and just penalties as well and then on the chargers side of things justin herbert thirty one of forty one. Three hundred thirty eight passing yards one touchdown picks. Yeah those were not good actor. Fifty four yards rushing really has not lived up to his fantasy Expectations early on keenan. Allen was leading receiver hundred eight yards receiving mike williams how to touchdown in this game. Yeah he's been good mike williams. I think he's a guy that you know. If he's healthy..

Really urban meyer might be all by yourself. James meyer. You are all like oh man. Urban doesn't how to coach. And there's that lockenfora report all the players hate them and how many reporters have been waiting to write that report since the day. Meyer was hired. Does he have trevor lawrence. Yes is he going to realize that he should hand the ball off the james robinson more. Yes are they gonna win a lot of games this year. No but he's got the the jon gruden type job security. I think he's going to be fine. I think the jags will keep him for quite some time. If you've never been jacksonville urban and a good spot enjoy it down. They don't know that it's going to be the abject disaster that everybody thinks it certainly hasn't gone well but he has the most important piece he does. And that's it. That's why he went there. Because he had trevor lawrence right and i think they'll be. They might only went five games this year right but in a year or two. We'll be talking playoffs. In jacksonville forgivable division go ahead. We got more okay. I didn't know how much time we have. And i will give you one myself based on something we just talked about. Okay you want a new england one or another arizona. One me another arizona okay. Because i was going to do this. I thought you're strapped for time. We're okay kyla. Murray is going to be the nfl mvp. Did you see that dude yesterday. Insane he's out of this world. He's impossible to tackle. He's extremely hard to sack. He doesn't take big hits. He can run. And he's athletic as any player in the league including lamar jackson and he's got a better arm than lamar can they. Can they win enough games in that division for that to be. The always got to do is win. Get them to the playoffs. And if you go to the playoffs in that division. I think people respected fair enough. I agree all right. Where's your i got to save time for. The bengals would win the afc south. They should petitioned the nfl. They're further south in indianapolis. The colts are bad. The jags are bad. The texans despite what happened yesterday are bad. Titans awful yesterday that divisions terrible rentals are stuck because geography in a division. They shouldn't be what happens if they lose to the jags on thursday night. I'm gonna pull this clip. "But they're pretty good. So here's the thing. It is a concern because not having the proper backfield. Not having proper pieces upfront. No questions with the centers position question. What your line. In general in some spots is could potentially crippling to this offense. Now you bring in staffer for his arm and his ability to be able to deliver downfield and delivered to receivers these guys some pretty good receivers but you gotta keep in mind. The mcveigh offenses that same type of offense. That shanahan runs and in san francisco. Which is you're running zone. Plays ozone plays create spacing and imbalance in your offense so in fact while we are in such a very heavy past league you still have to create the balance of the run you can't diminish or minimize the importance of having a running back even if by committee the importance of their success out of the backfield. If you're able to make stafford one dimensional and what it is that he's bringing to the table. Then you are putting tremendous pressure on this rams defense to be able to keep the point totals low and the games that they're playing and and to think that you can do that all season long and nfc west. It's not realistic to to believe in that. It's too tough of a division to just say that it's not a it's a small speed bump. It's not real big situation. The teams are too good. You talking about the team. That that the san francisco forty niners will have based off of the health. You're talking about things. Seem to be getting a little bit better in seattle and you just added. Aj green with the andre hopkins. You got kenyan. Drake you got some guys and we just talked about kyla. Murray could possibly be a guy that steps into his own. I think this is a big year for kingsbury and cuyler in arizona. So to me. I do think that this could be a big deal for them. And it could actually be the difference being able to be more of a contending team for the division and how that may play out in their in their opportunities to make the playoffs. You guys mentioned all the reasons why i agree with you. This toughest division and football. Which is i'm going with the seahawks and this division because they're coming in the most concrete's into the regular season with the lease questions about the team they know what's going on..

"Like a j green and like gino atkinson to a degree like carlos dunlap. They've re up with before. Why won't you do it with jessie bates. But again i come back to the verbiage. If you're going to claim that somebody is the best safety in the league and if you have paid attention to the bengals on social media. They have done that awesome. Then i believe you have to act like you actually believe those words when you come to the negotiating table. Is he really the best safety in the league. Do you really think he is drastically underrated. Is he really one of the best players in the nfl. If you really believe that and the bengals say they believe that. way. Think that's a fair question and again. I'm the guy that has said. Don't worry about this. it's going to happen. And i still believe it will. I did as paul. This felt like an inevitability right when camp started. Now what do you think. What are the chances and he goes. You know between forty and fifty percent which was a little sobering and i defer to paul. Who is plugged in his anybody. But i do think there's something important here if you're gonna say a guy is the best safety in the league and i know you know social media people are always going to do such a thing to prop up their own guys fine but organizationally that is reflecting with the organization wants to tell you they think why then are you not willing to pay him like he's the best safety in the nfl. And as a franchise. If you're really about winning it is one thing if you go look we just we feel like there's better value in players. Who could rush the passer. Who aren't carl lawson. You could say the same thing. About william jackson third this is a franchise that has paid. Aj green like he's the best wide receiver in the league. This is a franchise that has page atkins like. He's the best interior offensive or defensive lineman in the league. This is a team of paid. Dj retail. i thought he was the best free agent at least defensive lineman in the league going to do all those things. Why aren't you doing that with jessie bates. Now the market does change. The market does evolve. The is going to go up next year. The market has been reset by jamal adams and you can certainly understand historically they don't love to pay a guy the kind of guaranteed money that jamal adams at the same time again. These are exactly the kind of players that you say. You're going to invest in. And this is the player that you say is the best at his position. If that is the organizational message. This player is the best at his position then. There should be no reluctance to make him the highest paid at his position. If you say you're going to be about something and you say this player is something than what you do. Financially should reflect those things especially by the way if we all agree he is. I don't have a list of who the best safety and football is..

"Robot. Dog all right and we're back here on the gsm see fantasy football podcast for the third segment of today's show. You're gonna do a player rankings of the players in the nfc west. Salvi ranking the players. Who i think can have the best season all the way down to the other players. Well the players that are fantasy worthy worthy of you know being drafted. Because i know obviously there's other players but they're not they don't really have fancy value. So let's get right unless we're gonna go from the bottom all the way up to the top. Where thing is going to be the best player so starting off with the player at the bottom of this list. I have christian kirk. I think the problem with christian kirk is you know. I feel like he could be more consistent Definitely is a talented player on this cardinals team but i do feel like he's going to not get as many targets You know now because you bring an aj green. I think the receiving core for the cardinals is going to be really good. They're going to be an aerial attack. so i think that you know. He's he's still going to you know get his. You know his targets. But i i think he's a guy that you know unless you're doing deeper leagues. I don't think he's going to have you know he's not going to be very impactful on anybody's teams and i don't think he's going to put up a lot of big numbers so i have him. I have him last as a right now After that. I have to sean jackson the problem with him. Is you know injuries. If he stay healthy. I mean this rams offense is gonna look really good. I mean you got him as a deep ball threat with cooper cup and robber woods. You know i. I mean that's going to be pretty good offense for the rams and of course now you got stafford so i'm really excited to see what this offense looks like But i would probably say he's lower on this list. Just because i feel like he's again he's not gonna be as impactful just because i think the injuries are going to be a problem for him so i probably stay away from drafting him and i also just don't think he's gonna a a big numbers now again. If he's as healthy he could be insane. But feel like that can be very impactful than gerald everett. I feel like he could be a sleeper first seattle. I think you know the seahawks really. Don't have a number three wide receiver. And i think he kind of be like that third option for the seahawks and the passing game. So i think you could definitely do. Well he is he was a good tight end for the rams. And i definitely think now with russell wilson he be pretty good so he's another player on this list then after that i would probably say is. Aj green. i feel like aj. Green could do very well in this offense. And i know. I've talked about it on the show a couple of times but just imagine what the offense this offense with d. and aj green from a couple years ago when these guys were in their prime diop is still in his prime at aj. Green is kind of you know. He's he's nearing the end of his career. I think I don't know that's just me because he's dealt with injuries the past couple of years but i hope i'm wrong the guy i think he's still he still got some juice left in the tank though. I definitely do believe that. But i feel like he's more towards the end of his career. I hope i'm wrong By saying that. I'm just saying that because of the injuries them but yeah i think he probably the next player on this list he again. If let's say diop gets injured. Knock on wood. That happen you know. Then he'll probably see an increase in targets. I mean maybe it's just you know he's coming back he just could not you know you can find a spot really in the offense with the bengals joe. Borough really did not use them as his favourite target..

A.J. Green keeps future with Bengals up in the air: 'Who knows what is going to happen?'
"Green had a decent game yesterday He after the game was Noncommittal about his future is going to help him with that. Aj thank you. i love you. You're going to be thirty three years old next year. See it's not here not here. I mean this is. This is not something that's franchise should have to wrestle with. I do think you referenced atkins before. I do think one of the most interesting off season questions is do they move on from a guy who played a whopping seven snaps yesterday and they are roughly thirty million dollars to over the next two years. Do they move on tough. How do you not you have to start moving on from old bed players. You're your goal for the next. Three games should be to figure out who you on this roster that you can go with. It's not no atkins gino watkins. It's not going to be jay green next year them. We just we just let go of back in two thousand fifteen. They were good because for years. It seems like that's driven. The strategy gives them rewards player but andrew. Whitworth give your young lineman chance. Give some linebackers chanson and go from that. You have to figure out what you have. At some capacity because of all the whole we just mentioned in the last segment with the new england patriots cling to jeans seconds to about the current state of their team which is not great but would they cling to gino atkins. Because it used to be good a long time ago no or because. They felt like they owed him something with the pittsburgh. Steelers no with the baltimore ravens with lynn. The san francisco forty nine know what. Zack taylor's old teams. Move on move on from expense. Ami did it last year underperforming players. The dolphins were oh and seven and tanking moved on. Yes people what are they taking doing this publicly. Okay there now. Competing there in the playoff hunt. They went toe to toe with the chiefs. Like they're in a better position. I think there's a place in the nfl for jay green. I do on like a two year deal green bay or something. I don't know that there's a place in the nfl for gino acts

A.J. Green's injury on 'subpar' Bengals practice field will cost wide receiver up to two months
"Speaking of injuries unfortunately an M._r._i.. Has revealed that Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver A._J.. Green has torn ligaments in his left. Ankle is according affording to Schefter here. They are likely to sideline green six to eight weeks up really not a good situation and teammate Tyler Boyd questioned the turf. The team was practicing on when green was injured. It was terrible. I couldn't run any routes out there. I'm falling all over the ground man it was it was bad. It was rocks pebbles out there man it was somewhere we should have been just feel like the turf was old. You know it just wasn't we didn't get good traction in and out of her breaks. You know a lot of guys not just me was on the ground but I mean who wasn't up there that long but there's gotTa make a word man. We gotta get it well. The turf was that welcome stadium at the University of Dayton where the bengals are practicing coach you buy this well. I haven't seen the video really in this instance probably not but I will say that you know feel. Surfaces are very very important for player safety. You know whether it's a grass field you know what is the old school latch with Pittsburgh steelers. We practice on hard old school astroturf every day for five years so no you got to look at it but in that instance I think it was a matter of the kind of rolling up on the back of his ankle and that was what I saw caused that particular injury about sure it was the field service problem here in addition to the injury of course which is is paramount is the optics of this and when you have a player who says this sort of perception is reality and then then it's out there and you got players. You might believe this is the case whether the optics to this are awful and this time of year teams are trying to realize their fan N._B._C.'s. I've been a part of that for a number of years. Every team has an operations department and kind of like the offensive line. You'd never talk about the operations department until there's a problem and part of their responsibility is to advance where hotels are safety of the fields whether or not the field deal with safer not now the perception is that it was a problem now e._j.. Green fairness may have gotten hurt it was on their practice field but they're players now think that was a factor and they're at the University of Dayton given rookie head coach. He's trying to establish himself itself and now he has a problem in the locker room because these players are questioning what the organization did and that Operation Staff that you're referring to my signed off on the practices being here the League went to them. They sent a site survey team to inspect the field and that site survey survey team for the Bengals said this field is okay to practicing and maybe they thought it's one practice we can get through now. You've got a situation where you see A._J.. Green get hurt on this play and we can take another look at it right here where he goes up for the past the D._v. lands on his ankle. He's on the turf tears ligaments in his ankle. He's going to be sixty weeks. Think about how much is at stake your now. You have a first year head coach Zack Taylor who's trying to come in and implemented program. They've already lost their first round draft. Pick joyner Williams to a season ending injury. Now you lose your left tackle. You lose your number one wide receiver. They are at a loss there and A._J.. Green himself is going into the last year of his contract so at a time when we're talking about new deals for Michael Thomas in Amari Cooper Julio Jones guess who else was on that list of A._J.. Green so what happens now to his value as argument now that he is going to be out for some period of time and organization standpoint. That's a really difficult position because A._J.. Degrees could say hey. I've done all the right things. I was out there practicing at the university because you wanted me to and now that's going to hurt me and take money out of my own pocket. It could really cause a situation to go awry very quickly and again even if the operations team went through all the protocols the the perception is that this feel wasn't safe and now they have a problem with one of their best players. Yeah I think that team without J. Green if you look at their record versus with huge and so he's a big part of their team. He's going to be missed. This is that there's a fair amount of injury here to start. You know this is not the way not the way you want to get off the ground. No team does last last year he missed time with a toe injury and when he was out of there the offense did not operate the same toddler boys production fell off and everybody thinks talent boy. We'll just emerge as the number one guy and he's a really good wide receiver but the fact that matters A._G.. Green when he's out there makes tyler. Holler bought a better received. John Ross still has not stepped up as the first round draft pick that he was. He says he's ready to do that. Will they need him to do that. They've got some other players Alex Berenson some good young receivers but A._J.. Green is on a level with Julio Jones. He's is that kind of talent and when you Jack Taylor coming into his offense it's hard to get by without somebody that good.
