NFL Week 14 injuries: Christian McCaffrey's new issue, Antonio Gibson out of practice again

"Injuries we paying attention to the bigger buzzkill of the week on the injury or injury front here christian mccaffrey. A third injury now. with the shoulder Following up now also with a quad injury had high ankle sprain. Keep matt. He's he's not gonna play this week hopes are he will be back week. Fifteen or sixteen. But if we have. Mike davis there 'cause they'll lineup versus the panthers rb one this week antonio gibson that looking good got exactly one. Snap against the steelers on monday night before you heard a toe injury we're gonna watch his status heading towards the end of the week. He's out peyton barber on the early down work. Obviously jd mckissic. We'll get the pr action there. The pass catching back. Josh jacobs unlikely to play this week with an ankle issue. You're out devante booker. last week. It didn't work out. I'm not very optimistic about it this week. Either if out to that's a situation to avoid to straightness practices for. Aj brown the study for the titans with an ankle issue. This'll probably be around friday. I'll be looking at the most on practice tomorrow but take out. That's certainly a big blow to receivers out already for carolina. This week have christian mccaffrey. But also without dj more curtis samuel kobe. Nineteen list or both of those guys robby anderson. He's gonna get a ton of targets brandin cooks. We thought he might have had a fifth or sixth. I think it's now six concussion last week when he ended up medical tent. It looks like it's more of a neck injury foot issue. I am optimistic. He played just fuller out. Top targeting group brings one more week before we've probably take him back from that collapsed lung case. Him hill. Jalen hurts madge. Up is the two quarterbacks this week and that is going to be a very unique football game to watch analyst

"And he just said like I was just talking about Scouts of guys who aren't coaches Scouts don't basically he just took a shot at a bunch of scouts or whatever. And so I just kind of want to have the conversation all like why we ask Al sometimes will either mr. Downgrade a player based on what they did in college and out sometimes like look it can be wrong. So the DK Metcalf situation like what did you think about DK Metcalf when he was coming out? First of all, I love I love Rex I work with Rex and we get along great, but that's crazy. So for a couple of reasons number one, and I could even go back to show you where I had them. I think he was my choice. What year is this? The 2019 draft right buck. So I'll give you the exact number here DK Metcalf was my 21st overall player. I compared him to Marius Thomas. That's that's where I had him and he waved the 6660. I think it was sixty or sixty and he was he was the 64th pick. Yeah, okay, because my 21st player was 1/64 pic. So and I had D came back even higher than that earlier in the process, but he still ended up in might as my 21st overall player. Away, a lot of these organizations work at the beginning of the process to scout set the board as you go through the process the coaches come into the mix. Yes, coaches are have more influence after the fact. So this whole notion that after the scouting combine were DK ran a slow three cone and it was stiff that the scouts pulled him down the board as such it's so ridiculous. It's just ridiculous. Cuz most of these organizations are scouts don't have any juice at that point in time. They had him where they were at the beginning of the process after that. You hand it off to your organization. And those are the guys who end up making that decision and I can tell you from first-hand knowledge of talking to some teams about this they had him in a good spot and because of a neck issue had a net had a neck injury the medical personnel pulled him off the board or pulled him down the page. That was a big part of his drop. The other one was the coach has got involved and said, oh he can't run are you can't run the route tree so we can't use him. He's just he's big fast and stiff and this is going to be Bashaud. And 2.0 and it's it's you know, we can't use them. So I would I would push back and say was actually more coaching than it was scouting at that time with his evaluation. So here's the other thing. How can you go all in on a player who wasn't a number one receiver on his own team AJ Brown was the number one receiver at Old myths AJ Brown has been a star in this league too. But AJ Brown was the one who was the go-to player at Ole Miss whenever they needed anything. I think for DK Metcalf. I'm glad you brought up the injury because I think that gets swept under the rug people don't understand how the medical part plays a role in a valuation. I think the other thing that you brought up DK Metcalf still doesn't run the entire route tree you say that DK Metcalf imagine Demaryius Thomas, which I think is a great comparison. I would say that he gave me a little bit of Terrell Owens when Terrell Owens came in the lake twenty. Okay, Matt and David Boston's body. That's who he is. I mean, like he he he's big fast and physical but anyone who looks at him he's dead..

"Six weeks warts leader this mark was shown to be R. K. B. R. S. M. San Francisco these boards later glad you're with us tonight and maybe everyone is just going to be sitting on the couch listening to us on the Alexa for the next two weeks I wonder how minuscule sudden change tonight for sure like there was something happened about two three hours ago and there was there was just a rise in in all of the action I don't mean anything changed in terms of the virus itself for what anybody thinks about it but you have south by southwest followed by the Indian Wells tennis tournament and then today you're starting to see things that involve even just even just small crowds get canceled your you know sales force I know told their whole staff stay home you could see it on the roadways on the way into the city tonight for sure they're just wound not even close to as many cars so I know a lot a lot of people are stay at home and and if that is the case then yeah I don't think we're going to do it here can be R. anytime soon so while word yet on where we were happy to kind of take you through some of the stuff that that's going on and and continue to roll and and hope that should do that with us and maybe bring you something light or a little levity to what is are very troubling situation especially if you forecast to have by looking at what is happening in in some European nations some Asian nations sell thoughts with everybody at this time for sure and we we continue to move forward David Lombardi is gonna join us here in about a half hour he has a phenomenal piece on the athletic and it is unemotional and that's why it's good you if you listen to this show with any regularity you know what I said on Jimmy versus Tom if you heard David Lombardi at all in recent weeks you know where he sets on Jimmy versus Tom by the oracle he wrote has nothing to do with his opinion it has nothing to do with with his hopes or or thoughts on who should be the forty Niners quarterback going forward it is simply a dive into all kinds of analytics and fax that most of us don't even have access to like how many of you out there know what D. V. O. A. stands for I'm betting it is a tiny percentage and I don't even know if I can get a ride I know what it is but I don't know what all this stuff stands for another D. is for defensive but anyway how many of you know what that stuff as well David does any dives in and even shows as best he can metrics for the things that we say but we don't really know how to measure for instance we know what a lot of the responses are in this conversation what Tom Brady he he went down last year well he didn't have anybody to throw to okay so let's factor that in is that actually true so here are some metrics on the targets that the two men had to throw too let's also look at some of these metrics over here these analytics that factor in the abilities of whoever you're throwing the ball too so that all gets thrown into the wash and then you put it on the spin cycle and you spit out facts what emotional facts and for Tom Brady for instance I'll give you just one little headliner before David joins us in twenty five minutes what really stood out to me because I actually went into the article with the goal I already know what my opinion is I wasn't going into the article trying to figure out if I want the forty Niners to keep Jimmy or go get Tom I've already got my well formed opinion on that but what I was looking for was okay what do I say to the guy or girl next to me well we're having a conversation about this in here she says why Tom didn't have a good offense of line and didn't have anyone to throw to all right let's take that into the cookies and let's figure it out two things I found that stood out Hey Tom got better pass protection the Jimmy did this year okay that's one and P. Tom Brady's analytics didn't just fall last year they have fallen for years in a row that covers Cronk that covers at all men that covers all kinds of wonderful receivers and his norm in fact even when he won the darn Super Bowl his his metrics from the moment he lost to Nick Foles and the eagles down down down each time so we can't just look at last year and then check this out here is probably the most under discussed part of this whole thing AJ brown is a receiver for the Titans the Titans of course mentioned in Tom Brady chase off as well I did my prediction last week of where every single team would go with regard to their week one quarterback and I did indeed predicted Tom Brady would be on the Tennessee Titans that's what I'm sticking with as of right now well check this out AJ brown is one of the guys the Tom would be throwing to in such a case do you think any forty niner would react this way what I'm about to tell you do you think any forty nine would react this way if the forty Niners acquired Tom Brady check this quote out AJ brown speaking about Ryan Tannehill and Tom Brady quote of course we would want Ryan back of course I've got chemistry with them already so going into year two I feel like it would just grow more but unfortunately if things don't go as planned and we get Tom Brady or whatever like he wouldn't want to play with Tom Brady he continues I'm just going to be honest he knows how to do it he's won super bowls and I really want to be around him even if I don't play with them I just want to have a conversation with them try to pick his brain and see how he does things but for portion of to give Tom Brady this year that would be insane but regardless of wherever we chat I just want them to kind of hurry up so I can know who my quarterback will be this upcoming year end quote do you think you can get that quote out of any forty niner the Titans went to the AFC championship game with Ryan Tannehill so they should wanna ride or die with him too right yeah they had a lead in that game there were brought away from the Super Bowl shouldn't his receivers wanna ride or die with them I mean it's almost obligatory what he says about Ryan Tannehill I mean he starts out with yeah of course we want line back a chemistry with them it would only grow but the second you get in talking about Brady he's like I let's be honest that would be incredible movie insane I just want to talk to the guy around him or to be near him or feel his breath on my neck could you get any forty niner to say this many answers obviously now and this is really something the forty Niners have got to think about if they're if they're really honestly considering this move and by the way I read the Peter king stuff and he's not really sad when he says there's credence to it it's it's really have just reading tea leaves again the forty Niners since the rumor has really started to pop they have not come out for like a twelve time and said Jim is our quarterback we're not doing this Gee let me think of a reason why the forty Niners would do that even if they didn't want to bring in Tom Brady who picked me I've got one how about the fact that if they do that Jimmy Garoppolo's agent don yee same agent for Tom Brady would be furious because you're just lowered Tom's value you just took one of the teams off the board that other teams may think are after Tom Brady and now they're not that's my yes that's me reading my tea leaves as to why you haven't heard the forty Niners save for the fifteenth time Jim is our guy they said it a hundred times and then they get to this big rumor now they won't say it again my guess because don he doesn't want them to say it not because they're actually doing it just to gas now the source report but you would not give any forty nine or to say what AJ brown just sad and you really risk upsetting your all marker room and I know you can't make the decision for the players the players can't run it by if you'll love the chemistry they built why are you gonna go disrupt that all right anyway cambiar how James in about a what's going on and I James good man what's up yeah so here's a different twist on the briefing what if Lynch and Shanahan approach the situation has not getting Brady to be starter but it could be you go up a little I hear this a lot James and and and no I mean you can't you can't do that for so many reasons first of all Jimmy Robert just went to the Superbowl he's not gonna be someone's back up the greatest of all time is not going to take a gig to be someone else is back up and financially it makes even less sense like you cannot entertain the the four lines would even have space to go do that and it will probably mean no extension for cattle no extension for deforest Buckner like there's just there's just no way James that that that would happen appreciated I mean can you imagine even try to have that conversation with someone there's no way all right away can we all get into a more of your phone calls coming up in just a second I want to set the table also for choose your favorite date coming up at the top of the hour there is one player in giants spring training right now who is all the rage yeah my dad is you may not even ever heard of them you certainly hadn't heard of him two weeks ago that's coming up next on the sports later you're listening to a mark Willard valuable now your Amazon echo smart speakers he sees KNBR one oh four five and six eighty sports leader twenty twenty is full of changes.

"By the way tennis is well built team right very physical likes running the ball Derrick Henry beating you up they've got AJ brown he's a big play wide receiver they like thrown it down the field to first play the game they will drop back and throw it fifty yards down the field and not worry about the consequences they take risks they can get those big place New England they're not that team anymore so I look at them as as a long term play for these playoffs and I look at them to short term play I can it's easy to believe that the Titans beat the patriots today it's easy is it a guarantee obviously not but it's pretty easy to see the Titans coming in and doing this thing the dolphins still last week that gay mattered this game matters to ten hills better the Titans are better and they've got every opportunity to win this thing because the New England from last year is not the New England this year three different team they have to play more games they've lost to the good teams they don't have the weapons Brady is not the same the wear and tear is there and by the way at new England's magical ace in the back pocket right kicking I will like to talk about enough because it's not fun we'll be able to like talk about kickers you know what I like yours I'm a fan okay I support kickers it's a bumper sticker that I have on my car okay it's not but you don't say Adam V. Terry in this no against Oakland to get to the Superbowl right he nails it in the Superbowl how many games they win by a kick weather was military weather was Gus kowski kicking matters to them guess counties out this year might not seem popular it's not the hip you know you don't listen to and now it's just about kickers all the time and nod your head because kowski being out is a huge deal for them did the change kickers in the middle the season because the back up they had was not good enough and so they brought a new jeep he's missed a couple of kicks already so they don't have the kicking that they use to that they can rely upon is one of the best most reliable kickers in the NFL you have to play an extra game you have to do it because the loss to the dolphins all of your other losses are the better teams than you in your same conference it doesn't stack up well to me so say what you will about history and shrug your shoulders ago out the patriots like those people can do it sure but how good is the team and how good is the team they're facing I'm not buying the patriots because the past is not an asset on a football field in a playoff game it only means so much I'm buying the Titans I'm all in on Tennessee there so eight five five two one two four two two seven that's how you doing the show eight five five two one two four two two seven every people in Boston you just woke up in the like these you get I was starting my morning off like this well you can find me on Twitter I'll be happy to engage with you I'm a man of the people you can you can five be it it's Vince Quinn that's all one word it's Vince Quinn now when we come back there is a crazy connection with basically every single team in the playoffs and what is that common thread it's coming up next the new year is here and I found the perfect way to shake up our shopping routine it's Walmart's gross three pick up and delivery yeah we get the same prices as in store but at Walmart the do the shopping for you so it's like a shopping shortcuts very grocery mother just shops or grocery lists so hard a secret sauce that makes running errands a cake walk a life hack that text your life to get more life out of life nice.

"Jimmy is calling from Long Island Jimmy or on a fan in New York City what's happening what is the government today and he was actually really entertaining which is a surprise me was feeling that way for the patriots the bow out yet I don't see them given his rule seventeen million dollars to leave ballot I think there's a small chance spell check packs of this camp that would greatly going old and come home and have a new challenge what do you think about that I don't think it's so realistic have a nice night well you too and a happy new year to you as well no valid check probably stays as long as Brady does maybe he stays a little bit longer than that we know Bella track as the respect for the New York football giants bike wise giants with Bella Jack however probably you have Brady is going to probably playing in twenty twenty that's my guess may retire after that I'll be things about retirement after Saturday with the AJ brown I would Derrick Henry and with Ryan Tannehill out Dooling of Mr Brady and the Bella jedes when that be something and by the way as you know the Titans are all in six in fog swirl how about one in six iris Corning from Staten Island IRA happy new year to you and happy new year to you and your family for pharaoh so before I guess finish off with the jets two things first of all I can't believe I'm hearing the name of the game and McCarthy again twelve months later so committed to find war appeared to be rock but you don't do did more press conferences and more dissect press conferences can exes and ohs in the game it is it's unbelievable I or who was this guy said this and burn a recount French Twitter accounts and it says that it's ridiculous hope WFAN is thinking of hiring a press conference analyst just a general idea just to in for you just to give us some insight and go into the analytics press conferences of by listen because with a there is a there is a way I wrote to understand press conferences even though on the surface most of them are very difficult to understand you know Steve I I think you just sit on something and I wouldn't be surprised actually years if you'll see analytical on press conference it was not at all but I'm glad we finished seven and nine we'll you know we'll see what they put together for next year you know I was very pleased with some of the you think so many young kids but I want to get to the playoff games for this week and you know what I I tend to kind of agree with you I think as crazy as it sounds I think the Titans you're a bad match up for the patriots I think you said Derrick Henry a strong physical team we got might very well on the other side so let's check inside and out I think it's time to help you go where you go in there and play half way is good as he did all year round I'm taking the Titans twenty to twenty well I hope you're right and then Derrick Henry you know I guess because he's in Tennessee and natural already led the league in rushing already and two hundred eleven yards last week in there to win they needed to get and and did get head convincingly over Houston to get that number six seed but you know one of the surprises and I think this was if I don't know how many years it's been IRA when one team favored by seven team is upset and that's what the it was the line was seventeen of seventy and a half with New England favored over Miami and incredible yeah yeah go ahead I'm sorry go ahead no no no no no I haven't cut you did that was crazy well when you say in that and I'm I'm not big into numbers when it comes to gambling itself what what what it's at seventeen seventeen have eighteen point underdogs against the culture of americorps is sure yeah but but you're right I mean whoever expected especially when the game was a meaningful game in Gillette stadium and and you know what maybe you guys behind the glass to check this out since Belichick is up there which is run with Brady in Gillette stadium I bet you they haven't lost more than a half a dozen teams have more with anything on the line well I'll tell yeah it's going to be most of you I I mean listen that's going to be that's why upset pick I don't know if it's more of the smart thinking on my part not really probably more wishful thinking on my part but how much fun would it be to see the Titans are banned knowing when I write again happy new year thanks for the call Joe was calling from white called Joe you're on the fan was happening happy new year and hope everything is well with you and same with you I we talked last week about coming to the mat and obviously that that night or the next day it did happen to where where one for one for the year I was called basically because I just wanted to see and I haven't heard anything more about mark date from the from the pirate and I know that with dangling bond Nemo out there but I didn't hear anything else and even I know I I'm assuming that Nemo is not the answer more to get back anything that's worth while yeah you know it's a I would think and and if you think about it be you don't you would love to have more today and me and and was certainly a you know he is a genuine bona fide center fielder and he's not that old he can hear he's got a little bit of speed now mall would be difficult to part with and I could understand as much as more J. has been around the block is a center fielder as a defensive player and as a hitter and a by far and away the primo center fielder that is still out there here would be really hard to deal aware of Brandon Nimmo animal and a more down I would love to see in center field but I wouldn't want to give away we are no more if I had to about it with the with a ten not pretend this process but it's not on this not knowing what we really have there is he's making it a little difficult to make that out the old what it should be you know what I'm saying I do and don't write and then says with as you are hoping to have it you know is going to come around he's in is walking every once the moral law it'll be his last year with the metropolitan St again is twenty nine and a half million reduced because of that now non baseball related injury the mats winning a grievance they deserved to win that sure sure so instead of making twenty nine and a half million he's making six million exam is walk year look out you would like to think he's going to take twenty twenty very seriously as of March as metropolitan fans are a Richard is calling from Manhattan Richard you're on the fan happy new year to you what's happened thank you Steve Steve don Larsen I mean he was helped out immensely immensely by being a New York Yankee can you imagine if he pitched a perfect game with let's say this F. as with the New York Giants or the Saint Louis cardinals I mean nobody would remember it now but he would be Richard yeah you pitched a perfect game in the World Series no if he had been with the New York if you've been with any team yeah and your pitching a perfect game in the World Series that's a story that would his legacy to the greatness really developed here if you're going back to Yankee Stadium Feroz time is game to tie in with David wells David cone I mean this guy was bigger than life that which is great I mean it's it's an unbelievable thing would be to I remember I had him in baseball cards when he was on the coast forty five that guy was we're in the early sixties the yeah no I understand you don't have the Yankees greatness in the way they celebrate I mean can you imagine with this guy it will never be duplicated ever ever in in baseball game in the World Series if not pitch will ever be allowed to do another thing Steve he is probably the only actually that's something this great dealt with so many as he was he had a below five hundred wreckage you know it I mean yeah with the Yankees I think one with the separatist or trying to sixty two so I mean you have a history of being a winner so that was good but just think about what he accomplished that will never ever be done and it made me well you're very wise and then he had the good fortune of being on a franchise that celebrates with such gusto these kind of things you know I I think it's amazing that all the fact is that he's become so huge that it's you know I think it's fantastic well yeah well it's a story again for a week Roy how the day of course it in twenty ten against the Reds a no hitter but not a perfect game in the World Series I don't think Richard is giving because he was a Yankee and doing it in New York City well sure that says certainly historic unto Underwood selves with the with the largesse and the passion of of of baseball fans in New York so if your but if it didn't happen anywhere else it would have been just as his story anybody pitching of a perfect game and again ninety seven pitches and seven strikeouts to go along with it and only one three ball count on view we worries in the first inning and a chorus Gil McDougal carry the third baseman for the Yankees took a a liner from Jackie Robinson in the second inning off his glove a deflected over to shortstop Gil McDougal over to first and time for the hour and then in the fifth inning Gil Hodges driving one into the left center field gap and raising over Mickey mantle to make the catch and that sell club whose Brooklyn came to getting a base set ninety seven pitches later history Peter is calling from Woodbury Peter you're on the fan and rock city what's happening Peter Hey everybody yes I what's happening happening at all yes and some I have I have to tell you that's a nickel was interesting and I only say that because of the kids thirty five okay while also does a kid the great fortune of you taken out of school one point of view from the others they were going to get autographs and we want the Montclair deal he sells okay only member you'll get better and his lovely wife and he gave me a bunch of stuff you know to to Peter from yogi but the law and one of them was the dom Lawson signed your short term loss and jumping up holding him and he actually explained to me that that was one of his greatest moments cats in that game and I was my favorite player hello Sean your name in the World Series of course it would be your favorite mall moments by the way Larson don Larsen no was at the the ball park when dad David cone yeah through through right now I think that day Larsen threw out the ceremonial first manage some kind of magic and yeah that was that was really something the other thing I want to ask if he is as far as the jets go you know a tough postseason but this second half momentum if I issue the greatest thing that think they're picking a Levin issue would you go wide receiver offense alignment or something totally different I'll let you go ahead and thank me thought against the filling and thank you very much for the call Peter I would go pass rusher if I could and offensive line a one both if you if you're a giants fan you got to have both and that's the bottom line I mean the they don't have anyone that can get to him regularly consistently Markus golden was a terrific for the New York football giants this year and what do you have nine ten sacks whatever he was good but you can count on one hand only a finger or two maybe three you know of I am and that is that let's face it already is the giants defensively had a little left out a lot to be desired there were awful so but Marcus goal no one was terrific with the sax the bottom line.

"The executive producer as well as the game day host so in front of the microphone and by the microphone put a red it's amazing to see the transformation of the Titans offense with Ryan Tannehill but that's the obvious what are the biggest differences between Marcus Mariota antenna hill after the Titans made this quarterback change well I think it's store it's it's not just one thing it is a combination of things and I think it started with the spark which is what my grade will said you know anytime there's a quarterback change they're looking to spark something offense of late and you know it happened in the middle of the Denver game in week six when the Titans got shut out at mile high and Marcus had played so poorly at that point that they had to make a change but if you'll bring real back a few weeks there table one the left tackle miss the first four games due to a violation of PD and he had never played with Rogers apple will be brought in from the ramp at left guard so they had no cohesion together well they're clicking now they're playing really well together the office of our specially last month that just a handful of buildings where they were just a myriad of those especially from pale the want due to you know pre snap uneven posts that penalties but there's that and then they have you know Derrick Henry really started cranking up a few weeks ago just like he did in twenty eighteen so between those things in rides any of the patients see in this thing it just really kind of all working together Arthur Smith is the first year often supported or even though he's been with Titans for several years he's a tight ends coach previously and you know they've just been able to draw up some things and I think it's also Ryan Tannehill making the best out of this second chance opportunities if you don't forget he was traded here basically for a bag of potato chips for the Miami Dolphins I mean they pay part of his salary to get rid of them right in part of their rebuild and he has just done everything in the world right that you can't I mean he's completely what seventy two plus percent of his passes get will highest passer rating in the league it's unbelievable I don't think he ever did anything like that Miami but I also don't think you ever had an office supply like he does a back what he doesn't Henry any customer Sivers like the rookie AJ brown at Ole miss it was a can't miss prospect well I'm glad you brought him up because that's where I was going next we haven't seen a game like AJ brown had against the raiders in several years going back to what it was Mike Evans in his rookie season but I he ended up with a hundred fifty three yards five catches a couple of touchdowns how did they develop bad chemistry so quickly yeah I I think that it just comes out of first of all AJ brown being a solid and consistent worker he's constantly working on as craft in you gotta realize too that when training camp began AJ brown wasn't necessarily the guy that was gonna be the one it was Corey Davis the former first round pick in the twenty seventeen draft right so he had a lot of reps in camp was Ryan Tannehill as then the back up but he's working with the two is a lot so that chemistry work there it's interesting you bring him up because during that game in week six where they made the change during the game AJ brown he openly wept in the locker room because he felt so bad about what happened to markets and that they had to make that change they had really develop good chemistry but at the same time he done this with pride ten ill and in the off season in things leading up to training camp and throughout the preseason so it's just natural there but AJ brown I remember the night that they drafted him back in April of that in the in the actual of all places and we really like to pick at the time he's not the best basses take the top off the defense had a guy but he has a great combat catcher and you look at all this film does catches it yards after catch our color analyst for tags radio is former cardinals head coach and tighten long distance that Marantz long assistant Dave McGinnis he said he reminds me so much of ankh one bold the staff is due to ever and and endpoint bold it didn't have a great forty time at the combine but what a great career that guy have all this is that kind of guy and if you go look at it but after that first contact your honor bringing down you just going to make it work and so that kind of has grown in Ryan Tannehill's belief and given their reciprocation with each other right Brian is part of Titan's radio with the game day host and executive producer with us here after hours on CBS sports radio five hundred fifty two total yards of offense against the raiders and you consider the match up but they're on some kind of role as they head into their first of two battles against the Texans who got the same record in the same division so as you look at these two teams how do you think they match up well I think that they both and as of late the Titan you could not say this several weeks ago but have explosive offenses that could score on most any possession which is something you could not say a few weeks ago but you know it was not really red hot streak with this thing Derrick Henry is doing his best impression of late season Derek entering a twenty eighteen and like I said in finding different receivers to write an email through to ten different guys in a win over Oakland now the Houston Texans it's all about the show and watch and that's really what this game is about yes the Andre Hawkins is going to be there he is going to give everything he has every snap he's going to get it you just have to try to keep him from taking the game over that's what the Titans defense that the figure out and the price and that's the one thing where I'm concerned this weekend that Nissan stadium in Nashville with this game is that the Titans haven't banged up secondary we did not see English on the ends of the door Jack within that secondary last week but there's young guys in there that stepped in to make plays well that stepping into making plays against the raiders receiving corps and and not against the the Andre hopped in the world and it will all work comes back in place that's something they're going to have to watch what they're gonna have to get pressure on this on what to do can extend plays with his body it just does fantastic work that way they have it yeah early and often and that's where a big guy like Jeffrey Simmons comes into play where you can maybe get some of that pressure Terrell Casey had worked through a neck injury a few weeks ago he is starting to be his old self in terms of production so they're getting pressure there they're gonna have to do that though but the the the one place that the match up where the Titans have is injured secondary verses their receiving corps slip around at the same thing the Texans are looking for some kind of consistency in their secondary and they were out matched manned and played by the rookie drew lock last week in Houston the card them up he had a hill good to use on his hot streak like this you can't really do some damage caused ME Bradley Roby I think their best corner set up the last series into good after just got out of hand they're just trying to find that stuff in this week this is on you know the Texas office of line that I mean if I could have certainly have that has advantages here but they're gonna have to get out early on that score and get up on them early and get after just on what this thing gets the keys to all of this a Derrick Henry continued to run the ball back the big question is this as he has a hamstring injury that he had in the Oakland gable late and we're gonna be anxious to see what he does I don't anticipate practice tomorrow and we'll see what he does later in the week they got to have big twenty two back there he said he wants these on stadium to be a very tough environment as someone who knows the stadium well what are you expecting on Sunday I would expect the Titans fans will not let them down they are beginning to believe in what the product is on the field in fact we had former Titans great Eddie George on our flagship station today in Nashville and he was imploring fans come out and support this team because in this window of the last decade or so there's been a lot of times where the opposing team has bought up all the tickets wow you know the season ticket holders have had a problem with consistent winning and they want to see a good product there I think they will but I don't think they'll disappoint the Titans that are actually playing on the field and and their role is to twelve make when we think about my great balls it's taken a couple of years and and the quarterback was obviously a piece of it but what's the best part of his leadership for this Titans team I think it Amy is I think the thing is with him is keeping them focused I have noticed this and I certainly will will time will tell at about three fifteen central time on Sunday what happens with that win or loss column but he has done a really bang up job with keeping them on point on track and focus the the war them with a day off on Mondays after their the last four wins wanted to come in to get treatment exercise and and the whatever but they would have the day off and come back on Wednesday and he would have the game plan ready to install in their bought into that because when you talk to like Johnny Smith the tied into any great seventeen yard catch in the corner of the end zone they're the third quarter I guess it was from ten until the interviewed in the locker room afterwards and I said you know this is great they you've had a tight game would have twenty one of the yeah double them up in the year defense my place to listen they all this is wonderful he said we got a long flight back that actually that I'm ready gets rest on the plane I'm ready go get the Houston Texans this is wonderful but I move at all and when you talk to other guys in the locker room like Jay on brown who's been scored a fumble from Ty Smith and and when they get the deer and Waller took it back forty five yards for a score thank thank you for this great but I want the Houston Texans we have to have them now that's the focus this is this is wonderful but it's time to move on there's not even a twenty four hour rule and celebration so you've got a focus any of the two the fan base here has been critical of of my great all with a riverboat gambler mentality in taking some chances within games where it didn't always work out and he hasn't done as much of that he he's watched a little more from the thirty thousand foot view as the head coach and let his coordinators and assistance gonna do their thing with influence in only places but might very well have done a heck of a job so far and it's gonna be interesting to see just how this plays out on Sunday and they want on Sunday and goodness gracious I don't know what will happen after that they're talking about maybe flexing the following game in week sixteen which is also a national against drew Brees and the saints the Sunday night football possibly so we'll see what happens Titans are playing their way on to that national stage all right you can follow read to on Twitter at red beat Tennessee and he's the host of Titans radio on game day plus the executive producer which.

Colts face different Titans' threat with Ryan Tannehill at QB

"Sunday. It is the titans and Ryan Tannehill. Dan Hill really happy for him. By the way at the Indianapolis Colts Starwood Tannahill and the November December Munster known as Derrick Henry. Well here's the thing with tannehill now barring the complete face plan the question is just how many guaranteed years does he get from the titans because because he's GonNa be the quarterback next year. They're really the running an efficient effective offense. I think he's up around fifteen yards of completion over his last two games. The problem is with Tennessee. Hennessy is. He isn't throwing the ball a whole lot so we had eighteen. Pass attempts against Jacksonville last week. Now of course two rushing touchdowns in two passing touchdowns so he he wants somebody a lot of money in DFS. But it's it's one of those things where decided Lamar Jackson. You really don't think that that's tenable. Because he's a good Ron. Everybody's not an explosive one but then he had the nineteen pass attempts against Kansas City. A couple of weeks ago. This is how they WANNA play. So I think Tannahill the hill is a streamer streamer the quarterback the problem is i. Don't trust any of his wide receivers because AJ Brown had the big game and Jacksonville but two weeks exco. He had the terrible game just one catch against Kansas City. So I'm not really trusting any of that. I think Corey Davis is flat out droppable right now because I have a tough time saying to myself. When am I going to play Corey Davis in any of my line at this point and so I think he's droppable? Ryan Tannehill has accounted for for over nineteen fantasy points and multiple touchdowns in each of his five starts his nine point two yards per attempt is leading the NFL. He's playing really well. And I think the colts are a gettable matchup even if it's not a pristine one but the guy you always trust here is Derrick Henry. You had a third touchdown last week wiped out because of a screen pass. The the colts are really struggling to score points right now and we heard this week. That t y Hilton so far isn't sure he's going to be ready to go on Sunday. This projects to be a lower scoring game in Indianapolis and that means all systems go for Derrick Henry locked in rb one locked in court. DFS play tight end for the titans writings. Nobody worthwhile nobody useful Delaney Walker. Could be back. Johnny Smith didn't even have a target last week. He had a carry their they got one in target for Michael Pruitt. Firkh sir. Didn't have a target Dennis Kelly the backup. Tackle got a touchdown. The tight ends and Tennessee are useless. It's really Tannehill and Henry Henry at this point of the season the only two guys that I can consider with any sort of confidence.

The Jaguars face the Texans in an AFC South showdown

"Right Thursday night football put a pin in it the AFC south showdown between the Tennessee tied tunes one in one after that dispiriting home home loss to the colts now travel to the big chlorine tank Jacksonville to face the Jaguars and Greg. This is a a very interesting match between also the titans this we wanted to in your tain you find it interesting but I'm trying to sell to the greater raider public the titans which they could not have looked better in the second half against the browns on the road got everybody sucked in and then look very much like the old titans and we to which WHO's WHO's the real titans in two thousand nineteen and the jags anytime you this is a caged animal game West Cornered Animal Game Owen to everyone knows your season's season's over in the NFL when you go with the added element caged animal of your cornerback trying to get out of the cage before the game exactly exactly so there you go that way. Greg caged animal game against the Titans team that we really don't know who they are yet. We've seen a ceiling floor. Laura ready and a quarterback in Jacksonville that sort of resembles a you know. A cute furry caged animals to garden. Gardner Menchu looked fine in his first start but this is a perfect match up for Tennessee to get right not only did. They wipe the floor with Jacksonville. If I remember a few times a year ago they're a veteran and secondary who should be able to swarm and kind of swallow this Jaguars offense which was very condensed the week ago. This is just so this such delimited team. They're so thin you know how sometimes Dak Prescott. He's completed eight passes to different receivers in the first half. They've six Jaguars period have caught passes this year they. They don't have a backup running back. Their offensive line is very thin and they were struggling to pick up blitzes. It's just a lot to ask for mint you who I think's doing a good job and their defense offense to carry them. I think when you have the B. Line through both games was that despite some big plays on offense for the titans against the Browns Marcus Mariota. Uh is not a quarterback that propels any offense. He's any seems to hold you back in one in one thing that I find interesting about a team like the titans versus others is that you get Adam Humphreys and you mentioned on Sunday any finishes week to with negative two yards. I thought he was going to be the perfect thing for Marcus Mariota and AJ Brown big game week one really nothing in week two and it says you cannot count on the titans attack week to week outside of. I think you know Henry. Potentially early on the ground has been consistent since last November so one of the better backs in the league they're gonNA need him to be big in this game but I do trust every other element of the titans and in their defense and to me. I'd be surprised if they don't win this by ten points or more there the better all around team. I expected to win but you never know when a Jaguars defense it's perfectly capable of shutting down the Tennessee Titans who are not dynamic on I mean they shut down the Texans the Texans. I think they were touchdown. I believe it was on a very very short field otherwise they did a great job and that was without in Gakugei and boy. I don't know if they're back but they got pressure on Watson and that's two weeks in a row for Watson Awesome but Watson that didn't shut the offense down against New Orleans man she mania. There's the night all right.

"Com. Copes? I thought you're gonna come back with a little dairy Rucker lagging wheel because I tease them South Carolina, Gamecocks color, the and it's not my imagination. I asked 'em. I be medium impact Brian to look up. It seems like the Niners have been drafted a lotta South Carolina Gamecocks. They might be give me a little rundown less ten years Bohm. Here you go ready. Twenty eleven Chris Culliver member have trouble the Super Bowl with Artie Lang little bit. Never that. Never that twenty thirteen Marcus Lattimore the running back who had the blown-up knee who they hope to could be a rehab project. It didn't work out twenty fourteen. Bruce Ellington, remember Larry Krueger spending a lot of verbiage on Bruce. Ellington a lot of verbiage appro- selling to twenty fifteen running back. Mike Davis, by the way, all Benjamin titan, Rory Anderson, every guy you're mentioning like, I don't know. Well, are they are you ready for? I mean, we left on Friday morning, and it was Nick boasts world and we all on the quarterback. Do you care about politics, blah, blah, blah, all that stuff. And they go ahead and with a thirty six pick of the draft. Now, we had Cole cubelic come on SEA analyst tell us you gotta take AJ Brown at ole miss. He's. Time and he was on the board. And they didn't Embiid you think about that too. And I was disappointed. So is I even though there's a lot to like about deebo Samuel guys. He is out of South Carolina. And he is projecting him as a if you need a comp golden Tate and Percy Harvard have been mentioned, so he's a little guy. Five foot eleven and five eleven two hundred fourteen. That's a lot of speed. So obviously these guys now here's the problem hamstring injuries early in his career fibula fracture came back. A redshirt senior sixty two catches eight hundred eighty two yards. That's fourteen yard catch first team. All SEC, if that counts remember the old days when you cared who made I team all conference and he against clemson's secondary, which was filled with traffic's he went for two hundred ten receiving. So that's a comp right there against NFL type talent. He's also guys returner. He's a return of sorts. It sounds like Dante Pettis now he's thicker than pets Pettus way in these days. Not I mean, fetish ways probably is light east too late. He used some muscle. Actually, this guy's this guy's much thicker better be with the name like deebo and his coat. This brings up the very obvious question. Someone's got to ask like he's got to be named after the guy in Friday, legendary confirmed. During the break that the draft date of DeVos. Samuel was the anniversary date of the release of the original Friday. Honest-to-goodness walks up to Chris Tucker, and he goes, yeah. That's my. So I'm not a HD. I've only seen it on cable on TV. So I didn't experience it like fully. The guy who give me the deebo breakdown. He the neighborhood bully who comes like as soon as they see deebo coming down the street like ice cube starts hiding jewelry. And is is herb and like, and then he walks up. He goes, what are you guys doing help me break into the house next door or there's another scene where he goes, what are you guys doing? Hey, gimme your bike. That's the best part the little bike even people plays a huge role because at the climax of the movie ice cube and deebo have to bare knuckle it out in the street and any knock Stevo out. So the movie climaxes with ice cube knocking out deebo, Murph. You know, what diva looks like right from the flu throw scary. Looking ahead. Yes. Well, he was asked paulie at the combine in February IBM sorry. The combine in February not Friday. He said, I got the nickname from the movie Friday. I call. Name me that he said when I was a kid I used to be a bully, entail, toys and stuff. Hey, let's be honest bunny. Just pheasants Senate. If you're gonna name your kid after a character in Friday, you better name deebo don't name them smokey. I. 'cause more smokey you've heard smokey on the show. Smokey. Well, they suck. You have the best line used got knocked that. They asked him. Are you still a bully? And he said on the field on the floods we need boat, so he joins and then they went ahead and with the third round pick took another receiver Jalen Hurd at you. Gotta do your voice again. Jalen. I was quite surprised, but the Niners are are making no bones about it that this is what they want that. This receiving core. That's been don't forget who led the team in receiving less year Kendrick born. Okay, Kendrick born leads him receiving so Jalen Hurd is he's a former running back at Tennessee who transferred to Baylor set out of your learn the position then went sixty nine catches for nine hundred forty six yards. You got big twelve offensive newcomer of the year. So now, he's you're receiving core. Guys, Dante Pettis the F or mentioned Kendrick porn marquees Goodwin. Trent Taylor, Richie, James. And then here's the new guys DeVos Sanyal, Jalen Hurd, and don't forget they signed Jordan Mathews from the eagles too. So. Out of that group. There's no de'andre Hopkins in that group. You know, there's no Antonio Brown in that group right now, they still to me. And again, you know, unless depots ready to go become Percy Arvin, golden Tate, whatever to me, it's still lacking. And I fell in love with AJ Brown after Cole cubelic told me, but I'll defer to a guy like Krueger who studies a tape more than I do. I stay with my lane. You know, I can't tell you. But I can tell you if you go for two hundred and ten yards against Clemson. That says something. Yeah. It does that's against NFL type talent. So welcome to the to the forty nine or fold deebo Samuel. So Nick Bosa deebo Sanyal too big name guys. And you have the sound. Actually, you got it. Oh my goodness. Look at this Cardi cut, it Murphy tear kids, so getting start respecting his takes where he rejected carbon policies both of you fan peanuts. Don't forget his anti peanut stance. I thought the Carmen sound on both great. He's no wanna stop talking about it. He flipped it. Double guns to Sally from peanuts. Earlier. Is this from the combine copes? Listen, can you explain where your nicknaming your name sort of came from came from Louis Friday, people is also like a billion a movie, and I got their name from my father. When I was a kid. I used to believe here's when I was little. Happy about it too. Take a lunch or to you know, how it is is a proud Villier. Well, anyway. Pride, you know, five eleven to fourteen and doing their thing. All right here, we go into three d depot music from Friday. Like ominous. Dan, any time. It's kind of like Joel deebo coming down the street. Murtha music kicks in five says deebo walks up and ask what you got on my forty is that right? Oh, I see what you got my forty yard. Dash. I see what he said. So anyway, that was big news. And then of course, the punter with the fourth pick, which we put bum baby. And then did you guys hear the one last dre greenlaw the linebacker at Arkansas they drafted? No, this was quite the store. What is it? Did you see this might be? Yeah. This is a he was drafted. He's a relying baccarat to Arkansas. Come on down Dray greenlaw, and he was drafted. And there was an incredible story that was put out by just some dude people like wait what's going on Jerry DALE'S? He wrote dre Greenland was drafted in the fifth round by the forty Niners. I wanna tell you a little story about him. And he goes on to tweet I saw this because you put it out. And I read it amazing. My daughter went to college party when she was a freshman. Oh, she knew very few people at the party. And also did not have a ton of experience drinking someone slipped something into her drink when she wasn't paying attention. I know it's terrible. I hate these stories Ray was also a freshman. Any new my daughter from high school? And he did not know the guy who was all over her in when that guy tried to steer my daughter out the front door, he stopped the guy and said, she's not going anywhere. He was a starter on the Razorbacks. His place was not secure. He was underage at a keg or he wasn't drinking. But if there was a fight he was risking getting thrown off the team in some ways, he was risking everything. And he wristed for my daughter the guy back down and no one saw again. No, one at the party seemed to know who he was and my daughter and her friends never saw him. Again. I didn't ever tell the story because maybe someone would say, oh, he shouldn't have been at that party. Maybe not but he had my daughters back in for that. I will always oh him. So do me a favor root for Dray greenlaw grades. Good. Okay. Graham. Glad you told me that I had not heard that. And that's great. Yeah. Wow, jackasses slip. I hate hearing those kind of stories, dude. That's like the lowest thing you could do to somebody. They're not prepared hearing that though. You got all kinds of people. So that's your basic rundown on the first five rows, Nick boasts of the Trump guy deebo Samuel the Friday with a big leg. Jalen Hurd, the Baylor. The former running back Wischnewsky who's got a huge leg, huge leg. Yes. Greenlaw the chivalrous gentleman. I'm just going to say if I was going to do this about Nick Bosa as long as you can hit the quarterback. I saw this guy gonna catch me some touchdowns. Dre Greenland tackle you keep guys from Gary. Is he gonna tackle the tight end? The flip side that Corey Ballantyne who got shot. Into Pika, Kansas. He's gonna be okay. But that was not. All right. We're going to go down into the darkness. Hello, darkness, mild friend, the kids know that song now because of the movie trolls trolls, there's a feature a sad character. Sing sound of silence. All the kids now age ten and under. No, Hello, darkness, my old friend, and they say the blue hair Garfunkel stuff, man, I love those guys. But still you got laugh a little bit chose you. Timberlake's on it. All that stuff. Now. A little buddies Ethan they were going somewhere, and they tried. They were hoping to get some sort of candy or something imam denied him. And Hello darkness mild friend when he didn't get the candy. Yeah. Yeah. Kids ariffin. So there you go Andy bag and this all by way, saying we're going into the giants that's out there. Murph on the less, your New York Yankees fan in which case it was a Sunday's beautiful weekend that the art did you hear just crankier down to China basin. Go Yankee hurt a saw hot. There are heard it. And I saw Momo's I heard they overtook Molly thirty gimme for that scene at China Basit and candlestick.

"As we talk about with with wide receivers and Cornerbacks. All the time. It's it's really kind of what flavor do you prefer? You know, these guys come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes in plain styles in it's about what you're doing on your team schematically, and what fits best with what with what you're trying to get accomplished. Right. So I think deebo the fit makes a lot of sense for me just kind of innovation cume AJ Brown. I think brought a little bit more to the table. I think there's a little bit more vertical to his game. You know, he he could have brought something that I don't think they have which is not only the ability to do some of the similar things that deebo does underneath. But also be able to be a vertical threat from the slot. Be another guy that can kinda compliment George kindle in that way. And you know, again, just bring something to the table that their current receiving core doesn't really have. But you're I think you're perfectly fine with with either one of those options and incandescently see whether. Forty Niners preferred to go with deebo over a player like AJ Brown, or you know, even keel Harry had he'd been on the board. All right. So that wraps up our scattering report for deebo Samuel overall and not just because of his name because I'm still trying to figure out some kind of Friday joke that will figure out. I mean as soon as as soon as he trucks, someone we're going to get the gun knocked the fuck out me. I mean, you know, it's coming. We're getting ready yet graphic artists out there gift makers. Do it get ready to just have it prepped in primed? So that when he truck someone and he will because he plays angry. He's like a bigger Steve Smith. Yeah. He's he's very physical player. Sure. He and he's he's thick with two seize. So you know, he's he's gonna roll somebody. And where we need the memes ready. We need them ready. "With. Was the fifty first pick in the two thousand nineteen NFL draft tendencies, I until AJ. Why does he? Not bad calf. But he's he made AJ Brown often aboard the fall continues for decay Metcalf. I just had if your decay Metcalf, and you run that forty yard dash and he's on the phone with his parents. Yeah. Ryan he's thinking to himself. I just secured a top fifteen pick this evidence that you know, what the combine is not the end all be all. Agreed. You have to have more on film, and you have to have more to your game than just a good forty time because he's fallen and there's a good reason for it. While the picture they're showing right now, like the Metcalf pictures were floating around would I go to break. And I think you and I do a. Like a fraud of that picture you. And I know we should not do any will like that. That made me take. Speech. I come on. And they put them side by side picture weeded out the picture needs referencing is spend just put it up. It is decaying Metcalf. AJ Brown looking at all hallows ripped with with their shirts off working out. And we should not do that. Really should. I mean, if you want to embarrass yourselves. I think you absolutely should do that. You guys know me. And you know, that I'm willing to do something like that. I I don't doubt that. I don't doubt that for a second. I don't think anyone wants to see that. Absolutely. Not. Anyone want us either? But the last time I think Nate cared about. What people thought about that? It's it's I'm sure he doesn't care. That's true. I love you. And I might. Yeah. I like the idea that Brown went ahead and Metcalf. I just think he was very overrated prospect, and I didn't want that for the bills, and he is now going to be leased wide receiver five there been four receivers that have gone five there. You've got Harry, that's gone. You've got Brown. That's gone. You have who am I missing Brown just went and deebo Samuel? So he'll be at least the fifth receiver picked in this draft. And I think NFL teams are smarter than I thought I would they would have been. I thought someone was going to fall in love with him. I thought maybe the raiders with thinking about that as their surprise picking the top five, and they clearly didn't do that. So. It's going to be interesting. See where it goes. All right. Well, let's go back to the podium. The Cincinnati Bengals add pick number fifty two pick in..

"Draft the Tennessee titans. Select AJ. What? So I told you walking out the door you'd said AJ Brown. The titans and there he went. I mean, it it made sense all their series on board. They've got the they've got the big receiver and Corey Davis. And now they've got a little little Corey Davis version AJ Brown, and look how do you think? Corey davis. We'll find out but they they look they used the number five overall pick on Corey Davis. Lot of talent. He's got a lot of talent. And to to Paul's point. Look, they still have Marcus mariota throw it to him. This. Look, they're saying you got there cannery you've got this off a line in front of you gotta run game. We just gave you a slot option. A guy that can play outside to do all different kinds of things for you. And you got Cory Davidson five picking the draft a couple of years ago. Marcus time is now. Time is now aged round made the most sense here. Not now, it's definitely never because it's it's gotta happen for we talked about Winston. And he that want to punch in that draft and house both guys have to show up. All right. So the pick is in for the Bengals we'll get that soon enough. Then the eagles Texans picked twice now. Let's get down to it here. If it's going to be a corner if it's going to be a corner who's out there. And who are we rooting for to not get picked by the teams right in front of Houston Julian love from Notre Dame is still there. Just Justin lane from Michigan state is still there. Those two are on the board Paul when you did your your breakdown onto corners are all those guys off the board at this point Justin lane still lane is one of the favorite guys that I watched I liked him. Because I felt that he did really well in man coverage. He did a little bit of zone coverage. And he also somebody that wasn't afraid to come up. And tackle seems like a lot of things that the Texans would like. Yeah. That's that's that's very true about just lane. I I broke him down for a couple of games. And I I like the way that he transitioned from off coverage the way that he transitioned, and then if it was one play against I think, it was mish knows how state through a quick ball screen real quick screen, and he transitioned and went and got that thing for two yard law. So I was like, whoa. I don't know that he's a sticky and coverage as you you'd like him to be especially when he's off, but he's got length and he can run. So those are things that they've talked about longer stronger faster, podium, Hodie bangles..

"I think is probably my guy in that range. I wouldn't I wouldn't hate Samuel though. So I think for me, I look at AJ Brown Samuel in the keel, Harry all very close to me, again, they'll have slightly different strengths. But also share a lot of similarities as well. So I wouldn't hate any of those players at that pick. But if I had to pick one personally right now, I probably lean AJ Brown ever so slightly for for me. I'm looking to replace Pierre Garson so that and I and I think India's Avila could be good enough to replace him. But there's enough questions for me there that I kind of put them off to the side. And so I'm operating in the same world that you are where we're looking into keel hair deebo Samuel AJ Brown. And I look at I start with the physical Comstock or sewn, and they all have similar size tenured, splits forty times. They're all little bit slower than zone was actually. But. Like not. That's not the forty Niners version that we know. But people forget like dude was fast. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. But the thing is that in the kill hair, and he's also big six to over six to two twenty five. And that's that's a lot of mass to be moving at the speed at which he moves it which actually kind of tracks me to him. I like that. And I like that he can be contested catch wide receiver more so than the other two because of his size, and he displayed that ability at the collegiate level like he was very good at doing that. But I think he can't be more. And so I think for me, you know, much like the Niners. It's probably going to be between Samuel, and Harry. I would probably I dunno. I lean I lean a little bit hairy. I could be convincing way. I'm like, I'm a just a wind away from going one way or the other because I like that Harry could do some of that contested catch stuff. I like that he's a little bigger, but men Samuels route running is really good. It's really good. And that's probably where I would I would land. But Asia Brown I could easily see being the pick their if those two guys off the board or if the team just thinks that he's better. Oh, I don't know. How so. Yeah. Nothing nothing to add there. I think that's kind of where we land with that second round pick one guy that we completely forgot to add on here that we did watch a little bit and talk about his keen Butler, I eight that's right. He is. I think you know, summed up very quickly. And this is probably why we forgot him is because we weren't terribly interested in the prospect of adding him, I think he is very much a one trick pony. He is a dude is huge. He's very large large human being. It was not spot him on the team over six five to twenty seven was what he came in at the combine moves pretty well, especially vertically for that for that size. Again. Very well. And again, you have to take that into consideration. And then get his spark score at eighty third percentile. So also way to Justice score. So. He gets points for being that we're being big. But when you look at kind of the trade element and kind of what he's really doing to translate that to the field and in productive ways. I mean, dude is a contested catch downfield monster. I think it's tough to know how much of that translates. So the thing that you run into these big receivers in general like that is they have so many highlight plays that are just kind of insane because they are. So so much more physically gifted than the guys are going across from their bigger stronger faster, and they are dunking on these like poured tiny Cornerbacks right in college. And you see that a lot with with Butler is he had some some of the most absurd plays that watched this year in college football, the stiff arm in the gut Australia was a lot of. Yeah. Oklahoma game had a number of plays actually in that one that we're really impressive. But that's really the only thing he he really struggles to get breaks. I think if you're expecting a lot from him in the intermediate level. Yeah. Going to be very disappointed..

"But for the most part everything you said is spot on about him. So I totally see him. I think I'd be more comfortable with him at twenty seven. Honestly, I a guy that we haven't mentioned yet. And if he's at twenty four I would jump into any go up and take him, and I don't care who the raiders got in at number four is Cleveland Farrell of clue Farrell's there. I'm jumping up there and take off. Quick fast in a hurry. I like him. I actually my my dream scenario is a Williams at four and feral at twenty four, and I'm happy, and then twenty seven is a is a is almost like a, you know, when you're playing Ono, and you can now not, you know, anyway, whatever game it is where you could use an ace for one or ten or whatever whatever game that is. I don't know. I don't play cards at twenty one. Yeah. Yeah. There you go. It's one of those man, it's as it's Ason whole that'd be that number twenty seven overall pick. If you can go with feral at twenty four, and you can get Williams before I'd be thrilled. Would you be opposed to at twenty four a guy like AJ Brown Mississippi State, if he's I mean, he should be there. Maybe a parent's Campbell guy. You can move to the slot. One of those two guys in at that. Even though you have Williams you have a B. You have a Ryan grant you have JJ Nelson. But you know, nothing hasn't really produced. He doesn't speak guy. Yup. Grants coming off an injury. And you know, you got worry about his. Reduction if you're expecting because for a thousand yards, you are full of really good drugs because that's not gonna happen this year because going to be aby Williams and then everybody else, but a guy like Brown to really bridge the gap for a few years, and I can make the argument about I'm not going to he may be the best receiver in his class. Have. Ducks in and everything. Yeah. No, I'm with you. I've said that a few times while everybody was talking about decay Metcalf. I said I think is teammate I think teammates better than him. You know, I'm I'm way higher on AJ Brown. I wouldn't mind taking him. I think he'd be another guy that I probably wait until number twenty seven, and I might wait too long. Someone else will probably grab him. But worse the worst. You know, the the one the one guy that could end up being a for the raiders in. I'm not super high on them. But he's a burner. That's a that's marquees Hollywood Brown. But that Lind's Frank surgery. He had that kind of scares me. And I wanted to drop him at least the third round, but he's not going to be the third round. And he probably won't be there in the second round. But just say he dress just because teams are kind of concerned about that. If the raiders feel comfortable with that. I could see him being a take the top off the defense type, dude. And you know, what I mean, you got Markey's Brown one side. You gotta it's only Brown on the other side, and they're happy as can be because they're related, and then you got Tyrell Williams as well. Yeah. I could see that being a helluva receiving core right there. Because what I've notice. And one thing that I really broke down and was looking at some research that I was doing AB is going to need some help. You know? I mean, he's he's been a stud. He is a stud. I I know this. But last year he worked with onside juju Smith Schuster who's a stud is in his own. Right. So now, they have they just have. I don't I'm not trying to disrespect anybody. But they got they got parts next to now they had stars Negga. You know, what I mean they were stars next to each other. Now, they just have other pieces around them. So I think that they still need to to make that why receiving core. The just the weapons on offense period. I think they do need to step that up to make sure to ensure the AB is going to have a really good productive season. Make this raider offense really a weapon man, something that that teams have to prepare themselves for and not something that they think, oh, we just got a double cover Abyan..

"I mean, there's no guarantee that Jones works out this year, and it's a huge season for him. I mean, no longer. Can he be the guy that that just goes in shows flashes? Once in a while he has to be a consistent producer. This is his third season. It is put up time for him. And if he doesn't then they have to figure out life after Jones, it's it's really that. Simple. So that's why wouldn't rule out the idea of taking a receiver in the second or third round. I brought up AJ Brown from ole miss. Well, let me ask you because I've got to this like they need a number one wide receiver. And then he starts rattling off names who in this year's draft, our number one wide receiver candidates, and again, I yeah, we have said you don't know if they actually care if it's a number one wide receiver, which by the way is a imaginary designation. But yes, I agree. Who fits the Bill does AJ Brown fit that Bill? I think I think he could be he's got massive potential his yards after the catch are insane. And he he should get sniffs in the first round if he doesn't and he gets into the second round whoever gets him. They're going to be very happy. Metcalf fits said, we know that. Yeah. Metcalf arts Sega or Sega Whiteside. I think is more of a number two in my mind. But I love him because he the two things he does incredibly well his foot work against press. Coverage just makes some defenders that are uptight look silly. And he also has this incredible ability to essentially become a rebounder in the end zone where he boxes out the defender. He's six two six two hundred twenty five so he's not huge. But he has this ability of by positioning. And it's he boxes out the the defender on these jump ball. And he's able to go up and get these contests catches, which is what makes him so appealing now on the flip side is he able to consistently win with his speed separation didn't run at the combine eager to see what he does is at his pro day. But he someone that I would I would definitely consider in in the second round. Or if he's able to if they're able to hold off until the third round for him. I think. He someone that can come in and be a potential number two for you. All right talking about receivers still a need for the bills after the two signings last week. What do you think when we come back? We're gonna get into NFL true or false doing a little bit earlier today. We've got a couple of gas coming up for the two o'clock hour come on back with us. One bills live from one driving. "And they're like what is the buzz about here? And I was like we'll Cuyler Murray's Wayne, but he's not even gonna test. Yeah, there there isn't mother isn't a there isn't one specific thing that people are really buzzing about I think there's a several position groups that are really interesting. I think the offensive linemen and the receivers have some really interesting players receivers, particularly there's like the whole spectrum of type of players. I mean, you've got decay Metcalf. You've got I came and then he got Markey's Brown, and like smaller shifty guys you've got AJ Brown who looks like a running back playing receiver. There's just all kinds of guys in. So there there's a lot of I think if you're if you're gonna say there's buzzer excitement about anything. It's it's watching receivers as watching the offensive lineman, obviously defensive lineman is going to be huge this week. Oh. Ed oliver. I think that was actually kind of an interesting thing this morning, he weighed in I think it to eighty seven. So that was a good way for him. That's plenty. Yeah. That's like more than what Aaron Donald waiting now. Obviously that's a comparison. That happens a lot. I don't think he's earned Donald. But he's a very good player very explosive and being at two eighty seven is a very good number for him. We'll see how he tests. I think that he over the next few days he could generate a lot of buzz of among the receivers. Is there anybody that you particularly like, it's just one of your guys? I think you came about a starting to he started to I I mean, I'm standing out to you a little bit. As things you've said to me in tweeted, I'm reticent to say, he's my guy because I there are worries with him in terms of drops and his like, he's just massively few look at his web chart on. Oh credible through the measurements. It's just he's like ninety eight th percentile in every day. Big, man. I think actually I heard that he set the record for wingspan at receiver position at the combine almost eighty four inch got. Yeah. So he's got an insane catch radius. I'm a little worried about like. You know, his ability to separate his his consistency as a catcher, but he has immense upside I'll put it that way like his ability to get behind. The defense is really good. He's really long strider really fast. So I wouldn't necessarily say he's like, you know, my pound the table guy. But I do like him a lot. I'm really interested to see how akilah Harry runs think. He's just kind of one of those guys that's really polarizing right now because we're from Arizona state. He he's a guy that is like really big physical super productive. But he's also sort like, there's he's kind of in the alshon Jeffery shor mold where you're like Kenny separate or is he gonna have to only sorta use his body in wind contested catches and things like that. I think he's going to be really interesting. The Stanford guy JJ JR Sega white said Whitehead is really interesting player. He's like form basketball player box out king. Like if you watch him they just throw it up into the end zone.

"I would spend a first round pick on talented is is I think he's going to have some issues with maturity at the next level. So I seventy seven on him. Which is an early third round pick. And a lot of this is based on some of the information I have on him from from the program, but I'm just not as much of a fan as you probably thought I would be actually I'm right there with you. And a lot of people thought Harry a lot of people think Harry's a top five wide receiver in this class. The first round pick. If not I early day to pick. And he's got some good things work at forum. Of course, he's a true deep threat. He's got unbelievable timing on the jump ball that fade route in the red zone was his bread and butter, man. He was the extra Seaver who's pretty physical track the ball pretty well. He's more of a long strider with strong hands with a wide catch radius, and he might be along shredder, but he's not fast enough to get behind many NFL quarters at the next level. Harry isn't very good getting off the line scrimmage. So it takes him a little bit to get going and hands are pretty inconsistent. Body catches a lot which I do not like at all. He's. Big body. Deep threat seems to separately fast in games, though. I think the combines can be big for Harry, and I don't think it's going to be very kind to him either. There are a few issues that will need to clean up. His hands is release some his route running, but especially finishing out routes, which I I hated it's almost like you gave up at the some routes, and maybe that's part of that head fake thing. You're talking about. But I got a seventy on him. So we are in the ballpark. We're a high third round grade on Nikial hairy, which most people don't have. Yeah. I mean, I think you look at his frame, and you just assume he's going to be a first round pick. And he put up some numbers in college. But he seemed to disappear in big games. It was frustrating because they just part of it wasn't his fault part of it was that they didn't know how to use them. And it was basically just okay, run deep, and we'll throw it to you. And if he didn't get the ball early in games, he just checked out. So not somebody. I would want to investor first round pick and for sure. Yeah. Me neither. All right. Next up. Here's AJ Brown at ole miss. AJ Brown takes backseat lining up across from decay Metcalf. But it was the rebels leading ride receiver last season. He's got strong hands not afraid to take a hit in the middle of the field. He's got the body type of an outside receiver. But he plays inside in the slot. He's a pretty good route runner, though, the changes direction isn't nearly as crisp as you would like to see it ran the slot a lot. So like you talked about with Harry, he didn't get pressed a lot either. He doesn't really have the speed to play outside, but has the body to win inside with the footwork help them get open as well. There's a team that's going to Bank on the upside here. But at the position and only one year of starting experience, I got my questions especially at the beginning and ends of his routes for slot guy like to see a little bit more from Brown and few years. Maybe he could be something. But right now there is some like about him, but not a ton of the plan should be to get him to clean up his release refined some of the shortcomings run him in the slot. And I hope team doesn't try to. Run out on the outside. Just because you know, he's got the size to be outside receiver. I'd rather somebody keep him as a big inside threat because outside would just be a bad move. I've got a low third round grade on AJ Brown. I gave him a seventy three I like Brown. I thought he was a pretty good route runner uses his long strides eat up ground in the middle of the field. Browns pretty much always open from the slot. In the middle of the field uses lengthened frame news advantage catches pretty much everything. And I thought he showed pretty good speed. He does not make many plays outside. Most of his plays are made from the slot..

"I think that was twelve to get to seven, right? How about I think? This would be great Kentucky linebacker. Josh allen. Yes. Like if you have to Allen's on the team that it's first initial what if they have the same first initial than it's maybe the full name. What if they have the same full name? Ed, Oliver defensive tackle Houston. What are we going to be doing here? Like if this happens. What are we doing probably something like that? Is there an guy that makes more sense than maybe they maybe they do that probably it's defense, right? Or you're gonna pick a wide receiver at six or an offensive lineman. It as much as there are like there's a there's a pool of receivers that I think are respectable. This is what proposal told us yesterday. And this is what I've read. Already about the draft. Because I've been thinking about receivers just the bills are gonna need receivers that there probably isn't a guy in the top ten, but there's a pool of guys from like the middle of the first round through it's pretty deep. So they're not they're not gonna take a receiver at six. I I mean, I just can't believe that they would do that is the guy AJ Brown. I don't think. So I'm looking at his he's the highest rated receiver. I see on the first rankings. I'm looking at ever for the two thousand nine hundred draft. I don't think that's him because his his bio doesn't say anything about this injury. Maybe they had maybe I pick dot com. Updated it. Maybe they did. All right. "I think he projects as a future starter potentially on the outside. Mike Edwards, I think, does have some starting potential as well a little bit undersized, but to be a starter. But I think he can fit as apoe safety in the NFL. So that'll be a fun match up going back to ole miss and LSU AJ Brown decay, Metcalf DaMarcus lodge. I mean, this is receiving core is absolutely loaded with that trio Metcalf lines up on the outside to the left AJ Brown, only slot player for all miss. And then DeMarcus lodge lines up on the outside to the right. So I don't think we're gonna see AJ Brown greedy Williams because they don't really move greedy Williams into the slot, at least from what we've seen so far from LSU, but greed Williams, we'll have his hands full. I mean, decay. Metcalf. He's got his flaws. He's not a great runner right now, but this kid is slick with his releases off, press cover. Age, and he's an explosive athlete and a large, powerful, man. I mean, he's got a ridiculous physical skill set. So this'll be a fun match up between decay Metcalf and greedy Williams on the outside. We might see a greedy against the Marcus largest well who can also run, but this is going to be a really fun matchup on the perimeter with greeny Williams against that duo of receivers there with all miss. And then speaking of ole miss one guy who used to be their last year, transferred out is van Jefferson. He's at Florida. Now. Son of former NFL receiver and current receivers coach, at least for the Jaguars of Shawn Jefferson. Van Jefferson is a pretty talented kid. You could lineup inside and outside. I did that for ole miss last year. He's got some suddenness twelve. He's a pretty crafty route runner going up against Mississippi State this week, and they've got a talented secondary upperclassmen Laden secondary Jamal Peters at corner. Jonathan Abram at free safety Clark is another safety there. So that's an interesting battle there between Florida and Mississippi State as well. Oh line versus d. line. What are some of the ones you're watching there? Yeah, we're gonna go back to the Florida Mississippi State game..
