"Shag is here for good sports. And now a man who went from digging and crawlspaces is to making documentaries about safe-space Adam Corolla get it on got to get it on a church and then on. Did you get on Matt for Tuning in and love that about you. Good Day Gina Grad and in a business but no ethics. We gotTA HAVE A J Benza coming in love that guy and if I say. Aj Bain twice. You'll forgive me because I work on movies with him. Sometimes he writes all these books and all that well he famously wrote go like Hell. Well how do the name. I just came from forty Ferrari. Okay we'll get a bollywood on that round of days. Some good movies in theaters. I want people to know that Wells House we head toward the holidays. People are going to get a little time off to do that. So I Speaking of movies and Ford v Ferrari and everything thing else I had a situation over the weekend where I was going to be at the Burbank. AMC and No safe spaces is a showing there. And they're holding over so you can continue to go there and expanding around the country but I was going to talk up the movie before the movie started and then I was going to talk about the next movie. Six forty and the first one is like four twenty and then we had the And then I I was gonNA take sunny to see for be for our Cinerama Dome or or whatever. It is Cinerama Dome but in the I'm extra Max. Yeah I'd like to see that night maxine edit couple. I had a couple of days and I saw a dinky screening but still impressive. I had a couple things going on. I think I I am a pattern person. I am pattern pattern pattern. I learn everything I learned from patterns and You guys just missed Dr Drew. But he was sitting in here and I just sat went. Need to know what was up with his shoes because he was wearing sort of leathery. Black shoes you probably might not notice your addresses nicely. oftentimes sometimes he's casual or whatever but I had to. What's the story with the shoes? Were and explain that he's traveling. He's doing a speaking engagement. These are the shoes he's GonNa wear when he puts a suit online and whatever and has gone from August brother. I understand what the shoes now need. Answers on Shoes I. The porcelain punisher famously came in here with a pair of tennis shoes one day and I needed answers on his shoes. I need answers because I study patterns little things. Throw me so I said to sunny over the weekend. I'm going to the Burbank Cinema. I'm going to bring Out safety words friend no safe space for twenty and then again at six forty and then I'm going to seven o'clock ticket and we're going to go see Ford V. Ferraris and I thought as a is a is a normal loving in nurturing parent. High should give my daughter the opportunity to pass on this experience with running first of all credit for the pickup. She's GonNa Pass. I'll give her oh give her. I'll give her. I'll give her a chance and so I went into her bedroom on Thursday and I said an Italian. We're going to go see Ford v Ferrari and she seeing in billboards everywhere. She's kind of equipped and some. There's not a lot of buzz at the Corolla House about the docs making but from what I provide. She's gleaned that I did afford for our movie and that there's a shelby Z.. Knows this much. And she kind of knows about Matt Damon and so she's Yeah Matt Damon and and and also by the way that twenty four hour. Wars now trending on Netflix. It it was in. The populist is whatever whatever pile on Netflix which is good. But so I said METALLICA. Do you want to go to some chilling with me and sunny on Saturday night. And she said Ed yes. Tell you. Don't WanNa go with us do you. She said yes and I said now. Are you sure you got nothing going on Saturday tonight. And she goes yes I would like to go to the movie and I said O K o not buying it oh dear then I went in into work on Friday and I said Matt Goto Fandango and wrestle a third seat next to me and sunny because now Natalia wants to go and she said Oh he said okay. We got the ticket and I went on Friday and I said a timer going Saturday night right. She said Yup and Then at some point I think it was later Friday. She was gone and I was like. Where's Italian then? At some point she came home in the second she came home home. I got up and I walked straight to room and opened the door and I said you still WanNa go Saturday night right and she went ooh about that. I got a party Saturday night and and I was like I knew that now matt go cancel sent man and even cancel the ticket now. I literally was sitting my Sofa. I'd asked her three times. She said yes every retiring but just because she said yes didn't mean now. I thought she was no. That wasn't a firm yes and and it would have been with sunny right so and it was a firm. Yes I calibrate everybody. There's some people the more yeses the more no it becomes off -solutely Oh totally. Oh Man I can't wait this this is gonna well. It's also also I will oftentimes tell Matt Put It dinner and Asa Kevin Han. She wants to get a steak on on Sunday night right on Monday. And then Kevin all right back money. See it more than six o'clock Sunday night and I go okay and then at some point Madel addle say on on Friday of that week send a reminder to handle now not everyone else yes hinch no. He said six six o'clock Sunday she'll be six o'clock Sunday. And if you get there if I can there at five fifty nine. He's not there if I get there at six O two and he's he's he's not there he got into an accident. That's that's the way it rolls but we have this exact same situation this weekend off friend of ours. Mr Birthday. Par Birthday dinner for some reasons. Looks like her and her husband not to dinner. We said Friday. How's that sound? We'll let you know if we can get a sitter radio silence. This is like Monday said Christie. I'm at Christie's like I guess that's going to be for two two on. No no no no. We will hear the Friday night. It's supposedly dinner will hear them time around noon on Friday noon on Friday. Can't wait for dinner tonight. Great some people people. Just you know that's going to be within six hours a day the worst because there was a whiff of canceled plans the greatest. That's why welcome this week. Relief of data the cancel plans so it was weighing heavily and it was literally Point Arrive Sitting on my sofa and I heard her come home. Walk into a room and I I in there like I need to know. And she's like you're right no that's okay but all's right in the world and then I had this experience and could we I don't know don't you gotta fix this. I had a four twenty was the four twenty was the first movie I knew I could get from my house to the movie theater in about twenty minute so I gave myself a little extra time. Got Sunny started heading to the movie theater and the one thirty four freeway to the five ramp was closed. And it had diverted everyone off on the Su- drive and turn around and whatever and had to go the other way and then these are things they could put it on the big electronic frequent shine rather than click it or ticket and then when I got to Burbank. There's like some sort of street festival there closing streets whether it was just traffic it was just traffic and and I now am taking my phone and I'm giving it. I'm having anxiety now because I'm supposed to start this movie by walking out in front of the movie the House. They're waiting for you but they also might not wait for you. It's sold out. I don't know what the protocol is. They just start when they start. That movie's coming up behind it. They can't hang too long. I'm I'm throwing the phone to sunny telling text the guy tell them off the freeway Blah Blah. We're supposed to get there. You're going to be four minutes late about Blah. It's some point. I'm now doing the crazy ways where I've gotten off the freeway zoo drive and I'm trying to finish my way to this part of Burbank. Going down side streets straights and whatever and at some point. There's a big pickup truck and it's turning right and I'm like I gotta get there. I gotta get out of the car. I hope my can find parking at the step above and I start the car the truck turns right and it turns right kind of in to the left lane just like a wide right and I turned right. It's sort of a tighter right. And then it started to flow back into my lane and I did this move right just sped up one around here. Come the brides here. Come here come the high beans and then you get over the freeway. Now we're parked awaiting. He's back he's behind me again. More high beams more lights and then pulls up next to me gives me the look like what kind of maniac look and it's like you have no idea where I'm going. I didn't get near you. I didn't do anything I'm just. I have to go open a movie. Is that it okay. Is there a more flaccid yell at you moved and the lights on and do the horn the finger showed. We're kind of joke for this for stand up. They're different came together. But is there a more flaccid like you know. Oh Bright Lights. Bright Lights is the middle of the day. It was light outside. He shot me the lights from a long long-distance when I passed them. Then of course fate would have pulled up behind me the long signal and then when he pulled up behind me he flashed again. And then as you're taking off he flashing again. It's like all right. I'm willing to hit the open road with the knowledge that some people may get around me or do something that I didn't sign off on before I got onto the car into the car. Is that okay with you or must everything. Also what exactly are we doing here. I I saw you. I went around. You realize not affected in any way. We're both the same light. Ironically t-bone you you wouldn't give me the flash you could but I didn't touch you. I didn't hit you. I didn't cut you off nothing happened. May We go about this. And you're not familiar with my particular story. My Hi particular story is is. I'm not late because there's a band that's playing in the Quad Burbank. Whatever and I love Scott Scott Music? I have to run the movie out and it's late in the freeway that you don't know about. I just got pushed off the freeway that you don't know about any of this stuff. Who would what if I had a kid with cancer or something and I was rushing the hospital or something and God willing so then and bride? When you say that's a flaccid move was pissed because as you emasculated him? I'd have the goddamn dignity. Honk your horn back. Lay I then then I got to Burbank or the festival going and just went. Part that circular now is there anything more anxiety producing than your behind. Two cars. Keep stopping and waiting waiting for people to pull out very slowly get around the super PAC parking structure and I'm looking at the clock. This movie started five minutes ago. What what was the deal and I just seem flaky? That and so certain point I just pull after going around five times going down to the fourth level. I literally pull in front of a stairwell often like the weird side where the stand yellow standards are I get out of the car. I hit the hazards goofy. That gives Sonny the keys. And I stand standby standby this car and start running running up the stairs running. So I'm like I don't know what you're GONNA do. But if they try to tow this car laid out done it. I've driven off just staying here protect. Protect Your House your car how legacies your legacy and I just took off started. Running ran up the stairs. Got In theater like all sweaty course. They wouldn't let me into the theater ticket. Talk the thing up and then Well what had they held the movie. Did they have to stop it..

"Back to the toolbox they call them England Dan because he faked a British British accent and he loved the Beatles sometimes the truth is stupid and yet been awhile not the about you I'm not sure why I just wanted to talk to you and I was thinking lately later on we could get together for a while then in such a spa you walk from Corolla One studios in Glendale California this this is the Adam Corolla show Adams guest today Matt Damon and Christian Bale with Gina Grad on News Bald Bald Bryan on sound effects and around the rotten tomatoes game and now we can go back to laughing at ball Brian and Adam Karol on got to get it on no choice at all to an end thanks I sharing pick show playing today good day Gina Grant handled right I'm GonNa Make Fun you later we can't forget that all right so couple things first off I heard that song for I'm not talk England Dan and John Ford Coley that's super-popular when I was eleven or something and I never got the I'm not talking about moving in guy I'd never move in moving in didn't mean anything to me like I'm talk inbound moving up moving stuff right I'm not gonNA rent tra- but I do WANNA come uh-huh over to not do something that rhymes with truck my whole life I'm not talking about Meridian what I couldn't I didn't know what moving in growing up with star wars obviously was not talking about millennium moving in it's a weird thing this horn into that melodic whatever and it's very pelote Hawaii when you're writing a song anyway so much I got a subtle Mike August story I have a little bit effective either hair question yes is this story that you're Harris telling that you just jumped in the pool I did I did go in the Pool Gel Jail Jalen wet from the pool it is wet from the pool and there is this is a genus of you're correct it is now now I'm now at the point when I'm I swim with my head out on the way to the deep end and there's down steam coming out of my mouth that I'm at that point where I'm blowing the steam out and then then it's underneath for the underwater swim to the other the other end because it is now officially cold outside the night right where I am all right so so much to get into Mike thing so I'm GonNa rely on you guys with a with a lean toward ball Brian well I'm GonNa talk to James Mangold today and if you have a question I will feel that in or he will feel that I'll set it up to him so I am going later today when we hang up here to the Petersen Automotive Museum and I'm going to interview Matt Damon and Christian Bale and James Mangold and then will marry it to this show and then you guys show show here that in theory I always wore I always have this there's always he's a little part of my mind that goes one of them's going to be there somebody got sick or somebody whatever but we are going and I am going to go talk to those guys it's about this movie that for I've been thinking about for a number of years because I was involved with it now it's a little bit tricky because the book walk go like hell which is a AJ Bain book who's a really good writer arsenal of democracy these are very good books very very informative books feature throughout the documentary right he was the guy who was kind of telling the story and the twenty four hour war that book was optioned for years his go like hell book was optioned for years and then at the end they didn't renew it and then they made the movie so it's a little that doesn't and sounds a little bit of a lawsuit floating around and I don't I don't know if anyone wants to go down that probably bring that up with that that's your so so and then the doc I made had aj in it was based loosely on the book so it's it's it's it's it's an interesting kind of cross pollination position there so there's that to get into perhaps or not also and I don't know if you guys have any Christian Bale questions or Matt Damon Questions uh-huh but if you if you'd like what a down at some point I'll bring with you and I'll try to weave it in the question for James Mangold James Mangold who do you think is hotter Matt Damon naming her Christian Bale sorry so then the subtle Micah and then we'll we'll play rotten tomatoes and do the news as well we'll try to cobble the whole Show together now the Funny Subtle Mike August I'm very interested in people not knowing doing what I'm asking or what I'm talking about or what I mean there's sometimes he'll say to people you know like you'll it you'll say to somebody oh how do you want that steak and go well done and they'll go well you want a ton of steak geico basic misunderstanding of just the fact why would I ask like now I know university the next sense everything just context context context context context you know what people do you know kind of the rhythms of what they're saying they invert things they flip flop things they speak and the wrong name comes out of the mouth but you know who were talking about do you know what I mean what we're I feel like when you're tuned in you don't you don't have to stop people time and if there's somebody if there's somebody name Dave and somebody's talking fast about Dave and Dave's late Dave showed up and David at some point they go then I come back and dancer sitting in the lobby is I is not even say that person like a new story I know the context I know what you're talking about I follow I'm listening I so how many people like Oh what they stopped I said to we're sitting on a flight to Vegas and I said to Mike How's your wife's insurance business us doing and he said that's all right just kind of breaking even or whatever his wife Doreen she real nice lady and she's she's a hard worker her and I liked that and I said she going in every day and he goes oh yeah she's six days going six days a week Monday through through Friday and She goes in on Sunday and I said her she goes in on Sunday why not when going on Saturday and he goes you've got to have one day off be with the kids like I'm not saying why not seven days a week you crave I'm like why does your wife work every single day all the time I'm saying it's weird to go into the office on Sunday versus a lot of people put in a Saturday right and then Sunday's with the Lord's death so when I said when he she goes in on Sunday night go why not Saturday he's like you got to have one day the question is why Sunday no Saturday not why not Saturday to say see I didn't burn the calories of saying instead Sunday Lear uh-huh right because I think you know the yeah I would never say to anybody why does your spouse work every single day why would never say by by the way juxtapose the my wife are you kidding me I'd be judging but they're still one day in the week she could be working she's leaning she can be Clean Lina so I don't burn the calories of saying why not this instead of that I can just go why not Saturday because within this conversation you should know what I mean you shouldn't yeah that is me saying why doesn't she work every single that that's absurd premise grandma also coming from me because I do that I don't know I know people like my wife doesn't work other people's wives do work like I never go like every why's your wife working every single day my wife's on the roof of our house right now writing asphalt every damn night and also so it is peculiar to work five days a week and Sundays that's also you know the context of this question because you you you phrased it this way right so what I say what's wrong with Saturday I cannot be about doing it seven days a week after we talk about the norm which is a lot of people do work Saturdays Saturdays but rarely is anyone on this ladder we cut to home in August is his wife like how was the trip out almost every day of the week Jesus Jesus Christ at a yellow talk about why you don't work enough do you ever adjust for your audience since you know what you're getting when you deal with Mike I yeah that's really on you and it's many years come on I felt like this was pretty I think it's it's rare that people have a pattern where they you just go into work on Sunday and not on Saturday unless there's some religious some religions involved and just you know he just said Saturday when when I yelled at him and then we drilled down a little too said Saturday's more the kids activities name which is a fine answer I'm just saying he picked a weird rhythm I questioned why should the rhythm to bring it to a normal rhythm which is some people do work Saturdays and I didn't feel like I need but evidently I I must learn the lesson I did valuable lesson from this I try to save a couple syllables going in and then I wasted complaining when he when he screws it up if you're GONNA pay for those double that's right all right so I also apropos to something which is our drive to the airport can we make a rule two we make a rule that when you're driving at a fast pace on a on a street street a main street like thirty five miles an hour speed limit if you're gonNA go fifty on that street which by the way I encourage and harassed by why but if you're going to be hauling ass like on occasion there's the street out in front of US people will haul ass three you'll be poking out to turn right they're coming at you in the distance fat you're not allowed to honk go hey what's up yeah because you're driving and increase speed that is closing this thing up faster right so you're allowed to drive fast but you can't have an attitude about it because the reason we're having this little issue poking out your coming up on me because you're going twice as to speed limit so we're on the way to the airport I'm in the left lane we're doing thirty four thirty five I start to go into the right lane gene and as I start to go I see my review someone's doing fifty like they're coming up fast so I go right back into my life I don't get into the lane I start it to go there I don't even know if I break the line and then I slide back into whatever as the person passes me they lay on the horn and give me the look now hey bitch I fixed it I fixed it i George or something and then I went back I saw you I went back still the necessity the honk as you're going by it was awesome though that a few moments later they got caught up in a left turn lane and laying on the horn good then on the way the retribution horn back on the way back Mike was like poking out of the jets we'd X. Parking parking lot or whatever and there was kind of a weird intersection where you think there'd be a stop sign but there wasn't so mike was like poking out and then he was like Oh this is there is no stop sign and he stopped the car and then the guy who went and turned just came the stink guy in game the horn the whole time I'm saying when you fix your behavior you should not be allowed to honk at that behavior was corrected right hornsby punitive I fucked up and you've got to know about it or like hey watch out thereabouts again deal there's no sour necessary sooner or that kind of thing I hope you learned your lesson right well it strange when you're speeding and someone's going to slide into the lane in front of you being me.

"Flight talked about maybe i'll run for president is far magazine 80s harry truman really kind of came out of nowhere some of our listeners were a little bit more pointed about at connor wrote on our facebook page truman actually had morals and extensive government experience i kind of wonder if even this search for historical parallel has a connotation to it of either trying to i don't know maybe make donald trump seem like the kind of thing that just happens in american political history or whether or not he really is a genuinely unique presidential figure oh i think he is a genuine area i certainly in my lifetime i don't know that there's any i can't think of any time in history that we've experienced anything like this um you want to go into the it's really to me what sheds light on the trump presidency is the contrast between truman and trump the set up there so some somebody many similarities it's uncanny but when you begin to contrast these characters it really sheds light on both of them and to wooded what is to be a very wonderful way well we are exploring those comparisons and contrast with aj bain the author of the accidental president harry s truman and the four months the changed the world we welcome your questions and thoughts as well plenty history buffs common thing to us about president truman we welcome more of it email us one a at w a m u dot org comments on our facebook page tweet us at one a john writes this book is added to my to read list what i liked about truman was that he did not shy away from an overpowering and obnoxious individual like general macarthur and fired him outright truman got the ball rolling by officially recognizing israel in nineteen 48 i believe he also as we know use nuclear weapons for the first time and this also remains a subject of debate can you dig into that general we'll get to the rest of.
