"And even the contract that the term of the contract, it is not as onerous because the oil is burning their window now and triceps got two years left on a steal McDavid three. Say they in the craziest worst case nightmare scenario for Euler's and their fans, both those guy, both those guys leave well, your four of Carlson, who cares the team is pretty much in this disarray anyway, right? So we're focused on those two, three years. Yeah, it'll be tough to make it work. I still think it'll be very tricky in the short term to make it work. But if it did, I mean, that would be a big win for the mothers. Okay. Well, I want to talk about how they can make a work in the logistics of that after the break. We'll take our break here, Daniel, and then when we come back, we'll keep chatting about all that. You are listening to the hockey PDO cast streaming on the sportsnet radio network. All right, we're back here in the hockey PDO cast talking about a potential air Carlson trade and the oilers interest level in it with Daniel and jabo and Daniel. So the reason why I wanted to spend the first half of the show talking purely about the fit in terms of what he would look like on the ice is because for all the potential sort of hurdles that would need to be cleared financially and in terms of making a trade like this work logistically, it's certainly more complicated than a lot of NHL trades we see. Especially the deadline where they're generally pretty, pretty simplified, especially compared to other sports. I will see you though, where there's a will, there's a way. And I think if the oilers were fully convinced internally that Eric Carlson was the player they needed and the best possible upgrade they could have. I don't think it would be as nearly as big of an issue as we're making it out to be. I think part of the problem for them here is because and you can correct me if I'm wrong is that internally they're buried divided on whether it's enough of an upgrade to make a move like this. I think that's partially the case. I would also say with due respect to Ken hall and I don't know if there's been a lot of moves that he's made, especially in the cap era that have been very nontraditional. But light week. You know, I mean, he did as general manager of the red wings. Again, this was a draft trade, but ironically, you know, move out to money to clear some cap room, give up the first round pick, which ultimately was used on Jacob's chicken. You know, as the oilers GM, he has some other than retaining money in the lucha trade, which was a necessary evil to get out from that contract and get a contract and James Neal that could be bought out. I don't believe well, I think there was

"Play so much on the power play and even at 5 month 5, the velocity that the best offense is the best defense is a good offense, right? So, and the oilers do struggle despite their elite power play. And their top ten in the league and 5 one 5 scoring. They struggle to move the puck out of the zone. Who's better in the league than Erik Carlson doing that. And you look and you watch, I'm not sure how much you're able to watch the game last night between those and red wings, but there were a few times where Connor McDavid and Leon draisaitl were gathering speed out of their own zone, looking for a breakout pass and were missed. They always like to park twice when they had clear cut. Clear possession of the pocket led the goals in their often suing face offs. That's an area that they can improve on. And there's no one and no one better than an air Carlson who can do that. So to me, again, not a guy that I thought of, but the more I think about it, it could work. It's just the money and the assets that they would have to move and to be able to kind of make the trade work that seemed to be the biggest kind of hold up for me. Well, let's take those things one at a time. I'm with you that I didn't initially think about it just because I think as recently as a couple months ago, it would have seemed reasonably unfathomable that Eric also would move anywhere, right? Like it was kind of the contract to use you to so prohibitive in terms of the future commitment. Regardless of what he did, it would just be a no go for anyone, especially with how fly the cap has been, and then how it tied up against it, everyone is. And I think, you know, we should start with as a testament to the type of year in the caliber of play of the level of play. He's been at from the start. That he's reached this point where it's a legitimate discussion, right? Like I think he's gonna win the Norris, I believe. And justifiably, so if you look, he's got 6 more 5 one 5 points than any other skater, not just defenseman in the league he's on a pace for like a 110 points. And so I think we can get into all the minutia of his game and what he'll bring to the table. And I think that is actually a really interesting part of this conversation, right? Because initially, at first blush, a lot of the pushback, I think, as well, boilers have enough skill on their team, like goal scoring isn't a problem for them. They need better defenders, right? I think that's kind of like the thought process that people have typically chosen or the stands they've taken, and that's why they've been linked to guys like a lot of slav gavrikov and Joel edmondson. But it's interesting they've also been linked quite a bit, I think. At various points to John clayburg and Shane goss's bear, right?

"Welcome to the hockey PDO cast. My name is Amy treville povich and joining me is my good buddy Daniel Newton Bowman. Daniel, what's going on man? Just a nice winter day here at Edmonton. So I can't complain. The toxic nature. Yeah, yeah. It's great to have you on. Finally, able to coordinate having you on the show for the first time after numerous botched attempts, mostly on my end and just scheduling conflicts. And we're going to do some air Carlson wish casting here. So sign me up for this conversation. Sounds great. I want to just unpack everything with you like fully investigate. The reasons why the oilers should be in on this or potentially shouldn't. Logistics, how feasible it is, all of that. I know that once the initial report came out over the weekend, you were quick to douse it with cold water. And I'm kind of curious to get into that with you and hopefully, sure. Over the next 50 minutes, I'm going to be able to lure you over to the dark side and really get you to be on my side of this, the conversation. So let's get right into it. What do you think is the most interesting component of this from the oilers perspective in terms of the consideration or in terms of what we should be thinking about when we're considering this topic? Yeah, you know, Dimitri it's funny because all these names that I've been hearing all year, you know, Gabriel cough and edmondson and through lesser extension Jacob tricker and I think we'll probably get into him later. I know the oilers have had some interest, but really he's not a guy that they're from my understanding, they're super interested in. I never really thought of Eric Carl said. And for the reasons of the contract, the age, you know, obviously it's having a tremendous year this season. Probably will win the north trophy, but the previous two or three below his standards, I would say. And, you know, when you look at the makeup of the oilers team, you know, they have that in Bouchard, they have Tyson berry,

"He's been on the or he's a point on 20 of them. He's been on the ice for 33 of them. They're up 33 to 28 with him. They're down 37, 17 without him. And the most amazing stat of all for me is they have 71 all situations goals as a team so far this year. And he's been on the ice for 50 of them. Now you mentioned how they're using them in situationally, especially in all of those higher leverage scoring opportunities. So of course that's baked into it as well. But I mean, it's still mind boggling to think about the fact that the sharks team in 860 all situations minutes without air Carlson disease and has managed to kind of cobble together 18 total goals scored. I mean, that's a mind boggling stat to me. Yeah, no, it sure is, and so I mean, I would say that the sharks are definitely going back to the carlsen Bernstein. The way weaker without burns. I mean, yes, you know, Carlson, again, you know, is benefiting a little bit from sort of the priority he gets, you know, without burns around, but the sharks really need a kind of an all around number two defender. And they traded a sort of that number two defender away in burns burns, you know, wanting to go to Carolina, of course. They would have kept burns, but burns wanted to stay. And so I think that I think the team is definitely the weaker floor, even if Carlson's point and totals may be a little less gaudy without burns around, but the team would be better if they were both still here and both playing at a high level. Yeah, okay, well let's stick with Carlson. So I was mentioning to my eye how this is the best he's looked in a long time. You know, I think where that extra, it feels like he has an extra jump in his steps so far this season, at least at the start of the year, I'm not sure how much of that was him just finally being healthy, how much of it was having a good off season of trading and just kind of actually being in really good shape physically heading into the season. But for me where it's really manifested is seeing how on the breakout he's back to all of a sudden being that kind of cheat code and transition right where the F one attacks him on the four chick and he's able to beat that guy on the breakout and then push the puck up the ice and actually enter the offensive zone himself and you can see that I think other teams are acknowledging that he's kind of back to where he was because they're giving him that respect of you see him enter the zone and the defender is just back off immediately because they're actually worried about him beating them either out wide or through the middle with his speed, which he's done a couple of times so far this season when they've kind of not sagged off.

"Now at the same time, you mentioned he was doing a lot of this stuff before and it just wasn't really getting picked up because the goal, the puck wasn't going in as much for him and his teammates. He's looked really good this year. I think he's playing with a lot of that style and flare again and yesterday against Detroit. He's doing like a between the legs, no look, drop pass back to a teammate for a one timer. He's doing stuff that's just like reminiscent of when air Carlson will just kind of yellowing it and doing and one stuff early in his career. And that's really fun to see. I think we all benefit from that as NHL fans. He's 33 in May. I think if San Jose could somehow be talking to retaining half of his salary, 5.75 million prayer for the next four years, isn't that egregious? I think it's fine. Whether San Jose would be willing to do that and what it would cost as a dead cap casualty basically to facilitate that. Remains to be seen. I'm skeptical. I know that they ate a bunch of money on brands, but this is an entirely different animal in terms of how much money that would take. And you're right. It would help positionally in terms of a right shot defenseman for them, but what they need is they need John Moreno, right? They need someone who can actually help bridge the gap in terms of the things that the rest of their players don't do well enough right now. And Carlson right now is just not really that. I don't want to say it's more of the same of what they have because he clearly make them better and adding a player across his caliber to the any roster would help and make it a more entertaining product. But in a way, I think they'd be much better off using whatever resources it would take to make that happen on someone who might not be as flashy and might not be as good of a feel good story, but would make their team better and more subtle ways. Yeah, you know, I mean, maybe in the off season we'll be talking about when teams have more caps that are polluted up for that kind of move. Maybe there will be some options that are looking persuasive. But I mean, for the time being, I think he might be stuck in San Jose for the foreseeable future, which is too bad, but at the same time, I mean, like you alluded to, he's playing with confidence he's making all these flashy moves and playing with flair. It's kind of a little bit easier to make those risky moves and really kind of take control when you don't have the pressure of actually winning hockey games in front of you. So it may be that even if we do have to watch Eric Carlson wind down his career in San Jose, at least maybe he could do it with some style and some flash and keep playing himself in the north conversations because Aki is better when he's there.

"You know, and I want kotkaniemi to be doing Valerie nushin stuff with his range and speed. And just a battle winning ability. His raw battle winning ability this season has been stand out every time I've watched the games play. Yep. I'm with you there. I love Martin H's. Okay. Let's do another listener question here. So I actually go in. From Matthew haymes here asks, favorite defensive D man, quote unquote, who isn't very tall or big. I think we kind of answered that with Mikey Anderson Martin fehri bari. Yeah, yeah. Connor Clifton. Let's keep going here. Do you want to do a better bought air Carlson? I got a few Eric Carlson questions people just wanting us to talk about them. Sure. The sharks. Well, they're a team. No, Eric goes in. 32 goals this season. He has ten of them. And he's been on the ice for 24 of the 32. Unreal. I just wanted to give her a call. It's great. It's great to see him. I love to see. He's moving so well. He actually legitimately looks healthy. I think someone's going to get him at 50% retained. Here's the thing, I don't think. So I think when I add, it's too much. I think maybe we underrate for these pro athletes, how much being healthy in the off season? My matter in terms of coming into the season, not already nursing stuff. I think John Tavares is another great example of this where I thought looked quite horrible physically last year. He was still effective down low and kind of like the classic JT area. But watching him move around the pot we're trying to do anything in space was painful. Yeah, cement boots. And now all of a sudden not that he's a burner, but he's actually moving around and it opens up so many different plays for him when he's not just relying on like posting up or doing the hockey equivalent of a person, right? Like he can actually step outside. And so I think a similar thing going on with crawls in there where I imagine he had a pretty good off season in terms of training and feeling good about himself physically and that's translated. "Thank you eric carlson. Just because of all the nonsense ended up with from the carlson deals. Doug doug wilson would sure love it. If carlson actually did once again become one of the best players in the world because he's paying him to be one of the best players in the world that quote man is. There's no upside with its tv. There's no upside. If you're a media guy you were just talking about that. Where they they need stuff to click. They need headlines to got to come up with a story early in the year they got. They got a glomming onto something here right because it's the it's the sort of dull days of of hockey. The first twenty games right until things begin to suss themselves out you know. There's been some suspensions little early know all seems to be kind of more than i thought. Normally early in the season here with guys going a little ape shit headbutting slot. You know slashing cross-checking throat and all that stuff sound like don cherry cross-checking drought so there's no upside. There's just no upside all you're doing. The the upside is for the media guys going. This is fantastic. This is fantastic that we get to say. Hey you guys lost again last night as the player in the world. Would you like to give a little little little little idea of what happened there last night as the best player in the world sound like norm macdonald some degree. It's semantics but i know what you're saying. He could have saved himself any of this. By just saying i'd like to get back to where i was and then the world can decide what that was. It would mean the same thing. Get it but you didn't need to say wanna play at the level i've been exp- the the level expected to play out of myself and of the fans and of the ownership boba so air. Carlson is the last captain. The ottawa senators have had he left in the fall of twenty eighteen right before the season started. I was traded away to san jose. And since then no captain and brady could shock is going to be the next captain. Could chuck will make his season debut after a long contract. Hold out you'll tell suit up against carlson and the sharks the evening and So he was. Of course the guy everybody wanted to talk to the media today and had had this trump for a while now and Definitely.

"And certainly even more so for a who's never had fifty points in a single season but certainly everybody in ottawa. It's pretty pumped about the re-signing of brady ca chuck. Who will be the next captain when we're not sure. But what was your thoughts and hearing about that deal but as you know i didn't like the whole idea. I never do hold outs. I think they're selfish. I i really side on the towards the team when it comes to trying to sign players right especially for huge dole right And and that's the obvious story all the time you know where i don't really give a shit about a kid who's trying to negotiate for one point five two one seven and might have to take one three If you can believe it it's like okay. That's just shit money. Well no. That's not bad but but these big contracts for these superstars Just it immediately makes me not like them. You know until. I heard the kid after he signed until i heard him in his post signing press conference online or whatever however he was doing that interview. I thought this kid is really cool. This is really cool. It was They've asked him about it. And he sorta didn't talk about the dough too much talked about what it meant for his family and phoning people and i got to like it. I got to like it was cool. Yeah yeah that's part of why people are excited about it. There were fans impatient with the process. And that he's missing training camp missing some of the regular season now and people didn't really know what was going on or what was being offered or rejected so just out of impatience. I think people began to turn on him but this is the reality of sports today. You can't really get worked up one way or the other right about money. This is what the market value of this particular player was and the sends to some degree or paying for potential because if he stays the is first three years in the nhl if he stays like that player to there at the entire contract. It's probably a bit of overpay but the guy brings so many intangibles. It just seems like if you're going to big money to somebody that's a pretty safe bet there even when the guy's not scoring points right winning points on the board he still a major asset with just the shift disturbing the leadership and he will be their next captain. I think the only question there now is as we kind of transition because it's getting to be an old story for most of the people listening auto is one. He'll be captain his peer dory on went on tv on sunday afternoon in the dallas game and which they won by the way And he basically said yeah. We're gonna we're gonna think about this some more and we're not sure exactly what we're going to name a captain. Everybody knows it's brady could shock and you've known for months it just wasn't announced because of the whole long negotiation process so everybody's kind of scratching their head going. Well he's now going to make his debut. This thursday with the former captain. Eric carlson in the san jose sharks in town. I can't imagine a better time to kind of pass the torch then that night but i don't know it doesn't sound like they're really anxious to name a captain. They'll they'll do at some point this year but this is gonna take their time. They say well see the last captain of of the the sense not to captain for a number of years since yet two thousand eighteen air. Carlson left they haven't had a captain since well. Maybe they should because they've been terrible. You know so..

"So obviously right off the top of the sixteen year old he's gonna kinda spark interest He had a slower first half and a six year old year and he had a very good second half sixteen year old year. And i can next remember watching a game with Rob blake us into watch. Somebody else's at all your. Here's a kid a a pretty good player and you know for next year's draft and You know so. We were aware of him as a sixteen year. Old of the top player coming into the oh l. and Have kind of enjoy watching human that year which we could have seen a more live Last year there's always a lot of speculation in any draft year. What players will be available when your team gets to pick you know. Who will they take. What's their internal ranking system. Not gonna ask reveal all of that. But from the king's perspective did brand. Clark fall to number eight you know. Were you excited. That he was still available when it was time for the kings to make their pick. Well definitely excited about getting him and You know evening out our prospect pool a little bit with the defenseman We're not picking for position. Obviously but the fact that it was in the wheelhouse where we were was was a good fit for us as well and we like player. We obviously liked them to go over our list. Obviously we're not gonna do that but You know i. It was the type of year where it wasn't surprising. Crew went in that in that first group of eight or ten. I think different people publications central scouting. Whatever had different rankings of all the players kind of after Maybe power so And i think power solidified himself at the world championships as as the the first pick in the draft but After that i think teams were vastly different. And who had what player. where so. We're happy to get him at eight and Guess are now it's our development Crew and and and our coaches that are going to get to mould him going forward. Wanna talk about that defensive. Stick that you mentioned There's a tweet a week or so ago. Bringing up eric. "Already so Tucker Carlson claimed You'll recall about a week ago that the NSA had been spying on his emails that they have been looking into his emails in his communications and that he had heard from somebody inside the NSA that the NSA had gotten control of these things, and that they were going to leak them to the press. Now. Two things can be true. Once one. Carlson could have been caught up in some sort of surveillance sweep to target American citizens. The NSA has to essentially Catch you up in a sweep with foreign citizens. So, for example, we're monitoring some sort of spy from Russia. And that person talks with an American and we end up picking up the Americans Communications because we're monitoring the spy from Russia, for example, But you specifically target an American citizen. You require a FISA surveillance warrant. You have to go to a fighter court now. Can that be gamed? Absolutely. That's exactly what happened with Carter Page. The Department of Justice, put forward a bad advisor warrants against Carter Patient and proceeded to basically monitor all of his communications and surveil him despite the fact that there was no real evidence that he was a Russian asset at all, so it's certainly possible. What appears to have happened in this particular case with Tucker is the two simultaneous things one they were monitoring foreign Intelligence officers or foreign, uh, foreign threats supposedly and those people were apparently speaking to Tucker, This is What they are claiming, and to the actual crime is if somebody leaks that material, so this raises a couple questions. One. Are we too broadly construing the surveillance statutes. Answer here is yes, in order to catch up prominent people, and then you have to unmask the people because typically in order to find out who the American citizen is on the other side of the line, you have to go through what's called the unmasking process, and this is supposed to facilitate national security. But as we saw With regard to Susan Rice and the Obama administration. In the last days of the Obama administration. They were unmasking people like Michael Flynn, specifically because they wanted to do political damage is what it looks like. So It looks like there are two separate things that could have been happening here. One surveillance of Tucker Sort of by way of accidents is what they are going to claim. But then you have to question given their prior record, whether that is an accident and to the actual leaking of the material because Tucker is suggesting not just that the NSA caught him up in some sort of surveillance sweep, but that his emails are going to be leaked to the press. Hey, this is a deep and devastating criminal activity when you have members of the so called deep state when you have members of the intelligence community, the deep state I'm not talking about some giant conspiracy, dipstick. What I'm talking about here is people who are career bureaucrats who exist inside the area of the American government where there is no effective turnover when those people decide that they're going to abuse their power. By getting access to private information and then blowing that out in public. That is a crime and the fact that we've been unable to track down people who have been leaking classified information about their fellow American citizens to the general public. Just demonstrates once again why people have a very little trust in our nation's institutions. All of this came to a head yesterday when Axios reported on it. Access reports Tucker Carlson was talking to us based at Kremlin intermediaries about setting up an interview with Vladimir Putin shortly before the Fox News host accused the N s a spying on him. Sources familiar with the conversations tell Axios Those sources said. U. S Government officials learned about Carlson's efforts to secure the Putin interview, Carlson learned that the government was aware of his outreach, and that's the basis of his extraordinary accusation, followed by a rare public denial by the NSA that he had been targeted. Now, remember when the NSA said he wasn't targeted. That doesn't mean they didn't catch him up in a surveillance sweep. If they actually have people there who are leaking his personal information that is a separate crime. The separate issue Access is not confirmed at this point, whether any communications from Carlson have been intercepted, and if so, why? And this is a really big problem, Okay, because why exactly would Tucker be caught up in some sort of surveillance sweep with regard to attempting to broker an interview? Vladimir Putin. Vladimir Putin didn't sit down interview with NBC News like a month ago, or the NBC News anchors caught up in the surveillance week where the NBC News producers caught up in their surveillance sweep. We have no evidence that they were And certainly nothing that they said was in danger of being leaked to the media. There are deep connections in Washington, D C between the media and the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party overwhelmingly dominates the bureaucratic halls of power. And so you do have this Democratic media complex where information is laundered out into the public via intelligence apparatuses. And pushed into the media. We saw this with the steel dossier, for example, which was leaked out from the federal government to sources in the media, who then just blasted it out. You'll remember that Buzzfeed news just blasted out the entire Steele dossier without Check back checking any of the claims, suggesting that it was noteworthy specifically because James Comey met with President Trump and gave him a copy of the steel dossier. This quote unquote made it newsworthy and then allowed Buzzfeed to simply blast out the allegations, which became because of the left for a Ni. A for essentially four years, people are left still claiming that the steel dossier was filled with unspoken truths are now spoken truth. According to Axios, Carlson told his roughly three million viewers on June 28th at the day before he had heard from a whistleblower within the US government reached out to warn us that the NSA is monitoring our electronic communications and is planning to leak them in an attempt to take the show off the air. Carlson said that his source was in a position to know repeated back to us information about a story we are working on. It could have only come directly from my texts and emails, Carlson said. It's illegal for the NSA to spy on American citizens. Things like that should not happen in America. Unfortunately, they do happen, and in this case they did happen. NSA said that his allegation is untrue. The question is which allegation because Tucker if he's actually wrapping up a few allegations that one is that he was caught up in that they were monitoring his communications and the other is that they were specifically targeting his communications. Not quite the same thing. One is legal One is illegal, but the leak is certainly illegal. Fox News spokesperson said. We support any of our host pursuing interviews and stories free of government interference, Carlson said. As I've said, repeatedly, because it's true, the NSA read my emails and then leak their contents..

"Already so Big story of the day is that Tucker Carlson claimed You'll recall about a week ago that the NSA had been spying on his emails that that they have been looking into his emails in his communications and that he had heard from somebody inside the NSA that the NSA had gotten control of these things, and that they were going to leak them to the press. Now two things can be true. At once. One Tucker Carlson could have been caught up in some sort of surveillance sweep to target American citizens. The Department of Justice, put forward a bad visor warrant against Carter Patient and proceeded to basically monitor all of his communications and surveil him despite the fact that there was no real evidence that he was a Russian asset at all, so it's certainly possible. What appears to have happened in this particular case with Tucker is the two simultaneous things one that they were monitoring foreign Intelligence officers or foreign, uh, foreign threats supposedly and those people were apparently speaking to Tucker, This is What they are claiming, and to the actual crime is if somebody leaks that material, so this raises a couple questions. Hey, this is a deep and devastating criminal activity when you have members of the so called deep state when you have members of the intelligence community, the deep state I'm not talking about some giant conspiracy deep stick. What I'm talking about. If they actually have people there who are leaking his personal information that is a separate crime in a separate issue. Access is not confirmed at this point, whether any communications from Carlson have been intercepted, and if so, why? And this is a really big problem, Okay, because why exactly would Tucker be caught up in some sort of surveillance sweep with regard to attempting to broker an interview? With Vladimir Putin. "With quite the drama. After a teacher handed out a Planned Parenthood pamphlet to eighth grade students in the pamphlet There was information about sex abortions, including information on what the legal age could be for sexual partners of kids as young as 11 years old. So this flyer was given out to a science class at Stewart Middle School. And it advised students that they could obtain an abortion without parental consent. They could purchase condoms regardless of how old they are. This is, according to a report from the local radio station. Students were also told about the laws regarding the age of consent for sex, with one example being that they could have intercourse at the age of 11 with someone who is two years older or younger, the assistant director of secondary education for the school system told parents in an email that a teacher had given out the Flyers to students. It was a mistake. And this guy says the Flyer is not part of the curriculum. It should not have been sent home with students. And he said previously Planned Parenthood taught within our schools. They supply the flyer that was distributed to the students. But obviously that was supposed to be, um, A no. Go at this point. Wow, um, charges for the infamous cult Mom are piling up. It was just over a month ago that Lori Val Oh, day Bell and her fifth husband, Chad, were charged with murdering her two Children and Chad's first wife. Now on Tuesday, America per County, Arizona Grand jury handed down another indictment this time for conspiracy in the murder of Lorries. Fourth husband, Charles Val. Oh, now, if you happen to follow the story, it's went on Dateline and all these 2020 type shows. Charles Vala was shot by Lori's brother Back in 2019. Cops initially ruled, um Alex Cox, the brother, they ruled that he had acted in self defense. But the case had since been reopened after Lori's Children, JJ entirely went missing. And so now there is an indictment for Charles follows death. And Olympian Gwen Barry insists she should still compete. 14 USA despite the fact that people are calling her To be removed from the team because she turned her back on the national anthem. But she has spoken out and she is doubling, tripling down, really honor criticism of her performance there. I guess you could say her performance and turning her back to the Star Spangled Banner. She spoke with the CNN affiliate Black News Channel and the Hammer thrower defended her actions, She said the anthem doesn't speak for black Americans listen to what she had to say. In that moment, I feel like it was a set up because I was those were not the directions that was not the intent. The intent was we would be introduced to the crowd either before or after the singing of the national anthem. In which if we had the option or if I knew that I was going to be on the podium, I would have chose something else. So Barry says that the Star Spangled Banner Banner lyrics are disrespectful because at one point, they reference, she says, reference, beating runaway slaves. Obviously, people were not happy about this. She received a lot of backlash. She received accusations that she hates her country, she says. I never said I hated my country. She has, of course qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, which start next month. Conservatives and others are calling her for being to be pulled from the team. White House press secretary Jen Psaki hinted that President Biden sympathized with her actions. And at this point, she is still heading to Tokyo. So there you have it onto some media news now. Tucker Carlson on Monday night you might have heard said that he was told by a whistleblower. That his Fox News show was essentially being monitored by the National Security Agency that they were monitoring the electronic Excuse me electronic communication between the show. And that they're planning on leaking the communications in an attempt to take his show off the air. Now, this is his allegation. The NSA has come out and they have said this is completely untrue. They released a statement yesterday, saying Tucker Carlson has never been an intelligence target of the agency and the NSA has never had any plans to try to take his program off the air. Carlson then went back on his show. Few minutes later, he calls the NSA's statement infuriatingly dishonest, and he argues that they did not directly refute what he has alleged. So the tit for tat goes back and forth. Speaking of Fox News, the company has admitted to misconduct that includes sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation against victimized employees, and they have agreed To pay a million dollar fine for what New York City's Commission on Human Rights calls a pattern of violating of the N Y C human rights law. This agreement was reached last week. It is the largest ever financial penalty assessed in the agency's six decade history. Now, aside from this million dollar fine, which let's be honest, it's kind of chump change for this multi billion dollar corporation. Uh, I have to say Fox News also has to remove mandatory confidential arbitration clauses from the contracts of on air talent and others. Now this was a major bone of contention. For the women who accused Roger Ailes and Bill O. Reilly of sexual harassment but were forced into silence, which effectively ended many of their careers at the network, but also required them to keep their mouth shut about their ordeals in full disclosure. I was one of those accusers. I was forced to leave the network after coming forward with my claims. Back in 2016 at any rate, the labour lawyer Nancy Erika Smith, you probably know her name. She represented former Fox news anchor Gretchen Carlson on and her sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against the late Roger Ailes. Carlsen won $20 million in settlement from 21st Century Fox. Uh, this Nancy Erika Smith calls the cable channels settlement agreement, especially its admission of guilt monumental..

"Percentage automated What was it was ten shots. And he allowed two goals and it was crazy and Everybody's talking about it. Everybody knows the story. Well now disney has ruled in and Yup we're gonna make a movie out of this thing. I guess dave has said that james corden called him of the late night comedian called him shortly after the win. Discuss making a movie about it airs then connected with creative artists agency and at least twenty four different production companies apparently expressed interest in it and They narrowed it down. Twenty four than to twelve and a now. The whole disney thing is happening and airs. Says he's told he's going to be a producer and he's going to help with writing the script that's pretty crazy stuff. I mean as if he already hasn't had the thrill of a lifetime now he's got a movie based on this story. Yeah when when the story broke right when it happened it was so cool right it was. I mean it went viral right for about a month. Yeah everyone was talking about it and everyone said you know this stuff. Movies are made right. Yup this but i said no no. No there's not enough here to make a movie relax. Everybody just relax okay. I know what happened. The guy came in and was super cool. But but no. It's not no. I need more for my movie law. I'm wrong. I read that piece. You just read this morning. The guy's not only steve. Do they have twenty four production of fits or companies that they gotta pick from that's who they narrowed it down to was twenty four. They had more way more than that. That people approached them about right. So what do i know. What do i know about. This thing is. You know wouldn't be enough there to make a movie so it'll be. I'm forward to it because those guys don't they know what they're doing stevie when they look at their their movie subjects they're always free to address it up to right so instead of like twenty eight minutes of hockey and an eight hundred save percentage hollywood's probably going to have him winning seventeen stanley cups making the hall of fame and walking on mars. Maybe cure cancer to. Yeah a couple of things. I want to touch on as we wrap up the show today. Couple of big stories that happened after we recorded and one is that the senate defeated montreal for in overtime really fun hockey game at the c. T. c. sends improved to four and two in their license games and the starting to resemble a pretty decent hockey team. We talked earlier about the revenge. Thing that maybe the sands of god for blood against the haves particularly after that spear on. Tim stood slow right in the neck. That never actually went down but it was a hell of a hockey game pond hockey at times Say the nhl would win a lot of fans a lot new fans with games like that. It had lots of storylines. Brady could check as usual at the center of it. All i e becomes the youngest player incense history to score fifty career goals. That's better the ashen. Hosa have latte ended up scoring twice on the night. Including tying goal which by the way was brutal. I mean people are gonna talk about the officiating and we'll get to that in a moment but carey price. Was the single reason montreal even got a point lead into bad ones but he was excellent in lot of cases could chuck also lost a couple of teeth in a brutal high. Stick situation from shea weber. Weber's trying to lift ca checks stick like with all his might and missed could check moved his blade at the last second. And so it was whammo shaft shea weber. Stick right on the chops and so could you right back out for the ensuing. Five on three so can't question that guy's toughness could check also got into a fight with bench cottam with a couple of rights on the beak and he had to leave a fix up some puncture wounds and yes so brady could chuck is high event hockey. There's no doubt about that and fans had to be sitting there going. We could have had that guy. We drafted kotkin yemi and we could have had kit shock. Montreal appeared to win the game at the end. Two seconds left. They seem to score but the goal was overturned on goalie. Interference brendan gallagher. Was the guilty party. He was livid and smiling. He's he's still not clear. That smiling is something you do. When you're you're happy but couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Cabs fan. Certainly though felt like matt murray time to reset after the interference but the bottom line is eight or fewer with the goalie. Goalies usually going to get the benefit of the doubt and i don't think there was any question that was goalie interference and then he had a wild three on three overtime. That's all of nothing. And then the sends win in the shootout on. Beautiful like beautiful high-skill goals by tim stewart's and josh. Norris sends fine low skill in the shootout and for that they can thank the air. Carlson deal both those guys. Coming over from san jose in the carlson deal. Effectively being the draft pick drake bathurst will come in handy there as well. He opened the game on a gorgeous breakaway goal. Five four shootout. They get calgary on thursday so be a lot of could chuck on ca- chuck action. Second story i wanted to add into the show before we wrap up was an update on tiger woods. As most of you have probably heard by now he was in a big car accident. He suffered serious leg injuries and he was trapped but conscious when emergency responders reached the scene of his rollover crash on a stretcher. California road this actually known for speeding an accident. He was driving shortly after seven. Am yesterday near l. a. And his suv crossed the median and went across two lanes of road before hitting a curb hitting a tree and landing on its side off the roadway in the brush and there was an la county sheriff's. Deputy was the first to arrive. He said he found would still in the driver seat wearing his seatbelt. Use able to tell him. His name was tiger. He was lucid and calm in shock. Didn't seem to be concerned with his injuries at the time. But i guess he was trying to get out but stock so they. Firefighters came used to pry bar in an ax to freedom meanwhile. Espn reporting that. He suffered serious but non life threatening injuries and underwent hours of surgery today and so the fact that is non life threatening injuries. That's really all you care about after seeing some of the images that we did today so that is fantastic news. We'll take time out on the program back with final thoughts. After these words. And then you look like their bottom six and their bottom Defensive pair and as you mentioned goaltending and it's just do not enjoy it at all. I think you could certainly make the argument for the under that depth and goaltending might be more important than ever this season with all of the kind of back to backs and this team has more back to backs than anyone in the nhl. That could really hurt them more than even in a normal season. But i still think there's enough pheno strong talent here to take the over next up is arizona. Their total is fifty nine and a half. Which would be eighty seven in a normal regular season. Now that's the ninth lowest total in the league so for those of you that have been paying attention right now. The west division has four of bid on online's ten worst teams in the nhl in terms of projected win total. So starting off greats out here in the west kind of like anaheim but i guess on a slightly elevated level. this is the team that lost of course former. Mvp taylor hall to the buffalo sabres in the off season. Which once again for me means. There's not much of anything to get excited about on this roster except for the goaltending which should would be pretty strong if yeah i kind of feel like he can take a lot of what i said about anaheim and copy and paste for arizona. I mean you know. Obviously taylor hall coming in. They sort of pushed a lot of the middle. And you know didn't even come close to a car on the river or whatever they needed. I i just don't see who scores goals for them. And then the other thing too is acting larson had his whole offseason. You know i guess power struggle or whatever you wanna call it kind of a public trade. Merry go round with go here Or will go here. And that's it and that's all you can do it. Hamstrung new gm. I'm sure everything's settled. They've talked it all out. But the one thing i'll say is this team. Seems like a very rick talk at team of just go. Go go be gritty for. Check the heck out of people you know in. Just just try to win three two in and make everything ugly. That's a rick target type team in in game. They're gonna play a lot of those. I think this year. It might be tough. It's almost like you know in a weird way. It's like facing an option team in football like you don't see it. There's a lot of these teams in the in the bonding to call the pacific the honda west division. Or whatever we got a call it That are kind of go..

Cain fifty nine and a half this year tomasz taylor hall Carlson eighty seven two three one ninth lowest arizona top eight pacific ten worst teams last two years larson bottom six anaheim buffalo sabres
