Grubhub Accused of Overcharging Restaurants Amid COVID Pandemic in New Lawsuits
"Ingram hub in new york city a lot of restaurants. We're finding that they were getting charged for phone calls. Now you think about that. And you're like that's kind of weird. How could grub charge a restaurant for a phone call. The way they do that is when you go to the grub up pitch for your favorite restaurant they generate a number that route routes through grub hub. I so you're actually calling the restaurant but not before grab the mafia daughter for you right. But like this is why they feel like it's mafia. They opened the door for you. They're not providing any service besides discovery. Personally i've done this. I i wanna call the restaurant directly order from them and reduced that mission costs so i go and they don't like maybe have a website or maybe grow is the first thing that shows up so i clicked on crop up. Call that phone number now. I know they are not getting a benefit from that. They're still being charged. And what's weird about it is. They can't determine the order that you've done so they do like an average so like they between like for this restaurant the hampel noodle the ex-pat in in harlem charging like five to eight dollars five to seven dollars about like approximately per order so like if i'm ordering like an eleven dollar noodles myself and now they're being charged five to seven dollars for that like that's a crazy amount of money. In a lot of cases it's an algorithm that was determining how charge because there's nobody on the phone listening. Actually i listening to the calls so the algorithm says this call last thirty seconds. It's an order but sometimes it wasn't an order. The person was like hey like do you have this dish like and they were like no and i actually hung up and drop hub was actually chart charging for that. Oh this is. there's a lawsuit actually a couple of lawsuits. That have happened outside of new york city or people have sued for group. Says like you're right. We should only charge for orders on the phone that resulted order so they still believe that like it should be able to get money also phone call orders but they basically saying there are a lot of fraudulent charge. There are some fraudulent charges that

Ethiopia Votes in Greatest Electoral Test yet for Abiy
"We start in Ethiopia, Voting has started there in regional and federal parliamentary elections. The vote, of course, has already delayed twice, very controversial. And it's going to be the first test at the ballot for Prime Minister Abdi Ahmed and his prosperity party since he was appointed in 2018 and formed the party. The election comes of course, sadly, with the background of ethnic tensions, along with conflict and hunger in the north as well and quite a large proportion of Ethiopians won't get to vote. I've been speaking with Catherine Bureau hanker, BBC's Africa correspondent. She's an Agar o town, which is the constituency of Prime Minister Ahmed. We've been here since six a.m. the moment when the polls opened, and people already coming in streaming in an orderly fashion into the polling station here, we're on the high Street and really, there's pretty much no traffic is just people walking in trying to exercise their right to vote. It's not a public holiday in Ethiopia. So of course, many parts of the country people will have to Juggle work and coming out to cost their ballot. Now what we know from the Election board is that 20% of constituencies in this country will not be taking part in the election today, and that's because of security reasons, but also logistical reasons, so we have t dry in the north, where a conflict Has been going on for eight months, people there will not be voting. There are also other regions like the Somali region and Harari region where, because of issues with the ballot papers, people there will not be voting as well. That also presumably delays, a result does it When will we know from what we know from the election board is that within a week's time, we will get some preliminary results of the ballots that have been caused today. But in regions where people are not able to vote, the elections
How to Create Successful Interactive Advertising With Ahmed Bouzid
"What do you think about the interactive advertising where that's where that's going to go in the next year to three year. Well i i think i think Like like any advertising to florida to be successful right especially in audio. It needs to be highly conceptualize number one right so you need to be hitting the right people and then The right time with the right message with the right offer for them to to invest in in a in a back and forth because again back and forth is is asking asked. that's more than So you're asking them to take a deep breath into speak to interrupt Whatever foster had and just getting involved in a conversation. I remember a conversation. is very time Interlaced right is independent so basically. I can't do anything else when i'm talking to the robot. I cannot right my text. i'm just. I i need to focus so therefore it's really important for For this to take off for it could be done well and it's hard. It's hard to do it. Well but i think all the elements are there for this to be done. Well meaning context you know where they are what they're doing Hopefully i have a history of what they like what they don't like right And so it's all about doing Doing it in a way that is going to not not be a backlash not as backlash right. Because i can see somebody. That's that might manoeuvres. Assiri somebody goes and tries to do it and desert in the wrong way and the whole thing gets contaminated by that experience Especially it's a big president alarming. The lasting the last thing marketer wants to do is have a bad experience. I mean you. The the very definition of user experience is is that we we are using experiencing something that makes us feel smarter and more
Ahmed Bouzid: "Audio Is a Lot of Bang for the Effort of 30 Seconds"
"Audio station is something where You could have your own bespoke content on your site. Somebody could click on that station and just hear the audio. That's coming out. So it's a little like your own customized radio station but it's an audio experience so in our case Where the conference. It could be audio of talks and as opposed to Just watching the video you can click it and suddenly you can listen to somebody's conversation. Is that right exactly. One one like the lowest hanging fruit. We're just watching this show in learning beta mode right right the lowest hanging fruit we've discovered right now is audio testimonies right ryan ask so i am. A fan of of voice was global summits. Right and i've been going through a conference for the longest time so i could go undergo thirty seconds of me saying good things about you right up and your conference and you could ask you can send an email say please leave a voice that's montiel and when somebody goes through your websites on this is one thing we learned is a marketers. Website is the center of their life. Right right you know social media all of it is part of it but website is very important so you go there. And you're able to listen to the money's. You're looking at webpage. Though as opposed to a video or or tax testimony people reading here. You're listening and you're going up and down the page and you're able to do those things at the same time at the same time and also voice right. You're hearing the person's character and emotions and will somebody expresses their appreciation of you using their voice. Right that's sort of more compelling than text only and it's less heavy than even ask than a video so if you ask ask me in your recorded video it's bigger I love you know. we'll do it right. I will do it but it's an ask that's heavy on but if you just say go hand to court thirty seconds of you saying something good about us all right. I would do it in a write in a heartbeat. People would do it. Who have relationship with you. So so that thing that balance or that sort of the biggest bang for your effort right is is what makes believe audio so compelling so texas is easy you just type video is heavy but it has a lot of value because rises voice insurance but audio is a lot of bang for the effort of thirty seconds.
"ahmed" Discussed on Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
"Always talk about. A little bit of Some heat rather from the observer quote jere referred to ahmed johnson who legitimately couldn't work which is one of the reasons they did the angle as a quote unquote water retaining which is a steroid reference. Johnson called him a chicken shit although it was somewhat bleeped slaughter came out until jere that on the pay per view he'd russula major star because he was facing the undertaker and ahmed has said in in more recent interviews quote. Jeff jarrett was one of the guys who had a problem and let me know by his actions that he did not like me very much. Is that based on jeff's relationship with owen and other talent or do you think i'm ed's just remembering things different way. I think that you know a lot of guys. Let them know that they. They didn't feel he was safe. Weren't happy about his injuries to himself and other people Jeff probably one of those people. So i think that there was a point where ahmed might felt that it was the world against him. Sometimes finally and this was like his long overdue. You got sent. Ahmed workout with dory funk and tom prichard and stanford this is early january ninety eight. Maybe you're telling him get the ring rust off him but clearly you're wanting to make sure he's in shape and he's not her and he's not going to hurt anybody and meltzer would say showed up at around two hundred eighty pounds but that's thirty five pounds down from when he left and supposedly he quote unquote worked his way out of the doghouse with his attitude and willingness to learn. I'm sure you were getting some sort of updates from dory or your brother. Tom what do you remember about this now. L. i was there every day I'm ed la great and came back in and willingness to get in the ring and and bust his ass and came in very humble and came in with an attitude of you know teach me came in with the right attitude and was joy joy to be around all week. Well son all bad news. He did win an award On interviews from the readers of the wrestling observer two years running so congrats to him for that. And i'm ed returns at the rumble and lasts a couple of minutes before mark henry and dealer brown. Throw him out and he would feel like well now. We're back on track. Nope i'm johnson was hospitalized. On the morning of february second when he collapsed on the airplane in indianapolis due to dehydration. He did appear in chains as corner at the taping. We're probably will be out of action for a few days at this point. Are you just wondering. Does he not want to be here anymore. Is the feeling mutual. The bloom officially off the road. And we just gotta get out of this. The balloon was off the rose without a doubt. And you start asking the question you question yourself why and you have to look at the investment. Do you wanna continue to invest regardless of what's happening here in someone. That is always going to be injured. This always going to be something some kind of incident or some kind of issue. So yeah you gotta make decisions. You gotta move on. We're almost there. The last pay per view he would appear on his no way out ninety eight which you recall had the famous replacement where shawn michaels couldn't wrestle. So the suitable replacement will salvio vega. But that's not this match. This is ken. Shamrock chains and eight ball taking on the nation. At this point it does feel like all amid does is wrestle. The nation but either way shamrock makes rocky submit to the ankle. Lock that sets up the wrestlemainia match that matches on february fifteenth. And it's ahmed's last match for the company meltzer would say i'm johnson was officially released on february. Twenty third the stems from an incident. At the tv taping on february sixteenth in waco texas johnson had nearly four years remaining on a five year contract. It's no secret. The company wasn't happy with him because of his injuring people his own constant injuries and poor work rate in addition because of losing momentum from the injuries and losing even more steam with the he'll turn and a rapid face turn that nobody cared about him anymore. His stock had fallen tremendously since he was originally offered the deal and thought to be one of the top attractions in the company. He was instructed at the dallas. Tv to do a job for curbing using the claw and he refused and walked out he never returned missing tv the next night and has house show dates over the weekend. My feeling giving the knowledge going yan. He would surely react this way because of what he was asked not to mention being in dallas where he ended up in an early part of his career that the end result may have been more desired than what was asked as it was tightened has legally gotten out of the contract because he breached because god only knows how bad it would've looked if they actually had done that match on television and it wouldn't have been worth a thing coming out of it anyway Norris was since since claim to friends that he never refused to do. The job was never asked to do the job but he felt the company was burying him because he spoke openly on the wrong side of the fence on the touchy survivor series. Finish issue And meltzer would say. Hey that's what he so he's saying. Hey they're punishing me. Because i support it. Brandt heart and his decision To behave the way he did after the screw job in montreal stand with brett. Meltzer says alao. Hardy wouldn't put over curbing with the claw and no showed. What do you remember. I remember the way ed kargonaov. The truth commission is a new new group. Wanted to get them over and looking at top guy. Here cardigan was big. Seven foot robert malay- just a monster and try something way i remember. Tony didn't wanna do. It left the that. The rumor and innuendo from ahmed side of the story is he's booked to appear in a segment with the truth commission where he was beaten and dragged up the entrance ramp and he did an interview where he says quote. When i left the reason i did leave and the reason. I didn't tell. Vince is because i'm not a crybaby. But my sister was dying and she died like three days after. I walked out the door. And they didn't know. I was dealing with that. You know and supposedly was an avid fan of the wwf. She was battling cancer and he didn't want her to have the image of her being beaten and dragged by the neck while she was gravely ill and according to johnson fifteen minutes before he was scheduled to have the match which would end that his being attacked he received a call that his sister was doing really really bad and the he should come immediately to her in the hospital in florida. Johnson says he didn't met with. Vince mcmahon and told him he had some things to deal with and immediately left the show and flew to florida where a sister died the following week. Johnson stated subsequently that he did not tell. Wbf management the reason for his departure at the time because he quote didn't like to burden people with his problems in quote And he didn't wanna give the impression that he was telling them something for sympathy. Did you hear this story. That i'm had a gravely ill sibling. I did not. This is all new to you right now for the first time. Yeah okay. I mean i it was it was laid out you know. Tv laid out what to do and he left. Well that's what i know. I am to my knowledge to not speak to vince. Didn't speak to me.

"Deal can't honor your contract lot going on including ahmed johnson returning for the intercontinental championship tournament. Of course austin had to vacate that title after oh adopt on his head of summer slam. And i'm gonna pin rocky via to advance to face faruk. But at some point he manages to cut his hand open from an exposed nail here at the garden and tears tendons. So yep he's supposed to win over for ruch and go on to face owen in the finals. That doesn't happen instead. It's for faruk. And i'm ed is officially the most unlucky man in professional wrestling history. Yeah he's back in a few weeks though and he's going to be taming with the nation and ken shamrock and they're gonna take on the survivor series. Another injury happens Own heart suffers a severe concussion. In his match with ahmed johnson at tulsa show. He's not supposed to back until the november seventh show in toronto and it's believed that har suffered the concussion in a match that aired on october twenty seventh were johnson delivered. What was called a scissors kick. That looked totally. Brutal owens is were clearly Glassy from that point on and he told people he thought he was actually knocked out on a clothesline from it right before the kick. There's tremendous heat backstage on johnson for both And the previous night. In oklahoma city he got into a small but legitimate fight with yellow brown and ferruccio ended up trying to break it up but reiterated his bad knee in the process. Lot's unpack here. Do you remember med injuring owen. Vaguely do I do i remember. Hearing about the fight you know with with deloitte. Probably much more so and That was that was kind of one of those that I think dealer had had enough of ahmed backstage. And just thinking that. I'm ed was cutting promos on people in deal being the young the youngest of the group kinda took it and then took as much as he could take and i think that people kinda of looked at la young dealer used to be a A cpa i believe yeah And looked at all your your cpa or whatever and they lose a double tough son of a bitch and i got to the point. Where he was he was done. And do you wanna go. Let's go and they went in. I think i'm ed regretted it. You saying de la when the fight sort of her. I wasn't there so from people that were there sort of her. I was. I was there when when rock back dow white. Tell me the rock story. I don't know that iraq was will same same kind of a it was. It was interesting room and and And ahmed was complaining about something and rock. Just kinda you know basically if you wanna go let's go and i'm ed back down and nobody was stopping anybody in that one and and i was there in in the dressing room for that but it was again. It's there's a lotta much ado about nothing but if you know so yeah so when you hear the dealer thing was like okay i could. I could see that lows. Tough some bitch. Here's the thing too. I know a lot of our listeners. Probably are a little bit like what but the rock you know he. He's not this disney character that you see on tv Let's not forget to play defensive line at the u. And when you're playing defensive. Line in miami with guys like warren saf your bad motherfucker. So older johnson's bad but it's just funny people think. Oh he's just a promo guy. I don't know before. Cute rhyming shit. He was hurting people for real on the gridiron on a big level. So yeah rocks kinda up there in in in that top five of guys you would never want mess with so there's a role not long after And steve austin and ahmed get into a promo challenge and matches made and later on on edison. The ring waiting. For steve became comes out and destroys. Ahmed with two tombstones. Feels like yeah so our series ninety seven. We all know what happened to the main event but on the undercard. It's ken shamrock. I'm ed johnson and the legion of doom taken on the nation and melted. Say the purpose of the is to get shamrock over as one of the top echelon guys in a same that that goal was accomplished Johnson fruit brawl to the back. But the bra looked bad because johnson didn't appear to be trying very hard to actually catch him and when a when they did it seemed more. Like they were waltzing to back. Rub and brawling two and three quarter stars at this point. Did it feel like i. Maybe wasn't as motivated. Was he dejected. Rightfully so With his place on the card or just frustrated with his injury bug. It just doesn't feel like the same. Ahmed here by the end of ninety seven does it was dejected However i think everyone else was dejected. With ahmed came in with a very bright future and a lot of opportunity. And you know you're watching him looking at him going man. This could be the wwe champion every time that you got close to try to take the next step for that to happen. Inevitably something else would happen. That would prevent it from taking that next step so so mitt you know after the first we okay it can happen once twice three times four or five times after a while you start to you know Full we want shame on you. Vote shame on me and you start to go okay man. Maybe it's just a something is preventing this from happening and it was always you know an injury was always something. Let's talk a little bit about you. Know the total to take a pause for a minute. We got backstage issues with fights. You've just mentioned. There was a at least a verbal situation with iraq. An actual dust up for real with deal. Oh he's had issues with karrueche We've injured owen. Owens injured us every time we turn around someone's injuring someone but the the common denominator is i'm ed's involved And this is supposed to be sort of the blow off of a year long. Blood feud with him and fruit. And instead it feels like a physical He's scheduled to face kane at in your house. Dx on his way to show and hampton. virginia. He flipped rental car three times and he's injured again. This is You know man. If it wasn't for bad luck my man here. Tony norris would have no luck at all what he.

"On raw and he defeats triple h by q so now triple h is auto king of the ring right so the next week hunters back in the tournament after claiming he would file a lawsuit if he wasn't told that he would be eliminated if he was queued in reality. Vader got hurt cold day in hell and his master. Ken shamrock so triple. H is substituted back into the tournament. Things change conrad right right. Can you imagine actually wasn't told about that. Disqualification rule. Can you imagine though for real if there was a ahmed johnson vader match given the string of injuries. This is not good for e. It's probably better. it didn't happen. It'd be had a cup of coffee with one eye in somewhere. She leaves very happy This is from the observer. I'ma johnson did an interview saying that for faruk was right about the wwf. Never letting black man hold the title. But now he's going to win the title for the fans of all colors so that's pretty cool right. It felt like the nation at times was. Maybe you're racist gimmick or whatever but hey i'm here to represent the fans sco ahmed of course fruit beats and the undertaker interferes and that leads to Take your choke slamming. ahmed johnson. Is this the first time. We've even discussed the possibility of ahmed as a heel because the undertaker at this point very much a baby face but for him to choke slam med. It's almost like what's going on here right well. It was also part of tetris character. Kinda likes golden later. Years were taker had no bias. As far as who he would attack it whether baby face or heel so it was kind of playing with takers character than anything else. So king of the ring. Ninety seven triple h beats ahmed in the first round before winning so the guy who wasn't supposed to be in gets back in and wins. Do you remember what the original plan was because again ninety seven. Ahmed beat him by the q. So he's out. I'm ed supposed to wrestle. Vader but vader was hurt at the pay per view so they they slot hundred back in. I think history sort of forgets. That part of hunter's story. yeah. And i and i. I'm sure it's just more than anything was all the injuries all at the same time and kind of you know you're looking at how everything is going to shake out after the fact what you need where I guess my question is was ahmed. Johnson originally considered to be king of the ring. Not no not to my knowledge. I don't think i'm ed was ever. He won the goddamn kuwaiti cap. You saying that don't matter that's i. That's not apples and pomegranates. that's about the same prestige level. Yeah yeah yeah. Well king kuwaiti a king Quitting cup king yeah. Let's do that all right so the next night on raw. Ahmed finally big pinfall win. Over for ruch it's wrestlemainia six-man rematch and the nation meaning crush and savia walkout on faruk. And that's the end of that version of the nation the next week for debuts common mustafa as the newest member and they team up to face ahmed and undertaker in the main event here we would see comma pin. Has oh pout undertaker clean. And then ahmed johnson turn on taker and hit him with the pearl river. Plunge for economic just spent months feuding with each other. But now we're putting ahmed in the nation. Help me out here. How does how do we enemy slows. When you've been warned he'd been to battle with against someone you know what kind of metal they have and my god. Sometimes it's better to join them. Talk me a little bit about While we turned on at he'll. That's what i'm trying to figure out like. It feels as if the companies behind him has. He just spent too much time on the sidelines. Has it just not connected with fans though we hoped why the change of course well again. I think that ed was looked at as a project to and if he could be under the learning tree of ron simmons. That's a good thing doubt about that. And this was another way for ahmed to be under you know areas. He's worked with ron and ron. Every single night can help him along well man. I'm excited to see how that works. And now that. I'm in is a he'll And he's a new challenger for the world champion undertaker we've sort of glossed over the fact. Anything mentioned him so far. I've forgotten to mention that. Hey won the world title wrestlemania thirteen so amid now is pro for plunging the world champs so we wanted him to be in that world title picture just turns out. It's going to be as he'll let's see how he does. Well we never see it the next week. The nation in the debut in cycles of apocalypse get nebraska. And i'm ed blows his knee out. We're dead right. Yeah i mean now it's it's one thing after another after another after another after another where you we reached the point of. Is he ever going to be healthy. Long enough realize anything. Let me ask. And there's no way to ask this without just being a bit of a dickhead. So pardon me. Was there a concern or a belief or chatter or whispers. Is he really hurt every time or is this just he wants to come off the road and maybe the lifestyle isn't for him. I don't know you know to my knowledge. All those injuries were legitimate injuries. But you say why somebody would would think that. I'm sure somebody did say that. But you know from the from our vantage point along times you know you take doctors and you take their prognosis in you. You listen to what they have to say. When i'm sure that some of the boys and may be some of them were as bad. is they presented. This is the second time the company has put on man in a position to be at the top of the card and the injury happens. The takes him out at this point. Is it just understood or does it have to be explicitly said guys. We can't bank on him right now. We'll we'll figure something out when he comes back. But we gotta move on. Yeah you have to say that. I mean because you could. And that's just a fact that you're faced with every single day so i'm undergoes the surgery and we don't see him again until the raw before summer slam he returns to hit the pro replied on chains. Who was actually. Brian lee on the floor and He gets involved again at summerslam quote outside the ring chains punched amid johnson. Johnson went to give him a pro over plunge but it wound up. Being power bomb appeared to be trying to protect his knee but somehow ended up hurting it worse. They did put him in the ring. It raw the next night to do an angle where the know turned on him to explain his longer absence and give him an issue to return for although before the in od attack. It was clear in the ring that his knee was going did. I'm edges come back too soon after surgery here. Yes it's i wanna come back. Wanna come back and find and fine. I can protect it then. Reality was wasn't. I'm feeling bad for the guy now because it was like every time we turn around. He's getting moved up the card and then as aren likes to say we're cutting water off but it's not getting hurt. That's what i mean. I don't mean. I don't mean you guys. I mean it's fucking. His body is like no. We're not ready. He's taken out of the nation. He's replaced by rocky ma via so. I dunno whatever happened to that guy. Maybe it worked out now. I'm back to being a baby. Face in hindsight wasn't mistake to try him as a he'll i mean there's no he could have ever predicted the injury though right no and frankly i thought he was is a he'll. He was very believable as ceo. So the first ever off of madison square garden happens on september. Twenty second So much to this show is the debut of cactus. Jack austin's going to stunned vince and get arrested. And before the show even starts Vince meets with brad and says hey because if you can get that w. w..

"Earned law guys okay. Well he got hurt to buy those two guys undergo surgery kevin kelly interviews him. He's on tv before the surgery and In the interview ahmed states. He doesn't know. Phil ever be able to physically defend the intercontinental title Interesting comment from a quote unquote baby face. Usually there. how about we right back out there daddy and all that shit Is this. I'm edges free styling or was that the plan where you're wanting to know that it's it's one of those injuries that its internal land. Tyne some people heal quicker than others and this was one of those situations. Nobody can give you a prognosis. Okay he'll be better in two weeks or he'll be better than three weeks. It was we gotta wait and see how he heals up. It actually winds up being that way. He's in and out of the hospital. Multiple times due to complications from the surgery There's rumors that hey this could be a legitimate career ending injury. They even give periodic updates on his condition and he makes an appearance on livewire. Which we gotta do a show. One day We'll see him again until in your house buried alive which is in october and he attacks fruit backstage with two four causing him to miss intercontinental title match against marco miro The reason of course is for ruch has hamstring injury. The injury bug has bitch you guys in a big way here in the fall on his six not yeah usually does it comes kind of spreads around like a virus of sorts gorilla monsoon is going to suspend ahmed after the attack which is just a cover to giving more time to heal in the meantime though for route forms the nation of domination and ahmed johnson comes back on november eighteenth to clean house again with a two before at the in your house my time pay per view which is december or it's time not December of ninety-six. Vince mcmahon conducts an in ring interview with ahmed announcing that ahmed is going to wrestle for ruch at the royal rumble. And i'm men on the interview. Talks about how. His injury made him lose his girlfriend his car and his house and all he has. Now as the fans for route comes out and calls a homage. Johnson uncle tom and he says he'll finish amid johnson off at the royal rumble. Boy if this isn't the beginning of the attitude era it ain't far away is. Yeah no it was definitely the beginning and in some of the stuff. He'd already lost his girlfriend's car and his house. This kind of sound. Like a country song. Yahoo madonna got sick It could definitely definitely be that way with sometimes. I think that i'm ed. Psychology was a little amiss. So tell me about the creative here with him coming out and listing off all those things that this injury costing and then faruk calling him. That is this something. Y'all run past anybody. They just freestyle. And now this guy's going out and cutting their own promos Listen i know you. Don't give a shit about the. Pwi five hundred but back in the day the meltzer out the meltzer but the after magazines people got excited about that particular issue and i'm johnson was ranked number five in the world for nine hundred ninety six zero five five to come out all the time where she man They announced number eight. I think i should been six. Yeah what off amid johnson number five. He's the fifth best wrestler in the world bursts. Are you now speaking of awards hundred or what. I don't get it. we should mention. He won the worst beaten in the in the rascic observer. Whatever i'm glad you brought that up the observer. Readers voted him worst on interviews. Do you think. Ahmed johnson deserved that. Was he the worst on interviews. Do you have a favorite johnson favorite ahmed interview. No i know they were over when they were over at russia's interviews like he did his matches so it was would get all excited. Just go so fast. You couldn't understand anything. He says like warrior. You couldn't mumbling and shit you have no idea what hell they're talking about. Yeah it's it's pretty bad. There was a video game that came out around this time on playstation and You would get like a video of the guy cutting a promo before. The game actually started like if you picked him or whatever and dude. It's hard to make out anything you saying you so excited. And there was a lot of intensity there but it was ultimate warrior. Ask you had no idea the world. He was talking about shotgun saturday. Night debuts on january fourth from the renards nightclub in new york and besides marlena flashing bob back on the most memorable moment is homage. Johnson hitting d lo brown with the pearl river plunge on a car. Talk me through this. What are you remember about this spot. I shotgun saturday night. We were live live and that was pretty difficult to do in syndication in those days because is yours indication. And now you're You want this to be live live. You're dealing with oftentimes markets that are not beyond prime time. Most markets weren't set up those days to take live feeds all hours of the day. So it's a little difficult but really wanted to make an impact with this. Live shotgun saturday night in your in new york city man. Let's do some wild and crazy stuff so we wanted to do some wild west stuff which ended up with delegating for river plunged on top.

"Let's let's talk about the match. They twenty four minutes and thirty two seconds. The bad guys get the win. Meltzer would say overall a very good main of as expected michael's caring the match for his side. Johnson tagged in and through three dangerous back. Suplexes on hart who's landings didn't look too pretty. And he appeared to have heard his elbow and shoulder legitimately. He's the pearl river. Plunge on smith but vader made the save A show we should mention There's a a weird spot where a fan hops the rail and makes it all the way to the ring apron and at that point both i met davey. Boy seem to notice him and ahmed blocks. I and the fan took one look. Johnson and voluntarily jumped off the apron into the police and A big pop from the crowd. Kind of a cool moment in the matt's here where they wanna get involved in the match and then they come face to face with that and just rethink all that she had a little bit. If you had the choice. I jumped down big sweaty ahmed johnson. Who's like in the middle of a match and just ready to go and he's coming for ya or the arms. The policemen roller handcuff. You take away. What's your choice. is well clearly. It's a no brainer. But how do you think it's interesting to me that the highlight of the whole thing is the fan jumping the rail and running in i. It was for me. Anyway absolutely yeah. It's not expect that. I don't care what side you're i'm ed is a big intimidate. Some bitch mitch huge. Do you remember when this matches coming through the curtain coming in the back a winner. Anybody talking about these dangerous look and suplexes. Was there a concern that ownership man. He might be hurting good talent out there. We gotta gonna watch this. I think that you know what would it got to the point of him actually hurting people. Yeah you know it's like you've got to be careful you've got to know what the hell you're doing or don't do it. I guess my question is do you think was hurting guys because of what you insinuated earlier. That he was going too fast. Does he not really know his own strength. Or is he just legitimately green or a combination of all three is kind of a combination of all three. And i don't think that. I'm ed intentionally hurt anybody. I think that it was lack of lack of schooling lack of just knowing the right way to do some things and a lot of times. You'll you'll think that you're getting a skilled performer. When in reality you're getting someone that has done a whole lot Let's talk about the next night on raw. It's a big night. Ron simmons the former wcw world champion is going to debut as a new character for ruch aside. They've got him dressed in this blue. Gladiator gimmick and a really piece of shit blue helmet on his head. And he literally kicks ahmed johnson and the kidneys and Ahmed sean were teaming up. Take on the smoking guns and yeah this is. This is a bad spot here. I'm legitimately hurt. what are you remember about. Ron's debut and the whole ahmed incident man. You know It was was big night and it was. It was planned to be a big night. For on simmons farrand to commander make an impact by gotta manhandling and doing some damage to ahmed a kick. It advertently landed wrong and her in in good So it's very unfortunate but that one was man that was just an accident. Wrong place wrong time wrong. Kick in the wrong spot. What you think of Sunny as the manager for faruk and he's immediately feuding with amid johnson some people online whenever we posted that we were doing amid johnson topic I don't know maybe made much ado about nothing. Got to african. American fellows feuding with a white man white female manager. I thought that was a little bit of a stretch. I don't even want to comment on that. That's just silly. It's the same taping later on where there's a battle royal to determine the number one contender to face the winner of showing invader for the role after summerslam and ahmed wins that so it's obviously not known at the time that i made us her nearly but how quickly after the show did we learn. Hey ahmed's on the shelf for a little bit I wanna say within the within the next couple of days. I want to say that i'm ed. You know left and was sore and hurting but then realize that. Hey this is lot more serious than anybody thought. went to a doctor and found out that he had a much more severe injury. So it's even in the observer amidst i'ma johnson's injury was announced on raw as being a ruptured kidney other reports so then as a severely bruised and johnson now has blood in his urine so they don't know exactly when it happened. Johnson also broke his nose during the man presumably from a stiff kick to the face bio heart. He was considered doubtful for this coming weekend. But the presumption is so start back at summer slam. I i've always found. You know the ahmed johnson narrative interesting. Because it's not like he's here. Combatting it doing a bunch of appearances interviews but people always say oh. He was reckless. He was dangerous and then here in back to back nights we break the mother. Fuckers nose and severely bruises kidneys to the point. He's pissing blood. I mean i guess there's a chance these are just receipts but if they're dangerous they both accidents not for a second not receipts things. Ron's first night in. It was a mistimed deal place kick and on owen same thing. It's just weird though because when people talk about oh and heart and ron simmons. They never talk about them in the vein of well. These guys were dangerous you know. They heard a lot of guys. But i'm at johnson for some reason gets that treatment. Why do you think that is.

"Could teach in be able same thing in every every opponent that you look at this period of time with someone that can help teach him and slow him down and that was important. A goldust was red hot at the time very controversial. So talk to me a little bit about ahmed. You know in his approach here because we've heard a lot of times even sort of tongue in cheek. Goslett kurt angle. Tell you why can't lose. So i'm it's finally going to lose Although it is with a screwed job and then we're going to have another fellow who you would call. Androgynous almost insinuate these making out with him while he's unconscious and we know that scott hall was none too happy about that creative. Just you know earlier the same year house ahmed with all right. We're going to beat you so you're probably gonna lose. And oh yeah then. We're going to have goldust make out with ya. Ahmed saw the opportunity. The chance to be in a program and a half story behind it. How great was i'm in the execution that when he ran that guy through the door man that shit looked real real just saying it translated. Well vincent you had to be fucking pumped translated Theriault because again it was real and you felt the emotion and that was something that i met. Ahmed could do anger well. So let's talk about king the ring ninety six. Of course it's remembered. Mostly these days because steve austin coined the austin three sixteen phrase his victory promo when he became the king of the ring but it's also notable because i'm at johnson gets his first intercontinental title reign defeating gold goldust and Yeah this is. This is a big moment for him. i think he's not Is not only the first african american intercontinental champion. I think he might actually be the first african american singles champion in company history. Of course there had been you know black tag champs before. But i think he was the first black world champion or intercontinental champion. The cit we have no idea. But i tell you it was big deal for ahmed and it was one of those where you sit back and you look. We're watching ahmed. And even in those early days you look at him and you kinda visualize. I could see ahmed as wwe champion. Yeah so this was the first step to getting to that point. The intercontinental title has largely been known in wrestling circles as the quote unquote workers belt. So you know guys like randy savage or mister perfect or bret. Hart owen talk man there. You go continental champion of all time. Maybe is there a concern that perhaps we've put the belt on a guy now who we're not sure could go pull off a twenty minute match or do we just think you're putting too much thinking that conrad he's an attraction and he's going to get winds and sell tickets we'll get. I don't know that anybody within the business is actually in the business. Refer to their county. Championship is the workers title again. Dot man was great county champion of all time hockey being one of the best workers in the business and it was a championship. And i think that it was the right stepping stone for ahmed at the time Well here's what i'm trying to drive. I guess back when you had hulk hogan and the ultimate warrior and and big old dudes who may be champion. Hulk hogan was not. I'm trying to say a sentence here. If i could just finish one goddamn sentence. That'd be good back when back. When you had like a whole cocaine and ultimate warrior as world champion you had intercontinental champions like bread or mister perfect or shawn michaels. Now it almost feels like that's flip-flopped or maybe for coming to see a great match back then you would have watched the intercontinental championship match. But if you wanted to the attraction the guy who sold the tickets well. You're going to have to wait seahawk. The main event but now flip-flop shawn michaels is without question the best wrestler in the world in one thousand nine hundred nineteen six and i'm a johnson is not exactly so maybe that was a bit of a paradigm shift for years and years. The mef headstrong cards. And maybe a week. Main event as far as the quality of the match with a guy like the ultimate warrior hulk hogan but now a shawn michaels. That's no longer the case right. No again hockey hockey was champion. During hogan's rain warrior was champion during hogan's rain Nah i don't think it also. I don't think that holds water at all. It was just you look at the attractions and you look at it. What you have at the time. Talk to me a little bit about the The six man that you had planned for international incident. It's supposed to be the ultimate warrior shawn michaels and ahmed johnson. And there's promos out there of those three together talking about this. I would like to see that talking about taking on vader owen. Hart and davey boy. But of course we all recall were either quits or is fired. Whoever you And the team is instead joined by sid. So now sean said and ahmed do you think. The appeal of ahmed gets lost little bit. When you have a guy like said towering over him and.

"But i'm more curious about the whole buddy landale replacement i as. I've gotten a little older. Learned a little more about his story. I'm more fascinated by him than some other characters that we probably won't ever get to talk about. What are you remember about buddy coming in for this. This was a belief during the time of cornet was there and i think according was there or we were doing something during same time rock and roll. Come in some different is from smokey mountain but Yeah but he coming in was interesting. You know buddy landale. I don't buddy since buddies. I joined the business company. And know brown haired buddy landale super nice guy Full of shit but buddy no matter or what in where first of all the nature. Boy buddy landale. My opinion was not a good choice gimmicks. Because you're you're you're a a low rant copy of a guy that lives the gimmick gimmick nature boy ric flair. Who took it from nature. Boy buddy rogers but rick lived up to the nature boy. Ric made the nature. It was whatever it was still doing it at the time. So bunny land was something that i think a lot like lex luger but not to the same extent had a career on potential because every opportunity the buddy ever had to be top guy never panned out in. They tried to admit south tryon in different places to put in that top position. Because buddy could talk in the dressing room. He just couldn't talk people into the building. Let's talk about another blonde strutting around town. It's jeff jarrett. Wants jeff the right. I opponent like for a real program because you know that jeff is capable in ring performer. And he can get heat and etc etc or is there another approach chefs temperament and jeff being able to take someone. Slow him down teachable. Little bit of psychology in set the pace for the match. Ahmed had a tendency to rush through things and go nine million miles a minute. Which would have been fine back in the olden days of Tv wrestling where you go out. And you have to minute matches and things of that nature but the idea about putting jeff with ahmed. Ahmed could learn in. You can have someone that would be general in the rain and be able to lead amid through. Let's let's mention that before. Ninety five is over. Ahmed's gonna win the us w. a title from jerry lawler and drop it to jeff jarrett. Obviously there's a big working relationship here with us w. a. and the wwf but by rumble ninety six. We've got ahmed taking part in his first singles pay per view match. And it's of course against jeff jarrett. They go six minutes and forty seconds amid wins by the q. but meltzer will be pretty critical of his in ring work. He says johnson is really green. The transitions from spot to spot. Where week jarrett tried to carry it. But it's hard when nobody buys johnson being in trouble because he's so physically impressive and doesn't know how to sell to overcome the impressive size after a sidewalk slam. Johnson did a dive over the top rope and crashed into the guardrail. In the process johnson ended a full somersault splash off the top and missed selling the knee. Jerry ease the figure four but johnson reversed it. He tried a second time. But johnson kicked him out of the ring. Jarrett came in with a guitar. Came off the top rope. Smashing it on johnson said for the d. q. And the guitar shot sounded great. Johnson kneeled over from the shot but recovered before jarrett was back in the dressing room and he got up and ran after him but never caught him. So starring a quarter but it is interesting to see sort of meltzer's opinion here that hey. Nobody's buying that. He's in danger because he looked so great physically and of course he's saying that well he probably doesn't really know how to sell yet either because then fair assessment that he such jack dude. It's hard to. It's hard to believe that he's getting beat up again. He did look great and he did look like it was hard to beat him up and he didn't look like somebody that was very difficult to get any heat on but a lot of that comes back to time timing and learning so we knew what we had. We knew that we had someone. Green knew some long. We knew we had someone that needed development so this was know time whereas like okay he's gonna have slowdown. Each every night was a learning experience for him in each and every night he had to just gay. We're going to work on this tonight. We're gonna work on this tomorrow night. We're going to work on this next week in. Continue to let him grow if he had the capability to grow. I.

"Thing and buckle up every day or nine click it or ticket paid for by nitsa chemmy up a little bit about and this is going to be a bit of an awkward conversation. I'm sure but at this point it feels like why it's probably would have been one of the guys pushing for. Hey we need an african american top guy He had certainly set the woods on fire with junkyard dog generation. Before but it feels like at this point that's still sort of lacking in american professional wrestling I know that. W w on the other side had tried it with ron simmons and it was a great effort and we had a lot of great matches and it was a special moment. And it's still very important and we value to this day but he didn't exactly shake out to be the top draw. Maybe that w envisioned when they had tried this with junkyard dog than mid south. Was that a conscious effort that. Hey this is the guy right. I mean it feels. Like i'm johnson. Could have been that guy i yeah. Ahmed could have been greenie. Probably would have been that guy he just again. There's you take sit for example Sid you just looked at said walked into a room and had that that same animal magnetism and sin was going to get ninety five thousand stars on his matches. What have you But he had crispin had something very special about not sits. The same thing with ahmet matter. So i'm ed's gonna make his raw entering debut in defeat. Jake steel with the pearl river plunge. Do you know who would have helped name that and whose idea. This was for a finnish. The pearl river i believe was something that you know in discussions with ahmed back and forth and i do believe the bill watts was involved in this was was just something in telling his story and believe it or not you know routes was was one of the i guess resources use that ahmed was very passionate about and it all just came up where it's gonna come from pearl river mississippi and that's why we came up with pro river. Plunge i don't know if it was watson nightmare michael hayes but it was issued. Take it you take this bucket in power mom that he knows and you give it. His all main is identifiable with men. Let's let's keep it rolling here and let's talk about shawn michaels. Let's remember that he is one of the top guys in the promotion. He's fresh off of a world title match at wrestlemania eleven. We know he's going to be crowned the new champ wrestlemainia twelve and almost right away. You see shawn. Michaels doing a promo where. He's talking about tagging with ahmed johnson survivor series. I mean this has to be one of the strongest debuts in company history he debuts in the first time we see him. He's body slamming yokozuna now. The parents to the world title is talking about tagging with him at the survivor series. Vance just sees money with this guy is you know there's an old adage it's you go back and you look it even the territory days. Where when you brought someone in if you brought them in on top they viewed as a top gop. that's right. It was a lot harder to get someone over if you brought him in underneath and they work their way at the card. Now that takes time to do you bring someone in on top league in. It's somebody that people go holy shit amid was a holy shit kinda guy the bring it on top. They're going to accept them. Is the top guy. The wildcard team at survivor series. Ninety five has shawn michaels ahmed johnson davey boy and psycho said defeating razor ramon yokozuna when harding douglas. So as you run through that. I mean with the exception of dean. It's all top guys and obviously shane. Douglas very capable wrestler. But the dean douglas character never quite got there. But everybody else here. I mean this is main event stuff dude all the way around. Do you remember there being any backlash in the back. I know that sounds silly. But you've got a lot of other guys who have probably been waiting and thinking. Hey what about me and maybe raising. Their hands isn't fair. I've been here this whole time and this guy comes in i. M does that exist for that exists for everybody that ever got to a top spot that with people that felt that they should be in that spot. So you're not sure. Of course it did. I think that no matter what if someone has been there forever and again in that spot. The guys been couldn't do anything with them. Why are they in that spot. Someone new comes in and gets spot. Heya been here forever on that spot. It goes both ways in that is the wrassling businesses. Some people say so. Let's talk about what's next for him. He's gonna program dane. Douglas for an upcoming in your house and the rumor and innuendo at. Tom was ahmed. Was gonna work with king kong bundy to get over on another big man but with shane. Douglas wanting out of the company. The decision is made to have ahmed. Adm on the way out. Is that the way remember that. Originally the plan was bundy. But when douglas sorta gives his notice we adjust court. Kenan the business. Monday every time you cash a check your state money monday. I don't i you know. I really don't i know that i'm ed coming in. Yeah we were looking to do a lot of things with ahmed and you put it with top guys top programs so specifically remember. He was gonna work with bundy bundy. No i sure don't remember that at all. So let's talk. About december eighteenth nineteen ninety-five certainly in the server amid. Johnson is so strong and clumsy. Doing his power moves. That guys who work long programs with him candidates for back problems so clearly. Someone had already put a bug in meltzer's here that they didn't like working with ahmed win. Did you first start to hear the rumblings of. Hey maybe he's not the safest guy out there. I think that when the bell rang a lot of times there you could hear guys say oh man. I don't wanna work ahmed. I'm ed was snuck. I'm it was clumsy. Ahmed was green and still needed work. But you you take that in you try to learn them. All the way down from multiple warrior said on down the line. There are a lot of guys you try to work through that but without a doubt. I think that there was a lot of talent that just by looking at ahmed didn't wanna get hit with any of those clotheslines lines or some of those tackles. Do you remember shane. Douglas having a problem with the bush. Ahmed was getting. I mean it sort of the tale of two guys right like one comes in. He's positioned right away as a top guy. The other guy said success in e cw a prior wb ephron and wcw bunch of tag runs over. There feels like hey man. I got the right. Look i got the right background. Got the right experience and now. They're pushing ahmed. Shane upset with this was or not but again. I think you're comparing apples pomegranates. At that point because one guy as you said had been around he wasn't getting over in that position and ahmed was a new talent. That was coming in was gonna be way. Here's an experiment. Let's let's go with this. We've tried with the tried and true and Charged something else. You're still gonna go with the tried and true but you're going to use them to help get over. So let's mention the The amid dean. Douglas match doesn't happen. Douglas hurts his back. He's replaced with buddy landale. Here's what the right up looks like. I'm ed pin buddy landale and forty two seconds with the pearl river plunge dean. Douglas came out and said he was scratched from the show by the doctor with a bad back but was bringing in landale. His replacement landale came out rick flair old. Wwf music and then he jumped johnson. Who didn't sell anything after the match. Johnson spanked douglas with a paddle lawler than interview johnson. And when jared came back he He broke a plaque over. Johnson's head. jarrett hit him several times with brutal chair shots and the two brawled to the back. Johnson didn't seem to know what to do because the brawl looked pretty bad. So i'm ed wood would mention that he felt like You know his spanking of dean. Douglas was essentially a punishment for dean..

"Dot com and a checkout. You'll see how did you hear about us. Box at least right in the word wrestle and let them know bruce prichard sanchia. Talk me through the name ahmed johnson. Can you offer any insight on how we landed on that name. We've often heard luck with stone. Cold he got faxed list of silly names. And you know frosty mc freeze and shit like that anyway. Do you remember there being an idea of how this ahmed became the way to go. It was a combination of a lot of different names in using creative services but a lot of different people trying to come up with a name. Something new and different Also consulted talent and tony was consultant. Wanted to have a name that he was comfortable with and it was a combination of a lot of different things just fell into place and we landed on johnson his first match. We mentioned july fifteenth nineteen ninety five houston texas. Any chance you were at that show. I mean by ninety five. You're living connecticut right. Yeah but i believe that. It was a television taping as best. I can remember. I thought it was a half show but she could be right. I could be wrong to. We're in the run ever happened. I want to have context of this again. It's july ninety five so we're not too far removed from the debut of monday nitro when when the announcement is i made that hey. Wcw is going live on monday nights and of course we don't know exactly what all the heavens store but just know. Hey they're trying to go head to head. Is it important for you to try to create new. It was like a lot of times whenever we talk with. Jr or yourself. You always sort of gravitate back to wrestling fans want new and case no matter what yeah but does the volume does the search. Come on like okay. We know the savage we know they got hogan at that point. You don't know luger's out but still the somebody somewhere say them. We need to start getting some fresh faces in here. Just in case i think that that i that's probably always the case. It's a matter of you ride. That line of is talent ready and or not. And where's that new going to come from. When you lookit everything that was available time and you lookit just fresh talent in not necessarily new but fresh in in different. Ahmed was fresh in different. Ahmed had just an animal magnetism about him. That made him unique in standout crowd. He was real man. When when when i'm came in you you you felt him come in. When he walks through the curtain he looks and presents. He's a star right. People look yes he could he could come out is is no name smith and people go fuck. Look at that. Look living all and he will. He will grab people's attention long his presence alone. Who do you think he credits with that. Like sort of harnessing the intangible it you know the way to captivate a crowd just when you just busted curtain i mean. I'm not saying that to be funny. But let's teach him that skandar teach him that. Do casey teach. I'm not seeing a lot of like. Oh well that guy obviously or is it. Just something was within him. He think. I mom and dad probably gave it to him. Because when you look at everything else Puppy was an intense guy. Husky knew how how to make an impression income out big and you look at the people that trained him. But what ahmed had was that it factor that you can't just put your finger on and say hey he's got that yes. He has charisma. Yes he has. Cy jesse has look. He has a intensity and everything about it. You know came together with him. I don't know that what man had was special something that was necessarily talk to him. So he debuts originally as ahmed williams in a dark match after the in your house number three in saginaw michigan. If you're keeping score at home. This is the pay per view or diesel and shawn win the tag titles from davy. Yoko and owen. We recently talked about that on Are diesel episodes anyway. I remember that. Ahmed debuts in defeat skip chris candido and meltzer said there was a messed up. Finish any insight into the name change from williams to johnson. I don't even remember that. We ever even call him williams. So there you go. I think that You go back and you go through and try different things and it's funny when you get used to something. I'm so used. Ahmed johnson that i couldn't even like i'm ed williams just doesn't even fit. Yeah arms seems weird. Yeah i'm ed. Johnson is powerful felt bit. I'm ed wood pin rad. Radford in a dark match and then defeat tim knocks and superstars taping. And finally he debuts on television and one of the biggest as we've seen on a monday night raw. It's october thirtieth. Nineteen ninety-five yokozuna. Are beating down razor. Ramon and the one two three kid. When all of a sudden i'm johnson emerges and body slams yokozuna it's written in the newsletter which i'm relatively certain would be the heaviest wrestler in history to go up for a body slam and Yeah bulldog went to attack johnson. And when he saw him he backed off. Smith pin gianetti with power slam. Lots unpack here. But what a way i mean. This was once upon a time the way you got over a new talent or an existing talent is they bought them too. Big guy whether it was hogan and andrei or it's luger yokozuna but for debut slamming. Yoko would probably has heaviest. That's a big deal. And it was a huge deal and part of it was which when you looked at the movable force in the whatever object and all that good stuff was impressive as hell and the the roster looking at. Who could possibly do. That aren't needed me. Something new something fresh if you wanna make a big impact. That was something that ahmed could pull off. Yoka was up for and you know you remember it and people are going. Who the that guy did you see that guy pick up five hundred pound plus yokozuna in slam his ass yes hell way to make a first impression chapman about iago's attitude here you know. We've covered the fact that yoko was the the main event in the world title at wrestlemania nine and ten but here we are on the heels of eleven and he's moving down the card no problem with letting a debut and character body slam him in his first appearance. Not at all. Another thing worth mentioning. I believe this is the last tv taping bill. Watts worked as part of the company before he wound up leaving. Do you remember bill being one of the driving forces behind. I'm really thinking. Hey this could be the future we all did you know it was. It was something that everyone was excited about. Encino man in looking at someone that hadn't been exposed to any great length he'd been on a global gw af. That was it. But he'd been on. So this was really ahmed. First national exposure and you had a blank canvas to work with so everything that you did with him was going to be knew it was going to be introductory would be the first time for him on many many levels. That was the beauty of med. I think that that was something that everybody was excited about. Because it wasn't taking another character in in trying to adapt it to what we do. It was you're creating a brand new character being able to take this animal charisma in this fucking everything that he had and now. You've gotta clean slate. I'm not going very far. I'm in a rush. It's too uncomfortable. Sometimes i just forget. Don't kid yourself. there's no such thing as a good excuse for not buckling up. If you've used any of these excuses or any others you're putting yourself at risk of injury or death and twenty nine hundred. Nearly ten thousand people were unbuckled when they were killed in crashes. That's forty three percent of people killed in motor vehicle. Crashes that were not wearing seatbelts. No matter what kind of vehicle you drive wearing your seat belt is the best defense in a crash even when you sit in the backseat. You still need to back love. That goes for any ride taxis or use ride sharing services to law enforcement or on the lookout and writing tickets so why take the risk. Seatbelts save lives. So do the.

"Mony what is a mode. League is that a profession gimmick and. I'm not familiar with it. Or is it just like a dude's name or whatever he worked as in global. No i got that. But i'm saying you know like we've we've had is a can't come. Dds so we also had like a gi bro. And a super collider right. So i don't think mister collider went to school and they took like roll. Call in the morning collider comma super. Is mr rider here. Yeah we'll know. Mr kleiner. Stevie ray i'm with you but i'm saying mo a bodine was i think of big brother. They're big fluffy pants and stuff like that. So here's the thing when you see this guy you've got gotta be impressed. He's six two six three. Three hundred pounds jacked. I can only imagine you know vince. Mcmahon takes one look at him. God goddamn powell man. You know the thing about. Ahmed was oozing charisma right. He had a look but he had a presence. When you look at a room full of people was going to stand out just stand there. Not doing anything because he he had a presence. He owned the space. He was within. He looks like somebody and it was It was an impressive sight to behold italian. So what's your first impression of him. Besides hey he has charisma. He's big what did you think of his work. Is he just understandably still figuring it out. Well from the stuff that i saw in global. Yeah it was. It was a little rough and he was. He was new so you looked at him and you got put that barometer on it and say he still needs some time and he's he's got to He's got he's got to learn and admittedly everybody saw that however there was a ton of raw talent underneath all of that that i think everybody agreed. The potential of ahmed was limitless. He's going to do a tour of big japan So big japan pro wrestling was a thing back in the day and he even winds up in memphis working for the us wfan. No nothing i know of. I'm like another a new japan. But i don't think there was an old japan either. There was all japan but there wasn't a some japan he say it's all or nothing and it's in its new or nothing and it's bigger nothing but i see what you're saying. Perhaps we should have a little japan and an old japan and maybe a some japan. Well we didn't we didn't. This is confusing it is. Let's talk about this. Though the future. John bradshaw layfield is even going to be working with may the us. W they're gonna feud over the nwa north american heavyweight title. It's an interesting time in wrestling. This is sorta predating social media and youtube this. He gets his first big break with the world wrestling federation through his matches in the us w. a. Does he send in a tape. How do you recall ahmed. I getting a look in my noise. Bringing him to us and saying you got to take a look at this guy as a ton of potential and it was pretty much on michael's recommendation to bring ahmed and take a look at him. So how does that work when you say bring him in and take a look at it and we're just gonna set him up and work dark match before raw or something like that. Yeah back in the day you you would contact talent you try to look at a whatever tape. Whatever is available on On talent at the time Wasn't we didn't have a big internet thing that you could just go online and find tapes of people and find their work so you relied on videotape. He relied on people. Send new things in this case you know. We had saint some tape on him. But we're going off of michael's recommendation brought him into a tv taping. I don't remember where and Come on man. let's take a look at you best. I can see you made his first appearance on july. Fifteenth nineteen ninety-five. It's a house show in houston texas and he's wrestling under. Because that's where we lived is wrestling under his real name Tony norris against rico suave and once he signed his going to become amid johnson he makes his pre television debut. An in your house. Three september twenty fourth. Nineteen ninety-five is t- televised debut. Is october twenty third ninety five so once he gets a look. He's moving up fairly quickly. But we'll circle back to that. I i want to bring this up. He's done interviews where he said when he first talked to you guys. He lied about the his age and the miles. He had on his body At the time he would have been. I think freshly turned thirty two or thirty. Two years old do you remember him representing himself as a younger man. The only other time. I heard that story was the old boogeyman story and that jumped off the page. When i saw that. Maybe i met had done the same stunt. I had never heard that story now. Mounted lied to. Jj or somebody like that but to my knowledge young was never brought up so we should also add context when he's coming into the wwf. Bill watts is here for i. Guess what we could call in hindsight a cup of coffee but jim ross wrote in his book that when bill gets his hands on ahmed or i'm sorry tony norris he wants to call him but johnson and jr remembers rolling his eyes thinking. Oh god please no do you remember that. Even being considered buck johnson as a name for ahmed johnson. I do not Jair would ride. It was the first time. That vince said overruled. The cowboy in a way where it was at least expressed the jr. That bill was upset about it. How quickly the in hindsight do you think the the that be if you will. Vince mcmahon realized. Hey man this bill watts idea. This ain't gonna work well. I think that that was more of bill realizing all of a sudden that. Hey there's there's one person the buck does Actually stop somewhere. And that buck stops the chairman and no matter where you aren't company about stops at the chairman and bill wanted it to stop him and that just wasn't going to happen. Did you realize that some of those big box stores like. Maybe you need to go get some motor oil wiper blades. Those big box car parts stores to pricing tiers one for mechanics.

Who Judges the Judges?
"Your room you don't want to be in something bad has happened. There's a stranger in a suit with your future in their hands. A judge four years ago. That judge was me the people looking up at me then had no choice but to trust me but what had i done to deserve it. Ustralia judicial system operates under a shroud of mistake. Which fans off. Tough questions like this but you will have the right to ask how people like me. Prepare for the job of judging and you may not feel comfortable with the answers. The system needs to change to set the scene first. Let's think about public confidence judges in australia and not elected yet. The power they wield is immense openly. We trust the system because we believe that judges generally get it right if we lose that belief. We risk unbalancing the whole constitution. But we live in a time when blind faith and elites is eroding fast judges are increasingly vulnerable to the why question. Why do you deserve the power we have given you. And so they should be sickened. It's fundamental that judges have to be seen as independent doing their jobs without fear or favor to avoid any pressure from the government of the day judges have higher salaries which can never be cash and they can't be fired for what they say or do and lace. They obviously corrupt ahmed.

That bound them or style. I can't say who founded but if we hadn't have been out there searching he would could. He was not actually a part of the search but he knew that we were out there. You knew that we were searching and he found something that was out of the ordinary Chris so when he found that he knew something wasn't right call down to APD. Tom Com check it out. They went over there. They said it's nothing thing and they laughed. And then he called a sheriff from Sandoval county a detective over there and that he knew you personally and he said come check this out and he went over there and then that detective Frank Thomasson aching because his lobbying he went ahead and called out a team of people because because it wasn't right he knew he could feel his. Something wasn't right and so they went out there and they discovered the boys that tore fighting against I. I can't say anything to to make. It not hurt her or make it better. But I'm hoping that shining some light on on some of the injustice. Listen in on some of the issues in the state might help make it so nobody else has to go through that exactly and that really ultimately my goal is justice for calling in amid obviously by it is just future crimes against our youth. I it breaks my heart. I see it on the news I even before. All this happened always broke my heart. I I always wish there was something I could do. I've always been a helpful person but I never like how had a calling. I guess and I always wanted to get involved in the community but not in the you know just throwing money at the situation. I'm sure I'M I. I don't think that helps because it usually line someone's pocket. That shouldn't be lying. You're and so but I always wanted to do something and now I feel like I I I can do something I can help other families. I can help You know shed light on the situation that our justice the system is just kind of in shambles here in New Mexico and I'm not the only one that's frustrated allowed if people are frustrated and pissed off and they want change changed. But how do you make change. Because there's not enough communication within the community to actually come together and demand it and get it because we're all so spread spread out. Yeah Mexico role as aside from the city and maybe Santa Fe. Yeah the states virtually empty and hand So it's been. How many has it been since they were found while they were found and in December two thousand eighteen? So it's been about a year after year olds do and now the whole process of charging the individuals that were involved in all that is starting to happen starting unfold ler some of the things that you think should be done in the future or work could be done to help prevent what happened in this whole process. I would love to just call out snapchat snapchat right now. Actually you can basically put anything on snapchat and They do not not contact Local law enforcement in the area a lot of things are put out there that are just on in crimes and I kind of even wonder what else is on their child porn. murderer rape things like that. That snapchat doesn't uneven. You know do anything about now facebook. If you were to post something like that on facebook they would immediately contact local law enforcement and get them involved. Snapchat doesn't do that so like supposedly I don't know this for sure Goldman He had a habit of posting very violent crimes on snapchat and nothing was ever done about it. Nobody was ever contacted With by the authorities door with the authorities and stuff and he would just put stuff out there and get away with it basically. I don't that's the rumor right. That is rumor. Ya not heard it from multiple people he would just be living shit out of you and leave you somewhere or it beat the crap out of your party and film it. And then he was looking for some kind of notoriety or something like very like weird serial killer shit. It's just hard to imagine why you know why this all happened. I'm sure you ask ask yourself all the time in I'm sure there's no answer really or at least we don't have one yet. You might have one that you can't share yeah but You know I just my heart definitely goes out to you. And I don't mean that to be patronizing really as a fellow The person who's experienced murderers and crime in my own house. Oh my own family. I know how it it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if these guys rotten jail for the rest of their lives. It doesn't change anything. It doesn't bring your son back. It doesn't and I know that at the end of the day nothing's GonNa bring him back but also at the end of the day you know there there has to be someone needs to answer for their crimes and people do need to do the time for what they chose to do now and I. I said it time and time again. How'd it happened quickly? And you know you're in a vehicle schick it's out of control and then you know it just escalates. And they were shot quickly. If it truly was supposed drug deal gone bad that would have happened. It would have happened very quickly. I would have said you know what happens and it is because I've been when I was younger I wasn't situations like that or had. I had a gun on me and things were happening winning. I may have done something stupid too but they had two hours to think this through I don't think it was an accident. I don't think it was. You know. Shit just went wrong and spiraled out of control. Two hours is a long time to torture someone. That's a very long time. But they also escalate it and kill them. They could have left them out there. They could've stripped them of their dignity. Embarrassed Damn Damn you know humiliated them put it on snapchat everything and then just left them but no they had to take it one step further and kill all them. Though is zero reason for that and I've been told by every single detective on the case Colin was never ever the target. It was a madden another boy calling got into the car instead and he was never supposed to be Har- so that that hurts a lot Not that I would want want it to happen to any other child or mad but it sucks for me like in my as his mother that he was never. He never ever had a problem with these people he never. He knew them through other people. Maybe they were more of acquaintances and I was told over and over again. They never had a problem problem with him and that hurts that it really wasn't supposed to be him. It's just senseless it really it really was. It is either way no matter what boy was in the car and stuff by. It makes even more matt that he wasn't even supposed to be there. What do you think that needs to change with our laws in New Mexico? I think the bail reform law is the number one things is tying of the. DA's hands APD's hands that. needs to be completely reversed. I I think when it first got put into place people thought that it would be low. Level Crimes panhandling. Or you know petty theft or something like that are those types of people that would be released not violent criminals. Nobody read the fine print and said no you have to be a violent offender and and if white risk so even if I go and and shoot up a house right now. I'm a violent offender but I have no connections outside of Mexico. Where am I going to go? I'm not a flight risk. I didn't run from the cops when they came and got me so I get to get out of jail until trial for me to continue on on another crimes. Yeah.

Fabian has been implicated in tampering with evidence. In the case of Victoria. Martens if you're not familiar with that case I would encourage you to look into it man. I spent some time talking about the fact that the bail reform really has changed the face of Justice in New Mexico so much so the people who are being charged with the murders Sir Colin unamed. We're on violent crime spree prior to December two thousand eighteen. I definitely feel that something needs to change here in New Mexico. I hope you'll join me Kamanda in working together to make sure that we can create a brighter future for all new Mexicans especially children. Many of you may or may not know this about me but so my brother was murdered. When I was five years old he was nine months old? This was thirty four years ago. His killer is still free now the issues that are plaguing. Our state are not doc new. They've been happening for a long time. But we as a community need a wake up and really start looking into what we can do to who affect change in this state. I know many people are frustrated and tired and upset but if we all work together and we rise up with one voice we can make real change in the state I believe in that I believe in the power of our community and I believe that we are better than in this New Mexico. So does the in Iran today. Let's listen to Amanda and let's hear what she has to say about the issue so I received a phone call on December seventeen two thousand eighteen that my son calling had gone missing from his friend's house. He was having a sleepover for Over the weekend with them for winter break. He told me that he just got into a car with a friend and left and never came back and I asked him. Why didn't you call me before this? And he said that he thought he was coming back. showed me sent me snapchat videos of The snapchat maps where they were where Ahmed snapchat was was ending up and it was on the West Mesa. I called into work immediately and I went over there and was searching by myself also because I thought you know maybe they got stranded or something so and they have no reason the over there they never really been in that area so I went over there number searching by myself and I actually got into an open fuel at first I was pissed at Colin because he always ends up getting into some jam or something but he's not. AH A bad kid. I didn't think anything too bad. And then but then I got into this open field and my heart just sunk into my stomach and I. I don't know for sure but I feel that is probably where they died I'm not a real spiritual person or anything but something inside. These said something along and I called the police and I need a missing. Persons Report. Didn't know the details of it. I had no idea what was going on. He's never run away before he's never disappeared before so it was. It was hard for me to grasp that something bad happened. And then I went home doc after noon and went to bed and then I went to work the next day still calling his phone. TEXTING has fallen. Like he's going to turn up. This is normal and then and I got another phone. Call from the boy's friends saying that a Video had been released on snapchat got The boys always were being beaten and they were crying and car. Think I don't remember and then I received another phone call. That someone's told me that a girl received a picture of the boys in the back of a car get and so I was freaking out like they can't be dead. I called the other kid back and I was like. They're they're saying there's a picture and he said they're not dead. They're they're not dead. They're out there. I got a hold of somebody. They said that they left him out there to die did they. Just beat them. And they're out there and I immediately went out there with some friends friends and family and back to the area that was searching the day before and we started searching that area early. Good I was only a few of us go and then I think it was the next day by this point. I'm freaking out. I'm losing my shit and I ended up going on facebook and putting out a public post. I need help my son supposedly out here. They said that they left out here to die. It's getting cold at night there naked. They have no shelter no food no water nothing and it was a pretty heartfelt plead for help and hundreds of people showed up hundreds Of people just started pouring in People horses dogs GPS Dirt Bikes. I every any kind of vehicle that you could get on that kind of rough terrain and we ended up searching for two weeks every day there was just more and more people and then on that Saturday before we found them. If I had to guess I probably would guess we had about a thousand people out there. Searching untrained. People were out there searching for two boys that they did not know and it it was amazing. It Really Wise because Colin. I always said nobody liked him You know he would get on people's nerves easily and he just he always had in his his head that you know he was never gonna fit in anywhere and then all these people just showed up kids adults you know every walk walk of life they just flooded into find them at ages. I wish he could I mean I'm sure you saw that in a spiritual sense but I wish she could have seen that people do care about other people in Albuquerque and broke my heart that he he didn't get to see them. Those people out there at any way so for those two weeks when researching you know I'm also hiring dog teams spending my own money to buy food water. We got a lot of donations for searchers in stuff like that too and we were also doing our own investigation on people it. It was mostly through social media. SNAPCHAT facebook instagram. I had people from California that were investigating people. I had a private investigator under that we hire to start kind of like scoping these places out the people who were supposedly involved. But we didn't want to publicly say say this person had something to do with that because everyone was angry with pitchforks and Steph. We didn't want to put an innocent person out there because we didn't know for sure but every single person involved were the people that we picked up ruin day were yes and we did that. I mean a lot of untrained people basically nosy housewives. Were are the ones that we're finding all this information with whips Lutheran were. They did amazing. They picked out every single person in sure. Shit it was all them the only anyone that we did have two suspects for was adkins because his street name is flex. There's about fifty flexes here in Albuquerque. It was either him or another one in that we had found but we narrowed it down to those two kids I say kids but Thurman Surges Young Men Anyway So yeah so we were. We were having to do the.
