"Yes. Right. So lucid a I think one of the meanings of that word is filled with light. I read that you didn't want something too fancy. You didn't want something unapproachable? You wanted something based on traditional pen drawn letter forms, but something that was modern and clear about kind of create. Briefest? Well, remember wanted to do everything for everybody. Yeah. Right. Well, actually at that time we were designing for printers that were three hundred DPI. So we couldn't do a very delicate, but Doni kind of design it had to be something that was tough. I think Jerry munch once described it as a workhorse face and I loved that. That was exactly what we wanted was just a face that would not degrade under these really pretty bad. Printing, conditions legibility was the priority or yeah, absolutely legibility, when you design the Greek characters, I read that the first thing you did was get out your pen and look at Greek manuscripts and figure out how to write that with a pen. And I was wondering why. Well, we start all of our designs with a pen, even something like Lucinda, that's a sand. Sarah, we always sit down with broad edge pens, and we basically caligraphy very simply how we want the letters to look one of the illustrations that were showing back. There is of a poem that I wrote in. A Greek script. It's just the way I like to do calligraphy. I I don't like to go from a model sheet that another teacher did I like to look at a manuscript and figure out how they did it just figure out what the proportions are. And how did they do each letter? And so that was what we did for the Greek have you gone back to any of the earlier lucid, a fons or typefaces and redone them. We recently did redo lucid Agron day for apple because they were bringing out the retina screen and the original lucid Agron day looked a little bit light. So they had us just embolden it just a tiny bit. And there were a couple of letters that people had never liked and this chance to like the five they said that the five looks too much like an s so we redo the five that's fine. What other letters didn't? They like they didn't like my anchor sand. Why? Well, they thought it looks like a crooked back or something. I thought it looked great. But I said, okay, I can do it. So and so tell us what it was like to work with apple. It's been always great to work with apple. I never actually met Steve Jobs myself, but Chuck did go to a meeting, and he was there and I exchanged emails with him. And he was always very kind to us and the people that that were in the groups that we were working with. We're just always very. Very very respectful of what we were doing for them. We also did for them apple chancery. Yes. The story there is that they apple was bringing out a new technology called g x and g x is basically what open type is except that g x lived in the operating system. So it didn't have to be supported by all these different kinds of software. It was a great idea. And so they called us in. And they said we want you to design a font that has a lot of alternate characters that shows off what g x can do. And they showed us a page out of an Italian writing masters book. And we said, okay, we can do it. And I just sat down and drew all these variations of the characters see final forms and initial forms and small caps and fancy small caps in the end it had a thousand and one characters in it. And I wanted to name it side for the thousand one nine isn't that a great idea? Great idea. No it didn't. Leave. No, it wouldn't fit on the pull down menu. So they rejected migrate idea. And they called it apple chancery, and that's really creative..

"I'm Jim de we got us. My partner is Gregg cut, and we are revealing and revelling in our best albums of twenty eight teen before we get back to our choices. Let's hear from some people who are an integral part of team sound opinions. You hardly ever hear from them. Our producers we're gonna start off with our favorite producer, Alex Claiborne, Alex, what was your album of the year. Thank you, Jim for the kind words I wanted to pick something that we haven't talked about on sound opinions this year at all which is the record sweetener by our in Agron day. This is her fourth studio album. It was released in August of twenty eighteen and at this point, she's already established, you know, pop star. She has her own style. That's pretty distinct. And also, I think something you can't dispute that she has a very good singing voice. She's a talented vocalist for this record in particular. It's one of the most versatile pop albums of the year. And I'm still listening to it even months after its release and sonically. I think it's really beautiful. You know, it's top level pop production. You have collaborations with frail Williams. You have collaborations with max Martin that Swedish SuperBeets, sir. I, you know, her voice is especially just really angelic. But also, very empowered on this record. This is the most confident in my opinion that she's ever sounded. And I think the vocal difficulty. This is the highest difficulty that she's presented thus far of her four records, and you can listen to it whenever or wherever the tracks. Varied mood wise. You have these massive singles not left to cry. And God is a woman. We also have more introspective songs about things like addiction, depression, anxiety, and sort of these less savory subjects that in pop music. I think people can skirt around sometimes and the song I wanna play today is actually a continuation of what she started on sweetener, which is sort of the theme that we can't control what happens to us in life. But we can't control how we respond to it. And that's a song. Thank you next. And it's broken up into. Three parts. The first part is about the past. The second part is about the present. The third is about the future in the past. She talks about some of her Xs in the relationships that she's had and how she's really learned a lot and she's come away. A better person. The middle portion is about improving yourself reflecting on. How far you've come in. You know, just Levin on your close, friends and family, and the people that mean, the most to you, and the last part is really about hope for the future, and knowing that the things that we endure as humans we endure them because we can come out the other side stronger. And also, it's just a bop. It's just a fun. Great music video certain make it sound like a progressive rock song. We're going to thirty seconds of it in there. Maybe well, we'll see. But even though this song is not on the record sweetener. I consider it an extension of what she began on that record and the same vibe. So this is thank you next by Arianna Guerande sound. We have to says. Pace. So that was thank you next by Arianna 'Grande on sound opinions. Thank you LX was an excellent choice. And I have to say, I mean, all the big pop albums of the year. And I put like Drake and post Malone in there, Arianna ground was definitely the most fascinating. But I think I kind of had you pegged as Cardi B Roddick here, here's a couple. So then Cardi B made a great record. Excellent album. She was on my list. Genera, Monet, Robin. I had a great list Casey musk graves was also on my list. So it was tough to pick. But this was kind of what I was feeling right now..

KENDALL Jenner is a model herself, and she said, since the beginning, we've been super selective about what shows I would do. Very hard well the US securities and Exchange Commission. We know from the Wall Street Journal report is intensifying its scrutiny of. Looking. At are they looking at detailed financials a. Solid proposal how much did they know before the announcement Essentially, the the the the question really is. Lined up solid proper financing and that. Those, questions are going to continue until. We get further confirmation or some sort of formal announcement and beyond what we've seen so far which are just tweets and I think a simple statement and. As you say read I suppose one of, the questions is, to what extent shareholders actually knew about Elon? "To what they say elsewhere and now i've got lynn print so the complete dog book just came out it's a wonderful beautiful book about purebred dogs and in this book they explain what a responsible breeder is and they in essence are totally contradicting themselves you could read that about lend my blog again that steve dale doubt tv carry myers puppy no project always good to talk to you and congratulations on all the great work you do thank you steve i appreciate that good to talk with you thanks and the you know it's not warm out yet and i don't want you'd be lulled into the idea that because it's warmer that we can leave our dogs or even catch you know people's let their cats outside which drives me crazy i know if you've had a cat that's been indoors outdoors it's entire life then i do understand why that cat demands to go out and why cats are usually in charge right so while you're listening cheer cat that i understand but unconcerned about those cats that are outside one concern is they look for a warm place and cats are very very smart so what they sometimes do as they huddle under or slide under a car hood which is like an electric blanket to them so here's why i'm a fan of tony orlando remember that knack three tantalizing knack three times on the car hood in the morning to make sure there is no cap that slid under the car hood unless you park in a closed garage at there's no way a cat can get inside knack threetimes on your car hood now in florida while it's even colder pigs confli right well iguanas can fall from the sky they are a guan as imagine now you're walking down the street and you're in florida and in a guana falls on your head agron as are so cold that they are literally freezing up they are our and they're falling from wherever they are and if they survive the fall and don't break anything because they can get a broken bone that way you know falling from a tree that's way way up there abut and if they don't fall into a swimming pool and drown or if they don't fall to where there's a road and.

"Doctors on twitter stunning how many doctors follow me on twitter others said right away it was broken no doubt i got the it's broken no doubt tweets how about that no doubt it's broken just from watching on tv so pittsburgh dominate the first half possession they end up with this fantastic touchdown drive the goes fifteen plays and at that point him thinking wow this steelers team has got the goods and and they still do what i haven't changed my opinion but watching that particular touchdown drive that lasted thirteen plays over nearly nine minutes you recognize that they've got a t they've got a package that can beat the new england patriots and i like the way that lend it to us yvonne gilmore is holding hands with martavis bryant in the end zone they're going for a sunday stroll in martavis just end up catching the touchdown with his other hey and but the patriot answer back right this is how it was going to go in the second half a twelve play drive to open the second half that includes a fourth down and one two grog which i think would be some foreshadowing for later in the game just a perfect pass precision pass inside from tom brady to agron who is single covered and was way more than the steelers defense could handle it turns out to be points off turnovers than that give the steelers their 24 to sixteen lead a late third quarter interception by tom brady under pressure and you realize that tell what the miami dolphins did to tom brady same thing that the steelers were doing if you're going to blitz in you got gotta get him if you're going to blitz him and go after brady you have to hit him because if he releases.

"And and some of the emphasis on a on not having a agree just violence in the game may be getting through and so i think that these particular incidents were were more anomalies than than anything else but we we all see them we all focus focus on them the the thing that i thought there was really bad was agron caskey play because that was after a play as over one player is in a vulnerable position in not expecting to be hit and he gets hit in may be the most vulnerable spot on the body which is the back of his head the back of his neck the other plays happened with in the context of the of the game and so i don't think that they should necessarily be penalised as heavily as as drunk asking factor in a more more i thought about it caosc you should have received an even heavier penalty but prime before we are eager to you i know this isn't particularly your expertise and that you're into cycling and and other other stuff but do you have any final thoughts about this i don't know if here football fan but you have any thoughts about this in i am a football fan and i think that you know it's all part of the greater sporting thing which is you know sport is essentially gladiator games and it's war without the weapons and so you know we can't have it both ways amina we we want these guys to go out there and essentially beat each other up and and prove it you know new england as stronger than denver etcetera and and that is also the risk of sports but that was brian fogel he directed the documentary eker us that exposed russia's statesponsored doping program he was with us from malibu california also with a sports writer and journalism professor kevin blackstone with us from our studios here in washington dc and cnn writer aj willing him with us from atlanta thank you all so much for speaking with us thank you thank you thank you now to something cut a boring it's actually been called legendarily boring tedious and among.
