"A totally cancelled it out and some moments where it's like I'm like Oh my God like this. He's hitting this high note but he's saying Boogie. Woogie Ya Ya at the same time so like what the hell does this. Does this count. Do I give it points but I do give points for ostentatiousness for flamboyance for pageantry and ridiculousness? I basically. I'm giving all the points to two Steven Tyler. Sorry Joe Perry. He is winning on this album and in particular Because yeah it's very convoluted it's way too long and it's a shame because like it would be great see aerosmith is the ban that they're gonNA perpetually fake out their retirement you know they're always going to have like Oh. This is the farewell but not really just like their their album. Had To have seventy more. You know seven more tracks than it needed They're just gonNA keep doing encore forever. Rather than having kind of like a tight cohesive Strong ending which I feel like they are capable of if they wanted to end with a really strong album. This could have potentially been it but as you said Mike the Editing is not there and that's a huge part of artistry is editing And that's usually with lacking on the albums that we talk about on this show so yeah so negative. Three so Well I WANNA say thank you so much to Martin for spending the last two hours of your Sunday with us ranting about aerosmith and and Blacklisting you from any future interview. I hope that this is so in depth and so sincere that if they actually watch this and and literally went through it from start to finish they'd be probably agree with almost everything we said and they they probably realized this is probably the first people who said no to us in a long time. That is the biggest compliment we could ever get as a show. 'cause I appreciate that. We are sincere. We're not just haters. The we are that do the so Martin tell us about history and five songs tells about all the projects you have going on the new rush book Plug anything you WANNA plug again. We've got a youtube show called the contrarians where we We find a band where one of the three of US thinks. Their best album is unawed choice and then that person has to argue that album. So that's good show. I love that I would. If he ever want to negotiate the crossover let us. Yeah so basically all that stuff like I say. A lot of mail order Got A BLUISH TO COPE VISUAL HISTORY. "A right everybody. What could have been love is terrible? A eight eight hate. That song sounds like Bryan Adams. It's it's if I could then go where you will go. That's that's the song same. Spa This is. This is as bad as they get with these ballots. I mean this is again. Marti Frederiksen being in there as a song doctor in that modulation to the chorus again. Just a yes. This is And this is one of the before that is an on this bloated album of fifteen. I mean don't have much more to say about it except that it just does does not sound like the aerosmith that you know. I grew up on an until angel. Angel starts this whole thing. Run Primitive vacation. And then we've got literally a dozen or fifteen or twenty of these Starting then yeah it also just a Frankenstein. Version of like six other songs. I I heard the wherever you will go. I heard like Raspy Luke Bryan singing like Oh towns all or nothing. I heard what about you think it's all it's all busy. Do exactly who it is. It's just a patchwork of all the pre existing bad right with like lame ass live laugh long. Lost Love lyrics like it's fucking boring it socks. It's definitely I think the worst so far in least it does the least in it. Does it very poorly drained? Jesus this is another seven minute. Track lots going on here. It's got that train robbery chug a Chug chug a trigger thing going there. They're intentionally calling back to sweet emotion except instead of sweet show it's street. Jeez ooh AH song. It's like how much dollar cost by. Kendrick Lamar accepts. Jesus the Jesus that is like testing you out in the public has no feats. Jesus no feet. They mentioned it over and over again. I miss that. I miss that entirely overjoyed. I have you have you heard the news. Somebody stole my shoes and I can smell the booze how indiscreet and though I had a plan after that thief Outran in to another man who had no feet swear to God that day. That guy with no feet say you've got to walk my way. That's how it's plan. That's what I thought good. Grief just ate my belief until I saw the holes inside his hands. I think it's a reference to the footsteps poem about Jesus but either way it doesn't matter was Jesus because he has no feed Jesus carrying you stumping along this the devil went down to Boston. Yeah Yeah exactly. This is this is basically I mean. This is the one that that Joe Talks about. Being the sole of Aerosmith at Brad brought it so this is a Bradford Song. Apparently right. It's the fastest song of the album again. It's the heaviest Song. It's the one where You don't feel it at least when the versus going. You don't feel too overwhelmed by the production. But again you listen to the drumming. Sounds like a combination of Tom. Tom's doing some stuff snare and bass drum. And you're not hearing. Hi You're just you're thump thump thump. All through it and and again it's got that Twangy Joe Perry looking for a different guitar sound although this is probably one of his most signature ones. When he's doing something heavy at sounds like a little bit of something off of his solo album that he would do like he he has this he goes back to this whole dangerous. New York dolls sort of style that he likes it. Time re wants to be. You know the outlaw punk rock and roller so this is aerosmith being as punk rock as they could ever get I suppose. Punk rock tends to be not seven minutes long going. GonNa take issue with that can characterization just slightly here because Jesus fucking Christ what a Goddamn opus like. Jesus Christ three Jesus Christ live good God Almighty supposed to be about love. You must have wished upon me by kissing the glove. I'm a highest step in lovers. Sharp knife I'm a pink Flamingo. Auto great log life. Like I'm like I get that. They're trying to cost play relevance but it's so ostentatious and over the top and weird and ridiculous that I almost admire it in a weird way. I do think that sonically like sound wise. As you mentioned in the verses with the Chug Chug and you got that kind of like breakneck pace you get that like energy and it and it kind of it almost kind of works but it's just so ridiculous it's so preposterous. Definitely another one. Where I you know. I don't necessarily love the song but I. I admire the audacity the Chutzpah the yeah the Jewish. They really went for it right. I don't get it what it's is it. A commentary on religion is a it doesn't matter it's the devil went down in Boston and it's almost works. Although it shouldn't be seven minutes long. Nothing on. This album should be seven minutes long at all. So shall we move onto the next to shirk? Our eight one is well. Oh God oh God I have a good one liner about this one. Next one is can't stop loving. You followed by lover. A Lot. Spelled Lover L. O. V. E. R. And then a lot without a space in between it. I guess also can't stop loving you featuring Carrie underwood that's right. Oh yeah this is the fucking ball..

"All right let's go ahead and read those. Those lyrics said They're practicing again right there. If you WANNA take a lookie cookie tonight tonight be your Lucky Ninety night. How they go deja booty? You're a Ya Ya baby tonight. Do do the looted out on doing blues. Ioka at a biker. Bar FOR SEVEN MINUTES PERCENTS. Wow yeah that's crazy. That's long for a song. That right mean he just likes making sounds right and and again he's just celebrating his own past somewhat and celebrating his love for the blues. I guess at the same time but yeah it's it's it's crazy but I mean he is. He is kind of the the rapid white guy. He's the guy that kind of invented. This right okay. First of all there's been so much of our show that has just been dedicated to terrible white people wrapping that I can now that you give him credit but also the blame and this is your baby tonight. That's not good. We don't know that's musical antimatter. That is the. I'm being sucked into a black hole of taste with that. It's return of Bruno Rock. It's fucking terrible. I do not consent to Steven. Tyler's nookie cookie. I do not want it one bit. It's like I wrote. It's like a fucked up Dr seuss book exactly and it's long sorry at the music and again you've got okay. What are we gonNA use instead of? Hi Hat again. We're GONNA make the cowbell happened. How Bell it's it is total stripper rocket. I mean in terms of the be You've got a the female backing vocals are back again. You've got one of those. A sweet and sour for our and be kind of melody is an obscure melody on the chorus. So it's Kinda got begging year to the forest. Where where he you know? They're trying to sound sophisticated and again. You could call it. The Beatles last psychedelic thing. But it's more of a. It's more of a searching for odd melodies just to be different but in not really working. Yeah Yeah because you know they'll throw you. They'll they'll throw for a loop little bit with when they go and do that. Particular court change in the chorus with the like thx. Room sound and the and the the ladies backing vocals but it is still mostly just pentatonic but they bear it for so much. The song that it doesn't feel that special when you get when you get the little odd chord change and that comes from the song last child. Right last child's kind of the song that is this is a a reduction of last chattel off of rocks. Nine hundred seventy six. A little bit that They they kind of are pretty big on that inventing. You know they're one of the band's who did it best or most often this this This slow funky heavy metal thing. I mean it comes a little bit from led Zeppelin but not really Aerosmith or kind of the ones who did a lot of that so yeah. This is basically last child over again. Yeah Yeah but with lyrics like look on Kuci and romance on Cupid to call but it's cool to cool for cats a little bit of this a little bit of that. This is one of the ones that said seemed a little bit close to self parody But I I am also. I'm going to give them credit because I really on this album. I was expecting that rolling. Stones dirty work hangover energy. I expected this whole album. Sound a lot more tired and yeah. They sound extremely energized on this track. Yeah Yeah I yeah I guess you can give them that. They have to be energized for fucking seven plus minute long song. Just got that running on fumes energy and that goes back to everything everybody said about the draw the line out nineteen seventy seven after rocks rocks is real energy and draw the line. They're running on fumes and here the running on fumes on junk food right you know junk food and red bull basically every desparation as you mentioned earlier. Martin that that energy is more of a desperate frantic energy than like A rock and roll energy of confidence and swagger were. There's definitely in terms of feel like there's probably two different flavors of you know extremely era rock albums from legendary bands. It can either be like we're just doing this to fulfill this dude this obligation to labeling collected check and there's like we need this to survive so we're going to pull out all the stops. Yeah I think those are the two approaches you can take. This is definitely the second approach right and it's also just like it's so transparently like try to make this. Like an edgy. Cool Saugus show. How cool we are talking about Deja duty and cool for cats the looking cookie and coochie addictions I. Just you don't just don't want none no one saying coochie. Just just stop. Just stop talking about like roses are read my lips on you. Oh man it's very silly. I say I mean like should aerosmith have made in two twelve. Probably not Is this the best album? Aerosmith could have made in two thousand twelve minutes. I would say maybe no this this as you mentioned the best version of this would have been half of it. Maybe right right. Yeah the big thing again. The big story always out of these guys is this crying wolf thing. Everybody knows what Aerosmith's should do mate and they think they can do it but you mentioned it earlier Mike I mean number one. I don't know eight or nine songs but certainly may be make make an eleven song album and you know as they always say long before they're gonNA make an album in an interview. They say we gotta get into room and sit down and hammered out in. That never happens. And that's what all my quotes from these guys always say it just gets more bloated and bloated and bloated all the time more second guessing but no I mean I think they probably could get down and do an album like rocks again in. Everybody would want that. I mean that Van Halen album that last one. They did a different kind of truth. That's a new. It's always harder harder member but that that is the that is the gold standard of just just putting out a raw rocking heavy album Other bands to get close Kisses not doing too bad recently with those last two from the Tommy era but I mean this is what everybody wants to aerosmith because there is so much hope in in Aerosmith so could they have done it. It's it's almost possible. They almost think they could have because they have been great songwriters in the past. But I don't know if you wanted to short in this day and age to look too much like an EP. But yeah if they would have just. They brought Jack Douglas back but only used them a little bit. It Still Marti Frederiksen and Steven and Joe and Jack Douglas Producing. There's there's only the one song I think it was this last song that sounds like Jack. Douglas producing at least a little bit in the guitar. Sound but basically an album just with Jack and don't steamroll over what Jack says. Listen what Jack says Because Steven Tyler is probably the biggest guilty party all of this. Yeah I mean. They could've been they actually. I think they could do it They just they just never willing keep crying wolf and not right. I mean yeah like like you're saying like in order to sit down and edit and have a frank conversation about what deserves be beyond the album. What does it would help if you know you. Don't all hate each other and I think that's a conversation. You can't really have if you're going into it already at each other's throats and that's how you end up with an album with no editing was fifteen tracks with every production trick in the book and a seven a seven minute song called out. Go the lights. That has an nonstop Cowbell for seven. And also it's crying wolf in the way. I love that term that you're using it's also it's it's relevant in the sense that they're always crying wolf about like retiring or of about it being the end like this big final summit statement and. I think that's another thing that they get trapped in on this album is like they're trying to kind of do something retrospective but they're also trying to do something. That could be commercially viable. They're trying to be too much too. Many people at a ends up. Just being fucking muddled mess with some very very do fee ridiculous nonsense lyrics and weird experimentation that. Yeah that are occasionally Hilarious and entertaining and often. Pretty pretty awful really start doing tricks time. I was GONNA say well we should. We should definitely feel like legendary child might need. Its own moment and then I think after that we should go to at time. Yeah because okay legendary child. This is an the next song and this one was. I think the single didn't perform. Well nothing on this album performed well. But did you see that? They did a remake of the song for the Patriots. No okay so that's why so like this is like the dropkick. Murphys had tessie aerosmith tessie. But what's so funny so they did We're GONNA listen to the song and then we're gonNA. We're GONNA listen to the rewritten version. That is literally an anthem for the New England Patriots and about Tom. Brady is the legendary child. What's so funny about. It is that this was put out on the aerosmith like YouTube page. And there's like a thousand views on it like nobody. People listen to our podcast. Then listen to this fucking aerosmith. More people listen to comb on Steps Marlin Song. I don't know about that so okay so let's go ahead we're going to listen to the original and then we'll listen to the Patriots remake. This really fucking funny.

"Everybody know who you am. Let everybody know who you am. That's where we're at guys. It's twenty twelve aerosmith. That's the first song I first track on the album. Everybody know who you am. That's where we're at if I don't WanNa love somebody who can't properly conjugate to be once let alone three times a day. So who are you fooling? They are made out of dust. Right all loving three times a day. They've all had like recent surgeries for their joints. I would be concerned if I was their doctor and and Steven. Tyler told me that he was loving three times a day. Yeah so right off the back of ragging and making you feel bad. So that's the first. I got a few things to say about this one so so yeah I instantly. You hear this production that I've always called carsick production. It makes me carsick right on it. And there's only two bands of do this. This is very different from DEF leppard production which I have other complaints about. There's only two bands at do carsick production as aerosmith and Bon Jovi. And what what what happens is that you're hearing this melody go. But you don't know what instruments are making it. Just it's just. This idea of melody built up I mean. Are there guitars? A dozen even sound like regular guitars air. Is there some sort of strange synthetic keyboard pad? That's making this melody. You don't know what's doing it and the other reason you don't know what why would still what's doing. It is because the drums are so huge and they even sound synthetic. You never hear anything. That sounds like anymore very often proper hijack any of these drums. You just here. This is just like one of these big tribal to do right so so all of these things are built up. You also here Aerosmith has this bad habit of modulation melody in the middle of things and it and it just it's just this segment of big stadium. Affected supposed to feel ethic but it it sounds basically like nickelback or something in the last. Elliott. WanNa stay. A one more thing is that they do this annoying thing and they started doing this probably on on get a grip more. So and and the hair metal bands did this to try to look smart and this this idea of. Let's take the psychedelic part of the Beatles. And let's do these. These psychedelic vocal melodies and things that make you sit. Make these guys sound like Like they like Yoga. And there's Animal Yup Norwegian would idea right so hair bands. Did it as well a lot of God into this? Aerosmith does a lot and it always sounds annoying. So you get this. How aloen in over the so all of a sudden you're getting ear moment on on this thing that's supposed to be the biggest song right so all of a sudden vocal melody is just making you sat and I love that you are coming out swinging right now and we'll you'll interview these guys again right. Well they will they agree. That's the weird. They're very candidate. Joe and Brad and Tom will all be very candid about S. And they'll know yet you're right you know because they don't have a lot of self confidence about what they're doing and that's a shame for a band that's like the biggest of all time like they should be able to feel confident and be able to wrestle what they're good at and this they're just it's way too much. I mean it's completely and I'm so glad you mentioned that like Beatles that kind of the Strawberry Fields. Relax and go downstream. They do that a lot on this album. And I'm glad that you like noted it on this particular song. They wanted it. I Guess Steven Tyler describes it specifically as BEATA LAST. They were trying to do a. Beatles thing is Aerosmith in twenty twelve trying to do a Beatles thing like what what what are we doing? Who needs that? Who wants that? I apparently Julian Lennon is doing backing vocals on it. But you can't hear it because of that mix it. You mentioned just that like. He got his credit though. Everyone got their credit. That's right yeah the vocal sound I was just GonNa say like legitimately. It doesn't just like it's not just like phone Dan metaphorically or it literally sounds like Steven Tyler found the last living payphone and delivered his vocals from it quarter by quarter and the American idol. Parking lot like he probably did he He's pretty you know he really belts on some of the other tracks. Somebody's keeping it quiet on this one. He's not using either of his diaphragms. We just have to diaphragms like Chad. Kroeger to Dick's you know doing wonton. Or they're not using protection now the But yeah it is. It is very as you mentioned very loud very over over produced overblown so many layers so many layers that it makes your head spin. You don't know what you're hearing and if I can pick out another thing that annoys me about aerosmith and undersung particular a Lotta. The songs in this album is that Steven Tyler is from allston. He's from he's from Boston. Yup and yet he is doing this like Tin Pan. Twang this digging the bread pan picking out dough sorta right put on put on southern inflection. That is just like come on dude. Everybody knows that you are from Boston. There's no further interest from Twang than the way people talk and Halston enough. You hear our voices. There's not a lot not a lot of Twang in. It's more of the thing is. He's basically celebrating his own. Pass from walk this way when he started doing this. He's been doing this all his life so I mean a I mean he does love the blues and all that it does come a little bit from that but it basically. He's parodying his own band. When it's do yeah I did. I wrote a few songs that this is Al borders on self parody like. I almost wonder if they're on it. Sometimes they're just they're just having a laugh about like. Yeah this let's just. Let's just get as ridiculously over the top as aerosmith. Possibly get yeah. I don't think they are. I think they just basically feel that. Lack of confidence makes them feel they have to cover all the bases of their past and so they just kind of do it. And and the label likes it and they all those ballots so they wanna just do the one where beat last thing just to mention you see me crying. Some toys in the attic in nineteen seventy five is a beautiful Beatles esque ballad and so so they knew how to be Beetle. Ask inspiring ways all through the past but this. This annoying psychedelic beat. Last thing never works. I mean age never sounds good. I'm sure we could probably find examples in aerosmith where it is kind of cool but the other reason you know people wanna be beat. Alaska is that I mean. These guys were were absolutely. Their lives were changed by the Beatles thereof that age where Beatles matters to the but to call this beetle ask I mean I saw that too. He said we were trying to be. There's nothing beat Alaska about long. It's just it's just that one little thing about an obscure thing very few people know about vocal melodies s saying. It's not Beatles asked lyrics like this. Aren't Beatles hot monkey sex on a hot tin roof. You be higher than a shot of a million proof. It's the same old same old same old couldn't in the Tain I don't audit either the used. He used this language when he did his autobiography. It's like an old William Faulkner book so heartbeat as he literally spoke this whole book in the same language. You couldn't you couldn't read. It was too distracting. Well so sick his own little finnegans wake about. Here's what I wrote down when you getting out of jail. We're going to all have fun. Where's your game face baby? Don't look so sad. I'm the best damn lover that you ever ever had love three times a day. I'm a lover I'm the cat's meow. I Never GonNa stop and I never know how now of course this is. Also he just searching for the next aerosmith catch phrase. That will be used all the time while. Now let's throw fifty of them out there and hope one or two of them sticks. I think it's going to be hot monkey sex on a hot tin roof. That's the one that's to the or kissing high heel lovers with the serious swirls or nationality. Nothing at all or nothing at all these things. Yeah zero of them. I don't know that there's anything aerosmith could have done in two thousand twelve to make a new catchphrase that everyone would say right right. It's Joe Biden. Right with his with his boss Yes. There is definitely some Joe Biden energy on this album. This does there. There are some lyrics that read like Joe Biden. Harry Yeah Yeah. It's in a lot of it reminds me of Joe Biden in many many many ways that I won't get into Because it's too early to get that angry. So let's should we move onto the next one? Let's go right ahead. Oh Yeah Oh yeah. This is great so next song is called. Oh yeah.

"This okay so i. I don't think we actually officially mentioned the name of the album. So we're talking about music from another dimension with an exclamation point You know if they need. They felt that they needed to add an exclamation point to imply excitement. Probably not a great sign but Came Out in two thousand twelve. But you're right mart and there's this huge kind of like they had been talking about it for like five six seven years already about releasing this new album after. Honk on Bobo. Which is the funniest of the coverage? Just a just to her Monica. So you know what Bobo is and what honking on it implies you know that's so cute and as I was telling Heather I couldn't find my copy of music from another dimension for the same reason honk on. Bobo can't be found they. They made an oversized version with that harmonica. So it's stored I think with my DVD's but but even my music from another dimension. I think is is this large size. That doesn't my CD rack so I mean all sorts of problems with this a big problem right now. I can't find my copy of it. Did with some box set somewhere right well. Big Problem was listening to it. I'll say because it was really really bad and some really spectacular fund ways But yes we're GONNA talk about some of the problems that befell the production of this so as you mentioned. They got distracted in two thousand eight by Developing Guitar Hero. Aerosmith which is basically what. This album is aerosmith's guitar hero soundtrack. You know they have their priorities straight. They were making video games from themselves. Then Steven Tyler little bit after that had to go to rehab because he was addicted painkiller actually I can I stop you for a second ran a hat or he went to Rehab yes. He fell off the stage. Oh yes and got severely injured honestly to the Sergeant Pepper's lonely hearts club band scene where Steven Tyler gets electrocuted and falls off the stage. He I mean he died from that in the movie but similar he didn't die but he broke his knees or something like he really fucked his body addicted to painkillers and when he was in the hospital none of his bandmates visited him in the hospital. And this almost broke up the band. Joe was talking publicly about replacing him. And looking for replacement any Kravitz was talked about right. I mean and they were hearing I just. Recently I saw one of those little Click Bait pictures with a headline that says rockstars that turn out to be not very nice people. And there's a picture Steven Steven Tyler there right. So it's like it's like you know there's a lot of infighting that's the problem so leading up to this album you hear about all this bad blood You know and then later on we you know another very recent story is how Joey Kramer was locked out of showing up to rehearsals to drum on the thing because he had an injury and they said is not very good anymore. We're just going to replace him to get an. He was turned away by security guards. He was to show up for his own band. This wasn't this at the Rock and halt role or the that. Was this year at twenty twenty right now with the biggest thing. I think it might have been in Vegas but you know. It's it's this unfortunately like like they just have this There's all these Kind of Narratives that we don't hear about very much but this is one band. That really should be proud of the fact that they've had the same lineup. Essentially throughout with just a couple of little blips in there in seventy nine eighty. You know they did. An album called Called Rock and a hard place Where that we're both guitarists were different. But it's still an amazing aerosmith album. That's the cool thing about it but other than that. They've had the same lineup. It's it's very unique to have. This happens easy top. While we won't get into that they had some other a little little things there with their lineups but so they should be proud of this and they you know. How hard is it to drop her? Aerosmith it's based despair as trump's there to do and at a very slow speed because the songs are so full of production they can't go very fascinating more right very heavy the twelve part harmonies and. Oh my God. It's it's wild itself. That drumming is so simple that on one of the songs on this album. Steven Tyler plays the drums. I think part of the Helms fifteen tracks long and I think long I think maybe part of that. Everyone wanted to get their song credits in like this. This album has song credits from everyone the band. There's a songwriting credit from I believe Joe Perry's son. There's a songwriting credit from multiple other CO writers. And the woman who wrote. I don't WanNa miss a thing. Wrote one of the songs and I think like this is maybe something or you trimmed it down to like eight or nine songs. Albums you stay in the seventies. You might actually have a piece now. If you're an aerosmith fan you would think it's a decent now not my cup of Tea. But but it's so bloated with like actually it's bloated mostly with extraneous ballots like six ballads on this album. Yeah that's way too many. That is breaking an unwritten rule of of of rock. I feel like you know. I think the rule should be one valid two at most three. If you're rb performer. Yeah how do you feel about ballads and Rock Martin? While yes so as I was saying before I mean that one of the worst things aerosmith did was. They started off with Angel in On on permanent vacation and that was written by the Song Dr Situation. I can't remember if it's Actually Diane Warren in that case but you know in Aerosmith it's really bad because this is supposed to be a stolen Z. Rock and Roll Band Dangerous Band. Who write the real. It's a five piece band. You should be able to write your own material. And then they actually you know their first. Big Hit was a ballot dream on but home tonight was a great song. You see me. Crying was a great song. These guys actually when they did it themselves did really really good ballots. But then they slowly started going downhill. Jamie's got a gun is not a bad song but then you know as as Mike was saying. We'VE GOT DIANE WARREN ON HERE. We all fall down. We've got Mardi Frank Frederiksen as a song doctor. He's all over the place. He Song Doctors for all sorts of people did stuff with Scorpions. And I think he's done def Leppard as well So you know I. It's these fans. What what I hate about this. The most is is the ballad thing and and you know the bad thing about the ballot thing and having a Song. Dr Do it is like this is supposed to be your most intimate. Tell-all moment it's it's you know you're you're being emotional here and but it somebody else's emotions talking about this ballot and the other thing you know that. I just hate about this general the song doctor thing. It's almost like you know if if this was the NFL. And Tom Brady said you know I'm here. I'm the New England. Patriots quarterback this year but representing me on the field. All Year will be Brett Farr. You know what I mean like. This is your being is your songs. You're supposed to be the name says aerosmith. That's what's on the ten. You're supposed to write your own songs. I just I really and it reminds me of I. I was listening to Roger. Daltry interview the other day and it's just like stopped talking. Roger. I don't WanNa hear about how you're channeling pete songs and you're interpreting a manure just an actor and all this like. I write your own song. So that's like I want to hear your voice singing your song. So that's it just seems like just a completely to do this in Aerosmith. Does it worse? And you're and you're right my best. There's tons and tons of ballot on here. I've got a quote from Joe area. Thought if you don't mind let me let me read this. Because he says about the ballots. This was quite refreshing. He goes Where where do we have this here? So the songwriters okay. So that's about while here here all I'll start at the top so I asked him about the outside songwriters I guess I he goes pro this so this is an interview I had with him. I was telling me heather when we were doing this I go. I interviewed.

Drummer Joey Kramer is suing his band Aerosmith

"Here's this band that's been around for a long time and now it's time for them to play that weekend Grammy awards and Joey Kramer is not going to be able to play Joey Kramer as a drummer and now in fact he is suing his Aerosmith bandmates claiming he is being frozen out of the group drummer says he's being excluded from playing with Aerosmith at Sunday's Grammy awards and did the recording academy's Aerosmith tribute show which will take place on Friday night and then see Aerosmith received twenty twenty music cares person of the year award so here's what happened barely courting to the story Kramer was sidelined from the band's deuces are wild Las Vegas residency last year after suffering minor injuries with a drum tech John Douglas stepping in behind the kit but wait it's just bizarre to me to me good for Aerosmith they founded their niche they found their home in Las Vegas that's just odd to me too that you know that that a rock band with that kind of a legacy is just playing Las Vegas all the time trip touring and playing shows cool shows everywhere but that's beside the point now we get some Kramer was injured minor injuries however Joey Kramer now claims it when he was fully fit and ready to rejoin Aerosmith towards the end of last year then he was essentially asked to re audition and demonstrate that he can play at an appropriate level now you think in I only something given first blush like Hey wait a minute now your you're gonna ask your drummer if he can play at an appropriate loudly and minor injuries so they are they make him re audition so in a statement Kramer stresses the legal move is not about money he's gonna sue is bad it's not about money says his goal according to him is simply to get back behind the

"The Mike at any point is very impressive but I yeah it's was it two years ago now. That Post Malone came out with aerosmith. You know it's very very funny to me that you know aerosmith were pretty old and ninety nine. They were passed the whole the get a grip album and everything. It's very funny that they're still the official M._t._v. v._M.. As short hand for rock band you know in twenty seventeen as they were nineteen ninety nine as they were in the eighties when they were actually a big deal. Yes seemingly no connection to kid rock other than kid rock being a melding of right rapin rock. Yeah I know that they were trying to sort of call back to the original aerosmith run DMC collaboration which was like this supposed to symbolize the the the breaking of walls yeah they literally break on boundary blurring of music and I think that they were trying to be like a these guys like kid rock so you can like kid rock to yeah you WanNa talk about Joe see a little bit yeah r.i.p my my small friend he he was <hes> he was kid. Rock's sidekick. He was very short because he's he actually had a Celia disease and he suffered from rare complications from l._A._X.. Impacted his growth and it caused a number of other health problems which is why he passed away the next year in in two thousand when he was only twenty six years old is horrible. <hes> I googled him after the performance because I was like completely forgot about the existence of this Guy <hes> and kid rock met him a few years earlier and he was a big kid rock fan he came to all of his shows. When he was just started off and then he played some music for Kid Rock and he can rock? I guest kind of to his credit..

I know that you know, we're we're knee deep in baseball and playoffs with basketball and the final four and championship game. And I just I heard the podcast. And I said, you don't want somebody with that much passion, and that topic of run DMC and Aerosmith, and I just remember that song. And when you hear it you hear rap in it you hear the beat. And then the fact that Aerosmith needed run DMC and run DMC sort of needed Aerosmith, and you know, Aerosmith still thriving here. But you just hear that. But I love Joe Perry's guitar. When he comes in. I. I understand them arguing about who created that beat though is pretty iconic. Yes. You know? It'd be like, no, no, no. That was my I did that. But do you have the Aerosmith version because that that's when run DMC did the scratching on the like, you could hear the that the Genesis of that song office? I didn't know what it meant. But and I'm sure run GMC's gone. I have no idea what I think they called it hill hillbilly music, run DMC Yampa. And like you said it was the shock of the visual of those two bands together polar opposites, at least in the public back then on MTV, which didn't really there weren't any revenues to show there weren't that many. Yeah. But here's run DMC. They were more successful at the time. But to break through they needed the vehicle of Aerosmith to be able to do that. And you watch that video and it's like they don't even there in the same room performing the same song..

"aerosmith" Discussed on Sound Opinions

"Listening to the sound opinions and later in the show we're going to review an album called scenery from Emily king. Now, she's a singer songwriter. Jim I would put her in that category. Yep. But she expanded into funk soul. Aren be. She's got a unique take on that. We're going to talk about that record later. Down. So. Will be the see that's later in the show. You are. Right. But I walk this way. That is run DMC's nineteen eighty six version of the Harrismith song from their nineteen seventy five record toys in the attic, the refresh track. The reimagined rebooted song ended up being a complete surprise hit for both bands. You know by the mid nineteen eighties. Aerosmith was far from their nineteen seventies heyday run DMC consisting of rappers Joseph run Simmons and Darryl DMC mcdaniels as well. As the great jam master. Jay Jason Mozelle on the wheels of steel they were young they were up and coming rap group. They'd had to solid selling albums under their belt. But like nearly every hip hop back in the early eighties. They had not crossed over into the mainstream that all changed when run DMC teamed up with Aerosmith Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to record a new version of their classic rock standard. And that nineteen Eighty-six version of walk this way became an. International top ten hit one of the first rap songs with that distinction. Washington Post reporter, Jeff edges writes, all about it in his new book walk this way, run DMC Aerosmith and the song that changed American music forever. That is quite a claim. We recently spoke with him about the book. And according to Jeff there is a common misconception that walked this way. Basically made run DMC's career. There are few things in this book that I hope will change minds and one I think false perception out there in the universe. Is that Aerosmith these rock heroes Rockstars, you know, helped out these young rappers and gave them a career when in fact, run DMC were in many ways already superstars they were the first rap supergroup and Aerosmith at that point in nineteen eighty six they couldn't have been more washed up. I mean, I remember it because I was fourteen years old and I grew up in Boston. So I remember when Aerosmith Joe Perry Steven Tyler got back together again. And they went on the back in the saddle tour nineteen Eighty-four I went and is one of earliest concerts, as I remember that. But then they came back in one thousand nine hundred five with done with mirrors. Done with mirrors largely seen as failure. So that's the point where you know, there's the suggestion while they're out on tour with Ted Nugent opening for them. Really? But they're you know, they're in Philadelphia playing a concert and off day. They get like, you know, Tyler Perry paid four grand to come to New York and work with these guys in run DMC. We need to have some context here from the standpoint of I mean radio was segregated MTV. Wasn't playing black artists much less. Hip hop. But it was it was clearly speaking to a new generation of listeners in a way that Aerosmith music. No longer was at that time Aerosmith was as big ban from the seventies. But as he said by the mid eighties..

John Goodman Says Roseanne Barr Is Missed on The Conners

"Haze that man that wasn't that long ago and the country was gripped by Roseanne. Yes. And what was going to happen? And now, of course, they've got the re reboot that's premiering next week. So John Goodman's out making the rounds. And he was talking about it, and it was how heartfelt this was Jimmy Kimmel the liquor store filler. I mean, she is definitely but. After many years is like a family and last year was so miraculous. And so unreal that went it went away. It was almost like a dream, right? And I thought boy I just crashed for weeks. Wow. I believe it. I mean, they they've known each other for decades now. Yeah. You know? And they thought they were going to be going on this cool new journey. The ratings were a huge success for the reboot of Roseanne. They were like, wow, we've struck gold twice with the same series concept. Yeah. You know, you think like a band that does that? Yeah. Like to get their resurgence. And it's like man, we don't take it for granted anymore. We're just so grateful and like Aerosmith in the eighties south like that. And you got it back together. But then sometimes there is know tension or one person is a problem, and you know, Roseanne was no stranger to controversy. Yeah. There's no doubt about that. But yeah, I'm sure that he really misses her. Yeah. He had some nice things to say about her to about how she really worked with ABC to make sure that people would keep working on the show, the reread the Connors. Oh, that's cool. She gave up a lot. So that people could work. It's weird. It was very weird during the first show without a because she's my buddy of me, we just sit there, and she made me laugh and make her laugh, which is always fun because there's always a danger being yourself, Brian. When she gave a blunt for us to be able to do the show. That's cool. That's a little bit of a hostile environment to for John Goodman to be saying nice things about Roseanne. And you know, it is it is very different from some of the other co stars who have kind of have had some it seems like at least some bitterness or resentment towards Roseanne because that's what that's what the Twitter verse the Twitter mob demands right now that you have to hate Roseanne, right guy. John Goodman, who's been around the block a few times who saying no, I am not going to trash her. I mean, she did a lot of work to make sure that we could all keep doing what we love to do. Well, and you can't argue she's really helped make a lot of people a lot of money. And then Aerosmith got into drugs and had problems and hadn't bad album. And they were a mass and you're like, ooh, and then Aerosmith came back, cleaned up, got healthy. Somebody else wrote some songs run DMC and you're like, oh, hell. Yeah, Aerosmith is good. Yeah, never forget how good Aerosmith was once they were healthy. That's Andrew luck. Andrew luck is already had two careers. Let's make sure we delineate between the two. His first career was three consecutive eleven five seasons, three consecutive playoff appearances. The AFC championship game Pro Bowl every year at eighty. Six touchdown passes that led the NFL with forty two thousand fourteen. That was his first career. His second career was a lacerated kidney major soul shoulder injury and getting the living. You know what kicked out of him because his general manager left him with no players. He is hoping to do an Aerosmith. Remember me when I was healthy. This is now embarking on his third career. He came into the league and was a monster with the worst offensive line in the league. And arguably the least talented running backs. And he was eleven and five. Eleven five eleven five three playoffs twenty fourteen lead the NFL with forty touchdowns. AFC championship game, Tom Brady could not have taken that offensive line to the AFC championship game. Could not have Joe Montana, couldn't do it. Peyton Manning couldn't do it. Eleven and five. Eleven five, eleven and five. He was Aerosmith in the seventies while oh my God all time stuff. And then Aerosmith got into some bad stuff. Tried to extend plays, ran around too much. He could take some of the blame. That's fair. I mean, Aerosmith deserve some of the blame, right? But Aerosmith bounce back and were as great as they'd ever been when they bounce back. We are looking at the recovery stage for Andrew luck and do not forget how absolutely awesome. He was.
