"You power leaving the door open is not one of your things. It's mcevoy move. I do just a little bit tied to you. Zoom participants am. I wasn't I'd have been the israel so you know and you guys have stucco. We call it pebble. Gosh well so what would i say. I expect a law of. I need a low of tactic. Maybe that maybe. I'm too too much physical contact. Maybe is this goes back to make sense like one of those guys. Just the law sex. You know what i'm saying. I need a. It's i've had that a few times okay. Okay what about everything about this. Production was accelerated. Right like as. I understand it It came together really quickly. Ten days of rehearsal. Ten days of shooting does not accelerate everything about its must kind of spoil. You guys have both been on much larger productions where. There's a lot of downtime. It must be so fantastically rewarding to just like every waking moment. Be thinking about this interest in it. Yeah we were just saying. It has spoiled us oxidative. The for the first meeting. I about after january just made this film on. I think we should make it like that seriously. I think we should rehearse it for for two weeks. And then i think we should film in two weeks. I don't see why we can't do that. And i always say can be the case for everything but there's some hangs the case for. I've done two movies in the last year and a half the remade in two weeks. Basically one of them was a completely improvised film. What i have a clue what was coming next and then the next one was this might make both of them and to come on. Everybody should be with us. He is the same amount of money please. That's the only caveat gas in two weeks. I will do more acting than those two weeks than you could ever entity four months where your conventional filmon over the years. Are you good with the downtime. I mean obviously humidity james. You've done the x-men films Enormous there's just inherently it takes a lot. There's a lotta downtime. Have you always been good at keeping the focus and filling the time it looks. I mean look. I remember coming off a best and go into montreal to shoot x. Men in the past and i was on stage working issues week loving it. Absolutely love literally sweating blood. Every second i was at work and then you go there and that was a i do some good acting not movie but it was so thank. I just remember like liquor. Who is anybody stressed. This is an absolute dawdle is non end the lovin it just love and life and being very aware that kind of work you know it was dependent hussein home looking after kids was was working hours going to have i and in montreal onset and by the same time you know as much as that was an antidote to the hard work you were doing on stage after a while you do get distracted your like. Oh my god hours between and and also what you get you might spend sixty hours trying to capture eight lines worth dialogue really. Is that any of those lines that maybe they were. None of those lanes really gets to the heart of Really sometimes you're not really doing much when even get your bet in so doing something like this. Which was about. I mean really as much as few people keep saying the word who actually felt more natural and realistic. And even though you're talking to the audience on we just talking to your mate. Aren't you just talk audience when you talk jimmy Aren't you just don't to the audience when you talk to your moment the phone. And that's what this feels like. This kind of token zillions shows like for me. I yeah i mean. I i have my audience. Oh the for suggested questions. One of the questions. That came up from from jen and kate and want to know how was it acting directly to camera and i might my fault would be like. Who are you imagining on the other end of the that camera or used to be someone specifically what well initially when we were rehearsing and there was no camera just stephen daltry cranston and ran into place like you know and so we were talking to him and we did discuss it a lot. You know what i'm asking. Dentists says like who because initially it was Gonna be A play and then the then you know the cia dying. I mean So so would you would have been talking to an audience so we have in the end. It was just like stephen wasn't invited was a guest in in our home. You know he was someone who didn't necessarily want to hear about our relationship but we were gonna tell him we each wanted to you know. Get him onside. Kindly let you do in marriage therapy or kinda like want the cancel their two young. You're right. I mean you can hear me from. I mean. Obviously you know i. If i'm really honest. I can't remember exactly what we landed on. All i know. is that For me it was a really new thing to do. And that the big thing i had to get over was not looking away. You know like. I had to sit a hold. I contact which. I find kind of hard. Because i'm really shifty and So see just kept saying you know like even when i do more. I felt like i was really really connecting with him. It'd be the first thing you'd say to me when when you know when we When we cut like keep looking away a learn it this might sound like a absurd talk to professional actors about. But i'm always like i just don't have a great number for memorizing stuff and in my job i sometimes have to do. Small amounts of dialogue and i can barely handle that but the sheer amount. That you guys are handling. Certainly you've done theater obviously have to know how to do this but like does this come naturally again. This is a ten day. Shoot that about a week and a half rehearsal do absorb that stuff quickly like are you both like just so in the zone that there's not even a question of like forgetting line or if you do you just roll with it. Or what do we definitely forgot. Lines the point where 'cause we begin thirteen minutes fourteen minute takes and there was a point where we can't mess out. We kept messing our kept messed up. We kept stopping if we messed up which they can give permission to stop when we messed up so the next time we did it with invariably make a mistake and off. You're never going to get through this. Remember weeks or call each other. Muir light right wherever heim Doesn't matter whether you shut your pints in the middle of a take you push through a main. Maybe maybe i shot myself. Because i up you just and then honestly the minute we had that conversation with each other. There were less mistakes and we did. Just get it done and yeah of course still mistakes in the things that you weren't entirely happy with it so we're going to be a choice when it's something that is one. Take quick none but but it was really interesting. Do look i love talking to the audience. And i love having lost. Do she said f it well written and thing. I haven't worked that hard since it was at school and a husband light. Learn shit off by heart. You know i that. My favorite review at reviews was the talked about how many lines to learn. And when my dad called me to say well done he jesus. I don't know how you remember all that dialogue sharon Yes someone knows. It was like ninety hard like as hard as the acting bit. I mean shit. Let's learn in very little high. So is there. I totally have matters for it. Is there a line over the years that has haunted you. I mean again not to keep going back to like excellent stuff but techno-babble stuff that particularly in the stuff. You've done over the years james i think of for you shine. You've done so much work. Are there lines that just like to this day are stuck in your head in your mares well i series cold the increasingly poor decisions of todd margaret. Using Meditation to Overcome Toxic Thoughts Featuring Amelia Adrien

"Amelia's thank you so much for being here to talk with us today. So welcome I'm really happy to be here. So this is a topic that I think can be intimidating for some people. So how can I approach meditation as a beginner? Yeah. I agree I think it can. It can feel like it's something that is other people who that other people don't well, and maybe we can fill that. We don't do it so well but really the the the best thing to now is you can't really get it right? You can't really get it wrong. If you would just to take one long in hand. Exhale with me right now focusing attention on that `grats. comes. Into your nostrils. and. Out. Again. In that moment in that one breath, you'll meditating you reset your body. Your brain your nervous system. Some meditation. Media simply focusing your mind on one thing, and you can meditate when anything can be positive or negative. I was looking at the definition of meditation on it's shown to be the act of giving your attention to one thing. And we associate with being common relaxed actually you can meditate on absolutely anything it could be that you meditate on your brass. It could be that you have more of an active meditation and you meditate on nature as you're going for a walk, it could be quite meditate on the beauty of a flower. So it's a thought or a study on one object. And really one of the simplest things you can do as a beginner. The simplest types of meditation that you can do is accommodating meditation and this is really what you just watch the grass just like we did right at the beginning. So you become aware of the sensation of the breath is it comes into in through the nostrils. And then down into the belly on the inhale. And then on the ex how the breath travels up and out through the nostrils. and. You just watch the breath. The sensation of the breath is it comes into the body and then as it comes out to the body and you can do this for three breaths, you could do it for three minutes. You could do it for ten minutes. You can do it for sixty minutes. It's really just you know it's really a how long is a piece of string but what I suggest people who just starting out Is that you create a little habit of meditation practice. So you make maybe a little promised yourself. You're going to do it for seven days say and see how that goes. That goes. Okay. Then maybe up to eleven days then maybe up to twenty one days and you just see how you go rather than say I can now be a meditative for the rest of my life you set yourself something that's achievable. Something that feels that you can do right. At, the way to really make it part of like a routine I find is to do at the same time every day. So then when that time of day comes around you like offices, my meditation time, and so then you kind of it almost becomes automatic. So for me, the best time for me to do it is in the morning. So it's literally get up go to the unsettled meditation cushion and stop. Don't turn on your phone tummy not definitely don't go downstairs on leading the dishwasher. You know the the world will start to come at you with many many different things to do will tell you a more important than than taking time with yourself than just taking time with your own with your own being. Prioritized baton for me the way that that works if I just fussing the morning. Now I know if if you've got little kids that can be really hard to the kids will get out probably before you now be asking and demanding for your attention. So if that's the case, then you just located in a different part of your day but choosing a time so that when that time comes around, you're like, okay, that's your trigger. So then it becomes more habitual. and. I love how simple and how really customizable you make that I think that's beautiful because I think in my mind meditation has be this very strict long. Thing that I'm. Doing. But I think it really is what fits your life and I think that's a beautiful sentiment. Yes a show. So, what are the benefits that I can gain from meditation sesame we it gives me a great understanding of who I am. It helps me understand who I am away from the different roles that I play in my life mother daughter wife friend business not helps me move away from all of these other roles and it helps me connect to that true quieter nature actually within within me. There's a quote that I really love from. Colin Young, which says the welcome ask you who you are and if you don't know the wealth will tell you. So in this way, what I love about meditation is that it's not something spaced out. It's not something dreamy. It's something very centralizing and very clarifying in in in identifying locating. Understanding more about who you really are. You're able to own your position in the world. You're able to take in an empowered way your position in the world and feels really that feels really positive and not doesn't come with your fast meditation oil second or your said even your fifty, it's something that's may be cumulative. So you might experience that end the first few times on. That's wonderful but it's something that you become familiar with like Oh. Yeah. I remember this is the calm of of me. This is who I really can be. This numerous scientific studies on the benefits of meditation and these all have great value. But I've kind of had a look there seem to be five main benefits that we can get from meditation. The first one is it calms UNAC- stabilizes us so. One of the main benefits that it can bring us is this sense of stability and calm. It can help center US stablest into this present moment rather than projecting into the future or ruminating over the past set keeps US keeps US present moment away, which then helps to common stabilize us. That's kind of a one of the fundamental benefits really of meditation. So. The second thing is it improves focus. The practice is helping us focus our attention on one thing. So we can then translate that three to many different aspects of our lives. That that thing that it seems to do is increase resilience to stress. So it's shown that meditation lessons, the inflammatory responses to those who are exposed to psychological stress. What it actually has been shown to doing studies is the dump activity in the Magdala and increases connections between the Magdala on the prefrontal CORTEX CORTEX. So both of those parts of the brain help us to be less reactive to stresses and significantly I think they help us to recover back from stress experience. It stresses pot of life. It's not something that we can eradicate or eliminate. But we can do is train on south through meditation to recover quicker from it. This becomes baseline. This becomes more who we are. Throughout the day. In in particular moments after meditation.

Louisville preparing for another night of protests after Breonna Taylor decision

"Of Louisville is bracing for another night of protests after Kentucky's attorney general said he would not charge three officers in the death of Briana Taylor. She is the black woman shot and killed by police in her apartment in March. The decision not to charge the officers involved drove demonstrators into the streets around the country. But it's Louisville. That is the center of this story. And that is where NPR's Adrian Florido is now. Hey there, Adrian. I'm a really describe to us what you are seeing. What you're hearing is you're out and about reporting on the streets there in Louisville. So, so far today, things have been calm. That was not the case. Last night, however, the streets of downtown Louisville were really tense as police worked to enforce and nine PM curfew and disperse crowds or furious Attorney General Daniel Cameron's announcement just before curfew, two officers were shot. Their injuries were non my threatening and the suspect was arrested. But this morning, Mayor Greg Fischer pleaded for peace. We never had control over what attorney General of the grand jury would do. We do have control over what happens next in our city, So I'm asking everyone to reject violence and join me and committing Ourselves to the work of reform for justice and for equity and do that now. And Adrian. How our people out on the streets protesting. How are they hearing that? How are they responding to that? I think that there is a lot of skepticism that meaningful change that the mayor is calling for if they participate will actually happen, You know, people here in Louisville protested for 120 days. Demanding that the three police officers who participated in the raid on Briana Taylor's apartment be charged with her murder. Instead. What they got was a grand jury and the state attorney general deciding to charge just one of those officers not for Taylor's death, but because the bullets that this officer fired into her apartment, entered the apartment next door and endangered the lives of Taylor's neighbors. This morning, I spoke to a man named Marcus Reed. He runs a barbecue joint near where Taylor was killed wasn't what he said. If it was may 20 years, But you know, this is police and he's not my skin color. They Just a slap on the wrist. They keep doing it. He told me that his friends and family are deeply resentful of the decision not to charge and that he would not be surprised if tensions on the streets actually actually grow worse after this, Yeah, well, I was going to ask where where my things go because people out protesting many of them had some pretty specific goals in mind. They weren't just angry. They wanted all of the involved officers to be fired and charged with murder. Which, as of yesterday seems to be off the table. So so where do things go now? Rights of the local investigation into Taylor's killing is complete. There will be no more charges Theater New general has said that but the police Department is continuing an internal investigation on whether the officers followed department protocols on the night of the raid. There's also an ongoing federal investigation. The FBI is looking into whether police violated Briana Taylor's civil rights and they're looking at How they obtained that warrant raid Taylor's apartment to look for drugs drugs that they did not find, And aside from that Kentucky's governor Andy this year, he is calling on the attorney general to release the evidence from his investigation against the officers. Here's what the governor said just a little while ago. I know the attorney general talks about the truth, and I talk about the truth. I think we ought to let the people of Kentucky see all of that evaluate and come to the truth. I believe that it is fully appropriate to do at this point in time, Put it all on line. The attorney general has said that he won't do that for now, because of the charges brought yesterday against the one former officer Onda also that pending FBI investigation so briefly, Adrian, you're watching for more protests there in Louisville tonight. There will be more protests. You know, The police say that they're going to continue to enforce the curfew, which is still in effect. Police say that they will do the same thing they did yesterday. They have today arrested more than 100 protesters yesterday. I should also say Marie Louise that we're expecting to hear from Briana Taylor's family tomorrow. NPR's Adrian Florido reporting from Louisville tonight. Thanks, Adrien.

I mean he hasn't fought like the year. I'm sure they could dig him up. Give them some money bring them in public to get a win from him. But I really I went through the list with you. Okay. Why? Yep. Yep. Yep. That was that was like that was like April or March of last year. So, yeah, I mean bring him back up. You know. You can say that he fought perfecting probably baby fall out, or so your a good name better than ever. Remember when he fought the vet can? Yes. Exactly. Exactly. "Shanghai beijing shanghai nights and all those other movies but here he's kind of like more of a serious lead and i know there have been some movies the jackie chan is like a serious lead in like from hollywood but im more associate him was kinda like a bad askedcomedic relief lead rumble in the bronx yeah i mean ii he does have loads of serious movies are here but the thing that i think i'm realising his i'd plagued he's actually might be the only four chinese movies that obscene as well so i thought about things bubis experts i i do live here but it's very easy to get you as dvds and they also play us movies which i the end up saying oh and another thing is they also junkie second adrien brody spoke english in this movie so as to detect the fact the one we washed had dubbed over english voices on jackie chan all the other actors and abbleby who were speaking i guess mandarin her would whenever they were speaking at i know how to recognize that we i know that they were speaking then link like let shia yet so i mean i i did find that interesting not not you know i don't know i don't know how hard it would be like lauren another language for like dragon blade or whatever but if donny hasn't seen a whole lot of chinese movies i just wonder that this was common to get your hollywood actors and then they basically still speak english and then they just subtitle it or you a lot of folks know english in shanghai no though usually just throw to subtitles on.

"Sms and in the adrien brody character walked into like the the general personal space of this guy backed up off of a cliff and the effective just this guy opening a kid falling off a cliff like falling down into perpetuity into like the villages below was that was one of those moments were you know some of these things you do kinda notice the difference between special effects of these movies and special effects in hollywood movies in this was one where aid it wasn't as good of equality and it just was kinda bizarre dude our two thousand dream counts the entire time until he fainted than when we want them decrypted world because the weighty they frame in a different color of like how the films being shown that you flashbacks like the tone set the tone it'll be like a different tone to the screen to signified the flashback that's what they do for the guy falling off the cliff with the kid near like oh that's like a dream or something no he dies like that's it oh yeah the credits roldan i was like their kids dead or they could no those in the mail the movie wasn't it yeah we'll he say he did note jack did not show mojo i am not going to bring back okay person can jackson they're like all the kids you to come back and saved the day yeah executives halfway through the movie saw stomach all right there's no he died halfway through the movie like he's going to come back it's just a weird nightmare sequenced there's something in a critical role in my kids fucking ted that the only good thing about the movie though is that they killed off the kid.
