"This is native america. Calling i'm melissa london. We're talking about an art exhibit called exposure at the i a museum of contemporary native arts and santa fe if features art from indigenous artists who are inspired by nuclear contamination in their native lands. You can join us to can art change how the public issues that affect native people give us a call at one eight hundred nine nine six two eight four eight. That's also one eight hundred nine nine native and before we took a break and we were speaking with manuela. Well off man. Chief curator of the i a museum of contemporary native arts and tania willard the co curator of the exposure art exhibit. And they were talking about what they hope. Are the takeaways from people that see this show. How manuela what you bring us back to that Bring us back to that. Thought about y you created this show and why you think it's important that people know more about the contamination that is still occurring on indigenous and aboriginal lands. Yeah so the idea came about The food Infestation with one of my co curator. Dr who buys them so When he came to visit smoke. Nam he Posted exhibition and good timing. Because at that time i was really hoping to do more international work here at mock now and He was absolutely right when he said You know there are certain similarities between Native communities he in the south vest and what is going on in the pacific island specifically marshall island so Those the community there and he ends up south Deal with different Forms of nuclear exposure. As you know they were terrible. Atomic bomb tests in the pacific islands. The nationally There i believe the most to make room for these atomic bomb test here in the south southwest in new mexico. You have the los alamos national laboratories The first atomic bombs were developed in nineteen forty five and tested It's twenty in new mexico the have Over five hundred Abandoned mine and uranium bill another whole nation and the pablo communities Nationally over thousand abandoned uranium mined on our nation and people live grow up really close to those Abandoned mine and disposer the nuclear Disposal sites so again canoe. Indigenous communities are exposed to radiation and that has long term health. So this this is how this idea came about. And then We reached out to international. Indigenous cooked raiders because As i mentioned it's a global problem really that needs to be addressed and i really invite Our listeners to come to mokoena to see how hot is from different areas of the board addresses issue. i was really amazed How creative and innovative. These aren't just Venue prestia about this Topic might think Yeah there's a lot of police political conscience political works but it's very subtle and most of these artists. We wanna for combine More customary art forms or materials With this contemporary Subject and It's it's really They educational to learn. how how. This problem affects Communities and in most cases artist are directly affected so this works out so deeply personal. I would say right and so this exhibit light on an issue that is happening right now and to our audience. If you can call in and tell us how how this is affecting you and your community are there areas in your native community. They're affected by radioactive accidents or other manmade disasters. And you can even tell us how your land has changed a result of that or how is even impacting your health. You can call in at one. Eight hundred nine nine six two eight four eight. That's one eight hundred nine nine native tanya given that this issue is happening right now. Can you talk more about the global reach of these works. The ecological impact although it's local. It has a global reach. Speak to that. Absolutely i think One of the things we discovered in bringing together were those many parallels For example some of the uranium used in the bomb Inhere she might were mind. In canada and so canada's nuclear history is lesser known. I've certainly learned a lot through this project and through the artist's works but those impacts You know. Uranium mining still proposed new resource extraction in different indigenous Localities today and there's ongoing effects so in on artists bonnie devine's installation in the exhibition. Phenomenology she Has this work that you know thinks about I work that sort of embodies this silent Effects that are leaking from the nineteen fifty three uranium Mind that was found in mind. In the serpent river first nation reserve and that mining led to tailings that poison the entire serpent river watershed That affects that communities are dealing with still today and so there's other works that think through those impacts in adrian stimpson's painting work fused three just a series he didn't twenty twenty ten There's an image of a buffalo as well as the small nuclear explosion. In the background and adrian simpson has In his work research the uranium mining in scotland and that area And he in many ways makes parallel between the impacts of the decimation of the buffalo the oncoming of settler colonialism and the kind of devastating impact involved in a nuclear explosion and. I think that that's an important way to view. All these works also within a history of settler colonialism and that those deep effects in many ways mimics the kind of catastrophic effect of a nuclear explosion and or mining and or refinements endorse storage. Thank you for mentioning adrian. Stimpson's work we actually have him on the line today. He's joining from scott tune in saskatchewan canada. And he's an artist from the six nation..

We've done about one hundred and fifty of these among the best chance. We've ever peaked too soon. No concern house brilliant. What would you favorite talking masters students. And yeah i find it hard to answer. I think the why of always liked that math. Since i was very small is pattern. Really unlock chick. So for instance. When i was in like nursery school i i remember my favorite things to play with tons. Do you remember up tons will likely flat octagonal plastic things with slots in the side. So you can slot together at right angles. Could then you could make them into sort of three. D geometric shapes and slogans gathering. Different ways i love those. I like tesla and things like that. I did a lot of logic puzzle things when i was a kid growing up. Those i really enjoyed a teacher gave me some cross. Figure puzzles book of them. Once i went every every clear as say says one across will be seven times. Three across on three will be fifteen times to down something like that. So then you have to work out the logic of powell those together and it was that kind of thing and the way he must fit together the pale to me but when tina adversity. I think i was definitely people. Mass person and so i found applied s untidy and the equations along. And they're often only mesa anyway. And i liked nice. Tidy maths but i particularly liked subjects. Where i really felt. I could almost say or feel what was going on so i like things where they were. Good geometric representations as well so i particularly liked analysis and topology because they have the the combination of the two i could imagine a graph an image or something that represented what was happening. But i quit also the way you expressed it. Algebraic verbally and algebraic klay was like neat and tidy and you could follow the reasoning. Say that combination appeal to me particularly got him. Fantastic and final question. What job would you like to do. If you weren't involved in education research and so well this question maybe think about coming back to the colors so recently as i think you know we are sensor expanded dramatically. Thanks to make one by my colleagues. Mafia ingles and camilla gilmore and consequently we had many more staff and we to have some new space. And i find myself in a meeting with a woman whose job it is to do colors for the university and that made me think i missed a trick earth. You end up with that. But we'll seriously. I like most writing. And i really liked travel. I like to write home about travel. And i think i would like to scam. I sell through a time career as a travel writer or possibly just a coffee edits a love improving writing my own. I really like the editing process. So i think probably one of those would be the thing that i would realistically do as a second career is good. I'm intrigued by this. This color person was just for looks bro or a job like going around different university. It was no. It was her job. So of course if you think about it in the modern world so somebody has to design happening all buildings and you don't want to look to look horrible mishmash random things you want it to have a cappella looks fairly consistent. I am not all say. These days runs across websites all sorts of other publicity materials so i think she was paul of the team that does the design aspects across the whole university so he does make sense when you think about her but it just surprises me at the time that this was sort of her main role. God is is fantastic. Okay well we will now allow refuse okay to your korean surf. You take us through where it all started for two way you all today. Well i mean where it all started. When i was that very little kid you know he really liked colors and patterns and things i think can i i. Did you know maths books for fun. When i was growing up extra things you combined w h smith. I like doing those kinds of things. I enjoyed it right the way through school. They will moments where i felt. Something didn't quite make sense. Not for me for a while and then a to help me sort out and so on. When i was in secondary school. I happened to get an extremely teacher. Michael jewish sutcliffe rather eccentric but also very a teacher teaching in a soda responsive. And the time. I went through school. It may have been the same fears. We have these. Smp books booklets so much seat not self sequence but it was pretty much paced so you would work through a little booklet you would learn from. The booklet works for ask a teacher. If you got stuck. I think you can check your own. Says i can't remember. But anyway a lot of a lot of that. So i was able to do that and he also then gave me like random extra things to do and he was very much a teacher of the sort of work it out yourself and also help you think through kind of throaty and he very kindly when i want to see the master eight. I've all but my school had quite small. Sixth woman didn't offer at. I'm said he would just do it. That we were just doing on the side. So i randomly went into different. I went to see him. Jury is like to to'real grape in the morning and after math one day i showed up and it happens to be the beginning of his six classrooms in the lower six and he said he said oh. Do stay all cocky right understand anything but sit down anyway. I ended up during the first year. Round the second secondary level at the same time. And then right so. I already had an when i start interviewing for universities and that made easier so i went to warwick as an undergraduate. I'm sure i would have done. An math had been an option but they didn't exist at that time so i did an undergraduate maths degree traveling then. I went back to where it intending to do a phd maths. So i did a master's year. I and the jury not year teaching myself so i work at the time i think still now had. Phd students acting supervises to small groups of undergraduates. Like four of us assay. You meet once a week and you could ask questions about everything and i did a lot about and became very interested in teaching. And how people that's it. I'm done warn undergraduate maths module on mathematics education. As well. And i start asking you know. Is it possible to do studies in this area. I went to the mass sorry educated as it was over there and happened to be just in the right place at right time. So chuckled adrian simpson. Who subsequently became my phd..

"Myself woodward how i can ask away that it was a little lack of blatantly taking it from you so i'll be i'll be thinking about lots only a great question not really at all except a royalty for hiv on amazon. That'd be on. The second thing is making soms. Teaching is about mechanisms and understanding mechanisms. Not methods is what impounds teaches. Have that adaptive expertise Talking about before site as Mentioned before i didn't slices perforce i probably don't have to go into that much now but so much of discussion around teaching is talking about teaching methods but really if we can understand how something works it impounds us to adapted effectively in a new environment for example that godfrey thing before it if we were to talk that gulf Decide all will what you can do. One really effective method is that he can Give students a triangle given one angle inside instead of signing angle. Siphon as much as you can that's just about methods In some instances but if we actually go to the level of mechanisms and understand the students restrictions rapid feedback and reliable results than teachers can take that in any subject any environment because they know the prerequisites and how that thing works so that idea that making this important has also changed the nature of the questions that i ask guests and the why that i interrogation reading racers pipes welland something encourage teachers to keep the back name on whenever that are at a payday or listen to a podcast writing book. What is the main reason behind this. How does it actually work at a fundamental level. I like it i like. I like it again. Just all on my real basic level. That's why i'm always fascinated to tease out. The kind of practicalities people will say things when i interview the speak to teach his generally like a check for the stumbling or i'll make sure i break down. I i break down complex into into chilling. So but i wanna know how i literally. What does that look like. what are you doing. what are the students doing. How gino it works because that's the thing like a lot of the things we talk about. Everybody knows what everybody got a lot of. People know it's a good idea to to provide retrievable. Petits a good idea to minimize extremely slow. But but what does that. Actually look like when you've got a year nine class on a friday afternoon or you'll teach in a line on you struggling with zoo or whatever it is. What does that actually look of. The practicalities of not familiar is is the most impulsive bit sets to get a real at all the stuff. The great thing about that is what are the active ingredients that have to be prison whereas he had taken out. It wouldn't work and another way. Think about what are the boundary conditions. For how far can we push it. and mole fit whilst still keeping effective. Say so this so another three this relates a lot back to number one is the purpose. But this is important of importance. Interrogating the matrix on that are being used to justify education rage so mitch metrics economy the upright All these would operationalize of keeping the try trial yet. Officers absolutely cooked operation wants asian atrocities. The bigwood absolute cooked it up. Look that's altered era. Let's voting in the podcast Mitch of the authorization. i mean. it's probably a stupid would use anyway. So as using host metrics that we can help the purposes of education be manifest in the world and we can get a good sense of whether we are achieving. Our pips there's another west. I'm safely stopped with purpose. Students learn about stuff layers on purpose. We want students to learn more. That's too vague. We actually decide more of what. How are we gonna miss that. How we're going to be aware that. And this out. Through civil guests for example adrian simpson. He talked about ryan's restriction surrender restriction is how we measure things and how effect sizes can be influenced by changing the number of people students in the sample and more importantly by changing the diversity of students in sample so if we restrict the ranch and the way that we mentioned that that can actually change what looks effective enough on another why the metrics really important the of with a metric or rak test or something like that proximal diesel so something is proximal for example designed by the experiment experimentally experiment at knows exactly what they teach. They design a test. That really tight. It's that and lo and behold really high fix laws whereas if we will take a more distant metric Test which actually isn't designed to measure exactly what the teacher's teaching. It's less likely to show a high to fix us. But then also this other in this kind Came out through my episode with your jail. This things that we don't mitch that also get affected whenever we do anything so these could beat a belief. The students habits of the students on or anything like that and these can often be the unintended side effects that occur in in education. So you know. I would have guessed that if we use examples to take every procedure for a group of students from k twelve. We don't give them any opportunities to do To actually struggle you talked about productive failure your episode without how if we don't actually give them up jeans to have to struggle with problems you know. Maybe they went actually developed the ability to do that in in a productive rice. Soy there are these side effects. Even we might be pushing for one thing. There are unintended side expats. Metrics probably could have been more concisely point three but that's okay number. Stop just not just just really quickly listen. This is a tiny tugging. feel.

"You have this. Kind of restrict sent at restricting. Things can do. But they're also getting that rapid feedback. The epa coasts the rough. You if you type in why axes can enjoy wikileaks. And so on so yeah. I think that's really interesting that this the this online environment might be the time to to try out the goal frey alive and in your right dismal. This i've applied with much. Desma sees absolutely fantastic. Fantastic c-pap rights and just before we kind of move onto the final thing. I want to talk about your podcast. Is there anything else you wanted to say about your book or anything that recommend the readers checkout particular Or anything anything else you wanna out about you. You will default book. I know i don. I did him on the bed. Anything after reading. Yeah i did. It was the elephants activity was was a big pov. I'll be all i come to be wrestling without. And it's one of those things embarrassed to say. Because i just couldn't i couldn't get my head around it. I could not get at the combination of your book and then having this conversation now as as as really really out also again this. I think you explain the free effects which clear i've seen explained before but now again you've just give me a little break through that the yet props. It is both suited to particularly with that that rapid feedback. That's very difficult to to get an accustomed if you've got thirty students and the role work it also without a specific goal unless you're kinda rooted around and like look in everybody's work all the time. You're absolutely naked. It's very difficult to tell extremes that going off in the wrong direction making mistakes and so on and so forth whereas yeah. I'd never made that connection that actually i've got a piece of software. The is always going to stop the going rogue but still give them that kind of freedom and creativity to tighten our roots that that's going to be really wealthy to to go free effect. So yeah i. I realized that look. I'm a big fan of the book out. I'm just jealous. The again the equal rights. So concisely that you can take such a large body of work not weekly down into the kind of key things but also make it really practical as well. So yeah. I'm i'm i'm a big fan of. It's only thanks craig. as unite. You'll work is inspired in definitely educated. Me a lot of these. So i'm it's an honor to be to overton the fiber in some way for account kind mates right. Let's move on to your your podcast now. I would just be nice to each of the now. So let me let me lower the toad a little bit here. It's really interesting right. Like whatever i. I thought the podcast anytime. New podcast came along education. I was really annoyed because i kind of doing this. I don't need anybody else. I don't need that vail's doing this. I use pop For awhile. I don't wanna listen to this. I know but then you also really interesting. Gas on a remember on whether adrian simpson or someone else there was one episode. That thallium the really really to me in wild. This is the money references. Exactly the on atoll wall. This is this. Is this a good pocket. So now i tolerate your existence. Now ali like i sound p. About that you bob around with this this podcast where you manage to go really in depth with Fantastic fantastic gas. But i'll tolerate. I'm over the phone that you'll podcast at least and he's a wonderful podcast. That for those people I think small decision to kind of do it once a month. It means that you can put a lot into into those episodes on. I know you do a hell of a lot of research. You questions absolutely fantastic. So phil rim for people who haven't come across your trip law podcast. What again just like cognitive load theory are ashy to. Sylvia opened a census. How how would you sell. The dream of your podcast. People who haven't listened to it. What what are you trying to do so having to do that. But but first before that. I have to send accountability back to. I'm always very went down. Bell. you'll podcasts. Because i actually created aj blah. Because i found that there wasn't an there. Were a lot of education for you guys out there already. But i didn't find. There was one that went into the level of depth that i wanted. I found that they would often be little half now. Podcast that talked about some strategies. They really didn't have that substance. That i was really hopeful. And so that's actually why i created. The podcast was because i wanted to have access to these races as old as as tensions around the world when you had really by these. But who i felt. Were being hampered by the limit of a thirty minute tom. Slow something like Granted and then. I came across yours near three hour with the dylan williams and things like that and i thought this guy's Within again of course. I listened to in my actually came to lefty wicks I guess that's one way of striking back. But it was talking a little bit about each lhasa again. Lucky long phone podcast which we go really date. "Thousands of answers. And so so you don't have to go to this. Live classroom setting and deal with all the potential confounding variables and so on but even vow which to me seems like relatively simple right. We'll just take some data from from the website. We can measure confidence. We can measure accuracy. Celestial compare two to simon. And i'm calling presented this to two colleagues at la brea from the the math research center recently. I won't say we got told apart from questions will be asked about our method and our procedures housing in general. I haven't even thought about that and this is a relatively straightforward peace research. Now you compare that to something where you are essentially getting live students there and then in the moment on perhaps your your either them or you're removing them from the classroom setting and you find something out and then you're trying to say that this has wider implications. Well then you've got a whole load of questions because you've got these variables that's incredibly hard to control for and the the incentives for everybody involved of the day of the week the time of the an all these kinds of things the environment and so on so i always chime with with matthew about this. I asked him the question. Essentially should we. Dismissing is there any israeli validity to this educational research. When so much of it seems to be conducted in situations that are so far removed from what teaches would experience on a day-to-day basis. And i think what. I've come to realize that. I certainly need to be a bit more skeptical and a bit more questioning of educational research far more so than i will say you know four or five years ago but at the same time i think it's fair to say certainly for me anyway that there are certain best bats there certain practices that we are pretty shore. Because they've been kind of confirmed and validated replicated over the years that are pretty good. Bats if we want to increase students learning. Let's say to to put a label on it so things like and providing opportunities for students to retrieve something that they've learned in the past that regular point in the future seems to be a pretty good bat seems to be a pretty solid thing to do with students and being careful not to overload students with redundant information or not to talk whilst they're trying to read things seems to be pretty good bad so i think that's where i'm at the moment. There are certain things that that i came across when i was writing. How shy taught maths. That there seem seems to be back talk north that i'm willing to to say yet are unhappy with those but some of the other things where i'd find like the paper about it. I'm not so sure awe and it's it's really interesting because as i mentioned matthew i think without knowing it obviously biases creep in was when i was writing. We're at right in how i told him. I started reading research papers. And they with the. I was stunned to pull together this narrative right okay. So it's a really good idea to do this low stakes quizzes and it's really good idea to make sure. Students are fluent in in certain facts before they problems building this narrative. And then i'd read a paper that said the exact opposite by flipping wind the european. Why call it. Why called things be simple and a real time tation to ignore ignore about paper or look for flaws in that paper that doesn't quite fit the narrative that the senate it wants to spend so i've got to be very much aware now of a bit more of a critical ally i think and it's again it goes against human nature but it's it's something that's going to be really important. An effect sizes are is a really interesting thing. That's is one of silly of couple of years ago. That was probably the most mainstream piece of research shows that i encountered in the schools. I was lucky enough to visit because it's easy to latch onto. This has a bigger effect size than this so we should be doing this into what i was saying about best bads but the thing with effect sizes particular when you start putting numbers on it and it starts to account for different ab fasttrack. Students by setting amounts some months of learning and so on it becomes. It becomes really really tempting to to really buy into that because we love measuring things as as teachers silly senior leaders and so on. And i'd like to mention if you're interested in no more effect sizes. I thought matthew provided are obsolete fascinating overview but my two favorite sources on. This are both podcast by ali. Local and who teach over in australia's been on this podcast a coupla times arabs. The education research reading room podcast and a couple years ago now and make did a double bill audifax sizes. I e intrigued interviewed adrian. Simpson who is really critical. John hattie's work. And adrian unleashed the deluge of real ripping apart the methodology that used but in a real clear ways of the told the stomach is one of the few things i've been managed to get mad around when it came to effect sizes but then as an interest in the next episode ali. Has john hattie on. Who defends effect sizes and. It's fascinating to listen all these incredibly skilled and well read research interviewer. So it's fascinating doorbell. Put links to those in the show notes page in case you want to follow that up a bit more. So this is all led me to start to think given the limitations of educational research giving the problems with things like the findings in effect sizes and so given the time constraints that we as teachers find ourselves in the fact we can only be experts in certain things..

The first one was as we said a bit of a difficult Arab. This one was not. Took a slightly higher up that he insisted all the dirt. It is a heart dirt here at Louisville slugger field but even after kicked off his glove yet time to recover, I think it's still get the out bobbled it again. First time he's been back to shortstop since Sunday. You're Stuart Turner, the catcher and takes the first bitch inside ball one. You know the thing about baseball dollar the international league with all the home runs. We've seen Mike is that errors seem to give compelled, there's so much more of a premium of making the routine plays that you need to so that the basis are clear. What somebody does that? Any extra-base runner can make a huge difference and this Homer. Happy Louisville team. The one runner goes it's one on Faldo off right at home plate. In one account on eight whole header Turner, lightheaded catcher. Touch your to home half of the second inning. Lable slugger fields heart one to on this road trip for the pasta will continue onto Indianapolis starting tomorrow night against the pirates of Philly. Erez leans over to get the sign from Santana one swung on popped up. We'll feed fell into the right-field seats and out of play. Red Sox are in action in their series finales up at Fenway park. It's the ranger station price on the mound price in trouble only gotten two outs. The Rangers already piled up four runs in the first inning. Not the way it's gone recently for price throw the first and the runner rep Snyder back to the base Eighthly. Price came in with a two seven zero ERA. At first for Louisville. No want to on rolled fell into third base that's dugout. It's really good since that opening rough stretch all the Red Sox starter said the first two weeks of the season, Stephen prices hit like that ever since he's been simply put one of the best pitchers based. Eight needed him to be that good to stay around the five hundred. Throw to first again ref. Snyder back safe. Pastor day with a walk off and walk Red Sox one in the afternoon at Fenway park. I was a big win and make sure they didn't fall below five hundred. Over entering tonight. Early deficit for. Want to swung vowed straight back. Adrian Simpson start ranges if the Red Sox. Don't drop six of the gates of their hopes. I don't think we saw that delegated played really well at home. Mirrors set San won two straight three call pitch from Ramirez. He froze Turner with a cutter and it's the second strikeout for Rasco and the first out in the second. So now that the nine man for Louisville Alberti Avas the right head hitting shortstop. Only ninth game in AAA this season. Tied to, to pasta cts and Louisville here in the second inning throat. I gotta rep Snyder back to base near the other thing about David price struggling early, if you have to leave that start forgetting the game of the middle innings becomes interesting for the Red Sox, I would assume they may have to Josh Smith. As the long, man. She's high ball one two out there to job. It's called up yesterday from Pawtucket just for that reason provides insurance, the remainder of this week. But up with Travis Laken. It's been a revolving door pitcher, the Red Sox poss- other throw to first. Restaurateurs debase. The Red Sox loose tonight. Would be their thirty fifth loss of the season. Took them a while to reach that Mark last one. Oh, runners to move it. Swung grounded into right field. The basic well-executed hit and run. I to third ref. Snyder makes it to third. It's a single Java's anorectic quarters from mobile with one out in the second in two game. You what this guy Bertie shop is has not been much of a hitter, whole career that she's been a big pest, Cecil series batting out of that night spot for Jody Davis. Executed that perfectly getting through the vacated right side. And Beckham the bats. He's look good defensively as well. We saw him at shortstop yesterday. Tonight shortstop for Louisville is Alex blandino bats right now. I bet. Plan Dino takes inside ball one. Last year. It was August ninth. When the Red Sox lost their thirty fifth game of the season. At what point they were eighty six and thirty five. Right now sitting on thirty five and thirty four different feel to the one, oh those backstop and runner from third rep Snyder bolts to the plate and scores on a wild pitch Rasco Ramirez globally this three to John has moves up to second. Call it a wild pitch in watching the replay. I'm not sure that once tennis shouldn't have caught that ball was high in a little bit outside, but just got a slow to react. Just kinda sale right past his outstretched catchers. Another unearned run all three runs are unearned against Russell because of to zu Lin eras. Then at second one out the to denote, six low three balls and no strikes. Those errors have the most port outcomes, this young for change the way that Ross to pitch. There's a second. Three. Oh, there's a fastball for strike three and one. It's also driven his pitch count cities, forty fifth. Pitch already socks defensively only recorded for outs. Three to Louisville comes three one. There's a strike. Full count, now on blandino struck out looking his first time on good cutter for Rivera's back in the first inning. The whole infield is in shadows. Wild pitch proved costly three to a ball four. I walked from Rasmus Ramirez tonight and land, no reaches. There's two on with one out here in the second inning pitching coach, Kevin walkers, rolls out of the first base dugout competing with the entire foods and battery. I walk roscoe's and that's been so much better rivers. Lastly, alex. All of a sudden back yourself into a bit of a quarter of ready having a lot of run of the you've got these really talented Bill of the order hitter. Coming up loopholes, I would say top five. They have been lethal a lot of the season, we've seen it on display by this series less far. It's been hard again. Alone grading Irvine, especially Tina. See why they've got the third best team. Batting average of any the internationally coming in. Have Rupe debris that top of the lineup. Here's their number two had our Cologne who started the night with a three hundred average each on the first error his first time takes off speed for strike. One. Poss down three to own half of the second inning from Louisville. Peres would love to throw one of his sinkers generated double play ball. Stocky righty sets. Here's the one outside low. Cutter, then. Christian Cologne is a former fourth overall traffic years ago by the royals out of state Fullerton. A lot of time in the big leaks. One swings field. That's a piece it castio charges. John has got to stop citing runs right through it to the play this time and the Lancet and other. All the third base coaches, dick Scofield. He is looking at hope plate because how they're teach shabas got a red light saw lighted scored. Anyway. Just a little bit up to the first bayside of play date Reuss nays throat. And he also double clutched before a court to get otherwise. The job is dead to rights. He stepped on the plate didn't slide and got his foot in Rytas center attack. Ended up beat bang bang. It worked out for Louisville doesn't have to that's textbook run through the stop sign don't slide run into the unpire four to first pitch ball, one to Brian oak Grady. They've got the man hung up at I wrote back to first, and they pick up Christian Cologne. Centennial snaps one down to chance in witty at first and dance. How the PawSox get the second out of the inning. Wild couple of sequences here back to back the loan got a play with fire every time he's on base. Remember last inning, he was dancing back and forth forced the Bach. That's he was like three quarter wealth third of the way to second base when want Centeno caught the pitch. It was a ball. It's one of the pitch to a gradient strike cut around the outside Warner. Pasta csar down or two in another of that full start to ballgame in the bottom of the second inning. Outs men at second comes a one. That's this is galls strike. Quite I don't know why Colo took so long to go back to the first base bag. It was almost as if he thought that if there was going to be back dick. They would have thrown a second base. And he just kind of lumbered back to I was out easily. We're at that point. He thought the man at second would go to third. I don't know picks outside three and the PawSox desperately needed that out. So it worked out extremely well for Russell. There have been outs for the taking on both sides so far. Guy running through stop sign a runner competent, first seconds of errors, possibly have committed. Possibly shift bid at three ones. Outside ball four. Grady works. The walk after blew out to deep centers. I and there's two on once again for mobile four two in the second inning. Assist. Not been to start that the PawSox wanted on a day, where their, their bullpen is quite thin. Smell Ramirez is ready to throw. His fifty fifth pitch already batters. Philip Hurtig is aggressive early and counts. I urge swings and grounds at heart towards second affadavit until buy into right field Dido races around third and scores and noble ads on another. Is that the second? He can get out. Phillip urban right now. Two for two in two innings. He's driven into he's got a double a single had two hits yesterday. And it's just been cooking. Six handed the series with five are. Socks don't want to do it, but I think they're going to have to get some both activity that tell you what might you camp through earn the near the strikes. The first pitch is up there hunting just about every time, the very first off, at least, what three of those five RBI series of the first swing Trevor Kelly. Now starts to throw in the bullpen first pitch to RSD Sacchi, no has popped up into shallow right center should get the pasta cts out of the inning goal sturgeon makes the catch in right? And the inning is over. Eight to the plate for Louisville in the second, they add on three more, rugs after the pasta, tied inventory, pack we go to the third..

"Back in Chicago be fourth quarter. Final game of the day of the big ten tournament. The twenty second big ten tournament. It started at the United Center so many years ago alongside Doug Gottlieb. I'm Greg Daniels. Michigan on the verge of punching the fourth ticket to the semifinals tomorrow leading Iowa seventy two to forty eight dominating in nearly every facet of the game. Outscoring Iowa's bench nineteen nine. That's the Hawkeyes. Been put up thirty last night against Illinois, fast-break points, eleven to two and steals. Michigan nine to Iowa four. Agri given past it. It's game. They've been really impressive. Yeah. Passing the defense. And I I don't I wouldn't say they'd had chances, but missing free throws missing labs. That's made it such a wide margin. Michigan's a better team they played better tonight. But I was cost themselves. Any hope it being within arm's distance right now with this Rico's misled three and a half to play Iowa into their half court set. Luca Garza pick and roll Bohannon. Good show by Austin Davis back to on the baseline is jumpers. No, good rebound. Jordan pool. Michigan's guards do a good job of getting in and helping out on the glass. Rebound very well. They do. So Michigan will advance barring some sort of fantastic collapse to take on the gophers of Minnesota was talk about that match up a little bit. I saw that match in person called for compass media networks, and it was actually machine kept him at arm's distance most the first half and Minnesota made made a big run got to within two. And then John tests you hit a head at three. I think poo poo pool hitting threes. Adrian Simpson hit a three and then it became kind of lights out, but they were making shots early. And then got little failed. The difference in the makeup of that team is Jordan Murphy. We had a spectacular Neidl. We call the game spectacular. Like, that's a tough match up. The Michigan at the power forward position sabres Simpson. Isaiah livers go off to a big an from the Michigan crowd as does Jordan pool. Fantail players. He just fun to watch runs a team. He's learned to make a shot has that running hook shot. Incredible defensive player. Boss, misses the pick and pop three Johns pulled down the rebound is a very good player. He has gotten one shot. I believe today one. They just have not loud met any airspace. At all David Julius moves it to Brandon John's John's couple dribbles to the baseline now holds it up. Giving back to the Julius Julius to John's looking for Austin Davis on the inside instead Johnson, Jack three no good. Rebound to Isaiah boss. And Craner down a two minutes to play Michigan leading at seventy two to forty eight. Lees camp with the dribble. Looks download a creature creature catches at deep turns right hand. Push kind of a half hook shot half shotput. No, good rebound. Charles matthews. Minnesota's Michigan takes time out here. Minnesota's sort of shifted recently where the ball has been in the hands of Amir Coffey even more than it was. I'm not sure if it's more so than when you saw that matchup does that change the match ups at all or the way that is twenty point game in a row, and he's he's been playing outstanding for for Minnesota. I think that this is a tough match-up against Michigan. Because he's got a lengthy legal and athleticism. And that's what the Michigan wings again. If you're looking for where you're looking for a way of Minnesota may have an advantage there more athletic at the four and five. You know, we we mentioned earlier. Murphy, but also Daniel or Toro is he's very very athletic. Now, he can cover on switches can cover test e away from the basketball. He's really growing. He's a freshman, but getting better Julius steps into three off a hesitation, he missed it. And the rebound comes down to the hawk is. They don't have is. They don't have a placate Austin ash misses the three point shot and Michigan clears the rebound ahead. They'd renew news. Unita's on the nearside CJ bear will dribble. It back to point handed off to Julius eighty seconds to play Michigan comfortably in the lead. Seventy two to forty eight over the hawk is three point shot out of the way. No, good procedure. Baird rebound claimed by Austin aspirin, Iowa Seagate bears. Get went up I touch on the rights for three. They'll always be able to say scored in Jordan's house. Correct. With some really colorful shoes. Very bright. The Julius dumps at deep Austin Davis puts it up in an off the window for Michigan. Seventy four fifty one with forty six seconds to play. Isn't mazing with John B lines done. It really is. I mean, look at what they lost some last year. Yeah. Fifty six percent of the scoring. Muhammad Ali Abdul rock Mon was a really good player was a fantastic player in the tournament last year, the big ten tournament IMO Wagner, of course, Faulkner. Yeah. First round pick two very good players and then guys just step in. And remember last year they were struggling until about midseason till you made the switch at point guard puts eight your Simpson. That's really the correlation in change, and they become an elite defensive team that doesn't foul. John. We saw last year the big ten tournament member. Yeah. He was he was just a guy who came in and gave him a few minutes. And then all of a sudden got into foul trouble that championship game. And he played he played great against Isaac hostages a coming out party for him. He had that Duncan Haas late in the game on the screen and roll with Simpson slowdown hitting that long jumper as Julius tries to go inside. He does to Brandon John's John's tried to wait out the defense missed it back out to Baird for three in and out. The bench was dying for that. One to go in thirteen seconds left. Twenty one point Michigan league got one three or four across the time. Once the dribble. Down to six seconds. I we're going to get a shot. Here's ash, we'll send the knuckleball towards the rim. It's a little short. Unfortunately for him. He will always know he shot an air ball. In vows. Michael Jordan, built better than me. Didn't do anything here. Michigan gets the inbound. And this one will be final. The wolverines will advance to the semifinals. They dominate the hawk is tonight seventy four to fifty three coming up. We'll have some closing thoughts from the court and the national association of realtors play player of the game. You're listening to the big.
