Dwayne Haskins named the Redskins’ starting quarterback for rest of season
"Appropriate that we begin with news out of the nation's capital redskins coach Bill. Callahan said within the last half hour that Dwayne Haskins the redskins starting quarterback the rest of the way Haskins started the last game for Washington against the Buffalo Bills. Coming off a bye the redskins will face the jets. That's this week Tim Thought the decision to name. Dwayne Haskins distorted the rest of the season. Do it now and stop answering the question. I guess and that's the key I think you just go make a decision and go with it. Don't look back. He's the quarterback of the future. They want him to be the quarterback of the future and so rather than answering questions each and every week. There are being somewhat of a distraction. The rest of your football team but I think also a message to Dwayne of okay. Here's the deal. You need to get ready. You need the be ready and prepared to go out and play and play at a high level each and every week in these what the expectations are for you as a starting quarterback in the National Football Tali at so. I think they need to do it. They'll still be somewhat difficult to evaluate him because of some of the situations you know there and we've seen some guys get better watching somebody else. The truth matter is find out if you can play or not by actually client yeah. This is a situation or decision that I felt should have been made once. You named him the starter for the Buffalo Bills Game. This shouldn't have been a thing where we're going to put him in pulling Glenn Beck. I'll see if we can start Cole McCoy or go with case keenum once you decided to go with the Wayne ask is. He's you're first round draft pick. You WanNa see if he's your quarterback of the future because as you will be moving on to a new coach and he may have to get his own guy and he's still a rookie so you the only way you're gonNA learn is on. The job is by going out there and doing it and I think they knew that is interesting that they waited until go bye week to do this. And and case keenum won't be the number two quarterback and Cole McCoy will be the third quarterback but he's shown Some glimpses in that last start. You see the arm talent. That's the one thing that that was. I don't think that's ever been concern listening to people. Call a game. When people people have obviously met with the team and have talked to the coaches and production meetings about this and they wanna make sure he he can call the play properly in the huddle call like say what what you want? There was a reason he wasn't playing and it was not because the physical ability. There was a lot of talk about him. Not Being Mentally Ready to play the game and and you have to at least give yourself a chance to succeed before the bolts. And if you're not doing that that's why you're not on the field the criticisms if you can call Oh them that wasn't about whether he was smart enough but they were interpreted that and I think Adrian Peterson and trying to explain and maybe defend himself last week or the week before. was He telling Dwayne it's time for you to get into the playbook in other words it was really learning how to be a pro. And that's what they wanted to do is learn how to be a pro in terms of how you prepare apparent when he's sitting there at number three and no one that play. I don't think he prepared like a guy who might start that week.
Antonio Brown lawsuit: What to know about rape accusation
"Latest on Antonio Brown he's accused of sexual assault and rape and a civil of a lawsuit filed by his former trainer Britney Taylor his lawyer categorically denied those accusations on Wednesday authorities weighed in both the Miami Dade and allegany counties Onis jurisdictions where the lawsuit says the assaults were committed release statements effectively saying they weren't contacted about the allegations now. The question is what happens next the newest New England Patriot has practice with the team meanwhile the team and the NFL remain mum on whether he'll play on Sunday against the dolphins the Miss Taylor is expected to meet with the NFL NFL next week sources tell Adam schefter after she gets married this weekend was talk about this and bring an insider Joe Seen Anderson for more so Josina what does the NFL considering in deciding what to do with Antonio Brown well first of all Ryan they have to gather information as much as they can outside of what's been put forth in Brittany Taylor's lawsuit food and make a determination here I if there is conduct detrimental which is very overarching when you consider the power of the Commissioner relative to Article Forty six in the CBA Zeba and then there to also determine if they're gonNA put Antonio Brown on the exempt list which basically gives the NFL power to continue to pay Antonio Brown without so having him practice or play and you know that they did that with Adrian Peterson back in two thousand fourteen when he had that child endangerment charge obviously very situation. That's very different here with Ab. Maybe in terms of him not being charged. It's just a civil case in their allegations on both sides and that's what you have to kind of bet through two different versions right now with people making allegations and not necessarily early charges right now you've been talking to people surrounding the case what is Britney Taylor the young woman who accused Antonio Brown of sexual assault and rape. What is she trying to achieve she even her talks with the NFL well right. It's opportunity for her next week to meet with the NFL right. Now we know that there is a scheduled date although that data's actually not released just yet for her to give her version obviously right now we're in a situation where he said versus she said and what's compelling and no situations is being able to have any evidence is that you can present to really support your case now. I read her lawsuit twice over and there are some things that she has four that she can. You know maybe use in say to bolster her case as you remember when she talked about alleged that Antonio Brown did a sexual act near her without her consent. She mentioned that she told Antonio Brown chef and that she also told her mother. We'll see if she's going to present any type of testimony from then obviously in situations involving sexual assault anytime you can present physical evidence that you have a close or or anything to help support your case that would be good and my conversations that I've had with people surrounding her case. It doesn't seem as if a rape kit was done but there may be a possibility ability that she maintains some of her clothing from the situation right in with some of that physical evidence it can be difficult because sometimes it's hard to prove that whether that means consensual sex we're not claiming so one of the thing here he plays on Sunday. What message does it send to those have been critical of the NFL for their handling of of sexual assault accusations and domestic violence accusation well. It's a very thin line to walk. Ryan because on one hand you want to show as the league that you're being fair to your employees see that being Antonio Brown because at this stage is just false accusations. That's one of the reasons why Tony Brennan said that he's fighting this case so vigorously because he says that he wants to clear his name and also protect himself and future athletes from possible false accusations on the other hand you have Brittany Taylor making a very serious charge that goes all the way to rape and and you want to show as a leak to the public that's your sensitive to sensitive issues like sexual assault so they have to walk that fine line and the way that you you do that is by gathering as much information as you can and that acting to swiftly though you want to make a sound judgment of course we're all seeing and waiting to see what they actually do here and whether or not Antonio Brown played this weekend against the dolphins does seem to thank
"adrian peterson" Discussed on The Kevin Sheehan Show
"You want it. You need it. It's what everyone's talking about the Kevin Sheehan show now here's Kevin. You're listening listening to the sports. Tommy is here. Erin is here we're all here. and we're going to have some fun today a short sprint mode because we've all got things to do this afternoon. We apologize for that. That's my fault because we had some issues with the studio this morning so we are. GonNa have the studio. Do you up and running for forty five minutes which will give us a quick forty five minute podcast for you today. I guess you know when I think about it now. I didn't even have to mention that we could have just gotten to forty eighty five minutes and stopped. Yes and people would said Hey. What's the deal. Why is it so short but I'm telling you up front. It's because we're getting late started late today because we had issues with the studio and and now we've got people like Tom. Erin that have other responsibilities this afternoon so let's get to it first of all good week to you I haven't seen you since last Thursday. We've had a lot transpire. Only yes absolute lot. I'd like to start with the things that I actually care about. The most in that is is getting your reaction to the Redskins thirty to twenty seven loss to Philadelphia on Sunday. You were there. Yes I will you were in the locker room afterwards. What did you think of the overall day the effort and then the reaction to it well. I mean the overall effort first of all case keenum was is remarkable. It's very good he was he was very good and in the first half I mean he missed some things. Don't get me wrong like the biggest play the game east in the first half Jay gruden Chakib that I have video when he goes to apply for another head coaching job and say see look at that that's what I can do and that's not Aaron Rodgers back there. That's case keenum and we were playing the eagles. I mean that's how good that first half was for him and then the decision vision to me that I think that decision not to activate Adrian Peterson and this sense of urgency of using various guys I thought that I turned in the second half for them now. I'm in a real small minority on its. I'm sure you won't agree with me but there was a sequence of place early in the third quarter where Redskins lead twenty two fourteen at that point and they got the ball pretty deep in their own territory. Maybe twenty five ever maybe it was just the twenty five and I down there as guys no gain second down. I think it was case. Keenum Incomplete Pass S. third-down dairies guys five year loss. They had the ball for two minutes. They're basically and then punted the ball from deepen our own territory. Darren sproles WHO's found the Fountain of youth returned it to the forty seven yard line right and then you had the had the fifty he three yarder to deshaun Jackson for for touchdown to give Philly the lead at that point when they when they had the ball deepen their territory. You needed a running back who could grind it out. You needed a guy who could just move the chains. Once twice would have been great but just wants to have moved the chains to kept your defense off the field a little bit more kept phillies offense off the field a little bit more being even better field position when you punted the ball down the field to put philly deeper in their own territory. That was when you needed Adrian Peterson do I not I think eight. Do I know Adrian Peterson would have been able to do that. I don't know if he would've but I know he has done it. Darius Geiss has never done it in. NFL came name that was when they needed just they needed to. I down at that point. One would have been fine to would have been a gift at that point and then they punt the ball and maybe you never see the Sean Jackson touchdown pass after that and to me that that illustrated the foolishness of not just benching Adrian Peterson put this whole notion of of special teams. J. ALLUDED TO IT IN THE POST game press conference offerings talk about how impressive Darren sproles was in the game well. If that's the case why the sense of urgency I for dressing and starting various these guys what what was the urgency if this was a situation where you really felt you needed your special teams situation at that point y play the rookie too. If you're in a running back dilemma why why go with the guy who has it still hasn't proven himself in NFL game. I think Jay had a terrible had a great first half but it was overshadowed by his really foolhardy decision decision not to use Adrian Peterson. You know this is this is the great thing about what we do and I was talking to doc about this yesterday about you know it seems like like we get into this football season with this particular franchise and then what we do which is covered this team and talk about this team. It's it's the gift that it keeps on giving. It never stops. It is a total lock that they're going to give you something other than the results of the game which which more often than not or losses to talk about into be upset about into debate about in all positions more times than not a reasonable so so. I would just start with this like and I said this on the podcast yesterday with cooling and on the radio show after the defense failed them the defense. It's failed them and the defense failed them. I would get to like the fourth reason they lost the game. That's my view. The defense gave up three hundred and eight yards twenty five points and eight of ten on third down in the second half and by the way just for you know to mention this even though it doesn't show out outs statistically as much defense only allowed seven points in the first half but Philadelphia drove the ball on him. Philadelphia had a twelve play fifty or drive they windfall on a fourth in to the only reason they're I drive got derailed as Jackson got hit with a fifteen yard penalty fighting Dunbar. They scored a touchdown on one and then you know one another one they had a penalty so it's not like the defense was phenomenal in the first half but it wasn't the glaring issue that it became in the second half when it essentially could not get off the field at all at any point in time. Philadelphia went touchdown drive touchdown drive touchdown drive field goal Dr Neil out one plate and the game so I in terms of just this game and I'll get to the Adrian Peterson stuff. It's what happened on their first drive in the second half when geist gained nothing on a play in which and then on second and ten they were going to run them again but there was a false start all right with Moses now your first and second and fifteen and then they ran him again and Fletcher Cox completely blew up the interior of the line. Maybe Adrian three in Peterson on that first downplay would've gotten seven yards and then the for the false start would have been a second in eight instead of a second fifteen. I don't know maybe I I do know this that Jay Jay's success in the first half and the right game plan against Philadelphia was to attack Philadelphia's his weakness which was their secondary not their interior front seven trying to run the football against a team. That's difficult to run the football against and they we're successful doing what he you know had the idea to do would he in Kevin Okay McConnell game plan for which was to throw the ball with by the way hey supplies weapons to all of us not to them right. No one knew I mean we heard about Terry. McLaren hadn't seen it now. We know that guy's got not only blazing speed speed. He's got separation skill got hands. Get Him so this immediate you know when he got into camp optimism mm-hmm and almost the day one. We're hearing oh he's not. GonNa play special teams yeah. He's going to be your lead receiver and we're like really terry. maclaurin the guy they drafted in the third third round a we just thought he was a gunner a great specialty in May develop into a good receiver. We saw what they saw in the in the opener I I on the on the Peterson thing Tommy. It's like my feeling yesterday and I came in today on radio and spent too long talking about the calls just kept coming. I this is a real hot button topic right now. How the hell could Jay Gruden deactivate a hall of Famer and you mentioned the players that they had up in lieu of Peterson when those players like the runningback smallwood was in a nineteen special snaps. She's it's not like Adrian. Peterson where we see you would more likely than not. Who are you going to put down. WE'RE GONNA put down Chris Thompson. I'm certainly out guys okay. You're going to put down guys yeah. You're going to put down the guy who basically they told us a year ago. When they drafted him they stolen. He was a first round guy. This is emmett Smith Barry Sanders in Jim Brown in reincarnated. We're so smart for drafting this guy and of course he gets hurt. The only reason that Adrian Peterson is on this roster is he got hurt in the preseason last year and then Doug Williams did not ask for permission he decided to beg for forgiveness and just go ahead and bring Adrian Peterson in for a workout in Doug was right to do it neighboring great last year he wouldn't have been here had guys gotten hurt. had had guys not gotten hurt the season. They played guys in the third preseason. They look really good. Yes he did and Peterson look good in his one. Yes he did so you get into. The area of the coach made a decision that he thought it was in the best interests of the football team now. It's hard to really debate strongly that they wouldn't have been better off with with Peterson. You may be right. They could have been better ah better off a Peterson the experience the opener the the stage but I don't see any way in which was healthy off being drafted where he was last year. You're over the excitement over what we were told. We missed all last year not having guys to put him down in the opener. I can't imagine that that was ever going. Sonja possibility oh you're a prisoner of your own decision in that case. You're a prisoner of the decision to draft. Dairies guys know your yes. You are now your prisoner of the fact that the player that you WANNA play in. Maybe the right player to play for the football team. Best guys may have been the GUY TO J. Thanks gives them the best chance to win. Sunday Sunday best chance going forward the problem is is the player you deactivated was Adrian Peterson if it had been you know another journeyman journeyman running back that had had a good year. Let's just take Alfred Morris. Let's say Alfred Morris had come in last year and been you know the back for the redskins. When Guy Scott her. No one would have cared no no one would've it was the fact that that you're deactivating. Adrian Peterson and then the stories came out about how Whoa the locker room is not happy. You know all of these veteran players ears in the locker room that have well and so much not happy. It's gone beyond that Aaron what did bence. I just talked to Ben. What really yeah I just talked to him because somebody texted? I in me what he was reporting. Yes and call them because I didn't really understand what the text was and Ben Essentially believes that Gruden is the only Geiss Fan Dan on the coaching staff that the rest of the coaches believed that Adrian Peterson's just a flat out better player in would have been a better option for them not only in the opener but moving forward word which you know is a knock on Geiss and a credit to to to Adrian Peterson now. I do know that J does like guys. I also know that Bruce Likes guys. Remember remember Bruce didn't bring Adrian Peterson in Libya. I we know how petty and small minded he can be and jealousy can be..
Bruce Allen, President of the Washington Redskins, Talks Training Camp
"Get you're saying welcome to football season it's the third week of July for crying out loud the Napster for games out in playing very well it's it's hard to shift your gears but it's red skins well I'm sure here so I guess you know the great thing about training camp is you lose sight of everything because you're with the players from six AM to eleven PM yeah and we are we're inundating them with football football football understandable and then not not running with the bulls or anything like that no we had a talk did you have a conversation with Mister Norman about you know I wasn't a fan of you dancing you know with the debt limit stars yet but I have you dance with the women that dance with the book yeah I think it probably a good choice hi this is your fourth year now in Richmond for our six year is six I'm so sorry for under and and what it turned out it was today I we're on break right now but the fans will be coming back relationship still strong with the city here it's it's strong with the city with you know Richmond is really one of the big NFL markets there in the top ten in television ratings while for every Monday night game the Super Bowl the draft so there's a lot of foot NFL fans here and obviously this is rights can country can you know the time pretty well could you at the governor just won't come on my show I don't I'm not sure why he's been in the news a lot lately could you could you give me a hook up there we've we've heard from the office and we're expecting him to come to practice either Friday maybe this weekend so give me a heads up on that I'll swing by for fat all right let I got to talk about the Redskins in the season ahead of us who's your starting quarterback Jeez I was wondering if you'd asked me that question that hasn't been determined yet the Philly is anybody's job yeah that would Jay's been doing as you saw in the first practice is each player's a cold case and Wayne are all getting equal amount of wraps and they're working with the first in the second and the third groups and we're not going to worry about that for a while now I know why shouldn't loves a quarterback controversy as much as independent counsels yeah right now we're going to let him continue to work and continue to grow and and of course it was talking about do what's happening with your left guard right now the the offensive line seems a little a little different without without are at the heart of the team without Trent there what's what's happening there you have news on that old out no news on it he's not here we love them but he's not here and is everybody talking I mean either you having conversations at least to work through this yeah it's really Trent tranice explained his position to me and we'll see what happens but right now we have to focus on the guys were here well if it listed as we had a great time last season obviously it was an incredible start you superseded everybody's expectations of the B. first half of the year and then these injuries com and it does ask question in that it's got to kill you obviously when you see these injuries in these guys are a part of your family and and you get to know them so much what is it about the red skins it seems is it is it the turf is it the the the program that you've got for strength and conditioning I mean I've seen your facilities there their top of the line you know Larry we we brought in some independent people to try and analyze the different injuries and after spending about eight weeks of our time and their time they came back with the you know there's no correlation is just the fleet demand yeah you know if it was just pulled muscles are growing sin and things soft tissue type of things then it would be the training regimen but we broke some bones we separated some shoulders we pulled some calf muscles we pulled we did it we did a mall you got everything that we share it was hopefully goes in the cycle and and it and it all happened the cowboys I don't wish injuries on any but I do but not us our receipt with Bruce Allen president of the red skins here on day one of training camp that between now that Lester yeah the jets here and they they were thugs right they were day beaten up on our players and our fans what team comes in at the end of this season will be the bangles because that's the first preseason game it didn't work out with the bangles okay so we're we're not gonna have any team come to Richmond we're just we're gonna work is our our own units and then get ready to play the Bengals ran by the way you this goes through what August fourteenth I want to say off the top of my head I believe a right right in there if you guys want to come down here for a beautiful long weekend or just take a couple of days off Richmond is incredibly hospitable and it's a really cool atmosphere don't cost anything to come in the gate no it caught the cost nothing I I do know someone bought a beer a Budweiser very early this morning that that was that I just bought that for the picture I can actually drink the beer I'm workin Bros an hour but it's not it's not get me in trouble or allies I have more questions if you'd like me to ask the group if we're trying to get each other in trouble well no we appreciate the business thank you for let's let's talk about what your expectations are for this season I know on the first day of training camp everybody thinks that we got a chance at the Superbowl instructing the parity in the NFL is incredible but the if you read the press accounts you guys don't have a chance to make it past the first week it all and that's a good thing that's motivating right yeah it's it's it's our players understand that expectations with you don't national outlets is in great for us the the cowboys in the eagles on the eagles have been a very good team that won the Superbowl couple years ago but we can make our own history and that's that is the message here and if you see the shirts that the players are wearing they say everything matters and so we're gonna try and get the details down here in Richmond and trying to get ready for opening gaming and win again when I was talking to the fans here during the the first half of the day for the first practice they were all raving about the draft and do something about this draft in particular that has given so much hope and excitement to the fans odd that talk about your draft talk about the strategy that you have there and who you really look I mean obviously you want all of them to to start eventually but who are you really looking after this season from at twelve each day is very important for the young players and and any new player that comes in to to the red skins or any team because I got to learn the new terminology the new systems and learn their new teammates and what they can count on from their teammates so the young players it's very important for him they're working really hard and we are excited about a week we see great things for them here's where those so you you want to make it a starting quarterback right now is pretty much up for grabs a everybody yes several out of that out of the next ten minutes there goes that that career option starting running back kind of the same situation right even Adrian Peterson obviously coming back but he's not necessarily in you know every down kind of running back right we use a group runny back system for a number of years eight Adrian obviously looks beautiful and is the best body out here him in Vernon Davis it's a tie between who the best body is in any way once again you're not station but Chris Thompson's been such a valuable asset for us on third down and out of the backfield but getting various guys back yeah watching the compile competition for them I was injured right around this time like third day of training camp last one of the first preseason game against overstressed hatred and that and and awful awful but having various guys back and he's he's healthy hundred resign and he's he's healthy knock on wood please not cancel that service thank all right so no conversation with you is complete we're gonna have plenty conversations I understand we're gonna we're gonna you're gonna be a regular here on the program over the course of the year so what's going on with the stadium the stage where we gonna be where we gonna be we do not have that announcement yet you'll you'll get to hear when we do expect to make an announcement about a new stadium new home for the Redskins sometime this year I would say within a year of that if that is the time table we're looking at our deadline for making the decision is really twenty twenty two because our lease and in Maryland and sin and twenty twenty six and so yeah but they don't build around here like they do in Vegas like that they they made the that stadium for the raiders was built in like three months out there I it's going to take a longer to building here well there's history in this city for when they're motivated they can do anything they want to do when I interviewed the president and he said he'd like to come to a red skins game what was the reaction in the front office there an aspirin when you were when you were here and that we look at that residence we have we have pictures of red skin park of the presidents of come over the years and it's it's it's it's part of the greatness of this franchise legacy is we're in the nation's capital and we think that's remains as a present wants to go to a game the president redskin says you'd love to have him at the game so I got to be the mediator I got to work this out I get get everybody in the same room and a negotiated down your your on board for this yeah but I thought you had the secretary of state coming to the game no no I left him down and when is that our Bruce down as a present right you want the president to come to the game alright we got a lot of Redskins fans here want that T. R. Bruce thank you and I know you're busy have a good time with with training camp here thanks
Lawyer: Peterson in debt, trusted wrong people
"Star running back Adrian Peterson of the Washington Redskins is reportedly broke in swimming in debt after his lawyer says Peterson trusted the wrong people with his money Peterson is currently being sued for failing to repay a five point two million dollar loan he also has debts of six point six million dollars owed to deangelo vehicle sales and apparently also owes three million to two other creditors now Washington report to camp on Wednesday are well on Wednesday and Peterson after rushing for over a thousand yards last year signed a five million dollar deal which also includes annual incentives of one point five million dollars but I already talk of garnishment and so forth at the sports desk Ted Raimi
The NFL's best and worst offensive arsenals: Barnwell's 32-1 ranking
"Barnwell writes these very lengthy pieces on E._S._p._N.. Dot Com and he wrote a piece that that came out early this morning ranking the N._F._L.'s. Goals offensive arsenals thirty two worst all the way to number one <hes> and basically you know he's considering how the players that the teams have will perform in twenty nineteen. He's not necessarily really just basing it off of recent <hes> recent performance. He's he's he's guessing on what you know. It will be in two thousand nineteen any says also that the as as a preface it with a lengthy the preview before he started ranking them of course in love with is that the arsenals are weighted <hes> the arsenal rankings are weighted more towards receivers than tight ends or running backs <hes> any says also the top elite level talent wins out over depth anyway the rankings start with the thirty second ranked offense of Arsenal Jacksonville Bennett's Denver Miami Seattle and then the Redskins so the redskins have the fifth worst offensive offensive arsenal in the N._F._l.. According to a bill barnwell any rights the investments Washington is made it wide receiver haven't worked out former former seahawks wide out Paul Richardson signed to a five year forty million dollar deal wasn't healthy and Seattle and cautious watches twenty passes in seven games last season former first rounder. Josh DACHSHUND hasn't developed in Washington. Just decline the fifth year option on Dachshund Jamison crowder left the jets <hes> mister relevant Trey Quinn will be as replacement Jay Gruden gruden drafted Terry maclaurin in the third round but there but is there any reason to think Washington is going to start developing whiteouts effectively. This is likely the league's worst group of starting wide receivers while that's the kind those kind the tools you wanNA put around a rookie quarterback and you know the funny thing is according to warn sharp. This is the most expensive offense in the N._F._l.. This mostly costly offense. Well take the field the N._F._l.. Because of the Investment Alex Smith and you know that is not going to write to pay off <hes> yes so I mean again another reason why you you WanNa put this on this limited offense in the hands hands of a quarterback who understands limitations in that case keenum. It's Cole McCoy too but I'm going to operate on the assumption that cultures isn't going to stay healthy so <hes> that's case keenum you don't want to <hes> experiment and test out a rookie <hes> with these with these kind of weapons <hes> especially if you're Jay Gruden and you know you have the expectation or the hope and we're assuming he does is of of having team good enough for him to remain as head coach. You know what's interesting. I was thinking about this as I was reading this early this morning. <hes> that the redskins according to Barnwell look I mean I don't know if it's the worst it's certainly among the five for six worst greg in a starting wide receiver groups and the N._F._l.. And we we know that you know in terms of offensive weapons they don't have much. I mean you have to pray. The Jordan Reed comes back plays thirteen games in his Jordan Jordan Reed again. You got to hope that Chris Thompson is a weapon out of the backfield. The dairy skies pays off as a second round pick and turns into a a guy that with Adrian Peterson is a big time back that that that <hes> Vernon Davis continues to be effective in it somebody somebody whether it's Richardson Dachshund or Harmon or maclaurin. Somebody steps up you.
Prosecutors re-open investigation into NFL star Tyreek Hill
"All right. So this tyreek hill situation has just turned out to be an absolute mess. So rate before the draft starts really what was it like an hour before the draft KC TV, and Kansas City drops this video which they released that it was a recording. Of Tyree kills now. Fiancee's make crystal Espino. Okay. Now this came right after is announced on Wednesday that tyreek hill would not be charged in Johnson county in the child abuse case it was determined. They said that they didn't have enough evidence to determine who committed the injury. Now. Remember the injury. We're talking about is three year old son had a broken arm, and he was accused of breaking his sons are, but they determine their in Johnson county that they didn't have enough evidence to determine who actually did it. Everybody believed. It was tyreek hill, but they didn't have enough evidence to prove it. And if you saw that press conference from Johnson county, it sounded like the prosecutors as well thought it was tyreek hill, they just couldn't prove it. But anyway, crystal Espinel gives this recording KC TV and it's eleven minutes long. So in the recording Espinel tells hill when she asks the boy about the injury to his arm. He said quote daddy, did it hill. Also. Responded, quote, he says daddy does a lot of things Espinel. That says a three year old is not going to lie about what happened to his arm. Okay. Which makes total sense. Why would a three-year-old lie about who broke? His are. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. So she's actually recording this and she saying he said that you broke his arm or he said that you did it. And he says he says daddy did a lot of things. Now, it goes on to say Espen, all and you can hear the audio. I listened to it last night s no said, quote, he's terrified of you hill. Then responds you need to be terrified of me to be word. That's what he said to Aspen, crystal ball. And remember, she should be terrified of them. Because if you go back to tyreek hill college when he was at Oklahoma state. He was venture kicked out. But when he was at Oklahoma state he was charged with domestic violence because crystal Espino said, and he was charged. This is like something he got off he was actually charged. She said that he threw her. Around like a drag once she was pregnant punched her in the stomach multiple times and punched her in the face. That's what happened at college. According to crystal at all when they were together at Oklahoma state, and eventually he was charged with domestic violence the couple is still together. But also in this recording. He said, quote or she said, quote, he kept saying daddy punches me, which you do when he starts crying. What do you? Do you make him open up his arms and you punch him in the chest. Then if he gets in trouble, you get the belt out. This is just sickening to hear this audio. It really is. So essentially what tyreek hill is saying to his kid, according to this recording. And he doesn't deny it. When crystal Espinel says this and they're recording. It's not like he denies it. Okay. He has his son open up his arm. So he can punch him in the chest. That's what crystal has been all saying in this recording. And he doesn't deny it also in the recording. She says this we were getting into it. And he said daddy, you're mean so we walked up the stairs. You said comeback down here. And he didn't wanna go down there. But I was like go down there because it'll end up worse for you. So he walked down there. And then you were getting on his bleep, then he started crying, and you were like shut up shut up. Stop crying shut up. Stop crying and hill. Replied, yes. So he's telling his kid, essentially, it's going to be worse for you. Or she's saying it's going to be worse for you. If you don't go down there now based on stuff that he's done in his pass. So this is everything that's been going on this recording. That crystal Espinel his fiancee took tyreek hill. And now you just look at trying to put this thing forward. What's happened the Kansas City Chiefs? Remember, they waited to see what would happen in terms of the legal process and. In terms of the legal process. They didn't have enough evidence to prove that tyreek hill essentially was the one that broke his arm. But if you listen to this recording the chiefs decided he's not going to be involved in team activities whatsoever. So he's essentially not with the team right now. And then we'll have to see what the NFL will do because the NFL in the past has put players like Adrian Peterson on in the past on the Commissioner is exempt list until they decide what they wanna do. Now. The other thing that pops up to me and all this is tire kill essentially he was saying that he co-operated with prosecutors that he cooperated with the investigation, but based on this recording. Okay, it proves he li- write a proof. He live like the stuff that he was asked about he was lying to prosecutors. He was allying during the investigation. And now you look at it from the chiefs perspective, you got rid of Crame hunt after the video. Appeared where he kicked the woman. He's now with a different team. He's on the Cleveland Browns. But now Atari kill you drafted him knowing all this stuff about them. And you essentially gave the guy a second chance, and you were waiting to see what would happen with this legal process, and you're going to keep them. But then you found out this recording came out. And now you have like essentially, I don't wanna say suspended indefinitely from your team. But he's not with the team right now. He's not going to be part of the off season activities. If you will if this recording is true, you have no choice. You cannot have this guy and you team. Okay. This is just an awful. Look. This is a horrible look to have this guy on your football team. The only thing that could possibly happen from this. The only possible way is for somebody to say, oh, the audio was falsified or this isn't real this recording. But it has tyreek hill and it has crystal Aspinall unless they did something really really weird with the audio to make it sound completely different. There's no way the tyreek hill get away from this one. There's no way the tyreek hill can get off of this one. And if you're the Kansas City Chiefs, you better do something sooner rather than later because remember this is the same Kansas City Chiefs team that just gave a guy over one hundred million dollars that I understand it was in his pass. But Frank Clark is somebody that was found guilty of domestic assault when he was in college. And then the hawks drafted him. And now, you try to form you had Kareem hunt on your Austria. And now you have this guy tyreek hill on your roster. And if it was anybody else that guy would already be off the team, right? You probably wouldn't draft them if it was anybody else. But the fact that the guy is super fast. He's one of the best receivers in the vowel. That's why he's still on the Kansas City Chiefs roster right now. But it's just it's not even about the football aspect with me with this thing. It's just absolutely sickening to think about it. And to think about the fact that you have a three year old kid a three year old kids. Right. That is literally scared of his father because he. He doesn't know what's going to happen next. This is the same guy that beat up crystal Espen all his fiancee when she was pregnant with this kid. This is a guy that had no problem throwing a woman around like a rag doll, according to her punching her in the face punching her in the stomach and now he has a kid who allegedly, and if you believe the recording it's not really allegedly Hugh have a kid that is told to open his arms up. So his father can punch him in the chest. He gets the belt out to beat his kit. Okay. And he is this guy has told his fiancee that after she told him that he's terrified of you. Meaning our son is terrified of you his response to that. Was you need to be terrified of metoo bleep. And that's actually on an audio recording. That guy that guy is playing for an NFL team right now. That's the thing that is just sickening to me the. The fact that there's people like this. And we know there's people like this that are all over the place. But the fact that this guy is around a kid, and I are right now the kid is not in custody of either the mother or the father, which is good for the kids. Because clearly this is not a safe environment for this kid to be around. But just think about it from the kid's perspective. This kid has done nothing. He's a three year old kid, and he has to basically live in fear every single day. He's living in fear every single day because he doesn't know what his father is gonna do. Okay. And the fiancee's has been dealing with a similar situation for years where she was beat up by this guy. So the fiance scared of him the kid is scared of him think about where that kid is right now thinking about this situation where getting away from his father getting away from his mother is probably the best thing for them. Like the kid probably just feels like oh my God. I don't have to worry about getting hit a three year old kid. This is what a three year old kid. Has to worry about what he should be worried about is like what is he going to watch on TV? What is he going to eat for breakfast? Like, he should be worried about his father telling him to open up his arms because he's aggravated. And he's going to punch him in the chest. It's just it's sickening is what it is. It really is.

"Eric berry got cut by the Kansas City. Chiefs today, all pro safety. They just signed Honey badger over there. So that probably had something to do with that one. Redskins resigned. Adrian Peterson, Eric Dickerson And One Thousand Yards discussed on WGR Programming
"The silver lining for the skins was. One Adrian Peterson detox over one thousand yards for the season and moves passed. Eric Dickerson were eighth on the all time rushing list
Adrian Peterson of Washington Redskins rushes for 90-yard touchdown, longest of career
"Since two thousand fifteen Adrian Peterson makes him look brilliant and takes that first hand off ninety yards. You know, if they'd had been one hundred fifty yard field. I think the eagles would have caught him. He definitely looked like he was slowly. But phenomenal run for thirty three year old running back. Right. Larry Michael with the call on the Washington Redskins radio network. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS sports radio. This is one just for a minute moment that I want to point out. I heard Kurt Warner on the Westwood One post game show say this with that ninety yard touchdown. Adrian Peterson now has more career touchdown runs of at least fifty yards than any other player in history. He was tied with Barry. Sanders for fifteen touchdown runs of at least fifty yards. So touchdown runs that cover at least half the field. He and Barry Sanders. Both had fifteen now. Adrian Peterson stands alone atop that mountain thing about it. We are seeing a sure fire first ballot hall of Famer, I don't know whether or not is career extends after this season. But I do know that he has been one of those crazy story lines to come out of the Redskins locker room in two thousand eighteen it's after hours on CBS sports radio. And on Twitter a law radio. I can't

"Lot has happened in this bears. Lions Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit since we last spoke about five minutes ago. It was sixty and thirteen bears lions went down and got a field goal and tied it up at sixteen. Matthew Stafford drops back to pass intercepted and return for a touchdown by the bears extra point is up. And it's good. So six minutes to go in the game. The bears are up now. Twenty three to sixteen on the Detroit Lions stay Smith here. NBC sports ABC's sports radio dot com. Eight five three two three four NBC or hippie up on Twitter at Dave sports. Got. Adrian Peter's Adrian Peterson Adrian Peterson. Wow. This might be one of the dumbest things anybody's ever said. In case you haven't heard. Adrian Peterson was interviewed. I think it was yesterday. And the situation of his child abuse case came up and remember back in two thousand fourteen. It turned out that Adrian Peterson son had to be hospitalized after he gave him a beating with what he called disciplinary reasons. He was disciplining his son. I think he's he made his son go out and get a switch out in the woods and the son brought the switchback, and I mean, it's one thing to give the kid a little spanking. Now, I've never laid a hand on my daughter. She's a freshman in college right now. Her entire life. She's never gotten a spanking either from me or her mother, or it's not the way we believe in parenting. It's not different in our parents day. But it's one thing little spank on the. But if the kid doesn't behave properly. But this was if you read the medical reports this kid had cuts and bruises on his back on his butts on his wrists. And and this this beating so violent and pardon me for being graphic here. But I need to say this to emphasize and there's so much damage was done. And how serious it was to the kid. He had cuts and tears on his scrotum. I mean that that's how he must've just been Waylon on him. Uncontrollably. Adrian. It's unbelievable that you could do that to your own son. For the sun winds up going to hospital cuts bruises welts again. What I just told you about that last one. It was vicious. It was unnecessary. It was violent it was child abuse. And that's what he was charged with. Now, he winds up doing community service and getting a he wound up not doing any jail time. But he was also suspended for one year by the National Football League. And after he was suspended Roger Goodell, whom I know who I am no fan of is. You know, if you listen to the show, as you know. Sent him a very strongly worded letter saying we hope you get the help you need. But you haven't been contrite. You haven't been apologetic enough? You haven't shown any remorse number after that happened? He said, you know, that's just the way it is. That's in my culture, and my community my family what where I grew up whippings were a daily life. We went out and got our own switch, and that's how discipline is handled. Where I'm from. So Goodell wasn't up wasn't pleased. With that explanation said he wasn't apologetic enough and said you are under a zero tolerance policy right now. Miss can't ever happen again. Well yesterday Adrian Peterson is interviewed. And he was asked about the incident with his son back in two thousand fourteen and the suspension any was asked whether that still goes on today what kind of discipline? He has her son. And he said absolutely he'd still disciplines him. And yes, he uses the belts on him. I mean, you you talk about a dumb thing to say publicly. After missing a year a year's pay and getting fined and suspended and all the negative publicity. He had what he is. He's he beat his son. That wasn't a spanking. That was a beating he gave his son when he looked at the medical reports and the police reports. And now you have to wonder if the NFL's going to take action he's under a zero tolerance policy. He was told not to do it. Again. He's admitted publicly that he's still hits the sun with a belt, and he's already been worn once about not sowing enough remorse and not being apologetic enough. And here he goes again. How dumb can you be? No matter what's going on this. This is what should have been the answer. Adrian, you still discipline your son? You're still hit your son. The answer should have been off court. Absolutely not. I learned my lesson. You know, when my culture when I was growing up, you know that that's something that went on. And it took this situation with my son to bring me to light. Of course. I don't do that anymore. I would never lay my son hand, my son again, I've learned from this. I've learned from my mistakes and not become a better father for see that. There's the correct answer right there. The politically correct answer. But I guess he's being honest. He's yeah. Still hit him with a belt when he deserves it. My god. I would think he's going to be fined and suspended by the NFL for I.
Redskins' Alex Smith suffers gruesome, season-ending leg injury
"Larry, Michael and Chris Cooley the team nine hundred Washington Redskins radio network. It was a very serious injury. Thirty three years to the day. The Joe thighs men suffered that gruesome injury to his leg. Alex Smith with a fractured fibula and tibia. He was carted off. He was operated on immediately. His season is over Cole McCoy came on in relief through touchdown pass. Kept it close Washington actually got to a point where they tried a field goal to potentially win the ballgame from sixty three yards out. It's time expired it fell short and Houston hung on for the twenty three to twenty one win. Jay Gruden on the injury that everybody turn their faces away from obviously Alex Smith. He broke his tibia and fibia and fracture. You don't need surgery right away. What did you see? If Alex is injury. Have you spoken to him at the time or since have seen anything the Andhra? I'd knows very painful form, and you know, heartbreaking for a lot of people. He's a great guy a hard worker. I wanna key leaders on his football team. So these things happen in pro football. Unfortunately, just hate to see them happen to a guy like, Alex. But the guy is kill bounce back. Hopefully, he does for right now. The Redskins trying to ride out the remainder of this season are gonna turn to Colt McCoy and Adrian Peterson. Yeah. Two touchdowns today. But Washington at six and four their lead shrink to a single game in the NFC east other side, Houston, seven and three flying high in the AFC, south JJ watt on this win streak. Yeah. I think that's the best thing about this team. Is that we always believe we believe in each other. We believe in find a way, we don't know how we don't know where we don't know why. But we believe that we're going to find a way to win the game. And we've been on that seven times in a row. So we're going to keep that going and just keep working. Hard to try and find ways Houston is the first team to win seven hundred zero after starting
Le'Veon Bell doesn't report to Steelers and can't play this season
"Expires. That's part of the CBA. It's been part of the CBA for twenty five years. But the Steelers are the ones who. Initiated this process. They blocked Levy on bell from going to the open market and getting maximum compensation for his abilities last year. He chose to stay away from the off season program training camp preseason and people were upset and the Steelers were calling out. How dare you not show? Look he didn't have to the rules that the Steelers initiated allowed him to stay away until right before the start of the season make his full twelve point one million dollars and not show up for anything before week one. And he did it and he got vilified for it. Now this year the Steelers do it again, they restrict him once again from going to the open market. So it's his prerogative to not show up for off season training camp preseason regular season. And Chris I don't think he went into the regular season intending to skip the whole year. I think initially it was well, let's see how they do with James Connor. And maybe if they struggle they'll offer me more than eight hundred fifty five thousand a week, and then that didn't happen. So there goes that. And then I think he was gonna show up around. Seven during the bye. And then there was talk about trading. And so I'm not gonna show up then. And I think as we got closer to the end of the line that Tuesday after week ten everyone became aware of it come next year the Steelers if they franchise tag him again, they're gonna have to use that quarterback tender, right? And I think that's when bowel realized you know, what I'm gonna make it to the open market. Whether I play or not I'm just not gonna play. I'm going to give up an extra six million to ensure that I can finally after two years of waiting. He can finally go to the open market and go to the highest bidder. And that that's that's American at its core in a capitalist society. We should be applauding the efforts of any wanted to try to position themselves to get the most money possible. That's what makes our entire way of life revolve. The idea that we're all going to go out there. We're gonna try to capitalize on every situation we can business and professional makes most as much money as we can. That's the American way. But yet on bell does it and we get upset with him. But. Steelers are the ones who have kept him for making the most money. He can he's merely reacting to the moves the Steelers have made to prevent him from getting paid the way. He should that's right. And really, I mean, it's the only profession in the world that this goes on it really is. I think that's the big thing too. I mean, we talked about it a little in the first year and to a point you made in the first hour with all the good points. You just made explaining that. You know, if if love EON bell was still deciding whether he wanted to come back within the last ten days the final nail in the coffin was Dez Bryant tearing his achilles. Tendon in practice that you brought that up in the first hour. And I think that's another great point. You know, we just sit there and think, oh, he, you know. Yeah. You think about this the football game? Well, no practices physically demanding as well. So and stupid things can happen in practice. I've seen guys tear their achilles and tear their ACL's in practice. No contact or a guy tripping and falling on the guy's knee. So, you know, all those things have to be taken into account, the only negative and you told them. Remember, remember, Brandon Marshall story right of half freaked out. He was when you were playing with him in Denver. They hadn't gotten his contract yet. And he's still had regular season games to play being that's going to be. If bell had showed up that would have been his life for the rest of the year because you can't shut that down about you can say, you're not thinking about it. Right. You're thinking about you're thinking about it. And usually when you're thinking about stuff like that. Then you're not playing to your full total capabilities, and aggressiveness, and it's usually the guys that lack aggressiveness that ended up getting hurt in the NFL and those type of place. But yeah, Brandon Marshall I'll still remember we're in Philadelphia in the locker room the Broncos had promised him they would reopen and give him a new contract that didn't happen. I think it was week fifteen we're going into Philadelphia. We're in the we're in the bathroom looking ourselves in the mirror before we go out. And he's kinda yelling at them. Like, you are right. And he goes I just can't play like this. I can't play like this. I know I'm so close to you know, finally, breaking the Bank and making all this money for the future betterment of. Mm and his family, and so many things and it's hard to let it loose. When that's in the back of your mind. So yes, there you have to give a guy like Le vian, some compassion and a sport and football at the running back -sition. There are no guaranteed contracts. And he's just using the tools that he sees necessary to benefit himself. And the other thing too is the only thing I say is negative here. Mike, this is the only negative for really levian bell. Is that he loses one year in his prime. That's the only thing I can look at you know, you only have so many years of being that top shelf type football player. And he was that. And he just loses one year. I doesn't matter in the long run. But I'm just saying that's the only thing I would bring up yet. Yeah. But here's the thing. And I understand how the aging process works that applies to everyone in the NFL except Tom Brady. You look at it this way. You kind of doing an advance on your retirement like like, we don't know how long he would have played if he had played this year. But you could make the argument that his career will last as many total years is it would have if there's going to be one more tacked onto the end then would have been right now because he's he's avoiding the wear and tear, and I think for running backs it's more about wear and tear than aging, right? Because you really don't start to lose a step until you're on the wrong side of thirty five. And I think physically the body is still going to be in a position where it can withstand the pounding at that age if it hasn't taken the pounding earlier, and we're seeing guys like Frank Gordon Adrian Peterson get it done deep into the thirties. I think that that for a running back giving up a year now could ultimately lead to adding a year later, but we'll never be able to disprove or prove because we won't know how long would have played if he hadn't sat this year out. We put up a poll question before the show. Do you support labor on Bell's decision to skip twenty eighteen right now fifty three percent? No forty seven percent. Yeah. It was fifty fifty right away. And and I'm surprised there are as many who say, yes. Because I thought the knee jerk reaction for most fans would be he's in the wrong. Why would he choose not to play football? He doesn't love football. He doesn't love his teammates. He doesn't love America. He doesn't love God. I mean, that's where some of these arguments. Go it's ridiculous. How these arguments quickly spin out of control. I'm glad to see forty seven percent of the people out there understand how it should be interpreted. And how we should be reacting to a guy who's making a business decision based upon what he thinks is right for him. Yeah. It's actually an encouraging number. That's why I looked at I expected it to be like sixty five thirty five, and you know, people not supporting his decision. I really did. But you know, hopefully, we are us to included are educating people about this process, and that it is a business and every player has to approach the NFL as their own singular entity as you yourself are the business here, and hey, I could speak to it. Myself, mike. I mean, I got I got tendered as my fourth year in the NFL. Right. I said, you know, what we went to the playoffs the year before I played really good. I could have asked for more money as a starting quarterback and football. But he said, you know, I said I'll I'll take one for the team and be good and be a good soldier to everybody else. Well, you know, what happened in week four? I lost my spleen that was never the same. And I never really got to capitalize the way I should have. So you know, it's all fine and dandy game. Plans are all great until you get punched in the mouth like Mike Tyson used to say, and those are the things that happen in football, which is of course, incredibly physical. So that's really the bottom line for bell. It's good.
"adrian peterson" Discussed on The Dan Patrick Show
"Texas fans. USC fans are crying. You know, USC lyndale white yet Reggie Bush. But Adrian Peterson said, that's where he was going to didn't go to Oklahoma, but he wanted to go to Texas and he wasn't guaranteed playing time as freshmen. So Mack Brown, like Cedric Benson and rightfully so Cedric bench and was a very good running back, probably had seventeen hundred yards that year, but decided that he was going to go to Oklahoma. I was going to get into a little greater detail about voting for Adrian Peterson, you know, pulling. That's where I nearly got into the fight with Craig Sager, Craig Sager Heisman, Adrian Peterson, fight at the Cleveland or in Miami. That's that was what it was about legendary thirty. And I said to Segler, hey, you know, until you start voting for freshmen and sophomores in all the award is flawed. And he was like, Sager was really big with the Heisman folks, and you know, he was very proud to be a voter, and I'd love to vote and I'd be vote. I said, Adrian Peterson should win the Heisman. And Sager we went back and forth, and that's where we almost we almost through punches over Adrian Peterson, you're not exaggerating and not paper. I would've thought you over Sager any day of the week, but sater's big dude. He was, yeah, he's six, five, six, five and probably two hundred and twenty five pounds and good. You were about fifteen pounds every time a little more base. Straffing. You could move out of and Sager was more athletic than sicker. Yeah. But if if he went ground upon on, yeah, yeah. I mean, I think I had an opening and that was it like I would have probably I probably would have been Rondo. To his Chris Paul, I think so. Spent? No, I would. I'm out of whatever it would take to win the fight. I would have done it if you got in a fight and it was like in the social media era where everyone pulls out there phone. No, you know his fuchsia jacket is all torn up now. Well, he wasn't wearing clothes like that back. Oh, no. I mean, Sager did Hamson bad sportcoats, but then they became cool because they were bad. Recipe sakes, but I wanted to pop you that night over Adrian Peterson, being out for the Heiser, hey, when I take a stand, I take a stand or something silly. That cigarette spotting back to me. All right. Sick, Denver Broncos have released their quarterback. Chad, Kelly, following Tuesday's arrests for trespassing, and according to sources, this is in Rappaport reporting prior to the arrest, Kelly was involved in a physical altercation. A couple of them with a guest von Miller party and with hired security. He was escort out of the party. Then he ends up in somebody else's apartment and I guess they were using vacuum cleaner to hit him to get him out of there and he wasn't drinking. I don't think I don't think his blood alcohol showed any out, said that in the police report, we'll see when the whole store well, something in his system, and he was already given a great opportunity here and there had been word inside the organization that they were going to give him some some plain time here. And you know, Jim Kelly vouch for him and said to John Elway, take, you know, pick him. Take a chance on. He was Mr. relevant, I believe. And now he's been released Mike in California joins us, Mike, what do you have for me today? Damn such an honor. Oh, my goodness. I can't believe him on the show. Are you doing good, Mike? What do you have for me today? Listen, real quick things on the Lakers. Okay. Get to rock though. Did you see the basketball love story? Jerry West said, the saddest moment of his life was when he wanted to title and seventy two because Elgin wasn't on the team Elliott had to retire. No, I wasn't tribal. I've watched a lot of that and I encourage people watch it..
"adrian peterson" Discussed on Marty Smith's America The Podcast
"It will air sometime around opening night for the NBA and we got into the impact the importance of Seattle as a basketball town and what Kevin remembers about his year there. Brianna, of course, delivering a championship to that town and their mutual respect for one another as players and as people and as friends and Kevin's on yielding push to promote the women's game. They have a huge collective bargaining agreement negotiation coming up in the women's game, and I chatted at length with brianna. And with Kevin about what that should look like. A really fascinating conversation and their respective ceilings as players. I asked both of them about their friend in what? Because you know, it's hard to ask somebody, hey, man, how good can you be? Well, that people don't like answer that they don't really know. So it's fun to ask their peer in their friend. What that answer might be. It was just such a fulfilling conversation, and I was so blessed to get to have it. So thanks to both of them and I just can't wait for you guys to see it. I'll just never Travis. I say often mountain ever get used to having the opportunity to spend that kind of time with these people, whether that's Adrian Peterson on the Marty Smith's America podcast, whether that's Kevin Durant and brianna Stewart for television, or you know, these football coaches that that McGee and I get to interview on Martin McGee every week. It's just always look at it through a fan. Dan prism always look at it through a little boy in nowhere, Virginia own a cattle farm prism and I just can't get used to it. Man, always so humbled in the aftermath that they would even spend that time. So it's killer man, a hesitate to say those things because like I don't. I don't wanna say it. "You know, he's a sixteen year old young man, and he's not interested in going to practice in his father finds out about it from Jay. Mail from prison and calls up his son and says, get your butt to practice your special. You are special at this and they can give you a better life. And fortunately, we've all been benefactors of seeing him perform because I love that bullish running style. I just love it and it was fun to learn how where came from back to his dad. Hey, here's this ball you to run into each other. And let's see what happens out of love all that stuff. And thinking about this, he had the season where he blew his knee out, came back and did what he did like that doesn't happen. The most athletes can't do that. Adrian Peterson makes it look. And now when people are there, we think they're going to come back and be greater because of Adrian did not only that you're right. I mean he did. He certainly rewrote the definition of what an ACL tear was the aftermath of it. But at the same time you look at this season right now. Travis people thought he was done. People said he was done all. He has been tearing it up for the Washington Redskins this year. He's one of those athletes just don't. You don't tell me, can't do something now. No, total freak man, total freak athletically. And again, my hope is that we get another opportunity to chat with him because it was very fulfilling for both of us and I'm not done have more that I wanna ask him. So that was cool. And like I say, I spent. My weekend and Seattle, Washington, interviewing Kevin Durant and brianna Stewart, two of the best basketball players on the planet. Right now, I played horse with them and that was really stupid. My jump shot has never been the strongest part of my game. But man I was I was balling, I was shooting. Well, I mean, I shot ball with k. d. for a long time before the interview began and I was doing well, well, then the camera's turned on after the interview when we were actually taping us playing horse and Travis, I got, I don't know if it was stage fright Cam, the lice got too big for me. I'm not sure what shot got tight brother would coach Savin be upset with you. Coach saving would clown me so hoard brianna, and Kevin, we're giving me a pretty good time about it too, but there were so many enlightening moments while I was chatting with these two because it was kind of less about ball and more about their friendship and their as in a love this. This meant so much to me that they said this to me that their success on the court really gave them self confidence in life. That because they both been so successful in the basketball floor that it that it infused them with self confidence as human beings, and that I feel like that is so true. That is the case in my life. Certainly when I'm the most confident me as a human being win, I'm proud of what I'm doing professionally. And I've always said, I've said for years, I don't want this job to define me as a man, but as a man, we think, I think a lot of guys really struggle with not letting their profession become their identity. I go round and round about that. And one thing that I learned her in the interview I had I had gotten wind right before the interview started that during Kevin's thirtieth birthday party. He had his thirtieth birthday last week, had a big party in New York City to celebrate. And during that party, one of his friends had called several of their other mutual friends who have a claim in the sporting and entertainment worlds and ask them to tape, happy birthday messages to Kevin the, and then he decided to play that video at the party. One of those folks was the forty fourth president of the United States Barack Obama, and I found out about this just before the interview. Well, of course, I had to ask about it, right? Travis. I had to why I've gotta cross how when you like we reach out to people usually have their phone number eight..

"Hey, all welcome to the Marty Smith's America, podcasts, volume thirty, probably here a little bit under the weather, all the way across the country to Seattle, Washington, last Thursday to interview Kevin Durant and brianna Stewart to the best basketball players on the planet. And while I was in Seattle, it was cold and rainy and those are very long flights, and I had a bunch of beers after the warriors kings game on Friday night. So some of this could be self inflicted, I don't know, but came home with a really froggy voice and a head full of yucky stuff. So working through that. So bear with me, we have an amazing show in show thirty what an honor to get to interview. Adrian Peterson, one of the greatest NFL football. All players of all time and guy that I've long in mired. I've always loved his bullish running style, and I get into that with him in this interview. I wish I could have had more time with all day. He was gracious enough to join me after practice one day and spend what Travis, maybe twenty minutes, something like that. He was with us for twenty four minutes, twenty four minutes. Appreciate that because I was supposed to only take fifteen, and he was just really insightful about a lot of things, but there was so much more that I wanted to get to. So hopefully someday maybe we'll be able to hit him up and get a second part of this. But I know you'll find it to be fascinating. He's a really interesting dude, and he's even more interesting to me now that I had that twenty four minutes with him than he was before and you're gonna love it. So I can't wait for you guys to hear my my wide ranging interview here with Adrian.
