"Hey Welcome to the show Adrian Haley back in the big chair lots of talking points to get to on this Friday sid lowe be joining us in a little bit to dissect what was a remarkable week in the life of FC boss alone. But before that, let's start in the Premier League let's start with this three trio we have if you're building a five citation, this would be some spivey stevie Nicole Frank Leboeuf and Yana fueled off all the way down the Middle Gen. Sir let's start in the premier league. What happened on Friday night wolves winning against crystal pilots that Achy puts them into a tie at the top with Everton and Liverpool. Same Point Spine gold difference. Obviously Everton unlivable still to play but very comfortable win. For Wolves Against Palace goes from ignore the and from potent stevie start with you wolves for real they genuine top four contenders. Wolves. For Real I think we knew that already. The last couple of seasons. divisively given us hope that they could maybe break in. Two that taught four but the definitely contenders top four I'm not sure I'm ready put money on them. Today push some lovely flow in football. Got Two goals and create more chances. Buzzer said does really WANNA and deservedly up up near the top of the table and frankly after another French fullback you his goal for the club as well. I know you are you buying what they're selling it Molin you oh yes. I mean I was very impressed really last season. This isn't an again doing great and very well-balanced and. That was on top of it no buying full-back having his first game I. Think he's only twenty not even twenty and scoring his first goal. You can feel that the club is like a family and you could see that he had no stress and was already A. Adopted by the others. So we had the big Portugese legend, but it's it's nice to see what we're onto playing like. UC Some clubs not involved. Not Pretending to be the top club in the in England doing great playing. Great like I saw some last last weekend. They did go forward to try the experiment well and the been success successful story. So far and Enjoy enjoy the game that I su- today. crystallised tried to exist the beginning of second half but. Renton was so. Above them technically physically and tactically, and they deserve to win again because of the balance the should end the way they played fantastic I loved it and yeah, we've already talked a lot about how topsy turvy this year in the premier. League is beat as it being the wolves or club light wolves can. Can Be there at the end. I don't think they will stick at the top four but I agree with the to voice their famous boys ahead of me about what I said about the the team there is something about me there's something bubble ramp Nabi working at three four times, Comey there as as guest Joan Liz a great place to come to, and there's something about this that I impressed by English football league, they can have fallen owners, forum managers, foreign players, but still that atmosphere family family club historical traditional club, and manage to do their way. I'm impressed by the manager I don't like less likely said, he doesn't try to do something else down very honest in their approach. Some great. You'd fulfill his intellect nervous and so good striking force going full is a team that is joy able to watching is also a team although they also spent some money. "Walk into this special. Espn F Z. Podcast next season. We'll see the first campaign of Austin. Fc IN MLS CLOUDIER. Rain will be charged with putting that team together as sporting director Joss. Meanwhile a head coach of the new franchise both sat down with Adrian. Haley to talk about. That plans woke him in everyone. In Times of great uncertainty. It's good to look forward isn't it? Then what we can tell you for sure is that when MLS season twenty twenty one begins team number twenty seven in MLS will be Austin F. See what we can also tell you. That team will have been built in the most part by the two gentlemen who join me now. Cloudy arena the sporting director and Josh. Wolff the head coach. Thanks very much guys for taking the time And we're going to take quite a deep dive into what's going on with Austin and future plans but before we do that first of all how. How how you both doing personally with with all the craziness Joshua no Austin still a relatively new city for you and your family has it been. It's been okay I think Obviously there's a big pause and what's going on and obviously safety is. The is the first for everything in a I think. Normalcy is is going to slowly get integrated certainly here in Texas. The thing had taken some things away as ours allowing people back out in smaller groups and social settings but You know it's good weather so for me for kids it's important That we were able to get outside bike. Rides Walks basketball. But you know it's been it's been a couple of months and it's kind of you know it. It gets difficult dominance. It's been manageable certainly from that standpoint in cloudier. Oyo kind of inbetween. Y'All can Austin amendment. How's how's it been for you? It's been it's been okay. I'm in New York and been here since with my family Geos in Germany. So that's the only unknown for for the families. Can we see him napster? Maybe see him play but with a lot of family time just trying to you. Know Look at look at life a little bit different now that we have more time and yet to do things you probably want more hectic it can't do so able to take that opportunity You but it certainly you know. Unprecedented what we're going through and you know trying to think ahead as as we build a team but also the next month the next three months. It's difficult right now. So you have to modify everything right. Now Be Ready. Ba- fluid And really hope that everyone gets healthy and that we get back to normal ways expansion is kind of a unique thing in will football. Isn't it the chance to really start a blank piece of paper and build a team from scratch? I I can't think of another league which happens. You guys have both been through it before in different roles just wanted to. Maybe I'm curious to find out what he took from from those experiences. Joshua style as a as a player if a young player getting drafted into that legendary ninety eight five team. Anything you take from those years to bring bring with you to Austin. Yeah it's more. I mean I think obviously that you have time to reflect on added as a player going through your very much looking at it through your own Lens and and how you can establish yourself on team and become part of a collective unit and looking back and how. That team was assembled in the staff on the players. The dynamic within the group. I think the very important influential things in a a manager. That was a teacher with Bob Bradley. And then now players that were very diverse from all over the country but as well as all over the world. I think that's reflective of still today. How you build a teen and you know. I was fortunate to be surrounded by great players in great coaches enhanced my development and You know obviously it was a fantastic team that got great success that first inaugural season one. That's looked back on. Finally so I I look at that as something certainly to take to take solace in but also a good reference point Claudio. What are you able to draw upon in terms of things that maybe did work things that maybe didn't work in in your experience going for all of this just a few years ago with with New York City? Yeah there were so many learnings from my time in an amazing experience Going through building it from scratch. And they're all they're all unique in what we did such a short period. We had a very short runway from the team was announced to when we started playing in. Twenty fifteen and so you know. There were different set of rules than they are today in terms of investment So you know it was. It was definitely a challenge but we laid a foundation. I think that was the most important thing with a with a a culture You know an style of play that to us was important that got better each year after that For seasons you know you could see from the academy up to the first team. That club coming together Connected with the families as well but New York City's very unique as you know in terms of you know the size of the city and making sure we could penetrate as a club And and that's that was part of the decision bringing some some big name players that were fantastic for the locker room and and really to this day of left their legacy in that way the champions with pure lampert and And that now that's changed a little bit but it's laid a good foundation but so many things to learn everyday you learn something and the other other clubs as well if done it a little bit different But it's it's going to be unique to Austin that's what we have to. That's one thing I've learned is you Austin's unique as a city as an opportunity Geographically the demographics as well are are exciting for us to start a team. It's going to be unlike New York who we are one of eleven professional sports teams. We're going to be the first and only major professional sports team so huge opportunity there. That certainly Josh and I have sent since since being there as you say. Cloudy Austin does seem to be very unique and in in in so many different regards. Josh. What's Your. What's your impression of the city? So how'd you go about building a team to perhaps represent the the DNA event city? Yeah it's it's it's a great city. I think having got here in December and spent some time living a little bit downtown more and the hotel life but being down in the city gives you a little perspective and then obviously living out new stadium is the domain gives another perspective so it's good to see what what Austin provides in all these areas. East Austin has its own appeal. The West West Hills has its own appeal so for me. That's allowed me to see a little more perspective on just city geographically speaking landscape speaking. It's nice and the people themselves it's it's it's a. It's a thirsty community for soccer. It's it's it's certainly shown that it's very supportive of the game and it's very diverse inclusive community young obviously very driven by by the technology side. But as you mentioned there waiting for a team to buy into obviously there is no professional team in the market. There's there's a a large university but this is a transient city as well. A lot of lot of people moving into the city from California especially obviously New York as well but looking for something to grab hold that that will be their own. That's not already established so it's a great opportunity for us and I think that's what we're looking at how the organization and have real contact with our community where they can help drive home our message but but obviously be massive supporters of of our project. Now you guys were. Teammates says plates onto to World Cup teams to the US. Men's national team. Both offline offensively oriented place. I think it's fair to say you created when it comes to thinking about the game and and style of play a footballing philosophies said did you guys see the game the same way in and what happens when you don't need. I mean we do see it the same way. I'll be briefing Josh. Answer it more but you know I think yeah absolutely. There's a lot of It's it's how you get. There is is different but we do believe in having the ball creating space you know. We have the ball players concert on the ball throughout versatility and players who can score from different areas of the field. You Know Young dynamic type team and and again and how you get theirs is where Josh. At his his ideas his his work with his staff as we grow and teaching every this message so But we do see at the same we were. You know at a previous of places In clubs really valued in teams possession and controlling the ball and and. That's something that we bring from there as well that we believe in Yeah I think that's right. I mean obviously Claude it was an NYC and and you know the way they played the consistency their their commitment to that ways is really relevant. And that's that's the way the surrounding environment that I've been and that's what I look forward to trying to provide in Columbus and certainly the with the national team though. That's that's what you were trying to build. That's how you're trying to teach it every day and he tried to illustrate not only on the field but with presentations with everything that you're looking for as far as presenting the game to the players and it's not easy. It's it's a way of understanding what you want. Your what your identity to be the way that the methodology will lineup ultimately how you go about teaching it every day to give those players confidence and understanding of what their role is within that game model. And it's easier said than done. And and obviously there's a few teams that do it really well and and that's what we WANNA do. Establish an identity. We wanted to be something that players are proud of the community's proud of and it's about scoring goals in it's about being attractive in exciting and that's what we strive to do and have that consistency built in and You know we're a long ways from having a team but those are the things that we look for in and try to build our staff and players around going forward this game's all about opinions guys and moving forward getting down to grind level when it comes to signing players. How you guys GonNa work for any potential disagreements replace Discussions all the time. And there's a lot of You know variables around from obviously the you know rosters and salary that you know we. We have been work too but I think I think we`ll. We'll have a lot of good options of a good scouting network that we're going to build and we've already developed and I think he you learn That you may lose some We have to have you know. Believe that you'll you'll sign the next Player at the right amount But now it's something we'll speak about all the time and both really you know the way I've always worked is coaching and sporting director. Feel really comfortable together or else. It's there's no point in doing it. So what will have these conversations Especially this year. Since we're we're not Playing Josh's is on the field will be able to spend a lot of time at this and we already are. Yeah so guys in terms of the initial plan of action for for building this new team. How much is that had to change given the current situation and and moving forward with all the unknowns we have how much might change yet from what you initially thought would be the plan. I think I think the the competition and when it gets going again is very important but certainly you know we've learned that we have to adapt and be prepared for whatever comes But certainly the first thing is is when the players that we need to look are back playing again because according to discuss the player. So you know. We're all desperate just to watch soccer again. for for the fun of it For the for the joy but also you know to to to scout players and that's the first thing that we're waiting for him from then when we have that that structure in place of competition domestically and around the world You know we'll be able to understand For us for example when when the transfer window will be reset again is that's going to happen. when expansion draft date is and so on and so forth so we have to be a little bit fluid because You know we're just not showing the competition is GonNa get up and running so I guess that's the most important and then from there we can start hitting some targets and you know whether it's signing player this year and loaning a player out somewhere but again when his expansion draft and when we started preseason well because that's an important part of our ending as well. It is your phone ringing as much justice at bringing even more given what we're going for. No I think you do get you do get a lot of emails. Hung just as far as quality of saying with with players and potential potential options..

Look it yes. I thought and we came from the Portuguese camp. The everything was fine with him. He had no injury problems and he played well. He scored a hat trick. He he's involved in most of the things. He had a good game and he was taken after eighty five minutes to a standing ovation but he went past people with the boy. Got Lots of shots. Any looked dangerous in the air. Aided everything you expect Cristiano Renaldo to do. But that hasn't been the case in the last few games where he's been off the pace when booze of come into soon. He's lost possession when he tried to go. Passive with the ball is lost position again. He hasn't looked quite such a threat. The crowd of started to get onto him so it looks like he's lost a bit of confidence and I I wouldn't say look at one hundred percent fit when he's playing for your venter's but that wasn't the case tonight. "There is plenty of speculation that area on rain could becoming into coach them. Of course, he had a somewhat rocky time at Monica when he took over that. What do you make this this decision? If it goes ahead, just tell us a little bit about what happened in Monica because it was unmitigated disaster. Wasn't it this doubles the disaster in the way that I think Kyrie or ecoed saw the problem the Monaco prime money's on. If I recall properly on blow and did a show when the to or some some clubs at the first beginning, they are assistant coaches was big experiences, which wasn't the case for for cheery. And that was he's made mistakes for me. And I think it's a good thing. If it goes to regularly knows the club the philosophy of the club. But of course, we're not in the same level, and we can find in Europe. So I think it's a as as a Patrick Vieira did with mentioned city before mention what he was in Michigan city came to New York work hard to become a better caution. Does very well in this and be able to to cope with all situation with the experience that you got in in the states. And I think it would be the same for cherry. It was interesting. Adrian Haley tweeting out saying this would be an absolute disaster. I will defend to history of mental league soccer, which is nine. I think it's a classic case of them. Just going down the big name again, as you know, for somebody who's been in New York so ended there they can't really go out and buy players because of this system the particularly good site at the moment, and he comes off the back of a horrendous time at Monaco. So I don't know if they find fair. Yeah. Then go down the Tyrian rear fencing coach in front d-. Do I ever? Compostion? You know, I love Righetti was starting all backing him up.
