"Phil. Welcome in studio, were you You know you're welcome. Were you living in Queens? When 9 11 happened? Were you working? What were you doing s o. I'm from born and raised in Queens have mentioned it here on the show. Don't hold it against me. So what? I was going to school out on Long Island. Ah, in Nassau County, which isn't too far from Queens. It's if you're familiar with the New York City. It's probably about Adelphi University is probably about 40. Miles from ground zero s o the way in the way those events unfolded for me was I was living on campus. I was going to pick up my girlfriend at the time. Who was ah, a commuter. She went to school thing, and she lived in a nearby suburb Rockville Center. So I went picked her up. Her dad worked for Cantor Fitzgerald, which is ah Finance company who was basically housed in the World Trade Center. So I picked her up. We had 8 15 class. We were on our way back to school. When, surprisingly, we heard the news on We were listening to Howard Stern. He broke the news. So heck is going on. Nobody really knew what was going on. So then we circled back and we went back to her house. Way hadn't heard from Ralph that That was her dad's name. He had gone in early that day. He was up for a promotion. Um, and we never heard from him again. It was awful ripped that family apart. So getting back to that day, though, I then you know all the phones went down, especially in the New York City area. My town was hit pretty hard. I then had to make my way back to my mom's house in Queens. I left my car on the side of the aisle. I e. Because traffic was jam packed. As you can imagine everybody getting out of the city and some people trying to from Long Island get into the city to help. So you had to leave in and walk. I walked to my house. Yeah, which was about a couple of miles from where I left my car. I could smell the smoke because my mom's house in Queens was only about 12 Miles. From ground zero on DH At this point, we're still kind of trying to figure out what the heck happened. We didn't know who attacked us. It was all kind of unfolding and I remember getting to my mom's house and you know she was okay. Everybody on my block was okay. Kind of that pocket of Queens is really tight. A lot of cops A lot of firefighters way eventually found out that we lost about 14 people. While my little pocket of Queens a guy that lived.

"The oral becomes written by the poet himself and written. It should be added by his right hand worked by his left hemisphere. The muses have become imaginary and invoked in their silence. As a part of man's nostalgia. For the bi-cameral mind that is gorgeous. And the whole book is this filled with average is like that that are just beautifully written. And and just really drive home often emotionally the subject matter. That's another reason. I guess I gotta be skeptical and suspicious of this hypothesis is that it's so well written like, I need to be especially cautious about it. Like, he he communicates it so well, and it's so beautiful and the book that that it's like getting an unfair advantage as a scientific hypothesis. Yeah. Yeah. I can definitely get that argument. Maybe that's why most scientific papers are so horrible to read like why you know. It's really rare. You come across the one. That's really well. Well, well written and it's because well, maybe maybe you shouldn't let your writing skills. Make it stand out more than the theory itself deserves in terms of content. All right. Well, what's another lingering example of of the bicameral mind? Hey, can you think of a state in which people have altered consciousness or reduced consciousness and tendency to obey verbal commands who sounds a lot like hypnosis to me? Ding, ding, ding. There you go. Now, we've talked about hypnosis on the podcast before. But just to reiterate what's going on with hypnosis. People seem to have wildly differing levels of susceptibility to hypnosis some people just can't be hypnotized, but for those that can hypnosis does seem to be a genuine altered state of consciousness at some level in which the body's relaxed focuses narrowed inhibition is lowered consciousnesses reduced and verbal obedience is increased sounds kinda like the model of bicameral with a lot of these public demonstrations of hypnosis that you see, you know, you're on a cruise ship and somebody's doing a show. I think people following the hypnotists commands is not necessarily always a highly altered state of consciousness it could be partially. Just a performance brought on by social pressure. But this is actually part of Jane's theory. He talks about the idea of collective cognitive imperative group pressure enables, different states of mind. And this is why you can have a basically a culture dictating. Which mindset you adopt, the bi-cameral mindset or the conscious mind said, and it's also the reason that you can through these elaborate rituals say like the oracle Adelphi produce, these these amazing, you know, metered prophecies out of your right brain because group cognitive pressure is putting you into that mindset. And so he saying hypnosis may be maybe in fact, a modern reapproach summation of the left brain operation of a bike emerald person. But instead of having the right brain talk, you're having the hypnotists talk again, this makes me think of yoga classes, where I just let the individual tell me what to do for an hour and a half, and it feels so liberated now. Another big area that the Jane spends a lot of time with is the condition of schizophrenia. Now, this is obviously going to be very relevant because it one of the features of schizophrenia is hallucinations, especially auditory, hallucinations. Yeah. It is a condition defined by voices by auditory hallucination voices. The criticize voices that tell us what to do it. We with under the tent of the bicameral mind hypothesis, it would seem to line up pretty well. And and so James argues that schizophrenia is essentially a relapse into the bicameral mind. Wow. Now, he argues it in the sculptures, literature, murals and other artifacts of the gray by bi-cameral civilizations. We do not see instances of individuals who suffer madness in a way that differentiates them from their fellow humans. There's idiocy, but but he says there's no madness..

And just as we know that looked tell money reader used to be the one for money invitation, and I used to love that so much, but a lot of you pobably have noticed that his coming gone and his bare replaced by company. No, skips updated frequently depending which countries you live in and there's updates for it. And once new Bill comes out, it can't read it. So this one is unique which I there's a couple of things I like about this particular cash reader what it does for one. It does not require internet access, which is kinda cool. So this will work offline so if you have a poor or not around a wifi connection or if you not around a cell reception. Very good say you're inside the store this baby will read the catch with and without any data. Also, would I really like about this is that it will do silent mode which I count like that quite a bit. You can't I don't see that with other cash addenda fire apps like this. One. So it will if it detects a certain denomination. It will vibrate the foam. Yeah, it's pretty cool. So let me show you give examples here. I'll show you through the app itself is.

"And none of them worked and you need to keep trying i do that's a thing is it's a preview this is this is not goule ends as a finished product is very clearly says all over the place of this is google lens preview and the whole point of the preview program especially to the pixel owners who have had it for the longest is to feed google's image recognition system more information so that it becomes more accurate over time like i get that i remember talking with someone from invidia invidia demo to thing i don't know if it was last year the year before where they're that uses a camera could adelphi all kinds of stuff just by seeing in real life or through a picture and i remember talking with somebody from invidia they had people sit down for a year and feed this information one piece at a time to the computers so the service can learn this stuff google's depending on us to do a lot of that and we have to use it for to get better it's like a system it's also it's also super early days for most people like i say i've been using google for six months because lens came out as a very early beta as a part of the pixel but it didn't actually roll out to every android phone and the iphone in in google photos until last month right so most people have only have access to this for a month and i don't i don't know it's not something i see you're here a lot of people use.
