"Do you think one of the things that kind of stuck out to me is that it almost feels like the mavericks are kinda caught between two eras here right. You've got the power structure. That's been there for years. And years. Donnie nelson and rick carlisle. They won the only title and mads history with the biggest superstar and mavs history and dirk nowitzki. Now we've got the next big math superstar and luka doncic that things have changed in the front office bringing in analytic guy like harlow bob. So i'm kind of wondering like how does dirk fit into with us at this point because you mentioned peace that luca kinda angled to get to dallas on. He has a relationship with dirk honestly. Dirk was in a lot of the same scenarios that was in right early in his career. Had some playoff disappointments at took a long time till they finally got that title. Two thousand eleven in today's day and age wouldn't be surprising to see a dirk nowitzki like character. The luca want to leave after. This is dirk in luke ear at all being like look man. That's tough but you're still early in your career. You haven't signed your second deal even yet. There's a lot of time in front of you here or is he kind of like. Hey man it worked out for me. I'm not exactly sure of if things are the same in two thousand twenty one as they were in twenty eleven. The league changed a lot. How is luca dirks relationship going to factor into all this. it's definitely a factor in lucas. Feels about dallas. You know that's something put in the story and and it's something that i truly believe in have been told that that luca does feel good about this franchise. He has a lot of goodwill. Obviously there are specific relationships that he has people in the team That that needs to improve or need to be managed or or dealt with in a way that you know doesn't upset him or continue to frustrate him. But i do think dirk is is a is a great factor. I think it's too soon to think that you know dirk is in his ear about what to do next or patients or anything like that you know. Luca is a happy know he is satisfied. He wants to win you know. He's not happy with losing. He's never been and you know this is but he's preparing to sign a supermax contract. I don't even think. There's i didn't report this in the story and for good reason i don't as far as i know i don't believe in sources say this is not at all what he's trying to do. He's not trying to leverage. You know his power you know. He's obviously a person that the the team thinks and frames every decision around But you know if he had been personally wanting to kind of play play power game self like why would he say that he was just going to sign the extension on at the exit interview and be like know somebody asked him. He said. I think you know what the answer is in. Did it with a smile and you know it wasn't a situation where he's like. We'll see we'll see then. Then you come to mark and mark cuban and talk. You know like. I want this. I want this player. I went this person gone. I want this person as my coach etc. So i don't think that's what he's trying to do. I don't think that's the situation. He's in but as it relates to dirk. There's only one derek measuring people. The dirk is is not the. It's it's impossible you know. That's that's not a standard you know. That's a standard he's set in a different plateau or a different reality that that it just isn't realistic to expect players to want to emulate or model and so we're dirk was patient and we're dirk was someone who waited I think just the reality of any superstar luca or not. They'll look at situations and if they're not satisfied with the amount of winning With their team Or with the parachutes are struggling around them. That they have to deal with constantly. Those are things that will frustrate him and they know that they're able to move on to situations that they'll appreciate an enjoy better. Well it's a fantastic article. You sam put together here tim. It's called inside the mavericks front office. Mark cuban's shadow. Gm causing a rift with luka doncic again headline ma spot on mazing and then the words even better tim. What's the easiest way for people to get in touch with you to talk to you to ask you questions. Baby about article. I assume by way twitter is that right. Yeah that's a twitter is probably easiest. I think that's the one. I've got open deums people in tweet me. I'm tim underscore kato. So follow me there. I'd like to see some of those open. Dm's right now chose if you angry ones that have come your way to in the last day. A reply to those go. Thank you so much for swing a by on such short notice We really appreciate it. I've also heard you on like three or four other podcasts. And you're bringing it on every single one so thank you. Thank you guys all right. take care. tim fantastic. Go check that out. Go to the athletic dot com slash. No dunks if you don't have yourself in athletic subscription and read that article and then well then you've got an a subscription you can read all the articles that you have over at the athletic especially in the nba world that we focus on had some news. That guy's bear ben simmons both unanimous selections to the nba's all defensive first team for the twenty twenty one season they were joined by draymond green and y- honest forward as well as drew holidays around the back. Court all defensive. Second team was led by bam adebayo and leonard as your forwards dwell a beat as the big man in the middle. And then jimmy butler and matisse stibal as the two guards and i will. I'll throw this up there done it while i was talking there. But there's a look for everybody in the stream team and joining us live or a little bit later on youtube so you can look at the numbers you can dissect them task. Does anything jump boat you. Do you think the voters didn't okay job any questions with this and i guess you can get into emissions to if you're really upset but what do you think about the all defensive teams sexy names really big big names here on these all defensive squats i if you look up and down i think that's what jumps out to me. I a lot of big names. And i guess i think it's a really really really well done voting job you can you can parse i think jimmy butler although he has the name again. I think there's a lot of name recognition here. I think michelle. Bridges may have done a better job. This season in terms of games played because jimmy miss some time and bit a better defensive player this year. But you know you're asking voters to really do a lot of work to really understand. Who was the better defensive player this year. So i think yeah. I think that would be my one rewrite. Even though taste i didn't play ton and in terms of minutes played on the lower end of the spectrum guys who've made it historically he still so so so so so good in already developed a name in those minutes. He is a stoically. Good so i think he is entirely find. Okay lee any problems with these two. All defensive teams we got really good representation from teams from the box from the heat and three. Sorry to three from the sixers. Yes so if you've got a good defensive team we've got a lot of good defensive plays in there. I just like the fact that five internationals as well and to australians qualifies for australia there so this was one of those ones where it was like. Man they voted seem to have gotten it pretty accurately. I agree. I thought jimmy butler probably got in on reputation. As i just didn't think he played enough this season. That's the same with colli to see. i think so. I think defensive player of the year. He's quashed like window he decides to is no one of the best but he does seem to go through a lot of the season. Just like i'm not going to be all defensive lennon tonight but when he does lucky and fisher siwa. Yeah i really didn't have any complaints are well-chosen they're just great to see semih with the with the unanimous peak. Because he was probably he did finish runner up actually. didn't he. For defensive player the show great to see some any observations with these teams trae. I know you're not you hate defense. I feel like asking. No i need to stick up for the small markets. Here the lakers and the knicks don't have any players on these all defense teams. These are two top five defenses. Nobody's showing up basically in any of the voting just thought that's kind of unusual but that probably just helps a tom video or a frank vogel coach of the year. Kind of case right getting everybody on the same page and obviously anthony. Davis probably would have made an all defense team if he played a little bit more. The other take away from this..

Shopping for the Web
"This season. We've been unpacking the longest year in tech history. Nineteen ninety five. The year our future began so much started in that time but few changes were more consequential than the advent of online shopping. In just a couple of decades it's grown from a handful of startups to a team of goliaths and we couldn't live without them. But as we'll see the dominance of certain online shops is only partly due to brilliant business maneuvers. David shaw adebayo's and a few others to look into this newfangled internet thing see what kind of opportunities were there. So jeff and other people looked at various product categories. In of all things books rose to the top as the most obvious product category. Why books

What Went Wrong With Cyberpunk 2077?
"Sarah twenty. Seventy seven was twenty. Twenty s hottest. Game in shaping up to be a good enough launch when reviews for the pc version began trickling out a few days before december. Twelve release date but once players got their hands on syrup. Twenty seventy seven especially the. Ps four and xbox one versions excitement turned into frustration as players encountered bugs glitches in more in a report from bloomberg's jason schreier developers. That city project red knew the game was not ready for launch in two thousand twenty according developer quote. They expected the game to you. Ready in twenty twenty. Two based on the progress team was making back in two thousand nineteen beyond just bugs and glitches. Sarah sarah overall performance in playability on consoles like the base. Ps four and xbox one reviled. I gave the concert versions of cyberpunk twenty seventy seven specifically a four in its review. One hurdle was that the developers tried to develop the engine and game simultaneously decision. One developer cyberpunk says was like quote trying to drive a train while the tracks are being laid in front of you at the same time. According to bloomberg. Sarah punk twenty-seven versions not the version have been hammered by players for for glitches and bugs. Some bugs which are game raking and ended up crashing the entire game or sometimes the system is being played on and we'll put a pause there because also acknowledge the pc version does have its fisher. Bugs also but the conservation is definitely have way more issues in the pc version back to the article developers seemingly pushed through challenges by believing they could overcome these obstacles themselves. Similar to the infamous. By where magic but sarah punk twenty seventy seven was developed through periods of intense crunch and a follow up to follow a tweet shire claims that despite promises from management that crunch would not be required. Some managers guilty employees into working more hours by saying other employees will work longer to pick up the slack. Salaries were also reportedly low with one junior programmer. Making around seven hundred dollars a month as for why early previews of cyberpunk twenty seventy seven demo to the public at events like e. three twenty nineteen look better than the final product. That's because the demo was entirely fake. According to the report neither code nor the gameplay was finalized when the demo was made in months spent working on a fake demo took away from developing the full game schrafft's report also references things like cultural challenges caused by language barriers There's this whole double dip release strategy that the studio wanted to go for where The game officers meant to come out in spring The reason why one reason why they wanted to come out. Spring was so that they could release on current. I guess now last gen consoles and then released again on next gen consoles and have that double dip having both those console versions out obviously game got delayed and so that didn't happen happen. The exact way they wanted to even though we still have next inversions coming scheduled later this year and then another thing that stri- report references and the fact that the game was announced in two thousand twelve but apparently full development didn't start until late two thousand sixteen. Tim where do you stand with all this. I mean look at this point. where do i stand with. Like one of the most complicated. Just like there's so many different facets that go into this right like at the end of the day. I stand against the project red and how this all went down like we. How many times do we need to say like this game should not have been released the way that it was just period outing times. Do we need to say that. Like crunch is bad and we need to fix all this stuff. All this is to me. Is we being now in. Twenty twenty one firmly in twenty twenty one developers. Publishers media outlets. Everybody they need to open their eyes to start paying a little bit more attention. Because if you make these mistakes constantly you do not change. You do not fix. Despite the countless flags that have went up for the last decade specifically the last couple of years. Jason is gonna get you. Jason tries to get in there and exposed the living. Fuck out of you and your the entire team and that it hits a point where there is no recovering from that. So it's like that fear alone should probably motivate you to make some changes on top of the you know human decency side of the whole thing right but this is inevitable. Of course shire was going to get in there and of course he was going to talk to people and of course that's going to crap narrative that is extremely not favorable to cd project red. For good reason. They made a lot of very very very poor choices. Yeah now reading this report like a lot of it is not surprising just given the context of how everything's gone down right like seeing the the game delayed multiple times like from this bring into september from september and november and then from november into december. I think that paints a clear picture of okay. Yeah like we know. This thing isn't ready yet but we think we can get there. Okay no like. It's not ready but we we think we can get there with the next delay and that combined with the idea of okay. Yeah no we want to release twice so that we can double dip on consoles And them having to delay into basically the next generation was still have the current gen versions only available. I think that speaks to the fact that they they understood that they weren't ready And it's very much seems like a shit or get off the pot situation for them. All right yeah. We got to put this thing because if we don't like we're not gonna make the money on it and we can't keep people waiting we'll this game everybody be ready. I feel like those questions get asked overall. This feels like a tale of a studio thinking that because they put out a successful project that means that they can't have a fail and that is very evident that specific quote from Jason's article where he talks about. How like people were challenging the timeframe of sarah pumpkin whether or not they could get on time and somebody basically answered back. We'll figure it out along the way because he made the winter three and that is not an acceptable answer right like that shouldn't be cause for complacency. Because you put out incredible project. Five years ago i forget if i mentioned this in the actual article but like there was also the reference of how quickly the team grew after the witcher. Three like basically. The team doubled in size between the wichita. Three and cd project red and they didn't necessarily account for that. And so when you have a team that grows like that. And you don't your your company culture and your pipelines and your processes don't grow alongside that to allow for that For for that ease of growth. Then yeah you're gonna have issues like you can't you can't you can't operate like a big company but also still behave like the small indie company in that. Seems like a lot of what they're what they're doing. Which is unfortunate. Because that's result in sarah twenty seventy seven. Yeah absolutely you know the. I think most shocking thing to come from this are the implications. That three was fake. Like that to be something that i struggled to fully believe or fully. Get behind this on so much. Believe as budgets. Get behind that statement. Because it's like all demos or fake demos to some extent. And i feel like that's this to me is a perfect example of when it rains it pours and it's like when you make dire mistakes you're going to get called out and then you get exposed for every single thing To levels that you wouldn't necessarily be criticized and everything else right you know But anyways like yeah the the each. I definitely want to know more about of him implying. It's fake or not. We do have more context on that. Because adam consider not consistent adam oh no it. Is adam barsky. Yeah from cd project. Red actually responded on twitter. Quote tweeted jason with a whole response. I'm gonna pull from adam. Bankers with adam. Bankers did a good write up on it. From aegean the response goes like this. Adebayo adebayo the steam ahead of cd project. Red has responded to a recent report regarding cyberpunk twenty seventy seven alleged fake three demo and development issues while it's hard for a trade show game demo not to be a test of vision or vertical slice two years before the game ships. But that doesn't mean it's fake but ask you wrote. Compare the demo with the game. Look at the at the other side. They're dum dum dum dum. I'm not sure how that's pronounced. But look at the dumdum seen or the car chase or the many other things with the people reading your article may not know is that games are not made in a linear fashion and start looking like the final product. Only a few months after launch or a few months before launched if you look at that demo now is different. Yes but that's what the work in progress watermark is for. Our final game looks implies way better than than what the demo ever was as for missing features that's part of the creation process features features. Come and go as we see if they worker not also car bush's exist in the final game almost verbatim to what we showed in the in the demo.

Just tryingto take full advantage of walking. And you're wearing a very special jersey tonight, representing that franchises of the Black Mamba snake skin jerseys. You guys are undefeated in those Younis. Anthony told me, he said, We just feel like we can't lose their precious extra pressure. We cannot lose in these. Do you feel the same way? Well, it's always special to be able to represent someone that meant so much not only to the game, but obviously to the Lakers organization for 20, plus years and for us the honor him being on the floor. This is what it's all about, and you know We're thinking about Brian family, Vanessa and daughters. They're with us with the guys. We love you guys and hopefully we make, you know, make it been proud by wearing these uniforms tonight and throughout the course of the postseason LeBron James with our Rachel Nichols after his 21st career 30 Point game in the N B a Finals, Anthony Davis with 32 points. In the Wind. LeBron and Anthony Davis first Lakers teammates with 30 points in a finals game since Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal in 2002, Lakers hitting

"The court so which advantages Enjoy against the nuggets and will they translate against the heat? So. When I look at the Lakers I do think that you have to look at just the supporting cast and whether or not certain guys are going I. think it's really. I think. Our players like Rondo going to step up Caruso going to hit his open threes says Danny Green going to be able to defend ball handler and not like a turnstile and down spot up three's case ep going to be able to run the floor finish in transition press the ball ninety, four feet and. Impact the game in transition and hit open threes The way that he did in the finals I think that those are key factors i. Honestly. I know that you know everyone has been listening to. US throughout this entire playoff run we'll say that I've you know doubted the Lakers? I guess you could put it mildly that'd be a mild description of how I felt about them. You picked again against them at every turn. Michael And I think a huge part of that is. The supporting cast and the my trepidation to believe that they could generate enough offense and a half court setting and so far. They haven't really needed to generate offense and a half court setting. I think against Miami which is like I think Miami. Is the first real defense No disrespect to. actually, I guess all the disrespect to the rockets blazers. With this movement Michael 'cause I've been saying that for a long time no disrespect but disrespect I think that should just enter the lexicon. Let's not be afraid to disrespect every once in a while well, Denver you know I thought that their defense way earlier in the season two million years ago was getting to be at a near championship level because of their cohesion but like they just broke down on the first couple of rounds and they had good moments here and there and stretches but. Their defense is just in no way comparable to Miami's in my opinion after watching Miami's defense just I mean. The show like the individual pieces in Miami you have Jimmy who is excellent and he kind of poses an issue for Lebron. Lebron hasn't had to combat so far. you have Bam obviously who you know I would honestly not surprised at all. If Bam ended up on Lebron and a lot of possessions in this series because you would presume that I think that the Lakers will have to downsize eventually if not right away. Honestly. and. You would assume that Bam will be the one who's guarding Anthony Davis and I think that they will switch that pick and roll Lebron, AD. Pick and roll quite a bit i. don't even know if the Lakers will be able to go to it that often because of how often they'll switch and Bam can guard anybody in the world. He's absolutely incredible if I had to pick who's going to win defensive player of the year next year our pick Bam at a bio he's..

"Walker struggled again in game one box in the Celtics and Miami Heat. I'm Sarah good well here with Jose Cuervo and Jimmy Toscano and Bobby Manning. He finished with 19 points, but a very inefficient 6 of 19 from the fog. He was a -4 rating. Nothing was working. He could not find a rhythm. Obviously, he made a couple of setbacks at the end of the game. So he's slightly redeemed himself, but not what you walk out of your All Star point guard. What is going on? Is it mental for, just because he's never been here before or what do you blame his inefficiency on? I give a huge amount of credit to Bam adebayo because that guy defends the pick-and-roll unlike anybody else in the league for centers and we've come so far from that Philadelphia stage where Joel embiid's they basically sent into the basket line Campbell shoot to just this massive Force being in Kemba space around the screens and going back last four games of the Toronto series off and into this game one Kemba shooting 15% from 3. He's just not getting those looks around the screen gotta go in between. He's already not a finisher. He's made one three-pointer in the last in every game in the last five games just one. Yeah, and so his bread-and-butter all Year's been dancing around that screen again and opened look and I like it's not going to let you do that with one of these days man. I'm gonna get the tape find out man High School swimming and all right. Anyways see Emma Walker he's going through it again because the Toronto Raptors exposed them guys. You talked about this at the game seven like the he's the weakest link. He's got a Target on his back. And when I say defensively you can put this through through a wall after wall and all that energy that he spending trying to keep up with this, you know, the guy he's defending by the time you get ball in his hands and he's dribbling out a shot-clock, you know twenty or nineteen seconds. I have the shot clock the guys exhausted and that's why he's checking up shots off. And on the fourth quarter. I give a lot of credit though. He's he change his approach. He was getting to the free-throw line. He had obviously that big shot down the stretch where the Miami Heat and don't hit the big 3-pointer and the front for overtime everyone off Kemba Walker saves the day or at least come and Walker can still hit a big shot when he dies cold. I think that's what's really tricky about. Kemba is often because we've seen him do that before we can go to 4:10 throughout the first half and then just hit it, you know two or three shots in a row down the stretch and listen. I think you're going to see that throughout this series in the better games that you see from Kemba Walker you're going to see more of that as opposed to a full-out birth. Point performance domination game out of Campbell in this series, but that doesn't necessarily mean the subjects need him to do that to win this series, but he's going to be going through it for a while. I mean the camera struggling can buy that you're seeing right now. He's not the camera that Celtics fans have grown to know the season..

"So why do you like Bama's player? Big Guys who can pass are like my siren song. I love big guys who can pass and when you watch this guy play defense even more than the defense and the speed honestly is the rebounding Joe Harish rhetoric and pay him more time to jump perfectly Lou rate through the clouds. Each I defensive rebound of the after he gets these rebounds where there's like four people under the rim jostling for position and they all jump and then from somewhere else flies in this gigantic guy with these hands that must be made of. I don't know whatever's the strongest possible material you can make and the ball goes into this crowd of four guys and then this other guy just snatches it away like it's nothin' he makes it kind of plays where they're winning plays and if they come at the right moment in a game. They're like a Gut Punch to the other team. Says ACCU head down to Miami to spend time with Bam as friends and his family to get a sense of who he is? Where does historic begin? It begins with his father leaving their family when his mother wanted to move to rule North Carolina and out of Newark New Jersey and they lived in a single wide trailer in the middle of nowhere in North Carolina and his mom worked as a cashier at like a Meat Grocery Store. Kinda thing earning about twelve thousand dollars a year after taxes. And then all of a sudden she had a son who was twelve years old and six six and could dunk. What was it like for him growing up in that trailer with his mom and no one else. You know when you're a kid you just don't think it's anything right like you don't think it's it's different or whatever. He had a sense that it was hard for his mom and that her schedule was crazy and that they didn't see each other much because their schedules didn't overlap the right way but he was happy at a lot of friends. You know it was fine but he did say by H. Thirteen or fourteen. You Begin to realize that this is a hard life that this adult like who you just kind of looked at. Is your mom like every other mom has a job leaves the house and all that that it's it's hard for her and that they don't have a lot and that she works really really hard for for what they have and that's what drove him. That's where he says he got his ambition and his anger and his desire to succeed was when he realized. My Mom's life is harsh. She's tired a lot and I see that. I want to change that winded it. I become apparent to him and his family that playing basketball might be a viable career for him once. He started playing organized basketball which is not till like twelve thirteen fourteen. He picked things up really fast and yet good natural instincts and good natural footwork by fourteen. Fifteen he's on the map of all the big colleges and by the time he's a junior mark Godfrey helicoptering in to recruit him to NC state landing helicopter on the field of their school. Damn does he likes to feeling of these guys. Think they can get by me and they can't. How did that manifest itself when they played Minnesota last year? That was my favorite story in the UH might maybe my favorite store in reporting IBM. And I could tell that. Kenny pain was very excited. And a little trepidation to tell the story but he told it anyway so as the final four was in. Minneapolis last year before this national semifinals. The timberwolves hosted the heat. Which met Karl Anthony towns and Bam out or in the same city and the Kentucky. Coaching staff was also in the same city because everyone goes to the final four and John cale par in Kenny pain. Who's an assistant with Kentucky organized a dinner With the two of them and Carl and Bam and Kenny Pain. I did not know this about him. Is is apparently a legendary disturbing. He enjoys getting under people's skin so they also down to dinner. And Kenny. Says Karl towns it carly men tomorrow in the game? Take it easy on my baby. Bam Don't don't embarrass them and Carl says well you know it's on air expulsion of ten double teams of. Bam need some help and Kenny said. I could feel Bam's leg shaking under the table. He was so infuriated by this entire conversation. And then the next game he he gave Carl towns. Some fits pam knocked away. Waiters came up with the actual defense. From behind towns. Towns had eleven turnovers in that game. Which is the most? He's ever had any claims he doesn't. I interviewed Karl. It's not in the story. He claims very little memory of what happened in the game except he clearly remembers that. The tumor was one. Because that's what he wanted to talk about not using turnovers that seems like a lot of turnover as you think you would remember that you had eleven turnovers in an NBA game. That's like a lot of turnovers. But he he claims like I don't know what does Bam success mean for the heat as a team and also the city of Miami the heat traded for Jimmy Butler h thirty right. So he's going to be there. He's a star. But he's not like their star than the way that Alonzo Mourning or you Don Dwayne Wade. Where there's the heat and weighed in particular view. "Are you interested in trying to be aggressive package together. Some of these contracts in these players so the extra depth and go out and target another star player. Because if you do that you can talk yourself into having a three of Jimmy Bam and whoever this other star might be. I'm a little hesitant to make if I if I'm Miami. I'm patient like as good as they've been this season and you know there is definitely a call for or understanding for why they would wanna go forward this year. Jimmy is not getting any younger. He's under the contract but he's not getting any younger There to the east is it's not necessarily wide open. But they have as good a shot as anyone to To match Gotcha. I think pretty well with with Milwaukee's and the sixers and the Celtics and whoever else is at the top of the East by the end of the season but when I look at Miami I'm kind of like you know I think free agency honestly this. It's tough if you're a Miami Heat Fan you don't want to hear this but I think there are free agency destination and I think that they I should be super patient and wait until the summer of two thousand twenty one when all these different stars are available you know That's basically their laugh. They'll have max cap room with Jimmy. It's the year before there's like a little bit of space and time where they can fit another Max player in before they have to pay a bomb at a bio. You have tyler hero you have. Justice winslow on a really good deal so if they were to make a trade you know I would want it to be on a very short term contract. Maybe someone like Danilo. Gallinari makes a Lotta sense for them. But I don't think someone like Gallo puts them over the top and I also don't want to give up I don't want to give up. Justice winslow In a deal like that either so if I'm them I'm just Kinda like sitting tight eight and I'm appreciating what's going on You know they're getting a lot of production out of low-cost guys like hero Kendrick Nunn Like Bam so oh. I'm just kind of rolling with it. It's good vibes. They have low expectations and then in the summer of two thousand twenty one. When a lot of these superstars become available? I think think that's when you pants. And the tricky part without plan though is does Jimmy declined by that point right. I mean if you get to twenty twenty one. Are you really looking for almost almost like Jimmy replacement or are you ready to shift him to a secondary role. I do think that there are tied to his clock a little bit. Because he's playing. Would you say like a top ten in fifteen player this year so far undoubtedly so I mean you're on his clock right and he's going to want to win and he hasn't really had that opportunity so I'm sure in his mind said he's thinking like like let's go out there and do whatever we can do. One Guy who disagrees with the patient approach. Michael is open floor Globe member Thaddeus and he emailed us open floor mail at gmail.com. Open floor male Ed Jima Dot Com and thaddeus writes. The heat are long crazy. Athletic and deep there too deep honestly honestly it's only worked thus far because they basically always have two players injured. Why don't they try to make a trade consolidate some this roster depth into a star? What about if they traded for Kevin Love from the Cleveland Cavaliers for a twenty twenty-five top ten protected first round pick James Johnson Kelly Olympic Atlantic and Derek Jones? Junior understand the heat wouldn't necessarily want to train another draft pick because they've already traded some But half-measures are how you end up with fool disappointment they would get out of James Johnson and Kelly Olympic salary for next year which is almost identical to love anyway. Plus Olympic on the cavs still provides despu forest basing big to help their younger guards on offense. And maybe you could flip him for some second rounders down the road a heat rotation with Bam Kevin Love Justice this winslow Robinson Jimmy Butler starting and having drug each hero. Non and Leonard. Coming off the bench would be super scary. They'd still have some contracts in there to make another move if they desired as well so the downside here would be that you're taking on Kevin Love you know future money and it's pretty a significant and he's after thirty. He's been pretty checked out this season. He hasn't put up big numbers and he's just kind of waiting on whatever his next move would be. The upside is as he mentions Shins. You would have a starting lineup that would maybe be comparable to anybody's in the eastern conference and you would give yourself a chance a real chance for Eastern conference. It's finals and finals. What do you make of Thaddeus proposal? Michael would you pull the trigger. Well I would not just because of what I said about two thousand twenty one. I think like I don't think Kevin Love is so loves not the right guy. He's not good enough not enough high enough stealing. If you're Miami to get you interested did I don't I don't think so now As you said the age what I mean he's he has a lot of health problems also in his past. He's been okay this this year for the most part but I would worry about that. I mean he's owed over sixty million dollars over the next three years. That's just that's tough F- I think that given the look. I understand what you're saying about you know Jimmy. has you on the clock. But like I I I still think that you slow. Roll it. He is under contract for this year next year or the year after that. And then there's the player option so it does kind of it you can make it work and I understand that patience is really difficult particularly in today's league. Where who know who knows what the Hell's going the happening six months let alone you know a year and a half from now My other problem with this deal is that I don't think the cavs would ever in a million years There if justice winslow is not a part of this package. They're hanging up the phone. Yeah it'll be really interesting to see what Kevin Love's trade value looks like because I think you yeah. The contract is big. I could easily see picking up that player option year. So now you're looking at basically ninety million over three future years just based on where his ages at this point and to me the the tricky thing is if love could really play center and make it work defensively In playoff situations than I if I trusted that I would be more inclined to to trade for him but I feel the same way you know. Like if I'm the Portland Trailblazers something's teams that have been linked to Kevin love like He. He presents some lineup issues. Right like for a long time. He was very helpful as that. Stretch four player who could also give you some rebounding passing from the High Post. He creates spacing but You know to me if he's your four you know. He's not the quickest guy anymore. You know he never was so. That's that could be a tough match up on certain nights he's not really pounding the glass like he used to earlier in his career so he's not punishing smaller fours necessarily like he once was and maybe some of this comes back with a chain of change of scenery because now he has meal meal more investment better teammates to play with But I always view him like as he's aging is like he's a more natural fit as a five where now. He's a stretch five so he gives you more value with the shooting there but he never has really played that role defensively that well and sustained it and so I it Kinda come back to like well if you have Bam place. How good is that pairing Bam in love really does love kind of hold it back a little bit Would you rather just be more athletic. And more versatile In that fourth spot as opposed to trying to roll with Kevin love so I guess I say no to this trade mostly because of Kevin love as the contract but then secondarily because of Kevin Love the player. Yeah all that's really fair. I will just say that. I think think that Kevin love is defender. I mean if you look at how those catastrophic teams perform defensively with him on the floor Up until they had to play Steph curry and Klay Thompson and like the most impossible offense ever They were pretty good with love on the court so I think his defense is is unfairly criticized because of what everyone saw on the biggest stage But to your point I mean he's getting older he's getting slower lower And there's only he's he's it's not like he's super flexible it's not like he's a rim protector who you can just Kinda have drop in drop coverage against pick and rolls So I think it ultimately hurts you a little bit and what Kelly Olympic you have to ask yourself. If if the cost really justifies justifies the cost difference in the contract between Kelly Lennick and Kevin love justifies Making a move like that because Kelly gives you is basically the same thing offensively for for the most part for the role that they want On that team so I think there's a lot of problems here in Miami I don't think I would do it if I was either team. To be honest I love it. Hey I yeah. It's not necessarily so much that he couldn't he wasn't a good defender under in his prime. Right I just think he's definitely post prime when it comes to Kevin Love on that and and I also think like so the teams that they would have to face in this year's playoffs us or next year's playoffs in the East would real. He would struggle. I give Janas is barreling down at him and they're in a quote Unquote Small Ball lineup with Kevin love love at the five. I do not feel good about that. You know that sounds to me like a poster party for Janas and then if you're trying to match up with Joel Embiid with Kevin Love. I'm not living that one either. How do you feel on those two first of all would is a poster? Party is that just A. Is everyone hanging out. They got the scotch tape the Iran role in the posters. There's an there's an open giant wall we're putting up the posters is that what a poster party is basically all the yawning board assembles and we get those photography a bit vests and we sit underneath you know along the baseline underneath the hoop all of us with our iphones in slow mode just waiting to capture capture frame by frame yawn is donkey on Kevin. Love's head possession after possession after possession. Once that's done we retreat to the photo room room. We compare who got the best angle. We blow up the posters. We had them out to me. That's a poster party okay to clarify. No I agree with your point here that you go up against a team like the bucks and they go small with the honest with the five and their spacing you out and I don't really know what Kevin Love does on on those possessions defensively so I think we're on the same page here all right. We have floated the idea. That Bam is a first time. all-star candidate I mentioned democritus ought to Sa- bonus earlier as a potential candidate from the Indiana. Pacers he's got good numbers grade efficiency. They've been winning. It's Kinda crazy like his. Dad is one of the greatest basketball players of all time never never to make an NBA all star game just because he came over so late so it'd be kind of cool..

"So at the moment ever both with an eight second lead over case O'Gorman Sean, able now into second case Gorman in third being challenged by Baillie Stewart, Campbell also being challenged by Finn smart, the number fourteen in fifth. Now just about around the outside into the tub. Paste white hundred to start the final slap on into fourth place. Adebayo Stuart Campbell, stunned sausa-, shine. Evan bell fit the fifty two very competitive so far, but case O'Gorman fighting tooth and nail through devil's elbow for third place. Been small companies Keiser. Goeman cannot get past showing able soon Vince Martin than the wave him as they go through Tomas Evan belt for these malls ahead in this race. Now he's turned for the others. Just come into tone. Keisha going up. The straight gets passed, show naval, Vince mount follow suit, so thin smoke going with the championship leader here. Fin small is narrow into third, the moat able from four case yo Gorman. He's back into second place. We await to see what's going to happen about that though. At the moment is I come so down into the carousel as on the inside James rose trying to make his way through it was passed, shown able, Jack Kirsch said, keep an eye out for him as a head of, oh, and melon with that. Seventh for him. I'm Evan Belford look lady as is Evan bell for these crews for this is got to be that as ten seconds, at least ten seconds if not more than ten seconds from case yo Gorman. Well, at the moment that might be the case third-place. He's still being contended, fend smarts into that Beatty shirt. Campbell falls. Fifth is going to be James rose Sean able also losing out to Jack Kirsch on that last lap. So having a few struggles on that bike behalves fourteen point, seven seconds is vase. Lead the gap for the race lead Evan bovid with the fastest lap ahead of case O'Gorman fin smart Bailey. Stewart Campbell, and James rose just a confirmation of the order, but James rose, Jack Kirsch, fifth and six, both hounding Bailey's Campbell. He's also got fins Marta ahead just tiptoeing around the corner at the moment, a long left time, happiness, quite one, nine, three that. But if he could say yourself out with a good one, conveying the antibody yourself up a couple of positions, but fence Mark may be a coke in the. Bottle. Bailey's. Campbell determined for that place is a twenty second penalty for we'll be seven as Casey, o Gorman twenty-second penalty applied at the end of the vase because he cut the costs pushed by the marshals through so Weldon to control for having a decision on that. So early on. But nonetheless, ever both will not be worrying about fifteen point six seconds as we approached our halfway distance in this race ahead of case O'Gorman fin smarts in the Jack Kirsch in full and is really looking to fight for third place on the circuit and down the inside has gone through. So Jack cash, really having a good base so far. Jay Goldman, we'll be dropped to ninth place over that twenty-second penalty. He would be dropped to ninth place, kind the courses reading done. Casey O'Gorman toll Evan belt for Kosta line. Again, six laps to go for the mini GPO seventy. Race to hear dramatic, a controversial encounter for show, but Jack Kirsch, we said, look out for him..
