"The news, the news breaking that Paul Bryant was stepping down, retiring at the Alabama head football coach, that story, and his official announcement, 40 years ago today. Yes, I do remember where I was. What's that? I was covering what I thought was the biggest story of my career at Alabama. And during not to be. Well, was it the time? I didn't know that this other guy was going to come in. This other guy. That other guy was going to come in and undo all the greatest coach ever. I mean, when you write that down, Paul W Bryan, comma, who announces retirement today is the greatest coach in history. And then you have to come back and say that about somebody else. At the same school, you know, history is made to be rewritten. Let's get to the phone calls here at 855-242-7285. Jim is in Boise in your first step. Hey, Jim. Hello, Paul. Hello, Paul. Thank you for taking my call. Thank you. To be brutally honest, I never paid much attention to SEC football or even watch your show until Mike leach went to Mississippi state. I'm a 72 year old man who coached high school and college football last Tuesday. I received more phone calls from my old Friends than I've received in the past 5 years. They called me because they knew how fond I was a Mike leach. He was his own man, a man of principle and his death is a great loss to college football. I just hope here in these stories will bring some comfort to his family like it did for me when I lost my dad back in 1990. First, Mike Lee were setting next to you right now looking back on his life. I'm convinced he would be pointing to a man along with Helena as being most instrumental in his career, Bill moose. Bill moose managed the restaurant in Corvallis Oregon and attended parties with our football staff at Oregon state when I coached under head coach Joe Amazon. Back in the early 80s. So I knew a little bit about him and his successes as athletic director at Montana and the university of Oregon. And when he made the decision to hire leech at WSU, I knew he made the right decision. Despite the criticism he must have received, let's be honest, people were afraid of each after taking on Texas tech and ESPN. But what I'd like to kind of tell you is the story as an old retired card while I was living in north central Idaho, maybe two hour drive from Pullman Washington. I masqueraded as a high school football coach and registered for a Washington state university post this clinic. It must have been in the spring of 2015 or 16. On the registration, I put down my old high school from the 60s, hard high in Southern California is where I was coaching at the time when I wasn't coaching anywhere. I knew coach sleets had been recruited in a hard high quarterback named Brady white at the time, Brady's grandpa had been my junior high math teacher. I just wanted to see what made it. I was intrigued with the man. But at one point in the clinic, I ran into Lee as I was going in and he was coming out of the restroom and he said, hey, how you doing? And he looked down at my name tag and being hard high school, he smiled. I'm not sure, but I think he was on to me. I was gray headed and 30 years older than the other coaches at the clinic. I think he had also seen the 8 four maple or as earlier that morning. But at the clinic, I learned leach did not stretch his players on the field. He said as a high school player in Cody Wyoming, he didn't like to get his butt wet. And he said the players could stretch on their own time. I also saw something someone who could by far get more reps in a football drill than I ever saw. So he would get two weeks of practice out of the average coach is one week practice. This is something I heard mister Cohen mentioned the other day on your show. Along with his discipline, which was news to me, but didn't surprise me because guys like him and Lou holtz were known for being disciplinarian. In fact, Michael Perry has stopped watch around the time and start the reps and drills and always looking to get in more reps. Early on Saturday morning after a night of beer drinking with the coaches, I took the elevator upstairs to watch film with new defensive coordinator Alex grant. He had just got into town and no one was around at the time and the door to coach lease his office was wide open. I walked in and noticed the pirate in full uniform on my right and looking straight ahead. I saw two pictures on the wall, Sarah Bryant and Donald J Trump. You would later have big money boosters hold that contributions to WSE because of his conservative so called free speech views. Late to never flinch. My favorite moments of late course at halftime of the Apple bowl that was actually Chris Peterson's last game he would ever coat the nose guard was just single handedly dominating our whole first half and the TV reporter asked coach coach what do you need to do in the second half? What 51 league said is he never broke stride walking into locker room? Another was as method of selecting the steam captains picking a player who had won big on a TV show, et cetera, and them to be lucky on the coin toss. And by the way, he was. Jim, that's really amazing. I appreciate you sharing that with us. At the beginning of the conversation, did you tell me you worked for Joe Joe avaz ao? I did, and he was quite a character too. I'm going back to college now. But when I was in college, John majors came over, and I'm pretty sure Joe was on his staff. Before he went to Bill what? He was his offense and coordinator and Bobby roper, who I worked for was the defense of coordinator. And they both went to. Great guys. We had a good staff here. We had guys like Dave Campo, Robert Ford, Nick allio. We never did win. Yeah, Joe. Joe reminded me a lot of right now in my mind. I remember him very well. Well, he was an intense guy and a lot of people remember the kind of a long here to Italian guy on the sideline with the Dallas Cowboys and but he had another side to him too like Mike leitch and he was just he was just one of the greatest most inspirational guys I ever worked for and I'll tell you what, he didn't tell you to do things a second time either he was just like Jimmy Johnson. Well Jim, thank you very much for sharing those stories. It was a great pleasure to hear your recollections. Thanks so much. You'd be well. Let's check out rusty, who was up next. Hey, rusty. Hey, Paul, how you doing? We're doing well. Thank you. Been a while, I don't get to call in very often, but due to my work schedule, but I always watch the show back on television on faith and been a long time since our early days in the 90s at old island 95 radio. Oh yeah. Hey, I had a quick comment about Mississippi state and then I had a question for you. First of all, I just wanted to, again, I know everybody said this on your show the past few days, but just tremendous coverage of the Mike leak story, an incredible person, just as much as he was a great coach, a great person. I probably never mentioned this on your show because I like to talk about football, but I myself have been a tennis coach for over 20 years coaching high school teams and when I saw everything about Mike Lee, I know he was blessed. I know he knew the impact he had on players. I'm very blessed and fortunate had numerous scholarship players and so rewarding when players graduate high school go on to college, get married, have families and my players stay in touch with me. And I've seen so many things on Mike leach about the players he had an impact on and it's just such a great story and heartbreaking what has happened, the comment I had about Mississippi state was just when you announced the story about that they were hiring from within, you know, I agree that a lot of times these teams don't always make good decisions on their hiring process or how they do things in normal situations, but Mississippi state was certainly in a tough spot here because regardless of the situation of losing my leach, they obviously they have to have a leader. They have to have a head coach and I think it absolutely would have been the wrong thing to start looking for a coach or trying to find someone. I don't think he would agree. I think when they hired Mike leach, I don't think they could have hired a better coach for Mississippi state.

"You about the other story making the rounds today. Bob petrino moving from Missouri state to UNLV, certainly a pariah in college football, even though he keeps getting jobs. What's been the reaction to this move? Well, it certainly, I think there was an expectation Paul that Bobby petrino would be back in major college football at some point. Perhaps not as a head coach. But the one thing Bobby petrino has done, whether you like him, or you hate him. He can call plays on offense. And there was going to be somewhat of a market for him to do that at the FBS level. Barry Odom is the new coach at UNLV, former head coach at Missouri, was at Arkansas defensive coordinator, certainly familiar with Bobby petrino's work. There were some talk about him at Texas a and M as a candidate for Jimbo Fisher's staff that ultimately did not materialize, but I think he's done a pretty good job at Missouri state, tough program to win. Led them to a historic season a couple of years ago, but I think the natural step was for him to be back at this level. It's going to be at UNLV. It's going to be at a program that's been really down for a long time, especially on the offensive side of the ball. So I think they look at it like, what's the downside? We're bringing in one of the more proven play callers in the country. He certainly has a past, but they're willing to roll with Bobby petrino and see how that goes in sin city. And Adam yesterday, the UCLA regents after much delay and consternation finally gave the green light for UCLA to go to the big tent. I don't know why this took so long and frankly, whether it really matters or not, but where are we next with conference expansion with this now being approved? I think now we're officially at a bit of a standstill. You never want to say that completely given some of the surprises we've had the last couple of summers, but the Big Ten can now say for sure it'll be USC and UCLA joining the conference in 2024. This delay held up the PAC 12s media rights agreement. George Cleopatra, their commissioner saying that they would be able to finalize that shortly after the University of California regents made their decision one way or the other. And they are obviously allowing UCLA to move to the Big Ten, but with a so called Berkeley tax. The tax that they're going to have to subsidize Cal's athletic department between two and $10 million per year depending on the media rights agreement because Cal is obviously going to be at a disadvantage having to stay in the PAC 12 with a lower revenue than UCLA is going to get going to the Big Ten. So a lot of moving parts here, but it does feel at this point. Now conference expansion, at least at the major level, can slow down a little bit. We'll see now when Texas and Oklahoma actually make their move to the SEC. Will it be 2025? Could it be 2024? It feels to me Paul like so many things in this enterprise are going to happen in 2024. So that certainly a possibility along with the expanded playoff and now officially the Big Ten adding both LA schools. Yeah, Adam, and the SEC is still holding firm, but nothing has changed, but you just said it. In anybody's world, can you imagine that this happens in 24 with the Big Ten, which we know it's going to now, the college football playoff expanding in 24 in the SEC still sitting there waiting another year for Oklahoma in Texas? Right. And when the move happened in 2021, nobody thought that they would actually play what is it three more years in the big 12 when the big 12 is obviously expanding itself and adding new teams next year, BYU, Cincinnati Houston, UCF. It just feels like an uncomfortable situation. I understand the financial part of it. But I never thought when that move was announced, I think you probably agree with me, Paul, that those schools would still be in the big 12 in the 2025 season. Frankly, I'm surprised they're going to be there for the 23 season, but ultimately you're right. I think it is going to be in 24. A busy day here Adam, thank you for joining us. We really appreciate you as always Adam rittenberg, joining us as we begin the program here on a Thursday. We will talk more about the decision with the president, new NCAA president, the governor of Massachusetts coming to Indianapolis, more of your phone calls. We have a long way to go here. We hope you'll stick around, and we're open for business for phone calls right after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Hey there, folks. "Then who is the most valuable commodity in the ACC to go to the Big Ten? There's some debate right now. It seems like North Carolina is winning. That may not sound great to you, but North Carolina is a very large state. That would agree. And it's a really well respected brand. And I know you can't go to basketball here, but because other people, nobody really wants duke. So, but North Carolina offers you I think North Carolina fits the Big Ten more than any other current ACC school. All I appreciate all that you said and on my last take sadly I'm a razorback fan and big orange country. So it's just tough to be me, but I appreciate your show every single day, my friend. Thank you so much. It means a great deal to hear from you. And you take care of yourself, Stuart, is in South Carolina. Hello, Paul, how you doing? Hey there. You made reference to the Oklahoma coach that he just got fired. Right. And then you made reference about Davos swimming, making racial comments about people. No. Stuart, I never said that. What I said was this. Well, I know what I said. And I said this, that I felt like Brent venables was making a statement by firing Gundy because of what he saw while he was a defensive coordinator at Clemson. And what did he see there? He saw a racial incident occur with Danny pyramid. And he saw dabo Sweeney do virtually nothing about it. That's all I said. I really think that's not fair. I mean, Paul, why would you do that? I mean, this guy, he made that decision and then made you blame it on the coach at the other school. I don't understand that. Well, no Stewart, all I'm doing is giving you an opinion about why I thought he expedited the decision. There could be some other reasons, but I think he's trying to show this is how you handle a racial situation in 2022, not the way the paramedic situation was handled at Clemson. That's all I said, but I can certainly understand you wanting to defend your guy, dabba, who said that a player's ever received any money, he would quit football. He still coaching, isn't he? Last I checked. And it's only 4 o'clock in the after 5 o'clock in the afternoon. We'll take a break.

"Many SEC fans that want to see CBS around much longer. Now that CBS is in bed in business, excuse me, with the Big Ten, if is it more likely that that deal ends earlier and the SEC start doing what it wants to do and hop over on ABC and ESPN. I haven't heard that. And I think if you're CBS, you certainly want to see that deal through, which is a great deal for you. Not the best deal for the SEC, but to have SEC content on mid afternoon with all the great teams, always national championship contenders, the ability to put Alabama on and Georgia and a and M and LSU at Florida. I think you certainly want to see that through to the very end and then obviously everybody will move over to the ESPN platforms. And what about the big 12? You have a new commissioner who's open for business. Now that their partners are going else one of their partners is going elsewhere. Does that open the door perhaps for Texas and Oklahoma to enter the SEC earlier? Well, you know, I think that it certainly could. But I think the league that celebrating more today, Paul is the PAC 12 because the PAC 12 is in a more desperate position, but they're also going to market before the big 12 goes to market with this media deal. And the fact that ESPN is not going to be part of the Big Ten agreement, I was doing a radio show earlier with John canzano and he said the PAC 12, they're doing cartwheels today because they might be able to leverage ESPN in a way that they maybe couldn't. If ESPN had been part of the Big Ten deal because the PAC 12, the one thing they have going for it and that will never change is the fact that they're all along the Pacific time zone. And they can have games in that late window. So I think the PAC 12 is extremely excited. I think the big 12 is certainly we'll celebrate the Big Ten numbers because their own agreement is going to be coming up here relatively soon, but they're following the PAC 12 and still trying to monitor the landscape. Whether it makes Texas and Oklahoma get to the SEC sooner, I've always felt that the 2024 would likely be the year, but I haven't heard anything that this accelerates that. Adam rittenberg, joining us from ESPN on the big news breaking on the Big Ten rights agreement. We'll take a break. More to come, more of your phone calls right after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. And welcome back. Been a long time since this next person showed up on our radar screen. Larry from Missouri, good afternoon. Hey, mister mama, you get along that. Great. How about you? Great, great. It's called when the end to take exception to your comments about my bald tail Gundy while I go. I mean, he basically called the guy racist. Nugget backtrack slightly. And I want to hear you, you tell me what he was doing, repeating that word. By the way, I'm going to tell you later in his first statement and then he amended it. I will take. I will tell you, and it's you tell us all. If you and these crazy lefty is that do you think we should ban Mark Twain's Tom saw you think we should ban that Paul the damn truth? That is truly one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard in my life to go back to Mark Twain in terms of what a coach read out loud in front of a football team in 2022. And you tell me, can you point to anything that says he's a racist other than you say? Well, I'll go ahead and say it, Larry. If a coach, inadvertently reads out something off an iPad that has the N word, I'll say that was a mistake. When he repeats it, I'll say that that's something that he wants to repeat because he likes saying the word. And when he does it again, are you really? I'm saying he's got some racist tendencies. I'm just going to say it right now. I don't really care what you say because that's how I feel. Hey, have you listen to music in the last 50 years? No, I've been living in a cave in the office. Why don't you dog the rappers and the people using that interested in dogging the rappers? Why don't you talk about Gundy at Oklahoma? That's what I'm interested in. When you can't win anything, you just say, hey, somebody's a racist. The last thing I would say is at Twitter free Larry reserve. Thanks, Paul. Listen, everyone's in childhood. Their opinion. But when a football coach in a prominent position, he's been at a school coaching for what, 20 years, and everybody's talking about what a great man he is and what a great player. I'm pretty concerned about it. Obviously, I wasn't the only one concerned Brent venables fired him, okay? Because Brent venables lived through that a couple of years ago with another coach and dabo Sweeney didn't do a thing other than issue a weak statement. So I have no problem saying what I did if you like saying if you like saying the N word and you're a white man in your 50s, you got some problems, okay? It has nothing to do with Mark Twain. It has nothing to do with the rap lyrics. Anybody bothered by that got problems too. I mean, I don't really, I'm not concerned what a rapper is saying that that's his right to say it. And I'm not going to play that game that some of you out there want to play when it comes to the N word. It's ridiculous. Thanks for the call. Appreciate it. Always good to hear from you, Larry. Zach wants back. He wants to talk about that when we can talk about college football. Paul, so yo, we're talking about we lost the national championship in 1996, blah, blah, blah, Tommy Fraser, some crap about touchdown, blah, blah, blah, but you know what happened, right? The next year. Florida won the national championship. Not only not only we won the national championship, we'd be our arch rival, which they cheated, roughing, hitting a very Christian man, Danny were full just like another Christian quarterback we had antibo, but yes, yeah. So there's that. I don't know why dog on Florida, man. My dog, my dog and the Gators all the time, you get a chance. Well, exactly. He was simply talking about one of the worst one sided championship games in history. That's all. And Nebraska was a great team that year. So was Florida. But they got rolled in that game. Appreciate good to hear from you again. You were even better the second time around. Let's chalk to Joe in Pennsylvania. Hello, Joe. Paul, Paul, you don't know how many years I've been trying to get through to you and I'm just sitting here today and I just launched push the buns and I actually got an answer. I am so excited to talk to you and I should have made a list every time you were talking about something on your show that I wanted to talk to you about. And I'm just like, oh, I've been putting a list here. All the things I always wanted to say and man, well, just before you were talking about the great quarterback receiver, do all like Sullivan and Beasley and the Reeves and Carlos Alvarez. I remember watching snakes, stabler, throw to Dennis hallman. Oh, yeah. The absolutely. That was, it wasn't as famous. And the reason why is that snake had a couple of other pretty good receivers around him. Yeah, like, tell you what. I live in Pennsylvania. Coal mine in town. And everyone up here is Notre-Dame or Penn State, and I will see a few flags hanging around and whatnot, but it's basically up here. I mean, the bar I go to there all dressed in green all the time. Joe, what part of the state what part of the state do you live in? You sort of Allentown. Of course, okay, I'm about 30 miles from Allentown. North of Allentown. And I only live like 13 miles from Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah.

"Sing has been real messed up around here. Look it's all my fault. You got a white wizard of course. And now you need a break from the curse. From Taika Waititi and Sterling harjo. Hey, you guys snagging it. I'm 15. The pack is back. What about you? No boyfriend? No. Girlfriend? Can't be tamed. FX's reservation dogs now streaming, only on Hulu. And we're back and a lot happening today. With the big canned Adam rittenberg from ESPN joining us now, he's been covering this evolving story about what could be an absolute blockbuster deal and Adam joining us now. Adam, thanks for the time, as always. So we don't know anything official yet. The big tent isn't talking, but what have you been able to cobble together and what does it all mean? Good afternoon. Hey, good afternoon, Paul. Yeah, I think the big tent is probably days away. Maybe a week or so away from announcing this. But it's an agreement with Fox is the anchor partner which we knew was going to be the case. But CBS and NBC are set to join and become major broadcast partners of the Big Ten CBS, most likely in that mid afternoon window, which will be vacated once all the SEC content moves over to ESPN in 2024 and then NBC, which is basically only been a player in college football with Notre dame home games will have Big Ten content, most likely in the prime time window. And ESPN after 40 years or so of Big Ten partnership and games and so forth. It is not going to be part of this deal. So that's the second part of the big news is NBC and CBS are in. And ESPN is out and the big set is set to cash in on just a blockbuster media rights agreement with three of the major, major broadcast networks. I realize everything is speculation at the moment, but how big could it get? Well, the reports out of sports business journal and others is that both CBS and NBC paid about $350 million for their individual packages. ESPN ultimately turned down a proposal from the big ten for about 300 million 380 $1 million, 7 year deal. But if you do the math with those two outlets taking Fox completely out of it and then you add in the fact that Fox is still going to have Ohio state Michigan and many of the top games in the conference year to year. I mean, that pushes well over 1 billion dollars annually. So this is a deal that as Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren told me back in July at media days. He wants people to look at this deal 20 years from now and say, wow, they changed the game for everybody in terms of how it was structured, who was involved. The length of the deal, all of that and obviously very, very close now to finalize we get. So how would that compare Adam to the deal ESPN cut, but still hasn't fully gone into effect yet with the SEC? Well, it's a different deal in a sense that you have more media partners. It's a shorter, most likely going to be a shorter agreement. I think in the 6 to 7 year range, which isn't a huge shock call because previous commissioner Jim Delaney did this was his last deal was only 6 years, which allowed the Big Ten to go to market before all of these other conferences. And so I think I'd be surprised if the total length of the deal is approaching what ESPN's is or will be with the SEC a ten year agreement. So shorter term, more partners involved and really trying to look at it as a source said to me, kind of like the NFL does with certain partners and certain windows of the day. We have our noon window with Fox. We have our mid afternoon window with CVS and we have our prime window with NBC and trying to spread out the content with both times and network designations. But you know this is a testosterone field competition. It would just seem from a distance sitting here at the SEC network that the Big Ten has got a better deal, am I correct? Well, I mean, part of it's just the timing, right? The fact that they're right now at a time where these rights are as practical commissioner George Cleo ask off is still both of us severely undervalued and you have networks that want to be part of the college football space. I mean, CBS doesn't have anything once the SEC leaves. And so they were in a position to put up a lot of money. NBC wants to be a bigger player in this space. They have room, which may be others don't. And they want Big Ten content to fill that prime window. I mean, ideally, NBC can have a really good Notre-Dame game on it at two 30 or three 30 in the afternoon and that flows right into a good Big Ten game in the evening. I think what's going to be interesting, Paul is what the actual picks will be because we both know that Ohio State Michigan is going to be on Fox every year at noon at noon eastern on that final Saturday. The regular season. So what does everybody else get? And how those games rate? How are they promoted? And so forth. I think it's exciting for the Big Ten, but it will be interesting to see how it actually plays out and especially once USC and UCLA enter the league, how that kind of changes where everybody goes and where everyone's placed on those different networks at different times. It seems like Notre-Dame is still the card that everybody wants to try to figure out. How does this assuming it does at all affect Notre-Dame's position as either an independent or the likelihood it could end up in the Big Ten. Well, I think it'll be interesting to see a Notre-Dame reacts, not just to the numbers, but the fact that its main broadcast partner will no longer be exclusive with Notre-Dame. I mean, they've been in an exclusive relationship for a long time and now that relationship is going to include the Big Ten. On the NBC end of it. So will that top Notre-Dame to look at joining the Big Ten? Will it make them more steadfast in their desire to remain independent? They're still set to get a lot from their next media agreement with NBC or others. And so I think that's what's so interesting is that this once this deal was out, a lot of people around the sport were saying, okay, then you're going to see a reaction from other schools from other leagues. And so that reaction period essentially starts now. Adam, this interminably long CBS deal with the SEC still has a couple of years to go.

"Left some people scratching their heads in this conference. I think by adding USC and UCLA, it was a bold move, a move that certainly damages the PAC 12, but one that strengthens the Big Ten going forward, putting the league in Los Angeles, along with Chicago and New York, having a coast to coast conference. So I think that trust is in a much better place now than it was certainly in 2020 and even in 2021 when there was just still a little bit of, I need to see something from this guy to restore my faith in him leading the conference. Adam, one of my favorite books growing up was choose your own adventure books. I don't know if you remember those, but those were awesome growing up, or you'd be like, hey, I'm in a bear in a cave, I found a treasure, right? So I'm going to have a choose your own adventure question here. What intrigues you more? The idea in reports that they want to expand, including Cal, Stanford, and some of these other teams or 16 team playoff, which has been kind of murmured this week over at Big Ten media days. Choose your own adventure. Well, I think it's always going to be further realignment because that's the topic that fascinates us to no end in college football, whether it's media, whether it's fans, even coaches and players here, we're talking a lot about that recently. But I think I don't think there's going to be anything immediate for the Big Ten. The media rights agreement is the first item. It's been on the front burner for a number of months now. Thought it was going to be finalized in June. We're sitting here at the end of July, still no announcement just yet. And I don't sense that there's going to be another round of realignment immediately after that, but it's something to monitor because at that point the numbers will be out. And you'll get to see how much these schools will be getting from a yearly basis from the Big Ten. That's going to peak the interest of schools in the PAC 12. It's going to peak the interest of schools. Everywhere else, as a couple of coaches said, if you're not in the SEC or the Big Ten, you want to be a part of those leagues. And there's going to be some important information coming out with this media rights package that's going to attract attention from everywhere. So again, I don't think it's going to happen immediately, but the realignment door is certainly not closed as Kevin Warren said on Tuesday. How much of it does it matter? And I said that before you join us a little bit more because you and I and our kind of tweet exchange was about, hey, wait a minute. There's been one team Ohio State that's won a national championship in what since 1998 or 1997 when Michigan did it, you know, and the adding of these teams can they really take that next jump or is it just a monetary jump for the conference? Well, I think you look at USC and the mess that's been around that program now PB for more than a decade in terms of leadership, athletic directors, coaches, problems with their roster, problems with their university. And now you have Lincoln Riley in place. And you have Mike bohn, the man who hired him who's a veteran athletic director and more and more respected around the country. If USC can't start competing for the playoff for a national titles in the next three or four years, I think we'll all be surprised. So that's another school that's coming into this conference in 2024 that should have a chance to compete nationally. Michigan made the playoff last year. Obviously didn't perform well on that stage against Georgia, but they've been recruiting well. They have that reference point as Jim Harbaugh told me and others yesterday that they've done this now. They can get back to that stage. We'll see about Penn State. We'll see about Michigan state with Mel Tucker. He's recruiting at a level. Michigan state hasn't really been at before. He comes from programs that have competed for national championships, whether it's Alabama or Georgia or LSU or Ohio State or being in the NFL. So Mel wants to get to that level. The difference in the SEC is you and I have talked about over the years. There's more programs that are capable of rising to that level. There's programs that are there every year. Alabama, Georgia, LSU to a degree, but you have Texas a and M, you have auburn that's won a national championship Florida that's won a national championship in the BCS era. So there's just more of those that have that the possibility of rising up. The Big Ten needs to populate its elite tier like the SEC has. Well, very well said, Adam last question for you is it feels like it's Georgia and Alabama in this conference shocking coming into this season. Is it Ohio State in everybody else? Or is there a true contender out there? Well, it's funny people being Michigan won this league last year. They returned their quarterback. They return a really good core of receivers. They returned several players from the offensive line that won the Joe Moore award as the nation's best and it's like we've all defaulted to Ohio State. Well, they're the only ones who can win. They're the only ones who can get to the playoff. I wouldn't count out Michigan, even though they have to replace two outstanding defensive linemen, another first round pick in the secondary. And then we'll see your Michigan state build off the momentum. It had at the end of last year. What about Penn State? They've always shown the talent level to compete more for Big Ten championships. But certainly the conversation starts with Ohio State in this conference and it would be very surprising if they're not on this field on the first Saturday of December, celebrating a Big Ten championship. I know you will be out there and you do a great job covering the conference. Adam rittenberg, we will spar a social media wise here in a little bit more later today, okay? Thanks, buddy. Thank you. Appreciate it. One of the best. We always, we give each other a little bit of hell because we actually like each other. At Peter Byrne's ESPN, you can yell at me there. "Hard this year? Are you familiar? Yeah, no. They're at a conference or Cincinnati, Missouri state at BYU and liberty. I mean, they have, I don't think anybody has a tougher pill. I don't know. I would have and they're in the west is already the toughest schedule. I would have offered BYU anything to get out of that game. Insanity. I mean, I like the mentality, but if they have more than 80 healthy players, November, it's a miracle. Yeah, and the problem is the BYU game. They do have a break after that game, but then they have auburn next and liberty is just a scary game, they're capable of winning a game against a team that we saw last year with Arkansas. I mean, they had some phenomenal games, Texas, a and M and then they just laid an egg against auburn at home, I believe, and then somebody else I can't remember, but I mean, it's hard to, when you don't have a complete deep roster. And I think they will have a good roster this year, but is it enough? I'm with you, Paul. That's 7, I don't want to let anybody do anything illegal, but take the yonder. I don't know. I'm still tempted to put my faith in Sam Pam. Hey, thank you very, very much. Dwayne is up next. You know, hey Dwayne, hey, Paul, how you doing man? Very well. Thank you. I was just looking at the top ten coaches, Ashley rankings, and I was curious some of your take on this. They've got Jimbo at four on this ranking then I've got. And I think my personal opinion, I think Pittman and high school is better and they got them there. Let's see pitman 7 and typhus ten. I just wanted to get your opinion. Okay, so you have Kirby, Saban, who's number three. Harvey saved stew. This year, and then as Brian Kelly, oh yeah, forgot about Brian killer. Sam Pittman. Mike Lee, Shane Bieber, Josh hypovolemic, Brian Harrison, you had courtly. Yeah, and you're saying Jimbo should be lower? I am. I'm saying that I think Brian Kelly's better than him as a coach. To be honest with you. Well, I want you to be. I don't like Jimbo, he's wrong about my fans. But that could play. Oh, I'm sure a Bama fan would have absolutely objectivity when it comes to Jimbo Fisher. Hey, thank you for the call. We're heading to a break. We have a lot to do. We will talk to the author of that list. In about 30 minutes, and we hope you'll stick around. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. It took just 37 words to open the door for women. No person, shall, on the basis of sex, be subjected to discrimination. Title 9, the law that changed the game. All I knew is that I didn't feel tennis was right. 50 years on. What happened when we let women play? Without title 9, I don't think I'd go to northeastern university and win. For the four part podcast.

"Our program great to have you with us and we're always excited to check in with Adam rittenberg, the national correspondent for college football. For me ESPN and got a couple of stories that we want to take a look at a couple of Miami and three others who are about to make a jump and also the future, what the next couple of years could look like based on power rankings. So Adam, thank you for your time. Let's start with schools that are about to take a jump. You mentioned Miami. Give us the lay of the land and who's looking good right now. Yeah, Paul as you know in this sport, it's so hard to change tears to move up a tear to become something that you aren't. And so I took a look at Miami, Michigan state was sort of the focus of that piece, but also Oklahoma state and Texas a and M as programs that are at least making the investment to move up to that tier. I think the one program we've seen in this sport that has elevated itself and every way in the last decade or so is Clemson. You know, throughout the 90s, the early part of the 2000s, that was a top 20 program sometimes, never in the top ten. They decided to make investments. They knew their coach in dabo and they've become a national contender. And that's what Miami is hoping to do with Mario Cristobal. That's what Texas a and M is trying to do obviously with Jimbo Fisher. That was really the inspiration for the piece was what Michigan state did with Mel Tucker in giving him a deal that really set the market in last year's coaching cycle, but it's more than just an investment in one coach. It's saying, hey, we are serious about football. We are trying to become a higher tier program than we've been in the past. Hard thing to do, but those programs are at least attempting to make that move up. Yeah, it's even harder at him as it not with a 14 playoff because that's really how these coaches are judged. And I've lost track of how many 8 or 9 or $10 million coaches are out there. It doesn't seem like they're all going to be successful, does it? It doesn't. But again, I think a lot of these moves are designed for the future and ideally an expanded playoff, which a lot of us hope comes sooner than later, but you're right. There's going to be a $9 million coach this year that probably loses three or four games. So how does how do they react to that? I spoke with Michigan states, your top booster who really funded Mel Tucker's contract and he at least is saying all the right things right now about being in it for the long haul and realizing that it's not something that happens overnight to become a tier one program, but that's a lot of money you've invested in one person essentially. It is a program investment, but if the results aren't there, it's why I think the Jimbo Fisher situation is so interesting because a and M signed him to what was then a record contract, $75 million guaranteed. They are now approaching that period where they need the return on the investment and everything else has gone right in the off season in terms of recruiting and development. But they are probably closer to wanting those results than maybe a Michigan state or a Miami, but all those programs that I wrote about in that piece for ESPN+ have said we are putting money in, we are putting money into the coach to the facilities, to the NIL program, what have you, and at some point, they're going to expect results that is not 9 and three, or 8 and four, it's getting to the college football playoff and ultimately competing for a national championship. Yeah, while you were talking at him, I got texts from let me see if I get this correctly. Gene chiswick, less miles, Ed augeron, Dan Mullen, and Gus Mel zone saying, hey, can I talk to some of these guys and tell them the reality? It is brutal out there and we both know that every year somebody gets fired that we were talking about in your group. So let me get to what the future looks like. And I don't think there's going to be too many big surprises here. And this is even tougher because it seems like the same people who are doing well today are projected to do well over the next couple of years. How did you come up with this list? Right. Well, this is the fourth of a series of rankings. Top 25s and it's looking at the next three seasons. So it's a combination of who's on your roster now and who is coming in through the recruiting process as well as other factors, coaching stability, different levels of investment. Obviously, Georgia rose from last year to this year. Michigan wasn't even in the team rankings last year. Now they're in the top ten. That's how dramatic a season like they had last year in terms of getting into the college football playoff and beating Ohio State. And so their fortunes are looking good. And so yeah, no real surprises at the top, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas a and M, though, is my number four. And again, it just reiterates the urgency in my mind. I know you and I have talked about it before for that program to get into the college football playoff and compete for national championships because that's why you hire Jimbo Fisher. That's why you put all the money into the program and had the recruiting class they had, which was the number one class, maybe the best defensive line haul ever. So they need to get into that championship level position, but to your point about the same teams, it is hard to crack that top 5. I think Notre-Dame's outlook is interesting. Michigan made a big move this year. LSU is in that top ten. Always has the chance to move up history has shown that, but can they be a consistent top four top three program. We're going to find out that's part of the intrigue here in projecting out the next three seasons. And not to harp too much, although why not on a and M because I mean, not only do they have to do it at some point, the money is massive, the success is on the recruiting trail. And on the field a couple of years ago and the win over Alabama, we had coach Don and on an hour ago, and he pointed out those ugly losses last year, which is still kind of hard to wrap your arms around. So I realized you're just trying to look ahead, but what is the window for Jimbo Fisher? What really does he have to do over the next couple of years? I think it's really simple, Paul. I think he has to make the college football playoff, at least in the next three years, at least once. This year is maybe a tougher year to do so with some of the personnel they lost and obviously that recruiting class will all be freshmen. So hard to expect all of those players to hit right away and develop right away..

"Your sentiment is a fair one and the skepticism is also fair to have until we see some type of change. But I guess I wouldn't get too caught up in the playoff issue. I think the bigger mistake was not coming up with something that worked for at least the power schools regarding NIL. That was such a failure. And now we're seeing the result of that. The playoff will get sorted out. It's frustrating. I wanted to see an expanded playoff. We're going to get there. NIL, the failure there to not come up with something that worked for most or all of college athletics at the highest level. It was a massive failure. And now you're seeing the result of it. And Adam, your point is a good one, a great one. All these leaders in college sports, they all just look the other way. And I would be the last person on the face of the earth to defend Mark emirate, but it's not all his fault. He's the one that caught all the blame. It was easy for these leaders to pile on him. As if he was the single reason why college football college athletics is the message in today, but the gene Smith, the not clear cough, excuse me. He wasn't around. But all these other guys have been around for some time. Yeah, and again, I think sometimes we criticize the NCAA, not realizing that the members are the NCAA. It's all in the same. And the inability to kind of come together and be forward thinking, you know, you and I talked to your years about Mike sy being a forward thinker. Greg sankey is the same way Jim Delaney was that way for a long time. Thinking what's going to come next. And I think there's a lack of that in some level right now, or at least those who have that ability are not getting enough support. We need to get ahead of this next thing. Instead of always reacting to something that happened, Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC, for example, it's much of a reactionary enterprise. And then at the top, Mark Ember kept getting contracts because he did his job for his bosses, which are a group of university presidents who hired him. So in that sense, he was successful if not he would have been fired. And so I think it's really important whoever replaces him is somebody who can connect better with those who I think are more important going forward. The Greg staggies of the world, the other commissioners of the power 5, the top athletic directors, otherwise we're just going to keep spinning our wheels. You and I are going to have the same conversations and you're going to express those same sentiments that are very fair and that frustration will be held by many who love college athletics. Great conversation with Adam rittenberg. I have many, many facts. We started off talking about what's happening on the field and we lost sight of that because of all the mess that's going on off the field. Come back soon, really appreciate your time. "Agent today. Hey, welcome back. We went over this earlier. The Adam rittenberg piece and ESPN, but the best head coach hires in college in the last 5 years. That's the cutoff point. Let's bring in Adam rittenberg from ESPN. Always good to have you on Adam. Let's get to backstory on this piece, and then we'll go over how you landed on Luke fickle at number one. Good afternoon. Hey, good afternoon, Paul. As you know, we see pieces all over the web and sometimes copy them and there was a great one by our colleague on the NFL side Bill barnwell that took a very similar concept looking at the best hires in the NFL since the start of the 2017 season and I just basically took a similar template for the college level. So it's interesting is Kirby smart hired the year before. Matt Campbell and Iowa state hired the year before Scott frost was a really good hire at UCF, but that was in 2016. So this is only coaches from 17 onwards. So anyone hired after the start of the 2017 season. Obviously had some criteria there, some different breakdowns. Big part of it was what they inherited, Paul, some of these coaches inherited really good situations. Lincoln Riley and Ryan day. Others inherited really bad situations like Sam Pittman and Arkansas who I thought deserved to be part of the list. So I think it's understandable how you came up with the list. Where was the line of demarcation? I mean, I'm sure you agonized over a few that didn't make it. Right. There's a lot of good ones who did and Dave Aranda, for example, lane kiffin, which was right there. PJ flack at Minnesota has done a really nice job. I really tried to look heavily in some cases at what they inherited. So for example, I have Matt rule at Baylor really high on the list because we all remember the situation at Baylor before Matt arrived and even though he had two really poor season in an average season, he ended by taking that team to the big 12 championship game, which seemed unthinkable when he arrived. And so even though Dave Aranda did a great job in year two and winning the big 12, it wasn't as though he inherited a really bad program. Same thing with PJ fleck at Minnesota. They'd won, I think, 9 or ten games a year before he arrived. So even though he's done a good job, wasn't exactly a mess. Lincoln Riley and Ryan day, even though they inherited really good programs from bob stoops and urban Meyer, I think both have elevated them. I know some Oklahoma fans had questioned that in the wake of Lincoln's departure, but he did an outstanding job there in terms of quarterback development and getting them into the college football playoffs several times. Adam rittenberg with us, I was really struck by the Billy Napier inclusion because Florida fans are really excited by his hire there. What did you learn about what he did in Louisiana? Yeah, he did an outstanding job. Now, the thing to remember is Louisiana is one of the best, if not the best program in terms of resources and fan support in the sunbelt. So they had had some success there, but they had not done what Billy was able to do here the last three seasons with double digit win seasons. Beating some of these power 5 teams that he did. Making that you're truly one of the best programs in the group of 5. And so he was going to make this top ten. It was just a matter of where he slided right behind Ed orgeron who I'm sure you have some thoughts on. He was maybe one of the most interesting a candidates here, but Billy, just to take Louisiana from a good program, a well resourced program and make them the premier program in the sun belt right there with coastal Carolina here, the last couple of years. I just did an outstanding job and I think a reason why Scott Strickland was so aggressive in targeting Billy Napier and hiring him as a replacement for Dan Mullen and Gainesville. Yeah, you had coach O at number 5. I have a feeling a year ago. He would have been higher. But it is interesting to go back and reflect, you had Christoph, who's already taken a new job, I will lose his job, Napier, moving. Chad was on there. And I want to ask you about Jamie chadwell, because everybody always mentions his name in connection with jobs, but he stays the course. Tell us more about that. Well, ultimately, you do need a suit or you do need someone to want to hire you. But I also think he has some degree of loyalty to coastal Carolina, which brought him in with Joe moglia, and then he ends up replacing Mowgli. And engineering this incredible two year stretch with 22 victories. Your chatbot is an interesting guy, right? Has never worked at a power 5 school before. So that might make some athletic directors and others that are making the higher a little bit leery. He's a different guy, runs a very different offense. But I think can be an effective power 5 coach. Some people just want to see, hey, you've been to the big time before. You understand what the SEC is going to be like or the ACC just being in that region that he's coaching in..

"Kansas read good afternoon. What's up? Hey, I got one question for you. Curate, so we're the odds already in Alabama's favor from the national championship. Well, Alabama started last season number one in the favorite. You are correct. All right, but you think they would have been more favored if they would have won against the eggs because they only had that one loss, right? Yeah, I think. So I guess had Alabama beaten Texas a and M would anything have been different going into the Georgia game. No, because both teams would have still been able to lose the game and go to the playoffs. But it could have affected Alabama. Well, yeah, I think I understand your question. It could have affected Alabama's motivation, though, because they would not have Alabama was playing a desperate game. They had just survived almost almost impossible odds against auburn, so they had a lot of momentum going to the SEC game. Where Georgia really had almost nothing to prove. I know it was the SEC crown, but they knew they could afford a loss. And you wonder, does that affect you a little bit? Yeah. Well, thank you. Thank you. You call again. That's the 12 year old, isn't it? Yeah. One of the many 12 year olds they call the show. We're up against a break. "Field, I think the big 12 has a real opportunity to be a strong conference. If they continue to make investments. And that's what my Gundy and others were talking to me about for this piece that, hey, there's some momentum coming off of this season. We have to seize it and try to mitigate whenever those losses truly hit us in Oklahoma and Texas move on to the SEC. And let's talk about that, Adam, I'm sure nobody says anything specific or explicitly about that. But what do you hear about the departure of OU in Texas? And we know it's a conference commissioner say. And what is the schedule for the four other schools to join up and start playing? Sure. Well, bob always be the big 12 commissioner reiterated to me when we spoke that they will all be the new schools will all be in there no later than July 1st, 2024. Now there's a chance that they could get in for 2023. Depending on the three schools that are obviously in the American and their exit fees. So that part is fairly clear. The departures of Texas and OU, I think a lot of us thought there's no way it could go to 2025. They're going to be out of there earlier. And it could still happen, but I think the exit fees situation with Oklahoma is worth watching. And sources that I've been telling you talk to, say, they are not in a position at this point to pay what it would cost to leave right away or very, very soon from now. So it could be a bit of a tricky situation where the league goes from ten to 14 and then back to 12 and then maybe they expand again and add some more members. So the actual final number is going to be a little bit fluid here for the next few years. But I don't know Oklahoma is really out the door right away. Adam rittenberg joining us talking about his article on the big 12. Adam, let me bring this conversation a little closer to home. We are now on day 7 of the Brian harsh and watch at auburn. We saw him today for the first time. We didn't hear him. But he is still the auburn coach and I'm just asking you as somebody who's covered college football for a few years. Have you seen anything quite like this where our coach is literally hanging in the balance? Nobody is saying anything. And we really don't know anything. It's definitely unique just in the length of time between auburn and acknowledging that there is an investigation going on and the current place that we're at right now that there has not been a resolution and Brian Harrison took a previously scheduled trip and gave the staff basically the week off after signing day and is back on duty for now and doing his job as I guess as well as he can. It's a very uncomfortable situation to say the least. It's a hard situation to figure out how they go forward with him as the head coach and I think it's pretty clear what auburn is trying to do here. I don't know if they're going to be successful in terms of what they uncover in this investigation. I know from talking to people close to Brian harston that this is not going to they're not just going to lay down and walk out the door. So I can't imagine this going much more than another couple of days, Paul, but I also thought that we would have some news by this point. This was sort of seen as the deadline. How could they let a coach hanging like this go to the SEC meetings and represent the school, but they've obviously led him to do that. He's going to continue to do his job. Like he said until he told otherwise. Adam, in the event that he stays. Let me take this one first. What type of damage has been done? I mean, a lot of people, I've talked you think it's irreparable damage. Given that this has gone on the way. What are you going to say that we looked into things and everything's fine? And there's nothing to see here. And he's our coach and we support him. I mean, even if you did that, he would be on the hottest of seats just from a performance standpoint going into the 2022 season. And I did my hot seat list a few weeks ago and had him as sort of on that keep an eye on category because he was just in the second year. They still owe him a ton of money. It was a poor finish to the season, but it wasn't an absolute train wreck of a year for them. But now if you were to bring him back, anything short of a ten win season or an SEC west Division Championship and how would they move forward to how do you recruit? How do you plan for the future? You're so much of this to me Paul is about recruiting and maybe not fitting into what you have to be in the SEC this day or what auburn wants in its code from a recruiting standpoint. So how do you go forward with someone that you obviously have looked into, you're trying to dig up information on and if they're unsuccessful, it would just be a very awkward prolonged awkward situation as opposed to a short term awkward situation like we're in right now. Talking to them, yeah, I don't know. This is the kind of guy that could be sweating bullets at the auburn spring game. If the team doesn't look good, that's how dicey it would be. Let me ask you the final question here in the event that he goes. What type of coach do you think auburn could bring in here at this late date? It's still a very attractive job to people because it's much drama as auburn has had Paul and you know this over the years. I mean, they've undercut pretty much every coach since pat die and yet there's still a team that is won a national championship in recent memory. They've played for a national championship. They've beaten Alabama very few teams can say that they've beaten Alabama in the SEC west recently auburn has done that. And so it still has some attraction to it, but I think anyone who comes in would be concerned about these issues. Can I unite everybody? Will I have the support of boosters? The first time that I fail or my team fails, are they going to be doing the same thing to me? Is there doing to Brian harston looking into the program? Those are all and I've talked to coaches about this that might be in the mix. Those are all valid questions. So they think they would need somebody with SEC ties. They would need somebody who understands how to recruit in this league. They could not go the outside or out. Whatever they bring in, I think would have to have some degree of concern or incredible confidence in himself to be able to bring this together and not have this situation repeat itself because history says it will repeat itself. Yes. It usually does. Adam rittenberg, thanks for the time, Adam rittenberg, joining us from ESPN the national college football writer. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast..

Our city is still the coast Paul. Oh, you know what we got. You know what we got going on, Paul. This is JJ all over again, all. This is exactly what I tried to do atomic time reveal. They waited. They knew that man was going on vacation, okay? They didn't have the balls to break it up while he was there. They wanted he was out of country and tried to slither their way through and cost him his job, but you know what? I applaud all the university for finally standing up for the university, okay? And showing that these boosters, I mean, you know, we're going to do our own investigation, okay? We're in a bar. We're going to do our own investigation. And I think right now what you're seeing Paul, I think you're seeing the universe that kind of flicks their muscles a little bit. Later everybody know that, especially boosters that you don't run this program. You don't run this university. We appreciate your money. If you do not run the university, and let me say this. And Paul, coming out of that coach's movie. Cameras, I'm and out the way we poke the hole in his face. I pull they got two for not taking one of them cameras and sticking it down wondering what I wish he had. I kind of wish he'd grab one of those camera guys and just slammed him into the wall. I like you the serial killer. He's healed so much. There's 20 cameras to blade on that man when he walks outside. Poking them all in his face and asking him questions like, are you sticking with me to overcoat? I mean, I like his killed somebody. Give it coming good lord a man is job is on the line and that's how he's going to be treated by the media. I mean, come on. I understand I got a story that got it right, but there's got to be a better way of going about doing it than that way. I would say, well, Paul, he's going to remain hit those ball. He's going to remain the head coach. This was Jackie all over again. This was sent to try to do trouble Bill. They went behind this guy's back, trying to get him fired, dude. It's going to be out of country. You're not worth our Paul Brown horse and all he remains the coach because I think when it's all said and done, you know, if they support him, like they should, I think he's probably going to be successful, I think he's got the right idea. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. We just played a cut of a guy named Dale from Boise Idaho. We're getting a lot of the media attention here. And indicated that man could be related to coach harsh and maybe even his father whose name is Dale and Liz and Boise Idaho. We went back and listened to the tape earlier. And it pretty well speaks for itself. Anyway, we will move on. And meanwhile, before we get to admiral, the SEC is just announced, it is distributed 700 and 78 .8 million dollars to its member institutions. That's roughly 50 four million a school. 10 million more than last year and remember, this is before the new ESPN contract goes fully into effect. It just means more money. Adam rittenberg joining us, Adam is with ESPN and writing today about the big 12, a conference that many gave last rites last summer when Oklahoma and Texas flew the coop. Adam, I read your piece and I was wondering what happened. I thought I thought the big 12 was done. How did you resurrect him so quickly? Well, I think a lot of us thought that Paul, but there's a couple of things that have gone on. I think since then, since that late July with Oklahoma and Texas leaving the league that have been positive and mainly, they had a very good season. Obviously, didn't make the college football playoff, but went 5 and two in the bowls had both of their championship game participants who are going to be with the league long term, win their new year's 6 games and finish in the top ten and Baylor and Oklahoma state. And then I think a lot of the excitement is about the future members who in a combined 44 and ten during the season Cincinnati obviously made the playoff Houston and BYU and UCF all had solid seasons and have had solid season. And so I think when you look at this league on the field in the future and you look back ten 15 years in terms of winning percentage, there's a lot of teams in the top 25 nationally in winning percentage, including Oklahoma state, which is sitting there at number ten. So while there's certainly questions, you just mentioned the revenue for the SEC, the big 12 is not going to be pulling in that type of revenue. So that's a question. Branding and so forth..

He apparently met women online and Both of them stiffed him wine. I'll did you get gin. Social media straightened out. No i thought we had. Jim straightened l. but Marches told me that he called off the air equipped to show again. So i don't. I don't know what your oh including our did you get. I'm in another bottle of doors. They yeah no i did. I got that worked out all right. All right i'm gonna go to football question here and ask as a fad loyal as long as the day is long powell. If for some reason the line train rose over the saving whatever the is do. I have a right to feel better as a razorback fan evolve. Fan or vol sam's or misunderstanding. I don't care about the razorback. Hokey hitler about the razorback. Yeah i guess so. how's that help evolves fan out. It don't help us out at all. But paul are bitterness. Is all we these days. But you know that you're an alum come. On god's bitterness whatever understood the bitterness toward lane he better. I'm not bitter about lying mind to drain job. God blessing. Anybody would have done what anybody says they wouldn't have done. What writing does did. They're not a true professional really carried to extremes. Hey thank you for the call. Do appreciate it. Sky is in birmingham. Hey sky sky their job. Why anybody would gotta gotta gotta be ready to go here. Fred is up next in arkansas. Hey fred how first of all. I'll like apologize you for something i said to you. Get kicked out of christian brothers school okay. I understand why you had to leave chris. Rutherford house to go to white station. And i'm very sorry. And i wanted to politized but i also want to ask you a question. Have you ever seen a college. Football team turnaround way to raise. Facs have in two years. I'm a s unreal. I've been drinking a little beer to and i've got the feeling that welcome they charge you by three. What do you think first of for. Don't don't don't give my high school career a second thought okay. I'm long password ever happened. I i agree with you and i wish i was joining you for that beer right now. I mean if arkansas loses the rest of the games. I still think it's been a good season. That's how dramatic a turnaround. This has been for san pippen. Well i just really think we're gonna win my three. I have a vision. I've got a vision to And i and i. I don't see a lot of course my eyesight. It's not that great. But i don't see the my vision when it comes to the razorback. Saturday is not quite the same as yours. Hey thanks for the call appreciate it. Let's let's go to big t in tennessee. A hell of a big brother. Hey there are you doing. We're doing this is my first time calling. I've been listening to you for watching it for a long time. And others been liberty. And i thought i'd just shell and this is regarded as old medicine. Alabama game coming up here. Sure i tune to watch Some highlights and stuff with Career with a movable and didn't also. Today i saw running. I saw the quarterback doing a lot of running a lot of run touchdown quarterback dole touchdowns. He's received a not getting open or not that. Good now we talked about alabama alabama slipping or. What have you watched the game against wash the whole game. What if. I know if if we all be full. But what if if sleigh heading missed that touchdown zone. What if the to the tight end had put the other foot down on the back end of the in zone. That's fourteen points right to. My point is alabama made their own mistakes themselves. There wasn't anything of florida. Did but the you and all this hype up the kittens. Don't do this. And that. I saw the defense in defense. Ole miss wasn't impressed dos. I frankly think the game comes down to the defense. And i think adam mentioned it and others have as well i mean. Both offenses are fantastic. That's not the issue. The the issue is can ole miss stop alabama and i. I don't think alabama can stop matt very well but you this. This is the kind of game where you don't need many stops. You just need you but you do need them. Yeah now additions that alabama has acquired during off seats and williamson has come in and four strain allows to hit was three or four strings. Yeah and and this guy comes in and shine off to bet the continuity that he has already created with the team. I really messy. He's list so coming out the gate right now. I i i fully expect a different alabama defense Satan related to today. A toto was was was sick during the game. I think there were some other iss- issues. I'll be shocked. This alabama defense doesn't play much higher higher caliber than they did in the swamp. We're an hour away from lane kiffin..
