"So we'd always have that championship season. I remember what was one where to drink. And we always take scenes where we're fucking getting drunk 'cause you're allowed to do it. And if that was part of the scene. So we'd have to wall back bud cans thug. And then we'd be fighting and shit. So it was great. And I remember to teach a call south like every scene, you guys, do you guys are drinking, and I'm like, if we could drink at school. How fucking great is that? My buddy had a bad tooth. My buddy, Kevin. He had a bad tooth, and he bought a an eight pack of bud nips into class, and he didn't want to go to the dentist. So he's drinking in the back of the class is bud nips to kill the pain in college. And nobody sending you had the hey background on the table member not bud nips. I love the stuff I could think grace six case you got six eight packs of the case. Yeah. Six fucking backs by God. I love those nips either who had a better one course, quote ahead, the little ones to the little cans, six ounces. Oh, yet a little. Yeah, I'm fucking freeze them. They would stay cold and you could just down in one and eight bit. I hate it be back then. Really? That's all we drag out by an eight pack of cause and just crack it and just drinking one fuck and sip. Didn't even taste like been. That's why I always love Colorado. When I pay the causal might what is. I gotta get out the fucking Colorado. They know what to do. Lice day. So, but why Budweiser makes the eight ounce? Nips Bila may them to yet. I did Miller was fucking horrible, horrible bid, but the best beer I used to like nips low brow mall, brow, brow USA. Make what that ten foil on the fucking cap. So good friends tonight is kind of special our brow. So what the fuck you doing town really cranking yet crank axes coming back after twelve years on comedy central. That's cool. How we had to run from two thousand to two thousand seven it got cancelled. On with you. Jimmy Kimmel Adam Karol. They started this show because they were they were on the man show at the time. So the man show is kicking ass on comedy central and they go. Hey, we have an idea to do prank calls recreating puppets. So that gave him sick comedy central game six episodes, right off the bat, guaranteed them, which is rare before it even guy. And then they heard my shit on Howard Stern because I had these prank calls said mess around telemarketers, he was playing. We want that dude to be on our show. And I remember my manager telling me go. Hey, man. They want this new show on comedy central going to make prank calls, what puppets, and they like your calls part of it. I'm like that's fucking. That's probably the worst idea ever alls. I thought about is my comic friends making fun of me. I'm going to be on the show. It's gonna be fucking horrendous. He's like, look the guaranteed six all do it, but I'm gonna get buck and shit. That's all I thought and the show just took off. And I was the only unknown comic to do it. Everybody, you know, they just heard my shit like you know, who Sarah Silverman, Jimmy, Adam Corolla, Dave ship health, Tracy more. Morgan Wanda Sykes, Dane, Dennis Leary. David L Kevin Neal. And I was like, like I was plucked out of obscurity, at that time an buck in my career took off from that just from making prank calls. I could be wrong, but that was like my high of colleague comedy central back then was the channel. It seemed like it was used because we're on right after south park right before John Stewart. So it was a perfect spot on Tuesday nights. That was a big big show. I love that show. So, yeah. Twelve years later, they just decided it's going to come back. Twenty episodes comedy, central jobs out here, the fuck twenty episodes. So I just did a recording session. Just the other day out here, I'm going to go back through some more, but because I do two characters on the show, so fucking great. I'm like, I'm a middle aged man making prank phone calls..

You should get into the ones of people who sound the most. Like what they're doing? Mike quick, the great wide receiver for the eagles are Jonathan quick. The great goalie for the LA kings, Jonathan quick. That's a great name for a guy like that the British ause a great name for an offense wall. You can't get around. Yes, precisely I thought this was a good idea. If we may proceed Dylan planes with your with your permission. I'd like to say the most ironic one he's Larry play fair who back, I think it was in the late seventies he led the NHL in penalty minutes play fair. Fair. How excellent is that? That is ironic..

"Brand new episodes. Good sports damage Shak here. Adam Karol over there. Let's talk about you. Keep your eye on the biz busy. Yes. So you're familiar with the Mitri. It's mighty mouse Johnson. Sure question, then we talked about this. I think semi famously at least I think little bit ludicrously. I I don't pull punches. I don't jive you. I have too much respect for you. Remember, I floated the before after you Jimmy Kimmel had returned from dodgers training camp one year because Tommy Lasorda told you like I would add you could add eighteen I could've turned into big leaguer. And you believed him on that. No, no. He didn't say that. When we return from the dodgers from Vero beach to try out. He said that some years later on my radio show in front of you. Is that what it was? You protested wildly. It was. Because you couldn't be a big league ball player. But do not spin it into I came back. Tommy slap me on the ass cheek and one hey, good job girl. And then I came back and one time, and I think I think Tommy Lasorda likes to rub elbows with with the Hollywood glitter ATI. That's right. It was doing it with you man, trying to and was trying to make you feel good and say could've turned you into a big leaguer their Adam Corolla, he he we tried out at Vero beach Jimmy night. Did we had fun going through all the paces shaggy balls in the outfield even gotten to like a? Preseason game. You actually Pedro Martinez is less successful, brother. Ramon martinez. I think pitch to you. Pedro stasi's. Oh that was it to me. Good call, and I never just remember that name Pedro dossier. But anyway, he threw heat anyway. We did we went through batting practice and all the running the bases and all all the junk. And Tommy didn't say Jack squat to me because Tommy the mmediately played along with how horrible we were. And what am Barrasso? We were to uniform key. Got it those who think there's comedy in it always bothered me. When whenever we deconstruct the man shows, guys, just chugging beer and all the ladies love them. You think ladies would really love you. If you weren't in the man Joe, or if you didn't pay them or whatever it is like, no, there's no comedy in success. Right success. Is we try out for the dodgers Tommy Lasorda yells at us the entire time. It calls us pathetic. That's where the comedy is. The comedy is not getting the girl. The comedy is not getting the girl. And so we always knew that. And the irony of Jimmy Kimmel forty pounds sixty pounds heavier than he is now. Getting look at you all surrounded by women. Yeah. That's the irony. Yeah. Of course, he wouldn't be. I mean, chivvy you think women are gathering around to hang out with Jimmy Kimmel, and Adam Corolla, please wake up. So we always knew that was the comedies over you. Look at any of the stuff we did if it was wrestling camp. Then we got the shit kicked out of us. And if it was trying out with the dodgers we shocked or trying to have the raiders getting knocked over, you know, blown up blown off the water. So we knew that all the way through. But in Lasorda never said, anything pro or con at the time. He just he just did con-. He just made fun of. But a later many years later I had to be four or five years later, plus the heathen came on our morning show, and I was not fishing around with him for compliments or doing anything. He just. He just revealed it, and then you want banana because Razi, and you're you're a better athlete by a lot. They than the median level grownup man in America. But you're still not getting in there against ninety eight mile our heating and hitting more than once in a blue moon. But anyhow, we'll never know David. Shea to show. He Tommy sad..

I did it was this new body or that maybe they made they made just one of them gets the most expensive new car ever showed. Yes. New nineteen million. So what are the payments on that like two or three hundred thousand a month? You can't afford. Let's be happy that we've got this ball like, you know, once a year. There's that stupid news story where it's like a man Hatton bar has made a MARTINI for one million dollars. Your regular MARTINI with a nine hundred ninety nine thousand dollars. Sent diamonds. Yeah. That is the way that they. Nobody can eat it. Chevy vega. Five million dollars five billion dollars in the. Billion dollars. What is the most that you spend? Because you're a collector, what is the most that you spend for a car or point eight million dollars, really? Yes. Higher expected a little lower like baby three hundred thousand what kind of car. Do you get for four point eight million? It's a bone stock. Million dollars. Hey, I was historic. That's gotta be. That's I'm guessing that's a that's a car linked to some history that you're tight on or something like that. Or no. I mean like owned by somebody you know, what I'm saying pedigree. Terrowi- bought for my stepson. Here's what investigative journalists. I mean as somebody owned before you. You know? I don't know. Hey, my good. I'll tell you why. They did. Paul Paul Newman nine thirty five four shots. About an apology. That's great. And he won Lama the biggest race in the world and at and those cars are expensive. Wow. See I have a different experience. But Paul I just get into gestion from his sauce. Oh, yeah. Spaghetti sauce is crap. Gatty? Yeah. That's the worst. He was a great. You know, what you don't be super popular about. Now. Let's organize a boycott. All every dollar goes to charity. All we can do is. You know, we're complaining about complaining about. Yeah. Hey, I was thinking about you a couple weeks does a staying in a hotel, and I always bring my own heinekens because I don't like paying nine dollars for one from the mini bar, and they don't have an opener in the room. So I'm going around the room. Banging it on all the furniture trying to open it. And literally, I think it was you that said something like this maybe wasn't what it looked like when I left the hotel room after two days it look like a beaver lived their chips taken out of all the furniture. Why wouldn't somebody just stick a forty nine cents can openers bottle opener in the room? You know? I'm sorry. My phone cut off. But I'm back now. Oh, it was brilliant. Hey, I'm also whenever I listened to to the rants that you do with. They're all they're all great. But whenever I'm in a position, I want to reach out to you. Sometimes he can rip some of these a holes, I drove through Taco Bell not talk about Japanese box about a month ago. And you know, what if you get up on the screen? You can see what the car in front of you had ordered. If you get up there quick enough. Right. And the guy in front of me ordered forty three dollars worth of Jack in the box through the crew. He bought the building. Look, you spend more than four Jack in the box, and you walk out of there. They've got to limit that, man. They've got to also heard you talking about your house up and your old house up in the hills that the city made you retrofitted, and you said that house has been there since nineteen twenty it's been through a lot of earthquakes you didn't move it two years ago from Las Vegas. Yeah. I never this whole notion of like wearing earthquake country. Always bothered me because there's like craftsman homes from nineteen eighteen in Pasadena that have seen every they've survived dirigible. Dirigible flying over there Rosenthal, and they're still around and they're so Tako plants and no, no. Dale shear-wall wall. And no nailing. Get down Rangers. No, all right. "To a brand new episode. Good sports, Dave Amazon here. Adam Karol over there ace where we left off yesterday. We were about to jump in on talking about the so-called alliance as a maybe that's the first stroke of good fortune or good decision making by the organizers of this league because maybe they the other ones fail because they all end in L, and you all know that it's something less than NFL in your head. This distinguishes it right out of the gate people call it. Now the alliance. I mean, I don't know. But anyway, that you find yourself taking a look at this the first few handful of games where you know, how they say. Like a lot of these guys are hooked on the opiates, and they're doing a lot of Oxycontin. And now the government has cracked down on the Oxycontin and the can't get their former suitable grade stuff. So they started. Snorting heroin. That's come in from Mexico mixed with fennel. That's what this is for me. I'd like I need a fix. Sure. You know, look I'd like to high-grade a pharmaceutical stuff. But beggars can't be choosers. She'll take what you got a cop a high, man. Yeah. Getting the shakes that. I find myself just watching guys playing football again. It's like the Mexican heroin with the little stepped down laxative like it's better than get having detox just call up. Yeah. Call it the NFL, maybe the methadone football. That's what it is. It's come down. It's basically what it is. It's greased..

"Dave damage Shakir Adam Karol over there as we've been going through some rules changes in pro football. And it really all goes back to how easy it would be too. Though, we aren't supposed to notice that that the technology exists the same way that you, and I could text each other back and forth or in real time. Get each other on the phone if an offensive coordinator can talk to Hayes QB from the from the coaches booth, then surely someone in New York City a wherever else can be looking at a replay in real time. And be like, hey ref. You got that one wrong just reverse that one, you know, the idea that they're like, well, it's not reviewable the game would take too long. How much longer would it take say? No, no, no. That wasn't holding. That was I just let that one go. Okay. Never mind. Pick up the flag down. That's how long it would say. They have the uncatchable ball. Right. Right. So they have the well he interfered or the guy but the pass was so far over his head. He would've never got it anyway. And I think we can all agree that that's pretty satisfying. All right. Who cares if the guy wrapped him up he wouldn't have caught the ball because it was such a bad pass uncatchable? Could we have a version of the uncatchable ball, which is the non impact? Yes. I lag. Yes, we've seen it a million times where guy takes it to the house on a punt return only to see that. There was a bad holding call that other side Lille contact where what he didn't even touch. No on the other side on the other the safety on the other side of the field. Sometimes. Sometimes there's a move where the gunner will overrun the punter the punt receiver. The guy receives the punt the guys out on the corner, the gunner that guy takes off he's out run. The coverage out run his own coverage and somebody'll push him in the back as he say sometimes as he passes the guy the punt receiver collects the ball on the forties. Immediately starting forward. This guy's clearly overrun it. Somebody pushed him in the back, and they called the legal block. And it's coming all the way back or sometimes it's an interior linemen. And he's trying to set the corner. And the throne sweep it happened last week. I believe when we're the week before during a playoff game where they converted a third down, and it was a crucial penalty, and it had to come back and tear your line. He would've got around that guy would never made the tackle barely hooked him. Just the notion that this play can't affect the game. I hear you. And there is something to you can really make yourself Batty with what is the motivation of referee to to take that on as a profession because you don't just decide at fifty two. Yeah. You know, what I think I'm going to NFL refereeing or or big brain college football referee, and you have to decide to do that at a relatively early age and work your way up and I asked the question what kind of person who chooses that is there as as their trade in life. You get one go round on earth. And you wanna you wanna fishy eight you wanna be a rule where you want to be a lunch lady to is that what else you wanna do with your time? I wanna to rule over others feel the same way about prison guards and publicists really. That's all you do is ruined people's lives. We had the the publicists ax to grind. But. Yeah, hate publicist. I hate prison guards. I I mean, I don't hate prison guards. I hate publicist, but who would want to be a prison guard. That's my thing. I mean, it's kind of cool. But it's like you want some juice, and you and I could see it's the same thing..

"Yeah, I guess it reminds me I guess could be as a podcast or reminds me of this whole patent trolling around podcasting. A while ago where there were podcasters whose entire business was threatened by one patent troll who happened to say, oh, I invented with the podcast is in. Here's my patent around it in threatened. Adam Karol is business and Mark Marins business and had to spend a lot of time fighting it. So it is unsurprising that companies would want to pay for a solution that just takes this risk off the table, or at least makes it a a very small risk. Right. Well, again, our message cheer is not. To spread fear. And that's one of the things that I am kind of hate about the marketing around especially around things like open source compliance solutions is is it seems like the digital marketing says, hey, look at all the stuff that you have to be afraid of the afraid of open source and our message, especially as an open source project south, as you know, don't be afraid of open source and an open source of mazing, something you have to use regardless and instead embrace it be good at using it and use tools that can automate and manned just kind of risk at scale instead of having your legal team manually audit, this kind of stuff. So one thing you're implying here is that when you find a repository on get hub or in PM, the you wanna use and you bring it into your software. There is a multiplicity of different licenses that that software that could potentially be under. There's there's L G P L, and I don't know all the acronyms, but. You could tell me about some of the ways that the licenses vary even though all of these projects may be open source. How do the licenses vary? Right. So there's a couple of major categories of licenses and for for all intensive purposes. I think that most people care about whether they just can use it nothing about it or whether they have to really really consider whether they can use this license or not. And so inside of the open source world, the two most important categories are permissive and copy last and so her missive licenses basically say, hey, you can pretty much use us for whatever purposes as long as you give some, you know, minor attribution or something like that or a good and the copy left licenses usually say you have to use us. But you're obligated to make sure that this code stays open. So they'll have things inside of it like the GPL's very famous for saying, hey, if he uses GPL software while it has to be incorporated into other. Soffer? That's also GPL an open source. So the copy left futures, basically tried to perpetuate the open source of whatever is integrated into and for tons of reasons this can be very problematic for businesses that want to protect your IP. But that's just that's general side on that category. And the permissive licenses are very open inside of the open source averse, and when I say that I don't mean open source licensed projects, but just things on get hub. And then PM and all these registries, you'll also find a bunch of other really creative licensing schemes to you'll find a ton of source available licenses which aren't open source licenses. They're licensed that preserve some of the features of open source like having code availability, but will choir payment or licensing, if a certain threshold is met you'll find a bunch of other proprietary types of licensing schemes and also just tons of unlicensed code in general. And so there's just a lot of different kinds of licensing schemes, many of them have different compatibility issues. And so a lot of. Licenses aren't fully compatible with a lot of the Khyber left, or proprietary licenses. So those are all some examples of thanks to God for there are people listening right now who are minutes away from turning off the podcast because they're thinking this is not interesting to me at all this is like license management..

"Podcast, one sports, Dave damage. Shakir Adam Karol over there. Ace we were talking yesterday. We got sidetracked as usual, but we were talking about the senses, the five senses and which one you feel you could do without bring everybody up to speed. If they missed yesterday's episode, you said feel touch. You need it. I don't want to lose any of them, but now the others are more important than that one. In my estimation, I think as much as I would miss the sweet smell of meat on a grill, fresh cut grass, things like that. I think smell is the one you can do without the only thing like you said yesterday is you can smell your own wounds of they've become infected, but nothing else and you wouldn't. If your house is on fire, you might not smell that well, but you also could avoid like what happened to me at Heathrow, which is I went into London about five years ago, the endless line over everyone had clear customs, and the customs line is just sort of sort of endless if you hit it at the wrong time at serpentine and it goes on for an hour or more. Also, there's a weird thing too, which is. It's funny the human wiring, you know, I'm going into London either just play a show, pay some taxes and go home or ten like the Goodwood festival. But when you're waiting in line and we don't know if we're going with customer number one or custom customs agent number to certain point, feel sweat and your palm, then you think yourself keep it cool, and then you realize I feeling anything I've been holding. I'm not holding. I'm not here to off the prime minister. I'm not doing any just going through the customs. There's a little element of, oh, it's a surprise inspection on me. That is funny. Yeah, you're right about that. They feel that. That anxiety, but yet it's, I also love the other side of that that I mean, I'm trying to think of how many it seems like it's usually athletes at this happens to I think it happened to Barry Switzer. I don't know. I don't want to put that on somebody who didn't do this, but I'm pretty sure it was Barry Switzer the head coach at some point, these going through security and they have a gun in their bag, and I completely forgot. I had that in there. How comfortable you hold your, your heater, that this is what you're doing. The, you're going through guy having many athlete, many rapper, and Plaxico famously, but that was a club, but it is a weird thing that the casualness. Gun for some people. Like this thing was my medicine bag. I didn't. I didn't know it was a kit like, oh, well, you really do travel with guns. But the sense of smell I went to Heathrow some years ago, I got behind big dude with big dreads, big, mammoth dreads. And you talk about smell no one ever said, hey, man, wash your forehead. It's stinks because it really doesn't hold anything, but the hair the hair to a stench for you. Yes, it's the, it's the transporter of funk and your nose, your eyelids, your ear lobes, like none of that smells, but your hair that hair will grab whatever your life is. It's in your hair. It's sort of. Yeah, that's right. You know, it's that. When I used to do construction after like work on people's apartment units and stuff like that when they open the door, you get your first whiff of their lifestyle because especially during the winter months when running a space heater and they kind of run it a little too much little too hot and the door opens and you go from the ambient hall smell to them. And it's like, I got a little cat in there. Got a little, doesn't shower lot in there. Got a lot of little cokes with lard all this kind of welcomes through from, you know, I come from eastern European roots as you do and there's that there's that decided eastern European food smell that emits from from Grammy and Papi's house when I would go over there and then like you say, if you have a pet, you can smell the pet. And if there's a smoker in the house, you can smell that..

"Shakir Adam Karol over there as we're on a roll people. You know, the skeptics out there said you guys don't talk enough sports. We've done nothing but talk about. Yeah, for the last couple of weeks, almost not sports in general about football, and then Tange gingerly we get into some auto racing and so on. Can I say this, you guys play a hate us right? But they say play a hater, but they should be play 'hada think insist because there's an and player or should be player hater, but it shouldn't be play a haters. You know what? I like, what you're doing, their taste that play a hater because ace Corolla just took you down, took the play a hate as down, tad taste, that medicine means good. Does it hate us either one? Yeah. Well. Either be a play hate. I got it. Yeah, you know, who else agrees with me on that? Who's that fifty cent. You're so fifty. No, I'd say Gary, does I it? I'm hip. It's not fifty. No fitting Finney, right right sent. There's another word to that. Wow. I'm not gonna get into that one. Don't be not be a play. No, no way. Not gonna get into any of that. I have some more football stuff that we could talk about. I don't wait request here, coming in from from our own porcelain punisher. Matt fund Lear asks ace that you win play show this. I know we have done this before, but it's always good time to talk about food win, play, show pancakes, waffles French, toast, go. Trying to trying to break this one down. Now pancakes are great. A tape paint kicks her great when they're little bit thinner and I know this sounds bizarre but have a little rubbery texture till gift to pull on him a little bit. They don't just fall apart and I don't cake in fluffy, just a little thinner. There's nothing better than buttering up pancakes when you have the lumberjack stack. And you know if you slide the Pat of butter in between the two God will do the rest in on. I mean, you don't have to move around or spread it around. Waffles are excellent, but take in butter too. It's like sewing going. What's you butter up that snow tire. It's gonna take all day. I know way I cannot think of a surface less hospitable to receiving an even coat of butter than a waffle. Hold on. Okay. It's kind of a weird kind of a weird thing that we go like, hey, what's better for breakfast than waffles with butter and serpent it and you go now thin. What's physically impossible to spread butter on waffles. Hold the phone waffles. You'd have a smooth side to accept butter minute. I would. I would. We know what I would do flip it over. I would butter it up on one side then flip it back and sure it'd sherpa it up now the pockets, all the dividend for the Serb because look, there's nothing better. Then when you take a bite of the waffle that got the butter stuck in it and you got that huge pocket of butter and right next to it's a pocket of, but understand that ain't all the pockets. They'll be something else on the other side of the waffle that did not receive butter and in even handed fashion. French toast is a little weird to me. It's it's good. I don't have. It is great. I've never had it as great if I'm thing I've ever ordered it for what that's worth. I never given full complement of options on my breakfast menu at when I'm out and about. I never go French. Sounds good. It sounds good. I have it as a show on this one. It's it's a bronze. It's bronze, and it's it's, it's an easy bronze. I don't now that the conundrum is the waffle before you go, may I weigh in here with your hokum one I've said, I never been rider. People who choose to eat a green apple in a world that has ripe, red apples available for your consumption. Why would anyone choose to get the flat pancake then?.
