"Own 35 yard line after the missed 53 yard field goal tribe. I'm a court cats lead it 73 Let's get a win trust sideline report from Adam Hogue, Wintrust official bank, the northwestern Athletics and Chicago's back at him. What we've seen The wind. Certainly mess with some of the kick So far in this game, it is howling out of the north, but I've noticed it has affected play calling as well. Illinois hardly threw the ball in the first quarter, but they just had their first possession of the second with the wind at their back and brain and Peter's try some shots downfield. So now that cats are going against the wind And we'll see how that affects your questions. Play calling is a good thing that they established the run on their last drive. Well, we'll see if they can keep it going to get 91 yards rushing. They had 17 yards passing so far in the game. Most of that 17 yards. Came in the first quarter. In fact, on one player, 15 Yard passed him a gallon and then the other two came on the touchdown pass. Our two man Jerry on the first play of this quarter, and if we know how big the wind played when we were at Iowa to where the cats took the win in the fourth quarter, it's very important is it? All right. Wildcats come up to the line, 1st and 10 for their own 35 yard line. Ramsey and the shotgun. Makes the gift takes it himself out to the 40 weaves his way to the 45 takes the slide takes a shot. They'll market at the 45 1st down windows out of the north, now at 19 Miles an hour but a first down on the ground for the Wildcats. Removed the change, guys. Have not moved the chains first down and 10 from the 45 yard line. Maybe he's short. Was a throw to the near side my gallon to catch at midfield, then driven back by Witherspoon, but a first down for the Wildcats. Now they're gonna move the chains. To me. That was not a first out. What? It was second out, so it wasn't their fault. The down indicator. They one of the officials signaled.

"Right? So We get a look at the replay and 1 FT in I had 1 ft into the of control of the ball. That's the questions right there. He gets it in his arms put down. I think it's Zoe Catch. Let's see. But again. The ruling on the field is an incomplete pass. The end of the half. Adam Hogue will talk to coach Pat Fitzgerald 77 the score here. And the Wildcats with a third in four at their own 44. At the moment unless this play is overturned. And Ramsey can looking like he knows exactly. Anticipation with awareness that kind of really good job. Here comes the call. Thought. We're still waiting is our referee Reggie Smith is Taking a look like crew upstairs. Nice grab, though. My gallant boy. How good has he been so far as had five catches? In both the Wildcat road games against Iowa and Purdue is also run the ball very well. When they love to put him in check motion. They love the bring him across the The back of that formation and He said. He's a great threat. He's got great game speed. He's got great hands, and they're taking a long time looking at this one. They are I again the ruling on the field incomplete. It's go to Adam Home with the winter a sideline report. Well, the interesting thing about this review guys in time, It's gonna be first down, Adam. Excuse me. They're resetting the change. "Defense's, But yet you are going to say we're going to be physical and we're gonna run the ball and you know what? It's like. We don't even care. We don't even try and Are off. It's It's almost like the opposition. There's no commitment day. Yeah, and it's at the end of the day. Their defense doesn't feel like they've been in a hard fought football game. You know, it's it's It's bizarre, and that may be okay for Cincinnati are Arizona, but Aziz. They've just said, we are legendary As you call it, the footing and foundation franchise on NFL you bet, and we've always forever in a day. Been physical and black and blue was our trademark colors. We didn't hit nobody this year. We're not beating people up, and you know what, So much of the time it starts when you sell out and you make your mind up to run the ball. And yet Nagy doesn't want to do it and when the rest of the offense is almost comatose Play action game is almost always achievable. If you can get a running game going and you be physical, but we've never even got that far down the road to try it because we we don't even have any idea of how to run the football. Will you look at all the good teams stand They run good and they passed. Good. And what is the biggest thing you could ask? I'll tell you what you go ask Aaron Rodgers. Like all your different you have set passes. You have set runs or whatever, What is the most play that you have a lot of success on and you and you can't wait to get it going? It doesn't happen right from the beginning your running game going, It's the bootleg folks. It's the boat Lake Watch All watch Patrick Mahomes watch even Tom Brady at his age Now watching what did they do? Bootleg? Why they've got a running game. Do you see us Bootleg? Once in a blue moon to see us bring out next to never You see us? Move the pocket. Next whenever you've got to get Pulls out of the pocket. When you have a line that's hurting the way we heard you got a slide that line and you gotta move that pocket. You've got to get that kid time to figure out what's moving. You got to give him time for our receivers to get separation. With the way it's going now with your people we've got in there blocking your offensive line. We're going to get killed. If you drop backdrop backdrop back every pass play. It's we're going to get killed. You've got to diversify. You've got to go strong, weak side. You gotta move the pocket. You got a boat like you got to spread out. Do we ever see that? We don't And that's one way that we could get down the field and we could put points on the board doing what we're doing. We are going nowhere. We can't even convert on third down, folks. It's just effect to out of 15 this last week against the worst third down defence in the National Football League, the Tennessee Titans And we converted two times out of 15. Give me a break. Well, your case in point was in the second quarter Folds does try naked bootleg. And yet the outside linebacker rushes up the field and sack seem because there was no run threat. There was no reason for the linebacker. Look down inside. Exactly the easiest play in the history of football. A 30 Adam Hogue is coming on up here happen. Trump Takes on Vaping: A Ban on Flavored E-cigarettes

"Vaping industry is bracing for a major crackdown. The trump administration is moving toward a ban on flavored flavored cigarettes that are especially popular with teenagers. This comes after hundreds of cases of vaping related illness and at least six deaths across the United States dates. Let's bring in our senior. Medical correspondent Elizabeth Cohen Elizabeth. How significant is this announcement today. From the White House well off. This is for sure a very significant announcement antismoking advocates. Tell me that they really think that this could make a big difference. Basically what the administration is saying. Those candy flavored fruity flavored mitzi flavored e cigarettes that have been so popular among young people that they will ban them. There is one important note after they banned them companies such as jewel. Which is the big player here. They're allowed to apply to the FDA to try to re market them. Put them back on the market. So there is a possibility disability. They could come back the advocate say boy. We hope that the administration makes it clear that the answer to all of those applications will be no all of this news is on the heels. This is really awful news over the past couple of weeks the CDC says some four hundred possible vaping related illnesses across the country and Clinton also in addition addition to that six deaths. Most of these have been among really pretty healthy young people. I understand Elizabeth. You had a chance to speak to an eighteen year old. WHO's vaping habit. It almost cost him his life right. We met with Adam Hogue and rigor in Illinois. He was a healthy sixteen. Year old was doing great athletic athletic. He started vaping first vaping regular vapes and then he started doing marijuana vaping and the all of a sudden at age eighteen became desperately desperately. Ill I had this shivers and I couldn't control it so I ran the convulsion and and it was really scary I knew it. It wasn't a stroke but it felt like that because I couldn't control myself now. We've been hearing about these illnesses from so many people wolf all from these are healthy young people who after vaping end up sometimes in the intensive care unit on ventilators because they can't breathe on their own. It's a bit of a mystery. What exactly is it in these vapes that is causing these illnesses and are they at least cigarettes only in certain kinds. That's what the CDC and others are trying to figure out now. There are so many different chemicals in e cigarettes which ones exactly are causing these problems very important announcement from the White House today Elizabeth Cohen. Thank you very much for

"And great beer. It's all new Chicago's best brew pups spending at ten on WGN TV. On WGN TV. There we go. All right. Nice. The NFL draft. I'm so confused about the draft the bears didn't have a first rounder because we have the greatest player in Philly in the NFL right now. Lil MAC, number fifty two. This is what confuses me I as I was trying to read up on it to understand completely what happened, but they gave up the first round to get Khalil that they gave it to somebody else to give it to somebody else. And now the twentieth thrown in twenty twenty right? I mean, it's so I don't understand traded away draft picks for him for a few years. Yes. He's that. Good. What does that mean? What do you mean? What does that mean? So so we get a draft pick. But it's I it's third. Yup. Okay. So what do you need to know? What's in the third round draft pick. Well, we'll have the number eighty six pick today. Right. Is it number eighty six? It's somewhere in the eighty three o'clock, it doesn't matter. Okay. But this is going to go on for win in the Super Bowl. Great not only next year. Right. If it maybe the year after great fine. I'm fine. I don't need to understand. I just need us to win the Super Bowl. So we're going to get somebody later today or tomorrow. That makes sense to get somebody. I would assume. I haven't listened anything. But as a bear fan and season ticket holder in section fifty one north endzone ten rose above the I'm the boss, I I would say Ropley defensive backs or an offensive lineman. So what is the guy? "You're just gonna stick with four guys given the off days, and and where does urban Santana fit and all this. Well, we are gonna stick with four initially. We don't need that fits starter till till April tenth Ervin. Santana's gonna stay back here and continued. To throw. He's fingers fully healed. Now, it's more matter of sort of building up the endurance in the repetition and come that April tenth start swimming, everything holds in that time, we need a starter. Ervin. Very likely take the ball that day. And the last thing for you is there a is there a player there were not given enough attention to maybe a newcomer or something that you that you're really excited about in in how fit into this ballclub the season. You know, it's going to be tough for it too. I think show up in the stat line necessarily, but what James McCann is doing for young pitchers. In terms of not only explaining to them how other teams view them and how would prepare for them at after being in our division for the last several years, but also helping them sort of improve upon their own arsenals and unlock those some of what we've been trying to get through to them. I think James is going to have a really big impact on us from a from a defensive standpoint for low from a pitch calling and game planning and pitcher development standpoint, which again is going to be difficult for it to necessarily show up and be attributed to him, but all of us from Ricky and all the coaches, and when we talk about what James brought it keeps coming up that that impact he's having our on our young pitchers. Overlooking looking forward to Seattle comes together. Recom- we'll see on Thursday in Kansas City. Sounds good. Thanks for having me. All right. Thanks you too. It affects some of those guys in the locker room and how they managed to stay positive despite the where the team wasn't a standings. And whereas if he was in their competitive cycle it just as a baseball fan, I found that fascinating. It was also fascinating just seeing Dan out there covering games for the first time and firing away questions at Ricky Renteria beat not afraid to open up his mouth. I really enjoyed that getting sedan do that. So anyway, those that that was like one of my favorite moments from last year, and I just listened to the post game show. And there's Dan ask you questions. He was like, listen, Rick. My name's Dan long, very unhappy. With the way you're going to your bullpen early in games. Are you thinking about over using them? And then he would answer the questions. I'm like, Dan, easy, take it. So that's that's skip. It you weren't afraid to fly request to their day-long. I I don't think I asked many bullpen related hard questions. I think mine were mostly softballs. But I remember boy, do you think you're responsible for the greatest upgraded? The SOX have made in this off season which is their bullpen. Am I responsible? Yeah. Your questions, you think Richard that negoti? No, he's right. We need to you know, we can't blow games once the starter leaves. We've got to improve the bullpen. I'm gonna get me a horse from Seattle. I think I think is a smart enough baseball guy on his own. He doesn't need tips. From for me to strengthen up the bullpen. Although the socks did markedly improved this year. Season. Good answer. Damn good answer. Well done. Well. Congratulations. And we'll see you. Bye. And we'll miss you all at the same time. I appreciate it guys. It's been fun. And let's let's do one more. That's exactly where the Latin style. So we're gonna have some spits from the sucks convention on the program today, including Michael kopech who sat down with Adam Hogue and Kevin Powell week ago Friday night, and he was all over the convention. I get to sue them on the first rounders alongside Daryl Boston Collins, and he's pretty out there. Harry about dealing with anxiety. Yeah. And the journey that he's been on. I really appreciate that out of Michael kopech. I think that bodes you know, he's gonna have a very challenging year being off the field. Rehabbing doubts are going to creep in right? If you're going to be able to be the same guy, even though surgeries been done a zillion times guys come back from this throwing even harder which is going to be hard to believe from Michael kopech standpoint. But it it's going to be a challenging year from and he's been pretty open about it. Yeah. You know about twenty seven years ago. I'm gonna say John Smoltz was the first baseball player to come out and talk about that very thing. And he said, I have a special psychologists who focuses on sports and wants most described it, you know, I it I'm thinking man this guy. He can he can put the ball. He's sixty feet six inches away from the plate and he can put that ball anywhere. He wants how could he have any anxiety issues whatsoever? And yet he was the first guy to come out and say, you know, I have these and it helps me to talk to a professional. I think that therapy gets a bad rap. And I think you know, people that are in therapy. It see a psychiatrist psychologist life coach life coach. I think they would rave about it. And you know, I think it's you know, in two thousand nineteen now I think we look at it differently. But almost every team has a specialist that does this now the old mental skills coach, and you work out. Right. You try to keep your body in shape you lift the weights you do the yoga. Work on your flexibility. You would think that you don't working on the old brain and getting to know yourself and being as comfortable as you can possibly be handling failure handling success handling everything that comes along with being a major league ballplayer. Let alone just a regular person society. All that makes a whole lot of sense. It's an hustle seems like kind of stunning that. It's. Sort of a new frontier league, you would have thought we would figure this out a while back, then you know, what this probably important to it's. I'm guaranteeing you. There's so many people that are successful to see people. But they're just not out there. You know, you want your dream about being a bigly ballplayer. And when you're bigly ballplayer. And you say you having Zadie issues the whole the whole world hears about it. But I'm sure that there are you heads of industry all over the place that have the same issues that see people, and they just don't come out and tell you want to hear the car deep dive bombing Zayed's on at four seventeen on white socks weekly. I would love to think about this. Let's go back all the way in time hearing all the way all the way to win there weren't roads. And just there were people there were lions, and they were talking like, Adam and ease. Yeah. Sure. Why not let's go Adam and eve time, I can't really tell you exactly how it was like, but this is how I theorized things were going on. So you're walking around and there's danger. There's a lion behind that. Tree. And you've got to survive. So the people that were walking around they were walking around all the time with anxiety. Right. Who's over there? What's over there? Hama gonna survive here. So it's built into the human condition. The people that survived had a good level of high anxiety because they were they were aware of their surroundings and being aware of your surroundings back then. Uh-huh. Had to be living with fear because there was forever. And then as we evolve that gene gets passed along. If if you will. And of course, we're all walking around with this. And then how do we deal with it? In today's live as a major league baseball player has radio host data's or whatever. There's nothing wrong with it's actually a beautiful thing. If we didn't have anxiety. We go run right on the street and get hit by a car that wouldn't be a good thing these beautiful, you know, historians have determined Adams last name. Did you know that? I did not know the turns out it was angle. Harry..

These games are awesome this weekend. Seattle and Dallas great game Colson Texans. Great game charters in the ravens pregame and bears and eagles route bears. Forty eagles beat down last pick in the draft. I will take Tom Brady's backup. Is there a Boston accent there? Tommy, I the only quarterback though to your like, the whole word is Trubisky land, Adam Hogue, I think the only quarterback that you can definitely say that like every GM would take over would which risky is definitely in front of Islam is Lamar Jackson. Let me I think. That's it. Right. You know, he's just a different threat that then all of them on the board. He's just different. I actually saw something earlier this week. I'm trying to remember where that was. But someone did like a power rankings these quarterbacks and had Lamar Jackson higher than sure Bisky, which I find hilarious because these same national people they're not country Bisky runs too much. "And a the use of outgained the Wildcats just about two to one two hundred forty three to one hundred twenty seven in total offense. Shelly thirteen of seventeen one fifty five two touchdowns. And he's run for fifty two's. He's over two hundred yards total offense here the first half. And the Wildcats been outgained on the ground eighty eight to mind, minus five. Yeah. And you have to white what watch out Nellie for his arm, which has been very accurate tonight. It gets BYU. He ran for sixty one yards and eleven attempts. It's about six yards a carry. And that is what he's on. We tonight they have to find a way to spy ham, somehow keep them under control because that last play where he ran around like he was being chased. In a July fourth party. I tell you what he is dangerous. Do you mean like a oh? Potato sack Ray his house. You're looking for you know, what you meant by. Fourth party. But you know, people are running around having parades. How much fun for the Wildcats trying to get him. I down gold go at the tech. Thirty three seconds to go the half seventeen three Utah. Shelley with shine to is right. Receivers right bakes. The now flirts the middle of the end zone broke it up broke it up. Beautifully done. Zone. They wanted a flag. Headed a receiver. JR pace had the coverage. There was just. A tough catch on top of the poll was way up the ladder there and was really good coverage by taste now. It's gonna be here we go. Second out a goal at the twenty nine seconds to go to the half play fake by Shelley doubt. Throw it again till the end zone. He could not hang on his throwing a little bit behind empowering. Good not real it and fathering ham. Will not did away and it brings up third down and goal to grow. At the town. A previous pass. Intended the Neons zone. They they could not come up with it. Yeah. That's that was a drop Paul by the tight in there. There is no question with his size at six four. Plus man that was a good thrown there by the quarterback showing at third goal. Ten twenty five seconds to go the half. And Shelly looks again the throne guns in over there broke it up penalty marker down. Tended for mariner got his hands on it broke. It up coverage. I thought it was good coverage right there to cave his Bergen. Chris Bergin had the coverage. Newsom? I think had to coverage. There was news of twenty nine. Yeah. The cats winnable with a full applets they had man coverage. They had four on four. And it was a really good coverage there on little little slant pattern, and they're gonna call it. Pass interference. Twenty. So the cat's bought the full on blitz. They bought they brought seven they dropped four. They are man coverage across the board. And they got the call. They were looking for. Twenty two seconds on the three yard to yard line. I down a goal at the two seventeen three Utah us shine cut down at about the three yard line. Illusory already jaw the play. Call timeout here. Seventeen seconds to go. Alex miller. Makes the stop time out. And I think that the. Right. Dave. I don't see. The second one remain. Catch shown a lot of courage here down inside the red zone. Doing a good job defensively making them work for every point every yard here every yard. They've got to shut them out here. They gotta shut him out. Try to get the ball in the end zone to kuwa- softball wide receiver. He thought he was interfered with Ben. Bothering ham. Couldn't hang on Monday. They tried again. And finally got the pass interference call. But now seventeen seconds to go second down and goal. A hand on one. Boy, they got a good spot out of this. And shine did a good job. But Patty, Fisher company analysis Miller on the defensive side did a better job. Second goal at the one for Utah seventeen three he's out of the gun here too. Duck down under center. Thanks roles. Right. Wants to throw. Now, floats it out about away, and that caught all bro it away with thirteen seconds to go. Why don't they just sneak it there? My goodness or just give it to shine, man. That was that was a wasted down. Right there. Gave the throw that ball way. Great coverage defensively by the cats everybody. Everybody was involved in that play good pressure from the front seven a great coverage in the secondary in the end zone. Her down a goal. This is their last or TV here. At one time out left. Utah seventeen three looking to add to it right here. Thirteen seconds to go till half-time. I kind of think they're going to run. It is sipc. Gives to the right Jackson on a wing to the right side. Snap the shy direct snap. And he will get there s he stopped moving down to eight seconds. Now, they'll take that time out Ray goal line stand by the Wildcats at its Travis Wheelock who takes him down the third and final time out of the half for Utah. Thirty second time they ran a little bit of the wild cap there. Bergen was also on that play as well. As mentioned will came up from his safety spot. That was just one dynamic play there defensively what a job by the linebackers getting over stuffed it on the place is the cat stuffed it on the playside. There was nowhere to go. They tried to run off left guard left tackle. And there was no gap there. That was a huge stand. Well, what they did they they had shine next to the quarterback Shelley and instead of snapping it to Shelley they snapped at to shine. And the Wildcats looked like they were waiting for. How about this? They start driving the thirty five yard line after the pick at two thirty to go in the first half. And they're going to be tempting to field goal with eight seconds left. You can't ask your defense to grind any harder than you. Did right there? Dave remember Utah's got to get the ball. First to start the third quarter. Wildcats blocked a field goal. Big ten championship game was would be bad time for one of those. Eight seconds left in the half. Or are they gonna kick? Now. They're going to go forward, it appears. Yeah, they're setting their offense back on the field. Who's fits might call timeout here to get his defense. He's josh. Today. Official. He's gonna out. Yeah. Did the right thing. Total offense of split setup Vinnie. Call timeout once the pyre pulled out of there. He call timeout. He says, wait a minute. We don't maybe we don't have a right personnel in here. So he's going to check it. Eight seconds remaining in the half. Seventy three Utah and the youth spacing fourth and goal. At the two yard line of the Wildcats. They lost a yard on the third down play. You don't personally, I think it's a big mistake to try to push it in you. Can't you take you take the three points you're up twenty two three then on north western take the three don't fool around. But if they stop him here that's a huge, by the way. Here comes the kicker. Yup. Now the field goal yet. It will come on. What are the best goal kickers and the Kanji? I why would you? Why would you take the ball off his leg? Exactly right sell. This will be a twenty yard field goal. This is pretty botch automatic. But it is a tough eh go for the left hash twenty yard try for gay. The thick all the way. In the kick is good. Five seconds to go in the half and Utah. Stands the lead. It's twenty two three. So the youths cashier on the turnover they go thirty three yards. In ten plays using to twenty four gay a twenty yard field goal. And the youths lead it by scoring twenty two three. And again, five seconds to go the hand. Yeah. You couldn't ask anything more out of your defense. Make them use everything but five seconds to get three points. Yes. She would have wanted to turn over. Yes. You would've wanted you know to. Come out with zero points. But man. Tell you the defense right now go on this and say, we can stop these guys. We can stop these guys. But it's not about the defect so much spot. The offense get not check gay will kick off. For the wildcat Sullivan bolt. Karaoke McGowan back deep. Just five seconds showing on the clock. Here is the approached by gaiety swipes it. Bounding dig it's fallen on by balk at the eleven yard line. There are still four seconds to go in the half. Here from coach FitzGerald coming off field out of whole get a moment. You know, Dave. They started off two touchdowns in the first quarter. And right now they entered the second quarter with two field goals. So I think the cats have now really started to nestling with what they want to defend defensively, I think they didn't have control the first quarter. But certainly, you know. Yeah, they'd given up to fill goes. But they're not giving touchdowns. Cats will take it easy here that will do it for the first half and the Utah utes twenty to three lead to the locker room at halftime twenty eight hundred. Let's go to Adam Hogue with the coach coach has been tough go off it's especially upfront. What needs to change in the second half? Well, first of all got to execute. You know, we got guys are getting beat one on one. You got a couple of drops. We have not seen her for fuel pressure. Got the ball out of our hands, which is set us behind the chains. So we got to get those things settle down quickly adjusted and then go to stop here to start and get some momentum. In your last game. You had a similar deficit at halftime. It's going on there to get put themselves message rations or it's about mastering the boredom of success, and sometime I get bored. I wanna pull my attention in my teams tension away from it. "Well, man, they don't have enough big teams enough, rank teams. There's going to be enough, you know the same with Miami. There's going to be enough there to get into the conversation as teams improve. They get wins and they start to climb up the rankings. There's going to be some matchups there left form. So I'm not too concerned about it. Like I said, it's just it's just week one and I don't even pay attention to the rankings. I don't even know what they mean at this point. Let me just add this back in on. Washington is that if you think Washington only gets a bump, some school, some programs depending on where you are, especially in the SEC they can get to. But if Washington takes two hits, I don't think they can get the four, fourteen playoff. So now now they their safety net has been employed. This is it. They get one parachute, they just hit another one. And that next parachute fails. This one, if they lose again, I think then they would be out of play. That's all. I mean by were Washington is concerned. You look at a school out of the SEC because of the schedule and some of this perception. Let's be fair about it, but. In the SEC you can get to bumps if you're a good program, shoot, Alabama and planner conference title game a year ago and won the national championship. So you talk it is Chevy at the Mike. It's not. It's not a real. It's not really all the way all the way this thing about this. Like you know how many NCWA Cheb chips I've ever existed or happened in college football zero. Exactly. That's believable. What this whole thing is there? No national champions and amasis there. Nick save it both national. You don't even have one buddy. You have some college football national championships, but you don't have an NCWA Daschle championship two things? Yeah, our number two yet to come. Let me just make this adjustment. Adam Hogue and on banks. Our guests are in an hour and in ninety minutes not coming up. Next, we'll continue our conversation of the football landscape. What happened this weekend?
