New York Jets Officially Release RB Le'Veon Bell

"All right Levian, bell got released from the jets, which is big for us, which is team don't pay running back also big for us, which is like the jets are the funniest organised eight picked the jets go to the playoffs last year. Let's just talk about that for years in the past last year. Split here's a here's a few. Since the jets hired Adam Gates things. Destroyed Sam darnold confidence and development. Check. Chased a homegrown talent out of town with incompetence in Jamal Adams. Made sure that no free agent will want to sign with them for years to come. Ranked last. In offensive production for two straight. Seasons. And let's just talk about how Adam Gates is. Still there he is still there and wait my favorite thing about it at all. You remember Anthony Barr was signing with someone off season. You remember the whole thing he signed with the jets he took a pay cut. To leave the jets and sign with the Vikings. He literally said no will work for less money as long as I don't have to be there. That's what that says about this jets organization.

You probably even want him fired right now, but that's not happening. So you start to think about the serious options of who could coach the Jets. Next Eric, be enemy comes the mind. He, of course, the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. Brian Day Ball, the offense, a coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. He's going to get a lot of love this offseason. Also, he's a disciple of not only Bill Belichick. But I also think day ball was with Saban, right. I want to say Dave Ball was with Saban was that for two years or was it one year? I know that he was At Alabama. I want to say it was for I want to say it was one season. I have a goal was one season if if that's what my memory does recall on Briand able, and just giving it a glance, Yes was it was one season 2017. So the enemy and Dave ball, probably two names that come to mind. Arthur Smith, who's done a nice job being the OSI in Tennessee. Throw another one out there, and this is college, other to college coaches out there. Would you want? Jim Harbaugh's the next head coach of the Jets there, Mr Green? Absolutely. 100%. I would love Jim Harbaugh, but I don't think he would want to come to New York. You don't You really don't think so? No. So he had a lot of success in San Francisco made it. The three straight NFC Championship Games also got to a Super Bowl and The ball was right at the goal line. Pretty much you could have better play calling there. They had that pass from Kaepernick to Michael Crabtree. So Harper was successful in the NFL. What could he leave Michigan? But that being his alma mater without the feeding Ohio state and without winning the Big 10 championship. That's just something that I wonder. I don't think he's in danger of losing his job yet because he has improved that program from where it was with Rich Rod and also Brady Hoke. S so I don't think he's in danger yet, even though he probably should be so I would probably say Yeah. I don't think our ball wouldn't want the job, but I don't think he's ready yet to leave Michigan. I'll throw you out one more college coach. How about Dan Mullen at Florida? "Toe learn Mohr appreciate Shaq Thompson from the one to Carolina Panthers, stopping by in the last segment, I want to further expand upon First year head coaches or coaches that have new teams for this year in the National Football League, because it's not easy. You go on in. You implement a new system. You had no preseason games. You had a condense training camp. You had a lot of things going on virtually And I just want to take a look at how we view the five teams that hire new head coaches and also something a prematurely throw out there. I wonder with the obstacles that have been put in front of teams this year and how different teams have been and this goes for all across sports how that impacts if they're going to make a move or not. And if they're going to move on from someone after this year order, they just chalk up. Maybe some of the lack of success to Cove it I think of three coaches right away that there is no way they should be back next year. And this is after three weeks, it's Adam Gates with the Jets. It's Matt Patricia with the lines, even though they just defeated the Cardinals. And then the other one is Dan Quinn of the Atlanta choking Falcons. So Those three coaches, definitely on their way out. And if you want to look around the rest silly coaches that could be in danger. If you look at the eighth Sies Other than gay, so I don't see a coach being in danger. In the West, Potentially Anthony Lin. I would not move on from Anthony Lin Vic Fangio. I know it's only your number two, and I know there's been a lot of injuries, but maybe he's on the hot seat. In the North. Tom one's good. Harbaugh's good The fancies not getting fired after a year and Zach Taylor to your number two. They're going to be bad, but I have a lot of talent on that team, so I think he's fine. In the South. A wonderful Brian. He should be on the hot seat. You never know, though, with that organization because it seems whenever something bad happens, they give him more power. Marone Yamarone won't be back next year. You have to think even though they played tough football this year, they're one and two. Right convertible clearly safe. In the NFC East. All those coaches are going to be safe. Even the judge is not gonna have the first good year in New York, and I don't think Doug Peterson after winning a Super Bowl and get into the playoffs. Two years after that. I I don't think that That team is in isn't in any or Doug's in any jeopardy of losing his job in the West. All for those coaches, they're safe. In the NFC North. I know the Bears of three and, uh oh. They finished the year like seven and 9 18 8, which is definitely possible because I don't believe in Chicago, Nagy could be on the way out. We already talked about Patricia. I know Mike Zimmer. I think Mike Zimmer just got an extension. The way that teams looking this year. Could he potentially be in danger? Locked the wait and see. And in the South. Other than Quinn. Rule safe. Sean Payton is going to be safe. I think the box is going to make the playoffs, but what happens if they missed the playoffs? What would they move on from Bruce Arians? I don't think they would, especially with Brady on the final year of his deal, and Brady going there for a reason. So let's look at these first year head coaches or coaches that are our new homes this year. His summer. Our coaches have had success in this league before and have been rehired. We looked at Cleveland. Stefanski. This is a huge week for the Browns, and they go up against the Cowboys when I looked at Cleveland so far. They got destroyed up against the Ravens, then had the Bangles and add Washington was Cleveland overly impressive in those two games? No, they weren't That Bangles game was closely At times that Washington game was close until it got late. Neither of those victories maybe jump up and down like affected in a candy store and say, Oh, my goodness gracious. I'm impressed with the Cleveland Browns, but the Browns have showed. You know the last two weeks. This is their formula. Nick Chubb, and we'll see if Karim Hunt plays this week. I read a little bit of an injury on him, Chaban Hunt. They gotta lead the way and then Baker just can't screw it up. So I look at this Cleveland team. This team has enough talent to make the playoffs this year. Town last year to make the playoffs. They got to come together and this is a big test. This want to find their season on Sunday. But this is a big test for Cleveland going up against a cowboy's team. We're on paper. The Cowboys have a better team. Cowboys don't have a problem finishing games. Well, I'm not telling you that Cleveland's great finishing Games Act, they beat Washington. They beat the Bangles. I would love to see it. This is a one possession game in the fourth. If the Browns who go take it from from the Cowboys, and we talked about this yesterday. The next three games will tell you a lot about Cleveland. Because You get the.

New York Jets defense bracing for some Buffalo Bills' trickery

"Looking at the Jets offense, Adam Gates was quoted as saying this week, Greg that he has a little bit of concern in terms of being properly prepared. For this bills defense he mentioned he mentioned quarter's coverage in particular because he said, We really don't see that kind of a look from the Gregg Williams defense in practice. No. What do you so what do you make of that? And how big an issue could that be knowing all of the time on the field that Every team in the NFL is missed through the course of the spring and summer. Well, it's funny. You say that I did last week. I did a deep dive on the bill defense. I was real curious, because you know you get a totally different feel when you watched 300 snaps in a row versus when I want your team with, you know each week, So you know, with this offseason, I was able to do that, and boy they Number one. They're very fundamentally discipline, but they're a little more multiple, and people might think when they blitz. They blitz a lot of different players from a lot of different spots, but they do play cover for quarters. It's a foundational coverage for Sean McDermott. He did that when he was in Carolina, and he's obviously brought it to Buffalo. And yeah, if you don't see it a lot. I mean, it's not a defense. We go. My God, What do we do? But you know there's certain concepts. That you want to run against quarters. Look, every zone has holes and every zone can't cover everything. Otherwise everybody would play the same zone. So you know there are certain route concepts where you wanted, basically flood zones. You want to attack the safety and the corner in quarters and Adam Gates knows how to do that. It's just they don't practice it a lot in their camp, but he knows how to do that. So we'll see. You know, it's obviously you need repetition against it, and I'm sure they're working on. They've worked on it this week. How much does it mean that the Jets defense who was pretty good at times last year particular with CJ Mosley Jamal Adams in the lineup, But you take those two guys out of it. And how many proven players do they have? And what are they going toe? How will that affect their defense? Greg Williams was one of the best in the league. He's been doing this a long time. You guys obviously know he was in Buffalo for Ah little bit, but it's a d coordinator. I think it's just 20 or 21st year doing this. Hey, knows an awful lot of things. He knows NFL offense. He's He's somewhat limited personnel, but he was a year ago is well and they actually played pretty well. If you want to sum up Greg Williams, you'd probably say that he's aggressive, but he also plays a ton of cover, too.

Adams says Gase not the right leader for New York Jets

"A day that the NFL play association border representatives approved a plan they'll have NFL training camps opened a schedule next week. Jamal Adam said Bush step aside like from the movie pulp Fiction by putting out and it all came out in an interview with mini smelt of the New York Daily News the same day he called out The brain Trust of the Jets would be a clear clear understatement, Norman that NFL news like this happens when it votes like training camps are going to start on time. Even this covert 19 times. You don't usually move that off the top Gemma Adams and interview said about coach Adam Gates and I quote I don't feel like he's the right leader for this organization to reach the promised land. As a leader really bothers me is that he does not have a relationship with everybody in the building. He didn't stop there. He also said at the end of the day Gaze does not address the team. If there's a problem in the locker room, he lets another coach address the team and we're playing like blank, and we're losing. He does not address the entire team as a group at halftime. He'll walk out of the locker room and let another coach handle it. End quote. That last part Freddy Ahh, Alice in the New York Daily News with with, you know, a guy who's been on a regular the showman Ismet up, but That last one, but that's not true. Somebody. Somebody is stepping up, right and saying, Hang on a minute. That happened One time, you know, or whatever you are, it hasn't happened. You see anybody come out in case his defense today from New York jets. I've been searching social media like I'm a detective with a bloodhound on my side, trying to find it. Nothing. No code, no Peep Player coach player. Not even a family member, Adam Gaze Nobody And then on the other side, you have GM Jo Douglas, who, according to the New York Daily News back in January. Old Jamal Adams. I want you to be a jet for life Contract. 1st 1st contract first offers coming You know, after I talk to management and the ownership Then it was Combine. Then the draft went by, and then Joe Douglas over a six month stretch. Contradicted himself, according to the New York Daily News, and Jamal Adams and one from we want you to be a jet for life contract coming to prove it. Meaning Go, you go prove yourself that you can do this year in year out. Ah and signed a bunch of second and third tier players. Very few. Jamal Adams. Yeah, you were promised one thing and shown the door. So I understand why he is upset. But now Jets players are going to have to deal with this other jets. Coaches are going to have to deal with this. But man, you look at the Jets organization as a whole right now from the Woody Johnson allegations from CNN. To this You could have had much of a worse week. If you're the New York Jets.

NFL: Two head coaching hires in 10 minutes

"The draft before the combine. We still have several weeks. NFL Action to go. We have some new coaches join. Join the NFL. As recently as this afternoon and joining me to talk about that and the playoff games is our friend with the Atlantic Lindsay Jones Lindsay. How are you? I'm good oh how are you. I'm good I thought this was going to be kind of a quiet day in the NFL landscape and then suddenly to head. Coaching hires in the matter of ten minutes. This morning Matt rule going to the panthers. Joe Judge going to the giants after Mike McCarthy was named cowboys coach earlier this week. So let's start with today's news. Let's start with Matt rule who gets a seven year deal. What sixty seventy million dollars? A lot of money. Samat rule to leave Baylor and come work for the Carolina Panthers. Yeah I mean it sounded like one of those Offers you can't refuse type of situation where I think he's GonNa have a lot of power he's also got a lot of money and A lot of years to do To do what the panthers to do. It's not quite a Jon. GRUDEN ten years one hundred million dollar type of deal but David Tepper is showing that he is not afraid to spend a lot of money to invest very heavily in his head coach and head coach You know when everything else that they're doing I mean they're building a brand new practice facility. They're building the indoor facility. I mean they're spending a lot of money Darren Charlotte and you know I. It was interesting that there was kind of story that also came out. The rule wanted to kind of bring that offer back to the giants Because he was going to interview with the giants as well but The giants said okay. We're going to hire JOE judge instead of paying Instead of hiring not rule it six years seventy million dollars or whatever it is so Really really interesting. Move there Bell what are you. What was your initial? Take on it. I guess and then I'll I'll go with yours it. I think it's interesting in that. I'm not gonNA pretend that I am someone who has watched every Baylor game this year. I've watched a little bit and I've read up a Matt Rule Essay coaching candidate. Now for the past two years of course rule was very very nearly the jets head coach last year before jazz blocked him hiring his own offensive coordinator which point he stepped out of that process and they hired Adam Gates move. That has worked out brilliantly for the jets of course in the afterward with that rule. I think there are certainly elements of a a run first attack. I think he is not someone who is seen as a a progressive offensive minded. They've run EARNHARDT Peos this year. He has seen that as sort of a you know. I can't deal with the devil to run as much of the rushing game as he wants to and I think that's very interesting given what we have. In Carolina we have Christian McCaffrey who's entrenched is the best running back in football at the moment. We Have Cam Newton who I think you know certainly seems like this offer. This higher would probably be good for him in a way back for him in a way. Oh you know good in that. The run first attack does seem to favor can if he can be a player who does impact game with his leg. Still which we don't know coming back from injury but it's pretty clear that you know if Matt rule wants to move on from Cam Newton. He's going to have plenty of time to move on and higher higher or or or or sign up backup quarterback or assigned a young quarterback or draft a quarterback and give that guy a time to develop so I kind of feel of two minds. It's for this when it comes to the biggest decision for the second the second biggest decision the panthers have to make this office and I don't know how you feel about do you do. What does this mean for you for Cam Newton? Yeah I I think the first thing is just how healthy is he gonNA be. What's his time? Line going to be like their That's the thing that just is over everything and has been over everything for the panthers for going on two years now I still think he's GonNa be back and and I've been I've been thinking about this a lot over the last few few days I've been writing about brees and Brady and thinking about all of the potential quarterback moves that we're gonNA see the offseason and well this time of year. It's really fun fun to speculate about. All the potential moves and this year is more interesting than any quarterback off season that I can remember and maybe ever certainly certainly as long as my nfl institutional memory is But ultimately moving on from a quarterback and guy who's taking you to a super bowl who's won an MVP Without some sort of really solid plan in place is it's a really hard at it. It's so rare that it happens so ultimately I think he ends up being back. I think he's there's so many things that you can do with him if he's going to be healthy but that if he's going to be healthy is just the biggest question that's been out there and We're not going to know that for a couple abundance I guess the good news is that they don't have to make that move or decision on Cam Newton. Today I mean they they really can can wait a couple of months but ultimately. I think that there are better team with him. And the options outside of him are just not that great. I mean. There's some intriguing names out there but I just think I don't think you're GonNa do better than Cam. Newton Can A new. There's even seventy five percent of the quarterback that he was in two thousand fifteen when he was at his peak. Yeah or even the guy who was playing well in the first half of two thousand eighteen. I think that can traffic is still really good There's a definitely interesting sort of dichotomy with that rule or I guess not a paradox. In that he is a very conservative. Very first coach. But we've we've seen in the report effortless. Hire one of the reasons that the panthers were able to Land Matt run into the panthers was because they're making a huge investment in sports science. You mentioned the practice facility being built there. I mean it seems like it's a you know. This is the the beginning of a major infrastructure shift for the panthers to being an organization that they wanNA emulate the steelers and they wanna be simultaneously Eh analytics friendly at the same time so I think it was going to be a really interesting sort of narrow path to hit their where they are a run for his team which is typically considered to be sort of a antiquated or old school notion but making it work and so I think in the long run. They might end up being more similar to the Ravens. Who seemed to embody all those things right now in the steelers? Yeah I mean that's absolutely the franchise right now that you want to emulate if you look at WHO's doing it the best right now from both play on the field but also what they're doing inside their building and the the mindset that they have with the type of people that they hire The way that they make all their decision I think it's the Ravens and I guess that comes from the steelers family and that's so so that's what he's familiar with. But I think the other thing that we we didn't talk about was not rule that we just really have to mention. Is that while we can talk about schematics. And look at his Ex's knows and yes he's run I but you know what college offenses he bringing those sorts of things. I think the biggest reason that he was this really hot. NFL Coaching candidate over the last two years. This is his reputation. That's kind of a program builder and The work that he did at temple the way that he really kind of overhauled Baylor over the last two the three years when they were really a disaster The the way he interacts with players You know he brought his father and his former pastor and coach and you know I just think that Dad's what made him so attractive in addition to obviously like the the the skills that he has. It's an actual you know coach but You know I think we get so caught happen. Like what exactly is this. Guy's offense going to look like or what exactly is this guy's defense gonNa look like when really what owners and management are looking at is. What's this Guy's vision? How is he going to interact after everything everybody in the building? How does he relate to players What is his vision? All those sorts of things not really why they came out rule You know a bunkers you you know seventy million dollar contract Jack. Think that's very fair and I think that's really what they're bringing matt rule to do. I mean this is a guy who they think is going to overhaul everything about the panthers. The culture is going to change not that rhinovirus culture was bad. Obviously it worked for a long time but I think you know this is going to be a eighteen. An organization top to bottom built in in the vision of Matt Rule on the other side of things You think about the hiring. The giants made today in Joe Judge who granted. I think there's been that those sort of initial tweets coming out the wide receivers coach. He's really special teams coach. He is not good for one year. He has been the Patriot special teams coach for a long time. He has worked under Bill Bell. Check US worked under Nick Sabin. Those are pretty successful people to work underneath and yet it sort of seems like not. Maybe this is wrong to say but it seems like this higher is out of nowhere. Is that fair to say a little bit. I mean he was.

Jerry Jones cryptic about Jason Garrett’s future, says he ‘will be coaching in the NFL next year’

"Listen to the cowboys started the season with high expectations. That is a true statement but now it's a season that has devolved into a race to win the worst division in football. Here we go. That's where we start. Cowboys said at six and six after a disappointing home loss to the bills on Thanksgiving Day and has Dallas prepares to face the bears Thursday night. Jerry Jones continues to answer questions about the future of his head coach Jason Garrett look where we are with our skill set eh look it up toward they are with Ayers and there's nothing to my mind that jumps out of me that we can't be playing well enough to take it to the house Think about there's no exclusive but he's got exclusive skills to get the job so the collectively so you could but they're qualified people WANNA opinion. It'd be coaching Jerry. Jones has been supportive of Jason Garrett. I think it's fair to say that however was an interesting statement with friends like Jerry. Look Coach Ryan. We'll start with eat right in your ear. Yeah I think we should. I think that's a fair assessment. Oh ooh boy. I had my friend Jerry. Jones is not stupid. No right at all. You don't get to the point. He is in life. You don't get be this rich if you're a stupid man man. He's rich enough to not really care like Jerry. Jones knows how the things that he says will be taken. He knows that people on the outside not we'll be listening also people within his organization he understands what a statement like. JC Garrett will be coaching in this league next year. We'll we'll make everybody do. We'll make the people in the building where where where we'll be coaching Jerry coaching. Well he'd be a quarterbacks coach. Well He'd be office coordinator. What you won't see is he will be the coach of the Dallas Cowboys? And that's what matters if you're talking about Jason Garrett and being anywhere which he has done for year in in year out where we wanted him to fire Jason Garrett for being mediocre. He said he's my guy he's my coach. He will be here. I have faith in him. That soon has totally totally changed to love the way. Mike Zimmer coaches football. I don't expect to ever out coach Bill Belichick and if I can't I can't coach Bill Belichick. I expect out coach Adam Gates and not lose to him Jerry. Jones is ready to get rid of dude. Well there's no doubt that the rhetoric and the tone has changed. Now it's interesting. The Point Ryan Makes Jerry Jones. Smart knows what he's saying. You know that was true with physio Elliott as well when he made that Zeke who you know and he said I was kidding. He was kidding but he you know every every job has a morsel of truth he does know what he's saying and he understands stands out it will be portrayed and in this case I think you're right. The unwavering support for Jason Garrett has come to an end actions. Speak Louder than words. So I mean he's given us a lot of words but really the actions he hasn't. He doesn't have a contract going forward next year so he might coach but Jerry say is not going to be here but he thinks appeals kills conflict. It'd be somewhere else to me. You know he the writings on the wall when when the organization says that we have everything you need and you have to want to super bowl or bus. That's all I mean. There's not much talk about. I mean really. It's been laid out there pretty clean and and Jerry feels he's assembled he is the general manager and the owner. He feels he's like these assembled a championship team. And they're not playing like a champion right now. Does that remind you when you go through a break up and the person says you. I don't want to be with you anymore. But the next person is so oh lucky to have you it. Has that same sort of tone like you know. He'll be coaching in the league. Readers don't really probably want him here in Dallas because he has really been inconsistently early on in the season with backing him saying even as Soon as two weeks ago he was saying better things about Jason Garrett and it just seems every time they win he loves them and soon as they start losing or put together a a you know a poor performance immediately changes the tune in he. He likes to keep them on notice. But I think I don't want to speak for you but I think we can all agree that probably the end of the season if they don't make the playoffs this is probably. I'm not even sure I'm not even sure. I think it takes more than a million. It's always going deep is I believe it's always been that for Jason Garrett in this season and this is why he didn't and have a contract going forward but also understand that a huge reason that Jason Garrett is there is because he can deal with this part of coaching for Jerry Jones. And I don't think I you know I think. That's worth sort of underlining not everybody can and coach you but a coach in this league for several teams. It is a different animal when you coach for Jerry Jerry Jones and you have to take the total package. Not Everybody can do that or not and I get. You can't be there have the understand I I'll be honest if I'm there. I would have to have an understanding because it could not go the way it goes right now. Right and Jason Garrett has been able to handle that part I think into function within those stipulations. And so but you know I think I think this this relationship is coming to a close look the head coach. Come the end of the season though in this job is open. Let's let's just say you think there's going to be guys. Turn that Opportunity Down Because of Jerry Jones. I know I don't I don't believe so. But I also understand that. His more successful coaches who have had different personalities also haven't lasted as long as Jason Garrett has been more successful bay one super bowls but also all those people have left a lot earlier. Jerry needs a strong presence like a Jimmy. John's their push back. He needs strong presence for his head coach but he he is not going to have one if he mandates that things go certain way. And that's just a reality. So what he needs. The most he probably repels away. Greatest strength greatest weakness right. We see it so

New York Jets head coach Adam Gase responds to support

"Adam Gates in his first season as head head. Coach of the New York jets his record today to end seven nevertheless interesting time for a vote of confidence jet CEO. Christopher Johnston said yesterday Ah Adam gays will return for the two thousand twenty season here is the jets CEO. I want to ensure you there would be no changes changes in coaches Adam. How's the trust of this team as the trust Sam? Joe's trust he has my trust. He's a good man. He's a good coach. There is a lot of work to. There's a great deal of to everyone understands And we're just getting started. I feel really good good Memphis team moving forward anytime you get support from ownership the way that the staff Scott supported. The old has gone way. Obviously we wanted We got a lot of games are jobs improve this team and go out and try to win games every week. And he's with us through every step within our communication with him so he kind of knows what we've been trying to do how we're we're trying to fix things that are that are wrong so no to get his support for him to Kinda see what we're trying to do. It's that's an important step fluish. Well that was Adam Gatien course responding to the SAGA lineup. Was He trying to avoid eye. Contact Tech High. We're out here. Do you find that the timing at all interesting or Steve. Young made the point. Yesterday Robert was a good time to do it. So people stop asking the question. I mean it is a good time. Just say. Hey He's going to be here next year but look he's been there one year having hasn't been a great year for him but you know look overall head coaching record. He's about forty a two percent. When winning percentage he wins about forty two percent of the time? So you know. It doesn't look so great for him moving forward but look he's got the support Ownership they're going to give him one more year and I can guarantee that next year if they're in the same position that they're not going to be so lenient on giving him another year. So Oh you look at what. NFL coaches are nowadays. They have guaranteed contracts. I highly doubt they WanNa give him a nice contract and then just release him halfway through his I well it gets to be an expensive decision. Yeah and that's a really great point because ownership obviously is invested in their pick. They want their pick to look good exam. You know you don't WanNa WanNa give up on what you decided so quickly although that has happened to certain coaches inside right around the league. But you can't forget that even even when Todd Bowles was there that the jets were ten and six in their first season and it was really bad. Blow to this team to the supper loss against the Miami Dolphins and just some of the adversity city that they've gone through since Particularly when there's been a lot of expectations with Sam darnold presidents on that team. Well Yeah. He was brought in large part to work with a young quarterback to develop SAM. Darnold help him take the next step. What's interesting is that they share the same stadium with the giants are struggling as well? Now in this case Pat Shurmur is in his second year as a head coach. But look they're coming off the bye. They've lost six straight. What's the word around his future? Well Adam gays was asked recently just how secure he is in his job in one of the ways in which which he retorted. What's to say I'm built for this? Just projecting confidence which you would expect the head coach to do. But I would be remiss to mention that some of the reporters in New York noted that was kind of the same something that Ben mcadoo said three weeks before the giants got rid of him and and clearly this is not the adversity or excuse me what they were looking to results wise to be having right now coming off of in two years of What they endured under Ben mcadoo but the reality is promising as Daniel Jones has looked particularly when he's throwing the ball With with the return of Saquon this is not what they were looking for. They're still suffering losses even with saquon on the field. I mean he has not had over sixty five rushing yards in the last three times he played. Hey only had two one hundred rushing yard games. That was in the first two weeks Daniel Jones continues to have issues with the interceptions. Fumbles and things of what have you and it has has. It was altered in wins. And you can't neglect the fact that this is in New York and teams with that media pressure there as well. It won't stop. It's hard to perform with a rookie quarterback though in this in this league it's not they had veteran it didn't it didn't work out. He still there by the way. He's still there. But look in this league. It's hard for a young quarterback to come in and be successful and I just think that we're witnessing growing pains of a young quarterback trying to figure his way Out through a hard schedule last year at this time he was done you know now. He's about halfway through so I mean it's it's a lot more difficult. I agree with you. Rob The only issue of course with the New York giants dances. They've had a lot of these same problems whether it was a long-term veteran quarterback or a yet stroup Such a great point. And so then you start to have to ask other kinds of questions

Jets' Sam Darnold out with mono, could miss weeks

"Is the jets season already over. That's number four it. It feels like it. It certainly feels like it from the jets fans that I know who have already just like Oh my God. It's not even mid-september yet so that's how it felt just after game one right before mono for the seventy and sixteen loss to the bill seventeen unanswered points and and even by the instant jets Adam Gay standard a really astonishing press conference to explain or really not explain anything anything that had happened in the game where he said in a quote. That's the beauty part being a head coach. I can basically do what I want. That was in response to someone asking about apptime Montgomery snap count leave. That's response to talking about time Montgomery that how are you GonNa talk about Sam Darnold having mono or Levian bell getting an MRI on his shoulder anything actually consequential. When do we think Sam Darnold had mono because they got the ball back with like a little less than three minutes left down one? They only had two forty yards at home for riphil goal and they looked like an absolute shit show. I don't know I think that's that's a question after today's announcement because he's it sounds like he's GonNa miss a Lotta time unclear how much the things that they said is that he lost a ton of weight so then you wonder about his physical readiness CBS last week even to play like what was his conditioning. What was his stamina? Maybe that did have some sort of a fact act. I don't know but I think it's one of these jets stories where the instant reaction on twitter and on the Internet was like low mono and it's like you're saying it's actually not funny. It's a serious illness and yeah yeah. It is terrible way to derail the beginning of Sam Darnold Sophomore Season boot because it's the jets the impulse to say oh my God like how many things are gonNA happen to the jets only heading into week two and they have their Monday night football. They have the browns game on Monday night. The browns Ashley also coming off a disappointing week. One is kind of like instantly feels like a must-win game for both of these teams you look at the schedule. There's a real chance especially with donald out that they can start cr Owen sex like a real chant what happened to the line today. After the motto announcement the Browns went from minus three to minus seven yeah I mean that seems reasonable right. Ever seen is going to play quarterback as reasonable. If you actually watch Sam Darnold last weekend but go ahead of schedule the schedule is browns this week loss New England and week three loss by and week for a very very fortuitous bye week placement. They're good for the jets fans just emotionally they get they get a brief reprieve early in the season and then it's Philly Dallas in New England again brutal brutal that's L. draft picks Levian who by the way they might be injured when rusher but him but he would have to go nuts and one of those games levy on bell unclear what the severity he is. He's got soreness in his shoulder getting an MRI CJ Moseley. They're big ticket from Raven. One of my one of my favorite is good in the first half of the jets. He looked fabulous to give him a huge contract. He's hurt art sounds like he's progressing well but it's unclear when exactly he'll be back the already loss quincy for the entire season first round draft pick from the past draft when Williams it's not practicing right now ankle injury. If a lot of injuries mounting they had to they had to elevate Luke faulk Washington state talk on this podcast yeah so far I was not expecting us yeah from the practice squad to get ready to be the backup quarterback for Monday night football game that is now the place you WanNa be in week a two and then geese all of this get off his his announcement today of the Darnold mono illness was so bizarre like even by hi. The Adam Gates bizarreness scale standard. Here's what he said. Fourteen has mono and we'll be out for this game. You can't say you're starting quarterback's name name fourteen. He then continues so trevor will be starting okay big for all of our trevor say like nine starting. It's strange and then you can use in Luke. Falk will get elevated at some point. It'd be the backup so that would be that that he concluded then then the other thing that happened this week is that manish head report and the Daily News that way in case was still at the dolphins he broke the story SARCI prefer he was in love with one quack fell in love with the tape that he was crunching the film that he was studying. Oh it's Baker Mayfield okay sign like probably a lot of NFL front offices and coaches thought Baker Mayfield was the best quarterback in the draft. That's fine. Here's here's ears this Zinger bill he reportedly also preferred Josh Allen to Sam Darnold and did not quote didn't believe that Darnold had star potential so that's the thing that's now out in the world and even though he wasn't the jets doesn't matter it's like the thing that people are talking about is that Adam could would be made up sure I mean it could be somebody just league in that too mannish just to screw a random guess. It's definitely possible is just like the general tenor around Jason. The team makes it kind of hard. Doubt anything you here. It's one of those situations pretty pretty quickly gotten to that place like again you back to the way he was talking. After after the bills loss in just like the line played like shit the receivers played like shit the DB's played like shit you know he wasn't actually using foul language processing but he was pretty willingly throwing hired knitting them right because he's a Dick and Peyton manning is a hall of Famer of all time WHO's like show I kinda I like this Dick. He just says his mind Cher and he can handle it but if you put somebody like that with a young team in young quarterback in the big city might not be here I I am. I made excuses for news of Miami because the roster they did so many weird things for that. It was even hard to evaluate fused coach but I don't like anything he's done so far at the jets. He just seems kind of like a jerk. Never forgot that this is a man who said that the Internet and social media are pollution of the brain while he might not be wrong in that. I just want to say one thing on mono. Yeah 'cause I do think people underrate it and I think think it all stems back to a famous Brady Bunch episode seventies where it became you know it's a sitcom that was one of the formative shows has the seventies everybody under the age of I would say thirty five in every brady bunch probably right kyle over thirty five nine hundred thirty five kiling once I had had monitor just didn't watch other Brady thirty five over I would say at least knows all the brady bunch episodes right and that kind of made light of motto and it's like Yeah you can actually he died from on how you can get on school and not come back for two months right. It's like making kissing jokes but it's weird. It'd be like Kazan. darnold might have leukemia but models like really bad. It's it's it's terrible for Sam. I feel bad for my feel bad for jets fans and I wish that it's not realistic to wish for the fans to be able to enjoy a winning football team. I think the DADS fans host winning post football ball enjoyment. I wish now post apocalypse for the jets

"There's no GM but they do have on bell about him gays in. They've got Sam darnold. What do the jets look like coming up this year? CG sportsbook seven wins up to seven and a half now open at seven seven and a half, folks, like in the jets, they think it's going to be a decent year. Maybe even eight year for the New York Jets. Let's talk about New York Jets Minnie's meta. Joining us on the progressive insurance hotline for the nearest news, cover the jets Venise map Peralta. Aria. I'm great. Thank you for the time. All right. So today you're back to poking the patriots, which I love because I'm a patriot guy the headline how the patriots stole a player from the jets who they desperately needed, right? Eat them. Do you enjoy the back and forth banter with patriot fans? Did you enjoy the war? Well, I'm not sure more upset about this story. The patriot fans of jet fans probably. It's probably fifty fifty but look, the patriots have ruled the landscape for Donald Ted. The better part of his life. So I think it's pretty obvious that the team to beat. But what's interesting in terms of this particular stories that the jets desperately needed a center, they had to opera -tunities to get two guys in the fourth round and Mike McCallion inexplicably traded down both times and miss down on both guys in pounded last guy was an Arkansas center guard. The jets actually believe he'll be center in the NFL. I think the patriots do as well. He could have been there for, for reasons, unknown to many people in January today, might a mcalinden decided to make a second trade on the third day of the draft and ultimately the patriots ended up. Getting this guy, I'm gonna put her name, but he's from Denmark, and through hold. Yeah. His first name just say for. That's all I just. Yeah. Have a great teacher in Dante score Nekia up in Foxborough. So if anyone's gonna get anything out of this guy, it's going to be that guy. You do. Call Bellichik Lord Vader again though. So you. The nickname down your poking, the bear whenever you start doing that with Bela Jack jets every right to hit the patriots every right to hate ballot. Check after what has gone on with the history between the two but do people inside the organization feel like the patriots are ripe to be upset. I've seen people, you know, people I respect say, the Buffalo Bills are gonna win the AFC east this year. The question. Yes, there are people in the big building who think that now is the time, you know, not just two thousand nineteen. But the window is opening what to or not remains to be seen, of course. But the perception, at least inside the jets organization as that, of course, Tom Brady is not gonna play forever, regardless of what patriot fan stink. And this is a good opportunity because he has lost some pieces around him notably, rob gronkowski. So there is an opportunity for someone to go and win the AFC east for the first time in forever. And I know the bills made some upgrades at ROY do fever offensive line. They often have young quarterback so understandable for them to be excited as well. But I know that people at least inside the organization think that, you know, the tide perhaps could be turning in this division. The fallout from the mcalinden situation. Now the dust has settled here. What's the real story or at least the story that you believe as the most logical between him and Adam gays? How much influence did gays have? And if they wanted to make a change at GM. Why didn't they do so before the draft? Why did they let and go through the draft article this morning? You mentioned that he's made made moves that did not make sense to people in that ultimately cost them players at the jets could've used. They were going to move on from canyon. It would've been warranted. Just given the cabinets resume is. You should have done it when you fired Todd Bowles that makes the most sense because then you bring in the new general manager he helps the owner pick a new head coach. And then he sets the course in free agency. The jets spent about one hundred twenty five million dollars in free agencies are not chump change. And Dan, you chart a course with the draft, those three pivotal pieces to this off season for the jets hiring the coach running free agency and running the draft the fact that they did not fire mcalinden until three weeks after the draft really speaks to the experience, the instability and indecisiveness, frankly of the acting owner Christopher Johnson. I think he's learning as he goes, this was a clear miscalculation in terms of, how things really unfolded between the cabin and Adam gates goes, I think it's fairly simple, anyone who's been around, like McCain knows that, you know, he's an extremely nice man. He does things above board highly ethical guy. I think he had some clear, shortcomings. And Adam gate survey, the landscape when he got hired because of the cabinet. Ironically, he came into the building survey. Landscaping he quickly found out what some of the shortcomings were, and he sees on, you know, for lack of a better phrase, a leadership, vacuum in that building and eight clearly convinced the owner that, that maybe things weren't handled properly, I don't wanna say that. Adam gates explicitly told Christopher Johnson that we gotta get rid of this guy. I don't believe that's actually true. But I do think that through his actions, it became abundantly clear to Christopher Johnson that this is not a good marriage and you're not gonna fire the head coach you just hire for months ago. So clearly that that dynamic needed to change. And I know that Chris Johnson people in that organization had reservations about the canyon toward the end of last season to begin with so all factors played a role as to why the, the owner majors unconventional decision. Or maybe not the unconventional decision, but the decision to maiden firing at an unconventional time minis, the jets for the new deal news. Joining us here on the odds, you know, the running back position the patriots since we talked talking about them, you know, they don't spend normally a ton of money and free agency on that position, they haven't in the past. They've run in guys veteran guys on the cheap. They've used first round picks on running backs in the past, but not, you know, big time contracts, like what was given to lay on bell to join the jets organization was that, like the breaking point was that the biggest contention or were, which is kind of the combination of everything that happened in free agency that caused the split can the GM in the coach. The breaking point it was clearly the biggest disagreement. So, you know, maybe that's antics, and you can say that's the breaking point, not exactly sure what the last you know, the, the last straw was. But clearly, it was the most significant piece of the puzzle regardless of what story lines are out there today. The reality and the truth of the matter is that Adam gates, did not want Levy on belt for reasons that you just outlined, you know, in terms of what the patriot model is. I think it's I think it's fair to say that Adam gates shares that same belief about not overpaying that position about, you know, shuttling guys in and out the using multiple running backs, clearly that had been Adam gaces history. He doesn't he never really had that star power running back Marley, because he didn't didn't feel like he needed that in his often, so he did not want Levy. I'm Bill once he realized that, you know, that ship had sailed and ownership and general manager, one Levy, I'm Bill. He kind of pivoted. And framed it this way. Well, I'll take Levy, I'm Bill, but I don't want to pay a lot of money for them. That's really a different way of saying the same thing because you knew that Levy bell wasn't gonna play for peanuts that you had to quote unquote overpay for him. Ultimately, I thought the jets got a you know, a fair deal relatively speaking, it's essentially a two year, twenty eight million dollar deal forty million dollars. Obviously, this day and age of football is a lot for running back. But I think everybody follows football. Kind of realize that Levy valve is gonna get what ten twelve fourteen at the very top maybe fifteen sixteen million dollars. So the jets got something that is in that range and more than a typical running back. Absolutely. It is. Adam gates, did not like that. Because again he didn't want the player to begin with. And then if you were going to get the player try to get him on the relative cheap in, in his mind, at least that didn't happen, there seems to be some optimism for the jets here with an offense of minded coach in not say Todd Bowles was a horrible guy for the offense. But he was a defensive minded guy that defense for the jets and always really doubt. He did beat the patriots every once in a while. He did get the big knock off the big boy just didn't do it consistently enough. Do not have that's excess that many people thought he was going to have any took over the jets. They've got a young quarterback in Sam darnold to get weapons now with with bell. They've got some thumpers on defense that they've added what's your feeling about this year for the jets? I mean, they win nine games are going to be in the converse. Probably for wildcard, maybe need to get the ten or eleven but you win nine games. At least you're you're feeling good about the future for the franchise. How do you feel two thousand nineteen might go for New York? I think they should be in the playoffs conversation. And if they're not then that would be a failure. What does playoff conversation mean I in my estimation that means that you have a viable chance of winning division, or getting one of those two wildcards spots in the back half of December? So when we're in mid December, that, that yet still have a real possibility of, of making the playoffs that, that is what this season really needs to be 'cause even doesn't. I do think that it will not be a success if they fall short and don't make the postseason. I, I don't think that's necessarily a failure because remember Todd Bowles won ten games. I they did not make the playoffs so right? You're talking about nine games. You could very easily not make the playoffs if you win double digits, the game as well. So I think they have to be in that conversation if they're not that would be a. Massive disappointment. I am of the belief that regardless of what has happened over the last four and a half months in terms of the head coach relationship with the general manager. And whether he did or did not have significant wall in having the general manager fired. I do believe that Adam gates will be good for Sam darnold. I think he relates well to players on a one on one basis across the board because we saw some dissension with some players in Miami. But by and large he does have a good way about him. He does have a good way of interacting with players one on one. So the fact that he didn't want Levy on bell to me is relevant here. The players here, now I think that Adam gates a smart enough to utilize him in the proper way. And to, to maximize his guys Gill sit. If Sam darnold does not take a big step forward. However, let's just say he is at, you know, like last year. Not not bad. Not great. How concern jet fans be about darnold being the franchise quarterback going forward? That's a great question. He kinda just repeats when you last year remember he missed about a month, because he hurt his foot, but if he's up and down and doesn't take a significant step in the right direction..

Bell sticking with 'formula' over voluntary practice

"I understand that the voluntary. But sometimes it's prudent to volunteer, especially when all your teammates are doing. You got a room full of new guys you're trying to get acquainted with. And they're probably all wondering what's his Levy on bell guy? All about this guy. We're paying all this money to this guy. Who's never played for us before that's money that could have been paid to guys who have been here busting their butts. But the superstar decides he's not going to show up the same petty personal differences that can pollute any workplace in America. Will pop up in the locker room. I guarantee you there are guys in that locker room. They're upset that lady on Bell's not they're they're working. Where's he voluntary? Okay. Fine. Concepts like team building come roddenbury shared sacrifice. But it's voluntary. I saw so many tweets. Emails comments. Was it a story that living on Bill isn't there? It's voluntary. It doesn't have to be there. Okay. Spoken like someone who's never been part of a team before. Maybe bells part of a team. Boy, I'm salty. He's part of a team. He took a huge check from the jets, and he's not there, and he's going to have people in the locker room who are pissed at him. Bell who apparently has heard enough criticism for not being there. Good just go. He issued a public service announcement on Twitter. There was a question from a fan as to when he was going to practice or maybe it was one of his teammates with a burner count. When it's time to play football bell answered. I guess I didn't use the right tone of voice when it's time to play football. That's it. I thought it was a pre-emptive something more. When are you going to be here when it's time to play football? I gotta stick to the formula that works for me to be the best player. I can be. I'm not just trying to win football games. I want to ring I wanna desperately show other his head again. At least he doesn't say the new patriots. I want to desperately show everybody. What I can really do. I'll take the heat right now. Everybody forget about that once January everybody will forget about that. Once January comes around. Okay. Now, coach Adam gates recently said. The bell was here the first week of offseason workouts. And we got a lot of information that week to him. He has a pretty good training regimen that he goes through. We know how to get his body. Right. If you're training camp in the regular season. Okay. Good good. I still guaranteed cases pissed the deep down. He's pissed. The guy's not there. He's gotta be. Scott. You're trying to build your team. You can't build your team on one of the guys off working out on his own. And I think we in the media allow ourselves to be shouted into a corner on this. Yes. It's voluntary. No coaches aren't allowed to say. It's not voluntary. They're not allowed to do. Anything suggested is involuntary. But you know, what? When you got other guys, they're already said busting their butts. Maybe

"Officially announce Adam gates as their new head coach you'll be introduced Monday. To Joe Nemeth told the team's website how much he likes the higher. I know I've had the pleasure of meeting him watching him. And I think I really believe he can take the team and help us road. He said he learned something for working in New York for four years with people dealing with adversity understanding situations on and off the field dealing with most of that even media wise. "Sixteen as the nation's second ranked wolverines beat Illinois seventy nine to sixty nine to improve the sixteen. Oh, they are unbeaten at four. No in the big ten, oh, by the way, Michigan and Virginia. The only unbeaten teams in the country back to the NFL Adam Schefter, Chris Mortensen built reporting the Bengals would like to hire Rams quarterbacks. Coach Zac Taylor has their head coach after Los Angeles. This season ends Taylor has been an assistant in the NFL for six years with the dolphins. And Rams again most recently as QB coach under Sean McVay in Los Angeles years ago. Adam gates was considered the Sean McVay even before McVeigh. But after three seasons in Miami. Which produced a losing overall record the bloom fell off the rose, and he was dismissed by the Finns. Miami's loss is the jets gain as New York hired gays as he has been met with polarising views post poured interruption off. He deserved a second shocks, not particularly no, Adam gays. Didn't do anything in Miami. The screamed out you gotta have him. Do we replace Don Shula? Everybody's hearts in south Florida. We've been Jimmy Johnson's. So no, no, no, no, no. I heard this. I just went really we have gone back in time to a very lazy time in NFL hiring where owners and executives in the NFL front office is seems scarred. And they would just rather reach out to anybody other than act with some sort of boldness and intellect and depth and come up with new fresh excite. Leading candidates. They're lazy. So I looked at this one. I've looked at all the coaching hires. And I'm okay so far to this point with all the coaching hires. Matla floor might be a little bit of a strandings berry Kingsbury, maybe a little bit of a stretch, but he has been affiliated with some very talented young quarterbacks this guy. I don't get. I don't get this. He was six and ten last year. He started out three and all this year closed for nine and one of those four was on that miracle situation against England that. That's not him nothing to do with that. So the only thing I could think of is that the head to head with the jets for three years he's five and one, but Mike he's thirteen and seven against the rest of the against the rest of world fifteen seventeen. I don't see it. I'll see people in in New York in the jets offices. They only watch their own thought, Adam gays was George Alice. And by the way, I don't think that Sam darnold at the moment. I think he's behind Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield out a moment. Bought a lot of people. You know, we we we're into the lazy portion this is done for NFL hiring. It seems. All right. So they mentioned darnold. That's the big question. How does he fit with the young jets quarterback high noon with this state? Here's the thing for me, though about the gays higher as relates recipient of the jets which Sam darnold, right? They made be higher for their quarterback. Now gays has gotten his name in this for two things his work with an already formed Peyton Manning,.

"I was just shocked that in the landscape of having a below average offense on just about every efficiency category. Whether it was you know, offense visionary. Whether success rate passing the ball, whether as explosive passing just bottom third in the NFL and now getting propelled into this job. But it's it's the juice of McVay. And then you dig a little bit deeper. I liked the idea of really were leflore is gone quarterbacks have had some of their very best seasons. And I think you would hope that may be able handcuffed him a little bit being a defensive guy wanting to run the ball. I thought leflore news brought the Tennessee was just going to be a grand slam higher. I really did. But what was shocking to me was seeing how much you ran the ball in early downs. It was more than Mike mularkey. So that was pretty shocking in the rebuttal. I got constantly was while us work with mariota? Now. He's got Aaron Rodgers. Yeah. Yep. True. And here's here's a tip any any coach that would have went to Green Bay would have been working with in Rogers. So I mean, it's not really a thing. Adam gates. I know your boys are besides themselves with that higher. Is that correct? They are. And I believe you had a couple of tweets to come in and jets fans, again feel that they've been given a lifeline that Sam darnold was going to be the air parent. They wanted to revolutionary head coach don't appear to be all that enamored with gas being the man in charge. So I usually toe the line here with the information I can give out, but I have been kind of told Adam gays was hired as more of the everyone's happy kind of higher. The organization was extremely split. Some guys wanted Mike McCarthy. Other guys wanted Matt rule and Adam gates was kind of the middle ground compromise. There was strong resistance from half that room on Mike McCarthy half of the room. Did not like that. Matt rule wanted full control meaning bringing in his own DC and OC and management wanted to control those decisions. So Adam gates again was the compromise. I hate that. He's bringing in Dr Loggins, I think he's pretty outdated with his often. So I don't love that. By think from Adam gazes perspective, he got cut a lot of flack down here in Miami. And I can tell you Miami is one of the most clueless fan bases in the entire country. And I think it has a lot to do. And you hate to say this. There's a lot of different walks of life down here. And so you get people who aren't accustomed to the sport of American football. Now kind of being trendy fans and just saying just outlandish things ten and six his first year went to the playoffs his first year. And unfortunately, Ryan tannehill got hurt. And then he had to pick up. Jay Cutler off the couch literally like two weeks before the season any kind of crawled to the six and ten season..

"And we're doing it again. I feel the trend happening and it took a couple of days for me to notice exactly the pattern that we've fallen back into. Because it's not hard to spot. Once you get a whiff of it. But between what's going on in the world of college football in the last couple of days. And now the way we are back to addressing NFL coaching hires. It became abundantly clear that our judgment is falling prey to the same mistakes that I think we may go over and over again. And it's a difficult area. It is a difficult spot trying to predict coup in what will succeed as head coach both at the collegiate NFL level. We don't have a lot of predictors for future success. This is probably a bigger crapshoot than what we deal with players because we know even less about what these guys do in our given even less information. And that's the way we want it. Like, that's what's become abundantly clear in the last couple of days is that we're out here rewarding. The smallest sample sizes that we can and that some decision makers, but that's also some people that are reading the news as well. Because yesterday, I'm sitting around we had another rash of head coaching hirings in the NFL yesterday Adam gays hired by the New York Jets. Freddie kitchens promoted from within. Now the Cleveland Browns head coach and Vic Fangio hired away. The former bears defensive coordinator now the head coach of the Denver Broncos. So we had all that happened yesterday. And I could already hear we're out here in Connecticut. I could hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from New York about two and a half two hours away from here. Pretty solid drive on most days didn't even have to make the trip to hear the sound of angry jets fans that the lebatardshow re purposed into the sounds of hell the wailing and gnashing of teeth because people looked within the division. They saw Adam gay said he losing. Record by a couple of games and said, oh, why are we hiring this guy? Why are we going to go out here and get us an atom gays ESPN NFL jets reporter rich Amini joined Allan the Allan Hahn show on ninety eight seventy SPN yesterday and talked about the disgruntle jets fan base. Going nuts. Right now Twitter survey seventy percent of the fans against his decision. And you don't get it out because you're taking an also ran from your division a guy who just got fired twenty three and twenty five record. And you're making them your head coach angst among jet fans for sure first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio. I don't like a again look at this situation in particular. What have we been hearing all leading up to this that Mike McCarthy was only pursuing this job in this job alone in the New York Jets that he had put everything else off to the side. Mike McCarthy who now has made it clear that because the jets job is off the table. It's going gonna take the year off and much to the joy and celebration of his family. It sounds like to which is there. A reminder of what everyone else around these coaches deals with. But when you're looking at Mike McCarthy or Adam gays. I would like to apply these small sample size to this. But people look once you get a Super Bowl, and they treat you differently. That's judgment metric number one. Is no matter how you got that Super Bowl. And no matter what we've seen from you lately. Once you've won a Super Bowl. You're always a Super Bowl winning coach. You are always a Super Bowl winning player. You are always given that benefit of the doubt. Despite what recent evidence might show because if you look at the last three years of Mike McCarthy in Green Bay and the three years that Adam gates was in Miami Dolphins. They are nearly identical. Both have a single playoff appearance in that three year span both dealt with injuries at the quarterback position. Both were about seven and nine six and ten in the other two seasons. Besides that playoff appearance when both both today ten and six record. The difference is Adam gates did that in Miami with Ryan tannehill when he was healthy. And Mike McCarthy did it with Aaron bleeping Rogers who we expect a little bit more of and had a little bit more of around there. When it came to stability is an organization when it came to all the things that also bleed into these situations. But then all right. Let's bring in Freddie, kitchens to this conversation as well. Freddie kitchens promoted from within the Cleveland Browns head coach down. Freddie kitchens. Who began the year is the Cleveland Browns running backs coach and associate head coach before obviously Todd Haley, Hugh Jackson shown the door. Freddie kitchens. Promoted offense coordinator run of unparalleled success with Baker Mayfield down the stretch of the season. Right. Mary Kay cabinet of Cleveland dot com. Joined Spain and Fitz last night and talked about some of the things that went into that accession, most notably. The one thing that we all acknowledge about this off season in coaching decision. Is that it's about the relationship with the quarterback key, bonded? Really? Well with Baker Mayfield those guys got along very, well, they had a mutual trust and respect on the field. They have a really funny relationship off the field in the meeting rooms where they you know, they kid around with each other. They have a really really nice with four Bakersfield super comfortable with him. And let's face it. The Cleveland Browns right now all about Baker Mayfield the next decade or so in their minds is all about Baker getting them to the playoffs and two championships. So whatever he feels comfortable with right now that they're going to trend toward back. I last year on ESPN radio presented by progressive insurance drivers switched to progressive could save an average of six hundred sixty eight. I did not hear very many complaints about the idea of Freddie, kitchens being promoted to the head coach the other day, and I get it. Because we understand what this off season has been about is about putting young quarterbacks in the capable hands of people that have demonstrated either a relationship with or an ability to develop that position that is where Adam gaze falls into going to New York young quarterback and Sam darnold guy, and Adam gays who has been tied to and heavily recommended by quarterback saw that there were reports the Peyton Manning called New York and recommended Adam gates the guy that he had worked with in Denver. We know Adam gates had also been one tied to Jay Cutler and some of the best seasons that that quarterback had had the most efficient seasons that he had had. And obviously most recently the work in Miami. With a very rarely healthy. Ryan tannehill. I say all that to say this. We fall victim to this. All the time is Freddie kitchens who spent a little more than a decade Zona before that as tight ends coach is a quarterbacks coach before coming over to Cleveland. You don't know what? Freddie kitchens is the head coach. And most of you would prefer it that way. That's the that's the read I get because you've now seen enough of Adam gays to say, yeah, he's got head coaching experience. Which by the way, I saw yesterday that he's the first jets head coach with head coaching experience since what would they who's the last jets head coach they hire with head coaching experience? I'll have that for you in a second because I saw that floating around, but it's been enough of a gap to where that might be a welcome respite at this point. But instead, you think, you know, one of seen enough to say now we're going to put that guy out onto the curb. But the Freddie kitchens higher on the other side you've seen enough of an it's looked good enough for everyone to say. Oh, yeah. That'll work. It's the same thing. We're doing in college football right now with Trevor Lawrence because I heard it up and down yesterday. Trevor Lawrence the national championship winning quarterback of the Clemson Tigers who's nineteen years old one. It is a true freshman looks the part acted the part during their title run, all these different things. But he's got to stay in school for two more years. It's going to happen. Trevor Lawrence going to have a few bad games next year. Trevor Lawrence probably have three games next year where he looks less than the Greek God that we have built him into. And you know, what's going to happen? You're going to start asking questions because you did the same thing with two of this year. The same exact thing were to a could do no wrong to a go. Buy low. Alabama's quarterback was the runaway Heisman Trophy winner. In the first half of the season. And the overall number one pick the next year and people were going to take for two and all this stuff. And then he has a couple of bad games down the stretch of the season where he is banged up and having ankle surgery right after the end of the regular season. And everyone's all ready to jump ship on that one in everyone's already asking questions because that's all it takes. And so we're going to do that head coach to and we're going to do that in a spot where none of us know, what's actually going to be successful from this group, a head coach, we can all look at things and have an idea, we can all have an opinion. We're all entitled that hell I'll sit up here and give you opinions. But the bottom line is I'm continually amazed at the way. That we will sit and reward the much smaller sample size or the championship from years ago. But in between that. You don't give us what we're looking for. Nah out. At eight seven to nine three seven seven six jet fans. How we feel in this morning. Because I I I've got to say from the outside looking in seeing this higher when it was billed as Mike McCarthy, or this seems like a pretty solid or for me, this at least seems that he's a young guy. Brings some energy and obviously had some difficulty in Miami. But we also don't know the difficulty that was going on within their this is rarely very rarely the fault all on one side. Even though it seems like everyone wants to make this out to be Adam gays was the only thing that failed in Miami. Triple eight say ESPN if you want to get in touch with us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. But coming up next we're talking college quarterbacks a little bit there towards the end. Cuyler murray. Can you make more money in the NFL? And why would he want to plus Chicago each popcorn ready first and last here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app,.

"Twitter feed Coleman ESPN, and it if it's ESPN well, the jets apparently have no worries anymore when it comes to finding a new head coach they hire Adam gates who was five by the Miami Dolphins after three years, Adam Schefter, ESPN NFL insider when he was on Spain and fits what was this all about leading the jets to choose Adam gates to take over their team, essentially, they decided that this is the kind of guy that they want to grow Sam darnold with the jets. The biggest thing with Sam darnold. Right. So basically, they think that this is the guy to get the most Etta Chamdo because when they were making this higher again, it was all about growing the quarterback. And this is a move to make that happen when it comes to the jets and the Browns who took. Freddie Kitson's and made him took them for being coordinator to being the head coach both of these teams know, they have it when it goes to the quarterback position Sam darnold. The jets Adam Schefter just said and also Baker Mayfield Cleveland Browns. Ian, when you believe you have it when you know, you have it you hope that you got it, right? Both these teams know they've got it right with the quarterback position. Even though it's only been one year. So they wanna make sure that we believe it. We want to make sure that we have guys in place that can further along. That's why. Freddie kitchens. The great report that he had with Baker Mayfield. And it was apparent immediately the minute they fired Hugh Jackson his head coach. And Todd who was the offense coordinator. That's why Greg Wisden get the job because they didn't believe that. He was gonna further Baker Mayfield along it's the same thing than you jets. They've seen with Adam gates has done with a guy Jay Cutler where he had his best season with Adam gates was part of the coaching staff with him and the Miami Dolphins wherever turmoil. They had they were better offensively. Even though Ryan tannehill was beat up from the feet up seemingly from the day one of training camp for the dolphins. The jets believe he can do that. With those guys we got a guy that we believe is going to be better than those guys. That's why we believe we have it. And that's why we want it. That's what Adam gates got hired by the jets when Kenny hill was was healthy. They were in the playoffs. He didn't make the playoffs with the Miami Dolphins and last year as you mentioned that that's quad was beaten to to. I mean, just beaten the bleep up. So this is not about winning a press conference. Also, I mean, I know jets fans are limited and hi, Adam gays. That's all we got was Adam gays. Hold on a minute you ever Gallup Peyton Manning? Who knows a little something about the game of football making a phone? Call. Unsolicited right. Hey. This is your guy if you want someone to get every bit of that remarkable potential out of Sam darnold. This is your guy. He looked man Tim tebow as quarterback in Denver and went to the playoffs. He did Jay Cutler has actually had a good year when he was a coordinator in Chicago by far his best statistical year as a quarterback of the Chicago Bears. I mean, he wants seven games we're bringing an old beaten up. Retired. Jay Cutler dente play quarterback at Miami. After Tanny hill got hurt. So it's not like he doesn't know the quarterback position. The biggest thing to me is that the jets have to do with John Dorsey already had begun to do with the Cleveland Browns. And that is putting pieces around your quarterback. They hit the home run with the number one overall pick and Baker Mayfield a certain corner behind state turned out to be pretty darn good to at number four, then you draft Nick Chubb who also had a pretty damn good year. You make a move and go get another wide receiver. Right. John. Sandra darn good year. So and then Myles Garrett was already there. The defense was better than a lot of people thought there was going to be the the piece is starting to come around immediately with some outstanding dra-. Picks this year and a couple of trades to help Cleveland almost get to five hundred. So now jets you have your quarterback whisperer a guy who has a track record of being an not just a quarterback guy, but an offensive guy. Now, you have to give he Adam gays and darnold pieces. Go win games. Because it's not about one of your presser. It's about winning games. If it's Freddie Coleman. Freddie and Fitz Simons, an ESPN radio and the ESPN. I'm glad you brought that up about putting people around them. And I think a big part of that is why these moves were made by the Cleveland Browns, bringing Freddie kitchens and why they decided to move on from Greg Williams, not just as a head coach not even considering him. But even moving him out of the organization barricade cabinet from the Cleveland dock from Cleveland Plain Dealer in Cleveland dot com. C said this by Greg Williams had to go with Freddie kids as being the new head coach the Browns. Wipe out the whole Hugh Jackson era and start fresh. Balloons was colored ball. Almost every other coach that Hugh Jackson broaden either lepto today or will be let go soon it's just all about starting over because you can't bring in a guy who wants to share it with a quarterback that starving all over them or tries to you're going to get yours. If the quarterback when the quarterback gets his and you put the right kind of pieces around him, whether you the jets whether you're the Browns, whether the coroner's Kingsbury, whatever coaching highs have been made over the last forty eight hours. The last thing you need especially more than ever before. Ian is that a head coach release all the quarterbacks is star. I gotta share the star any coach tell at the quarterbacks. Do we're all going to win. I'm going to get out of his way. And let him get his shine on to me. You can't have a coach in there. That's going to say what he's successful. That means I'm successful. It goes the other way more than ever before. Especially you got two guys. Why believe starving all over them? Baker Mayfield the Cleveland Browns and Sam darnold the New York Jets. Everybody knows it. If you surround that quarterback with those pieces and you win guests. We also is going to win. The head coach is going to win and everybody else is gonna look good. You try to take that spotlight of believed that you need the elbow your way into it. That's a really good way to move yourself out and divide their locker room, especially more than ever before in this day and age of professional sports, so doubt man, and as we go from gays for the jets to kitchens with the Browns look at the numbers when he took over as offensive coordinator. I mean, it's staggering record one in four before kitchens. Took over Baker Mayfield. Completing fifty eight percent of his passes. Eight touchdowns six I n tease sacked twenty times in five games. Under kitchens calling plays five in three completing over sixty eight percent of his passes nineteen touchdowns eight I n t only five sacks not only. Did he help Baker Mayfield? But he kind of tweaked the offense gave him more protection changed up routes being got the ball out of baker's hand, even quicker embraced his athletic ability. It wasn't just all just about Baker in kitchens coming in and running the same offense. They tweaked it and he got better and better and better the offense got better and better as it went on. And what you're also getting in kitchens is a man who stays to death. I mean for people who don't know this story on full. Disclaimer, I've known Freddie kitchens since he was a quarterback at Alabama back in one thousand nine hundred eighty eight when I was a young student reporter he and his offensive coordinator was getting a Bruce Arians who still for some reason returns text messages love UBA about down here in Tampa. Texting with him yesterday. Love that. Oh, helping out who the quarterback and Todd Bowles reunited again when they were dominating with the cardinals bowls back with Bruce Arians. I'm right there with you on that. And of course, again, biased on that one as well. The kitchens this is a five six years ago. He is he's there their practice with the cardinals when he's a quarterbacks coach. Bam heart attack right there. He told me fits if Bob was in my living room if I was playing with my kids on my boat. I wouldn't be here. I would be dead because he was at the facility. The team physicians doctors were able to get to right away. Then immediately get him to the hospital and that saved his life. Go folks, I can't go read his open letter right before Christmas. Not just a Browns fans, but just NFL fans in general about embracing every moment live in the moment because he's faced the other side of that moment. But there wouldn't be another one. That's who you have a guy who throws everything out there and win. I I was texting with him right before Christmas, Freddie, and kitchens. Got back to me. It was about. Yeah. Congratulations. You're having a heavy echo, baron guy. Is he finally got a shot his response, man? It stinks the way. I finally got it. I hate the way I got it. But now, you just got embrace it and run with it. And I'm saying to hell with it. I'm throwing everything out there. That's the kind of coach Cleveland, you just got. And that dude he's been on brace. Every second of it. Freddie kitchen. From one, Freddie to another embrace the good, my friend do not question the good, especially basically ianfitz said about how you almost was on the the one hundred percent other side of the good, yuck. No longer being a part of planet earth anymore. Embrace the good. Don't question. The good. The good happen to you. And for you for a reason there is no need to go any further than that. If you're Freddie kitchens now, the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Freddie and Fitz Simons presented by progressive insurance pick from a range of coverage options. The name your price tool to find a price that works for you. "My the for the bet on never motivated me to to lose weight and change my life. And that's what I recommend to you. Anyone else, you know listeners. Hey, look this make a resolution bet something it's amazing. How that motivates you even if you don't ever get paid, Tony? You got to you can't Welsh on your bed. That's a good point is getting done. I mean, you got a, you know, mine was dinner. So so villi shading. Shading? Yeah. So this might say the money because I wasn't eating as much. I wasn't eating as much as I the three hundred pound man, I used to be so, but nevertheless, is I said it it really motivated, man. You know, that's kind of what I try to do every year. So you mentioned all the trainers are looking forward to this time of your certainly, and I said it was like black. And you know, they haven't talked to you in a year. Holes year transparent. They're black Friday like in like in retail. You know, it's like they're black Friday. But you and I are speaking on black Monday in the. The day after week seventeen music playing right now exactly as of the time that we are recording. This. There are currently eight NFL head coaching vacancies, obviously new to the Green Bay Packers in Cleveland Browns, had moved on from their coaches. Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired cutter the New York Jets fired Todd Bowles these Cincinnati Bengals finally purged themselves. Marvin Lewis the Denver Broncos moved on from Vance. Joseph the Miami Dolphins shockingly moving on from Adam gates in the years on the cardinals move on from Steve Wilks. The Cowboys Tony will play three of these teams in two thousand nineteen. They will play the Packers the dolphins. And the goodness gracious the jets, so, you know, Jason GARRETT'S record against I your head coach is kind of those back and forth. But it will be interesting. I think to see who ends up with Rodgers who ends up with Sam Donald and the jets who ends up obviously with Josh ROY. Rosen's you look at what the bears have gone on a coach to change a franchise and Greg Williams goes back to Cleveland out. They'd bring a coach for Baker Mayfield. Will by the way. Congrats amazing surpassed rookie record for touchdown passes in a single season. I gotta get some process guy. But as amazing I hate I hate hoping someone gets fired. And we talk about coaches getting fired. The reality is on Monday. It's a as you mentioned eight guys looking for jobs and already looking ahead to next year. The teams that the Cowboys play with I first year coaches. So it's a it's a nature of the beast. And I really coaches on getting as much time they used to get now. Now names you just mentioned we're talking about to your to your guys league Steve Wilks first year ride. So, but I think it's everything is relevant. It's all about what type of how how did you may what happened in the developmental and everything, but these owners. I'm afraid to move on imagined your guy Baker Mayfield, obviously grounds. I think everybody's really excited about they'll be a really hip playoff pick for the twenty nine hundred season. His last play of two thousand eighteen he had a chance to help the kids I playoffs. He threw interception to C J Moseley kind of fitting, Tony I don't. I don't mean. This is harsh as it sounds that. I know you player will get picked off by Alabama one. It's just kind of we were waiting for that you just wanted to wait for the right time on the podcast mentioned that I didn't even think about that. Look you set me up. I couldn't I took away we send each other up. And that was that was a snowball that was a softball for you. But. That, you know, go back to you know, Baker Mayfield. And as a rookie in some of the things these guys not think it's really important NASA. Football leagues a fine. Someone that is compatible with the quarterback. And I don't know. Greg Williams will be there. But you know, all these other coaches again, you know, there's not much patience with owners, and I think that it's really magnified now because they're looking to see, you know, if you have some pretty good players in place, and you bring a coach in and all of a sudden, you know, things go south, and you don't want to regress, and I think a lot of these coaches. Yeah..

NFL Rumors: Dolphins Prepared to 'Move On' from Ryan Tannehill After Season

"Over to the Miami Dolphins need a new quarterback. Ryan tannehill is too injury prone. You saw it. Adam gates said the other day that he wished tannehill would have played better. So the dolphins and the draft order right now and that could change from now until this final week of the season. The dolphins are the number fifteen pick in the draft though right now. So you probably not going to get your number one guy at fifteen so. Maybe they move up the Broncos. And there could be some shakeups report yesterday about Mike Tannenbaum possibly losing his job at the

"That good. I in some ways you wish that he'd still continues. Find a place to have them sit down to make a lot of sense. And he can't energizes Philadelphia team. They believe in him. Yes. There's magic in there. But I think the problem is he doesn't have the team he had last year because of injuries and the trouble had defense. I don't think he tax defense. He had last year. So that's the big issue. I think Nick is good and can do all the things you did last year. I just don't think he has the guy. Eagles are six and seven Rams undefeated at home this season. They share the NFL's best record at eleven to two titans are still in the AFC playoff picture at seven and six. Visit the five and eight giants on Sunday ESPN's Darren Woodson. He has a lot to lose this. They got to win this game. They're trying to stay in the race in a wild card race. They got a lot to prove this week to try to keep on moving all with these winds play that physical style of offense and defense. I don't know of the giants are gonna be able to make the master intensity. I know they did last week. They played against the Washington Redskins team last week. And congratulated the New York Giants guys played heart. But the Tennessee titans rolling into town. They're gonna be playing at a higher level Tennessee likely as to win their final three games to get one of the AFC's wild card spots. So key matchups on Sunday also include the dolphins visiting the Vikings with both teams fighting for their playoff lives. Dolphins coming out that crazy double lateral upset win over the patriots. Last Sunday is being dolphins reporter Cameron Woolf. And now the team is handling what's called the Miami miracle. Yeah. You know, Wendy coaches always had the cliche twenty four hours on win. And that's the dolphins mindset. But it's tough to do. You had the greatest play and maybe franchise history and the Miami miracle king and Drake is selling t shirt. It's you know, they're doing a bunch of stuff, but Wednesday, they tried to channel everything back. They tried to channel everything back to where they are. And they said that Adam gates had a meeting his normal Wednesday meeting the guys. Hey on the Minnesota..

"Ran a lot of different personalities. One thing. I'll never be is reactionary. Don't you think it's interesting though is any offensive coordinator in the NFL holding more press conferences than Todd Haley. I don't hear any other offense coordinator talking that weird. Tell me the last. Why is why is Todd Haley talking to the press every week? I I don't even know Todd. I I think he actually has there's a lot of people. I know in the league that like he's really intense. But he knows what he's doing maybe offensive coordinator, speak locally. And they're just not interesting. I don't I don't know. Don't you think it's kind of weird? It is kind of weird. What how come the dolphins? Adam gates coordinator isn't holding Prescott. How come Josh mcdaniels Frank Reich offense to know who it is? Why is this coordinator talking Josh mcdaniels? But sitting with this matchup it's been fourteen years and been office bigger still remembers growing pains of his rookie season during his most recent appearance a ninety seven the fan. Big bend said he empathizes with Baker about being starting quarterback the rookie. All being. Football games team. Young guy come in. And it's not with. Talking. Physically Berkeley during the value out there playing with gold. Going to do. I was enough to win. If you're if you're a lot easier. He does he does bring up a really interesting point joy. "A call like this might affect a win loss like it did in week two between the Vikings and the Packers or in the case of William Hayes. I've got Adam gates on tomorrow show where a player gets hurt, trying to avoid putting body weight on a quarterback. At this moment that they are willing to wait for next week, don't forget. There's also internal communication among the officials with the officiating office so they can do something informal without making a formal public statement. And you know, I'm sure those conversations go on constantly. But as of right now this afternoon, it seems like they are willing to wait. But look, it's early in an NFL week Tuesday afternoon early in an NFL week. So certainly stuff can happen between now and Sunday, Judy. Thanks Dench the call chat soon. My pleasure. That's Judy Batiste of the NFL network NFL media group. Okay. That's the latest on on the red hot button, subject of of the roughing, the passer call in the NFL. What else do you have over there? A couple of coaching nuggets. Jerry Jones said Jason Garrett will not take over play calling duties from offense of coordinators, Scott Lenihan, of course, Cowboys fans kinda up in arms with there. What their situation as an offense, their thirtieth and total yards per game right now to seventy eight and second to last thirty first and total points. They've only scored forty one in three games, but no move as of yet management manner reporting that Todd Bowles is making a significant change after last week's loss to the Browns. He is going to take back some of the play calling duties on defense from defensive coordinator. Casey Rogers, some of the play calling to some of the pike. I don't know if that's first and second down third down. Well, how about this? When when a rookie rookie quarterback makes his first appearance in an NFL game just or do better. Don't just don't just play the role of Washington generals in narrative. The whole country is watching play out for globetrotter like Baker Mayfield couple of Vikings stories. They play, of course, Thursday night out here in Los Angeles. Mike Zimmer said, possibility. The Dow and cook will play, but he looks if he with a hamstring injury and a weird situation going on with Everson Griffen he is dealing with mental health issues. Interesting. Team said glimmer, it's about him getting better quote in the five years I've been here, I've always loved him. Looks like Griffin is poised to miss a few games as he's dealing with, and we personal always talk about mental health issues on this show. And for good reason, these are no joke, just because you don't. You have something keeping you out of a game that doesn't involve a cast in MRI doesn't make it any less serious while I hope whatever Everson Griffen is going through right now. Gets he gets through it. Splitter. Wow. Some more from NBA media day out here in Los Angeles. We attended Lakers media day will Brown. James met the media for the first time in his purple and gold. And I was asked, obviously a bevy of questions. Couple of sound bites. We're going to play here basketball and business. Why did he come to us Angeles? How much your decision was based on the Lakers in how much the business opportunities, Los Angeles in how do you balance those two. Montezuma was based solely on my family in the Lakers. Listen, I'm a basketball player, play ball. That's what I do. That's what I live by when I do it at the level, I'll do it at everything else. Take care of herself. So you know, as far as my biz those names have been taking care of herself away before I even came here. So to be a part of the Lakers franchise. Somebody asked another question, then somebody followed up about all the other projects. We've seen his Springhill entertainment, obviously on a directed watts of projects, announce Space Jam to has been announced, will any of this be a distraction for on this year between the movie project TV project documentary, it's peo- show. How do you drug will off the court stuff and on the court stuff and keep it from becoming a distraction potentially. How long have you been following me? Apparently not long enough bigger. You answer? I did. Can we just come out and just he's here in Los Angeles because of the following. It's beautiful here. Okay. Not saying. Okay..

"Issues the quarterback spot Ryan tannehill. But Adam gates showing you he's a really good coach specif- from standpoint here, they are three and did not see it at all. So congratulations dolphins. Now, they get the test this week 'cause they will face. The New England Patriots were one and two after getting thumped for the second straight week. They've got some issues. You got a good defense and a good defense game plan right now, you could beat the patriots. They don't have a deep threat that trade for Brandin cooks that hurts them right now because nobody's afraid of these guys going deep. They are. I mean, you when you look at some of the better teams they've had they'd had somebody who can get down the field to stretch it. They do not have that at all. It's Bill Belichick, they'll fix it. But right now, it's a problem, and they're one and to the dolphins are three, you know. And if you're the dolphins you can make some, hey, okay. This is this is a critical week of how these guys prepare. This game. We'll be in New England, by the way. Okay. So it's gonna be a New England New England at one and to the urgency of not wanting to follow two to one and three in the dolphins before. No, I expect Tom Brady and company to be ready to go. But this is an excellent opportunity from Miami to stake their claim by the way the dolphins. Fear defensive in. William Hayes has a torn ACL after making a sack on their car yesterday in their win. Adam gay said on Monday, quote, he was trying not to put his body weight on the quarterback. And that happened. Man. That's awful. Okay. So here it is. You got all these roughing the passer penalty calls out here. And then you see here's a guy saying, right? I'm trying to make sure I don't hurt the quarterback. And then you go get hurt yourself. The NFL, and I talked about it the first hour of the show, and they screwed this thing up. They've screwing this thing up because they are not going out and doing what they need to do to protect the defense is well you want to protect the quarterbacks, but my gosh, you've gone too far. Clay Matthews yesterday hit with another roughing the passer call he hit Alex Smith as he made the sack, but he he didn't do anything wrong. Richard sherman. The forty Niners tweeting out yesterday. Actually tweeting out today in the last twenty four minutes bay don't care about the rest of us getting hurt long as the quarterback is safe. Read that one more time Richard Sherman is tweet bay don't care about the rest of us getting hurt long as the quarterback is safe. So that is Richard Sherman talking about. What happened for the lions dolphins? And losing what are their defense events. Eight five five three two three four six two two. That is the way you can reach show. That's eight five five three two three four six two two. We have two Twitter handles for you to follow at Nui Scruggs any W Y S C R U S. That's at newest grunts. And at new scrub show any W Y S C R U S another win yesterday. I did not see killing my picks how Tennessee going into Jacksonville and getting a nine two six win. Using different quarterbacks in the gang. Blaine gabbert started Marcus mariota had to come off the bench. Need a quarterback? Threw a touchdown. The quarterback do an interception. But they got the dub. Blake Bortles twenty one at thirty four one hundred fifty five yards. No touchdowns. No interceptions. Three sacks the run game. Terrible for Jacksonville. Okay. TJ Yeldham seven carries forty four yards. Then after that. You're Secondly in Russia was Blake Bortles five carries twenty seven yards. They've got receiver issues because these dudes are Jags your leading receiver yesterday with TJ yelled, and you're running back then it was Keenan coal five catches forty yards. Dede westbrook. Three catch thirty one yards for people who think this is a Super Bowl team. I continually cannot by the offense you're going to have to score. If you're going to be a good football team Lindor for net didn't play. But I'm not sold on Blake Bortles. I'm just not he's to jecklin high for me. On the other side, Tennessee two in one and seeing this common. Michael, David Smith of profootballtalk dot com. We both doubted making the firing of Mike malarkey, and whether or not Mike Gabel was going to be the guy. They lost to the dolphins. Twenty seven to twenty. Okay. I criticised Tennessee. I picked him to win that game. But now we see the dolphins or three know. So tennessee. Has to win. They've come in the division. They beat the Texans twenty two seventeen and then they top Jacksonville ninety six or they're in first place right now. Then they're turning around here. The Tennessee titans can make a nice statement for themselves because they get the eagles this week in Nashville. We're about to hit this quarter market the season the National Football League. And yes, there are some teams that have surprised that's why we love this league. That is why we love it. I see this coming from Tennessee either. My picks this week in the NFL trash their trash because so many folks had upsets it was there a bigger upset that we saw then the twenty seven six win by the Buffalo Bills. You're not alone. And everyone's picks for trash this week. I don't know of anyone who did. Well. Just one week. One was similar. They had all kind of losses with the saints losing at home. And now the Vikings are losing at home. It's ridiculous. There's an old adage in coaching. Hard work beats talent. When talent doesn't work hard. That's clearly what went on in Minnesota the bills decided that they were tired of losing. And they were gonna come out and perform they'd have shady McCoy. They went out and they played hard and Minnesota Dayton. A twenty seven six bills win on the road when they were a seven teen point dog. This is. If you're Kirk cousins and Mike Zimmer Kirk cousins fifty five passes thrown when you're when your quarterback though, in that many pats the chances of winning usually you're slim so Kirk cousins t fifty five passes two hundred ninety six yards one touchdown you're making that kind of money. You've got to be better. I am going to put that on Kirk cousins. You've got to be better. All right. Let's do the NBC sports world here. What a day for NBC sports the tour championship.
