Movie Musical 'Annette' Is a Straightforward Story yet a Directorial Fever Dream
"Opera. Annette got this year's Cannes Film Festival off to a boisterous start. The crowd gave a full five minute ovation for stars Adam Driver and Marianne Cockatiel, also for the band Sparks, which composed the music. Our critic Bob Mondello, says that the festival audience going crazy kind of make sense because the film itself is kind of deranged. Before there's anything to look at on screen and there will be astonishing things to look at. We hear the voice of director Leos Carax telling us that he intends what we are about to see to be literally breath taking. Breathing will not be tolerated during the shell. So please take a deep last breath right now. Thank you, And then he gathers his cast. So may we start and they sing their way out of the recording studio. So may we start and into the streets of Los Angeles to start a story of odd couple, Henry and Anne entertainers of radically different temperaments. Henry calls himself the shape of God and stops the comedy club stage. I'm here to make you laugh tonight. A green hooded bathrobe, scowling and muttering at his audience. Yes, laugh laugh. Wow, I'm not sure I can do it tonight. I'm not sure I should. Even trying Making people laugh is, uh, disgusting. He means that alienating paying customers is his stick and has played almost psychotically by Adam Driver. Henry is good enough it insulting patrons. It's amazing. He still has any. But on this night, his rant includes the confession that he's gotten engaged to a far classier celebrity who's played by Marianne Courtyard. No, this ain't a joke so far. Yes, and different throw stuff. What's wrong, Lady and in me, you disagree. Why is she too Perfect. Yes, I and I some loads some insect. Okay, I'll accept that

"All right times checking in with music. I'm handing us off. Mostly kate and amelia. But i did try to contribute at. I will at the very end. But i'm just gonna hand to you now go ahead thank you. This weekend is a big weekend for me personally It's the grammys. Which i don't usually care very much about but might be arguably. My two favorite musical acts are performing and nominated this weekend. Harry styles confirmed to be opening the grammy's slab. I assume it's going to be watermelon. Sugar like which is fine. That was his biggest hit. You know if he's not doing something insane with the watermelon on stage. I'm going to be but like i'm looking forward to it Hopefully he wins. He's never been nominated before and then also never nominated before bt us guys they're nominee. They're performing too big night for me personally if they win. And it'll be the first k pop act in history to win a grammy. Which is obviously you know big for them. Big for the industry. We love to see it so yeah very exciting fingers crossed for both of those. But you know there's been a lot of controversy about the grammys this year as every year. And you know we as a society could like maybe care about them lesson. That would help a lot of people speaking out against them. There's been a lot of discourse about you know history of racism and all that and some very notable snubs first of all the weekend who had the biggest album biggest song of twenty twenty was snubbed for after hours and blinding lights and he was super pissed rightfully so he initially just tweeted out about how corrupt etc and now. He's boycotting them in the future. Which is notable. Because it's not like he's never won before and he's like oh. I'm going to boycott the grammy. He's like one a lot of grammy's and extremely popular in he's like i'm never submitting music. Grammy again And also i like it like put your money where your mouth is scraped and the grammies are corrupt and bad And then also zane. Malik was pissed about being snubbed. Which okay. I mean. Sure you can be. You can be mad too Do i mean that's fine. He said i think. Fuck the sorry this website. I'm on censored out the word suing that. That's what it is. Fuck the grammy's and everyone associated unless you shake hands and send gifts there's no nomination considerations next year i'll send you a basket of confectionary if you read it in his accent. It's better but yeah. That's tough and the weekends. Snob is tough. But you know some great nominees. This year meg. The stallion cardi b. They're going to perform. What i assume is what which i can't wait to see how. Yeah for Taylor swift performing duleep up performing. So yeah i mean. They're obviously it's going to be socially distance to a certain extent. I think some parts will be prerecorded some parts. They're doing like four separate stages in la So we'll see how it goes. I pressed. I remember being impressed in august. With the vm. As because i thought the prerecorded segments are actually kind of better. Because they're smoother and they just cut him yeah the musical performances better so i think it's going to be a mix maybe more alive than the amazed it carry. Are you gonna be live tweeting. This night on the fans are really mad at me lately. Start short but i will be. I will be celebrating myself if they win. Immediate on social media. That is why please. I'm extremely happy in my own home. Mason the occasional harry's tiles thirst tweet they just come out. I can't control them. And i also i really love do elite but i love future nostalgia so i really hope that. Cleans up so yeah. I know that. I'll be live tweeting because i fear the fans and everyone really to be got know i. I'm rooting for everyone. Say most people not sure okay. Cool like that next highly requested by the tea. Baggers got a disguise amelia. What's the news in your corner. Well as some of you may know. The masked singer came back for the fifth season. This is the fifth season in two years. And they okay. I just wanted to say this year. I decided to become even more chaotic than it already was. I thought it was gaining a little traction on the legitimate.

"Dear. Oh, white beard makes me a jolly good Well, a little. Yes, it does not like the other. That's going out to Dave spoke where he said, Hey, How about Look? Tom T Hall? I like beer on this thirsty Thursday, a annoy idea of the day. Jennings had that I think's brilliant. Yeah, there aren't too many th artists know you could tweet us. And you could also get us on. Facebook was know what alcohol song you want to hear. As we get close to the weekend on this Thursday Thursday, I guess I could have taken the Super Bowl halftime Act the weekend and made it through the weekend. There's the weekend Thursday that we can't Thursday. Now I tell you remember, because we often do this. It's it's uh Dwight Witten and Dave Jennings. Tony Vanity is out. On vacation. And normally, when Tony goes out, we kind of do this. We put a theme and we put it to music and we do it on the day. We did hear Tom T Hall Tuesday was one. The first ones we did, and boy I forgot what a treasure he is. Man. I'm telling you, I think our most popular one has to be Tony Orlando Tuesday. I'm just thinking and then I love that we discovered that one of the dawns. Is that from right here in the Louisville? Yeah. Yeah. What's the Valley Hospital? Believe Telma Hopkins. Is that that the Dawn? Yeah, that's the dog. Okay, Let's talk about Hollywood for a second. Do you who Adam driver is because I did not. He's not a big enough actor where I would know. Hey, Adam Driver. He was the original Batman chauffeur. You're going to need you, Uh, take that rim shot back. Oh, come on, man in the jar. Okay, Adam driver. I had no idea who this was. I had to look him up. I did recognize the face he was. I just watched this turd of a movie called The Dead. Don't die because I have a Bill Murray in it. But evidently he was in the newer Star Wars movies. Um, I don't know who he played or what he played. Uh, he's a tall, dark haired guy you might know him. If you seem But again, it's not a Gene Hackman is not a It's not a Mel Gibson somebody that you would think not even a Minnie driver, right? Right, right. That was that was every village as a chauffeur. So can I take the five bucks back? Take it back. I'm even We all know the house always wins with you anyway, though, But anyway, Adam driver I He's not a celebrity in my eyes where he would deem this behavior will be gob validated in any way not to this validated with anybody, But you would think If something like this happened, it would be from a Mel Gibson or whoever you know somebody big someone that we've heard of right the later half of this story about the first half AM drivers in some hot water. He's been accused of attacking his co star on the set of a 2017 movie. It was a Portuguese Portuguese actress. Her name is Lydia Franco. She claims that he physically assaulted her. When it wasn't even part of the scene. They were just shooting a scene. And he starts, you know, roughing her up. Well, she turned, she turned to the staff and the staff sits. Sorry. Our hands are tied with this guy, but you could leave if you like. So he tied them up first. No, their hands were tied. The staff couldn't do anything. Here's Here's why. Um Evidently before he even arrived. Part of his contract had it with these clauses in the words like you can't look at it and nobody can look him in the eye. No, my word, and that goes for all the actors and actresses along with it. This is especially the extras if you're an extra on this film If you if you glance over him, you're immediately fired. Uh, evidently, it's not the first time he's done like this diva behavior. Uh, there's an NPR show called fresh Air, and whenever the host just played a clip from his movie He got up and walked out of the interview. Oh, this is the guy that played Kylo Ren and the New Star Wars movies. I don't know. I didn't see the new Star Wars movies. I tried to watch the first one in like he's Han Solo and Princess Leia son. Is he really? Yes. The only movie that's all looked him up in the only movie that I saw this guy in. He was opposite of Bill Murray. And that turd of a movie that I just I just told you about the dead Don't die. How do you get to the point? I understand some of these musical acts and their riders. Sinatra always said a famous when it was literally just cases of alcohol. But the spinal tap made fun of that with the folding a little sandwiches properly and that sort of thing. But how do you ever get to the point? Nothing that those stuffs right of you can't look me in the eye. You addressed me this certain way I How do you get there? Right. And, you know, uh, Steve Harvey Supposedly there was a clause, you know? Hey, don't talk to Steve Hari, you know, on the set of a black hole, Come on, Steve. But I can kind of see that. Here's why he had a radio show. He did family feud and a TV show with something else. He's stealing jobs from other people a lot of time because he also does the New Year's Eve thing. Two on one of the channels that's like Steve, take a rest. I'm saying, Steve Harvey works really hard. And when you when you're when you're stretched that thin oftentimes you don't wanna bes with people walking down the hallway and people just Hey, working hard or hardly work and then say, Yeah, You know what you're doing this weekend, so I could see people doing Yeah, but as far as the riders go with outlandish things like we need tube socks this next y Z Um David Lee Roth was famous for that with Van Halen. It was for good reason because their production was so huge. That if it wasn't done right, they were endangered. The band would be in danger. So in the Ryder deep in the Ryder, they did that. You know, both of them and ends with No green. Eminem's whatever was brown evidence? What? Eight. But the reason that was done that way is if they walked in They were in the dressing room and they check those bull of Eminem's that was very deep in the rider. And it was correct. Chances are they got the electric the structure and everything else correct. But if not, didn't look out, Let's go ahead and check everything else out. So Eddie's thinking, Okay, get the stack of Marshall's behind me. If there's a green Eminem in there, they're going to.
Celebrities You Didn't Know Were in the Military
"Some celebrities who served in the military that you might not realize since it is veteran's day we have Tony Bennett. He was drafted to the Army and the final years of World War two was right on the front line. Nice. Did you know that Robin Quivers was in the air Force from 1975 to 78. I think that you forget these things. Yeah. And then we also have all just their sons up. Rob Riggle, Clint Eastwood. Adam Driver, of course, was a Marine on DH. Then Bea Arthur, the real Bea Arthur, not our boss. She was in the Marines during World War two, a Zip tie Pista dispatcher and a truck driver.
Ben Affleck thanks Adam Driver for his son's birthday message
"Ben Affleck Ben Affleck thank fellow actor Adam driver I Jimmy Kimmel show last night for recently making his son's birthday special Affleck mentioned that his son Samuel is a huge fan of drivers Star Wars character Kylo ren and the driver had filmed a video message for son he said I played in the video of Kylo ren it was an incredibly moving and powerful moment Adam made me here to my kids and I will never ever forget it was a really good lesson in doing those small gestures of kindness because you have no
Top 10 Performers of the 2010s
"Actually I am kind of I write poetry Snow Book Secret Notebook or your poet. Yeah that's great but you like to hear what sure sure it doesn't really Ryan though. Okay kind of like him better when they don't me to all right so we've heard your number ten. We've heard my number six Adam driver. Who's your number nine performer? The decade? Okay boy this hurts me because it wasn't too long ago I was asking if this was the best actress of the twenty tens and I still think she's in the conversation but Elizabeth Moss. When I sat down to do this list fell down to number nine okay and I think for me. It's it's partly again. I'm backing into the list here. It's partly because her strongest work was on television. I don't know if it's fair. We're a film show so I'M GONNA hold that. It's not fair okay. It probably isn't yet to discount the handmaiden and madman but you're right if you include those. Then how is she? Not One of the performance of the Dick and Jane campion's crime series top of the lake. Yeah so so you know those three works alone in her work in them specifically I mean madman. I made the argument. She's as crucial to that series. Almost as crucial. Let's say Don Draper. She was the lead in in Top of the lake in the lead the handmaid's tale but I look back at the big screen to and The one I love I think great in. I know you love the film more than Me Adam but the collaboration with Alex. Ross Perry's Ben. My favorite thing about those including are probably hurt toured force performance of the last. Ten years is in her smile. I think just from last year and then yeah squeezing in that great supporting part in US last year as well getting to show her comic chops I had to keep her on this list but when I started comparing her to the filmography we're going to get to higher up. Yeah I couldn't put up there at the very top. Yes same process with me. Though she slipped a little further I did begin by ranking top ten actresses top ten actors then figured out how to merge them and go made the cut. I Have Elizabeth Moss in my six through ten actresses but did not make my top ten overall. My number ten is an actress. And this is one where you could accuse me Josh of maybe looking ahead a little too much but I think the foundation of great work in this decade is also there. She is the only other one that woman I'm about to mention. She's the only other one with driver who feels to me like locks. We could already pencil them in for when we're doing this list in ten years okay. We're GONNA look back on the twenty twenties and go. Of course. This was the decade of Adam driver and of Sir Sha Ronin the three great performances come in Brooklyn in Lady Bird and of course last year in Greta. Gerwig 's little women and there's two great films there for me all time great films frankly in Lady Bird and little women. I'm less high on Brooklyn though I like Brooklyn quite a bit and I really do think. It's a wonderful performance from her. She also appears of course in Wes. Anderson's Grand Budapest hotel and I really liked her in Joe. Wright's Hannah for me. Ronin is the insistent innocent. There is some naievety about her. As you look at those performances Brooklyn ladybird little women but really just a lack of experience. There's the census. She still has a lot to learn about herself and about the world and relationships. She's going to make mistakes. She's GonNa make a fool of herself but that's because she's always going to put herself on the line there is a determination and there's a voracious nece to Ronin characters that I find really appealing. I was looking back at my notes from our review of Lady Bird and I mentioned the way she just kind of burns with this intensity and this focus. It's almost like she's from another planet in the way she talks and the way she studying the people she's engaging with there is this provocation that is inherent to the lady bird character where she's just so eager to expand her knowledge her base of knowledge. It seems like that's what she's after in every encounter in life and maybe more than anything. Josh the reason why I wanted to make sure I fit. Ronin on this list is I just want to continue to put out into the universe. This idea that I did see floating around social media after a recent Hollywood reporter with Ronin and Greta Gerwig where they talk about future collaborations with each other. And there's a great question by the interviewer posed to Gerwig about working with Ronan and differences in working with her now versus lady bird and I thought Gerg's answer was really instructive. She says it's the benefit of working with someone you've worked with before. I felt like in some ways I had conceived lady bird before I knew she was playing it and I'd written drafts of little women before I knew she was playing it but I don't know any other way to say it. Except she was an author of Lady Bird but even more so she was an author of little women. I felt like she knew exactly what we were making the whole time as a filmmaker as much as an actor she really became a second director for me. It was like an extension of every thought. I had she'd walk out in another step. I think honestly the closest I've had to it is writing. With Noah Noah Baumbach who is her partner. But that's fitting of. Gerwig I think in her personality that she so generous in giving Ronin all that credit as an artistic collaborator but I think it speaks to the intelligence and again that voracious nece that comes through in her character's it's probably embedded within ronin herself. That made her such a good collaborator with Gerwig. And the key line from this is Gerwig saying I'm interested to see what movie we make when searches in her fifties. And I'm in my sixties. WoN'T THAT BE INTERESTING? And I'm thinking that's great but I want to see the movie that you make together when searches in her thirties when searches in her forties. I can't wait until the fifties I would be perfectly content of those to just continue to make movies together until the end of time. So Sir Sharon did just sneak onto my list ten. Hey I like your band with Jona rubies. Len Fans knew awesome.

Oscars 2020 Preview
"HI everybody. It's Peter Travers. Here here with this special edition of Popcorn which we're calling the Oscar popcorn because this weekend on February ninth exactly everybody will be watching. Being the Oscar telecast on ABC and probably having their own little ballot. Like I have here trying to figure out who's going to win this damn thing and if the person I don't like winds pushed I put my money on. That's what really happens. That's what people ask me on the street. So I'm GonNa take you through these main categories and and we'll see what will win what should win and we can argue. You can find me somewhere and we can argue about it. But I'm going to start with with best supporting actress. Because that's how the Academy Awards those that's always the first award that we say Kathy Bates in Richard Jewel. Laura dern in marriage in story Scarlett Johansson in Joe Rabbit Florence Pew in Little Women and Margot Robbie in bombshell so look. There's it's a lot of good people here and I have to say right at the outset. That Scarlett Johansson is one of those rare actors that has a nomination as best actress. Chris and best supporting actress marriage story for Best Actress in here supporting which usually gets you to win one and that usually that it's usually that one but it's it's not going to happen you know I'm sitting here saying did I read wrong. What happened to Jennifer Lopez and hustlers? Hasn't she been in this game since the release Lisa Hustler she has and yet the academy you bad people have decided that J.. Lo just wasn't Oscar material while you're wrong but look we we have to deal with rats here and I'm going to say that the person who will win in this category is also the person who should win. And that is Laura Burn and Laura dern in marriage story plays a divorce lawyer and she's a tough one and let's think of all the Hollywood people that are voting for this award and how every single one of them I'll wager. A BET has their own divorce lawyer and has been through this process. Maybe more than once. Maybe two we're three times to do it. And they find Laura Dern Dunn's in this movie something spectacular it's also one of the few awards. I think that marriage story story is going to win. But Laura Dern has never won an Oscar. This will be her first time. Everyone loves her. We all love and big little lies and I think this is her time on so let her have it all right. I'm moving onto best supporting actor. Tom Hanks in a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Anthony Hopkins in the two popes Al Al Pacino in the Irishman Joe Pesci in the Irishman and Brad Pitt in once upon a time in Hollywood. Look you're talking to a big Irishman fan here so if it was me saying come up for the gold it would be Joe. Patchy I know Joe Pesci doesn't do any publicity. He basically sticks fix to himself. He's probably tough guy in real life as the gangster that he plays in the Irishman but that performance is amazing and won won his first Oscar for another score says he movie goodfellas where he was the most scary gangster. You can see here. He's kind of quiet dawn. So if I'm I'm giving them it would be Joe Patchy but the academy is giving this award and no one. No one can win. This except Brad Pitt. These other people here Tom Hanks Anthony Hopkins Al Pacino and Peci all have won Oscars so they already have the gold. Do you realize his full career. Brad Brad Pitt has never won an academy award game over people. This is it Brad. You're going to get in once upon a time in Hollywood playing a stuntman. It man playing somebody who's been around the business. I think it's irresistible for Hollywood to say I'm going to reject one of my own. Plus he was great in the movie. You seem to hear my voice that I have a little bit of a problem. Yeah I do. Because that's not a supporting performance at all that his part is the equal who of his Co Star Leonardo DiCaprio's WHO's nominated for best actor. So why is he in that category. I think they want to win. And Brad you might as well prepare repair your speech right now okay. I am now moving onto best actress. Cynthia Haribo in Harriet Scarlett Johansson in marriage story. Sir Sharon in little women. Charlie's Sharon in bombshell and Renee Zellweger in Judy. What Best S. actress award so far from the Golden Globes to the critics choice awards has it Renee Zellweger one? She's won all of them. So is there any possibility ability here for something else. I mean. Look what Charlie. Stern did in bombshell. She not only plays Megan Kelly. The makeup geniuses have made her look exactly exactly like her and Charlie's has talked exactly like are they love bio pics there so she should be really strong. Social Ronin is like twenty five years old. She's he's on her fourth Oscar nomination. This is incredible and Scarlett Johansson. Like I said nominated for best. Supporting actress and Best Actress. Cynthia revolt is playing Harry Tubman and she also wrote the song from the movie which is nominated. That happened to somebody last year. Didn't it yes it was lady. Eating Gaga Lady Gaga was nominated for writing that wonderful song from stars born and his best actress. But what did you win. She won best song and that was it so I have to say that again. I would give this award person late to search for Ronin just because I think to be that young and to be that consistently brilliant is amazing and her performance in little women. Is that good. But it's Rene as I talk about. How Hollywood would love bio-pics this is? Judy Garland that she's playing judy. This is one of their own. Did they ever give. Judy Garland her own Oscar Competitive Competitive Acting Oscar. Never and I think for that reason not only will renee Zellweger win best actress but she will win for Oscar. Judy Garland on never had. It's their way of saying Judy. We love you. We were so stupid not to give it to you. And we're going to give it to Rene in honor of you. This is how Hollywood works. It's really crazy. But if you're betting on this you have to bet crazy. Aright best actor Antonio Banderas in pain and gory. Leonardo di Caprio in once upon a time in Hollywood Adam driver in marriage story what came Phoenix and joker and Jonathan Pryce in the two popes. I look at this category and before I get into. Who Will Win and who should win? I've I've got to say academy what you have against Comedians. And what do you have against Eddie Murphy. That he's not nominated for Dole. Might as my name what you have against Adam Sandler who proved his dramatic chops in uncut gems. Like nobody can believe and yet they have it they only like to give Oscars to actors serious actors who played comic roles. Ause they hate anybody who's making a living as a comic to actually win this war so this year's been going along I've had this feeling that this was Adam drivers to lose that performance in marriage story is one of the best things he's ever done or that I've seen this year and yet there's this other guy and who's that other guy he's Joaquin Phoenix plane joker. Sometimes there's that kind of performance sometimes. There's there's one that just so dominates the screen. That is such an act of immersion of from an actor in a raw. Yeah Joaquin was scary. He was sometimes funny. He was always touching even though he's playing somebody who's totally out of his mind and a lot of this movie his in his mind. What Cain has been nominated several times before and never one Joaquin? This is yours. I can't believe any set of circumstances. Stances if you WANNA bet the whole house on something and somebody to win it's going to be Joaquin Phoenix as best actor for joker game over all right. We're ready now to move on. I'm going to best director now. This is one of the most exciting categories because these people will these particular men and save and because Hollywood as wont of decided that even though there were more women directing movies than ever before four last year. They couldn't find any to nominate which is of course absurd because Greta Gerwig directed little women which is nominated as best picture and they. I thought no I'm just GONNA do five men like we always do what happened. You people sort of learned a couple of years ago when you nominated Greta. GERWIG quick for Ladybird didn't give it to her. But you nominated her. The KADEMI is ninety two years old. Now how many women has given an academy award for directing one. And that's Kathryn Bigelow for hurt locker. Ninety two years one award hang your head in shame name anyway not knocking any of these men that did get nominated. But there's one in there that I would sacrifice for Greta Gerwig but you you try to guess who that is anyway. Here they are. Martin Scorsese the Irishman Todd Phillips. For Joker Sam Mendes for nine thousand nine hundred Seventeen Quentin Tarantino eighteen. O for once upon a time in Hollywood and Bung June hope for parasite every one of these guys you can make a case for. Martin Scorsese Z.. To me is a master the grandmaster who only has one Oscar for directing and then the Irishman is doing some of his best work. Ever Quentin Tarantino. Not No with once upon a time in Hollywood is also a peak form and yet I'm saying this category is going to between two other the directors one of them being the South Korean Vong June Hall for parasite a Foreign Language Film. That seems to have got everybody excited about what's possible and then Sam Mendes for nine hundred seventeen a world war one movie that is constructed to look like it was done in in one continuous. Take how do you resist that. You don't even though I think they would really like to give their best director award worked. Bon John. How it's going to be for Sam Mendes for creating a war movie like no war movie we've ever seen before so sam I think think it's yours but if you're getting out there and you WanNa go to Bung Jun Ho? You know you might do it because there's always a surprise in these contests we can't go. Oh by what the odds are we have to go by sometimes the academy saying I have an instinct for this. I have a feeling this is the right way to go all right last category. Are we ready best picture of the year Ford versus Ferrari the Irishman Joe. Joe Rabbit Joker her little women marriage story nineteen seventeen once upon a time in Hollywood and parasite here is is the one you know every year I do this. It's between one or two movies this year. I can't reduce anything to to the Irishman my estimation a classic one for the ages. Martin Scorsese. Ed Is Best Robert De Niro Pacino. Joe Patchy making a mob movie about old-age age about the end of a mobster. This is the punishment that they get for the lives they live. There's nobody in their lives there alone. It's a tragedy Quentin went and Tarintino. Once upon a time in Hollywood is writing about Hollywood in the sixties and about a time that he thought was the last creative burst of Hollywood Hollywood and doing that. Nineteen seventeen again the World War One movie shot to make it look like. It's one continue steak and parasite a movie about a Korean Rian family in which they exploited the people they work for and then are exploited by the people working for them it is a classic. These are four incredible classics. So what am I gonNA do. What am I going to tell you? What's out there that you have to say? This is the winner and I'm going to go with with all excuses. No excuses in fact to my love for the Irishman. But I think this is the year of Quentin Tarantino. I I think once upon a time in Hollywood being a love letter to Hollywood and being voted on by people who live and work in Hollywood Quentin Tarantino despite right brilliant work with pulp fiction inglorious bastards reservoir dogs Django unchained has never won a Best Picture Oscar or a best director Oscar. Never it's never happened. What better time than now? When he saying Hollywood I love you? I think it's time Hollywood to say to Quentin Tarantino. I love you back back. So you've got it watch the show and afterwards we'll have a discussion.
'Parasite' winning best picture would make movies richer
"So the nine best picture nominees are of Ford. Vive Ferrari affordably. Ferrari is Christian Bale and Matt Damon in the story of Ford trying to build a car to beat Ferrari in the lemond race The Irishman when is the Martin Scorsese Film. which is on Netflix? That you might have heard. It's three hours long. Gioja Rabbit is TYCO I. T's story about a World War Two to that is the one with the where he plays a an imaginary Hitler. If you've heard a joker of course Joaquin Phoenix as the comic book character. Sort of little women which is little women you know Little Women Louisa May alcott and book adapted by Greta. GERWIG marriage story which is Noah Baumbach. Big divorce film with Adam driver and also Scarlett Johansson nineteen seventeen which is about two young men in World War One cent. On a very dangerous mission started by Sam Mendez once upon a time in Hollywood Hollywood. Is Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino's story about the Hollywood of the very late nineteen sixties and parasite which is Bongino Jin. Ho's Really Fascinating story about two families who come together in a very unexpected way Glenn Gimme a quick will win. Should win on best picture. I'd be happiest with parasite movie that just gets better and better. The more you think about it I'd be okay with little women or once upon a time like movies I'd be a little disappointed if it was Ford versus Ferrari for reasons you can hear more about in the full episode and if it is the joker I'll scream into a pillow Because I kinda hated that movie the oddsmakers have nineteen seventeen winning which is surprising to me. Because I like that movie but the best picture of the year really. It's Oscars sensitive from war movie and it's kind of a traditional Hollywood movie in some ways but then at the same time. It has the kind of showy element of having the you know. Made to look like one shot. I I will just go next and say I would pick parasite and you know. I'm going to stick with will win parasite because the last time. I had a tingling feeling that it was going to being upset. It was moonlight backed off at the last minute. So did the telecom. I robbed myself of an opportunity to look smarter than I am. So I'm going to say will win. Parasites should win parasite. I'm okay with nineteen seventeen. I think there is some lovely filmmaking there. I admire fire the accomplishment of it Bob. What do you think will win and should win? I think one thousand nine hundred will win because it's just everything seems to be driving that way it didn't start out that way. What's interesting sting is at the front runners? Initially were supposed to be Once upon a time in Hollywood and the two from from net flicks Irish marriage. I'm sorry Mayor Story and those have kind of disappeared from the conversation. I think it's safe to say none of those have a real strong shot anymore. I would love to see parasite win. Yeah Stephen Anything. I'm in somewhat of the same boat. I would be thrilled of parasite one I would be thrilled if a little women one. I love that movie so so much. I went on record in our resolutions and predictions show. I predicted addicted. That once upon a time in Hollywood was going to win best picture. It seemed like everything was coming together for The Oscars love movies about the magic of movie. Making it is is a movie about old Hollywood. You know who else is old Hollywood. Everyone who votes for the and so I felt so much like and also Quentin Tarantino. Not No he is an Oscars favourite but he typically get's nudged over two screenplay and then doesn't win best picture best director so I really felt like he had an enormous amount of momentum going going in but I agree that nine hundred seventeen seems to have kind of swooped in and picked it up and I. I really liked that movie a lot. I admire that movie a lot. I would be perfectly content content and satisfied to have it win best picture but this time next year it will take me thirty to forty five seconds to remember what won best picture unless it's parasite unless it's it's parasites will be talking about it for decades. Well I think I wrote about this a little bit if you subscribe to our newsletter which is at NPR dot org slash pop culture newsletter. I wrote about this last week but I do think there's a chance that will be parasite partly because the opening up of the best picture category. which originally was talked about as a way to bring? In kind of popular blockbusters that are also of quality. Got A lot of talk about the dark knight and things like that but it's actually done is bring in more smaller films and foreign right language films so eventually it's GonNa Happen. That one of them is GonNa win. Might as well be this one. I think it might be this year. I think people just like that movie. Yeah and the fact that the US preferential voting for this cat this particular story. COMP look it's way too complicated to get into here but basically what it means is if people liked parasite recite for example enough to what it number one number two or number three. It's got a better than average chance or second. Choices have a have a better than average less polarizing films. Do you better than the ones that everybody likes. Even if it's not their favorite
Adam Driver Hates Watching Himself in Movies
"It'll be interesting to see during the Oscar. TV Show exactly how Adam driver reacts when they play a clip of his best actor nominated performance because he hates seeing or hearing himself on screen so much that a few months ago he walked out on Terry Gross in the middle of an interview for fresh air when she played a clip of him which surprised me because when I talked to him in two thousand thirteen he was indulgent as we watched one scenes from the TV show girls. I did ask him why it made him so uncomfortable. I mean lots of reasons I just forgot why look like to was reminded in my God. That's what you have to go through that But mostly because I feel like If he was gonNA continue if it was going to kind of go on that You know I came from a theater background or you. Don't get to look at the end result or what what is actually being a Brosseau. You just have to do your homework than As much as you can then show up on the day and be open to something being different or not knowing the answer and I think think in things that I've watched in the past one I would just obsessed about them for months and drive myself crazy after you saw your work of things that I wanted to fix and change your or do over again in an obviously you can't and and same thing with the people around me. I just drive them nuts with like ask him quite so we would just couldn't wouldn't it be allow you to like. Oh next time and I won't do that or get better the next time. I don't think it's necessarily a good idea. Just kind of seems to be what I think. I have a natural tendency to try to make things perfect or better looking or Change it for the sake of changing at arbitrary Changing making it look better in the things that I'm interested in an watching in film theatre and television role is the imperfect or the ugly part of it. I just know it myself. Especially while we're shooting I have no interest to see what is coming

Next place is the Irishman which has ten nominations nineteen seventeen also got ten nominations. So did once upon a time. I'm in Hollywood denominations and behind that Gioja rabbit got six total nominations. Little women got six total. Nominations seem with marriage story in parasite recite which also both got six

A Review of "The Rise of Skywalker"
"Welcome to the twenty minute movie review. Today's movie is the rise of skywalker in movie directed by J.J. Abrams starring Adam driver Daisy Ridley and company with a run time of about two hours and sixteen minutes. This review is certainly a very emotional one for me This is a movie. I've been waiting for for some time. It's the final chapter in the skywalker. Saga which spans over forty plus years. You know. I remember going to see my first when I was about six or seven. So you can kind of calculate how old I am from that But I gotta say without sounding cornball or cheesy. This is a very tough goodbye. There's a lot of things I'm GONNA touch on. I'm trying my best to keep Leonard Twenty minutes. This is the only one I have a lot of trouble with because I have so many thoughts We saw the movie on Thursday night a day before it opens up nationally. And and I have my awesome star. Wars Park on I have my beautiful Star Wars crocs. Yes I said that correctly star wars crocs Fox they are phenomenal but it was a Thursday showing nine fifty match three. By the way. If you haven't seen a movie that way okay. I cannot recommend that enough I max an three d together are just. It's a whole different ballgame. It's it's amazing but it's so refreshing to kind of look around around and see all these passionate star wars fans just here for that last chapter to here to say goodbye it. I'm not saying it didn't feel like a funeral. Oh it felt more like a thank you and thanks for everything. Thanks for the memories. That's the way I certainly felt and I could tell other people kind of had that same mentality -ality except for the kids sitting behind me. You know drinking talking sporadically throughout the movie. Please and I've said this a lot if you go to the movies and you feel like you're one of those people that can't shut their mouths. You can't stay off your cell phone please. Just don't go stay home like this. Movie is one that people the winning for for years and years and years and you know these kids innocent enough. We've all been there but kind god'll just stay home. I mean I'm tickets are not cheap to begin with and to. There's so many people there because they there to say goodbye to this the skywalker Guy Walker. Saga they're there to say goodbye to this franchise. It's been their life. I mentioned my case forty plus years for so many years and for someone to think think they can destroy that and take that apart that bothers me. There was a few other issues in the theater. Not near me. It's like a re stuff online about people being on their cell L. Phone and of course there's absolute eight holes that on facebook wherever that loved to ruin movies and post spoilers and it's just I don't okay people like there's people that just seemingly loved destroying your joy that extends outside of movies as well and it's like you know go f yourself like you're not here I mean it's just it's a very sick mentality to have it really truly is and long story short they completely destroy the movie for us. I I you know you'll hear from I review what I think of the movie but I don't know I'll never understand people that go to theaters and maybe it's subconsciously so you don't realize they're absolutely destroying movie even when you're like innocently talking to somebody next to you. You know many times older people do this. And not realize they're talking out loud like for me the cinemas Mike Cathedral the church is Mike. If you dress where I go to just you know just just key decompress. It's a place of passion for me. It's a place of solitude for me I love it and for people to go there and kind of ruin that I have so many problems with but let's move on with the good stuff. Okay so the rise of skywalker emission as almost a two and two hour and twenty minute runtime and it did feel like Our saying goodbye to a friend and I don't know the movie looks phenomenal the movie itself when you sit there the movie just POPs off the screen it this so good so well put together from that point of view from just popping off the screen the way it looks it's Jj that's such a great job with that I I gotTa tell you what I loved about them. If you're right so that was one I love you. And you'll see that the force kinda takes a new level right. The powers displayed by those who have the force in this movie. Rise to a new level in that was awesome so awesome. I love the fact that the gang was all back together. That made me feel so happy to finally after all these movies. You See Paul and thin and you know ray together. It was really great C. Three Po rt to they're all Carrie Fisher to some degree to it so to see them together. And that's rewarding in itself you. You know there's some other things The Sixth Planet I thought was kind of cool. Little thing there. You'll see that when you guys go to the theater not again none of these. I don't think our spoilers or take away from the movie. Palpitation is really really scary. Gary and again you see him in the trailer. So it's not really a spoiler but Palpa Emperor Pal Patine went from a guy who is just flat out evil to now. He's it's just pretty much like the devil and I love how they did that. It was a so creative so wonderful so kind of original the way they did that. People like world. We need palpitation back in the movie. You could debate that. I love the way they did. It I thought I was worried coming into it saying. Why are they recycling? Emperor Powell between but such a great job in how they did it I WANNA say and I know people say this all the time when a great performance on three and like Oh that person she wouldn't award or that person should it'd be nominated that being said me being a hypocrite. Just now I'm GonNa tell you Adam driver in daisy Ridley both serve some type of recognition for this and I'm not talking about people saying how great I'm saying Academy Award Nomination Good. They are so good in this movie. I was not expecting it. I know they're both phenomenal actors actors. I was not expecting what I saw today. And I compare this to the last movie. I reviewed the Irishman. I know it's a completely different type of movie movie but acting is acting in these two. Were beyond any acting. I saw in the Irishman. Adam driver has taken it to another level level. He is just you know he is solid a-list at this point but his ability is is scary. Good I didn't realize he was this good. And boy support around display and boy. When you see it you will be absolutely rewarded for going to this movie? Just based on his acting alone. I love light speed skipping get being negative show a little bit of light speed skipping that is worth it so for all the reasons I just mentioned. It's one hundred percents worth seeing. And you have the phenomenal John Williams Liam soundtrack who has left us. You know we'll get Indiana Jones Star Wars. John Williams has done so much for us as a composer. You're glad it's almost like expect greatness. And he delivers every time. It's obviously his last movie. I'm doing a score for Star Wars and I love how they ended with John Williams composer her score. I love that he was so good and he has a and I noticed it because I listen to music. He has a brief cameo in the film. which is Kinda cool as bartender so beyond offer that that is John Williams? We'll notice that I noticed it because I'm a nerd It it was. It was a really kind of cool a little cameo but the music is just so good the movie itself up to this point. I can't recommend it enough. Go see it. It's just so oh good and if you if you're like me if you've grown up with this you have a legitimate passion. You have a legitimate love for this franchise absolutely to go see it because what I've listed in the first ten minutes of this review is enough to warrant you going to see this.
"adam driver" Discussed on NewsRadio KFBK
"Fighting sequences between daisy Ridley and Adam driver and the space battles overall a really exciting there's a lot to take in here so he's he's crammed a lot of stuff in here and some people are you know a little concerned about that in terms of how to buy it yeah too much but you know I think it will spark a lot of nostalgia for really the Die Hard Star Wars fans I think he touches he connects all the dots pretty much with this one and you know I saw this in three D. and sometimes movies use three D. just because they can use it really doesn't add anything but this one if you can if you can afford to get that extra it really adds to the movie going I would say it really works the extra money to do that and so you know I I really enjoy this when there are a lot of people dressed up with the plan a lot of people getting into an already I think Thursday they said it's already made like forty million yeah so I'm giving this one three out of four stars okay the new Star Wars movie yeah he liked it okay all right I would I would see it again and now the other one we got is cat cat you know I want to see this one with you as I know yeah because I know your big cat I love cats but but I'm not human cattery cats well no I I saw the plane and we couldn't yeah and you know see I didn't love this one or hated it was just it was just weird it was like fascinating but weird in a in a really strange sort of way it's courses and people know the story it's about an annual cat contest known as the delicate Balinese presided over here by Judi Dench old Deuteronomy and so she chooses a special cat that will have a wondrous reincarnated life after their death well there's a big bad cat does play by aegis album and he has other plans he has the alter your modus and but I'll tell you the the cast is terrific Taylor swift Jennifer Hudson in McAllen James cordon rebel Wilson and the newcomer Francesca Hayward who is the ballet dancer alley dancer well a shilling I would like to see her in some really good because I think she has she has a real promising career ahead of her but I take it takes some getting used to to see these digitized very human prancing around and the music is memorable Hudson those blistering version of memory is really good and a her do that on yeah yeah she was really good and you know just Jason the real he only sees as Rumsfeld Koger with this provocative dance that everybody has everybody go what what is there's a lot of head scratching moments to it but I you know I couldn't turn away from it so you know its it's okay you I'm giving it to four stars sounds like I know no I wanna will see yeah I mean I wouldn't sit.
Adam Driver Walked Out in the Middle of His Interview With Terry Gross
"Do you feel that deal it. The air has changed changed. And we're now in the middle of a magical time in history. That's right Adam. Driver has somehow become one of the most famous people alive. How do I know this because it seems like? He's at the centre of different major controversy every single week. People Love Adam driver. People Hate Adam driver. I mean folks folks. This is the time to be alive. Today's Adam driver news revolves around him walking out on Terry Gross in the middle of fresh air interview that he did to promote his movie. Marriage story daily beast. Got The exclusive on this. They described the incident as follows and I quote sources at. NPR told told the daily beast. That driver walked out of an interview earlier. This month with fresh air host Terry Gross after expressing displeasure at the idea of listening to a clip of himself. Singing being alive from the musical company drivers character sings the song late. In Noah Baumbach New Netflix film marriage story and quote. Wow okay okay. So Adam driver walked out on Terry Gross. Because he didn't want to hear himself saying I mean that's kind of relatable. He also did mention before the interview. that he it doesn't watch clips of himself. Some people are calling him a diva for doing this. A lot of people are coming to Adams defense. Low calling his walking out on the interview a mental health self preservation tactic in Adam drivers October New Yorker profile. He discusses his anxiety over watching himself perform. The New Yorker wrote wrote quote. The first time driver saw himself in girls on Dunham's laptop he was mortified. That's when I was like I can't watch myself in things. I certainly can't watch this this if we're going to continue doing it. He said many actress declined to watch themselves but for driver that reluctance amounts to a phobia and quote depending on where you stand you either. Thank Adam drivers a diva shore. Like I said or you think he's someone with really intact boundaries. WHO's protecting his phobia or you don't care at all and you probably have a a really nice chill brain? That's not constantly thinking about Adam driver personally. I don't know what side of Adam drive her story. I'm on I don't know if there's a wrong or right side I mean I don't I just don't think about it. I really have to. I have to let this marinate if you are one of the people that's reluctant to make fun of Adam driver for walking out on this interview. That's totally fair. That being said surely we can all come together and make fun of Adam driver for how he used to eat. A whole rotisserie chicken back in the middle of acting class at juilliard. Right if you're behind on your Adam driver news and didn't know eater wrote about this a few days ago saying quote on an episode of the podcast. The film re Roll Drivers Juilliard Classmates Scott Yellow recalls drivers love for Rotisserie chicken to the point where he'd eat a whole one in class eater then unquote solo. WHO said quote? He would walk around school with an entire chicken in one hand and a jug of water in the other end quote. Can you just picture that a young young Adam driver walking into a black box theater with a whole chicken and a whole jug of water. I'm personally picturing the plastic jug of water that you get at the grocery store it kind of looks like it should have milk in it but it doesn't it has water and it has like the blue plastic top and listen. It's not like acting. Classes typically have desks so I'm guessing if Adam driver related eat a whole chicken in acting class he had to have eaten it on his lap the mandated chicken on his lap. Okay and we can all agree that that's funny and worth making fun of. Isn't it beautiful. How we all just came together like that I could cry?
Screen Actors Guild Reveals Award Nominees
"Welcome to the frame Steven Cuevas filling in for John Horn our broadcast was preempted today for special coverage of the presidential impeachment proceedings. But we bring you this special podcast addition to talk about the screen actors Guild Award nominations which were announced today and what better person to call on John Horn. WHO's on assignment assignment in New York? Hey John Hey Steven how are you. Okay so let's start with the nominees for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role. What do we got so the nominees? He's were Christian. Bale from Ford versus Ferrari Leonardo di Caprio for once upon a time in Hollywood Adam driver from marriage story Joaquin Phoenix from joker car. And then probably the surprise in the category is turned Edgerton. Who Played Elton John and rocket man? If you start looking at who isn't in I think. Probably the most was notable exclusion as Robert Deniro for his lead role in the Irishman. He is getting a lifetime. Achievement Award Screen Actors Guild Award. So maybe that was part of the math but Jonathan Pryce was not nominated from two popes. Adam Sandler was not nominated from uncut gems and also left out of the competition was Antonio Banderas for pain and glory. Yeah it was a little surprised to see Bandera slept out you and I talked about that film and I think we agree that it was kind of career. Defining performance Let's move on to the lead actress. Category Who have their we have Cynthia Areso from? Harriet Scarlett Johansson from marriage story. The neon go from us. Charlie's therein Erin from bombshell and Renee Zellweger from Judy not a lot of surprises there. There were two women of color. The surprise I guess was that that search or Ronin was not nominated for little women some people thought Aquafina might have gotten in from the farewell. In fact little women did really badly today in the screen actors Guild L. Dominations and how about supporting role in the mail categories some pretty juicy performances. There are some really good pegues. Jamie Fox was nominated for Justice mercy. Tom Hanks Sup- Played Fred. Rogers and a Beautiful Day in the neighborhood. A couple of actors from the Irishman Al Pacino. And Joe Patchy and then Brad Pitt from once upon a time in Hollywood I said earlier. Jonathan Pryce was not nominated for playing Pope Francis in the two popes. Anthony Hopkins was not nominated for playing Pope Benedict in the two popes as well and this is also one of those weird categories in terms of. WHO's supporting and WHO's lead? It's one of those things where the studios can kind of say to the screen actors guild and the academy and other words as we think. This person is a lead this person's supporting I mean. They're two popes are mostly onscreen for the the same time. And you have Brad Pitt. Who is up for supporting actor? Leonardo DiCaprio for lead actor and once upon a time in Hollywood. I think he put a stop. Watch on it Leo. Joe Might have like twenty seconds or screen time. I don't know it feels like that's kind of tricky. Math and Tom Hanks's probably star of a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Even though he shares there's Screen time with another character again. The studios got to decide of the actors. Don't vote somebody in that category than they don't get nominated yes. Some people might be especially puzzled by the Tom. Hanks category for him winding up in the supporting actor. Can you explain that a little bit like why why that is well. I think if you look at that that film you can say that even though. It's a movie about Fred Rogers. It's really about the journalist whose life is transformed by meeting with Fred Rogers and something similar happened. In the supporting actress. Category according to Variety Kathy Bates is in this film by Clint Eastwood. Call Richard Jewel rule and she's been getting some awards attention in the supporting actress. Category but according to Variety Warner brothers mistakenly submitted fitted her as a lead actress for the screen actors Guild Awards and she didn't get nominated and she didn't get nominated for supporting actress because they had submitted committed error in probably the wrong category. Well who else do we have in the category of supporting actress. Another pretty strong category. Laura dern from marriage stories Scarlett Johansson another nomination for Joe Joe Rabbit this time and then to actors from bombshell Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie and finally Jennifer Lopez from Hustler's right. We have so we have Scarlett Johansson nominated for both lead and supporting actress rare A little bit but you know pretty. Good Year for Scarlett Johansson. I don't think you can fault any of those performances. I think they were both really strong. And you know she's playing opposite. Visit Adam driver. Who was nominated for marriage story? Joe Joe Rabbit as we're GONNA say in just a second got a little bit more attention as well so both nominations. I'd say we're served in both. Were in really good films. Let's finish up with the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Is it true that this winter is often a predictor for the Academy Award Best Picture winner in historically. Yes that has been true but if you look at the last two best picture winner shape of water and green book they weren't even even nominated for the Sag Ensemble Award so yes. It is a good thing to be nominated for in terms of Academy Awards because it's important to note the actress. Branch ranch is the biggest branch in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. So what the actors do in the screen actors. Guild awards is often a good harbinger of what the Oscar Asker voters might do. So the nominees for on Samba were bombshell. Which I think is a little bit of a surprise? Good news for that film. The Irishman Joe Joe Rabbit once upon a time time in Hollywood and the real surprise in this category was parasite which is a Korean film. It's only the second foreign language film in Sag History. The other one one was life is beautiful to get a nomination for the ensemble award. I think it's really important for parasite. I think it's interesting. THAT MARRIAGE BRIDGE STORY WASN'T NOMINATED FOR ENSEMBLE. Neither was little women and so all the power seemed to be going to parasite right now and I would have to say say once upon a time in Hollywood and the Irishman well there you have it this year's screen actors Guild Award nominations in the film category. John you may resume get your New York theatre going. Thank you Steve. And I'll go do it right now

"I learned to be comfortable in it just because it was unfamiliar to me when we started force awakens and not so much in how we were working on it but the scale and size of it. I'd never works on the just getting used to rhythm of a set being so long before we you know there's so many special effects and so many people on set I was used to just smaller groups the people in small rooms with like borrowed costumes. So I mean that's been but just like a smaller smaller people around and suddenly the set in itself is a huge theater for like one hundred people. I took me a while to get used to that. The rhythm in what like the technical part of the you know the CGI th the effects into me a while to get used to but because it was jj and because it was Ryan working on it apart from our costumes being dramatically different than anything. I'd worked before they made it feel like small independent movies. And that I had a preconceived idea that you know you were going to lose those conversations about the humanity and sake of the spectacle of it but B I J J. You don't lose any of that. The first conversations that we have were about the humanity of that character. How do we make that person? Not Two dimensional but someone you can watch breathing unscreened and and so. We didn't in that sense. It didn't feel that that-that markedly different. Did you take anything anything of Kylo. Yeah all sorts of stuff. I have a whole costume. Yeah they know you took it. Yeah Yeah Okay so this is not really taking anything I have two helmets. Have Light Sabers. I have all sorts of stuff. I don't want to do with the costume because right now it's just in a a box but I'm trying to be weird to see you at home. Basically with all right. Here's everyone war museum to me this week. So great and we'll just have this together could do that. All right a sanctuary you've got to-do anybody who comes and visits knows that star wars in terms of you looking at you do you watch yourself no. You don't do it. No I've seen things things like I watch star wars Somehow once but apart from tied down and forced to look at yourself yeah yeah yeah me and no one. I are having a debate about marriage story. You know It's hard to to watch myself for for lots of different reasons. You know you just critical of yourself self. Well it's that and also to kind of really absorb what's happening. You KINDA gotTa Watch it like three or four times to to practice. Not You know not thinking about you doing it and watch it four times. You can't do that and also I feel it just leads you to trying to well not only being self conscious but I kinda like orchestrating it onset so I went on the unaware and being unaware of. We're a camera is or you. You know what you're doing or how you look. I think sometimes we don't have that in life so no you don't have it so I don't want to. I'm not so curious I'm trying to make it look better her. You know unless you kind of have to the thing kind of requires visual well over most of the time. If it's a movie you can do that on the stage you could play Pale tonight and knowing what's going on internally and not really necessarily seeing what the outside is who do you trust you trust your wife. is she a good critic of you did she say she's a great great critic. is she kind or just ruthless. No she's ruthless. In a way that is Is Thoughtful not. I just like you know you suck. Let's let's let's split up but like yeah that would be that would be. I can't stay married to you. Know She's just this she's honest about it as is really good at articulating The good and bad in a way that you I kind of need in life I want. I don't want people around me telling May I also don't want a lot of people telling me what's wrong with it so you try to pick like one or two people that you trust their opinion and they say oh. Yeah that thing so you. You have a problem with. I can see but it doesn't register or or the opposite the thing that you think. It's working truly sucks. Isn't it also almost as bad when when the to me. It's all deserve what's happening to you. I'm really happy for you. Know that it is and you should trust it but I think any actor is a little bit. You know suspicious of this constant praise or you're going to win the Oscar for this sort of like you were nominated for Black Klansman and you get into that race. Do you try. I keep that out of your head. You have totally. I know. It's I think it's really I've been lucky and having people around me who are I mean like you know I'm I'm around my wife my family. They're very quick to tell me all the mistakes that you make and I don't I don't give that much. It's all good. Good all when you do win the Oscar for this which I think you should you should say how did this come from. Nobody around me. Even thinks I'm I'm good in so anyway. Congratulations on all of this. And again we come to the end of the show as we did the last where when I asked you to sing just a little moment I was having a good time. I'm not a singer right. And then Dan people go to marriage story and watch him do like a Sun High Aria being alive. I sat there watching. That was the only time it took me out of the movie. The Bachelor told me he can't sing anything and he does. Maybe the toughest eleven o'clock number number as they call them in Broadway history. How did you steal yourself or that moment? How come you didn't say to Noah Baumbach I can't it was different when you're like you know sing? Sing Sing Jingle Bells as you as opposed to sing a jingle bells okay. Don't you remember the song he did sing for me. No twinkle twinkle little. So I'm just asking uh-huh from Monaco Mall Man. Come on look at this fearless actor. No no no character and that's easier place. I don't know how Kylo Ren be. Would he actually listen to the Henry. The fifth singing twinkle. Drink a little stuff. No Ma'am Damn. I can't do twinkle twinkle. I won't do a little bit of something different. That's their that's being alive quite yet. It's panic time now. All the the world of a song relates to travel but I I don't have to sing the whole. Aw on my bags are packed. I'm ready to go. This is terrible. I'm standing here outside your door. And that's it the way I You're not leaving. I hate to wake you up to say goodbye so kiss me and smile for me talk. Tell me that you wait for me. Holy go on. I'm leaving now doubt. I trust me when you see marriage story. You'll hear what he he could do. Aren't you now going with less Carranza and making a shooting stick. You can't touch it like a nightmare. It's a nightmare so so much fun on that set. Yeah no it's not follow. Thank you actually is credible Komo news ago but it's like opera so we're doing this just a man but I to me. You could get away

thousand sixteen films silence presented the award for to me to be here to present this to you I mean what you what you see before you is a great actor a great screen presence truly gotTa say it one of the finest if not the finest of his Russian driver has to films coming out this fall the report directed by Scott Berns and Noah Baumbach marriage story here's John and Adam driver before an audience telluride looking at just these selected roles that we saw in your real it's impossible to categorize them but wondering if there's a common denominator even the roles are really different when you see a script or hear an idea and how it strikes you well it's a director's medium the director is what I kind of I think of because sometimes I don't I don't understand the character but I trust that maybe over time hopefully before we start shooting that something will come to me and then usually sometimes we start to it'll be maybe a costume fitting that something will sink in or even after we've already shot a week an idea that I now it starts a physical thing or something that was blocking me make sense then it starts to but there is finally a moment and it's different in every movie when either a be the first time I read it or sadly sometimes when it's over where you figure it out when you get that and that made sense to me to also look I came from a theater background and you play for five months and it shows a week and suddenly the last performance always like oh if I could do it now now I feel like I have a better understanding obviously you don't you know that's not that's not how OKA- movies work when you read something and you hear the character speak to you and then you get onset and maybe the directors hearing the characters speak in a different way The divorce yourself from how you have heard that voice speaking to you yeah you quit quit just leave no absolutely not I feel like I've learned to not have a right answer about going on set Ah I've learned to try to do as much research as you can and but I I try not to have an idea that I impose on set because I always feel that that closes me off to other choices you do your homework and do your research but then show up and have to be prepared that six months is down the drain because you've never took into consideration that door opens out or that or that your partner's drum corps that that doesn't happen often but the all or just someone has a better idea and you you have to take ego out of it and be like you know the most important thing is the thing overall not my my journey it's not my job to have a feeling all the time it's the audience's job to have a feeling so why limit yourself by coming in with an idea that you're trying to impose on the other actors from the scene and often I feel like the scene finds it out like it's not all one thing I guess to answer your question how do you navigate your way as an actor who might have a certain way of working when the directors and maybe your fellow actors have different ways of working how do you find the ground on which you're most comfortable and where you think you can act the most competently that's a good question because it involves with every person in some directors there so they're such visual storytellers that it's really hard for them to articulate what it is that they want from you and that's fine it's it's it's just a different way like soderbergh for example well shoot things incredibly fast and one or two takes to do the scene in this we call Logan Lucky where the drive a car into a convenience store and he's like do you WanNa do it in my car and he's like well we'll do it but we're only get to do at once so then you start to get yeah it's totally fine until they start counting down ten nine of the money and time that would we'd lose if they'd gone wrong really start turn your mind and then that's it we did it once and that was the only but all of this means we're kind of like that he would pick up the camera typically all those conversations that you would see deep diving with the director you know a guy lighting it and all those conversations are happening in his head plus he's editing as he goes along too so you're just kind of watching him waiting for him to Kinda sat down the camera then everybody knows what's happening and by the time you break for lunch you've shot everything for the day so it goes incredibly fast then there's other people that will shoot fourteen sixteen hours a day you know they're they're I've learned to adjust it's kind of similar to what I was just saying the more you try to control something that's uncontrollable than than the the more it's less fun you recently doing burn this and and I'm wondering when you're doing it play and then going into film or television what are the things that you might miss but retain as an actor who's doing it show in front of a different audience every night when you're not able to replicate that on a film it's a totally different thing it's working with Mila for example well he likes to do a Lotta takes in that actually feels more familiar to working on a play because the lines of the lines there's no there's no Improv this is what it is we're blocking it out the intention can be a million different things and he structured the day smartly so we have enough time to explore all the possibilities it could be not just arbitrarily but I mean sometimes sometimes you after rebel against him and then just do it the way you want to do it just to shock you self and shock the system and then maybe come up with something better but you know it's like over her whole run of a rehearsal truncated into a day which is I think rare with someone like Noah and you're also rehearsing if you can as much as you can before you start just being prepared to give yourself time to explore all the options when you don't do that with like a soderbergh then I tend to have regret of like you can't help but go home and imagine I had all these ideas that now but again maybe those were bad ideas I don't know anything tribute is a sham uh when we come back more with actor Adam driver including how he's bringing the arts to the military.

"Junior for protection, their drug addictions. Prevent them from respecting junior's orders to stop a note on junior. Course that's dommage as a who's a great singer owns a restaurant, by the way in New York City as well playing junior care to is one of my favorites. So funny. And so smart episode three is denial anger acceptance the sopranos hiring the buco cater to a dinner party. Tony's daughter meadow. Play Jamie Lynn Sigler asking Christopher and Brendan for speed to help stay awake for SAT preparation. The real sterling I like from this episode those Tony except in the task of securing a divorce for his Siddig Jews. Daughter realizing that acidic Jews in some ways had the same issues that this on American gangster family, do there are certain code adhering to. And by the way, speaking of goodfellas, who's the guy playing the main Hasidic Jew. Let's right. Moris wigs. Never come off on the great characters goodfellas, by the way, junior, also unleashes, retribution upon Christopher and Brendan for their truck hijackers. You can already see the elements of the families shruggled, and that power struggle between Tony and his uncle junior, who is a guy who is not to mess with not trifled with those the first few episode of the sopranos. We'll talk more but episode by episode a deep dive in there. But like I said, twelve year anniversary June tenth two thousand seven wasn't sopranos finale. We can all remember where we were then and lastly, I'd like to close, the requiem here for Entertainment Weekly. It's now going to become a monthly publication. "But Tony prevents this by having the restaurant blown-up, Christopher multi Sante. Tony's nephew murder, the Representative check mob. That was trying to move on the family waste management company, the first episode, you know, it's funny when you go back and watch it now, you think, well, what was I chicken or the egg? What was I the sopranos are analyzed? This does apprentice, come January analyze this was in March from sure they're both production around the same time. One is a really funny comedy. Robert de Niro, and Billy crystal and one is serious drama which has a lot of comedy in it. And that is chased a story, I think he'd be giving the sopranos you talk about the casting and how important Jimmy Gandolfini was to the rule. This was a guy had been a character actor in the past when you watch it now. You see how young he was it wasn't nearly as big in terms of girth still had some hair but was a guy who'd been a bit part in films. True romance and others, but he really just nails the role of Tony soprano and you get that sense of it right away. And it's so important, the scenes with Dr Melfi because this is basic gangster, echoing his inner monologue. And it's many ways we think about classic literature. This is like the Greek core. Chris, this is him, you know, turn to the audit saying Israel thoughts this Iago turning to the audience and saying, okay, here's I'm going to turn a fellow against himself and not only great. But so is Dr Jennifer Melfi, played by Lorraine Bracco, who was really smart when David chasers, trying to casseroles listen. Why would I play the wife? I've already done that. I played Karen hail. Of course, Henry Hill's wife in goodfellas, that me, try something different, and she's got that real sense of not only I think sexiness with the bookish glasses and such. And the way that she can be charming to Tony, but also, she's really smart in this case, he's attracted to her, smartest and her empathy. The fact that she feels for him even though he is such a characterised, so many flaws, and yet he's searching for redemption. So it's interesting that chase did not want to be goodfellas at TV show and yet couldn't help himself certain ways Michael imperial e place. Christopher multi was so good as spider in goodfellas, and Harry plays the hotheaded nephew, Christopher who on foresee has an addiction to drugs, which will sometimes waylay him. Sopranos first episode shows Tony talking with his dream and why ducks are so important. Ducks that come by.

"You're looking at different rules in your just. Gigantic gargantuan film. What is that experience been like, I know it's hard to maybe I sit her ticket in the short form but Star Wars man doesn't get bigger than that. No. I mean, I guess I can. Yeah, that's a hard thing, articulate also. But I will I get try to cherry pick something, I guess the scale is like a biggest thing that I've, you know, used to before then at work on things where like, you know, could you save that cigarette because we're going to need to use it throughout the movie for the next three months, and especially not that people are smoking in Star Wars. But timing had a lot of things that you were disposal to kind of make it easier. But at the same time, because the scale is so big use it just makes the way you work on it. You know that different because there's so much time that turn around there, so long or there's a visual effect thing that you don't know is going on behind you. There's a lot of moving pieces. So it just it was a, a really good experience. To issue outside of your comfort zone in every way and also just being unlike that scale I probably never get that experience again where it's not a CGI billets actually built the village in, you know, if in every way it could it's unique and and has affected on for bacteria where you just but yes, changed the change my life. Yeah. I was gonna say credit to both for always taking chances and to make films that can be massive budge like that. But also make a smart funny. Independent film. Like dead. Don't dive Marie LaTour, Jim Jarmusch, Adam driver, close seventy. Thank you so much to both the time. I really appreciate best of luck with the film. Thank you. All right. So thanks again, to Adam driver and close seventy. So terrific to join us here on the podcast, appreciate their thoughts, not only on the dead, don't die. But also some of their other work, we now say to say what we're doing here at cinema, which is called mount Rushmore, so this could be an actor showcases we done the past Sinophile, you know, the top five films of Tom Hanks etcetera, but we're making it even tougher now by going with the mount Rushmore, he can only pick four so the category this week is Mel Rushmore of sports films. Very difficult category. And of course, I make my living as a sports caster do a baseball show called change on dissolve on also be appearing, MLB network and gel network, etc. Work on the boxing, as well. So as a sports fan, this topic that really is close to my heart. I off the animal mention of the wrestler Darren aaronow Balik look at the lives of fate of wrestlers of the real sense of similar Mickey Rourke and his comeback performance. Absolutely haunted, and never takes a misstep in the lead role, which feel like has a real element of tragedy in terms of his real life as well. Did not win the Oscar sadly lost. Sean, Penn who won for milk. But I thought work and aeronautic you've really made a one two combo as far as the four films to mention I'm gonna go with eight men out John sales's story about innocence loss of my favorite baseball film. It's about the nineteen nineteen black SOX. Lots of actual baseball, the film which is nice because sometimes some of these base movies don't feature a lot of baseball, but sale structures it so he sees the series from game win the game nine in terms of the World Series, a superb young cast, including guys, like Charlie Sheen. John cusak. Plane buck Weaver. I love David stra Theros, Eddie see Coty so morally compromised..

And you know, adamant I had a day with Lena Gomez that was kind of a high point, except for I'm having to pull her hair over and over again. It was kinda tricky. Yeah. Yeah. And Danny Glover. Of course, I missed Iggy pop that was like kind of heartbreaking for me. I would have really liked to have been. I don't want to spoil it for anybody who has obviously going to see the film this weekend. The dead don't Iggy pop plays a critical role. You're right. And speaking of music, actually, you know, Tom waits. Also GI pop just a music is kind of like a character, which often is the case in dramas films. Adam, can you speak to little bit to the music of the film? I'm well I haven't seen it. But I remember Jim talking about there's this and by Sturges Simpson that was going to be played the that stir Joel wrote for the movie that I also kind of reference, you know, there's a lot of these moments that, you know, we pull there's referential things where we're kind of acknowledging that were making a movie which are pretty fun. But also he wanted to be playing the movie and different, you know, if it's in the deli, he wanted to, you know, a kind of like maybe a folk version of it if it's in the alone. Juryman. Breath. You know the. Yeah. Switching genres of how it's played, but kind of peeping throughout the movie, they are releasing it as a CD. And then at the end of those dark, the tonal shift in the movie, and there's all that beautiful like Reever be home. You think actually Jim had written that with producer Carter this war?.

It's really hard not to repeat bags in Germany. But, but, but that that's the I think my answer. Initially it was. You know, just Jim, I would really do anything that he was working on and just happened to be ambi-. So it was an added bonus coli for you. The second time working with Jim dramas course broken flowers, as well with Bill Morrie really funny film, what you like work with a guy like dramas who is, I think, for real movie people like us, we appreciate just how unique his vision is. Yeah. I mean, you know, I think people like Jim have to making movies. And if I can, you know, be there and help add something to them, and you know, have the privilege of working alongside him. And with this break cast, you know, sign me up, we'll do it for two dollars when and where I'm there. Yeah. You guys are playing cops the film hunting these as who are intent to get some coffee. And whatever else they want to get their hands on, and Ronnie, and cliff, of course, the characters played by Bill Murray and by Adam, and then khloe obviously, you're one of the cops. Well, what's it like working with Bill Murray? You know, he's a very thoughtful and very funny and berry prison. That seems very ambiguous, when I'm saying, you're like Bill marries genius. And then you're on that, and then he says, like one word in some certain way, and you're like debt. That's why is like he's just like his talent is, is ever presence and constant and you're just kind of always amazed by who he is. And how genuine he is to who he is. No absolutely artif- about, you know, the, the person that you like. See through interviews or hear about is, there's no, there's no act or stunt going on. That's just what he practices philosophy of life. And. It kind of as you would imagine, it would be. Yeah. I mean listen, both of your talent actors had wonderful careers. And this cast is amazing along with Bill. Of course, you've got the likes of Steve Buscemi, who's really funny that in the bar Danny Glover, you get till the Swinton, of course. Rosie perez. Khloe were you able I know obviously such a wide cast, and maybe it depends on the shooting schedule by Jim. But able to mingle much of the other actors or how it was the shooting schedule, like, yeah, there's a couple of days there's a day, I had on set with Carol Kane, we're in the when they're in the police station and I and I knew her from trees lounge..

"Haters remarkable show. Though berry. It's tough to imagine the second season even better than the first season. But that's exactly what hater and his collaborators pull off. In case you're new to it. It's about a hitman who wants to be an actor. It's easily binge -able. You can find it on HBO the first season was very funny in the it skewered showbiz satire. And both hater and Henry Winkler won Emmys. I ever Winkler one and he's hysterical. And the show playing the acting teacher. He says he's drawing on acting teachers he's had in the past in terms of playing the role, so well the second season Winkler's and featured as much, though the historian is about trying to reconnect with his son. Also noteworthy, Sarah Goldberg. She plays the love interest, and she's got a monologue in one episode goes at least two minutes, there's no cuts whatsoever. It's absolutely brilliant. That's alone. I would think gets an EMMY nomination the way she delivers it. She's telling berry, how happy she is that he can get this big role of the same time. She's upset, she's insecure. She's frustrated. It's a real beauty. But what speaking of beauty the episode early to speak about is episode five. It's called Ronnie lily, and it's about a hit gone. It's unlike anything I've ever seen a television before. And really the theme of berries about spreading death and destruction without moral consequences. And this episode, I thought was so realistic. It what he was going for, in terms of hater and company, the fights at the beginning. I ends up ending about ten minutes into a thirty five minute episode, but it's so lifelike. There's no cuts at all. It feels vicious in real, and eventually the way that haters character, emerges, victorious, he breaks, Ronnie, who is a martial arts champion, he breaks, his windpipe. I mean it's just it's incredible fighting you gotta see that, and that, that he thinks he's out of the woods, then this feral beach. Todd lily shows up his daughter, and now that it's really surreal, and you're really not sure what you're watching. But the bottom line is the show is darkly funny in the character berry cannot escape his past, especially a penalized by Ron Fuchs, the wonderful character actor, Stephen root, who is so conniving and so manipulative, it's a show, but anti heroes and even though I think it has gravitas. And in surprising ways because. You wouldn't expect hater who's a comedic. Actor Bill, the show that dramatic range it is, as I mentioned, bleakly funny, and that episode particular episode five Ronnie lily is an absolute must watch. So checkout berry season two also of note deadwood on HBO the longest hiatus in TV history thirteen years since the third season ended. And now it's back as a one hour, fifty minute movie in my opinion. It was one HBO's best shows and the movie is a standalone film picks up right where it left off, which I think was smart, rather than having to explain to viewers unaware of the show, who each character is they're doing the show for diehards. They're doing the show for deadwood fans like myself, who wished that there'd been more of the show, and now we get a sense of closure. Others, nothing better than Ian McShane the British actor so good in sexy beast. He's the murderous and charismatic Al swear engine who is a saloon keeper, you got the prostitute Trixie Gerald mcrainey as the villain and Timothy all offense has a conflicted sheriff, but aside from Shane, the real reason to watch deadwood is creator and writer David milch. Writes with such gutter poetry. There's a real musicale to his dialogue it strewn with profanity, not like my favorite writer. David, ma'am, it's a joy to listen to in the wild wild west and by the end of dead wood,.

One of my first memories of going to see a movie in theater was seeing time bandits which kind of blew my brain out the backs of my head, and and then ever since then so many of his works have meant a lot to me. Whether it's the Fisher king. Baron munchausen? Twelve monkeys so many influential pieces of work, and Brazil, my God, Brazil, and this one the man who killed on Quixote is fascinating project for number of reasons. First of all, it should be said that the finished product is a quality piece of work. I know Terry's had his ups and downs in recent years, some of his films may be haven't been to everybody's liking. I think man who killed Don Quixote, one of his better ones in recent years, this one, of course, stars Adam driver, and Jonathan Pryce, and it is going to begin kind of had unusual release strategy and have a one night only fathom event thing on April tenth, but thankfully, on Friday, April eighteenth, it's going to be out in a bunch of markets around the country, and it's also going to be available on VOD. So you'll have ample opportunity to check out the man who killed on Hyo Tei, and that and for those that followed Terry gilliam's career, you know, how how exciting that is. Because this film just didn't want to be made. Was it had so many false starts every kind of calamity hit this film. Over decades. This has been decades in the making of there's a great documentary actually about the ill-fated of making of an earlier incarnation of this around two thousand called lost lamonica. That's the doctor. You can watch it online and it spree. I recommend that you check it out Walson Mancha chronicles film that was was the star, Johnny Depp. And a actor by the name, Sean Rochefort who is sadly is in the year since passed away. In fact, two different actors were supposed to play Don Quixote passed away in the last couple of decades since this film was in the in the brain of Terry. But it finally finally happened. After a lot of false starts, Terry. Got it across the finish line. And and major props doom for accomplishing that he he. He is such a delight to talk to the sky doesn't give a crap he will say whatever's on his mind about the current state of filmmaking and superhero movies. I will say expected him to sh- crap going to shit just set. It doesn't really matter that the shit on every superhero movie known demand because he has before he actually named checked a recent one that he really dug and it kind of shocked me, so stay tuned for that. But a lot of great stories from Terry in this casting what if of his past work his rotation with making a watchman movie, which I always wonder what that would have been like, oh my God, Terry Gilliam watchmen movie. Could you imagine all the way up to the production and completion of the man who killed on Quixote? So this is a conversation. I was very excited to have. And I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did elsewhere in the Josh Horowitz universe. What else to say?.

"You know? Some people. Everybody's different in this particular movie did you because working with sample takes had to go. And was there any rehearsal time? I love the leaks and what happens in rehearsal time for you. We watched movies. Moi specific to what we're doing a memo would doing. Inside man, we watched dog the afternoon like three or four times and in this movie. We did not watch Burke, but nation. Or gone with the wind. But again is you want to every rehearsal doesn't mean exactly to be going over the lines? Was very crucial two weeks hersal for Adam driver, and John David. You know to get the vibe because if they don't we don't get it there. Two weeks hostile is not going to be on the screen. And so it's not necessarily going to lines. Just hanging out. Talking. So you feel each other's energy? Because that's that's what films recording the energy that that the act is giving you. So again, it comes down to preparation you. Gotta you gotta do to work before we start that first day of principal, photography smoking. Thank you phone. So when do you know, you have it? I think it's more that question of why I what I don't have. You know what I'm not exploring? And that's. What happens with that? He's. Is about a you feel you have it. But then I. I just want to make sure that I'm not. I'm not missing something. There's something that I should explore. And sometimes what happens is a couple of times that you try to explore things you realize now..

"Finally for Apple's TV service. Yeah. Do we know like whether or not this is going to be? I mean, we don't know anything about the rating. Right. But just like it just because of the people involved. It sounds like it's going to be more of a sort of an adult kind of thing is that right that we're just we're just sort of like making that leap. Yeah. I just based on the people involved because. All as yeah. Definitely a little bit. More of an adult director. I mean, she's made some some really great stuff. And then some stuff that I've found like almost unwatchable at the same time. So I I'm very mixed on her as a director but Bill Murray and Rashida Jones, that's an exciting pairing. They worked together in a very Murray Christmas which came out in twenty fifteen because remember that place. Yeah. Yeah. So yes, seeing those guys worked together, and and or those actors together, I think there's definitely some promise there again, I'm still like very curious to see how apple ends up. You know, releasing all of this stuff? They've talked a little bit about how some of the stuff's going to be available on apple devices. Like, you know, are we going to be seeing miss in movie theaters? What's the approach going to be are they going to be, you know, maybe just releasing it straight to itunes and having people pay for it. What do you think their strategy is like, Peter, I don't I don't know what their strategy is. I don't know what they're doing. They should have bought Netflix when they could have afforded it. I. I will say this. I loved the loved loved Sofia Coppola 's first couple films like virgin suicides. I, you know, I still watch Lawson. Translation was my favorite of that year. I love Bill Murray. I'll watch him in anything. Like, I feel like he elevates makes any even if he's not even if the movie's not good he elevates like he's worth seeing it. He makes the movie worth seeing. And I'm curious about this film. I'm curious what apple is doing. But you know, till we know more it's hard to speculate on this one. So we should probably move on. We got so much to cover here. And I know there's been some discussion online of how long the spike gastro run. So we're we're going to try to keep it short. But I do want to talk about the Star Wars news because Adam driver recently gave an interview where he basically said the he no he was told where Star Wars Episode nine would end up before even be. Beginning filming on Star Wars, the force awakens than what do we know? Yes. So in an interview with deadline. Adam driver said with girls HBO show that he was on. There wasn't really an end in sight. So it was fun to develop as as I went into think about where it was all going with Star Wars. I had one piece of information of where it was all going, and that's where it has been in my head for a long time and things were building towards that. So that set off like a ton of alarm bells for us. Like, wait. What the hell is going on here? He knows what's happening because you know, we've we've talked to Ryan Johnson a lot the writer director of Star Wars the last Jedi about how he was essentially given a Blake's a blank slate when he came into that sequel and Jj Abrams may have had some ideas, but he didn't dictate them too. So it to Ron Johnson. So it seemed like he sort of had the freedom to work on that movie. However, he saw fit, but now that Jj Abrams is back in the driver's seat for the upcoming Star Wars Episode nine it seems like he's probably going to want to incorporate any of those early ideas..

"And I know that sounds dramatic. But the truth is you have to just if you can get yourself checked out every now, and again, you know, it's something that is so basic, and so we should all have access to healthcare. But if you can get your annual physical, you never know what you're gonna find definitely unlike I think Katherine you're really good at like when something feels like it's not, right. You got it. The fuck checked out which I'm really glad that you do. 'cause I'm always I've never quote unquote over say, you know, we've we've talked about this. We know that your we know that you're basically clairvoyant I kind of. Yeah. And I think that Leo. Yeah. It it's. Tough. I mean when when things happen. It's like, maybe if I just don't get checked out it won't be real. But. Gotta check out if you can please. Yes. So that's that's that shall we get to our Email. My goodness. Let's do it. Like, I'm rushing through the episode. You have a hard out soon. I don't want to hurt up. But we have time I feel like we have time. Did you want to add anything just drinking some water? And there is. Okay. So this person needs a name I've been watching a lot of movies because it's words season. Right. Yes. Yes. So right now, it's just movies. I'm watching something of a name from a movie, I saw I always forget, names and movies. That's my thing. What have you watched recently, Google something? Oh, black klansman, which was amazing. Adam driver, isn't it? Just call this person drive. That is amazing. Also, I'm looking at the DVD right now. So speaking of driver, Adam driver for drivers like dope names. Yes. Really good. One of my former co workers at BuzzFeed his name is Sylvia. Abell tweeted, I think this might have been like when the Golden Globes were happening. She tweeted, Adam driver is my most confusing crush, and that is like probably the best tweets the deputy Reeves one though, what's that one? Was that the Kano Reeves one that you sent me we're Adam driver looks like that's the tweet of the decade that is a main room. Was that tweet was Adam driver looks. I think it's sorry. Adam driver, looks like what if draw Anna Reeves from memory was that it that? Yeah. I think that was trying to draw from memory. I I wanna give that person credit at some point. You have that I do too. I'll try to find it. Okay. I will read this Email while you try to find that. Okay. Yes. You already read emails Adam driver to read it. Oh, it's so it's a ritually like a Reddit thread or maybe. Well, I don't know if Twitter if the person who tweet that. From read it or the red or slow from Twitter. The point is a great sweet. And maybe I'll try to find out who set it. Yes. Catherine factor Email from driver. Okay. Any content notes. No. We're good. Yeah. I don't think. So. Right. You want me to read this please do. Okay. There's some stuff in the beginning. That's very sweet that we're not gonna read because we get. Oh, shucks. You know? So we get we got all we utilize can let me blush it interferes with recording levels because our mics pickup our blushing. So this is from driver driver says I've been contemplating this for a while trying to think of how to word things and such also thought this was going to fizzle out. But apparently, it isn't my brother started dating this girl. She's his first girlfriend and ex girlfriend and girlfriend again and ex. And now they're quote, unquote, just friends according to him, and they're dating again, according to her guess their communication skills needs some work. But that's not my issue. So this girl dates them for a week dumps him because she isn't quote, unquote, over her ex dates his friend dumps his friend comes crying back to my brother. They get back together. And then a week later. She dumps him again saying, quote, she isn't ready for a relationship, unquote. This is all while she's telling her family her whole life story half of which seems very fabric. And some details seem to always change. So before he even started dating her. We told him to watch himself and tread carefully. And not rush things. Needless to say, he rush things every time..

"Ins character and some of those other members of the unsolvable inking a screaming how they're able to take that heavy dialogue and make it flow and make it seem as naturals it can be i think there's an element of that with jamie and with driver's performance here as well because he's someone who could just look on the page as someone you could easily dismissed or see as someone who has a certain smugness and that comes through a little bit but he's also just so comfortable in his own skin and i think that more than anything is what comes through with that character and those lines that are quite funny from the script on the page in anybody else's hands or mouth i suppose they might have come off as a little bit absurd or unnatural they come off his natural because of adam driver people don't dropping as much as i do keeping z are he's a mess in our leader or say that would love to hear from avocado an arm notes are by any design containing dyslexic candidate sometimes we can do little fruits yeah it's in a i keep wanting to say back revived at that the greek disaster the allman tasty picks and fruits from it oh look it up now let's do easy as ceremony no no this is not know what it is i feel like i'm still trying to wrap my mind around adam driver as a performer honestly because i've had instances where i feel like whatever it is he's doing which i can't quite identified doesn't quite work and while we're young was a case you like an patterson but then he does patterson wretches masterful in so i think it's at this point it's me just tried to acclimate myself to adam driver if you're giving margo a chance fell i'll give what's his name amen while now amy you will never give that movie another chance adam driver eddin said the movie.
