"It was in the hammerstein ballroom. And why does honour. Yeah yeah for ring of honor and why this one was so special is we had just been there for a few years at this point maybe two years and we weren't really established yet like people respected us but we weren't over by any means And we were in a thing called a hybrid fighting rules match which is like this m may influenced match that the new york fans were just not ready to like. They did not want to like. They were being patient with us Because they did respect us but again we weren't over by any means and they were not into this thing sitting on their hands. Kind of sarcastically. Yelling zone i pay per view kyle destroyed and kyle accidentally punches me in the lip where i could have completely separated my lip where you could see through to my tooth so much blood everywhere And then the crowd started standing up. Oh and looking at it and then there was a point where we ended up changing the whole finishing sequence of the match to more like a accentuate. The blood changes on the fly. Yeah yeah and and and there was a point where you know i think kyle it hit me with something. And he was walking over to me and i sat up and i screened And blood squirted from my mouth under his chest. Oh and kyle's look at all shock and the crowd was just so into it and that that match change my career within ring of honor because at that point they finally accept. I before i was just the pretty boy who was you know a little bit athletic and that was that but when that happened i had like an edge to me and again it changed my entire career. And kyle's too. So i i think that one is my favorite. Because they didn't want to like it. I love the idea that they were like whatever and then the last eight minutes of that match. They were all man. This is the best match on the show. So that's great too because you had to adapt to what happened right which is wrestling's all about and that's kind of what we're talking about like you don't have to worry about what we call this whole match and here's what the producer told the camera and like fuck all that blood involved. Let's change the match completely and get this thing over. And i can see that being like why you really appreciate that. Yeah and again. You know being so close with kyle and sharing that together so cool and really. Because i hadn't been wrestling. I'd been wrestling. Maybe four or five years at that point so it is scary at that point to be able to go okay. We have to adapt to allow to do this right. But the cool thing was is because i was bleeding so much. I almost had that. No i don't care we're changing. It was like that we're going to make it happen no matter what because i was in such a different state from from all the blood but yeah that one will always be really special to me. Well when the elite turns on you. Which i'm sure they will at some point. Those rat bastards. You never know there may be a a reunion at some point. Be good to have some of those guys come over here to and began. It'd be great to have them here but but make an even bigger elite. What's great to have you here to mad -gratulations and i'm excited to see what what you do here awa. It's been awesome so far. Thanks chris i'm stoked to be here too. I appreciate it just getting started with rich. Eisen season two. Nfl centric with origin. Stories or michael's joe buck and erin andrews. Why did you leave. espn like. I had done everything that i was going to be allowed to do there. I want us to really be part of the nfl. This sounds so bratty done brie or four championship games. I just knew. I was going to have a shot at the. Nfl is be at fox. Gone pretty well just getting started with rich eisen. Listen wherever you get your podcasts..

"I'm not sure. If i have the money right now and he goes. Oh no it's payments like you don't have to pay it all upfront. So yeah and he did the next week. I started draining. So i would go. You know go to class for high school and then drive to philadelphia and our forty five two hours train. Get the snot out of me and then drive back into it all over again but i i loved it. I loved it so when was your first kind of break into the scene. Then yeah i'd say the biggest thing and at the time. Cw was a more known independent. So that really helped but funny enough. The first time. I had a match that got any sort of buzz. Where i started getting bookings was the day that i met and wrestled kyle o'reilly for the first time so we were on a drag usa. Show the pre show forgave polski and we had six minutes and it was just go out and have this matches in the cw arena and it was one of those were the fans. Were really into it. I match i had were the fans. Were super into auto excited. Yeah that was. That was my first real break. Where then you know. I started doing pre show matches for for ring honor and stuff which i don't i don't know if i've told this story i actually did. Pre show matches for ring of honor for like a year. And a half. And i would go on televised. Yeah and i would go and do the match. Get to the back. And adam pearce was there and carry silken and They would say yeah. Great job keep it up and it happened for a year and a half. I'm like i need to try something. So i sent adam pearce promo and he said hey We want you. We want to book you for before the show but we wanted to cut a promo and said so. Then i went out and cut a promo in jim. Cornet was there and Jim cornet really liked it and that ended up getting me a contract and ring of honor so it wasn't even a match. It was extra talking before right right. Did you get the name adam cole. So i was going to be named cole by my parents up until like two days before then they decided to change it to austin so i thought that was kind of a cool backstory and the only reason i picked atom instead of austin was there. So many austin's steve austin idol. So it's like. I got to pick a different daimyo different dame so yeah that was. It's funny when you first came over. life is great bryan. Came over and adam cole. And she's like your mom doesn't really know what she does. Wrestling doesn't watch the announcer guy. I'm like no. That's michael kors so as we start to wind down. What were some of the big differences that you noticed in awa when you first came into the locker room and i started visiting and even now that you're here as a full time performer. So aside from again because it was the same thing everyone gets along all that stuff. The biggest thing by far is the freedom and What i mean by that because again even annexed towards the end with promos and stuff they would never write me a promo. But i had bullet points that they really wanted me to hit here. It's just like with promo wise or or anything. It feels like there is a lot of potential kind of say what you want to stay in your bromo and wrestle how you want to wrestle in your match i mean. Of course we want to fit the story and things like that. It's not like you can go rogue or anything right but a hun- of freedom and a ton of options to kind of deliver what she wanted to deliver and think that's so cool because it does force you to try different things and learn different things so that that to me was was the biggest thing is the amount of freedom you have both on the microphone and in the ring. What were your conversations with. Tony like when you started deciding to come here. Yeah yeah so. There were great. I had met tony a couple times previously at at the new year's eve party or just said hello and things like that but you know getting the chance to actually talk wrestling with him was was really really cool. When we spoke we spoke for four hours on the phone. And just about everything about you know older matches and the excitement about coming here and everything so and again. This is only a couple of days before the pay per view so it. It happened all super last minute but again. I've said this before about him in his love and passion for pro wrestling is so contagious. I already love it so much. But hearing how excited he gets his. So so cool. You can tell In every sense of the word his heart and soul is completely in this thing. So it's cool. He's a great guy. So you you decide to come here only days before the pay per view days before how days before yeah to the wire yeah. It was cloaked because my contract had just expired very recently it was like god like a week and a half. Maybe before i think so it was. It was very very quick. So i couldn't talk to tony until then. Yeah no tampering exactly. Yeah so that's why. The decision happened so last minute because contract ended in the baby was right after right right exactly so by. Couldn't have a discussion if i wanted to. So to have that discussion with him and then make the decision and just think that a few days later whatever it would be all out was pretty cool. It all happened so fast so so fast. How did you break it to. Wbz that you weren't coming back and who did you tell like. Yeah so. I told i told hunter an sean And both of them could not have been more supportive like it was awesome Especially i had a really really long conversation with with sean. And and of course. He wishes that there could be a world where me and him could still see each other a lot and talk and and work together and stuff but he he wants me to be as happy as possible be accessible as possible and he could tell how excited i was to come here and i had his support one hundred percent and then hunter again co could not have been a cooler more understanding appreciative of the four years that we've we've worked together so i i'm lucky. The relationship i formed with those guys hundred. I mean obviously probably rhetorical question. But was he pushing to get you into the main roster. I believe so. Yeah we never really had a discussion of if he was saying. You know doing everything in my power to get you to to raw and smackdown supportive of me and a lot of ways protective of me like he..

"You're right so important to get the most out of the stuff that you're doing. Did you have a lot of interactions with regal. See more of just the on camera performer. At this point i did. I did i. I had a lot of actually regal was one of the guys who was involved in getting me hired yet. Because i know he was he kind of sculpture. Or how did he do that. Yeah so he was at pwg. Has this really big tournament. Every year called the battle of los angeles right and and he was there and he had talked to me quite a bit after the match talking about an x t and the plans and stuff like that and just to keep an eye out and make sure my phone is on me and email and stuff paper so clearly he definitely must have gone back and suggested one hundred store somebody. Hey we should hire this guy and yeah. He was there all the time. We used to talk quite a bit whether it be just catching up about life or whatever but yeah he's always been he's always been incredible to me some of your classic matches in annex t who were some of your favorite opponents to work with. Yeah so johnny. Gargano is up there. We had a trilogy of matches that that a lot of people still look at is like the the series of the greatest annex d matches of all time is really cool and the coolest thing about that is we. Were kind of in a tough spot too. Because johnny was in the middle of this really epoch feud in annex t with tomorrow champa and they were supposed to have their final blow off at this wrestlemainia weekend takeover and to moscow needed neck surgery. So they're scrambling for a replacement and i hadn't even challenge for the title at that point and they go. Oh let's do adam cole and gargano. We have three weeks to build this thing. Yeah so. I'm like oh great i have to replace the the blow off of the best viewed the in nfc history but but fortunately the fans were great and then we did two more matches after that so he is. He is so so talented. So good guy. I've known for a long time. He's kind of in the same position that you're in now now where he just has been there for so long right. Will he ever get the chance to go up to the main roster. Yeah especially now with the new two point. Oh and exte- where does that leave tomasz. Oh and gargano in those guys. And kyle sure and that's the thing too is i hope no matter what happens because now i know that to was the next champion which is great but i do i do hope and i'm assuming this is the route go is. I do think those guys are going to be fine because they are such cornerstones of the brand and on top of that if they really do want to help these new young talented guys the you need guys like tomorrow and gargano and o'reilly to to be there so but yeah yeah. Fortunately like i said annexed does have guys like to moscow. Johnny and kyle to be able to teach the young generation which is vital vital so you re baker lived together and had been working for competing companies up until now stuck with that was like the first two quick..

"Your Wargames match just to try and get some ideas of a modern day version. You can watch the ones from the eighties which is one mindset. Then i what's your guises version. Great job great match. Was it cool for you guys to be involved that kind of tell us a little bit about the whole bringing back war games for an extended because they originally just know little little tidbit hell and a non starting to house elimination chamber was originally going to be war games. But vincent wanna to do war games because he said it was to w w So then we created our own hunter always wanted to do the war games and then he brings it to annex t in there go kind. Tell us how that all came about. And so that was so awesome. Because i actually just arrived in annex t so my first appearance there was at a takeover next takeover was the first lau so is thrown right into the fire there but man i was so pumped again. I was such a fan of those matches in watching those matches and thinking about you know the way we exactly what you said how to modernize it in. Some ways was really interesting. And i liked that so far in annex t i've been the era has been an every single wargames match so it's been it's been cool and challenging to make it a little bit different but there is this. I don't know and i felt this way every single time. Where like right before the match starts the sirens go off and the cages lowering and getting set up and just the buzz in the arena was always a little bit different. They were like oh. We're going to see some violence. I am terrified of heights. So the fact that i've somehow ended up getting thrown off top every single. There's a little disheartening. You guys just had one recently over the last year or so. I did not off the top of that zone. Was there was a finnish that you took off something that i saw through a table with a thing or it was crazy. That was the one two years ago. I think the one you're thinking of is to moscow champa had given me an air raid crashed the one off the top and funny enough less than twenty four hours later. I wrestled pete done at survivor series for the title. So that was crazy week crazy. I had done rawls and smackdown that week. It was awesome but yet real quick about the heights thing. So i i always made myself climb up to the top of it before the show and chris everyone would laugh makes i physically would shake my legs check but then when you're out there and you're doing it then i was fine and it was okay. I got to go for it. You just gotta go for it. Just got volve was was hunter in those vastly. You mentioned the producers who were the producers that annex t yet so so shawn michaels worked with me. A ton from star. Sean came in a couple of years. After you've been there right or was he there the whole time he was actually there. The whole trach. I think he had actually just come in. Maybe the year prior. Before i got there so he's always been hands on with with helping me or just listening. John's really really great about kind of letting you come up with what you want to come up with and you know as you run it by him. He'll randomly just throw in this little thing. It's like brilliant and you're like oh my god that's so much better. So he's he does yup. Yup hunter was great as well As far as you know wanting certain ideas or approaches to things but producer. Wise is mostly sean. Or terry taylor Was there a lot and matt bloom as well. But i i've gotten to work with you. Know steve carino scotty haughty norman. You know those guys. The guys that are at the the performance of helping as well. Let's talk a more sean. And he seems. I can see that he would take like you. Guys physically look very similar. Obviously he knows kind of coming to the business as a smaller guy quote unquote so tell me some of the advice that he gave you how he helped you out well again and i won't because i know i've i've beaten to death at this point but like one of the highlights. Maybe the highlight of the four years. I was there was building a relationship with him. Like we still talk to this day. He is just he's been so giving and incredibly insightful on so many different things. But i'd say the biggest one that he taught me was cadence and like learning how to ride the audience and get them to peak at a certain time and then when to settle down when to speed up when to slow down it was all stuff. 'cause on the independence and stuff. We had a formula of what we would do. And if it was a double down the crowd was up or they weren't we would lay. There was supposed to be the double down. But sean was so good at teaching me how to listen to the audience and wanna go fast and when you go to go slow to create the most roller coaster ride possible. New something. I didn't even think of and i've been wrestling for ten years at that point so it sounds like a small thing. I know that you're very aware of how important that is but he. He really really helped me understand. It was funny. Because i learned that especially talking about a double down. Yeah from him we we we even were working somehow shows. I think it was like in chile or something like that and he said you know you go into fast on on the on the false finishes you gotta sell a little bit longer. Don't move until i tell you and this is like nineteen years infamy or something like eighteen years in okay and we did something and there was a double down i. Eight counts on the double down. You hate it. Because i feel that people are just paying attention to counting rather than building and i just remember. Just he's don't move. Until i tell you and the crowd came up and then they went down and then they came up and then they went down and then they came super opposite. Okay start moving and as a just waiting and doing nothing was really something. I'd never really thought about because to me. It false finishes you gotta hit and bump it go and move and move and move but you also have to give everybody a time to digest it and the more time you can do that. The better of the reaction is and a lot of people to this day in our company. Never do that right. And it's it's a real loss. Start because you're afraid of like what if the crowd isn't come back. Well the the the secret special advice as they always come back if you do it right. So that's a sean thing. That i always remember him talking about you. Know he's so right about that. I never thought about it either. It's so true. Yeah because i. I can't tell you. How many scenarios. I've been on takeover events with him there when he had talked about again laying out for a certain amount of time and again same thing it would be like a oh that was cool and they would share and then they come down and it was like they registered what they just saw registered. That were thirty minutes in and like you said they build you know even more and more and more so it is..

"Hey we're gonna put you kylo riley and bobby fish together as a group and i called kyle. I'm like can you believe this. It's just constantly together. Hate like which i was stoked about so me kyle and bobby all debuted the same night. And then i'd say about five months six months later. We added roger strong to the group and We all talked to and we're like of anybody to join the group with us. He is the perfect fit. And i really felt like that's when the undisputed erica came into. Its own when it was all four of us and it was so easy because we all for our are still really close friends. Like i talked to those guys every single day. So i i think that translated on television because you could tell we were having fun and enjoying working together but i had the time of my life with those guys just again unbelievable talents even better friends. It was a blast. It was really cool. There's nothing better than working with your friends. Did you ever turn on each other and work against each other as well. Yeah yeah so the tail. End of miami t. run. I turned on on kylo riley and roderick strong bobby fisher was injured at the time but yeah actually. My final feud and my final amount of matches in annex t were with kylo riley so it was very poetic was like the perfect way to end my run their bobby fischer is one of my favorite names. Ever rights and love the fact. His last name is fish. I think i met him in tokyo at a hotel when we were with. Wb and i had like do you have the best name every or talk about the nfc wargames because actually watched your match before the inner circle blood and guts a few months ago against the pinnacle inner circle. But before we get into that. I'll tell you what. I did after blood and guts and after wednesday's dynamite arthur ashe's stadium. I dp yoga between all the killer awa matches and fuzzy being back in the road dp and dp wire or keeping me loose limber and ready to go both in the ring and on stage and how i'm doing both the top of my game now and i'm feeling great afterwards because of dd py and it can do the same thing for you. "Is jericho and for being the breakfast of beyond. Let's talk about your journey so obviously huge the history and that i wanna discuss as well but you came here. I know that they obviously wanted to keep you. And you had kind of some mixed feelings about leaving all these sort of things. What kind of started your mindset. Even thinking that maybe i should give awa try and then what finally made you come here. Yeah yeah so. Naturally i've always been curious or excited at the idea of working for a e w right between the roster. The fans really are. I don't mean to sound cliche but the fans are the best fans in the world. Just when when you watch the shows you can tell too. So i think about all these different cool matches. I could have how much i get along with everybody so it was always interested there but then when it came time to make the decision which again kind of fell into my lap. I was expecting to have this conversation in december but all of a sudden. Everyone thought that your contract ended in december including you looting mate. So how did nobody know that. It really ended in june or whatever rights so the and here's the strangest part so you know me and another guy who i won't name just in case but we signed extensions virtually at the same time and his was up in december and so i thought mine was as well but it was a totally different case where it was another contract where it ended earlier like. I don't understand how that works. But i was surprised very surprised unit. Finding that your contract was over in so they talk to me a few days prior to mike contract. Expiring like literally. It was like four days until my deal was up. And they asked me if i'd be interested in signing an extension which to me. It was a no brainer. Because i was in the middle of a feud with kylo riley one of my best friends. So i'm like cool. Yeah at the very least. I'll do this and finish that with him. So yeah just crazy. But as far as actually deciding where i wanted to go. It's kind of a really boring story. But it was it was like one in the morning and brits asleep and i'm laying there in the dark just thinking like pros and cons of wea. W and when i started thinking about going to a w i felt like a nine year old kid like i'd butterflies in my stomach and i was so excited so jazzed up and i'm like i'm thirty. Two this is if this isn't the world or my heart my soul telling me that's what i'm supposed to do. That's what i'm supposed to do. So yeah it was me by myself no music now movie. No nothing in the dark. Everyone's asleep and i was like i have to aid literally followed your gut yak hold. Your heart was. Was it hard to tell because the idea we can talk about this is that they were going to give you. Finally bring you up to the main ross. Is that what they were telling you. Kind of an exceed for four years and never once really gone to the main roster right so now that you're deal is up. Were you saying to them. You gotta bring me up where they going to just do it anyways. Kinda talk about those conversations no so that that was the pitch from the gate where they did have a meeting with with vince. That went really well. It was like a thirty minute combo which was cool that the first time ever had real long conversation with him i. I've only talked to him for. Maybe like two or three minutes prior to that and it was after i got to work the survivor series event. And he wanted to talk to us afterwards. He was really happy with the with the match. So but no real conversation with him before. So that was that was the first time it was It was really cool again. He was he was very complimentary. Very nice but yeah the idea was for me to go to roller smackdown and not stay within the t just because i mean again i had been there for so long and i think they knew as much as i do. Love annex t. I was ready to you. Know if i stayed in w to take that step of going. You've done everything you can do that. Exceed brand fold at that point right exactly so but yeah yeah. That was kind of the gist of the conversation. So it was definitely to to move me up to roller smackdown. Was ernie plans discussed about what you would do on rar smackdown. Yeah so it. It was funny is there was like apparently there were a lot of ideas but they were very vague on on. What exactly they wanted to do. Like I mean there was discussion again. This is interesting too. Because i remember when i first had the conversation they had mentioned something about you. Know maybe we'll do a name change or or Maybe we'll change your look a little bit so that scared me a little bit. Just because i'd spent nearly fourteen years. That you know as adam cole. And then our latest conversation they were definitely more open to me being me and being myself and stuff like that but they they could tell. I was not too thrilled about the ideas. You did you kind of see that as a red flag in a way yes act. I mean like you said we'll change your name and your look and it's like you pretty much know like you said my name value is been made even huge certain degree. And you look the way you look as the star that you are right right right. Did you see this kind of like a warning. Maybe in a way it was definitely something that made me a little bit more timid about maybe pulling the trigger on that one and again you know of course they could not have been nicer but when i think about me and ben my career and what is best for me. The idea of that being an option did scare me a little bit. Where i was like. Okay so you know. What if i do go and then something happens anyway because at that point i can't really say or do anything. So yeah it was. Absolute red flag is the perfect way to put it because another thing that came on the you might have been used as keith lease manager. Something along those lines. Like whenever. I hear those types of things where there's smoke there's fire somebody must be suggesting it well. Let's just put him as a manager and it's like you don't have to say anything but i will. Sometimes they get certain ideas in their head. And it's like you're not seeing the draw this guy you know and you don't have to change a thing except for change the show that he's on and the rest will fall into place right right exactly that. Yeah that's God so many times like you said you don't even necessarily at the change of thing but if you change the atmosphere that they're in the people that they're working with then it then. It feels fresh here for antics champion. Gosh making a big deal right right exactly so yet again. I understand where they're coming from to some extent. But i feel like a big part of what has made me work. Is you know. I'm not six foot three and i'm not you know. Two hundred eighty five pounds. So like the adam cole. Bay bay and the boom and all that stuff is is such a big part of what i do and high connect with the audience aside from the wrestling and the promos and stuff like that so i feel like it would.

I was so excited because again because of my relationship with matt and nick i knew how serious this was going to be i i knew between the roster that started coming out with that big press conference in your there and pock is there and the bucks and kenny. I'm like this is going to be really special and you could feel again the energy in the vibe not just in person on the fans were there but in this day and age with social media it is really important and the social media buzz around eighty w was so strong so so strong and then when the first couple of shows started happening. I'm like this is great. It was like a real true alternative. That was just knocking it out of the park every time so i was actually even before the first few shows i. I was very confident it was going to do well. I don't know if anyone expected it to blow up in the way that it has is just like it's so cool to watch net so-so awesome and now that we're here. I'm excited to see where. Aws even going to be a year from now or two years from now so earl. Talk more about your journey. They w but first. Thanks my favorite breakfast cereal spoon. "Is like the fedex truck or whatever. Yeah and i'm already stressing because we'd actually stuck about this. I like to be on time. Gotta wrestler and you're always on time. Jeez louise so were there at two and then They tell us. It's not on the truck so i'm like okay. Screw we just gotta get to the building and me and britain. Get into our uber and we start driving brit. Thank god. She checks phone and she goes. Oh my god it just arrived so we had the uber stop and she ran in. The best part was fritz at a package. That we've been waiting for that. You guys denied it. So can someone go get it and the lady said you're going to have to wait about three hours until someone can go downstairs and get it. Oh my gosh. And fortunately is a little feisty. She got it done. She got it done but my god. Yeah between that. And then you know. They're different interviews and stuff backstage. It was very very busy but let me just say this. The reason why this new gear was so important you had to have it. Yes because it's you couldn't wear your old gear because it's an exterior related right exactly. Yeah i do think i could have. Maybe gotten away with it but to me that year was synonymous with you know my time there and i and i wanted a new fresh thing. You know how that is. So i would have been really heartbroken if i didn't have my river that but fortunately it worked out well. And that's the thing. I i've always been a big proponent for when you switch from he'll the baby faces vice versa or especially when you switch companies has to be a difference. It can't be the same look or the same vibe because it's not the same it's different absolute was updated. Yeah yeah that's why. I was really adamant about I wore a leather jacket for a very brief time with ring of honor and new japan. And i never wore one. When i was at annex t so i kinda wanted to go back to that look but make it a little bit different. In that way so the jacket. I had was got a barebones basic and this one is a little bit busier with a lot. More stuff on it and so yeah definitely wanted to have a new look for for such big night. So we're talking about coming to aws and you've been here very short time a few weeks. Were you expecting to get this type of reaction from from the fan base itself like when you first appeared in all the buzz. That's been surrounding since you came to. Aws not at all. I mean i did expect some people to be excited because they know about my history with the young bucks and kenny. And i'm still friends with those guys to this. Day was my entire time in annex t and i heard rumblings about people being really excited but but my debut at all out was the my favorite night of my wrestling career just for the reaction like it was so insane so so cool. It's so funny. Need anytime in a situation where i debut. It was the same next where i surprised. Debuted their. I'm like god i hope people care and then with all out. It was that tenfold. Because everyone was expecting brian. So i'm like. Oh i hope they're not like crap out instead. So between that. And then my debut against frankie kazarian just the reactions have been unbelievable. It's like i don't know. I definitely get this this feeling that they're genuinely so happy i'm here and and they can tell i'm really happy i'm here to so it's it's a really cool thing. Yeah you haven't stopped smiling since you have been here. I can help all throat i is. Does it surprise you. How well you fit in here and how much you're enjoying it or did you think it'd be a little bit more of a of a feeling out process or so. I was pretty certain. That was one thing. I was pretty confident with between getting to meet you know everybody here. Before i had been a few times yeah and just again the camaraderie and the vibe here is so positive Tony kahn is just contagious. When it comes to his passionate about wrestling so i had a good feeling that i was gonna fit in well and fortunately i think abso for a reunion like you said like i wasn't familiar with all of the backstory. We you and the bucks. That sort of stuff. Because i think when i first started working with them was japan and twenty eighteen beginning of the being of that time from end of two thousand seventeen. You've already gone to an extent. And i think they're still doing the story where you were a ghost or you're dead. I think they got me to say something about how you kill them. Cole or something along those lines. That was i think something that i totally forgot about. But yeah you're the ghost on bt right right. Yeah they I love matin nick. So much Oh my entire time there every so often whether it be every few months or whatever they constantly would make references to me whether that be through brit or whether that be the ghost thing and that is just because we did. We formed such a good relationship over. I've known those guys now for over ten years so the fact that they decided on their own to kind of keep mike character alive. Pretty cool jealous would happen to them. Bt why are you. Why are you a ghost or why were you a ghost. Yes so this was the beautiful thing about. Again we can creatively tell kind of whatever storage. We want to his goofy as they might be. But i was getting ready to go to an x t had already been kicked out of the bullet club but they needed to find a way to write me off of being the elite. So the idea was that kenya mega was in charge of poisoning. A monster energy drink and my final scene was me laying on the ground with my tongue out. And it said adam cole's character on being the elite dead and then with the you know year i was born in gotcha gotcha so then you were just the ghosted up in tight right so you were you in one of the original lineups of the bullet club. Actually i didn't come in until much later as the ring of honor That's how it started so again. I owe the young bucks A lot for a lot of things they've done for me and my career. One of those things was the bullet club they had gone to geico and said. Hey we think. Adam cole would be a perfect fit especially with bullet club. Usa over and ring of honor. He went for it. So then i had more is on me from new japan at that point getting to work with in logger He really enjoyed the match. Then i got the chance to go over and do some tours so a predominantly. I worked as a book club member within ring of honor. But i still did have the chance. I'd say about eight tours of new japan in bullet club. Did you get the new japan gig because you're in the club usa. Or you're already working in japan. So i had i had done one new japan show prize to and then there was kind of a a long a year period where i didn't go back and then once i did join bullet club then. There were multiple tours. I was going on because of that. So yeah yeah so. You always had that relationship with those guys. And you're an annex t when you first started hearing about the rumors of eighty. W what did you guys think. What was your thoughts of like. Oh sure another guy's gonna try and start a company where you all four..

"Yeah he's dirac obviously is a bigger star in hollywood. He's the biggest star. Probably right now in hollywood but to your point. Yeah he does. Different does different things with iraq. You kind of get the rock in all of his movies. You gotta get serious rock or kind of goofy rock. But it's always kinda the rock. I love the rock movies. So i'm not mad but that's just how it is Batista probably is the guy. I would even say sina before the rock as far as acting though to a throwback and that's roddy roddy piper and that was my choice before i thought batista. I'm telling you this is what came up with this snake. Jack because i was watching they live the great john carpenter they live. We can't david roddy wright. Poverty is absolutely sensational. That movie but then i was like they have a pretty good. I had to make a choice and it was hard. I mean i think for this you gotta give it to batista because piper only had that and then maybe a few small cameo kind of situations. If i'm not mistaken. Let me know if i'm wrong but i think it was really just. They live was his real good. He crushed he was great. I don't know why he didn't do more. I said will say that was the was like a yo this mrs call and man he did this and the air he was in it. Or you gonna. Do you gonna rent a month for movies. Yeah because i could see him in a die. I think there's i think there's a bygone era having those big guys. You know what i mean. But i also feel there is a place for them but the reason why i like adam cole is because he. He's not the biggest guy but he's larger than life when he comes in the ring. And i really like what he does. I like his move said like i like how he talks on the microphone. I think there's lot more to him than just talking on the microphone. I like that. He's in a different coverage zone with friends that he knows trust and like. I said i just thought it was overall good match. Talk to me about kobe bays debut at awa first match. Yes so the thing about the size. Like it's company has taken care of me taking care of my family But they are in his opinion being a little too protective of him. Which kind of scares me. Because i've never known. Vincent kennedy mcmahon to be protective of any goddamn thing. It had such big. I'm going through a midlife crisis where i got people vibes. I loved it. 'cause he was like when you get married and have kids which i've been blessed to have shit gets real boring and i need something chaotic. That's what this is for. And i'm like who body swapped punk and daniel bryan. No they body swapped punk from two thousand and eleven and daniel bryan from two thousand four g. g. m. daniel bryan. Yeah that's who they. Sweet beets sweet beets and summer of punk and they they swap them. So i'm really looking forward. I am a little bit sad that the lebel lock is his thing. I was really looking for him to try to sink in cattle mutilation. Yeah i was the same way because so you know how you were joking about whenever Kenny won the title of flood of no blake. Will you will hear his screams of orgasm. Mutilation gets put on looking guy. That's what my hope that he's saving it. This is the other thing. "He can do whatever the fuck he wants. But i'm like good something that doesn't quite ring true for me when it comes to cody. I think he's a fine wrestler. Not you know he he. He's no. He's not the reincarnation of no karl gotch it's fine. He's a fine wrestler. I know people are in love with this promos i think. Sometimes he loses his way for every excellent promo that he cuts. He's got a couple of like. Oh boy okay. You could wrap this up. Now i'm not. A cody. Rhodes apologised like a lot of people not a lot of people but like some people are bought telia one thing despite how much of an eagle you might think the guy might have despite how how much of a self promoter you and listen you know what having any go and pro wrestling being a self promoted progressing. Those aren't the that's par for the course. That shit just happens no matter what you think about what i think about cody. There is one thing that you can't take away from him. And that is the fact that he puts people over in his company. He has put people over. And i am completely befuddled that anyone can look at what happened last night and say cody made this about himself that you're just exposing yourself as one of two things. Either you don't watch a w dynamite and then you see the reactions on twitter and then you like a kennedy real or you just completely utterly and blindly. disliked cody. Rhodes it's either orf but you're exposed either way. I don't think there is any any way you can look at what happened last night. And not say alastair black wins on all fronts last night because not only did he destroy cody and put him in a position. Where cody is like. You know what i think. I think i might have to retire. I don't think i'd got. I don't think i got it anymore. Not only that but molokai black comes back to take the moment away from county. So i'm even to a point where i'm like. You know the people who are like the code is making this about him. Should have been happy. That tommy n. Ranan to take the moment away from code and be like now. I'm not making this about you. It's about me tonight. Because that's ultimately what happened. And i don't understand anyone who sees anything else i don't i have no clue and in it's weird because sometimes they'll be angled happening and i'll get passionate about like fucking gilbert under. I'll understand at the very least. I'll be like well i can i. Can i can empathize. I can understand why they're doing this. I understand why they're doing the goldberg thing because he has a contract it. Yeah all these things. But here i honestly cannot understand. I can't understand how anyone can look at this. And not think that this is a net positive or take the opportunity to shit on cody. Because it was this whole segment was designed. It feels like it was designed for the cody haters. it really was designed for the cody. Haters cody gets trashed in a match. And then he tries to and i'm doing air quotes here tries to make it about himself but then gets trashed again. I have good friends. People that i respect appears on the time line saying saying to me. Well i don't. They should have done this next week. Why the crowd was hot. And it got harder for cody pseudo retirement and then tommy and runs in and makes it all even walk. We've been poisoned. They've poisoned the well for so long. It's like deput's fluoride in our tap water and trace amounts to make us don't be and then be like we can give you too much heat one week. We have to stretch this shit out. We didn't want the crowd to be really hot and then give the impression that our product is super hot. Wouldn't want it's so wild to me. And i swear like people whose opinions i i that i respect people that i like. All about cody. I'm like what are you talking about. And the cody stuff. Like i said. I i'm not. A cody rhodes guy. I'm not. I always thought he was fine. Worker very charismatic. That's okay like he has. He's maximize strengths. And that's all you can do in wrestling really. He has his problems. There's faults but there is one thing one thing that you cannot take away from the guy. I said it before when we started this sad again he puts people over and he has made stars for his company and anyone who will argue that he is the next that he is the new triple agent. They are bad faith actors. They don't watch a w they don't care about cody. They just want to be bad faith actors. They just think that they understand that they look from afar. I try my best to talk about everything that i talk about. Look straight up. it's not even equipped. I try my best. Everything that i talk about on this podcast. I have watched. If i'm talking about if i'm talking about a show from talking about match because i've watched it not gonna pretend i'm not gonna go on twitter and get the cliff notes if i'm not gonna be able to watch them. They're gonna talk about it. Just a simple and i feel that. There's a lot of people who do that. When it comes to cody. They don't like them. They turn off the tv. Or they don't even watch they. Just if you want to be fair absolutely fair. And i find it while. I'm here like defending cody when he doesn't need defending. But if you want to be fair you look back at everything. He's done in this company in his company. No this guy. Sure he's done some self serving things. Oh he broke a thrown. I don't care about that. that's actually. I like that shit. I'm fine with that. Let them more. Please break thrown every three every.

Was you know walking out refusing to do jobs all the time and you know in and out of the out of the company i mean he had very long tenure that company to when it comes to like sort of like the you know an analyzing the way that wrestlers act and an handle themselves. I mean certainly. there's there's something to that in general but Look at vincent track record in terms of like screwing up so many people in so many different ways over the period of time that My my working assumption in all instances just assume that if things are not working in a good well good way that it's more of insulin the talent because you know he is screwed up so many things and he micromanage is everything and I'm i'm reluctant to point the finger at wrestlers when things are not working that well. 'cause isn't a lot of ways of pretty broken environment when you look at the way they treat people point three When it comes to restaurants in general there was a time period where you had to sort of you know. We talked about it in recent weeks. When you know in terms of like the context of of hogan and hall and nash and like a previous generation of wrestlers where there were a lot of sort of stakes in the locker room. That could do a lot of damage in terms of their attitude in the way that they wrote off and other people and the businesses just sort of in a different place these days and i just i think that today's wrestlers even ones who are harder to to deal with The the standard of hard to deal with i think is much much higher than it was an previous generations in terms of like people just being on better behavior across the board. So i don't. I don't really worry about that. Stuff is as much as you sometimes do. Because i just don't i don't think there are a lot of people out there. In the wrestling business. They become particularly successful. That are just like impossible to deal with it. That's not really the way that the businesses gone. It's you know it's it's gravitate towards a bunch of people that just really like professional wrestling and there aren't a lot of personal problems the scenes and you know obviously they're gonna be personality conflicts but It's it's not. it's not a business with a bunch of people looking to rip each other off and scraping. What else to make the most money. So i don't i don't worry as much about like individual people just being so difficult to deal with. Don't want them in their locker room. I don't think there are a lot of people like that and the wrestling this in twenty twenty one i i would still say i would advise tony on anybody but especially braid to just do some due diligence just to be sure. He's not an outlier. I think you're right in general And specifics when it comes to. Vince mcmahon. But you know sometimes people issues and you don't wanna pay big money and bring that in discovered afterwards. Y- i guess it also depends on how much you know how much it go for. 'cause i wouldn't i mean i think he he would just based on the name. He had command pretty solid paycheck. But like i. If i'm looking at i'm not paying more than adam cole. For instance Let alone some of the some of the other people aloha torch faithful. this is kelly wells host. pwg talks.
