"Game now. Did the avalanche need this kind of game for their confidence? Listen, I don't think so, but I don't. I don't like them searching. You know what I mean? Like, you're searching for something to build confidence? Because you're the Stanley Cup defending champions. You've got what? Three, four of the best players in hockey? Put my car in there, put McKinnon in there, put rattan in there. You need games like this to build your comp. Forget that garbage. Just go out there and absolutely dispense justice. I don't think it's the, it's close, but it's not the right word. They don't need a confidence boost. I think this part of the season right now, they're just looking for motivational boosts. They're just looking for games, reasons to be engaged. They see the finish line in sight, but it's still a ways off. You're still looking at about 20 more games. They know they're going to be in the playoffs. They don't care where they're going to be seated. They don't care if they're not going to have home ice advantage. So I think it's just finding these games finding these opponents where you just kind of summon the motivation, or in this case, the motivations given to you in the form of a lousy team coming in on a back to back that just has nothing to give. And you just say, okay, thank you. We'll take these night. But I don't think it's a cough. This team doesn't lack confidence. Okay, so they don't last years. Psychological evaluation of them playing Dallas the other day. And losing 7. I think that to quote the great sandy clough about Chicago, not that one. You can not manufacture desperation. And when you're going through the long grind of a regular season like this, and you go into a place like Dallas, where they are waiting. This is a circle red circle the date in red game for the Dallas stars. These kind of teams, the cup champions are in town, the measuring stick game, all that stuff. They came out with playoff style intensity that this point of the season I was just can't match. Now, meet them again in the playoffs. Now it's a fair fight. So I think that's what I think it's more about motivation than it is confidence. This team, this team doesn't like it. This is the second part of that quote. The second part? Well, here again? No, no, no, the second part of sandy school. About Chicago? No, no. Happy happy children. No, you can't manufacture. Desperation. Yeah. But you can't manage your blood flow. Bow chicka Bow Wow. That's kind of the idea? Yeah, that's kind of your blood flow. Get your blood flowing. A lot of good things happen. Yeah, oh yeah. When you get your blood formed. Let it go, man. Usually it's a win. Tonight we just have. Oh, I'm so happy we're laughing this morning. Next on the morning brew, the nuggets and bulls tonight. They should be the night that Jamal Murray sets the franchise record for most made three pointers. I mean, we try and I mean, what's in the flow of the game, obviously, but yeah, I mean, I was notified. I mean, we're losing, so I didn't. Yeah, I didn't pursue a 100%. Jamal Murray, stat padding. Yes. Shame. Shame. Dude, it's just below. I'll be in sarcastic. It blows me away that a guy Shane has relatively young as Jamal Murray with the injury history where he missed that much time. Is going to be the franchise leader in three point shots made. That's that blows me away. Does it? Yeah. Really? 'cause the three pointer, yeah, it's been around for a long time, but it's never been the central part of NBA teams offenses like it is now. It's on steroids. It's ridiculous. I get the passing records. I gain NFL. Hey, I get that. But still, it just like you would think somebody along the line that you would think it would be a number that you're just not going to surpass quickly. But hey, whatever, good for him. It's awesome. Nobody makes a bunch of them in the nuggets. Take away victory. Nuggets and bulls will talk to your Fox football, play by play partner, who does the bulls games, Adam amine coming up at 8 15. Yeah. Adam gonna join us is gonna be great. Yeah. Next on the morning brew, college basketball tournament time. When the calendar turns to 2022, we'll be right here talking about the NFL playoff picture. Weekday mornings at 6 eastern on ESPN radio. 8 straight for the Chicago Bulls. Safe to say they're back, baby. They've been back. Speaking of back, back to back buzzer beaters for demar Derozan that happened not only in back to back games with back to back years. Good luck ever breaking that record. Not gonna happen unbreakable record. It's been in bed Sarah Spain, Jason Fitz, ESPN radio ESPN app SiriusXM channel 80, we're presented by Progressive Insurance. And it's time for some straight talk, brought to you by straight talk wireless. We're gonna give it to you straight about the bulls who are streaking, baby. Number one in the east and joining us to talk about them Chicago Bulls TV broadcaster also broadcast where you can hear him on Sunday's talking NFL for Fox Sports covering games. It's Adam Amin Adam, thanks for the time. What's up buddy? How's it going? You're feeling good. This is a mood. This is a vibe you know. I can feel it over the phone right now. Listen, for a number of reasons, number one, because when the season started and the bulls were hot, a lot of people were telling me to chill, you know, it's not gonna last. They've played a bunch of bad teams. They just got out to a hot start. Here we are. It's a new year. It's 2022. They've got their longest win streak since 2012. And secondarily, because when we decided to sign deshaun demar Derozan, I was in great player, great person, can't wait, and so many people tried to come on this very show and talk me out of it and tell me it was a bad signing and tell me the bulls weren't gonna be very good. It gave him bad grades. And here we are now, Adam. Tell me what it's been like watching and calling what demar has been doing. And meanwhile, Zach lavine having like 35 points. Meanwhile, wild Mars making those buzzer beaters. It is, so every time we look at championship level teams, I am not saying that's where the bulls are at. I'm just trying if that's the gauge that we use to determine how good a team is, right? If you're good enough to win a championship, that's the gauge that we're using. So what are the elements to that? Are the pieces there? Is the chemistry good? Do you have three levels of scoring ability? You have a defense that can keep you in games when the offense is playing, particularly well, like we saw last night. All of those elements are there. So awesome, right? Now you need stars to elevate that. Zach lavine is an all star. We saw that last year. He continues to play well. Nikola vucevic has a full season under his belt or this whole first full season under his belt. Caruso's playing well boss playing well. And now you have somebody who has had a phenomenal track record for a long period of time and has done a lot of different things. Whatever he's been asked to do by whatever coaching staff, he has been coaching him, whether it's been in Toronto, whether it was Popovich in San Antonio or whether it's now here with Billy Donovan and the bulls, he is performed at an exceptionally high level for a long time, so that's where the confusion lies for people like you for people like me who heard, well, I like the margarita man. I don't know if that's going to work. I don't know if the fit is going to be like, you can debate the value of contracts and discuss that. And those are valid discussions that you can have that about any player in the NBA. So if we're just talking basketball, the fit felt like it should be pretty good, and now you have the elevation of play the chemistry, the combination of these puzzle pieces that just seemingly work together well on a night tonight basis. I'm as surprised as you were that the general consensus seemed to be so low on what this team was capable of doing. Now, I think there are going to be a 51 team. No, I thought 44 wins, 45 wins is a pretty good mark. And they're on pace and pass that right now. So pretty good run that I think they're on right now and it looks to be sustainable. So Adam, you know, I don't want to gloss over the success of Caruso and ball. You just mentioned a couple of guys that, I mean, other teams have given up on essentially a different times. What's Billy Donovan been able to do as a coach to get the most out of so many different guys. I think that's where the NBA needs coaches, right? You need them to manage personnel and you need them to manage ego and you need them to manage expectation. And that's what he's done really, really well. We've talked about this a little bit locally in Chicago now. I'm sure Spain has heard a little bit, but the balance of basketball ego on this team is in really good harmony right now. When we talk about how ego is important to the success of the great athlete, right? You have to have a certain level of ego. And then you can say it up about any industry on the planet. You have to have a certain level of ego that the confidence to be able to do certain things that other people maybe can't do. And to be able to manage that in a way where everybody feels like they're contributing to everybody else's success when there is a certain level of it. That's pretty hard to maintain for a while. The fact that Billy Donovan has gotten that type of buy in from a lot of different players and maybe 50 it's part of the reason that it's worth is because there are some guys that have some chips on their shoulders, Alonzo ball, and Alex Caruso, maybe even demar Derozan has felt that he's talked about that underdog mentality a lot. Maybe that's where the management part of coaching in the NBA comes in. The players are going to win you games. The players are going to win or lose games. They're going to go out there and execute or not execute. They're going to make shots or not make shots. They're going to win and lose you games. But if you can manage these little elements that are really key to the completion of a team, I think that's where Billy Donovan is really, really good. I think his demeanor is kind of composure in moments high and low. I think everybody kind of has fed into that and fed off of that a little bit. Adam amine is with us here on the Goodyear hotline on Spain and Fitz ESPN radio you can hear him nightly calling bulls games alongside Stacy king. You can also hear him talking covering, I guess. Seahawks cardinals this weekend on Fox Sports. So, you know, I'm curious when the season started. We'd spent a lot of time talking about how they defined expectations defensively. A lot of that Caruso and ball sort of pressing up and then getting break away buckets as a result to turnovers. Let's get into what the concerns are now because I think most people have kind of thought that defensively they've done a lot better and that concern is kind of gone. What do you see now on a regular basis that makes you think, okay, when it comes to the elite very

"Comes in, excuse me. I'll work with burckhardt. I'll be on the number one team and just if I were him, I just try to kick butt. And then see where it goes, and I think they brought Drew Brees in that have been a little bit different. You know, 'cause that would have been a little bit blow to his ego. I was gonna save that for later, the Drew Brees. Let's say. The other thing I just wanted to say on this, one thing that no one has talked about, which you have to be a real insight media nerd like myself to care about is if it's already announced burckhardt is Fox and a number one play by play man. Let's go off of the assumption Greg Olson is the number one analyst until Tom retires. They need a number two team, which is a very important booth, because okay, you're in the NFC there, you're going to have two good games a week, a lot of the times if you figure in, you know, Dallas is always a top drawer. You got the New York market Chicago market, the rams. So you need a good second booth, which is what burkhardt and Olsen were. And we really haven't heard anything about that. Do we know what Fox will do for that? Because in some years, that second booth gets a playoff game as well. Yeah, next year though we would have a playoff game. So I think Joe Davis and Adam amine are the two candidates. I think it's Davis, more likely, but not definitely. And then in terms of the analyst, they like Mark Sanchez a lot, they have Jonathan vilma as well. I think they probably at this point go in-house, you know, could Drew Brees come over, I don't see that now. I mean, I do think if the Brady thing didn't happen, breeze was on the on deck circle. You know, as being in play, that they might have tried to get breeze and, you know, we could talk breeze and like everyone. There's a case you could talk yourself into drew brew. I would have gone Greg Olson over Drew Brees. Like if it came down to that. Listen, they'll never do this and I probably shouldn't push for anything because I've gotten what I wanted lately. Harlan's going to call the Western Conference Finals for TNT. We got Tom at Fox, which I said, but they should make Gus the number two guy there and get him off college football. But that's just my own personal thing. They're never going to take them off college football, but that's what I would do if I was them. This is what I don't understand about the Drew Brees thing. What I don't understand is why he'd be a hot commodity after he gave an awful performance in his one opportunity to call a big game. Well, here's the case. Here's the case for Drew Brees. Okay. Number one, I think if you watch the Notre-Dame games, they don't count. This is the NFL. In Notre-Dame is being an analyst on these games. But the pressure, the response from fans, what you need to know, how important it is. It's a whole different form of Drew Brees has one bad game. Is one bad game. Well, and again, I've said this before. That was NBC's fault. They had no business giving them a playoff game and given them that spotlight for his first big assignment..

"That's a good one though. I'll give it to you. That was good and seeing who. Why why why why. Well y y y okay. Let me get started here. Tk i don't know how much you know about little dicky and his and his catalog. I'm a little confused with the timing of this reference. Because i've seen that episode of dave where kareem abdul-jabbar is in it and the song that adam references there but like i don't know i don't know if he had that song before the show because otherwise okay you don't know yeah. I don't know walk. The timeline doesn't make sense but then again it could just be a sign that he had no so. I'm gonna go fake 'cause of 'cause of attention to detail of like when this clip would have been happening in the reference to the korean part of dave which of course features a little dicky so a man i mean i think i've gotten the last four or five so feel free to fade me. This one feels very real to me. That feels very much like adam. Amine and stacey king the mannerisms from jd are exactly the lines that i think stacey king would be saying and certainly be elated to hear abba media upping rap lyrics during the middle of a broadcast which is something that he would do. I think he seems to have a lot of references at the ready. I know he's got these massive like no sheets. And i don't know timing wise either but i know nurkic was out early in the season so if he was sitting on the bench when he has longer hair. That's when the bulls played in portland. They played january fifth in portland. So if it's all early in the season times okay could be mark me down for real and like i guess it almost makes more sense if i saw it in the show. Dave again creams in the episode. And that song is referenced. It makes sense song that he had then they go and try and get kareem abdul-jabbar to be in the episode. Okay okay. you've sort of convinced. Me i've come to your side even though you know you've got wrong in a row. I guess it is. I guess it is really what do you think. Yeah there's no point in going Fake from here. You guys verdy sort of said. It's real tries. Ju just to get one you know. It's funny though. I haven't had a means voice. I can remember stacey kings because he's been around forever. I'm just trying to think of atoms in in my head and i'm like editing. Speak and hannity town. But it doesn't really help. I mean i'm gonna say real. Because i think it doesn't matter anyway because i'd be in the minority so real.

"Okay. There's a roller coaster right there. Yeah good call lee. Why was he saying that. Why did bill were. also that part is what. I'm so confused weird. It's a weird one about young people not worrying no because he says she should. Yeah yeah she should wear mass. We should wear masks and then because it because it's old. But i'm convinced he's saying it bill worrell because we are we're she is a beautiful woman and we are just old men. That's what i actually think he's saying. And then bullard sorta covers zara. That's my that's my. I mean we can get bill rail on the podcast now that he's retired. Maybe he's got some time. He's into an advisory role to houston rockets. But i believe like many people in the world says you're not sick. You're not old. You've got no worries. Take off the mask. That's basically that's essentially what he's saying. But i mean good point by trait about the sound system. I mean bill. Royal sounds a little like me. In that instance where he yeah. What's going on here in the stadium. Piping in the booze that was a really good he was commenting on. Yeah they didn't like the foul call in houston audio. Production jumped rain. They're doing a good job. So he's been at the helm or he was at the helm of play by play for forty years so good one time i saw tribute video to him. Started in eighty doing the rockets game sceptre up in houston so yeah pretty seen on loves the game and hope he enjoys his retirement. Thanks to ahmed patel for sending that one in. But we couldn't end on that one the final say. What is the bulls broadcast team of adam amine and stacey king great deal but it really has nothing to. What's that new combination. Yeah yeah. Because he's taking neil fox job. Yeah adam i mean has this is first season did a great job with stacey king but really has nothing to do with the bulls at all focuses on blazer center yousef merkich all play adam amine. Jd will play. stacey king. nurkic.
