"I had decided that this was going to be the the month that i dove headlong into magic the gathering arena after having last played in like the beta test of arena. Whenever that was so. I started opening packs and i think i put like forty bucks in to get enough of a start getting some cards and stuff and then built adak that i saw on the internet tweak that a little bit and got to mythic so that was pretty cool hit mythic ranking and You know had head of a fair bit of winning and losing to get there but not not terribly difficult a grind and then they just release the new set midnight hunt which is returned in astrud so playing some of that Really enjoying the sealed a format where you get six packs and and make your own deck from it. I think i prefer that to you in drafting but had never really done that before it all so just been playing a lot of magic the gathering via arena. And joshua. No your plane. I may be motivated you to reapply yourself. You sure did. Yeah when i hit mythic. I had been playing a little bit here and there not not a ton. Oh my gosh. I'm grinded mythic and i'm like oh man all right i gotta get going and i hit. I hit diamond for that was like okay. That's that's enough for me but Yeah i think it's awesome. You hit mythic. That's i haven't haven't gotten there yet. So maybe i'll have to put that on my to do list here try to grind it out. It's incredibly frustrating. Because you feel like some days you win four or five in a row and then you lose like seven in a row and you lose all your progress up the ladder that day and you can't stop because you get your first loss and you're like oh i gotta bounce back you know i gotta get those i gotta get that position back you lose again and then you get frustrating hit is that you just know is going to be like. I found myself conceding matches where i knew. It just wasn't going to be fun. Because either i didn't have the good opening draw or i in what scared me a little bit as i started the recognize other dachshund understand the standard format. I've never been that type of lake magic player. Where actually figure out what my opponent stack is and is trying to do and then like no. I either have ways to stop it and win. Or i don't sound like kim seating the game you know after i couple turns because i'm recognizing what it is and like this means playing entirely too much of this game that's awesome. Yeah and now with the the set rotating I i don't know all the new decks anymore. So i'm kind of going crap now. I have to re learn all this stuff you know so but no it's fun. I am enjoying it then. in-person gaming got together with troy for a A board game night josh. You couldn't make it. But john was there and we..

Glad you found the encore broadcast of what's on your mind Catching a show live mornings beginning at 8 30 Right here on your new source. Am 1100 flat. Question for you. This is the question of the day by the way, and you can answer this by texting me a seven or a one. 3672054 or call us at 800. 2280550 Here's the question of the day. Two Republicans. All Republicans. Need to stand up. In a bold way. For Donald Trump to win this election or to assure he wins this election. If I was Donald Trump folks, This is a typical example. Where you been way ahead of me are flying listeners way ahead of me. On this for one. I'm seeing Kevin Kramer. I'm seeing John Hogan. I've never seen him say a cross word about the President. Same with Doug Burgum. I mean, my world that you know these guys, they're doing it. Gonna call Friday for Senator Kramer was a gentleman who just said it's terrible and they kind of went back and forth and I know he was new to town and wasn't real familiar with Senator Kramer. I set up. I don't know how you'd say. Kevin Kramer's in in, You know, the top three top five worst. Of those defending the president. But Boyle boy We need more. And if I was Donald Trump, Here's what I do. Fox News debate where they said Everybody hold up your hand. If you're for getting rid of obamacare, whatever. I want to just say Republicans Whether you are elected, whether you are rank and file where their party type whatever. Raise your hand. Are you with him? Are you going to stand with this President? Are you going to fight for this country? Yes or no? And it's okay to say no. You may think politically. It's better for you not to say And you look, people are gonna make those decisions, okay? Fine. I think Donald Trump on a demand it. Let's make that the question today. Should Donald Trump demand But if you're with him, you stand up and be counted. And if you're not, that's OK, too. He would be I mean, every media advisor, political advisor on and be like you can't do that. Don't do that. Then you're gonna make people have to decide one way or the other in those swing district. I don't care. It's time. All you need to say, is just turn on your television set. Look at the riot police. Now look at all the defund the police movements. I don't want any police are you For that, then don't hold up your hand. If you want to stop that which every red blooded American should want to do. Raise your hand. Say you're going to stand with him Get out of the shadows. You're absolutely right. People want this and they want it now. And they should, Because if we don't have police departments, can you imagine what's going to happen? Can you imagine? I think it'll never happen. I mean, they'll talk about it. It's good. It's good. The water fodder raise money and old cops bad. I'm good, but you and I have a little proof of that. I'll play for in just a moment. I just like to Ah, ask Antifa is that If you don't want the police in place. What's going to protect you then from us? Yeah. Yeah. So way have we have we have a good example of how a while It's never gonna happen, But you've gotta fight for it, folks. He absolutely do with Bucky today by the way by Dak Diesel. C. What are the factors that determined the shaper indeed leaf size leaves a fascinating terms of the as you say variety of shapes the produced and one of the big questions which we still don't know all the answers to is how these shapes generated manmade shapes? We have a notion of how we make a spoon or plate because there's next to hand off our own hand the the process but with a leaf as with most biological structures there is no external hand it all has to figure out how to produce these shapes internally and Just as in a sense you could imagine how just to we use the musical scale. A single musical scale can produce all the different music that we hear from symphony used concertos to pop music and yet it's the same notes. It's the way in which the organized and put together the generates this amazing Variety of music and the same way leaves have a set of basic ingredients. And it's the combination of these ingredients allows still many different forms to be generated so although he's Mabul variety forms underlying that Some basic rules to get combined and also some glorious ways to produce the shapes. How Teachers Can Use Alexa To Enhance Learning

"Am the director of Instructional Technology and innovation at Chattanooga Christian school. You're intending Tennessee. My role here at the school is to really just help and teachers students and parents figure out how to use technology to support learning and that looks very different in day to day in class to class. We are a school that uses the Learning managed learning management system canvas and so a lot of my time is spent helping. Teachers get on board with canvas and creating the content for their courses. But then there's another side of the thing I do. It's just really helping. Teachers Look at water emerging tax water technologies. That are out there that we can really use to To really just under guard the learning bits in the classroom and never believe in technology like leading. What's happening in the classroom? I think the the great thing about education is the relationships between the teachers and the students but anytime that we can create efficiencies are create ways for the learning to be expanded than technology allows those type of things to happen and those those are the things that just really get passionate and so with that I started looking into voice technology I guess it's now been four years ago and slowly have Had some teachers here get involved with using voice in the classroom Most recently worked with a group of our. We have an international exchange. Student Program worked with some international students all from Asia. Who have are really knew English learners in so I work with Begum to create some voice opportunities to help them with learning not only like new words and vocabulary but helping them Study for tests outside of the course that they were in so they really struggled with the wellness course that they took because the phrases that were in. That course weren't familiar to them. Also biology Those names for the different body parts and things like that. That was really hard for them to memorize creating a voice skill that helped them memorized for tests. It's almost like a a voice study guide so to speak so those are the things that I feel like. The voice does really well in education so far but I think the opportunities are great for it to be even more and I feel like I'm also a podcast after and as a podcast. Her for the voice in education which is helping teachers learn. How do I use voice in the classroom safely? Taking Students Privacy into account And what's next and so my my goal is to kind of help. Not only am teachers. Figure that out but developers and the Google and the bixby and that Alexa of the world's Kinda see from the view of an educator. What is it we want? What what would help education? So I kind of feel like I've become this evangelist for education voice Not Truly looking for it. Just kind of happened yet. You're you're working with teachers. You're working with students. You're working with probably administrators parents and even developers so you have all these different stakeholders and you've accumulated a lot of knowledge. Tell us what do you mean when you save voice because there's a lot of people probably watching this and listening to this? That aren't quite sure and they may even be like Similar to your role or they might be in the classroom. They might be running a small business and they have no idea what voice means so tell us what do you mean when you say bowl oysters and you mentioned. Alexa skills and Google Dixie. And then also tell us how long. When did you first start identifying voice? Because I love what you said. You're looking for technology. Not THE LEAD. But technology support and make learning and teaching more efficient and effective similar to how data driven design is trying to help businesses be more efficient and effective voice that technology for US. So tell us what do you mean by boys and then? When did you first identify boys as a technology that can support everyone's goals so when I say voice at this point in time what I'm talking about is the voice assistance so an Alexa? Google Assistant Actually Samsung Bixby Creating some voice opportunities then not yet. Have I figured out how to use those in the classroom? Because they're they don't have their own device at this point but those devices putting those devices in a classroom and what it allows for For the classroom is to have a But not lose that Community feel in the classroom so I can ask you know for instance I can say What is ubiquitous mean? And I don't have to look down by Antipodean and look at dictionary dot com and then read it back. I can just look over at the device. I can ask the device and I haven't lost my students in the classroom. So that is one of efficiencies that it brings to the classroom. I believe Because it is communal in nature. I started doing the s looking at it as a possibility in the classroom. Actually four years ago I bought my very first one of those very tall original Alexa. I don't even remember what it was called at. This point took it into a middle school class. Ask The teacher. Hey can I just see? I didn't really have a plan. I just wanted to see how the kids interacted with it and it was there for ten minutes and I went no not going to do you. Wake kids are asking things I don't want him to ask. It just became this novelty but as time has moved on with any emerging technology there it becomes more and more useful or more and more of an ability to see its potential usefulness. And so that's where I think we are. We're beginning to see the potential usefulness in education when it first came out it just did seem like a novelty yeah. It'd be great if I could answer. Answer that question. But for an educator or anyone in an edge technology role you have to look at the pros and cons in my mind. I my former former accountant before I became an educator so I see this T. Chart in my head all the time of debits and credits in one side I'm looking at. What are the benefits of this and on the other side? I'm looking at whether the detriments of this and I believe wholeheartedly that we're in an era where the benefits are beginning to outweigh the detriments. And because they're so immersed in the world that we're in to ignore it seems dangerous to me because if we continue to ignore it then it's going to become something a we didn't really want it to become as educators and B. E. It becomes something that we have to adapt to instead of. Adak helping to adapt

Cowboys may use both tags on Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper

"The final year specifies that each of the NFL's thirty two teams can use both the franchise and transition tags this particular offseason that historic guarantee. If you don't know what that is you know franchise in transition tags in general I mean we. We have all sorts of information if you really want to understand the depths of them but in general the franchise and transition tag are ways that NFL teams can protect players that are set to be free agents. If you don't WanNA player to hit free agency you don't want me hit the open market. Bam you slapped a franchise or transition tag on them and typically generally only one is available to each NFL team so you have to pick which player you want to place a franchise tag on right or transition. Whatever the movie and so the fact that all. Nfl teams would be able to utilize both of them. This offseason really served as an incredible asset for the cowboys wrote about this last year. We wrote about this in March. Nineteen how we talked about then. Hey next offseason. The cowboys could have this really awesome tidbit in the that was the title of the article. That could really help them. Because of the cowboys find themselves in a position and we we kind of forecast this year ago where they have three big players that new contract extensions that are set to be true free agents Dak Prescott Amari Cooper and Byron Jones. You knew that and so while you can shake combination however you want in all likelihood the Dallas cowboys were going to Franchise Tag Prescott because it seems incredibly unlikely that deal done before that happens. Before the franchise tag deadline and then they were going to place the transition tag on either Amari Cooper or Byron Jones. Whoever you believe more likely personally I believe it was Amari Cooper but that would prevent both of those players from hitting the open market. Which means the cowboys could protect them. That's a big deal in. It seems like in this again. My personal opinion and and other people it'd be to share these thoughts and certainly a lot of our readers and commenters and listeners but a lot of people had kind of sort of made the assumption that the cowboys have accepted that they're going to lose Byron Jones. And you know what I think. I think I speak for all of us. That are listening. Here we're all gathered around the campfire. You know what if the cowboys is Byron? Jones not ideal but at least they have Dakhil these they have. They can figure this out. Maybe they spend their first round. Pick on cornerback. Whatever not trying to get to far into those weeds but the ability to keep both deck and Amari was and is a gigantic advantage. That the cowboys have going for them. How ever if a new collective bargaining agreement is reached in so far again at the time of this recording. We have the half that the owners have to comply with if a new collective bargaining agreement is reached it will essentially rendered the ability for teams to use both tags moot and they will revert to normal circumstances where there can only place one tag on one player. Now if you have not out by now you need to know that this hypothetical world which is I would say somewhat imminent in somewhat inevitable based on the rates that the collective bargaining agreement is happening and again as we sit on Thursday night. There's so many players kind of tweeting that they don't like the new. Cba proposal and whatnot so there could be some back and forth but if this is finalized before free agency and there's still a couple of weeks and those are going to be very important weeks then. Dak Prescott has all of the leverage in the world and all of the leverage in the world and we touched on this at the end of Thursday's episode because if that's the case and you and I were representing Dak Prescott. Then guess. What our point in our proposal to Jerry Jones Stephen Jones in the cowboys organization? Hey Dude if you don't if you don't get a deal done with us if you don't give deck all the money's basically you're going to have to tag them we all know that and if you tag back guess what you cannot tag anybody else if you tag back. Guess what. Amari Cooper and Byron Jones are going to be true free agents. You're going to be competing with the market for them. That is not ideal and other cowboys went from a world where they were probably going to lose one of the two. Probably going to be Byron Jones right to now that could potentially lose both of them which which would be a complete and utter disaster. And you know you can. You can play hindsight's twenty twenty but if the cowboys had just up to their contract offer to Dak Prescott Uruguay. I mean. We're talking thirty. Three thirty four million dollars per year. Everybody freaked out about that last year. That would look like such a bargain out. That's what happens with these deals. We've talked about that Matt Ryan to use thirty million dollars annually. Everybody freaked out now. That looks super cheap. And if the cowboys had done that they would have the ability to use the franchise tag on either Amari Cooper or Byron Jones win this ultimate sort of hypothetical becomes a reality and they would theoretically only lose one. Maybe not even either. So now the cowboys win till the eleventh hour is going to cost them in a literal financial sense where they're gonNA have to pay Dak Prescott more money and it could cost them in the capacity that they are now going to lose Byron Jones. And maybe even Amari Cooper now I should say that there is a a ray of hope. I suppose because you know look you may think this and I don't mean new but I mean I mean other person the other person here my think Jerry Jones is just. You know the cowboys. They don't know what they're doing. They're messing up. But there is a possibility. Because Jerry Jones is typically a big proponent for things like this the specialty. Nfl adding another wildcard round and round and other wildcard teams. A seventeenth game that is upping the value for every NFL owner. Jerry Jones is obviously very involved when I was on. Espn San Antonio on Thursday. We head John Maclean from the Houston Chronicle legendary. Nfl reporter one of the best. Ever do it and I John. I said look you know. Is it possible? The Jerry Jones kind of knew that this was coming that he was going to lose his ability to use both tags and somewhat prepared. Here's John Maclean said on. Espn Antonio John. You mentioned the The franchise transition tag loophole. That may be filled up and unavailable to the cowboys. Now maybe I'm giving Jerry Jones and co a little bit too much of the benefit of the doubt here. But in your estimation do you think that they you know Jerry Jones at least and we don't know the way the votes win but that he would seemingly be at the very least somewhat in support of this which would negate the ability to tag to players if he did not have a plan in place to at the very least keep one or two of these. You know high price three free agents. They have Adak Amari. I'm Byron Jones before the Franchise. Tag deadline that that's a great point. Jerry Jones. One of the movers and shakers in driving this agreement and even though it could hurt him. But I think Jerry all along you can't keep everybody I expect them to Cape Prescott and probably Cooper if Byron Jones those on the market. He's got a chance to be is defensive defensive back in yesterday I think teams are going to line up to give him a record-breaking deal. I don't think they would do that. With the Mario Cooper. There's too many good receivers. It's a great year for receivers coming out the draft. It's a good year for corners. If you don't mean Horn and the top after the first round so say they let Burne Jones go say the replacing with a cheaper free agent or they go after a corner in the draft and they can even train them they might have their pick of all of them no big deal John Maclean said it was a great point no big deal deal no big deal but anyway I think that if you're looking again if you're trying to be positive trying to be optimistic. I think there are two things to note one is that this is not probably not a surprise to cut the cowboys. Brass right like they had to have known that the collective bargaining agreement could be You know a a new one could be struck and therefore the ability that they were potentially leaning on to utilize both tags would be rendered moods and so they had to potentially be prepared for that. Maybe they all prepared for that. Maybe the preparedness is the preparedness to lose both Byron Jones in Amari Cooper. Who knows the other thing is that Adam schefter head tweet about this where he said Some something to the effect of if there's a new CBA expect a flurry of roster moves. And it's possible that you know we. We've heard so much about how different players in different guys and especially quarterbacks are awaiting the new CBA strike new contracts because they want a piece of whatever. The new percentages that players are going to get and whatnot and so we'll see so it also is possible that maybe the deal lanes right after the new. Cba struck because maybe DAX team is waiting for a new CBA to all to make their move. So who knows? But that's the positive side of things if you're trying to be positive so it is what it

"I just like everything about him. So allow me to reiterate that over Dax three years. He is one the second most games in the NFL by Tom Brady. How Thomas Edward Patrick Brady? Well about that who knew who knew that is that impressive say that I leave. It's very impressive. So let me get the street. You would rather play with the second best as opposed to dump past. Yes, he does wanna play with the second best because he believes in the second best. That's his leader. That's his Tom Brady. And he truly believes that that Prescott can be in the Tom Brady category as far as winning football games. And who knows that who who even has kept. Touch with the fact that Dak Prescott in his first three seasons. Leads all football in game winning drives with fourteen I'm talking about in the regular season. Obviously Tom Brady just won his sixth ring with his sixth game winning drive in the fourth quarter overtime of Super Bowls. But who knew that over the first three years of Dax career, his sixty six point one completion percentage set a record for NFL quarterbacks who knew that. Well, you did I did. But I'm the only one in the world who knows that? And so that brings us to what we just witnessed on Sunday night. It is still painfully clear to me that that Prescott is clearly better than Jared Goff.
