"It's 25 till this is America in the morning, no major weather makers across the country. Here's AccuWeather dot com, meteorologist Matt Benz. That's right, no snowstorms here across the U.S. for today, but there are a couple of systems that will have to keep an eye on as they could lead to some travel headaches, at least in parts across the country. That first system working its way across from the upper Midwest through the Great Lakes board today will deliver some snow at times. Perhaps some snow accumulation and with temperatures cold enough, there could be some snow accumulation on those roads at south could lead to some slippery conditions here throughout today. Another system moving across the northern rockies from the Pacific Northwest generally bringing snow across portions of Montana, especially near the front range of the Rocky Mountains. That's where there could be some disruptive snow with this next system. All of the tied to a shot of colder air moving out of Canada here through today and into this weekend, still some rain falling across portions of the Pacific Northwest for today, especially along the coast from Oregon back up towards Washington state. Southwest through California, dry for today, good news there continuing to dry out after such a soggy start to the month. And it looks like those strong offshore flow winds will begin to lighten up there as well here through today. Central southern plains will be dry along with much of the southeast, but it will be cool. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s across places like Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, 50s and 60s across northern Florida, though still mild across the southern portions of the Florida Peninsula. That clipper moving across the Great Lakes here for today largely bringing just some snowflakes across the appalachians and then drying out as it moves east of the appalachians towards the I 95 corridor, looking drive a cool across the northeast temperatures generally in the 30s and 40s less blustery compared to yesterday. It will be across New England where it will be in the 20s and 30s. That's nation's weather. I'm AccuWeather dot com. 23 till now, I'm John trout, this is America in the morning. "Welcome back to first light. I'm Linda, Kenya, It seems we've been stuck with the same weather pattern over the last couple of days. Accuweather dot com Meteorologist Matt Benzes here, Matt any chance that weather pattern will change this weekend? Hey, Linda for a lot of locations, especially east of the Rockies. It's been basically on whether repeat mode over the last few days, in fact, a good chunk of this week if you have been along the Gulf Coast, Texas and Louisiana, where they've seen just a torrential amounts of rainfall. Falling and that will continue to be the case here for today. Unfortunately, another round of heavy rainfall expected across Louisiana and eastern Texas as a fire hose of moisture continues to move off the Gulf of Mexico. So another round of perhaps flooding rain For today, the good news is there is an end in sight. This moisture plume will begin to shift westward heading into this weekend, so hopefully areas that have been hit hard with rain over the last few days. Will begin to dry out at least a bit into this weekend. Now, this plume of moisture moves northward up through the central and northern US with some showers and thunderstorms expected through at least the Great Lakes to the west. A new storm system will continue to roll through the Rocky Mountains. This will deliver some showers, mainly in the higher elevations of the Pacific Northwest through the Sierras, perhaps even some showers across the Great basin where it is cold enough. There could even be some rain and snow at times. Specially the across the high plains of Montana up into the prairie provinces of Canada. This will head towards Northeast heading into this weekend across the eastern U. S. Where high pressure is dominated the weather pattern it will continue to dominate heading into this weekend. So the Southeast US continued dry, pleasant conditions at least two this weekend, perhaps a shower thunderstorm across the Northeast here for today. Tomorrow and Sunday as temperatures begin to rebound. Find out the latest for your location, download the AccuWeather after day, and it's always have a great day. Linda. Thanks, Matt. La Niña likely for this fall, winter season
"And now that we're just past the halfway point in the fall of 2020. We wanted to see what's behind the wild swings from stormy two beautiful from cold to hot to. Ah, hurricane season that just wouldn't stop. Wildfires, tornadoes and much, much more. And it appears the big factor is a weather pattern called La Nina. But what is Let Nina why does that determine the kind of whether we get And what will it mean to all of us up north and down south as we approach the winter of 2021. For that. Let's talk to a weather expert. Joining us now is Paul Pastor Lock, senior meteorologist and head of the Long range Forecasting department at AccuWeather. Paul. What is La Nina Nina is the cooling of the central eastern equatorial Pacific waters. It changes the overall up a little patterns across the Pacific and actually globally. But it usually initiates a stronger northern jet stream storm track, and when we see La Nina, we can get faster, moving stronger systems that effect northern areas of the United States. And the Southern areas tend to kind of ease back a little bit. So you tend to get some colder shots in the north, and it stays warmer and drier in the south. And so we're expecting a lot, Nina this fall season this fall into winter. Yes, and it's already Starting up and it's also La Nina could be very favorable for named tropical systems in the Atlantic Basin. And so that's a sign that we've already seen 20 named storms that La Nina is coming in full blast. I see and Paul what causes this? Is it just nature taking shape or what? The globe. Those three cycles, warming and cooling of the equatorial, the loss of energy out of the waters. You know, this up and down kind of balancing act goes on and you get these wings to take place from back and forth between El Nino and La Nina. So it's a cycle that goes through sometimes that we have to wonder. And there's other tell connections that can affect whether we go into La Nina or El

Turn Skyward to Catch One of World’s Best Meteor Showers
"Next up bundle up and get ready for one. Of the year's best meteor showers the Geminis peak on Friday night right into Saturday according to accuweather Dave Samuel and NASA goals. But there's one issue this year light from a full moon will make meteors tough to see during the early hours of of the
As climate change brings more fires, how do we keep the air clean?
"Of climate change change is fire this fall. Wildfires in California have burned thousands of acres of land and fire season as it's called is still going on that follows the two to most destructive years of wildfire in California history last November a fire in northern California known as the camp fire destroyed the city of Paradise and killed eighty five five people. Scientists say this is happening because of hotter drier conditions and fires. Like this could be the normal where there's fire. There's also smoke folk. It creates a creepy or taste for hundreds of miles and is really bad for your lungs. The major component of smoke is PM. Two Point Five PM. Two point five refers to particles that are two point five microns or smaller Jeff. Williams is with the state of California's Air Resources Board to give you some perspective that is about one twentieth the width of a human hair. These are the particles that are easily responded into the lungs and actually can be pulled fairly deeply into the lungs and then there are toxins. Smoky air contains the chemicals and pollutants from the things that are burning like cars and plastics and treated it would and Williams says that can really hurt children the elderly or people with breathing problems. A little bit of smoke can affect them pretty significantly in May exacerbate for example apple their asthma symptoms but it impacts us. All they can't fire created so much smoke that the air around the fire and even as far as two hundred miles away in Oakland and San Francisco became the dirtiest in the world schools and businesses closed. Officials told everyone to stay inside. And if that's going to become more common than the air inside is going to become a lot more important in an office building we re circulate the air. So we don't bring in one hundred percent outside air. Marianne Piette is a senior scientist scientist at a research facility called the flex lab in Berkeley among other research projects. They're testing ventilation and indoor air quality but in extreme smoke you may want zero zero outside air. It's one hundred percents recirculated. That's certainly what they do in like spaceships. If you think about NASA they had to clean the air. The tech challenge is that recirculated air gets full of carbon dioxide and that can impair thinking which is bad in offices. Flex lab is testing materials. That grabbed those. Those molecules out of the air so people could still come to work in smoky conditions as for our homes. You can buy air purifiers. That do something similar. But they cost hundreds of dollars. Williams from the Air Quality Board says cheaper filters on air conditioners or heating units will work fine for most people and so we'll closing the windows really tight but he says everyone near an area with wildfires should invest in something. Yeah it's really anybody. The people that will benefit most I immediately are those sensitive populations but the reality is that we'll all benefit from cleaner air in our homes. Last year accuweather estimated the total cost of the campfire fire at four hundred billion dollars and said a lot of that cost would come as people develop health problems from all the smoke.
NAD+, Nicotinamide Riboside, and Nicotinamide Mononucleotide with Rhonda Patrick
"I'm going to talk about a molecule that has become in recent eight years extremely relevant to the field of aging specifically. I'm referring to any D. plus which I will refer to. As N de for short and some of the related precursor molecules kills Nicotinamide riboside often referred to as an R. and nicotinamide mononucleosis tired often referred to as an these two precursor sir molecules are called an boosters which can both be found as consumer available supplements. Just in case. You've never heard of any. It's probably one of the most important molecules accuweather on the planet so important in fact that without it life would cease to exist to NATO boosters nicotinamide said nicotinamide mono nuclear tied at very high doses. This is an animal. Studies have both been shown to improve the way multiple tissues and cell types age including skeletal and heart muscle brain and stem cells. There have also I've been to preliminary clinical trials in humans showing nicotinamide riboside may raise energy levels in white blood cells. which is pretty darn cool however I still? I think there are many open questions that need to be answered regarding. Ad Boosters and I will touch on some of these concerns in this episode but the possibility that intracellular NASD may be increased from a supplement or several types of supplements is awfully interesting if not downright exciting for one. Simple reason energy levels decrease with age and a decrease in energy eighty levels across a variety of types of tissues is associated with many and naming many hallmarks of aging these hallmarks of aging that are associated with age related plated changes in the pool either directly or indirectly include things. Like loss of Proto. Stasis Might conroe Dysfunction Glucose Intolerance Insulin Insulin Resistance Cellular senescence altered epigenetics and more this is partly because the availability of promotes. DNA repair capacity while its decline is associated associated with the accumulation of DNA damaging reactive oxygen species another reason is because Nada's required for energy production so when energy levels decline as they do with age this results in less energy production in many tissues like the brain immune cells muscle etc.. That means those organs do not work as well as they once insted. During youth. When energy levels were maintained? Any ideas also required for the activation of a very important family of enzymes involved in longevity called Sir Tunes and the complete answer to why energy levels fall with age is still an open question. But there's a few things we do know. As we age chronic inflammation and immune activation two processes that consume NASD tend to go up and with them our need for DNA repair placing an immense demand on our energy pool. Meanwhile while our ability to produce and recycle tends to fall with age we're GONNA cover a lot of ground in this episode but I wanNA start with an overview of any D- Any any deal has a very important role in energy metabolism and can be synthesized in the body from a variety of dietary sources including the amino acid trip to fan which which is in tons of healthy foods like salmon spinach and nuts and the three forms of niacin which is vitamin B.. Three also found in foods like lean meats legumes veggies edges these three forms of vitamin B.. Three include nicotinamide also called Niacin nicotinic acid and nicotinamide riboside they are commonly referred to as Nice in equivalents but dietary sources of energy are not the major source of any D. The major source of energy is through a recycling mechanism that we will discuss later. The reason for that is because our organs require such large quantities of that it would be impossible to consume enough from our diet. So why why do we require such large quantities of any first and foremost energy plays a critical role in energy metabolism critical. Meaning without it. You can't make energy entity participates in back and forth processes of reduction and oxidation often referred to as Reebok's reactions these alternating conversions of NFC's oxidized form which Canady to its reduced form. An Age are crucial for the metabolism of glucose and fatty acids and the formation of ATP. Since both the oxidized is in reduced forms of amd are essential for these linked sets of reactions cells need to maintain massive concentrations of both and a D. and an age basically without these molecules. Not only would we cease to exist but life on our planet would cease to exist and it is also a cofactor for many different important enzymes in this context a cofactor means something that is required for an enzyme to work at has to bind to the enzyme and this activates the enzyme so it can performance function so. Let's talk about a few of these enzymes. Several these NATO required enzymes are inside the Mitochondria and this is another way and participates in the generation of energy aside from itself being a type of energetic currency it also acts as a cofactor for enzymes involved in the production of energy from glucose outside of the minor Qendra this is referred or to as glycolysis many types of cells us look like Hollis's as their primary source of energy. For example. Red Blood cells do not have any medical Andrea so one hundred percent of the energy. They require to perform their function of delivering oxygen and other goodies to other tissues in the body comes from glycolysis and plays a very important role in mitigating DNA. A damage you need repair damage to DNA. That is because any cofactor for one of the most important enzymes involved. In repairing DNA damage called part one the activation of part one requires an enormous amount of any D for example excessive DNA damage in subsequent one activation have been shown to decrease energy levels to twenty to thirty percent of its normal levels. The ability to repair DNA damage is important for longevity. LYMPHOBLASTIC cell lines established from blood samples of humans who were centenarians. One hundred years or older have significantly higher part one activity than cell lines established from younger individuals. That are seventy years old part. One activity has also been correlated with maximum lifespan. In mammals the higher the part one activity the longer lifespan. For example the activity of part one one was measured across multiple Mammalian species and the difference in powerpoint activity between the longest lived mammals tested which were humans and the shortest lived mammals tested. which were rats? It's was fivefold so not too much of a surprise but genomic stability which relies on energy in general and pop ones specifically maybe very important morton longevity is required to activate signaling proteins knowns or two which are highly conserved enzymes play roles in health span and longevity in multiple organisms uh-huh so to ends are linked to the regulation of variety of metabolic processes like the response to stress and the modulation of lifespan. The way they do this is through EPA genetic regulation so twins utilize ad to remove specific chemical structures called seal groups.
Google Play Pass vs Apple Arcade: The battle of the curated app subscriptions
"Take on the APP subscription model is a little different from apple which just launched last week Apple Arcade. It's forty nine games. Subscriptions are as a four hundred nine games subscription type of their firstly google. Play Pass includes foods APPs as well as games. Secondly Google isn't directly funding development their development nor demanding exclusivity. I'M GONNA stop there for a second again because I want to get like your service level like what's your immediate reaction to my thing is so I just switched over to the new iphone. Oh Nice so a How's IT I love it? The cameras seen really it's so you'd better be insane with those three. Frigid wild is on yeah so while I was doing this my my previous phone. I had like like five pages of APPs. I'm trying to transfer my data to my new phone. It's like Oh this can take fourteen hours. Let me delete all the absence of that I don't use and then transfer dot down to a page half of APPs right so to get access to three hundred and fifty games and apps like I might views like three of those most likely those three after going to be free anyway so I feel like paying five bucks a month to get access to this stuff and then also sorry Sir Sir though without any in-app purchases does that mean that there are only going to be games that don't have access to in-app purchases. That's that's a good question like let's say that clash of clans does on there There's in that purchases in there. Can I now not make those in that purchases because I'm paying the five dollars a month or all those purchases free. That's very confusing to me and I imagine it can't be the second one definitely take that can't be the case. I'm going to rack up a three thousand dollar per seat because I pay five Google Payne. This was happening and a lot of the more I think there's a more more solid games that have in that purchases not so what what kind of stuff is actually going to be good. That's in this package. and I could be totally wrong if you're using an APP playing the game that with no in-app purchases that was like just like two bucks perfect. NOPE TAPPIN has an purchases Israeli yeah I don't know I guess in that case like you just wouldn't see you question planes on there right you just imagine like games that heavily rely on in in that purchases just won't appear on the service is kind of a bummer but like most of those games are also free right yeah so like the free games with purchases yeah so so I guess like it kind of ways out that like yeah I guess I mean they're free anyway so yeah. I'd have to get the list yeah exactly and we can get into that because like the article continues here at launch all the APPS and games including Google play pass were already available on the play store and will continue to be available as standalone purchases or ad-supported. If you've previously installed any APP that's included in the service and sign up your current APP should automatically have it's as removed and its impact in-app purchases unlocked and so that kind of yes I recant everything I just said especially because the next part says that you get started valley yeah so am risk forty what do with risk yeah flavors heavy. I might get this because of risk so fast forwarding the to the end of the article right it says Google says roughly two-thirds of the APPs included in play pass. That's our games including longtime favorites starting Valley Monument Valley Limbo. Let's read go in risk in other words they include a mix of indie institutional institutional developers similarly the non game APPs include biggies like accuweather and smaller well-loved android apps like high Q. Quarter. I haven't seen a fullest yet but other notable games that I noticed include Star Wars Knights of the old republic which I didn't know what yeah that's wild right what play flavor mobile. I have no idea delete the whole two minutes of me off. I I don't even have an android also say besides many metro old man's journey which I've heard great and yellow and yeah like so. I'm an android Guy I've been seeing all the apple arcane stuff for the last week and it's been bumming me out there 'cause all that stuff looks looks great yeah like I've heard so much about games like what the Golf I've been playing Sayonara wild hearts on my switch on mobile that game will probably be also pretty cool to have which McCall exit the engine seems cool engine's great yeah like mobile yes. It's part of Kedah. I feel like I missed all that stuff so I should let me just backtrack wixom in the past couple of days so Wednesday Wednesday flew to Manila to do a show in the Philippines pins did a show then the next morning food is Shanghai to do a show. Oh my God it's morning Food Honolulu to do a show and then flew here to do this so I'm getting caught up. I'm getting caught up. I apologize how does for not being as your best life.
